- 0:05The New York Mets lost both star closer Edwin Diaz and star first
- 0:10baseman Pete Alonzo the free agency during this week's winter
- 0:13meetings and what fans in New York media are calling an
- 0:16absolute disaster. Apparently, Uncle Stevie's money
- 0:19is no longer good enough if David Stearns is even offering
- 0:22it. What will Stearns and the Masons
- 0:24do to stop the bleeding, and will it be enough?
- 0:27A bizarre developing story out of Michigan as Wolverines head
- 0:31coach Sharon Moore has been fired and arrested by police for
- 0:34apparently having an appropriate relationship that's turned ugly
- 0:37with a staffer that's so bad that details are only just
- 0:40coming out. Now the sanctioned and embattled
- 0:43program takes another big hit, only two seasons removed from a
- 0:46national championship win. Can they survive yet another
- 0:49scandal, one that likely we only know the tip of the iceberg
- 0:52about? And before we crack a six pack
- 0:55with Speedy and make some Week 15 NFL picks, we will dive deep
- 0:59on the quarterback catastrophe in Indy and the return of 44
- 1:03year old Philip Rivers to the Colts as their once promising
- 1:07playoff hopes are now on life support.
- 1:10Here on yet another all gas, no brakes, Wheeling and dealing,
- 1:15styling and profiling live Thursday night edition of Jabba.
- 1:20And the man a significant you're.
- 1:24Going to have a ton of money to spend, why not put it in one of

- 1:39Judge. And saying that he can't.
- 1:40Win the big game, Michael Jordan said.
- 1:43I. Played 82 games you don't see
- 1:45the fun doing. That a game where you got to go.
- 1:48Before. I told you, giant feet, Saquon

- 3:43It has been a crazy, crazy week and it's been on and off.
- 3:47We had a little bit of rain. We're supposed to get a lot of
- 3:49snow this weekend on Sunday and Monday into Monday we could be
- 3:54hit with five to seven inches of snow.
- 3:58I've been hearing how. How is it over there in the one
- 4:01and only Nebraska? We're we're actually we're, it
- 4:05was like 50°, but we're going to get like, I think the high that
- 4:09we're going to have on the weekend, I think is 16 on
- 4:13Saturday and like 22 on Sunday. But we, we have no snow, which
- 4:19I'm I'm, I will take and I don't like, I don't mind the snow.
- 4:26It's the ice that gets me. Like when we get that like black
- 4:29ice and stuff like that, Gosh that, I mean, it just, it
- 4:32stinks. And especially like, so we're in
- 4:34like a new development like in in our neighborhood and they're
- 4:38the last like we're the last ones to like get anything.
- 4:42So it's like all the construction, like everybody's
- 4:45like coming to work and doing all their stuff, right.
- 4:48So they just like basically matted down.
- 4:50And then when the actual like people come through with the
- 4:53plows and everything, basically they're just pushing it down and
- 4:57it's just it, it's, it's bad, it's rough.
- 5:00Like it's literally an ice skating rink.
- 5:02I was, I met, I was going to check the mail and I don't know
- 5:06how y'all do it in Long Island, but like we have to walk to the
- 5:09mailbox. They don't have them.
- 5:11Just out front. And I saw my FedEx guy and he
- 5:16literally slid half a block and stopped like right in front of
- 5:21my driveway and he goes watch this.
- 5:23He put it in gear and just slid to the next house.
- 5:26So, so you guys have mailboxes at like really deep at the end
- 5:31of your driveway, is that where it?
- 5:32Is or like in in no, in like the in the development like there's
- 5:37the big box. See, we don't have long
- 5:41driveways because land is so expensive here in Long Island.
- 5:45It depends on the area. It could be a cul-de-sac.
- 5:48I actually live on a cul-de-sac. So everybody, yeah, very rich.
- 5:53So they're the houses are ridiculous over here where I'm
- 5:58from. And it's weird because you do
- 6:01have to go to the end of your driveway, but it.
- 6:05Sucks. And then two, it's like, yeah,
- 6:07sometimes 2 and like you're walking to it.
- 6:09It's like you got to like do this to make sure you don't bust
- 6:13your ass. Get the middle.
- 6:15It does get bad and we haven't had snow.
- 6:19I think we've had one snowstorm every year and it, it doesn't
- 6:23really get that bad. I think last year we had a 10
- 6:25inch storm and it pretty much got washed away the next day.
- 6:28So we've haven't, we haven't had back-to-back storms in a while.
- 6:32And this might be the coldest fall we've ever had.
- 6:36I don't remember a, a fall that we hit in the teens over the
- 6:39last three or four years. It's, it's crazy.
- 6:42It last year at this time it was at some point it was 6570° and
- 6:47now it's like. But that's the that's the same
- 6:50thing here. Like we're so bipolar too.
- 6:52Where it's like. It's going to be 16 and 22° and
- 6:57then it's going to be 55 on Monday and Tuesday.
- 7:00That's crazy. I don't think it's I, we've been
- 7:04really, I think the hottest, the, the hottest it's ever been
- 7:09was about 4548 I, it's to me and, and I don't think that's
- 7:13cold at all, actually. No, I love them.
- 7:16I mean, Carter, catch you outside.
- 7:17I don't know if you guys saw it on this Twitter or whatever, but
- 7:19Carter and I, we went outside when it was it was literally
- 7:22like 40°. Yeah, I like that weather.
- 7:24I it's cool. You could take once you sweat,
- 7:26you take off your shirt, you're not going to catch a pneumonia
- 7:28or a cold. But once it gets into the the
- 7:32the low 30s into the 20s, if you're wearing, if you're not
- 7:36wearing a. Sweatshirt or something.
- 7:37It's different like, but even, even even cartoons like so cart
- 7:41comes in and he had, he had worked out in the morning and
- 7:45then came home and we played catch, did all of our other
- 7:47stuff. And then all of a sudden he
- 7:50comes in and he like comes upstairs out of his room and
- 7:52he's like, dad, I lost an earring and I'm like, like, did
- 7:59you check your room? Did you check anything?
- 8:01And probably went down the drain.
- 8:05So then of course, what does dad do?
- 8:07Dad goes to the store and gets him freaking new pair of
- 8:10earrings and I'm like, I'm not getting you nice ones.
- 8:13Yeah, because this is exactly what happens.
- 8:16I you're going to lose. You're going to lose them or
- 8:19like something's going to fall out.
- 8:20And I'm like, no, I'm not doing that.
- 8:21And like, you know, in the holidays, like, yeah, you're a
- 8:26present giver. Then you like, I can't wait.
- 8:29I suck at it. I suck.
- 8:32So you just. So you just give the presents
- 8:34before the holidays even come? I suck Errol.
- 8:37I am not good at it. I am not good.
- 8:41I'm in fish. I love you top of the closet.
- 8:45No, because I'm still going to see it.
- 8:47And then I'm, I know when I go in the closet like I'm, I'm
- 8:50going like I, I, it makes me so happy and I know it's going to
- 8:56make you guys happy. Like and I want, and I don't
- 8:59need a holiday to give a gift, right?
- 9:02No, but it just, it makes me so happy and it's like, I can't, I
- 9:07can't wait. And it's literally I get yelled
- 9:10at all the time. Like you just need to wait.
- 9:13You need to wait, you need to do this.
- 9:14And like, but I have to tell somebody when I'm super excited
- 9:18about getting somebody a gift, right?
- 9:20Like and I have all of you guys as gifts and I'm like, I'm just
- 9:24waiting and I'm like, like, I just want to send them.
- 9:30Really. You got a gift for me now.
- 9:33Now you got me. Now me.
- 9:34Now you got me. Wondering what you got me?
- 9:36I it's probably it's probably a picture of your middle finger
- 9:40and you signed it. Go F yourself.
- 9:41That's that's. Probably something to show you
- 9:43how Itati related. I could see that I I could
- 9:52definitely or a bobble head with you know, he got specially made
- 9:56for me with his middle finger up at me signed by Java.
- 10:03But it's funny you mentioning here.
- 10:05I lost my earring the other day and I had expensive diamond
- 10:08earrings and I ripped apart my bed.
- 10:11I had Brittany wake up and I'm like, get up.
- 10:13It might be under you. I can't find it.
- 10:15It's it's and it's a it's a big diamond and I finally.
- 10:19Found the same thing and he wanted those and like and I get
- 10:22him like his. His graduation gift was
- 10:25literally Jacob the jeweler did one.
- 10:29Like so he has a diamond pendant and everything like a dog tag
- 10:33and it's all wrapped in diamonds.
- 10:35I think I have that too. I think I I had something made
- 10:37years ago on that, but I don't even know where I what I did
- 10:39with it. But and but I'm like card no,
- 10:43like I'm not like you're now like in a different realm, like
- 10:47I'm not going to buy you expensive earrings because
- 10:49exactly just what happened. I agree with you.
- 10:53Earrings. Jewelry.
- 10:55Are you a sunglasses person? Oh, are you kidding me?
- 10:59So anybody that knows me, I'm a collector, so I actually.
- 11:03Have you know that you know that?
- 11:05I have two pairs. I, I, by the way, I bought the
- 11:07Ray Ban Meta glasses. I have two pairs of those.
- 11:10So I and everybody. Hold on, which ones?
- 11:14And and I think Carter's watching a show or not.
- 11:17I'm not sure. Yeah, but I'm getting him
- 11:20something like that. Did you get the the transition
- 11:22lens ones those? Are the new ones.
- 11:25Those are the twos. I'm not ready to get the twos
- 11:27because usually when they come out there's always a flaw in
- 11:30them, so I wanted to wait until next.
- 11:32Year we'll get you get the Gen. ones or the Gen. twos.
- 11:36I have the I have two of the Gen. ones, so and I like I like
- 11:41them by the way, the meta meta glasses and the only difference
- 11:44between the the meta 2 and the meta ones is the new ones.
- 11:49It's 8 hours. You can actually use it for 8
- 11:52hours before the battery dies. The new the old ones, it's 4
- 11:54hours. But really every single thing
- 11:57that the metal ones have, the meta twos have it.
- 12:00There's very little additional things.
- 12:02Now there is the display glasses that came out, which are extra
- 12:05expensive and I and people, you have to go to the store and pick
- 12:10them up. You can't order them online.
- 12:12They do not sell them online unless you.
- 12:14Go. You actually have to go in and
- 12:16like do all this stuff to like see them, right?
- 12:19Yep, Yep. And I I'm not.
- 12:21Doing we're not we're not as big as you guys here obviously in
- 12:24Nebraska, like we have like one place that will do that and like
- 12:29it's I think they're when I thought about it because I
- 12:33obviously I wanted to get them, but it's like, oh, it's probably
- 12:37like 6 months away and I'm like, I don't, I like getting stuff
- 12:43immediately so. Do I?
- 12:46Well, and that's, that's the crappy part about now.
- 12:48It's like everybody's ordering everything off Amazon and I
- 12:51can't get it. Like usually it's next day and
- 12:53like I can't get it for like 3 or 4 days and it makes me mad.
- 12:56It takes forever and and with the holidays and and again, the
- 13:00meta meta ones, meta twos, if you have them, they're awesome.
- 13:04Anybody that's ever tried them, you pretty much tell it what to
- 13:07do and it'll it'll find it'll it tells you the weather tells you,
- 13:10it'll tell you the directions. So tell me how to get here and
- 13:12it'll tell you word for word how to make a right, make a left.
- 13:15It's it's fantastic. Is that where you were trying to
- 13:17show your friend Ray? Yes, before your party.
- 13:19Yes, yes, I was. I was teaching Ray how to use
- 13:23the metal ones, so I have. 2 metal ones before we get in the
- 13:27show. Was there was there one thing
- 13:29like I always remember like a white Christmas?
- 13:33I remember the one the one time and it correlated with being a
- 13:37white Christmas for me. Yes, and it was I got a Sega was
- 13:41was there one like Christmas that you remember when you got
- 13:44something that you didn't expect or like anything and everybody
- 13:48can jump in on this. So it's funny, it's funny.
- 13:51I celebrated Hanukkah and Christmas.
- 13:53So on my father's family, I celebrated Hanukkah and Hanukkah
- 13:57was like 8 days and eight nights.
- 13:59You get 8 presents on different days and Christmas, What my
- 14:02mom's family, you celebrate it one day, your Christmas Eve and
- 14:06Christmas, you know, Christmas morning.
- 14:08So I got a chance to celebrate both holidays.
- 14:12So I had like extra gifts and all this other stuff with the
- 14:16family. But I there is not one present
- 14:19that I actually there is one I always loved.
- 14:21Family matters. So the Urkel doll came out.
- 14:25Remember the Urkel got any cheese?
- 14:27Remember that? So that thing came out and I
- 14:29really wanted the Urkel doll. So my parents got me the Urkel
- 14:32and that that year those dolls went like hot cakes.
- 14:37Remember the what are what are those Furbies or whatever the
- 14:39hell they they came out when the Furbies came out.
- 14:42That thing I remember when the Furbies came out where you
- 14:45couldn't get a Furby, you had to like special order it and you
- 14:48wouldn't get it for months after the holidays.
- 14:50So that was probably the the one president I always remembered
- 14:56when I got it because that was the one thing I seriously wanted
- 15:00and my parents made sure I had it.
- 15:01But there was never. How about you, Speedy?
- 15:03You remember any? Well, yeah, probably the most
- 15:05significant one, because I ended up having it for a while, was
- 15:08one of the first PSPS that came out at the time because there
- 15:11was a kid I used to be the handheld.
- 15:13PSP. Yes, the handheld one there was
- 15:14always one of my friends at this program I used to do was always
- 15:17playing it in the, in the while we were waiting and it was like
- 15:20the thing that opened at 5:00 or something.
- 15:23So I was always watching him play at Jabba.
- 15:24He was also, he was a big Yankees fan too.
- 15:26So he was always playing with the with the Yankees.
- 15:29If he was playing the MLB the show game, he played other games
- 15:30too. So I always wanted out of those.
- 15:32And then I had it actually, I actually played it like for a
- 15:35while, I actually built this Madden franchise where I I
- 15:37controlled literally everything in it.
- 15:38So I ended up playing it for a long time after that, but like,
- 15:42I had a year. Spit it out A.
- 15:45Year into it I put the disk in wrong too so I had to repair it
- 15:48at GameStop too and it took a while and I was so devastated.
- 15:51It's Speedy. If you ask him to say something,
- 15:54he tells a whole story about it. But I always asked you, is it,
- 15:58do you remember a present? We don't care what you did with
- 16:01it, how you used it and what what year you.
- 16:05Have job with like the Yankees. Yeah, but we didn't care.
- 16:08We have a show to do. I didn't.
- 16:09I don't really don't care what you did with it.
- 16:12How about you? You know, poops, Is there a gift
- 16:15that you remember? So I guess similar to Speedy, I
- 16:17remember what is it? I had a Nintendo DS.
- 16:20That was when the DS is kind of first came out.
- 16:22Remember having the Super Mario Bros, Mario Party, a bunch of
- 16:25other games, but I was a huge Mario guy, so that was pretty
- 16:28dope. Pretty cool getting that for the
- 16:32first time. That was the first time I ever
- 16:33saw those handheld too so. Have you?
- 16:35Have you? Seen.
- 16:36Have you seen the real life like Mario Kart stuff that people are
- 16:39doing? Yes, yes.
- 16:40No real life Mario Kart like are you just talking about?
- 16:42Making all the meta, of course, the meta, the meta stuff that
- 16:45you can like actually go into the game and.
- 16:47It's like. Nuts.
- 16:48Yeah. Yeah, they have that.
- 16:50And how about you fish before we go?
- 16:52I know you're a Hanukkah guy. Is there a president that pops
- 16:55in mind for you, my friend, that you could remember that really
- 17:00stuck out to you when you were a kid?
- 17:02No, not really. I got the PS1, I think when it
- 17:06first came out in 97 with the Star Wars game.
- 17:11That was just the coolest thing ever when it first came out.
- 17:14And then there was like a Fifth Element game, if you remember
- 17:17the Fifth Element movie, that that game was like pretty fun
- 17:21too. But I just remember like the
- 17:22very beginning of the PlayStation series.
- 17:24I was, I've been a PlayStation guy ever since I've probably got
- 17:28in Playstation's like 2 on the holidays.
- 17:32Like we, you know, we don't really didn't like do the 8 days
- 17:34of presents. My brother and I would just be
- 17:36like, just give us the system and a game and we're good for
- 17:40the the holidays. Just add them all up together.
- 17:42We don't need socks, we don't need clothes, you know, because
- 17:45it's not the same. It's not.
- 17:46Christmas, I'm still I'm still I'm still a socks dad.
- 17:49Like I'm still like I got one. I got one for Carter.
- 17:53That's literally it says like the the Star Wars thing.
- 17:56And obviously this goes back to you, Errol.
- 18:00And I got it says like Luke, I'm your father, whatever.
- 18:03And I got that for Carter for his stockings.
- 18:06Well, I everybody knows I'm a die hard Star Wars fan and, and
- 18:10we were talking about what is Nathan look like?
- 18:12And we were talking about an Ewok.
- 18:14So if anybody hasn't seen Star Wars, the Ewoks were.
- 18:17So if you ever see one of these furry little things running
- 18:19around during Comic Con and it looks like a weird little thing,
- 18:23it's it's probably Nathan's. Family Errol.
- 18:25Actually, I just got a better picture of what Nathan looks.
- 18:29Like before we go, here we go. There we go.
- 18:32You know, Nathan really is someone who cares.
- 18:35And we know Nathan cares, you know, mostly, you know, about
- 18:41specific people, but is that you know?
- 18:46Something like that. Nathan is just one of the most
- 18:55caring people that's ever been and I just wanted to throw put
- 18:58it out there that people should know about the caring of Nathan.
- 19:01No, he's a cat before we got started.
- 19:04That's so great. That's still good.
- 19:08But it's a lot of baseball today because the New York Mets look
- 19:12like a bunch of fools. The Winter Meetings that ended
- 19:17Wednesday could not have gone worse for the New York Mets
- 19:20before the conference in Orlando was done.
- 19:24They lost both star closer Edwin Diaz and All Star Silver Slugger
- 19:29first baseman Pete Alonso, ESP. NS Jeff Passan reports that the
- 19:33Los Angeles Dodgers have signed Edwin Diaz to a three-year, $69
- 19:38million deal. The deal is the largest ever
- 19:41foreclosure and was almost 5 million more per year than his
- 19:47previous deal with the New York Mets.
- 19:50Pasan added that the Mets never told Diaz that they were signing
- 19:55Devin Williams last week and that frustrated him.
- 19:59Diaz had a 1.63 ERAA, 0.87 WHIP, 98 strikeouts and 28 saves last
- 20:08season. Pasan also reports that the
- 20:10Baltimore Orioles have signed Pete Alonzo to A5 year and
- 20:14$155,000,000 deal. The deal is worth 31,000,000
- 20:19per. Year.
- 20:20The largest average annual value in Orioles history.
- 20:25ESPN reports that the Mets never even gave Pete Alonzo an offer
- 20:30this offseason, simply allowing the polar bear to leave Queens
- 20:35for nothing. Alonzo had a 272 batting
- 20:38average, 38 home runs and 126 RB is last season for the New York
- 20:46Mets. You know, Mets fans are very
- 20:49upset. And who are they pointing
- 20:52fingers at? Are they pointing fingers at
- 20:54David Stearns? Are they pointing fingers at
- 20:58Uncle Stevie? Uncle Stevie, he's has a
- 21:02boatload of money. He's the richest owner in
- 21:04professional sports. The guys got money growing out
- 21:07of his ass and I believe that I and I honestly believe that
- 21:11because last year I think he made a billion dollars in his
- 21:14hedge fund. So we all know Uncle Stevie is
- 21:16not going to be shy when it comes to flashing his money and
- 21:21spending his money because he just gave Juan Soto last year
- 21:2568,000,000 a year. But the fact here is Pete Alonso
- 21:29the polar bear has been the face of the New York Mets.
- 21:33And ever since Jacob degrom decided to part ways and go to
- 21:36Texas, the Mets haven't had a home grown player of this
- 21:39magnitude, A guy that really stood for something, a guy that
- 21:43took away his social medias. He didn't want to be a part of
- 21:47the social media market because he wanted to show the Mets that
- 21:50he really, really cared. And he didn't want to get
- 21:52involved in the conversations that were going behind the
- 21:56scenes when it was when the Mets were being a laughingstock of
- 22:00the league. But when you think about it and
- 22:03you understand where the Mets are as an organization, they
- 22:07were promised, the fans were promised five years ago when
- 22:11Uncle Stevie took over for the Wilpons that they're going to be
- 22:14champions, that he will do anything to make this team a
- 22:17champion. And last year, really putting
- 22:20all his money, all his, what do they call it, these shekels into
- 22:26that basket, you would think that this wasn't, this wasn't
- 22:32Hanukkah, this wasn't Christmas, this was all out New York Mets
- 22:36wanting to win a championship. And going into this offseason,
- 22:40everybody said, where do they go?
- 22:42Do they sign Edwin Diaz and do they sign Pete Alonso and add a
- 22:45school bowl or a somebody of that magnitude to make this team
- 22:50better or maybe even bring in another player like Cody
- 22:53Bellinger to really make this team have the line up with the
- 22:57depth that they expect to win a championship?
- 22:59They traded Brandon, IMO. A lot of people like that move.
- 23:03And then when you thought about Edwin Diaz and Pete Alonso, it
- 23:06was almost a shoe in after the after they traded Brandon, IMO.
- 23:10But it wasn't. It wasn't so.
- 23:12And Edwin Diaz, a lot of stories were coming out with the Dodgers
- 23:16that he wanted to play with his brother Alexis.
- 23:18And Alexis obviously came from the Cincinnati organization.
- 23:22He's now, I think he would, if I'm not mistaken, he signed or
- 23:24he was traded with the Dodgers last year.
- 23:26He played for the Dodgers last year.
- 23:28He's there again. And there were conversations
- 23:31that Edwin wanted to go and play with his brother.
- 23:34So a lot of people believe that was one of the things that
- 23:37persuaded him to go play for the Dodgers.
- 23:40But then you hear their story about Devin Williams, that the
- 23:42Mets did not go to Edwin Diaz and tell him that they're going
- 23:46to sign Devin Williams. That could have pissed him off.
- 23:49I don't know what is true and what is not.
- 23:51What I do know right now is the Mets and the organization looks
- 23:55really, really bad because the team as a whole and the Mets
- 24:00fans who think that they were all in on this season, that
- 24:03being that there's this is a strike year after this year
- 24:07there there could be a strike for baseball.
- 24:10You would think that the Mets are going to go all in to win a
- 24:12championship because we don't know what's going to happen with
- 24:14baseball the year after. But guess what?
- 24:17The Mets lose their star player, Pete Alonso.
- 24:20They lose their star closer. They go to two different
- 24:23organizations, the Orioles, who never spend money at all.
- 24:26As you see, this is the highest contract when it comes to deals
- 24:31per year that the Orioles have ever given a player.
- 24:34Think about the Orioles have been around forever.
- 24:37Peter Alonso is the biggest contract they've ever given to a
- 24:40player. And that to me tells me that the
- 24:43Mets do not know what they're doing.
- 24:45Because I was talking to a bunch of Mets fans and they were
- 24:47saying, what is it going to get? What's going to get done to get
- 24:51Peter Alonso to sign back with the Mets?
- 24:52And I said $200 million. That's where I see Pete Alonso.
- 24:55Because we all know Scott Boris is his own, is his agent.
- 24:59And we all know that the Mets are going to do what Pete Alonso
- 25:04and Scott Boris are going to do, whatever it takes to get as much
- 25:06money as they possibly can. But when you hear this contract,
- 25:09five years, 155,000,000, he only made $1,000,000 more than Kyle
- 25:14Schwarber, who took a little bit less after having a season that
- 25:17he had an MVP season last year. You would have thought that the
- 25:20Mets were all in on a contract like this.
- 25:22This is a slam dunk for the New York Mets, and the Mets just
- 25:27completely wash their hands with Pete Alonso that quick.
- 25:31The polar bear is gone. Sayonara, Rub his belly.
- 25:34Wash them out. Dry them out.
- 25:36I don't know what the hell the Mets are doing right now.
- 25:38The organization looks completely bad.
- 25:41And now what are the Mets going to do?
- 25:42Are they going to go all in on Cody Bellinger?
- 25:44Is he that much better than Pete Alonso, A homegrown player?
- 25:48Are you going to go all out on Kyle Tucker?
- 25:51Are you going to bet that Kyle Tucker is going to choose the
- 25:53Mets out of all the teams that including the Dodgers that are
- 25:56interested in bringing them in, or the Yankees?
- 25:59Why would he go to the Nets and then the the Tarek Scubal Scubal
- 26:03thing? Or are the Mets willing to give
- 26:06up all their prospects because you know Detroit is going to do
- 26:09whatever it takes to grab whatever they can from the New
- 26:12York Mets to get this deal done? And are they going to overpay to
- 26:16get Tarek? It doesn't make it.
- 26:18And the Mets are in a bad spot right now.
- 26:21And the Yankees, with how Steinbrenner coming out like he
- 26:23did a couple of weeks ago and saying and pointing his finger
- 26:26at the Dodgers in the league and money this and money that, I
- 26:29think Uncle Stevie looks bad. You know why?
- 26:32Because Uncle Stevie's all about bringing in a casino.
- 26:35He's getting it approved. And is it, Is this the reason
- 26:38why he wanted to buy the Mets? Was this the reason why he
- 26:42wanted the Mets really strictly to get a casino into Queens and
- 26:47him to get even richer? Because to me, as much as he's
- 26:50invested billions and billions of dollars into this
- 26:53organization, it looks really, really bad when your face, your
- 26:57player, your homegrown player goes to another team.
- 27:01What I would say about 100 miles away from you, a team that
- 27:06doesn't like to spend, a team that is not expected to win next
- 27:10year because they don't have the pitching on their roster.
- 27:13He go. He decides to go there instead
- 27:15of staying with the Mets where he has a chance to win a World
- 27:18Series. It makes no sense.
- 27:20The Mets look really, really bad.
- 27:22And any Mets fan sitting here today that is going to make
- 27:25excuses for the Mets on this deal.
- 27:27David Stearns should be fired after this year.
- 27:30If this doesn't and he goes all in on Kyle Tucker or even bring
- 27:35in Cody Bellinger and Kyle Tucker and get Tarik Skubal.
- 27:39And if, if this goes to to crap, it goes there wherever it's
- 27:43going to go. I, I, David Stearns should be
- 27:46absolutely fine. I don't care how close he is
- 27:49with the fact that he's Uncle Stevie's best friend.
- 27:51I don't care. This looks really, really bad
- 27:53because this guy grew up a Mets fan and I'm talking about David
- 27:57Stearns. He wanted this job and now
- 27:59you're hearing that the Milwaukee, but the Milwaukee
- 28:02Brewers, a lot of the players didn't like David Stearns.
- 28:05That David Stearns was really weighed out his welcome over
- 28:08there and he goes to the Mets and Mets fans were so excited.
- 28:11Oh, we got the best GM and the best GM just gave away.
- 28:17Gave away the best closer in baseball and arguably one of the
- 28:21best power hitters in baseball. Makes no sense.
- 28:23Yeah, David Stern was brought in to get the process kind of
- 28:27middled between what the Mets did previously with Billy and
- 28:31Eppler, as we, as we call them, get overpaying Max shares or
- 28:34overpaying Marte and Verlander and all those other guys that
- 28:37did not work out over here. And David Stearns is coming in
- 28:40with the process of we're going to develop like the Brewers.
- 28:43They need the middle ground to work and that's why they brought
- 28:46him in. But if this middle ground is
- 28:47nitpicking over 3,000,000 for Edwin.
- 28:50Diaz but. Speedy.
- 28:51Too speedy. When you say that too, think
- 28:53about like I, I retired with the Brewers and got a little bit of
- 28:59experience. Like, do you do you think he
- 29:02tried to take that mentality from the Brewers to the Mets?
- 29:06When you have an owner that's going to spend like you, you
- 29:09can't take that mentality, can you?
- 29:10Well, that's what I'm saying. I think the middle ground of
- 29:13what that mentality was supposed to be with the Brewers, I don't
- 29:15really think has been adapted to from the pitching standpoint
- 29:18especially. And when you look at Edwin Diaz,
- 29:21yeah, David Stearns made a similar move with Josh Hader,
- 29:24traded Josh Hader to the Padres in 2022, and then obviously he
- 29:27signed a big contract with the Astros since then, trusting the
- 29:29Brewers bullpen process to make that kind of thing work.
- 29:32The difference is the Brewers bullpen process even before
- 29:35Stearns got there was always good.
- 29:37They trade, they traded Josh Hader, Josh Hader, Corey Knable
- 29:41was the closer when Josh Hader came up and they had other good
- 29:43relievers in the past. Before that they brought in K
- 29:45Rod when they had John Axford there and it was a still a good
- 29:48system. The Mets have never had a good
- 29:49system of relief pitchers. The Mets on their World Series
- 29:52team finally got some good guys with Addison Reed, they traded
- 29:55for Tyler Clipper. They made that kind of thing
- 29:56work. Ever since then they have still
- 29:58been a mess in terms of getting relievers.
- 29:59Even with Diaz there. We always questioned, oh do the
- 30:02Mets have enough bullpen depth? They tried it the last year and
- 30:05look at look at the disaster turned into so that element I
- 30:08cannot trust the process of and again, nitpicking over 5 million
- 30:12for Pete Alonso. Pete Alonso would have gotten
- 30:14five years, 150 in the market value from what was that was the
- 30:16rumor. And not even giving him an offer
- 30:19is just a sign of disrespect too, which is not something that
- 30:22you want to present yourself as an organization.
- 30:24And I'm not saying the Mets should adapt back to the Billy
- 30:26Eppler ways because those were terrible too.
- 30:28But if the Mets want to be respected as a good baseball
- 30:31culture, despite all the money that they have, they can't be
- 30:33treating their players like this.
- 30:34And that's where I think maybe the stingy of Stearns Brewers
- 30:38ways got to him a little bit. They just need to find a middle
- 30:40ground. And the other process I don't
- 30:42like that they haven't done yet. They haven't traded for a
- 30:43pitcher or signed a pitcher in their prime yet, which is really
- 30:47against their values. And they just tried to do what
- 30:49they did in two years ago and try to these dark throws of one
- 30:51year contracts and just not working.
- 30:54So do you think it's kind of both too and if you look at it
- 30:57too in the New York market per SE, right.
- 31:00Is it, do you think it's kind of in the same way of what like
- 31:05when George is doing it like, you know, making the Kevin Brown
- 31:08trade and like in signing those guys like trying to get that
- 31:11like the one year like see what they can do and if we can win?
- 31:15That's what they try to do with like Cantana and then they try
- 31:18to with Montana. George Stonegren, who would
- 31:20never have done this. No way in hell he would have
- 31:23lost Pete Alonso. But no, no, not at that point,
- 31:26not at that point, but like, but he did do it.
- 31:29It exactly kind of what Speedy's saying is to like when they made
- 31:34those deals and like that's what George did too with like, you
- 31:37know, the Kevin Browns and the Randy Johnsons of of bringing
- 31:40them over and the Carl Bavanos and giving him his deal.
- 31:44Like of like when they were hot, like let's we're going to win
- 31:47now. But are are you really trying to
- 31:50win now or like what are you? What are you doing?
- 31:52Well, they're trying to win now because.
- 31:53But I think what you're saying is valid to.
- 31:56Wait a second. You're saying that the Mets are
- 31:58trying to win now? And how are they trying to win
- 32:00now? They're bringing in Devin
- 32:01Williams, who had a bad season last year with the Yankees.
- 32:04And by the way, now, now on top of it, there is more weight now
- 32:11on Devin Williams now because he doesn't have Edwin Diaz.
- 32:14So now it's going to be and, and people have talked about it and
- 32:18his weight now has become tenfold.
- 32:21Yeah, he got his money, right. He got his back.
- 32:24But at the same time, it's like you've seen what he went through
- 32:26with the Yankees. Now you're the you're the end
- 32:29all that meets all for the back end of that bullpen, speedy like
- 32:32you're saying. And they haven't had that
- 32:34process of like having depth in the bullpen.
- 32:37What are you going to do if he shits the bed again?
- 32:40Yeah, and that's the process that they've been missing.
- 32:42Like, if you look at the rest of their bullpen too, Brooks Raley
- 32:44is literally the only other one I could trust in that bullpen
- 32:47right now. You had Reed Garrett, who had a
- 32:49good beginning of the year but fell off in the second-half.
- 32:51Obviously all the other relievers they didn't bring back
- 32:52yet because they were just a dead disaster in the
- 32:54second-half. And then same kind of thing with
- 32:56the starters too. Like I get the idea of not
- 32:59wanting to do what Eppler did, but at least go after somebody
- 33:02of quality, not freaking Frankie Montana.
- 33:03And one of our fans, Sam Kim, says that he doesn't believe.
- 33:07And I'm reading what he said. He says it's not about the three
- 33:10million with the Mets. It was about giving him more
- 33:12than three years and, and, and maybe that's true.
- 33:15Maybe Sam is right. Maybe the Mets didn't want to
- 33:18give him the five years or maybe not giving him the four years.
- 33:21Here's the problem. When you have a player of this
- 33:23magnitude, these guys don't grow on trees.
- 33:26You don't you don't find guys that are going to hit between 35
- 33:29and 40 home runs and give you 100 RBI's almost every single
- 33:32season. Who buys, by the way, plays
- 33:34injured. If you look at Pete Alonzo's
- 33:37career, he plays the majority of the game.
- 33:40He was really only hurt two years ago.
- 33:42He's actually healthy. Every single year.
- 33:45So the Mets had a quality hitter in their lineup every single
- 33:49year and you're sitting back here and you're going to bet,
- 33:52hey, Cody Bellinger, Cody Bellinger can't stay healthy as
- 33:54back problems. So you're going to bet on Cody
- 33:56Bellinger or Kyle Tucker. Kyle Tucker has never played on
- 34:00an on a big stage like New York. I know Chicago and the Cubs,
- 34:05that's a big stage. But here in New York, it's a
- 34:07completely different ball game. There's too much pressure here.
- 34:11We've heard it and now you have guys like, you know, somebody
- 34:14who went to Boston who likes to take shots at the Yankees
- 34:17pitchers and, and we've seen hitters and, and all these other
- 34:20guys that have come to New York that haven't succeeded.
- 34:22And then you have guys like Joppa Chamberlain, who was
- 34:24brought up in the Yankees organization that succeeded here
- 34:28and when he went to different places, succeeded and won
- 34:31multiple World Series. I, I sit here today and I'm
- 34:34going to tell you this. I'm not a Mets fan, but I feel
- 34:36bad for the Mets fan because you sit here today and you're,
- 34:39you're trying to figure out what did the Mets do here?
- 34:42Did they make sense on not offering anything to beat
- 34:46Alonzo? They didn't offer him nothing.
- 34:48And Edwin Diaz sitting back and this is your best closure.
- 34:52This is your best relief picture you've ever had.
- 34:54If you really look back at all the times and all the relief
- 34:57pictures you had and you didn't go to him and tell him, hey,
- 35:00listen, Edwin, I just want to let you know we're we're going
- 35:02to bring. In he was probably the best one
- 35:04since Franco, right Speedy in my.
- 35:06Room better. He's better, way better.
- 35:08When you look at the analytics I've looked at I, I knew you
- 35:10were going to say John Franco because John Franco is very well
- 35:13known in the Yankees. The Yankees over the years have
- 35:17always taken shots at John Franco because he loves taking
- 35:20shots at the Yankee fans. I like John Franco, I like his
- 35:23personality. I met him a couple of times.
- 35:25He's he's as a long lasting Met and Saint Louis Cardinal.
- 35:29So anybody that knows John Franco, you know the type of
- 35:31personality he is, but John Franco never did the things that
- 35:35Edwin Diaz did and Edwin Diaz stood for something else for the
- 35:39New York met fans. One one thing is you're in
- 35:42Queens and that's A to me, when you when you look at Queens,
- 35:46it's very Dominican and Puerto Rican.
- 35:48It was everything over there. They built their team, They
- 35:51brought in Lindor, they brought in Soto.
- 35:53They're building their roster. They have a if I'm not mistaking
- 35:57their their their coach, their manager is Puerto Rican, right?
- 36:01So they built it that way. And you have the best closing
- 36:05relief pitcher in baseball, a Spanish Puerto Rican.
- 36:09I think he's Puerto Rican, right?
- 36:11Yeah, that that was where he got hurt.
- 36:12Unfortunately, what what I'm saying you, you had the best
- 36:16Spanish relief pitcher in all the baseball and you just said,
- 36:19you know what? We're we're just, but it's funny
- 36:21you bring that up too, because they've even said too when when
- 36:25he was in WBC and he blew out, they're like, our season was
- 36:30over. Yeah, like our season was over
- 36:32when we knew, like, obviously we weren't going to have.
- 36:34That literally a week after he signed his contract.
- 36:37Yeah, I, I got something that I don't think yet we've brought up
- 36:41yet. This feels like almost like a
- 36:43Michael Corleone, like hit job by Stearns here.
- 36:47Think about this for a second. Who are the clubhouse leaders on
- 36:50the Mets for the last couple of years?
- 36:53Brandon Nimmo Diaz, Pete Alonzo, Jacob degrom, Frankie Litt.
- 36:59Well, he's gone. Yeah.
- 37:00Well, I'm saying Jacob the gone. Yeah.
- 37:02Lindor is the only one left standing.
- 37:04And you know, it's very curious to me that these guys want to
- 37:07leave when we know that Steve Cohen makes families like Juan
- 37:12Soto's family feel really comfortable and safe at Citi
- 37:16Field. It's such a wonderful experience
- 37:18that they couldn't get a Yankee Stadium.
- 37:20I don't understand why anyone would want to leave after the
- 37:22top notch service that's being done for the families.
- 37:25I think it's so good that Juan Soto wouldn't want to play for
- 37:27the Yankees. He'd want to play for the Mets
- 37:29when guys like Diaz don't want to play for the Mets.
- 37:31Alonso, if even if he did want to play for the Mets, for some
- 37:35reason, Stearns is being cheap about it.
- 37:37And listen, I used to play a lot of poker in college.
- 37:41If you have the chip stack in a tournament, you use it like
- 37:45that's the whole point. You bully people around when you
- 37:47have more chips and you get them out of hands and you end up
- 37:50taking down more hands and you win.
- 37:53But to your point, Fish, you're 100% right.
- 37:55Exactly. It's chips in the chair, right?
- 37:57What did the Dodgers just do? Exactly.
- 38:00The Dodgers just won back-to-back, and what did they
- 38:03do? Oh, let's add on better.
- 38:05We're better now because that was our weakness, the Dodgers.
- 38:08Weren't playing poker, they were playing craps.
- 38:11The Dodgers are playing poker, but they rigged the deck.
- 38:13That's the problem. That's what's going on right now
- 38:15in baseball. Fish, do you play?
- 38:17Poker with deferred chips. Well, they just have more chips
- 38:20than everybody, right? Because nobody else is willing
- 38:22to pony up the future like that. Though.
- 38:25At the same time, like as as a player or like in in any
- 38:29position, if you know that that's what they're doing.
- 38:31And I know Air will go back this and call him the deferred
- 38:35Dodgers. But.
- 38:37At the same time, like, wouldn't you as a player, if if you're
- 38:41going to be able to like know you're going to have a chance to
- 38:44win, like, why wouldn't you go? And no, like, OK, yeah, my owner
- 38:51will spend a lot of money, but he didn't do anything, so why
- 38:54wouldn't I go here? It's exactly what Glass now said
- 38:57when he was with the Rays and did whatever.
- 38:59Then he goes, he's like, you can't beat him, join him, right?
- 39:03And if you're going to do that, why would you not want to play?
- 39:06Like, why would you not want to play for a team that's going to
- 39:09like put you in the best position that you can?
- 39:12You know. To be able to win.
- 39:14You know who the Dodgers remind me of?
- 39:16The New England Patriots, those championship Patriots teams.
- 39:19Now, they didn't use deferred money, but what Bill Belichick
- 39:22and Tom Brady did and Robert Kraft did was they went to Tom
- 39:25Brady. He was the leader and he knew he
- 39:27was going to make money and endorsements and everything he
- 39:29would take. A But also, but also Errol, let
- 39:31me cut you off for a second, but he didn't use deferred money.
- 39:35But what did Tom Brady do? He didn't take as much money
- 39:38because he the dudes in front of him covered his butt to make
- 39:43sure that he didn't get hit so they could win.
- 39:45So he paid Carl Nix. He paid all those guys to cover
- 39:48his butt to make sure he didn't get hit.
- 39:52I I that was my. Deferred money, but not really.
- 39:57But that that's my take. The fact here is, is the
- 40:00Patriots did this. They they had ways of winning
- 40:03championships and their way was is they had a superstar
- 40:07quarterback that didn't care about the money.
- 40:08He cared about winning. And, and The thing is, is it
- 40:12wasn't deferred money, but he took instead of taking 3540
- 40:16million a year at the time and being the highest paid
- 40:19quarterback in all of the NFL, he took 18,000,017 million.
- 40:23Cut it down because hey, I'm going to get Gronk back or I'm
- 40:27going to do this back and I'm going to pay.
- 40:29You pay Edelman, you pay what bring in another tackle that's
- 40:32going to be able to protect me so I can win another 2 Super
- 40:36Bowls. And that's what they did.
- 40:37And that's, that was the the whole, to me, the, the whole
- 40:41grind of the New England Patriots of those times and that
- 40:43dominant period of Bill Belichick and Tom Brady.
- 40:46Now going back to this story and the New York Mets, I don't know
- 40:50what we can call the New York Mets right now.
- 40:52Do we? Do we call this we call the
- 40:54Wilpons, the coupons. Now, I'm not saying that Uncle
- 40:58Stevie hasn't spent a lot of money.
- 41:00If you look at Uncle Stevie and what he spent in the last five
- 41:02years, he spent a lot of money, but he put a billions and
- 41:05billions of dollars into the wrong players.
- 41:07You're bringing Marte. What has Marte done for him?
- 41:10I mean, you've done everything and anything to make the fans
- 41:14happy on investing into players that were not Mets.
- 41:17And then finally you have long lasting that's like Pete Alonso
- 41:21and you know what, David Stearns didn't like him or or they
- 41:25didn't like the analytics or they didn't put the analytics
- 41:27together in a way where they thought that a guy like Pete
- 41:31Alonso is important to the roster.
- 41:34So they said, you know what? We don't need Pete.
- 41:36We're not offering him anything. We're letting.
- 41:38Him go and that's something we talk about on the show a lot
- 41:41too. And you can talk about this too.
- 41:43Fish as as a coach, like what is that?
- 41:46What does that do for the culture of the team?
- 41:48If like if, if you're in a locker room, a clubhouse,
- 41:51whatever, like when they're either not like giving these
- 41:56guys offers or not doing anything like what is that like
- 42:00as a coach? Like how does, how does that
- 42:02change like your perception or like how like, how do I get them
- 42:06on board to like, you know, want to win and like you don't want
- 42:10to compete for each other and everything when it's like these
- 42:15guys and, and Brandon and he's obviously made his money, but
- 42:19does that change the culture of like kind of what you want to do
- 42:23to win? I mean, I've been in as a
- 42:25teacher, not really as a coach, but as a teacher in some really
- 42:29toxic places. I've where you literally have
- 42:33people that are trying to lead by example and they're being put
- 42:39out in front meeting do to do all the work in front of
- 42:41everybody. And then there's your do a bonus
- 42:44before Christmas. And I worked at this place only
- 42:47a few months and they let her go before she was supposed to get a
- 42:495 figure bonus and she was doing everything there.
- 42:53And if you don't think that's going to kill the culture of a
- 42:56place, then you don't know anything about it.
- 42:59You know, as it's, it doesn't matter what profession, if
- 43:01you're not going to respect the people that have put the work in
- 43:04at the place ahead of you, then people aren't going to like
- 43:08working there. There's no reason to like
- 43:09working there. And I think that's really the
- 43:11long story, you know, short of all of it, you know, it's just
- 43:15kind of a bummer for the Mets and your fans.
- 43:18I feel bad for the Met fans. I don't think it's a bummer for
- 43:21the the organization. The organization stupid.
- 43:24They gave the reins to David Stearns and David Stearns is
- 43:27right now. Hey, you know what?
- 43:29We got Stone, we got soda, we got Lindor, we got all this
- 43:32other stuff. We're we're going into Christmas
- 43:35and we're, we're happy what we have.
- 43:36Can I ask you a question though, Errol?
- 43:38If you were, you were put in a vacuum at the start of this
- 43:40offseason where you're like, we got two guys we could choose to
- 43:43pay Devin Williams or Edwin Diaz.
- 43:45Edwin Diaz, how are you throwing that money at Devin Williams
- 43:48after last season? Devin Williams came to New York
- 43:51with the Yankees. He came to the American League
- 43:53East. It didn't work out.
- 43:55It was a lot of pressure on him. It was a different to me.
- 43:57It was in he was in a different position.
- 43:58He has been successful in the National League.
- 44:01He's been one of the best relief pitchers in baseball for like 5
- 44:04years. He's been as dominant as any
- 44:06pitcher in the National and consistent.
- 44:09And then he goes to the Yankees and he wasn't.
- 44:11Now the Mets are thinking, hey, you know what, we bring in Devin
- 44:15Williams, we're not paying him as much as we're going to pay in
- 44:17Edwin Diaz. And they thought, I really
- 44:20thought that the Mets thought they were still going to get
- 44:23Edwin Diaz and they were going to get him and he they were
- 44:26still going to pay him what the the Dodgers were going to give
- 44:28him. And they were never bringing
- 44:30Pete Alonzo. I don't really believe the Mets
- 44:32were ever thinking about bringing Pete Alonzo back.
- 44:35It was Edwin Diaz and then Devin Williams and then they were
- 44:38going to go after Cody Bellinger or Kyle Tucker or make a trade
- 44:41and add a big, you know, a big bat in the in the line.
- 44:44Do you think they're going to make a huge swing right now,
- 44:46though? Yeah, because 100%, you know, I
- 44:47don't know if Uncle Stevie's going to be happy with it.
- 44:49I know George wouldn't have stood for it as the Yankees.
- 44:52Like he. The first reaction Steinbrenner
- 44:55would have done to something like this would have been to
- 44:56trade for freaking Mike Trout or something like that, and then
- 44:59get and then get like, you know, oh, well, he's great, but we got
- 45:02him for nothing. You know, we're and then we're
- 45:04gonna get three more guys that used to be MVP's.
- 45:07Maybe we can get something out of them.
- 45:09But we're going to, we're going to fire back.
- 45:11I wonder what's going to happen if I'm a Mets fan.
- 45:13I think I want to see some other tow.
- 45:15Job. You know, maybe it's you're
- 45:17getting that Tarek Scubal, maybe that's the move.
- 45:21You give up the farm, you get Scubal, you pay Scubal, now you
- 45:25have the ace for the rest of the way.
- 45:26All. Right.
- 45:27All right. So you're saying the Mets will
- 45:28go after Tarek Scubal? That's fine.
- 45:30Hold on. But.
- 45:31But we're talking speedy. Tell us like from because you're
- 45:34a Mets guy. We're we're not Mets guys like
- 45:37speedy like is is what fish saying is, is that something
- 45:41that you would like a serial killing or would they do it?
- 45:45They they should be. I've always bashed the Mets
- 45:48front office before even Stearns got there for not either trading
- 45:52for or signing like a younger, either a younger pitcher or a
- 45:55pitcher in their prime type thing.
- 45:57And obviously school is probably the most extreme example of
- 45:59that. But that process has been really
- 46:01flawed for just the way the Mets have operated for not being able
- 46:04to grow their pitching. Now obviously they try to grow
- 46:06their homegrown pitching outside of the ground.
- 46:08None of them developed well. So maybe they got they got
- 46:10afraid and went to the other approach and then they went away
- 46:13from the not not Scherzer and Justin Verlander 40 year old men
- 46:17approach. And I just think they just don't
- 46:19really have a good system in place to do it.
- 46:21And I want to bring up that you brought up two job before that
- 46:23in addition to the Devin Williams being thrown into the
- 46:27fire, those young players, whoever's not traded, whoever
- 46:30Vientos will start at first, you know, possibly Carson Benz to
- 46:32come home and start in the outfield or maybe Mauricio if
- 46:34he's not ready or something like that.
- 46:35You're throwing them into the fire for a lot of bigger roles
- 46:38right away than they would have imagined.
- 46:39Sam Kim is saying that they're going to give him, they're going
- 46:43to give Stearns at least two more years and because he wants
- 46:46to mold and they believe he's going to mold the team the way
- 46:48he wants to mold it. And maybe he's right.
- 46:50Sam, you might be right. You very much might be right
- 46:53that the Mets say that the Organs organization might say we
- 46:56got to give Stearns a little bit more time to figure out how he
- 46:59sees this team and where he sees this team in the future.
- 47:02But you got all these young pitchers have McClain, Tong and
- 47:05all these other guys. Now you're talking about Tarek
- 47:07Scubal. Now, if Tarek Scubal is the guy,
- 47:10you're going to have to give up a significant portion of your
- 47:13prospects to land a Tarek Scubal because there's no way in hell
- 47:17Detroit's going to say here, here's the best pitcher in
- 47:20baseball, the second best pitcher in baseball.
- 47:22Him and schemes you can argue are the two best.
- 47:24You're going to just hand them over over in, in the prime of
- 47:26his career, 2829 years old. There's no way in hell.
- 47:30And the Mets, after losing 2 superstar players, 2 important
- 47:34pieces to the puzzle, is that enough to get you over the hump
- 47:38to be able to compete with the Dodgers after them landing Edwin
- 47:42Diaz and they're not done. They could get Kyle Tucker.
- 47:44So I mean, as a Mets fan and I'm not, but as a Mets fan and I'm,
- 47:49I'm honest to God, but believing that the Mets fans should be
- 47:53pissed off. They shouldn't be happy about
- 47:55this. This is is not a good sign of
- 47:57where the organization is moving.
- 47:59The only thing I could say for the Mets fan is sit back and
- 48:03hope that David Stearns actually understands what he just did and
- 48:09what he just heard when it came to the fans and what the fans
- 48:13believed in a Pete Alonzo with Edwin Diaz was for the last
- 48:16couple of years. That's the only thing I could
- 48:18say. Speaking of shocking, in a
- 48:21shocking story that is still developing, Michigan University
- 48:26fired head coach Sharon Moore with A cause on Wednesday, and
- 48:32the cause is having an inappropriate relationship with
- 48:36a female staffer from within the program.
- 48:40The New York Post reports that football staffer Paige Shivers
- 48:45addressed address is where a 911 call came from where apparently
- 48:51more threatened to harm both her and himself more than turned
- 48:57over to a detained by or detained and detained by police
- 49:02as a suspect of an alleged assault of a school employee.
- 49:07TMZ released a dispatch of Moore's wife calling 911,
- 49:11claiming Moore was suicidal after losing his job.
- 49:16ESP NS Adam Rittenberg reports that Moore will remain in police
- 49:21custody until his scheduled court case Friday.
- 49:24Several Michigan football players and students said they
- 49:27knew of of the potential scandal after Michigan lost to USC on
- 49:32October 11th, and the New York Post reports say he was behaving
- 49:37more and more erratically as the season went on towards players
- 49:42and staff. Since Moore is still under A2
- 49:46year show cause what is it show cause penalty from the Connor
- 49:51Stallion scandal, It isn't likely that more will be allowed
- 49:56to coach college football again, regardless of how this plays out
- 50:01legally. This story, obviously we don't
- 50:05know the whole thing behind it. There's a lot more that we're
- 50:08going to hear and there's a lot more of the story that's going
- 50:10to come out and it might not be very good.
- 50:12Now me and fish were talking about it and there's this
- 50:16another Penn State scandal. Now, I don't know if it's that
- 50:19bad that that was really, really bad.
- 50:22But the fact here is Michigan's been part of not one, but two
- 50:27scandals in the amount of three years.
- 50:29And you would think when you think about Jim Harbaugh leaving
- 50:33Michigan and going to the NFL and all that story and what the
- 50:37story came out with the Connor Stallion and stealing signs and,
- 50:41and what they were doing in Ohio State.
- 50:43As we have brought up Ohio State and, and, and obviously Coach
- 50:46Day and what he has done over the years to Michigan football,
- 50:49trying to save, stay Pat where Michigan was dominating out of
- 50:54state and finally something needed to give and it gave with
- 50:58the Conocerian story. Now you're hearing this story
- 51:02and this is the thing and this is where I look at it.
- 51:05Has this been going on since Jim Harbaugh?
- 51:08And if it has, did Jim know anything about it?
- 51:13And if Jim knew something about this and the FBI has
- 51:16investigated or will investigate deeper into the story, does Jim
- 51:21Harbaugh get pulled into this? Does he get arrested now?
- 51:25I don't know. I don't know how deep it has
- 51:27gone, but it seems to believe, I seem to believe that it wasn't
- 51:32going on just for two years. This guy has been there for a
- 51:35long, long time. And well, the arrow to tear at
- 51:38the same time. It's like exactly what you said.
- 51:40It affects so many like people on different depths of, of what
- 51:45like it really could be in like you said, how long has this been
- 51:50going on and how long have they have they known about it before
- 51:53it happens? And, and I kind of, I kind of
- 51:56relate this one to kind of like the Tiger Woods thing, right?
- 52:00And where like when one thing happens, the iceberg just
- 52:04appears, right? And so you see it and now all of
- 52:08a sudden all this other stuff comes out and you're like, it
- 52:11originally supposedly from a DoorDash slavery of him getting
- 52:16a Plan B delivered to his office, right?
- 52:19What? Like what are we doing?
- 52:21Like what are you're getting a DoorDash delivery from a Plan B
- 52:26to your office? Like what?
- 52:27What are we talking about? You know what's really weird
- 52:30about this story? And again, we don't know the
- 52:32whole story. So all the fans out there,
- 52:34they're, they're gonna have assumptions and they're gonna
- 52:36assume what the story is really about.
- 52:39What we do know is More is in custody right now and he's not
- 52:44going to be released until Friday, if he even gets
- 52:46released. We don't know what the depths of
- 52:49this story is. Only the police do and the FBI,
- 52:52which has investigated. And that's the crazy thing about
- 52:55all these stories that we speak about.
- 52:57We talk about basketball. We had Tim Donaghy on the show
- 53:00where you're talking about sports betting.
- 53:02Sports has become so big. It's become a business.
- 53:04And now you have coaches with the NIL deals in the portal and
- 53:08all the money that is given to these coaches and they get away
- 53:10with murder. They're getting away with so
- 53:13many different things, not just in college sports, but in
- 53:15professional sports. It it has you wondering, do they
- 53:19have control? Does the, the leaks have
- 53:22control? Do the committee and, and the
- 53:25NCAA have control of these guys that are making 10s of millions
- 53:28of dollars and not really understanding why these guys are
- 53:32involved in these scandals? And when you look at Moore and
- 53:35you look at this story, you knew that Moore had to keep quiet.
- 53:38He needs to make sure everything was clear and clean because of
- 53:42the scandal that happened with Connor Stallions.
- 53:44And now all of a sudden he knew about that.
- 53:46He knew he had to keep keep clean.
- 53:48He knew that he was the guy that was going to stay pat over there
- 53:50after Jim Harbaugh decided to flee and he took a lot of his
- 53:53coaches to go and coach over there in LA.
- 53:56He was the one that stayed there.
- 53:57Now, maybe the reason why he was staying there is because he had
- 54:00a relationship over there and that's why he wanted to stay.
- 54:03There could have been a lot of other reasons why behind the
- 54:07scenes on why Moore decided to stay there and not flee and go
- 54:11and coach over there with LA. Because the fact here is they're
- 54:15not allowed to play for a championship.
- 54:16They're not. They're not allowed to go for a
- 54:18national championship because of what happened with the Connor
- 54:21Stallion story. And now you're sitting here and
- 54:23you're wondering, hey, did Michigan now the players knew
- 54:27about it? Did the executives, did the
- 54:29director of Michigan football know that this was going on?
- 54:33And if he did know what was going on, why isn't he getting
- 54:37arrested? And that that happened in Penn
- 54:39State? That's the same thing that
- 54:41happened in Penn State. Paternal knew some what was
- 54:45going on, but he kind of looked the other way and and you saw
- 54:51what happened. It ruined everything.
- 54:52Penn State, all the championships, all the great
- 54:55things that Penn State did washed away because of one
- 54:58person. And, and again, I'm not saying
- 55:02that Michigan is a great school and a great program and they're
- 55:06great people running it. They're not.
- 55:07We all know they're not. And I'm going to say that about
- 55:10a lot of, you know, programs and sports teams.
- 55:14They're not all great. But when you think about this
- 55:16story and you wonder that there are young women and young men
- 55:21being abused because of power, that to me makes me wonder if
- 55:27the business and the sports world and in the sport is bigger
- 55:31than everything else. And if that's the truth,
- 55:34something needs to be done. Something needs to be taken over
- 55:37by the NCAA and in college sports.
- 55:40Because if they don't do something about this soon, it's
- 55:44going to get worse. Because this isn't the only
- 55:47scandal going on right now. It's not just Michigan.
- 55:50I, I'm, I'm not creating a story and I don't know, but I'm going
- 55:55to tell you this right now. There are scandals going on
- 55:57every single day, every single day in sports.
- 56:01It's just a matter of who's getting caught and who's not.
- 56:04And guess what? Moore got caught because the guy
- 56:07was sloppy, stupid, dumb. And again, an organization, a
- 56:11program that does not know how to control their coaches and
- 56:16they don't know how to control where the money is going and why
- 56:19the money is going to those people that do not know how to
- 56:22control themselves sexually intimately and understand what
- 56:26the emblem and the the program is all about for, for developing
- 56:32young men and young ladies to move on in their lives.
- 56:34Yeah, the direct analogy would be the Penn State scandal, too.
- 56:37And you talk about the athletic director is having a lot of say
- 56:40in trying to cover these kinds of things up.
- 56:41And it's worse when it's at a personal level, too.
- 56:44It's one thing, obviously. Obviously we talked about these
- 56:46betting schemes and all this other stuff, all these
- 56:47recruiting violations that people have done in the past.
- 56:50And I brought it up a few months ago with Mel Tucker at Michigan
- 56:53State State too. And Michigan State's been
- 56:54another one that was suspect obviously with the whole
- 56:56gymnastics scandal to Larry Nasser.
- 56:59And Tom is always believes no stuff about it and they cover
- 57:02that up, obviously. How long was Larry Nasser
- 57:04getting away with it? 10s of years.
- 57:06And years they had to go to that whole court case too, which took
- 57:08about five years for the gymnastics team to actually win
- 57:11their case. And.
- 57:12The United States train the United States and.
- 57:16And what you what you said though Errol too at the same
- 57:19like how many people like you said to the depth of it, like
- 57:22how many people did that affect? How many people knew about that?
- 57:26That we. Probably don't even know about
- 57:29like as, as we speak in the media world and where you don't
- 57:33know like it's, it's so further more than we will ever even know
- 57:40in how it's like affected these people in, in ways where you,
- 57:45you, you can't quantify, you can't even say what it is,
- 57:49right. But it's, it's so much deeper.
- 57:53And, and it's, it's crazy too, because there's, and you're 100%
- 57:59right where there's so many different organizations that
- 58:06this happened to my son's in college right now and literally
- 58:09they were at a Christmas party and their coach just said he's
- 58:12gone. And you just, it's crazy to me
- 58:17like as as a parent too, like when that happens, that affects
- 58:22your children. Like you said, this is young
- 58:24men, young women. And that affects on so many
- 58:28depths of what it is because they're going to move on and
- 58:32they're going to become great and they're going to do their
- 58:35own things. But it it affects in so many
- 58:39ways that you don't even understand, like, and there's so
- 58:43many people that hide things, right?
- 58:45Especially when you have depth of a program that's that wealthy
- 58:48too. I was telling fish off air.
- 58:50Like one of the top five wealthiest schools in all of
- 58:52professional. They're the wealthiest school in
- 58:53the Big 10 and obviously hence why they have the biggest
- 58:56stadium and, and you were talking about it with like the
- 58:59the Connor Stallion scandal and all the other coaches that might
- 59:02have been covering that up. And let's be honest, the Connor
- 59:05Stallion Stallions was not to me.
- 59:09I, I don't call it a scandal. I, I didn't know ever looked at
- 59:13the Connor Stallion story to be a scandal.
- 59:16It was all to me, it was all taken to a whole nother level
- 59:19because of Ohio State and Ryan Day.
- 59:22I believe it was all about Ryan Day and is just to me, his
- 59:27narcissism. And he was doing whatever it
- 59:29took to brush, brush out Michigan and Michigan football
- 59:34because he knew that Ohio State, the way they recruit and the way
- 59:37they do things over the last couple of years was really being
- 59:40blocked by Michigan and Jim Harbaugh.
- 59:43And I believe that. And Connor, Connor Stallions is
- 59:45not the only person reading and stealing socks.
- 59:48Everybody is Oh no, they hired 6 other students.
- 59:51Everybody does it, everybody does it.
- 59:55So to anybody, for anybody to think that, oh, Connor Stallions
- 59:59is a cheater, he was the he's a worthless piece of.
- 1:00:01Garbage. And yes, he's a die hard
- 1:00:03Michigan fan and yes, he came out, he said he would do it
- 1:00:06again if it came down to it, if it comes to winning a national
- 1:00:09championship. I think any fan would say that.
- 1:00:11The fact here is this scandal is a lot, a lot worse when you
- 1:00:17think about when you're hearing a young lady and abusive
- 1:00:21assaults and all this other stuff and that this could be
- 1:00:23tailing back from years ago. And again, if Jim Harbaugh knew
- 1:00:29anything about this, and I'm not, by the way, I'm not
- 1:00:31creating, creating a story, but it to me it's, it's kind of
- 1:00:35unlikely that this just happened.
- 1:00:38Now, this has been going on a long time.
- 1:00:42This hasn't been going on for a year.
- 1:00:44This could, this should. And I believe that's why the
- 1:00:48investigation has, it usually takes 2 years before you're
- 1:00:52going to arrest somebody. You're investigating this and
- 1:00:55you're looking into it. They don't, they can't arrest
- 1:00:58you unless they have enough on you.
- 1:01:00It's the same thing with the Mafia.
- 1:01:02It took him years, years to take down John Gotti.
- 1:01:07Think about it. And John Gotti, they knew he was
- 1:01:09killing people. They they knew that he was
- 1:01:11whacking people and he was stealing and he was doing all
- 1:01:14these other things. They had to get enough on him to
- 1:01:18to arrest him and put him away for a long time.
- 1:01:21The same thing here. They've they've been
- 1:01:24investigating this a long time. So does Jim Harbaugh know
- 1:01:27anything about this? Was he involved in any kind of
- 1:01:30way with this? And if it is true, does Jim lose
- 1:01:33his job? If it's if it's done?
- 1:01:36And I, I believe Michigan will protect Jim Harbaugh.
- 1:01:40I believe it. They're going to protect him
- 1:01:42because Jim Harbaugh is riding off into the sunset.
- 1:01:45He won a national championship. It wasn't taken away from him.
- 1:01:48And he did what he said he was going to do.
- 1:01:50And he's back. He's back coaching in the NFL
- 1:01:53trying to win a Super Bowl with Mr. Duckman.
- 1:01:55So I, I just it to me, it's starting to get me thinking that
- 1:02:00this has been going on a lot longer than people say this.
- 1:02:02Yeah. And also we talked about like
- 1:02:03the obviously the scandal of cheating being performance
- 1:02:06enhancing more directly related to why they won a national
- 1:02:09championship. But Java, you mentioned it to
- 1:02:10like something like this is like a a personal, a human humanity
- 1:02:14type scandal. Like this is directly direct
- 1:02:16contact. And like Errol was saying like
- 1:02:19Paige was there for I think since 2022 at the.
- 1:02:22So this could have been going on for a very long.
- 1:02:24Time. Long time.
- 1:02:25About something you brought up on the phone to Errol is like
- 1:02:27that. She coincidentally got a pay
- 1:02:28raise after. This I got a story up so you can
- 1:02:30go. Check.
- 1:02:31You can check that out too and. Like she went for like 5055
- 1:02:35thousand, like 9090 ground. 55% increase and it got 90 brand and
- 1:02:41she was the only staffer that ended up getting that, which
- 1:02:42makes it a very suspicious situation.
- 1:02:44But again, it's a lot. It's a lot worse when there's
- 1:02:46again assault charges on it. And here's another story.
- 1:02:49His wife, Moore's wife, reached out and called 911.
- 1:02:53Did she know about it? Was she involved with it?
- 1:02:56Come on, think about it. She called 911.
- 1:02:59Let's be honest. Let's look at it this way.
- 1:03:01If if you know you're doing something wrong and you are like
- 1:03:06you, you're covering a lie to cover a lot, there is no chance
- 1:03:10she didn't know. Like she maybe she didn't know
- 1:03:14to the full extent of it, but you damn well know she knew
- 1:03:20something was going on. And that doesn't, that doesn't
- 1:03:25make it right or, or make it wrong in any and, and like we're
- 1:03:29not trying to like create a narrative or anything like, but
- 1:03:34when something like this goes on, it's not like it just came
- 1:03:38to fruition, right? It literally it's, it's had legs
- 1:03:42because that's the reason like that.
- 1:03:44We have the story, right? It's that's the reason.
- 1:03:48And I always like relate it to, to the things that we know here
- 1:03:53in Nebraska, like Tom Osborne covered up a lot of stuff And
- 1:03:59what did the university do? They covered it up to save face
- 1:04:04until it had to come. And there was there was only so
- 1:04:07much you could do at that point, like and now how do you repair
- 1:04:10that? How did how do you repair it?
- 1:04:12You can't. This, this is unrepairable,
- 1:04:15especially when it has to do with kids, underage kids that
- 1:04:18are going to school and the coaches are taking advantage of
- 1:04:21them. And, and, and again, it's all
- 1:04:23about money with all the money that's being divided out now.
- 1:04:26I've been I've been behind the NIL deals, I've been behind the
- 1:04:30portal and how much money these kids should be making under, you
- 1:04:34know, under the thought that these coaches are making a
- 1:04:36ridiculous amount of money. And, and these guys, they these
- 1:04:40coaches are recruiting them and bringing them to the school and
- 1:04:42they're winning championships and they're big recruit
- 1:04:45recruiting players that are going to play NFL football in
- 1:04:48two or three years. That to me, makes a lot of sense
- 1:04:51on why I believe that the NCAA has not really realized that
- 1:04:56there has to be some kind of control of this money as much as
- 1:05:00you think. Think about it this way, All
- 1:05:02right? Lane Kiffin decided to go to
- 1:05:04LSU, right? That's what he decided to do.
- 1:05:07Why? Now, obviously, he got paid.
- 1:05:09Now, Old Miss offered him the same money, but it was the
- 1:05:12portal. He had been offered more portal
- 1:05:16money and NIL money to bring in more players to come and play
- 1:05:21for the school, more than Old Miss could afford.
- 1:05:24So he looked at it and said, hey, yeah, I know everybody's
- 1:05:27gonna go out. I'm gonna give a shout out to
- 1:05:28Josh Silverbrook, who told me, well, he's an ass.
- 1:05:31He's this he's that anybody that sees the facts on the line and
- 1:05:36you what you put a check mark on every single thing that was
- 1:05:39offered to Lane Kiffin. I'm jumping, I'm I'm moving, I'm
- 1:05:42going to get I'm going to get in my car and I'm going to drive to
- 1:05:45LSU and I'm going to say sayonara and Ole Miss.
- 1:05:47So think about it. When you think about the money
- 1:05:50that's getting divided out now and now you could do it legally
- 1:05:54there there is no well, the FBI is going to get involved.
- 1:05:57You can't brush it under the table.
- 1:05:59You can't do what the Clippers did with Kawhi Leonard.
- 1:06:02You got to do it. You can actually stay face and
- 1:06:05and and get away with it. Well, if that's the case, the
- 1:06:09NCAA has to look at these stories and wonder, do they
- 1:06:12really have control of it now that you can pay a young lady
- 1:06:18who's an assistant on the bench? Hey, you know what?
- 1:06:21I'm not going to give you a 55% pay raise just because you get a
- 1:06:24nice butt. You know, I, I just think about
- 1:06:28it. To me, it's starting to get me
- 1:06:31worried that the NCAA do not know how to control the coaches
- 1:06:35do not know how to control the. But how?
- 1:06:38How would you like? How would?
- 1:06:39You, I don't know. I don't know, I don't know.
- 1:06:42I don't think there's any answer to it unless you're going to sit
- 1:06:45in the committee and you're going to get the smartest people
- 1:06:49in in in sports and let them sit around and say, well, this
- 1:06:52works. But at the same time, you can
- 1:06:54say that, but the most corrupt people in the world is our
- 1:06:56government. Yeah, and no doubt.
- 1:06:58And so you have all those people in power.
- 1:07:00And when you get power and power is money, right?
- 1:07:06And that's exactly what you're saying.
- 1:07:07Yeah, it's scary. It is scary.
- 1:07:10There I it just it. I don't, I don't know that that
- 1:07:16they even know like even where to start like.
- 1:07:20As as an. Athlete or as whatever or an
- 1:07:24institution where they see, OK, these, you know, 1819 year old
- 1:07:29kids and then obviously some are playing five, 6-7 years and
- 1:07:33they're freaking have families and married and all the other
- 1:07:36stuff. But how or where?
- 1:07:39Where would you where would you start?
- 1:07:41I'm going to throw you a curveball.
- 1:07:43John Calipari, remember this and and fish you, you brought this
- 1:07:46up. You did.
- 1:07:47You had a John Calipari story. What was it?
- 1:07:50I don't know if it was last show.
- 1:07:51It was a last show and John Calipari was complaining that
- 1:07:55the NIL and the portals that these players are making so and
- 1:07:59so amount of money and all this other garbage that he is saying
- 1:08:02when he was the king of bringing youngsters, 1817 year old kids
- 1:08:06to play one year and go right into the to the NBA because of
- 1:08:10money, right? Remember that?
- 1:08:11You remember that fish? And now he was complaining about
- 1:08:15Rick Pitino, who's bringing in guys that are 2728 years old,
- 1:08:19over the age they're they're playing, they're been in college
- 1:08:22for five or six years. And he says, my guys are playing
- 1:08:26men. How is that fair?
- 1:08:28And here's the answer to it, guys.
- 1:08:30It isn't fair. There is no fairness when it
- 1:08:33comes to money. Money talks.
- 1:08:36It doesn't matter if the program has more money and they can
- 1:08:39throw more money into the nil deals or the portals.
- 1:08:42That's where they're going. That is the facts.
- 1:08:45There is no changing it until somebody puts something in
- 1:08:49writing. This is what you have.
- 1:08:52This is what you can spend and this is what you cannot do
- 1:08:56because if you do it, you're going to be suspended.
- 1:08:59You're going to be taken out of a ball or you can't go into the
- 1:09:02NCAA tournament, the March Madness or whatever the hell it
- 1:09:04is. It's really bad right now.
- 1:09:06And there is no answer, Jabba. That's the answer.
- 1:09:08There is no answer. There's no if.
- 1:09:11The only way you can figure something like this out is if
- 1:09:14you put the right people in a on a round table.
- 1:09:18And I'm not talking about Nick Saban or download Sweeney, who
- 1:09:21bitches and moans about everything because they didn't
- 1:09:23get what they wanted. And that's why Nick Saban's
- 1:09:26hanging out at the beach, hopefully not doing what Bill
- 1:09:29Belichick is doing, hanging out with a 24 year old and having
- 1:09:32his woman tell him what to do over there in North Carolina.
- 1:09:34Or, you know, do the right thing and, and, and figure out what is
- 1:09:38the right thing to do to protect these young people, these young
- 1:09:43adults when they go in front of a disgusting, you know, vicious,
- 1:09:49disgusting man like like Sharon Moore.
- 1:09:53He is. He is the epiphany of what you
- 1:09:56would say you want to keep your kids away from.
- 1:09:59You want to make sure that your kids are safe away from this
- 1:10:03maniac because this man is not a good man.
- 1:10:07He has never been a good man. He to me, he's probably been
- 1:10:11whatever he was as a young man and he's doing it now to young
- 1:10:15people, young people that have no protection, they can't
- 1:10:19protect themselves and and unfortunately the NCAA needs to
- 1:10:23step in and do something about this guy needs to go to jail
- 1:10:25The. Woman might be over 30 is what
- 1:10:27we're hearing the woman that's a staffer that's been around with
- 1:10:30him, who cares in the program while and salaciously apparently
- 1:10:35him and the wife, her and the wife are follow each other on
- 1:10:39Instagram. Oh, how wonderful.
- 1:10:40There's a lot more to this that might be coming out.
- 1:10:43It might be more Bobby Petrino esque than Sandusky esque, which
- 1:10:48would be a good thing. But obviously he's being
- 1:10:51arrested for an assault. You know, welcome.
- 1:10:53I mean, compared to Sandusky picture what Petrino did was
- 1:10:56nothing, you know, but it's just terrible that we're talking
- 1:11:00about this. The Michigan program was a
- 1:11:02national champion just a couple of years ago and now look what's
- 1:11:05happened to them. Like this is like as far as you
- 1:11:08could fall as fast as possible from those type of heights.
- 1:11:11It's pretty crazy that this has happened.
- 1:11:13It's embarrassing, like I would just be embarrassed at this
- 1:11:16point. NFL Network reports that the
- 1:11:18Colts have signed 44 year old quarterback and future Hall of
- 1:11:23Famer, yes Steve White, future Hall of Famer Philip Rivers to
- 1:11:29their practice. You think he just wanted to get
- 1:11:31out of the house 100% Is that what he wanted?
- 1:11:34To do he was. Coaching high school, But after
- 1:11:37losing starting quarterback Daniel Jones for the year with a
- 1:11:40torn Achilles and backup rookie Riley Leonard, who should be on
- 1:11:44a show spraining his PCL in the loss to Jacksonville.
- 1:11:48With former first round pick Anthony Richardson still out
- 1:11:53with an eye injury, who knows he suffered in a pregame warm up
- 1:11:58early this season. The Colts had no one to step in
- 1:12:03under center if Leonard couldn't tough it out.
- 1:12:07He has practiced in full the last two days.
- 1:12:11Just in case. The Colts added Philip Rivers to
- 1:12:14the practice squad. Who listen to that?
- 1:12:17Rivers, who hasn't played since the pandemic, which as well.
- 1:12:22It's funny what he said at the news press conference when he.
- 1:12:25His big press conference was awesome.
- 1:12:28Yes, when he took the Colts to the playoffs in his final
- 1:12:31season, told CBS JJ Watt that he runs a very similar offense
- 1:12:36scheme offensive scheme as the Colts with his son's high school
- 1:12:42team. Head coach Shane Steiken was
- 1:12:45Rivers quarterback coach with the Chargers from 2016 to 2019
- 1:12:49as he said how much he loved them.
- 1:12:51Reports say that the Colts tried to sign Broncos practice squad
- 1:12:56quarterback Sam Ellinger, but Allen Gurr turned it down.
- 1:13:02Injured Riley Leonard, former practice squad Brett Rippin and
- 1:13:08Phillip Rivers are the three quarterbacks who could start
- 1:13:12this week for the Indianapolis Colts.
- 1:13:15Rivers also pushes back his Hall of Fame clock by five years by
- 1:13:22continuing his NFL career. The Colts are sitting at 8:00
- 1:13:26and 5:00 and have one of the toughest schedules left in the
- 1:13:29league, all against winning teams at the Seahawks, home
- 1:13:34versus the 49ers, home versus the Jaguars and at the Texans.
- 1:13:40To me, on a great defense, as I've seen since the since the
- 1:13:43Baltimore Ravens of 2000, I'm not surprised.
- 1:13:49And it's so, it's so funny and I, I wanted you guys to hear a
- 1:13:52little bit. Not not surprised if you think
- 1:13:54it would be him though. Yes, and I'm going to tell you
- 1:13:57why we have an audio right speedy play video.
- 1:14:00All right, play the video. I want people to see a little
- 1:14:02bit of this video. A coach that I love and an
- 1:14:09organization that I really enjoyed being with you know Mr.
- 1:14:13Earth, say believing in me in that year in 2020 when it didn't
- 1:14:16go so good in 2019 and shoot the the teammates that I was able
- 1:14:22were able to play with shoot 14 of them still here training
- 1:14:26rooms the same PR guys are the same cooking room's the same and
- 1:14:34they wanted me and you know I tried to keep it as simple as
- 1:14:37that and you know game game. I love to play a game that I
- 1:14:41thought it was it was I was done playing certainly I wasn't
- 1:14:44really hanging on to any hope of playing again.
- 1:14:46I kind of, I kind of thought that ship had sailed, but
- 1:14:52something about it exciting me. And it's kind of one of those
- 1:14:54deals. The door opens and you can
- 1:14:56either walk through it and find out if you can do it or, or run
- 1:15:00from. And I, I know, I know that
- 1:15:03there's, there's risk involved, obviously, of what may or may
- 1:15:07may not happen, but the only way to find out is go for it.
- 1:15:10And I just felt almost like it was a, a gift, another
- 1:15:13opportunity to, to play and cut it loose with you guys.
- 1:15:16And perhaps you've got to live, you're getting, you may get some
- 1:15:19bonus time. So I really kept it as kept, as
- 1:15:22simple as that. A gift.
- 1:15:23He he used it as a gift, ladies and gentlemen, and maybe it is a
- 1:15:26gift. Maybe it's a gift from God.
- 1:15:28You could see that he put on some weight.
- 1:15:30He's not in that that NFL body that he wants to be in.
- 1:15:36You could definitely see that he has that fatherly body. 44 years
- 1:15:41old. I still think first of all,
- 1:15:43Philip Rivers is to me one of the most accurate quarterbacks
- 1:15:47we've ever seen. So if you could still throw the
- 1:15:49ball, he could still make those passes.
- 1:15:51And I still think he is definitely credible to be better
- 1:15:55than Riley Leonard is. Now what worries me about it is
- 1:15:59he hasn't played an NFL football game for five years.
- 1:16:01As a matter of fact, the last time he's played during the
- 1:16:03pandemic. And he made a joke when he
- 1:16:05stepped up and he spoke to the media, says thank God this isn't
- 1:16:08a Zoom call. And and he made a joke because
- 1:16:11during the pandemic, all he could do when he came to
- 1:16:14speaking to the media is through a Zoom call.
- 1:16:16And, and now he, he gets a chance to talk to the, in the
- 1:16:19media. He talked about his family, he
- 1:16:20talked about all the trials and tribulations and, and Jim Ursay
- 1:16:25and how Jim Ursay gave him another chance and that he loved
- 1:16:27it there. And that he, he, he loves this
- 1:16:29organization. And he goes and he every single
- 1:16:32week, week in and week out, he watches all the Chargers games
- 1:16:35and all the Indianapolis Colts games, because those are the two
- 1:16:38teams he played for and that he has a lot of love for him.
- 1:16:42What makes me think that this man can do it is because of what
- 1:16:46he was when he played on the football field.
- 1:16:49The guy was cold when he went out there.
- 1:16:52He would yell at you. He, I've heard it.
- 1:16:55We've had guys on the show. He was a trickster.
- 1:16:57He was a jokester. And when he stepped on a
- 1:16:59football field, he didn't give a crap who you are.
- 1:17:02He didn't care if you were Tom Brady, Peyton Manning.
- 1:17:04If he wanted a mouth off to you, we wanted a mouth off to the
- 1:17:06defenses. He would do that.
- 1:17:08And you could see that he had that flair about him.
- 1:17:11Philip Rivers always was look down upon and what I mean by
- 1:17:15that is when he was drafted, he was practically traded for Eli
- 1:17:20Manning because Eli Manning didn't want to play for San
- 1:17:23Diego. No, he wasn't.
- 1:17:24Practically, he was. Yeah.
- 1:17:26So he was pretty much thrown, thrown away and and taken by the
- 1:17:30San Diego Chargers. Now, you remember that's the
- 1:17:32same San Diego Chargers team that had Drew Brees.
- 1:17:36Drew Brees eventually went back. He went to New Orleans, won a
- 1:17:39Super Bowl, became the Drew Brees superstar quarterback that
- 1:17:43he he was when he came out of college, Second round draft pick
- 1:17:47and Philip Rivers to me out of all three quarterbacks in that
- 1:17:50class from Eli Manning and Ben Roethlisberger was not the most
- 1:17:53successful but the most accurate.
- 1:17:56And statistics would tell you he was the best one out of all
- 1:18:00three of them. Now I don't.
- 1:18:02Know told the best. Statistically was.
- 1:18:06Statistically, he was. Statistically, Phillip Rivers is
- 1:18:09better than all. But it was. 17 years that he
- 1:18:13played, of course he was going to have more yards.
- 1:18:15Actually, if you look at Phillip Rivers and and his career, I
- 1:18:19think he played less than Ben Roethlisberger and he played
- 1:18:21less than Eli Manning. So and he played more, but he
- 1:18:25played more years. One more year than Eli.
- 1:18:28One more. Yeah, it's it's not much and and
- 1:18:30his numbers are much. Better still, that's a whole
- 1:18:33year his his accumulating yard, the.
- 1:18:36Fact. The fact here is he's statistics
- 1:18:39would tell you he's better than both of those guys.
- 1:18:41OK. Statistically saying that, OK.
- 1:18:43And we've talked about. I never said he was better.
- 1:18:46You. You.
- 1:18:46You hear what I said? No.
- 1:18:48You. Guys can agree and disagree on
- 1:18:50this one. Does does championships fall in
- 1:18:53that category? OK, so championships in the NFL,
- 1:18:56and I, and I've said this many, many times and I've gone back
- 1:18:58and forth with my arguments to this, it takes a team to win a
- 1:19:02championship. If you go over to Patrick
- 1:19:04Mahomes in those championships that he's won, go look at
- 1:19:06Patrick Mahomes. His numbers in the Super Bowl,
- 1:19:08they're not very good, OK? Even Tom Brady, his best Super
- 1:19:12Bowl was against the Eagles, which he lost against.
- 1:19:15He had over 500 yards and he didn't even win that Super Bowl
- 1:19:18when he played Nick Foles. OK, so when you go back and you
- 1:19:22talk about championships, it takes defenses, it takes special
- 1:19:24teams, it takes an offensive line, it takes coaching.
- 1:19:27So I'm going to go back to it. I'm not saying Phillip Rivers is
- 1:19:31better than than any one of those quarterbacks.
- 1:19:32I'm saying statistics would tell you when you look at the stats,
- 1:19:36he is better than Eli Manning. He is better than Ben
- 1:19:39Rothenberger. You can disagree or agree to it.
- 1:19:42It doesn't really matter. The fact here is I don't think
- 1:19:46Eli Manning can come back. I don't think Ben Rothlisberger
- 1:19:49can come back. But I do believe Philip Rivers
- 1:19:52can come back now. How good he's going to be what,
- 1:19:55I don't know. But.
- 1:19:56But how? How can you say that he's?
- 1:19:58More accurate, He's more accurate.
- 1:20:00Same. Caliber.
- 1:20:00Same everything. He's more accurate than both of
- 1:20:02them. He isn't accurate.
- 1:20:04He has been known for his accuracy.
- 1:20:05As a matter of fact, he's been. Known so is he literally going
- 1:20:08to just run 5 yard outs and. I don't know what he's going to
- 1:20:11do. I don't know what he can do.
- 1:20:12I don't know what he can do. His his accuracy is one thing,
- 1:20:15but Errol, you forget the problem that Philip Rivers
- 1:20:18always had is he was a sidearm thrower.
- 1:20:21He's a three quarter thrower. He has a weird arm slot.
- 1:20:24He's Uncle Rico. Well, he's a much better than
- 1:20:28Uncle Rico, but it's grandpa. He's got a grand grandson or a
- 1:20:32granddaughter one year old. So this is I don't know how many
- 1:20:36grandparents are playing quarterback 44.
- 1:20:38Years. Old Come on, he's 44.
- 1:20:40Tom Brady played at 45 and he's and because he's a grandpa,
- 1:20:44because he had kids at a young age.
- 1:20:45I think he had his first kid when he was 19.
- 1:20:47Or you don't think having like a dozen kids in your house takes
- 1:20:50years off your life in ages you like in different ways.
- 1:20:53Nobody is. First of all, nobody is saying
- 1:20:55that. What I'm saying is, and I don't
- 1:20:58know how it's that I'm not adding.
- 1:21:00Years to your life. I'm not saying it's going to
- 1:21:03work or it's not going to work. All I do know is out of all
- 1:21:07three of these quarterbacks coming out of retirement, he's
- 1:21:10the one that I could say that would probably, if if any of it
- 1:21:14it's going to work, it would be him.
- 1:21:17It's just his personality. Ben Roethlisberger came out
- 1:21:20after he heard that Philip Rivers was coming out of
- 1:21:22retirement and said he even made a joke about it.
- 1:21:25He says if if anybody that's going to do it, it's Phil.
- 1:21:28He knows that he can't do it. And Eli laughed, he giggled at
- 1:21:31it. He giggled at it because Eli
- 1:21:33knows he can't do it. He had back problems.
- 1:21:35Eli at the tail end of his career was not healthy enough.
- 1:21:38Philip Rivers, when he walked away from the sport, it wasn't
- 1:21:41because of injuries. It really wasn't.
- 1:21:44He left because he felt that it was time for him to step away.
- 1:21:48He had a family, he had kids. He wanted to coach his son in
- 1:21:52high school. That's what he wanted to do.
- 1:21:54So to say that I'm not saying it's going to work, Who knows?
- 1:21:58I don't even know if he's ever going to even get a chance to
- 1:22:00step on the football field. You can't.
- 1:22:02Say that because if if you're stepping away from your family
- 1:22:05and as as a family man of what we all know Philip Rivers and
- 1:22:09not obviously knowing him personally, we know he's a
- 1:22:12family man, right? There is no chance in hell that
- 1:22:15he is leaving his family and going to the practice squad if
- 1:22:20he ain't going to get on the field.
- 1:22:21No, there's no, there's no chance.
- 1:22:23And and we know that. Go ahead.
- 1:22:25He's going to play guys. No, he's going to play.
- 1:22:27If Riley Leonard can't go, he's coming in.
- 1:22:31There's no doubt. Maybe not this week because they
- 1:22:34haven't really done anything with him yet, but he's gonna
- 1:22:37play because they have a chance to make the playoffs and they're
- 1:22:40not putting in Brett Rippens hands.
- 1:22:42Daniel Jones, who was supposed to get an extension at the end
- 1:22:44of the year, is not getting an extension.
- 1:22:46I'm just letting everybody know this.
- 1:22:48That sucks. That sucks for him.
- 1:22:49Yeah, when you when you when you tear in Achilles, you're never
- 1:22:53the same quarterback. Anybody that knows anything
- 1:22:55about the Achilles there. And Daniel Jones is what, he's
- 1:22:5830 now. He there's no way.
- 1:23:01There is no way now, unfortunately, the culture going
- 1:23:04to give it to him. I think they're bringing Philip
- 1:23:06Rivers in because Riley Lanner is the guy that they believe is
- 1:23:09going to take over in the future.
- 1:23:10You bring in Phil. Phil is a leader.
- 1:23:13He understands how to be a coach on the sidelines.
- 1:23:16He's been coaching high school kids.
- 1:23:18They think that he can help Riley Leonard out at the last
- 1:23:21four years and maybe eventually become a part of that coaching
- 1:23:25staff. Maybe his plan, maybe the whole
- 1:23:28point of Stiken is bringing him in to be the quarterback coach
- 1:23:31for next year. For a guy like a Riley Leonard,
- 1:23:34that's. A cool idea?
- 1:23:36That's a really cool idea. Could.
- 1:23:37Happen. It could happen.
- 1:23:38You know, I don't know if they're.
- 1:23:40He's on he's on something right there.
- 1:23:42Like maybe he he saw that too in where it's like, OK, I can help
- 1:23:49in this, in this context of doing.
- 1:23:51But at the end of the day, he's 44 years old, He's done
- 1:23:55everything that he could do. And he's like, yeah, I still get
- 1:23:59the opportunity. But I Errol, I think you're 100%
- 1:24:02right when, and I guess I never really thought about it like
- 1:24:06this because we obviously know he's, you know, he's coaching
- 1:24:09high school and doing all these other things, but maybe that's
- 1:24:12kind of where he saw it too. And it's like, Hey, I'm, I'm
- 1:24:15still young enough. Obviously I can, you know, get
- 1:24:18in and, and strap it up and lace him up again.
- 1:24:20But then it's like, hey, after this, instead of being in high
- 1:24:23school, why the heck can I come do this and like and see kind of
- 1:24:28the leadership that he does have and be a part of a franchise,
- 1:24:32whether it's with the Colts or whether it's with somebody else.
- 1:24:35But to see kind of how he helps in in transitions, those certain
- 1:24:40things. Aaron Rodgers when he was with
- 1:24:42Brett Favre, kind of same thing, right Where you I don't.
- 1:24:45Think Aaron Rodgers would come back like this though?
- 1:24:47No, he would do. Well, that's great.
- 1:24:49You know why guys can't come back in football and This is why
- 1:24:52I'd be really surprised if it works.
- 1:24:54Maybe Philip Rivers is one of the few guys that can do it.
- 1:24:56Brett Favre similar. It's can you still take a hit?
- 1:25:00Are you going to hear footsteps after that first hit?
- 1:25:03It's very different. I remember even Michael Vick
- 1:25:06hearing footsteps at the end of his career because he didn't
- 1:25:09want to take a hit anymore. And that was Michael Vick.
- 1:25:12You know what I mean? That happens to everybody.
- 1:25:14You just can't react as fast. You know it's going to hurt.
- 1:25:17Miles Garrett is coming off the edge.
- 1:25:20You know, like that guy's got a 16 pack.
- 1:25:23He's going to destroy your life. You're going to be able to throw
- 1:25:26this ball accurately from a three quarter arm slot at age 44
- 1:25:30when that's coming from you. If you do, you have the best
- 1:25:33guts of all time. Maybe you're a crazy person.
- 1:25:36Brett Favre we know has Parkinson's, you know what I
- 1:25:39mean? Like he took a lot of hits.
- 1:25:41Not a smart move by him, but at the same time, you know,
- 1:25:45warrior, you know, on the field. So there's like, you know, the,
- 1:25:48the positives and the negatives of all that.
- 1:25:51I I just, I'd be shocked because I just see it.
- 1:25:53You see it all the time, like they're just not the same
- 1:25:56because they're not going to be as aggressive in the pocket
- 1:25:59because they're afraid to get hit.
- 1:26:00But but Fish, this is the same guy that played in the playoffs
- 1:26:04with the torn ACL. Four years ago and that the ACL
- 1:26:08thing is just senior. I'm just saying I've never seen
- 1:26:11a quarterback do that. And I remember, I agree with
- 1:26:14you. I remember that your take on it.
- 1:26:15Yeah, again, they were going to be stuck at the for the short
- 1:26:17term at the quarterback position no matter what.
- 1:26:19So I like your thinking of like trying to mentor Riley Leonard
- 1:26:21because the Colts are not going to have a first round pick.
- 1:26:23So like the the odds of them taking another quarterback and
- 1:26:26if they let Daniel Jones go is going to be very slim as it is.
- 1:26:29So at least for at least maybe a short term plan for the length
- 1:26:32of his rookie contract, that would be where you want to go.
- 1:26:34The Colts if they were throwing darts at trying to save their
- 1:26:36playoff spot at quarterback anyway, it would have been to
- 1:26:38something like that with Sam Allinger who was drafted by
- 1:26:42them. But now it's psych and he just
- 1:26:44knows the team a little bit or Brett Rippon, like one of these
- 1:26:46other guys that are third string quarterback, practice squad
- 1:26:48quarterback. So like, what's the harm in the
- 1:26:50upside of playing? Try out Philip Rivers if he's
- 1:26:53available and he's healthy. And again, he maybe you just get
- 1:26:55a semi pseudo quarterback coach out of it for Riley Leonard if
- 1:26:59it doesn't end up being the case, because Riley Leonard, it
- 1:27:01seems like they he played well enough last week and I think to
- 1:27:03play if he's healthy, he looks like you.
- 1:27:06We've seen him go to a national championship.
- 1:27:08We know Riley Leonard has the the personality to be a good
- 1:27:12quarterback in the league if he gets the right tutelage and and
- 1:27:15the coaching on the side. And I think Phillip Rivers makes
- 1:27:18a lot of sense. And we, and we know from
- 1:27:19interviewing him that Riley's a smart guy.
- 1:27:21He's very, he's a very coachable player.
- 1:27:23Like smart guy, but not a very nice.
- 1:27:26Guy all right, I should say that smart guy on the football field
- 1:27:30I'm. Just kidding.
- 1:27:31He was mocking the professor. I know you were getting it with
- 1:27:33that. Just kidding.
- 1:27:34I, I, I, the fact is, is Riley's always been a nice guy.
- 1:27:37We've been interviewing since the 8th grade.
- 1:27:39I, I mean, we know what Riley is capable of and we know what the
- 1:27:43personality that he is. So we expect him to be
- 1:27:46successful in the NFL because everywhere he's gone, he's been
- 1:27:49successful. So I I'm not I will never ever
- 1:27:53bust on a kid that I know and I've known for a long, long time
- 1:27:56and seen him develop as a great quarterback in college, high
- 1:28:00school and now the NFL. So and Anthony Richardson, he's
- 1:28:04done. I think they know he's done and
- 1:28:06and they're. Now he he had an opportunity to
- 1:28:10be great. Yeah, he's done, man.
- 1:28:11He is absolutely done. And and again, as a as a fan of
- 1:28:15Philip Rivers, because I am a fan of Philip Rivers the window
- 1:28:18thrower himself, as Mike Francesa always called him.
- 1:28:20He gave him the nickname I I could say this about Philip
- 1:28:24Rivers. If there's anybody that can do
- 1:28:28this, it's him. I just, there's something about
- 1:28:32him and I think it's crazy. I like Fish says anybody that's
- 1:28:36coming out of retirement hasn't been hit by a professional
- 1:28:39athlete, 350 lbs coming at you like a bowl and is going to try
- 1:28:44to run you over and try to take your head off.
- 1:28:47I, I be, I'm going to say I'm going to be crapping my pants,
- 1:28:51but Phillip Rivers has a set of balls, set of knockers on him.
- 1:28:55And it obviously it does because you got a ton of kids, but.
- 1:28:58But we, we always, we always think too as guys that have done
- 1:29:03it before, like me just playing catch with Carter, right?
- 1:29:07And, and Carter's like, you're going to hit me in the chest.
- 1:29:09I'm like, dude, I'm still doing the same things that I did when,
- 1:29:13you know, I was 20 years old. And we think we can do it.
- 1:29:18It's a little bit different, it's a little bit different, but
- 1:29:22we still always are going to think that.
- 1:29:24And when you get to the pinnacle of, of what you do and
- 1:29:28especially in sports and and as all of us being competitive,
- 1:29:31right, like I don't like losing in anything.
- 1:29:34I don't care if it's cards. I don't care if it's like but
- 1:29:36then you getting the. Opportunity we know well, 100%.
- 1:29:41You know, we've, we've had that conversation, but it's, I'm, I'm
- 1:29:45excited for him as as a dad and as an athlete.
- 1:29:52Like, I'm excited to see what he can do because he was a great
- 1:29:57quarterback and you can't take that away from him.
- 1:30:00And now to come back and to see what he can maybe do at 44.
- 1:30:06Like, I'm, I'm excited about this.
- 1:30:09I, I am. And he may suck, but at the same
- 1:30:14time, we're still going to enjoy it.
- 1:30:17Either. If he believes he can do it, I
- 1:30:20I'm sure he's got. Something up his sleeve.
- 1:30:22Thank you. I think he does all right,
- 1:30:25ladies and gentlemen, our deuce of the day.
- 1:30:27The deuce of the day you log not a log.
- 1:30:30I don't have a log, but no. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
- 1:30:41our deuce of the day goes to Cam Newton.
- 1:30:43Yeah, Cam Newton has a lot to say about the Phillip Rivers
- 1:30:48story as he came out and said, wait a second, Phillip Rivers is
- 1:30:52coming out of retirement. Why did they come to me?
- 1:30:55I'm Cam Newton. I still have it in me.
- 1:30:58I'm younger, I've got the ability.
- 1:31:00I'm this, I'm that. And of course Phillip Rivers
- 1:31:03didn't say anything. He obviously, I'm sure he heard
- 1:31:07Cam Newton all over, you know, the Stephen A Smith show and all
- 1:31:12the other stupid crap shows that he's been on.
- 1:31:14And Cam Newton has a problem. It's always about him.
- 1:31:17It's me, me, me, me, me, me. Instead of letting it just go
- 1:31:21and let I you didn't hear Ben Roethlisberger say you didn't
- 1:31:23hear Eli Manning say it. You're the guys.
- 1:31:25Tony Romo loves it. But the guy that didn't like it
- 1:31:29is the one guy you don't want to hear from Mr. Ugly Hatter
- 1:31:32himself. Cam Newton comes out and says,
- 1:31:36wait a second, why didn't Indianapolis reach out to me?
- 1:31:39I'll tell you why, Cam, Because we've seen enough of Cam Newton.
- 1:31:42We saw you with the New England Patriots.
- 1:31:44You sucked. But you came out and you talk
- 1:31:46about Drake May and you took shots at Drake May on the
- 1:31:48season. He's having OK everything.
- 1:31:50You got a problem with everybody, Cam.
- 1:31:53Why don't you just keep your mouth shut?
- 1:31:55Why are you open your mouth? Philip Rivers didn't throw you
- 1:31:57under the bus or all the garbage that comes out of your mouth.
- 1:31:59Cam, you don't even know what you're talking about half the
- 1:32:01time, but you, you speak like you know everything.
- 1:32:04That's the problem. Unfortunately, Cam Newton is a
- 1:32:09person that you just don't want to like.
- 1:32:12And Philip Rivers every time he speaks and if he gives you the
- 1:32:16energy you want to like him, you want to rude him on.
- 1:32:19So the difference between both of them is he's a guy that you
- 1:32:22want to hate and a guy that you want to love and who you going
- 1:32:25to bring in the guy that you want to love.
- 1:32:29So my thoughts to Cam Newton and his garbage and and bringing up
- 1:32:34the the fact that they should have reached out to him or why
- 1:32:37not him? Here's the reason why Cam you
- 1:32:39couldn't throw the ball. You were an inaccurate
- 1:32:43quarterback at best. You are a running quarterback.
- 1:32:47You will full back at the quarterback position trampling
- 1:32:50over people because you're 64 and £250.
- 1:32:54That's what you were. You were never a throwing
- 1:32:56quarterback. I don't care if you won a
- 1:32:57national championship with Auburn.
- 1:32:59I don't care if you went to a Super Bowl and won an MVP.
- 1:33:03To me, you're one of the most overrated quarterbacks of this
- 1:33:06era. So that's the reason why you
- 1:33:09have a Hall of Fame quarterback in Phillip Rivers and a no
- 1:33:12shame. All all talk Cam Newton and I
- 1:33:17don't call him a quarterback. I call him a big mouth attitude
- 1:33:20driven piece of you know what? So my juice of the day goes to
- 1:33:24Cam Newton and I don't want to hear him.
- 1:33:27I don't want to hear him anymore on any show and his complaining
- 1:33:30about quarterback play and what he knows about the position
- 1:33:33because guess what, you're not a quarterback anymore and all you
- 1:33:37are is a media guy that doesn't shut the you know what up our
- 1:33:40sports minute with the one and only fish.
- 1:33:45This is the Jabba and the Mouth Sportsman ads.
- 1:33:50All right, guys, welcome to the Sportsman and Aaron Fishman here
- 1:33:54we got a couple of stories before we get into the scores
- 1:33:57this evening. The Baseball Hall of Fame
- 1:33:59announced on Wednesday that this year's recipient for the
- 1:34:02prestigious Ford C Frick Award for Excellence in Broadcasting
- 1:34:06will be Joe Buck. Buck will be the 50th Frick
- 1:34:09Award winner and member of the Hall of Fame, joining his late
- 1:34:13father Jack Buck in the Hall. He's the only father son duo
- 1:34:16enshrined. Buck, who's 56 years old, is the
- 1:34:18second youngest inductee ever, behind only Dodgers legend Vince
- 1:34:23Scully, who was inducted at age 54 back in 1982.
- 1:34:27I am shocked in many ways. I didn't think this was coming
- 1:34:29right now, Buck said. I was saying to the group that
- 1:34:32that called to tell me that my best memory of my father as a
- 1:34:34Major League Baseball broadcaster was in 1987 in
- 1:34:37Cooperstown in New York and what it meant to him, what it meant
- 1:34:40to our family to see him get at the award, to see the joy and
- 1:34:43pride that he had for what he had done.
- 1:34:46Well congrat you Frickin lations to this year's Frick Award
- 1:34:50winner Joe Buck. Well, Eagles fans and local
- 1:34:54sports media certainly have got their panties up at a bunch
- 1:34:57these days as the once immortal defending Super Bowl champions
- 1:35:01have been taken on the chin left and right as of late.
- 1:35:04Things got so bad on Monday Night Football for Jalen Hurts
- 1:35:07in the 2022 to 19 OT loss. Head coach Nick Siriani was
- 1:35:11forced to answer questions from WIP radio host Joe De Camara
- 1:35:15about possibly benching Hurts after a 0 touchdown for
- 1:35:18interception performance against the Chargers, bringing the
- 1:35:21Eagles records in eight and 5 on the season.
- 1:35:24I think that's ridiculous, Siriani said.
- 1:35:27I know every time I go out on that field with Jalen Hurts as
- 1:35:29our quarterback, we have a chance to win the game.
- 1:35:31That's something that's been proven.
- 1:35:33We've won a lot, a lot of football games and again, we
- 1:35:36don't ever go into something and assign blame.
- 1:35:39This is a team game. This is the most Ultimate Team
- 1:35:42game. You win together as a team, you
- 1:35:44lose together as a team. It's never just one thing.
- 1:35:47I know every time I walk out on that field and Jalen Hurts as a
- 1:35:49starting quarterback, I have so much confidence that we can win
- 1:35:52every game and any game that we play in and that heat that we're
- 1:35:56in. Syria is not wrong.
- 1:35:59Despite some deficiencies Hurts might have, finding open
- 1:36:01receivers against more complicated looks like those of
- 1:36:04the defensive coordinator Jesse Minter.
- 1:36:06Hopefully the next Giants head coach threw at him on Monday
- 1:36:08Night Football, but this guy has only 6 interceptions on the year
- 1:36:12after he just threw 4, so we only had two coming into the
- 1:36:14game. He's going to finish with over
- 1:36:153000 yards passing, over 20 something touchdowns and
- 1:36:19probably over 10 touchdown runs on the season.
- 1:36:22He's fine, but then again, go ahead Philly, push him out of
- 1:36:25town. I'm sure Kenny Pickett will be
- 1:36:26available again this offseason. Guys, we are streaming live on

- 1:39:09Oh nice. We know you care a lot.
- 1:39:13I love you. Say it.
- 1:39:18Yeah. A lovely Sam.
- 1:39:20I need a blow pop. Suck my indoor droba slack my
- 1:39:24robot droba. You blow my back.
- 1:39:30Awesome. Oh fish, you gotta send me the
- 1:39:31cocktail. Look at.
- 1:39:32Him. He's a Care Bear, Nathan.
- 1:39:34Is a care bear ladies and. Gentlemen, you are a Care Bear,
- 1:39:37Nathan a Camo Care Bear of the the blue Blazers Doo Doo.
- 1:39:43Carl plays with himself. I'm putting you on a leash now.
- 1:39:48Breaking news. I got to go back off now.
- 1:39:50He waxed off all the time, ladies and gentlemen, very, very
- 1:39:53much so. And and by the way, every time
- 1:39:56I, every time I call Nathan, the first thing he says is butt
- 1:40:00plug, butt plug, butt plug. And I'm like, why do you, why do
- 1:40:03you do this all the time? Every time I call him he says
- 1:40:06butt plug, butt plug. I could you imagine calling a
- 1:40:10person you want to have a serious conversation with
- 1:40:13somebody and the first thing you hear from it is.
- 1:40:16Butt plug. That's what you hear.
- 1:40:18That's what you hear every single time.
- 1:40:20Every single time, ladies and gentlemen, it's it has.
- 1:40:24A lot of hot ladies he. Loves the ladies or.
- 1:40:26Breaking news I need Brittany also as.
- 1:40:29We all know he's a little. He could just be practicing how
- 1:40:32to enunciate certain letters. You never know.
- 1:40:34That's true. As I want to hit it.
- 1:40:36He wants to hit more. He wants speedies.
- 1:40:39I want her melons there you. Go there you go anyways one.
- 1:40:44Thing, Nathan, one thing I've always wanted to ask you, like
- 1:40:46where is your, where's your family from?
- 1:40:49India. India.
- 1:40:51Do you want to jerk me off? Definitely.
- 1:40:56That was a nice segue, but yeah, that's great.
- 1:41:03We see it. Thumb up my ass.
- 1:41:08Oh my God, when everybody, when we all get together, we're going
- 1:41:12to the strip club. It's going to be a lot of these
- 1:41:17like, yeah, Nathan, we'll meet you right inside.
- 1:41:19We'll see you there. It's just around the corner.
- 1:41:21All right. So we went, we went to the Super
- 1:41:23Bowl and we were in, we were in New Orleans and we were, we were
- 1:41:28walking through. What would we call that?
- 1:41:31French Quarter. French.
- 1:41:31Quarter and when you're in French Quarter, there's so many
- 1:41:36strip bars. So me, Nick, it was Tommy Speedy
- 1:41:41and and we were walking through the French quarters and these
- 1:41:44people they come and they grab you they want to bring you into
- 1:41:47the strip bars. So Tommy and and and so it's
- 1:41:51Nick and, and, and obviously it's Nick and Fish and I'm in
- 1:41:56between. And then there's Tommy and
- 1:41:58Speedy. So Speedy, he was drinking, but
- 1:42:01he wasn't drinking a lot. And then Tommy decides they pull
- 1:42:04us in and say, oh, $5, you can come in for $5.00.
- 1:42:07So Tommy just walks right in, OK?
- 1:42:10He just walks, don't mind if I do.
- 1:42:12Don't mind if I do 5 bucks, 5 bucks and then speedy Speedy,
- 1:42:17just they grab speedy. These girls bring them in.
- 1:42:20OK, so I go to Nick and I go to, I go to fish and I'm like, you
- 1:42:25guys going to come in? I can't leave these two.
- 1:42:28I leave these two guys. This guy I I I have.
- 1:42:31This we went and got chicken fingers.
- 1:42:33They went to get chicken fingers, so I'd always.
- 1:42:35Cock. Wasn't that what it was called
- 1:42:36Willie's Cocks? I don't know what, I don't know
- 1:42:38what it was called, but I. Don't know what you're talking
- 1:42:41about. But.
- 1:42:41Wasn't that what it was called? The chicken place?
- 1:42:43Like the daiquiris, Like Willie's cock, you know?
- 1:42:46What I never mind Willie's order, but anyways, so so he
- 1:42:50goes in. So Speedy goes to the bar and
- 1:42:52it's a funny story. And by the way, we are going to
- 1:42:54have Charlie slows join us. He will be joining us.
- 1:42:57He's at the he's right now at dinner, but he's coming so, so
- 1:43:01he goes in. So Tommy walks right in and he
- 1:43:04just walks right in and he these girls come up and they're trying
- 1:43:07to they're trying to grab me and I'm trying to look I tell so I
- 1:43:10know how to do it. You don't look at their faces
- 1:43:13because if they look at you and they see that you're staring at
- 1:43:14them, they're coming right to you.
- 1:43:16So I'm looking down at Speedy's at the bar and and there's a
- 1:43:20bartender and there's a girl like rubbing against Speedy's
- 1:43:23leg, like rubbing against Speedy's leg, wrapping her legs
- 1:43:27around Speedy and Speedy's. Standing.
- 1:43:29If they just sweat, let's. Go.
- 1:43:31So Speedy's standing. There.
- 1:43:32So Speedy's standing there and the the bartender says, what do
- 1:43:36you want to get? So Speedy orders a drink.
- 1:43:38And then what happens is he's buying them drinks too, because
- 1:43:42they're not telling them. So he buys the bartender a
- 1:43:44drink, and he buys her a drink automatically.
- 1:43:47He spends like $50. 5030. Whatever it was, Speedy, how do
- 1:43:52you remember? You better shut up, because you.
- 1:43:54$30.00 in a pint of a little chicken.
- 1:43:57First of all. You.
- 1:43:59The fact that you even said that, you know Speedy is going
- 1:44:01to remember exactly what. Yeah, well, he shouldn't be.
- 1:44:04He shouldn't be saying anything because he's a chicken.
- 1:44:08OK, so we're standing there. Tommy goes on his way, but he
- 1:44:11realizes that going upstairs, it's going to cost $1500.
- 1:44:16And as soon as Tommy hears $1500, he jets out of there.
- 1:44:20OK. And Speedy, this girl's rubbing
- 1:44:22on Speedy's leg and I'm grabbing and he's.
- 1:44:24So she tells me, oh, your friend wants to go upstairs?
- 1:44:27And I said no, he doesn't. And he says, and he's looking at
- 1:44:31me. And Speedy gives me his little
- 1:44:32poor little eyes, help me, help me.
- 1:44:35And I'm sitting here. He remembers the freaking thing.
- 1:44:37Why don't you remember this? So I'm looking at him and she
- 1:44:40grabs him. I grab him by his shirt and.
- 1:44:42That is Bourbon Street. And I grab him by his arm and
- 1:44:45I'm pulling him and I pull her, pull it, pull him over to me.
- 1:44:49And I go to the girl and I say he doesn't want to go upstairs
- 1:44:51and he's not going upstairs. We're getting out of here.
- 1:44:54And she says, no, no, no, you'll go upstairs. 1500.
- 1:44:57I was like, yeah, you can take your 1500 and shove it up your
- 1:44:59ass. That's what I said to her.
- 1:45:01And I grabbed him. I walked outside and say, serves
- 1:45:03you right. And I looked at him.
- 1:45:05I said you shouldn't have went inside.
- 1:45:07He went inside and his own his own thoughts and own reason when
- 1:45:12I told him not to do it. And Speedy, he's scarred from
- 1:45:15it. He thinks that all strip bars
- 1:45:17are like that. They're all going to pull you in
- 1:45:19and drain you and stuff like that, which is not true.
- 1:45:22It was just Bourbon Street. And I told him, I said it serves
- 1:45:25you right now. Next time when I tell you no, no
- 1:45:28is no. So he just he learned his lesson
- 1:45:31very quickly. And then Tommy, as soon as he
- 1:45:34earned $1500, this guy jets out of here because he thought he
- 1:45:37was going to get, he was going to get a lap dance for free.
- 1:45:40This guy. Tommy thought he had a Groupon
- 1:45:44and it didn't. It didn't work.
- 1:45:45Yeah, it. Was a Groupon all right?
- 1:45:47Speedy. Speedy learned the lesson pretty
- 1:45:49quickly, didn't he? Didn't Just Speedy.
- 1:45:51Speedy came into the chicken place that me and Goody were
- 1:45:54sitting then. Like white as it goes.
- 1:45:56Almost. Like almost.
- 1:45:58It was he was like completely shook because he he didn't got
- 1:46:02out of there. Errol I think saved his life
- 1:46:05that night and we speedy might have lost like had organs
- 1:46:08harvested dude that night. Jabba if he got caught they were
- 1:46:12bringing him upstairs and he would have spent $1500 because
- 1:46:15they were they were going to drain his ass and I to.
- 1:46:18Start for $1500 just to get started.
- 1:46:22Yeah, so I would. I saved his ass.
- 1:46:25I saved his ass. And I told him, I said it serves
- 1:46:28you right. When next time when I tell you
- 1:46:29not to go in, it means not to go in because they tried to pull me
- 1:46:33in and I was like, no, I'm not going in there.
- 1:46:35I know what I I know if I walk through that door, it's trouble.
- 1:46:39And I did it. And I watched this guy over here
- 1:46:41because he walked in no problem. Walked right in.
- 1:46:44Tommy walked right in, like no problem, $5.
- 1:46:47Yeah, sure, I'll do that. Yeah.
- 1:46:48He goes in there and as soon as the girl's rubbing and I was
- 1:46:51like, Tommy, don't wander off, they're going to get you.
- 1:46:54And he's like, yeah, I got it. I got it.
- 1:46:56As soon as they told him 1500, he jetted out there as quick as
- 1:46:59possible And they dude, there were like 7-8 girls coming up to
- 1:47:03me trying to get me to, to to do whatever they wanted me get away
- 1:47:07from me. I told him.
- 1:47:08I was like, I know, I know your spiel.
- 1:47:10I know how you are. So I was like, and Speedy was,
- 1:47:14he was getting and Speedy was getting in.
- 1:47:16Yeah, this girl. This girl.
- 1:47:17Was pretty hot. This girl was pretty hot she was
- 1:47:22rubbing all hottest girl in there speedy hat she was the
- 1:47:25hottest girl in there by far and and she was like rubbing on him
- 1:47:30and all these others other. Nice.
- 1:47:32Speedy was getting. I'm just glad that we survived
- 1:47:35the ordeal. Just it was it was a little
- 1:47:38touch and go there for a little while that night because that
- 1:47:42was the same night, Errol, that that was that reporter who was
- 1:47:45murdered and like and chopped up or something, right?
- 1:47:49The serial killer or something. That was like it was a sports
- 1:47:52guy down there for like Telemundo or something like
- 1:47:55that. And that was that night.
- 1:47:59It was that night. I feel like though, you know,
- 1:48:01we're kind of glossing over the fact, Nathan.
- 1:48:04Like, I feel like if you would have walked into this, it would
- 1:48:08have been like the Cheers bar, like everybody.
- 1:48:11No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 1:48:13No, no, no, no. This is what no, but they're
- 1:48:15like, we would just put all on Nathan's credit card at that.
- 1:48:18And Nathan? Would have pulled out his
- 1:48:20father's credit card and he would have like.
- 1:48:22Everybody. Knows my own credit card.
- 1:48:24My own credit card. All right, Dad, I have my own.
- 1:48:26Credit card, Do you have a black card for those type of things?
- 1:48:29I have I have a mileage plus plus card, whatever you call
- 1:48:32that. Plus plus, yeah.
- 1:48:35Daddy, Daddy was. I'm not pulling my, I'm not
- 1:48:39pulling my black card out for any of you.
- 1:48:41Guys, I had to explain to my wife, just because the card is
- 1:48:46black does not mean it's a black card.
- 1:48:48Never heard of the skin and it's it's something that we had to
- 1:48:51work. Through I think I left early,
- 1:48:53right back to the hotel after the rush I had.
- 1:48:55To take a shit. Yeah, you did leave early that
- 1:48:58night. You did leave.
- 1:48:59I remember you said that was lucky for you, too, because
- 1:49:01again, there was a mass murderer out there.
- 1:49:03Yeah. Smell my ass.
- 1:49:04If there's anybody that's going to go into a mask, murderers, a
- 1:49:07hotel room, it's it's Nathan. Absolutely Nathan.
- 1:49:10Mr. Care Bear himself. Oh yeah.
- 1:49:13Nathan would try to talk him down and be like, hey, you know,
- 1:49:15we're OK. Like we we can figure this.
- 1:49:18Out Nathan would come to us like hey, that's my guy.
- 1:49:21You know that he's a good. He's a good friend of mine.
- 1:49:25Yeah, yeah, I know him. Yeah, I, I met him last night.
- 1:49:28Yeah, he was at that party I was at.
- 1:49:29Yeah, that, that's him. Yeah.
- 1:49:31Yeah, Bundy, But Ted Bundy's awesome guys, my guy, man, I'll
- 1:49:35come up with. You, I I held hands.
- 1:49:37I held hands when he was in the electric chair.
- 1:49:39Yeah, I. Am.
- 1:49:39Oh my God. Oh, Charlie Starkweather.
- 1:49:42Yeah, we're good. We're.
- 1:49:46Good. John Wayne Gacy.
- 1:49:47Yeah, him and me were buddies. I.
- 1:49:52I will tell you. I will tell you something.
- 1:49:54My dad was in the prison for 30 years.
- 1:49:55Oh. My God and.
- 1:49:56He did. He did walk.
- 1:49:58He walked a man to the electric chair.
- 1:50:00Oh. I'm sure.
- 1:50:02Well, my dad, my dad rolled. He walked.
- 1:50:08Your father was one unique individual man he.
- 1:50:11Really, he was he is the best. It's, it's so funny and I miss
- 1:50:16Dad every day and like it, but it's crazy.
- 1:50:20I, I've seen the electric electric chair more times than I
- 1:50:23can count because I used to park my dad's scooter because when
- 1:50:29dad could walk before, you know, he became to the scooter all the
- 1:50:32time that I would park it in. It was, it was the storage room,
- 1:50:37but it was the viewing room for the electric chair.
- 1:50:40So sometimes the curtains would be open and I would see it all
- 1:50:43the time. And then it's like, it's exactly
- 1:50:46what you think it would be. It's exactly what you think it
- 1:50:49would be. And it was, it was crazy.
- 1:50:51And I was a sophomore in high school and he was with Walking
- 1:50:55Willy Otay for I think 17 years. And his one last request was
- 1:51:01like, other than his food and all the other stuff was that my
- 1:51:04dad. And my dad was like, I'll take
- 1:51:07you in there, but I can't see it.
- 1:51:09Oh my. God, and I was Dad was one of
- 1:51:12the games my dad missed. I was a sophomore in high
- 1:51:14school. We were playing East High
- 1:51:15School. Never forget it.
- 1:51:17And that's one. One game my dad missed was to be
- 1:51:20there for Willie. I would never put anything next
- 1:51:24to an electric chair when I know people were killed.
- 1:51:28I mean, it was, but that was just like normal for me because
- 1:51:31that's just what I did like for Dad, like I, I didn't think it
- 1:51:35was any different. Like, you know, and it's, it's,
- 1:51:38it's nuts. But yeah, Dad, Dad did it.
- 1:51:41Well, Speaking of tears, we've got Save Your Tears.
- 1:51:47Mom, what's 1? Thing.
- 1:51:49That you can't talk to me about. My sexual fantasies.
- 1:51:54Say your sorry this. Is not ideal, but if it's what
- 1:51:57means it is not ideal. But if it's just not ideal.
- 1:51:59But if it is, what mean? You can't trouble stamp a double
- 1:52:02stamp. You can't.
- 1:52:03Trouble stamp a double stamp. You can't trouble stamp double
- 1:52:05stamp. You guys, now it's time for save
- 1:52:11your tear. All right, guys, welcome back to
- 1:52:16Save Your Tears, everyone's favorite fantasy game where we
- 1:52:20pick different categories of players with a $15 salary cap.
- 1:52:24We're going to be doing week 15 right now, the standings of of
- 1:52:28Save Your Tears heading into Week 15 of the season.
- 1:52:30In first place, we have Speedy PD with 31 points.
- 1:52:33We have Jabba Chamberlain. Oh wait, sorry, not yet, Jabba.
- 1:52:37We have Nathan with 25 points in second, Tommy with 20 in 3rd,
- 1:52:41Errol with 18 and forth. Jabba, you won last week.
- 1:52:44We owe Jabba some compliments, guys, before we get started.
- 1:52:46He's in fifth with 12. I have 10 and 6th.
- 1:52:50Jarrett, who could not be here because he's doing some
- 1:52:52wrestling stuff tonight, is in 7th with 9 and Goody has played
- 1:52:58a couple of times. He's got a point guys.
- 1:53:00Here we go. Well, before we get started,
- 1:53:02let's bring this down. Let's give Mr. Chamberlain his
- 1:53:07do real quick. Jabba, I'll start off.
- 1:53:09I don't remember what the order was, but I got to tell you it
- 1:53:13was an incredible job by you last week making those wins jump
- 1:53:17in the standings. You jump 2 spots in the
- 1:53:19standings that this time of the year it's, you know, it's
- 1:53:23playoff chase time and I don't really know exactly what you're
- 1:53:26going to win by getting into the playoffs, but it's about the
- 1:53:29competition, it's about the process.
- 1:53:31And everybody who's been a fan of you, myself included, notice
- 1:53:35that that's what you're all about.
- 1:53:36Way to continue being you, man. We love you.
- 1:53:38Congratulations. All right, let's move it on.
- 1:53:42Keep it moving, Speedy Petey all.
- 1:53:44Right it is a fitting for you to win in a week Java on the same
- 1:53:48on the same week that due to unfortunate circumstances that
- 1:53:50if Pokey was named the new Michigan head coach, Nebraska is
- 1:53:54is alum. But you beat me out barely.
- 1:53:57We're looking at the looking at the grid.
- 1:53:59I had to trust LSU's guy, not Nebraska's guy Brian Thomas and
- 1:54:03you trusted Michael Pittman, who was not an LSU guy.
- 1:54:06That's for you Goody to be able to win this week, but very good
- 1:54:10you beat my analytic knowledge this time around and have fun
- 1:54:13picking in the order who gets to go first.
- 1:54:19All right, so I'm going to go next to Jabba.
- 1:54:22I got to say I don't remember the team that you picked.
- 1:54:24I don't remember whatsoever where I finished or how how many
- 1:54:28points you scored, but it was good enough to be reigning
- 1:54:31champion over all of us. Man, You know, I love this say
- 1:54:34my savior Tears is personally one of my favorites.
- 1:54:37And whenever we get to, you know, whenever we get to
- 1:54:40actually coincide together and defeat Errol and get #1 hey,
- 1:54:45it's always a win. Nobody puts in the pain with
- 1:54:47Omaha NE. Hey over there, nobody puts in
- 1:54:51the pain with Omaha NE like you. So hey, Congrats Mr. Jabba
- 1:54:57Chamberlain. All right, Nathan.
- 1:54:59Yeah, Java. Congrats.
- 1:55:01Do I need do I need to fall asleep for this one?
- 1:55:04Java Hey, I'm giving Jabba, you're a champion on the field
- 1:55:09off the field, even the champion year.
- 1:55:11Congrats, you deserve it. I don't know.
- 1:55:15I don't even know what you picked, but well, well deserved.
- 1:55:18And it's it's been great working with you Jabba like my shrimp
- 1:55:23kacha and I watch you grow. I watch you pitch when I was a
- 1:55:26fan, but now working with you guys, it's not an athlete.
- 1:55:30Great job, Jabba. I'm glad that I'm here with this
- 1:55:33with you guys. All right.
- 1:55:37And last but not least, Mr. Errol.
- 1:55:38Marx All right, Jabba. 51% positive, Errol.
- 1:55:48You know, there, there. There's a lot of luck in this.
- 1:55:53I'm just kidding, all right? Oh, wow.
- 1:55:55My Kevin just got slammed on his back.
- 1:55:57Oh, that hurts. Anyways, Jabba, you know,
- 1:56:02congratulations. Very well deserved.
- 1:56:05You know it's not every day you win.
- 1:56:07So you got to win one way or another.
- 1:56:09You got to pull off a win one way or another.
- 1:56:11And why not pull up a win in a in a week where, you know, I
- 1:56:14lost Daniel Jones. Congratulations.
- 1:56:16Very well, very wellly picked well picked on your on your your
- 1:56:24roster and congratulations. All right, that was some old
- 1:56:28news. Let's get to the new news.
- 1:56:30Here's the board the games that we're picking from for week 15
- 1:56:34giants, commanders, Ravens, Bengals and lions Rams.
- 1:56:39So if you're listening at home, I'm going to read off the board
- 1:56:41for you. But we are available on in video
- 1:56:44both on apple and Spotify. If you guys haven't seen us
- 1:56:46there in video, check us out as well as well as every time you
- 1:56:49see us all throughout the social medias and on YouTube.
- 1:56:52Give us subscribe and share. All right, $5 quarterback.
- 1:56:56We got Matthew Stafford, Joe Burrow for four, Jared Goff at
- 1:57:003, Jackson Darts coming back for two.
- 1:57:03And here's an interesting buy. Lamar Jackson for $1.00.
- 1:57:09It's been a tough season for Lamar at running back, $5
- 1:57:12running back Jameer Gibbs probably going to be the
- 1:57:14offensive player of the year the way things are going right now.
- 1:57:17Him or JSN, probably Derek Henry at $4.00, Karen Williams for
- 1:57:21three, never know with him in that at a timeshare with Blake
- 1:57:25Corum. Tyrone Tracy is a $2.00.
- 1:57:28And I just wrote Bill for a dollar.
- 1:57:31Yes, that's Bill Jacori, Kroski Merritt from the Commanders at
- 1:57:36wide receiver one, and again, you got to pick it from this
- 1:57:38column. Wide receiver one is Puka Nakua,
- 1:57:40the $5 player, followed by Aman Rossain.
- 1:57:42Brown. Pretty loaded at receiver this
- 1:57:43week, guys. T Higgins for three, Zay Flowers
- 1:57:46for two and a pretty good season from Wandale Robinson could be
- 1:57:49gotten for a dollar in that column at wide receiver 2.
- 1:57:53Jim Marr Chase leads the $5 column there, followed by
- 1:57:56Devante Adams. Scary.
- 1:57:58Terry Mclaurin for $3. He's never killed the Giants
- 1:58:01before. Jameson Williams only for two,
- 1:58:04and guy who has maybe no hands. Darius Sladen for a dollar at
- 1:58:11tight end. Little Slim Piggins this week at
- 1:58:13tight end. Mark Andrews for five.
- 1:58:16Theo Johnson for 4M, Kasicki for three, Colby Parkinson for two
- 1:58:20and rounding it out, John Bates for a Dolar Jabba.
- 1:58:26You decide the order. Who's going first?
- 1:58:28Oops. All right, Tommy, what we got
- 1:58:30all? Right.
- 1:58:31I'm going to go with Joe Burrow. Give me Jameer Gibbs.
- 1:58:38Oh, I know. You know yet Jameer Gibbs,
- 1:58:41Higgins, Jameson Williams, and then I should have a dollar.
- 1:58:44So we're going John Bates. All right, Giants usually suck
- 1:58:48at guarding tight ends. Probably a smart move.
- 1:58:50I got Burrow, Gibbs, Higgins, Jameson and Bates.
- 1:58:54Who's next? Jabba.
- 1:58:55Nif. The NIF.
- 1:58:57Let's go. All right.
- 1:58:59I got. I got Jared Goff.
- 1:59:02I got my guy. Tyrone Tracy Junior, I got.
- 1:59:08I'm on Saint Brown. No, sorry.
- 1:59:11T Higgins I got Terry Devante Adams.
- 1:59:20Then I'm going to go, you know I'm.
- 1:59:23Going to help him out with the math.
- 1:59:25Is it? Saint Brown, you took Burrow.
- 1:59:30That's. No, he's got Devante at, so he's
- 1:59:32got Adams for four, Higgins for three at 7, Tracy 2.
- 1:59:35That's nine. Goff, you have $3.00 left,
- 1:59:38Nathan. Good.
- 1:59:39I'm going to go Mike Gazecki. All right, Kiseki, so I got you
- 1:59:43Nathan at Cough, Tracy Higgins, Adams and Giseki Jabba, where
- 1:59:51are we going? You're up next.
- 1:59:54Oh man. All right, let's do it.
- 1:59:56I am going to go with Jackson Dart, Giants future legend for 2
- 2:00:03bucks. I'm going to spend a bunch of
- 2:00:06money on Gibbs for five. I am going to spend not a lot of
- 2:00:11money on wand. Dale.
- 2:00:13Robinson for a dollar, by the way, has better numbers than
- 2:00:20Justin Jefferson this year. Errol, everyone was taking him
- 2:00:22like first receiver this year. Nope.
- 2:00:23That's because I know. But you got to remember that
- 2:00:27that who's throwing right then we got.
- 2:00:29So how much do I have? I got that's 8.
- 2:00:32So I got plenty of money left. I got 7 bucks for these last
- 2:00:35two. Yeah, give me scary Terry.
- 2:00:37The Giants have never stopped him in the history of his
- 2:00:41career. And that gives me 4 bucks for
- 2:00:45the only guy. The only two targets are Wandale
- 2:00:49and Theo. I'm going to take Theo Johnson.
- 2:00:51We'll pause it for you, Jabba, who's up next?
- 2:00:54Speedy. Speedy.
- 2:00:55So I'm going to. Go for the first time I think
- 2:00:58ever that I've done save your tears.
- 2:01:00I'm actually going to take 2 fives, 2 twos and A1.
- 2:01:04What about? Skidmark.
- 2:01:05So give me Lamar, give me Gibbs, give me Puka and the two twos,
- 2:01:10Jameson, Williams and Parkinson. Hookah so excited Jameson and
- 2:01:19Parkinson who's? Lamar playing this week.
- 2:01:23Bengals. Bengals.
- 2:01:25I'm I'm floating it out there. He just hasn't had a good week
- 2:01:29in a long time. But it's there sitting for you,
- 2:01:33Jabba. You were Errol, Errol all.
- 2:01:36Right, right. I'm going to go Lamar.
- 2:01:37I'm definitely going to go with him.
- 2:01:39Who are the Rams playing this week?
- 2:01:41Lions. The Lions OK, I'm going to go.
- 2:01:49I'm going to go definitely Puka. I'm definitely going with him.
- 2:01:53I'm going to go. Jamar Chase.
- 2:01:58So what do we have right there? You got 4 bucks left?
- 2:02:024 left with one running back and one tight end.
- 2:02:07All right, I'll change. I'll change Jamar Chase.
- 2:02:09I'll go divide No, because I can't You go to other safety
- 2:02:12right they. Wouldn't make sense.
- 2:02:14You guys take a running back or a tight end.
- 2:02:16You got 4 bucks. Because I'm trying to think of
- 2:02:19the numbers, I definitely want to go puka who the the the lines
- 2:02:25are playing over. Here, Rams.
- 2:02:27All right, I'm going to go. I'm going to go St.
- 2:02:30Brown and then I'm going to go Jamar Chase and then I'm going
- 2:02:33to go. I'm going to go Derek Henry.
- 2:02:36How many? How many do I?
- 2:02:37Got one left. Then I got one left.
- 2:02:38I'll go with Bates on the bottom.
- 2:02:42All right, so we got Henry and Bates.
- 2:02:46All right, so I got you Lamar, Henry St.
- 2:02:48Brown, Chase and Bates. Java.
- 2:02:50You're up. I'm.
- 2:02:51Going to go Burrow, Derek, Henry, Wandell, Kyle.
- 2:02:59Pitts is doing. Great.
- 2:03:01That puts me at 9:00 and then I'm going to go.
- 2:03:08I'm going to go Jameson Williams and then Theo Johnson.
- 2:03:14All right, and I got you for Borough, Henry, Wandale, Jameson
- 2:03:19and Theo. Let me share the screen.
- 2:03:22We'll just take a quick look at the full board.
- 2:03:25For those of you who are falling at home, bring this down.
- 2:03:30Bring this up, as you see, we got a couple of Mars, couple of
- 2:03:34Burrows there, got three guys with Gibbs, couple of Wandales,
- 2:03:39a lot of Higgins action here. Jameson Williams very popular
- 2:03:43this week and all over the place at tight end, guys.
- 2:03:47Again, the winner gets those compliments on Errol, I believe.
- 2:03:52Next episodes next week, guys. That's save your tears.
- 2:03:57If you don't like the results, you can't cry about it.
- 2:03:59You got to save your tears. Somebody's got to save their
- 2:04:01tears. We're waiting for Charlie Slows.
- 2:04:03He will be joining us. He'll be joining us a little bit
- 2:04:06later. I would say probably in the next
- 2:04:0810 to 15 minutes. We're going to talk a little
- 2:04:10baseball with him because I he's got his own take on the Mets and
- 2:04:14everything that's going on at the baseball.
- 2:04:16What was going on at the baseball meetings.
- 2:04:17He's got some inside stuff. So I'm sure Charlie has some
- 2:04:23information. All right, Why don't we go
- 2:04:26Fish's Play of the Week this is. What's great about sports?
- 2:04:32You play. To win the game.
- 2:04:34Hello. You.
- 2:04:35Play to win the game. Fish's Play of the Wing win.
- 2:04:40Another TOE job. All right, guys.
- 2:04:43Welcome back to Fish's Play of the Week guys.
- 2:04:48I usually give you a really cool play, something that's a little
- 2:04:52innovative, X's and O's, Y's. I'm not always just trying to
- 2:04:55take the big catch here. That's not really what I'm
- 2:04:58about. I like to see things schemed up.
- 2:05:00I coach football and this week I'm going to be giving you guys
- 2:05:04a play. That's something that I see a
- 2:05:06lot while I'm coaching and it's something that's been around the
- 2:05:09game for a very long time. Let's start it off right here
- 2:05:13with the 65 yard touchdown by Tony Pollard this past week.
- 2:05:18Some reason we're glitching. Let me bring it off and bring it
- 2:05:20back on. I don't.
- 2:05:21Care if it's just not. Working for me tonight for some
- 2:05:23reason, but here we go. Tony Pollard, we get a block
- 2:05:27downfield from Van Jefferson. That's what most people saw on
- 2:05:31this play, but I don't know why is why people only look at the
- 2:05:36end and the celebration. Why don't you care about what's
- 2:05:39happening that made that guy score?
- 2:05:41Well, that's what we're going to do here on fishes Play of the
- 2:05:44week. Take a look at the formation.
- 2:05:46This is a 4/4 defense, 1 high safety.
- 2:05:49This is going to be cover one, cover 3.
- 2:05:51This is what you see at high school football.
- 2:05:52JV football is what the Browns are playing.
- 2:05:55So the Browns have a guy at the top of the screen named Miles
- 2:05:57Garrett who kind of cleans up everything else.
- 2:06:00So they're probably playing a little bit differently.
- 2:06:02Looks like you have a two eye technique on this side of the
- 2:06:04ball. That's going to be the fatal
- 2:06:06mistake on this play because now the guard and center are
- 2:06:09uncovered to the front side. Watch both of them pull to the
- 2:06:13right on what I would call the Vince Lombardi sweep.
- 2:06:17Adjusted for today, pull the uncovered lineman or both
- 2:06:20guards. Sometimes we call it a buck
- 2:06:23sweep. Usually a buck sweep.
- 2:06:24It's to a wing back. We have the wing over here, but
- 2:06:27if you notice, we got tight end wing on one side, We got split
- 2:06:30end wing on that side and there's a tailback behind arrow
- 2:06:33on the screen that's Tony Pollard.
- 2:06:35That's called a wing T Guys, this is wing T football in the
- 2:06:39NFL in 2025. Watch the play a little bit and
- 2:06:43the reason why this play works, the Titans may suck and we know
- 2:06:48that they suck, but they got a couple of really good young
- 2:06:51tight ends. Take a look at the tight end on
- 2:06:53the ball and the tight end off the ball who's going to block
- 2:06:56Miles Garrett one-on-one on this play as the play starts.
- 2:07:00It's a typical wing T blocking scheme.
- 2:07:02Blocked down. If you're uncovered, go up to
- 2:07:05linebacker, you'll see the two tackles are the tight end on the
- 2:07:08front side, number 84, that's Gunnar Helm.
- 2:07:10Their young tight end and their left tackle go up to the second
- 2:07:14level. Tony Pollard is going to take it
- 2:07:16really flat because I mean, Miles Garrett's there.
- 2:07:18So they're going to take it really flat to the outside.
- 2:07:20Those two pulling lineman pick up the two guys right there.
- 2:07:24That's exactly what you want. But there should be a safety
- 2:07:26coming over to help. Unfortunately for them, Gunner
- 2:07:29Helm blocks both of them with one hand and shoves them both to
- 2:07:33the ground. And now Tony Pollard is off to
- 2:07:36the races. This is and then we have that
- 2:07:39great run block downfield by Van Jefferson.
- 2:07:41Yes, that Van Jefferson. He's still around guys.
- 2:07:44What a awesomely blocked one of the most old school plays in the
- 2:07:49book, the Lombardi Buck Sweep this week on Fishes Play of the
- 2:07:55Week. Oh.
- 2:07:56My God, what a day. What a day.
- 2:08:03Yeah. All right, there we go.
- 2:08:06All right, ladies and gentlemen, we call this Speedy's 6 Pack of
- 2:08:12the Week. Let's have a sixer.
- 2:08:15Hey, who wants to play Drink the Beer?
- 2:08:17It's time for the Speedy 6 pack of the week.
- 2:08:22A lot of hot ladies. Well, there won't be any hot
- 2:08:26ladies in these texts. Sorry Nathan, I hate.
- 2:08:28To break smell my ass. But we do.
- 2:08:30We do have some betting guys. Chad is with us and Johnny
- 2:08:32should be with us in a few minutes.
- 2:08:34Just. Start it off here.
- 2:08:36We'll start with this AFC East duel, so we'll go.
- 2:08:39With Dave. Chaz, you'll follow me after
- 2:08:41that and we'll go with Fish, we'll go with Java and then
- 2:08:44Errol. Get rounded out the Bills at the
- 2:08:45Patriots. The Bills are 1 1/2 point
- 2:08:47favorites at home. I think the Patriots got to lose
- 2:08:49at some point. I'm going to take Buffalo in
- 2:08:51this spot. They've looked very good the
- 2:08:52last few weeks after losing at the Dolphins.
- 2:08:54Give me Buffalo to cover this spread.
- 2:08:56Chaz, back on the six pack for the first time in a while.
- 2:08:59I know Wednesdays were tough for you.
- 2:09:01Yes, yes, yes. Wednesdays are tough for me.
- 2:09:07What do you got in this game? Chaz Pats are the bills.
- 2:09:11Pats are the Bills, the Pats are I.
- 2:09:13I have, I'm, I'm halfway through.
- 2:09:17That's why I'm not done. So I'm not done handicapping.
- 2:09:20I've got a pretty complicated handicapping system because I'm
- 2:09:23a numbers guy. But I have a a a round Robin
- 2:09:27going and Patriots team total over is the play.
- 2:09:31All right, I'm going to take the Bills in this one as just far as
- 2:09:35the spread and in general, I think the Patriots have
- 2:09:39benefited from quite an easy schedule.
- 2:09:42I'd like to see them really go against the Bills when they're
- 2:09:44trying to be a playoff team. I think you're going to see
- 2:09:47best, the best of Josh Allen on this game.
- 2:09:49Give me the Bills. So.
- 2:09:51The coin. We got it.
- 2:09:55I'm doing a real 1 this week boys.
- 2:09:57Oh nice. Tails.
- 2:10:04All right. I'm on the bills as well.
- 2:10:10Did I miss something because I don't know the rules?
- 2:10:12What's tails and what's heads? Heads is home.
- 2:10:15Tails is away. That's all I needed.
- 2:10:18Thank you. Errol all.
- 2:10:22Right, we got the bills and who the?
- 2:10:23Patriots in New England in New England.
- 2:10:26Yep, I got the Bills winning. All right, next we'll go to the
- 2:10:30Chargers at the Chiefs. The Chiefs are 5 1/2 point
- 2:10:33favorites at home. Kind of a desperation game for
- 2:10:35the Chiefs. I do think the Chiefs do win the
- 2:10:37game, but I do I don't think they cover 5 1/2 points.
- 2:10:40The Chargers defenses still look really good.
- 2:10:42So I think Kansas City wins with the Chargers cover.
- 2:10:46Chaz to you. Yeah, it is.
- 2:10:49How could you bet anything on Kansas City?
- 2:10:51It's just not with my money. Yeah, I kind of feel the same
- 2:10:56way. I I think the Chiefs magic is
- 2:10:58over. I'm not giving them a five and a
- 2:11:00half, 5 1/2 points that. Seems.
- 2:11:02Sick. That seems like a sick number.
- 2:11:05I, I, I don't understand that number.
- 2:11:08I'm I'm taking the Chargers and the points.
- 2:11:10I think the Chargers probably win this anyway to the coin.
- 2:11:18I'm on the opposite, boys. Ted's always at home.
- 2:11:24Mr. Marx. Who did Java take?
- 2:11:27Java is on the Chiefs 5 1/2 point. 5 1/2 Yes, there are.
- 2:11:34I hate that. I'm going to go Kansas City
- 2:11:38because they need the game so. I'm going to go Kansas.
- 2:11:40City. All right, we'll go to the one
- 2:11:41wacky big spread. We were talking about it
- 2:11:43earlier. I got to go back off now.
- 2:11:45Your boy Philip Rivers are all they are, 13 1/2 point underdogs
- 2:11:49at Seattle. It's weird though, I do think
- 2:11:52it's a lot of points for a team. Sauce is coming back this week
- 2:11:56too. There's a possibility of that,
- 2:11:59and the Colts of the Seahawks offense has been kind of shaky
- 2:12:02in recent weeks outside of the jig.
- 2:12:03But I think the Colts cover the spread.
- 2:12:05Seattle win the game, but I think indeed us cover the
- 2:12:07spread. How bad is the flooding out
- 2:12:09there? Did you guys see that?
- 2:12:12That's got it. That's got to impact something
- 2:12:14right with this game, doesn't I just I don't know what it is,
- 2:12:16but that's what am I? So I have a round Robin going
- 2:12:20with team totals and the next one is Seattle.
- 2:12:25I I think Seattle wins this game by many points.
- 2:12:29Give me the the Seahawks. Bam, I got tails too baby.
- 2:12:39And Java on the Colts covering. I, I want the Colts to win.
- 2:12:45I would like to see Philip Rivers just like chew the ear
- 2:12:48off of Sam Darnold after the game, but I don't think that's
- 2:12:51going to happen. I got Sam, Sammy baby in Seattle
- 2:12:55winning. Give me Seattle.
- 2:12:57All right, the Packers 2 1/2 point favorites on the road at
- 2:13:01the Denver Broncos. Another case where I just think
- 2:13:04the Broncos have to lose at some point.
- 2:13:05So just like the Patriots, they're too hot.
- 2:13:08Their offense still has been kind of up and down.
- 2:13:09Packers have looked good. They would probably be outside
- 2:13:11of the Rams and Seahawks, the next best team in the NFL right
- 2:13:13now for me. Give me Green Bay here.
- 2:13:15Yeah, again, this is what I think I've done.
- 2:13:17This is my last game that I have something for.
- 2:13:19I've got Deborah's team total over.
- 2:13:21I feel like the Packers, like you watch them and they're
- 2:13:25awesome the last couple of weeks, but every so often they
- 2:13:28have this game where you're just like, what the hell are they
- 2:13:30doing? I think it's this week.
- 2:13:32Give me Denver. All right, don't let me down.
- 2:13:37Carter will let me down. Come on, Coin.
- 2:13:41I got the home squad. And Java's on his his son's
- 2:13:49team. I've got the pack.
- 2:13:52I think the pack went this week. I I think Jordan Love has an
- 2:13:57unbelievable week this week. 40 point week.
- 2:14:00Give me Jordan Love in the pack. All right, I'll go to Sunday
- 2:14:04Night Football, the Vikings at the Cowboys.
- 2:14:06Dallas's six point favorites in this one.
- 2:14:08I it is a pretty big spread for a prime time game, but I'm going
- 2:14:11to take Dallas here. I think they bounced back.
- 2:14:12They played well enough to win against the Lions last week in
- 2:14:15the second-half. I'll take the Cowboys here to
- 2:14:16win and cover. So this is a game that I've got
- 2:14:19notes for, and here's what it says.
- 2:14:20It says Dallas at home has allowed 20 points to every
- 2:14:24single team that's coming to Dallas.
- 2:14:27For two straight seasons, every single team has scored 20
- 2:14:30points. Only two teams that haven't
- 2:14:34scored 13 or more in half one were New Jersey and Vegas.
- 2:14:40And if you think about it right, that shouldn't surprise you that
- 2:14:43those two teams don't score. However, I have no idea how
- 2:14:46that's going to help in this game.
- 2:14:48I got it's 5 1/2 points. I mean, I don't want to take
- 2:14:51Dallas, but I, I, I just can't take Minnesota right now.
- 2:14:55Yeah, I I don't know what to do with this Minnesota team.
- 2:14:58Smell my ass. They get shut out one week and
- 2:15:01then they dominate the next week.
- 2:15:03It's really hard to understand for me.
- 2:15:05At least with the Cowboys, you know that what they have it a
- 2:15:10chance at. You know they still didn't get
- 2:15:12in the playoffs. The Eagles are leaving that
- 2:15:14window open for them. I think they're going to go
- 2:15:16after it this week. Give me the Cowboys.
- 2:15:20Who this one's? This one's a tough one.
- 2:15:25Suck my Indo all right. Java is on the Vikings to cover.
- 2:15:33Anybody but the Vikings. So you know my answer.
- 2:15:37All right, before we get to our last game, we got a we got
- 2:15:40another betting guy back from his back from his vacation in in
- 2:15:44Mexico. Oh.
- 2:15:45There he is. He's back.
- 2:15:46He. Made in one.
- 2:15:49We made. I don't know about One Piece.
- 2:15:53So Johnny Hoops. Gets so cool.
- 2:15:55Hope you had a good trip and we got we had five games we got to
- 2:15:59and we'll get to the let's parlay ones in just a.
- 2:16:01Bit first thing. Johnny, the first one we had was
- 2:16:04the the Bills at the Patriots. The Bills are 1 1/2 point
- 2:16:07favorites on the road. Give me the Billies.
- 2:16:09I don't you know, I'm give me the Billies.
- 2:16:11I'm not, I'm not a believer in the Patriots all.
- 2:16:12Right, we got the Chargers at the Chiefs.
- 2:16:14Chiefs 5 point favorites at 5 1/2 point favorites at home.
- 2:16:19Give me the chargers. I don't care how cold it is.
- 2:16:21Give me the chargers all. Right, we got these big spread
- 2:16:23of the 13 1/2 boys against the potentially Philip Rivers LED
- 2:16:27Colts for the Seattle Seahawks. Seahawks 13.
- 2:16:30F1 big Phillip Rivers guy here. I'm not sure about Phillip
- 2:16:33Rivers at 44 years old, but much props to him.
- 2:16:37And I'm never going to lay 13. I rarely lay 13 in the NFL.
- 2:16:40I'll take, I'll take the Colts all.
- 2:16:41Right, the Packers are 2 1/2 point Rd. favorites against the
- 2:16:45Broncos. You want my cream pie and not
- 2:16:49really a believer in the I'm not Patriots and the Broncos are my
- 2:16:52two teams that I do not believe in, so I'm going to fade that as
- 2:16:55well. Take the Packers.
- 2:16:57All right, And then your former team, the Dallas Cowboys, 6
- 2:17:00point home favorites to the Vikings.
- 2:17:03Made my nipples. Hard, yeah.
- 2:17:04We kind of jump back on the bandwagon after a couple good
- 2:17:06wins. I was letting everybody know,
- 2:17:08but we're back off them looking for a new team.
- 2:17:10But right now, give me the Cowboys all.
- 2:17:13Right. And the streaks in my britch.
- 2:17:15I'll go Johnny, you'll go right after Chaz.
- 2:17:17Chaz is going to go second in this order.
- 2:17:18We'll finish off with the Lions at the Rams 5 1/2 point
- 2:17:22favorites the Rams are. I'm going to take the Rams in
- 2:17:24the spot to the lines. Just have too many injuries.
- 2:17:27I the Rams have been the best team in football by my eyeballs
- 2:17:31in a while now for a while. All right, Johnny, what do?
- 2:17:35You got I'm actually going to take take the lines in this
- 2:17:37spot. I really I are the lines that
- 2:17:41bad? I don't think so.
- 2:17:42I think their offense can score. I think getting points keep it
- 2:17:44close. They may lose the game, but I do
- 2:17:46think this game is a lot closer. Maybe a field goal late though
- 2:17:50to win the game. Diarrhea down their legs.
- 2:17:52What's the spread? Rams 5 1/2.
- 2:17:56Go suck on an egg and and. I think you got to take Lions
- 2:18:01here. I think it's that's a lot of
- 2:18:03points against a really good team.
- 2:18:05I think even if the if it's not a cover, they don't win.
- 2:18:08I think they cover that. It makes my pecker hard got
- 2:18:15tails. We're in the booty.
- 2:18:17Pulled it out of my ass. Rams are 5 1/2 point favorites
- 2:18:23rims against the Lions. All right, that's all I got for
- 2:18:26that. Yep, the Ramos, the Ramstees,
- 2:18:30the R.E.M. D Dandies.
- 2:18:32All right, ladies and gentlemen. So we're, we're going to have,
- 2:18:35we're going to have 4 minutes to get these guys their four top
- 2:18:40picks. As everybody knows, they gave
- 2:18:42you, there are three top ones and then they give you their
- 2:18:44parlay. You guys ready?
- 2:18:48We call this Let's parlay, parlay.
- 2:18:58It's time for the last one. LANE All right, boys, it's so we
- 2:19:07haven't had you 2 on at the same time in a while.
- 2:19:09It's an interesting time. No world wide W He's enjoying
- 2:19:14himself over there in Kansas City.
- 2:19:16Or is he? I don't know the loneliness of
- 2:19:19Taylor Swifties, as the Swifties might not be planning or
- 2:19:24planning to go to the playoffs anyway.
- 2:19:27So we're going to go Reno, Johnny, then we're going to go
- 2:19:29Chazz all the way through, all the way through to their four
- 2:19:32picks. All right, Reno, give us your
- 2:19:34number one. I think I bet it every year.
- 2:19:36Army, Navy, it is habitual for me.
- 2:19:38If if the game's there, I got to bet it.
- 2:19:40I think this is kind of a a steal for an over at 30 1/2.
- 2:19:43This line really is what it's like every year around the 3738.
- 2:19:48But this Army team can throw the ball a little bit more.
- 2:19:50I think both teams actually throw the ball a little bit
- 2:19:52more. They kind of aired out just a
- 2:19:54little bit, so you might get a game that doesn't move as
- 2:19:57quickly. I do think both teams can score.
- 2:19:59I think this Army team is a lot better than they started the
- 2:20:02year as. After this is over 38, you can
- 2:20:04find a 38. I bet it all we have 3939 1/2
- 2:20:09you can. All right, chassis, give us your
- 2:20:11number one. All right, so I again I have the
- 2:20:16New England Patriots team total over 24 1/2.
- 2:20:19Remember, I'm not done, but I was close enough to be able to
- 2:20:23go with a round Robin. Now this is the time I have to
- 2:20:27mention because you forgot to remind me.
- 2:20:30We also Portnoy go off right. That was a 5 teamer for me.
- 2:20:35I had I had Denver in the under and I'm telling my son it's a
- 2:20:41bad beat. He goes well, it's not that bad.
- 2:20:43I had a bad beat. So what happened with him?
- 2:20:45And the reason I want to bring it up is I want your guys
- 2:20:47opinion. There's three of you.
- 2:20:48So it'll be whoever 2 to 1, whatever, whoever wins.
- 2:20:52He said it was his worst bad beat was the BYU game.
- 2:20:55BYU was was winning and covering, but they weren't
- 2:21:01covering the teaser and he had the teaser.
- 2:21:03He pays bigger tickets than I do.
- 2:21:05He's not Johnny, you know, the GMF tickets, you know, but and
- 2:21:12and then they didn't kneel and they ran and he scored and he
- 2:21:15lost his teaser and then I had you know, so I don't know what
- 2:21:18porno had it. I just saw the rant.
- 2:21:20I don't know if he just had Denver.
- 2:21:21He had, but it cost oh the side and the total on that one field
- 2:21:26goal with was after a penalty was just mind boggling.
- 2:21:31But. I was so.
- 2:21:32Proud of myself because I didn't even swear.
- 2:21:35I was. So I was in such shock.
- 2:21:38And then I saw how he reacted or I was even more proud of myself.
- 2:21:41But it was a five team round Robin.
- 2:21:43Oh, it was. Brutal.
- 2:21:45I, I was, I was on the opposite side.
- 2:21:47I don't think it was a bad because I I hit that.
- 2:21:49I will say the strategy. Penalty was why it was a bad
- 2:21:52beat, right? The guy's on the ground.
- 2:21:54Time out, time out, time out, time out.
- 2:21:56We care about that because it was a 10 point game.
- 2:21:59Is that the rule? Is that the rule?
- 2:22:00Because if it's a 7 point game that's cold, it's a 3 point.
- 2:22:03I'm a football player. Listen to me.
- 2:22:05The guys on the ground, there's no timeouts.
- 2:22:07They got no timeouts. Touch them, Just touch them and
- 2:22:10then let the clock run out. That's what football players do.
- 2:22:13That's not what. Stupid people do.
- 2:22:15Stupid people do what that guy did, which is he flocked the
- 2:22:18ball and got a penalty for. It and you know what, I always
- 2:22:22say this and I'll get to my next pick.
- 2:22:24Good teams win and the Broncos were a good team, great teams
- 2:22:28cup and that's what the Raiders they cup.
- 2:22:30Go ahead, Reno, give us your number. 2 next game we're going
- 2:22:32to head to the NFL, which by the way, we're killing it tonight
- 2:22:35here in this Falcons game with two, two TDs for Pitts.
- 2:22:39That was a good little part. Little parlay ticket there for
- 2:22:43me. We're going to go to the Buffalo
- 2:22:44Bills. This is going to be one of my
- 2:22:45games I'm going to give out. I gave it out in the sixth pack.
- 2:22:47I think the Bills are going to win this game.
- 2:22:49They're not going to be deterred by by by weather.
- 2:22:53And I look at this Patriots team, I do give them credit at a
- 2:22:56good win in Buffalo, but outside of that win in Buffalo and a
- 2:22:59good win against a team that was kind of high in the Buccaneers,
- 2:23:01who the hell has this team beat? They really haven't beat
- 2:23:04anybody. They they are not a good
- 2:23:06football team in my opinion. People don't like Drake made,
- 2:23:08but you know what you can be if you're an MVP quarterback too,
- 2:23:11if you can go against every 3 and 12 team in the NFLI think
- 2:23:15they're overrated at this spot. I do think that you're going to
- 2:23:17get a bills pretty much even money to win the game.
- 2:23:19I love the bills in this spot, especially after losing.
- 2:23:22I don't care they're on the road.
- 2:23:24They're not going to be deterred.
- 2:23:25Give me Joshy, give me the boys in Buffalo Bills mafia.
- 2:23:29They win the game all. Right, Mr. Chaz, give us your
- 2:23:32number 2. Jacksonville team total over.
- 2:23:38All right. 27 1/2. I'm going to take a different
- 2:23:44way in the Colts game here. I think the Colts was 4 points.
- 2:23:47I'm not sure. I think 13 is a lot of points
- 2:23:51for them to cover. I like that as well, but I kind
- 2:23:53of already get that out. So I want to do something a
- 2:23:55little bit different. I'm going to take the Colts to
- 2:23:59score their team total. I think they do have enough,
- 2:24:02especially with with Jonathan Taylor.
- 2:24:04They'll get enough. You have a team total guys
- 2:24:06sitting around 13 1/2, two touchdowns and one it was 14
- 2:24:111/2. But you're telling me they can't
- 2:24:13score 15 points? They got they got they got ball
- 2:24:15players. They also got a good defense.
- 2:24:16I think their defense may be forced to turnover or two, maybe
- 2:24:19get a short field, couple field, But I think it's just way too
- 2:24:22low. The total for me, give me I
- 2:24:24don't care. Brian Hunter, Phillip Rivers, I
- 2:24:27don't care. Mid Colts team total.
- 2:24:29All right, Chaz, give us your #3.
- 2:24:31Well, you're going to love this then, because I I love to see
- 2:24:34that game be 3736. I don't care who wins because I
- 2:24:38got the other steam deep total over the Seahawks.
- 2:24:41All right, Final pick. Reno, Johnny.
- 2:24:46This is the game that is going to give me nightmares because I
- 2:24:49I told myself I would not bet this game, but I'm going to do
- 2:24:52it and I'm going to take Joe Cool, so cool to win the game
- 2:24:56against Lamar Jackson. I I will say this.
- 2:24:59They're out of the playoff run. They're, you know, the boys just
- 2:25:02playing football. Yeah, he's he's going to play.
- 2:25:04If they're going to try to win the game, I don't think they
- 2:25:07care that they're out. They're they Joe Barrow said it.
- 2:25:10I get paid millions of dollars to pay to play this game if I'm
- 2:25:12healthy and want to play. I love their offense.
- 2:25:16I'm I'm still not sold on what this Ravens offense is.
- 2:25:20Defense isn't as good as it was last year.
- 2:25:23Think we get a higher scoring game.
- 2:25:24I can't bet 51. Don't throw too much, but give
- 2:25:26me the Bengals to win this game on the money line.
- 2:25:28I'm not going to take the points in the money line at about plus
- 2:25:301/25. All right, Chaz, give us your
- 2:25:33final pick of the night. And I gotta go with this guys
- 2:25:36game. Total over.
- 2:25:40All right, boys, it was wonderful to have you chassis.
- 2:25:46I saw Reno Johnny jet out. I don't know what he did.
- 2:25:48Yeah, he was headed to deal with the little guy.
- 2:25:50All right. Did he give us 4 or just three?
- 2:25:53He gave us a four. Yeah, he gave Bengals money
- 2:25:55line. Bengals.
- 2:25:56Money. Cincinnati, Yeah.
- 2:25:58OK. Yeah, you know what?
- 2:26:00I'm telling you right now, any of these guys, I don't know how
- 2:26:04you found these guys. I I really don't know how you
- 2:26:06found all the handicapps you have in your show, But any of
- 2:26:09these guys give you a ticket and you don't bet it.
- 2:26:12You're stupid. It's just that simple because
- 2:26:15they win a lot. You know, the numbers, you've
- 2:26:17been keeping the numbers. So.
- 2:26:20Yeah. So, you know, he gives out four
- 2:26:22teams. I throw it in a pilot.
- 2:26:23I usually do a round Robin in case he goes three and one.
- 2:26:25These round Robins are great until, you know, you have that
- 2:26:27Portnoy situation. But understand the guy was down,
- 2:26:32they had no time out, the clock was gonna run out.
- 2:26:36He ripped into the guys stomach and pulled the ball out.
- 2:26:40For what reason I have no idea. All right Jazzy, that was it.
- 2:26:46We got a. Lot of show left we appreciate.
- 2:26:49It hey, hey, Saturday night we'll give it another best bet
- 2:26:53winner. How's that sound?
- 2:26:55How's he? Yeah, buddy, he tasted.
- 2:26:56Out of trouble, guys. Thank you, Chaz.
- 2:26:58Thank you, Reno. Johnny, you.
- 2:26:59Guys. Fantastic.
- 2:27:00All right, ladies and gentlemen, we're going to go to a quick
- 2:27:03break. It's quick.
- 2:27:04And then we got Jabba rules and we have Charlie Slows joining us
- 2:27:09to talk some baseball. I asked him to come on.
- 2:27:13Daryl Reed couldn't join us and he's been waiting really
- 2:27:16patiently in the back end. So when we come back, we got
- 2:27:19Charlie Slows, we got Jabba Rules, got some baseball.
- 2:27:22We come back here on Job of the Mouth.
- 2:27:27This is the Jabba and the Mouth Sportsman ads.
- 2:27:32All right guys, Aaron Fishman here with your job in Mount
- 2:27:35Sports Minute got a couple of stories for you before we get
- 2:27:38through the scores this evening. The Fighting Irish are certainly
- 2:27:41living up to their name after raising a huge stink getting
- 2:27:44snubbed by the College Football Playoff committee from the 12
- 2:27:46team playoff this year. While the fighting continues
- 2:27:49Thursday as multiple ADS are aligning against Notre Dame for
- 2:27:53their apparently preferential treatment as a non conference
- 2:27:57school starting next season. Next year, if Notre Dame
- 2:28:01finishes the season in the top 12, they will be given an
- 2:28:04automatic playoff berth. This has more than rankled the
- 2:28:07status quo of college football. And earlier on Thursday, a
- 2:28:10report from Yahoo Sports is Dan Wolken states that the athletic
- 2:28:14directors around the NCAA are conspiring, conspiring openly
- 2:28:19against Notre Dame, threatening to freeze them out of matchups
- 2:28:22with their schools so they won't be able to have a high enough
- 2:28:25ranking to make the playoffs. The treatment is certainly
- 2:28:30preferential, but one can argue, and it appears Notre Dame has
- 2:28:32argued this successfully to the NCAA at least, that the Irish
- 2:28:36are a national brand and should be put on TV over other programs
- 2:28:40that will bring in less revenue and fewer eyeballs to the
- 2:28:43product. Either way, get your popcorn
- 2:28:45ready. This story is only just getting
- 2:28:47going. Future Hall of Fame tight end
- 2:28:50Travis Kelsey, in his usual honest, hard on his sleep
- 2:28:54fashion, went on his New Heights podcast Wednesday with his
- 2:28:56brother Jason and confessed that he has no answers for his fall
- 2:29:00off in production and the team's season long slump, which has put
- 2:29:04them on the precipice of missing the playoffs for the first time
- 2:29:07since Patrick Mahomes his rookie season.
- 2:29:09When he backed up Alex Smith in 2014, they were nine and seven
- 2:29:13that year. This season has been clearly the
- 2:29:16worst season in the home the Mahomes era Chiefs, and a lot of
- 2:29:19that is due to Father Time finally taking its toll on
- 2:29:21Kelsey, who was once on guardable and unstoppable in
- 2:29:25tandem with Tyree Kill. In what seems like distant
- 2:29:27history looking back at the product on the field today,
- 2:29:31Kelsey had drops on back-to-back plays late in the Chiefs latest
- 2:29:35loss to the Texans, the second of which was picked off, killing
- 2:29:38Casey's comeback chances. I keep thinking if I show up to
- 2:29:41work and I put in the work and I fix the issues through practice,
- 2:29:45my practice habits and through perfecting the game plan and my
- 2:29:48fundamentals and what I'm being taught and go out there and try
- 2:29:51and play my ass off for the guys next to me, it's all going to
- 2:29:54come together like it has in years past.
- 2:29:56And this year, it is just not man.
- 2:29:59Well, while this might be the end of the line for Travis
- 2:30:02Kelsey, he has plenty of hardware to his name.
- 2:30:05He is a surefire Hall of Famer and is marrying the most famous
- 2:30:08and one of the more wealthy women perhaps in the world.
- 2:30:11I think he'll be fine even if this is the end of the line for
- 2:30:15one of the top five or so tight ends of all time.

- 2:32:45into. We've got Jabba rules history in
- 2:32:49the making you. Ready Jabba Rules Rules.
- 2:32:53Like the streaks in my britches. I've always like the job rules
- 2:32:57now. And it's so awesome that you
- 2:33:00brought Charlie in for this because this was one of those,
- 2:33:04one of those rules where I, I wanted to get into it.
- 2:33:08And obviously now having Charlie on is, is huge.
- 2:33:12But winter meetings are very anti climactic for me this year.
- 2:33:17And we knew. We kind of knew.
- 2:33:19What was what? Was going to happen in the names
- 2:33:22that we saw, but there wasn't. There wasn't anything that like
- 2:33:27struck me where it was surprising or anything or any
- 2:33:32team did anything. And I don't know if that's
- 2:33:36because they're, they're looking at what's going to happen with
- 2:33:40the CBA or they're, they're looking at that and as far as
- 2:33:43like certain things that are happening in the game and
- 2:33:45evolving. But for me, it was like the
- 2:33:49winter meetings were it, it didn't do much for me.
- 2:33:53I usually get excited around this time, like being a part of
- 2:33:56it and doing it and understanding like kind of what
- 2:34:00they do. And like the back end that we
- 2:34:02don't see when, you know, guys are sliding in the back door
- 2:34:05and, and, and having meetings with, with the owners and the
- 2:34:08presidents and all the other stuff.
- 2:34:11But this year just didn't really do anything for me.
- 2:34:14And we got basically what, 3 big signings, kind of maybe Edwin to
- 2:34:21the Dodgers was a little bit surprising, but we didn't have a
- 2:34:26Tucker. We didn't have anybody else that
- 2:34:29we, we thought might happen. And so for me, what didn't rule
- 2:34:36in winter meetings was the winter meetings.
- 2:34:38I, I, I think it was, it was very mundane and very boring.
- 2:34:44And Charlie, do you think the CBA like is, is it affecting
- 2:34:47this is as far as like all the things that are happening or,
- 2:34:51or, or am I overthinking it? Well, you, you triggered
- 2:34:55something that I read today trying to think it was
- 2:35:00attributed to, but it was just kind of a group thing.
- 2:35:02And it's going to be back on with you guys, by the way, that
- 2:35:07the winter meetings used to be a bigger deal before social media
- 2:35:12and texting became such a big thing because it was when people
- 2:35:17got in front of each other. And actually now it's just like
- 2:35:22a shake of a hand. And you know, but it's not like
- 2:35:26they don't see each other, talk to each other because they're
- 2:35:30texting even while they're at the winter meetings where it
- 2:35:32used to be like face to face made something happen.
- 2:35:36Now it's, I basically heard one GM wasn't quoted saying we could
- 2:35:42not have the winter meetings and the same things would take place
- 2:35:47that took place. Maybe you wouldn't have had Pete
- 2:35:50Alonso drive from Tampa to Orlando to meet with Orioles
- 2:35:53people and seal the deal if there weren't a winter meetings
- 2:35:58and he was driving an hour and a half from his home in the Tampa
- 2:36:02area to Orlando to do this. But they said, you know, they're
- 2:36:05saying, really deals are going to happen after the winter
- 2:36:09meetings are over because everybody is texting all the
- 2:36:12time and talking all the time. And so it isn't the like this
- 2:36:15big thing where you get everyone together and something huge is
- 2:36:18going to happen at that moment. And that's maybe what makes it
- 2:36:23different than what it used to be.
- 2:36:28You know. We can blame it again on texting
- 2:36:31and social media. You know what's so funny?
- 2:36:33And I want to, I want to get into the New York Mets because
- 2:36:38we had our own take to it, Charlie.
- 2:36:40And there's a lot going on with the New York Mets over here.
- 2:36:43A lot of fans want to just completely drop the hammer on
- 2:36:46David Stearns and Steve Cohen. Your thoughts on the New York
- 2:36:50Mets in this absolute debacle? What you know, I can see, you
- 2:36:57know, they send Brandon Nimmo to a big deal and maybe they
- 2:37:01thought that it was going to project out the way they had
- 2:37:04hoped to think. They saw a way to get out of the
- 2:37:06length of that deal, even by Marcus Simeon, an older player
- 2:37:11who's making more money in the short term.
- 2:37:16They lost Edwin Diaz over $3 million over the course of that
- 2:37:21deal. So basically, it didn't come
- 2:37:23down to money for Edwin Diaz. If if $3,000,000 at that point
- 2:37:28wasn't going to make a difference, if he still wanted
- 2:37:30to be a Met, they could have matched that deal or he could
- 2:37:33have taken that deal if he really wanted to be with the
- 2:37:37Mets. But then you know, after you've
- 2:37:41lost him and you're coming down to Pete Alonso and you figure
- 2:37:48Alonso was pissed the way things went last year, right?
- 2:37:52He got a two year deal with an out after one year to become a
- 2:37:56free agent again and that they told him they weren't going to
- 2:37:59go more than three years. So sure, if you're him, you're
- 2:38:02coming off another great year production wise.
- 2:38:05You're the all time Mets home run leader.
- 2:38:07Why wouldn't you see if somebody's going to give you 4
- 2:38:10or five years and then they weren't even involved in it
- 2:38:13after that point, which OK, there's a long way to go in the
- 2:38:18offseason, but where is there another player who's going to
- 2:38:23produce what Pete Alonso does offensively?
- 2:38:26Are you, if you get Cody Ballinger, seems like he wants
- 2:38:29to be back with the Yankees if they make the right deal, you're
- 2:38:33not getting Bellinger. So who else is going to produce
- 2:38:39and provide those kind of numbers right now with the line
- 2:38:42if they have, OK, put Mark Vientos in it first or maybe you
- 2:38:46get William Contreras come up. Contreras is not Pete Alonso
- 2:38:49offensive now, not even close. So I don't know where they come
- 2:38:55up with those numbers, but unless you have a presence
- 2:38:57behind Juan Soto, good luck paying him all that money to
- 2:39:01walk 150 times. That's what's going to happen.
- 2:39:04Charlie, I got an idea because I've been hearing that
- 2:39:07Philadelphia just gave Schwaber a lot of money, well enough
- 2:39:11money. I wouldn't say a lot of money,
- 2:39:12but a fair, a fair contract, $30 million that you're hearing that
- 2:39:17Bryce Harper could be available. Do the Mets trade for Bryce
- 2:39:20Harper and move him to first base.
- 2:39:22That gives you that solidify. I don't know if it's it's Pete
- 2:39:25Alonzo power numbers, but it gives you that power in the
- 2:39:28lineup and and by the way, Juan Soto and him are very close.
- 2:39:30So maybe something like that. Do you see that happening?
- 2:39:34They say there's no chance in the world Dave Dabrowski is
- 2:39:40trading Bryce Harper to the Mets.
- 2:39:43There is nothing that they will get back the the Phillies.
- 2:39:49The Phillies are still in in that by giving Schwarber the
- 2:39:52money and last year, you know, they they locked up their
- 2:39:57starting pitching and, you know, maybe they might lose one of
- 2:40:00their starters this year. If they do anything else,
- 2:40:03they're going to get another starting pitcher to solidify the
- 2:40:06rotation. But the Phillies to me, are
- 2:40:09still on the cusp of a team that that's a World Series contender.
- 2:40:13They're in at the age of their players, especially if they
- 2:40:16signed Rio Muto. They're in win Now mode again.
- 2:40:20Charlie, what do you, what do you think too on, on that?
- 2:40:22Sorry to cut you off, but what do you think too like obviously
- 2:40:26with Preston being in the front office for the Phillies, what do
- 2:40:29you think adding Donnie Baseball to, to that?
- 2:40:33And I had the fortunate pleasure, obviously, to, to be
- 2:40:36with Tomper and and Kevin Long and those guys.
- 2:40:39What do you think he adds to that dynamic of, of the
- 2:40:43clubhouse and, and on the bench? He's Donnie Baseball.
- 2:40:49You know, everybody wants, by the way, that air committee
- 2:40:52missed, missed on it missed. But but I mean, Bryce Harper is
- 2:40:58a student of the game, the history of the game.
- 2:41:02He's one of the most knowledgeable players about
- 2:41:05baseball and sports in general. He'll tell you the third string
- 2:41:09long snapper is on Division 3 football teams.
- 2:41:12This guy's locked in on everything.
- 2:41:14So believe me, whatever knowledge that he can pull out
- 2:41:18of Don Mataley that can help him or help his team win, he's going
- 2:41:22to do and he's going to want everybody else to be part of
- 2:41:25that also. And you know, you have their
- 2:41:28manager who was part of that group also in New York.
- 2:41:32I mean, so well. And you know what people, what
- 2:41:35people don't understand about what Tomper did, Topper ran
- 2:41:39everything. He literally spring training.
- 2:41:42He was there at 4:30 shaving his beard.
- 2:41:44He shaves every day. He was there running everything
- 2:41:48like Thomas ran everything and he's unbelievable.
- 2:41:53I don't think he gets it. It took him so many years in
- 2:41:57people that know the game as you've been around it.
- 2:41:59Thomas went from every level of everything that he did and he
- 2:42:03was very well deserving. The only other person that I
- 2:42:07have come encounter with that should be a manager that hasn't
- 2:42:13is Sandy Alamar. How is that?
- 2:42:18How is that not happen? How does that not happen at the
- 2:42:23same time, at the same time this year?
- 2:42:26I want to ask you this too. We're we're in New York playing
- 2:42:31the Yankees, the Nationals in late August.
- 2:42:34And Willie Randolph's walking around behind the cage, right?
- 2:42:37He's he's he's like, you didn't even I didn't even get to it,
- 2:42:43right? I didn't even get to it.
- 2:42:46And I what I wanted to ask Willie because I became close
- 2:42:50with Lou Penelo when he managed in Tampa Bay and I was there
- 2:42:52calling their games. And you know, these are to me
- 2:42:57Lou's royalty, right, Lou Penelo.
- 2:43:00And you know, he went through a lot with prostate cancer and,
- 2:43:06you know, his body took a toll. And when you see Lou, he he
- 2:43:09looks every bit of 81 years old now.
- 2:43:11He does. He doesn't look like the Lou you
- 2:43:13remember. But I said to Willie, how did
- 2:43:16Lou look when you stomach Yankees old timer say, and he
- 2:43:18goes, you know, he kind of like rallied and like come back.
- 2:43:21And it was like the Lou you knew.
- 2:43:23And I'm thinking as I'm talking to him and I said to will, I
- 2:43:25said, Willie, how are you not working in bed?
- 2:43:27How are you not teaching baseball to somebody?
- 2:43:32And he said, you know, for the life of me, I can't figure it
- 2:43:35out. And, and he told me Yankees
- 2:43:39people don't want him talking to the players about the game.
- 2:43:43He's a club ambassador, represents them, but they don't
- 2:43:46want him to be teaching the game.
- 2:43:48And I'm like, wow, wow. I, I know he managed the Mets
- 2:43:54and they had that epic collapse, 17 games left, seven game lead
- 2:43:58and they don't win. But how does that guy not have
- 2:44:01something that that he can give to young players with the with
- 2:44:06the era and the era and the teams that he played on?
- 2:44:10But it just takes me to what you what you, what we were talking
- 2:44:13about to begin with in in this conversation, Don Magley, Willie
- 2:44:17Randolph, those guys are baseball royalty.
- 2:44:22They should have always have a place in the game, you know, And
- 2:44:26that being said, everybody's moving towards hiring guys who
- 2:44:32worked at Driveline Baseball. I knew I knew exactly where
- 2:44:35you're going to go with this. And I know Speedy has something
- 2:44:37to say because he the team, the team I work for.
- 2:44:42Now, when I go to spring training, I will not know a
- 2:44:44single. Let's say I've been with the
- 2:44:47Nationals for 21 years. I was with Tampa Bay for seven.
- 2:44:50I did fill insurance for several years for the Orioles and the
- 2:44:53Mets. I literally will not know one
- 2:44:56person other than Sean Doolittle coming back who will be on the
- 2:45:00coaching staff, the big league staff, just John.
- 2:45:03And that's maybe never happened. Before.
- 2:45:05John, but a pretty perspective. So CC and I were talking about
- 2:45:07this last week. Literally the average age of the
- 2:45:10Nationals coaching staff is going to what'd you say about 31
- 2:45:12or something like that? 11 coach who's 51, who's in his
- 2:45:1740s, who's who's been in the big leagues, is a big league
- 2:45:21catching coach. But you know, other than
- 2:45:23Doolittle, none of the others have ever coached at the Major
- 2:45:26League level. Yeah, neither is the manager.
- 2:45:29So it doesn't mean, it doesn't mean you won't have success, but
- 2:45:34it's just you're you're going to a different era where this was
- 2:45:38interesting a couple of years ago.
- 2:45:42A guy I was with when the Nationals started in 2005, Brad
- 2:45:45Wilkerson, was an outfielder who came with them from Montreal
- 2:45:49when the team moved and he was the assistant hitting coach for
- 2:45:53the Yankees. And he told me he could see
- 2:45:56video of everything that was being worked on with players at
- 2:46:00every level of the farm system. And the guys who were in the
- 2:46:03cage with the hitters were video guys.
- 2:46:06They weren't, they weren't, they were the ones who the coaches,
- 2:46:09but they were video guys that weren't guys who played baseball
- 2:46:13necessarily. And so it kind of it kind of is
- 2:46:17a mind blow, but you know, all of it now is these guys who can
- 2:46:21look at a player, determine what their swing path is, what
- 2:46:27pitches they're supposed to swing at to have the best
- 2:46:29success. And that's got to be their
- 2:46:32approach. So, you know, maybe this started
- 2:46:36with Tampa Bay where they were making out line UPS based on who
- 2:46:39the pitcher is. Well, if this guy's a fastball
- 2:46:42pitcher, these guys are going to play.
- 2:46:43If this guy's an off speed pitcher, these guys are going to
- 2:46:46play. And the guys who hit fastballs
- 2:46:48won't play. You know, and, and I guess it's
- 2:46:52a way to get around not having a lineup of eight guys who can
- 2:46:56just freaking hit anybody. You know, that's how you're
- 2:47:00trying to maximize success now. And the same story with
- 2:47:04pitchers. You know, we're going to put all
- 2:47:06these cameras up and determine your, your, your best pitch is
- 2:47:13all that other stuff. Your, your, your angles, your
- 2:47:16tilt, your spin, you know, then you listen to the Doctor Who's
- 2:47:22doing all of the Tommy John surgeries with the, with the
- 2:47:25internal brace, saying all this may not be the best way to go
- 2:47:29because guys are just trying to maximize every pitch for as long
- 2:47:33as they can until they blow out. That's that's the thing.
- 2:47:36Charlie too, where like I, I look at it too.
- 2:47:39And and as as you reference the guys that we've talked about, we
- 2:47:45don't have enough baseball dudes in front offices like we see
- 2:47:51like obviously now see why in Texas, what do you do?
- 2:47:56He ended up going to win. Buster's doing a lot of really
- 2:48:01cool things. What did see why do at Texas?
- 2:48:03He brought in Bochy, what they do.
- 2:48:05They won a World Series right right away.
- 2:48:08What's? Buster going to do like they're
- 2:48:10going to bring baseball guys in and it's why why do these minds
- 2:48:15that we have that should be at the pinnacle and leading an
- 2:48:22organization or leading A-Team, But when we're relying on
- 2:48:27freaking dudes that are literally an MIT grad that looks
- 2:48:31at numbers and be like, this guy's going to be great.
- 2:48:34Well, no, put eyes on the prize, right?
- 2:48:37Like it's it's stratomatic baseball and it's it's
- 2:48:44frustrating as old. I'm a old school baseball guy.
- 2:48:47I'm a Advil long toss and run that that's what I do.
- 2:48:51And I teach kids and my son's a sophomore in college.
- 2:48:54What we do is we play long toss. We do these things and do I look
- 2:48:59at certain things and I have to adjust to because I know the
- 2:49:03game is changing and it and it is changing in in certain ways
- 2:49:06do it. But do I think, and we've talked
- 2:49:08about this plenty of times on the show.
- 2:49:10There is there is a place for those things, but when we have
- 2:49:15great minds that are in the game that we all know and that we
- 2:49:19see, why are they not put in a position to be able to take care
- 2:49:26of a team and and do it in the baseball sense?
- 2:49:30Not in the analytical sense, in the baseball sense, because
- 2:49:35we've seen now where it's changed.
- 2:49:37And I think, and Ariel will say the same thing, like he hates
- 2:49:41the Dodgers because of what they're doing.
- 2:49:44But also if I'm a player, they're spending the money and
- 2:49:49giving me, I want to go play with those guys.
- 2:49:53But if I have somebody else and. What we're asking right now.
- 2:49:58Yes, he has a great example because talked about his brother
- 2:50:03who had success in Cincinnati and then fell off and then they
- 2:50:09he ends up in in LA, even though he wasn't there long, he told
- 2:50:13his brother what it was like there and how they treat
- 2:50:15everybody. And so if if Edwin Diaz felt his
- 2:50:20path to win was with the Mets, would $3,000,000 at that point
- 2:50:24make that much difference to him?
- 2:50:26OK. But Charlie, at the same time
- 2:50:27what we're talking about? Who, who?
- 2:50:30Who? Is in that dugout every day.
- 2:50:33Who is he? Dave Roberts, a player gets it,
- 2:50:39understands it. And why do they do these things?
- 2:50:45And you see the success of these coaches that have played the
- 2:50:51game and put guys in situations to where it's like, hey, I can I
- 2:50:56can see these things. And I know the numbers may not
- 2:51:01tell me what's actually going to happen or it may tell me what's
- 2:51:05going to happen, but I'm watching the game.
- 2:51:08I'm watching the game. And that's what they do.
- 2:51:11Like we seen it. Like one of the most prime
- 2:51:13examples I think about is you. You brought up Tampa, right?
- 2:51:19Look at Snow when they took a while.
- 2:51:21He's facing the line for the third time.
- 2:51:23What happened? They end up freaking losing a
- 2:51:25World Series because of their analytical aspect, not you
- 2:51:28watching the damn game, right? That night he was lights out and
- 2:51:34you made a decision based on it, everything that happened in his
- 2:51:38career up until then, but you didn't trust that night that he
- 2:51:42could go further. And the other part of it was
- 2:51:45once you went to the bullpen and you're in Game 7, they're
- 2:51:49bringing in the same, no offense to relievers, but they're
- 2:51:52bringing in the same relievers. Who?
- 2:51:54Pitched in every game of the series who were probably a
- 2:51:59little bit gassed at that point, but it's not a different look
- 2:52:03anymore to the hitter cuz they've no.
- 2:52:05Seen them all the more the more they.
- 2:52:07See us at that point, the more they see us, it's like you, you
- 2:52:11already know that what my sequences are you, you know
- 2:52:15these things. And we switched that up and and
- 2:52:16that's why we're trying to play chess and not checkers.
- 2:52:20Charlie's team in the in the nationals, well, they won.
- 2:52:22They were bringing starters out of the pen and kind of defying
- 2:52:24those obviously bullpen's. Got shakiness.
- 2:52:28We didn't. We didn't have enough people in
- 2:52:30the bullpen. Yeah.
- 2:52:32Our bullpen was was not very good.
- 2:52:35You had basically you had Doolittle and Hudson.
- 2:52:38So I mean, that wasn't something that wasn't done before where
- 2:52:42teams would put starters. It wasn't as in the home, in
- 2:52:45the. Postseason.
- 2:52:46But we we did it a lot that postseason.
- 2:52:49We did it with Scherzer, we did it with Strasburg, which helped
- 2:52:52the Nationals win the Wild Card game.
- 2:52:55Patrick Corbin, Those are the best 3 innings he had in six.
- 2:52:58Years with the Nationals. And he was only supposed to
- 2:53:01pitch 1 inning, 1 inning, the 6th inning after Scherzer
- 2:53:05pitched the first five in Game 7.
- 2:53:07And Scherzer was the one saying leave them in, leave them in.
- 2:53:10We don't have enough to get to Doolittle and Hudson.
- 2:53:13He ended up pitching 3 innings, lights out, nobody got on base.
- 2:53:17And then they turned the game around against the Astros, who
- 2:53:20took their starter out. After he gave up.
- 2:53:23He was pitching shut out ball gives up a solo home run, they
- 2:53:26take him out and the Nationals hit two home runs and turn the
- 2:53:31game around and score 6 unanswered runs.
- 2:53:33So I mean, Greg Food was lights out, but they didn't trust him
- 2:53:39to go deeper into the game. Same thing.
- 2:53:41We've talked about this too, and Ariel L will chime in because I
- 2:53:44know as soon as I say this exactly what he's going to say.
- 2:53:48But when we were winning stick, Michael was in our front office
- 2:53:52and I know who you're going to say that did other things.
- 2:53:56They're all I know what you're going to say.
- 2:53:58But you got a baseball dude that came his way to Trenton, NJ to
- 2:54:04watch me pitch and be like, this kid can help us in the big
- 2:54:06leagues. It wasn't like, oh, he's doing
- 2:54:09this, he's doing that. And other guys that helped the
- 2:54:12team. He's like, I have to like, and
- 2:54:14he even told me this and God rest his soul, he was like, I
- 2:54:18have to, I have to see it. I want to see it like you can
- 2:54:22tell me how good he is in his numbers, but if I don't see it
- 2:54:26and it ain't there, that's not going to be what we want.
- 2:54:32And we I don't I don't think we have enough of that like because
- 2:54:37it it starts so young now where everything is exit below it's
- 2:54:41spin, right? It's all this other stuff.
- 2:54:44But let's put an eye on a prize. You you look at so many guys
- 2:54:47that have played this game where if you would have put them on a
- 2:54:51track man or a rap Sato or whatever it is and they had
- 2:54:55those, you wouldn't have spent 2 seconds on them.
- 2:55:02But they're gamers. Dustin Pedroia, perfect example.
- 2:55:07And there's way more. Billy too small, too small.
- 2:55:13They're not good enough. They're not big enough.
- 2:55:17Goes wins a rookie a year and MVP like he's a gamer Charlie
- 2:55:24and if you came to your eyes on a prize.
- 2:55:26Charlie, you mentioned Willie, Willie Randolph and you're
- 2:55:30saying that Willie Randolph, obviously the Yankees aren't
- 2:55:32letting him work with the younger guys.
- 2:55:34And, and we've seen this Andy Pettitte for years.
- 2:55:37He used to go to spring training.
- 2:55:38All of them usually go to spring training and work with the
- 2:55:41younger kids. And you have Reggie Jackson, who
- 2:55:44I think the Yankees did him wrong and that's why he went to
- 2:55:47the Astros. And that's.
- 2:55:48Why he no, he'd burn his own bridge.
- 2:55:50Well, I'm sure I don't know. You probably know more than I
- 2:55:53do, but I I think that obviously Reggie Jackson is a guy that
- 2:55:57I've always liked. I've always respected his game
- 2:56:00and and what he's all about. I checked out his Reggie
- 2:56:03documentary, by the way. It's sensational pride put a put
- 2:56:07a really good product out there. And I haven't even checked out
- 2:56:10Alex Rodriguez documentary, which I heard is really, really
- 2:56:13good too. So one of these days I'm going
- 2:56:14to get to that Charlie Jabba's talking about obviously the game
- 2:56:19and how a lot of these ex players, the guys that know the
- 2:56:22game very, very well, why aren't they put in the position to
- 2:56:25succeed from the guys that don't know the game?
- 2:56:28Is there a particular organization right now besides
- 2:56:31the teams that we bring up, Tampa being one of them that
- 2:56:34have been very well known to develop players?
- 2:56:37Is there a particular organization that you have
- 2:56:40watched grow players in the farm system that you believe has
- 2:56:45really transitioned the game and helped the game grow over the
- 2:56:48last couple of years? Is there a particular
- 2:56:50organization that you like out of all the rest?
- 2:56:54I think, you know, Atlanta has always been good at homegrown
- 2:56:59players coming up through their system, maybe not as much in
- 2:57:02recent years. They've always been able to
- 2:57:04identify players in the Atlanta area and have scouted and
- 2:57:08drafted them and developed them to get to the big league level.
- 2:57:13You know, the Dodgers maybe not as much in recent years.
- 2:57:16A lot of their prospects, they used to trade, but again, you
- 2:57:23developed a Will Smith. They have the money now to go
- 2:57:27out and still sign whoever they want.
- 2:57:30So they haven't developed as many.
- 2:57:31You've got their center fielders come through the organization.
- 2:57:35You know, I, I, I think, you know, more teams that don't have
- 2:57:40the financial resources are focused on trying to develop
- 2:57:44players and get them to the big leagues through their farm
- 2:57:47system. So what, what you know, it's,
- 2:57:49it's not that, it's not that what you find out is it's not
- 2:57:53that easy. It's not that easy.
- 2:57:56And so that's why you have these organizations trying different
- 2:58:01types of ways to develop players and bring in these people who
- 2:58:06think they're going to accelerate development and
- 2:58:11establishing culture and a way to go about it.
- 2:58:13At the same time, you say these owners, all of them are
- 2:58:17billionaires. They they can do whatever the
- 2:58:21heck they want. And it's do you want to put a
- 2:58:26product on the field that puts butts in seats or do we want to
- 2:58:33win? And they, I think they go hand
- 2:58:36in hand, right? Because if you, if you don't
- 2:58:39have those dudes that kids want to buy their jerseys and do all
- 2:58:44those things where we always, we always talk about certain things
- 2:58:49of like, oh, they don't want to spend like the end of the day.
- 2:58:53We call baseball in our in, in the club.
- 2:58:56It's a billionaire's board game. Do you want to get, do you want
- 2:58:59to get Atlantic? You want to buy a railroad?
- 2:59:03It's a club. It's, it's, it's their monopoly
- 2:59:07board like you're saying. So, and and we talked about this
- 2:59:11the last time I was on, which goes to what just happened
- 2:59:16yesterday. Did the Orioles just find a way
- 2:59:20to sell some tickets 1000% right by signing Pete Alonso for five
- 2:59:26years? Because now fans are going, OK,
- 2:59:29you sign Helsley if you know, you just signed Alonso.
- 2:59:35If we get another starting pitcher here and all those young
- 2:59:38players who didn't have great years rebound, the Orioles have
- 2:59:43a chance to contend for the division in the AL ES now.
- 2:59:46Right away, right away if if their pitching's better, they
- 2:59:51have a closer of Helsley. You know, it's true that he was
- 2:59:54tipping pitches and figured that out.
- 2:59:55That's why he was unsuccessful the Mets.
- 2:59:58And he he turns that around right away and he's the pitcher
- 3:00:01he was in Saint Louis. And maybe they add a starting
- 3:00:04pitcher to the mix. They're right there.
- 3:00:06They might be as good as better than the Yankees.
- 3:00:09And you know, depending what Toronto does that, you know,
- 3:00:12Toronto's probably still, you know, contends for the division.
- 3:00:16But the Orioles step, the Orioles step in a step up in a
- 3:00:20huge way. Alonso I don't.
- 3:00:22And that's what he that's what excites a fan base.
- 3:00:25I don't like I don't like the Orioles making that move for
- 3:00:28Pete Alonso for one reason. And if you look at Peter Pete
- 3:00:32Alonso's numbers in the American League East, it's not very good.
- 3:00:35And now you're coming, you're coming into a division where
- 3:00:38you're going to have to compete with the Yankees 15 games a
- 3:00:41year. You got to play the Red Sox, the
- 3:00:43the Rays and the Blue Jays. And you're an Oreos team that
- 3:00:47kind of underperformed last year.
- 3:00:50So there's a lot of pressure on the Orioles this year if if the
- 3:00:53the Orioles do not produce, are they going to be able to keep
- 3:00:56the younger players? You have all these great younger
- 3:00:58players and you have all these great draft classes that you've
- 3:01:01had over the years. You traded away your best
- 3:01:03pitching prospect for for what? I mean, a lot of things that the
- 3:01:08Orioles have done this offseason have you shaking your head and
- 3:01:11and and you're bringing Pete Alonzo because the Mets are just
- 3:01:14foolish organization that let their best power hitter go so.
- 3:01:19Now, you know, I Grayson Rodriguez A-Team always knows
- 3:01:24the medicals on their player better than anybody who's going
- 3:01:27to acquire them. So there's something they that
- 3:01:30they are afraid of if they traded him at this point when he
- 3:01:34was one of their top pitching prospects.
- 3:01:36And, and Charlie, what I, what I heard too in to piggyback kind
- 3:01:41of what you're saying is from the guys that I talked to, they
- 3:01:46based, you were like, we've seen all and they kind of just gave
- 3:01:50up on them because they're like, well, we couldn't figure it out.
- 3:01:53We couldn't do anything. And they just were like, well,
- 3:01:56if it works, it works, but obviously it didn't work there.
- 3:01:59So he literally is like just a fish out of water at that point.
- 3:02:05And they're like, well, what are we going to get for him?
- 3:02:08And did they get anything for him?
- 3:02:10Not really, but they just kind of gave up on him And, and I
- 3:02:15know that does happen. I I, I get that because of, you
- 3:02:18know, injuries and and stuff like that, but if he goes out
- 3:02:22and does anything, they didn't get anything back for him.
- 3:02:26He got, he got a left fielder, right-handed hitter who produces
- 3:02:29some power. So they needed it.
- 3:02:31They need and he's an everyday player right in in left field.
- 3:02:34So there's there's value in that.
- 3:02:37If they had another starting pitcher, Rogers, who was a
- 3:02:40disaster when they traded for him from Miami and gave up a
- 3:02:43couple of really good players. It's look what happened with
- 3:02:46Stowers in Miami. But then Rogers was great the
- 3:02:50second-half of last year when he came back from the injury.
- 3:02:53So again, those he wasn't pitching in the pressure of a
- 3:02:56Pennant race. So let's let's see what he is
- 3:02:59Trevor Rogers out of the gate this coming year.
- 3:03:04But but you know, when you talk about every owner is a
- 3:03:08billionaire in a billionaire's club, you know, it goes back to,
- 3:03:13you know, when I talked about San Diego, when they moved into
- 3:03:16that ballpark, they didn't sell out there a team that drew 1520
- 3:03:20thousand fans a game there. And now they're number 2IN
- 3:03:23attendance in the major leagues to the Dodgers ahead of the
- 3:03:26Yankees. Saint Louis used to be at the
- 3:03:28top, fell off in a big way, and that's because they have
- 3:03:31superstars in their lineup. That's what sells tickets.
- 3:03:34Whether you win a championship, when you get to the postseason
- 3:03:37or not, you've put yourself in that position to get there.
- 3:03:40But you're a team that's making money because you're drawing.
- 3:03:45And so it's hard for me to comprehend if you you own a
- 3:03:50team, if you take revenue sharing and that's enough for
- 3:03:54you to make a profit with TV money and everything else.
- 3:03:58But you're not putting people in the stands.
- 3:04:02If you try to win and you sign players, your value of your
- 3:04:07franchise only goes up if and when the time comes, you're
- 3:04:10ready to sell. That's what it's all about.
- 3:04:12So let me so let me ask you this from from your perspective, if,
- 3:04:15if you understand like what's in the clubhouse, like what what's
- 3:04:19going on, you see it from a different perspective for you to
- 3:04:22try to relay the game to people and, and make it relatable and
- 3:04:27make it fun and have listeners have viewership and all that.
- 3:04:32Is it hard? For you to.
- 3:04:34As someone in your position to like, if they're not doing that,
- 3:04:39like, yeah, but that's kind of it's, it's hard for me to like
- 3:04:43relate a great product when I know it's not the best product
- 3:04:46that we can put on the field. That's that's, you know, we're
- 3:04:50an extension of trying to sell this to fans.
- 3:04:54And so, you know, the bottom line when it comes, when it
- 3:04:58comes to the, you know, right down to it, and I'm there, I'm
- 3:05:02saying here's the two, one pitch.
- 3:05:05That's, that's, that's what it comes down to for me.
- 3:05:07And it's I can't dress it up any better than it is because fans
- 3:05:12are fans know what the numbers are.
- 3:05:14They know what the wins and losses are.
- 3:05:16They're watching the games of the team is successful or not
- 3:05:20successful. So, you know, I'm either the
- 3:05:23bearer of good news, I'm the bearer of bad news, you know,
- 3:05:27and from a broadcaster standpoint, you know, I've spent
- 3:05:30a lot of years calling teams that were not successful.
- 3:05:33I could have said bad teams, but I said teams that were not
- 3:05:36successful on the field. So then the goal for me and, and
- 3:05:41I said this to my in 2005, the Nationals could have won 1000
- 3:05:45games or lost 1000 games. People were so excited to have
- 3:05:48baseball, they didn't care. And then the team in June ran
- 3:05:52off 10 wins in a row. They went 20 and six.
- 3:05:55They were, they were 50 and 31 at the midway point.
- 3:06:00And it were a team that nobody expected to do anything.
- 3:06:03And they were getting huge crowds, averaged over 40 /
- 3:06:0640,000 a game first half of the year at RFK Stadium, which was
- 3:06:10pretty much a dump, you know, not a good place to watch a
- 3:06:14game. But for people who remembered
- 3:06:16baseball when they had it, they, they didn't care.
- 3:06:18They were excited to go there and, and see games.
- 3:06:21And so you had a honeymoon period.
- 3:06:23They went 31 and 50 the second-half of the season, fell
- 3:06:27out of the wild card race in September and finished 81 and
- 3:06:3081, fifth place, 500 people were still happy, you know, but
- 3:06:34that's, that's not going to, you know, that's not going to last.
- 3:06:37And it didn't. And, you know, the second or
- 3:06:40third year, I said to my partner, we're going to have to
- 3:06:42find a way to tell stories and make these broadcasts
- 3:06:45interesting because people are not going to tune in for for
- 3:06:49wins because this team's not going to be good enough while
- 3:06:51they're while they're building. So we have to, you know, get
- 3:06:56into, you know, where the players are from trying, you
- 3:07:01know, find out different things, stories to tell because it's got
- 3:07:04to be about more than just a game.
- 3:07:06But you know, now where the Nationals are, a team that won
- 3:07:10in 2019, they had great teams from 2012 all the way through
- 3:07:15winning the World Series 2021, expiring contracts.
- 3:07:20They fall off in July. They trade everybody away and
- 3:07:23have been in a rebuild since. So you have a new, entirely new
- 3:07:27front office now with the 35 year old president of baseball
- 3:07:30operations. You know, the first day of the
- 3:07:32winter meetings they put out a statement to fans talking about
- 3:07:36the kind of club he wants to build and wants young kids to
- 3:07:41fall in love with baseball the way he did growing up in San
- 3:07:45Francisco, which was a team he grew up watching.
- 3:07:47That one three World Series in what, 5 or 6 years with Bruce
- 3:07:52Boking and those teams in San Francisco from 2010 to 2014.
- 3:07:59OK, that you fall in love with the winner.
- 3:08:01That's how it happens. That's why there's that's why
- 3:08:03there's Yankees fans all over the country that go to games
- 3:08:06when the Yankees. Are on the road.
- 3:08:08Because they became such huge fans of an iconic franchise,
- 3:08:11especially after they won four World Series in, in a short span
- 3:08:15of, of time in, in the late 90s, early 2000s and so, and then
- 3:08:21another one in 2009. You know, so when it comes to
- 3:08:25it, you know, you have a new front office from top to bottom,
- 3:08:29a new manager and you've stated the type of chemistry you want
- 3:08:31to build and a team you want fans to fall in love with.
- 3:08:35But these fans are ready for someone to be signed and try
- 3:08:38and, and build a winner. You're trying basically, you're
- 3:08:41asking for a honeymoon period. That's a tough thing at this
- 3:08:44point. All right, Charlie, we're going
- 3:08:47to do. We have a game.
- 3:08:48You're you're a trivia guy. We're going to get you involved
- 3:08:53in. This is the first time you've
- 3:08:54ever done this before. We call this trivia game Tic
- 3:08:57Tac. No tick.
- 3:08:58Tick. Morris.
- 3:09:01Right in the butt. We get the prizes, cheat because
- 3:09:05they're stolen. No.
- 3:09:09No, no. No, no, no.
- 3:09:16All right, ladies, each. Other going wrong?
- 3:09:18We have a wonderful, wonderful game.
- 3:09:21And Charlie's never done Tic Tac.
- 3:09:22No, it's a trivia game and we call it Tic Tac.
- 3:09:24No, because somebody always says no and Speedy is going to be
- 3:09:30leading this trivia game. Are you ready, Speedy?
- 3:09:33I am. All right, let's go.
- 3:09:35All right, so we'll start. Good thing I had some extra
- 3:09:37baseball. Was prepared for this.
- 3:09:39We'll start with a baseball one I've had saved for since the MVP
- 3:09:41stuff came out. So Barry Bond and Showy Otani
- 3:09:45have won four or more MVPS. Bonds won seven.
- 3:09:48But there are three players that have won exactly 3 or 4 players
- 3:09:51have won exactly 3 MVPS that were National League players.
- 3:09:55Name two of those guys. 3 MVPS all National League MVPS you're
- 3:10:03saying? National League guys.
- 3:10:04And they won three of them. They won three exactly, yes.
- 3:10:09Bonds is one, right? No, no, Bonds won seven.
- 3:10:12These are the guys that have won exactly 3 MVP's.
- 3:10:15So not Bonds, not Shoei Otani, who won four.
- 3:10:19OK. Exactly 3.
- 3:10:20Yep. We go go really far back on
- 3:10:28this. Some of them, Some of them go
- 3:10:30back to the 50s. Yes, and 1 is.
- 3:10:33Stan Mutual. Yep.
- 3:10:35That's one. There's one and there's one kind
- 3:10:39of seventies, 80s, and there's one that's 2000s.
- 3:10:43All right, I got I my guess was right.
- 3:10:44So we just need to get one more and we get the point.
- 3:10:47Yep, and looks like Java disappeared.
- 3:10:51He said he's literally, yeah, he's his.
- 3:10:53Internet's acting up. Let's say you said a 70s.
- 3:11:00There's one like seventies 80s guy, one more 50s hour on.
- 3:11:04Hank Aaron. Nope, not Hank Aaron.
- 3:11:09I have no clue. You want me to guess for some
- 3:11:16for you, Tommy? Yeah, I'll give you my guess.
- 3:11:19All right, so 70s National League, they all the MVPS are in
- 3:11:23the National League. They didn't couldn't have gotten
- 3:11:25it one one of them in the AL or anything like that They're.
- 3:11:28All in the National League. OK, wow.
- 3:11:36Not Hank Aaron. That's tough.
- 3:11:42Oh, no, it would have been. I already got the old one.
- 3:11:46Johnny Bench. It's not Johnny Bench.
- 3:11:51Good guess though. Taking somebody off the Big Red.
- 3:11:56Machine. Right.
- 3:11:57Yeah. No, there's not anyone on that
- 3:12:01team. No, it's a good guess though.
- 3:12:05National League, Wow, I, I don't think I'm going to get that one,
- 3:12:11he said. There was a couple of more
- 3:12:12recent ones though. There was one.
- 3:12:14There was one 2000s era player. Oh.
- 3:12:19Jeez, pools anyone from the pirates?
- 3:12:23Nope. It.
- 3:12:26Pools, fish. Got it all right.
- 3:12:27Fish with both of them. Albert pools.
- 3:12:30Albert Pools, Yeah. You.
- 3:12:31Guys were able. To get all right, Cardinals.
- 3:12:35OK, so here we go. This is how we play the game.
- 3:12:38Everyone has an icon. Charlie.
- 3:12:40Here's your icon for tonight. Did we get the 70s Eighties one?
- 3:12:46Oh, Speedy, tell us the ones that we didn't get.
- 3:12:48So the the other 50s one was Roy Campanella and then the the 70s
- 3:12:55eighties one was Mike Schmidt. Oh wow, should have gotten that
- 3:12:59one. All right, so I got the center
- 3:13:02square. Next question, Speedy all.
- 3:13:04Right, we'll go to and Edwin Diaz theme question.
- 3:13:07So he had the he's tied for second in the American League
- 3:13:10all time with his 57 save season back in 2018, the year before
- 3:13:15the Mets traded for him. He is tied with what American
- 3:13:18really believer that did it in 1990. 57 saves, Yep.
- 3:13:25In 199057. Saves Bobby and Charlie gets.
- 3:13:30US. Very.
- 3:13:31Good. All right, that's awesome.
- 3:13:35I would have never gotten that one.
- 3:13:38Here it is, Charlie. Where do you want to put the
- 3:13:41piece? We got to make tic tac toe.
- 3:13:43So you tell us that bottom corner.
- 3:13:48Take a corner. Yep.
- 3:13:49All right here we go right here all right, Speedy, you got to
- 3:13:53get what you got to give us your hard one.
- 3:13:54Now you got to block us. We're.
- 3:13:55Going to shift a little basketball for this one.
- 3:13:57So LeBron James that just recently had his 1900 and 27297
- 3:14:03games streak broken where he scored double digit points in a
- 3:14:06game. So the last time he did not do
- 3:14:08that before just recently against the Raptors was on
- 3:14:11January 6th, 2007 when he did it against what East Coast team?
- 3:14:16Oh come on, that is literally we just have to randomly guess the
- 3:14:21right team that he played was his rookie.
- 3:14:24Was that that? I'm assuming that's his rookie
- 3:14:25year, no? 2007.
- 3:14:26No, 2007 you said so he had a single point game like 3 years
- 3:14:31into his career. So he had like a really bad
- 3:14:32game. I guess he'll start off, I don't
- 3:14:35know with. The Knicks.
- 3:14:37It's not the Knicks. No, he only he never scored less
- 3:14:40than 30 against the Knicks. It's never happened.
- 3:14:47I don't know. You said East Coast, so Boston.
- 3:14:54No, Charlie. Guess the East Coast.
- 3:15:01I'm going to guess Detroit. Nope.
- 3:15:05That's more Midwest. Still East Coast.
- 3:15:09It's not East Coast, it's in the middle of the country.
- 3:15:11It's East Coast. Michigan's not East Coast.
- 3:15:15Shut up, fish. It's literally an East Coast
- 3:15:20team. Yes, it's an East Coast team
- 3:15:23that held LeBron James the single digits.
- 3:15:31I know when this happened the other day I was trying to they
- 3:15:34mentioned it the last time he had a single digit game.
- 3:15:43Oh, I I think I might have figured it out, I think.
- 3:15:46I have a team 2 now but I don't I I already.
- 3:15:49Guessed Boston. Did we say Boston?
- 3:15:50I said Boston, Miami. It is not Miami Fish.
- 3:15:56What was your what was your hunch that you just got?
- 3:16:00I think it might be. I know it wasn't Washington.
- 3:16:03It was not Washington. That would have been a funny
- 3:16:04coincidence if it was. Though is that the Dwight Howard
- 3:16:08Orlando team? No, Goody would have had.
- 3:16:11Goody would have had too much fun with that.
- 3:16:12No, it was actually the at that time.
- 3:16:14New Jersey Next. I was going to say that I don't
- 3:16:16know. Oh my God.
- 3:16:19Well, Speedy, you earned that one that that sufficiently
- 3:16:22stumped all of us. I'm assuming we're going for the
- 3:16:25block here. Yes, we are.
- 3:16:28All right, Speedy, next question.
- 3:16:30Let's keep it moving. Some college football for this
- 3:16:32one. So the recently hired Matt
- 3:16:33Campbell got the Penn State job, turned down a director of player
- 3:16:38personnel job in 2003 for what NFL team that won a Super Bowl?
- 3:16:44Say that all over again. I'm sorry.
- 3:16:45So Matt Campbell in 2003, the new head coach for Penn State,
- 3:16:48previously Iowa State head coach, turned down a director of
- 3:16:51player personnel job in 2003 for what NFL team that won a Super
- 3:16:55Bowl in the 21st century, he. Turned down the job.
- 3:17:00Well, that rules out The Jets. I'm going to say during that
- 3:17:09time won a Super Bowl. The Eagles not.
- 3:17:17The Eagles. Damn.
- 3:17:21They won a Super Bowl after he turned them down.
- 3:17:25Yes. All right.
- 3:17:27I thought you were trying to pull a fast one on me here who's
- 3:17:39gone through a bunch of upheaval.
- 3:17:40That's what also won, and it wouldn't be like a great
- 3:17:46franchise if you turned it down, right, Raiders?
- 3:17:58They did not win in the 21st century.
- 3:18:00Oh that's I thought they won in. No, they didn't win.
- 3:18:04They lost that super. Bowl.
- 3:18:05That's as bad as me picking Detroit.
- 3:18:08That's why I asked in the 1st place.
- 3:18:09I don't even know why I said no. It is not as bad as you not
- 3:18:12knowing where in the country. Detroit is.
- 3:18:14You, you not knowing where Detroit is is.
- 3:18:18Significantly worse, I said right, No, it's not the fact
- 3:18:21that. You.
- 3:18:22You are out of your mind if you don't think that's.
- 3:18:24Worse in the 21st century. You not knowing no geography
- 3:18:27fact, the fact of our country. The fact that they have.
- 3:18:30Puzzles for like 6 year olds here.
- 3:18:32Here's the puzzle. I'm tired and I don't want to
- 3:18:34listen to your pig now. You're the one fighting.
- 3:18:37No, you're the one that actually said that the Raiders had won
- 3:18:41something in the 21st century when they have.
- 3:18:43It I was trying to think of a crap franchise that a guy like
- 3:18:47Campbell, who must have been in his 20s at the time, would turn
- 3:18:51down as opposed to not knowing where Detroit is.
- 3:18:57I think the 21st century, you picking the Oakland Raiders is
- 3:19:00absolutely pathetic. That's well, I disagree with
- 3:19:03you, I think yours. I disagree.
- 3:19:04The last time they. Were in, but we can agree to
- 3:19:06disagree with Rich. Canon 2025 gets the.
- 3:19:09Ball almost 2026. That was the last time they even
- 3:19:11got close so. That's the one I was thinking of
- 3:19:14and for some reason I I don't know why they.
- 3:19:16Didn't win I. Remember the Barrett Robbins
- 3:19:18disappearance? That Super Bowl?
- 3:19:20The stairs like All Pro Center that never played again after
- 3:19:23that I'm. Speedy.
- 3:19:25I'm going to say the Broncos. It's not the Broncos, so.
- 3:19:28Who is it? It's Charlie has a guest left.
- 3:19:34Wild guest Charlie, I have. A team now that.
- 3:19:38I'm thinking of, I will say Carolina.
- 3:19:44And it's not Carolina. Carolina.
- 3:19:46Fish. Kind of.
- 3:19:47Yeah, Fish kind of redirected. It actually was a great
- 3:19:50franchise. It was.
- 3:19:52The really what it? Was the Patriots.
- 3:19:55So wait, the Patriots, they offered a 20 year old.
- 3:19:59They offered because he in 2003? Like isn't he only in his early
- 3:20:0540s? Matt can't this guy like he
- 3:20:07would have been like 21. Yeah, something like that.
- 3:20:10He's definitely young still. He is 46, so I guess he would
- 3:20:15have. Yeah, he would have been. 20 it
- 3:20:17would have been like 2 years out of college time.
- 3:20:19Yeah, and he turned it. Down what?
- 3:20:21Who's impressive enough two years out of college to be
- 3:20:24named? You know what?
- 3:20:26Who knows with the way that they did stuff.
- 3:20:28It's the Patriot way, I guess. Speedy.
- 3:20:30Speedy. Where do you want to go all?
- 3:20:33Right, let's go. Oh, whoops, that's not the right
- 3:20:37one. That's the one with you dancing.
- 3:20:40That one over like a fart in church.
- 3:20:46Breaking. News I.
- 3:20:47Need Brittany also let. Me, just get rid of that.
- 3:20:51Breaking news, they call me the ladies man and Mr. Still your
- 3:20:54girl. All right, Speedy, where?
- 3:20:56All right, we will go. Let's go top right.
- 3:21:03Why is that there, Speedy? Here we go.
- 3:21:08All right, starting to get a little hairy.
- 3:21:10All right, let's go Speedy. We'll.
- 3:21:12See if you guys can get the base the last baseball 1 I have.
- 3:21:15So obviously Pete Alonso getting the biggest contract in Orioles
- 3:21:19history. We know all about the Chris
- 3:21:20Davis debacle too as the other bad contract in Orioles history.
- 3:21:24Besides those two players, who got the next highest?
- 3:21:30The next? Biggest contract for the
- 3:21:32Orioles? Yep, besides Chris Davis and
- 3:21:35obviously Pete Alonso just signed.
- 3:21:40How far back are we going? Not as far, not that far.
- 3:21:47Miguel Tata. Nope.
- 3:21:50That's a good guess. That's a good guess.
- 3:21:55Brady. Anderson.
- 3:21:57Nope. Steroid.
- 3:22:01Cash in on that steroid. I mean, Luke, 50 home run
- 3:22:06season. All right, Maybe it's more
- 3:22:11recent. Maybe it's like I'm going to say
- 3:22:13Adam Jones. That's correct, yeah.
- 3:22:17All. Right.
- 3:22:20All right, Speedy, we're going to block you.
- 3:22:21All right. Next question all.
- 3:22:28Right. So you guys brought it up in
- 3:22:29Deuce of the Day, Phillip Rivers.
- 3:22:32They call Cam Newton debacle. So Cam Newton's MVP season,
- 3:22:35Phillip Rivers leading receiver that year was not a running, was
- 3:22:40not a receiver, was either a running back or a tight end.
- 3:22:43Name this player. I'll name the first one, Antonio
- 3:22:46Gates. It's.
- 3:22:47Not Antonio. Gates So then it's the running,
- 3:22:49the Hall of Fame running back. It's the Hall of Fame running
- 3:22:53back. 2015 Oh no 2015. Oh, you said you said old 2015.
- 3:22:58Yeah, I don't know. I don't.
- 3:22:59Yeah, 2015. So then I didn't run.
- 3:23:02It back. Was Eckler on the team then?
- 3:23:05No. No, no, no.
- 3:23:07Titan running. Back.
- 3:23:10Well, it wasn't. Gates.
- 3:23:12No, it's it's only 2015. Tomlinson was already done by
- 3:23:15then. Who?
- 3:23:16The hell did they have at the running backroom then?
- 3:23:21Is that like? I don't know.
- 3:23:27Yeah, I have no clue. Give me give me your guess then,
- 3:23:30Tommy. Yeah, I'll get fish.
- 3:23:32My guess? So you're saying that it wasn't
- 3:23:35Gates? So the leading receiver as far
- 3:23:37as yards or receptions or both yards yards.
- 3:23:43Wow. Keenan Allen was second with
- 3:23:46755. And that's obviously not great,
- 3:23:51but it was a running back that would have gotten that many
- 3:23:53yards. That's really fascinating.
- 3:23:57Who did they have? It's like on the tip of my
- 3:24:03tongue. No one will get.
- 3:24:05This. I mean, after Tomlinson, who was
- 3:24:12their running back? So like Michael Turner or
- 3:24:14something like that, Didn't we have him on the show?
- 3:24:16I don't think he was a receiving threat, though.
- 3:24:18No, he was. He was.
- 3:24:22He was in Atlanta. Then that's right, Atlanta.
- 3:24:26No. Who's the Chargers backup that
- 3:24:30took over? Andy Woodhead.
- 3:24:32Charlie gets it. Very good.
- 3:24:33Oh, Woodhead, and I was not. Going to get that well.
- 3:24:36Charlie already guessed, though. Oh, that was it.
- 3:24:39Charlie got it. I'll get him that.
- 3:24:42All right. Well then is game over, Charlie.
- 3:24:45We have done it. All right.
- 3:24:49You can check the news there. You go.
- 3:24:53All right, There we go. Tic Tac.
- 3:24:55No. Charlie's first Tic Tac No game.
- 3:24:59All right, so we got one more segment, and since Jabba's no
- 3:25:03longer with us because his computer went down, we will have
- 3:25:07Charlie join us. I'm sure he has his own take on
- 3:25:10this, as we call this. What's that smell?
- 3:25:13Hold up, what is that smell? What's that?
- 3:25:19Smell. Wow, you don't see that every
- 3:25:23day. I am absolutely pissed off by
- 3:25:25the Buccaneers. They have not used Bucky Irving
- 3:25:27at all. Godwin has a touchdown and I'm
- 3:25:29playing Godwin in my fantasy league.
- 3:25:32It's just absolutely pathetic. And still no Bucky Irving.
- 3:25:36Enough of Bucky Irving. It.
- 3:25:38Doesn't answer me this, Errol, the Atlanta scores, it's 2820,
- 3:25:43Yeah, with over 9 minutes to go. And they went for two and they
- 3:25:47didn't get it. I don't understand that, but
- 3:25:50also if if the Buccaneers are smart, they run the ball so they
- 3:25:54run the clock out. But.
- 3:25:57The analytics, the analytics say that you do do that Charlie
- 3:26:01though, because like the idea is if you get it.
- 3:26:04Sparked in their favor because Mayfield on the next possession
- 3:26:07just got intercepted. Well, I mean.
- 3:26:11Atlanta has the ball near midfield.
- 3:26:16That's really interesting. Maybe this game's going up in
- 3:26:18overtime or come down to that two point conversion.
- 3:26:20But the idea is if they make the two point conversion, then they
- 3:26:23get a touchdown and they win with the extra point.
- 3:26:25If they don't make it, they still have a chance to tie with
- 3:26:28getting a 2 point conversion. So technically that's a better
- 3:26:31set of outcomes than just kicking the extra point, they
- 3:26:35say. I wouldn't be surprised if
- 3:26:37Atlanta wins this game. It's very typical.
- 3:26:40Anyways, ladies and gentlemen, so it's pretty simple how you
- 3:26:44play this game. We're going to go around in a
- 3:26:46circle and we're going to tell you something that is happening
- 3:26:51in football, baseball, hockey, basketball, and we're going to
- 3:26:55tell you what it smells like. It could be anything.
- 3:26:57It could be something bad, something good, whatever.
- 3:27:00And we're going to tell you what it smells like after we give you
- 3:27:04the take. So First things first.
- 3:27:06We're going to go Speedy. We're going to go fish, we're
- 3:27:08going to go poops, We're going to go Charlie going to go on me.
- 3:27:10Here we go, all. Right, so I'm going to start it
- 3:27:12off with CBS Sports and a 24/7 Sports College football radio
- 3:27:17host and personality. Bud Elliot literally decided to
- 3:27:21say it is a safety issue, putting James Madison the number
- 3:27:2612 seed and Tulane the number 11 seed in the College Football
- 3:27:29Playoff field. He said football is not like any
- 3:27:31other sport, it is a safety issue.
- 3:27:33He said that eight and five Duke deserved a spot and also Notre
- 3:27:37Dame, Texas and Vanderbilt deserving spots over those two
- 3:27:41group of five teams because it is a safety issue.
- 3:27:43Tulane and JMU being in are avoid our charity to avoid
- 3:27:47getting sued and then literally responded to some fans that took
- 3:27:51shots at the SEC for scheduling schools like The Citadel and
- 3:27:55stuff like that try to defend this issue when literally
- 3:27:58football is the same game. If anything, it's just as
- 3:28:00physical just because those teams have to play more
- 3:28:02physical, including somebody like Tulane that's had some good
- 3:28:04defensive lineman and linebackers drafted in the NFL
- 3:28:06recently, and Jamie JMU, which has been AFCS powerhouse for a
- 3:28:10while. So I don't know what you're
- 3:28:12thinking. Safety issue.
- 3:28:13Football is the same game. Yikes.
- 3:28:15Why do you work there? You're going to make takes like
- 3:28:16that. So what does that smell like?
- 3:28:18It smells like a Green Wave that Tulane likes to bring, but
- 3:28:21instead of a green color, it's green, filled with mold and
- 3:28:24algae going all on to Bud's head.
- 3:28:31So the giants I got, I actually have two giants.
- 3:28:35What's that smells? We're going to combine them.
- 3:28:38The first one is did you know on that wonderful missed field goal
- 3:28:44by young Waku where he got his foot stuck in the ground and and
- 3:28:50couldn't actually kick the ball and it looked like he got frozen
- 3:28:54by a magical spell in a video game.
- 3:28:57The punter, Jamie Gillen, who is the holder for the kicks, ended
- 3:29:01up injuring his knee on that play and will likely miss the
- 3:29:05game this week. So that play not only was one of
- 3:29:09the worst plays I saw in real time, also got our punter
- 3:29:13probably injured possibly for the rest of the season.
- 3:29:15That is so terrible. And on top of that, listen to
- 3:29:20this, this one, you know, the Giants used to have employ Brian
- 3:29:24Cox, guess the same Brian Cox that made Tom Brady's career
- 3:29:26possible. Brian Cox as assistant defensive
- 3:29:29line coach. And he was fired by Mike Kafka
- 3:29:34over a large disagreement last week over apparently Kafka
- 3:29:40telling him and his assistant group that they are now sitting
- 3:29:44in the back of the plane. That is some horrible optics
- 3:29:48that I don't understand why the story is not being talked about
- 3:29:52a little bit more. It smells like that everything
- 3:29:55is wrong in the Kingdom of Mike Krapka.
- 3:29:59Yes, I'm going to be calling him Mike Krapka from now on.
- 3:30:02He is just as bad as the rest of them.
- 3:30:05Obviously, Cox was a day ball guy, apparently.
- 3:30:08And the day ball Kafka, I mean, day ball did like bully him for
- 3:30:12Four Seasons straight. So I guess that that there's
- 3:30:15some some retribution, but man, what an absolute stink bomb of a
- 3:30:21crap show in crap town. That's what it smells like.
- 3:30:25Just the most crap. You brought up Brian Cox
- 3:30:29accelerating Tom Brady's career. It was funny.
- 3:30:32The one Jets game I ever went to back in 2015, they were playing
- 3:30:35the Patriots and they were. They were honoring MO Lewis
- 3:30:37before the game. Oh my God.
- 3:30:41All right, Tommy, All right. Right, so I'm going to be
- 3:30:43keeping it with some wrestling. I know I did wrestling last
- 3:30:46week, but this Saturday, Alex is going to be this Saturday, the
- 3:30:50conclusion will be coming to an end for a specific man.
- 3:30:54The last time is now, and I'm talking about the 17 time. 1 of
- 3:30:58the greatest champions with the greatest wrestlings of wrestlers
- 3:31:02of all time, Mr. John Cena himself.
- 3:31:04You wanted to jerk me off now. This retirement tour is going to
- 3:31:07be concluding on Saturday. Like I said, shout out to my
- 3:31:09father's birthday on that day as well.
- 3:31:12Crazy all day today going. To be concluding on Saturday.
- 3:31:14Now The thing is, is that I just have to point out how somewhat
- 3:31:19piss poor this retirement tour has been now ever since the last
- 3:31:22year when he announced that he had 17 dates. 17 dates to go and
- 3:31:26wrestle for the last time. Last time he was going to be in
- 3:31:29certain countries, last time he was going to be in certain
- 3:31:30cities, areas, arenas, whatnot for the last time on certain
- 3:31:34paper views. Now I will say I'm not dissing
- 3:31:37the retirement tour itself. I think that like I said, John
- 3:31:40Cena, one of the best of all time, definitely deserves a
- 3:31:42retirement tour. However, I feel as if the 17
- 3:31:46dates were a lot wasted. For instance, he's fighting Goon
- 3:31:48in his last match that should have been wasted instead of
- 3:31:50having, I don't know, they had like tag matches with Logan Paul
- 3:31:54and it was very random. So my thing is, is that I feel.
- 3:31:59I get more girls than. Scoops The heel run wasn't
- 3:32:01entirely all there. I feel like the the creative
- 3:32:04decision actually decided to pull some of it back.
- 3:32:06So my thing is, is creative. You need to Start learning how
- 3:32:10to book your retirement tours a little bit better.
- 3:32:12Because for the man, like I said for the last 20 years, who has
- 3:32:15been one of the guys who have put WWE on blast in PG era in
- 3:32:20the last 20 years or so, John Cena definitely deserved a
- 3:32:23better retirement tour. But like I said, I'm not going
- 3:32:25to be trash talking a retirement tour because the retirement of
- 3:32:28one of the best of all time and with their a career of one of
- 3:32:30the best of all time smells like roses.
- 3:32:32However, this retirement tour. You're so cute.
- 3:32:35Well, this retirement tour, actually, Speaking of Nathan,
- 3:32:37that's just on this suck. My Indo.
- 3:32:40Errol obviously loves so much. The smell of his retirement tour
- 3:32:44smells like Lisa Ann's Grobar trusty aunties.
- 3:32:47Grobar I love Lisa Ann so. There we.
- 3:32:52Go. All right, Charlie, what do you
- 3:32:54got for us? Well, I was.
- 3:32:56I wasn't prepared for this. So you you need something that
- 3:32:59stinks, right? Something that stinks.
- 3:33:01Give us something that. Stinks.
- 3:33:02It could stink nicely sometimes. You could do a nice one.
- 3:33:06You smell like roses. The Mets over the last few days,
- 3:33:10I mean, what's things what? Does it smell like?
- 3:33:14I mean, nothing tops. Nothing tops losing Edwin Diaz
- 3:33:19and Pete Alonso in consecutive days.
- 3:33:21That's not beatable. You want my cream pie?
- 3:33:26That's a show end there, really. My rear end is burning.
- 3:33:32There you go, that's what it smells like if.
- 3:33:39It's for N Burning after he tries to put on Lisa Ann's
- 3:33:41panties. That's true all.
- 3:33:42Right. My God the.
- 3:33:44Final. Mine was short.
- 3:33:45Mine was. Short and sweet, that.
- 3:33:47I can't come up with anything that stinks.
- 3:33:50More. I've got a good one.
- 3:33:51I got a good one. My final What's that smell goes
- 3:33:54to? Finally, Jeff Kent getting into
- 3:33:57the Hall of Fame. But now Donnie Baseball's got to
- 3:34:01wait until 2028 for the committee to actually look at
- 3:34:06him again and vote him into the Hall of Fame.
- 3:34:09This guy in a 5 to 6 year span has some of the best numbers
- 3:34:12we've ever seen an infielder have.
- 3:34:15How many Gold Gloves does this guy have to win?
- 3:34:17How many hitting, batting titles did he, this guy had to win in
- 3:34:21the time that he did it And, and really with a Yankee team that
- 3:34:25was really that bad. And this guy did everything.
- 3:34:29He was the Yankee, he was the captain, he was everything.
- 3:34:32Donnie Baseball should be in the Hall of Fame and should be
- 3:34:36inducted in Hall of Fame, including the one and only the
- 3:34:39chief himself, the general. Yes, you know, I'm talking about
- 3:34:44the one, the only Mr. Steinbrenner who's still not in
- 3:34:48the Hall of Fame. 2 guys that should be inducted into Hall of
- 3:34:51Fame. It's not there.
- 3:34:52You know what it smells like? It smells like Bud Selig's ass
- 3:34:56when he takes a dump. OK, how is Bud Selig in the Hall
- 3:35:00of Fame and George Steinbrenner isn't this guy allowed steroids,
- 3:35:06allowed everything to go on and he gets away with it because
- 3:35:08Robbie Manford was allowing this guy.
- 3:35:13And actually, as soon as Rob Manfred gets into position to
- 3:35:16get his his protege, Well, whatever Bud Sealick was his,
- 3:35:20you know, Rob Manfred was his protege.
- 3:35:22The the fact is, is that this guy's in the Hall of Fame.
- 3:35:25George Stampert is not in the Hall of Fame.
- 3:35:27Don Man, at least not in the Hall of Fame.
- 3:35:28Makes no sense. Albert Bell should be in the
- 3:35:31Hall of Fame. Just absolutely.
- 3:35:33Potential. I just want to say Errol, I, I
- 3:35:35agree with you, the writers missed on Jeff Kent.
- 3:35:39He should have been voted in 100% when they had the chance in
- 3:35:42the 1st 10 years, right? But Mattingly should be in,
- 3:35:47Keith Hernandez should be in. You know, they don't, they don't
- 3:35:51get them all right. And and they don't the boss,
- 3:35:54they don't get them within that that 10 year period, you know.
- 3:35:57George Steinbrenner saved baseball.
- 3:35:59He saved baseball and then this guy's not in the Hall of Fame.
- 3:36:02But Bud ceiling is as the steroid error just magically
- 3:36:06happened. So it's just unbelievable.
- 3:36:09It's absolutely I agree with you, Charlie.
- 3:36:11There's a lot of these guys in and what I don't understand and
- 3:36:14what you know, what you're trying to come.
- 3:36:16By the way, Kyle Pitts had another touchdown.
- 3:36:18That's three touchdowns in a game.
- 3:36:20So now they need now, Now they need that.
- 3:36:22Here comes the two point conversion try you were talking
- 3:36:25about. Yeah, well, and that's and now
- 3:36:27here's the the, you know, that's the gamble you take.
- 3:36:31But now it's to tie the game. Now it's Yeah.
- 3:36:33Well I'm hoping they make it because I've got the Bucs kicker
- 3:36:36in my fantasy and this is just prime time for kicker points if
- 3:36:40they tie it. Well, let's.
- 3:36:42Let's see, this is 3 1/2 minutes left.
- 3:36:44I. Want to see Bucky Irving time
- 3:36:46and that's what I want to see. They're giving it to that
- 3:36:48Syracuse kid at the goal line. It's not.
- 3:36:50They're not giving it to Bucky at the goal line.
- 3:36:52They didn't get it. They didn't get the 2.
- 3:36:56Oh well, I guess I'm not getting any more kicker points.
- 3:36:58Well, that means Bucky, Bucky, Bucky.
- 3:37:00Give it to buck, Give it to the buck, don't you?
- 3:37:03Should be, should be giving it to him right now.
- 3:37:05They should be, but I don't know if that's going to happen.
- 3:37:08Anyways, that's it for a show. Thank you, Charlie, for joining
- 3:37:11us. You're sensational as always.
- 3:37:13I want you to start coming on more, more often.
