  Nice to be here. After the various tales of my

  exploits and misbehaviors at places like Catch, it's good to

  finally be on the pub myself. And good to have you on.

  So we are reviewing, if the title of this podcast doesn't

  tell you already, the future shock show that took place last
• 2:23
  Sunday afternoon at the Fairfield Social Club entitled

  The Greatest Showcase. I think it's called the Greatest
• 2:34
  Showcase on Earth. But hey ho, what's a few words?

  So we will start off with the opening match being Romy
• 2:47
  Kendrick against Aaron Shaw. So the notes first.
• 2:56
  So we have Aaron Shaw starting on the front foot, gives Romy a
• 3:03
  bit of a slap, but Romy soon responds with his own heavy duty
• 3:09
  slap to his opponent's face. Kendrick hits a Harlem sidekick
• 3:16
  which sends Shaw crashing to the canvas.
• 3:21
  Romy then scores with a running high knee in the corner before
• 3:27
  asking the future shock faithful.
• 3:30
  Does anybody want to see a bulldog?
• 3:34
  Which they do and he is only too happy to oblige.

  Shaw then takes back over in this contest as he kicks his
• 3:46
  opponent in the chest while having the the higher ground on
• 3:50
  the apron gives a few stumps in the corner.

  A nice little face wash with the boot, then hits a running boot

  into the face of Kendrick. Romy then catches shore of
• 4:07
  Brett's rope lands a black hole. Slam sit down slam.

  As I've put it my notes are terrible.

  Hits a single like drop kick. Then we have Aaron Shaw hitting
• 4:23
  a spine Buster, but Kendrick does exactly the same, sure
• 4:31
  tries to fight out of it, but he can't as spinebuster leads to

  Romi Kendrick hitting his five star Frog splash for the 1-2 and
• 4:45
  that free who we're going to come to, we'll come to you first

  Samuel all. Right, all right, all right.

  So really nice, really good opening contest here.

  Romy who? As always, whenever you put a
• 5:09
  match in Romy's hands, I feel like it's always going to be a
• 5:13
  really good one. I still haven't.

  I haven't seen a mediocre Romy Kendrick match.
• 5:21
  They've all been at the very least good and this one was no
• 5:26
  exception. It felt like it was very needed
• 5:30
  because we needed that fast pace to get the crowd alive because a
• 5:33
  lot of people were new to Future Shock.
• 5:35
  People were supporting people that they knew or they just
• 5:39
  thought let's go, it'll be fun because we had a really packed
• 5:44
  towel Fairfield crowd. A lot more people in Fairfield
• 5:48
  that are usually there and I feel like these two boys
• 5:53
  delivered. Seeing Aaron Shaw in more of a
• 5:59
  spotlight I think than his first match because the first match it
• 6:03
  was all about Bentley and if he can hold the values of the
• 6:09
  locker room up to standards. So we didn't get to really see
• 6:13
  much of Aaron Shaw as a, you know, character or like his in
• 6:18
  depth move set was a lot of punching and this showed us that
• 6:22
  he's a lot more varied in his offence, which I really liked
• 6:26
  even though he was on the losing end of this.
• 6:29
  But I'm sure, I'm sure we'll pick up a win in no time.
• 6:31
  And it seems like they want to do important stuff with him and
• 6:37
  Romi Kendrick. Now you got to look at the
• 6:42
  question of what when is he going to be in the title scene?
• 6:47
  Because he still hasn't been pinned or submitted in future
• 6:53
  shock. He he was on because he he
• 6:57
  wasn't the one pinned in the four way at future shock the
• 7:03
  lightning. So he may have only he he has
• 7:08
  one loss on his record because of that match, but he has not
• 7:12
  been pinned or submitted by anyone yet.
• 7:14
  So it begs the question, when is he going to go after the
• 7:20
  Adrenaline or the world title or the tag titles if you want to
• 7:24
  team up with Dynamite Lee again, because I'd love to see that.

  They were great together. So yeah, that's my thoughts.

  We'll, we'll come to you in a second, John, because I know
• 7:36
  you, you want to come in here Before we do though, I will
• 7:44
  agree exactly about the title picture with Romy.

  He's picked up a fair few wins now, was in that tournament.

  For the future Shock, I want to say the Invitational tournament.

  It's not really the Invitational tournament, but.

  I think they call it the Just the Future Shock Trophy

  tournament, Just Shock Trophy tournament.
• 8:10
  But he it's at the point now I feel where he I would love to
• 8:17
  see him with the adrenaline title.

  I think him and Tony would have a hell of a match.
• 8:24
  And I can definitely see him kind of holding that title
• 8:29
  somewhere down the line at least because I think he's you can
• 8:37
  picture him with the title and him doing great things with it.
• 8:44
  But again, we're we're kind of running before we can walk on on
• 8:49
  that particular idea. My personal take on this match
• 8:55
  was it was a really good, solid opener.
• 9:00
  Much like you said about Shaw in his first match was purely a
• 9:04
  case of just get him on the show, get him to kind of have
• 9:12
  him in front of a crowd and we saw glimpses of what he can do.
• 9:19
  And I think on this occasion he he came up Milhouse.

  He did really well in this. Sometimes normally you'll have
• 9:35
  like the more experienced one do most of the kind of like the the
• 9:41
  beat down or whatever. So kind of like composing
• 9:48
  everything in this match and it does kind of like take two to
• 9:53
  tango and make a match look really good.

  Starting as the opener, which feels like it is future shocks
• 10:05
  strong point in recent times because they've just had so many
• 10:09
  bangers for like the opening match and this just added really
• 10:16
  to it. John, what was what was your
• 10:21
  take on this? Yeah, very solid opening match.

  I'd say 2 guys who I'm not necessarily that enamoured with
• 10:28
  a lot of the time. They're both very good athletes
• 10:30
  obviously, but they're aesthetically they're still a
• 10:34
  bit too create a wrestler for me, if you know what I mean.
• 10:37
  Like I'm not a big fan of guys wrestling gloves.
• 10:40
  And we had two of them in this one, which is not totally ideal,
• 10:43
  but you know, Romy's like a good hype man babyface get the crowd
• 10:47
  in and Aaron's a very just easy target heel to Boo at.
• 10:52
  And they both played those roles really well and they got the
• 10:55
  crowd hyped up into the show. So that's all you can really ask
• 10:58
  for an opener, I think. Yeah, fair enough.

  We then moved to match #2 originally scheduled to be Saxa
• 11:13
  against Lily Winter instead. And I'll bring you into this
• 11:21
  first because we were chatting before the show happened.

  I can't remember how the discussion came about.

  And you mentioned we haven't seen like an inter gender kind
• 11:37
  of match at Future Shock, have we?
• 11:41
  And we couldn't. I couldn't think of 1.
• 11:44
  Yeah, there was the tag match in January between Lally and FTM.
• 11:53
  But like, I mean one-on-one on one inter gender.
• 11:57
  I couldn't remember ever seeing one because I will, because the
• 12:02
  point was, Oh no, the only suddenly one match announcement
• 12:08
  I said. I said that's probably because
• 12:10
  they're probably the only, only women's match to be so it's like
• 12:15
  on this card. So they're like, they couldn't
• 12:17
  really keep it a secret unless they do an independent match.

  But having spoke about that, we then got one in the shape of
• 12:29
  Saxa taking on Haley Cooling from the horde.
• 12:36
  So the notes I have. So Cooling grabs the hair of
• 12:43
  Saxa, kind of pulls her into the corner, almost kind of
• 12:49
  belittling her and thinking he's too good for her.
• 12:54
  Saxa however fights back with punches and a running uppercut,
• 12:59
  which was quite nice. We then see Saxa sending Cooling
• 13:05
  face first into the mat sling blade, but it was towards that
• 13:13
  kind of ballpark. Cooling effectively cools The
• 13:18
  Jets off on their opponent, takes the leg out of Saxa when
• 13:23
  she's running towards him, ends up with Saxa crashing and
• 13:28
  burning in the corner. Haley then grabs the arm and
• 13:34
  drops down off the ring apron yanking the arm and kind of like
• 13:40
  affecting the shoulder as well of their opponent and then sees
• 13:47
  Cooling hitting a neck breaker I believe using the ropes to do
• 13:53
  so. I couldn't see 100% on this
• 13:57
  because the referee was blocking me but it looked like it was a
• 14:00
  neck breaker off the ropes so that's what I'm sticking with.

  Cooling then focuses on the neck of their opponents and hits
• 14:10
  ADDT. Haley then walks the top rope
• 14:16
  almost Undertaker style, but Saxa causes them to fall,
• 14:21
  unbalancing them and to quote Spice Girls 2 became one as they
• 14:29
  collided with the top rope. In a sense at least.
• 14:35
  Tornado DDT. She does hit that tornado DDT
• 14:41
  quite sweetly. Every time I ever see her do it
• 14:46
  She then lines and then a code breaker.
• 14:53
  Attempts a sax 19 but Haley moves out the way, sees them
• 15:00
  then attempting to hit a spear on saxer and misses but they
• 15:06
  sees his opponent hitting a even bigger spear on them.

  Cooling goes back to the neck and focuses on that, tripping
• 15:19
  her up and hitting a short DDT. Haley then risks it all by
• 15:26
  coming off the top rope and burns.

  Saxa hits the things with a. It's almost like an angle slam
• 15:37
  in a sense, but I don't know what the movie is called.
• 15:43
  I have asked for clarification. I am still waiting.
• 15:47
  But yes, that sees Saxa picking up the victory.

  I really enjoyed this was a really good match.
• 15:59
  They had one very minor kind of like spot where I think it was a
• 16:07
  bit off, slightly miscommunication.

  That said, I particularly like wrestling not to feel too
• 16:17
  choreographed and this this looked like a genuine fight for
• 16:22
  a lot of this. And one thing I love a lot with
• 16:27
  wrestling is when a body part gets injured and the opponent
• 16:37
  focuses on that body part. And it makes so much sense.
• 16:44
  And it's why Miles and me have like watching Hayley cooling
• 16:49
  because everything they do makes so much sense.
• 16:55
  If you if someone has a leg injury, you target the IT stands
• 17:01
  to reason. And this made so much sense.
• 17:07
  Shoulder area, just it, it should not be difficult, but
• 17:16
  it's the most simplest thing really in wrestling and not
• 17:20
  everyone does it. That said, I really enjoyed this
• 17:25
  match. You know what?

  We'll we'll go with John first. What?

  What? What did you think of this,

  John? Yeah, that was a fine match for
• 17:39
  what it was. It's that's two shows in a row

  for me now where I was promised a league winter versus Saxa and
• 17:47
  it was not delivered. I do think they should have
• 17:50
  probably brought Mel Price out again for the last.
• 17:52
  That would have been because it's the running gag, I think.
• 17:56
  And I'm not really sure it's a good luck shock overall that
• 17:59
  they only had two women ready for the entire show, so it was
• 18:04
  hard to see where they would have gone from there.
• 18:06
  But I suppose Hayley Cooling is probably one of the few people
• 18:09
  there also who can take a pin like that and it not do them
• 18:12
  much damage because they didn't really have much Rep to begin
• 18:15
  with I suppose. And to to Hayley's credit, he
• 18:18
  played the role really well and got Sachser over with a really
• 18:22
  big win. So I suppose it all worked out
• 18:25
  in the end. Not really sure where you go
• 18:27
  with Sachs from here now. She got that big sort of
• 18:29
  babyface pop for the win, but I suppose that's for future to the
• 18:34
  side. What would you say to that?

  I'd say that this was a really fun match, and I've gone on
• 18:46
  record multiple times saying I think Fairfield should be fun.
• 18:51
  I don't subscribe to the McCarthy belief of every single
• 18:58
  future event Has to be the most serious thing ever.

  Of course there's a certain, you know, pay per views for that, as
• 19:07
  I like to call them. You know, the important ones.
• 19:09
  Bumps in the night dangerous. Live events I believe.
• 19:12
  Yeah, if they were still running in press, which I just call it
• 19:17
  the press, which live event the PLV will.
• 19:23
  But yeah, Fairfield, I think Fairfield dates, they can be.

  You know, I love goofy. You know I love goofy wrestling.

  And the fact that Haley Calling who has been described by Gorgon
• 19:36
  as top ten weird little guys. I saw that.

  I I really love seeing him wrestle and he I think it takes
• 19:49
  a lot to be like this serious gothic gimmick and still
• 19:59
  managing to in character. Be like, be the butt of the
• 20:04
  joke. Yeah, so it takes a lot for a
• 20:08
  wrestler to be able to bounce both, and I think he does.
• 20:10
  Though that being said, I would have found it really funny if
• 20:16
  Solomon came out and just stood in front of Saxa.

  But then again, I don't think the match would have been as
• 20:28
  good just because of the size imbalance.

  Yeah. And I don't mind the fact that

  there was only two women available to work because, you
• 20:38
  know, people, you know, they don't have have to force to be
• 20:46
  worked anywhere. You know, if they've got
• 20:50
  bookings, they're not going to hang around a show they're not

  booked on for just in case someone gets injured, you know
• 20:56
  what I mean? So we're just whoever were
• 20:58
  there. The, the only thought I had on

  that was was this going to lead into possibly someone from like
• 21:08
  the performing centre debuting like a female wrestler?

  Because I thought would they go down that not necessarily a

  horde member, but would they just bring someone in because

  it's, I think you can get away with this on a I think you could

  get away with it on a Fairfield show.

  I will say. They did say Lily has an injury

  to which we will pray for a speedy recovery.

  that because she she was doing the social media on the show the

  future shop apart before is so going to I get in the ring.

  was Holly Barlow at the 20th anniversary show.

  So that was, I was still kind of expecting it until we had an

  and still even then I was thinking oh God are they

  debuting as a member of the horde?

  Yes. That would be 6 horde members

  now because we're wild. Because it was when the Horde

  music played, everyone had this lock on the festive to say

  there's no female member in the Horde.

  And we're thinking is, are we going to get like A tag match or

  something or or some weird Saxa? Joins the Horde.

  Yeah, Are they going to have Gorgon come out and saying Saxa

  better. We got a really good match which

  I enjoyed, even if John maybe didn't.

  little match, which was Northwest Strong, Chris Ridgway

  and Teddy Ray taking on John and his.

  I've put the reports of a certain person's death were

  greatly exaggerated. Fresh from death, Brian Strong

  is back. Back from the grave.

  Straight out of the morgue. Yeah, out of the morgue and in

  the ring. So notes on the match.

  We start with John and Teddy Ray being very cordial and shaking

  hands. And while they're shaking hands,

  the crowd wanted them to kiss. They came very close, but then

  pulled away. Sure.

  He just looked bemused by what was going on, saying why are you

  shaking hands with him? And then the fans wanted Chris

  to shake John's hand. Ridgeway begrudgingly does this

  and then Yanks his arm shoulder first into the corner to get

  this match underway. Northwest Strong take over on

  poor John, Ridgway booting John in the back and the look of pain

  because I'll be honest, I don't want to take any moves or kicks

  from Ridgway because even if they don't hurt, they sound
• 25:12
  horrifying. They then target the left leg of
• 25:19
  John, a dragon screw vintage Ridgeway.

  We have submission holes and then Ridgeway wraps John's leg
• 25:31
  around the ring post twice knocking Craig out the way
• 25:36
  twice. He was sat on front row to which
• 25:42
  I will put a pin in the match at this point.

  So the setup we had on Sunday on one side of the ring is normally

  one row. They put 2 rows in and the last

  time I was almost brushing my knees up against a ring.

  I'm probably going back to catch at the Deaf Institute last year.

  Of course, if anyone has been to catch at red arches, you could

  almost just rest and put your feet up on the ring.

  I think Jeebus rested his pint on the ring at one point to like

  get settled in. Oh, Stevie would have.

  Yeah, Stevie definitely would have.

  But yeah, it was interesting watching, trying to watch both

  and the editor and Alfie doing photography, dashing around in a
• 26:49
  kind of Zoidberg from Futurama esque, like trying to get a

  picture or get in a good position to film something.

  To which Stevie was crapping himself a few times.

  To which he told me and Lindsay of I'm not liking it when they

  come over here because he could fall through the ropes.

  And I'd said to him, oh, don't worry, Stevie, they won't come

  out here. And then I think we had Ray come

  over, nearly hit us. Ridgeway nearly hit us.

  Yeah, I thought that was all we actually had in this match at

  least. So let me just take the pin out
• 27:40
  of that now and carry on. Ridgway baits Brian Strong to
• 27:45
  come into the ring. While he has John in all sorts
• 27:50
  of bava at this point, he's Everage to add pressure to the
• 27:58
  knee of John. We then see John hitting an
• 28:02
  unconventional move of having Chris in a running bulldog, but
• 28:09
  then clotheslines Teddy Ray at the same time.
• 28:15
  Big Daddy Brian Strong gets the big tag clotheslines and
• 28:22
  splashes his opponents then hits a beautiful looking powerbomb on
• 28:28
  Ridgeway. It definitely played to the the
• 28:33
  term Strong Brian then but misses.
• 28:41
  Ray then hits an elbow drop on Strung from the top rope.
• 28:48
  John looks to hit a suplex on Ray, but as he kind of has him
• 28:54
  almost vertical, Ridgway very quickly grabs the leg of John
• 29:00
  causing him to tumble like a tree and this leads to him
• 29:05
  hitting a penalty kick into the chest of John.
• 29:10
  Poor John. John is then tormented as he is
• 29:14
  put in an ankle lock. This leads to Teddy Ray trying
• 29:23
  to get into the ring. The ankle of John at this point
• 29:27
  looks very deformed due to the amount of twisting that Ridgway
• 29:32
  was doing. Plus John's boots was seemingly
• 29:37
  coming off a lot as well. We thought they were going to do
• 29:41
  the the Eddie Guerrero spot at one point just due to all the
• 29:45
  the laces had completely come out.
• 29:50
  Which is a mini spoiler. But he then sees strong
• 29:54
  launching Ray into Chris. He releases the ankle lock on
• 30:00
  the outside. Brian grows grabs.
• 30:05
  He can't decide if he was going to throw him into the post or
• 30:11
  the wall. Teddy manages to kind of get out
• 30:16
  of dodge and push Brian Head first into the ring post which
• 30:22
  captain pretty much rules him out for the rest of the match.

  This leads to Northwest Strong hitting a double team with
• 30:33
  Ridgway dropping John into the path of a Teddy Ray knee.
• 30:40
  And that is all she wrote as Northwest Strong.

  Take the victory. Sam, what were your thoughts on

  this? So going in, I will like are we
• 30:58
  going to get a Franken team because no tag team has been
• 31:02
  announced or as A tag team in the debut straight from the PC,
• 31:07
  you know, because just seemed weird not to announce tag team.

  And then again, and I also said because I thought this was going
• 31:16
  to be Nadjong returning because John was on the poster, but he
• 31:22
  was the only one not to get a graphic for this show
• 31:29
  beforehand. So I were like, John's probably
• 31:31
  getting team up with AJ again because that's established team.

  So when I then saw the but each other LA going by, I knew I knew
• 31:47
  exactly who it was, but it didn't clock in my brain because
• 31:53
  I thought, oh, it's Briak coming out.
• 31:57
  And then because everyone, no one's seen Brian in about 27
• 32:03
  years, no one knew he was still alive, you know?
• 32:07
  When he passed, Vegas does to people, he's.
• 32:11
  Just been, He's just been living fear and loathing in Las Vegas
• 32:14
  for the past 27 years and they're able to get out.
• 32:22
  So yeah. So it's everyone's joy the
• 32:25
  they've returned from the dead. And so at that, at that point, I
• 32:34
  just the match just went off of fumes for me because I didn't
• 32:39
  really pay attention much to it because I was just like, Oh my
• 32:41
  God, it's John. And John.
• 32:44
  I love how over Johnny's and then it was just funny seeing
• 32:51
  all the people who didn't know that Brian had died come back to
• 32:57
  like being confused by I think because because before I knew
• 33:01
  this was going on, I'd be getting people to champ
• 33:03
  Northwest strong on my side because I was doing claps and
• 33:07
  they were joining in and John looked over and they were like,
• 33:11
  stop it. Because I've been getting people
• 33:14
  to think Northwest strong was the the good guys because they
• 33:19
  haven't done anything to healers yet.
• 33:24
  I will say from what I I will say from what I remember, it was
• 33:28
  a good match again, the kind of what Hayley calling did in his
• 33:36
  match, Ridgeway, the king of targeting A singular joint
• 33:42
  throughout the entire match. So, and I like, I like how we've
• 33:47
  seen gimmicks accidentally fall where we're seeing Teddy Ray
• 33:56
  with his handshake gimmick because he did that to Tony.
• 33:59
  So it's just kind of like every match, Teddy Ray has to shake
• 34:02
  the guy's hand and it's all Willy, buy em Willy, you know,
• 34:06
  be friendly. And then John teaming with
• 34:09
  anyone he can find. There was one spot in the match
• 34:14
  where Ridgway does the biting that Teddy Ray normally does and
• 34:20
  then it immediately just starts spitting feathers again, almost
• 34:25
  as if to say how do you do this every much.
• 34:27
  This is disgusting. Because of all the hair on John,
• 34:30
  Yes. And then Teddy Ray does it later
• 34:33
  on. But it's the thing that I love
• 34:37
  about Northwest Strong is they are meant to be like a serious,
• 34:44
  dangerous trio that you do not want to mess with.
• 34:49
  But they still have this. I don't know how to describe it.
• 34:55
  It's it's not it has a slight comedic, very thin comedic theme
• 35:04
  that runs through them. Whether it's been wanting to get
• 35:08
  like new, kind of like, I don't want to say Titan Tron truck
• 35:13

  a big easy to understand gimmick mostly nailed down, and he also

  So he's more self success than a lot of the other rooks we've got

  so far. And yeah, Drake getting a bit of

  a dirty pin for the win gives CJ a nice bit of like face sympathy
