- 0:00Speaker 1: Can you hear that? Can you hear that?
- 0:02Speaker 2: What's that with?
- 0:05Speaker 1: Well, that's silence because Trevor Long finally fucking left. Oh
- 0:10Speaker 1: my god, I swear to god, it's like when he
- 0:14Speaker 1: rocked up. It's like remember when you're a kid and
- 0:17Speaker 1: a bird flew into the classroom and was hitting the
- 0:20Speaker 1: fucking ceiling fans and all the kids would be going wild.
- 0:25Speaker 1: He's like a labrador that hasn't been for a run
- 0:28Speaker 1: in two weeks.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Yeah. The only thing that doesn't match that description he's
- 0:32Speaker 2: not allowed to near kids. I don't have that court cases.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Get a Trevor, if you're listening, you bought this on yourself, buddy,
- 0:40Speaker 1: could not get a word in with that guy. I
- 0:42Speaker 1: quickly realized it was just best to just sit back
- 0:46Speaker 1: and just you know, when you kind of meet like
- 0:49Speaker 1: an ice addic on the street and you just kin't
- 0:51Speaker 1: have to give him time.
- 0:53Speaker 2: That was trev That was me with trev a special
- 0:57Speaker 2: guest today.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Yeah, well it's good that you swopt over a last
- 1:00Speaker 1: guest for someone decent.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Yes, well, last guest Trevor.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Trevor Long, Oh jesus, yeah, didn't he warm the stage
- 1:08Speaker 1: for you?
- 1:10Speaker 2: So elbows f la co founder of I Won't Clap, No,
- 1:15Speaker 2: please please clap.
- 1:17Speaker 1: He asked me to set this studio up like a
- 1:19Speaker 1: bas lumin movie. We have doves on standby confetti. That's
- 1:24Speaker 1: how he wanted to enter the building.
- 1:25Speaker 2: You know it? Me, well, yes, so, Elbows, I've known
- 1:28Speaker 2: you for like almost twenty years now, I think. Yes,
- 1:30Speaker 2: it's been a fucking while swear yes, absolutely, there's only
- 1:35Speaker 2: one word right into it. There's only one word you
- 1:37Speaker 2: can't say, and that starts with d n n's in
- 1:40Speaker 2: riveh because we'll get sued again. Yes. Sorry. It was
- 1:44Speaker 2: a good drive here though.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Remember back in the nineties when you used to just
- 1:48Speaker 1: get like the old fair facts.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Yes, yes, yeah, no known Elbows rages. Elbows was founder
- 1:58Speaker 2: of car Advice. We met shortly after that started. I
- 2:01Speaker 2: had my own.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Site, was that Oodles ofdoodles dot com.
- 2:05Speaker 2: It was the garage and yeah, we joined forces and
- 2:11Speaker 2: we'll hang on.
- 2:12Speaker 3: He was like twelve years old and he was on
- 2:14Speaker 3: his peap plates where he couldn't legally drive money in
- 2:16Speaker 3: the cars, but he used to hire hist pea plate
- 2:18Speaker 3: in his wallet and I put it like a sticker
- 2:20Speaker 3: over it when he picked up press cars, which was
- 2:23Speaker 3: very legal. But we had this investor who I guess
- 2:27Speaker 3: just wanted a son and he saw that in Paul,
- 2:30Speaker 3: so he decided there was a good idea if he
- 2:32Speaker 3: bought his business.
- 2:33Speaker 2: That guys was disturbing. He was disturbed. Now, but I
- 2:35Speaker 2: think of it.
- 2:36Speaker 1: I feel like that's very much a Giuseppe Pinocchio situation. Yeah,
- 2:40Speaker 1: he tell another lie Pinocchio. Sorry, but yeah, fast forward carried.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I sold to Channel nine in twenty sixteen.
- 2:50Speaker 2: To eighteen, two year now, and then we got the
- 2:54Speaker 2: fuck out of there because they were ruining that and
- 2:58Speaker 2: there's a lot of dispear as to who thought we
- 3:00Speaker 2: should leave.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Paul tries to take credit for this, but realistically, I'm
- 3:04Speaker 3: pretty sure I can take credit for it.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Yeah, right, So did you see the building starting to
- 3:08Speaker 1: fire up?
- 3:08Speaker 2: Like?
- 3:09Speaker 1: What was the look?
- 3:10Speaker 3: The main reason was they asked me to write a
- 3:13Speaker 3: content plan for automotive and for auto in general, for
- 3:18Speaker 3: co Advice and nine, and I wrote a content plan
- 3:21Speaker 3: and they said no, no, no, we wanted you to
- 3:24Speaker 3: write the plan for how you were going to write
- 3:26Speaker 3: the content plan. And I was like, oh no, but
- 3:28Speaker 3: I've already written the content plan, said I know, and
- 3:30Speaker 3: it's really good, but we need you to write the
- 3:31Speaker 3: plan for how you were going to rout the content plan,
- 3:33Speaker 3: so that we could understand how that content plan was
- 3:35Speaker 3: put together. But I was like, but I've already done
- 3:37Speaker 3: the plan, and I can't work in an environment where
- 3:41Speaker 3: someone has.
- 3:41Speaker 2: To write a plan for a plan. Yeah, and I
- 3:44Speaker 2: gotta leave.
- 3:45Speaker 3: But yeah, we all met up in Geneva at the
- 3:47Speaker 3: Motor Show YEP, and we decided that.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Enough was enough and were literally all on the same
- 3:52Speaker 2: day press release came out without telling anyone. Yeah, and
- 3:56Speaker 2: then the guy that was running the show at the
- 3:58Speaker 2: time got the press release of the same time that
- 4:00Speaker 2: we sent our resignation emails and hit the fan briefly.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Oh wow.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Actually it was quite for quite a sustained period. But
- 4:07Speaker 2: you in a court case I heard of, just for
- 4:10Speaker 2: something different. But yeah, so as a good week. Yeah,
- 4:13Speaker 2: we started Car Expert after that, as in after the
- 4:17Speaker 2: restraint period ended.
- 4:18Speaker 1: And back in the early days, thanks for clarifying Paul, Yes, legally, God,
- 4:24Speaker 1: back in the early days, what was a little Pavlo
- 4:26Speaker 1: like he was really annoying and oh well, yeah, nothing's changed.
- 4:30Speaker 3: No, he really thought he was good at a lot
- 4:33Speaker 3: of things. He was a complete bogain that definitely hasn't changed.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Always wanted to show off that he could do burnouts
- 4:39Speaker 3: because somehow he thought that anyone buying a car cared
- 4:42Speaker 3: enough for that.
- 4:43Speaker 1: But you know, they had his little spark. He still
- 4:45Speaker 1: does that actually with his raptor. Check it out, guys,
- 4:48Speaker 1: you two can do doughnuts and a raptor.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Yes, well that that just to be one hundred percent clear,
- 4:53Speaker 2: that wasn't what caused the issue with my dip. It
- 4:55Speaker 2: just it was I think it was no, no, no, no.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Just again, legally, that is not what caused the issue
- 5:01Speaker 2: with my diff And we did actually run into one
- 5:02Speaker 2: issue once when I did the SS commodore came out
- 5:05Speaker 2: the ve and I went to see my mate who
- 5:08Speaker 2: worked at a servo when I did a little burnout
- 5:10Speaker 2: in front of the servo and did you do that
- 5:12Speaker 2: in front of I happen to be the managing director
- 5:15Speaker 2: of Holden And then the next day I've got a
- 5:17Speaker 2: call that it didn't really like me doing burnouts in
- 5:20Speaker 2: his car. So that was the end of Holden's for
- 5:22Speaker 2: a while.
- 5:22Speaker 3: But I think I think Paul's greatest greatest story at
- 5:27Speaker 3: Ciendvistre was when he used to take spy photos for
- 5:29Speaker 3: us with his seventeen kilometer long lens, and one time
- 5:33Speaker 3: he was doing spy photos of the Falcon, the last
- 5:35Speaker 3: ever Falcon actually, and he basically got accustomed by a
- 5:39Speaker 3: security guard and then all but ran over him on
- 5:42Speaker 3: the way out, and then there was all this legal
- 5:44Speaker 3: matters and police stuff and.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Oh yeah, literally that's what happened. I was at the
- 5:48Speaker 2: proven ground, got some shots outside of the private property,
- 5:52Speaker 2: perfectly legal. By the way, we got to a set
- 5:54Speaker 2: of traffic lights, it took some more shots legally, got
- 5:57Speaker 2: to Ford's headquarters in Geelong and took some shots through
- 6:01Speaker 2: the fence and security guard came out, boxed my car
- 6:04Speaker 2: in and I was like, I'm going to get the
- 6:06Speaker 2: fuck out of here. And then I got this little
- 6:09Speaker 2: gap and just as I was going, he grabbed the
- 6:11Speaker 2: door handle to open it. I'm like, fuck is this
- 6:13Speaker 2: guy doing? And then I got out of there and
- 6:16Speaker 2: he fell over and I was like, fucking hell, I
- 6:18Speaker 2: hope he's not hurt. And I sort of went back
- 6:21Speaker 2: to check that he was running. He's fucking moving. Let
- 6:28Speaker 2: me just finish that. And yeah, I got a call
- 6:31Speaker 2: from the police and they're like, we need you to
- 6:33Speaker 2: come down for questioning. I'm like, what the fuck? And
- 6:36Speaker 2: what they had claimed was that I climbed their fence
- 6:39Speaker 2: and I'm like okay, And I brought in my camera
- 6:42Speaker 2: for the officer to see the camera at this time
- 6:45Speaker 2: weighed like twenty kilos and I'm like, how do you
- 6:47Speaker 2: want me to climb the fence while holding onto this?
- 6:50Speaker 2: And then I showed him the photos that clearly showed
- 6:52Speaker 2: I was shooting through the fence because you could see
- 6:54Speaker 2: the fence. Yeah, and they told Ford to just worry
- 6:57Speaker 2: about security on their property instead of out on a
- 7:00Speaker 2: main road. So thankfully the guy was okay. But yeah,
- 7:04Speaker 2: after that, I was just something.
- 7:05Speaker 1: That would have been the start of a great relationship
- 7:07Speaker 1: with Ford, I imagine.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Yes, Well, they never found out up until this very moment.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Ah, didn't they.
- 7:12Speaker 2: I didn't know that. They never knew because they called
- 7:14Speaker 2: us and I said, we've spoken to the person involved,
- 7:18Speaker 2: and then I sat myself down.
- 7:20Speaker 1: So have I Actually he's coming in right now in
- 7:22Speaker 1: security guard Frank.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Well, I'm glad I could be the first to break
- 7:25Speaker 3: that NI twenty years in the meeting.
- 7:27Speaker 2: That's it. I felt bad for the guy because he
- 7:29Speaker 2: was obviously thought that he was doing his job, but
- 7:31Speaker 2: thankfully he wasn't too hurt, but.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Was grabbing a door handle of a moving peple. It
- 7:35Speaker 3: was not the smartest thing.
- 7:36Speaker 2: But what was he going to do when he opened
- 7:38Speaker 2: the door? Going to punch?
- 7:39Speaker 1: Drag you?
- 7:40Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah?
- 7:41Speaker 1: Did you so you published the picks?
- 7:43Speaker 2: Yes? After all that trouble with you? Yeah, you'd have
- 7:46Speaker 2: to write, Wow, it is weirder. There was one bloke,
- 7:50Speaker 2: and I've never really told this story. There was one
- 7:52Speaker 2: bloke that I met once and he was was this
- 7:55Speaker 2: in a dark alley? Well may as well have been,
- 7:58Speaker 2: because he shared a story about how he was stay
- 8:00Speaker 2: once and I'm like, well, this is start to a
- 8:01Speaker 2: great relationship. And I was at the proving ground getting
- 8:04Speaker 2: some photos over the fence and someone whispered, get the
- 8:09Speaker 2: fuck out of here, and We're literally in the middle
- 8:12Speaker 2: of nowhere, and I'm like, where the fuck is that
- 8:14Speaker 2: noise coming from? And he was up in the tree,
- 8:17Speaker 2: dressed in camo and it was my mate, but the
- 8:20Speaker 2: stabby guy, and he was hiding in the trees and
- 8:24Speaker 2: he had been there all day. So he got dropped
- 8:27Speaker 2: off at like six am, and I was there at
- 8:28Speaker 2: like four or five pm in the evening and he
- 8:31Speaker 2: had been in the tree all day waiting for a
- 8:33Speaker 2: car to come past. And you know, this was our
- 8:36Speaker 2: budget for doing spy photos.
- 8:38Speaker 3: When other competitors realized how effective they were, one of
- 8:42Speaker 3: them hired a plane to fly over the proving ground
- 8:44Speaker 3: with the spy photos really literally Yeah, and then he
- 8:48Speaker 3: get nearly as good as photos as pulled in in
- 8:50Speaker 3: his arrest worthy escapedes.
- 8:52Speaker 2: You know, the only thing that stopped all the photos,
- 8:53Speaker 2: aside from the potential legal incident, a beehive managed to
- 8:58Speaker 2: get established in the fence post that I used to
- 9:00Speaker 2: stand on, And I'm like.
- 9:02Speaker 1: That, I wonder what that's like now, Like I wonder
- 9:06Speaker 1: if if drones and stuff like that could do that.
- 9:09Speaker 2: You know. The clever thing for Ford, not not that
- 9:11Speaker 2: they engineered any of this, but it's it's it's in
- 9:14Speaker 2: a no fly zone because it's within the landing path
- 9:16Speaker 2: of Avalon Airport. So if you try and get a
- 9:18Speaker 2: drone up, it won't let you fly because it keeps
- 9:21Speaker 2: coming up with GPS things about it being in a
- 9:23Speaker 2: no fly zone, so you can't actually use drones around
- 9:26Speaker 2: there anymore. And also the other problem is there are
- 9:29Speaker 2: three prisons just near there as well, so they all
- 9:32Speaker 2: have drone blocking shit there too, So they dropped like
- 9:36Speaker 2: heroin packets.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you've thought about it. Left Donna some pictures.
- 9:41Speaker 1: It's just she's doing a bit of hard time. Actually yeah,
- 9:45Speaker 1: I think the message was that she liked to do
- 9:47Speaker 1: some hard time with you.
- 9:51Speaker 2: The Donna story because it doesn't listen to this horrible show,
- 9:54Speaker 2: but Donna spawned from our road trip from Adelaide to Melbourne,
- 9:58Speaker 2: where that lady at the a caravan park that we
- 10:02Speaker 2: stayed at was was secretly coming to our rooms for
- 10:05Speaker 2: a cheeky bang at knockout. Wow, So listen to this
- 10:10Speaker 2: more awesome.
- 10:10Speaker 1: But the thing is, you don't. I don't think Paul's
- 10:13Speaker 1: told you the actual story. She helped charge Paul's car.
- 10:16Speaker 1: I believe Paul did sneak into her caravan and quote
- 10:21Speaker 1: filled her up. I don't know what that means.
- 10:26Speaker 2: But apparently he used her side tit as a doner
- 10:29Speaker 2: that night. In reality, that lady was actually really nice,
- 10:33Speaker 2: so I bet she was.
- 10:35Speaker 1: She keeps calling the show. She keeps calling the show,
- 10:39Speaker 1: so you've you've got a bit of a checkered history.
- 10:40Speaker 1: One would say, with Paul. That's good.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Yeah, it's been good. It's been twenty years and.
- 10:46Speaker 2: When we left we decided to start cor Expert together.
- 10:49Speaker 3: We obviously have another co founder who is a far
- 10:52Speaker 3: more deserving co founder than Paul. He's a senile fool,
- 10:56Speaker 3: but he's not really I'm not sure if he still
- 10:58Speaker 3: knows he's a co founder and this business.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Actually doesn't know where he is most of the time.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Is much like Joe Biden.
- 11:04Speaker 3: We have an air tag on him just to make
- 11:05Speaker 3: sure he doesn't go tracking device.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Yes, just in case, just in case you get one
- 11:11Speaker 1: of those texts from the police. This man, yeah, this.
- 11:15Speaker 3: Man wearing a car expert shit, has it been walking
- 11:18Speaker 3: naked with his pants down?
- 11:21Speaker 1: Actually, it's funny you say that because I did meet him,
- 11:23Speaker 1: no joke. I did actually meet him at the Young
- 11:26Speaker 1: Day headquarters or both swapping a car around at the
- 11:28Speaker 1: same time, and he did have one ball hanging out
- 11:31Speaker 1: his shorts reeling lead. I was like, bro, you're gonna
- 11:36Speaker 1: do something about that. And he just like, he's got
- 11:38Speaker 1: lovely hair, like it's wind swept, and he looks interesting
- 11:41Speaker 1: and he just looked.
- 11:41Speaker 3: Out and in the son, you know, he claims that
- 11:44Speaker 3: he is the original ideator for NCIS TV show.
- 11:47Speaker 2: If you look him up on Instagram.
- 11:49Speaker 3: In his bio before it says you know, co founder
- 11:51Speaker 3: of cor Advice or correct, but it says founder of
- 11:54Speaker 3: NCIS TV show.
- 11:55Speaker 2: And every few.
- 11:56Speaker 3: Weeks he'll go on Wikipedia and try and change it
- 11:58Speaker 3: so that it says Anthony, and they keep changing it
- 12:01Speaker 3: back because there's no evidence to suggest that it has.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Anything to do with you know, how you could buy
- 12:04Speaker 2: a blue tick on Instagram. Now they refuse to give
- 12:07Speaker 2: him one because he claims to be the founder of
- 12:08Speaker 2: NCIS and his evidence he keeps sending us these pictures
- 12:12Speaker 2: from the nineties of an envelope that was addressed to
- 12:16Speaker 2: at the NCIS, which is a naval unit of some description,
- 12:20Speaker 2: and then a return letter but there's no script. Now
- 12:24Speaker 2: to his credit, he does.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Say that he pitched the idea to the guy who
- 12:27Speaker 3: ended up going and creating it. But as I always
- 12:29Speaker 3: explained to him, an idea is like one percent of
- 12:32Speaker 3: the job, right, actually doing it is what really matters.
- 12:35Speaker 3: So maybe he put the idea in the guy's head,
- 12:37Speaker 3: but knowing Tony, he would have done that and then
- 12:40Speaker 3: taken credit.
- 12:40Speaker 2: For the rest of yes, So anyway.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Wow, I can't believe that's not actually a joke. That's
- 12:45Speaker 1: a real story.
- 12:46Speaker 2: That's a real fucking story.
- 12:48Speaker 1: That's unbelievable. Do you know one thing I wanted to
- 12:50Speaker 1: bring up with you was, I've seen some pics of
- 12:52Speaker 1: your exquisite looking garage.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Oh well, well, I do have a garage that I
- 12:58Speaker 3: was very proud of up until quite recently when we
- 13:01Speaker 3: started meeting some people that had slightly better garages. But yeah,
- 13:05Speaker 3: I when I build my house, the main reason that
- 13:08Speaker 3: house was ever built was because we couldn't find a
- 13:09Speaker 3: house with a garage that big, so I had to
- 13:11Speaker 3: build it.
- 13:11Speaker 2: But a lot of effort went into that grass.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I bet tell us what's in there in terms
- 13:17Speaker 1: of cars? Yeah, I look, the cars, get some dead
- 13:19Speaker 1: bodies and drugs and guns and stuff like that.
- 13:21Speaker 2: All of it.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Tell me everything. Tell me about those documents that comes
- 13:25Speaker 1: from camera.
- 13:25Speaker 2: I want it all.
- 13:26Speaker 3: Look, I had Italian builders. I'm sure there's some dead
- 13:28Speaker 3: bodies in there. Look, I've got a bunch of cars,
- 13:32Speaker 3: and a few of them because I've always wanted them.
- 13:34Speaker 3: But I guess the most memorable car and there was
- 13:36Speaker 3: the first one I ever bought, which is my astamatin advantage.
- 13:38Speaker 3: So that was like the first time I ever had
- 13:40Speaker 3: real money. I bought that car and it was one.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Of the first cars that we ever got.
- 13:44Speaker 3: A car advice in terms of a proper exotic was
- 13:48Speaker 3: an Asston, and I remember driving it. If I ever
- 13:50Speaker 3: get money, it's the first thing I'm buying. And literally,
- 13:51Speaker 3: when I got money, was the first thing I fucking bought. Yeah,
- 13:53Speaker 3: And the problem was it was all my money. So
- 13:55Speaker 3: enough today it was like good back to being broke again.
- 13:58Speaker 3: But it was a life changing event. I always tell
- 14:00Speaker 3: people like, it's not really the car, it's not the experience,
- 14:03Speaker 3: it's not the driving. It's actually your network and the
- 14:05Speaker 3: people you meet through it and how all that changes.
- 14:08Speaker 3: And it really had a big impact on my life.
- 14:10Speaker 3: I'm lucky that I love cars, but being in this
- 14:13Speaker 3: industry like yourself as well, picking up cars and returning them.
- 14:16Speaker 3: In my opinion, there's nothing worse than the thought of
- 14:19Speaker 3: getting a really cool car and then giving it.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Back after a week.
- 14:21Speaker 3: It's actually it's a terrible experience because you live in
- 14:24Speaker 3: this weird fantasy state where you think you have this
- 14:27Speaker 3: great life with all these great cars, but reality you
- 14:29Speaker 3: don't it sucks you get these things, you experienced it
- 14:31Speaker 3: for a week and you give it back. Yeah, it's
- 14:33Speaker 3: really depressing actually, So you know, I was really glad,
- 14:37Speaker 3: you know, obviously after we saw our last business, to
- 14:39Speaker 3: have the capacity to buy a couple of the things
- 14:41Speaker 3: that I really loved, and that's been an awesome experience.
- 14:43Speaker 2: So we really hope to build this business up now
- 14:46Speaker 2: a lot bigger than what Cardis ever was.
- 14:48Speaker 1: It's cool to see though, like when you can sort
- 14:50Speaker 1: of walk down in your garage, especially if you're looking
- 14:52Speaker 1: at the aston there is a lot of pride in
- 14:54Speaker 1: something like that, where especially just one car in particular.
- 14:57Speaker 1: It doesn't have to be a whole fleet, but that
- 14:59Speaker 1: one thing you kind of go, man, I worked hard
- 15:02Speaker 1: for that, Like I really wanted that. That's the one
- 15:05Speaker 1: thing I wanted, and I worked hard for it. These days,
- 15:08Speaker 1: it might not be the most impressive car, might not
- 15:11Speaker 1: technically drive as good as some of the other cars
- 15:13Speaker 1: you mentioned you had a lotus whatever, the point is,
- 15:16Speaker 1: like you're always going to feel something so good in
- 15:19Speaker 1: that car, something so special compared to everything else that's
- 15:22Speaker 1: in there.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Absolutely, I mean I've got a Ferrari, I've got a Lambo.
- 15:25Speaker 2: I've got a going merk. But every time I get.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Into that aston, it reminds me of that feeling of
- 15:29Speaker 3: not being broke.
- 15:31Speaker 2: And it's hard to describe it.
- 15:33Speaker 3: But if you've grown up like Paul and I, or
- 15:35Speaker 3: you were broke all your life and then worked hard
- 15:37Speaker 3: and got somewhere, like having something to sort of remember
- 15:39Speaker 3: it by.
- 15:40Speaker 2: As I always said to.
- 15:41Speaker 3: My wife, if we ever like, like, if something really
- 15:44Speaker 3: bad happens, don't ever sell that car because that's the
- 15:46Speaker 3: one car that I'd like.
- 15:46Speaker 2: To keep forever. Yeah, it's a great feeling. So can
- 15:49Speaker 2: we then also share the story of how much other
- 15:52Speaker 2: people like your garage and the story about how some
- 15:57Speaker 2: young whipper snappers stole yes in the car but didn't
- 16:01Speaker 2: realize the cars were.
- 16:03Speaker 3: In the In the first two years of being in
- 16:05Speaker 3: my house, I've had I've been broken into this three times.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Brisbane is the youth crime capital of the world.
- 16:10Speaker 3: It really is. We have more car thefts than any
- 16:12Speaker 3: other state or when he had a city. If Brisbane's
- 16:15Speaker 3: compared to Sydney and Melbourne, it's insane, but we.
- 16:18Speaker 2: Do just because traffic is so bad in Sydney and Melbourne.
- 16:20Speaker 1: You can't get it, get away.
- 16:22Speaker 3: But also we just have so much police doing speed
- 16:24Speaker 3: camera gudia. They have nothing else to do. They couldn't
- 16:25Speaker 3: possibly do any other sort of policing. So yeah, I've
- 16:29Speaker 3: had my house broken into multiple times, had a car stolen.
- 16:33Speaker 3: But thankfully because of the layout of the house, I
- 16:35Speaker 3: have two garages and for most people, they don't realize
- 16:37Speaker 3: it's the same house. So the front of the house
- 16:40Speaker 3: looks like the front of the house where the garages
- 16:42Speaker 3: and the only garages, and usually people come in and
- 16:45Speaker 3: they just go back there and steal a car. So
- 16:47Speaker 3: now what I do if anyone wants to come and still.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Not Yeah, I'm just I'm taking notes and I'm drawing
- 16:51Speaker 1: out a little plan.
- 16:52Speaker 2: I genuinely leave the keys.
- 16:53Speaker 3: For the cars I once stolen, just on the kitchen table,
- 16:56Speaker 3: So if you ever want to come and get a car,
- 16:57Speaker 3: just come and take that and leave.
- 16:59Speaker 2: The rest alone. But it was quite lucky because they
- 17:02Speaker 2: took the keys to all his cars. They could have
- 17:04Speaker 2: figured out where they didn't realize that they were there.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Wow, so it's like had gone in sixty second scenario,
- 17:10Speaker 1: I think it was two minutes and thirty five.
- 17:11Speaker 2: They should see the village. The footage is so fucked
- 17:14Speaker 2: because these guys somehow got the code for his house.
- 17:18Speaker 3: And I've got a feeling one of the people that
- 17:20Speaker 3: was working on the house because it was shortly after
- 17:22Speaker 3: you moved in, right, Yeah, yeah.
- 17:23Speaker 2: I had a code for all trades, which is really dumb.
- 17:25Speaker 3: I should have made a code for every individual treaty,
- 17:28Speaker 3: but it had a code for all trades. Obviously, because
- 17:30Speaker 3: I didn't want to wake up at six sem in
- 17:31Speaker 3: the morning to let people in to finish the last
- 17:33Speaker 3: two weeks in the house before after we've already moved in,
- 17:36Speaker 3: I just gave him the code, just come in, do
- 17:37Speaker 3: what you gotta do. Yeah, And then yeah, at some
- 17:39Speaker 3: point they came in at one am and did what
- 17:40Speaker 3: they wanted to do as well.
- 17:42Speaker 2: So they were literally kids. Like you look at these
- 17:45Speaker 2: people and you're like, that is like a twelve or
- 17:48Speaker 2: thirteen year old kid. That isn't That isn't someone who's
- 17:52Speaker 2: a sophisticated criminal. That is a kid, mind you, man.
- 17:55Speaker 3: They got in the car, they unplugged my OBD tracker,
- 17:58Speaker 3: they took the dash cam off, they knew how to
- 18:00Speaker 3: turn it on. It was a jag, like you know,
- 18:02Speaker 3: if you haven't done a jag. It's a bit different
- 18:04Speaker 3: with the rotary dial and everything. Oh yeah, mate. They
- 18:07Speaker 3: were in the car and out very quickly.
- 18:09Speaker 2: You know the best part, they probably watched a car
- 18:11Speaker 2: expert review.
- 18:12Speaker 3: They probably did before. And you know what the other
- 18:14Speaker 3: funny poets, I did get the car back.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Yeah, oh wow, so they actually drove this thing out, and.
- 18:18Speaker 2: They drove it out. I got a couple of speeding tickets.
- 18:21Speaker 2: It's funny.
- 18:21Speaker 3: I reported the car stolen, and the only reports I
- 18:23Speaker 3: would get from it was when they sent me.
- 18:25Speaker 2: A speeding ticket.
- 18:26Speaker 3: And I was like, how the fuck can you watch
- 18:28Speaker 3: this car drive past, take a photo and then send
- 18:31Speaker 3: me a photo a couple of days later instead of
- 18:33Speaker 3: actually pulling at the fuck.
- 18:34Speaker 2: It just really shit me.
- 18:36Speaker 3: But yeah, I got the car back and there was
- 18:38Speaker 3: no damage. And I said to my wife, you would
- 18:40Speaker 3: have damaged the car more into.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Two weeks for there just taking it down to save play.
- 18:44Speaker 2: The wheels were still good scratches. There was no car
- 18:47Speaker 2: park bus. They were driving pretty well. I was probably
- 18:49Speaker 2: putting proper diesel, like proper diesel.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Yeah, all things aside, though, what's it like having someone
- 18:55Speaker 1: in the house to steal stuff or just like a
- 18:58Speaker 1: burglar in general would be bloody, terrifying. And I always
- 19:02Speaker 1: find it weird that there's almost laws that are set
- 19:05Speaker 1: up to protect them, like you can't just like you
- 19:08Speaker 1: can't just grab the cricket bat from under the band
- 19:10Speaker 1: and lay into their legs like you're the one that
- 19:13Speaker 1: gets sued.
- 19:14Speaker 2: I think you can, can't you. I don't think he can.
- 19:16Speaker 2: It's not on camera.
- 19:16Speaker 3: So well, the second time they were trying to break
- 19:20Speaker 3: into my house, I was up watching F one at
- 19:22Speaker 3: like one thirty in the morning and I see this
- 19:25Speaker 3: alert on, you know, because I've got all the cameras around.
- 19:26Speaker 3: It's like, you know, a person detected here, person detected there.
- 19:28Speaker 3: And I said, oh, I must be you know, nanny
- 19:30Speaker 3: coming home. Then I was like, well, you can't be
- 19:31Speaker 3: in four places at once, right, And I clicked on
- 19:33Speaker 3: one and it was like a three guys trying to
- 19:36Speaker 3: get into the door. And I was like, oh, I'm
- 19:37Speaker 3: going to go downstairs and going to talk to those
- 19:39Speaker 3: young men and tell them, you know, what a what
- 19:41Speaker 3: a horrible thing it is they're doing.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Choice.
- 19:43Speaker 3: So in my underway, I ran downstairs and clearly as
- 19:46Speaker 3: the elephant that I am I made so much noise
- 19:47Speaker 3: on the way down that they spooped and ran right
- 19:50Speaker 3: and then you know, I called the police. Police came,
- 19:52Speaker 3: and then when I looked at the footage.
- 19:54Speaker 2: I realized that they all had knives.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Oh, and I thought, I'm so fucking glad they ran
- 19:59Speaker 3: because this, you know, middle running down the stairs in
- 20:02Speaker 3: his underwear against three like fifteen year.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Olds with knives. I would have been stabbed death in
- 20:06Speaker 2: about ten minutes. Over what a car that they want
- 20:10Speaker 2: to take for a joy ride like that? Yeah? Look
- 20:12Speaker 2: to me?
- 20:13Speaker 1: Is that it? Marty? Just found good work, Marty.
- 20:16Speaker 2: There's wrong with the Mercedes bends though. The doors don't
- 20:19Speaker 2: come down for some reason because in every back of the.
- 20:21Speaker 3: House, so that's the back of the house, and no
- 20:24Speaker 3: one realizes that house is actually on two streets.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Man, that's a nice car. It's cool.
- 20:27Speaker 3: It's that lighting system took so long to make work
- 20:31Speaker 3: because it turns on in sequence.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Yeah, so you can actually get it to turn on.
- 20:35Speaker 1: I haven't got like a Yeah is that flora POxy
- 20:38Speaker 1: or is that like full on tile?
- 20:40Speaker 2: Wow? Yeah.
- 20:41Speaker 1: We never worried about cracking.
- 20:42Speaker 3: We were really worried about when we put it in.
- 20:44Speaker 3: But it never cracked. So they figured if it wasn't
- 20:46Speaker 3: cracking a week, it's never going to crack, and they
- 20:47Speaker 3: were right, it doesn't crack.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Wow, so's not crazy.
- 20:50Speaker 1: I feel like I can see a lotus in the back.
- 20:51Speaker 3: There is another car in there now that's not in
- 20:53Speaker 3: that photo, which is my mits Bishi two thousand g T,
- 20:56Speaker 3: which is, you know, my only Japanese cart, which I
- 20:58Speaker 3: do love.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Actually entirely overrated, yes, but still cool box. He's a
- 21:04Speaker 2: still on the waiting list for a Ranger Raptor, yeah,
- 21:08Speaker 2: and a b y D.
- 21:11Speaker 3: I would still rather have a Seal than a Raptor.
- 21:14Speaker 2: Too much power for him.
- 21:15Speaker 1: You could actually see one single tear rolling down.
- 21:20Speaker 2: We just we just came from Channel seven's upfronts and
- 21:23Speaker 2: there was this enormous black ram that's out the front.
- 21:31Speaker 2: There was a ram tr Rex, an enormous black thing.
- 21:34Speaker 2: And to me, that's you white.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Guys and fascination. Is it just something that you lack personally?
- 21:46Speaker 1: So did you see doctor Chris Brown your little soiree?
- 21:49Speaker 2: Yeah? So I've got to say we've been to a
- 21:51Speaker 2: few upfronts before.
- 21:53Speaker 1: And those who don't know who aren't in the media
- 21:55Speaker 1: game in the beers in the show Bears.
- 21:57Speaker 2: And Upfront is where they basically do an event where
- 22:00Speaker 2: you have everyone that spends money with you. Sorry, yeah,
- 22:05Speaker 2: everyone that spends money with you will come so you
- 22:07Speaker 2: can present to them all than new things you've got
- 22:08Speaker 2: for them in the next year, and they commit to
- 22:10Speaker 2: the spend. So Channel seven rolled out literally every single
- 22:14Speaker 2: celebrity on their pay roll. They had guy Spash and
- 22:16Speaker 2: seeing well you have though I noticed I had to
- 22:19Speaker 2: decline obviously for conflict of interest and stuff like that,
- 22:22Speaker 2: but so so, yeah, it was. It was quite an
- 22:26Speaker 2: epic event and I'm like, even I want to spend
- 22:28Speaker 2: money with them now. Yeah, that was it.
- 22:30Speaker 3: That was They did say a couple of things that
- 22:31Speaker 3: were quite interesting, and you know, not to speak ill
- 22:34Speaker 3: of our parent company, but they did say that more
- 22:37Speaker 3: people watch Home and Away than anything on Netflix. No
- 22:40Speaker 3: ted Lasso, Ted Lasso, but they did say more people
- 22:42Speaker 3: watch seven plus than Netflix, yes, which I was somewhat
- 22:47Speaker 3: surprised about. Well, they were saying seven plus had around
- 22:51Speaker 3: ten million subscribers, a ten point five so I'm curious
- 22:55Speaker 3: how many Netflix has for that to be why.
- 22:57Speaker 1: I don't think Netflix has ever released their figures in fact,
- 23:00Speaker 1: I know that stars who have like, for instance, comedy
- 23:03Speaker 1: specials on there, they'll never find out what their their
- 23:05Speaker 1: numbers are. They'll always keep thee so.
- 23:07Speaker 2: They don't even tell the people that have their own
- 23:09Speaker 2: shows on me.
- 23:10Speaker 1: They'll say their comedy special is doing excellent. That's the
- 23:13Speaker 1: word from Netflix, like officially, Hey you know you're doing this,
- 23:17Speaker 1: this and this, and they'll they'll never have the actual numbers.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:20Speaker 3: I think they only ever released global subscribe vibels, never
- 23:24Speaker 3: a region specific.
- 23:25Speaker 1: So anyway, but so, anyway back to business. When you
- 23:28Speaker 1: saw doctor Chris Brown, did you rip your shirt off,
- 23:31Speaker 1: flick flex your arms and just be like, check out
- 23:34Speaker 1: these swans they're sick.
- 23:36Speaker 2: No, I didn't. They didn't do that.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Yeah, he's talk out your deck instead and yeah, and
- 23:43Speaker 1: that was the end of that.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Do you think of this warm? But yeah, So I
- 23:48Speaker 2: don't even know why we mentioned the seven Front Oh
- 23:50Speaker 2: the t X. Yeah, so there you go. Yeah, the
- 23:52Speaker 2: by D Seal. So just talking about Cannie's briefly because
- 23:56Speaker 2: you know why not. So did you go to the
- 24:00Speaker 2: Seal thing? Yes?
- 24:01Speaker 3: I went to the megastore in Alexandria, which is actually
- 24:05Speaker 3: a pretty decent setup to be right. I've done a
- 24:07Speaker 3: really good job there. It's better than any test the
- 24:08Speaker 3: story ever walked into.
- 24:10Speaker 1: That's what immediately hit me too was the amount of
- 24:12Speaker 1: effort they've gone to with presentation that the projectors and
- 24:15Speaker 1: the cars on display.
- 24:16Speaker 2: It's it's this is from a company that didn't exist
- 24:20Speaker 2: in Australia what two years ago, and you know amazing.
- 24:23Speaker 1: We thought we were going to buy these cars from
- 24:25Speaker 1: a kmart at one stage, like a Camart car.
- 24:27Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you got your cars just there next to
- 24:29Speaker 2: the XD Falcon getting new treads.
- 24:31Speaker 4: Yeah, that's getting an oil change there, pad down your
- 24:35Speaker 4: your fucking shields, just over there near the year, near
- 24:39Speaker 4: the poor pish, near the fucking by d Moomade Moomade
- 24:43Speaker 4: the whale, right next to that bloody chubby whale.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Oh wait, that's Donna from a couch.
- 24:50Speaker 4: Get back in there, donor you're lazy sorry, So that
- 24:55Speaker 4: they've given up on that brand for that exact reason.
- 24:57Speaker 2: It's not called my car. Yes, so that just by
- 25:00Speaker 2: changing it, it's not woke. Yeah, but it's a good
- 25:04Speaker 2: looking thing. This hill, I've got it up on the
- 25:05Speaker 2: screen here. So this is a competitor to the Model
- 25:08Speaker 2: three except it's what twelve thousand dollars cheaper?
- 25:11Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, forty nine nine ninety plus one roads, so
- 25:13Speaker 3: you get on the road for low fifties. If you
- 25:16Speaker 3: order one today, you get it in December.
- 25:17Speaker 2: It's that's great. Not a bad looking car in there.
- 25:19Speaker 3: I got to say, it's got a bit of tayk
- 25:22Speaker 3: on to it.
- 25:23Speaker 2: They hired the was it the old Audi designer? Yeah,
- 25:26Speaker 2: so that's where that inspiration comes from. But the interesting
- 25:30Speaker 2: thing as well is that people bought Tesla's because they
- 25:32Speaker 2: were cheaper than established brands that were all over one
- 25:35Speaker 2: hundred grand for a sedan or whatever. But I wonder
- 25:38Speaker 2: if these guys are going to take the market now
- 25:40Speaker 2: because they're pretty close and you mentioned something interesting as well,
- 25:44Speaker 2: they have specific factories for right hand drive as well.
- 25:47Speaker 3: The bid success in Australia has come down to the
- 25:50Speaker 3: fact that a company called ev Direct actually went over
- 25:52Speaker 3: to China and so we're going to invest in help
- 25:54Speaker 3: building production lines just for right handwry for our market,
- 25:57Speaker 3: and they actually funded it, which is one of the
- 25:59Speaker 3: reasons why the cars have come here so quick and
- 26:01Speaker 3: so fast with Australian specification.
- 26:03Speaker 2: So that's been an amazing success. Story for them, And if.
- 26:05Speaker 3: You start to think about byd like Pulse that didn't
- 26:07Speaker 3: exist two years ago. There, you know last one. I
- 26:09Speaker 3: think they did about seven hundred and something sales. As
- 26:12Speaker 3: a contrast a brand like Polster, which is you know,
- 26:15Speaker 3: Volvo's offshoot brand no one knows about, they did one
- 26:19Speaker 3: hundred and eleven cars, and that is fucking embarrassing.
- 26:21Speaker 1: So didn't they come out and say something about their
- 26:23Speaker 1: depreciation rates, Like the depreciation of the Pollstar was just incredible?
- 26:29Speaker 2: Yes, the Polstar three three, Yeah, yeah, I mean that
- 26:31Speaker 2: thing is overpriced to start with. But I just think
- 26:34Speaker 2: that if you rationally look at a Polestar two compared
- 26:36Speaker 2: to a Model three now the Seal, there is no
- 26:39Speaker 2: logical reason to go and get a Polestar like you
- 26:42Speaker 2: would have to be at a thirty thousand dollars fleet
- 26:44Speaker 2: discun Like well, unless you're driving an Uber, but why
- 26:46Speaker 2: would you not then just go stock up fleets with these?
- 26:49Speaker 2: I mean, whatever the discount is for a Polestar too,
- 26:51Speaker 2: you could go buy brand new one of these from
- 26:53Speaker 2: you know, kmart, and then.
- 26:55Speaker 1: You go from the show rooms they I reckon they
- 26:58Speaker 1: look great. I think they're priced accordingly to.
- 27:00Speaker 2: So what is the starting price forty nine nine ninety
- 27:02Speaker 2: plus one roads. That's a better interior than the mode of.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Fact get the light. I think it's like a white
- 27:07Speaker 1: or light blue interior. I think you've got the choice
- 27:09Speaker 1: of but it looks more so white than Pace.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Model comes with high end sound system. Then they're selling
- 27:14Speaker 2: the Performance Model, which will do zero to one hundred
- 27:16Speaker 2: and under four seconds. Yeah, three point seven.
- 27:18Speaker 1: I believe even if you like trick this thing up,
- 27:20Speaker 1: you know, by the time you get all the add
- 27:22Speaker 1: ons and the long range and all that sort of stuff,
- 27:24Speaker 1: you're still getting it pretty much under a drive away
- 27:26Speaker 1: at under sixty yep.
- 27:28Speaker 2: And I think the one that is going to do
- 27:29Speaker 2: really well in Australia is the Sealed U, which is
- 27:32Speaker 2: the SUV's great So when that lobs, that's going to
- 27:35Speaker 2: go up against Model Why, and that will be significantly
- 27:38Speaker 2: cheaper than the Tesla. And I'm pretty sure does does
- 27:40Speaker 2: Tesla use the blade battery.
- 27:43Speaker 3: The one's coming out of China, I'm not sure. I
- 27:46Speaker 3: know that even Kia's gone to it now they're using
- 27:48Speaker 3: for the EV five. They're using the Blade battery out
- 27:50Speaker 3: of China, so that the thing that people don't know
- 27:52Speaker 3: about b White is that they've been making batteries for
- 27:55Speaker 3: thirty years. They're actually one of the biggest battery makers
- 27:58Speaker 3: in the world for mobile phones tops in that car,
- 28:01Speaker 3: so most of the evs actually used byd batteries regardless.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, there's a lot of like well earned excitement
- 28:07Speaker 1: about these guys.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's great. It's it's not like one
- 28:10Speaker 2: of those some Chinese brands made the mistake of coming
- 28:13Speaker 2: to Australia and not investing a huge amount of money.
- 28:15Speaker 2: These guys have dropped a lot of cash and they're
- 28:17Speaker 2: doing a really good job in terms of selling cars
- 28:20Speaker 2: and getting people into them that aren't you know, that's
- 28:22Speaker 2: what test Tesla does well. They're getting people that aren't
- 28:25Speaker 2: car people into these things, and that's what you need.
- 28:27Speaker 2: You want someone that isn't a car enthusiast to drive
- 28:29Speaker 2: you hones.
- 28:29Speaker 3: See, some of the established brands would be really fucking worried.
- 28:33Speaker 2: I would be because their brand, like yon Day they
- 28:36Speaker 2: were bringing in for I five, you can only get
- 28:37Speaker 2: like what five a month if they are allocated. Yeah,
- 28:40Speaker 2: what's the point.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Yeah, But even a brand like you know, Mitsubishi, which
- 28:43Speaker 3: is a great brand and has had some great historical product,
- 28:46Speaker 3: but the current range of cars just feel like they're
- 28:48Speaker 3: not the latest and the greatest, right, but they're still expensive.
- 28:52Speaker 3: And then you got a brand like MG, and you
- 28:53Speaker 3: got a brand like BYD that is not only undercutting
- 28:56Speaker 3: them but actually making you know, arguably better product. Oh yeah,
- 28:59Speaker 3: I'd be a little bit worried if I was Midsubishi.
- 29:01Speaker 2: And it's funny that the talk track when we're at
- 29:03Speaker 2: the Munich Motor Show from all the German brands was
- 29:06Speaker 2: that there needs to be tariffs on Chinese cars because
- 29:09Speaker 2: they're coming in and just decimating the European car market
- 29:12Speaker 2: with cheap cars. So yeah, it's an interesting.
- 29:15Speaker 1: It's an interesting argument though too. I mean like, when
- 29:17Speaker 1: somebody is bringing better competition to the table at a
- 29:20Speaker 1: more competitive price, then fuck, all you can do.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Is cry tariffs and taxes. Get your acts together. Absolutely,
- 29:28Speaker 2: If you can build this thing in China and ship
- 29:30Speaker 2: it to Europe and it's still cheaper than the car
- 29:32Speaker 2: you're manufacturing in Europe, yeah, that just tells me you're
- 29:34Speaker 2: not doing your business.
- 29:35Speaker 3: This is how the luxury car tax came about because
- 29:38Speaker 3: of that mentality. Well, we better stop all these other
- 29:40Speaker 3: brands from taking away sales from Australian cars and guess what,
- 29:44Speaker 3: they didn't work because we built shit cars here and
- 29:46Speaker 3: eventually people stopped buying them.
- 29:48Speaker 2: What is true? True, it's true, you know, but that
- 29:52Speaker 2: has not disappeared. So that's three hundred million dollars a
- 29:55Speaker 2: year roughly that the government is pulling in for doing
- 29:57Speaker 2: nothing and protecting nothing.
- 29:59Speaker 3: Well, three hundred million dollars if someone's gotta pay for
- 30:01Speaker 3: that referendum somehow.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Yes, good spend of money. That was.
- 30:06Speaker 1: Yeah, here we go, you old bitches.
- 30:11Speaker 3: Oh girl, I'm from Queensland. We had sixty eight percent
- 30:16Speaker 3: vote again.
- 30:17Speaker 1: But really, yeah, Victoria was interesting and is Pauline Hanson going.
- 30:23Speaker 2: Just around the quarter from you? Really?
- 30:25Speaker 1: You five fish and chips from the shop.
- 30:28Speaker 2: I don't think you'd tell it to me.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Like a big fan of your Pauline.
- 30:33Speaker 2: About three sheets too dark, it's right wow.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Actually, speaking of EV's, you're about to get a little
- 30:39Speaker 1: bit of muller back from the what's not a new
- 30:42Speaker 1: EV tax, but it's you're basically getting your EV tax back.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Yeah, look out our premier or former premier Victoria.
- 30:50Speaker 1: He's still alive, by the way, Linda hasn't cleaned him
- 30:53Speaker 1: up yet.
- 30:54Speaker 2: I'm not sure. Okay, he was last set in New York.
- 30:57Speaker 3: There's a great photo him looking homeless going through a cone.
- 31:00Speaker 3: That's right, and I thought, that's where you belong. That's
- 31:02Speaker 3: precisely where he needs to be.
- 31:04Speaker 2: So basically the key thing is the Andrews government brought
- 31:07Speaker 2: in the most ridiculous thing in the world, which was
- 31:10Speaker 2: a tax on electric vehicles. And it was I think
- 31:13Speaker 2: the dumbest part of this was that it was a
- 31:15Speaker 2: tax on not only full electric vehicles, but it was
- 31:17Speaker 2: a tax on plug in hybrids. Now you have no
- 31:21Speaker 2: ability to tell how much I've driven a plug in
- 31:23Speaker 2: hybrid on electric or petrol. It's impossible to tell unless
- 31:28Speaker 2: you log it, and it just doesn't work. So what
- 31:30Speaker 2: you had to do with an EV was put in
- 31:32Speaker 2: the amount you'd travel into the VIC Road's website and
- 31:34Speaker 2: it would send you a bill for each calomity you'd driven.
- 31:37Speaker 2: And anyway, a couple of road users thought that it
- 31:39Speaker 2: was a bit shit and they took it to the
- 31:41Speaker 2: High Court. And as far as I know, I don't
- 31:44Speaker 2: know enough about this, I know we got to whatever
- 31:46Speaker 2: is just beneath the High Court with our case. But
- 31:49Speaker 2: you can't appeal beyond the High Court. I don't think
- 31:52Speaker 2: that's like the top unless there was like an error
- 31:54Speaker 2: in law or something like that, you can't go. I'm
- 31:56Speaker 2: going to appeal it to the whatever above the High
- 31:58Speaker 2: Court that is the highest. So these guys were successful
- 32:02Speaker 2: in appealing that, and now what's going to happen is
- 32:05Speaker 2: they will have to refund not only all of the
- 32:08Speaker 2: fees they've charged, they will also be responsible for the
- 32:11Speaker 2: court costs of these road users that when you say
- 32:14Speaker 2: dare you mean you as the Victorian tax bill. Yes,
- 32:17Speaker 2: And the slide issue is we don't have any money
- 32:19Speaker 2: in Victoria and we have.
- 32:22Speaker 3: Because you locked up for two years and you were
- 32:24Speaker 3: a mask in.
- 32:24Speaker 2: A car by yourself. That could be part of it.
- 32:28Speaker 1: Small business perhaps, yeah, that's it.
- 32:29Speaker 2: We could to take our kids to playgrounds. It has
- 32:31Speaker 2: something to do with that. But anyway, the crux of
- 32:34Speaker 2: it is that they need to pay this back. Now
- 32:36Speaker 2: in Victoria is so in debt that each year we're
- 32:39Speaker 2: paying and I don't know the exact figure, but it's
- 32:42Speaker 2: in interest each year for the debt that we're in
- 32:45Speaker 2: and this is now just going to get added on
- 32:47Speaker 2: to it. We've got the Comwealth games that they botched
- 32:50Speaker 2: like it is it is really that Dan andrews ketch.
- 32:53Speaker 2: You safe doing?
- 32:55Speaker 3: Yes, aren't you glad?
- 32:55Speaker 2: I mean we're here in Brisbane. We had like I
- 32:57Speaker 2: think what three weeks of lockdowns and probably a lot
- 33:00Speaker 2: of weeks of sunshine. Yeah. Yeah, but anyway, that's that's
- 33:05Speaker 2: another podcast. But they talk a lot about that. But anyway,
- 33:08Speaker 2: great news for Victorian EV drivers. And can I just.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Challenge this thought? Yeah, going, why shouldn't he be owners paid?
- 33:16Speaker 2: I agree? So here's my thing. I don't pay anything
- 33:18Speaker 2: in fuel subsidy, and fuel subsidy goes towards roads, hospitals, education,
- 33:23Speaker 2: all that sort of stuff. Speed cameras, more speed cameras. Yeah.
- 33:25Speaker 2: What I think that we should have is a flat
- 33:28Speaker 2: rate for everyone, regardless whether you're in an EV or
- 33:30Speaker 2: a passenger car or whatever. You just pay per kilometer
- 33:33Speaker 2: the way, if you drive lots, you pay lots, and
- 33:35Speaker 2: if you don't drive much, you don't pay much. And
- 33:37Speaker 2: then they remove remove the fuel subsidy. Couldn't agree more?
- 33:39Speaker 2: How can you?
- 33:40Speaker 1: How can you police that at per kilometer?
- 33:42Speaker 2: Though? Well you do, stupid system they have here. You
- 33:44Speaker 2: know you ordered Its simple.
- 33:46Speaker 3: If you bring in mandatory roadworthies every year, then every
- 33:49Speaker 3: time you have to get a road with it, they
- 33:50Speaker 3: have to put in new kilometers and then.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Every year in some states you do South Wales is yearly.
- 33:56Speaker 2: You have to get a roadworthy every year.
- 33:57Speaker 3: Do it.
- 33:58Speaker 2: If your car's over three years old. They believe you're
- 34:00Speaker 2: allowed to talk money after three years. Yeahs over three years,
- 34:03Speaker 2: over three years old. Each year you have to Oh, God,
- 34:06Speaker 2: you grew up poor, didn't you. You never had this
- 34:10Speaker 2: was your dad.
- 34:11Speaker 3: Driving a rolls roy.
- 34:13Speaker 1: I hang on. Okay, First of all, I grew I
- 34:15Speaker 1: grew up in Melbourne, right. Secondly, i've been in Okay,
- 34:20Speaker 1: so I've been in New South Wales for by the
- 34:22Speaker 1: Beach nearly ten years. Yeah, that's it.
- 34:25Speaker 2: But fucking opera houses in the way only had eight
- 34:30Speaker 2: bedrooms going up.
- 34:31Speaker 1: And it was literally.
- 34:33Speaker 2: Like Tony a co Fender.
- 34:35Speaker 1: We're coming from a guy who we literally just looked
- 34:37Speaker 1: into your garage. Calm down, Ritchie rich Tony's thing was that.
- 34:41Speaker 2: He grew up poor. And we're on one of our
- 34:43Speaker 2: investors boats on the water in Sydney and he goes,
- 34:47Speaker 2: I grew up just over there, and he pointed towards
- 34:49Speaker 2: this headland and I'm like, Tony, I thought you said
- 34:52Speaker 2: he grew up poor. He's like, oh yeah, yeah, it
- 34:53Speaker 2: was just behind the trees and behind the trees he
- 34:56Speaker 2: had mega mansion the water. And this guy used to
- 35:00Speaker 2: tell us how POI was.
- 35:01Speaker 3: And then at one point he admitted that his dad
- 35:04Speaker 3: us told drive to school in these roles right, because
- 35:06Speaker 3: oh but.
- 35:07Speaker 2: It used to break that all the time.
- 35:09Speaker 1: And I'm like, yeah, that does not make you poor.
- 35:12Speaker 2: Rule wow, But no, I do think everyone should have
- 35:17Speaker 2: to pay per kilometer because then you replace the fuel subsidy.
- 35:20Speaker 2: And the other problem is the fuel subsidy. As you
- 35:22Speaker 2: get more EV's on the road and cars become more efficient,
- 35:25Speaker 2: that's going to diminish anyway, so you've got to have
- 35:28Speaker 2: something to replace it. And this is a fair system.
- 35:30Speaker 2: I think this works. And then if they do want
- 35:32Speaker 2: to do EV subsidies and whatever, which I don't love
- 35:36Speaker 2: the sound of. So New Zealand just got a new government.
- 35:39Speaker 2: They got rid of the other one retired whatever her
- 35:41Speaker 2: name was, and then they replaced that's it, and then
- 35:44Speaker 2: they replaced her and then they ousted that government as well.
- 35:48Speaker 2: They've just repealed what they called the ute tax over there,
- 35:50Speaker 2: which was basically an EV subsidy, and then it forced
- 35:55Speaker 2: people into EV's problem was there were no EV utes,
- 35:58Speaker 2: so if you had to drive a dual care for work,
- 36:01Speaker 2: you were basically penalized because that is the only vehicle
- 36:03Speaker 2: you can buy. So I think subsidies should only come
- 36:05Speaker 2: when you have a full range of electric vehicles that
- 36:07Speaker 2: give you an altime.
- 36:08Speaker 3: Why should people be forced into an EV. I just
- 36:10Speaker 3: think text people for a kilometer regardless of what.
- 36:12Speaker 2: They don't need to force them into it. But if
- 36:14Speaker 2: you want your incentives, then you can just use your
- 36:17Speaker 2: incentives through the taxation system of a few lovers. No,
- 36:21Speaker 2: I don't expect subsidy. I don't want any subsidies buying
- 36:24Speaker 2: EV because I don't actually know why I brought it,
- 36:26Speaker 2: But it's just buying EV.
- 36:28Speaker 1: What did I love the fact that you did buy
- 36:30Speaker 1: that and now you just pay it out? I don't
- 36:32Speaker 1: know it.
- 36:33Speaker 3: I also, did you really did it? I also bought
- 36:36Speaker 3: them all a white I had it for about eight
- 36:37Speaker 3: or nine days till my wife drove it for about
- 36:40Speaker 3: a week in a bit, and then it got about
- 36:42Speaker 3: eight percent charge and she just left it in the
- 36:44Speaker 3: shopping center, and I said to her, you do realize
- 36:46Speaker 3: it's a reusable item, right, it's not a one time
- 36:48Speaker 3: disposed of car. You know you can actually reacharge. Because
- 36:51Speaker 3: I haven't got time to recharge these things. You're gonna
- 36:53Speaker 3: have to come pick it up when you get back.
- 36:54Speaker 3: It was like, I can't to fucking leave the current
- 36:56Speaker 3: shopping center. She's like, I'm too scared to driving home.
- 36:59Speaker 3: It's going to run out of charge. It's like, fucking hell.
- 37:02Speaker 2: That's so I had to come home.
- 37:03Speaker 3: I was overseas, picked it up and then I saw
- 37:05Speaker 3: it and I put in the ad when I saw
- 37:07Speaker 3: it never recharged.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Really, it's got a great battery.
- 37:11Speaker 3: But when you sell a Ferrari a convertiblel say never
- 37:13Speaker 3: do it in the rain.
- 37:14Speaker 2: For me, it was like, never fucking reach out. Well
- 37:16Speaker 2: would you just based on your short ownership? Did you
- 37:19Speaker 2: like the technology? Though?
- 37:20Speaker 1: I liked?
- 37:21Speaker 3: What one thing that really freaked me out and I'll
- 37:24Speaker 3: talk about it here.
- 37:25Speaker 2: Although the person probably listens to this.
- 37:27Speaker 3: We have a couple of Tesla people that follow us
- 37:29Speaker 3: on Instagram, and my car had this bug in it
- 37:32Speaker 3: whereby it just kept dropping out music or some fucking
- 37:35Speaker 3: thing wrong with it, and I mentioned it on Instagram.
- 37:38Speaker 3: I put a story up saying, oh, you know, my
- 37:39Speaker 3: car's doing this. It fucking keeps disconnecting it. And then
- 37:42Speaker 3: about an hour and a half later I got a
- 37:43Speaker 3: message from a guy that works a test and say, oh,
- 37:45Speaker 3: no worries, mate, I logged in and I fixed it
- 37:48Speaker 3: for you. I'm like, oh, okay, that's kind of fucking weird, dude,
- 37:53Speaker 3: thank you.
- 37:54Speaker 2: Yeah. The fact that you.
- 37:55Speaker 3: Can log into my car remotely and probably tell exactly
- 37:59Speaker 3: where it is at all times, yeah, which.
- 38:01Speaker 2: Of course it does. It tracks. They even we did
- 38:03Speaker 2: a news story on it. Tesla employees were looking at
- 38:07Speaker 2: camera footage from the live camera footage that you can
- 38:10Speaker 2: now do through your phone of customers and they had
- 38:13Speaker 2: footage of a bloke walking pastes can't nake it, and
- 38:17Speaker 2: that was footage that they were sharing amongst.
- 38:18Speaker 1: Them were are you doing that now?
- 38:21Speaker 5: But it's kind of like weird, right, It is kind
- 38:24Speaker 5: of weird, and I kin kind of fiak me out
- 38:26Speaker 5: that I don't know if I want a car where
- 38:27Speaker 5: people can randomly just just happen to work at a
- 38:29Speaker 5: car company, which is kind of like not.
- 38:31Speaker 2: That hard to do. Work with Tesler they probably have
- 38:33Speaker 2: lots of employees that have access to whatever that system
- 38:36Speaker 2: was that he had access.
- 38:36Speaker 3: Yeah, it's one of the reasons why, you know, I've
- 38:38Speaker 3: got eighteen Ring cameras at my house. I don't have
- 38:40Speaker 3: any inside because I don't trust Ring employees not to
- 38:43Speaker 3: log in and look at it.
- 38:44Speaker 1: I do find it weird that they can log in
- 38:46Speaker 1: without like you know how you can do screen permission share,
- 38:50Speaker 1: Like they can do that without doing any sort of
- 38:53Speaker 1: permission stuff. That's so weird.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. Look to me, the tech, I
- 38:58Speaker 2: like the tech. If the tech was shit, I would
- 39:00Speaker 2: have known it because it's ugly and it has.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Lots of well you were paying out the Even the
- 39:05Speaker 1: new one I reckon. Look, I get the kind of
- 39:07Speaker 1: camera vibe on them. But I still think the new
- 39:10Speaker 1: one is a good update.
- 39:11Speaker 2: I think it's smarter. Is a fucking head up displayer.
- 39:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know why they're resisting that and and
- 39:16Speaker 1: needs the indicator stiff back.
- 39:18Speaker 2: Moving that to the steering whell was just the most
- 39:20Speaker 2: idiotic thing.
- 39:20Speaker 1: That's weird. That's when they did that yoke for like
- 39:23Speaker 1: two Yeah.
- 39:23Speaker 2: It's like a Ferrari sh Yeah, Ferrari so why would
- 39:26Speaker 2: you find like nice? But yeah, so that's the ev tax.
- 39:29Speaker 2: It is gone. And the good news is if you're
- 39:31Speaker 2: in New South Wales and I think w A was
- 39:34Speaker 2: talking about this as well, they're going to see that
- 39:36Speaker 2: this has been challenged and they probably won't go ahead
- 39:38Speaker 2: with it. So Victoria took one for the team. We
- 39:41Speaker 2: went into even more debt, but it looks like New
- 39:43Speaker 2: South Wales and w A is safe.
- 39:45Speaker 1: They're good like that, thank you for they're good, but
- 39:48Speaker 1: they're just they're very good like that. I wanted to
- 39:50Speaker 1: talk about MG four because we've recently just all jumped
- 39:53Speaker 1: in one. Not the same one. That's weird.
- 39:57Speaker 2: It did stank quite a lot.
- 40:00Speaker 1: We actually have that one downstairs, the orange one. Yeah,
- 40:02Speaker 1: and a sexy shade of looks like traffic cone orange
- 40:05Speaker 1: was blue.
- 40:06Speaker 3: That's a lambo color. It's called a borealis.
- 40:08Speaker 2: I'mious, EXA's the fucking color. You don't call it volcano orange.
- 40:13Speaker 1: There you got cute G four. I like the look
- 40:16Speaker 1: of it.
- 40:16Speaker 2: And that blue is Miami blue. It's bored from Porsche.
- 40:18Speaker 2: I'm not making this up. That's the colors that picked ah.
- 40:21Speaker 1: I thought that was from a Lambeau as well.
- 40:23Speaker 2: That looks like a lambo blue. Is Brixton a suburb
- 40:25Speaker 2: in the UK?
- 40:27Speaker 1: A UK vibe? You know they're still going with that coat.
- 40:29Speaker 2: Also, it's like it's kind of not UK anymore nasty,
- 40:36Speaker 2: you know that. It's a lot better now. Well, guess
- 40:38Speaker 2: the thing that guy's fucking working. I see all those
- 40:41Speaker 2: old mgs driving around. I'm like, I could not think
- 40:43Speaker 2: of anything worse to drive, really, I'd like one my
- 40:47Speaker 2: old man.
- 40:47Speaker 1: Did them up when he was like sixteen, and there's
- 40:50Speaker 1: pictures of like old tfs and stuff, and he was
- 40:52Speaker 1: putting fucking pipes around the sides of them, changing like
- 40:55Speaker 1: the front to like this chrome hideous But that's how
- 41:00Speaker 1: and nim god bye.
- 41:01Speaker 2: And they got into the rolls then yeah then.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Well no, they built their own cars and that's how
- 41:08Speaker 1: poor they were.
- 41:09Speaker 2: Is your garage of a view of the whole harbor? Yeah,
- 41:12Speaker 2: that's it. They saw all the cars coming in on
- 41:14Speaker 2: the boats.
- 41:15Speaker 1: Yeah, my parents aren't from sydney're very poor.
- 41:18Speaker 2: Mummy. Where's our servant this morning?
- 41:20Speaker 1: Yeah that's a good point. Where's my fucking milkshake?
- 41:23Speaker 2: This is a great car, I think at the entry
- 41:26Speaker 2: level at thirty eight grand. We drove the long range
- 41:30Speaker 2: seventy seven, which is like a top spectrim starts to
- 41:33Speaker 2: get up there. Well, it was only a few thousand
- 41:35Speaker 2: dollars cheaper than a Model three, and at that point
- 41:38Speaker 2: a Model three is just a bit more refined and
- 41:40Speaker 2: has better tech. But if you have a look at
- 41:42Speaker 2: all this seven year warranty, it's fairly quick. Reel will
- 41:45Speaker 2: drive dynamically. It's great. The ride is good. Yeah, I
- 41:48Speaker 2: don't know about the ride, man, I know that I
- 41:50Speaker 2: was a little bit firm. Have you driven a Model three, yes,
- 41:53Speaker 2: compared to a Model three or a Model Have they
- 41:55Speaker 2: fixed it in the new one? Partially? Right, yeah? Partially.
- 42:00Speaker 2: This is a really good look.
- 42:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I think design wise it looks really great.
- 42:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 42:03Speaker 1: The led headlights, it's so.
- 42:05Speaker 2: Many of these on the road.
- 42:06Speaker 3: No really, Yeah, in Brisbane it must be like fucking
- 42:09Speaker 3: going crazy because like every third car looks like an
- 42:11Speaker 3: Energy four. Now a lot of orange ones too. We
- 42:13Speaker 3: just have a thing for orange and Brisbane. I think
- 42:15Speaker 3: it's because we're happy people.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Yeah, you're like bright colors.
- 42:18Speaker 2: Yeah, happy. No no traffic, no lockdowns, just what the
- 42:21Speaker 2: fuck are lots of crime drivenile crime, share the cars.
- 42:26Speaker 1: It's share cars, that's right.
- 42:27Speaker 2: Yeah, and when can you have it? Well, just whatever
- 42:30Speaker 2: the fuck you want?
- 42:31Speaker 1: Really, he literally just advertised where his keys were sitting,
- 42:35Speaker 1: I mean every night of the week on the kitchen table.
- 42:37Speaker 3: Yeah, something for them. Don't damage the wheels, yeah, or
- 42:41Speaker 3: stabbing to do? If I come down and talk to you, just.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Go yeah, look for under forty thousand before drive away.
- 42:50Speaker 1: I look at a car like that, just some looks alone.
- 42:52Speaker 1: I think it looks great.
- 42:53Speaker 3: And again in Brisbane you get a six thousand dollars
- 42:56Speaker 3: incentive to buy one. Six thousand dollars That makes bring
- 43:00Speaker 3: a price down to free. Yeah, yes, that is so cheap.
- 43:06Speaker 2: Yaris. Yeah, you'd be crazy not to buy that. Actually,
- 43:09Speaker 2: what do you think about Toyota resisting electric vehicles? Do
- 43:11Speaker 2: you think longer term it's a good strategy.
- 43:14Speaker 3: No, I think it's a terrible idea. And I think
- 43:16Speaker 3: Turto has been resting on his laurels for so fucking long.
- 43:19Speaker 3: At some point they need to get some point. Yeah,
- 43:22Speaker 3: they will pay for it, and it's not yet, but
- 43:23Speaker 3: they were at some point.
- 43:24Speaker 1: Didn't they just do the high locks, don't you?
- 43:28Speaker 6: No?
- 43:28Speaker 2: I didn't James in our Melbourne office driver. It has
- 43:31Speaker 2: a driving range of two hundred kilometers and they haven't
- 43:34Speaker 2: stated payload or towing or whether it will do either
- 43:37Speaker 2: of those things. What is the point? So how much
- 43:39Speaker 2: is it? They haven't announced that either, but they're boasting
- 43:42Speaker 2: that they will use it in Thailand as a taxi.
- 43:44Speaker 2: So they load like twelve people onto the back of
- 43:46Speaker 2: it with a canopy and I'm.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Like, serious, how is it?
- 43:50Speaker 2: But what's that good to do with Australia. That's old.
- 43:54Speaker 1: You can't do that. They're going to use it for
- 43:56Speaker 1: uber pool Thailand. Just sit in the back of your
- 44:00Speaker 1: co all right, real quick, MG four. I think it's
- 44:06Speaker 1: an impressive car for the price. It's got a good warranty,
- 44:09Speaker 1: it actually drives, okay. I think the road noise is
- 44:11Speaker 1: a bit.
- 44:13Speaker 2: It is actually a bit noisy. I actually did notice
- 44:16Speaker 2: that when we ran the dB meter on it, it
- 44:18Speaker 2: was it was a bit sort of because it is
- 44:20Speaker 2: so fucking quite otherwise, right, that's the theory. But I
- 44:23Speaker 2: don't know, maybe the insulation or something. I don't know.
- 44:26Speaker 1: It feels everything does feel a little bit tinny, like
- 44:29Speaker 1: some guys.
- 44:30Speaker 3: We're doing this a couple of years ago and some
- 44:31Speaker 3: are still doing it now with that. Noise cancelation is
- 44:34Speaker 3: so simple. It's a simple fucking microphone that listens and
- 44:37Speaker 3: then you know, does the opposite of the sound waves
- 44:39Speaker 3: through the speaker.
- 44:40Speaker 2: And you can't hear anything else. I wonder if that
- 44:42Speaker 2: technology got expensive because Ford in the Okay, yeah, so
- 44:46Speaker 2: Ford used to have it in the Ranger and then
- 44:48Speaker 2: they deleted it and just didn't mention anything. And a
- 44:51Speaker 2: lot of cars now have removed it. And I don't
- 44:54Speaker 2: know why that's the case, because, like you said, a
- 44:56Speaker 2: few years ago, it was a thing. It was the
- 44:58Speaker 2: and it was really good. It worked. Yeah, yeah, it
- 45:00Speaker 2: must be a patent thing. Yeah, I reckon something funny's
- 45:02Speaker 2: gone on there with a patent or something, because.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Well, Tesla's new Model three is apparently really quiet, and
- 45:08Speaker 1: they've got like acoustic glass on everything, and the.
- 45:11Speaker 2: Acoustic glass Ford Yess also have that and they removed
- 45:13Speaker 2: it because it was expensive. So I think all of
- 45:15Speaker 2: this stuff is just gradual cost cutting to make the
- 45:18Speaker 2: production of the car cheaper. And perhaps some of it's
- 45:21Speaker 2: been affected by semiconductors and other stuff like that.
- 45:23Speaker 3: The glass has a lot of semicon.
- 45:25Speaker 2: Maybe the machine that makes the glass.
- 45:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:31Speaker 2: Yeah, So have we sent merchandise yet? I know I
- 45:34Speaker 2: can't bringing this up?
- 45:35Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 45:35Speaker 1: Oh so that was our MG four. Um, yes, I
- 45:39Speaker 1: can call our merch guy right now if you're on.
- 45:41Speaker 2: Can I get some? Yes, we need to get you some.
- 45:44Speaker 1: Oh my god, yes, I would love it would be honestly,
- 45:47Speaker 1: I would love to see you drinking out of a mug,
- 45:49Speaker 1: not so much with my face on a Paul's face
- 45:51Speaker 1: on it. That would be amazing.
- 45:53Speaker 2: So John Couldogan took a mug.
- 45:55Speaker 1: Yeah, and John Cadogan took a mug. In every video
- 45:57Speaker 1: he puts up of him complaining about fucking three will
- 46:00Speaker 1: run away and ship I'm just looking in the background
- 46:02Speaker 1: from her mug. I'm like, where's my fucking mug that
- 46:04Speaker 1: I gave you?
- 46:05Speaker 2: John a.
- 46:08Speaker 1: Fucking ship down? Where's my fucking mug?
- 46:11Speaker 2: John? He's hilarious.
- 46:13Speaker 1: I love the guy.
- 46:14Speaker 2: That episode was so fun. It got us into a
- 46:17Speaker 2: lot of trouble, but it was so it was great fun.
- 46:21Speaker 2: Here we go. You can telemarketer. His name's.
- 46:27Speaker 6: Fistol waters Hey, Gussie, how are you?
- 46:32Speaker 1: I told you? He talks like a Bond villain?
- 46:35Speaker 2: Should we tell him? We were recording a podcast, so
- 46:37Speaker 2: he knows not to well, ought to swear.
- 46:39Speaker 1: No, no, he can swear. Give me some swearing in Croatian.
- 46:45Speaker 6: In Croatian, I can do in Brazilian Portuguese.
- 46:48Speaker 1: Oh that's right. I was very close.
- 46:53Speaker 6: How are you man, I'm not too bad. I'm not
- 46:55Speaker 6: too bad. We moved to a new warehouse, so every
- 47:00Speaker 6: is boxed and being unboxed at the moment.
- 47:04Speaker 2: Brazilians do love boxes, that's right.
- 47:08Speaker 1: Maybe we can do some unboxing of our merge sometimes.
- 47:12Speaker 6: Well, yes, I think I owe you a couple of
- 47:16Speaker 6: cases of I think we talked about the mugs and stuff.
- 47:21Speaker 1: But oh sure, I remember we talked about an eight
- 47:23Speaker 1: ball and hookers. Yep, that too.
- 47:28Speaker 2: I tell us about Machine's Plus all right.
- 47:31Speaker 6: So I'm being a graphic design in my entire life.
- 47:34Speaker 6: And when I came to Australia in two thousand and two,
- 47:39Speaker 6: I started to work with sign writers and then I
- 47:43Speaker 6: was invited to work for some of the main manufacturers
- 47:49Speaker 6: of large format printers in the world, so Canon Abs
- 47:53Speaker 6: in Roland, and he got into appointed that I decided,
- 47:57Speaker 6: you know what, I think I needed to do this myself.
- 48:01Speaker 6: So ten years ago I created Machines Plus, so a
- 48:05Speaker 6: different way to sell large for my printers round than
- 48:11Speaker 6: just selling people a box. I went, I'm going to
- 48:16Speaker 6: do something different. I'm going to teach them how to
- 48:18Speaker 6: use it. I'm going to teach them how to get
- 48:21Speaker 6: the best out of it. And ten years later, here
- 48:25Speaker 6: I am, I'm still going strong killing it.
- 48:28Speaker 1: Have you got a jingle like Machines plus no Fuss or.
- 48:33Speaker 6: Now? We call it a creating with you, So we
- 48:36Speaker 6: create with people. So I allow people to create things.
- 48:39Speaker 2: Oh I like it.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Well, we've created some merch from these legends, and it
- 48:45Speaker 1: sounds like it's on the way for our listeners. You're
- 48:47Speaker 1: a bloody legend, Gus.
- 48:48Speaker 6: Dairy legendary, and I hope that you're not lacked toosing tolerant.
- 48:53Speaker 2: I told you that's good. I like that. Well, we're
- 48:57Speaker 2: sorry for calling you, so, I like, we were just
- 48:59Speaker 2: like recording the pod cast and we thought, you know,
- 49:01Speaker 2: let's just give him a buzz and see what he's
- 49:02Speaker 2: up to.
- 49:03Speaker 6: Oh cool, Thank you, all right, Chat soon, chat soon,
- 49:07Speaker 6: see you guys.
- 49:07Speaker 3: Anyboddy, can I show you the photo of when Paul
- 49:10Speaker 3: calls me? It is the greatest I've ever seen in life.
- 49:14Speaker 2: Call elbows fla it's fella you fuck.
- 49:20Speaker 1: Oh my god, you have better tits than my wife. Jesus,
- 49:27Speaker 1: Holy heck.
- 49:28Speaker 2: Beneath that is a six pack.
- 49:30Speaker 1: Yeah, bloody VB. What are you smuggling more rolls in
- 49:35Speaker 1: a bakery?
- 49:35Speaker 3: He didn't notice his name at all.
- 49:38Speaker 1: I couldn't, sorry, I thought he was stealing some sultanas
- 49:41Speaker 1: he out under his shirt.
- 49:43Speaker 3: It's like, you know, a girl in high school stuffing
- 49:45Speaker 3: dishes and the accepting of dishes want to take the
- 49:49Speaker 3: dishes out. I think that's probably the greatest bat I've
- 49:53Speaker 3: ever taken.
- 49:54Speaker 1: Actually, at least how long have you been, Bloody wearing
- 49:57Speaker 1: that Lorna Jane sports bra.
- 50:01Speaker 2: A man bro Jesus.
- 50:03Speaker 3: His name was on my phone, he said, his Electric Jesus,
- 50:05Speaker 3: which is a gift from John Cadogan many years ago.
- 50:08Speaker 2: He called them in a video Electric Jesus.
- 50:10Speaker 1: We should go through some of these some of the
- 50:12Speaker 1: stuff on the DM, yes, real quick.
- 50:16Speaker 3: Fortunately the DM he got from the AI bot that
- 50:18Speaker 3: he thought with the lady following him, Yeah, yeah, See,
- 50:23Speaker 3: Paul has this weird conception that is an.
- 50:25Speaker 2: Attractive dude I've noticed, and he got this.
- 50:28Speaker 3: Random follow from this girl that clearly was way out
- 50:31Speaker 3: of his leg by.
- 50:32Speaker 2: Like a factor of fifteen. Yeah, and he's going, look at.
- 50:35Speaker 3: This man, and I was like three seconds of research
- 50:38Speaker 3: and it's an AI model and I'm like, dude, that
- 50:42Speaker 3: chick is so fucking hot it has to be fake.
- 50:45Speaker 2: And there's no way a real chick like that would
- 50:46Speaker 2: follow you.
- 50:47Speaker 1: So wasn't it just a female face put on that
- 50:49Speaker 1: photo that you on your phone?
- 50:51Speaker 2: Her body wasn't.
- 50:52Speaker 1: As good in reality? He just couldn't wait to pull
- 50:55Speaker 1: his pants off his own reflection. All right, lets check
- 50:59Speaker 1: out Damns real quick, Bigodator Jerry Dilga Dilga Dilda Jerry
- 51:05Speaker 1: Dilga Dilja. Good on me. I can't read Love the
- 51:10Speaker 1: Podfall has always been a big fan of Paul's male
- 51:13Speaker 1: friendly YouTube Yep Wow Love Talk God. He seems like
- 51:19Speaker 1: the fucked up friend we all need. Excuse me.
- 51:23Speaker 2: Friends pushing it.
- 51:24Speaker 1: You guys were talking about this and having shitty infotainment
- 51:27Speaker 1: got me wondering, have you ever done a breakdown or
- 51:29Speaker 1: could you do a review on good infotainment? That sounds
- 51:32Speaker 1: like a big challenge.
- 51:33Speaker 2: Actually that exists on our YouTube channel. We did when
- 51:36Speaker 2: we had the medium SUVs. We did an infotainment comparison,
- 51:39Speaker 2: it was an absolute flop. No one kid, right, it
- 51:43Speaker 2: is there.
- 51:43Speaker 1: It's interesting though there's some there's some brands that for me,
- 51:48Speaker 1: I don't really like their infotainment setup.
- 51:50Speaker 3: But here's the deal, right, if it has car play,
- 51:52Speaker 3: it doesn't matter, yes, exactly.
- 51:54Speaker 1: But I reckon that it should all generally roll into
- 51:57Speaker 1: things like air con and stuff like that, like if
- 51:59Speaker 1: you like physical buttons and otherwise, if you're using a
- 52:02Speaker 1: Volkswagen product with.
- 52:05Speaker 3: It doesn't even light up at night. There's no light
- 52:07Speaker 3: behind it when you get in the car. And now
- 52:08Speaker 3: it's like, oh, I guess I'll just fucking die of
- 52:10Speaker 3: the heat.
- 52:10Speaker 2: You right old freeze to death. Be too hot.
- 52:13Speaker 1: I was going to say Trevor and his Coopra. He
- 52:15Speaker 1: did come in here sweating, but Trevor always sweats.
- 52:18Speaker 2: So it was a short walk from the door to
- 52:20Speaker 2: the seat. Yeah.
- 52:22Speaker 1: Interesting one about their infotainment. I don't know. I think
- 52:25Speaker 1: it's very dependent on manufacture automotive groups.
- 52:30Speaker 2: Yeah, like Elbow said, if it's got car Player, Android Auto,
- 52:34Speaker 2: I mean, if it's got Android or just get an
- 52:35Speaker 2: iPhone and you'll have car.
- 52:37Speaker 1: Plays and definitely get wireless Apple Car plays something with
- 52:40Speaker 1: wireless Apple.
- 52:41Speaker 3: I never experienced the car with Apple couple that wore
- 52:44Speaker 3: it exactly.
- 52:45Speaker 2: Yep, they all drop out toll toll gantries for some
- 52:48Speaker 2: reason interfere with it. It drains your battery quickly. And
- 52:51Speaker 2: then if you put it on the wireless charge, ye,
- 52:55Speaker 2: your phone is molten lava when you take it off.
- 52:57Speaker 2: It's just crazy.
- 52:58Speaker 3: We did this road trip and then I eleven three
- 53:00Speaker 3: rs and they both have upper wildscar plet and fucking
- 53:04Speaker 3: neither car could maintain a connection.
- 53:06Speaker 2: For more than like an hour.
- 53:07Speaker 1: Yeah, really, my seting is great. What I just bought
- 53:12Speaker 1: us sober out back and you were Yeah, anyway, the
- 53:15Speaker 1: point is I get no interruptions in my super out
- 53:19Speaker 1: Interesting it could because I'm wearing like denim overalls and
- 53:23Speaker 1: listening to Missy Higgins and Nickelback. The lesbians listened to Nickelback.
- 53:27Speaker 2: Well, I mean, given Paul's photo, he should you should know.
- 53:30Speaker 1: We're talking about infotainment. You know who does good infotainment
- 53:33Speaker 1: is the BMW's.
- 53:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I reckon generally pretty good.
- 53:37Speaker 1: Yeah, don't they have They've got good race tech in it.
- 53:41Speaker 2: Please, I actually think that will do the best.
- 53:44Speaker 1: Yeah, the heads up display and.
- 53:48Speaker 2: I feel while you're driving. That's the other thing. If
- 53:51Speaker 2: you want to do something minor, you have to not
- 53:53Speaker 2: watch the road pretty much. You have to do that
- 53:55Speaker 2: just to see how fast you're going. Well that's a
- 53:58Speaker 2: good point, yeah, but actually be worth I know we're
- 54:01Speaker 2: gonna chat about this, but I'll very quickly pointed out
- 54:03Speaker 2: we did a road trip in a pair of GD
- 54:05Speaker 2: three hours is a signal yellow and a ruby baster.
- 54:10Speaker 2: We basically drove them brand new to fifteen hundred kilometers
- 54:14Speaker 2: to run them in for the launch, and because Melbourne
- 54:18Speaker 2: to Adelaide launchers at the bend was about eight hundred k's,
- 54:21Speaker 2: we thought, well it's just let's go scenic and we
- 54:23Speaker 2: drove down the coast to Portland. It was nice.
- 54:29Speaker 1: Did you see did you stop off and see Donna
- 54:30Speaker 1: on the way? She was in Regional Australia around that
- 54:33Speaker 1: way leg over.
- 54:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 54:35Speaker 2: Then stayed at Mount Gambia. And that's probably the one
- 54:39Speaker 2: and only time I need to do that in my life.
- 54:40Speaker 2: Like one guy actually said to us, were fueling both
- 54:43Speaker 2: cars up, and he was a roadworker. He goes, you
- 54:45Speaker 2: guys lost, and I sort of just laughed a little
- 54:48Speaker 2: bit and he goes, if I were you, I wouldn't
- 54:51Speaker 2: be sticking around here. And I'm like, okay, that's fair enough,
- 54:53Speaker 2: we'll get.
- 54:54Speaker 1: The full You need the Adelaide Hills because they chop
- 54:56Speaker 1: people up and put them in barrels. That's no fact.
- 55:00Speaker 2: Paul then into a few fucking barrels. Yeah, that's right.
- 55:04Speaker 1: So I went from back he would have normally just
- 55:06Speaker 1: turned around and gone. That was just from my penis.
- 55:11Speaker 2: I went from mac Gambia to Renmark, which is sort
- 55:14Speaker 2: of out back ish stated a caravan park, got recognized.
- 55:19Speaker 1: Right, which is great, and by dinner and then yeah.
- 55:23Speaker 2: Drive to the bend. So that was That was heaps
- 55:24Speaker 2: of fun. That videos now live on YouTube, so make
- 55:26Speaker 2: sure you go check that out. I threw a banana
- 55:28Speaker 2: at elbows. He then tried to throw one back at
- 55:30Speaker 2: me while driving, so that was fun.
- 55:31Speaker 1: Wow, antics can't wait to see this video for a banana.
- 55:36Speaker 3: Well, last time he actually hit me in the head
- 55:38Speaker 3: while I was driving, which is pretty dangerousus.
- 55:42Speaker 2: I wasn't expecting it to hit that. It hit fucking hard.
- 55:45Speaker 1: But by the way, when you have a car like
- 55:46Speaker 1: the GT three RS, I remember driving it thinking it's
- 55:51Speaker 1: such a brilliant, well engineered in every aspect car. You
- 55:55Speaker 1: really appreciate the price in a way. But you can't
- 55:58Speaker 1: drive that thing every day. What's your thoughts? Can you
- 56:01Speaker 1: drive that every day? Is it a daily No?
- 56:03Speaker 2: Is it too rough? No?
- 56:03Speaker 3: I mean there's no storage, so there's nothing in the front,
- 56:05Speaker 3: there's nothing in the back, there's nothing behind the seats
- 56:07Speaker 3: because the fucking roll cage. So if you genuinely had
- 56:10Speaker 3: one single calls back, it needs to go on the
- 56:12Speaker 3: passenger seat, which then makes it beat because it says
- 56:13Speaker 3: there's no one fucking sitting.
- 56:14Speaker 2: Yeah, you get a seat and then you put it
- 56:16Speaker 2: down there in the foot well and it's just like
- 56:17Speaker 2: a around. Yeah.
- 56:19Speaker 3: So no, you can't drive it every day, But no
- 56:21Speaker 3: one that buys that car doesn't have another car.
- 56:23Speaker 2: The bigger issue for me was the gearing. Seventh gear.
- 56:26Speaker 2: I only got seven gears and at one hundred and
- 56:28Speaker 2: ten ks an hour, it's doing like three thousand rpm.
- 56:31Speaker 2: It is so loud. Mean to sit in a highway,
- 56:34Speaker 2: but if you're driving to the track or something, you
- 56:36Speaker 2: drive it for an hour. We drive it for like
- 56:38Speaker 2: sixteen hours in total on highways, and very I drove.
- 56:42Speaker 3: It properly wherever I wasn't trying to do the red
- 56:44Speaker 3: limitter and Paul drove it like an idiot.
- 56:47Speaker 2: Well that was the story, right, It was who can
- 56:50Speaker 2: run in their car the best? And then we would
- 56:52Speaker 2: finish the video with the drag race to see who
- 56:54Speaker 2: ran it in the best and that car would be quickest.
- 56:57Speaker 2: So the results were interesting, cheated as usual. No, No,
- 57:01Speaker 2: Paul is just a superior driver, a supurious specimen in
- 57:04Speaker 2: every way.
- 57:04Speaker 1: Here we go. Do you want a bucket for this
- 57:06Speaker 1: pissing context? Which car do you reckon?
- 57:10Speaker 2: Has?
- 57:10Speaker 1: Which normal car? So I'm not talking supercars. I'm not
- 57:12Speaker 1: talking like Ferrari, Lambeau Porsche. But a normal car maybe
- 57:16Speaker 1: a BMW M three could fall into this that has
- 57:20Speaker 1: good solid race tech.
- 57:22Speaker 2: The three four definitely. What do you mean by race
- 57:25Speaker 2: tech though.
- 57:25Speaker 1: Well, I mean a lot of a lot of these cars,
- 57:27Speaker 1: especially like the sort of hot hatches and stuff. They'll
- 57:30Speaker 1: have cute little race tech in there, like they'll, you know,
- 57:33Speaker 1: stuff for the track for instance, you and Dae's doing
- 57:34Speaker 1: that track time.
- 57:36Speaker 2: Yeah, the BMW because they allow you to do You've
- 57:38Speaker 2: got the drift analyzer, you can do variable traction control,
- 57:42Speaker 2: you can set it to re will drive like that.
- 57:44Speaker 2: There is a lot of stuff you can do in that,
- 57:45Speaker 2: but you can't do another drift mode and stuff.
- 57:47Speaker 3: But the mgs have got a version of that now too,
- 57:50Speaker 3: you know, with the new sixty three that supposedly no
- 57:53Speaker 3: one wants to buy.
- 57:55Speaker 2: There's a good reason for that. But yeah, I reckon
- 57:58Speaker 2: BMW is probably pretty good.
- 58:01Speaker 3: It's not a really great car, by the way, that's
- 58:03Speaker 3: sixty three just doesn't have a v in in anymore.
- 58:05Speaker 2: I drove it.
- 58:07Speaker 3: It's one of the fastest things if you drank the
- 58:09Speaker 3: cool the same almost as quick as a Ferrari four.
- 58:12Speaker 2: And eight from a hundred two hundred, and it almost
- 58:14Speaker 2: weighs as much as the highlights. Literally.
- 58:16Speaker 3: Yeah, look, it's not the fastest car around the bends.
- 58:18Speaker 2: But most people that drive that car, they just want to.
- 58:20Speaker 2: It makes no interesting noises. That's the problem that most
- 58:23Speaker 2: people that buy that car.
- 58:24Speaker 3: It's all about the eight and I loved hearing it,
- 58:28Speaker 3: but it is if you take the sound out, it's
- 58:30Speaker 3: a more superior car.
- 58:31Speaker 1: You could argue that the sound makes it like I
- 58:33Speaker 1: don't reckon generally forget about like the EV six gts,
- 58:37Speaker 1: like the standard stuff I'm talking. I haven't really driven
- 58:40Speaker 1: a high performance ev well.
- 58:42Speaker 2: I mean the only real ones are like a tykwid Tobo.
- 58:44Speaker 1: S Well, that's that's probably the only one that's half enjoyable.
- 58:47Speaker 1: I think generally, it's like it's just a bit crap.
- 58:49Speaker 3: Having driven that car a lot, you do the you know,
- 58:52Speaker 3: launch control two or three times, or when someone new
- 58:55Speaker 3: gets in the car, and then you drive it like
- 58:56Speaker 3: a normal car because there's no emotion attached to it
- 58:58Speaker 3: gets boring. You don't need to and it actually makes
- 59:01Speaker 3: you feel sick when you accelerate that quick because it's
- 59:03Speaker 3: fucking fast. Because you don't have the sound to go
- 59:06Speaker 3: with it, your body can't really work it out.
- 59:08Speaker 6: Now.
- 59:08Speaker 3: I do wonder if that's because we've grown up with
- 59:10Speaker 3: sound and maybe kids now will think that's normal, so
- 59:12Speaker 3: therefore you don't feel unwell.
- 59:14Speaker 2: That's a good point.
- 59:14Speaker 1: Sad though, It's like if someone puts like your favorite
- 59:17Speaker 1: food in front of you. You see it and you
- 59:20Speaker 1: can taste it, so that's pretty much all you get,
- 59:23Speaker 1: but you don't get say, the texture and the smell,
- 59:26Speaker 1: Like there's so much when you're in a car that's
- 59:29Speaker 1: more than speed, you know what, I mean like you
- 59:32Speaker 1: want to hear it, you completely feel.
- 59:34Speaker 3: Everything a sense, yeah, in a few senses because the
- 59:38Speaker 3: sound and the vibrations and the gears and there's so
- 59:41Speaker 3: much going on in a naturally not even naturally just
- 59:44Speaker 3: a normal car that you don't get from an EV
- 59:46Speaker 3: But that is the times.
- 59:48Speaker 2: Yes, Actually there was one thing I wanted to mention.
- 59:52Speaker 2: So apparently there is a rumor that BBC is filming
- 59:56Speaker 2: an Australian top gear.
- 59:58Speaker 1: Oh yes, really like an Australian top kick because BBC
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: just canned the famous top kick in the UK out
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: Freddie Flintoff.
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: What was like nine million pounds they'd pay him for
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: lost earnings. Actually I thought it was more, but yeah,
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: so he basically got severely injured and has two years
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: of lost earnings and they've given him a stack of
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: money out of that. But apparently they're about to start
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: filming it now and apparently the rights How do you reckon?
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: Richard Hammond would feel about that though, given that he
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: like nearly he nearly died, plutty much died and he
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: got like severe brain injuries, he would.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: Have it in his contract flint Off for something like that.
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: But so what they're saying is that Channel ten is
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: going to pay for a show, but then it'll be
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: on a streaming service as well.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: Ran a story on this, we can't we can't mention
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: the name.
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: A publication ran a story on this and on Facebook
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: they were asking who should host it? My name is
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: mentioned about seven times this guy, So I'm not going
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: to be on this show. But what do you reckon?
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: Who do you think that? I think you do well
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: on that show? Paul?
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: I have absolutely I've got to say, more people watch
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: your YouTube than anyone watch Top Television.
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: Thing yea or Doctor Doctor Creed. But yeah, it is interesting.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: I wonder how Daniel would be good on that.
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: It would be great, but it's a seven talent so
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: that wouldn't work.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: You know, who genuine is gonna watch it?
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: Watch? No one would like first one, And in Australia
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: it's different. They destroyed a bunch of cars in the
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: first one and car manufacturers like, no, this is ship,
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: We're not doing this anymore. So so yeah, I think
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: that ultimately that's going to be the thing that prevents
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: it from working. So also the lack of fucking budget,
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: like and the you know, like top g UK and
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: it's heyday. They were spending was it three four million
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: pounds an episode? And the and like you know that
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: episode that in Japan where they drove the cars, the
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: GDRs and across. Now, they had a crew go over
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: a month in advance filming everything prior to the guys
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: showing up, and I've got to say some man amazing
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: shots of the whole Thing's not gonna fucking do that
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: for top gift, right. People don't understand when you film
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: a sequence where they're driving a long distance, you can't
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: It's not conceivably possible to do it and film it
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: at the same time. So you literally have to do
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: it all twice.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: Yeah, you're literally yeah, one for the one for the
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: b roll and the scenery shots, and the other one
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: is for the task.
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: And then the other giveaway as well is whenever you
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: see a car that's in a driving shot, whether it's
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: a fast driving shot or a slow driving shot, it'll
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: have a polarizer on the windscreens. You can't say who's driving.
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: And then that means they can have the talent do
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: the talking inside the car, make it look like they're
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: doing that, and then all of the exterior footage is
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: someone else driving shot at a totally different time anyway,
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: but yes, please leave us a comment and a rating.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: We do appreciate everyone and then contact it the Drivers
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: Show dot com today you if you want to get
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: in touch and have us read something. And I think
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: Gus is working on some merch, some merch that after
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: that story.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: And then there's a guy who will we're going to
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: call up. I don't know if we're going to have time,
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: but he runs the Australian Drift School and he was
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: going to offer I said no a joel h No.
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: I think his name's Fernando oh Alonzo.
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: No, let me find him.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: Uh yeah, he runs Drift School Australia down at Sydney
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: Motorsport Park. He's like, God, come down.
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: This will be interesting. Can you please video that? Can you?
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: Can you imagine one of our first major incidents.
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: Wouldn't be able to get him off a yacht.
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: One of our first major incidents at Caroos was Tony
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: attending to drift an FPV and then hitting the gutter.
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: So hard he drifted it just into a gutter, yeah, and.
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: Broke the rear axle and fucked the car and Ford
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: bannits for like a year, and no one fucking told
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: me that it has happened for like three weeks, and
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: I was like, what the fuck we fucking idiots doing?
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: You know, like, why would you drift the car on
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: a fucking public road? And most importantly why would you
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: give it to You can barely steers straight?
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: So you're going to go do some drifting?
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: Well, I believe that. Should we quickly call him? If
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: we've got time, We've got two seconds, let's quickly call him.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: I think he's an interesting guy. I think he used
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: to be like an Australian champion.
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: Or something, right Australia speaking.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: Hey, how you doing, bro? I'm good man. Hey, I
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: got your I got your message. I got your message
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: about about drifting, and you reckon you can teach me
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: a thing or two about drifting, huh.
- 1:04:30Speaker 7: I see that Paul seems to have some grasp on it,
- 1:04:33Speaker 7: and you're really struggling.
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: This is music to my ears. Unfortunately for old mates
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: over here, he is utterly hopeless. So I think you
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: could teach everyone, but just not him.
- 1:04:46Speaker 7: Okay, all right, well there's no there's no such thing
- 1:04:49Speaker 7: as hopeless. Surely we can get something out of here.
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: I think specials Maurice terminology. I think you can put
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: special stickers on the car for.
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: Those Fernando tell us about what you do, and I
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: guess how you teach people how to drift?
- 1:05:05Speaker 6: Right?
- 1:05:05Speaker 7: So we I mean we take people from all levels.
- 1:05:08Speaker 7: We even had a bunch of people turn up to Yeah,
- 1:05:10Speaker 7: let me tell you quick story we've had. We had
- 1:05:12Speaker 7: one instructor to come up to us and go, are
- 1:05:13Speaker 7: you are you guys taking a piece? And we're like,
- 1:05:15Speaker 7: we're talking about it. Guess I just I just had
- 1:05:17Speaker 7: five people in a row that didn't know how to drive.
- 1:05:19Speaker 7: Manual I had to give anual lesson. Are you guys
- 1:05:22Speaker 7: putting them in my car on purpose? And we're like, no, man,
- 1:05:25Speaker 7: it's just by a coincidence. But so that told you
- 1:05:28Speaker 7: that we get people from all levels, all walks of life,
- 1:05:31Speaker 7: all backgrounds, and yeah, we do our best to teach
- 1:05:34Speaker 7: them how to drift, and we you know, most of
- 1:05:36Speaker 7: the time we do get them across the line in
- 1:05:38Speaker 7: the given time that we've got obviously, So yeah, I
- 1:05:42Speaker 7: believe we've got hope for everyone. And yeah, we can definitely.
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: Help help aud out.
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: I reckon I can do it. Where is lacking Yes,
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: the thing is you reckon. You can get me doing
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: a figure eight by the end of like four hours.
- 1:05:55Speaker 7: I have no doubt, no doubt, no doubt. I see
- 1:05:59Speaker 7: pauls pretty good with the donuts, the continuous donuts.
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: Let's maybe start let's.
- 1:06:03Speaker 7: Crawl before we can well, let's crawl before we can walk.
- 1:06:06Speaker 7: Let's get you doing some donuts first, continuously, and then
- 1:06:08Speaker 7: we will look at the figure rates.
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: After that piece of Pierce La Troba University car park,
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: I could fucking sell you a Crispy Cream factory.
- 1:06:20Speaker 6: Impression.
- 1:06:21Speaker 7: All the thirty year old girls with those handbirds.
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: Okay, we're not allowed to mention that. Well, I'm excited
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: to see this. We're going to make sure that we
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: get the video of we'll get it.
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: I think we'll get him in because we can analyze
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: footage and we can do all sorts of stuff. And yeah,
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: it's good to talk to you man, Yeah.
- 1:06:37Speaker 7: Definitely, definitely. Look, let's get you out there, let's get
- 1:06:40Speaker 7: it all happen, and let's get you in and now
- 1:06:41Speaker 7: those cars and then sit down and discuss where you
- 1:06:44Speaker 7: improved where you're at, and yeah, we'll move forward from there.
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: Just a quick one for people who want to join
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: me on the day.

- 1:07:02Speaker 7: pretty quick.

- 1:07:26Speaker 3: Vinda doesn't atually know how to drive, and that's how
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: you're coming in.
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: You were doing.
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: Yeah, he's a quarter mile at a time guy, and
