- 0:06Speaker 1: The Wonderful Patrick Stewart, known for roles in Star Trek
- 0:09Speaker 1: and X-Men, has died. He'd been battling Alzheimer's disease and
- 0:12Speaker 1: Lewy body dementia. Classically trained star of stage and screen,
- 0:18Speaker 1: Stewart played everyone from Macbeth to Captain Jean-Luc Picard.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Commander, it is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose.
- 0:33Speaker 2: That is not a weakness. That is life.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Born in a tiny Yorkshire village in 1940, he was
- 0:41Speaker 1: a furniture salesman when he left school before eventually going
- 0:44Speaker 1: to acting school, shedding the Yorkshire accent and joining the
- 0:48Speaker 1: Royal Shakespeare Company in 1966. Throughout his career, he won
- 0:52Speaker 1: a Grammy Award and two Lawrence Olivier Awards for his
- 0:55Speaker 1: stage work. He was also nominated for a Tony and
- 0:58Speaker 1: four Emmys. Tributes have been flooding social media. Hugh Jackman
- 1:01Speaker 1: has written, we lost one of the greats of stage
- 1:03Speaker 1: and screen today, and in my book, a tremendous friend
- 1:07Speaker 1: and man. William Shatner wrote, what a heartbreaking week it's been.
- 1:11Speaker 1: From the stage to the bridge of the enterprise, he
- 1:14Speaker 1: brought intelligence, grace, and a deep sense of humanity to
- 1:17Speaker 1: everything he did. Patrick Stewart was 86. Guests who's coming
- 1:22Speaker 1: back to Perth next February to be the headline entertainer
- 1:27Speaker 1: for the two-day Rugby Sevens event. I'll give you a clue.
- 1:30Speaker 1: I love Sophie Ellis-Bexter. This will be her only Australian
- 1:39Speaker 1: appearance when she performs on February 6th at HBF Park.
- 1:42Speaker 1: She was here in February of this year and had
- 1:44Speaker 1: so much fun. She's coming back. Sneaky Sound System will
- 1:48Speaker 1: also perform after the packed weekend of rugby featuring the
- 1:51Speaker 1: world's best men's and women's teams. The guitar George Michael
- 1:56Speaker 1: used in his 1987 Faith music video has sold at
- 2:00Speaker 1: auction for $ 342, 000. I mean, it is the one he
- 2:07Speaker 1: famously did this with. The guitar was one of more
- 2:14Speaker 1: than 30 items auctioned off from the collection of Siobhan Bailey,
- 2:18Speaker 1: Michael's longtime personal assistant, and the auction was not without controversy.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Bailey died in 2014 and these items were sold by
- 2:27Speaker 1: her estranged husband who inherited them after her death.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Didn't get to that will in time. Her brother has
- 2:34Speaker 1: told the BBC she would be horrified at the prospect
- 2:38Speaker 1: of the auction being held in her name and that
- 2:41Speaker 1: her personal cherished possessions of Michael, of George Michael, are
- 2:45Speaker 1: being sold off to the highest bidder.
- 2:47Speaker 2: For that kind of money, it better be in tune. And.
- 2:50Speaker 1: And here we go, another week, another record broken for
- 2:53Speaker 1: the Guinness Book of Records. And this one's pretty niche,
- 2:56Speaker 1: to say the very least. Moving ice between two trays
- 3:01Speaker 1: using just your mouth. And this guy's got form. Idaho
- 3:04Speaker 1: man David Rush holds more than 200 Guinness World Record
- 3:09Speaker 1: titles and has previous experience with mouth-based ones. such as
- 3:14Speaker 1: catching marshmallows and spitting ping pong balls. What's the business
- 3:19Speaker 1: plan behind this? Don't know. But I'm just thinking a
- 3:22Speaker 1: ping pong ball's not tiny. No. Spitting ping pong balls.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Based on that, he thought, oh, this one will be easy.
- 3:30Speaker 1: It wasn't, though, because ice melts. The cubes had to
- 3:34Speaker 1: be no more than 25 grams each, and then the
- 3:37Speaker 1: next obstacle was finding the correct level of coldness. Too
- 3:40Speaker 1: cold and they stick to your lips. Not cold enough.
- 3:43Speaker 1: they lose weight to run off water. Rush said, I
- 3:46Speaker 1: had to dial in the exact window, letting them temper
- 3:50Speaker 1: just enough so they wouldn't glue themselves to my face,
- 3:53Speaker 1: but striking before they lost mass or turned impossible to grab. Anyway,
- 3:57Speaker 1: he ended up moving 991 grams of ice between the trays,
- 4:01Speaker 1: more than enough to take the title. He's always an overachiever.
- 4:05Speaker 1: And secure himself yet another page in the Guinness Book
- 4:09Speaker 1: of Records. Get a job, mate.
