- 0:09SPEAKER_01: This is The Opinionated Ogre Podcast,
- 0:11SPEAKER_01: your weekly rampage through current events with little snark,
- 0:14SPEAKER_01: a bit of foul language, and a lot of strong opinion episodes every Thursday.
- 0:18SPEAKER_01: They are not safe for work or polite company of any kind whatsoever.
- 0:22SPEAKER_01: I am your podcast host, Doc Brown, aka The Opinionated Ogre.
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: And this is my co-host, Forrest Gump, aka Florida Woman.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: Hello, Florida Woman.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: How are you today?
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Good morning, everybody.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: If you're not watching the live stream,
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: we're currently wearing Halloween costumes because
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: why not?
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: We are one week out or less than a week out from the midterm elections.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: And by this time next week, the blue wave will have started to drown.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: Republicans all across America.
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: We're not going to have a complete picture next Wednesday morning
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: when we start recording,
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: but we're going to have a pretty good idea of just how good a night Democrats had.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: Did we win, win big, or holy fuckballs, did that really just happen?
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: So maybe next week we're going to read a few headlines
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: and see who's reporting reality and who's just coping.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: My bet is on there's going to be a whole lot of coping.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: I'm looking forward to seeing, that's not a blue wave.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: This wasn't a blue wave.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: Meanwhile, Republicans are going to be like, it was all rigged.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: I may or may not be hungover.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: I'm thinking about live streaming Tuesday night and getting drunk just from laughing
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: so hard and drinking beer while doing it.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: But we'll see.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: I'm toying with the idea.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: What do you think?
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: Should I do that?
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: I should do it.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: This is the recording for October 29th,
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: 2026, and we have a lot to get to on episode 120 of the Og Pod.
- 1:50SPEAKER_01: Are we ready to do this?
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: Hell yeah.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: Woo!
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: All right, then let's get to it.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: It's time for the Ogre Nation Deep Dive.
- 1:57Roar.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: Roar.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: We are digging into pretty much the midterms.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: This is going to be like the most of the shows.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: What's happening next week?
- 2:09SPEAKER_01: And we're going to start off with the Senate.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: We'll get to the rest of it.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: Don't worry.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: So back in April, I wrote...
- 2:15SPEAKER_01: He wrote about how the GOP's big plan was to run.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: And I swear to God, they actually were going to do this.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: They were going to run on their tax cut bill,
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: their big,
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: stupid bill, their big, beautiful, whatever, their tax cut for billionaires.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: They did this back in 2017.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: And that crashed and burned, just like every Trump business.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: Every Trump business.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: And they figured, let's try that again.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: And surprise,
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: it didn't work because regular Americans,
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: you know,
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: their home base is like,
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: What the fuck do I give a shit about your tax cut for billionaires for?
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: It's not doing anything for me.
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: So they moved on to plan B,
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: which at the time was the equally stupid idea of putting Donald Trump on the ballot.
- 3:05SPEAKER_01: I said at the time.
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: That this was doomed to fail because of course it's doomed to fail.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: Donald Trump's not actually on the ballot for Republicans,
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: but he certainly was going to be on the ballot for Democrats because we were going
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: to turn out in huge numbers to vote against him.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: His own people were not going to turn out to vote for him
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: because his name's not there to tick off.
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: Even if he was on the ballot,
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: the 2024 election showed us very conclusively that even if Donald Trump is popular
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: with his base, They barely eked out a victory in the 2024 election.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: Trump won.
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: But Republicans didn't.
- 3:54SPEAKER_01: So the whole idea that putting Trump on the ballot was going
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: to somehow help was ludicrous on its face.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: But they went for it anyway.
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: And that was always going to fail.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: So Plan C...
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: Which is what I said they were going to have to do back in April.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: Was inevitably 100% guaranteed going to be their default closing message.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: Which is what it always is.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: Jaw-dropping, unhinged racism.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: And surprise!
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: Here we are.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: Republicans all over the country are screaming bloody murder about Sharia law,
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: terrorism, the evils of Muslims.
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: Abdul El Saeed, our candidate in Michigan, has become...
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: They're perfect boogeyman, except he's not because he's American.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: He doesn't even have a shred of an accent,
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: but it doesn't matter because he's a scary brown man ready to steal their women
- 4:49SPEAKER_01: and force them to wear burkas.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: Republicans are also still going all in on anti-trans ads, but those have long lost their punch.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: And it's a good bet that we're not going to see a whole lot of money being spent
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: on those ads in the next election cycle.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: In 2028, I seriously doubt anti-trans is going to be a main component.
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: It'll still be there.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: They're not going to stop passing laws to hurt trans kids because they love being cruel.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: But they're not going to waste millions and millions of dollars on the ads
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: because it doesn't whip their base of rage junkies into a mindless frenzy anymore.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: But at this point, they're just desperate.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: And all they can do is hit the racism button as hard, as loudly as they can.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: And the more panicked they are,
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: The more loud, the louder the screeching and they are screeching very, very loudly.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: Did you see what I was talking about where Trump said that Abdul El-Sayed was a fake doctor?
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: No, I did not.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: Tell them about that because I missed it.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: And it was just like, you've got to be fucking kidding me.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was just in his speech.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: He called him a fake doctor because right now they're going all in on the he's
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: an M.D.,
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: We talked about that last week on the show.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: But it's just – it's the stupidest thing.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: They're calling him Islamic fundamentalist and blah, blah, blah.
- 6:13SPEAKER_01: And it's like what are you even talking about?
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: And J.D.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: Vance keeps talking about him like he's not an American, like he wasn't born here.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: It's like, oh, he didn't even assimilate.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: It's like if you're born here, you don't assimilate.
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: You just are.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: There's nothing to assimilate to.
- 6:31SPEAKER_01: You're born here.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: You're an American.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: That's like a saying.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: It's like, well, J.D.
- 6:36SPEAKER_01: Vance's kids haven't assimilated yet because their mother is from another country.
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: But, you know, they just can't stop hitting that racism button because it's all they have.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: Nothing else.
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: Absolutely nothing else.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: Well,
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: the October surprise in the Senate was a massive small dollar fundraising advantage
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: for Democrats.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: Republicans are getting their money from billionaires.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: Democrats are getting their money from actual real Americans who give a shit about the country.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: Punchbowl News reports that in just the first two weeks of October,
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: some Democrats raised more than Republicans raised in the whole quarter so far.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: Also, the top 10 candidates for this cycle in terms of fundraising are all Democrats.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: And that's with Elon Musk setting half a billion dollars on fire trying
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: to get James Tallarico, or as Donald Trump likes to refer to him, James Tallarico.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: Out of Congress.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: I don't know why he thought that was a good name for him,
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: because I heard James Talafrico, and I was like, okay.
- 7:39SPEAKER_01: But it rhymes!
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: So what does all this mean?
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: There's a massive enthusiasm gap, but also it speaks to the quality of the candidates.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: Republicans do not have tons of crazies this time,
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: but they're shitty candidates anyways, like Ken Paxton.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: They don't have Herschel Walkers.
- 8:00SPEAKER_01: They don't have foaming at the mouth morons so much this time,
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: but they're just not good candidates.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: Meanwhile, Democrats have a boat full of rock stars and it's really pissing off the GOP.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: We love that.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: Womp, womp, womp.
- 8:14SPEAKER_01: So how bad is this going to go for the GOP?
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: Really, really, really badly.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: Democrats need to pick up five seats.
- 8:23SPEAKER_01: Technically,
- 8:24SPEAKER_01: it's four seats to take the majority,
- 8:27SPEAKER_01: but we all know Fetterman's going to switch parties if he's the 51st vote.
- 8:31SPEAKER_01: So we need a spare to neutralize that backstabbing fuck.
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: Now, up in Alaska, Democrat Mary Patola is ahead.
- 8:39SPEAKER_01: She just had a car accident, but she's fine.
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: It wasn't anything serious, but it doesn't matter.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: She's ahead.
- 8:46SPEAKER_01: And you can tell that she's ahead because the regime is suing already to throw out
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: the results of the ballot before the ballots are even counted on the legal theory
- 8:56SPEAKER_01: that having two people with the same name on the ballot,
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: both Dan Sullivan, is unconstitutional.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: We talked about this earlier this year,
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: how Dan Sullivan is running against Dan Sullivan,
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: and it's been a court battle for several months.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, now it's the Republican Dan Sullivan and an independent Dan Sullivan,
- 9:14SPEAKER_01: and Republicans are really mad about this.
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: Now, to the surprise of absolutely no one,
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: this happens somewhat regularly throughout the country because,
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: I don't know,
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: a lot of white people have the same name,
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: and Republicans have Never complained until it was a problem for them.
- 9:29SPEAKER_01: But good luck getting that through the courts, you fascist fucks.
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: North Carolina is pretty much a lock.
- 9:35SPEAKER_01: Roy Cooper is stomping his nameless opponent.
- 9:38SPEAKER_01: Honestly, I don't even know the name.
- 9:41SPEAKER_01: Every time I hear it, it just slips away because who cares?
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: They're going to lose.
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: And Republicans have abandoned North Carolina completely and moved on.
- 9:49SPEAKER_01: So that's two for us.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: Republicans thought that they might have a chance to flip Georgia,
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: but John Ossoff is hurting their neo-Nazi KKK candidate so badly.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: And we don't say that.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: It's not hyperbole.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: Like, literally, he has connections.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: A lot of connections to neo-Nazis.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: And it's weird how that's not more of a story for the press.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: So weird.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: So weird.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: But, I mean, technically, that wouldn't be a flip for us.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: It's still funny how hard they're losing in Georgia.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: Hard enough that there's a chance that Democrats can flip
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: the heavily gerrymandered state Senate because candidate quality matters.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: Yes,
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: it does.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: Ohio and Iowa are problems for the GOP.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: Both states are being severely damaged by Trump's trade wars and the price
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: of diesel is going through the roof.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: Sherrod Brown is an excellent candidate.
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: And while Josh Turek is not a household name,
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: Trump has put such a drag on the ticket that both states are threatening
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: to flip blue.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: And remember, Sherrod Brown used to be the senator.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: He's only been gone for one cycle.
- 10:57SPEAKER_01: So he's kind of running as an incumbent, even though he's not the incumbent.
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: He has a lot of name recognition in the state.
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 11:04SPEAKER_01: So that would be three and four.
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: Susan Collins in Maine is deeply unpopular and all of the rat fucking in
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: the world hasn't stopped Troy Jackson from making it a competitive race.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: And that is possibly five flips for us.
- 11:19SPEAKER_01: Now you have Kansas has become a real opportunity for Democrats,
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: which sounds completely fucking batshit insane.
- 11:26SPEAKER_01: But Republican Roger Marshall is.
- 11:29SPEAKER_01: Is a greedy piece of shit weasel who has literally had his patients arrested
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: in order to collect minor debts.
- 11:37SPEAKER_01: 700 patients.
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and we're talking debts of a couple hundred dollars.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: Well, 700, he sued 700 patients.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: Right, and some have been arrested for a debt of $150, $200.
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: Which is crazy that they do that in Kansas.
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but that's who this guy is and his opponent, Democrat Adam Hamilton.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: He's a megachurch reverend and Kansas is being crushed by high diesel prices due
- 12:03SPEAKER_01: to Trump's imbecile Iran war.
- 12:05SPEAKER_01: Republicans are pouring money into Kansas to defend a seat that shouldn't be competitive at all.
- 12:11SPEAKER_01: But now has a very real chance of flipping blue.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: And that would be six.
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: Michigan was supposed to be an easy pickup for Republicans.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: Abdul El-Sayed was too extreme, too Muslim, too brown.
- 12:24SPEAKER_01: But in the last couple of weeks, that race has flipped away too.
- 12:27SPEAKER_01: As El-Sayed has just gobbled everything up that the racist hate machine has thrown
- 12:32SPEAKER_01: at him and kept going because quality matters.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: Mississippi and South Carolina are two more problems for the GOP.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: Darlene Graham is a terrible candidate and it's not
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: at all clear her name recognition will be enough to get South Carolina to put her
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: in her brother's seat as a voiceless rubber stamp for Trump.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: Cindy Hyde-Smith is flailing and Democrat Scott Cologne has made
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: the rest unexpectedly tight,
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: sending the GOP into a panic and Democrats into attack mode.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: So that's seven and eight.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: Florida is a long shot.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: I live here right now.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: Florida is a long shot,
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: but it's a toss-up between Angie Nixon,
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: the unapologetically loud Democrat,
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: and Ashley Moody,
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: another Trump stooge who used to be our Attorney General and who sucked.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: That would be nine.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: And then there's Texas.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: Sweet, sweet Texas.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: Elon Musk is so terrified of James Tallarico winning Texas,
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: he's pouring money like water into Texas and tweeting about Tallarico like he's
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: a date who dumped him on prom night.
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: So far...
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: So far, over half a billion has been spent in Texas,
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: most of it coming from the right,
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: and Tallarico has maintained a steady lead the entire time.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: It's almost like Republicans nominating a sleazy criminal isn't working out for them.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: Imagine that.
- 13:54SPEAKER_01: I know it's so weird.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: So all told, Democrats have the potential to flip up to 10 seats, which is fucking crazy.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: They only need five, at least three of those seats.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: Alaska, Ohio and North Carolina are as close to his luck as we can get it.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: Of the remaining seven, maybe four of them are real danger zones for the GOP.
- 14:17SPEAKER_01: So a bad night sees Democrats picking up six to seven seats.
- 14:22SPEAKER_01: A catastrophic night sees eight to ten flips.
- 14:27SPEAKER_01: The thing is, the 2028 Senate map is really not good for Republicans for a change.
- 14:34SPEAKER_01: Like most of the time, the Senate map is really bad for Democrats.
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: The 2028 map is not good for Republicans.
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: There's very few opportunities for them to flip a seat.
- 14:44SPEAKER_01: And there's a couple of places where if there's another wave elections,
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: Democrats could be eyeing a filibuster-proof majority,
- 14:52SPEAKER_01: which they're going to need in order to get rid of it altogether and expand
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: the Supreme Court.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: Make Puerto Rico and D.C.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: to states and generally end the ability of Republicans
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: to ever steal another election.
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: So next Tuesday and a couple of weeks after that,
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: as the states finish up and blah, blah,
- 15:09SPEAKER_01: has potential to be unbelievably catastrophic for Republicans
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: with long term ramifications for the rest of the country.
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: So that brings us to the House.
- 15:21SPEAKER_01: We're not going to dig into all the specific House races because we would be here
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: for the next three hours and Florida woman's face is going to itch off like all
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: the skin is going to just peel at this rate.
- 15:30SPEAKER_01: But the overall picture is incredibly good for Democrats.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: We are contesting seats in deep,
- 15:37SPEAKER_01: deep red areas and Republicans are being forced to just blow money,
- 15:42SPEAKER_01: just waste it on seats that they thought were very, very bad.
- 15:47SPEAKER_01: Their big gerrymander project is turning into a giant dummymander.
- 15:52SPEAKER_01: And we've talked about this a bunch of times.
- 15:54SPEAKER_01: The safe seats they had are now going to flip because of their own arrogance,
- 15:59SPEAKER_01: stupidity, and mindless obedience to a dying pedophile in the White House.
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: We love that.
- 16:04SPEAKER_01: But let's talk about what that blue wave might end up looking like.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: In 2018, Democrats won 41 seats in the House, giving them a majority of 235.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: The press spent weeks arguing that it wasn't a blue wave.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: Cool.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: No way.
- 16:19SPEAKER_01: Can't be.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: Cool, cool.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: Love that.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: Right now, Democrats hold 217 seats and could flip over 20.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: That would be half of what they flipped in 2018, but it would still give them a larger majority.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: It would be less because of all the heavy GOP gerrymandering,
- 16:37SPEAKER_00: but the blue wave is so large, supposedly safe red seats are going to flip anyway.
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: Which we warned about when Republicans decided they wanted to water down all
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: of those safe seats.
- 16:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I didn't even know the phrase dummymandering at the time,
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: but if we had, we would have used it.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: I look forward to being told it's not a blue wave because only 20 seats flipped.
- 17:01SPEAKER_00: Meanwhile,
- 17:01SPEAKER_00: Republican efforts to give themselves a permanent majority in the House have crashed
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: and burned.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: This doesn't mean the Democrats can relax.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: They still have several blue states they can finish gerrymandering.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: And once they gain a trifecta in more states,
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: which we'll discuss in a second, They should absolutely gerrymander those as well.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: Republicans wanted to fuck around, and now they're going to find out.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: All right,
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: before we move on to our
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: next section,
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: if you would like to throw us a small tip,
- 17:30SPEAKER_01: the QR codes for both PayPal and Venmo are up on the screen.
- 17:33SPEAKER_01: We have no sponsors or advertisers, and we probably never will because, well, you know...
- 17:40SPEAKER_01: We're just too gosh darn controversial.
- 17:42SPEAKER_01: So we, both of us having college students, would appreciate anything you can send our way.
- 17:49SPEAKER_01: We love you guys.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 17:51SPEAKER_01: Let us talk about governor's mansions and how badly that's going for Republicans.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: Who had a number of insults to lob at her own child.
- 18:20SPEAKER_00: But Acton's mother has no relationship with her or her brother because she decided
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: to support her husband after he sexually assaulted Amy when she was 12 years old.
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: She then fled the state with the rapist,
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: I believe to like Pennsylvania,
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: left the kids behind and allowed him to remain on the lam and not go to jail.
- 18:41SPEAKER_00: But instead of disavowing the ad, Trump supported it.
- 18:45SPEAKER_01: Of course he did.
- 18:46SPEAKER_01: And of course we all know that he loves racists.
- 18:48SPEAKER_01: After all, he is one.
- 18:50SPEAKER_01: The funny thing about that is that other Republicans told Ramaswamy, don't do this.
- 18:55SPEAKER_01: It's going to backfire.
- 18:57SPEAKER_01: But they were just so – him and his – He also ran another ad featuring a husband and
- 19:03SPEAKER_01: a wife, and the husband has been convicted of sex crimes.
- 19:28SPEAKER_01: I know that misogyny and violence against women is like a core component of these people.
- 19:36SPEAKER_01: But my God, you can't say it out loud, man.
- 19:40SPEAKER_01: You got to leave that part unspoken.
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: When you make it front and center, you're going to turn people off.
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: Oh, well, I guess they, you know, no one can be Trump except Trump.
- 19:54SPEAKER_01: Sorry.
- 19:55SPEAKER_01: So now they're going to pay the price for that.
- 19:57SPEAKER_01: Fuck them.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: Now, there are 36 gubernatorial races this year,
- 20:02SPEAKER_01: and Decision Desk HQ has predicted that we could take 21 of them.
- 20:06SPEAKER_01: Democrats are aggressively campaigning to flip as many government mansions
- 20:10SPEAKER_01: as possible,
- 20:11SPEAKER_01: Including in states they might not ordinarily pay attention to,
- 20:15SPEAKER_01: like Oklahoma, where Trump won by 34 points just two years ago.
- 20:20SPEAKER_01: The Democratic Governors Association has invested half a million to flip that seat,
- 20:24SPEAKER_01: and it could pay off.
- 20:26SPEAKER_01: The Democratic candidate is tied with Republican, according to recent polls.
- 20:31SPEAKER_01: Partially because they're getting their ass kicked by Trump's tariffs and,
- 20:35SPEAKER_01: you know, the whole diesel situation.
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: And he brought in a bunch of beef from other countries.
- 20:44SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's right.
- 20:45SPEAKER_01: Ranchers are also getting their ass kicked because of Trump.
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: And Republicans are just going along with it.
- 20:52SPEAKER_01: Oklahoma isn't the only deep red state becoming a headache for Republicans.
- 20:56SPEAKER_01: In Florida,
- 20:56SPEAKER_01: Ron DeSantis won his last election by nearly 20 points,
- 20:59SPEAKER_01: which was the largest margin since 1982.
- 21:02SPEAKER_01: Now, Republican Brian Donalds is only ahead by two points over his Democratic opponent.
- 21:09SPEAKER_01: Meanwhile, in Texas, Greg Abbott is only ahead by three points.
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: Flipping a governor's seat in a state with a Republican-controlled legislature is
- 21:19SPEAKER_01: a mixed blessing, right?
- 21:20SPEAKER_01: It means Republicans will immediately move to strip the governor of their power.
- 21:24SPEAKER_01: We've seen this before.
- 21:25SPEAKER_01: In North Carolina,
- 21:26SPEAKER_01: Wisconsin— Who use their lame duck session to just strip the power and just give it
- 21:33SPEAKER_01: to the legislature because Republicans are sore losers and fascists who ignore
- 21:38SPEAKER_01: the will of the voters at every opportunity.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: Still, losing control of the state's executive cripples their ability
- 21:45SPEAKER_01: to inflict nonstop harm on the public.
- 21:48SPEAKER_01: So any win is a huge victory for the country.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 21:52SPEAKER_01: We are now going to move on to state legislatures.
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: So 15 state legislative chambers could be broken up during the midterms.
- 22:01SPEAKER_00: That's giving Democrats an opportunity to snatch some of them away from Republicans.
- 22:06SPEAKER_00: Of the 15 chambers, nine are controlled by Republicans, three by Democrats.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: The University of Virginia Center for Politics nonpartisan newsletter,
- 22:20SPEAKER_00: Sabato's Crystal Ball, predicted as many as 10 chambers could shift left.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: Democrats could also potentially flip hundreds of state seats in November.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: This would be the first time since the 2010 Tea Party Uprising that Democrats have
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: a really, really good election at the state level.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: And considering all of the shitty laws the right has forced down the throats of
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: the American people, the shift is desperately needed.
- 22:46SPEAKER_01: And we talked about this during episode 117 a couple weeks ago.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: Republicans losing a trifecta means no more easy Republican tyranny.
- 22:55SPEAKER_01: Great.
- 22:55SPEAKER_01: But it also means an end to continued gerrymandering.
- 23:00SPEAKER_01: Like they can't gerrymander any more than they already have in those states.
- 23:04SPEAKER_00: Which is really the real win there.
- 23:07SPEAKER_01: But on the flip side,
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: every new state that Democrats pick up a trifecta in is
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: a new state they can gerrymander and they can just erase Republican House seats out
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: of existence.
- 23:22SPEAKER_01: Six states coming under full Democratic control,
- 23:26SPEAKER_01: that is dozens of Republican-controlled House seats that can just go poof
- 23:31SPEAKER_01: into thin air.
- 23:32SPEAKER_01: And we can already hear the howls of tyranny and that's unconstitutional from the right.
- 23:37SPEAKER_01: If Republicans have a worst case scenario on next Tuesday,
- 23:41SPEAKER_01: this is really going to be the fuck around and find out election that's going
- 23:45SPEAKER_01: to cripple them for the next decade or more.
- 23:47SPEAKER_01: And this is a party that's running out of time.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: Remember, Ted Cruz was crying big sobby tears over what state was it?
- 23:54SPEAKER_01: I think it was Virginia.
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: When Virginia was trying to do redistricting,
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: he was like, I can't believe Democrats are doing this.
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: It's like, motherfucker, your state started this and you're going to complain about Virginia?
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: Fuck you.
- 24:09SPEAKER_01: But Republican Party, they're in a lot of trouble here.
- 24:13SPEAKER_01: If they can't solidify their power, They're out of fucking time here.
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: The more Nazi they become, the less electable they get.
- 24:21SPEAKER_01: And they're becoming very Nazi very fucking quickly.
- 24:25SPEAKER_01: John Oliver's this last week,
- 24:27SPEAKER_01: this Sunday show was all about how many Nazis are in the Republican Party.
- 24:32SPEAKER_01: And if it's getting on to John Oliver, that's Main Street.
- 24:36SPEAKER_01: The press can only ignore this for so much longer.
- 24:41SPEAKER_01: And I mean, I've been talking about it for years.
- 24:43SPEAKER_01: John Oliver is talking about it now.
- 24:45SPEAKER_01: This is going to permeate into the press soon enough.
- 24:48SPEAKER_01: They can't ignore it for much longer because the fringe of the right never stays the fringe.
- 24:54SPEAKER_01: And what we've talked about repeatedly here for Democrats is if they get control
- 25:02SPEAKER_01: of enough of the House and they end the filibuster and All the gerrymandering ends.
- 25:08SPEAKER_01: All the filibuster ends.
- 25:10SPEAKER_01: Republicans lose the Supreme Court.
- 25:13SPEAKER_01: And then everything that Republicans have been doing in the States, it's over for them.
- 25:18SPEAKER_01: They have to have this unfair advantage in order to do what's Texas is not a red state.
- 25:24SPEAKER_01: Texas is extremely purple, tilting blue.
- 25:27SPEAKER_01: There's a lot more of us in Texas than you can tell because it's
- 25:32SPEAKER_01: so much voter suppression and it's so gerrymandered.
- 25:35SPEAKER_01: Look at Wisconsin.
- 25:38SPEAKER_01: Once we got rid of a lot of the gerrymandering and the voter suppression,
- 25:42SPEAKER_01: suddenly Republicans started losing there.
- 25:45SPEAKER_01: It's a miracle.
- 25:47SPEAKER_01: And that's a purple-ass state.
- 25:48SPEAKER_01: But all of that goes poof.
- 25:51SPEAKER_01: And we don't have to cheat to do this.
- 25:54SPEAKER_01: That's just us evening the playing field.
- 25:57SPEAKER_01: We don't even have to tilt anything in our direction because we don't need to cheat to win.
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: We just have to keep Republicans for cheating and they always lose.
- 26:07SPEAKER_00: Always.
- 26:08SPEAKER_00: They have to cheat to win.
- 26:10SPEAKER_01: So overall,
- 26:12SPEAKER_01: Tuesday is a huge deal in order to stop the creeping fascism,
- 26:19SPEAKER_01: but it's also a very huge deal.
- 26:22SPEAKER_01: In terms of steering everything back in the right direction,
- 26:26SPEAKER_01: you know,
- 26:27SPEAKER_01: the ramifications for Tuesday will have a big impact on what happens
- 26:31SPEAKER_01: in twenty twenty eight, which could be a very huge step in finally.
- 26:37SPEAKER_01: Finally getting through this fucking minefield of Republican fascism and obstruction
- 26:44SPEAKER_01: and everything else they've been doing to just destroy this country for
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: the last 60 years.
- 26:48SPEAKER_01: So big deal.
- 26:50SPEAKER_01: And it's not looking good for Republicans, but it's looking really, really good for us.
- 26:55SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 26:56SPEAKER_01: It is time to move on to headlines for short attention spans.
- 27:02SPEAKER_01: We warned that the Republicans' big ugly bill would cause millions of Americans
- 27:08SPEAKER_01: to lose access to food and medical benefits.
- 27:10SPEAKER_01: And that's exactly what's been happening,
- 27:13SPEAKER_01: which is another reason they're getting really hurt next Tuesday because a lot
- 27:19SPEAKER_01: of people have felt that pain.
- 27:21SPEAKER_01: And going into 2028,
- 27:23SPEAKER_01: this is going to be so much fucking worse for them because everyone's going to know
- 27:27SPEAKER_01: who did it.
- 27:28SPEAKER_01: And they're not going to blame trans kids and immigrants.
- 27:31SPEAKER_01: I keep saying this.
- 27:33SPEAKER_01: According to new Department of Agriculture numbers,
- 27:35SPEAKER_01: which God knows how much they've been massaging that,
- 27:38SPEAKER_01: but there's been a 13% decrease in the number of people
- 27:41SPEAKER_01: who receive food benefits this year.
- 27:44SPEAKER_01: That equates to roughly 5.1 million people.
- 27:48SPEAKER_01: The right has claimed that roadblocks were enacted will incentivize people
- 27:53SPEAKER_01: to get out and get jobs.
- 27:54SPEAKER_01: But experts and reality have pointed out this is not true
- 27:59SPEAKER_01: and there's more people are just now going hungry.
- 28:04SPEAKER_01: This country has added a really skimpy 776,000 nonfarm jobs.
- 28:12SPEAKER_01: During the last two years of Biden's presidency, 2.6 million nonfarm jobs were added.
- 28:18SPEAKER_01: Bit of a difference there.
- 28:19SPEAKER_01: Rona Kamar,
- 28:20SPEAKER_01: founder and executive of Feed Louisville,
- 28:26SPEAKER_01: told the Guardian that the food bank has always had enough food
- 28:28SPEAKER_01: to feed its community in the past.
- 28:30SPEAKER_01: Quote, but now that we are seeing is every day the shelves are empty at the end of the day.
- 28:34SPEAKER_01: So every bit of food that comes in our kitchen every day goes right back into
- 28:38SPEAKER_01: the community at the end of the day.
- 28:39SPEAKER_01: Schools are also having a hard time feeding students.
- 28:42SPEAKER_01: Many schools with large population families
- 28:44SPEAKER_01: that receive SNAP benefits would receive grants
- 28:46SPEAKER_01: to feed their entire schools free lunch and breakfast.
- 28:50SPEAKER_01: But now because of the declining numbers, schools aren't receiving that money.
- 28:54SPEAKER_01: In Houston,
- 28:55SPEAKER_01: 26 schools that previously provided free meals are not eligible for
- 28:58SPEAKER_01: the program any longer.
- 29:00SPEAKER_01: And this was a specific goal of the budget cuts.
- 29:05SPEAKER_01: Republicans openly fight against feeding children
- 29:10SPEAKER_01: while that's going out there going,
- 29:12SPEAKER_00: I'm so pro-life.
- 29:13SPEAKER_00: I love children.
- 29:15SPEAKER_01: But I don't want to feed the little fuckers.
- 29:16SPEAKER_01: That's the Republican Party.
- 29:18SPEAKER_01: That's who these people are.
- 29:30SPEAKER_01: It's like...
- 29:47SPEAKER_01: Are you even listening to yourself?
- 29:49SPEAKER_01: Don't you go to church on Sundays and praise Jesus and tell yourself what
- 29:53SPEAKER_01: a great Christian you are?
- 29:54SPEAKER_01: How do you not feed kids?
- 29:57SPEAKER_01: If you want to be mad at adults, great, fine.
- 30:01SPEAKER_01: You're still a piece of shit.
- 30:02SPEAKER_01: What do you always say?
- 30:03SPEAKER_01: There's no hate quite like Christian love?
- 30:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, seriously, no one hates children more than a pro-life Republican.
- 30:25SPEAKER_01: Nobody.
- 30:26SPEAKER_01: They're just fucking disturbing.
- 30:28SPEAKER_01: And yes, TV's right.
- 30:30SPEAKER_01: Trump's out there bragging about how rich he's getting and how much money
- 30:34SPEAKER_01: the oil companies are making.
- 30:35SPEAKER_01: And people at his fucking rallies can't afford a hamburger.
- 30:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's crazy.
- 30:40SPEAKER_01: But he's out there bragging about how rich he's getting from this.
- 30:42SPEAKER_01: It's like, you sick fucks.
- 30:45SPEAKER_00: Well, I've repeatedly told y'all that my husband will not leave the country
- 30:49SPEAKER_00: because he's concerned that he won't be able to come back home if he does.
- 30:52SPEAKER_00: He's a permanent resident and during a typical administration when he goes
- 30:56SPEAKER_00: through customs, they say, welcome home and let him go on his way.
- 31:00SPEAKER_00: But that's not what's happening right now under Trump.
- 31:03SPEAKER_00: And recently a person with the same status as my husband died in ICE custody
- 31:08SPEAKER_00: after being arrested at a port of entry.
- 31:10SPEAKER_00: Emiliano Andrade Covarevious was detained at a port of entry in Laredo,
- 31:19SPEAKER_00: Texas in June after trying to come back home after visiting Mexico
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: where he was building a house.
- 31:25SPEAKER_00: ICE agents detained him and claimed that he illegally obtained his green card
- 31:31SPEAKER_00: because he failed to disclose a 2004 theft arrest.
- 31:34SPEAKER_00: His family has said that's a lie, that he did disclose it.
- 31:38SPEAKER_00: And I will tell you this,
- 31:39SPEAKER_00: that when you apply for your permanent residency,
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: you have to get certified copies of your police records for every place
- 31:46SPEAKER_00: that you've ever lived.
- 31:47SPEAKER_00: So it's hard for me to understand how he could have lied about that.
- 31:53SPEAKER_00: While in custody,
- 31:54SPEAKER_00: his family claims that he wasn't given access to proper medical care,
- 31:57SPEAKER_00: even though he had diabetes, high blood pressure, and a heart condition.
- 32:03SPEAKER_00: Sadly, he died this month after being found unresponsive in his bed.
- 32:07SPEAKER_00: He's the seventh person to die this year in ICE detention in Texas,
- 32:12SPEAKER_00: just in Texas,
- 32:13SPEAKER_00: and the second at the Rio Grande Processing Center where he was being held.
- 32:18SPEAKER_00: Emiliano was in the U.S.
- 32:19SPEAKER_00: for decades,
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: raised kids here,
- 32:22SPEAKER_00: had a green card,
- 32:23SPEAKER_00: did every single thing he was supposed to do,
- 32:26SPEAKER_00: and still that wasn't enough to save his life.
- 32:29SPEAKER_00: And that's why people like my husband are once again living in
- 32:32SPEAKER_00: the shadows like they're fucking undocumented even though they're fully legal
- 32:37SPEAKER_00: and why we always say Nuremberg them all.
- 32:40SPEAKER_01: Nuremberg them all.
- 32:41SPEAKER_01: Now,
- 32:42SPEAKER_01: it's important to understand that conditions are like this in the detention centers
- 32:48SPEAKER_01: on purpose.
- 32:49SPEAKER_01: Stephen Miller, we now know he deliberately told them to do this.
- 32:53SPEAKER_01: There's now documentation that he wants them like this,
- 32:57SPEAKER_01: which means when this regime falls,
- 33:00SPEAKER_01: and it will, Stephen Miller must be fucking prosecuted for murder.
- 33:06SPEAKER_01: He has to.
- 33:08SPEAKER_01: He has to go to prison for the rest of his life.
- 33:10SPEAKER_01: Or he can just drink cyanide and hopefully I get a picture of his dead body
- 33:16SPEAKER_01: with some foam coming out of his mouth.
- 33:17SPEAKER_01: I really want that as a fucking desktop.
- 33:20SPEAKER_01: Stephen Miller dead on my desktop would be fucking magic.
- 33:24SPEAKER_00: As long as he deads himself.
- 33:27SPEAKER_01: Don't fucking kill your kids.
- 33:29SPEAKER_01: Leave your kids alone.
- 33:31SPEAKER_01: They're young enough.
- 33:32SPEAKER_01: They might fucking recover from you.
- 33:34SPEAKER_01: But just if you kill yourself,
- 33:36SPEAKER_01: Stephen,
- 33:37SPEAKER_01: please make sure you do it someplace where someone can get a picture of you.
- 33:40SPEAKER_01: But he has to go to fucking prison for the rest of his life.
- 33:44SPEAKER_01: And it has to be state charges so he can never be fucking pardoned by some future president.
- 33:49SPEAKER_01: He has to spend the rest of his life in prison.
- 33:52SPEAKER_01: You know, preferably surrounded by roaches and freezing conditions or no air conditioning
- 33:56SPEAKER_01: so he can experience what it's like because that's what he wanted for other people.
- 34:00SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 34:00SPEAKER_01: Last week,
- 34:01SPEAKER_01: we told you about Trump and Musk arguing about who is trying to murder Ukraine
- 34:06SPEAKER_01: on behalf of He's saying,
- 34:07SPEAKER_01: well, actually it was because Ukraine violated the terms of security.
- 34:22SPEAKER_01: We know they're lying because if that is what it was,
- 34:24SPEAKER_01: then that's what he would have said from the beginning.
- 34:51SPEAKER_01: And you know Trump is involved in this
- 34:54SPEAKER_01: because they both were just pretending we don't know how this happened.
- 34:58SPEAKER_01: Maybe Trump literally said maybe no one did it.
- 35:01SPEAKER_01: We don't know.
- 35:02SPEAKER_01: So we know they're both involved and we both Both know they were doing it on behalf
- 35:06SPEAKER_01: of Russia until the public pressure got to be too much because they both got outed
- 35:11SPEAKER_01: as being Russian stooges.
- 35:13SPEAKER_01: Both of these people are fucking traitors and they know Trump's not going to go
- 35:18SPEAKER_01: to jail because Trump has immunity.
- 35:20SPEAKER_01: And
- 35:25SPEAKER_01: he has to be fucking prosecuted for literal fucking treason.
- 35:30SPEAKER_01: Now, I'm sure Trump's going to try to give him a pardon before he leaves office.
- 35:34SPEAKER_01: I'm kind of hoping he just falls.
- 35:36SPEAKER_01: Elon Musk,
- 35:40SPEAKER_01: even if he gets a pardon,
- 35:42SPEAKER_01: his businesses have to be everything that every government contract has
- 35:46SPEAKER_01: to be canceled and his businesses have to be audited from top 10.
- 35:50SPEAKER_01: So they should do all of that and then kick him out of the country permanently.
- 35:55SPEAKER_01: So that's just my opinion.
- 36:14SPEAKER_00: Agreed.
- 36:15SPEAKER_00: So Trump's golf course renovation saga continued this week.
- 36:18SPEAKER_00: Judge Anna Reyes,
- 36:20SPEAKER_00: a Biden appointee,
- 36:21SPEAKER_00: issued a ruling prohibiting the renovator-in-chief from closing
- 36:24SPEAKER_00: the East Potomac golf links in D.C. or cutting down any more trees.
- 36:30SPEAKER_00: The judge was furious after DOJ attorneys argued last week
- 36:33SPEAKER_00: that she shouldn't pay attention to Trump's claims that the golf course would close
- 36:38SPEAKER_00: for renovations beginning on November 15th.
- 36:41SPEAKER_00: Instead, the government attorney said, The renovation was in its planning stages.
- 36:46SPEAKER_00: They didn't have anything concrete together and they don't know what they're going to do.
- 36:51SPEAKER_00: But don't listen to Trump's tweets because that's not true.
- 36:56SPEAKER_01: Please ignore the president.
- 36:57SPEAKER_01: He doesn't have any authority.
- 36:59SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 37:00SPEAKER_00: The judge wrote, quote,
- 37:02SPEAKER_00: rarely if ever has the United States Department of Justice urged a federal court not
- 37:08SPEAKER_00: to believe the sitting president.
- 37:10SPEAKER_00: And yet here we are.
- 37:12SPEAKER_00: In her latest ruling,
- 37:13SPEAKER_00: she ordered the government to give a 10 day notice to the court before closing
- 37:17SPEAKER_00: the public golf course or making any, quote, Irreversible Modifications.
- 37:22SPEAKER_00: She concluded her opinion by writing, quote, the court earlier stated, I'm not the Lorax.
- 37:29SPEAKER_00: I don't speak for the trees.
- 37:31SPEAKER_00: The court still does not speak for the trees.
- 37:34SPEAKER_00: It speaks only for the law.
- 37:36SPEAKER_01: These people are fucking monsters.
- 37:38SPEAKER_01: So this is not great.
- 37:40SPEAKER_01: Bird flu has been on our radar for a couple of years.
- 37:42SPEAKER_01: It's dangerous and we have a bunch of fucking morons in charge of the country's healthcare.
- 37:48SPEAKER_01: We've repeatedly talked about how bird flu is...
- 37:51SPEAKER_01: So, yeah.
- 38:07SPEAKER_01: Experts are very concerned that we're getting a lot closer to the bird flu making
- 38:12SPEAKER_01: that leap and becoming a huge fucking pandemic for everybody.
- 38:17SPEAKER_01: It's not going to take a lot.
- 38:19SPEAKER_01: It's going to take one or two little mutations and then it will be viable in
- 38:23SPEAKER_01: the human population.
- 38:24SPEAKER_01: And once it starts spreading, that's it, right?
- 38:29SPEAKER_01: Now, if it does happen,
- 38:31SPEAKER_01: it would be significantly deadlier than COVID-19 because that's just the nature
- 38:36SPEAKER_01: of this particular virus.
- 38:38SPEAKER_01: For it to spread to humans, though, to get to this point, it would
- 38:44SPEAKER_01: That would be much more helpful if it found an intermediate host.
- 38:47SPEAKER_01: That would be an animal that's vulnerable to diseases that spread in humans and birds.
- 38:52SPEAKER_01: Kind of like a bridge between the two.
- 38:55SPEAKER_01: That host animal would need to be in a crowded place where it can For
- 38:59SPEAKER_01: over two months,
- 39:00SPEAKER_01: an outbreak of bird flu has raged uncontrolled on a Utah farm that raises thousands
- 39:05SPEAKER_01: of
- 39:14SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's fun.
- 39:31SPEAKER_01: They're used to doing this already.
- 39:34SPEAKER_01: Instead of trying to stop the outbreak and prevent it from spilling into humans,
- 39:39SPEAKER_01: state and federal officials,
- 39:41SPEAKER_01: aka Republicans,
- 39:43SPEAKER_01: have done little to accept try to keep its existence quiet, our investigation shows.
- 39:48SPEAKER_01: Basically, what they should be doing is killing humans.
- 39:52SPEAKER_01: All of the fucking mink.
- 39:54SPEAKER_01: This is what they do with chickens when they get infected.
- 39:56SPEAKER_01: They kill the chickens to keep it from spreading.
- 39:58SPEAKER_01: They're not doing that with the mink because they don't want to lose the money.
- 40:03SPEAKER_01: Mink's a big business.
- 40:05SPEAKER_01: They make lots and lots of money for this and they don't want...
- 40:07SPEAKER_01: Okay, so on the one hand you have capitalism.
- 40:22SPEAKER_01: You don't want to cost them money because it would be millions and millions
- 40:25SPEAKER_01: of dollars they would be losing by killing these meek.
- 40:28SPEAKER_01: But on the other hand,
- 40:29SPEAKER_01: you have a human and health department, whatever, run by a literal eugenicist.
- 40:37SPEAKER_01: Okay?
- 40:38SPEAKER_01: RFK Jr. wants another pandemic.
- 40:42SPEAKER_01: He wants disease to spread.
- 40:45SPEAKER_01: He's against vaccines,
- 40:47SPEAKER_01: partially because he doesn't believe in vaccines,
- 40:48SPEAKER_01: but also because he believes disease Disease culls the herd that
- 40:55SPEAKER_01: the weak should die.
- 40:57SPEAKER_01: That if they don't survive, that that's good for society.
- 41:02SPEAKER_01: And another pandemic would be fucking amazing.
- 41:06SPEAKER_01: He wants people to die from disease.
- 41:10SPEAKER_01: He wants the elderly.
- 41:12SPEAKER_01: He wants the weak.
- 41:13SPEAKER_01: He wants the disabled.
- 41:15SPEAKER_01: He wants these people gone because he's a eugenicist.
- 41:19SPEAKER_01: He sees them as unfit.
- 41:21SPEAKER_01: He's not shy about this.
- 41:24SPEAKER_01: He's not shy about it at all.
- 41:28SPEAKER_01: Because he's concerned a bird flu pandemic would kill millions of people.
- 41:34SPEAKER_01: That is a net positive for him.
- 41:37SPEAKER_01: And for the regime, that kind of chaos would be fantastic.
- 41:43SPEAKER_01: Because it would allow them to clamp down on the country and just take more power
- 41:50SPEAKER_01: for themselves.
- 41:51SPEAKER_01: These are the people who screamed against,
- 41:53SPEAKER_01: you know, it's like, oh, government overreach, lockdowns were bad.
- 41:56SPEAKER_01: They would be the first ones.
- 41:58SPEAKER_01: To come in with jackboots stomping and declaring a public emergency.
- 42:04SPEAKER_01: And now you have to give us complete and total control in order to stop this rampaging disease.
- 42:09SPEAKER_01: And that means no more elections, no more protesting, no more this.
- 42:13SPEAKER_01: No more of this.
- 42:14SPEAKER_01: No more of that.
- 42:15SPEAKER_01: Oh, we just have to keep doing this until the emergency's over.
- 42:18SPEAKER_01: When's the emergency over?
- 42:19SPEAKER_01: Never.
- 42:20SPEAKER_01: That's how they, I mean, this is what they're thinking.
- 42:24SPEAKER_01: Remember,
- 42:25SPEAKER_01: in the first Trump regime,
- 42:26SPEAKER_01: when COVID started to spread,
- 42:28SPEAKER_01: More than half a million people died because they didn't care.
- 42:57SPEAKER_01: It was 1.4 million people.
- 42:59SPEAKER_01: Well, half a million extra people died on top of what it should have been.
- 43:05SPEAKER_01: So they could have done something and been like, we kept this from spreading.
- 43:11SPEAKER_01: We're heroes.
- 43:12SPEAKER_01: But they figured it would be more politically advantageous to do nothing.
- 43:16SPEAKER_01: So that's what they did.
- 43:18SPEAKER_01: Because they figured it was going to kill black people more.
- 43:20SPEAKER_01: It was going to kill poor people more.
- 43:22SPEAKER_01: And it was going to hurt blue cities more.
- 43:25SPEAKER_01: And that would help them.
- 43:27SPEAKER_01: And we saw what happened.
- 43:29SPEAKER_01: And imagine that.
- 43:30SPEAKER_01: But with a disease that's really, really deadly.
- 43:34SPEAKER_01: Like COVID was deadly.
- 43:35SPEAKER_01: Imagine something far more deadly.
- 43:38SPEAKER_01: And then we have a fucking healthy human resources run by RFK Jr.,
- 43:45SPEAKER_01: Who really does not care how many people die.
- 43:48SPEAKER_00: Because he's too busy snorting coke off of toilet seats.
- 43:52SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 43:52SPEAKER_01: Dissecting fucking whales and shit because he's fucking crazy.
- 43:56SPEAKER_01: So.
- 43:57SPEAKER_00: Well, let's wrap up headlines with some good news.
- 44:01SPEAKER_00: Matthew Iglesias wants us to stop paying attention to the elections in other countries.
- 44:05SPEAKER_00: He says it's really bad for our democracy.
- 44:09SPEAKER_00: But he's a moron who hasn't been right about anything in years, so fuck him.
- 44:13SPEAKER_00: In just the last seven days,
- 44:14SPEAKER_00: Brazil overcame election interference from Meta,
- 44:18SPEAKER_00: Trump, and Russia to re-elect Lula da Silva over Flavio Bolsonaro.
- 44:23SPEAKER_00: Maybe we should learn from Brazil's example when Trump tries again.
- 44:25SPEAKER_00: Maybe we should do that.
- 44:52SPEAKER_01: No, probably not.
- 44:54SPEAKER_00: It should be noted that Flavio immediately fled Brazil to come and hide in
- 45:00SPEAKER_00: the United States because we welcome foreign far-right dictators now,
- 45:05SPEAKER_00: at least until 2029,
- 45:07SPEAKER_00: when Flavio will have packed up and run again to another country
- 45:11SPEAKER_00: because we are taking power back.
- 45:13SPEAKER_00: We have an extradition treaty that Trump will ignore,
- 45:16SPEAKER_00: but President Democrat in 2029 will absolutely honor.
- 45:21SPEAKER_00: Meanwhile,
- 45:22SPEAKER_00: a two-year protest led by students in Serbia resulted in an electoral defeat
- 45:28SPEAKER_00: for Russian puppet Alexander Vucek, another blow to the global far-right cabal.
- 45:34SPEAKER_00: One wonders when Vucek will be arriving for a prolonged vacation in the United States.
- 45:40SPEAKER_01: Any day now, I'm sure.
- 45:42SPEAKER_00: Israel had its election on Tuesday and the results are not quite as clear cut.
- 45:49SPEAKER_00: Right now it appears that Netanyahu lost, kind of.
- 45:53SPEAKER_00: His party doesn't have enough seats to control the government
- 45:56SPEAKER_00: which would normally mean the war criminal is out of power.
- 45:59SPEAKER_00: But none of the opposition parties have a majority and none of them are willing
- 46:03SPEAKER_00: to make a coalition with the Arab-Israeli party,
- 46:07SPEAKER_00: which won a sizable chunk of the vote to take the majority.
- 46:11SPEAKER_00: Though I did look this up before we started and there are now talks happening
- 46:16SPEAKER_00: between the opposition parties.
- 46:18SPEAKER_00: So hopefully that means that they'll come together.
- 46:20SPEAKER_01: Oh, good.
- 46:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 46:23SPEAKER_00: So, you know,
- 46:25SPEAKER_00: obviously we understand that the Arab Israelis would make it harder
- 46:29SPEAKER_00: to continue slaughtering people in Gaza.
- 46:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that would be a condition of them joining a coalition.
- 46:35SPEAKER_01: It's like, you want to be in majority?
- 46:37SPEAKER_01: Great.
- 46:38SPEAKER_01: Stop the war in Gaza.
- 46:40SPEAKER_00: And West Bank.
- 46:41SPEAKER_00: Man,
- 46:41SPEAKER_00: I've been seeing a lot of videos of what the settlers are doing in the West Bank,
- 46:46SPEAKER_00: and it's really horrific.
- 46:47SPEAKER_00: And I always knew that it was horrific because unlike some people,
- 46:51SPEAKER_00: we've been following this for two decades.
- 46:54SPEAKER_00: But I think that seeing the actual videos on TikTok is so much different
- 46:58SPEAKER_00: than just hearing that it's happening.
- 47:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's really quite impressive.
- 47:02SPEAKER_01: And then they turn around and go, it's like, well, we're the victims.
- 47:04SPEAKER_01: It's like, no, that's how that works.
- 47:08SPEAKER_00: If Israel ever wants to prove that they're not the monsters Netanyahu turned them
- 47:13SPEAKER_00: into, they better suck it up.
- 47:15SPEAKER_00: Otherwise, they don't get to complain about being global pariahs.
- 47:19SPEAKER_00: We have faith, though.
- 47:20SPEAKER_00: They've kicked them out of power before.
- 47:22SPEAKER_00: The reason this all matters is that these Ettoreans...
- 47:28SPEAKER_00: The reason this all matters is because these authoritarians work with each other,
- 47:32SPEAKER_00: both officially in public and unofficially behind the scenes.
- 47:35SPEAKER_00: On paper,
- 47:36SPEAKER_00: China and Russia are hostile to one another,
- 47:39SPEAKER_00: but North Korea has been sending supplies and soldiers
- 47:41SPEAKER_00: to help Russia invade Ukraine.
- 47:44SPEAKER_00: North Korea does not sneeze without the permission of Beijing.
- 47:48SPEAKER_00: Officially, we are at war with Iran and their ally Russia.
- 47:52SPEAKER_00: Officially,
- 47:53SPEAKER_00: we are at war with Iran and their ally Russia supplies them with targets,
- 47:58SPEAKER_00: targeting data to kill American troops.
- 48:00SPEAKER_00: But Trump is buying diesel from Putin for billions and pressuring Ukraine
- 48:04SPEAKER_00: to stop blowing up Russian oil infrastructure and blaming Ukraine for
- 48:09SPEAKER_00: the diesel crisis, even though it's a crisis that he created.
- 48:14SPEAKER_00: But authoritarians work together.
- 48:17SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 48:41SPEAKER_00: Doesn't seem to understand this,
- 48:43SPEAKER_00: just that he's simply lying to his audience because no one writing about politics
- 48:47SPEAKER_00: as long as he has is that fucking stupid.
- 48:50SPEAKER_00: Last week,
- 48:51SPEAKER_00: he said protesters shouldn't fight back against ICE because that only helps Trump,
- 48:55SPEAKER_00: which is obviously fucking not true.
- 48:58SPEAKER_00: Ignore these people and celebrate the downfall of dictators and scumbags.
- 49:04SPEAKER_00: Next Tuesday is our turn to kick global fascism in the fucking teeth.
- 49:10SPEAKER_01: And I can't wait for us to do it.
- 49:11SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 49:12SPEAKER_01: I'm going to be wearing my boots.
- 49:13SPEAKER_01: It's going to be delicious.
- 49:16SPEAKER_00: I will not be wearing my beard.
- 49:18SPEAKER_01: All right, it's time to move on to self-care of the week.
- 49:22SPEAKER_00: On Saturday, my oldest son, Aiden, came down from college and we voted together.
- 49:26SPEAKER_00: He was so cute.
- 49:29SPEAKER_00: I finished voting and he was in there for like 10 minutes longer
- 49:32SPEAKER_00: because he was checking his votes like a test to make sure
- 49:35SPEAKER_00: that he didn't accidentally fill in a bubble next to a Republican candidate.
- 49:39SPEAKER_00: And when he didn't know who he was going to pick for mosquito control...
- 49:43SPEAKER_00: He had to stop and look up the candidates, which I thought was so funny.
- 49:49SPEAKER_00: Mosquito control.
- 49:50SPEAKER_00: I didn't know who to pick either.
- 49:51SPEAKER_00: And I was just like, that one sounds good.
- 49:53SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 49:54SPEAKER_01: Republican mosquito control.
- 49:56SPEAKER_01: They might be pro mosquito.
- 49:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 49:59SPEAKER_00: Or yeah, seriously.
- 50:00SPEAKER_00: Oh, because you already hear it all the time here.
- 50:03SPEAKER_00: They're spraying us with chemicals from the sky.
- 50:08SPEAKER_00: You know, got to let that dang high fever spread.
- 50:12SPEAKER_00: So one of my son's professors is actually canceling classes on election day
- 50:17SPEAKER_00: and giving students extra credit for voting,
- 50:19SPEAKER_00: which I thought was a really great idea.
- 50:21SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 50:22SPEAKER_00: After we voted, we drove three hours to the University of Florida in Gainesville.
- 50:27SPEAKER_00: For those of you who pay attention to football, that's the Gators in the swamp.
- 50:33SPEAKER_00: For those of you who pay attention to true crime...
- 50:38SPEAKER_00: That's where the movie Scream,
- 50:41SPEAKER_00: there was a serial killer in Gainesville,
- 50:42SPEAKER_00: and that's why the movie Scream was created.
- 50:45SPEAKER_00: It was after that guy.
- 50:47SPEAKER_00: He was killing college students, you know.
- 50:49SPEAKER_00: I mean, I get that.
- 50:50SPEAKER_00: So we watched his girlfriend perform at a dance competition.
- 50:54SPEAKER_00: It was a really cool show.
- 50:55SPEAKER_00: I really enjoyed it.
- 50:56SPEAKER_00: I liked it a lot last year, too.
- 50:58SPEAKER_00: And she actually did almost all of the choreography for her dance team, so it was extra special.
- 51:04SPEAKER_00: And although they didn't win, we had a lot of fun.
- 51:06SPEAKER_00: Though, on the way home,
- 51:09SPEAKER_00: I had to drive because my son had to work a 12-hour shift the next day,
- 51:12SPEAKER_00: and I was listening to my true crime podcast,
- 51:16SPEAKER_00: and he literally popped up from his seat,
- 51:18SPEAKER_00: turned the podcast all the way down to like a seven so
- 51:22SPEAKER_00: that it sounded like Charlie Brown's teacher, looked at me, and then laid back down.
- 51:27SPEAKER_00: So I had to drive.
- 51:29SPEAKER_00: I had to drive for two hours in silence and I was pissed.
- 51:34SPEAKER_00: And the next day I woke up,
- 51:36SPEAKER_00: there was a text message from at 530 in the morning that said,
- 51:38SPEAKER_00: I'm really sorry, mom.
- 51:39SPEAKER_00: I know that I irritated you.
- 51:41SPEAKER_00: I was just trying to sleep.
- 51:42SPEAKER_00: And I said, well, you should be happy that we made it alive because at one point I did not off.
- 51:47SPEAKER_00: And I was like, oh my God.
- 51:49SPEAKER_01: He's got to learn how to fall asleep with noise around him if he's going to be a doctor.
- 51:52SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 51:53SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 51:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he's gonna have to figure that out.
- 51:56SPEAKER_00: But for now, you know, he's annoying.
- 51:59SPEAKER_00: So on Sunday, my aunt and uncle stopped by and visited us.
- 52:03SPEAKER_00: It's been a few months since we've seen them because they live on the other coast.
- 52:06SPEAKER_00: And that was really nice.
- 52:08SPEAKER_00: I like when we can get together.
- 52:09SPEAKER_00: We had a good time at my brother's house.
- 52:12SPEAKER_00: And then this week was the Bills bye week.
- 52:15SPEAKER_00: For those of you who don't watch football, that means that they didn't play this week.
- 52:19SPEAKER_00: They had a break.
- 52:20SPEAKER_01: Aww.
- 52:21SPEAKER_00: Which was good, I guess, because there wasn't a game to send me into a psychological spiral.
- 52:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I was wondering why I didn't get any screaming tweets from you or texts.
- 52:31SPEAKER_00: However,
- 52:32SPEAKER_00: we do play the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday,
- 52:35SPEAKER_00: so I'll be back to yelling at our defense again.
- 52:38SPEAKER_00: But until then, go Bills!
- 52:40SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 52:41SPEAKER_01: Well, Saturday, Anastasia drove us down to Richmond so we could all go see Lila.
- 52:46SPEAKER_01: Then I had her parallel park for the first time.
- 52:49SPEAKER_01: I didn't actually tell her she was driving the entire way or
- 52:51SPEAKER_01: that she would be parking when we got there because I found
- 52:54SPEAKER_01: that telling her Beforehand makes her super anxious about doing this stuff.
- 52:59SPEAKER_01: And while she just does it in the moment,
- 53:02SPEAKER_01: she doesn't have time to get stuck in her own head in the doom loop.
- 53:05SPEAKER_01: She did fantastic.
- 53:06SPEAKER_01: She was, however, extremely mad at me afterwards.
- 53:09SPEAKER_01: This is the price I pay for pushing her along.
- 53:11SPEAKER_01: It's what I do.
- 53:13SPEAKER_01: We had a really nice afternoon with Lila.
- 53:15SPEAKER_01: We didn't get to take her to vote because she had already early voted at my prodding.
- 53:19SPEAKER_01: I kept poking her.
- 53:21SPEAKER_01: Did you vote yet?
- 53:22SPEAKER_01: Did you vote yet?
- 53:23SPEAKER_01: And she was like, yep, we voted.
- 53:24SPEAKER_00: I was like, Yes!
- 53:27SPEAKER_01: So she's got that one down.
- 53:29SPEAKER_01: I've taught her well.
- 53:30SPEAKER_00: Always go vote early.
- 53:32SPEAKER_01: Uh,
- 53:32SPEAKER_01: but I let the girls spend most of the time that we were down there with each other
- 53:36SPEAKER_01: while me, Mrs. Ogre and Jordan hung back.
- 53:39SPEAKER_01: They haven't seen a lot of each other since Lila went to school
- 53:42SPEAKER_01: and they needed some time to reconnect and they did.
- 53:44SPEAKER_01: So it was really nice.
- 53:45SPEAKER_01: We, we went out to, um, there's a place near nearby.
- 53:49SPEAKER_01: I forgot with Carrie, Carrington, Carrie town.
- 53:52SPEAKER_01: It's like a really nice shopping area and the girls were running around.
- 53:55SPEAKER_01: They were going to different stores and they had a really great time.
- 53:57SPEAKER_01: Uh, Tuesday night,
- 53:59SPEAKER_01: Jordan had a concert at school that we found out about Monday,
- 54:04SPEAKER_01: which was a little annoying, but that wasn't ideal.
- 54:07SPEAKER_01: But Anastasia and I went while Mrs.
- 54:09SPEAKER_01: Ogre stayed home because she had a virtual meeting for something
- 54:12SPEAKER_01: with Anastasia's school.
- 54:14SPEAKER_01: It's not the first time we've done Divide and Conquer, but...
- 54:16SPEAKER_01: She wasn't thrilled she didn't get to go, but what are you going to do?
- 54:19SPEAKER_01: Jordan was supposed to sing a song with his class,
- 54:23SPEAKER_01: with his special needs class,
- 54:24SPEAKER_01: but he decided that he would rather stand on stage and disco dance instead.
- 54:29SPEAKER_01: He channeled John Travolta and he spent the entire time,
- 54:32SPEAKER_01: you know, going up and down with his arm.
- 54:34SPEAKER_01: Staying alive.
- 54:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he was doing Staying Alive the entire time.
- 54:36SPEAKER_01: It was very entertaining because autism does what autism does.
- 54:41SPEAKER_00: Oh, it was really cute, guys.
- 54:42SPEAKER_00: I wish we could share a video with you, but
- 54:43SPEAKER_01: we can't.
- 54:44SPEAKER_01: Oh, my God.
- 54:45SPEAKER_01: It was hilarious.
- 54:46SPEAKER_01: But, yeah.
- 54:47SPEAKER_01: So, you know, that's what we've been doing.
- 54:50SPEAKER_01: It was nice.
- 54:50SPEAKER_01: It was really nice to see Lila.
- 54:52SPEAKER_01: Jordan was having a good time.
- 54:53SPEAKER_01: And Anastasia was sitting there laughing.
- 54:56SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 54:57SPEAKER_01: That is it for today's show.
