- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we have some more news
- 0:08Speaker 1: on the congressional subpoena front, as we're now adding Leslie Groff,
- 0:14Speaker 1: Sarah Kellan, Leon Black, Doug Band, and Ted Waite, the
- 0:19Speaker 1: former boyfriend of Glenn Maxwell, to the list. And of course,
- 0:24Speaker 1: we talked about Catherine Rumler and Howard Lutnick previously, so
- 0:28Speaker 1: these are added on to that. And again, I don't
- 0:32Speaker 1: expect much from Congress, but it'll be interesting at least
- 0:36Speaker 1: to see people get put under oath. And as far
- 0:40Speaker 1: as Sarah Kellen goes or Leslie Groff, I highly doubt
- 0:44Speaker 1: that either of them are going to put themselves into
- 0:47Speaker 1: legal jeopardy by incriminating themselves in front of Congress. So
- 0:52Speaker 1: I doubt that Leslie Groff and Sarah Kellen are ever
- 0:57Speaker 1: going to show up. Now, maybe if you subpoena them,
- 1:00Speaker 1: and you try and compel them to do so. But
- 1:03Speaker 1: short of that, asking them to come? Okay, I guess.
- 1:08Speaker 1: But if you know anything about the case, you know
- 1:10Speaker 1: that both of them have a whole lot to lose.
- 1:13Speaker 1: More to lose than just about anybody else in Jeffrey
- 1:16Speaker 1: Epstein's whole circle. Considering the scope and the length of
- 1:19Speaker 1: time that they were both with Epstein, and according to
- 1:23Speaker 1: all the reports we've heard, the both of them were
- 1:26Speaker 1: key components in his criminal enterprise. So it's not like
- 1:30Speaker 1: those two were just, you know, hanging around. They weren't
- 1:32Speaker 1: just invited to a party. And there's a reason that
- 1:37Speaker 1: the both of them were given protection under the NPA.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Because Epstein and his lawyers knew that they were dead
- 1:44Speaker 1: to rights. If the federal government pursued the case the
- 1:47Speaker 1: way they should have pursued the case, then everybody would
- 1:50Speaker 1: have been charged. So that's why you see them get
- 1:54Speaker 1: the non-prosecution agreement as basically a payoff. to remain quiet. Now,
- 2:00Speaker 1: of course, there was a financial component to all of
- 2:02Speaker 1: that as well, and both of them received a ton
- 2:05Speaker 1: of money from Jeffrey Epstein. So I have some doubts
- 2:08Speaker 1: about either of them showing up willingly. And if you
- 2:12Speaker 1: want to talk to the core four, my guess is
- 2:14Speaker 1: you're going to have to compel them to be there
- 2:17Speaker 1: under subpoena. All right, so this article was published by
- 2:21Speaker 1: CBS News and the headline, Bill Gates among seven asked
- 2:25Speaker 1: to testify before House Committee on possible Epstein ties. This
- 2:30Speaker 1: article was authored by Faris Tanyos. Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates
- 2:36Speaker 1: is among seven people who on Tuesday were asked to
- 2:40Speaker 1: testify before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee regarding
- 2:44Speaker 1: its ongoing investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The
- 2:49Speaker 1: six others are Leslie Groff, a former longtime executive assistant
- 2:54Speaker 1: to Epstein, Sarah Kellen, another former Epstein employee, Catherine Rumler,
- 2:59Speaker 1: former White House counsel to former President Barack Obama, Leon Black,
- 3:04Speaker 1: co-founder of Apollo Global Management, Doug Band, a longtime personal
- 3:08Speaker 1: aide and counselor to former President Bill Clinton, who along
- 3:12Speaker 1: with his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, both
- 3:16Speaker 1: testified separately on Epstein before the House Oversight Committee last week,
- 3:21Speaker 1: and tech billionaire Ted Waite, a former boyfriend of Epstein associate, co-conspirator,
- 3:26Speaker 1: all-around scuzzbag fellow child abuser, and bipedal serpent you mean,
- 3:30Speaker 1: Glenn Maxwell, who attended Chelsea Clinton's 2010 wedding as a
- 3:34Speaker 1: guest of Maxwell. And you notice they say here that
- 3:39Speaker 1: Maxwell wasn't the plus one, Ted Waite was. In the
- 3:43Speaker 1: seven letters, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer writes that
- 3:47Speaker 1: the committee believes the recipients have information that will assist
- 3:51Speaker 1: in its investigation. Comer explains that the committee is reviewing
- 3:55Speaker 1: the alleged mismanagement of the federal government's investigation into Epstein
- 3:59Speaker 1: and Maxwell, ways in which Epstein and Maxwell sought to
- 4:03Speaker 1: curry favor and exercise influence to protect their illegal activities
- 4:07Speaker 1: and potential violations of ethics rules related to elected officials.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Notice it doesn't talk about how the DOJ needs to
- 4:15Speaker 1: be overseen or how there needs to be a look
- 4:17Speaker 1: at the FBI, right? No, no, no. Can't have that.
- 4:21Speaker 1: That's what they're trying to protect. They gotta make sure
- 4:24Speaker 1: the institutions keep on humming even if the institutions are
- 4:28Speaker 1: completely broke. The seven were given testimony dates ranging from
- 4:32Speaker 1: April 16th to June 9th. A spokesperson for Gates indicated
- 4:37Speaker 1: that he planned to testify before the committee. Gates welcomes
- 4:41Speaker 1: the opportunity to appear before the committee, the spokesperson told
- 4:45Speaker 1: CBS News in a statement. While he never witnessed or
- 4:48Speaker 1: participated in any of Epstein's illegal conduct, he's looking forward
- 4:52Speaker 1: to answering all the committee's questions to support their important work. Oh,
- 4:56Speaker 1: what a hero. What a white knight. What a savior.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Give yourself a round of applause, Bill Gates. Meanwhile, this
- 5:04Speaker 1: idiot has been lying about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein
- 5:07Speaker 1: for all these years. But all of a sudden, he's
- 5:09Speaker 1: just so sorry and he wants to come clean. Jennifer Connelly,
- 5:13Speaker 1: a spokesperson for Rumler, told CBS News that Rumler welcomes
- 5:17Speaker 1: the opportunity to appear before the committee. At the time
- 5:20Speaker 1: she interacted with Jeffrey Epstein, she was a practicing criminal
- 5:24Speaker 1: defense attorney and shared a client with him. The spokesperson
- 5:27Speaker 1: said she has done nothing wrong and had no knowledge
- 5:30Speaker 1: of any ongoing criminal activity on his part. Well, we
- 5:35Speaker 1: talked about her earlier, so we're just going to keep
- 5:37Speaker 1: it moving. It's very obvious that Rumler was very much
- 5:42Speaker 1: closer to Jeffrey Epstein than she ever let on and
- 5:45Speaker 1: that she's been lying about her relationship to him for
- 5:48Speaker 1: all these years. An attorney for Groff said she had
- 5:52Speaker 1: no comment on the letter. Oh, I bet not. Like
- 5:56Speaker 1: I said, I highly doubt that Leslie Groff wants anything
- 6:00Speaker 1: to do with being under oath when it comes to
- 6:02Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein. Considering how she benefited and how she grew
- 6:08Speaker 1: her wealth on the back of pain and suffering, I'd
- 6:12Speaker 1: be pretty scared if I was her too. And I
- 6:15Speaker 1: think there are mountains of evidence, circumstantial and otherwise, that
- 6:20Speaker 1: would easily lead to a grand jury indicting Leslie Groff
- 6:24Speaker 1: and Sarah Kellan. CBS News also reached out to Black, Band,
- 6:29Speaker 1: and Waite for a comment and is attempting to contact Kellan.
- 6:34Speaker 1: None of the seven have been criminally charged with wrongdoing
- 6:37Speaker 1: in connection with Epstein. Nice little qualifier, but do you
- 6:42Speaker 1: really think that's the case? Do you really think that
- 6:44Speaker 1: none of them have been targeted? If that's the case,
- 6:48Speaker 1: then why is Leslie Groff and Sarah Kellan Vickers protected
- 6:54Speaker 1: under the NPA? And why did Judge Nathan call Sarah
- 6:57Speaker 1: Kellen Vickers, a co-conspirator, an open court, so you can
- 7:01Speaker 1: save your qualifiers when you're talking about Sarah Kellen Vickers.
- 7:06Speaker 1: The House request comes after the Justice Department in December
- 7:09Speaker 1: began the process of releasing millions of files related to
- 7:13Speaker 1: its decades-long investigation into Epstein, a wealthy financier, pedophile, who
- 7:18Speaker 1: was accused of running an extensive sex trafficking operation with
- 7:22Speaker 1: Maxwell's aide. The two are believed to have victimized dozens
- 7:26Speaker 1: of underage girls and women. Dozens? The Justice Department itself
- 7:30Speaker 1: said over a thousand. Where do they get these numbers from? Yo,
- 7:34Speaker 1: you don't have to, like, be an expert in what's
- 7:36Speaker 1: going on in the case, but you should at least
- 7:38Speaker 1: have the very basics down, right? The Justice Department only
- 7:43Speaker 1: released the files after Congress passed a bill in November
- 7:47Speaker 1: signed into law by President Trump compelling it to do so.
- 7:51Speaker 1: In 2008, Epstein pleaded guilty in Florida and the state
- 7:54Speaker 1: charges of soliciting prostitution in exchange for having a federal
- 7:59Speaker 1: case against him dropped. Charges for soliciting prostitution. Not soliciting
- 8:04Speaker 1: prostitution from a child, right? Not abusing a child. Just
- 8:08Speaker 1: soliciting prostitution. Yo, what's going on with CBS? Is Barry
- 8:12Speaker 1: Weiss writing all these articles? Sure seems like it. A
- 8:17Speaker 1: New York federal grand jury indicted Epstein on child sex
- 8:20Speaker 1: trafficking charges in July of 2019. but he was found
- 8:24Speaker 1: dead weeks later in August 2019 in a Manhattan jail.
- 8:28Speaker 1: His cause of death was ruled a suicide. No questions
- 8:32Speaker 1: about it, not alleged, not called, but ruled a suicide,
- 8:35Speaker 1: so that's the end of it. Maxwell was convicted in
- 8:39Speaker 1: 2021 of federal sex trafficking charges and later sentenced to
- 8:44Speaker 1: 20 years in prison. The released files, however, have revealed
- 8:48Speaker 1: the wealthy financier's deep connection to the rich and powerful,
- 8:52Speaker 1: that persisted well after his Florida conviction. Last week, Gates
- 8:57Speaker 1: apologized to the staff of his philanthropic Gates Foundation for
- 9:01Speaker 1: his ties to Epstein, which he said began in 2011
- 9:05Speaker 1: and continued through 2014. Imagine knowing what Jeffrey Epstein was
- 9:11Speaker 1: and showing up to his house asking for money. Hey,
- 9:14Speaker 1: you know, hey Jeff. I was wondering if you wanted
- 9:16Speaker 1: to help me save the world. I know you abuse
- 9:18Speaker 1: kids and shit, but we're going to overlook that. You
- 9:21Speaker 1: got a couple mil for your boy? Like what? You
- 9:25Speaker 1: don't have anybody else you can go and get money from? Nobody.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Not one single person. I'm pretty sure there's some rich
- 9:31Speaker 1: people out there that would love to help you out.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Even if it's only for tax purposes. But Jeffrey Epstein?
- 9:38Speaker 1: Bill Gates. Nobody believes you, buddy. According to audio of
- 9:43Speaker 1: the apology obtained by the Wall Street Journal, Gates told
- 9:46Speaker 1: staff he and Epstein shared a private jet together once
- 9:49Speaker 1: and spent time in Germany, France, New York, and Washington.
- 9:54Speaker 1: You know, hardly knew each other. I fly on jets
- 9:57Speaker 1: with people all the time who I don't know. I mean,
- 10:01Speaker 1: I'm flying commercial, but that's not the point, I guess.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Included in the trove of DOJ files were two emails
- 10:08Speaker 1: Epstein sent to himself on July 18th, 2013, containing unverified
- 10:13Speaker 1: allegations that Gates had extramarital sex with Russian girls and
- 10:18Speaker 1: that resulted in sexually transmitted disease requiring antibiotic treatment. In
- 10:24Speaker 1: one email, Epstein claimed Gates also sought, surreptitiously, to give
- 10:30Speaker 1: antibiotics to his then-wife, Melinda Gates. Well, that's weird, because
- 10:36Speaker 1: he did admit that he had those affairs, right? So,
- 10:41Speaker 1: what do you mean, alleged? Pro tip, it's not alleged
- 10:45Speaker 1: when it's proved to be a fact. The emails appeared
- 10:49Speaker 1: to have been written by Epstein on behalf of an
- 10:52Speaker 1: aggrieved employee of Gates who was resigning. Regarding those allegations,
- 10:56Speaker 1: a Gates spokesman told CBS News in January that the
- 11:00Speaker 1: claims are absolutely absurd and completely false. The only thing
- 11:04Speaker 1: these documents demonstrate is Epstein's frustration that he did not
- 11:08Speaker 1: have an ongoing relationship with Gates and the lengths he
- 11:11Speaker 1: would go to entrap and defame him. At last week's
- 11:15Speaker 1: town hall, according to the journal, Gates admitted that he
- 11:18Speaker 1: did have affairs, one with a Russian bridge player, who
- 11:22Speaker 1: he met at bridge events, and one with a Russian
- 11:24Speaker 1: nuclear physicist, who I met through business activities. So he
- 11:28Speaker 1: was lying, okay? Just like he's been lying about everything
- 11:32Speaker 1: that has to do with Jeffrey Epstein. And if you
- 11:35Speaker 1: want to believe him, cool. I don't care. Personally, I
- 11:39Speaker 1: don't believe the guy at all. Catherine Rumler wrote that
- 11:42Speaker 1: she adored Epstein. Rumler served as the White House Counselor,
- 11:46Speaker 1: under Obama from 2011 to 2014, before joining the law
- 11:51Speaker 1: firm Latham & Watkins in 2014, and then Goldman Sachs
- 11:57Speaker 1: in 2020. Rumler appeared several times in the Justice Department's
- 12:01Speaker 1: release files, including a December 2015 email exchange in which
- 12:08Speaker 1: she wrote that she adored Epstein. How cute. What a
- 12:12Speaker 1: great cute couple. Helicopters, volcanoes. In May of 2015, Epstein
- 12:20Speaker 1: asked Rumler if she could get filmmaker Woody Allen and
- 12:23Speaker 1: his wife Soon-Yi a tour of the White House, which
- 12:26Speaker 1: took place in December 2015, according to White House records.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Last month, Rumler announced she would resign from her role
- 12:34Speaker 1: as top lawyer for Goldman Sachs in the wake of
- 12:37Speaker 1: the release files. Well, the least you could do. Imagine
- 12:41Speaker 1: being one of her colleagues over at Goldman Sachs. Pretty
- 12:44Speaker 1: awkward conversation. at the coffee machine. So, uh, Kathy, get
- 12:49Speaker 1: any chicken noodle soup from Uncle Jeffy lately? The DOJ's
- 12:54Speaker 1: documents show that Black, co-founder of investment firm Apollo Global Management,
- 12:58Speaker 1: received advice from Epstein on how to keep a six-year
- 13:01Speaker 1: affair with a Russian woman from going public. In one
- 13:05Speaker 1: September 2015 email, Epstein suggested to Black that he hire
- 13:10Speaker 1: former law enforcement officers to approach the woman about signing
- 13:14Speaker 1: a nondisclosure agreement. Choose method of message delivery, my choice,
- 13:18Speaker 1: to highly respected former law enforcement agents, fill in the blank, immigration,
- 13:24Speaker 1: Scotland Yard, SFO, who may knock on the door and
- 13:27Speaker 1: present the terms, Epstein wrote. In October of 2015, the
- 13:32Speaker 1: woman signed a non-disclosure agreement with Black in which he
- 13:37Speaker 1: agreed to pay her $ 100, 000 monthly for 15 years. forgive
- 13:42Speaker 1: a $ 1 million loan and provide 2 million British pounds
- 13:45Speaker 1: for her to obtain legal status in the UK. Senate
- 13:49Speaker 1: Finance Committee documents also show that Black paid Epstein $ 158
- 13:54Speaker 1: million for tax and estate planning services. Black stepped down
- 13:58Speaker 1: as chairman and CEO of Apollo in 2021. A law
- 14:02Speaker 1: firm retained by Apollo's board to review Black's dealings with
- 14:06Speaker 1: Epstein cleared Black of any possible wrongdoing. Well, he's been cleared.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Donald Trump's been cleared by Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton's been
- 14:14Speaker 1: cleared by Donald Trump. I guess we could just pack
- 14:18Speaker 1: it in, huh? No need to have any subpoenas. No
- 14:21Speaker 1: need for an investigation. I mean, I don't know why
- 14:23Speaker 1: you're laughing. Have you checked the Dow? I mean, it's
- 14:27Speaker 1: under 50,000. So that means we can talk about Epstein again, right?
- 14:31Speaker 1: Wasn't that the barometer that was set by Pam Bondi? Now,
- 14:35Speaker 1: as far as these subpoenas, look, it's a good step, right?
- 14:39Speaker 1: But I have my doubts about what we're going to learn.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Have you learned anything new from any of these depositions yet?
- 14:46Speaker 1: I know I haven't. But with that said, we'll keep
- 14:49Speaker 1: an open mind and we'll see what happens. And when
- 14:51Speaker 1: we have some concrete dates for all these people, we'll
- 14:54Speaker 1: get those added to the catalog as well. All right, everybody,
- 14:58Speaker 1: that's going to do it for this one. All the
- 15:00Speaker 1: information that goes with this episode can be found in
- 15:04Speaker 1: the description box.
