- 0:00Speaker 1: We go into mecavenyent, very good morning to you.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Good morning.
- 0:05Speaker 1: In a campaign where farage has also stolen the headlines
- 0:08Speaker 1: and the polls are sort of a constant debating point.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Just what we needed was a good old, bitting scandal,
- 0:13Speaker 1: wasn't it. Who could have seen this coming?
- 0:16Speaker 2: Well, I mean you say a good old scandal. We
- 0:18Speaker 2: haven't had a scandal like this before, and it keeps
- 0:20Speaker 2: rumbling on. So what this is is allegedly people that
- 0:24Speaker 2: had early knowledge of the surprise election date. Rishi Sunac
- 0:29Speaker 2: called it three weeks ago. It's in two weeks time,
- 0:32Speaker 2: on the on the fourth of July. And first, a
- 0:36Speaker 2: few weeks ago we had an MP who was an
- 0:40Speaker 2: advisor to Richie Sunac. He was accused of having placed
- 0:44Speaker 2: a one hundred pound bet and was under investigation by
- 0:48Speaker 2: the UK's Gambling Commission. Then yesterday one of Rishi Sunac's
- 0:52Speaker 2: close protection police officers was arrested over alleged bets about
- 0:56Speaker 2: the timing of the election. And then today a Conservative
- 1:00Speaker 2: Party candidate, Laura Saunders has it's been announced that she
- 1:05Speaker 2: is being investigated for doing the same. And her husband
- 1:08Speaker 2: is the Conservative Party's director of campaign. So someone who
- 1:11Speaker 2: would absolutely have likely known the date of that election
- 1:15Speaker 2: early and they're being investigated, so he is stepped back
- 1:20Speaker 2: from that role temporarily. So it is a huge scandal
- 1:23Speaker 2: here that these people seem to have really decided to
- 1:27Speaker 2: use what they know, the insider information they have, and
- 1:31Speaker 2: infringe the sort of UK's betting laws to place these
- 1:34Speaker 2: bets watching.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Eldister Campbell has been about the place saying he doesn't
- 1:38Speaker 1: believe the polls at the moment. That's something really awry
- 1:40Speaker 1: going on. But we're now talking about aren't we rischie
- 1:43Speaker 1: Sonnik potentially losing his seat and no one as Prime
- 1:46Speaker 1: minister has ever lost their seat, have they?
- 1:49Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right. It would be remarkable, an unprecedented loss
- 1:54Speaker 2: for Rishie Sounak if he lost the seat. He is
- 1:58Speaker 2: currently campaigning in some very un usual seats, seats where
- 2:01Speaker 2: they've got more than a twenty thousand or places he'd
- 2:04Speaker 2: never be or a prime minister in office which should
- 2:07Speaker 2: never be campaigning, has never had to campaign before. But
- 2:10Speaker 2: they're so worried. I mean, they're talking about half of
- 2:12Speaker 2: the cabinet going here on the night of the election,
- 2:14Speaker 2: will be covering it from the Chancellor's constituency Jeremy Hunt.
- 2:18Speaker 2: He's been an MP since two thousand and five. He's
- 2:20Speaker 2: been Chancellor, Foreign Secretary, Health Secretary, big Jobs. He is
- 2:24Speaker 2: expected to lose his seat at the moment. Several other
- 2:26Speaker 2: very senior members of the government, so it really could
- 2:29Speaker 2: be an unprecedented night for the Conservative Party. Farishi Sunak Well, hey,
- 2:33Speaker 2: it might be what he wants because after such a
- 2:36Speaker 2: dreadful loss as we're expecting, he probably doesn't want to
- 2:39Speaker 2: stick around much longer. Lots of rumors that he wants
- 2:41Speaker 2: to leave and move to California.
- 2:43Speaker 1: And give us thee Ian mckill an update because it
- 2:46Speaker 1: seemed bad that it wasn't as bad and we were
- 2:48Speaker 1: expecting the returner. Now he's not returning.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Yasaran McKellen is currently performing in the West End in
- 2:54Speaker 2: a play called Player Kings Now. He fell from the
- 2:58Speaker 2: stage a few nights ago. He had to have medical attention.
- 3:02Speaker 2: He's had physiotherapy and scans, but they've come out with
- 3:05Speaker 2: a statement to say that he's doing well. He's recovering.
- 3:09Speaker 2: He won't be able to fill the remaining performances at
- 3:12Speaker 2: the nol Cower Theater here in London's West End, but
- 3:14Speaker 2: the play is transferring to Bristol next month and it's
- 3:17Speaker 2: hope that he'll be able to take part in that.
- 3:19Speaker 2: So some good news that he's getting better. He is,
- 3:23Speaker 2: of course eighty five. It is incredible that he still
- 3:25Speaker 2: does these huge productions and that's just hope he gets
- 3:30Speaker 2: better quickly.
- 3:31Speaker 1: You bit, Vincent, have a good weekend catch up, so
- 3:32Speaker 1: appreciate it very much. Vincent mcavinnie out of Britain.
