Two activists scaled the Empire State Building midday, unfurled a banner declaring “When the power of love beats the love of power, the world knows peace,” and one proposed to the other as they descended—helicopters circling, hearts racing. Known as “rooftoppers” and possibly linked to the Netflix doc “Skywalkers: A Love Story,” Angela Nikolau and Ivan Beerkus are now in NYPD custody as authorities investigate how they climbed and what charges may follow.
