The federal government unveiled a 10-year roadmap to tackle the Colorado River’s water crisis, hitting Nevada with mandatory cuts — but not as harsh as earlier proposals. Under the new framework, Nevada must reduce its water use by 50,000 acre-feet over two years, part of a 1.5 million-acre-foot cut across Lower Basin states. In extreme droughts, cuts could balloon to 3 million acre-feet annually — still leaving Nevada with the smallest burden.
