- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome back to the show, Sarah.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you so much for having me.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's so funny because, you know, I invited you and you're like, I was at the reflecting pool, so I first of all, I want to hear about what you've been writing about, but I absolutely want to hear your take because you did a wonderful thread on the reflecting pool, which I think is kind of like, you know, it's kind of really per, it's a perfect illustration of what Trump's done to the country, but I want your take on it.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: So let's just begin the show with the pool.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so I was actually at the pool when you texted me and I was leaving the pool because I saw your I looked down at your comment because I was trying to take
- 1:40[SPEAKER_01]: videos and photos and all of the above and I had my roommate with me and we had a plan.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_01]: Like we talked about things ahead of time.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_01]: I wrote her her phone number on my hand.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_01]: I made sure my driver's license was in my pocket not in my phone wallet.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_01]: I mean and I and I was like, look, if something happens, I will have my phone camera on.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_01]: I will drop my phone with the camera on so that you can then pick it up.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like, we, I was right here, man.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I am a journalist prepper, right?
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: So, um, yeah, so that was what was, what was happening when, whenever you were texting, you know, I was like crap, crap, I need to respond, but, you know, I, you know, I,
- 2:27[SPEAKER_01]: I need to, I need to deal with this, this stuff first, um, yeah.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: So, so the intention, like, I went frankly, um, I wanted to go this weekend because, um, like, many of the, the tourists, I really wanted to get a piece of it because I have sort of this collection of odd Washington D.C. things.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I have a rock from what used to be the old Puerto Rico, the old North Portico of the US capital.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I was trying to get a rock from the East Wing.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like, weird random stuff.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_01]: And this would just fit in with my random, weird stuff perfectly.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: And then I saw, obviously, on Sunday, that they were starting to arrest people and yell at people.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_01]: And so I was like, well, crap, I want to go down there anyway, and so we walked the whole perimeter of it and remarkably slowly like this was not some power DC walking and and I looked at every inch of the perimeter and and you know as far as I could see without the sun in the way and.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_01]: trying to find the giant 350 gash foot gash and trying to find any other sort of breaks in it cracks in it.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: The piece is missing and trying to understand what exactly is going on.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_01]: Why do people?
- 4:03[SPEAKER_01]: Why would he think that there's a gash?
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I just wanted to
- 4:12[SPEAKER_01]: how normal tourists were interacting with it, given the abundance of various officers standing around doing nothing.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: What I found is I can see why people are saying, oh, this is a giant
- 4:39[SPEAKER_01]: taking a picture of it far enough away, it could look like a gash, but the actual, the thing that they're actually looking at is probably an inch or two thick.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: So no one knife is going to make a two inch cut.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: And what it really looks like is it's almost like, you know, if you have a giant piece of chalk and you're on the sidewalk and you're rubbing the chalk just over the top of
- 5:07[SPEAKER_01]: And it doesn't fill in, there's so many crevices in the sidewalk concrete that it's not covering all of it.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_01]: And so it's kind of like it was rubbed off, like the lining was rubbed off of it.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_01]: Because it's gotten these little patches everywhere.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_01]: And the giant crack thing or the gash thing looks like a hose was laying on top of it and rubbed it off.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: And the reason I think that specifically is then I saw a penny because there was like a quarter and I was like, Oh, crap, that's hard not to stick my hand in and grab right.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: Penny, not so much quarter.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: But I was like, dude, a quarter, I'll jump in there for a quarter.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_01]: I won't for a penny, but the penny, what was interesting about it when I zoomed in with my phone on the penny is it was slightly, it was like there was a circle where the penny had been that was rubbed off.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: And the penny was slightly moved down from where that circle was.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: So it was still on that circle, but it had like this half moon friendship that looked like it had been rubbed off.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_01]: And there was this kind of bluish thing sort of around, the penny that was slightly raised.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's why I saw it, okay.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: So if a penny was thrown in and it's rubbing off that thing, then I'm wondering if when they were trying to scrub it,
- 6:41[SPEAKER_01]: For the algae stuff, if they're giant hoses, those cute hoses, we also have pictures and wondering if those hoses in there also then started rubbing it off.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: Because the major thing with how they're trying to clean the algae now is they're no longer scrubbing it and they don't have those guys in the pool like walking around and scraping it.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's the bubbler thing that they brought in.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: And so my theory is, my conspiracy theory is, they brought in the people to scrub it.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_01]: The scrubbers were like, crap, this is taking the surface off of this stuff.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: And then they were like, okay, stop, stop, stop.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: Don't do that anymore.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: But by that point, it was like, this is already damaged, like, already screwed.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: And so I think that's that might be what's going on and so I saw the other part of it is I saw a swimming pool expert because of course those people are the ones who are being called to cable news.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_01]: blessed them.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: And so this dude named swimming pool Steve on YouTube who builds pools and spots and to be fair, he builds some bad ass stuff.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_01]: Swing pool Steve said, made this joke or he was like, yeah, I know who who planted the algae.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_01]: in the reflecting pool, and it's all of those birds who flew over it.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_01]: And so this algae problem, like I've been saying this from the start, like you're always going to have an algae problem.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: I said it because it was coming from the Potomac, which is just a cesspool of bacteria and critters and whatnot.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: Even though it's filtered when it comes in, it's still like there's only so much you can get out.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: This is not the zero water filter, right?
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: And so the, I think because it is such a vast open land, open air piece of water, the ducks and the pennies and the, the nibbley bits and the dust and the tree limbs, like all of this stuff is going to contribute to what is in the water.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: And if you're not cleaning it every week, it's going to get algae.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to get a lot of algae.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: So, I mean, that has been my argument about the whole thing from the beginning, but to confirm.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: There is no gash, there is no gash.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: There is a small crack that was forming by the northern edge of it.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: There was a giant boot print.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_01]: that looks like the it was actually embedded in the that epoxy coating that liner thing and there was a huge wad of cocking like it was like somebody spilled it accidentally and it was just like.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_01]: Like, right here's the middle of it, and I also noticed that the bubblers, the oxygenating, whatever cleaners that they have out there, which I've read about that tech, if you haven't, it's super fascinating, and it seems like a brilliant piece of technology.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: I think their biggest problem is that they don't have enough generators to keep it going, and so a bunch of the hoses are off.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: like they have two little auto bubbler things that are working when they have like six hoses in the whole thing.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so that is just adding more problems and yeah, I got it.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, that's not fun.
- 10:18[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the the guy, the cops just standing around doing nothing.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: One of them I took a picture of was US US Marshall fugitive task force.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, please, for the love of God, tell me somebody is in the task force office right now and doing your job because the fact that you're here just makes me not have faith in the security of our country.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it really is a metaphor.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the reflecting pool is a metaphor for what Trump has done.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: Because you know, there's the whole, I guess it's Rick Wilson, who said everything Trump touches dice.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, he pretty much killed democracy.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it may, it can come back at least he killed the American democracy that we knew up until he came into the scene.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, he's just a big fat mess, right?
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: everything.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's unbelievable.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: Look what he's done to the White House alone with his stupid gold leaf shit, and then he's got that UFC fight, the way it looked prior to the fight, the way it looked after the fight, what he did to the Rose Garden.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's just completely destroyed everything.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: He is unbelievable.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: I've said that before, and it just seems like unbelievable
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: to describe the damage that I mean I'm grateful actually that so much of this damage is cosmetic and it is I mean because obviously there is stuff that's affecting people's lives and livelihoods and their health and all of that and it's a lot but I mean that I'm grateful that a lot of this shit that he's putting his attention on like I said is is names on buildings or stuff that we
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: that's not going to hurt anyone.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: It might cost money, but it's not going to hurt anyone.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just, I don't know, I'm having such a hard time dealing with all of this because when I first entered this political arena back in 2012, kind of 2010, but let's just go with 2012.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: That's when I started blogging and sharing my opinions and everything.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_00]: It was still a
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: It was, you know, my entrance was pretty much feminism and women's issues, and then this happened, and it's like, I don't even know how to, I mean, I'm not a loss.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just upsetting because you see, I mean, I want to kind of pull this into another.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: And then I want to ask you about what you've been writing about, but I want to kind of pull this into one of the topics I wanted to discuss, which is the infighting in the Democratic Party.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_00]: And so I really am not going to name names on I'm not going to get detailed, but I did post this on my Facebook page the other day saying, you know, I I see the Democratic Party basically as the big tended supposed to be so there's room for everybody.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: the ones that are so close to the to the republic and so that it's the horseshoe theory.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just talking about people who are super super progressive, but then there's a group within that group that's very toxic and I don't want to have anything to do with them and I also don't want to be judged by them.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_00]: And I know as a reporter you have your own take on things and
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: where you stand, but I'm bringing it up to you so you can talk about it as a reporter.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_00]: So you don't necessarily have to share your personal opinion on where you stand, but it's like as far as I'm concerned, you know, I do consider myself to be a democratic socialist, but in a way that Elizabeth Warren is.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_00]: I'm all about Elizabeth Warren and how she is a democrat,
- 14:17[SPEAKER_00]: social programs, whether it's a public library, public schools, you know, and health insurance that we can afford or Medicare for all, both whatever.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_00]: All the, all the matriarchal legislation and, and I just want to say this too, because people are getting hung up on the word Democratic Socialist and there are people in the Democratic Party who are super angry at people who are labeling themselves as a Democratic Socialist and, and they're going on whatever definition,
- 14:47[SPEAKER_00]: Why can't I consider myself a democratic socialist and I know that there are some specific definitions out there there's a specific definition of matriarchy and that is women rule and I am totally into matriarchy, but I'm not into just women ruling I don't think we should have only one sex ruling first of all that's never going to happen and it's never going to happen it happened with the patriarchy, but I don't think we're going to switch it and then get all women that's just unrealistic.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_00]: But what is realistic in matriarchal legislation is whether it's put up by a man or a woman is that it takes care of people.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_00]: And that's to me, that's what I see.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_00]: And I look at somebody like Obama, who some might describe as a centrist.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, depending on who you are.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_00]: He's really super progressive or he's a centrist or whatever.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_00]: But he came up with the ACA.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_00]: And to me, that's matriarchal.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_00]: That's democratic socialism.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_00]: That is a way for everybody to get covered.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_00]: put in the what is a guy can never remember the name of it, but it's just the Medicare for all options, the option and the public option.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_00]: And then of course, Roman Manuel and other Democrats, Democrats talked him out of it.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_00]: And so he didn't do it.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_00]: But the way I looked at that was, well, it is a stepping stone, right?
- 16:00[SPEAKER_00]: We got this past AOC said it before because AOC said, you
- 16:03[SPEAKER_00]: I also said, shoot for the moon.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_00]: You're probably not going to get the moon, but you just keep incrementally going up incrementally.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_00]: That's what we have a huge population.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_00]: We have a huge country.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_00]: And people who think it's just going to happen tomorrow are fucking stupid.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_00]: And they don't understand how politics works.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_00]: And it's got to be incremental.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_00]: And so I look at somebody like AOC, she's progressive, and she understands that, you know, hey, I'm going to throw my biggest thing out there
- 16:33[SPEAKER_00]: So Obama, that's what he did.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_00]: He was like, hey, I got this great idea and I'm going to take it from Mitt Romney, you know, and I'm going to put it into action and I'm going to see how much I can get in this bill and whatever is not in this bill.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_00]: I guess the plan, you know, at the time.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_00]: was we'll just incrementally build on it, but then the Republicans just completely took over.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, I'm seeing, I know I'm on a rant, but it's upsetting to me because, like I said, I went through this with an I'm not gonna rehash all of the 2016, but went through it in 2016 with Hillary and Bernie and all the ink, I know I wasn't in the Hillary and Obama hate crowds.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't participating at that point.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_00]: But it's like I feel like we've got fascists like Steven Miller and Donald Trump and pedophiles and Epstein class and people like that who are making and and all these fucking oligarchs who are so completely far removed
- 17:35[SPEAKER_00]: from what any normal person's life is like.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_00]: And they are the ones who want to control us.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_00]: And while we're arguing with each other, like I get it, there's some progressive people that I think are fucking assholes, but I'm not gonna label all the progressives just because a few people are fucking assholes.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_00]: And so I don't know, I just, it's like,
- 17:52[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_00]: I can't take you anymore.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_00]: I can't take this infighting.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_00]: I thought we were supposed to be a big tent party, which means that we have to, I accept the centrist, because you know what a centrist is, it's not going to get elected in New York, but Montgomery, Montgomery, I can never say is, Mom, Donnie, we'll never get elected in Iowa.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_00]: So let's just go with who's going to get elected in their proper state.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I'm done.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_00]: What are you saying about this?
- 18:19[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I can definitely talk about where I stand on this and that I find everybody really annoying.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't matter what party you're in or what your beliefs are.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody just knows that.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_01]: everybody just annoys me.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_01]: Don't get me started on leaf blower.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_01]: It's like I can't even put the leaf blower on Sunday morning at 7 a.m.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, but that should be real.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: Whenever I saw this outbreak of, you know, oh my god, socialism, DSA, I gotta gotta.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_01]: I was in that same sort of vein of, um,
- 19:00[SPEAKER_01]: for the love of God shut up, because there were two kind of groups of people, there were the ones who were saying, you know, oh my God, it's taking over the world, it's taking over the country, it's taking over the Democratic Party, and it's like, oh yeah, it's taking over the country on Long Island, on the island of Manhattan.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_01]: And so I have a friend
- 19:28[SPEAKER_01]: DSA, DSA, Indiana, and I'm always just like, dude, this is not happening outside of New York.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_01]: There are occasionally, there are like a few other candidates who, you know, like the mayoral race here in DC in the LA mayoral race.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_01]: These are a lot of these are long shot candidates.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_01]: who aren't necessarily being taken seriously, but I think are in the race to provide ideas and to push people toward more progressive policies.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_01]: And so like, I don't, it's just, it's to me, it's still, it's not a problem and it's,
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: becoming a conversation when voters still can't afford gas and groceries.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like normal people are not talking about, oh my god, socialism, oh my god, DS.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: They're just not.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, I just spent the last month in Oklahoma helping my parents move and then helping my best friend move and like all of the above.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_01]: So the
- 20:40[SPEAKER_01]: My exposure to the fam and to the red necks and my farmer buddies are, it is just nonstop, oh my god gas, oh my god groceries.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_00]: Interesting.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and there's always going to be the, you know, the people who see themselves as the elites arguing about all of this, which I do not consider myself the elite.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_00]: However, I did see interestingly enough, I saw this woman,
- 21:07[SPEAKER_00]: You know how you scroll.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_00]: I can't fuck.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know our name.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know anything.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_00]: I just scrolled in I saw right.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_00]: I saw a video.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_00]: So this woman was talking about the fact and I believe a pretty hard court Democrat.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to say this person is a centrist, but you know, full on Democrat does not identify as a Democratic socialist.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_00]: Post, he posted this video and it was this woman saying, look everybody, if you're screaming because you're all upset about the DSA, the Democratic Socialists of America taking over the country, she's like first of all, they're not like you just pointed out, but she said, they're organized.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_00]: And unfortunately democratic voters, whether it's, I don't know who's to blame, whether it's just the voters themselves or the party for maybe not doing enough to get people out in a primaries, but the democratic socialists were organized, right?
- 21:59[SPEAKER_00]: They looked at where the democratic party has failed.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_00]: And in one case, it's voting in the primaries.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_00]: And so they said, OK, we've got to step up our game.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_00]: And so this person was saying, if you don't like it, then fucking vote, go vote.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_00]: And so I mean, I'm right there because it's like, I don't care who wins the primary.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's, I don't mean that literally, because like, for instance, I voted for somebody in my Democratic primary who didn't win, right?
- 22:31[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like, well, I'm not going to say the name because I just don't want to bash, but there's somebody that the person who won, I don't like this person, but I'm going to vote for them because of course I am.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_00]: They've got to D after their name and they're not a fascist and I don't love their voting record.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_00]: However, I will still vote for them.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_00]: But the whole thing here is,
- 22:55[SPEAKER_00]: Our side has a real fucking problem with organization.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's like the herding cats theory.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, if we can't get our asses out to go vote,
- 23:05[SPEAKER_00]: Then we can't be complaining when people show up and do the work and get results.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_00]: So show up and do the work because it's the organization that wins elections.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_00]: It's people who are paying attention and not taking things for granted.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm kind of with you on the whole.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody's fucking on my last nerve right now.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_00]: I've been in a really shitty mood for the past couple of weeks.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_00]: I'm trying to, just for personal reasons and stuff, but I'm trying to keep it together for my podcast or whatever.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_00]: But it's like, I'm in a bad mood.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm in a bad mood when I see people acting like assholes on social media.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_00]: And, and, and, and, and, and, and, and,
- 23:42[SPEAKER_00]: Like they make general posts where they're not talking to one person specifically, it's just a general post on their page and they're like if you think the democratic socialist or the same as a democrat you're a full and it's like well, maybe they are different, but you know what I'm going to go back to what happened in the boomer generation all the young people looked around.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_00]: And they said, we don't like this, and we're going to change it.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_00]: And they did.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_00]: Unfortunately, they kind of went in the other direction, and they went to Maga, but so did a lot of John X or so.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what the fuck is wrong with people.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_00]: But still, there was this group of young people who rose up and said, we're going to change things.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_00]: And they did.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_00]: So perhaps this is a moment that is like a piece of history that will repeat itself because of course you know history always repeats itself and maybe young people are saying look we want to be able to afford homes we want to be able to you know afford groceries and gas and all that shit and so we're just going to vote.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_00]: the way we think we should and they're organizing.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, you can't really get mad at people who are doing the job in a democracy.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_00]: Whether you like them or not, they're doing what a democracy is supposed to be about.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_00]: So if they win, when they're doing that, oh well,
- 24:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it reminds me of a and the old Will Rogers quote where he said I'm not a member of an organized party.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a Democrat right and that was what 100 years ago.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_01]: So if there is one thing that is consistent with the Democratic Party, it's its lack of organization.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_01]: And, and I think that that is indignant of a, of a large tent, and, you know, a small group of people who are trying to run things.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_01]: And.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_01]: And it's, it is difficult because you're like, you know, the people who are voting in Oklahoma who are Democrats would be Republicans in Manhattan.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: And so it is that is difficult to kind of put under a big umbrella and to try and explain because they always say if you're explaining something, you're losing.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_01]: So it's hard to explain to a random, I don't know anything, voter, you know why they're
- 26:05[SPEAKER_01]: either they're hearing all this stuff about socialism on Fox News and what's actually going on.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_01]: So so it is frustrating and I think
- 26:16[SPEAKER_01]: The biggest problem I think is happening that is just exacerbating this is that we don't a lot of states don't have open primaries.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_01]: They don't, they don't let independence vote in for whichever primary they want to vote in.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: And the the results of that is that you're limiting your primaries to only two parties in a two party state when the fastest growing
- 26:42[SPEAKER_01]: party in the country is declined to state or independent.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_01]: So, I mean, that is a big thing that I think if people want to change the way the parties work and the party system, that's your first step.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you can't register as an independent and think that you, all of the sudden, have the opportunity to change who is being elected in these primaries.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_00]: It just makes you want it like retire.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, again, this goes back to what I said from the very beginning is everybody's annoying.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, they are.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_00]: So now I want to bring it over to the idea that Trump has said he's not going to sign this extremely popular bipartisan housing bill, which would stop like the Jared Kushner's from coming and buying up a lot of the properties and raising housing prices.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_00]: This is a very popular
- 27:48[SPEAKER_00]: until the save act is passed, which Senate ain't gonna do.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_00]: But here's something kind of interesting.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_00]: So Congress sends the bill to Trump, to the president, and he has 10 days to sign it.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_00]: And if he doesn't sign it within 10 days, it goes into law.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_00]: So there's one caveat is if they are on, let me see where if they're on recess,
- 28:14[SPEAKER_00]: Now, they're going to be on recess in 10 days.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_00]: So that means it would die.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_00]: The bill would die.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_00]: I think that that's maybe what's happening.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think that Donald Trump under somebody explained to Donald Trump that that is the root here to kill that bill.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_00]: However, I do think that bill can be reintroduced.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_00]: So I just, you know, I see everybody panicking over this and I don't necessarily think it's as bad as it sounds because I do not believe the save act, they're not gonna go for it.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_00]: Republicans know that is just not a good idea.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_00]: And on top of it, the save act doesn't only affect women, that's a big fucking huge deal, but every time you move,
- 28:59[SPEAKER_00]: you got to go re-register to vote and you're going to bring all your documentation.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_00]: And especially if you're a woman and you don't have the city, you know, if you take, if you're married and you took on your husband's name, then you have to have your birth certificate, all that shit.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_00]: And how many people
- 29:18[SPEAKER_00]: have sitting around at, you know, at the ready, their birth certificate, their, you know, whatever driver's license is acceptable because I know like, for instance, I live in Maryland and I just got a new driver's license, so I know that they would accept it, but I don't I also.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_00]: That's not going to happen to me with the save act because I never got married, so my name never changed.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_00]: But it's like, I think that's what they're trying to do.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're just trying, and you know, frankly, I don't even understand why they would do this.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_00]: I guess, is he just angry?
- 29:49[SPEAKER_00]: Is Donald Trump just angry?
- 29:51[SPEAKER_00]: Because this is so popular with Republicans.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_00]: And he's killing it.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_00]: And of course Democrats can run on this and let everyone know, but I think that's, you know, I think I think that's the deal is that he's trying to kill this housing bill and and he's trying to use the save act to say, you know, I'm, you know, do this or you don't get what you want, but they can bring it back.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_00]: They can just fucking bring it back.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you have any thoughts on this.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_00]: I just had to throw that out there.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and this is an extremely bar part of the bill.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_01]: Like everything in this is like the Republican side gets its whole incentivizing home builders, which are traditionally Republican donors and Democrats are loving the helping poor people with financing part.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like all of this bill is good.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_01]: And like you said, the developer piece of it is so important because
- 30:50[SPEAKER_01]: You know, when you've got a city that is being we're affordable housing, you're like going up against a major corporation that's trying to buy a super cheap house so that they can make money by renting it, you know, it's, it's, it's forcing out little guys who just went to buy it house and and so this is become this huge issue that both parties, you know, have worked on for months now and I don't know that Donald Trump's.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: are really thinking about this in a rational way.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's just reacting.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_01]: Like I see, he's in a position right now where he's just flailing, because he can't control the reflecting pool stuff.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_01]: He can't control,
- 31:36[SPEAKER_01]: You know, they're basically trying to build the East Wing as fast as they possibly can because the courts are about to shut it down and they know that they're about shut it down like people people are actually working around the clock.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_01]: They're working at night because he is trying to build this thing so fast because he knows it's going to get shut down.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_01]: He's got a tarp hanging over.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_01]: Kennedy Center where they took his name off and had to go to court so that they could tell the administration for the love of God take the tarp down.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_01]: You have to tell the end of the month.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I mean, this is it's so bad.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_01]: He's and I think he understands the badness.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I do think he does have a grasp of it.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_01]: because and it's funny because he's he's by by talking about the same act he's basically admitting I can't win my party can't win because nobody wants to go all at the same time saying all of these polls are lies I am the most popular president ever and it's like do you not see how these things are not the same.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: But so it's frustrating to see stuff like this.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_01]: But I wonder, like one of the things I saw this morning is is four Republicans with a Drew there, their vote rebuking his Iran war thing.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_01]: And he went to to yell at them yesterday on the in the capital and that's whenever they pulled their names off of it.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_01]: And so part of me kind of wonders is this part of the deal.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_01]: Did they basically just make a deal saying.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_01]: We we're going to figure out a way to make sure this housing measure moves forward and becomes law without Trump signing it.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_01]: But we're going to agree to pull our names off this thing.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: Basically humiliates you.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if that's the deal.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if there's another deal of foot.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's the same accident we're going to happen.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's, and even if they did pass it, it would end up in litigation because it's automatically in conflict with the U.S. Constitution, which mandates that states be the ones that run elections.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so it's just kind of, it's, it's just never ever ever going to happen.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_01]: And this idea, like, like, Mike Lee likes to run around and be like, oh, we need to give her to the filibuster.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_01]: We need to give her the filibuster.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_01]: And jump through yesterday was like, bro, never going to happen.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's not stop trying to get.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_01]: He actually said, this is all, Mike Lee clickbait.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_01]: Well, literally is calling it clickbait because he's like, never going to happen.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_01]: Um,
- 34:19[SPEAKER_01]: And so he's flailing.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_01]: Trump is flailing trying to find something he can win.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_01]: Something because he's just that desperate to have a win.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_01]: And it's, I don't think it's going to happen.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he's going to find a win.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_00]: He's not going to.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what I think this is all about.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_00]: This is some big flex, what he thinks is a flex on his part.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_00]: But like I said, I mean, if this, if this bill does die, they can just reintroduce it.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_00]: And then, you know, I know that they can, if he was going to veto something, I don't know that they would go against them.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_00]: But I know that the Congress can get that there's a path to going against a presidential veto that I can't explain to you.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if the Republicans would have enough guts to do it, but I think everybody's pretty clear that Donald Trump, I mean, look, Tucker Carlson and Marjorie Taylor Green have left the Republican Party now, which I think is hilarious.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's hilarious.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_00]: The only thing that I don't think is hilarious is anyone who gives them credit.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_00]: because they don't deserve credit.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_00]: They are simply rebranded.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_00]: They're rats jumping ship rebranding themselves to become a different kind of maga later on.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_00]: That's all.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not like they're waking up and they're seeing the truth.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_00]: They always knew the truth.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_00]: They just, they just lick their finger, held their hand up to the wind and said, which way do I go now?
- 35:39[SPEAKER_00]: And that's where they are.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know what I forgot to ask you.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_00]: What have you been writing about?
- 35:44[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, other than reflecting pool.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_01]: So the main thing that I, I just finished writing about was there was a fight between Sonia So to my or and Samuel lead of this morning.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's not really like a fight like they went to blows or anything like that, but there was a wish they didn't see it locked in my house.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_01]: They would get so much press if they just went after each other, like, you know, even water guns, right?
- 36:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like, they just did that.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_01]: It gets so much more press.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_01]: But it was an interesting moment where Alito was was the one who was reading all the decisions.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_01]: this morning.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_01]: And at one point, so one of the the rulings that they talked about was the temporary protective status and there was a whole discussion about what constitutes arriving in the United States.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like does that mean that they've crossed the border?
- 36:38[SPEAKER_01]: Are they people who have that are already here or are they a battle?
- 36:43[SPEAKER_01]: to cross the border and there was this whole debate because border patrol agents were basically stopping people from stepping over the line saying okay if you're in the country you can declare asylum but if we stop you from being in the country you can't declare asylum.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so that's a big, like, legal nerd battle, and, and, and his, the way that he, he read his decision and talked about it was pretty quick, and, and, and, just as, sort of, as soon as I said to my or steps up and is like, I have a descent.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_01]: And her descent was about three times longer than what his little talk was and her descent basically went through all of these horrible events in the U.S. history where the U.S. screwed up by not letting people.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_01]: in the United States when we should have and talked about the moral imperative of what we should be doing.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_01]: And she specifically mentioned the German boat, the St. Louis, which came across from Nazi Germany in 39 and stopped in Cuba and then came to the United States and it had like 900 people primarily Jewish refugees on board and the US turned it back.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_01]: And it is such a huge disgrace of American history from the Holocaust that I think people continue to bring up because it was very clear that the U.S. screwed up.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_01]: in doing it.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_01]: And it was a democratic president, you know, at the same time.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_01]: So this was not, you know, this would totally give Republicans an opportunity to be like, ha ha, you screwed up too.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_01]: But, but, um, so she talked about this and apparently his face,
- 38:32[SPEAKER_01]: He was just seething is what one CNN analyst said and he was and and his when he followed up after her.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_01]: He made some comment like, well, if I knew she was going to say that I would have prepared, you know, something else or or addressed it's like, yeah, but you would and and and she said that his voice was dripping with a stain.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, oh, dang, like, shot fired, right?
- 39:04[SPEAKER_01]: And she said, the analyst was saying, you know, I bet this was one of those things where, you know, there are about to come out and read their, their rulings and everything.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_01]: And she said, hey, Sam, do you mind if I, if I read something?
- 39:15[SPEAKER_01]: And he's like, yeah, sure, of course.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_01]: You can read your, your descent.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_01]: And then she steps up and says it.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_01]: And he's like, how dare you, yeah.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like, clutch my pills.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_00]: Right, right, right.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_01]: So that was one of those moments where I think it's striking in that, you know, it gives me, I, I really love Katanji Branch.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_01]: Axon is my favorite justice, but I do love seeing, you know, sort of my or is it is the scene, one of the senior justices on the left.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_01]: And, and so I love it whenever she kind of gets involved because you expect it from Jackson, like Jackson,
- 39:55[SPEAKER_01]: Effing smart and she will insult them in a ways that they don't know they're being insulted.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's so good.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_01]: She is so good.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_01]: She gives me life, but so to my son, my or well, um, we'll, we'll like side in there and and every once in a while, we'll just like drop a bombs.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_00]: And you're like, yes, thank you.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_00]: Well done.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_00]: So, got to love it, got to love it.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_00]: And what other things have you been focusing on anything else?
- 40:26[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I can tell you, I have learned more about algae and in the last time.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_01]: So true story.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, there's a storm chaser in Colorado who is like an amateur storm chaser is not a meteorologist and he also does video game designing on the side and he made this comment on blue sky where he basically said,
- 40:50[SPEAKER_01]: It was me I took the algae and put it in the epoxy to sabotage it and so that it would grow algae whenever they installed it and the FBI showed up at his house and oh my god.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_01]: And when I wrote about that, the only thing that I could think is, do you not know science?
- 41:16[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I just spent the last week, right, learning that algae, what the conditions are for algae to grow.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_01]: You, you oxygen, obviously, the little oxygen bubblers, they're killing the algae because algae doesn't like oxygen.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_01]: It likes, you know, everything else, hydrogen carbon.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_01]: So fertilizer, love it, they're gonna love it.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_01]: you know, the bird crap that's why algae grows because there's so much bird crap which is feeding the algae.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_01]: So one, the idea that algae is able to grow in the hostile chemical environment of an epoxy, when they had drained the whole thing, I mean that alone, I was like really guys, really.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_01]: But the other piece of it is
- 42:02[SPEAKER_01]: this administration has cut out all of these scientists.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_01]: And then they went through and just started slashing FBI agents and FBI directors and established agents and researchers who had been in the department forever.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_01]: And so the combination of the destruction
- 42:23[SPEAKER_01]: government under Trump's watch, kind of feeds into this narrative, where it's like the dot, yeah, this is some dude who got a visit from the FBI, but the reason he got the visit from the FBI is because y'all are too dumb to Google.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_01]: We're hiring people who were too dumb to Google, and you filed, fired all your scientists who could say, oh, by the way, you're going to waste
- 42:53[SPEAKER_00]: So that happened.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, we live in idiocracy.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's frustrating, because again, this all goes back to the metaphor of the reflecting pool where every single thing he touched his eyes.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's so for algae, obviously, which is growing in abundance.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_01]: But it's he's over promising under delivering it's costing more money.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's taking more time and he screws it up.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_01]: And that is indicative of the Iran war.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's indicative of the promise to deliver cheaper groceries, cheaper gifts, all the tariff shifts.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's like literally everything he has done is over promising under deliver and it costs twice as much to deliver you nothing that works in the end.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, I mean, I have this weird theory.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_00]: I don't, like, I don't believe in any destined outcome, right?
- 43:53[SPEAKER_00]: We're, we're, we're improving our lives.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_00]: Everything is an improv and it's all based on the decisions that we make every day.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_00]: So that said, you know, there's,
- 44:04[SPEAKER_00]: I was thinking about how this could have gone.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_00]: Let's just say, Kamala Harris, I might have said this to you before, but this is going to, I want to kind of segue this into the last thing we're going to talk about.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_00]: But if Kamala Harris had won, I think what would have happened, and obviously we'll never know.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_00]: But I think what would have happened, it wouldn't have been a good thing.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_00]: Because first of all, look how,
- 44:31[SPEAKER_00]: the Republicans reacted after Obama.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_00]: But regardless, forget all of that.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_00]: Since Obama, the press has, the legacy press has gone downhill.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_00]: I don't, I don't mean all press.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_00]: You're part of the press.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that's on it.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, but there's the legacy corporate media that is not necessarily doing a good service for this country.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's not behaving the way I think it was originally supposed to be because it's not entertainment.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_00]: And unfortunately, legacy media is run by oligarchs and they're all about, you know, entertainment.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, I think that if Kamala would have been elected, I don't know, I doubt she would have gotten, you know, Congress.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_00]: Senate or the House or anything like that.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe she would have had one, but she wouldn't have been able to get anything passed.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_00]: And then the press would have said, look, she's incompetent.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_00]: She's not good.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_00]: She doesn't know what she's doing.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_00]: Republicans would have ran with it.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_00]: And then Republican people, or I'm sorry, the American people would have basically eaten up that message.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_00]: And then that would have given Republicans enough time for in four years to find a smart fascist.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_00]: um somebody who is a little bit more appealing and I think what they would have done to Kamala Harris now that does not mean I don't believe in Kamala Harris I think she's wonderful I just don't think she would have been given a shot to prove herself it just wouldn't have been available to her and so while in the short run run we might have saved ourselves some grief it would have been horrible because if we look what happened with Joe Biden
- 46:07[SPEAKER_00]: look at every, it started off with January six.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_00]: And it just never went away.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_00]: Maga would not have died with her being elected.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that, you know, I mean, as much as I wanted her to be the president, I think that perhaps, you know, we're going to suffer up here, like as opposed to suffer down and just go, we're doomed and, you know, be the democratic ER.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to do that.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just going to say, let's look at the opportunity that we have.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, there was a whole bunch of people who I didn't agree with, who wanted to burn everything down.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, well, everything's burning down.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_00]: Everything is burning down.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_00]: And that gives us an opportunity to rebuild in a new and different way.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that kind of coincides with what we were talking about earlier with new people coming into the picture, because people are sick and tired of it.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_00]: But the whole point of all of this, of all this stuff that I'm saying, is that,
- 47:03[SPEAKER_00]: not only is everything being damaged, it's being damaged by a demented man who's dying.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_00]: So I want to just, you know, I love talking about this because he's dying and I fucking hate him.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_00]: He's an abuser.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_00]: He's an abuser to the country.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_00]: He's an abuser to everybody.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, when you're in a toxic situation where you're dealing with an abuser, usually you want that abuser to go away, go to jail, die, whatever, and I think so many people are in this boat.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_00]: So, uh, there is new information now, and there was a publication called stat.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_00]: I think there was another, I don't know, there was somebody else who wrote about this, but they learned that Eli Lilly and the FDA have allowed one person.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_00]: who is obese, and who was 79 in April, and who was very well-connected, wink, wink, wink, to access this experimental drug through the FDA's compassionate use program.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_00]: And it's a pathway that gives patients with serious immediately life-threatening medical issues.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, let me repeat that.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_00]: Serious and immediately life-threatening medical issues to experimental treatments.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_00]: So epistemic crisis doctor on Instagram was explaining all of this because he is a doctor of patients with dementia and heart disease and all of it.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_00]: And he was saying that this particular drug is for obesity.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_00]: And Trump
- 48:26[SPEAKER_00]: is likely taking it because he's got sleep apnea and his obesity is killing him.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_00]: So they're giving him this drug and of course first the White House said no comment and then they were reached out to again and they said no, it's not Trump, but he was 79 in April and he's obese and he's well-connected.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_00]: So it's obviously a Tim, but yesterday might as touch put up a video talking about this and showed a clip of Donald Trump speaking yesterday and he was, oh my god, his saliva was pulling like to a really
- 49:06[SPEAKER_00]: a more, let's just, I'm trying to figure out words that aren't gross, because I just saliva just grossed out, but it's lots of saliva in his mouth.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, and he was also kind of chance, like his mouth was moot, like his jaw almost was becoming unhinged.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_00]: because of the, you know, and then other times though, we see him and he sounds better because I think that he gets all drugged up.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, I'm just throwing this out there because, you know, I did bring up all this damage, but I look at him and he's following a part.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_00]: Everything Trump touches dice, right?
- 49:39[SPEAKER_00]: The reflecting pool,
- 49:42[SPEAKER_00]: country.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_00]: But he touches himself too.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_00]: I know I know he's not dying fast enough for a lot of people, but I feel like there is, and we've talked about this before, but I'm never going to shut up about it as long as it's alive, because I think he is one of the most toxic people in the world, and it's like I feel like people look at him and they say, oh, he gets away with everything, and he's Teflon Don, and as you pointed out, he's flailing, he's not winning any more,
- 50:12[SPEAKER_00]: This is how I take some comfort.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_00]: I know that he is not having a good time.
- 50:17[SPEAKER_00]: Like he said, he is aware of backlash he's getting.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_00]: He is aware of failures.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_00]: I know they blow sunshine up his ass.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_00]: And I know that he isn't really aware of everything that's going on.
- 50:29[SPEAKER_00]: But you know, I'm sure they keep certain things from him, but regardless, he understands he understands he's dying.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_00]: And he understands that he is not as popular as he would like to be.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_00]: and it makes me feel good to know that because it's so difficult to watch what's happening to our country.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 50:48[SPEAKER_00]: It's just so difficult.
- 50:51[SPEAKER_00]: I'm hoping that all of this results in something positive, like Ruth Bader Ginsburg said the pendulum always swings.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_00]: While the pendulum did not swing with Joe Biden, it kind of started getting toward going to the other side, but then it just went right back to the right.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that with everything that's going on and when the cult leader is no longer around,
- 51:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's still going to be awful.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_00]: Don't get me wrong, but I think that it's going to start changing things in a way that can't happen with him alive.
- 51:29[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't know when he's going to go, nobody knows when he's going to go, but boy, he looks really bad.
- 51:37[SPEAKER_01]: One of the reports that I read this week, it said that when his whole cancels thing happened when the first report, you know, when people were like, holy crap, look at the pictures of his ankles.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_01]: That he was so freaked out about it that he made Caroline love it.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_01]: Go out there to explain it.
- 51:59[SPEAKER_01]: And to come up with something, some reason for it because he, I mean, and obviously it's been since because he's so obsessed about his appearance, like he, that's why he wears the orange makeup and why he now has makeup on his hands and and and all of that.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think, I think that you're right in this sense that the,
- 52:17[SPEAKER_01]: The cult leader once he is gone, MAGA will fall apart in that it is a cult around a personality and an identity and there's no real way for him.
- 52:34[SPEAKER_01]: given who he is to pass that on to deliver that to somebody else because it's not going to be done during your right but it's like it's not in his DNA to be able to turn things over to somebody else to like to start building up JD Vance or Marco Rubio he's not going to take any attention away from himself because it is like any win that there is.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_01]: will get his credit, not JD Dance.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's not, you know, Rubio.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_01]: So any chance of getting accolades or sorry accolades from accomplishments that the administration, like they're all gonna come to him.
- 53:16[SPEAKER_01]: And so no one's really gonna be able to run off of this idea if I did this, I did this.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_01]: This even if they, that's exactly what they did.
- 53:22[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like basically Marco Rubio's just trying to keep
- 53:29[SPEAKER_01]: a nuclear war from happening, right?
- 53:31[SPEAKER_01]: And so which admirable, very good thing to put on the resume.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_01]: But there's no way the Donald Trump is ever going to like go campaign for him and be like, yeah, this guy stopped me from blowing stuff up.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_00]: We're from Bill and all of us, right?
- 53:48[SPEAKER_00]: No, he, I would be surprised if he was even around for the 28,
- 53:54[SPEAKER_00]: race.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_00]: I can't imagine it.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_00]: I, you know, I always say the same thing like what if it were my dad that I love.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know,
- 54:02[SPEAKER_00]: because like Ivanka, I don't think really has much love.
- 54:05[SPEAKER_00]: But, and who could blame her?
- 54:06[SPEAKER_00]: But if, you know, if Donald Trump were a father that I loved, I would be worried.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_00]: I would be like, okay, I think that's dying now.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_00]: I've been saying this for a long time.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know what I mean?
- 54:17[SPEAKER_00]: My boyfriend's father had a couple of strokes, and then he had a really bad stroke, and I don't remember the time frame of how long it took, but I don't know, it was a couple of months.
- 54:29[SPEAKER_00]: And everybody knew, you know, when it was a stroke, you know, people have opined that Trump has stroked out and I think he has, but clearly he's still able to maintain and at some point, you know, you get to a point where you can't maintain, but.
- 54:47[SPEAKER_00]: when my boyfriend's father, you know, prior to his more devastating stroke, everybody knew, everybody knew, all right, this is the, you know, we're coming up on the end, no.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_00]: And it was like right before his 80s, the first day or whatever number it was, no, it's just like 80s, second or whatever it was, you know, everybody thought, okay, let's make sure all the family gets together because we don't know, we don't even think that he's going to
- 55:15[SPEAKER_00]: You know, in that case, nobody was saying from your lips to God's ears, but every time you say Trump's dying, they say that, it's not about hope!
- 55:22[SPEAKER_01]: It just happened to, that's what's happened to old people.
- 55:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we're all going to die guys.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's not breaking news.
- 55:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's not going to be, yeah, some people died 70, some people died 90, some people died 100.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody's got their time and nobody can really predict it.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_00]: But we can all look at this guy and say, oh, my God.
- 55:39[SPEAKER_00]: He is about as unhealthy as one gets.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_00]: He never exercises.
- 55:42[SPEAKER_00]: He eats like shit.
- 55:43[SPEAKER_00]: He's on so many fucking drugs right now.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_00]: God only knows what drugs he's on.
- 55:47[SPEAKER_00]: I guess they took them off Pro-Pesha because it inhibits cognitive drugs, so you know he's on all these things and then on top of it they're giving him stuff to you know pump them up and give him energy so he can go out there and perform.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, I mean, nobody knows, you know, and I've seen people say, well, I know, dementia patients who have lasted a really long time who act like Trump, that's fine.
- 56:12[SPEAKER_00]: But not everybody has Trump's makeup.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_00]: Trump might outlive, you know, my Trump might go to 2020-29.
- 56:18[SPEAKER_00]: I doubt it, but he could.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_00]: But the whole point here is he's fucking dying and the Republican party knows it and I think that is why making Kelly and Tucker Carlson and all these people are jumping ship.
- 56:32[SPEAKER_00]: They see he's dying.
- 56:33[SPEAKER_00]: They see that he's unpopular and they're like, all right, we got to figure the shit out because we're the ones who caused it.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_00]: So now we've got it and he's not very popular and he's fucking dying.
- 56:43[SPEAKER_00]: They all see it.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, as you can, I'm very spirited to take because I'm in a shitty mood.
- 56:48[SPEAKER_00]: So sometimes when I'm in a shitty mood, I get extra angry.
- 56:50[SPEAKER_00]: I'm talking about my other stuff.
- 56:54[SPEAKER_00]: But it's like, oh my god, and I just, I'm at the point now where I feel like every morning I wake up and it's like, fuck, he's still alive.
- 57:03[SPEAKER_00]: He's still fucking here because I don't know what's gonna happen, but I do think, and I mean, I'm not even gonna ask you to speculate, but,
- 57:10[SPEAKER_00]: There's going to be an unknown.
- 57:13[SPEAKER_00]: Like we all think we know it's going to happen.
- 57:14[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to die and fill in the blank.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_00]: But there's an unknown.
- 57:18[SPEAKER_00]: We just don't know what that unknown is.
- 57:20[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe everything will just go according to what we think is the plan.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_00]: Whatever's going to happen, JB will take over.
- 57:28[SPEAKER_00]: And then of course, legacy media will act like we have this whole normal breath of fresh air guy in and all that shit thing we know we're going to do it.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_00]: But he's never going to be popular because he's not popular.
- 57:40[SPEAKER_00]: There's going to be a reaction from the world and from American voters that I don't think really anybody can predict right now We all like to try to predict it, but I just don't think so I think there's like a wild card in there and You know, I guess we'll just have to wait and see what that wild card is and if I'm correct.
- 57:57[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know
- 57:59[SPEAKER_01]: I would stay to, like, just to end on an optimistic note, um, you can't control when you're going to die, but the one thing you can control is voting and showing up to vote and helping register people to vote and making sure that your, um, people who are not paying attention or actually paying attention, and we can't, there's so much that we can't control in the Trump stuff and the politics stuff and the policy stuff, but there are things you can control
- 58:28[SPEAKER_01]: And at least try and watch a couple of videos of kittens and puppies just to remember that there is beauty in the world and there is something to be happy about and to love.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and see that's much nicer than me ending on him dying.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_00]: And we're all going to die, we're all going to die.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not about hopes and all that hopes and prayers or whatever, but it's like from your mouth to guy.
- 58:51[SPEAKER_00]: Whenever someone says that to me, it's like, oh, my God, he's going to die, and we're all going to fucking die.
- 58:57[SPEAKER_00]: And he's a lot closer than a whole bunch of people.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_00]: So we just see it.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_00]: So and nobody,
- 59:04[SPEAKER_00]: They're not being honest with us.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_00]: That's the other thing.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, everybody was so bad.
- 59:07[SPEAKER_00]: You have obsessed with Joe Biden's age and the legacy media couldn't stop talking about it.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_00]: But they're real quiet now.
- 59:14[SPEAKER_00]: When Trump is falling asleep in public and, you know, public, flat financial, and all of it.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, they don't say anything about that.
- 59:21[SPEAKER_01]: But every accusation is, and then I said, I won't let it go.
- 59:25[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not, yeah, I can media and I have a much smaller audience, but I'm not fucking letting it go.
- 59:29[SPEAKER_00]: So good on you.
- 59:31[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 59:32[SPEAKER_00]: So once again, make sure everybody knows where to follow you.
- 59:37[SPEAKER_01]: So Sarah Burris on Blue Sky, and I tried to make lots of jokes there.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_01]: I have been this week on Facebook on Facebook.com slash Sarah K Burris.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_01]: I have been posting as many of the algae and reflecting pool memes is I can find because they are giving me life.
- 59:55[SPEAKER_01]: They are so funny.
- 59:58[SPEAKER_01]: And just, I mean, like, the swamp monster analogies, and I just end the AI clips from forest gumper, you know, Jenny's running through the water and, like, a swamp monster attacks or it's like, this is giving me life trying to find the funny, you know, horrible situation.
- 1:00:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, totally.
- 1:00:17[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think that that's the only thing that's keeping me alive.
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_00]: It's the fact that we still have a sense of humor, you know, it's not alive, but I mean, it's keeping me sane, I should say, because it's like the sense of humor is what it's all about.
- 1:00:30[SPEAKER_00]: We have a sense of humor, and I do think I will end it this way.
- 1:00:35[SPEAKER_00]: I do think,
- 1:00:36[SPEAKER_00]: that we're going to win is just we've got to slog through some more of this shit for a couple more years but if we play our cards right you know we can get ourselves out of it because it ain't nobody coming to save us but us and we got a vote so everybody be strong and have a plan so Sarah thank you so much for being on the show and obviously we're going to talk again yes thank you so much and don't worry and get better
