- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: It's the almost famous podcast. Yes, we are back. We
- 0:10Speaker 2: are excited. We have a ton of energy. Why you asked, Well,
- 0:13Speaker 2: because there's amazing Bachelor television on TV every week. That's
- 0:18Speaker 2: keeping us talking and keeping you interested.
- 0:21Speaker 3: You mean, very very high ratings news. Actually that should
- 0:26Speaker 3: be our number one hot topic.
- 0:28Speaker 4: The Bachelor.
- 0:29Speaker 3: The Golden Bachelor is really reviving this franchise in the
- 0:33Speaker 3: way that we kind of predicted that it would. It
- 0:36Speaker 3: seems as if when you combined streaming and DVR and
- 0:42Speaker 3: like all of it, that it got over seven million
- 0:46Speaker 3: viewers this week, which amazing that this is hard.
- 0:49Speaker 2: To do nowadays and network television. I just want to
- 0:52Speaker 2: I just want to be clear that seven million viewers
- 0:56Speaker 2: are similar numbers to what we saw in like the
- 0:59Speaker 2: twenty fourteen through twenty sixteen.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Yes to that, like your season, my season, I think
- 1:05Speaker 3: it was like the seven to nine million range.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, it was. And you know, we've talked about
- 1:13Speaker 2: it many times. Actually, right, we've been criticized because we've
- 1:16Speaker 2: been down on the show. We've been celebrated because we've
- 1:20Speaker 2: been down on the show at times. You know, We've
- 1:23Speaker 2: had our questions about where is this show going, what
- 1:26Speaker 2: is this show going to do to turn itself around?
- 1:28Speaker 3: And found it.
- 1:29Speaker 2: I feel like they've found it. You know, there's reasons
- 1:34Speaker 2: why viewership has dropped dramatically over the last few years.
- 1:38Speaker 2: One of those reasons is just that people aren't watching
- 1:41Speaker 2: television like they used to. You know, there's so many options,
- 1:43Speaker 2: there's so many things to tune in. There's so many
- 1:46Speaker 2: reality shows now and back in the day, you know,
- 1:48Speaker 2: The Bachelor was really the one and only, and so
- 1:52Speaker 2: that was one reason. The other one was, you know,
- 1:54Speaker 2: our critiques of hey, where's this show going, Why are
- 1:56Speaker 2: the storylines feeling so kind of like bland, Why are
- 2:00Speaker 2: these people coming on the show maybe so forgettable post
- 2:03Speaker 2: show and they're not the big characters that we remember seeing.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Yeah, and then when.
- 2:08Speaker 2: They announced the Golden Bachelor three years ago that they
- 2:10Speaker 2: were going to start doing it, you and I both
- 2:12Speaker 2: were on the same page, where like, this.
- 2:14Speaker 4: This could be it, like this is a big deal.
- 2:16Speaker 4: It's pulling it.
- 2:17Speaker 2: And and here's the reason we've never really spoke about this.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I think the reason why you and I both believed
- 2:22Speaker 2: in it one great concept, good feeling show. Kids can
- 2:27Speaker 2: watch it, you know, parents can watch it, that kind
- 2:30Speaker 2: of thing. The other part is it pulls back a
- 2:33Speaker 2: demo that grew up raising their kids watching this show.
- 2:37Speaker 2: You know, like when when moms and dads would put
- 2:40Speaker 2: their kids to bed, you know that age range twenty
- 2:44Speaker 2: years ago when it started, some of these people that
- 2:46Speaker 2: are on The Golden Bachelor were in their forties and
- 2:49Speaker 2: late thirties, and so it's pulling those people back in
- 2:51Speaker 2: to say, I'm familiar with the show.
- 2:53Speaker 4: I like this show.
- 2:54Speaker 2: I want to watch this show again, and it reminds
- 2:56Speaker 2: me of what I used to have. And then the
- 2:59Speaker 2: thing that's kind of shocked to me, and I want
- 3:00Speaker 2: to hear your opinion on this. I'm a little bit surprised.
- 3:04Speaker 2: I knew the older generation would tune in. I'm a
- 3:06Speaker 2: little bit surprised with the reaction of this younger generation,
- 3:10Speaker 2: the people in their twenties and like twenties really that
- 3:13Speaker 2: stopped watching the show, that are now tuning back in
- 3:16Speaker 2: and so into the Golden Bachelor.
- 3:18Speaker 3: I think this sounds weird. I think young people love
- 3:22Speaker 3: old people. I think they think they're adorable, and once
- 3:26Speaker 3: you get above their parents' age, where if like you're
- 3:29Speaker 3: in your twenties. These people are probably a little bit
- 3:32Speaker 3: older than your parents. You just think of them in
- 3:34Speaker 3: a very endearing sense.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Well, and I think another aspect is you're bringing back
- 3:39Speaker 2: the fantasy of it all, where you know, back in
- 3:42Speaker 2: the day when you'd watch The Bachelor, you'd watch these
- 3:44Speaker 2: characters I did, and you'd say, wow, like I can
- 3:48Speaker 2: relate with this love story. I hope to one day
- 3:50Speaker 2: have a love story like this. You know, you're kind
- 3:53Speaker 2: of looking at their fashion and how like how they're
- 3:56Speaker 2: navigating their lives. And we got to where we were
- 4:00Speaker 2: watching The Bachelor and Bachelor and the people are in
- 4:01Speaker 2: their twenties, we're all older than them, and we're like, well,
- 4:03Speaker 2: we've already been there, right, Like, stop complaining that your
- 4:06Speaker 2: heart is broken. It's gonna happen.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Like it's gonna it's gonna happen, and guess what, it's
- 4:10Speaker 3: not a big deal because you will rebound and you're
- 4:13Speaker 3: beautiful and you'll find someone.
- 4:15Speaker 2: But now we're watching this and I'm watching and I'm
- 4:19Speaker 2: learning from not only Gary but the contestants on the
- 4:23Speaker 2: on the on the show right now saying I'm learning
- 4:27Speaker 2: from their wisdom. I'm learning from their life experience. I'm
- 4:29Speaker 2: learning how they've dealt with really terrible grief and pain
- 4:33Speaker 2: and what they still want in life after that grief
- 4:36Speaker 2: and pain has happened to them, and how they hold
- 4:38Speaker 2: that on. I've also learned about some of the conversations
- 4:42Speaker 2: that they have in the midst of that grief and
- 4:44Speaker 2: pain about their old loved ones. And we're gonna dive
- 4:47Speaker 2: way into the Golden Bachelor, but I think it's a
- 4:50Speaker 2: big deal to kind of highlight this.
- 4:52Speaker 3: Is a sex, this is sex the success of the show.
- 4:56Speaker 3: It is Hulu's number one premiere show, So like to
- 5:01Speaker 3: explain that better of all like new shows that end
- 5:05Speaker 3: up making their way to you to Hulu like the
- 5:07Speaker 3: next day. In the history of Hulu, they've never had
- 5:12Speaker 3: a show have its first episode get as many views
- 5:16Speaker 3: in one week or within a certain timeframe than The
- 5:19Speaker 3: Golden Bachelor, which is huge. And then it's so it
- 5:22Speaker 3: was at number one on Hulu for quite a few days.
- 5:24Speaker 3: I'm not sure if it still is. And following it
- 5:27Speaker 3: on that top ten chart was Bachelor in Paradise. I
- 5:31Speaker 3: do think that Paradise this season, you'll see it was.
- 5:33Speaker 3: It was amazing, it was amazingly not good, because the
- 5:36Speaker 3: drop off rate from the Golden Bachelor audience in live
- 5:40Speaker 3: time on Thursday night to Paradise was fifty percent. Fifty
- 5:44Speaker 3: percent of people dropped off. I do think though, that
- 5:48Speaker 3: the nine to eleven timeframe is making people be like,
- 5:51Speaker 3: I'm gonna watch it the next day and then I
- 5:54Speaker 3: also think that it's more of a bingie show. I
- 5:58Speaker 3: think that The Golden Bachelor is going to feel more
- 6:00Speaker 3: of like you must see live TV, like a sports
- 6:03Speaker 3: live the way that we've watched The Bachelor with viewing
- 6:06Speaker 3: parties and such in the past, and Bachelor in Paradise
- 6:09Speaker 3: is more of like the oh, I'm going to catch up,
- 6:11Speaker 3: I'll binge a couple episodes in type show. And I
- 6:15Speaker 3: know they don't get like exact numbers from Hulu, which
- 6:17Speaker 3: is really unfortunate and like any other streaming services, because
- 6:21Speaker 3: I just find like Nielsen rittings very interesting, but they're
- 6:25Speaker 3: just so archaic now because they do not do justice
- 6:28Speaker 3: to how much the show has watched. Anyway, As a
- 6:30Speaker 3: Bachelor fan and as somebody who whose whole life I
- 6:35Speaker 3: can I really need to credit to like Bachelor in Paradise,
- 6:39Speaker 3: I hope that the show is doing better than it
- 6:42Speaker 3: so seemed based on Nielsen ratings on Thursday night.
- 6:45Speaker 2: You can assume that the producers behind The Bachelor are
- 6:49Speaker 2: in meetings right now asking themselves, what are we learning
- 6:53Speaker 2: from the success of the show, What do we need
- 6:55Speaker 2: to do to capitalize on this? Where does our other
- 6:58Speaker 2: shows need to kind of change? What do viewers want,
- 7:02Speaker 2: desire and need in this new kind of era of television.
- 7:07Speaker 2: It feels exciting to me, Ashley. I sit down at
- 7:09Speaker 2: the mic getting to talk to you, and I'm excited
- 7:12Speaker 2: again because I feel like we're talking about a show
- 7:15Speaker 2: that I'll go as far as say is on the
- 7:19Speaker 2: cutting edge of probably new programming. Meaning is what are
- 7:23Speaker 2: we as viewers right now want to watch? And we're
- 7:27Speaker 2: gonna again We'll dive into the Golden Bachelor. We'll break
- 7:29Speaker 2: it all down this last episode, episode two of Gary season.
- 7:34Speaker 4: Actually, we have some other headlines to get to. One
- 7:36Speaker 4: of them.
- 7:36Speaker 2: I have no clue what it's about, and we need
- 7:39Speaker 2: you to explain it to us. You are heading out
- 7:42Speaker 2: to la to do at Hertford event. We've kind of
- 7:46Speaker 2: mentioned it a few weeks ago. I think I asked you,
- 7:48Speaker 2: what in the world is this explain it to us.
- 7:51Speaker 2: It's on October eighteenth at five pm. It's live at
- 7:55Speaker 2: the iHeart Theater in Los Angeles. It's called the Secret
- 7:59Speaker 2: of My six sas you have some great guests joining you,
- 8:02Speaker 2: or you'll be joining them. I don't know how that works,
- 8:05Speaker 2: but what is this thing?
- 8:06Speaker 3: Okay? So I'm doing an event. It's live in a theater,
- 8:09Speaker 3: the iHeartRadio Theater in Los Angeles, or you can also
- 8:12Speaker 3: stream it online. There're two different tickets, one for online
- 8:16Speaker 3: and one for in person. It's October eighteenth at five
- 8:19Speaker 3: pm and it's really cool. So it's going to be
- 8:22Speaker 3: with Tyler, Florence Wells Adams, Jenny Garth, Tory Spelling, and
- 8:26Speaker 3: Bethany Frankel. And it's called the Secret of My Success.
- 8:29Speaker 3: There's no business like small business. So everybody there owns
- 8:33Speaker 3: their own small business and we're going to talk about
- 8:37Speaker 3: how we've made them successful. And it's going to be
- 8:42Speaker 3: kind of like an inspirational conversation amongst us all having
- 8:48Speaker 3: passion projects that we were able to make a successful business.
- 8:52Speaker 3: And it's presented by Hartford Insurance. We're all really excited
- 8:55Speaker 3: to be there and to give our two cents onto
- 8:58Speaker 3: how to be an entrepreneur.
- 9:00Speaker 4: I'll be tuning in. Sounds awesome.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Well, recently we've had Beca Martinez on our episode. Beca
- 9:16Speaker 2: Martinez was talking about being a mom, living and functioning
- 9:22Speaker 2: in a beautiful relationship with Grayston.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Becca.
- 9:28Speaker 2: We want to celebrate today because Becca has announced that
- 9:32Speaker 2: she has given birth to her third baby with fiance Grayston.
- 9:36Speaker 2: This according to page six. Ashley give us the details.
- 9:40Speaker 3: The baby was born on Grayston's birthday, which is pretty awesome,
- 9:43Speaker 3: September twenty eighth, and we know, Beca, the baby was
- 9:47Speaker 3: born at home. It's a boy. She didn't know until
- 9:51Speaker 3: he was born, but she had a very much a
- 9:53Speaker 3: gut feeling that it was a boy, and she birthed
- 9:56Speaker 3: him on the toilets. I think it was more of
- 10:01Speaker 3: like a Ben's face. So Becca is all about at
- 10:05Speaker 3: home berths. She delivered the other two in the you know,
- 10:10Speaker 3: the birthing tub, and this baby, we've seen pictures of
- 10:14Speaker 3: her laboring in the shower, and we also saw pictures
- 10:19Speaker 3: of her on the toilet. But it's a little the
- 10:23Speaker 3: vagina area is blurred, and she she said that her
- 10:27Speaker 3: midwife almost didn't catch the baby when it was delivered
- 10:30Speaker 3: on the toilet. I think the toilet was supposed to
- 10:33Speaker 3: give her a certain like position to get the baby out.
- 10:37Speaker 4: I don't I'm not. I don't claim to know a
- 10:39Speaker 4: lot about childbirth, but I've never heard of that.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Normally, when babies are born on the toilet, it's in
- 10:46Speaker 3: an episode of I Didn't Know I was pregnant and
- 10:48Speaker 3: the mom thinks that she has a huge poop coming
- 10:51Speaker 3: and it's actually a baby. But in this case, she
- 10:54Speaker 3: was very much prepared for a baby to come out
- 10:56Speaker 3: of her and her midwife was there. We don't know
- 11:00Speaker 3: all the details because we don't subscribe to Beca Martinez
- 11:04Speaker 3: is Patreon, which I feel like I really need to
- 11:08Speaker 3: do just to hear a birth story. She's so interesting
- 11:10Speaker 3: when she tells these birth stories. It is her third
- 11:13Speaker 3: her two other kids, Ruth is four and her son
- 11:16Speaker 3: Franklin is three, and she says that she has the
- 11:20Speaker 3: entire story up on her Patreon now, so I mean,
- 11:22Speaker 3: maybe I need to be a good host of this
- 11:26Speaker 3: podcast and sign up for a Patreon.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Well, you do love following her too, she is one
- 11:30Speaker 2: of your favorite saying and so she's.
- 11:33Speaker 3: So interesting because I would never ever birth a baby
- 11:36Speaker 3: at home. Well, because she and I are so different
- 11:40Speaker 3: in so many ways.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Yeah, she's always a great guest too, and she's always
- 11:45Speaker 2: very vulnerable and gives us all the insights. So hope
- 11:47Speaker 2: we can get her on soon to talk about it
- 11:49Speaker 2: as well. But yeah, go visit her patreon to get
- 11:53Speaker 2: all the details. That's wild and I'm learning. I just
- 11:55Speaker 2: learned so much on the show.
- 11:57Speaker 3: All the time.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Bachelor Nations Avagant and Noah celebrate their engagement. The line
- 12:04Speaker 2: that they used together is now let's get hitched.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Okay, so we all know that they recently, well I
- 12:11Speaker 3: don't know if we all know. If you guys remember
- 12:13Speaker 3: because you are loyal Bazelor Nation followers. They both moved
- 12:18Speaker 3: to Oklahoma recently bought their first house, a total fixer upper,
- 12:22Speaker 3: and they're in the midst of making it their own.
- 12:25Speaker 3: And they don't really have a lot of furniture yet,
- 12:27Speaker 3: but they had friends and family let them borrow a
- 12:31Speaker 3: few tables and chairs. They set it up. It looked
- 12:34Speaker 3: really romantic and classic. They hung like string lights in
- 12:39Speaker 3: the backyard and they had their engagement party. Seriously, everything
- 12:43Speaker 3: looked really beautiful. We have no idea when they're be
- 12:46Speaker 3: getting married. But I think they're like, this is like
- 12:49Speaker 3: just you know, the flow of things, figuring out the house,
- 12:53Speaker 3: have the engagement party. I'm sure we'll be getting word
- 12:57Speaker 3: on like a timeline.
- 12:59Speaker 4: Zon. Congrats to them, it's a big deal.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Speaking of engagements, Bachelor Nations, Becca Tilly describes her engagement
- 13:07Speaker 2: talks with girlfriend Haley Kuoko. This is on the messenger.
- 13:12Speaker 3: I heard that you were actually there for this conversation. Yeah,
- 13:17Speaker 3: it's probably around Okay, so you was this was this
- 13:21Speaker 3: week they did the triathlon.
- 13:22Speaker 4: Yes, it was.
- 13:24Speaker 3: So this is a good time to talk about because
- 13:26Speaker 3: these quotes happened because Becca came and she support you
- 13:29Speaker 3: at the triathlon or.
- 13:30Speaker 2: No, no, the same The same interviewer that was at
- 13:37Speaker 2: Colton's event that Becca was at the night before came.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Really kind of him to come and watch his triathlon,
- 13:44Speaker 2: and then we sat down afterwards and had a great talk.
- 13:46Speaker 2: He's friends with Amy's friends with Hana. I had kind
- 13:48Speaker 2: of lived in the same building or near them, and
- 13:51Speaker 2: so he just knows a lot about kind of the
- 13:53Speaker 2: world that I live in. I've talked to him before,
- 13:56Speaker 2: and so we just had a good talk about our friends,
- 13:58Speaker 2: about what's going on in Bachelor Nation about the bach
- 14:01Speaker 2: uh it's it was awesome.
- 14:03Speaker 3: Okay, well very nice, so okay, Yeah, so I actually
- 14:06Speaker 3: wanted to talk to Becca and Haley, but mostly Becca
- 14:09Speaker 3: because obviously I'm very close to her. When we were
- 14:11Speaker 3: at the wedding. You know, we're at a wedding and everybody,
- 14:17Speaker 3: our friends from Bachelor they're there, like married, and I'm
- 14:20Speaker 3: looking at Becca and Hailey and they're just like seemingly
- 14:23Speaker 3: so like still in that honeymoon phase five years and
- 14:27Speaker 3: I'm okay, definitely, so like. Is it appropriated me to
- 14:30Speaker 3: ask about engagement? I did not, but this guy, your
- 14:35Speaker 3: your reporter friend, he did, and they Becca had a nice,
- 14:40Speaker 3: fun way of deviating the conversation. She said, my best
- 14:44Speaker 3: friends are currently engaged, so we have to get them
- 14:47Speaker 3: married when it's my time. I wanted to just be
- 14:49Speaker 3: my time. Yeah. She did say that she loved she
- 14:56Speaker 3: loved watching Haley with you at Dean's wedding. It's just,
- 15:00Speaker 3: you know, funny to see somebody that she once dated
- 15:03Speaker 3: now with her girlfriend of so long.
- 15:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, Haley is so fun like she is.
- 15:09Speaker 2: And we talked about it with with Beca on our
- 15:13Speaker 2: podcast a few weeks ago, and if you haven't listened
- 15:16Speaker 2: to that, I think it's a fun podcast kind of
- 15:17Speaker 2: breaking down Deanon Kalin's wedding.
- 15:19Speaker 4: But it's.
- 15:21Speaker 2: You know, Haley's very sweet, sweet soul. She's super interesting
- 15:26Speaker 2: to talk to. I mean, obviously her and Sarah Hyland,
- 15:29Speaker 2: uh and Debbie Ryan really had all of this in
- 15:32Speaker 2: all these incredible stories to share about being teenagers living
- 15:36Speaker 2: in LA kind of be coming into the spotlight at
- 15:40Speaker 2: that point and trying to function in that crazy city
- 15:43Speaker 2: as teenagers. And so I just find Hailey super fascinating,
- 15:47Speaker 2: super sweet, and we'll keep uh, we'll.
- 15:50Speaker 4: Keep an eye on their relationship.
- 15:51Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know even if if I would
- 15:54Speaker 2: even have an uneducated uh guess on what they're really
- 16:00Speaker 2: is leading into. All I know is I agree with
- 16:02Speaker 2: you they are are very much in that honeymoon stage
- 16:05Speaker 2: and very much happy with each other.
- 16:08Speaker 3: Well, they did give a little something. Becka did do
- 16:11Speaker 3: a little give a little something in this interview. She
- 16:13Speaker 3: said that when they were at weddings and so I said,
- 16:14Speaker 3: you have conversations like, oh, well this would be fun
- 16:17Speaker 3: or that would be cool, you know, so like they're
- 16:19Speaker 3: they're planning for the future for a possible wedding.
- 16:22Speaker 4: Yeah, it's fun to talk about it. I remember that time.
- 16:24Speaker 4: It was really fun at their weddings.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:26Speaker 2: I like this and I like that. I don't like
- 16:27Speaker 2: this and I don't like that. I don't know if
- 16:29Speaker 2: there's anything from beaning Kitlin's wedding you couldn't like.
- 16:32Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just like what's for you and what's not
- 16:35Speaker 3: you know, what like is true to you guys as
- 16:38Speaker 3: a couple.
- 16:38Speaker 2: You know you mentioned the trath on. Yes, I did
- 16:41Speaker 2: do a trath on this weekend in Malibu. It was awesome,
- 16:46Speaker 2: you know in another announcement. Yeah, it's probably a headline somewhere,
- 16:51Speaker 2: but I'm now an uncle.
- 16:52Speaker 3: Oh yes, congratulations because brother sister in law had their
- 16:57Speaker 3: baby this last week and it's beautiful.
- 17:01Speaker 2: So pumped. Well, Jessica and I was supposed to go
- 17:04Speaker 2: to Malibu together. I was planning on doing this trathlon Malibu.
- 17:09Speaker 3: Yeah, Malibi, Yeah, to do a triathlon. Okay, but you
- 17:12Speaker 3: let her go. You surprised her with a trip to
- 17:14Speaker 3: see the baby, right.
- 17:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:16Speaker 2: It was terrible timing really for me because I had
- 17:19Speaker 2: gone to Italy for two weeks and then I'd gone
- 17:21Speaker 2: to Dean and Kalon's wedding. So my training and my
- 17:24Speaker 2: shape had definitely taken a hit. And when you enter
- 17:27Speaker 2: into a trathlon you want to be in like peak
- 17:29Speaker 2: physical condition. I was not, but I did it well.
- 17:34Speaker 2: I swam well, I'm not a good cyclist. This is
- 17:36Speaker 2: going to be boring to everybody. I had a good
- 17:38Speaker 2: run I got. I don't know what I got. I
- 17:42Speaker 2: got pretty good considering there's some pros also competing.
- 17:46Speaker 4: I definitely got top twenty.
- 17:48Speaker 3: That's great. Yeah, it's amazing out of how many people.
- 17:52Speaker 4: I don't know, three sixty.
- 17:54Speaker 3: That's amazing.
- 17:56Speaker 4: Yeah, top top seven percent. Then, yeah, I crushed it.
- 18:00Speaker 4: I got crushed.
- 18:01Speaker 2: I got crushed on the bike, like absolutely destroyed on
- 18:03Speaker 2: the bike.
- 18:04Speaker 3: Why do you think I've to me as somebody who
- 18:07Speaker 3: doesn't run, bike or swim? You know?
- 18:10Speaker 4: Well, yeah, I.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Would feel that the cycling would have been the easiest part.
- 18:14Speaker 3: And why am I wrong? Is it?
- 18:17Speaker 2: It's no, it's the easiest part, but you're also competing
- 18:20Speaker 2: against a bunch of people who train with like real
- 18:24Speaker 2: like race bikes. Yeah, like they're good cyclists, and so
- 18:28Speaker 2: it's easy for it's the easiest leg. But that means
- 18:31Speaker 2: that the good like cyclists can fly, and I did
- 18:35Speaker 2: not have the bike. I rented a bike in Malibu, so,
- 18:38Speaker 2: like my bike was not set up for me. It
- 18:40Speaker 2: was not a racing bike, and so I was just
- 18:42Speaker 2: chugging along. I came out of the water in six
- 18:44Speaker 2: I think that's pretty good.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Like, that's incredible. Hold your hold the phone. Yeah, you're
- 18:51Speaker 3: just swimming in the Pacific Ocean.
- 18:53Speaker 4: Oh it was brutal.
- 18:54Speaker 3: Yeah, big old waves, frigid and.
- 18:57Speaker 4: Fridget frigid waves, see anything. It's very disorienting.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Like in fact, I got out of the water and
- 19:03Speaker 2: like I felt very dizzy and you're swallen saltwater. It
- 19:07Speaker 2: was a great I mean, but I'll tell you what,
- 19:09Speaker 2: if anybody has any interest in doing a triathlon of
- 19:12Speaker 2: any length, are kind. They do an incredible job. There
- 19:16Speaker 2: is one point two million dollars for the Children's Hospital
- 19:19Speaker 2: of Los Angeles and through this.
- 19:21Speaker 4: Yeah, so it was an awesome event.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Ran into some here's a funny story and then I'll
- 19:26Speaker 2: get into why justin end up coming. But ran into
- 19:30Speaker 2: some Bachelor contestants. There was a team Bachelor there. No,
- 19:34Speaker 2: I wasn't a part of that team. I didn't know
- 19:37Speaker 2: any of them in fact, they were like on KAD season.
- 19:41Speaker 2: I think a few of the guys are on KD season.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Super nice. Really glad I got to meet him. I'm
- 19:47Speaker 2: planning on doing it again with them next year and
- 19:49Speaker 2: kind of joining their group because I just did it alone.
- 19:52Speaker 2: The reason I did it alone again, Jess was going
- 19:54Speaker 2: to come with me, but she wasn't gonna participate. She
- 19:56Speaker 2: was she was gonna watch. She would crush me. I'm
- 19:59Speaker 2: glad you didn't participated. She's a great she's an all
- 20:02Speaker 2: state swimmer, you know, obviously a college runner, and she
- 20:05Speaker 2: can jump on a bike and pedal.
- 20:08Speaker 4: But I uh when her when her brother.
- 20:12Speaker 2: And sister in law had their baby, I could see
- 20:14Speaker 2: it in her eyes, like this desire to get back
- 20:16Speaker 2: to to Nashville. And when we moved to Denver, one
- 20:18Speaker 2: of our agreements was whenever there's a big family event,
- 20:22Speaker 2: even if I can't go, just like you should go.
- 20:25Speaker 2: It's a you know, you should be there. You should
- 20:27Speaker 2: be a part of those things. Like just because you're
- 20:29Speaker 2: moving away doesn't mean you have to miss out on
- 20:30Speaker 2: that stuff.
- 20:32Speaker 4: And so yeah, I did.
- 20:34Speaker 2: I surprised her the night before I got her ticket
- 20:36Speaker 2: to Nashville. She fought me hard on it. She was like, no,
- 20:39Speaker 2: we're gonna I want to go with you. We've planned
- 20:41Speaker 2: on this and I said, hey, if you want to
- 20:43Speaker 2: watch me do a triathlon, I'll do it in our neighborhood.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Like I'll start running around the circle all swim of
- 20:49Speaker 2: the pool. But like it's not a spectative event. We'll
- 20:51Speaker 2: be fine. And so she went to Nashville and celebrated.
- 20:53Speaker 3: I guess not really a spectator event, right, because she's
- 20:56Speaker 3: only going to see you like breeze By one or
- 20:58Speaker 3: two times. Yeah.
- 20:59Speaker 4: Yeah, so it was.
- 21:00Speaker 2: It worked out great and she was able to get
- 21:02Speaker 2: to Nashville and celebrate with them. And I'm so happy
- 21:05Speaker 2: to be an uncle. But I haven't met my niece yet,
- 21:08Speaker 2: which is so weird. I have a niece now and
- 21:11Speaker 2: I'm being called uncle bean. That was my request. I
- 21:14Speaker 2: want to be uncle adorable. You can't hate your uncle bean,
- 21:19Speaker 2: Like no, like uncle Bean can't be anything but your favorite.
- 21:23Speaker 3: That's adorable. The first grandchild.
- 21:37Speaker 2: Well, onto other news outside of my Traaslon and my
- 21:44Speaker 2: my big announcement is Chris Harrison. You know has I
- 21:48Speaker 2: feel like I've gotten to keep in touch with him.
- 21:50Speaker 2: I think you have as well. The weird thing is,
- 21:53Speaker 2: for as much as I see Chris and as much
- 21:54Speaker 2: as I talk to Chris, I always have this weird
- 21:57Speaker 2: thing with asking him like, what are you up to now?
- 22:00Speaker 2: Because he might not be up to anything, and that
- 22:02Speaker 2: would be fine. He had a great and very successful career.
- 22:05Speaker 2: But I just feel like it's probably a question he
- 22:08Speaker 2: gets asked a lot, one that I am not going
- 22:11Speaker 2: to speak to unless he brings it up. So this
- 22:13Speaker 2: headline is a breakdown of what Chris Harrison is up
- 22:17Speaker 2: to now after his Bachelor Nation exit.
- 22:20Speaker 3: Yeah, so for those of you who don't who don't know,
- 22:23Speaker 3: Chris took about a year completely off and then he
- 22:27Speaker 3: actually joined the iHeart family in the podcast Realm, and
- 22:31Speaker 3: he has a podcast that's been out for over like
- 22:35Speaker 3: nine months, I'd say about nine months. It's called the
- 22:37Speaker 3: Most Dramatic Podcast Ever with Chris Harrison and Lauren Zima,
- 22:41Speaker 3: his fiance. She pretty much co hosts the thing with him,
- 22:44Speaker 3: and they talk a lot about relationships and have a
- 22:46Speaker 3: lot of celebrity interviews. It's really good podcasts and it
- 22:49Speaker 3: does it really well because I've seen their numbers before
- 22:52Speaker 3: with our producer and I'm like, Wow, You guys are
- 22:55Speaker 3: killing it. Everyone loves Chris.
- 22:56Speaker 4: They have good interviews that they're intriguing.
- 22:59Speaker 3: Yeah, a couple does interviews and they do it well together.
- 23:03Speaker 3: I always like it. I just like love to hear
- 23:06Speaker 3: like just other couple's dynamics when it's in long form
- 23:09Speaker 3: like you know, podcasts. And then they are obviously planning
- 23:13Speaker 3: a wedding and it's coming up, and they're living in Austin.
- 23:19Speaker 3: They're very happy. They're really doing very well.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I would say, yet to summarize all that,
- 23:24Speaker 2: he's doing great, you know, I think he has taken
- 23:27Speaker 2: a slow down one. His kids are in college, so
- 23:29Speaker 2: he's enjoying that. He is getting ready to get married,
- 23:32Speaker 2: which is a big deal and I think a tad
- 23:37Speaker 2: we didn't know if Chris was ever going to get
- 23:38Speaker 2: married again, and so he is doing that. And then yeah,
- 23:42Speaker 2: he's living in Austin, so he's moved out of la
- 23:45Speaker 2: Lauren and Chris are living in Austin, loving Austin, probably
- 23:48Speaker 2: playing a ton of golf in Austin. It sounds like
- 23:51Speaker 2: he's just kind of entering into a second season of life,
- 23:56Speaker 2: or a third whatever he would call it.
- 23:58Speaker 4: That's a little bit lower.
- 24:01Speaker 2: I'm assuming though, after you know, as much time as
- 24:04Speaker 2: he's had off in the show, it's probably becoming nicer
- 24:08Speaker 2: and nicer, like he's getting.
- 24:09Speaker 3: Yeah, he's probably feeling like this is his life now
- 24:12Speaker 3: instead of missing yeah, what he knew for nineteen years.
- 24:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I would.
- 24:19Speaker 2: I would be interested if somebody could ask Chris uh
- 24:22Speaker 2: if he's upset that he's not the host of the
- 24:24Speaker 2: Golden Bachelor, Like I know that he did the.
- 24:26Speaker 3: Other show, gold Bachelor.
- 24:27Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, but if.
- 24:28Speaker 2: He looks at the Golden Bachelor, if he's watched it,
- 24:30Speaker 2: I don't know, and if he's like, gosh, that's a
- 24:32Speaker 2: good show, Like I think I could.
- 24:34Speaker 4: I would like to be there.
- 24:35Speaker 3: You guys could bond over being sad about being the
- 24:37Speaker 3: host of that.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll just we'll just mourn together. Seeing Fleming, the
- 24:42Speaker 2: name we haven't talked about in a long time. Seeing Fleming,
- 24:45Speaker 2: who was a massive part of vaccination for for a while,
- 24:49Speaker 2: announces she's expecting her first baby with husband Doug Phillmore.
- 24:53Speaker 2: This according to Bachelor Nation.
- 24:55Speaker 3: If you remember her from Ari's Top Handful of Girls, Yeah,
- 24:59Speaker 3: she she has been married to Doug for a bit.
- 25:02Speaker 3: She got with Doug really soon after getting off of
- 25:06Speaker 3: oar reseason, not in like a shady way and like
- 25:09Speaker 3: she was lucky to have done the Bachelor, not been
- 25:13Speaker 3: the final picks in that case, and then moved on
- 25:17Speaker 3: and found the love of her life really quickly. And
- 25:20Speaker 3: they just announced that they are pregnant or she's pregnant.
- 25:24Speaker 3: You know how I feel about that. The woman's pregnant.
- 25:28Speaker 3: There's no we in pregnancy. We're going to have a baby,
- 25:35Speaker 3: but I am pregnant. So she just posted on in
- 25:39Speaker 3: social media said coming soon. We don't know how far
- 25:42Speaker 3: long she is, and they shared a few sonogram photos
- 25:46Speaker 3: of like polaroids.
- 25:48Speaker 2: Well, last headline of today is a wedding that captured
- 25:53Speaker 2: the eyes and the hearts and the intrigue of Batsman Nation.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Hannah Godwin and Dylan Barber reveal what went wrong during
- 26:01Speaker 2: their wedding planning in or their wedding I guess in Paris.
- 26:05Speaker 2: This according to the Bachelor Nation as well.
- 26:07Speaker 3: So there's two things that went wrong. One is like
- 26:09Speaker 3: a little bit more boring than the other. So the
- 26:12Speaker 3: more boring thing that went wrong is it didn't really
- 26:16Speaker 3: go wrong. It just was like a little bit nerve
- 26:18Speaker 3: wracking for a minute, they put like their payment down
- 26:22Speaker 3: or the final payment or whatever for the venue, and
- 26:25Speaker 3: because there's like a currency exchange, it wasn't going through
- 26:28Speaker 3: very fast enough, and the venue was calling and they
- 26:31Speaker 3: were like just letting you know, we have not received
- 26:35Speaker 3: your your payment yet, so if we don't get it
- 26:38Speaker 3: by Monday at noon, you won't be able to have
- 26:42Speaker 3: your wedding on Wednesday. With Okay, obviously very crazy, but
- 26:47Speaker 3: it was like, okay, but the money is in transfer currently.
- 26:50Speaker 3: We just have no like, we can have no control
- 26:54Speaker 3: over how long it took with the banks being off
- 26:57Speaker 3: during the weekend and the currency switched over. I understand
- 27:01Speaker 3: how nerve wracking that must have been. They actually had
- 27:04Speaker 3: it go through finally at eleven forty five am on
- 27:08Speaker 3: that Monday. But let's be real, like if it hadn't
- 27:12Speaker 3: gone through, couldn't you like show them things like look, look,
- 27:15Speaker 3: look it's here, it's here, like all the bank statements.
- 27:18Speaker 4: I don't know he needed.
- 27:19Speaker 3: Actually the venue would actually cancel it if it was
- 27:21Speaker 3: like twelve fifteen pm.
- 27:23Speaker 4: I would I would.
- 27:26Speaker 2: I want to believe, just for the sake of the story,
- 27:29Speaker 2: right that it was that stressful. I just think it's
- 27:32Speaker 2: a good story.
- 27:33Speaker 3: Hannah goes she was so stressed, but Dylan was like,
- 27:36Speaker 3: I know exactly what's happening. It's all gonna be fine.
- 27:38Speaker 3: He wasn't. He wasn't freaking out at all. So then
- 27:41Speaker 3: the thing that I would have been, like, what, because
- 27:44Speaker 3: I was so crazy with the music at our wedding.
- 27:48Speaker 3: We had like a seven different musical acts. It was
- 27:50Speaker 3: so crazy, and I picked every single song that played
- 27:54Speaker 3: at the wedding, and when it came to their music,
- 27:59Speaker 3: they did something. So Dylan said, it was very It
- 28:02Speaker 3: was a very big deal that they had certain songs
- 28:04Speaker 3: play in certain mood set because of the playlist. So
- 28:08Speaker 3: they had a DJ, and the DJ was supposed to
- 28:11Speaker 3: play like classical songs and standards during dinner, like we're
- 28:15Speaker 3: talking Frank Sinatra stuff, and then all of a sudden,
- 28:18Speaker 3: in the middle of dinner they start playing and get
- 28:22Speaker 3: low by flow Rider.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Okay, well, you know what I say about this. What
- 28:29Speaker 2: if you want that stress to be taken away, hire
- 28:31Speaker 2: the Taylor Pace Band.
- 28:34Speaker 3: You mean, well, you mean the Jordan con Orchestra, which
- 28:37Speaker 3: is under the umbrella. Yeah, they're under the umbrella of
- 28:40Speaker 3: the Jordan Come in.
- 28:41Speaker 4: Yeah, Okay, Jordan Cohn orchestra.
- 28:43Speaker 2: Just just hire them all of your wedding songs and
- 28:46Speaker 2: dreams will come true.
- 28:47Speaker 3: So the problem here was that the DJ there was
- 28:50Speaker 3: a language barrier, and one of one of Hannah's friends
- 28:54Speaker 3: needed to go who spoke French, and talk to him
- 28:58Speaker 3: about the fact that he was not playing the right song.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Because at first they were like, okay, so get Low
- 29:02Speaker 3: is playing, but like, I'm sure he'll get back on
- 29:04Speaker 3: track after that, and then next was running by Chris
- 29:08Speaker 3: Brown and then she Hannah's like, okay, where's the Frank Sinatra.
- 29:12Speaker 3: So that's when they had to go up to him
- 29:14Speaker 3: and be like, can we just.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Calm this down a bit hit Like, come on, people
- 29:18Speaker 2: are trying to chill here. They have their champagne in hand.
- 29:20Speaker 2: I don't think I don't think they're dropping it low
- 29:23Speaker 2: right now. Maybe they are, Well, Ashley, that's all the
- 29:27Speaker 2: headlines we have for today. That's a lot of headlines,
- 29:28Speaker 2: some big headlines. We got new babies, we got engagement talks,
- 29:31Speaker 2: we got updates on Chris Harrison, we got wedding updates.
- 29:35Speaker 2: We've got so much in this episode. Make sure you
- 29:38Speaker 2: tune into this and also don't forget. We'll be breaking
- 29:41Speaker 2: down Bachelor in Paradise and the Golden Bachelor this week.
- 29:45Speaker 2: We are busy, I mean, we're just plugging along. We're
- 29:49Speaker 2: keeping content coming to you. We have some special interviews
- 29:51Speaker 2: coming out as well. But Ashley, until next time, I've
- 29:55Speaker 2: been Been, I've been Ashley Bye.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Followed the Ben and Ashley Hi Almost Famous podcasts on
- 30:01Speaker 1: iHeartRadio or subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts
