- 0:37Gunfighter Beerco. It's fall.
- 0:39He's got all the great fall since all the stuff is all
- 0:41natural. It's great and it's I think it's
- 0:44pretty good. Like personally, I use several,
- 0:46several bits of his stuff, but man, do we have an absolutely
- 0:53crazy time right now in the week in the world of college
- 0:58football. As it stands.
- 0:59It was a crazy weekend. Unfortunately, I didn't get to
- 1:01watch very much of it. I ended up actually going out
- 1:04for a a friend of a friend's birthday party.
- 1:09And so unfortunately, I wasn't able to see a lot of it, but I
- 1:11was able to catch a good chunk of it and a good few of the
- 1:14games. And I have, of course, my
- 1:17thoughts on LSU in the Kentucky thing, both with and against the
- 1:22refs. You know, full, full
- 1:24transparency. Obviously, it's a great day that
- 1:26Alabama lost full truly. And of course, obviously being
- 1:30here in Indy and I watched the Hoosiers and they really
- 1:33struggled against Nebraska almost that entire game.
- 1:36So let's dive into that. You know, first and foremost,
- 1:40defending national champions are tested probably in their best
- 1:44and worst way against Nebraska. And this is one of those it was
- 1:48it's two truths are hold the same weight at the same time for
- 1:53the same situation. And that's Indiana really tried
- 1:57to give them this game. And Nebraska's like this close
- 2:01man is Nebraska so close to truly being back and being
- 2:06relevant in college football once again.
- 2:09And that's something that's good for college football because of
- 2:11if you're an older college football fan, Nebraska was the
- 2:15team through like the 80s through the 90s.
- 2:17I mean, they were a powerhouse juggernaut of a program for the
- 2:22longest time. And they they seem to be on the
- 2:25up and up. They seem to be on the up and up
- 2:27this year. The schedule for them is not
- 2:31exactly the most forgiving, but it's also not the end of the
- 2:36world either. It is a little bit rough,
- 2:39especially towards the end, but they have two tough, two tough
- 2:43tests this month and they had two really tough tests in the
- 2:47month. But they could still potentially
- 2:50end maybe 8:00 and 4:00 at the worst if they win every other
- 2:54game that they're supposed to potentially win.
- 2:57But let's look at some of the some of the key stats and
- 2:59whatnot from from Saturday. You know, the total yards
- 3:05Nebraska had them beat, you know, pretty much dead to
- 3:07rights. They had them beat the running
- 3:09game passing wise, they were essentially the same. 3rd down
- 3:13is where they really made Indiana struggle.
- 3:16And I'll be fully transparent with you.
- 3:18It was like 17 to 6 with I think it was only about 10 or 8 to 10
- 3:24minutes left in the game. And I mean, they really forced
- 3:29IU to kind of dig down deep to end up pulling out this win.
- 3:33Like, it was it was one of those when I was first watching, it
- 3:35was like, oh, wow, Indiana really is about to be upset by
- 3:39Nebraska because they went up 17 to six.
- 3:41Yeah. And it was about 8 to 10 minutes
- 3:43left in the fourth quarter. Nebraska went down 75 yards, got
- 3:47a touchdown, went up 17 to 6. And then immediately Joshua
- 3:52throws a huge strike to Nick Marsh and immediately goes 75
- 3:57yards to the distance to bring it into within A1 score game.
- 4:01It was 13 to 17. And it just seemed like from
- 4:05that point forward, Indiana was like, OK, we we got this.
- 4:08We're going to do it now watching it, I didn't think that
- 4:10was going to be the case, but I I really thought it was going to
- 4:14happen. And I mean Coral Andrea looks
- 4:17solid now. I know statistically he didn't
- 4:21have like an eye popping or really wowing game.
- 4:24I still thought he was really good.
- 4:27I mean, 25 of 43, not super impressive, but he had 263
- 4:31passing yards, one pick, no touchdowns for him
- 4:35unfortunately. But I mean this, this Nebraska
- 4:39team really does feel close and they pushed Indiana to the
- 4:44absolute limit throughout this entire game.
- 4:47I mean it, it never felt like Indiana was in control
- 4:52throughout. It never felt like Indiana was
- 4:58in control at all throughout any of this.
- 5:01So this is 1 where as somebody who lives in Indiana, somebody
- 5:07who's around Indiana fans and I, and I have nothing against
- 5:09Indiana. I, I like the Hoosiers.
- 5:11I have a ton of Hoosiers here. I rock the Hoosiers.
- 5:14So I was living in DC because I didn't want people to think I
- 5:17was from DC. It, I mean, this is a, this is
- 5:21an absolutely like incredible kind of defeat for Nebraska
- 5:29because if I remember hearing the statistic right, they're
- 5:32like, oh, and 30, maybe 31 now against ranked teams.
- 5:37Like they haven't beat a big ranked team at all in the last
- 5:41like 10 years. And again, this is coming from
- 5:44like a true old school blue blood of college football.
- 5:49And they have fallen to the wayside that quickly and that
- 5:52hard. And it's kind of a shame to see,
- 5:55but man, are they close. And it, it's one of those I, I
- 5:57kind of hope Nebraska ends up being able to figure it out and
- 6:00they hopefully end up turning it around.
- 6:03Now, again, their schedule does not get much easier this coming
- 6:06week. They have to go to Oregon to
- 6:08face the Ducks. Now the advantage, Oregon
- 6:11doesn't look like Oregon. They'll potentially have to face
- 6:13their old quarterback, Dylan Rayola.
- 6:14There's a lot of question marks with that.
- 6:16He looked awful against UCLA. But we'll get to that here in a
- 6:18little bit. Then they host a Washington team
- 6:21on Halloween. So they get about a week break
- 6:23in between. So they have a little bit of a
- 6:26time to prepare, but they host a kind of a sad Washington team.
- 6:31Then they go to Illinois, they go to Rutgers.
- 6:34And then their final two games is what's really rough.
- 6:37They host Ohio State, which I don't think they'll necessarily
- 6:40get a big win in that one. Now, they could they could
- 6:42really shock the world and do it.
- 6:45I just, I highly doubt the likelihood of that.
- 6:49And then they finish the year going to Iowa, which is always
- 6:52an absolute just dog fight of a game.
- 6:55It's not going to be the prettiest game.
- 6:56It's not going to be the sexiest game, but it's going to be a
- 6:58game and they're going to absolutely fight for it.
- 7:01So that that will be 1 I say to keep your eye on, But but hats
- 7:05off to the court Huskers for for really, you know, sticking
- 7:08through this and and fighting through it as much as they
- 7:10could. One of the other games that was
- 7:13a little bit of a disappointment just because I feel like they
- 7:16fell into they kind of fell into their old selves.
- 7:22Texas falls to Oklahoma 27 to 24.
- 7:26The Sooners are able to win the Red River Rivalry against them
- 7:30after Sark had, you know, previously beat them the last
- 7:32two times. And it is kind of funny.
- 7:34They brought up the point that the underdog last two times this
- 7:38game has happened, whoever the underdog has been has ended up
- 7:41winning. And now that's three times in a
- 7:42row that's ended up being the case.
- 7:46And I do want to say with this too, because they Sark has
- 7:51brought it up and I feel like everybody has brought it up at
- 7:54some point or another because it's Arch, because there's a
- 7:59huge expectation with Arch because of his last name,
- 8:02because it's Manning. And I don't know if they expect
- 8:06perfection. I don't know if they expect him
- 8:09to, you know, just kind of pull stuff out and, you know, just be
- 8:13this incredibly crazy good quarterback.
- 8:16Like when when you look and you think of the Mannings, like,
- 8:19yes, they had phenomenal careers.
- 8:22Like they had big games, they did big things.
- 8:25Like they were some of the best quarterbacks coming out of
- 8:28college. You know, Peyton was very
- 8:29cerebral. He was a coach on the field.
- 8:31Like he was a number one pick for a reason.
- 8:34You know, Eli wasn't as cerebral, but he was the guy
- 8:38that was more of the backyard style football of I'm just going
- 8:41to sling it and I'm going to have fun while I do it.
- 8:44And I, I've said this before on the show, I feel like Arch is a,
- 8:48is a good mixture of a little bit of both.
- 8:51And I feel like he, he falls a little bit more in Eli's shoes
- 8:55than Peyton's 'cause there's nothing about Arch that says to
- 8:59me he's like truly cerebral. And it, it kind of sucks because
- 9:05again, with him having the last name of Manning like that
- 9:09pressure is just on him all the time like that.
- 9:13No matter what he does, whether he's good or not good, that
- 9:16pressure of him being a Manning is always there.
- 9:20Now, in his defense, he doesn't know anything different because
- 9:23he's always been a Manning. He's always had that stigma.
- 9:27He's always had that those expectations set forth for him
- 9:32that, hey, you are going to do this, This is how you're going
- 9:34to do it. And this is what we expect from
- 9:36you both, you know, family wise and, you know, sports wise.
- 9:40So for the fact that people are already writing off Arch is
- 9:46crazy. Now I will be completely honest
- 9:48and transparent. If anybody was to draft Arch
- 9:52right now, I think would be a mistake.
- 9:54I think it would be 1. He would absolutely need a
- 9:58couple of years to learn or he has to go to the exact right
- 10:03situation that would be well built for him, that would have a
- 10:07decent offensive line, decent weapons and well run
- 10:10organization. And truthfully, looking across
- 10:15the league right now as far as teams that need a quarterback,
- 10:19I, I don't see, I don't see any of these organizations being
- 10:25being in need that I'd be like, OK, yeah, this this would be a
- 10:29good place for him to go. And I think he would be set up.
- 10:31Well, it's not like Kansas City is ready to move off of the
- 10:34homes yet. Like, they've still got him for
- 10:36a long time. He's not going anywhere.
- 10:39They're very well ran both organizationally and by the
- 10:41coach. I mean, really, you can look at
- 10:46any of the other teams around the league.
- 10:49I mean, Cincinnati has their issues.
- 10:52They're not very well ran. They still have a franchise
- 10:55quarterback in Joe Burrow. Now who knows how long he wants
- 10:58to be there again, Buffalo has Josh Allen, they're probably not
- 11:02going to move off of him for hot minutes.
- 11:04And with Baltimore and Lamar, Chicago has Caleb Williams, but
- 11:08you know, and Mike Lovey to death.
- 11:10I don't know if you're watching this or not.
- 11:11Then he might he might see this whenever he makes clips for me a
- 11:15little bit later. But but it's not like
- 11:19historically Chicago has been well run as an organization.
- 11:23Minnesota maybe, but I mean, they're right now they're
- 11:29sitting at 5 and O, it's not like they're in the driver's
- 11:31seat to get a number one overall pick.
- 11:35And I mean really other than that, like maybe the Rams, like
- 11:40maybe, but again, are they going to do bad enough to be able to
- 11:43have a number one overall pick? But Oh yeah, they traded that to
- 11:46Cleveland. So now they don't.
- 11:48So now they don't even have that.
- 11:49So I mean, there's, there's not a, a lot of places that I feel
- 11:55are potentially quarterback needy or going to be quarterback
- 11:59needy that I would say, Oh yeah, he can go in there and he can
- 12:02have time to sit back, develop and learn and he's going to be
- 12:05in a great spot. I don't, I don't think that's
- 12:07going to be the case. Nothing against Perch himself.
- 12:09I, I think he's, I think the potential is still there for
- 12:13him. I just think people's
- 12:15expectations of him are, are what's truly crazy.
- 12:20Like honestly, that that's how I feel this game though, UCLA
- 12:24versus Oregon, out of all the games, this is probably the one
- 12:26I got to watch the absolute most of Saturday.
- 12:30The the Bruins beat the Ducks in Eugene 17 to 15.
- 12:37Oregon honestly reminds me so much of LSU, Clemson, and Penn
- 12:44State of last year. Like, they came in, they were
- 12:47the preseason #2 like, they were basically all but expected to
- 12:51make a deep playoff for him, potentially to be a national
- 12:54championship contender. And Oregon has completely fallen
- 12:58to the wayside. I mean, you know, the really
- 13:01close potential upset against Boise State, very lucky that
- 13:05ended up not going to the case. And it it was kind of one of
- 13:08those, it was a dual thing, OK Boise State's a lot better than
- 13:11what we thought they kind of have been the last few years and
- 13:14consistently have been, you know, Oregon maybe just a little
- 13:18bit rusty that they go down to Stillwater.
- 13:20They get absolutely smoked by Oklahoma State and it just seems
- 13:25to be like a down, you know, downward spiral ever since they,
- 13:29you know, kind of got a little bit of rejuvenation.
- 13:31They went down to USC and beat them.
- 13:33It seemed like Dylan Ryola just didn't skip a beat.
- 13:36But again, how much of that is US CS defence is pretty trash.
- 13:41And, you know, there was Oregon just able to capitalize on that
- 13:45moment and just capitalize on the fact that they're a, you
- 13:48know, conference opponent and the fact that they face them a
- 13:50lot even in the PAC 12. But I mean, Dylan Rayola just,
- 13:55he did not look good at all. I don't know what happened in
- 13:58between the USC and the UCLA game, to be honest with you.
- 14:02I mean, he was 6 of 19. He had two interceptions.
- 14:06I believe he was also responsible for a few of the
- 14:09fumbles. Oh, he was only responsible for
- 14:12one fumble. But man, turnover is absolutely
- 14:16horrible. They had 7 turnovers, 2
- 14:18interceptions both by Rayola and the rest were 5 fumbles.
- 14:23Evan Stewart, Dylan Riola, Jordan Davidson, Brock Thomas.
- 14:27The other quarterback ended up coming in and Coy Perich was
- 14:33able to recover. One upset fumbles that they also
- 14:37had but they lost, but they ended up having five.
- 14:41They lost 5. This was just a an ugly game
- 14:46overall and it is kind of funny whenever I looked at some of the
- 14:51stats and when you kind of watch how UCLA does, you can you can
- 14:54kind of see the the first year of Indiana elements in there
- 14:58with Bob Chesney and JMU and how they did things.
- 15:01Now, the thing that is going to be pretty questionable about
- 15:05UCLA is it it is not just because they run the ball.
- 15:08I mean, Wayne Knight, the running back for UCLA, fantastic
- 15:13year. I mean, he's good game here.
- 15:14He had 103 yards. He had a touchdown.
- 15:17Longest run was 35. I mean, he's having a good time.
- 15:20They did lose Niko Ilumeliaba for the entire season.
- 15:25Now, he was not playing exactly the prettiest game prior to
- 15:29getting hurt. He did have 10 to 17162 yards
- 15:33and he did have two picks. Now his backup tie Diefenbach, 3
- 15:40of 643 yards and a touchdown filling in for Niko.
- 15:45But again, how does how do they look going on?
- 15:48Now their schedule, their schedule honestly isn't too
- 15:51terrible. Like they they kind of have a
- 15:53soft schedule to where they might be able to make a little
- 15:57bit of a run like Indiana did, like their their biggest test
- 16:00was Oregon. Now they do have a little bit of
- 16:04a test coming up because they're going to host Luke Fickle in
- 16:06Wisconsin, who looks significantly better than what
- 16:10Wisconsin has looked like under Fickle these last few years.
- 16:13So they get them, they host Michigan State, then they host
- 16:16Nevada, they go to Minnesota. Now that one might be a little
- 16:19bit tricky, especially because that's going to be beginning in
- 16:21November against cold in Minnesota at that time.
- 16:26Then they host Illinois. Then in another cold game, they
- 16:29have to go to Michigan on November 21st.
- 16:33Again, very, very cold. Don't know how those two games
- 16:37are going to end up, but I mean you can be sitting there
- 16:40potentially in nine and two like, you know, probably a
- 16:44pretty good chance you maybe even could sneak into the
- 16:46college football play offs. Now, what might hurt you is your
- 16:49schedule because you do have a fairly soft schedule, but I
- 16:53mean, if you're winning the games, you're winning the games
- 16:56and then they end the year hosting USC.
- 16:59So there's a chance maybe UCLA does something a little bit
- 17:04special. I, I really don't know, but just
- 17:10the fact that they were able to beat Oregon the way that they
- 17:13did is just absolutely crazy. And now, of course, the game
- 17:19that I, I have a lot of mixed feelings of LSU versus Kentucky.
- 17:28You know, it was 30. I didn't even have to take the
- 17:30scoreboard for this one. That's what happens when you
- 17:34make your own graphics. You know, Kentucky wins on the
- 17:38two point conversion, 35 to 34. There is a lot of questions.
- 17:44As a LSU fan, you know, seeing this again, I didn't get to
- 17:47watch the entire game. I got to watch a good chunk of
- 17:49it. I was kind of watching it
- 17:51vicariously through ESPN and whatnot.
- 17:55I mean, and it was playing a little bit at the bar that I was
- 17:58at before I left. And here, here's what I'll take
- 18:03from this. And a few LSU fans that I know
- 18:07watch, well, I don't think they watch this, but that I've seen
- 18:12in other chats and, you know, other groups, you know, they're
- 18:16like, oh, Sam Levitt played great.
- 18:17He played great like like this. This wasn't on Sam.
- 18:22It's not all on Sam. That's that is true.
- 18:28You know, he had almost 40 yards.
- 18:30He did have a rushing touchdown. He was 25 to 34275, two passing
- 18:35touchdowns, but he had another interception and and he also had
- 18:41a fumble that ended up costing him as well.
- 18:45Like I, I've said it before on the show, he he makes me
- 18:49worried. He makes me worried it begin.
- 18:52He turns the ball over a lot and he and he likes to run, which is
- 18:59great in the moment, awful if he potentially gets hurt like I it
- 19:05it's one of those you are not going to be able to do that
- 19:08through an entire SEC schedule. And the fact that your best game
- 19:11came when you couldn't run it says an absolute lot about you
- 19:18as a quarterback. Now in that same hand, you know,
- 19:22people are trolling Lane. Lane has never done well
- 19:25whenever he's gone up to face Kentucky, whether it was with I
- 19:29believe Tennessee. I don't think he ever, I think
- 19:31he has one win against Kentucky with Old Miss.
- 19:35And then of course, he struggled here with LSU to semi defend
- 19:44Lane to an extent. It is Lane's first year at LSU
- 19:49as the head coach like it's his first year.
- 19:53I know there's a whole lot of high expectations.
- 19:56I know there's a lot of, you know, the, the standard for LSU
- 19:59is championship or bust. And I, I get that and I, I feel
- 20:03that like I'm believe me, I also want that to happen.
- 20:08Like I'm, I'm not going to sit here and say no, no, no, no,
- 20:11absolutely. I, I absolutely always want to
- 20:14see LSU hoist the Maddie. It's his first year.
- 20:19It's there's going to be some tough growing pains.
- 20:21It's going to be tough. I think the.
- 20:26There's a little bit of, I would say over height, there's a
- 20:29little bit of what I would say is like too high of
- 20:34expectations. Like he came in, he was able to
- 20:38be there for signing day. He was able to keep a lot of the
- 20:40recruits. Obviously he brought in a huge
- 20:42transfer report of class, which he does almost every single
- 20:44year. But you also got to remember
- 20:47some of these guys, they're probably going to play for a
- 20:49year and then they're going to move on.
- 20:52Some guys had already signed and already gone elsewhere or they
- 20:55already had plans in mind. And there's probably a lot of
- 20:59question marks of OK, well, like, and I don't think they
- 21:02were ever in the running. But let's take Cam Coleman for
- 21:04example. Like if I'm Cam Coleman, if I'm
- 21:07sitting there, OK, who's your quarterback?
- 21:08Like it came down between is Levitt going to sign?
- 21:11Is it going to be Soresby? I believe I know you've I know
- 21:16Lane was trying to go after Damon Williams at one point.
- 21:19So there's a lot of questions and if I'm Cam Coleman like, no,
- 21:22I've I've had enough of those questions just with, you know,
- 21:25Auburn, I don't, I don't need to throw another one in there like,
- 21:28you know, screw that. So I mean, I, I, I get it.
- 21:34I think next year will be a little bit more of a let's see
- 21:39what this looks like. I'll also save this for any LSU
- 21:44fan that's watching, for any LSU fan that's like, I don't know if
- 21:48I don't know if Lane's the guy or not.
- 21:50Just just hear me out, OK? Hear me out.
- 21:55Look at the look at the six games LSU has played so far this
- 22:00season. They beat Clemson 51 to 10.
- 22:04They beat LA Tech 45 to 14. That one was a bit of a
- 22:06struggle. Opened up definitely a whole lot
- 22:09more in the same half. Ole Miss was definitely a
- 22:12struggle. Same thing.
- 22:13Opened it up a little bit more in the second-half, made it a
- 22:16more competitive and close game. Texas A&M kind of a beat down
- 22:20from the start. You know, McNeese State beat
- 22:23down from the start. Kentucky blow for blowback and
- 22:27forth here. Here's what I'll say.
- 22:31Keep in mind, compared to what LSU had with Brian Kelly, like
- 22:37truthfully, if it when it was with Brian Kelly, like you look
- 22:41at the Ole Miss game, old miss jumped out and it was like 17 to
- 22:447. If that was Brian Kelly at
- 22:46halftime, he would have already flopped and Brian Kelly would
- 22:50just take the absolute beat down.
- 22:53And oh, we're gonna we're we're already looking forward to it.
- 22:55We're already looking ahead at Texas.
- 22:56Ano no go fight. Like what are you doing?
- 23:03Like, at least Lane has the team ready and willing and able to go
- 23:11rebound like that. That to me is a big thing is
- 23:16that Lane will keep the team with the ability to fight.
- 23:22Now, they may not always win it like they didn't against
- 23:24Kentucky. And that's that's going to
- 23:26happen like this. This is part of the growing
- 23:28pains. Will Stein obviously got a huge
- 23:30win. Hats off to Will Stein.
- 23:33You know, he's the only coach and the only team in America
- 23:35that has technically two top 10 top ten team wins in the
- 23:41country, having beaten at the time Texas A&M, who's in the top
- 23:45ten and now LSU, who is ranked at 10.
- 23:48I mean, hat hats off to them. Like, you know, that that that
- 23:52takes a lot for a first year coach and for a program like
- 23:55Kentucky, who, you know, historically in the SEC has been
- 23:59at the bottom as far as football goes.
- 24:01So, I mean, hats off to them. I will say, I do think this year
- 24:06will continue to be a bit of a bumpy roller coaster ride for
- 24:11Lane and LSU. You know, if you look at the
- 24:13rest of their schedule, they host Ole Miss this coming
- 24:16Saturday. Now it's early or not Ole Miss.
- 24:18They host Mississippi State, who's ranked #16 right now, who
- 24:23knows how that game is going to go with Camario Taylor because
- 24:26he's a heck of an athletic quarterback.
- 24:28They're kind of reeling a little bit after a beat down from
- 24:31Alabama. They're also coming off of a
- 24:33bye. So a little bit more well
- 24:35rested, a little bit more preparation.
- 24:37Maybe they take a couple things out of Kentucky's playbook so
- 24:41that that's one to keep an eye on, especially for as good as
- 24:43Camaro Taylor is. Then they go to Auburn.
- 24:47Not necessarily too worried about Auburn, but I it's one of
- 24:50those, if I've learned anything, you don't don't overlook your
- 24:54opponent because it could always be a trap.
- 24:57And then then they get into three tough games to, you know,
- 25:02come close to finishing the season in November.
- 25:05You host Alabama, who as much as I don't want to say it, as much
- 25:08as I don't want to admit it, they absolutely look like the
- 25:11team to beat right now in the SEC.
- 25:13As much as it pains me to say that.
- 25:16Then you have to host Texas now. Texas is a little bit more
- 25:20realistic now than what I thought.
- 25:24Now their their defense is what's really going to make me
- 25:26wonder because Sam likes to run. Sam likes to turn the ball over
- 25:31and will will Texas be able to capitalize on that?
- 25:34That's going to be a big question mark.
- 25:37And then they go on the road to Tennessee, another place that
- 25:40Lane has been to and who hates Lane, but a tough Tennessee
- 25:44team. I mean, who again, defensively,
- 25:46they held toe to toe with Texas, who at the time, you know, was
- 25:51rolling. And it's not like it was a
- 25:53blowout game, but Tennessee is not going to be an easy place to
- 25:56play and they're not going to be an easy opponent to play.
- 25:59And then they finished the year at Arkansas for the Golden Boot.
- 26:04It's a rivalry game. I know last year Brian Kelly was
- 26:06fired. It was, you know, the roster
- 26:08completely changed. Garrett Nussbayer was going, oh,
- 26:11he was still there, but he was hurt.
- 26:13Martin Van Buren took the start. The defense kind of saved him
- 26:16once again. So I mean, there, there's going
- 26:19to be a lot, but I mean, I, it's a, it's a tough like it, it is a
- 26:26tough time to, to open up and to start with.
- 26:30But again, it's it, it's not the end of the world.
- 26:33It's not, it's, it's not something that I expect anything
- 26:39like crazy to happen, right? It's you know, he, he's going to
- 26:46have some growing pains. There's going to be some games
- 26:48that we lose, like truthfully and honestly, and it's not even
- 26:53me just trying to buy into the lane height.
- 26:57This LSU team looks better than what it had been under Brian
- 27:02Kelly by Miles and miles not as good as pre Brian Kelly,
- 27:08obviously, with Ed Osheron now kind of similar to like the Les
- 27:12Miles of the cardiac LSU Tigers. Or they would be like right to
- 27:17the moment and then they'd be able to sneak out a big win.
- 27:22But, and I know some people made the comparison like, you know,
- 27:25Lane's first year to or not Lane, Nick Saban's first year at
- 27:28LSU, they had like 2 kind of major upset losses to teams.
- 27:33It's going to happen. Like it happens to almost
- 27:37everybody they trip up. And and keep in mind it took him
- 27:41six years to build Ole Miss into what it was last year.
- 27:46It's going to taking time to rebuild into LSU.
- 27:49There's a lot of turnover, a lot of staff changes.
- 27:52I do have a bit of a question mark for Blake, Blake Baker,
- 27:56like he is a good D coordinator, but he also worries the crap out
- 27:59of me because I'm like, dude, what are you doing?
- 28:01Like what, why are you mismanaging some of your
- 28:03personnel And what you know, some of the coverages that
- 28:06you're running, you're having this guy go to coverage when
- 28:07he's definitely a pass rusher and vice versa.
- 28:10So and there there will be some growing pains, but it's not the
- 28:15end of the world. I do want to add a couple more
- 28:19things on this as far as the, as far as the whole referee thing,
- 28:24because as LSU fans, you know, and I, I even watched it, I
- 28:27agree. There's a play right before half
- 28:30where Kentucky's quarterback goes for the sneak and LSU
- 28:36defense stops them. And it just seems like an hour
- 28:39in forever. They're just letting them keep
- 28:41going until finally they wiggle their way into the end zone for
- 28:44a touchdown and they they take the lead before half.
- 28:49And it's like, well, like when, when, when are you stopping?
- 28:53Like forward progress? Like anybody else, they're going
- 28:55to stop forward progress. And I, I get it.
- 29:00The other one was the false start of the, the offensive
- 29:04lineman moving his head. You know, a lot of people were
- 29:08upset about that. Again, I completely understand
- 29:11and I get it. The here's the thing I will say
- 29:17with that, the the refs are a part of the game, good and bad.
- 29:24And I mean you can pretty much say it for every single, every
- 29:30single game. There's good and bad calls.
- 29:31There's calls that are missed, there's calls that aren't
- 29:33missed. No matter what.
- 29:37The refs are a part of the game. And you had 60 minutes to beat
- 29:41them with or without the refs. And that's something that I've
- 29:44argued and I've said for pretty much any, any, well, any game,
- 29:51whether it's pros, whether it's college, One of the guys in the
- 29:55group chat, he that's all he would do is complain about how
- 29:58bad referees are. It's like most of these games,
- 30:01you got 60 minutes. The refs are a part of it.
- 30:05If you want to try to beat it, do your best to beat it and do
- 30:08your best to beat it with or without the reps.
- 30:13Now there was a a claim from Lane according to on three and a
- 30:17few other sources have reported this.
- 30:20It says Lane Kiffin claims the line judge told him there was
- 30:24too much at stake to call Kentucky quarterback Kenny
- 30:27Minchi's sneak touchdown dead before half time.
- 30:31The lying According to Lane Kiffin, the lion judge just said
- 30:35that in that situation, there was too much at stake.
- 30:40He said he would have been killed if he'd blown the whistle
- 30:42for the play being stopped. Even though it appeared to be
- 30:45stopped, He later added, do not blow it because it's such a big
- 30:50play. The rules are the rules Now,
- 30:52again, this is Lane Kiffin. Lane Kiffin comes with nothing
- 30:56but, you know, scrutiny, controversy, drama, anything and
- 31:01everything. Again, it this isn't something
- 31:04that we, this isn't something new.
- 31:07This isn't something we haven't already seen happen before.
- 31:11It's not the end of the world. Again, Kentucky is a good team,
- 31:15at least this year. They're a good team.
- 31:17Now if it was like the Kentucky of old, I'd have a little bit
- 31:20more questions. And I and I will say the last
- 31:23thing on this, there was a part there is about a minute and 30
- 31:26left because I remember turning on the game as it was even
- 31:29close. It was fourth and one and they
- 31:32didn't go for it and LSU punt it.
- 31:36That's a lot of faith in your defense and I'm not I'm not I'm
- 31:38not hating on them for that cause the defense has been solid
- 31:40all year, but Kentucky was able to move the.
- 31:43Ball all night like. You you, you do have to give
- 31:47them some credit like they were able to do it, like you need to
- 31:49figure out some type of trick play.
- 31:50You need to do a quarterback, sneak, half back sneak.
- 31:53You need to do the same thing. You need to, you know, push,
- 31:56push, push, like whatever you got to do to make it happen.
- 32:00So that is where I would say I'm a little frustrated.
- 32:02And again, that's we, we've seen Lane do that all these years.
- 32:06It's it's happened. Hopefully it's something that he
- 32:09learns from. And again, this is kind of AI
- 32:14don't want to say a trial run, but it's just the first year.
- 32:16It's him kind of getting his feet wet with LSU.
- 32:18It's using this roster. He's going to continue to build.
- 32:21He's going to continue to recruit.
- 32:22He's going to, you know, get guys in the transfer portal and
- 32:24whatnot. So it's not the end of the
- 32:27world. I just want to throw that out
- 32:29there. It's not the end, is it
- 32:32disappointing? Absolutely, but not at the end
- 32:34of the world. But as I spent like 30 minutes,
- 32:38what it felt like on that. Let's move on to the other big
- 32:42game of the night and that's Georgia going to Alabama to get
- 32:47the first win in Tuscaloosa since 2007, which is absolutely
- 32:56crazy that it took them that long to be able to get a win in
- 33:03in Tuscaloosa. And it's first time Kirby Smart
- 33:05has beaten Alabama in the regular season.
- 33:08All of his other victories came either in the College Football
- 33:12playoffs, whether it be the national championship or the SEC
- 33:16championship, which again, also crazy that that's the kind of
- 33:21statistic that we're looking at, especially when we look at
- 33:24Georgia. And you could very easily argue
- 33:26that Georgia is almost always one of the teams that's
- 33:29considered to be a heavy favorite to end up ultimately
- 33:32winning the conference. But just just looking at some of
- 33:36their stats, I mean, it was a fantastic game overall.
- 33:40Like truthfully, it was close the entire time.
- 33:45You got to see a little bit of Kaylin Devore fired up on some
- 33:49of the bad calls that happened. I know one of them.
- 33:52Obviously I watched the highlights you at the very end
- 33:55where what more than likely should have been defensive pass
- 33:58interference. It's not called again like them
- 34:02are not good or bad or indifferent.
- 34:04The refs are a part of the game. They make really good calls and
- 34:07they make really crappy calls and this just happened to be a
- 34:10crappy call and George ends up coming out with a win.
- 34:14Gutter Stockton looked fantastic.
- 34:16George was able to run the ball and throw the ball.
- 34:18And this was this was a little bit of a test for Alabama and
- 34:22Keylon Russell because I mean, as much as I, as much as I can't
- 34:27stay in Alabama, like they, they hadn't really faced much of
- 34:30anybody. Now I do have to give to them,
- 34:33both of them and Mississippi State credit, you know, they,
- 34:36they took on Mississippi State and they beat them.
- 34:40And we we got to learn a little bit more about Alabama as a
- 34:43result of that. And we got to learn a lot about
- 34:44Mississippi State. Kind of the same thing here now.
- 34:48Keylon Russell, little bit of a growing pain just because,
- 34:50again, it's a big game. He hadn't seen a defense like
- 34:52this before. He hadn't seen a team like this
- 34:54before. He was 16 of 3185.
- 34:57He had a touchdown. Trying to see if he also had a
- 35:02rushing. Yeah, he had 41 yards on the
- 35:04ground as well. So I mean, he he was solid.
- 35:09Like, I can't, I can't take that away from him.
- 35:11Just got her shocked and played a little bit better.
- 35:13He had 18 to 22249, a touchdown and a pick.
- 35:18Dwight Phillips for Georgia was able to run it with 120 yards,
- 35:21but Walker was 69. Stockton had about 12 yards
- 35:25himself. And and I mean, it's and Keylon,
- 35:32did they end up having the fumble that ended up losing.
- 35:34But Georgia and Georgia had four fumbles.
- 35:38They didn't lose any of them, luckily.
- 35:41So each team had a turnover, but this, this was a game where we
- 35:46learned, we learned a lot about both.
- 35:49And I, I still think it's one of those it's, it's gorgeous to
- 35:52lose until, until otherwise. But I also, I do wonder now
- 35:58we've we've kind of seen this before with Bama of they start
- 36:05out really hot and then something like this happens and
- 36:08they trip and then it's like they turn into a completely
- 36:11different team the rest of the way.
- 36:13And their schedule isn't, it's not the end of the world.
- 36:18They do go and face Tennessee next week.
- 36:21Fantastic game. I'm super excited for that.
- 36:25Tennessee has been able to really hold the road at home, on
- 36:27the road. So that's going to be a little
- 36:30bit of an environmental factor and a mental factor there for
- 36:32Bama. Now they host Texas A&M.
- 36:34That should be probably a win just because of how far and how
- 36:38badly Texas A&M has fallen. They go to LSU, Morton, it's
- 36:42going to be a night game again. They haven't really had
- 36:44historically a lot of issues going to LSU and facing them.
- 36:49But how does Lane Kiffin do with facing Alabama, another one of
- 36:52his old teams? Then they go to Vandy.
- 36:55Shouldn't necessarily be a worry.
- 36:57They host Chattanooga, That should be an obvious win.
- 37:01And then, of course, the Iron Bowl to finish.
- 37:02So, I mean, there's a couple opportunities they could trip.
- 37:06I doubt it, but there is possibilities and who knows,
- 37:10maybe this is this ultimately ends up being a repeat of the
- 37:14SEC championship game before before it's all said and done.
- 37:16So nonetheless though, happy Georgia.
- 37:19One because I hate Alabama. Whenever Alabama loses, miracle
- 37:23wins. Just a miracle wins.
- 37:26Let's look ahead to some of the other big games that's happening
- 37:29in college football this coming weekend.
- 37:31We've got probably the biggest 1.
- 37:33You have a repeat battle for the Big 10 championship from last
- 37:37year. You have #4 Ohio State heading 2
- 37:39here in Bloomington IN fakes to take on the number 5 ranked
- 37:43Hoosiers. This one, man, I, I don't expect
- 37:49this to be, I don't expect this to be a good game for Indiana.
- 37:53And, and it's nothing against them it and I mean, I think for
- 37:58a lot of people when you looked at it last year, probably said
- 38:00the exact same thing. I felt like by the time they
- 38:04faced Ohio State last year, they had kind of been more battle
- 38:10tested and they were more ready. I mean, they went, they took on,
- 38:14they went and took on Oregon in in Austin last year.
- 38:17They end up getting that tough win.
- 38:20Let me look at because I want to pull up a couple, couple of
- 38:23their other games from last year.
- 38:26But I mean, coming into this one, you've had two tests that
- 38:31when, when you sit here, look at them like, yeah, they're,
- 38:33they're tests. They're not exactly the the
- 38:38scariest of tests, 'cause I mean, you, you had to struggle
- 38:43against Northwestern, You struggled a lot against
- 38:46Nebraska. It just seemed like you did not
- 38:47want to win against Nebraska. But but kind of the kind of the
- 38:52same as last year, you know, they, they had to go to
- 38:57Illinois. That was a tough fought game.
- 38:59They really had to scrape and fight in that one.
- 39:01They had to go to Oregon. They really had to scrape and
- 39:05fight against that one. And then after that they were
- 39:08just kind of able to cruise aside from Penn State.
- 39:11But Penn State was already kind of, you know, in the, they were
- 39:16already kind of eliminated out. But I mean, they were, they
- 39:19still fought hard. I mean, it was a 27 to 24 game.
- 39:21It literally took down to the end for Mendoza's quote, UN
- 39:25quote Heisman moment to be able to do that.
- 39:29And so I mean, he, he did have some tests, but this, this is
- 39:32kind of an early on test for Indiana to be facing Ohio State
- 39:37kind of this early on in the season.
- 39:40And then they, they have a little bit more of a tough time
- 39:42as as the schedule goes on 'cause they then have to turn
- 39:45around and go to Michigan, then they host Minnesota.
- 39:48That one will be tough. How they do get a break luckily
- 39:52in between before they host USC in the middle of November.
- 39:56I think they'll have an advantage both because US CS
- 39:58defense is trash and the fact that it will be cold.
- 40:02But then they have to go face Washington.
- 40:04Now that one might not be as bad because Washington I think will
- 40:07be struggling a little bit. And then they host Purdue for
- 40:11the old Oaken Bucket. So I don't think that one will
- 40:14be as bad. So I mean, there there's still a
- 40:16huge chance that Indiana. Would more potentially likely be
- 40:21back in the big 10 championship this year and more than likely
- 40:23still be back in the playoffs this year barring any type of
- 40:28like major injury to like a significant playmaker such as
- 40:31Hoover at quarterback. But I mean, to face to face Ohio
- 40:36State basically in the middle of the season, that's that's going
- 40:39to say a lot about who this Indiana Hoosiers team is.
- 40:42And for Ohio State, you know, they Ohio State has an even
- 40:46tougher schedule. So I mean, they, they literally
- 40:48have no room for error if they lose this game 'cause then they
- 40:53have, then they get a buy, they go to USC, they host Oregon,
- 40:58they host Northwestern, then they go to Nebraska and then
- 41:00they host Michigan. Again, not in the world games.
- 41:03Not the toughest, but you do have to be careful with some of
- 41:06them. Now, do I think Ohio State like
- 41:09par for far player for player like match up to match up wins?
- 41:12Absolutely. But you do you do so have to be
- 41:18careful. But I, I, I am a little bit
- 41:19worried to see what Indiana does overall against Ohio State in
- 41:24this game. While I still have it up and
- 41:27while we can still look at it and see, I do want to see what
- 41:32the what the opening line is on Tuesday the 13th here in October
- 41:39opening line as it stands right now.
- 41:48Ohio State is favored by 4 1/2 as it stands right now.
- 41:53So I mean that that does kind of say a lot about how even some of
- 41:57the betters feel about this coming in.
- 42:01Like I said, like I kind of mentioned earlier, one of the
- 42:02other big games, you know, Mississippi State comes into
- 42:04town to take on LSU. It's an early, early afternoon
- 42:07game, which doesn't happen a whole lot as as the Tigers
- 42:10stand. It's very rare that I you know
- 42:13that I don't get to actually watch my team during the daytime
- 42:16and not, you know, close to bed. This one LSU and again, this is
- 42:22what's crazy because they did this, they did this with Ole
- 42:25Miss, they did it with Kentucky and LSU ended up absolutely they
- 42:28were favored by like 10 1/2 ten. This coming in LSU is favored by
- 42:3214. Now I am going to try to see
- 42:35real quick while I still have it on the air and hopefully while
- 42:37I'm not too bad. I want to try to see if Kamario
- 42:43Taylor supposed to play or not. Doesn't really say.
- 42:57I don't think it has an injury report either, unfortunately.
- 43:02But it, it, it does make me really wonder because I know we
- 43:07saw Kamario Taylor limping a little bit after the Alabama
- 43:11game. So I mean, what is that?
- 43:14What, what does that look like? Oh, here we go.
- 43:18So as of October 12th, so yesterday at about 9:53 PM
- 43:23Eastern Time, His status for Saturday's game is in flux.
- 43:28According to ESP NS Pete Thamel, a decision will be made whether
- 43:32he'll play later on in the week. He's dealing with a foot injury
- 43:36initially suffered in the win against Mizzou, headed to the
- 43:39locker room in the early fourth quarter of the loss against
- 43:42Alabama after playing through some discomfort.
- 43:45And that the SEC availability report Wednesday would provide
- 43:53an update on Taylor. So we should have a better idea
- 43:58tomorrow as if Taylor's going to play or not.
- 44:02Again, I don't know why they have LSU so highly favored and
- 44:04and maybe it's because they are going to assume as of right now
- 44:07Taylor is out. And if that's the case, they
- 44:08think he'll win. I mean, he played through the
- 44:12pain. He said a week off.
- 44:13So maybe he's able to take a little bit of injection, take
- 44:16some time off, rest it, work it, heal it.
- 44:18That's a that's a lot of ask though.
- 44:21That's a lot of ask and especially for a Mississippi
- 44:24State team that you know, they even against Bama, they had
- 44:27their moments where they look solid.
- 44:28They just they got hurt because of a couple turnovers that
- 44:31Alabama capitalized on. And Alabama has a great defense
- 44:35in as much as I hate to admit that they do.
- 44:37So hats off to them. Like I said, this one will be a
- 44:41big game with Alabama going to Tennessee.
- 44:43Tennessee has won the last couple there in Neyland.
- 44:47So, I mean, Alabama has, has definitely struggled there.
- 44:52As much as I want to, as much as I don't want to admit it, I,
- 44:56this is one of those I, yeah, Alabama's favored by 8 1/2.
- 45:01I, I don't know what Faison Brandon status is going to be
- 45:06like for this. George McIntyre filled in for
- 45:08him against Arkansas. He did decent.
- 45:11They only ended up winning by 7, though, which is a little bit of
- 45:13a worry just because I kind of expected them to maybe do a
- 45:17little bit better against that. And obviously Keylon Russell and
- 45:21Bain are probably going to come out pissed off and hot as this
- 45:25game comes on. But ultimately we'll we'll we'll
- 45:29end up finding out, but it'll be it should be a good game.
- 45:32This one with Mizzou going to old Miss.
- 45:37This one I think is probably what I would say the most
- 45:41interesting because I, I, I don't know really where to gauge
- 45:48both of these teams. And I say that because Mizzou
- 45:51lost to Mississippi State, albeit close.
- 45:53And again, it's credit to Mississippi State being a really
- 45:58good football team, being really good with Kamari Taylor.
- 46:00And it hats off to him for being able to lead his team against a
- 46:06tough Mizzou team. But as it stands right now, Ole
- 46:11Miss is favored by the opening is 6.
- 46:14So they're favored by about a touchdown against Mizzou and I
- 46:18believe old miss is actually coming off of a bye week, if I
- 46:21remember correctly. And they are Nope.
- 46:26They beat yeah, they beat the stand out of Mandy.
- 46:28Never mind. They're not coming off of a bye
- 46:29week. So they, you know, they're
- 46:32coming off of a big win against Mandy.
- 46:34So they have a little bit of their confidence back.
- 46:36They're probably going to be rolling quite a bit.
- 46:39So little bit of a little bit of a surprise with that, that
- 46:46they're kind of kind of dismissing Mizzou a little bit,
- 46:49especially after they, you know, beat Florida and then they beat
- 46:53a very decimated Texas A&M team. That that's still a team that I
- 46:57I would kind of watch out for in, in all honesty, with how
- 47:00this college football season has been, with how the SEC has been
- 47:05and with how Mizzou can roll and can run the ball.
- 47:08And it is kind of cool story because you have Austin Simmons,
- 47:11the old, old Miss quarterback that, you know, was there prior
- 47:16to Chambliss taking over. So that that's kind of a cool
- 47:18storyline that'll be there as well.
- 47:20Does he kind of get revenge like this?
- 47:22This is one that when I look at it, I'm like, this might have
- 47:25upset kind of brewing all over it.
- 47:29Another one that we get to really learn a little bit more
- 47:31about each of the teams. Notre Dame going to Provo to
- 47:35take on BYU. And, and this is big for both
- 47:38because this is Notre Dame's first true test.
- 47:41This is BYU's first true test, because they haven't really
- 47:44played anybody up until this point.
- 47:47So you know, who's going to come out on top?
- 47:49How how are each of these teams going to ultimately end up
- 47:52looking to open Notre Dame as 10 1/2 point favorites?
- 47:57I have never been a fan of BYU personally.
- 48:00And even as somebody who follows sports, who loves sports, who
- 48:04loves college football, I have never understood why they rank
- 48:08BYU consistently like so high. So like just crazy ridiculous up
- 48:14there 'cause I, I don't expect anything crazy from BYUI.
- 48:19Just I don't like, and I, and I know it's kind of a personal
- 48:23thing, 'cause I have this weird thing with, with the whole, you
- 48:27know, Mormons and I don't want to try to go into a rabbit hole
- 48:30religion. And I, I don't like bashing
- 48:32other people's religions, but it's, it's weird And I don't
- 48:36care for BYU as a whole, all honesty.
- 48:39So I, I'm going to be rooting for the Irish in this one.
- 48:42Full, full bias transparency. I do.
- 48:46And I think Notre Dame might still struggle.
- 48:50I just, I don't think BYU talent wise has enough to really
- 48:56overcome Notre Dame. I think Notre Dame, even if they
- 48:59struggle throwing the ball as CJ Carter might do because their
- 49:02run game is definitely taking a huge dive since Price and Love
- 49:05are both gone. I think passing wise, Carter
- 49:09won't have an issue at all. And then it's not the last a big
- 49:15game because kind of another, I don't want to say big, big game,
- 49:19but one that's a little bit interesting.
- 49:20You get Florida State going to Miami.
- 49:22Miami's a 21 point favorite, but wouldn't it be the most Florida
- 49:25State Mike Norville thing to do to try to upset them?
- 49:29One that I think is a little bit going to be under the radar
- 49:31because I don't think a lot of people are going to be paying
- 49:33attention to it. You might watch it if it's one
- 49:36of those towards the end of the day and you like you're like me
- 49:39and I, I like to watch multiple college football games at once.
- 49:43Oklahoma State, ranked 18th, goes to Houston to take them on.
- 49:47And this could very well kind of decide who who really makes
- 49:52their appearance in the Big 12 championship.
- 49:55Houston has already lost to Texas Tech, so they already have
- 49:57a loss. Now, Oklahoma State does have a
- 49:59loss to Tulsa, but they are undefeated in the Big 12 as it
- 50:03stands right now. And there's a high possibility
- 50:06that, you know, with the way Mestemaker's playing, he could
- 50:09take the Cowboys to the Big 12 championship and at least make
- 50:12appearance and maybe even maybe even make a Big 12 champion or
- 50:18make a College Football Playoff appearance.
- 50:20Like just because of how the rest of their schedule plays
- 50:22out. They go to Houston, then they
- 50:26host Colorado, they go to Iowa State, they go to Kansas State,
- 50:30then their biggest 1 is in early November, they host Texas Tech.
- 50:34And honestly, the way Texas Tech has played, Texas Tech does not
- 50:37look like the number team #10 team in the country.
- 50:39Like they have struggled a lot. I feel like offensively they
- 50:44don't look the same as they did last year.
- 50:45And defensively, they don't even look the same as they did last
- 50:47year. And, and obviously, I know this
- 50:50is still literally a month away as it stands right now, ESPN
- 50:57only gives Oklahoma State about a 26 percent chance of winning.
- 51:02But I mean, Mestmaker, he is having an absolutely awesome
- 51:05season. And his story is even cooler.
- 51:07Apparently he was like the third string backup for his high
- 51:10school. He didn't even play his last two
- 51:13years. He walk on at North Texas was
- 51:16like the fifth string quarterback, made it all the way
- 51:18up to backup. Chandler Morris was there.
- 51:20He transfers and then Mestmaker plays in the bowl game.
- 51:24They they said he threw for like 390, just absolutely balled out.
- 51:28And I mean, he, he, I, I'm excited for him and I, I really
- 51:33want to see him succeed as a whole.
- 51:35Like he, he is an absolute blast to watch.
- 51:39I mean, just a few games in the season, he's thrown 1575 yards,
- 51:4413 touchdowns and five picks. And that's not even including
- 51:48his rushing statistics. Like the dude can absolutely
- 51:50play. He's a baller.
- 51:52He's fun to watch. Like I'm, I'm absolutely rooting
- 51:55for this kid 110%. But that is it.
- 52:00That is all I've got for this week.
- 52:01Fun week in college football. Another fun week going to be
