- 0:00Speaker 1: You had smart Hawaii Chat.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Sure.
- 0:04Speaker 1: So we had a couple of really good meals there.
- 0:09Speaker 3: Did you bring me anything from Hilo Hattie?
- 0:11Speaker 1: It did not.
- 0:12Speaker 3: You didn't go to Hilo Hattie. Did not get Macadamian
- 0:16Speaker 3: ups there.
- 0:17Speaker 1: One of the meals was at a restaurant called Merriman's,
- 0:20Speaker 1: which is kind of a famous Hawaiian very very nice
- 0:25Speaker 1: fancy restaurant. And all week Joe had been saying, I
- 0:30Speaker 1: got reservations this night at Merriman's. And so during the day,
- 0:36Speaker 1: some of the days we had stuff together, but other
- 0:38Speaker 1: times we all just kind of did our own things.
- 0:40Speaker 1: So we have dinner at five o'clock at Merriman's. So
- 0:45Speaker 1: we need to be in front of the hotel at
- 0:48Speaker 1: four point thirty to leave for that. So I'm standing there,
- 0:53Speaker 1: Joe's standing there, Jonesy standing there. We're all dressed up
- 0:57Speaker 1: for nice, dressy, fancy dinner night. No Mohammed, No Mohammed
- 1:04Speaker 1: wasn't there, profit was not called called. No phone goes
- 1:08Speaker 1: right to voicemail, and Joe's like, what do we do? Like, well,
- 1:13Speaker 1: we told him he's not here. Let's just go. We
- 1:19Speaker 1: we head to the restaurant. But I felt bad.
- 1:22Speaker 3: I'm like away or pretty close, Like no, like a
- 1:24Speaker 3: half hour away.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Well, it was like a track.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Did you did you? You didn't walk?
- 1:31Speaker 1: No, we had a car. We had a car. And
- 1:34Speaker 1: so we're sitting there at dinner and and uh, about
- 1:38Speaker 1: twenty minutes into it, Jonesy gets a text on her
- 1:41Speaker 1: phone and he and he said, he's on my phone.
- 1:44Speaker 1: I got it wet at the hot tub. It's not working.
- 1:50Speaker 1: So not only was it not working to get our
- 1:53Speaker 1: calls or call us or know what time it was
- 1:56Speaker 1: or anything. And we're like, well, you know, we're at dinner,
- 1:59Speaker 1: and he's like, why want to come. We're like, well,
- 2:00Speaker 1: if you can figure out how to get here, he
- 2:04Speaker 1: couldn't do uber because his phone wasn't working. I still
- 2:08Speaker 1: don't know how he made it to dinner, but.
- 2:10Speaker 3: He he didn't ask that.
- 2:12Speaker 1: He's like, I got here, Like Mohammed's resourceful. I could
- 2:17Speaker 1: see him, you know, sticking a thumb out and I
- 2:19Speaker 1: don't know how he got there, but he got there.
- 2:21Speaker 3: So that's why you had for dinner a pile of stuff?
- 2:24Speaker 3: What's that?
- 2:25Speaker 1: This is a different meal. We went to a place
- 2:28Speaker 1: called Cypriani's, which is an Italian restaurant.
- 2:31Speaker 4: X ninety six dot com slash live. It's a pile
- 2:34Speaker 4: of of uh.
- 2:36Speaker 1: So we go to Cypriani's and the lovely proprietor Claudia
- 2:43Speaker 1: like like straight from Italy woman nick accent, and you
- 2:48Speaker 1: know how you go to restaurants and they say, are
- 2:50Speaker 1: there any allergies or preferences? Which I appreciate when they
- 2:55Speaker 1: ask that.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Because Mike, I'm an Italian and I don't like anything
- 3:01Speaker 2: that Italians love.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Because my my cheese thing is not an allergy, it's
- 3:05Speaker 1: a preference. And I said, I said I don't. I
- 3:09Speaker 1: don't eat cheese. Now she took that to mean that
- 3:13Speaker 1: I was vegan. Ah, and she said oh, And she
- 3:17Speaker 1: gestures across the restaurant and she said, do you know
- 3:21Speaker 1: the black eyed peas? And at first I was thinking,
- 3:24Speaker 1: she's give you a black eyed peace, a black eyed
- 3:27Speaker 1: pea meal of some kind. No, will I Am Apparently
- 3:34Speaker 1: this is his favorite restaurant and lives nearby somewhere, really
- 3:38Speaker 1: is sitting over in the corner and she gestures toward
- 3:43Speaker 1: him and she said, will I Am is vegan, and
- 3:47Speaker 1: I make a special pasta just for him, and I
- 3:50Speaker 1: will make it for you now, in my mind, I'm
- 3:53Speaker 1: thinking I don't want a vegan passa?
- 3:56Speaker 3: Well is that it?
- 3:58Speaker 1: That? And she said, I will make it just for
- 3:59Speaker 1: you you Yes, next ninety six dot com slash live
- 4:02Speaker 1: and she said, will i Am says it's the best
- 4:04Speaker 1: pasta he's ever had.
- 4:06Speaker 4: So those are those are noodles kind of look thick
- 4:09Speaker 4: and twisted, thick.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Twisted pasta noodles. It had olives, fried capers, uh art
- 4:19Speaker 1: choke carts. Uh. Will I am thank you? First?
- 4:28Speaker 2: Well did you go over?
- 4:30Speaker 1: And I'm not going to bother will I Am?
- 4:33Speaker 3: I would have.
- 4:34Speaker 4: And I also when I asked my son how he
- 4:36Speaker 4: got to the damn restaurant?
- 4:38Speaker 3: What's wrong with you? Sometimes Mama just takes care of that,
- 4:42Speaker 3: but you can ask him.
- 4:45Speaker 1: I didn't want. I don't think I wanted to know
- 4:47Speaker 1: how he got there.
- 4:48Speaker 4: I would and I would have. I seriously would have.
- 4:51Speaker 4: I would have braved it. I would have said you
- 4:53Speaker 4: know what, and I bet he would have gotten a
- 4:55Speaker 4: big kick out of it. I want to thank you
- 4:57Speaker 4: very much. I just got I just ate the same
- 5:00Speaker 4: thing you just you love And yes, absolutely, and I
- 5:06Speaker 4: think he probably would have been gracious and I will
- 5:08Speaker 4: I am.
- 5:09Speaker 1: But have you ever been intimidated by like a waitress
- 5:14Speaker 1: or someone that owns a restaurant when they're like, no,
- 5:17Speaker 1: this is this is what you're having. I am bringing
- 5:20Speaker 1: you this thing. You did not select it, I am.
- 5:23Speaker 2: I am bringing you this. Well, I can see why
- 5:25Speaker 2: you would be intimate. The rest of us would be like, oh,
- 5:29Speaker 2: this might be interesting, but I am.
- 5:31Speaker 1: So grateful for for you. I was like, oh, this
- 5:35Speaker 1: is wonderful.
- 5:36Speaker 4: When I went to Costa Rica, there was this restaurant
- 5:38Speaker 4: that guy recommended. I was up in the mount ron
- 5:41Speaker 4: Al area and he said, you go there, and there
- 5:44Speaker 4: is no menu. He comes out and talks with everyone
- 5:48Speaker 4: and decides what he's going to make each person based
- 5:51Speaker 4: on how he feels about you. Oh that's great and
- 5:53Speaker 4: and so that's that's.
- 5:56Speaker 3: What we do.
- 5:56Speaker 4: And I don't remember what I had. I remember it
- 5:58Speaker 4: being good about I. You know, he'd go, you know
- 6:01Speaker 4: what I'm gonna make for you. He also was He
- 6:04Speaker 4: was also a huge uh. He loved marijuana. He had
- 6:08Speaker 4: a big big pot shirt on and and talk wanted
- 6:12Speaker 4: to talk about marijuana a lot too. But he was
- 6:14Speaker 4: a German guy, and he was very he was fascinating
- 6:17Speaker 4: and he made good food.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Will I am posta write him at least at least yeah?
- 6:25Speaker 3: Was he by himself? Yes? Oh that would see perfect?
- 6:29Speaker 1: But see them. I feel like people get bothered.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Just as you're leaving, you walk by and you go.
- 6:35Speaker 4: Had you it was great, I would gone and he
- 6:40Speaker 4: probably would have said that would be why don't you
- 6:41Speaker 4: have a seat. We'll share a glass of wine.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Now your assignment is to find out how Mohammad got
- 6:50Speaker 2: to the restaurant. My guess is he hitch hiked, which
- 6:55Speaker 2: means he hitchhiked without a phone that he could use.
- 6:58Speaker 1: This is what I'm saying. He didn't call uber because
- 7:01Speaker 1: his phone was broke exactly now. He may have gotten
- 7:04Speaker 1: someone else to call before.
- 7:06Speaker 4: Him, or he could maybe he talked to the to
- 7:09Speaker 4: the can you is there a way you can get
- 7:13Speaker 4: me a ride?
- 7:14Speaker 1: I just love that he just figures things out. He
- 7:18Speaker 1: just does.
- 7:19Speaker 4: He just And don't you think it would be helpful
- 7:22Speaker 4: to you if when you ask him that and you go, huh,
- 7:27Speaker 4: if I'm ever in that situation, maybe I could know.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Because if I were in that situation, I would have gone, well,
- 7:32Speaker 1: I guess I'm not going to dinner. I would have
- 7:34Speaker 1: just stayed put.
- 7:38Speaker 4: I just and you never would have seen where I
- 7:41Speaker 4: am and had a chance to talk to him, which
- 7:44Speaker 4: you also blewe. I don't know.
- 7:48Speaker 3: My kid's got so much energy, he probably just ran there. Yeah,
- 7:51Speaker 3: could be.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Now, speaking of dinner, yes, this is a new thing
- 7:56Speaker 2: that Sue and I are doing. Okay, we have found
- 7:59Speaker 2: that if we make plans for dinner, okay, as the
- 8:02Speaker 2: day starts to go on and we get comfy at home,
- 8:06Speaker 2: we're like, maybe maybe we don't. So what we've decided
- 8:11Speaker 2: to start doing is late lunch, like the late lunch.
- 8:15Speaker 4: Well, late lunch that's great today, Pay attention to lunch day,
- 8:19Speaker 4: pay attention now.
- 8:20Speaker 1: I'm a big fan of late lunch.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Late lunch is the thing. Now, we just need more
- 8:23Speaker 2: restaurants to be open a little bit later that like like.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Like uh one two to ish Okay, late lunch, that's
- 8:37Speaker 3: that's the key. It's National Make Lunch count Day.
- 8:40Speaker 2: And then if you eat enough, usually you just have
- 8:43Speaker 2: a snack or something before you go to bed.
- 8:45Speaker 1: I would be perfectly fine with that schedule.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Because we went over to this place here in North
- 8:50Speaker 2: Salt Lake. It's spelled Coyote but with a K, but
- 8:54Speaker 2: it's a it's a Japanese place, and we had noodles
- 8:58Speaker 2: and ribs and got a high ball and it was
- 9:02Speaker 2: a fabulous and I wasn't hungry.
- 9:03Speaker 3: The rest of the day.
- 9:05Speaker 1: I can get behind this.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Behind the late launch.
- 9:08Speaker 4: So we had dim sum at noon and I ate
- 9:11Speaker 4: a lot of dim sum, a lot of dim sum
- 9:15Speaker 4: for an hour and a half. We ate dim sum
- 9:17Speaker 4: and I didn't really need much for dinner after that.
- 9:20Speaker 3: Yeah,
