Latest / Aspergers & Autism Podcast [The Aspie World] AuDHD / Autistic People Die Early!?
Transcript
- 0:00So there's a new study out that says that autistic people die
- 0:03earlier than non autistic people.
- 0:06The life expectancy for an autistic individual is somewhere
- 0:09between 30 and 50 years old. And that's a staggering
- 0:11statistic. Guys, welcome back to the ASP
- 0:13world. My name is Dan.
- 0:13I have autism, ADHDOCD and dyslexia, and I make weekly
- 0:17videos all about this stuff. But today specifically, I'm
- 0:19doing two things. I'm answering a question which I
- 0:21put in a video yesterday. I posed a question, I just seen
- 0:23a video and today I'm going to answer that question.
- 0:25But also today I'm going to pose another question and I'm going
- 0:28to reveal more more interesting information about this and how I
- 0:32can help you specifically with videos coming out tomorrow,
- 0:35which is unlike anything I've ever done before.
- 0:37I'm just going to blow in mind. Now, autistic individuals 80% of
- 0:41the time are out of work or unable to get work.
- 0:44Now this is a crazy statistic and I was talking about this in
- 0:46the last video, but in terms of why this happens, there are
- 0:49multitude of issues. One of the main things is that
- 0:52autistic individuals sometimes and actually a lot of the time,
- 0:57will lack self-confidence, self-awareness, self-awareness
- 0:59and self-confidence. When those things dip, you have
- 1:02a lack of ability to go forward systematically, which means if
- 1:07you're feeling less adequate than the other person, if you're
- 1:10feeling intimidated by the work you're going to present to do,
- 1:14then you are going to look not confident.
- 1:17And you're also going to feel a lack of confidence, which will
- 1:19also spoil the job. Like if you were told to operate
- 1:22a piece of machinery, but you didn't know how machinery
- 1:23worked, you'd be less confident in working that machinery.
- 1:26Which means that if somebody else came in and they were
- 1:28confident in using that machine because they knew about it, then
- 1:31they would be like, you know, have the upper hand to you.
- 1:34So it's all about creating confidence around the thing that
- 1:37you currently have issues with. And this is done in a multitude
- 1:41of ways. Now, specifically for work, you
- 1:43understand the machinery and the mechanics for the thing you were
- 1:45working on. You become more confident in it
- 1:47and the confident will exceed your expectations in what you
- 1:51think to be successful in that job role.
- 1:53And that is how you can do that. Now, I'm actually teaching this
- 1:56in a program and I'll speak more about that tomorrow, but
- 1:58specifically that issue is is so unbelievably easy to fix as long
- 2:05as you know what you're doing. Now, at the beginning of this
- 2:07video, I said that there's a huge statistical data piece that
- 2:10came out saying autistic individuals are going to die
- 2:12earlier. This comes from a fact that
- 2:14autistic individuals have issues with mental health issues.
- 2:19They'll have issues with, you know, communication,
- 2:21responsibilities of trying to communicate with other people,
- 2:24relationships, work, love life, children, family life, friends,
- 2:29circles. All these things will become
- 2:31added pressure and these things may topple over on top of an
- 2:35autistic person. But why are they dying early?
- 2:37What is the what is the reason for this?
- 2:40And is that something you could do about it?
- 2:42Now there is an in tomorrow's video, which is my last video in
- 2:46this three video sequence. I'm going to talk all about that
- 2:49and and a fantastic opportunity I have for every autistic adult.
- 2:52Now, if you're an autistic adult watching this, keep watching.

- 3:05video. It's going to blow your mind.
- 3:07It's like like anything I've ever done before.
