- 0:13SPEAKER_01: And it became so big that when Aaliyah came to the tunnel to perform, she said, I want to do that version.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: Get in touch with those guys and fly us up to New York.
- 0:22SPEAKER_01: So my first time actually leading Aaliyah was on the tunnel on stage.
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: And three, two, one.
- 0:29SPEAKER_01: I'm DJ Enough.
- 0:30SPEAKER_02: I'm DJ Camillo.
- 0:31SPEAKER_02: I'm DJ Cast One.
- 0:33SPEAKER_02: And I'm Len Books, AKL Books.

- 0:55SPEAKER_03: Camelito checking in.
- 0:56SPEAKER_02: There it is.
- 0:57SPEAKER_02: And of course, we got El Presi that the DJing up.
- 1:00SPEAKER_02: What up, though, Pop?
- 1:01SPEAKER_02: Bing, Bing, Bing.
- 1:03SPEAKER_02: I am here.
- 1:04SPEAKER_02: Yes, sir.
- 1:05SPEAKER_02: And I got my men's in them, you know what I mean?
- 1:07SPEAKER_02: What up, Cass?
- 1:08SPEAKER_04: What's up?
- 1:09SPEAKER_04: What's going on, my geysers?
- 1:11SPEAKER_02: All right, y'all.
- 1:12SPEAKER_02: We're here.
- 1:12SPEAKER_02: So look, every week what we've been doing is we've been saying what's up, of course, to the whole squad, but individually, we've been saying what's up.
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: And this week is my brother, DJ Cass one, out of the home of the hip-hop.
- 1:23SPEAKER_02: Uh, down the block, actually, where hip-hop started from and all that.
- 1:27SPEAKER_02: He's a Bronx kid, a hundred percent.
- 1:29SPEAKER_02: And I will say and I will vouch, he he got the elements of hip-hop in his blood.
- 1:34SPEAKER_02: He did you did you break this?
- 1:36SPEAKER_02: Is that the only thing you're missing?
- 1:38SPEAKER_03: Nah, bro.
- 1:38SPEAKER_03: I was trash.
- 1:39SPEAKER_03: I tried it, but I was trash.
- 1:41SPEAKER_03: Yo, for those that don't know what born and raised in the home of hip-hop, explain to them exactly what that means.
- 1:47SPEAKER_03: There's a lot of young ins that don't understand that, like what that means.
- 1:51SPEAKER_04: Like, I mean, listen, you know, they they say hip-hop started on Cedric Ave, right?
- 1:56SPEAKER_04: I literally, my formative years were spent on Cedric Ave, like right there on uh Burnside and Cedric Ave, which is down the block from the home of hip hop.
- 2:06SPEAKER_04: So I was literally my building is like, you know, when you hear when you hear the history of hip hop, people talk about they had the park jams at Cedar Park.
- 2:13SPEAKER_04: Like my balcony of my building looked, I could walk on my balcony of my, by the way, it's not a fancy balcony, it's a bronze balcony.
- 2:20SPEAKER_04: It's a fire escape, so before y'all even think about that, it's like, yo, this dude had a balcony.
- 2:24SPEAKER_04: No, it was one of those bronze.
- 2:26SPEAKER_04: Well, anyway, I could see Cedar Park from my balcony, like literally, open the door, boom, Cedar Park.
- 2:31SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
- 2:31SPEAKER_04: That's why I used to play basketball every day, but that's where I was at.
- 2:34SPEAKER_04: I was like right there where it was happening.
- 2:36SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 2:37SPEAKER_04: Yo, did you know what you were watching?
- 2:39SPEAKER_04: Or you just like there's a bunch of people.
- 2:40SPEAKER_04: Well, no, you know what?
- 2:41SPEAKER_04: By the time I came on, it was a little later.
- 2:43SPEAKER_04: It was later.
- 2:43SPEAKER_04: It wasn't like the cool hurt days, it was later on, but they would still have like the park dance and the park parties.
- 2:49SPEAKER_04: I didn't know what I was watching.
- 2:50SPEAKER_04: I was just watching people out there.
- 2:51SPEAKER_04: It was just like you would go out and have a good time, you go out there to the to the park, and they're giving out free food and people are playing music, and it was just, you know, I as a kid, I didn't know what I was doing.
- 2:59SPEAKER_04: I was just out there having fun, playing basketball, getting in trouble with all my friends, but it was just like, you know, just being there and the whole thing was fire.
- 3:07SPEAKER_02: But you being there, how you how you um how you picked up graffiti?
- 3:10SPEAKER_02: Because that's where your name comes from, graffiti.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: How you picked that up?
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: Just cudge?
- 3:14SPEAKER_04: I don't I don't remember how I picked up graffiti, bro.
- 3:16SPEAKER_04: It was just like, it was just like part of hip-hop.
- 3:19SPEAKER_04: So I was like, oh, that's that's what everybody does.
- 3:21SPEAKER_04: Everybody raps, everybody does graffiti, everybody DJs, everybody break dances.
- 3:26SPEAKER_03: So I just like y'all do a tag name?
- 3:28SPEAKER_03: Everybody had a tag name?
- 3:29SPEAKER_03: Did everybody here have a tag name?
- 3:30SPEAKER_03: Do you enough used to do graffiti?
- 3:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, mine's was horrible, fam.
- 3:33SPEAKER_03: Mine was horrible too.
- 3:35SPEAKER_03: What was it?
- 3:35SPEAKER_05: We gotta know what it was.
- 3:38SPEAKER_02: I was chubby.
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: My shit was donut.
- 3:40SPEAKER_02: That's what they used to call me.
- 3:42SPEAKER_02: Yo, donut is fire though.
- 3:43SPEAKER_02: Donut is donuts don't keep fire.
- 3:46SPEAKER_02: And then I used to, and then because I hung out with the older gods, it was donut ski, because you have to have ski to your name no matter where you were from back in the day.
- 3:54SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 3:56SPEAKER_03: Mine was C VK, C V Kid, Colombian Vicious Kid.
- 4:00SPEAKER_03: Choose P VK, CVK.
- 4:04SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
- 4:05SPEAKER_03: What about you?
- 4:06SPEAKER_05: I had a couple.
- 4:07SPEAKER_03: Whoa.
- 4:08SPEAKER_05: One was uh PA1, which was Public Anime, uh Public Animal One.
- 4:15SPEAKER_05: And then I wrote EW because my name was Ewap Ski back in those days.
- 4:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I know.
- 4:19SPEAKER_02: Ewapski, I like that.
- 4:21SPEAKER_05: I never Ewap ski in the place to be.
- 4:24SPEAKER_05: I went to St.
- 4:25SPEAKER_05: John's University.
- 4:26SPEAKER_05: So yeah, that's how it was.
- 4:27SPEAKER_05: That's how we rap.
- 4:28SPEAKER_05: So Cash 1 used to tag that shit up.
- 4:31SPEAKER_04: Cash one.
- 4:32SPEAKER_04: So here's so here's what happened, right?
- 4:34SPEAKER_04: Like, I've always been, I'm always like a visual learner and like I like learning stuff by doing, right?
- 4:41SPEAKER_04: So the same way with DJing is kind of how I did graffiti.
- 4:44SPEAKER_04: I didn't have anybody to teach me.
- 4:45SPEAKER_04: I didn't learn anything from anybody.
- 4:47SPEAKER_04: I just kind of just went out and just did it.
- 4:48SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 4:50SPEAKER_04: Like I just went out and did I have to figure it out.
- 4:51SPEAKER_04: I was like, yo, which markers are they using?
- 4:53SPEAKER_02: Yo, graffiti backwards, like the DJ setup.
- 4:58SPEAKER_04: Kinda, yeah, because everything that I did was wrong.
- 5:01SPEAKER_04: Everything that I did was wrong, but it worked.
- 5:03SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
- 5:04SPEAKER_04: So like it was just me.
- 5:05SPEAKER_04: I would just go out by myself and just start, you know, writing on stuff just because I thought, just because I felt it was cool.
- 5:10SPEAKER_04: Like, you know what I'm saying?
- 5:11SPEAKER_04: Like, it was just me and my and my and my and my man's cow.
- 5:14SPEAKER_04: That's it.
- 5:14SPEAKER_04: We was a uh a contained unit, just like with DJ, and I was a contained unit.
- 5:18SPEAKER_04: I didn't know anybody, I was just doing it.
- 5:20SPEAKER_03: I just think growing up in New York, growing up in New York, like you had to like just have a tag and everybody just like that was just part of everything you did, though.
- 5:28SPEAKER_03: Like, that's it.
- 5:29SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 5:29SPEAKER_04: And I'm gonna keep it real with you.
- 5:30SPEAKER_04: Like, I didn't even since I was a low-key nerd, I was a nerd and a cool kid at the same time.
- 5:36SPEAKER_04: I literally read a book about graffiti, and that's what made me really jump dive into it.
- 5:41SPEAKER_04: Like, yo, this is fire.
- 5:42SPEAKER_04: But the book was called, um, if I remember correctly, it was The Art of Getting Up.
- 5:46SPEAKER_04: But this book was literally like almost the same thing as Wildstyle and those type of movies, but in book form.
- 5:52SPEAKER_04: So I had everybody in there, had K Slate, had all the history of all of that in there.
- 5:56SPEAKER_04: Mind you, I wasn't putting that together because I was like 9, 10, 11 years old at the time, but I was like, yo, this is fire.
- 6:03SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
- 6:04SPEAKER_04: And that's kind of how I got because we had to listen, real talk.
- 6:07SPEAKER_04: I was in summer school, I fell one of our classes, and we had to, for one of our summer school things, we had to pick a book out of the library, write a book report.
- 6:14SPEAKER_04: I picked a book of graffiti because I'm a freaking criminal.
- 6:19SPEAKER_04: So that's kind of like it all started around the same time.
- 6:22SPEAKER_04: Like me doing the graffiti, the DJing, all that stuff started around the same time, and it just kind of like developed, right?
- 6:28SPEAKER_04: So I didn't actually meet another DJ, like I told you guys before.
- 6:32SPEAKER_04: I didn't meet or interact with other DJs till I was like 15, 16.
- 6:37SPEAKER_04: By that time, I've been three, four years in already doing my own thing backwards.
- 6:41SPEAKER_04: So who's the first person to hook up your equipment?
- 6:44SPEAKER_04: You?
- 6:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I was the first one.
- 6:46SPEAKER_04: I had like my uncle had like uh my uncle used to play music.
- 6:49SPEAKER_04: He was big on music, but he wasn't a DJ.
- 6:51SPEAKER_04: But he had a lot of equipment.
- 6:52SPEAKER_04: So he had mixers and turntables and all this stuff.
- 6:55SPEAKER_04: And he gave me the old um the pyramid mixer with the wood on it.
- 6:59SPEAKER_04: It was like the wooden pyramid mixer, four-channel joint.
- 7:01SPEAKER_04: Oh, I hated that mixer.
- 7:03SPEAKER_05: You know why?
- 7:04SPEAKER_05: Because in the middle of the fader, it had a click.
- 7:06unknown: Yeah, yeah.
- 7:07SPEAKER_05: Like a little click.
- 7:08SPEAKER_05: Every time you got the little part of the channel.
- 7:09SPEAKER_04: And the fader was mad hard.
- 7:10SPEAKER_04: You'd be like, it is that mixer.
- 7:13SPEAKER_04: Like the goal of the fader was super hard.
- 7:15SPEAKER_04: So I had that and I had a turntable.
- 7:17SPEAKER_04: Like my parents' turntable was like, you know, we always used to have the house party.
- 7:20SPEAKER_04: So my parents, for some reason, my dad and like all the guys in my family were like heavy into like real equipment.
- 7:27SPEAKER_04: So my dad had a techniques turntable.
- 7:29SPEAKER_04: It wasn't a 1200, but it was like techniques.
- 7:31SPEAKER_04: It wasn't like he had like bullshit turntables.
- 7:34SPEAKER_04: So I was a belt drive.
- 7:36SPEAKER_02: No, no, go ahead, go ahead.
- 7:38SPEAKER_04: Oh no, it was it was definitely a belt drive.
- 7:39SPEAKER_04: So I took that and I hooked it up to my pyramid mixer, and I was off to the races.
- 7:43SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
- 7:44SPEAKER_04: I had one turntable, one mixer, and I had a tape deck.
- 7:47SPEAKER_04: I would play the instrumental on the tape deck, practice my scratching on the on the on the turntable, and just try to copy whatever I heard other DJs doing.
- 7:54SPEAKER_04: Like I would listen to that.
- 7:56SPEAKER_03: Stop right there.
- 7:57SPEAKER_03: So one turntable, one mixer.
- 7:59SPEAKER_03: Okay, right.
- 8:00SPEAKER_03: That was not connected correctly, right?
- 8:01SPEAKER_03: That's what it all started.
- 8:02SPEAKER_03: You're gonna get the backwards.
- 8:04SPEAKER_03: From jump.
- 8:05SPEAKER_03: Okay, from jump.
- 8:07SPEAKER_03: Everybody out there, so you understand, Cass One DJs like this.
- 8:11SPEAKER_03: In other words, he plays backwards.
- 8:13SPEAKER_03: Like this song is on this side, turntable, and this on this turn was not the way we all learn.
- 8:17SPEAKER_03: So it got us all fucked up many years later when we got to Cast one.
- 8:22SPEAKER_04: It's like, it's like I it's like, all right, in baseball terms, it's like if I'm right-handed, but I bat lefty.
- 8:28SPEAKER_04: So that's kind of like what it is, right?
- 8:30SPEAKER_04: So that's kind of like what it is.
- 8:31SPEAKER_04: And uh, so I would just sit there and learn by ear.
- 8:34SPEAKER_04: Like I would listen to it and be like, I would listen, like, let's say I'm listening to Enuff on the radio or a mixtape.
- 8:40SPEAKER_04: I listen to what he does and I'd be like, mm, how'd he do that?
- 8:42SPEAKER_04: And I try to figure it out.
- 8:43SPEAKER_04: Like, how would it sound like, oh, let me do it like this?
- 8:45SPEAKER_04: Let me do it like that.
- 8:46SPEAKER_04: Until I got it.
- 8:46SPEAKER_04: So I didn't have anybody teaching me.
- 8:48SPEAKER_04: I kind of had to figure it out.
- 8:50SPEAKER_04: Self-taught, baby.
- 8:51SPEAKER_04: Self-taught.
- 8:51SPEAKER_04: Well, self-taught.
- 8:54SPEAKER_02: What was your first like real gig?
- 8:55SPEAKER_02: Like, you got at least$25 for after you was like, yo, you know what?
- 8:58SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna do it.
- 9:00SPEAKER_04: Um so it was it was definitely probably a house party.
- 9:03SPEAKER_04: It was definitely a house party.
- 9:05SPEAKER_04: It was definitely with Mark the Spot.
- 9:09SPEAKER_04: We definitely, we definitely used to, I we definitely used to find empty apartments and throw house parties and charge people two uh two dollars and three dollars to get it.
- 9:18SPEAKER_04: So that was like where the first little money came from.
- 9:21SPEAKER_04: And then, you know, we started doing like we started doing people's parties, started doing baby showers, you started doing uh 15 year old keys saying, Yeah, that's always like I didn't do a club until college.
- 9:32SPEAKER_04: Like I didn't even I didn't even step foot into a club until I was already makes sense, huh?
- 9:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah, makes sense until I was already in college.
- 9:40SPEAKER_04: Sounds about right.
- 9:41SPEAKER_02: Wait, let me ask him that.
- 9:42SPEAKER_02: And then when when you know, fast forward when I met Cass, and then finally we was like, yo, let's do these parties, right?
- 9:49SPEAKER_02: The worst part that I ever did to my friend was trying to give him a DJ name, right?
- 9:54SPEAKER_02: So I took his first name and I called him, I put it on the fly.
- 9:57SPEAKER_02: He hated him, he probably remember this.
- 9:59SPEAKER_02: I put DJ Juan Sho, like, because we call him Juan Cho, right?
- 10:04SPEAKER_02: So his DJ name to me was Juan Sho, like Ju.
- 10:08SPEAKER_02: And I thought I killed it with that shit.
- 10:10SPEAKER_04: But you know what's you know what's crazy?
- 10:12SPEAKER_04: You wasn't the first one to do that because when I was like when I first started doing the house parties and I was trying to find a DJ name, it they was like, yo, we just gonna call you Juan Cho.
- 10:21SPEAKER_04: But instead of Juan, they made the J a W and it was Juan Cho.
- 10:26SPEAKER_04: I was like, nah, this thing gonna work, bro.
- 10:29SPEAKER_04: This is not gonna work, bro.
- 10:34SPEAKER_02: But body did so let me so let me fast forward, right?
- 10:37SPEAKER_04: So you know, we do the same thing, the high school thing, you do your little club, your parties, whatever, whatever.
- 10:42SPEAKER_04: But here's to the point that I was never taking it seriously, right?
- 10:46SPEAKER_04: It was so unserious to me, DJing.
- 10:48SPEAKER_04: Like it was just for fun, it's so unserious that the day that I went to college, and I was like, all right, cool, I'm gonna go to college now.
- 10:55SPEAKER_04: I gave away all my records and all my equipment.
- 10:57SPEAKER_02: Oh, world.
- 10:58SPEAKER_04: Give it away.
- 10:59SPEAKER_02: Damn.
- 10:59SPEAKER_04: Everything.
- 11:00SPEAKER_04: I gave everything away.
- 11:01SPEAKER_04: Here you go.
- 11:02SPEAKER_04: Everybody, like you are.
- 11:03SPEAKER_04: I gave um Mark a bunch of stuff, my boy uh uh Antoine.
- 11:07SPEAKER_04: Everybody got a piece of everything.
- 11:08SPEAKER_04: I had so when the first day I started school, I had no records, got rid of everything, right?
- 11:13SPEAKER_04: I get to school, bro.
- 11:15SPEAKER_04: I kid you not, right?
- 11:16SPEAKER_04: I get to school and there's 50 DJs in my dorm.
- 11:19SPEAKER_04: There's 50 DJs in my dorm.
- 11:20SPEAKER_04: Real talk, real talk, real talk.
- 11:22SPEAKER_04: Right?
- 11:22SPEAKER_04: And they all sucked.
- 11:24SPEAKER_04: So I was like, yo, these dudes are trash, but whatever.
- 11:27SPEAKER_04: I didn't really care anything about it.
- 11:28SPEAKER_04: I just was like, all right, whatever.
- 11:30SPEAKER_04: Name this in my school, like in my dorm.
- 11:33SPEAKER_04: Name the school.
- 11:34SPEAKER_04: L I U L Post.
- 11:35SPEAKER_04: L I U C W Post.
- 11:37SPEAKER_04: There was a bunch of, you know what?
- 11:38SPEAKER_04: Let me just stop.
- 11:38SPEAKER_04: They all suck.
- 11:39SPEAKER_04: Some of them suck.
- 11:40SPEAKER_04: The ones with the best equipment sucked, right?
- 11:43SPEAKER_04: And they'll tell you, like, yo, I suck.
- 11:45SPEAKER_04: But they had 1200s, they had everything, right?
- 11:47SPEAKER_04: So I'm like, all right, bet.
- 11:48SPEAKER_04: I get to school and I'm seeing these dudes, and you know, whatever.
- 11:52SPEAKER_04: I didn't think anything of it.
- 11:53SPEAKER_04: I would go in their room, DJ a little bit.
- 11:54SPEAKER_04: They'll be like, oh, yo, you did it.
- 11:56SPEAKER_04: That's fine.
- 11:56SPEAKER_04: You know how to DJ?
- 11:57SPEAKER_04: I'm like, yeah, whatever.
- 11:58SPEAKER_04: That's when I started figuring out again that I was backwards.
- 12:01SPEAKER_04: Anyway, the thing that changed my whole perspective, it was two things.
- 12:04SPEAKER_04: One, the school had a talent show one day, and there was a guy DJing the talent show, and we were cool.
- 12:10SPEAKER_04: So I asked him, like, oh shit, that's cool.
- 12:12SPEAKER_04: You're doing the talent show.
- 12:13SPEAKER_04: And he was like, Yeah, yeah, you know, I'm getting I'm getting paid and doing whatever.
- 12:16SPEAKER_04: I'm like, oh, cool, cool.
- 12:17SPEAKER_04: He was like, I was like, yo, how much you getting paid for this?
- 12:19SPEAKER_04: He was like,$2,000.
- 12:21SPEAKER_04: I said, what?
- 12:23SPEAKER_04: I said, I said, hold on, wait a minute.
- 12:26SPEAKER_04: I said, you can't pay what to do what?
- 12:29SPEAKER_04: I was like, yo, this guy's getting paid$2,000 to do that.
- 12:32SPEAKER_04: I was like, ah, you know what?
- 12:34SPEAKER_04: Maybe this might be a I need to get back.
- 12:36SPEAKER_04: I might need to, I needed to get money.
- 12:38SPEAKER_04: So I was like, yo, you know what?
- 12:39SPEAKER_04: I got tuition to pay.
- 12:40SPEAKER_04: Let me start DJing again.
- 12:41SPEAKER_04: So that's and then I mind you, I given away all my records, all my equipment.
- 12:45SPEAKER_04: So I'm like, what's the best way?
- 12:47SPEAKER_04: And at this point, Boogs was already in school.
- 12:49SPEAKER_04: So shout out to me and Boogs were in school together.
- 12:51SPEAKER_04: Boogs was one year ahead of me.
- 12:52SPEAKER_04: So he already had a year up at the school.
- 12:54SPEAKER_04: Boogs was no bullshit.
- 12:56SPEAKER_04: Books was the guy.
- 12:57SPEAKER_04: At school, Boogs was the guy.
- 13:00SPEAKER_04: He was right, Boogs.
- 13:01SPEAKER_04: He was the guy.
- 13:02SPEAKER_04: Just like he's the guy now.
- 13:03SPEAKER_04: He was already the guy.
- 13:04SPEAKER_04: I don't care who you nobody's gonna tell you Boogs wasn't the guy.
- 13:07SPEAKER_04: He was that guy.
- 13:08SPEAKER_04: So much so he was the guy that me and all my freshman crew hated him.
- 13:13SPEAKER_04: Yo, fuck that guy.
- 13:14SPEAKER_04: He thinks you're all that.
- 13:15SPEAKER_04: He's trash, bro.
- 13:16SPEAKER_04: Him and Hulk Squad is trash, right?
- 13:19SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 13:19SPEAKER_04: So we came in, they're like, yo, we the we the we the thing, right?
- 13:22SPEAKER_04: So Bugs and all his crew, they're killing it.
- 13:24SPEAKER_04: When we come in, they're like, yo, this dude is trash.
- 13:27SPEAKER_04: I'm in a situation where I have no records, no nothing.
- 13:30SPEAKER_04: So what did I do?
- 13:32SPEAKER_04: I linked up with somehow I met um um um my boy Aaron and my boy Rasheen, who are still in the music business today.
- 13:40SPEAKER_02: You guys know Aaron.
- 13:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 13:43SPEAKER_04: So I meant so they were already doing a radio show at the station.
- 13:46SPEAKER_04: And they were like, yo, we need a DJ.
- 13:48SPEAKER_04: Do you want to be the DJ at the station?
- 13:50SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, yo, I don't got no records.
- 13:51SPEAKER_04: And it came in.
- 13:53SPEAKER_04: They go, they go, nah, we get we get free records.
- 13:56SPEAKER_04: And I was like, what do you mean get free records?
- 13:58SPEAKER_04: They were like, yeah, we're on radio, so we get free records.
- 14:00SPEAKER_04: They took me to the radio station.
- 14:02SPEAKER_04: I go there, there's like five closets with every record that has ever come out.
- 14:07SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, oh, this is it.
- 14:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah, this is this is how I'm gonna get my vinyls back.
- 14:14SPEAKER_04: So that's what I did.
- 14:15SPEAKER_04: I started doing college radio, and that's how I started getting records, building my catalog back up because mind me, I've given away everything.
- 14:21SPEAKER_04: So now I'm at the radio station, they have five, six copies of everything.
- 14:25SPEAKER_04: I'm taking over that.
- 14:26SPEAKER_04: I'm building my crates back up.
- 14:29SPEAKER_04: And I'm doing college radio, you know, we're having a good time doing college radio.
- 14:33SPEAKER_04: This goes on for like a year, and then mind you, I'm still beefing with boogs.
- 14:37SPEAKER_04: We still beefing with boogs in the squad, like hard, hard.
- 14:41SPEAKER_04: Like it's you know, it's college campus stuff.
- 14:43SPEAKER_04: We beefing them hard.
- 14:44SPEAKER_04: So that was freshman year, sophomore year.
- 14:47SPEAKER_04: I walk into school, and they usually assign you your roommates.
- 14:52SPEAKER_04: I walk into my room, who's sitting in the room?
- 14:55SPEAKER_04: I'm like, nah.
- 14:56SPEAKER_04: I'm like, no fucking way.
- 14:58SPEAKER_04: He became your roommate guy right there.
- 15:03SPEAKER_05: I'm like, no, what are the what are the odds, bro?
- 15:07SPEAKER_02: No way.
- 15:08SPEAKER_02: And let me ask you.
- 15:09SPEAKER_02: No way.
- 15:10SPEAKER_02: And I'm gonna be honest, it only took me like 30 seconds to be like, bet, I'm getting rid of everybody on my show.
- 15:17SPEAKER_02: Like, I didn't, it wasn't even a thought process.
- 15:20SPEAKER_02: I'm like, why is he here?
- 15:21SPEAKER_02: And I was like, that's one of them things that I looked at life like this shit was meant to be, bro.
- 15:26SPEAKER_02: Because like his whole squad, they was into it, yo.
- 15:28SPEAKER_02: Like, they was into it, like promoter, DJ, like they was into that shit.
- 15:32SPEAKER_02: Rappers, we had a squad.
- 15:34SPEAKER_02: He had a squad, and then I had a rated show, he had a show, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 15:39SPEAKER_02: I was like, yeah, I don't think I'm gonna need any of y'all no more, bro.
- 15:42SPEAKER_02: And that's it.
- 15:42SPEAKER_02: Like, and I always tell people, like, yo, when you used to go to our room, fam, like, yo, we had turns two T It was crazy.
- 15:51SPEAKER_02: Every entertainment.
- 15:52SPEAKER_02: You see, you see what Camillo's room looks like now?
- 15:54SPEAKER_02: That was our room.
- 15:56SPEAKER_02: And people would be like, for what?
- 15:57SPEAKER_02: I'd be like, fam, because we never want to leave the room and get it, like, you know what I'm saying?
- 16:00SPEAKER_02: That didn't get in trouble with ourselves, yo.
- 16:03SPEAKER_04: Now, now I'll give now you at this point, E and the whole heavy other thing hasn't even come into the picture yet.
- 16:08SPEAKER_04: We still just in college, you know, doing college parties and doing college radio and things like that.
- 16:13SPEAKER_04: You haven't met it enough by now, right?
- 16:14SPEAKER_04: You haven't done enough.
- 16:15SPEAKER_04: Mind you, haven't met the mellow.
- 16:17SPEAKER_04: I'm still no.
- 16:18SPEAKER_04: Oh, but I'm still not, I'm still so unserious with it, bro.
- 16:21SPEAKER_04: I just I really don't care about it at all.
- 16:23SPEAKER_04: I just do it for fun.
- 16:24SPEAKER_04: Meanwhile, this guy, Books, super serious about it.
- 16:27SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 16:28SPEAKER_04: Like he's like, yeah, I'm gonna.
- 16:29SPEAKER_04: I I honestly I was going to school to be like, I don't even know why I went to school for this, but I was going to school because I wanted to be like a TV producer.
- 16:36SPEAKER_04: I wanted to like edit film and stuff like that.
- 16:38SPEAKER_04: So I was taking all these film classes and video editing and Photoshop and all these type of weird classes.
- 16:44SPEAKER_04: And Books is like, bro, why are you even doing that?
- 16:46SPEAKER_04: We're gonna do this, we're gonna be we're gonna be on radio, we're gonna be rocking.
- 16:49SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, all right, man.
- 16:52SPEAKER_04: So so Boogs went and got an internship at high 97.
- 16:56SPEAKER_04: Right?
- 16:56SPEAKER_04: We'll get to that book story, but this is how it intertwines in my story.
- 17:00SPEAKER_04: Boogs gets an internship ahead 97.
- 17:02SPEAKER_04: The hustler.
- 17:03SPEAKER_04: The hustler.
- 17:04SPEAKER_04: He gets an internship behind 97 on the street team.
- 17:06SPEAKER_04: He gets connected with Enough and Thread and the whole, the whole kit and caboodle.
- 17:10SPEAKER_04: Mind you, at this time, we are still going to all the parties where you guys are DJing.
- 17:14SPEAKER_04: Enough, Camillo at the um at you know, Jimmy's Bronx Cafe, Casablanca, at um the the the what was the the the what was the one on 34th Street?
- 17:24SPEAKER_04: They moved it, the um the Copa.
- 17:26SPEAKER_04: We do it, we're going to all these parties.
- 17:27SPEAKER_04: We're going to these parties anywhere.
- 17:29SPEAKER_04: We've seen you guys, we don't know you guys.
- 17:30SPEAKER_04: But Boogs gets in with enough.
- 17:33SPEAKER_04: We'll leave we'll leave Boogs to describe how he gets in with enough.
- 17:36SPEAKER_04: So Books is coming back to school every day, going back and forth to the station rocket with enough.
- 17:40SPEAKER_04: Meanwhile, I'm sitting at school just doing my school thing, and Boogs is like, yo, bro, you should come with me.
- 17:45SPEAKER_04: Enough.
- 17:45SPEAKER_04: Blah blah blah blah.
- 17:46SPEAKER_04: High 97.
- 17:47SPEAKER_04: G G G G.
- 17:48SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, yo, my man, you are selling me a pipe dream.
- 17:50SPEAKER_04: I am busy.
- 17:51SPEAKER_04: Leave me alone.
- 17:52SPEAKER_04: I gotta test tomorrow.
- 17:53SPEAKER_04: I don't got time for this.
- 17:55SPEAKER_04: Like, I'm not, I'm unserious about DJing.
- 17:58SPEAKER_04: It's not, I'm like, yo, there's no way.
- 18:00SPEAKER_04: This is not, I love doing it.
- 18:02SPEAKER_04: It's fun, great.
- 18:03SPEAKER_04: It's like basketball for me.
- 18:05SPEAKER_04: I'm I play basketball, I'm not going to the NBA, right?
- 18:08SPEAKER_04: I'm playing basketball every day.
- 18:09SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna I'm on the course every day, but I know I'm not going to the NBA, so it's all good, bro.
- 18:13SPEAKER_04: That's how I kind of looked at DJing.
- 18:15SPEAKER_04: And then uh crazy.
- 18:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so then eventually, Boogs, I remember though the night that everything changed was a night of party at Hoshra, right?
- 18:25SPEAKER_04: Um, we were hot out there, Long Island, doing our little parties, a little clubs.
- 18:29SPEAKER_04: We were filling ourselves.
- 18:31SPEAKER_04: And then so on on your side of things, enough and Camillo, that's this is when Tinker to the Streets has started.
- 18:38SPEAKER_07: Yeah, right?
- 18:39SPEAKER_03: So Camillo, you were on Taken to the Streets, right?
- 18:41SPEAKER_03: Threat night, Saturdays, once a month, threat and lantern, case lay.
- 18:45SPEAKER_03: Go ahead.
- 18:46SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 18:46SPEAKER_04: So Threat at the time used to be Enough's opening DJ, right hand man, and all of that.
- 18:52SPEAKER_04: But Threat was getting to the point where he was now starting, his own career was starting to fledgling, right?
- 18:58SPEAKER_04: He was eight, he was doing uh promotions at Rough Riders, he was getting on on high 87 and all that.
- 19:04SPEAKER_04: He was hustling, threat was hustling back then.
- 19:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he was going hard, right?
- 19:08SPEAKER_04: He was going hard.
- 19:09SPEAKER_04: Um, this is when you guys were talking about the heavy hitter thing, it hadn't happened yet.
- 19:13SPEAKER_04: And uh uh Threat was moving on to his own thing.
- 19:17SPEAKER_04: So Books is already in with Enough and they're doing things together.
- 19:20SPEAKER_04: And Books tells me, Yo, bro, Threat is moving up, Enough's gonna need somebody to help him out, or just carry crates, be part of the team.
- 19:27SPEAKER_04: You gotta come around, this, that, and the third.
- 19:30SPEAKER_04: This is going on for weeks, or maybe even months, right?
- 19:32SPEAKER_04: And I'm just like, I'm not hearing him.
- 19:34SPEAKER_04: Uh, whatever, whatever, bro.
- 19:36SPEAKER_04: Whatever, bro.
- 19:37SPEAKER_04: So then one night, enough was DJing at a big party at Hofstra.
- 19:42SPEAKER_04: There used to be this place in Hofstra called Hofstra, USA.
- 19:44SPEAKER_04: Used to hold like a thousand to two thousand students.
- 19:47SPEAKER_04: It was wild.
- 19:48SPEAKER_04: They had wild parties there, and enough was DJing this one night.
- 19:52SPEAKER_04: I was there anyway.
- 19:53SPEAKER_04: I wasn't going there to see Enough, but I was there to party.
- 19:55SPEAKER_04: I was going to the I was going to the party with Books.
- 19:57SPEAKER_04: So Books like, yo, this is the perfect time.
- 19:59SPEAKER_04: I'm introduced to Enough.
- 20:01SPEAKER_04: So mind you, Enough is rocking.
- 20:03SPEAKER_04: The shit is bananas.
- 20:05SPEAKER_04: He's D he's actually DJing.
- 20:06SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 20:07SPEAKER_04: I don't even know why Books thought this would be a good idea.
- 20:09SPEAKER_04: And he goes, Yo, Eve, this is the guy that I'm telling you about, right?
- 20:13SPEAKER_04: Meanwhile, enough is a half and half thing.
- 20:15SPEAKER_04: Enough's like, oh yeah?
- 20:16SPEAKER_04: Oh, you the guy?
- 20:17SPEAKER_04: All right, cool.
- 20:17SPEAKER_04: Let me see what you got.
- 20:19SPEAKER_04: We're here now, fam.
- 20:20SPEAKER_04: Now hold up.
- 20:21SPEAKER_05: That's the shit that you knew motherfucking DJs won't do for the next DJ.
- 20:26SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 20:26SPEAKER_04: So Enough goes to me.
- 20:27SPEAKER_04: Mind you, this is Hofstra USA, 2,000 students, top of the like apex of the party.
- 20:33SPEAKER_04: Like it wasn't like it was an end.
- 20:35SPEAKER_04: Beginning, prime time.
- 20:36SPEAKER_04: This guy backs off the turntables, like, here, let me see what you got.
- 20:40SPEAKER_04: You wouldn't do that.
- 20:41SPEAKER_04: You wouldn't do that either.
- 20:42SPEAKER_04: Nah.
- 20:43SPEAKER_04: You wouldn't do that.
- 20:44SPEAKER_04: I'd be too busy.
- 20:44SPEAKER_04: Like, it's my time.
- 20:46SPEAKER_04: You won't do that.
- 20:47SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 20:47SPEAKER_04: That's a fact.
- 20:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's a fact.
- 20:49SPEAKER_04: So this is this is a testament to what you know to the person that enough is.
- 20:52SPEAKER_04: Mind you, I at the time, I'm just like, all right, sure, whatever.
- 20:57SPEAKER_04: I do this all the time.
- 20:58SPEAKER_04: I don't care.
- 20:58SPEAKER_04: Boom.
- 20:58SPEAKER_04: I get on.
- 20:59SPEAKER_04: I play a couple records.
- 21:00SPEAKER_04: And then he goes, you know, not even spectacular.
- 21:02SPEAKER_04: I just play some records.
- 21:03SPEAKER_04: And then he goes, all right, cool.
- 21:04SPEAKER_04: Good enough.
- 21:06SPEAKER_04: Alright, cool.
- 21:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah, your man, your books.
- 21:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah, your man's cool.
- 21:08SPEAKER_04: He's good.
- 21:09SPEAKER_04: Boom.
- 21:09SPEAKER_04: So enough gets back on.
- 21:11SPEAKER_04: But at this time, and I don't know why he has never remembered this.
- 21:14SPEAKER_04: At the end of the party, he's like, yo, that'll, you know, cool, whatever, whatever.
- 21:19SPEAKER_04: But I already got somebody, right?
- 21:20SPEAKER_04: Like he's like, yo, books was telling me about you for a minute, but I already got somebody.
- 21:24SPEAKER_04: And to me, it was like, okay, whatever.
- 21:26SPEAKER_04: Like, I was just coming to say what's up anyway.
- 21:28SPEAKER_04: Like, I didn't really think anything of it.
- 21:29SPEAKER_04: Enough had gotten somebody to become his opening DJ.
- 21:32SPEAKER_04: Sir, if you're out there, we've been looking for you for about 20 years.
- 21:36SPEAKER_04: Because I need the story corroborated.
- 21:39SPEAKER_04: Somehow, somehow, the guy, I don't know if it was at that party.
- 21:44SPEAKER_04: I don't remember specifically if it was that party or another party, but he got drunk or something, was drinking, and then was driving enough truck home, and somehow got into a weird type of accident.
- 21:56SPEAKER_04: They didn't crash the car, but they kind of like spun out something.
- 21:59SPEAKER_04: So
- 22:00SPEAKER_05: E.
- 22:00SPEAKER_05: I was in a black truck.
- 22:02SPEAKER_05: It was my first truck ever bought, and it hydroplane in the parking lot.
- 22:06SPEAKER_05: In the parking lot.
- 22:09SPEAKER_05: I was like, yo, get out the street.
- 22:10SPEAKER_04: So E calls me the next day, like, yo, no, it's he tells Borgs because he had my number.
- 22:15SPEAKER_04: He tells Brooks the next day, yo, I fired homie.
- 22:18SPEAKER_04: Tell your man to come up to the show on Saturday.
- 22:20SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 22:21SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 22:21SPEAKER_04: And that's how I was like, I was like, so Boggs comes back and like, yo, bro, Enough say you good.
- 22:26SPEAKER_04: Come up to the show on Saturday.
- 22:27SPEAKER_04: Because Enough was doing the midnight run still.
- 22:29SPEAKER_04: I thought it was something happened here.
- 22:32SPEAKER_04: Maybe it was before that.
- 22:33SPEAKER_04: I don't remember.
- 22:33SPEAKER_04: It had to be the midnight run.
- 22:35SPEAKER_04: Had to be the midnight run.
- 22:36SPEAKER_04: So it had to be the midnight run.
- 22:37SPEAKER_04: So maybe it was right before you guys started doing the street.
- 22:40SPEAKER_05: That was before Saturdays.
- 22:42SPEAKER_04: Correct.
- 22:43SPEAKER_04: No, right.
- 22:43SPEAKER_04: It was Saturday.
- 22:44SPEAKER_04: So it was right before the transition happened to uh you guys.
- 22:48SPEAKER_04: So I'm like, all right, bet.
- 22:50SPEAKER_04: So that's kind of how I met.
- 22:52SPEAKER_04: That's exactly how I met Enough, right?
- 22:55SPEAKER_04: And when I went to the station for that first time, is when I first realized, like, yo, you know what?
- 23:01SPEAKER_04: This might be something that I might want to do.
- 23:03SPEAKER_04: This might be fun to do, but it was still not like serious.
- 23:07SPEAKER_03: It was like, all right, cool.
- 23:08SPEAKER_03: Let's hang out.
- 23:09SPEAKER_03: Keep it a bug.
- 23:09SPEAKER_03: Keep it a bug.
- 23:10SPEAKER_03: When you walked into that room, bro.
- 23:12SPEAKER_02: It did something for you, though.
- 23:13SPEAKER_02: It had to have done something for you.
- 23:14SPEAKER_03: No, it was it was crazy.
- 23:16SPEAKER_03: It was like, because I had never been like you never even imagined what it looked like.
- 23:20SPEAKER_03: Well, you said, uh, uh, I'm I play basketball, I'm gonna make the NBA, but all of a sudden you're walking into MSG, bro.
- 23:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I walk into MSG as a guest.
- 23:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no.
- 23:29SPEAKER_03: I had to flip your whole life, oh shit, I'm fucking here.
- 23:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah, okay, but watching this, enough of that.
- 23:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but watch this.
- 23:37SPEAKER_04: So the first night that I get there, right?
- 23:39SPEAKER_04: I'm in there.
- 23:40SPEAKER_04: I'm I'm I'm in there.
- 23:41SPEAKER_04: First time in high 97 ever.
- 23:42SPEAKER_04: Enough is DJing from midnight all the way to 4 a.m.
- 23:45SPEAKER_04: straight, no commercials.
- 23:46SPEAKER_04: That's like four hours straight.
- 23:48SPEAKER_05: So you're just commercial break at the 12 no 150.
- 23:52SPEAKER_04: Top of the hour sometime.
- 23:53SPEAKER_04: Okay, so one commercial break.
- 23:55SPEAKER_04: It doesn't so boom.
- 23:56SPEAKER_04: I'm like, you know, I'm just there watching, I'm just a flying a wall.
- 23:59SPEAKER_04: Like, wow, this is crazy.
- 24:00SPEAKER_04: This is high 97.
- 24:01SPEAKER_04: Wow, this is wow.
- 24:02SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 24:03SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 24:05SPEAKER_04: And then uh enough goes to me.
- 24:08SPEAKER_04: Yo, here, play a record.
- 24:10SPEAKER_04: I gotta go to the bathroom real quick.
- 24:11SPEAKER_05: Yeah, so now what?
- 24:13SPEAKER_04: So now an hour show.
- 24:14SPEAKER_04: I had to go to the bathroom.
- 24:15SPEAKER_04: He had to go to the bathroom, he does it again.
- 24:18SPEAKER_04: Get on.
- 24:19SPEAKER_04: Right, exactly.
- 24:20SPEAKER_04: Now, now, now, back to my NBA reference.
- 24:22SPEAKER_04: Now, not only am I in the garden, but Melo checks out.
- 24:25SPEAKER_04: I was like, yo, bro, stop me for a second.
- 24:27SPEAKER_04: I gotta go get some water.
- 24:28SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 24:29SPEAKER_04: I'm like, what?
- 24:30SPEAKER_04: I'm like, wait, what?
- 24:31SPEAKER_04: He's like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 24:32SPEAKER_04: Just play a record.
- 24:33SPEAKER_04: I'll be back.
- 24:33SPEAKER_04: He's like, yo, and then I I specifically remember the record.
- 24:36SPEAKER_04: It was reggae.
- 24:37SPEAKER_04: He was playing the showtime rhythm, or the whole showtime reggae rhythm, which was at the time was two records, and it was ever it was like eight songs on each side.
- 24:45SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
- 24:45SPEAKER_04: Of the showtime.
- 24:46SPEAKER_04: So he's like, yo, yeah, yeah, just play showtime.
- 24:47SPEAKER_04: I'll be right back.
- 24:48SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, okay, cool, showtime.
- 24:50SPEAKER_04: I I could do this, I can do this, I can play showtime.
- 24:53SPEAKER_04: So I'm on there now, nervous as hell.
- 24:56SPEAKER_04: My first time at High 97, and now I'm on the radio at Hot 97.
- 25:00SPEAKER_04: So I'm like, my only thing is like, yo, don't fuck up.
- 25:03SPEAKER_04: Don't mess up.
- 25:03SPEAKER_04: Don't mess up.
- 25:04SPEAKER_04: So I'm playing, I start playing the showtime record.
- 25:07SPEAKER_04: Bro, I go through the whole vinyl, flip the vinyl, go to the end of the vinyl and still know enough.
- 25:14SPEAKER_04: I'm like, yo, where is this guy?
- 25:16SPEAKER_04: I'm scared to put on another record.
- 25:17SPEAKER_04: I'm scared, I don't know what to do.
- 25:19SPEAKER_04: I'm like, yo, I don't want to change the record.
- 25:21SPEAKER_04: I don't know what to do.
- 25:22SPEAKER_04: It was not like you didn't have a laptop.
- 25:25SPEAKER_04: It was just vinyl.
- 25:26SPEAKER_04: And I was like, yo, I don't know where none, you know, because I didn't know where any of these you could go on somebody's computer now and search and find a song.
- 25:32SPEAKER_04: I didn't know where any of these guys' records were.
- 25:34SPEAKER_02: Wait, wait, wait.
- 25:35SPEAKER_02: And then the crazy part is I start out as a proud ass friend, a proud ass parent.
- 25:40SPEAKER_02: I was like, look at my guy, enough trust him.
- 25:43SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, oh shit, the music is gonna finish.
- 25:45SPEAKER_02: We ain't never been through this part of anything and any training, nothing.
- 25:49SPEAKER_02: And I'm looking like, damn, he sent my man up nasty.
- 25:52SPEAKER_02: Like, yo, all those thoughts were going through my head, dog.
- 25:55SPEAKER_02: Like, you don't understand.
- 25:57SPEAKER_02: Yo, dog.
- 25:57SPEAKER_02: Go ahead, go ahead.
- 25:58SPEAKER_04: Yo, dog.
- 25:59SPEAKER_04: So then the studio had the the DJ booth had a glass where you could see the main studio.
- 26:03SPEAKER_04: But I have I wasn't looking to there because I was so focused on just being like this.
- 26:07SPEAKER_04: So I start panicking, like, yo, where's Enough?
- 26:09SPEAKER_04: How come he's not back from the bathroom yet?
- 26:10SPEAKER_04: Like, what kind of, what kind of, what kind of what kind of number two is he taking?
- 26:14SPEAKER_04: Like, what is happening here?
- 26:15SPEAKER_04: Yo, I look through this, I look through the window.
- 26:17SPEAKER_04: This guy's sitting there with his feet up, sleeping.
- 26:20SPEAKER_04: He's in the booth, he's in the studio with his feet up, sleeping, like, uh Yo, it's like two in the morning, bro.
- 26:27SPEAKER_05: Three in the morning.
- 26:28SPEAKER_04: I was in the studio, like, enough, get off, what are you doing?
- 26:30SPEAKER_04: Get on the turntables, bro.
- 26:32unknown: The mechanic's about to finish.
- 26:33SPEAKER_02: And that and that will be over here like you sound good, bro.
- 26:36SPEAKER_02: Keep going.
- 26:36SPEAKER_02: And that will so like showing up, showing up to the spots with E, like, yo, we we we had it, like, we had a thing.
- 26:44SPEAKER_02: Like, we show up, Craig set him up, me and Castal take pre-put the d and you know, Castle passed the record, enough zuga, zuger, I take the record, put it away.
- 26:53SPEAKER_02: Yo, we had a fucking like it was like it was it was ill because you would you would see the face.
- 26:59SPEAKER_03: I always I always wanted that.
- 27:00SPEAKER_03: I always I never had that.
- 27:01SPEAKER_04: I always wanted that.
- 27:02SPEAKER_04: It was great, and we'll be right back.
- 27:04SPEAKER_04: And now, back to the show.
- 27:06SPEAKER_04: And then what Eduff would do was like, he'll be like, he's like, all right, cool.
- 27:09SPEAKER_04: So here's how we're gonna play it, right?
- 27:11SPEAKER_04: Every party that he was DJing, he'll be like, when we get there, you get on first.
- 27:17SPEAKER_04: No matter who's DJing, you get on before.
- 27:20SPEAKER_04: So I we would come in the place, and no matter who was DJing, I have to be the person DJing after, played like two or three or four records, then enough would get on, right?
- 27:31SPEAKER_04: And you know, like I said, there's certain points in history that changes the trajectory of your life.
- 27:37SPEAKER_04: It was like no bullshit.
- 27:39SPEAKER_04: I give a lot of credit to Bugs.
- 27:40SPEAKER_04: It was meeting Bugs in school.
- 27:41SPEAKER_04: It was uh meeting enough.
- 27:44SPEAKER_04: But the one thing that I always remember was Bugs.
- 27:46SPEAKER_04: We had this club.
- 27:47SPEAKER_04: We had this bar.
- 27:48SPEAKER_04: Gleason's it was called Gleason's Gleason's bar in the BS.
- 27:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was.
- 27:54SPEAKER_04: Gleason's Gleason's.
- 27:55SPEAKER_04: This was like, yo, it was a straight up bar, right?
- 27:58SPEAKER_04: But it was also a club, and boy, it was rocking, bro.
- 28:01SPEAKER_04: Like Saturdays was rocking.
- 28:03SPEAKER_04: There'd be people in there like it was that.
- 28:05SPEAKER_04: This was like this had to be like a 99, 2000.
- 28:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, 9009, 2001, right?
- 28:11SPEAKER_04: It was all the way like on the frogs next side of the Bronx.
- 28:15SPEAKER_04: And I'm talking about like East Trimont.
- 28:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 28:17SPEAKER_04: Mind you, Camilo, this is this is a bar or like a like a like a Loho spot.
- 28:22SPEAKER_04: Sean Pecas will be in there, Enough will be in there, Nelson will be like a bunch of industry people would be in there.
- 28:28SPEAKER_04: Chris Green, like all the people will be in there, not because we were there, just because it was it was it was a BX spot.
- 28:34SPEAKER_04: I get it.
- 28:34SPEAKER_04: Yo, shout to uh shout to Sugar Bear.
- 28:36SPEAKER_04: Sugar Bear, my brother, yes.
- 28:38SPEAKER_04: Sugar Bear, Sugar Bear, the whole squad, Ray Rover.
- 28:40SPEAKER_04: Anyway, so we do the spot every Saturday, every Saturday night, right?
- 28:45SPEAKER_04: Me and Bugs get there, bring my own turntables, bring my own mixer ouch, bring, bring our records, set up at 10 o'clock, rock to four.
- 28:59SPEAKER_04: Me on the turntables, Bogs on the mic.
- 29:02SPEAKER_04: Sometimes beans, shout to DJ Beans, Beans would get on.
- 29:05SPEAKER_04: Yo, it was so crazy.
- 29:06SPEAKER_04: Sometimes Precise would come and get on, like random people will come and get on because it was such a good party, like it was fire, vibe, right?
- 29:11SPEAKER_04: And we had it every Saturday, every Saturday, every Saturday.
- 29:14SPEAKER_04: Now, mind you, we was getting peanuts, but it was$150 for the both of us.
- 29:18SPEAKER_04: It was peanuts, but it was it was our thing.
- 29:20SPEAKER_04: Like, you know, it was our it was our thing where everybody would come, it was popping.
- 29:23SPEAKER_04: So I remember Enough was there one night, right?
- 29:26SPEAKER_04: And Enough was like, yo, bro, next Saturday I need you with me because I'm doing whatever, whatever.
- 29:31SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, yo, bro, but you know, it's Saturday, I gotta do Gleason's.
- 29:35SPEAKER_04: He goes to me, yo, you can stay here and DJ Gleasons for the rest of your life, or you could come with me and live a different life.
- 29:44SPEAKER_02: You hear that?
- 29:46SPEAKER_04: And I was like, we ran the NBA.
- 29:51SPEAKER_02: I was like, and and and that is the first time Enough stole talent from my talent pool.
- 29:57SPEAKER_02: And I was and well, no, it was the first that I stole because you was there too.
- 30:02SPEAKER_02: You you came too.
- 30:05SPEAKER_02: It was a two for one you was getting.
- 30:07SPEAKER_04: Let's go.
- 30:08SPEAKER_04: And and let's say enough was right.
- 30:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah, let's go.
- 30:11SPEAKER_04: And we said we said, all right, cool, let's go.
- 30:12SPEAKER_04: We never look back.
- 30:13SPEAKER_04: We said, all right, let's rock and roll, we never look back.
- 30:16SPEAKER_04: And that was it, bro.
- 30:16SPEAKER_04: That was the beginning of yeah, you could have been a Gleason to this action.
- 30:21SPEAKER_02: I remember my first year doing Gleasons and all that.
- 30:24SPEAKER_02: That was my biggest flex that year.
- 30:26SPEAKER_02: Literally, I was like, I can bring you DJ Enough.
- 30:29SPEAKER_02: And they were like, No, you can't.
- 30:30SPEAKER_02: I was like, enough will be here.
- 30:32SPEAKER_02: Not only did he look out, he picked me up that day.
- 30:35SPEAKER_02: He hung out at the spa for over two hours.
- 30:38SPEAKER_02: He was just there doing nothing, just knowing that he was like, if I'm here, these guys are gonna eat even better.
- 30:44SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 30:45SPEAKER_02: So again, the only reason I add that to the story is because no matter what we do, this fucking amazing guy has a hand in it, no matter what.
- 30:53SPEAKER_02: And it always was.
- 30:54SPEAKER_03: Well, so we could say we could say Gleason was like your foundation, right?
- 30:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, when it came to like it became it was like the first thing we did outside of being in school, basically.
- 31:05SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 31:06SPEAKER_02: That was it right there.
- 31:07SPEAKER_02: And it worked, but Cass is right.
- 31:08SPEAKER_02: Once E was like either this or that, we were like, oh, Gleason's we love you, but we gotta go over there.
- 31:15SPEAKER_02: And then we go.
- 31:18SPEAKER_05: So Gleason's owners are gonna try to kill me now.
- 31:21SPEAKER_02: And then after that, me and Cass were like, are we gonna finish college or not?
- 31:25SPEAKER_02: No, we're gonna go with enough.
- 31:27SPEAKER_02: Like everything was that we're gonna go with enough.
- 31:31SPEAKER_02: No matter what.
- 31:32SPEAKER_02: Like, so we're getting this job.
- 31:34SPEAKER_02: No, we just gonna go to the station.
- 31:36SPEAKER_02: We're okay.
- 31:36SPEAKER_02: And look at life, man.
- 31:38SPEAKER_03: And into this very second, bro, it's all appreciated.
- 31:40SPEAKER_03: Yo, but but the the station and enough was probably the biggest internship you could ever take.
- 31:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it was so basic.
- 31:47SPEAKER_03: Enough basic internship, yeah, like straight up.
- 31:49SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 31:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 31:50unknown: Right.
- 31:51SPEAKER_04: And it was plenty of times where you could have been like, where we could have been like, all right, cool, man, we're gonna just go try do our own thing or whatever.
- 31:57SPEAKER_04: There was out you obviously we obviously could have made probably more money, probably whatever, but the actual, like, you know, like you're to your point, like lessons that we you learn from being around.
- 32:07SPEAKER_04: Like, there's things you learn that you would never know or understand how they work just from being around.
- 32:13SPEAKER_04: And that's by the way, now circling all the way back to enough and the heavy hitters, that's why it's so important and such a big part of just development, right?
- 32:21SPEAKER_04: So, like, if you have if the difference between like let's say me or Camillo or anybody else is just is is actually just knowledge and access and um can be given the ability to learn, right?
- 32:37SPEAKER_04: Which is kind of like what the heavy hitters, in a sense, to me is what it is, right?
- 32:41SPEAKER_04: Like it's it's like it's just that it's that internship where like a young DJ could reach out and be like, boom, I got access to Camillo, enough, cast one, oh books, I got access to this one, to that one.
- 32:51SPEAKER_04: Hey, I want to know how did this happen?
- 32:52SPEAKER_04: Boom, boom, bam, bam, bing, and you're good to roll, right?
- 32:55SPEAKER_04: Because it's hard nowadays to find like sometimes I not sometimes, a lot of times I feel for the younger DJs because it's hard to find that nowadays.
- 33:01SPEAKER_04: Because everything is so detached, everything is so like uh uh um telephone this, telephone that, me, me, this, me, me that.
- 33:09SPEAKER_04: And it's such a like shark eat shark world that it's hard to get that.
- 33:13SPEAKER_04: And it's hard to know where that is, right?
- 33:14SPEAKER_04: It's hard to know where the where you're the people that are actually gonna have.
- 33:24SPEAKER_03: That's true.
- 33:24SPEAKER_04: That's what there's things, there's things, there's inherent things that you can't learn on that you're not gonna be able to learn on.
- 33:34SPEAKER_04: No, there's a lot.
- 33:35SPEAKER_04: There's a lot, and there's a lot of things that I learned from them too.
- 33:38SPEAKER_03: But it's like, you know, just that access, the access is fired.
- 33:42SPEAKER_03: The experience, bro, just the experience is like the minute you, you know, enough throwing you in the middle of a hoftra party.
- 33:48SPEAKER_03: Like, what the fuck?
- 33:49SPEAKER_02: You can't get that on your own.
- 33:50SPEAKER_02: And to be clear, like that party and hoftra, it was like the it party.
- 33:55SPEAKER_02: Like, that was the one.
- 33:56SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 33:56SPEAKER_03: Like a thousand motherfuckers in front of you.
- 33:59SPEAKER_05: Like, that's yo, I had with him the headphones when it was like at the peak.
- 34:04SPEAKER_05: Like, the party's rocking.
- 34:06SPEAKER_05: Let's go, Kath.
- 34:06SPEAKER_05: Get on that.
- 34:08SPEAKER_05: He's playing be faithful, and be faithful is be faithful.
- 34:10SPEAKER_05: Yeah, but you know what, though?
- 34:12SPEAKER_05: Why would I be afraid of that?
- 34:14SPEAKER_05: He goes to the school.
- 34:16SPEAKER_05: He knows exactly where all his peers want to hear.
- 34:20SPEAKER_05: He goes there.
- 34:22SPEAKER_05: It's like, it now, if he didn't go there, it might have been a few.
- 34:24SPEAKER_02: Yo, E, like, but I stole that from me, Nub.
- 34:27SPEAKER_02: I stole that right there.
- 34:28SPEAKER_02: So forever in life, I've always kept like someone five years younger than me, someone my age, excuse me, someone five years older than me, because yo, we just teaching each other no matter what.
- 34:39SPEAKER_02: Like, no matter what, we're teaching each other, yo.
- 34:41SPEAKER_02: Like, like, and I don't think people catch it.
- 34:44SPEAKER_02: Look at me.
- 34:44SPEAKER_02: Like, I get fired on Monday, Saturday.
- 34:46SPEAKER_02: Nuff has me on the radio talking.
- 34:49SPEAKER_02: Like, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not in no union.
- 34:52SPEAKER_02: I don't even work there as an on-air personality.
- 34:54SPEAKER_02: You feel me?
- 34:55SPEAKER_02: But still got a trouble for that.
- 34:56SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 34:57SPEAKER_02: Hey, it is what it is.
- 34:58SPEAKER_02: And then he goes, he goes, yo, you know what?
- 35:00SPEAKER_02: Come host.
- 35:01SPEAKER_02: I was like, I'm he was like, no, you pick up the phones and you pick up the phones, but I'm gonna crack the mic.
- 35:06SPEAKER_02: I was like, I see what we're doing over here.
- 35:08SPEAKER_02: I see exactly where you're going with it.
- 35:10SPEAKER_03: You know, you know what's crazy?
- 35:11SPEAKER_03: I I I kind of copied that too, because when I was doing ticket to the streets, I was bringing Jug up, clicking the phone.
- 35:18SPEAKER_03: We were cracking the mic, we were getting on the phone with callers live.
- 35:21SPEAKER_03: Yo, strictly live, baby.
- 35:23SPEAKER_03: Strictly live.
- 35:24SPEAKER_03: Right, right, right.
- 35:26SPEAKER_02: I love that.
- 35:27SPEAKER_02: You're our cousin.
- 35:28SPEAKER_02: Right, right.
- 35:28SPEAKER_02: I love that right there.
- 35:29SPEAKER_02: And then you see those will always be our cousin.
- 35:31SPEAKER_02: And then you see what it is, too.
- 35:32SPEAKER_02: Like now you mentioned strictly live.
- 35:34SPEAKER_02: Like, some people don't get that.
- 35:35SPEAKER_02: Like when Camillo showed up to us, he already had his own thing already started, right?
- 35:40SPEAKER_02: Like strictly live, right?
- 35:41SPEAKER_02: He had that gone.
- 35:42SPEAKER_02: Uh Cass One didn't.
- 35:43SPEAKER_03: Those are my neighborhood guys.
- 35:44SPEAKER_03: Those are my neighborhood guys.
- 35:46SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 35:46SPEAKER_02: Like Cass One didn't have a music, blah dah, dah, dah, dah, that thing, but he already, like, we all had our own thing.
- 35:51SPEAKER_02: And it's to this day, people go, but how come?
- 35:53SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, see, when Camillo shut up, he was already strictly live.
- 35:56SPEAKER_02: So we basically stole that energy from them, but he had the liberty no matter what.
- 36:00SPEAKER_02: These my guys, bro.
- 36:01SPEAKER_02: Like, I can't lay these.
- 36:03SPEAKER_02: And even going back to Cass One, when he was like, yeah, but regardless, Mark is my guy from back in the day.
- 36:09SPEAKER_02: So like we all have that.
- 36:11SPEAKER_02: And I believe, like, when some people hit me up or hit y'all up from like another crew in the crew that they're in and go, how can I be done with your crew?
- 36:18SPEAKER_02: I'm like, you can't.
- 36:19SPEAKER_02: Because you're literally trying to leave another crew to come to us.
- 36:23SPEAKER_02: I always felt weird about that.
- 36:24SPEAKER_02: I feel so weird when people do that.
- 36:26SPEAKER_05: Always felt weird about that.
- 36:27SPEAKER_02: I feel I've always felt weird and that automatically disqualifies you.
- 36:30SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 36:31SPEAKER_02: Like Camillo showed up saying, yo, but regardless, these are my guys, bro.
- 36:35SPEAKER_02: We were like, fat, let's do it.
- 36:37SPEAKER_02: Because it makes sense.
- 36:38SPEAKER_02: Because that's part of your foundation.
- 36:40SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 36:41SPEAKER_02: Shit.
- 36:41SPEAKER_02: But like facts.
- 36:43SPEAKER_02: Yo, so E, E, when you look at all of this, obviously we all got 20 plus year stories of all of this.
- 36:48SPEAKER_02: Like, do you sit there and like right now you go, man, I knew Cass was nice.
- 36:52SPEAKER_02: Fuck out of here.
- 36:53SPEAKER_02: But did it take you really a minute to trust this guy, bro?
- 36:56SPEAKER_05: Nah, Cass was always nice.
- 36:58SPEAKER_05: I knew it.
- 36:58SPEAKER_05: I felt it.
- 37:00SPEAKER_05: There's a certain energy you guys were doing, you know, that you had when you guys were performing.
- 37:04SPEAKER_05: I was like, these guys are nice.
- 37:06SPEAKER_05: Like, there was a moment I think you guys were like, I don't know if you guys had an argument or something.
- 37:11SPEAKER_05: And then because you guys were a duo.
- 37:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 37:14SPEAKER_05: Like literally a duo.
- 37:15SPEAKER_05: Everywhere Boogs was at, Cass was at, vice versa.
- 37:19SPEAKER_05: And then I started to see you guys separate.
- 37:21SPEAKER_05: It could have been the station, it could have been not, it could have been whatever.
- 37:24SPEAKER_05: And then I was like, I remember having a conversation with both of y'all, and I was like, yo, you guys are dope on your own, but you guys are better together.
- 37:31SPEAKER_05: I don't know if you guys remember that conversation.
- 37:33SPEAKER_03: When y'all were together, when y'all were together, was it because Cass One wasn't on the mic?
- 37:40SPEAKER_03: No, I'm gonna be real, bro.
- 37:41SPEAKER_04: It just worked.
- 37:42SPEAKER_04: Like, it just worked.
- 37:44SPEAKER_04: It just it kind of well, first of all, no, I wasn't I wasn't big on the mic.
- 37:48SPEAKER_04: I wasn't big on the mic.
- 37:49SPEAKER_04: But it's not even that.
- 37:50SPEAKER_04: It was more like um like we we were doing radio together.
- 37:54SPEAKER_04: We were doing college radio together, so it kind of was like a natural thing, right?
- 37:57SPEAKER_04: It was kind of like a natural thing.
- 37:58SPEAKER_04: Plus, he was already that.
- 38:00SPEAKER_04: He was already a host, already doing that.
- 38:02SPEAKER_04: Was the thing that he was always doing, and I was already a DJ, it wasn't that I was already doing, and I was like, whoa, he's great at that.
- 38:09SPEAKER_04: And I'm great at that.
- 38:10SPEAKER_04: Good at this, and it worked out really when I worked out.
- 38:12SPEAKER_02: They were like, we didn't even we didn't even have a combo.
- 38:14SPEAKER_02: It wasn't even a plan, it was just like, yo, let's just do this.
- 38:18SPEAKER_03: What when I would watch El Boogs and Precise together, yeah, they had a chemistry too.
- 38:24SPEAKER_04: They had a chemistry too.
- 38:25SPEAKER_04: Oh, bro.
- 38:25SPEAKER_04: There were certain people that Boogs was was good with.
- 38:28SPEAKER_03: Precise was one of them.
- 38:29SPEAKER_03: Yo, that peep on Sunday nights, L Boogs and Precise.
- 38:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I you know, I get on after them and be like, these two motherfuckers.
- 38:38SPEAKER_02: And and I I love Camillo here, but it was also like, damn, B, I want to be on at 2 o'clock too.
- 38:44SPEAKER_02: I want to be on that too.
- 38:45SPEAKER_02: So I would, after a while, I'd be like, yo, for the 30 minutes, we gonna cook till we get to two o'clock.
- 38:50SPEAKER_02: And it was also like Camillo can't gonna be here on no, you know what I mean?
- 38:54SPEAKER_02: Like, we had to hand off the party at like an eight and wait for Camilla to knock those two to get to the 10.
- 39:00SPEAKER_02: Like, yo, my man, I was I I I never wanted to lead into Camillo like on some boring shit ever.
- 39:06SPEAKER_03: Like, cause I knew the pre- Yo, that was that was one of my favorite parties ever in life.
- 39:10SPEAKER_03: Sunday nights at deep.
- 39:12SPEAKER_03: Like to this day, like, what kill what defeats that?
- 39:15SPEAKER_03: Like a lot of things defeated, but it was one of those, bro.
- 39:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that was a great party.
- 39:20SPEAKER_02: Elbows and precise, like Nah, it was amazing, bro.
- 39:23SPEAKER_02: It was amazing.
- 39:23SPEAKER_02: But like good times, but like anyway, the reason I brought up Cast today is because like at the end of the day, there's so many things with this story of Cast One and the heavier isn't like enough set.
- 39:32SPEAKER_02: Did you guys stop at one point?
- 39:34SPEAKER_02: No, it was literally, I love this guy.
- 39:36SPEAKER_02: He's like my real life friend.
- 39:37SPEAKER_02: We don't have to talk to each other every day at all.
- 39:39SPEAKER_02: Like, we don't even have to talk to each other.
- 39:41SPEAKER_02: Like, literally, I'll call Cast one there, be like, fam, you ain't even tell me about how you deal with this water heater shit at the crib, fam.
- 39:49SPEAKER_02: Why you never told me?
- 39:50SPEAKER_02: They'd be like, oh, wait a minute, sir.
- 39:52SPEAKER_02: This and I'm like, so it's like no matter what, however, Cass took a left or I took a right, like I always said, like, we never, we never, we never even had a conversation that we just knew like we were gonna grow together, and at the same time, we're gonna grow separately.
- 40:07SPEAKER_02: But hey, yo, let's go do this bet.
- 40:09SPEAKER_02: And it's it's it's like a no-brainer, bro.
- 40:11SPEAKER_02: Like, it's just so easy to work.
- 40:13SPEAKER_02: Like you guys said, like a precise, etc.
- 40:15SPEAKER_02: But like I just wanted people to get a feel of the cast one story.
- 40:19SPEAKER_02: A person who didn't want to be here, and after he arrived there, has completely a lot of people.
- 40:23SPEAKER_02: Hey, hey, it didn't, didn't is weird.
- 40:26SPEAKER_02: Didn't not didn't, just didn't know.
- 40:28SPEAKER_05: No, it just didn't.
- 40:28SPEAKER_05: No, it's it didn't.
- 40:30SPEAKER_05: Because there was times you didn't want to do shit at all.
- 40:32SPEAKER_05: I remember.
- 40:33SPEAKER_05: It didn't.
- 40:33SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it's all your fault.
- 40:34SPEAKER_05: If it wasn't for you, I it wasn't your guys' fault.
- 40:36SPEAKER_05: I'll probably be a doctor or something right now.
- 40:38SPEAKER_05: No, your wife?
- 40:40SPEAKER_05: Hold on.
- 40:40SPEAKER_05: Your wife, before she was your girlfriend, I mean, when she was your girlfriend, everybody around was like, mm-mm.
- 40:48SPEAKER_05: You know why?
- 40:49SPEAKER_05: Because she wanted you to live away.
- 40:51SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 40:52SPEAKER_05: She wanted, you know, she's not counting.
- 40:55SPEAKER_04: She's she's she gets it.
- 40:56SPEAKER_04: She wants this.
- 40:57SPEAKER_04: Everybody, everybody thinks that, but that's not the case at all.
- 41:00SPEAKER_04: She was actually my biggest supporter.
- 41:02SPEAKER_04: Of course.
- 41:03SPEAKER_04: No, you're like, yeah, yeah, no, but we're not.
- 41:06SPEAKER_04: But people think that's a good thing.
- 41:08SPEAKER_05: But the important wife.
- 41:11SPEAKER_05: I'm just saying.
- 41:12SPEAKER_05: She probably was like, what the hell are you doing with this DJ shit?
- 41:16SPEAKER_05: Come on, Pop.
- 41:17SPEAKER_05: Everybody does that.
- 41:18SPEAKER_05: If we, DJ's girlfriend, fiance, wife, at one point, at one time said, yo, this shit gotta stop, bro.
- 41:26SPEAKER_05: It's either me or it's what the fuck?
- 41:28SPEAKER_05: Is it the the turntables?
- 41:29SPEAKER_05: You love the turntables more than you love me.
- 41:32SPEAKER_05: That's that's the real talk.
- 41:33SPEAKER_05: And then we have to as men, we have to learn how to balance it.
- 41:36SPEAKER_02: But this is what I love about the crew.
- 41:38SPEAKER_02: Like, no matter what, we each have a story, but it goes back to a personal to tie it to that, no matter what.
- 41:43SPEAKER_03: Fast forward to 2026.
- 41:45SPEAKER_03: Cass was the only person that I know that's been to Antarctica.
- 41:51SPEAKER_03: This motherfucker has traveled the world like I have never seen nobody been in Vietnam.
- 41:57SPEAKER_03: That's a fact.
- 41:58SPEAKER_03: Um, was it Iceland or Sweden or all three of them.
- 42:03SPEAKER_03: Yo, he's been to the North Pole, South Pole, all pole.
- 42:07SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 42:07SPEAKER_03: Anybody's been to Antarctica, like and who the f goes to Antarctica?
- 42:10SPEAKER_04: Science is like, but again, this is this I I people give me credit for this, but this is all my wife's ideas.
- 42:16SPEAKER_04: This is not my ideas.
- 42:17SPEAKER_04: I just I just tag along.
- 42:18SPEAKER_04: But it just happens from a lot of that.
- 42:22SPEAKER_03: Because who the fuck jumps into into the water in Antarctica?
- 42:26SPEAKER_03: Jumps in the water.
- 42:27SPEAKER_04: So I look at it like this, bro.
- 42:32SPEAKER_04: You all you you literally have one shot, bro.
- 42:35SPEAKER_04: You have one like my my parents, my parents literally have only been to MS New York City, New York City, and DR.
- 42:44SPEAKER_04: New York City and DR, right?
- 42:45SPEAKER_04: And it's just like that's most of my families is New York City and DR.
- 42:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 42:49SPEAKER_04: And it's just like, what you see that there's so much more to see and so much more to do is wow, bro.
- 42:53SPEAKER_04: Like, I took my mom to Egypt.
- 42:55SPEAKER_04: My mom was like, wow, this is amazing.
- 42:58SPEAKER_04: This is crazy.
- 42:58SPEAKER_04: I took I took my mom to the pyramids, bro.
- 43:00SPEAKER_02: Like, that's crazy.
- 43:01SPEAKER_02: That's legendary, you know, right?
- 43:04SPEAKER_02: So, like, I love that.

- 43:20SPEAKER_04: It's gonna happen, it's going up on YouTube this week.
- 43:22SPEAKER_04: It's not part of this deal.
- 43:24SPEAKER_02: This is my own bang.
- 43:26SPEAKER_02: Cass.

- 44:54SPEAKER_00: Like that.
- 44:55SPEAKER_00: Enough sat there.
- 44:56SPEAKER_00: Like it's if I excuse me, remember, you know my crew.
- 45:00SPEAKER_00: You know B.I.
- 45:01SPEAKER_00: You remember Murder, Leaky, True Fall of them.
- 45:04SPEAKER_00: He sat there with me like he was one of them.
- 45:06SPEAKER_00: While writing the rhyme, yeah, that's it.
- 45:08SPEAKER_00: Yo, E, what you think?

- 45:15SPEAKER_00: When played it for Jay, Jay, like, that's the single.
- 45:17SPEAKER_00: We putting that out.
- 45:18SPEAKER_00: E there.

- 45:23SPEAKER_00: Nah, that's not that's it.
- 45:24SPEAKER_00: Don't mind me.
- 45:25SPEAKER_00: He ain't played the record once.
- 45:27SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 45:28SPEAKER_00: I never, ever asked him either.
- 45:31SPEAKER_00: You know, I see them and never say, yo, bro, yo, you walk me off the plank in New York City.
- 45:36SPEAKER_00: Left me for that.
- 45:38SPEAKER_00: I gotta bring him up here.
- 45:39SPEAKER_00: I got to.
- 45:40SPEAKER_00: I want to.
- 45:41SPEAKER_00: I'm mad it went the way it went, because then now people think I'm gonna interview them for that.
- 45:45SPEAKER_00: But nah, I need answers from back in the day.
- 45:47SPEAKER_06: That's why I like the guy play.
- 45:49SPEAKER_06: You helped me make it.
- 45:56SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 45:56SPEAKER_05: You know, calling me the is this true?
- 45:59SPEAKER_05: Could be.
- 46:01SPEAKER_05: Nah, it's not.
- 46:02SPEAKER_05: That's a hot record.
- 46:03SPEAKER_05: It's not, it's not, hold on, y'all.
- 46:06SPEAKER_05: I don't know what he means by I never played it.
- 46:08SPEAKER_05: He's bugging if he said I never played it.
- 46:10SPEAKER_06: You said you might say.
- 46:12SPEAKER_05: Maybe you hadn't played as much as he would like me to play it.
- 46:15SPEAKER_05: You definitely played it.
- 46:16SPEAKER_05: Because I was a big play.
- 46:23SPEAKER_05: That could happen, because I do that all the time.
- 46:24SPEAKER_05: That happens in real life.
- 46:25SPEAKER_05: We gotta be human.
- 46:26SPEAKER_02: We gotta get the bleak and see all.
- 46:28SPEAKER_05: Look, keep this, y'all.
- 46:30SPEAKER_05: Let's put it all to bed.
- 46:31SPEAKER_05: What plaque is this?
- 46:33SPEAKER_05: The plaque everybody wants.
- 46:35SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 46:35SPEAKER_05: I like it.
- 46:36SPEAKER_05: Hold on.
- 46:37SPEAKER_05: See it says there?
- 46:38SPEAKER_05: Stevie enough.
- 46:40SPEAKER_05: Right?
- 46:41SPEAKER_05: Right here.
- 46:41SPEAKER_05: Memphis bleak.
- 46:43SPEAKER_05: Memphis bleak.
- 46:44SPEAKER_05: You don't get that from not playing Memphis Bleak.
- 46:47SPEAKER_05: You get it for supporting Memphis Bleak.
- 46:50SPEAKER_05: I mean, damn, he's number two in the crew.
- 46:52SPEAKER_05: It's like Jade and Bleak, and then then everybody else came.
- 46:55SPEAKER_05: How you don't support Memphis?
- 46:56SPEAKER_02: I'm not gonna lie, I didn't expect that to be the end of the story from Bleak 100%.
- 47:05SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 47:05SPEAKER_05: Now he killed me with that, but I liked it because it's it's honest.
- 47:08SPEAKER_05: And if that's the if that's the way he felt, then okay.
- 47:11SPEAKER_05: I I get it.
- 47:12SPEAKER_04: But okay, so you you were in the studio when they made the record, right?
- 47:16SPEAKER_04: You're in the studio when they made the record, and then the record gets made, and then he puts it out.
- 47:21SPEAKER_04: He gives it to you, or he says that he gave it to you.
- 47:23SPEAKER_04: And he was probably expecting you to go out there and be like, yo, uh, new Memphis bleak, blah, blah, blah and go crazy.
- 47:29SPEAKER_04: This is vinyl days, bro.
- 47:30SPEAKER_04: They know.
- 47:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but maybe you know, maybe he expects you to go crazy and we gotta remember, like back then, you could only just tune in.
- 47:39SPEAKER_03: There was no really like texting and this, yo, you got me.
- 47:43SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 47:43SPEAKER_05: And that's also who's to say I ain't get the the tap on my shoulder from the higher ups because maybe Jay did something to foul.
- 47:53SPEAKER_05: Right, right, right, right, right.
- 47:55SPEAKER_05: It's always something back and forth.
- 47:56SPEAKER_02: But it's like that.
- 47:59SPEAKER_05: Yo, that was a hard problem.
- 48:02SPEAKER_05: Because in the podcast I I've said a podcast clip.
- 48:05SPEAKER_05: In the podcast clip he says, you know, when Jay's when Jay said, If the if if I don't do your show, um what he says?
- 48:14SPEAKER_05: What I don't give a shit.
- 48:15SPEAKER_05: Some uh problems where but one of one of them joined.
- 48:19SPEAKER_05: So it could have been that.
- 48:21SPEAKER_05: You know, but for bleak and the rest of them, I I'm sure Summer Jam meant everything to them back in those days.
- 48:27SPEAKER_05: You know, maybe on Holes Tip, yo, I did it six summers.
- 48:30SPEAKER_05: So how much more you want me to keep doing this this concert?
- 48:33SPEAKER_05: I can't keep holding you down.
- 48:35SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 48:37SPEAKER_04: Nah, hold on, bro.
- 48:38SPEAKER_04: I gotta, I gotta, I gotta get to it, man.
- 48:40SPEAKER_04: Yo, Bleak, man.
- 48:41SPEAKER_04: From the way I hear it, E Cole produced that record, bro.
- 48:45unknown: Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go.
- 48:47SPEAKER_04: Let's go.
- 48:47SPEAKER_04: He called you.
- 48:48SPEAKER_04: You're like, yo, this is a record.
- 48:49SPEAKER_04: Yo, E, you executive produced that record, bro.
- 48:52SPEAKER_05: What's the wisdom?
- 48:53SPEAKER_05: Where's the points on that?
- 48:54SPEAKER_05: I was producing records at that time.
- 48:56SPEAKER_05: I was with Swiss.
- 48:58SPEAKER_05: We were doing, we were working on um We were just banging out stuff on the MP, and Swiss was playing me joints.
- 49:04SPEAKER_05: He had for Cassidy.
- 49:06SPEAKER_05: This was during his full surface run.
- 49:08SPEAKER_05: And I just happened to be in the studio.
- 49:09SPEAKER_05: That's all it was.
- 49:10SPEAKER_05: Okay, okay.
- 49:11SPEAKER_05: Yo, three o'clock in the morning?
- 49:12SPEAKER_05: Come on, bro.
- 49:14SPEAKER_05: But it it's all love.
- 49:15SPEAKER_05: It's all love with EMF is the one.
- 49:17SPEAKER_05: You know why I most love?
- 49:18SPEAKER_05: I try to catch a cab.
- 49:20SPEAKER_05: This is before Uber, y'all.
- 49:22SPEAKER_05: I think I was going to the office.
- 49:23SPEAKER_05: I was working at Def Jam at the time.
- 49:25SPEAKER_05: I was on 6th Avenue, literally after the station.
- 49:29SPEAKER_05: I walked from the station to West 4th.
- 49:31SPEAKER_05: I'm on West 4th and 6th Avenue trying to catch a cab in New York City.
- 49:35SPEAKER_05: Hottest DJ in New York, I can't even catch a cab.
- 49:38SPEAKER_05: Memphis Bleak pulls up and he's in a car.
- 49:40SPEAKER_05: I don't know if he's with people, whatever.
- 49:43SPEAKER_05: Yo, E, where you going?
- 49:44SPEAKER_05: I'm trying to go to this to the label.
- 49:47SPEAKER_05: He's like, I'll give you a lift, but the car's dirty.
- 49:50SPEAKER_05: So I was like, I'll I'll wait for, I'll wait for, I'll wait for my ride.
- 49:54SPEAKER_05: Y'all go ahead.
- 49:55SPEAKER_05: So when you do that, you have respect.
- 49:57SPEAKER_05: That's a lot of love, man.
- 49:58SPEAKER_05: How you hate that?
- 49:59SPEAKER_05: That's love.
- 50:00SPEAKER_05: Thank you.
- 50:01SPEAKER_02: But it happens and it happens here and it happens there and it happens everywhere.
- 50:04SPEAKER_02: And that plaque back there says you played the goddamn record a few times.
- 50:08SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 50:09SPEAKER_02: But look, I mean, we're gonna tap in again for the next episode of Heavy Hitter Podcast.
- 50:13SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 50:14SPEAKER_02: And uh now the world knows the Cast One Juan Show uh introduction to DJ enough for that.
- 50:20SPEAKER_02: What is it that they say the rest is history, right?
- 50:22SPEAKER_02: We here.
- 50:23SPEAKER_02: And and for the record, if enough needs uh coffee and a bacon, egg and cheese, we still go get it.
- 50:29SPEAKER_02: So ain't no problem with that on this side, you heard?
- 50:32SPEAKER_02: And uh what we need to tell the people to do, they need to tap in, they need to subscribe and all that, right?
- 50:37SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 50:37SPEAKER_02: They need to spread the news that the uh follow us.
- 50:40SPEAKER_02: That the heavier podcast is pop.
- 50:42SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
