- 0:00Speaker 1: Well, let's continue.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Hello, yeah, what?
- 0:02Speaker 3: Huh?
- 0:03Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, talk to us. Anything you want to talk about,
- 0:07Speaker 1: anything you want to announce, anything you would like to
- 0:09Speaker 1: take us down a peg, you could do that.
- 0:12Speaker 4: You know, maybe you weren't at our FanX panel and
- 0:15Speaker 4: there was a question you wanted to ask us.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Perfect, perfect opportunity. We have some people on the line
- 0:20Speaker 1: waiting already.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Hello, yeah, what?
- 0:23Speaker 1: Stephen. Hey, Stephen. Hello, Lorton lady. Hi. Yeah, you're welcome.
- 0:30Speaker 1: What's up?
- 0:32Speaker 5: I am Stephen Bird. I'm your friendly neighborhood independent candidate
- 0:35Speaker 5: for Congress. I'm running in Utah's U.S. House District 4
- 0:40Speaker 5: and want to get the word out that this year
- 0:43Speaker 5: you have a choice. You don't have to hold your
- 0:45Speaker 5: nose and vote for somebody you don't believe in. Vote
- 0:48Speaker 5: for your friendly neighborhood independent candidate.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Now, spell your last name, Stephen.
- 0:55Speaker 5: B-U-R-T. Any questions you got, I got answers.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Steven Burt. Well, you ought to be on Hello, Yeah,
- 1:02Speaker 1: What then.
- 1:03Speaker 6: Hello, yeah, what?
- 1:04Speaker 7: He is.
- 1:05Speaker 8: He called in.
- 1:05Speaker 1: He's right here. Who are you running against?
- 1:11Speaker 5: I'm running against Mike Kennedy, the Republican candidate, Johnny Larson,
- 1:15Speaker 5: the Democrat candidate, and Taylor Wright, the Libertarian candidate. And
- 1:18Speaker 5: I'm the only one of the four that actually lives
- 1:20Speaker 5: in the district. They all live outside.
- 1:22Speaker 1: So you're just in there to screw things up, basically.
- 1:27Speaker 5: No, I'm in here to give people what they want,
- 1:30Speaker 5: which is something other than the hegemony that we're facing
- 1:33Speaker 5: with the two-party system.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Well, well, well, you're never going to get votes using
- 1:37Speaker 1: big words like hegemony.
- 1:41Speaker 5: I'm trying to get your vote, Bill. You like big
- 1:43Speaker 5: words like hegemony.
- 1:45Speaker 1: I don't know. Where is District 4?
- 1:48Speaker 5: It's the lower kind of southwest quadrant of the state
- 1:52Speaker 5: that doesn't include Washington County. So think in Salt Lake County,
- 1:56Speaker 5: it's Sandy, Draper, West– Sandy, Draper, South Jordan, Washington. Harriman, Bluffdale, Riverton.
- 2:03Speaker 5: It doesn't include West Jordan or Midvale. That's in District
- 2:06Speaker 5: 1 now. It used to be in District 4. It
- 2:08Speaker 5: goes all the way out to the border, down the
- 2:11Speaker 5: border to just south of Fillmore but north of Beaver.
- 2:15Speaker 5: And then it includes a little bit of Utah County
- 2:17Speaker 5: but not a lot.
- 2:18Speaker 1: That's ridiculous. That's a crazy, humongous-shaped district. All right. Well, okay,
- 2:25Speaker 1: Stephen Burt. There you go.
- 2:28Speaker 5: B-U-R-T. StephenBurt.com. Hope I can earn your vote.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Okay.
- 2:32Speaker 9: Thank you.
- 2:33Speaker 1: A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 2:36Speaker 5: Oh, man, I should hire you, Bill.
- 2:38Speaker 1: See you later.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Bye.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Okay. I have so much to say, but I'm not
- 2:45Speaker 1: going to say it. 877-602-9696.
- 2:49Speaker 5: Chris.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Hello.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Yeah, what? Chris, what's up?
- 2:53Speaker 10: So you guys had a boner candidate a couple weeks
- 2:55Speaker 10: ago that was a butt sniffer, and I just wanted
- 2:58Speaker 10: to give you a change of perspective about– Why somebody
- 3:02Speaker 10: might be a butt sniffer that isn't perverse.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Huh?
- 3:05Speaker 1: That isn't perverse.
- 3:07Speaker 3: All right.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Let's see if you... I'm excited to see if you
- 3:10Speaker 1: can make this case. All right.
- 3:13Speaker 3: All right.
- 3:13Speaker 10: So, maybe not for an older gentleman, but I have
- 3:18Speaker 10: a child, or grandchild, who is autistic spectrum, who is nonverbal.
- 3:25Speaker 10: With autism, your senses.
- 3:28Speaker 11: Are very highly.
- 3:31Speaker 10: I don't want to say attacked, but sensitive, whatever. My
- 3:34Speaker 10: grandson is a butt sniffer, and it's not because he's perverse.
- 3:38Speaker 10: It's because there's a smell there that he's curious about
- 3:41Speaker 10: and he wants to know about to maybe assess who
- 3:44Speaker 10: you are.
- 3:45Speaker 1: How old is this child?
- 3:49Speaker 11: He's five.
- 3:50Speaker 10: He is in autism training school or behavior school. And
- 3:55Speaker 10: they are training him out of that. Good. Because obviously
- 3:58Speaker 10: it's not appropriate.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Yeah, good.
- 4:00Speaker 10: Obviously it's not a good thing we want to see
- 4:02Speaker 10: him do.
- 4:02Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 4:03Speaker 10: And so since he's no longer allowed to do that or,
- 4:06Speaker 10: you know, they've kind of trained him out of that,
- 4:08Speaker 10: now he has switched to once you leave your seat,
- 4:11Speaker 10: he will sniff your seat. And so now they have
- 4:14Speaker 10: to train him out of that.
- 4:15Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 4:15Speaker 10: So I'm wondering if the butt sniffer from your story.
- 4:20Speaker 1: It could be.
- 4:21Speaker 10: Is somebody who has just not been trained out of it,
- 4:23Speaker 10: who has not.
- 4:24Speaker 1: That could be.
- 4:24Speaker 12: You know?
- 4:25Speaker 10: Because they don't have these skills when they were younger.
- 4:28Speaker 1: We got that. That could be. But he was an adult,
- 4:33Speaker 1: but maybe... So you're saying maybe we should make a
- 4:37Speaker 1: slight allowance and... No.
- 4:40Speaker 5: I mean.
- 4:42Speaker 11: It's a hard thing, though.
- 4:42Speaker 3: It's an explanation.
- 4:43Speaker 10: Maybe this is something that wasn't.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Yeah, it's an explanation. It's an explanation of why someone
- 4:49Speaker 1: might do that. All right. Thank you. And best of
- 4:52Speaker 1: luck with your grandson.
- 4:54Speaker 10: Yes, thank you.
- 4:55Speaker 1: See you later.
- 4:55Speaker 9: Bye.
- 4:56Speaker 3: All right.
- 4:56Speaker 8: We learn all kinds of things on Hello, Yeah, What.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Hello, yeah, what?
- 5:01Speaker 1: Let's go to Alan. Hello, Alan.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Hello, yeah, what?
- 5:04Speaker 5: Alan. Oh, Alan.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Alan.
- 5:08Speaker 5: Alan?
- 5:08Speaker 8: Maybe not Alan.
- 5:09Speaker 5: Alan!
- 5:09Speaker 1: I'm sorry about that. Yeah, that's okay.
- 5:11Speaker 3: I muted what I meant to unmute. Have you guys
- 5:15Speaker 3: spent much time at the heavy metal shop?
- 5:17Speaker 8: Not in a while.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I have in the past. In the past, yeah. Just
- 5:20Speaker 1: not recently.
- 5:21Speaker 5: Why?
- 5:22Speaker 3: Well, I am actually directing a documentary about Kevin and
- 5:27Speaker 3: his shop and kind of the local Salt Lake City
- 5:31Speaker 3: punk and metal scenes here.
- 5:33Speaker 6: And.
- 5:35Speaker 3: We are putting on a show on Saturday at the
- 5:38Speaker 3: Urban Lounge.
- 5:40Speaker 7: To try and raise money for the production.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 5:43Speaker 3: And so anyone who would want to come, we'd love
- 5:47Speaker 3: to have you.
- 5:49Speaker 1: What kind of a show?
- 5:51Speaker 3: This ended up being all punk bands, this one. But
- 5:55Speaker 3: if this one's a success, we're going to do another one.
- 5:57Speaker 3: It might be more metal bands. And they're all local bands.
- 6:00Speaker 3: They're great. I can't believe we got them all in
- 6:02Speaker 3: one bill. and we're super excited about it.
- 6:05Speaker 1: You want to name some of the bands that you got?
- 6:09Speaker 3: Yeah, we have Pirates of the Promised Land, Hi-Fi Murder, P.S.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Destroy This, and Stratus.
- 6:15Speaker 1: All right, okay. And it's this Saturday at the Urban Lounge,
- 6:18Speaker 1: and is there a set entrance fee, or is it
- 6:22Speaker 1: just donate what you can, or how are you doing that?
- 6:27Speaker 3: We wanted to keep the tickets super cheap, so they
- 6:29Speaker 3: are $ 10 in advance, 15 day of the show.
- 6:32Speaker 7: You can get them at our website. Well, our website
- 6:34Speaker 7: is just our.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Link tree, but that's pedalingevil.com. That's pedaling without the G, evil.com.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Okay.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Kevin's slogan is Pedaling Evil since 1987, so we thought.
- 6:44Speaker 7: That'd be a great name for the film.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Okay.
- 6:48Speaker 7: And that's the best way to get it.
- 6:49Speaker 3: We have a trailer up there that we, you know,
- 6:50Speaker 3: it's kind.
- 6:51Speaker 7: Of a proof of concept that people want.
- 6:52Speaker 3: To check it out.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Okay.
- 6:54Speaker 7: And, yeah, anybody who comes, we'd really appreciate it.
- 6:57Speaker 1: All right.
- 6:58Speaker 4: All right.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Sounds great. I have a... I felt a little uncomfortable
- 7:02Speaker 1: with the name of a band, Hi-Fi Murders. That's just
- 7:08Speaker 1: a comment in passing. We're being edgy, man. It shows
- 7:12Speaker 1: that they're local. It made me kind of wince.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Yeah, they're local. They're a punk band, so I think
- 7:16Speaker 3: that's probably a little provocative a little bit.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Well, it worked on me. It made me wince a
- 7:22Speaker 1: little bit. All right, Alan. Thank you. Thanks, Alan. See you.
- 7:25Speaker 7: All right. Hello?
- 7:26Speaker 5: Yeah, what?
- 7:27Speaker 1: Let's go to Mandy.
- 7:29Speaker 7: Hello?
- 7:29Speaker 1: Yeah, what?
- 7:30Speaker 6: Good morning.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Hi, Mandy. What's up?
- 7:34Speaker 11: Well, I wanted to tell you about a fun show
- 7:36Speaker 11: that I went to see. I saw it in San Francisco,
- 7:40Speaker 11: and I saw it in Phoenix. And it was touring,
- 7:43Speaker 11: but they're a little production. It's called Marvelous, the show.
- 7:47Speaker 10: Okay.
- 7:48Speaker 11: And to get more money, they're going to be renting
- 7:51Speaker 11: it for like three days. So you can go to
- 7:53Speaker 11: their website and figure out how to rent it.
- 7:55Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 7:55Speaker 11: I'm not affiliated with them.
- 7:56Speaker 3: It was just hilarious.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Well, what is it? It's a spoof.
- 7:59Speaker 11: It's a spoof on the Marvel Universe, but with some
- 8:04Speaker 11: burlesque in there. Like it has the Asvengers.
- 8:10Speaker 1: The Asvengers, okay.
- 8:11Speaker 7: Yes.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Okay.
- 8:14Speaker 11: And Pony Stark and things like that. And it was just,
- 8:19Speaker 11: if you like to laugh, it was pretty hilarious. It
- 8:22Speaker 11: was very not suitable for work or kids.
- 8:25Speaker 1: It's not.
- 8:27Speaker 11: We're not bringing your kids to this one.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Okay. So if you go to Marvelous the Show or
- 8:31Speaker 1: Google that, you'll find it.
- 8:32Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 8:34Speaker 10: Okay.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:34Speaker 10: All right.
- 8:35Speaker 11: It was hilarious.
- 8:36Speaker 10: It was fun.
- 8:36Speaker 6: All right.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Thank you. Thanks for letting us know. Thanks. Good information.
- 8:39Speaker 7: Thank you.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Let's go to Miriam.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Hello.
- 8:42Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 8:43Speaker 1: What? Miriam, how are you?
- 8:47Speaker 4: I'm good.
- 8:48Speaker 7: Good.
- 8:48Speaker 1: What's up? I was just calling to say hi. Why? Yes.
- 8:56Speaker 8: Hello.
- 8:57Speaker 2: I'm just driving my daughter to school.
- 9:02Speaker 8: What's your daughter's name?
- 9:05Speaker 11: Nadia.
- 9:06Speaker 8: Nadia, you missed the bus?
- 9:09Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 9:10Speaker 1: How come you missed the bus?
- 9:13Speaker 2: I couldn't find my shoes.
- 9:14Speaker 3: That happens.
- 9:15Speaker 1: That happens to me almost every morning. As a matter
- 9:18Speaker 1: of fact, yesterday I came to work with only one
- 9:20Speaker 1: shoe on. Nadia, what grade are you in? Sixth grade?
- 9:28Speaker 1: A sixth grader ought to know where her shoes are.
- 9:31Speaker 1: I mean, come on. Yeah.
- 9:34Speaker 4: When you couldn't find them and you said, Mom, I
- 9:37Speaker 4: can't find my shoes, did she say, Well, where was
- 9:39Speaker 4: the last place you had them?
- 9:44Speaker 2: They were in the living room for some reason.
- 9:46Speaker 8: Yeah, if we always take our shoes off and leave
- 9:48Speaker 8: them in the same place, you will always be able
- 9:51Speaker 8: to find them.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Nadia, Nadia, you just said, They were in the living
- 9:56Speaker 1: room for some reason. The reason was you left them.
- 10:00Speaker 1: them in the living room.
- 10:02Speaker 4: No, Bill, there were elves, and they came in in
- 10:05Speaker 4: the middle of the night and took them and put
- 10:07Speaker 4: them in the living room.
- 10:09Speaker 1: The dog did it.
- 10:10Speaker 2: The dog did it.
- 10:13Speaker 4: They were playing tricks on us.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Cats. Yeah, cats don't move shoes. They don't do that. Listen,
- 10:19Speaker 1: my cat's a shoe sniffer. Hey, Nadia, have a good
- 10:22Speaker 1: day at school. Be careful, okay? See you. See you later.
- 10:25Speaker 1: All right, let's go to Jason. Jason.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Hello?
- 10:30Speaker 10: Yeah, what?
- 10:31Speaker 1: Hi, Jason.
- 10:33Speaker 11: Hello.
- 10:34Speaker 1: What's up?
- 10:35Speaker 9: So I just have a question that's been bothering me.
- 10:37Speaker 9: Not really bothering me, just curiosity.
- 10:40Speaker 6: The next time Frank.
- 10:41Speaker 9: appears in the studio, could you ask him if he
- 10:44Speaker 9: ever hangs out with Death from Wild Stallions?
- 10:47Speaker 1: If he ever what?
- 10:48Speaker 8: Death from Wild Stallions.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Oh, the character from the Bill and Ted movies.
- 10:54Speaker 9: Oh. I mean, he's a celebrity guy, so I figured
- 10:57Speaker 9: he hangs out with other celebrities, and Death is a celebrity,
- 10:59Speaker 9: I imagine.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Well, he's one of the other Reapers.
- 11:02Speaker 8: There are many Reapers.
- 11:03Speaker 1: There are many Reapers.
- 11:04Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 11:05Speaker 1: And he's one of them. All right. We'll ask him, though.
- 11:09Speaker 1: All right.
- 11:09Speaker 9: Okay.
- 11:09Speaker 1: All right. Thank you. Thanks. Let's go to Sean.
- 11:13Speaker 8: Hello?
- 11:13Speaker 9: Yeah, what?
- 11:16Speaker 6: What's up, Radio From Hell?
- 11:18Speaker 1: We are asking you. Sean Capp. Sean Capp?
- 11:20Speaker 6: Well, I figured, yeah, Sean Capp, the dry toast comedian guy.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Yep.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Okay.
- 11:27Speaker 6: I figure I'd call. I got a gig. It's on Halloween.
- 11:31Speaker 6: I'm going to open a show for the Dirt Nappers
- 11:34Speaker 6: and Dude Cougar up at Kamikaze's in Ogden.
- 11:39Speaker 8: Okay.
- 11:41Speaker 1: On Halloween, that's a big show.
- 11:42Speaker 6: On Halloween, that's my birthday. Wow. And if anybody comes
- 11:47Speaker 6: up and says they heard it on the radio, I'll
- 11:49Speaker 6: buy them a beer or two. Wow.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Wait a minute. People will forget. It's a month from now.
- 11:54Speaker 1: I know.
- 11:55Speaker 3: What?
- 11:56Speaker 1: I know. No, if a free beer is on the line, people,
- 12:00Speaker 1: especially Ogdenites, will remember. Ogdenites, yes.
- 12:02Speaker 8: Oh, and Halloween's on a Saturday this year.
- 12:05Speaker 7: I know.
- 12:06Speaker 1: I think you maybe should take that back because a
- 12:10Speaker 1: lot of people are listening, and you could have 100
- 12:13Speaker 1: people saying, buy me a beer. You know what?
- 12:17Speaker 6: If I can get 100 people there, I'll buy.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Them all a beer.
- 12:20Speaker 8: Say the first 100 people who come up and say that.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Wow, wow, wow. Comic-Con.
- 12:24Speaker 10: Yeah, okay.
- 12:25Speaker 1: All right, Sean.
- 12:26Speaker 7: Thanks, Sean.
- 12:26Speaker 6: Let's party.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Okay. Good luck. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
- 12:30Speaker 6: Have a good one.
- 12:31Speaker 1: All right, bye-bye. Let's go to David.
- 12:33Speaker 6: Hello?
- 12:34Speaker 1: Yeah, what? Hello, David.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Hello.
- 12:38Speaker 5: How are you guys doing?
- 12:39Speaker 7: Good.
- 12:39Speaker 1: But we asked you first. What's up?
- 12:43Speaker 12: I just wanted to kind of give a little promo
- 12:46Speaker 12: shout out for my wife's bookstore in Springville.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Okay.
- 12:51Speaker 12: It's an old independent bookstore. It's called the Pumpkin Cottage.
- 12:55Speaker 12: We've been open for two years. In our current location,
- 13:00Speaker 12: just moved into there about two and a half months ago.
- 13:03Speaker 12: We used to be in a Tiny little space above
- 13:06Speaker 12: a pizza place on Main Street. We are now in
- 13:10Speaker 12: a much larger space next door to the historic Rivoli
- 13:12Speaker 12: Theater on Springville Main Street.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 13:15Speaker 12: And wanted to let everybody know, next week is Band
- 13:21Speaker 12: of Books Week. Most independent bookstores participate or feature books
- 13:26Speaker 12: that are frequently banned or challenged from, you know, libraries, schools,
- 13:30Speaker 12: et cetera.
- 13:32Speaker 1: And what's... Say the name of the bookstore again.
- 13:36Speaker 12: It's The Pumpkin Cottage. So we have ThePumpkinCottage.com. You can
- 13:40Speaker 12: find us there. We've also got The Pumpkin Cottage on Instagram.
- 13:44Speaker 12: It's a great place to follow us. We do book clubs,
- 13:47Speaker 12: author events, all sorts of other, you know, craft nights.
- 13:51Speaker 12: Monthly Pajama Reading Night is really popular.
- 13:53Speaker 8: Pajama Reading Night?
- 13:55Speaker 1: What kind of pajamas do you read? Brian.
- 14:01Speaker 8: I'm going to go follow you on Instagram now because
- 14:04Speaker 8: I am a huge fan of independent bookstores.
- 14:08Speaker 1: There we go. Just follow. So you've been in business
- 14:10Speaker 1: two years. It must be going okay, huh?
- 14:13Speaker 6: It's doing all right.
- 14:14Speaker 12: We started out doing pop-ups just at local farmer's markets
- 14:19Speaker 12: and things. Had an opportunity for a very funny little
- 14:23Speaker 12: space that required you go around the corner from the
- 14:25Speaker 12: pizza place, through a weird door, upstairs, up some more stairs,
- 14:28Speaker 12: down the hall, and then you could find us. That
- 14:33Speaker 12: worked okay, but then we were able to move to
- 14:35Speaker 12: a much better, more visible location, ground floor, historic Springville
- 14:40Speaker 12: Main Street. We have a Beautiful mural on one wall
- 14:43Speaker 12: done by a local artist.
- 14:44Speaker 1: What's your wife's name? Megan. Okay. Good luck.
- 14:48Speaker 4: Thank you, guys.
- 14:49Speaker 1: And thanks for making us aware of that. We'll see
- 14:52Speaker 1: you later. Good luck. Thank you so much. All right.
- 14:55Speaker 1: If I ever need a book about pumpkins, I will.
