- Brothers in the Box: What's up everybody, welcome back to a new Brothers in the Box episode. I'm Ilias here with Eshan and wow, what a packed episode we have today. We first and foremost want to apologize for the delay. Eshan's been struggling through the start of exams. Okay. And it's a busy time for him at the moment. unfortunately was unable to the recording this weekend. So let's just go over the facts, you know, do not, hide any secrets from our viewers. I was free on Saturday and Sunday, the usual times that we do record. Sometimes it doesn't happen on Saturday, we record on Sunday. I have exams, and I two subjects this week and then a bunch of subjects next week. And I was still ready to record, but someone wasn't here. So, I don't think this is on me. I think you have to make your own apology to the viewers, because I was ready. No, no, I don't apologize. I was ready to record on Sunday night. on sunday and you're sleeping itself and i'm not sure what time you get home i got home at ⁓ all might have exam eleven ⁓ five eleven ⁓ five well said work at five in the morning but i was i wanted to i wanted to give the viewers what they need and what they crave ⁓ which is ⁓ in the box content anyways so many series finished week and all of them Yeah, all of round one was done after Sunday. It took me a little bit to get over Thursday. I got over it pretty fast actually. But I'm glad it happened. I mean, we said by the time of this recording, in episode, I said that the oilers would be out. Yeah, honestly, ⁓ in ⁓ heart hearts, in my very personal opinion, if the others won game six i think that a shot of winning game seven know didn't happen here we are in one game sex just huge breakdown from the guys but we will discuss that a little in the episode first each other let's get into vegas utah yeah ⁓ fun to use to watch very very fun to hear stuff playoff win for you to i really thought they were gonna win efforts last week are ⁓ I mean, did call it in 6. ⁓ gave them a good shout though. was a good hard fought series. Vegemalka played pretty well. I thought Carter Hart was less than desirable. I think Vegemalka was also less than desirable. Both goalies, ⁓ obviously they played hearts out and both sides are very, very lethal shooters. But yeah, very fun series to watch all in all. At hit us with the most impactful player. so our MVP was Brett Howden. Four goals. W-depth. Yeah, he was very hot in the series, continued to stay hot last night with a beautiful assist by Mitch Marner. I honestly could have given this award to Mitch Marner. For most impactful of the Utah series as well? because holy moly, what a difference. changing teams makes for a man like mitch marner and being out of the spotlight because he has played absolutely incredible yeah i feel like no expectations mean no no spotlight the spotlight is on jack eichel it is the current ⁓ top two pick of the 2015 draft that is still in the ⁓ not for much longer i ⁓ know i'm writing the ducks you think coming out your rooms early? No, this was that was a good game for the ducks. Really? yes, they But one, their young team, they bounced back quickly. We saw that in Oilers game. Yeah, that's true. I wasn't expecting them to win the game yesterday. That's number two. ⁓ Number three, the comb was the only reason they didn't tie it up. And I and I in my full heart of hearts believe that they peppered them. The style played pretty good. Carter Hart had a better game than he did all of the Utah series. their play wasn't as efficient as it was playing Edmonton. But I'm sure that will change with a coach like Quenville. for a least impactful player, Yishan, of that Utah Vegas series. And when we talked about how lackluster he was, Carter Hart, A little bit of an important role, Aiden Hill was lackluster during the regular season. He was dealing with injuries. So was Carter Hart. But I feel like he- There were some shaky goals he let in. Yeah. But he ultimately, although he was the least impactful player, I think he did his job. I think he could have it better. But, but- I don't know, I think- He won four games for them. Yeah, not because of him though. Maybe one of them. No. No, because there was some- When watching the series, I can honestly say that there was some saves that he made that I thought were gonna I can honestly say you're That's just not true. He shot down a lot of Utah's top scorers. Like who? Dylan Gunther only had 4 goals. Yeah, in 4 games he only had... How many goals would you score? He only had 4 goals in 6 games. Yeah, I'm so sorry, Ishan. Okay, no, no. Let's just... Before you go on your high horse, the top player... With the most points in Utah series only had five. Vesely Pardkozhin had more. Yeshine. in his him though you're forgetting that fact so is gay bland that's called also him yes no actually no these stats might be skewed because of a last game but yeah no no i think yeah obviously definitely could have done a better job but he won he they won the series they did for a least impactful player on the losing team or sorry most impactful player on the losing team We're gonna give this one to Uyghur, great deadline acquisition from Utah. He's there for a little while. I think he has two or three years left on his contract at least. great pickup from him, really solid with blocks and got a couple goals, a few throughout the series. Just really held the defensive end and helped with Vegemalka and making sure that there wasn't clear lanes to the net and just tying up Vegas' top guys. Yeah, great, great deadline execution. mean, you know how good of a defenseman he was in Calgary. Obviously, he wasn't getting his full potential there. And it's good that Calgary did their thing and brought them out to ⁓ Anderson, Nazem Kadri, all those players out to where they want to go. But no, definitely gave them a chance at winning. It didn't happen, but... ⁓ least impactful player, JJ Paturka hands down. he didn't have the most amazing regular season either, but ⁓ and he did, he did play in Olympics. did expect more from him. Yeah. With no, no points in the series. was a minus two throughout the series. So it's just like for a player that has been like, I believe he was on Buffalo before. And then like he, his time was ⁓ like, His time is like elevating his game up and up and up until like, and Utah provided him with that opportunity. Like he was playing at believe second line minutes. Yeah. which is more than, ⁓ with good guys to try and, fit whatever role you want a team playmaker goal score or whatever you want. but he just hasn't elevated it yet. No, he hasn't. ⁓ and that's why he was our least impactful player. Let's move on to, ⁓ Dallas, Minnesota. Yeah. Another really fun series. This could have been a Western Conference final matchup. Yeah. We talked about this in our season end, interseason ending episode, but the central just gets cooked. It If you're two and three, especially right now with Colorado, Minnesota, Dallas, how good all three of those teams are and how much depth each of those teams has, there's bound to be a cup favorite getting lost. Yeah. No, but like, I, both said like this, series between Dallas and Minnesota deserved to go to seven, but there was, there was one re there's one man that made it, made sure that it didn't go to seven and that was Quinn Hughes. he is our series MVP. Yeah. I mean, amazing, amazing performance in that last game. Two goals, two nasty snipes. Yes. And, one, one nice assist. but yeah, he's leading the ⁓ right now in the playoffs, ⁓ for points with 11 obviously a little bit three more points of that is coming from last game between Avalanche and Colorado but still eight points is a very good in a series least impactful player on the winning team goes to Nick Foligno I didn't okay I'm gonna call you out here a little bit I didn't want this to be the our least impact okay give me a give me a alternative Let me check the player list. ⁓ reason I'm saying Fulino is, yes he was brought in as our leadership piece, but I just, I don't know, I feel like we didn't get enough from him. just yeah that's that's honestly that's it give me give me Jacob Middleton no ⁓ had okay he had one good game I think if you're gonna give it to another player you could say Zach Bogosian Yeah, where is he? How many points did have? Yeah, he had zero points. I think he was a minus as well. was a third line defenseman. Third line defenseman, yeah. Yeah, feel like, know, he's a little bit good guy. And played poorly, I'm just saying he's the least impactful. Yeah, I understand where it's coming from. For our most impactful player on the losing team... Oh, sorry. Yes, on the losing team. Jason Robertson. Absolutely sensational. I'm sure he'll stay in Dallas now. I don't think there's any ⁓ that he'll He's an RFA, right? This year? Either or yeah, I think he's an RFA. I think so. But yeah, I think he'll also stay in Dallas. I've heard rumors that Pittsburgh might try and offer sheet him. Really? If they get a chance, know that they're very, I know Dubis is very interested in- Start rebuilding. Trade Crosby to the Oilers. Dubis is very interested in Robertson. Yeah. No, I'm He had one Robertson brother in Toronto and so now he wants the other Robertson brother. The better one. Yeah, literally. But yeah, our least impactful player ⁓ on was Thomas Harley. No points. ⁓ Obviously, had like a, everything else was like not bad. Like he had six shots in one game. He had blocks here and there. He had hits. But for a guy that, was on Team Canada. part of the best part of his game is his offensive ability. Yeah. Usually he's a great playmaker, has the occasional goal, and has the ability to make plays. He didn't really, you didn't really do that. And yes. Miro was on the power play, but still I would have liked to see more from Harley. Anything else for the series? ⁓ Okay, let's move on to Flyers Penguins. Probably my most shocking series. Yeah, why would you say that? Just because I thought the penguins with the plethora of experience that they have are gonna pull it out in seven. Yeah, no, that's fair. But to be honest, our MVP absolutely carried the Flyers. Who would have thunk going from playing in Calgary and Battle of Alberta's to getting two shoutouts in round one of the Stanley Cup Playoffs? Yeah, I don't know what they were putting in Dan Voladar's food, but they were putting the right things in there. That's sure. You know, he had 40 something saves in the end game six. Yeah. Just shout out the Pittsburgh team that's very, very well rounded. A lot of depth. And were coming and came together throughout the season. Yeah. honestly, putting 40 shots on Ned and not having one at least go in is insane. It is. But that's what a good goaltender does. ⁓ but yeah, least impactful player. I feel like this is pretty self-explanatory. had a horrible regular season. carried that over into the playoffs. Madfaye Michkov, young guy that still is waiting for his, ⁓ waiting for his development to start really. Like he, he has like the ability, but I just know. I don't know what it is that he can't elevate his game. Like. Celebrini's done or Bredard did this year. I mean, maybe it's maybe it's one more year in the regular season then he starts elevating Yeah, but I don't think he's at the same level as guys like oh, when when he came into the league He was getting compared to those guys because I think that's passing him. Yeah, but I think that now and I've seen him in the league I don't think that there's gonna be busts here and there but I don't know bust I just don't think I think he can elevate his game, but I just think he hasn't done it yet. Sure sure I think. The scratch in game five tells you what you need to know. Yeah. The healthy scratch. Yeah, definitely least impactful. Our most impactful player on the losing team was Sid the middle-aged man, Krosby. He played a great series. really tried find their footing and ⁓ some life back into the team. Yeah, I know in... It's hard though to watch him play so and then still because of other factors not ⁓ be to win. Yeah, like game five in the end, he had... It was like three icings or something and he had to win every single faceoff. did. ⁓ That's what a good leader does, you Like that you step up in the big moments and also at the end of the game, you give every single one of your boys a high five and send them into the locker room. Like that's what a good captain does and it's exactly what he did. proved why he's the of the league and just like who guys look up to. And then our impactful player on the losing team was Igor Chinikov. Really great regular season. Yeah, he definitely he got traded to Pittsburgh. What was that last year? Traded or signed? No, it was at the beginning because I remember episode one we talked about him. He was on Columbus, right? Yeah. And then I thought we talked about him possibly coming to the Oilers. We did. We did. It didn't happen. I think, yes, he did get traded to Pittsburgh. Yeah. He played really well throughout the regular season and then just absolutely disappeared in the playoffs. they're really really missing. They're really missing their depth. Yeah in game one and two a lot of nerves going into the playoffs But you got to step up when it matters. It's it's as simple as that 100 % Next up the most exciting in my opinion. No, and yeah, definitely going to seven games is always huge Yeah, Tampa Bay versus the Montreal Canadians Yeah, and at took it home yeah and yes i said that in the third person because i called it and i laughed in your face when alex new hook banked it off vasilevsky's back was okay ⁓ ⁓ of the luckiest game winning goals i've seen in so long like it doesn't matter ⁓ yeah went in and went in like bro like it's like saying ⁓ same thing with vaskelevsky was seven for nine Yeah. I don't understand. You put nine shots on net and what? Tampa had like 20, maybe 30 something? Oh, sorry. 29. 29 shots. 28 saves for Dobesh. Who was our most impactful player and VP. Jakub Dobesh. Yeah. Really, really good play from him. I think he averaged a 9-2-3, was it? Yes. Yeah. Just off the top of my head. But he's acting like he's not reading the notes. No, he was incredible. A really pillar piece for the Canadians, especially on making sure that Tampa, whose power play was really, really hot, was kept to a minimum throughout the series. Yeah, I was surprised that like a lot of the games were low scoring. Yeah, I was very surprised went toe-to-toe with vessel like a guy like that's a lefty. which is very difficult. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, least impactful player that we had ⁓ Montreal was Demidoff. Only one assist, I believe one assist. He was playing power play the whole series. Yeah, for like obviously, he's a young guy, he's a rookie this technically a rookie this year. He did play playoffs last year. Um, but I kind of just wanted to see a little bit more from him, uh, just stepping up and playing a little bit more physically and trying to get into a little bit better for checking position and, and just making a little bit more, uh, a couple more plays that are more impactful. he has a chance to step up in this, in this Buffalo series. He does. most impactful player. on the losing team definitely carried the team for Tampa and that was Brandon Hagel. He had multiple goals. having like someone like Kuturov on your line is always good, but he definitely put him like everything that He elevated to a different level. Yeah, he had everything that he had out there. he was ready to sacrifice anything to try and get them to play Buffalo. it's funny, but. He was almost a Montreal Canadian before he became a Tampa Bay Lightning. ⁓ really? Yeah. Fun fact for Why? Just because of that? When he was drafted? No he wasn't actually. He's an undrafted player. ⁓ wow. Yeah. Great undrafted player. Yeah. Really good undrafted player. Our ghost award for this series? Braden Point. Yeah he one goal I believe. Maybe He was just atrocious. ⁓ Yeah, and maybe it's just lingering effects of that injury that he had right before Olympics because he hasn't looked the same Actually, he like he was slow to start the year and then he kind of was heating up and then he got injured Yeah, and then I think he never really came back. Yeah, so maybe it's something that they deal with on the offseason He's able to fully recover and we I mean, I'm sure Having that, know Canada loss, not being able to go play for them. Definitely hanging over him. But sure he's also dealing with an injury. He'll come out eventually. Yeah. But Tampa was never going to win the cup because they have Corey Perry. So yeah. So technically it's his fault. No, but it's not his fault they lost round one. It the most disappointing player. Well, I mean, they've been known to impactful player. They've been known to losing round one the last couple Yeah. There was rumors that John Cooper was going to get let go because they've lost. ⁓ Round one, four years in Let's make it happen! Those rumors have now been put to bed and he will be sticking in Tampa. Yeah, unfortunately. great coach, he deserves to be there. Last but not least, the Oilers of East Ducks. Yes. Our MVP was Jackson Lacombe. Yeah, definitely did his job. No, no, not did his job, did more than his job. was great. Yeah, he showed why ⁓ was picked for the US team. As much as it pains me to say it, He shut down McDavid. Yeah, he played- Like an injured McDavid, but still. Yeah, he played amazing. Well, he shut down ⁓ a one burst per shift McDavid. Not a multiple burst per shift McDavid. I don't care he still played great. don't know if he can handle a multiple-murs for shipping, David. He still played great. We want to make a side note, the Ducks' fourth line was incredible. I don't know type of steroid shots Jeff Vial was taking. But... Yeah, they did a great job. They had some goals which was very surprising and then also just they played amazingly defensively as well. And now... ⁓ go back on our jersey. Our jersey wager from last episode. Your team is currently out. You'll be not getting a Utah jersey. Can I choose a different team now? Yeah, I think we will choose another team for this episode. Wait, like you also choose another team? choose another team as well. Oh, why you don't, you don't want to stick with the No, no, I want to stick with the Ducks, but my team is still in. Yeah, I didn't get to choose. Huh? What do mean? Like, no, no, you got to buy me the jersey if the Ducks make the final. So then if I have to buy, you have two chances instead of one. Yeah, because my team survived round one. Yeah, your team was also facing the Oilers. My team was facing the Vegas. You chose. no, no, no. I'll choose another team this episode. No, can't. You cannot. You cannot. No, it's, it's, it's not allowed. can't another this No, No, You No, it's, it's, it's allowed. You choose another this episode. no, choose No, another team episode. episode. no, no, episode. He was just, uh, he wasn't great the whole series. Yeah, no, he, I think he had a couple of good saves, there's this thing that, I don't know, if you look at our past episodes, um, me and Elise talk a lot about Hellebuck letting in the first shot and then he locks in, but Dof Stahl during the regular season was the highest goalie to let in the first shot. think it like 11, it happened 11 times. Interesting. I'm completely sure if I'm remembering this, but I remember a commentator saying this during the game. Interesting. And who is the commentator? I have no idea. Because it was HardnRyan saying that. I trust it. I hate that he's commentating the Av series. Is he? Yeah. No. No. No, I'm watching ESPN. I don't care. Or TNT. first, okay, I'm sorry I have to do this, but PK Subban pisses me off. SO MUCH! Why? He's just such a HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE host. I can't, I can't, I can't watch the TNT half time. Or like the intermission. it's just... Oh my god. Oh my god. His takes are absolutely atrocious. Um, yeah. Sorry for the sidetrack. But we'll get back. The most impactful player on the losing team was Vasily Podkolzin. Absolutely stunning. stuff from him this series. makes the Canucks regret it, ⁓ after game. No, he played amazing. He was definitely the best player out there. It sucks that like, you see some you can see this a lot of times on losing teams where you see one player that shines from the rest and steps up and you just see some players that just, they don't. they don't do that. there's a lot of players on this or they're seeing that didn't step up. And one of those players was Jake Wallman. Yeah, that that shiny contract extension. Yeah, it's not looking so good and not looking so good right now. Give it Murphy. I saw hope I really wish there was a stipulation in the NHL where like every year you can switch one contract so then so now just make players actually want to play better yeah give give ⁓ give dress it was contract to pods no give nurses contract to pods what are you talking about give kevin pigard's contract and don't give nurse a contract no wallman was was lackluster i i really disliked his game in Game four especially. We're a scared team and he showed that to every single person that was watching the game, every single person on the ice, and every single person that was in the stadium. Yeah, so ⁓ There's definitely a justice to be made. I don't think all hope is lost for him. No, no, definitely not. there's definitely some things he needs to work on. Yeah, and you know have the offseason to do that. Exactly. I'm sure... The Oilers, actually no, I'm not sure. I'm not sure on anything with the Oilers. sure. I hope that the Oilers, a lot of these players bounce back with longer rest and who knows. Maybe we can actually win the Pacific Division next year. Yes. But ⁓ got a question from a viewer. Let me just pull it up so we can read the question. Now that the Oilers are out, what do you feel, what do you both feel should happen for the organization? How do they regroup and adjust to come back for next season? So each of them, spent a little bit of time just thinking this out before the episode we started recording. And first and foremost, you got to get rid of nurse. Yeah. The contract. And just before, just before we fully dive into it, this episode, I am going to try this out on franchise mode and see if it works. For those of you who are not familiar, NHL 26 ⁓ game basically just NHL on a... that you can make your own team, can, ⁓ become a of another team. Yeah, I'm going become the GM of the Oilers and actually do a good job. Also, this is a make-believe where... Yes. ...teams are more likely to accept and... That are... egregious ⁓ come back to you with that. I I'll try and make it as realistic as possible We'll come back with ⁓ what the team next next episode to see if it works sounds good Yeah, first and foremost, I think you got a trading nurse. I Think that there might be a suitor Like Pittsburgh if they're getting some ⁓ yeah back. I'm gonna couple second round picks, maybe San Jose. Yeah, San Jose's shopping defenseman right now. There was a lot of talk before the playoffs San Jose possibly going after Donald Nurse or Morgan Reilly. Obviously Reilly is the better option. But who knows, he didn't have the greatest season either. ⁓ Nurse didn't a horrible season, he didn't have a horrible playoffs either. It's just he's taking up too much cap space for the... It's the same story every year. He doesn't produce enough. He's not Bouchard. Like he's not worth, he's not worth $9 million. He is worth a second line defense. He's a solid second line defense. But he's not worth $9 million. And that's why the orders need to get rid of him. second order of business for Stan Bowman is somehow get rid of Tristan Yari. Cause this opens up absolute wonders for the cap space as well with the cap going up with nurse's contract being gone, somehow taking it, getting a team to. take on Yari's contract would be amazing. I am so happy to trade him and put all of my faith in Connor Ingram. But also, I definitely want to, a little bit of a side piece. There are some targets that we'll talk about in just a second. For sure. You said evaporate the depth. I would like you to explain this. so like, obviously there's some pieces that we want to stay in. We're going to talk about resigning those. But I need a significant change. need something. The bottom six. Yeah, I think you look at someone like Henrique, that's probably not going be coming back. No, you let go of Henrique. Yeah, someone like Jan Mark who hasn't played the whole season, could see you trading him away. Moving on from players that have been here for a while, I understand with, but at the same time, keeping some players is also important. you got to balance that as well. You don't have... those young guys anymore that have the ability to come up. And Biz, I don't know if you looked at after the game, Biz completely flame the organization. He was like, what did you guys do with the Holloways, the McLeods, the Fogels, the Brobergs, like all of those, all of those guys that had the ability to elevate their game in the playoffs and were also relatively young. They're on other teams now. One of them is still in the playoffs. it was really petty for the St. Louis Blues to do. after the game, Biz completely flame the organization. He was like, what did you guys do with the Holloways, the McLeods, the Fogels, the Brobergs, like all of those, all of those guys that had the ability to elevate their game in the playoffs and were also relatively young. They're on other teams now. The day after the oilers got eliminated, announced a Holloway's extension. Yeah, I wish him the best of luck, bro. I just like, I love Holloway. I literally said, I told Ilyas my current McFarland jersey that was gifted to me graciously by my grandfather, doesn't have a number on it. And the year that they were in the playoffs, I told Ilyas, I want to get that. Dylan Holloway's jersey on the back, or like his number and name on the back of that jersey. was 55? Yeah, 55. Yeah, and he left. that spot's still open for Matsuboi if he ever plays this game. Okay, fourth order of business. As much as it pains me to say this, I think you've got to move on from Noblock. Yes, he took us to back-to-back Stanley Cup championships, but this year I don't think that he... I don't know, it's just like something about this year that has left a little bit of a sour taste in my mouth. Like, McDavid said it best in his exit interview from the season. They were just mediocre all year. They're average. They're average in the regular season. They're average in the playoffs. And you can't expect a group like this, though the best player in the world plays on the team, to not have any momentum and to suddenly become ⁓ team that they were going into. 2024 playoffs. Yeah, 2024 playoffs 2025 playoffs, there's obviously a lot of pressure there and ⁓ hopefully now that pressure is no there's no pressure anymore losing in round one. Yeah. And I think that the boys will one one deserve the rest that they're to get and also to need it because it's very taxing. Like we've said on the body ⁓ to play this much hockey into June two seasons in a row. Yeah. we've talked about this last episode as well. Like McDavid's played two seasons of hockey. So has Dry Cytil. Plus Four Nations. Plus Four Nations. Plus Olympics. Yeah. Like all of this, all of this stuff is definitely, um, like, like Elia said, it's taxing, but there's, there's some ways that you have to find a way to perform, we both said it. We're happy that it had happened now in round one and not, they get a little bit more rest than they would have. to happen in round two or round three? Yeah, so going back to getting rid of Knoblock, I know that Elliot Friedman commented on this and said that getting rid of Knoblock would be an organizational failure. I don't agree with him. Like I said, I like Knoblock. I think it's time for a change. I would have liked to target John Cooper. That's not going to happen anymore. So the next best option I think is going to get Bruce Cassidy. He's a bona fide coach. He's won a cup before. I think he has the ability to elevate this team and bring that Stanley Cup winning experience. And I'm sure that Knobloch will go find a job with another team, either as an assistant coach or even as a head coach, maybe. Yeah. But yeah, I think it's think no block would be a good fit in Vancouver. No, I think you would as well. Adam foot is not. No. But I think, know, I agree with Elias. the orders have shown that every year they fire a coach. They do better the next year. Yeah. ⁓ And it's not it's not it's not I have anything against no block. Also, I hate Jake Wood or Jay Woodcroft right now at this moment. At this moment. at just this moment. No, no, no. Like during the playoffs. Like I don't, I don't wish anything bad for the Anaheim Ducks. I just wish something bad for Jay Woodcock because he looks so smug on that bench after he beat us. And it was just, it pissed me off so much. Yeah. But this guy went from selling soaps to being an assistant going on. I'm not even joking. I wish I was joking. He was selling soaps at the beginning of this year. And now he's, now he's in round two of the Stanley Cup playoffs. So ⁓ no, I think it's time to make a change. I wouldn't, I wouldn't hate it if they stuck it out with no block. Yeah. It's just, think you could, you could be ready for a change now. ⁓ if they, and I would rather because Bruce Cassidy is available, I would rather you make the change now ⁓ of through the season. Say we say for some reason we don't start hot in oil in typical oilers fashion. I don't to fire Knoblock halfway through the season. Yeah, I completely agree. When Bruce Cassidy probably isn't there anymore, isn't on the table. Most likely. But there's a lot of re-signing that the Oilers have to do as well. There's three that we brought over from Chicago that we both think that should definitely be re-signed. Connor Murphy, Colton Dock, and Jason Dickinson played pretty well in the playoffs. Yes, and ⁓ all impactful guys who elevated our elevations from the depth that we had before. No, definitely. Honestly, it wasn't horrible trades by Stan Bowman. It just wasn't enough. Yeah, but I don't think that it's all on Bowman. The team just wasn't good enough this year. definitely not, but I don't... Trading for Tristan Jari was on Bowman. That was probably the worst decision he's made. Yeah. I would have ⁓ stuck it out with Skinner and Ingram. ⁓ Honestly, we stuck it out with Skinner, And Ingram, our team wouldn't even be as bad in a place now. Because he already played worse than Skinner. He was horrible. the playoffs, in that one game that he did play, wasn't bad, but he didn't win. ⁓ and he wasn't bad, but he wasn't great. He worth $5.8 million. Next on list is to re-sign Kappenon, who played amazing. He might ask a little bit more than what he got. last time but if we can get him back that would be amazing. Roslavik I think will want more than 1.5 million. Yeah most definitely. He's definitely a key player that I hope we do or some like have the ability to bring back but for me it's not a priority. Yeah but ⁓ he definitely he definitely brings a element to the depth because The thing is, is Rostovic usually plays that third line center role and right now that's getting taken up by Jason Dickinson. But, he has the ability to play a winger with dry side and he's shown that. So I wouldn't hate it either. Next, I would try and re-sign Ingram. He's going to ask for more than a, $1.15 million deal. And there might be some other teams that go out and try and target him with the season that he did have towards the end. But if we can get him on a deal and he can be a backup for us, think would be great. even if he continues to elevate his game, I'm not even like mad if you make him the starter. ⁓ I just want like someone else there just case. Cause obviously like putting your full faith in a goaltender that was in the AHL last year, was in the AHL this year, is a little bit ⁓ of a risk. But he showed up in the playoffs. He tried his best. He's not completely there yet, but he could be there very soon. And then just for organizational depth, if you can, re-sign them to similar contracts, bring back Lazar and bring back Max Jones. Jones, sorry. is that? Number six, step for Stan Bowman. Target Jared McCann. Yevgeny Malkin. Frederick Anderson and possibly I know we're kind of different on this but Philip Gustafsson. and you know Alex Tuck. No. will not be on the market coming for you to see. won't. Why Buffalo have to play so well? But those are some I think Malkin has a really high ceiling us. Yeah ⁓ I think there's a conversation to be had there. Whether he wants to leave Pittsburgh is a different question. Yes, it is. 100%. Because they're definitely gonna, I'm guessing they're gonna try and resign. They're gonna pitch him. Because, he's been Crosby his entire career. Like, you gotta keep those two together, but, if he is interested in moving, if Crosby's interested in moving. Crosby's not interested. ⁓ But yeah, no, no, no. Definitely something to look at. And then, if you may or may not have heard the... The Oilers were dealing with a few injuries. Both Dickinson and McDavid were dealing with high ankle fractures. Not an excuse, just news. So that those guys are, and the rest of the team is healthy coming into next season and well rested. And bring Iceman. Yeah, he deserves full-time Oiler. He's every time he's gone back down in the A.H.L. he shows why he deserves to the A.H.L. He's too good for the A.H.L. now. But yeah, bring them up. Bring up some players that deserve to be played up and try and limit the crazy depth cap space. know, try and get those guys to a minimum and get those young guys to their games. Yes. ⁓ yeah, that's all we have for you, Stan Bowman. Please do your job. Yeah, follow this to a T and... Hopefully the Oilers will win a cup next year. playoff odds ⁓ win the cup at the moment, the are sitting at 21.3%, the Carolina Hurricanes sitting at 26.7%. They're higher? Yes. What? Well, they won two games. right, right, right. And then third highest is Vegas with 19.4%. And Buffalo actually has higher odds than Montreal at 13.6%. Makes sense. They have Alex Tuck on their team. Okay. So Ishan, who is the team that you're choosing now? I can't choose the abs? No, you cannot choose Can't choose Carolina? No. ⁓ support Carolina. You know this. can't Carolina. I literally chose them to ⁓ the President's Trophy. can't choose Carolina. ⁓ we need to review that ⁓ the awards come out. Yeah. No, I'll get you like, Dexye. fine. said no, we saw some crazy games this last week, ⁓ the last couple days, The series was really ⁓ good. one, two was really, really fun to watch. Went to OT, Taylor Hall, Barry Zagreci won. Yeah. The Ducks in Vegas game was, competitive. victory, Mitch Marner played amazing. Yeah, definitely, definitely earning his role on the offensive side in Vegas. Yes. And then the as Minnesota game beat overtook the Ducks Oilers game, or Oilers game three I think. Yeah, 15 goals! Highest. Where's the goaltending? And it was two good goaltenders. was Jesper Wollstedt and Scott Wedgwood. Didn't know we were playing with empty nets. I know, but obviously Nathan McKinnon, the only goal he scored that game was the empty net. Yeah. All of those goals were nasty as well. Makar goals were disgusting. Really good. But yeah, no, Definitely an exciting series that's gonna be happening. The Buffalo and Habs ⁓ series starts Wednesday? Tomorrow? Yes, tomorrow is Wednesday. Tomorrow is Wednesday. Yes. Wow. And tonight have game two ⁓ of the ⁓ Definitely tune Are you okay? I'm very interested to see. you taking the over or the under? The over under right now is 6.5. Over. Right? Over. For sure. Most likely, but there's no winner. he's had tougher competition. He did have tougher competition. Yeah. But yeah, well, to be fair, Freddie Anderson is playing Dan Volador. No, no, but in the first round, yes. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, Might be crazy news for the Canucks, but today is the NHL Draft Lottery. Wait, actually? Yes. Wait, when is it? I'm saying New York jumps up and gets McKenna. The Rangers? That's my pick. Yeah, it's a very Batman move if I'm being honest. ⁓ in my heart of hearts, I really want to see this happen. Send Gavin McKenna to Chicago. Wow. Yeah. You just want to create a super team. Yeah, that team is going to be ⁓ Yeah, Central Well, you heard it here. Yishen wants another Chicago. Blackhawks team.
