- 0:00Speaker 1: What's going on, everybody. It's Jeff here.
- 0:02Speaker 2: I wanted to let you know we recorded this podcast
- 0:04Speaker 2: episode on Wednesday, October thirtieth, twenty twenty four. By the
- 0:07Speaker 2: time you hear this, some things may have changed here
- 0:09Speaker 2: or there, but we hope you enjoy the show. Welcome
- 0:46Speaker 2: to the Philadelphia Sports Table podcast show, the longest running
- 0:48Speaker 2: weekly Philly sports podcast show in the world. That's right
- 0:51Speaker 2: eleven and a half years strong. We've got a great
- 0:53Speaker 2: show coming to you this week. We're going to be
- 0:55Speaker 2: getting into some Flyers talk. We got some Sixers talk
- 0:58Speaker 2: on the way as well, and uh, we're asking the
- 1:01Speaker 2: question where did it all go wrong for the Philadelphia
- 1:03Speaker 2: Union this year? And then what we are throwing down
- 1:06Speaker 2: on the table. Good friend of the show, Chris Diebler
- 1:08Speaker 2: from the Party on Broad podcast Birds of the Round
- 1:12Speaker 2: Table podcast as well. He's gonna be joining us this
- 1:14Speaker 2: week to dive into what we've been seeing from this
- 1:16Speaker 2: Philadelphia Eagles team this season. They're starting to starting to
- 1:21Speaker 2: really show us some stuff here. I think it's gonna
- 1:23Speaker 2: be a pretty positive discussion, believe it or not, about
- 1:25Speaker 2: this Philadelphia Eagles team. I'm Jeff Warren and I'm hearing
- 1:27Speaker 2: my buddy Len Hunsicker.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Lenn hate doing man, I'm doing good.
- 1:31Speaker 2: I'm glad to hear that. Yeah, glad to hear that
- 1:34Speaker 2: you're not sick anymore. I think the last time you
- 1:36Speaker 2: were on you were starting to feel a little better.
- 1:37Speaker 1: You had you had, you had the big C. So
- 1:40Speaker 1: well I should say, well, no, not that one.
- 1:42Speaker 3: That's another one. Let's hope we don't get that one.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, yes, Well glad you're feeling better.
- 1:48Speaker 2: I'll tell you, man, we got a lot to a
- 1:50Speaker 2: lot to go over this week in the world of
- 1:51Speaker 2: Philly sports. Let's just start getting getting into it because
- 1:54Speaker 2: we haven't dove into the Flyers too too much recently. Well,
- 1:57Speaker 2: Eric was on the show last week, so we're obviously
- 1:59Speaker 2: not going to hawk Flyers when he's on. But my gosh, Lynn,
- 2:03Speaker 2: there are some major issues going on with this team
- 2:06Speaker 2: right out of the gate. They're going through some pain
- 2:08Speaker 2: right now, as fans are going through some pain watching
- 2:10Speaker 2: these games. Just want to, you know, give some early
- 2:13Speaker 2: thoughts here on what has really been happening with this team.
- 2:16Speaker 2: I just it feels like it's an extension of last
- 2:19Speaker 2: season for some reason, and I don't know if it's
- 2:22Speaker 2: the John Tortorella effect of these guys saying, you know what,
- 2:26Speaker 2: we're not really big fans of him. Maybe behind the scenes,
- 2:30Speaker 2: I don't know if that's part of it. It's just
- 2:32Speaker 2: a vibe that I'm getting. And maybe it's just the
- 2:34Speaker 2: fact that too, you got guys like Owen Tippett, Tyson Forrester,
- 2:38Speaker 2: Joel Farrabee. They just have to be better on the ice.
- 2:41Speaker 2: They're just not playing well. A lot of these players
- 2:44Speaker 2: are just not playing well and they're getting out shot,
- 2:49Speaker 2: they're not generating the offense. I don't know, man, what
- 2:52Speaker 2: have you been seeing here? These are just some of
- 2:54Speaker 2: my early thoughts on what's been happening with this disaster
- 2:56Speaker 2: of a season so far.
- 2:58Speaker 4: Well, the offense is kind of middling. I mean goals
- 3:01Speaker 4: for you know, they've got twenty nine so far this year,
- 3:05Speaker 4: and that's about midway through the league. It's seventeenth out
- 3:08Speaker 4: of thirty two teams. Bigger problem is goals against, which
- 3:11Speaker 4: is forty. That is twenty eighth out of thirty two teams.
- 3:15Speaker 4: So I mean on the back end and in the net,
- 3:20Speaker 4: they need to tighten stuff up that that to me
- 3:23Speaker 4: is the biggest problem right now.
- 3:25Speaker 3: That's facing this team.
- 3:27Speaker 4: You know, as far as the you know, the goaltending,
- 3:31Speaker 4: Erson's been okay, you know, say percentage of eight and
- 3:35Speaker 4: ninety goals against average of three. But you know, Bettav
- 3:39Speaker 4: has been sorry, yeah, some last names he's been.
- 3:45Speaker 1: He's been bad, brutal, really bad. It's brutal, you know.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Kolosov He's only played the one game so far, so
- 3:51Speaker 4: we'll see how he goes. You know, a little bit
- 3:55Speaker 4: of a rough showing his first time out too. Erson's
- 3:58Speaker 4: been definitely the best of the three ye and he's
- 4:01Speaker 4: going to carry most of the workload.
- 4:03Speaker 3: But it just feels like.
- 4:05Speaker 4: Just defensively, they're they're not you know, and and yeah,
- 4:09Speaker 4: I don't mean to dump that all in the goalies,
- 4:10Speaker 4: but it does feel like defensively they're just not there.
- 4:14Speaker 4: And you know, having Cam york Now out for at
- 4:17Speaker 4: least another probably week and a half is not going
- 4:20Speaker 4: to help matter. So you know, I know, they brought
- 4:22Speaker 4: in brought up Emil Andre from from Lehigh Valley, so
- 4:25Speaker 4: we'll see what happens there. But uh, yeah it And
- 4:28Speaker 4: and that's the odd thing is when you think of
- 4:31Speaker 4: a John Twitterrella team, you know what he's preaching first
- 4:34Speaker 4: and foremost, and that's you know, responsible hockey and and defense. Yeah,
- 4:39Speaker 4: and we're just we're just not seeing it right now.
- 4:42Speaker 1: We're not.
- 4:43Speaker 2: And look, I the one thing we talked about lend
- 4:46Speaker 2: you and I talked about it before. I talked about
- 4:48Speaker 2: it during our Flyers season preview. I think with Kelly
- 4:52Speaker 2: Hinkel as well, which was Jamie Drysdale, have you he
- 4:55Speaker 2: just needs to step up and now with cam yorke out,
- 4:58Speaker 2: I think it gives him the ability to really showcase
- 5:01Speaker 2: his talents. But we we really haven't seen too too
- 5:05Speaker 2: much from him at this point. And I'm thinking to myself,
- 5:08Speaker 2: my gosh, I mean he has talent. It's there. I
- 5:11Speaker 2: think everybody can see it. Yes, his injuries have you know,
- 5:15Speaker 2: derailed part of his you know, young career thus far,
- 5:19Speaker 2: and that injury bug really took a hold of him
- 5:21Speaker 2: last season. He appeared in just twenty four games last year.
- 5:24Speaker 2: But with regard to this year, I was really hoping
- 5:27Speaker 2: to see a lot from him out of the gate,
- 5:29Speaker 2: and we haven't. But I think right now with York out,
- 5:32Speaker 2: like you mentioned, Jamie Drysdale can really showcase his talents
- 5:35Speaker 2: he's got.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I think this is his opportunity right now.
- 5:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm gonna shut the door it Okay, dogs.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Sparking and we're gonna take care of that right now. Yeah,
- 5:46Speaker 3: I mean, right now.
- 5:47Speaker 4: It's just there's a lot of there's a lot of
- 5:49Speaker 4: young guys currently that you feel like, Okay, I thought
- 5:55Speaker 4: they were going to take a step forward and they haven't.
- 5:57Speaker 4: And you mentioned Drysdale and he's a big part of it,
- 6:00Speaker 4: and he's twenty two. I mean, I mean, yeah, you know,
- 6:02Speaker 4: we just saw a guy in New York in Alexei Lafronier,
- 6:06Speaker 4: who was a number one overall pick in the draft,
- 6:09Speaker 4: and he for a couple of years was like, oh man,
- 6:11Speaker 4: this guy's a bus he's not breaking through. Finally, after
- 6:13Speaker 4: a couple of years in the league, he's breaking through.
- 6:15Speaker 4: He's having the year that people thought he would. He
- 6:17Speaker 4: got an extension. So maybe it's just that, but yeah,
- 6:21Speaker 4: they're the Flyers are chock full of guys that he
- 6:24Speaker 4: thought would maybe take a little bit of a leap.
- 6:27Speaker 4: And you can throw Drysi on that category, and you
- 6:29Speaker 4: can throw the guys that you mentioned Forrester and guys
- 6:33Speaker 4: like that Bobby Brink. Maybe you know, we're kind of
- 6:36Speaker 4: waiting for these guys who you know, they're they're support
- 6:41Speaker 4: pieces to me. I mean, none of these guys, you know,
- 6:43Speaker 4: Tippett maybe has you know, second line potential. Yeah, but
- 6:50Speaker 4: none of these guys like Mitch Cobb is going to
- 6:52Speaker 4: be the star of the team. And you know, if
- 6:55Speaker 4: they continue down this path of where they are record wise,
- 6:58Speaker 4: whoever they is going to be one of the stars
- 7:01Speaker 4: of the team because they're probably going to be picking
- 7:03Speaker 4: high if this, if this continues exactly.
- 7:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 7:06Speaker 4: So you know, I mean the support pieces that you
- 7:09Speaker 4: kind of hoped would take a leap so far this season,
- 7:14Speaker 4: it hasn't happened, and that doesn't mean it won't. But
- 7:16Speaker 4: you know, they're all off to a slow start this year,
- 7:19Speaker 4: and that's that's what it is.
- 7:23Speaker 3: You know.
- 7:23Speaker 4: We we saw a little bit from from gentle Luchanko
- 7:26Speaker 4: before he got sent down to juniors again, so I
- 7:30Speaker 4: mean that was a nice little taste of what he
- 7:32Speaker 4: can do. But you know, again, I think they made
- 7:34Speaker 4: the right call in sending him down and letting him
- 7:37Speaker 4: get you know, more seasoning with some you know, competitions
- 7:40Speaker 4: that's his age and you know, hopefully developing his game
- 7:43Speaker 4: a little bit. But I just think there's a lot
- 7:45Speaker 4: of young guys that you know they're depending on to
- 7:49Speaker 4: to make a bit of a leap, and thus far
- 7:52Speaker 4: the season that just hasn't happened.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like when I watched this team too,
- 7:55Speaker 2: I mean kind of going back to the offensive perspective,
- 7:58Speaker 2: and it's the last point I'll make before he move
- 8:00Speaker 2: on to getting into some Sixers talk here, But like
- 8:03Speaker 2: I feel like they're Controlled Entry is running on all cylinders.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Quite frankly, I think we've seen some good stuff when
- 8:10Speaker 2: it comes to their Controlled Entry, but then not a
- 8:12Speaker 2: lot of support once they are there, you know, getting
- 8:16Speaker 2: set where they can't even then get a shot off.
- 8:18Speaker 2: They're letting the other team actually get set in terms
- 8:21Speaker 2: of their defense. They're not even able to get a
- 8:23Speaker 2: shot off, And it just seems like at that point,
- 8:25Speaker 2: Controlled Entry not too bad at all. I'm liking what
- 8:28Speaker 2: I'm seeing, but then there's this disconnect. It's like it's
- 8:32Speaker 2: like the players are actually trying to do too much
- 8:34Speaker 2: on the ice. I feel like there's this overall sense
- 8:38Speaker 2: of this team and the players they know where they're
- 8:41Speaker 2: at with regard to where the organization is. It's the
- 8:45Speaker 2: rebuild and they're actually trying to coming out of the
- 8:47Speaker 2: gate here, kind of trying to do too much, and
- 8:49Speaker 2: it's kind of backfiring on them. Like that's what it
- 8:52Speaker 2: seems like to me from an overall standpoint, because they
- 8:55Speaker 2: know this season. A lot of these players know this
- 8:56Speaker 2: season that this rebuild and who is going to be
- 8:59Speaker 2: members of this team over these next two three, four years.
- 9:03Speaker 2: You know, they want to see this Flyers organization wants
- 9:05Speaker 2: to see who those players are going to be. And again,
- 9:08Speaker 2: there's that disconnect for some reason on the ice, and
- 9:11Speaker 2: I just think some of these players are trying to
- 9:12Speaker 2: do too much.
- 9:14Speaker 4: Maybe there's a sense of, like, you know, last year, look,
- 9:16Speaker 4: nobody expected them to be in it, and they were
- 9:18Speaker 4: in it until maybe the last couple of weeks, and
- 9:21Speaker 4: maybe there's a certain sense of trying to, you know,
- 9:23Speaker 4: live up to that. Okay, we were almost there last year,
- 9:26Speaker 4: we almost made the playoffs, and everybody, you know, all
- 9:29Speaker 4: our young guys are are another year older and another
- 9:32Speaker 4: year more experience, and you know, now, maybe we should
- 9:35Speaker 4: be doing this.
- 9:36Speaker 3: And wait, what's happening. It's not working, So.
- 9:39Speaker 4: Maybe a little bit of panic is setting in. I
- 9:40Speaker 4: don't know, but yeah, just thus far it hasn't clicked.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Yeah, it has not clicked.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Bobby Brink is going to be coming back to the
- 9:48Speaker 2: line up here too, with an opportunity, So we're going
- 9:51Speaker 2: to certainly be keeping our eyes on him and what
- 9:53Speaker 2: he's going to be doing as well. Lend you got
- 9:55Speaker 2: anything else before we hit into some Sixers talk here?
- 9:58Speaker 3: No?
- 9:58Speaker 2: Now, all right, well, let's I had some Sixers talk
- 10:01Speaker 2: right here again. Major issues with the Sixers and this team.
- 10:06Speaker 2: They are struggling and we all know why. It's because
- 10:09Speaker 2: Joel Embiid and Paul George have been sidelined. Give our
- 10:12Speaker 2: thoughts here on this early part of the season. My gosh, Lynn,
- 10:16Speaker 2: it did and now and now this organization is fined
- 10:21Speaker 2: one hundred thousand dollars with regard to the statements that
- 10:26Speaker 2: the organization made about Joel Embiid's health with regard to
- 10:30Speaker 2: his knee. I mean last or last week, it was
- 10:33Speaker 2: confirmed that, and we talked about on the table Talk
- 10:35Speaker 2: podcast I did with our good friend Josh Rodriguez, that
- 10:39Speaker 2: the NBA NBA was going to be investigating the seventy
- 10:42Speaker 2: six ers simply for the load management, lack of playing
- 10:47Speaker 2: time with their superstars and as ridiculous as it is,
- 10:51Speaker 2: because every team does that. Sixers are stupid. I'm going
- 10:53Speaker 2: to come out and say, oh yoh, this is what
- 10:55Speaker 2: we're gonna do. But with this fine, this one hundred
- 10:57Speaker 2: thousand dollars fine for really just in things mom about
- 11:02Speaker 2: Joel Embiid's injury Land. It's just it's a bad look
- 11:06Speaker 2: for this team. This team is not getting all this season,
- 11:09Speaker 2: this twenty twenty four twenty twenty five season. They're not
- 11:12Speaker 2: getting off to a good start here in more ways
- 11:15Speaker 2: than one. It's really astonishing to me.
- 11:18Speaker 4: Yeah, it seems like they don't quite know what to
- 11:22Speaker 4: say about Embiid and maybe they maybe they don't have
- 11:25Speaker 4: all the information that they did have, and maybe that's
- 11:29Speaker 4: causing the say stuff that maybe they shouldn't.
- 11:33Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 11:34Speaker 1: It seems like a lack of transparency at this point.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:37Speaker 4: And whether that's by design or whether it's because, like
- 11:40Speaker 4: I said, maybe they're still trying to figure out what's
- 11:43Speaker 4: happening with Embiid and they don't know themselves. That's certainly
- 11:46Speaker 4: possibility as well. But there's something there to that, and
- 11:49Speaker 4: there's you know, something that makes you go, Okay, there's
- 11:53Speaker 4: got to be more here and maybe they're not being
- 11:56Speaker 4: forthright with us. So yeah, I don't know. All I
- 12:00Speaker 4: know is, you know, Embiid makes this this year. Bay
- 12:05Speaker 4: salary is going to be fifty one million dollars a year,
- 12:10Speaker 4: lot over fifty one million dollars a year. Paul George
- 12:13Speaker 4: is making a little over forty nine million dollars just
- 12:16Speaker 4: this year.
- 12:17Speaker 3: Yep, that is one hundred.
- 12:18Speaker 4: Million dollars between two players that have played as many
- 12:22Speaker 4: NBA minutes. The combo Joel Embiid and Paul George have
- 12:26Speaker 4: played as many NBA minutes this year.
- 12:28Speaker 3: As the combo of Len Hunsker and Jeff Warren.
- 12:31Speaker 4: So you know, you know, and and it trickles down,
- 12:38Speaker 4: I think because you know so far, you know, looking
- 12:41Speaker 4: at the guys that have played, you know, look at
- 12:44Speaker 4: Tyrese Maxi. He's shooting thirty five percent from the floor.
- 12:48Speaker 4: It seems to me like a guy you know, yeah,
- 12:50Speaker 4: he's averaging thirty one points a game, but he's you know,
- 12:53Speaker 4: jacking up how many shots a game? And it just
- 12:57Speaker 4: reeks of a guy that you know, feels like, oh, okay,
- 13:00Speaker 4: those two were out.
- 13:01Speaker 3: I got to do everything.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Everything's on his shoulders.
- 13:03Speaker 4: Ye, so like, and he's probably taken a lot of
- 13:07Speaker 4: shots that he just should not be taking, that he
- 13:10Speaker 4: would not be taking if you know, those two guys
- 13:13Speaker 4: were there, and he maybe felt he had a little
- 13:15Speaker 4: bit more help than than than he does right now.
- 13:18Speaker 3: So that trickles down.
- 13:20Speaker 2: And there are good role players on this team. There
- 13:22Speaker 2: are good role players on this team, Lend. But we
- 13:24Speaker 2: need to have him beat in George out there.
- 13:27Speaker 4: You know, we you know, Okay, Paul George was the
- 13:30Speaker 4: splashy additional But I like what I like bringing Andre
- 13:34Speaker 4: Drummond back.
- 13:35Speaker 3: I never wanted them to leave in the first place.
- 13:37Speaker 4: I thought he was perfect unbeat insurance for the time
- 13:41Speaker 4: for the games that he is going to be missing.
- 13:43Speaker 4: And Caleb Martin was a pickup that I never expected
- 13:46Speaker 4: them to make, and they made it, and I was like,
- 13:49Speaker 4: oh my god, that's that's a great pickup. So yeah,
- 13:52Speaker 4: I mean, they they they've made some nice pickups. But again,
- 13:56Speaker 4: you know, having your two big guns out, you know
- 14:00Speaker 4: that everybody else has to step up, and the roles
- 14:03Speaker 4: quite frankly, they're they're probably they shouldn't be doing. So
- 14:08Speaker 4: it's just hard. The vibes are bad everywhere. I mean
- 14:11Speaker 4: with with this team. You know, you you've got a
- 14:14Speaker 4: team that you know right now they're one and two. Okay,
- 14:16Speaker 4: it's been three games so far. But you know, I
- 14:20Speaker 4: don't know, just just this is just me, just my perspective. Okay,
- 14:26Speaker 4: Like you said, one hundred million dollars between two guys,
- 14:30Speaker 4: are they combined or are they going to play seventy games
- 14:33Speaker 4: this year? You know what I mean?
- 14:35Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 14:36Speaker 4: You know, like if I think, you know, I can't
- 14:40Speaker 4: imagine being a season ticket holder to this team. And
- 14:44Speaker 4: then you've got the other thing of the arena that
- 14:46Speaker 4: that's the big fight now putting it in Chinatown and
- 14:49Speaker 4: the the you know, the battle that's going to happen there.
- 14:53Speaker 4: But you know, I like, being a season ticket holder
- 14:56Speaker 4: to this team is maybe maybe the Union or or
- 15:01Speaker 4: you know, the worst seem to be a season ticket
- 15:03Speaker 4: holder of. But like you have no guarantee that you're
- 15:06Speaker 4: gonna see either of the of the two big names
- 15:09Speaker 4: on this team. You don't want to give a night
- 15:11Speaker 4: like you don't you don't know what you're gonna see.
- 15:12Speaker 4: Maybe you'll see one of them, maybe ten nights a
- 15:16Speaker 4: year this year. Maybe we'll see both of them. In
- 15:18Speaker 4: a game, chances are you'll see none of them. I mean,
- 15:21Speaker 4: you know, it's just those tickets are not cheap. I
- 15:26Speaker 4: cannot imagine being a season ticket holder of this team.
- 15:30Speaker 4: I I can't even imagine, you know, it's picking out
- 15:34Speaker 4: a random game in January and wanting to go to it,
- 15:36Speaker 4: you know, having any expectations of seeing the players that
- 15:39Speaker 4: you actually want to see.
- 15:41Speaker 5: Right.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Eric was saying that he wants to take his son
- 15:43Speaker 2: last week on the show. He's like, I'd love to
- 15:45Speaker 2: take my son to a game, and we're gonna go.
- 15:47Speaker 2: He's like, I just don't know when and what game
- 15:49Speaker 2: it's gonna be.
- 15:50Speaker 4: Yeah, and maybe you do that, and and you go
- 15:54Speaker 4: to a game and you get a starting lineup of
- 15:57Speaker 4: Andre Drubbin, you know, Caleb Martin, Kelly Youu, Brady Junior,
- 16:00Speaker 4: Kyle Lowry, and you know, maybe you get Maxie but
- 16:03Speaker 4: you know, h who knows. Yeah, So it just it sucks.
- 16:08Speaker 4: It's not fun, it's not good. It's not really fair
- 16:13Speaker 4: to the fans. It's not And this is why, you know,
- 16:16Speaker 4: this is why I needed to get into a fantasy
- 16:19Speaker 4: league to try to reignore my interest in the NBA.
- 16:22Speaker 4: This stuff like this is, and it doesn't just happen
- 16:25Speaker 4: in Philadelphia. It happens in other cities as well with
- 16:28Speaker 4: other teams. But this is why, Yeah.
- 16:31Speaker 2: You make a good point, and just to go back about,
- 16:33Speaker 2: you know, the stuff that's happening with him, beat and
- 16:35Speaker 2: George and look and look Paul George. It's understandable that
- 16:38Speaker 2: he might not be ready to play. It's thirty four
- 16:40Speaker 2: years old. Hyper extended his left knee a little over
- 16:42Speaker 2: two weeks ago during a preseason game against the Hawks.
- 16:46Speaker 2: It was diagnosed with a bone bruise. But like again
- 16:49Speaker 2: for him, understand understandable, I think. But you know, we
- 16:53Speaker 2: go going back to the Prescott Nick Nurses press conference
- 16:56Speaker 2: on I think it was Tuesday. We're recording this Wens Day,
- 17:01Speaker 2: when Nick Nurse sat down to speak. The first question,
- 17:03Speaker 2: of course, was about Embiid and George and if they
- 17:06Speaker 2: were able to practice. It was a fair question right
- 17:09Speaker 2: off the bat, but he wouldn't answer, and he referred
- 17:12Speaker 2: to the statement and then another reporter Before he could
- 17:16Speaker 2: even get the question out, Nick Nurse cuts them off
- 17:18Speaker 2: and said he just wasn't going to answer anything. And
- 17:21Speaker 2: I think that fans too, and even us too have
- 17:23Speaker 2: to probably realized that Nick Nurse is probably frustrated, and
- 17:27Speaker 2: I think his frustration is probably understandable. He wants em
- 17:30Speaker 2: beat out on the floor, you know, probably more than
- 17:34Speaker 2: any other fan or media member, does, you know what
- 17:36Speaker 2: I mean?
- 17:37Speaker 1: But like someone from.
- 17:38Speaker 2: The Sixers needs to provide some answers as to what's
- 17:41Speaker 2: going on. This isn't just like the media trying to
- 17:44Speaker 2: be a pain in the ass here. I mean as
- 17:46Speaker 2: far as Embiid goes, like, we need to know what
- 17:49Speaker 2: the hell is going on with the player that the
- 17:51Speaker 2: Sixers title hoops most almost completely hinge on here, you
- 17:55Speaker 2: know that?
- 17:56Speaker 4: Like yeah, and the thing is you're big splash, you know. Okay,
- 18:01Speaker 4: last year he played seventy four games. But prior to that,
- 18:06Speaker 4: I'm going to go back chronologically here, twenty twenty two
- 18:08Speaker 4: to twenty three season, he played fifty six games. The
- 18:11Speaker 4: year before that, he played thirty one games. The year
- 18:14Speaker 4: before that, he played fifty four games. The year before that,
- 18:16Speaker 4: he played forty eight games out of an eighty two
- 18:19Speaker 4: game season. This is not a guy with a good
- 18:22Speaker 4: health track lay. Yeah, and you knew this when you
- 18:25Speaker 4: sign him to that deal, like all of a sudden
- 18:28Speaker 4: at age thirty, four. He's not going to magically, you know,
- 18:34Speaker 4: find the fountain of health, right, you know, it's it's
- 18:38Speaker 4: not gonna happen. So you know, I I don't what
- 18:42Speaker 4: did you expect?
- 18:43Speaker 5: Right? Yeah?
- 18:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I think we do expect some transparency
- 18:46Speaker 2: from this organization, and that's what season ticket holders should expect.
- 18:50Speaker 2: And it sucks that everybody's kind of being jerked around.
- 18:53Speaker 2: So again, we're frustrated with the Flyers, frustrated with the Sixers.
- 18:57Speaker 2: We're in frustrated land except for the Eagles.
- 19:00Speaker 1: This happened? How did this turn around?
- 19:02Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 19:02Speaker 4: I know, really, they're really the only the only team
- 19:06Speaker 4: that's currently playing right now that you have good vibes
- 19:08Speaker 4: about exactly exactly.
- 19:10Speaker 2: We're gonna get to the Union in just a bit here,
- 19:12Speaker 2: right after the break. But speaking of the break, lend,
- 19:16Speaker 2: do you do you have anything else for the Sixers here?
- 19:18Speaker 2: I think we pretty much dissected just about everything that's
- 19:21Speaker 2: going on with as team here.
- 19:23Speaker 4: Yeah, it's just I mean, they just need their big
- 19:27Speaker 4: guns to come yep and play and have.
- 19:31Speaker 3: Some good games and get some wins and just get.
- 19:34Speaker 4: Some good vibes going because right now there's just none.
- 19:38Speaker 5: Yep.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Yep.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Well, that's a good way to in this first little
- 19:43Speaker 2: segment here before we go to the break. But if
- 19:45Speaker 2: you are listening to us for the first time, subscribe

- 20:11Speaker 2: And with that being said, we're gonna take quick break.
- 20:13Speaker 2: We'll be back in just a bit. All right, We
- 20:16Speaker 2: are back in Len because you are on as well.
- 20:20Speaker 1: We got to talk about the Philadelphia Union.
- 20:22Speaker 2: I don't even know if Eric knows that the Union
- 20:24Speaker 2: or a team you know, even even near Philly at
- 20:27Speaker 2: this point.
- 20:28Speaker 5: Maybe not.
- 20:29Speaker 4: But yeah, the way they're going, you know a lot
- 20:33Speaker 4: of people and a lot of people you know, got
- 20:36Speaker 4: and pick some of these dudes out of a lineup.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Yeah, what a collapse? What a collapse?
- 20:40Speaker 2: From this this Union team during the course of this
- 20:44Speaker 2: twenty twenty four season. I mean they crashed like partiers
- 20:50Speaker 2: hitting the pillow at dawn.
- 20:54Speaker 4: Or us now at eleven o'clock exactly exactly.
- 20:59Speaker 2: My gosh, the Union, you know they had they there
- 21:07Speaker 2: was that stretch len where it was just slow. The
- 21:10Speaker 2: stretch I shouldn't even call it a stretch. It was
- 21:12Speaker 2: like all season just slow starts, game after game after game.
- 21:16Speaker 2: But you know, I think I think this collapse really
- 21:19Speaker 2: could be summed up in a couple of ways, just
- 21:21Speaker 2: at that terrible stretch of nine games in the middle
- 21:23Speaker 2: of the season, the one where they were basically just
- 21:26Speaker 2: sleeping out there on the field, and the defense from
- 21:30Speaker 2: being one of the best in the league I would
- 21:32Speaker 2: say two years ago or so, being ranked eighteenth in
- 21:37Speaker 2: the league in terms of goals allowed, from basically going
- 21:41Speaker 2: from best in the class to below average with largely
- 21:44Speaker 2: the same starting players. And that really is, you know,
- 21:49Speaker 2: where you can take this team and look at the
- 21:52Speaker 2: fact of where they really failed in a lot of ways. Again,
- 21:56Speaker 2: that terrible nine game stretch from May into July, six
- 22:02Speaker 2: games at home where they just couldn't get it done
- 22:04Speaker 2: against Eastern Conference teams that averaged the seventh position in
- 22:09Speaker 2: the table at the years and and and it was
- 22:13Speaker 2: it was average strength to schedule and they just weren't
- 22:16Speaker 2: able to get it done. So quite a collapse. And
- 22:19Speaker 2: again the fact that the defense was just just horrendous,
- 22:22Speaker 2: being one of the best couple of years ago to
- 22:24Speaker 2: be in one of the worst. So it's a it's
- 22:27Speaker 2: unfortunate that we really started covering this team. You know,
- 22:30Speaker 2: we were like, Okay, the Flyers are going to be
- 22:33Speaker 2: walking through the desert. The Union seem like they are,
- 22:36Speaker 2: you know, gonna be doing some good stuff. Let's start
- 22:38Speaker 2: covering this team.
- 22:39Speaker 5: And then.
- 22:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean kind of when you look at it,
- 22:47Speaker 4: kind of a weird season because I'm looking at some
- 22:50Speaker 4: stats now on a Football Reference FB well you know
- 22:58Speaker 4: whatever the football or there were sports reference pages for
- 23:01Speaker 4: soccer ball, Yes, there you go. So I'm looking at
- 23:05Speaker 4: the at the Eastern Conference standings and stats and things
- 23:09Speaker 4: of that nature. So there's fifteen teams in the Eastern Conference,
- 23:13Speaker 4: of which the Union is part of the you're looking
- 23:17Speaker 4: at goal differential the top. Let's see seven teams in
- 23:21Speaker 4: the East all posted a positive goal differential. So spots
- 23:25Speaker 4: eight through fifteen. All of them had a negative goal
- 23:29Speaker 4: differential except for one team. That would be the Philadelphia
- 23:33Speaker 4: Union Golf Place sixty two goals for fifty five goals against,
- 23:39Speaker 4: so plus seven goal differential. It's just weird to me
- 23:43Speaker 4: that as you know, a disappointing a season as they had,
- 23:47Speaker 4: you know, and bad season record wise, you know, you
- 23:50Speaker 4: had nine wins, ten draws and fifteen losses.
- 23:55Speaker 3: Just the fact that that, you know, and we.
- 23:57Speaker 4: Talked about the defense and yeah, it wasn't as strong
- 24:01Speaker 4: as it's been in previous years, but it's just an
- 24:04Speaker 4: odd stat that, you know, in all of the negative
- 24:07Speaker 4: stuff that we've seen, that that was a thing that's
- 24:10Speaker 4: just strange. They stick out like a sore thumb in
- 24:13Speaker 4: the standings when you look at that, like, you know,
- 24:16Speaker 4: I don't know, it's just something I thought was weird.
- 24:19Speaker 4: But you know, the the over our, overall, you know,
- 24:23Speaker 4: thing with this team is you know, you're going to
- 24:25Speaker 4: look at you know, when if you've listened to the
- 24:28Speaker 4: show over the past couple of months, you've heard us
- 24:30Speaker 4: talk about it again and again again like a broken record,
- 24:32Speaker 4: and it's going to be the ownership and it's going
- 24:33Speaker 4: to you know, you're you're looking at the salaries of
- 24:38Speaker 4: of MLS franchises and there's twenty nine of them and
- 24:41Speaker 4: the Union were twenty eighth in salary. So that manifests
- 24:45Speaker 4: itself in a couple of ways. Yeah, you got rid
- 24:47Speaker 4: of in the transfer market. You got rid of, you know,
- 24:50Speaker 4: a couple key players this year, like huge parts of
- 24:54Speaker 4: the team, you know, in Julian Carnza and Martinez, Jose Martinez,
- 25:00Speaker 4: and you're not really replacing them with anybody that you
- 25:03Speaker 4: know moves the needle. And you especially saw that, you
- 25:08Speaker 4: know when and this isn't you know, a Union thing.
- 25:11Speaker 4: It's not like, oh, injuries and they you really saw
- 25:15Speaker 4: it when you know, these teams had their players disappeared
- 25:20Speaker 4: to go play a national team for national teams in
- 25:22Speaker 4: those tournaments. Every single team deals with that. Every single
- 25:25Speaker 4: team has guys from their club go and play for
- 25:29Speaker 4: their national team in tournaments.
- 25:31Speaker 3: But for whatever reason, it really stung the Union.
- 25:35Speaker 4: And that tells me, Okay, when your top guys are out,
- 25:38Speaker 4: you've got no depth whatsoever, and they don't. And that
- 25:42Speaker 4: is really where things really started to go south for
- 25:45Speaker 4: this team. Is you know, when you when you had
- 25:48Speaker 4: you know, Andrea Blake gone for a while, and you
- 25:51Speaker 4: have you know, Semla in there in goal, and he
- 25:54Speaker 4: really wasn't the answer. And you have a lot of
- 25:58Speaker 4: these guys gone and you're you're just not winning games
- 26:02Speaker 4: because you're not you know, you just don't have the depth,
- 26:06Speaker 4: you don't have the talent. So that's something that you know,
- 26:10Speaker 4: you see the players that are leaving and you see
- 26:12Speaker 4: the players that are coming in, and you're just like,
- 26:15Speaker 4: this is this is super underwhelming.
- 26:17Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, I'm looking at.
- 26:19Speaker 4: The at the transfers for twenty twenty four now and
- 26:22Speaker 4: there's some big names that left, and then you look
- 26:23Speaker 4: at the people that came in and you're just like,
- 26:27Speaker 4: not one of these guys that they brought in really
- 26:31Speaker 4: moved the needle at all. I mean, the biggest needle
- 26:33Speaker 4: mover was the guy that they brought in in last
- 26:36Speaker 4: year twenty twenty three in tyber Ebo, and that the
- 26:38Speaker 4: guy that you know, to me, is the name to
- 26:41Speaker 4: look look at going forward for this team, you know,
- 26:45Speaker 4: in terms of a guy that's going to provide a
- 26:47Speaker 4: scoring punch because right now, I mean, nobody else really
- 26:52Speaker 4: is doing that on a consistent basis. I mean, I know,
- 26:55Speaker 4: Gyz dog led the team and goals, But you know,
- 26:59Speaker 4: I don't know it would surprise me if he does
- 27:02Speaker 4: so again next year.
- 27:03Speaker 3: I think it's gonna be bribo.
- 27:05Speaker 2: You're absolutely correct in terms of the one thing they
- 27:09Speaker 2: need to do is acquire legitimate depth, you know, for
- 27:12Speaker 2: these inevitable injuries scheduling issues that certainly certainly make life
- 27:16Speaker 2: difficult for guys that are going overseas. But I also
- 27:20Speaker 2: wonder Tulan in the off season. We can certainly probably
- 27:23Speaker 2: talk about it more as we're moving along with some
- 27:27Speaker 2: of these Union storylines, But is it time to ditch
- 27:30Speaker 2: the four four to two diamond? You know, I wonder
- 27:32Speaker 2: if it is. It's been the Union's unique calling card
- 27:35Speaker 2: ever since Ernst Tanner arrived, But the central middlefield positions
- 27:40Speaker 2: put too much demand on their young offensive players with
- 27:45Speaker 2: Quinn Sullivan and Jack McGlenn, they can't handle the defensive
- 27:48Speaker 2: demands of the formation. So I don't know. Maybe this
- 27:52Speaker 2: formation is a topic for another time down down the road.
- 27:55Speaker 2: And even as I've been getting into soccer trying to
- 27:57Speaker 2: understand it a little bit more. But from my understanding
- 28:02Speaker 2: of what this four four two diamond is, I don't
- 28:06Speaker 2: know if the Union should be running this in the future.
- 28:10Speaker 2: It's the calling card.
- 28:11Speaker 4: It depends does Jim Carton come back here? You go
- 28:14Speaker 4: make a change in the manager position, right because that really,
- 28:17Speaker 4: I mean, you know, that's going to determine a whole
- 28:20Speaker 4: hell a lot in terms of, you know, you know,
- 28:23Speaker 4: what formation they're playing in going forward. So there's a
- 28:26Speaker 4: lot of questions for this team that have to be
- 28:28Speaker 4: answered in terms of what they want to do going forward,
- 28:31Speaker 4: the direction they want to do. Do they still want
- 28:34Speaker 4: to just continue to bank money and depend on kids
- 28:38Speaker 4: or do they actually want to spend and try and
- 28:41Speaker 4: do something, And do they want to bring in a
- 28:44Speaker 4: new manager? Is this a place that a manager would
- 28:48Speaker 4: want to go to? You know, is it an attractive destination?
- 28:50Speaker 4: Because right now, I don't know that I can say
- 28:53Speaker 4: that it is. So you know, and you know, if
- 28:56Speaker 4: you go into a situation knowing that you know, your
- 29:00Speaker 4: ownership isn't really gonna spend money, then you know it's
- 29:04Speaker 4: gonna make your job a lot harder. And if you're
- 29:07Speaker 4: a guy that has options in terms of you know,
- 29:10Speaker 4: coaching positions, chances are the Union are going to be
- 29:14Speaker 4: down towards the bottom of that exactly.
- 29:16Speaker 2: You know, look from a depth perspective, like we're talking
- 29:19Speaker 2: about the homegrown stories are really nice, but if these
- 29:24Speaker 2: guys want to really compete for a Cup, if this
- 29:26Speaker 2: organization wants compete for a Cup, you need to have
- 29:28Speaker 2: some true experienced depth. It's critical, you know, this coming
- 29:32Speaker 2: off season, and who knows, maybe they will surprise us,
- 29:34Speaker 2: maybe they will go out and invest in some really
- 29:38Speaker 2: experienced depth and maybe maybe they do fire curtain. Maybe
- 29:41Speaker 2: they do get a coach that's able to take that
- 29:43Speaker 2: depth and get it to a different, different place within
- 29:46Speaker 2: the Eastern Conference.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Who knows.
- 29:47Speaker 2: I mean, it's pie in the sky thinking I think Glenn,
- 29:50Speaker 2: but who knows it could happen.
- 29:52Speaker 4: And the academy stuff is great, don't get me wrong,
- 29:55Speaker 4: but you know, when you know the Irons and Boys
- 29:57Speaker 4: are now playing in Europe and Mark McKenzie's in Europe
- 30:00Speaker 4: and Cavin Sullivan, you know, maybe we'll get a couple
- 30:03Speaker 4: of years out of him before he goes off to
- 30:05Speaker 4: the Premier League. You know that that academy is great,
- 30:08Speaker 4: but you know, and you know, these these kids should
- 30:13Speaker 4: want to go to Europe because those that's where the
- 30:15Speaker 4: top leagues are so onward and upward.
- 30:17Speaker 3: That's where they want to be in their careers.
- 30:18Speaker 4: But you know, if they're only going to leave, you know,
- 30:22Speaker 4: I don't know if they're leaving anyway.
- 30:24Speaker 3: It's just I don't know. It's hard to you know,
- 30:27Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 30:28Speaker 4: It's hard to get excited about people that you know
- 30:31Speaker 4: are going to be going out the door in a
- 30:32Speaker 4: couple of years when you know, Okay, who's coming in though,
- 30:35Speaker 4: Who actually wants to be here? Who is this place
- 30:39Speaker 4: a destination for and wants to be here for a
- 30:41Speaker 4: couple of years. And maybe it's guys that are on
- 30:44Speaker 4: the back end of their careers that were in Europe.
- 30:46Speaker 4: You know, there's still that knock on the mlso is
- 30:49Speaker 4: at a retirement league, you know, But hey, get some
- 30:53Speaker 4: of those guys because the other teams are so why aren't.
- 30:56Speaker 2: You become a copycat, you know, just because you gotta
- 31:00Speaker 2: start copying some.
- 31:00Speaker 3: Other teams get talent. Yeah, I mean, it's not a
- 31:06Speaker 3: it's not complicated.
- 31:07Speaker 2: It's not complex exactly. We're a bunch of dopes talking
- 31:10Speaker 2: about it here on a stupid podcast.
- 31:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:12Speaker 4: I am, by no stretch of the imagination a soccer
- 31:15Speaker 4: expert here, But yeah, get get talent.
- 31:18Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, just real quick. Quinn Sullivan agreed to a
- 31:22Speaker 2: new deal as the off season you know has started.
- 31:26Speaker 2: Twenty years old, is just one of two Union players
- 31:29Speaker 2: to appear in all thirty four matches this past season.
- 31:33Speaker 2: So I just wanted to throw that out there when
- 31:36Speaker 2: young kid that.
- 31:37Speaker 4: Is you know, a good you know, yeah, a good
- 31:40Speaker 4: signing guy that you know you'd like to see at
- 31:42Speaker 4: the club for a while.
- 31:43Speaker 3: So so that I will applaud that, But you know,
- 31:46Speaker 3: it's gotta be more than that.
- 31:47Speaker 2: Right right, all right, buddy, I'm gonna let you go here.
- 31:50Speaker 2: Why don't you get you know, you get some sleep.
- 31:52Speaker 2: You gotta wake up in a few hours here right
- 31:54Speaker 2: for work? Oh boy, we got to get you another job. Yeah.
- 31:59Speaker 4: Well, I have vacation coming up this week, so that's
- 32:03Speaker 4: gonna be a big part of it.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Nice. All right, Well, buddy, I'm gonna let you go.
- 32:07Speaker 2: Folks, we're gonna take a break, and when we come back,

- 33:06Speaker 1: Yes, exactly, I love it. I love it.
- 33:08Speaker 2: Look, you're doing a lot of great stuff, you know,
- 33:10Speaker 2: before we hit the record button, just to pull back
- 33:11Speaker 2: the curt and folks, I mean, Chris is doing halftime
- 33:15Speaker 2: in postgame shows as well.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Listen.
- 33:17Speaker 2: If you're gonna do the postgame shows, you can listen
- 33:19Speaker 2: to our postgame show and you can listen to Chris's
- 33:21Speaker 2: postgame show. They're also doing.
- 33:23Speaker 1: College football shows as well.
- 33:26Speaker 2: You've got your hands in so much, buddy, and it's
- 33:28Speaker 2: good to see because you do good work.
- 33:30Speaker 5: I appreciate that, man. Thanks for having me on.
- 33:33Speaker 1: You got it, You got it.
- 33:33Speaker 2: Well, let's get into this Eagles team and what we
- 33:35Speaker 2: have been seeing this season, and like I said, what
- 33:38Speaker 2: may be happening down the road, because you know, a
- 33:40Speaker 2: lot of us have been wanting to see one jail
- 33:43Speaker 2: and Hurts really utilize the middle of the field. Right
- 33:45Speaker 2: It's been an ongoing storyline during this entire season. He's
- 33:49Speaker 2: only thrown to the outside hashes, He's not utilizing the
- 33:52Speaker 2: middle of the field, and he actually threw some passes
- 33:55Speaker 2: deemed to be you know, quote middle of the field
- 33:57Speaker 2: this past week during the game against the Bengals, and
- 34:00Speaker 2: last week on our show, Deems, we talked about the
- 34:02Speaker 2: fact that, you know, we're probably just going to have
- 34:05Speaker 2: to deal with the fact that Jalen Hurts prefers throwing
- 34:07Speaker 2: to the outside of the field and the fact that
- 34:09Speaker 2: he holds onto the ball a little bit too long.
- 34:11Speaker 1: I don't know if these things are necessarily going to change.
- 34:13Speaker 2: I'm wondering have you kind of come to this realization
- 34:15Speaker 2: as well, and should we be holding out any hope
- 34:18Speaker 2: that things may change for him the way that he
- 34:21Speaker 2: plays at this point in his career, and given what
- 34:23Speaker 2: he has been doing with this team and for this
- 34:26Speaker 2: team this season.
- 34:26Speaker 1: What are your thoughts here?
- 34:27Speaker 6: Yeah, I've been critical on Jalen Hurts when it's been necessary,
- 34:31Speaker 6: But I feel like there's a narrative, mainly by social
- 34:35Speaker 6: media that you know, is a little unfair when it
- 34:39Speaker 6: comes to Jalen Hurts. I agree, Jalen Hurts has his
- 34:42Speaker 6: comfort zones, you know, those fifty to fifty balls down
- 34:45Speaker 6: the sideline to AJ Brown. But there are elements of
- 34:50Speaker 6: this Eagles offense that I think are starting to evolve
- 34:54Speaker 6: and I think there are real signs of optimism going forward. Yeah,
- 34:58Speaker 6: you look back to to Kellen Moore's offense back in
- 35:02Speaker 6: previous systems, the you know, playing under center and the pistol,
- 35:08Speaker 6: those were major staples of his offense. And if you
- 35:12Speaker 6: look at, you know, the NFL offense, the best way
- 35:15Speaker 6: to open up the middle of the field is by
- 35:18Speaker 6: running under center right, you know, and with the play
- 35:21Speaker 6: action and things are things like that that is not
- 35:24Speaker 6: in Jalen Hurts his comfort zone. It's not something we
- 35:28Speaker 6: all talked about this heading into this season. It's not
- 35:30Speaker 6: something he's done previously, and we are seeing things ramp
- 35:35Speaker 6: up big time.
- 35:36Speaker 5: Yes, And you look at the Eagles.
- 35:39Speaker 6: This is a team that's run under center more times
- 35:42Speaker 6: the last two weeks than the first five weeks combined.
- 35:45Speaker 5: They did it.
- 35:46Speaker 6: They did it seven times against the Browns, thirteen against
- 35:49Speaker 6: the Giants, twenty one times against the Bengals, and I
- 35:53Speaker 6: don't think it's any surprise that hurts his EPA per
- 35:57Speaker 6: play ninety eighth percentile of quarterback performances last week was
- 36:01Speaker 6: the highest mark of his career. He was also five
- 36:04Speaker 6: of six for one hundred and fourteen yards and a
- 36:06Speaker 6: touchdown in play action, So you know, I think there's
- 36:10Speaker 6: a reason. Yeah, the opponents have not been up to
- 36:14Speaker 6: elite competition, right, but this is also an offense since
- 36:18Speaker 6: the bye week that's fourth best in EPA per drop back.
- 36:20Speaker 6: So I think it's not happened overnight. I think we've
- 36:23Speaker 6: been kind of wanting the Eagles to come out the gate,
- 36:27Speaker 6: you know, looking like the best in the business in
- 36:29Speaker 6: terms of an offensive standpoint. But I think there are
- 36:33Speaker 6: real reasons to be excited about this team utilizing more
- 36:37Speaker 6: of the middle of the field, especially from recent weeks.
- 36:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 36:41Speaker 2: Absolutely, And look, another exciting part of this Eagles OFFENSEI
- 36:44Speaker 2: of course, is the fact that you know, Saquon Barkley.
- 36:47Speaker 2: It's been an incredible presence on this field and off
- 36:51Speaker 2: the field as well for.
- 36:52Speaker 1: This Eagles team.
- 36:53Speaker 2: I mean, he's been a dominant running back this season,
- 36:56Speaker 2: and it really goes to show the change in philosophy
- 36:59Speaker 2: the Eagles have really had on offense. They're now essentially
- 37:02Speaker 2: a run first offense, which is fine in my book
- 37:05Speaker 2: with the talent that they have on the offensive line.
- 37:08Speaker 2: Yet they have wide receiver talent like AJ Brown and
- 37:11Speaker 2: Devonte Smith. So I guess where I'm going with this
- 37:14Speaker 2: part of the conversation here, Deeves is do you think
- 37:17Speaker 2: the offensive scheming has done a good job of really
- 37:20Speaker 2: balancing out what this team is from what we as
- 37:24Speaker 2: fans kind of hope to see week to week in
- 37:28Speaker 2: terms of moving the ball through the air and down
- 37:30Speaker 2: the field, basically the ground game versus the passing game.
- 37:32Speaker 2: Do you think the offensive scheming has done a good
- 37:34Speaker 2: job of kind of balancing this out.
- 37:37Speaker 6: Yeah, it's been day and night since the bye week,
- 37:39Speaker 6: Yes it has. I do think Kellen Moore and Nick
- 37:43Speaker 6: Sirianni naturally want to be a pass first team. They
- 37:46Speaker 6: want to an explosive team that gets big games down
- 37:51Speaker 6: the sideline and things like that. But I think that
- 37:55Speaker 6: goal has always been wrong, you know. I think the
- 37:57Speaker 6: goal of the Eagles should always been to become an
- 38:01Speaker 6: efficient offense, one that dominates time of possession, one that
- 38:05Speaker 6: gets the ball out fast, incorporates mesh on a consistent basis,
- 38:10Speaker 6: gets guys like Davante Smith into open space, and to
- 38:14Speaker 6: their credit, like you said, like we've seen some big changes.
- 38:17Speaker 6: The Eagles offense is now second best in the NFL
- 38:19Speaker 6: and rush epa per play, you know. And I love
- 38:23Speaker 6: Aj Brown, I love Devonte Smith, but you know, they're
- 38:27Speaker 6: they're amazing. But I think the strengths, the core of
- 38:30Speaker 6: this team is being a dominant run team, you know.
- 38:34Speaker 6: So I think a big reason of their recent success
- 38:39Speaker 6: has been utilizing more Jalen Hurts as a you know,
- 38:46Speaker 6: in the run game.
- 38:46Speaker 5: I'm trying to figure out how.
- 38:47Speaker 6: To say it, like deliberately, like he is running with
- 38:51Speaker 6: a purpose now where he has those design runs. You
- 38:55Speaker 6: could go back the last two weeks and in some
- 38:58Speaker 6: of their more explosive plays on the brown and you
- 39:01Speaker 6: can see like teams defenses are really respecting versus legs
- 39:06Speaker 6: where you know they will do an r P O
- 39:10Speaker 6: and that linebacker hesitating for one second half a second
- 39:15Speaker 6: has meant dividends for Saquon Barkley to get to the
- 39:18Speaker 6: edge where you know, trucks a Giant and or Bengal
- 39:23Speaker 6: a Bengal player and then jumps over a cameraman. That
- 39:27Speaker 6: was freaking awesome. But like also seeing I think, just
- 39:32Speaker 6: like the passing offense, more running concepts. You know, we're
- 39:36Speaker 6: seeing more outside zone, We're seeing again more pistol, We're
- 39:39Speaker 6: seeing Ben van Suberan as a fullback. The one explosive
- 39:42Speaker 6: play where they just ranted up the gut lead half
- 39:46Speaker 6: back lead with Ben Van Suberan in front of Saquon Barkley.
- 39:49Speaker 6: When's the last time we saw the Eagles do something
- 39:51Speaker 6: like that? And that's impressive that they're starting to kind
- 39:55Speaker 6: of open up the playbook. So I think there's reason
- 39:59Speaker 6: to be excited about the Eagles run game going forward,
- 40:02Speaker 6: using the efficient short game run or pass to set
- 40:05Speaker 6: up explosive plays that should be the bread and butter
- 40:08Speaker 6: of the Eagles offense. Concepts like mesh concepts like the
- 40:12Speaker 6: should be the staple of the Eagles offense, not just
- 40:15Speaker 6: concepts better used on second, third, and fourth quarters, which
- 40:19Speaker 6: is why I think this team has struggled to get
- 40:21Speaker 6: into rhythm. So for me, it's it's really exciting to
- 40:25Speaker 6: see Squin. How amazing has he been like he is,
- 40:30Speaker 6: without a doubt, the MVP in my opinion for the
- 40:34Speaker 6: Eagles offense. Oh yeah, he's on pace to what break
- 40:37Speaker 6: like break out like eighteen hundred plus.
- 40:41Speaker 5: That's insane.
- 40:42Speaker 6: He's a fun player to watch and just the gravity
- 40:44Speaker 6: he holds. He's nasty, man, that dude, physical nasty. I
- 40:50Speaker 6: don't know what the giants were thinking.
- 40:52Speaker 2: I don't know what they were thinking either, but I
- 40:53Speaker 2: tell you, when you start mentioning mesh concepts, I get
- 40:56Speaker 2: a like tingly I really do with the with the these
- 41:00Speaker 2: receivers running mesh concepts is amazing to watch it. Whenever
- 41:04Speaker 2: I see it on the I'm like, oh my gosh,
- 41:06Speaker 2: they're running a mesh concept.
- 41:07Speaker 1: I love it.
- 41:08Speaker 6: If you look at when this Eagles offense is at
- 41:11Speaker 6: its most efficient and effective, yep, when Jalen Hurts' average
- 41:16Speaker 6: depth of target is less when they're not throwing those
- 41:20Speaker 6: fifty to fifty balls when they're running mesh Like that's why,
- 41:24Speaker 6: Like there's been this narrative that he can't that Jalen
- 41:27Speaker 6: Hurst can't do it. He can do it. When they've
- 41:29Speaker 6: done it, they've been extremely effective, like eight yards per play,
- 41:33Speaker 6: yes on center and things like that. With whatever it's working,
- 41:38Speaker 6: we just need to see it across four quarters.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Absolutely well.
- 41:41Speaker 2: I got to say there was one part of the
- 41:42Speaker 2: offense though, that I'm very perplexed about, and it is
- 41:46Speaker 2: one wide receiver in Johan Dotson and that trade at
- 41:51Speaker 2: this point, what it means to the team for the future,
- 41:54Speaker 2: the fact that he's ranked one hundred and twentieth out
- 41:57Speaker 2: of one hundred and twenty wide receivers in yards per
- 41:59Speaker 2: round's run. I mean, it really is baffling at this
- 42:03Speaker 2: point that he's just not being utilized in this offense.
- 42:06Speaker 2: Why do you think the Eagles decided to give up
- 42:08Speaker 2: all these draft picks and the capitol for Dots and
- 42:11Speaker 2: if they're not going to integrate them into the game
- 42:14Speaker 2: day plans. I mean, he's being targeted one time per game, Like,
- 42:18Speaker 2: why do you think the Eagles did this? Is it Dotson?
- 42:20Speaker 2: Is it Kellen Moore, Nick Sirianni, what are your thoughts?
- 42:24Speaker 6: Yeah, this is mostly going to be a positive show.
- 42:27Speaker 6: I don't have much for you on this one. Man,
- 42:30Speaker 6: there's just too many mouths to feed. Yeah, the trade
- 42:33Speaker 6: does not look good to be honest, Like, I would
- 42:37Speaker 6: rather do the checkdown to Saquan before going to Johan Dotson.
- 42:41Speaker 6: I mean, on paper, he looked like a great fit
- 42:43Speaker 6: for Kellen Moore's offense. He's a good route runner, he
- 42:45Speaker 6: can work in the slot, he can run those orbit motions,
- 42:48Speaker 6: he can stretch defenses horizontally, which I know Kellen Moore
- 42:52Speaker 6: wants to do. In fact, Like, call me crazy, but
- 42:55Speaker 6: I'd rather use Ben Van Sumer in this offense, get
- 42:58Speaker 6: him in flat and things like that over Jahan Dotson.
- 43:02Speaker 6: And that is definitely, at least right now, looks like
- 43:06Speaker 6: one of the major misses for Howie Roseman.
- 43:07Speaker 2: It absolutely does. It's not like I don't look I
- 43:10Speaker 2: am a Penn State guy. I'm a Penn State guy.
- 43:13Speaker 2: I saw Jahan Dotson the routes that he ran. He
- 43:16Speaker 2: can run really good. This is a kid that can
- 43:19Speaker 2: get open. Still, I believe in the NFL they're just
- 43:22Speaker 2: not utilizing them they're just not utilize even on those
- 43:24Speaker 2: mesh concept rounds we were talking about.
- 43:26Speaker 1: It really is amazing to me.
- 43:28Speaker 6: But I mean, there is signs that we could see
- 43:31Speaker 6: more of him. I do think there is that, Like
- 43:34Speaker 6: the more this Kellimore playbooks is opening up, there's definitely
- 43:38Speaker 6: potential that we'll see him more utilized in motion because
- 43:42Speaker 6: I think the Eagles motion rates are also going up.
- 43:45Speaker 2: Yeah, they have been the past couple weeks for sure. Well,
- 43:48Speaker 2: let's flip the let's flip the switch here. Talk about
- 43:51Speaker 2: this Eagles defense. They've done a complete turnaround, as we
- 43:54Speaker 2: all know, since the bye week. Since Week six, they're
- 43:57Speaker 2: points per game average that they're given up only twelve
- 44:00Speaker 2: points per game, which is first in the NFL. They
- 44:03Speaker 2: have fourteen sacks since Week six, which is also first
- 44:06Speaker 2: in the NFL. Yards per play average they're allowing three
- 44:10Speaker 2: point nine, also first in the NFL. The yards per
- 44:13Speaker 2: game is at two hundred and fourteen point three, which
- 44:17Speaker 2: is second in the NFL deeps. I mean, do you
- 44:20Speaker 2: think we should be giving Vic Fangio some more credit
- 44:22Speaker 2: at this point in the season, and is this defense
- 44:25Speaker 2: really a defense to that we could other teams should
- 44:28Speaker 2: be you know, reckoned with you know, down the stretch here,
- 44:31Speaker 2: what are you thinking?
- 44:32Speaker 6: Yeah, I think we're finally seeing Vic Fangio run more
- 44:37Speaker 6: of his style of defense. And what I mean by
- 44:40Speaker 6: that is we're seeing a lot less Cover three.
- 44:43Speaker 5: You're seeing a lot more.
- 44:44Speaker 6: Too high safety looks and major shoutouts to Vic Fangio.
- 44:49Speaker 6: And I'll this won't be the first time I said
- 44:52Speaker 6: it on this show. I'm not a fan of the
- 44:54Speaker 6: bend and don't break defense. I've never I always was
- 44:58Speaker 6: mentally physical, psychologically prepared to come to this battle this
- 45:04Speaker 6: season because.
- 45:05Speaker 5: I don't like that defense.
- 45:06Speaker 6: Whoever, however, you got to give credit where credit is due.
- 45:10Speaker 6: We're seeing a major youth movement on this Eagles defense
- 45:14Speaker 6: across the board, and I think it's finally starting to
- 45:17Speaker 6: pay dividends. Kober de Gene Quinil Mitchell have been a revelation. Yeah,
- 45:21Speaker 6: I think we're going to be looking at those two
- 45:23Speaker 6: draft picks years from now and saying, holy shit balls,
- 45:27Speaker 6: what a home run draft for the Birds. He's been
- 45:30Speaker 6: playing defensive backs closer to the lion of scrimmage and
- 45:34Speaker 6: it's really helped out the run defense. It's really helped
- 45:37Speaker 6: out those short passes and I think it's also really
- 45:40Speaker 6: helped out the overall discipline of this team. We're seeing
- 45:43Speaker 6: mistackles decrease across the board. Nolan Smith Smith has really
- 45:48Speaker 6: ramped it up lately, Naylan Carter doing Jalen Carter things,
- 45:52Speaker 6: and we're finally seeing Vic Fangio kind of utilize his
- 45:55Speaker 6: players to their strengths. And I mean that mostly evident
- 45:59Speaker 6: for the Kobe Dean and his recent impact on this defense.
- 46:03Speaker 6: Being a weapon playing downhill, getting after quarterbacks still sucks
- 46:08Speaker 6: in coverage, but they're hiding it better. And like you said, man,
- 46:13Speaker 6: you brought up the numbers. This is an Eagles run
- 46:15Speaker 6: defense that's third best in the league, third best run
- 46:19Speaker 6: stop win rate. Jordan Davis has the eighth best run
- 46:21Speaker 6: stop win rate among defensive tackles.
- 46:23Speaker 1: Thank you. I'm glad you mentioned him.
- 46:25Speaker 2: I'm glad you mentioned him because just a few weeks ago,
- 46:28Speaker 2: even before the bye week, boy, we saw it on
- 46:30Speaker 2: the Twitter slash x that he's a bust. I can't
- 46:34Speaker 2: believe they drafted him. I saw way too much of
- 46:37Speaker 2: that for people to start calling calling Jordan a bust.
- 46:41Speaker 1: Nothing, no way exactly.
- 46:43Speaker 6: That's I mean, he's a good player what I have
- 46:46Speaker 6: on a different route. Absolutely, I was a Pella Hamilton
- 46:50Speaker 6: at that time was my number one player.
- 46:51Speaker 5: Same here.
- 46:53Speaker 6: I'm a guy who covers the drafts every single week,
- 46:56Speaker 6: and he was my number one player on my big
- 46:58Speaker 6: board overall, not just for the Eagles at that pick.
- 47:03Speaker 6: And yeah, that's that's a whole lot of different, right,
- 47:06Speaker 6: He's always going to be a two down guy for me.
- 47:09Speaker 6: I still think he is a good player. I still
- 47:13Speaker 6: think he's a first round talent. But picking a three
- 47:17Speaker 6: a guy that's not going to play three downs at
- 47:19Speaker 6: that area, it's kind of a question mark for me.
- 47:22Speaker 5: It always was.
- 47:23Speaker 1: But it's great to see him doing what he's doing now.
- 47:25Speaker 1: It's great to see what he's doing now.
- 47:27Speaker 6: Yeah, he gets a lot of unfair criticism. For sure,
- 47:29Speaker 6: He's good at what he does.
- 47:30Speaker 1: Yeah. Absolutely.
- 47:31Speaker 2: All right, Well, I got a two part question for
- 47:33Speaker 2: you here as we're moving along, and we'll be finishing
- 47:36Speaker 2: up our discussion soon here. But this two part question
- 47:40Speaker 2: is about the biggest surprise and biggest disappointment so far
- 47:44Speaker 2: of this season, and it's it's interesting, this team is
- 47:47Speaker 2: five and two, but it seems like, you know, they've
- 47:49Speaker 2: really had to work for those five wins, just like
- 47:51Speaker 2: a lot of teams do in the NFL. So as
- 47:54Speaker 2: we have seen five wins, we've seen two losses. What
- 47:57Speaker 2: has been the biggest surprise on this Eagles team so
- 48:00Speaker 2: far for you Deems this season? What's that biggest surprise?
- 48:04Speaker 6: That's two part of a question, So I got three,
- 48:08Speaker 6: all right, I love it. Number one, Jalen Hurts has
- 48:13Speaker 6: been making major strides against the blitz. Yes, that is
- 48:18Speaker 6: an issue. In twenty twenty three. He's got a one
- 48:22Speaker 6: oh six point nine QB rating against the blitz this year.
- 48:25Speaker 6: That's the eighth best among his piers in the NFL.
- 48:28Speaker 2: That's going up a year after year with him too,
- 48:30Speaker 2: it's continuing to go up year after year. He's continuing
- 48:33Speaker 2: to develop.
- 48:34Speaker 6: Yeah, we're seeing that use of motion really help him
- 48:37Speaker 6: out in Kellen Moore's system. So really good to see
- 48:41Speaker 6: Jalen Hurts improve against the blitz and Jeff Stallin we trust.
- 48:45Speaker 6: I've been really impressed with the Eagles depth on the
- 48:48Speaker 6: offensive line. Fred Johnson does not skip to be I mean,
- 48:51Speaker 6: Jordan me a lot of Lane Johnson. Those are two
- 48:53Speaker 6: guys that are top of the top when it comes
- 48:54Speaker 6: to past block win ray to run block win rate,
- 48:57Speaker 6: all that stuff.
- 48:57Speaker 5: They're terrific.
- 48:59Speaker 6: But Fred Johnson comes in and shuts down Brian Burns,
- 49:03Speaker 6: then shuts down Trey Hendrickson. It's just incredible. And Tyler
- 49:08Speaker 6: Tyler Stein comes in has yet to give up a
- 49:11Speaker 6: sack this season. So just the overall depth of the
- 49:15Speaker 6: Eagles O line has been off the charts. And then
- 49:18Speaker 6: my other one that you know, we didn't really touch
- 49:21Speaker 6: on yet is Zach freaking Bond.
- 49:23Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 49:24Speaker 6: I don't know if there's enough positive things to be
- 49:26Speaker 6: said about Zach Bond. He's got sixty nine tackles, seven pressures,
- 49:30Speaker 6: two sacks, a forced fumble. This is a guy who
- 49:33Speaker 6: also accounts for zero point six percent of the Eagles
- 49:36Speaker 6: twenty twenty four salary cap. He was the highest graded
- 49:40Speaker 6: player for the Eagles, last highest graded linebacker for the
- 49:44Speaker 6: NFL in Week eight, which is an insane process. It
- 49:48Speaker 6: is he has an Eagles fan and you look at
- 49:51Speaker 6: this guy. He's led the team in tackles in three games.
- 49:54Speaker 6: He's right among the top two tacklers and three others.
- 49:58Speaker 6: And this is a guy who's never played inside backer
- 50:01Speaker 6: before this season, and he looks like one of the biggest,
- 50:03Speaker 6: Like you talk about Johan Dotson as major as a
- 50:06Speaker 6: major miss, Zach Bond looks like one of the biggest
- 50:09Speaker 6: home runs of last offseason.
- 50:11Speaker 2: Absolutely absolute. I'm so glad you brought him up. I mean,
- 50:14Speaker 2: he's like a top five, top ten linebacker in the
- 50:17Speaker 2: NFL here at this point, it's amazing.
- 50:19Speaker 5: Yeah, he's awesome.
- 50:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 50:20Speaker 2: Well, what on the flip side of that, what has
- 50:22Speaker 2: been the biggest disappointment so far this season for you?
- 50:26Speaker 2: I mean, aside for I mean for me. At the
- 50:28Speaker 2: beginning of the season, it was the amount of sacks
- 50:30Speaker 2: or the lack thereof. Now we know what the amount
- 50:33Speaker 2: of sacks of the past, you know, since the bye week,
- 50:35Speaker 2: as I mentioned, fourteen sacks since Week six. But you know,
- 50:39Speaker 2: what's your biggest disappointment so far this season in terms
- 50:41Speaker 2: of this team?
- 50:43Speaker 6: I think the guy that has given me the most frustration,
- 50:46Speaker 6: the most anxiety, And it's not a player.
- 50:49Speaker 5: I'm gonna go Nick Siriani.
- 50:50Speaker 2: Okay, we're gonna get to him in just a bit,
- 50:53Speaker 2: but okay, yeah, go ahead.
- 50:55Speaker 6: You know, he's over the last two weeks has kind
- 50:57Speaker 6: of stayed out of his own way, which is nice.
- 51:00Speaker 6: I think the bar is pretty low when all Nick
- 51:04Speaker 6: Sirianni needs to do is, at least on a weekly basis, is,
- 51:08Speaker 6: don't be the story. Don't make team worse. Ideally, you
- 51:11Speaker 6: want your head coach to be a guy that's, you know,
- 51:14Speaker 6: playing chess when everyone's playing checkers. He want him to
- 51:17Speaker 6: be a guy that gives a team an edge. The
- 51:20Speaker 6: fact that his standard is at the bottom of the
- 51:22Speaker 6: barrel simply don't mess things up that you know that
- 51:26Speaker 6: that's a concern, but I'll be honest, Like from a
- 51:29Speaker 6: culture perspective, from a vibes perspective, he seems to be
- 51:32Speaker 6: hitting all the right buttons.
- 51:34Speaker 5: At least these last few weeks.
- 51:36Speaker 6: There's at least from the Bengals game, the Eagles seem
- 51:39Speaker 6: to have kind of gotten their confidence and swagger back.
- 51:42Speaker 6: There's some good vibes going on right now. Maybe his
- 51:45Speaker 6: surprise buzz cut was the turning point.
- 51:47Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 51:47Speaker 6: I've never been a Nick guy. I would have fired
- 51:50Speaker 6: him last offseason. But yeah, it's been up and down.
- 51:55Speaker 2: It's interesting you mentioned Sirianni because he's actually my last
- 51:59Speaker 2: top here for us, and the fact that this team
- 52:03Speaker 2: is five and two heading into a game against the Jaguars,
- 52:06Speaker 2: which they should win. They're competitive here in the NFC
- 52:09Speaker 2: East and the NFC overall deeps. And I read a
- 52:13Speaker 2: recent stat that said, you know, quote the most wins
- 52:16Speaker 2: in the first four seasons as a head coach, Andy
- 52:19Speaker 2: Reid thirty nine, Nick Sirianni thirty nine. So I asked
- 52:24Speaker 2: about Vic Fangio before, and I'll ask it about Nick
- 52:27Speaker 2: Sirianni here, like, should we really be given him more credit?
- 52:31Speaker 2: Should we be giving this head coach more credit at
- 52:33Speaker 2: this particular stage in the season, given the trials and
- 52:36Speaker 2: tribulations he's been through, the fan base, how he's been
- 52:39Speaker 2: dealing with the media, the culture stuff. What are your thoughts,
- 52:42Speaker 2: your deeps.
- 52:43Speaker 6: It's a marathon, not a sprint. You gotta look at
- 52:47Speaker 6: the season in segments. It's been a pretty decent roller
- 52:52Speaker 6: coaster if you look at it recently. This is a
- 52:56Speaker 6: team that's starting to somewhat find an identity. Since the
- 52:59Speaker 6: bi week you said it, the Eagles are kind of
- 53:01Speaker 6: evolving into a run first offense that also has a
- 53:06Speaker 6: potent passing attack, which is really nice to see. They're
- 53:11Speaker 6: leading the league in rush attempts per game. They're averaging
- 53:15Speaker 6: the second most rushing yards per game. It's nice to
- 53:18Speaker 6: see kind of the Eagles make those adjustments since the
- 53:20Speaker 6: bye week, which is not something we've seen in years past.
- 53:24Speaker 6: Where remember last season where we all knew the Eagles
- 53:27Speaker 6: concerns their weaknesses, especially Jalen Hurts against the blitz and
- 53:32Speaker 6: the defense and things like that, and they never change.
- 53:35Speaker 6: They kind of stuck to their guns, you know, brought
- 53:38Speaker 6: in new coaches and that was just a straight up disaster.
- 53:41Speaker 6: But you even go to the defensive side, like the
- 53:44Speaker 6: narrative for Vic Fangio's defense was that an elite quarterback
- 53:49Speaker 6: will just get rid of the ball fast and carve
- 53:51Speaker 6: up you know those that you know the secondary and
- 53:56Speaker 6: Joe Burrow entered last week's game with the third best
- 53:59Speaker 6: passer rating. He had his second lowest mark this season
- 54:03Speaker 6: against Eagles with and eighty four point seven quarterback grating.
- 54:06Speaker 5: They held Jamar Chase.
- 54:07Speaker 6: To the second lowest receiving total this year, one week
- 54:10Speaker 6: after Mili Neighbors had his worst game of the year.
- 54:13Speaker 6: This is a d Eagles defense that has allowed just
- 54:15Speaker 6: two touchdowns over the last three games.
- 54:18Speaker 5: Combined.
- 54:19Speaker 6: Again, better competition awaits down the road, but vibes are
- 54:23Speaker 6: high and we should enjoy this right Like, yes, I
- 54:26Speaker 6: don't want to, I don't want to get too crazy.
- 54:29Speaker 6: But on the other end, like it is a roller coaster,
- 54:32Speaker 6: it's a marathon. Good vibes only right now, let's enjoy this.
- 54:37Speaker 6: You know things are going to change when they go
- 54:39Speaker 6: up against better teams, but at least for now, let's
- 54:44Speaker 6: enjoy this.
- 54:44Speaker 2: Absolutely love the positivity at the end of our discussion.
- 54:48Speaker 2: Here for sure. Again folks, talking to Chris Diebler. We
- 54:52Speaker 2: all know him as Debs at mister Crockpot on the
- 54:55Speaker 2: Twitter slash x party on broad Subscribe subscribe on YouTube
- 55:00Speaker 2: as well, and also check out Birds of the Roundtable
- 55:03Speaker 2: as well. Do great, great work, buddy. It was great
- 55:06Speaker 2: talking to you, seriously, always love having you on. And
- 55:09Speaker 2: let's talk again down the road. Let's talk more birds.
- 55:11Speaker 5: I'd love it anytime, man, go birds.
- 55:14Speaker 1: Always great talking to Deebs.
- 55:16Speaker 2: He's got so much common sense when it comes to
- 55:18Speaker 2: talking about the Philadelphia Eagles, really does. And like you said,
- 55:21Speaker 2: we got to be optimistic, folks. It's important. Let's enjoy
- 55:25Speaker 2: this right now. And again, you know this game against
- 55:27Speaker 2: the Jaguars, they should win this game. We know this
- 55:30Speaker 2: Jaguars team not performing well at all on both sides
- 55:34Speaker 2: of the ball, and Deeps actually did say something that
- 55:38Speaker 2: you know, I wanted to end our discussion with here
- 55:41Speaker 2: this week. The fact of the matter is after the
- 55:44Speaker 2: Jags game, the Eagles schedule does get more difficult. I mean,
- 55:47Speaker 2: that's the reality of the NFL. Sometimes you have some
- 55:49Speaker 2: quote easy games and sometimes you have some quote more
- 55:53Speaker 2: difficult games. Right after the Jags, the Eagles, they got
- 55:56Speaker 2: to travel down to Texas and they have to face
- 55:59Speaker 2: the Dallas cow Boys in the first divisional matchup between
- 56:02Speaker 2: these two teams. And we know how these games go.
- 56:05Speaker 2: And then after that they do come back home they
- 56:08Speaker 2: face the Washington Commanders. We know how the Commanders have
- 56:11Speaker 2: been performing, We know how Jayden Daniels has been performing.
- 56:14Speaker 2: We know what that offense looks like, and even what
- 56:16Speaker 2: the defense looks like. You know, they are formidable, especially
- 56:19Speaker 2: in the NFC East here. You know, we talked on
- 56:22Speaker 2: one of our previous shows about whether or not that
- 56:25Speaker 2: team could potentially be a quote fraud.
- 56:28Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 56:29Speaker 2: I don't know the Washington Commanders. I picked them to
- 56:31Speaker 2: go to the Wildcard before the season started. They're looking
- 56:34Speaker 2: very formidable. After that game, you've got the Los Angeles Rams. Look,
- 56:39Speaker 2: I know it's the Rams. You know, they haven't been
- 56:42Speaker 2: you know, storming the NFL by any stretch, but they're
- 56:46Speaker 2: getting healthier. They're getting healthier on offense, they're they're they're
- 56:49Speaker 2: they're making waves within the NFC. And then after that game,
- 56:53Speaker 2: you've got the Baltimore Ravens down in Baltimore. They are
- 56:58Speaker 2: certainly a force to be reckoned with. So at the
- 57:00Speaker 2: end of the day, folks, let's really enjoy what's happening
- 57:03Speaker 2: right now with this Philadelphia Eagles team. What Deems was
- 57:06Speaker 2: talking about with regard to Nacobe Dean, how he's developed,
- 57:10Speaker 2: Jalen Hurt, still developing, Zach Bonn, what he has given
- 57:14Speaker 2: this team as one of the top linebackers in the NFL.
- 57:17Speaker 2: Who could have seen that coming quite frankly, nobody did.
- 57:20Speaker 2: Nobody did at all. We also have Quinyaan Mitchell Cooper
- 57:24Speaker 2: de Jean, who we talked about last week on the
- 57:26Speaker 2: show being amazing draft hits by Howie Roseman, and it's
- 57:32Speaker 2: something again we got to keep in joining. So that's
- 57:34Speaker 2: gonna do it for us here this week. Make sure
