- 0:00Speaker 1: Treks, the Galaxy's most unpredictable Star trek podcast. Good good morning, everyone,
- 0:19Speaker 1: and welcome to trek Cast, the Galaxy's most unpredictable Star
- 0:23Speaker 1: trek podcast. Today on the show, we're gonna talk about
- 0:27Speaker 1: Star Trek Con. Plus we've got your listener feedback. Daniel's
- 0:33Speaker 1: got the news, and now I am the admin no
- 0:37Speaker 1: the bizarre of the trek Cast Facebook group Scott Strong
- 0:41Speaker 1: Beard Powders.
- 0:42Speaker 2: I was gonna say it's it's gonna be a Star
- 0:43Speaker 2: trek Con and a Star Trek Con.
- 0:46Speaker 1: That's right, exactly. Yeah.
- 0:49Speaker 2: So what are you doing, man?
- 0:51Speaker 1: I'm doing great. I'm doing great. It's yeah great. Thanksgiving
- 0:55Speaker 1: had you know, I got four days off, so I'm
- 0:58Speaker 1: going back to work tonight.
- 1:00Speaker 2: So oh nice.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Yeah, the weather's a little the weather's a little crappy. Uh,
- 1:06Speaker 1: I don't it's not. We got like a foot oh man.
- 1:12Speaker 1: But it's supposed to clear up by tonight, so that
- 1:15Speaker 1: shouldn't be too bad.
- 1:16Speaker 2: By clear up, you mean the roads will clear up, not.
- 1:18Speaker 1: The roads will right. The roads will clear up, though
- 1:21Speaker 1: they're pretty good at snow removal around here. So I
- 1:24Speaker 1: mean it's Michigan and Indiana and Illinois, so yeah.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Yeah, they're used to it. But yeah, we had a
- 1:32Speaker 3: dusting and that's about it. Okay, but not not too
- 1:36Speaker 3: bad yet. It's been weird, man, Like we used to
- 1:40Speaker 3: get snow by now when I was like in high school,
- 1:43Speaker 3: and now we don't really get snow until like January,
- 1:47Speaker 3: like we'll get dustings, but like actual sticks on the ground,
- 1:50Speaker 3: snow isn't until January.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Now. Don't they have a name for that or a
- 1:54Speaker 1: concept for that? Yes, yes, I think they do. They
- 1:59Speaker 1: do has something to do with warming and climate the globe, yes, yeah,
- 2:06Speaker 1: Or it's just a coincidence, right.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Or it's just you know, it's it's a lie and
- 2:10Speaker 2: you know.
- 2:11Speaker 1: It's it's funny. I'm I'm rewatching U Picard and I'm
- 2:15Speaker 1: I'm in the middle of season I don't know how bored.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I guess I just got it, just got a hankred
- 2:22Speaker 1: and I'm I'm I'm I just started season two. And
- 2:26Speaker 1: you know, if you recall that season two is about
- 2:28Speaker 1: a timeline change, and so the the Evil Earth instead
- 2:34Speaker 1: of fixing the ozone, they just put a band aid
- 2:37Speaker 1: on it and they basically put a giant like saran
- 2:42Speaker 1: wrap force field grid around the earth to fix the
- 2:45Speaker 1: Ozo layer. It's instead of like, you know, reverse the damage.
- 2:49Speaker 2: I feel like that's what we would do.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I've been I just started watching the A TV
- 2:58Speaker 4: show Welcome to Dry.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Okay, okay, and I have no idea what that is.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Oh, it's the horror movie with the clown.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Oh with the clown. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. If my
- 3:09Speaker 1: wife is here, she'd be like, hey, dummy, it's the
- 3:11Speaker 1: blah blah blah. She knows all about that stuff.
- 3:13Speaker 2: But yeah, no, it's it's the one with the clown.
- 3:15Speaker 2: And uh, it's weird, man, it's really weird.
- 3:19Speaker 1: You know.
- 3:19Speaker 2: I kind of like horror stuff. So I got into that.
- 3:22Speaker 4: And then I also I am starting to watch you
- 3:24Speaker 4: ever see that show American Gods.
- 3:27Speaker 1: I've heard of it, I have nothing seen it.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Well it's on it's on on Amazon right now.
- 3:33Speaker 1: And watching that and now's the time, right because you
- 3:36Speaker 1: can't there's nothing to do outside. I can't walk outside,
- 3:39Speaker 1: let alone. Yeah, you can barely drive. So now's the
- 3:41Speaker 1: time where you're, you know, binge watching some stuff and
- 3:44Speaker 1: you know, you just asked, why are you watching the card?
- 3:47Speaker 1: And then I realized subconsciously I just met Tim Russ,
- 3:51Speaker 1: Brent Spiner, you know, and a bunch of other actors,
- 3:54Speaker 1: uh Todd, Uh you know, Chad Chadswick, Chadwick, oh talk,
- 4:01Speaker 1: yeah yeah yeahs played, yeah stash Wick, thank you, dip
- 4:05Speaker 1: ship from Chicago.
- 4:06Speaker 2: That's right, that's right.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I think I just got you know, Jerry Ryan was there.
- 4:11Speaker 1: There were so many people there, Doug Jones. Yeah, I
- 4:15Speaker 1: got to meet a lot of them. So I guess
- 4:18Speaker 1: that's the the secondary thing we might touch on is
- 4:22Speaker 1: the fact that I went to the Star Trek convention and.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Yeah, and you got to meet some listeners too.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Uh yeah, I got to lead, I got to meet
- 4:29Speaker 1: some listeners. I had a list of some of the people.
- 4:31Speaker 1: I posted your names on the on the Facebook group.
- 4:34Speaker 2: That's why, people, he's got to listen. He's checking it twice.
- 4:36Speaker 1: That's that's right. And uh one of the guys we
- 4:40Speaker 1: met in Chicago in twenty twenty two, Oh well, okay, yeah,
- 4:44Speaker 1: I just forgot your name. I'm so sorry. I've got
- 4:48Speaker 1: a bunch of names floating around and a lot of
- 4:50Speaker 1: a lot of stuff running around in my head. And
- 4:52Speaker 1: oh but it was great that it was great to
- 4:55Speaker 1: meet everybody.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Are okay?
- 4:57Speaker 4: Well, I was gonna say, we we also do have
- 4:59Speaker 4: an announcement make we had talked about.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Kind of an event we're putting on about the Yeah
- 5:07Speaker 2: so am I so let me let me bring up
- 5:09Speaker 2: the image here. So, guys, this year, we're not doing
- 5:14Speaker 2: a postcard, a Christmas card. We decided to do something
- 5:19Speaker 2: a little bit different. So what we decided to do
- 5:22Speaker 2: is we're going to do a trek Cast toy drive.
- 5:26Speaker 2: And so what we decided was, instead of you guys
- 5:30Speaker 2: shipping toys to us so that we could donate to
- 5:33Speaker 2: our local charities, we thought, you know, we've got so
- 5:36Speaker 2: many listeners all over the planet, why not spread the
- 5:42Speaker 2: the cheer if you will, and create to your own
- 5:46Speaker 2: local toy Like here in America it's called toys pots.
- 5:51Speaker 2: I'm sure in other countries they have some equivalent thing,
- 5:53Speaker 2: a donating toy to to the less fortunate that need something.
- 5:58Speaker 2: So what we're asking is, please donate to your local
- 6:01Speaker 2: local charities, but share your pictures online of those images,
- 6:07Speaker 2: and when you do, use the treck Cast the hashtag
- 6:11Speaker 2: treck Cast Toy Drive. So whatever you're gonna do and
- 6:14Speaker 2: take a photo of it, share it online and share
- 6:16Speaker 2: it with trek cast toy drive in the hashtags and
- 6:21Speaker 2: you know that way, that's part of our toy drive
- 6:23Speaker 2: and that's all.
- 6:24Speaker 1: And the idea behind that is not not to say, hey,
- 6:26Speaker 1: look I donated something. It's to generate buzz. You know,
- 6:29Speaker 1: you do like the hashtags and stuff like that and
- 6:32Speaker 1: take the photos. It generates buzz. When you generate buzz,
- 6:35Speaker 1: more people get involved in, the more there is join
- 6:38Speaker 1: that kind of thing. So well, yeah, we're we're good.
- 6:41Speaker 5: Dan, Okay, we're talking about I didn't know we do.
- 6:51Speaker 5: I didn't know we were doing a show today.
- 6:53Speaker 1: I'm glad you're here.
- 6:54Speaker 5: I gotta. I got a notification that I had a
- 6:56Speaker 5: Facebook message, so I'm like, Okay, the truck cast guys,
- 7:00Speaker 5: what are they up to?
- 7:01Speaker 1: Oh?
- 7:01Speaker 5: Oh, this is the show. I should be there for that,
- 7:07Speaker 5: mostly mostly because you know, I have to kind of
- 7:12Speaker 5: like I have to be the counter Scott. You know,
- 7:15Speaker 5: I have to be the anti the anti Scott. If
- 7:18Speaker 5: I'm not here, I feel like I feel like, if
- 7:22Speaker 5: left unchecked, his head would just grow to proportions that
- 7:27Speaker 5: would just not allow him.
- 7:29Speaker 1: To fit in the stadium on the screen exactly.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it would be too much. And I'm
- 7:38Speaker 2: too polite to say anything exactly me.
- 7:41Speaker 5: I don't give a ship. I don't give a ship.
- 7:44Speaker 5: I'll tell him what's what.
- 7:46Speaker 1: I love it? I love it, I do. I love it. Yeah.
- 7:50Speaker 4: So so guys, So for the truck Cast Toy Drive,
- 7:53Speaker 4: like we were saying, just donate locally to your local charities,
- 7:56Speaker 4: like like I said, here in America it's called Toys
- 7:58Speaker 4: for Tots. In other places, I'm sure they have an equivalent.
- 8:01Speaker 4: And yeah, just donate, share your photos online of what
- 8:04Speaker 4: you're donating, and use the hashtag trek Cast Toy Drive.
- 8:08Speaker 4: So hopefully we can help spread the cheer this holiday season.
- 8:12Speaker 1: So I'm loving it. Yeah, I'm loving it.
- 8:16Speaker 4: And uh yeah, and then today on the show What
- 8:19Speaker 4: We Got, we got the news, we also are going
- 8:22Speaker 4: to be talking about Star trek Con, the radio show
- 8:27Speaker 4: or audio drama.
- 8:29Speaker 5: Yes, so yeah, that's the thing that some people may
- 8:33Speaker 5: have listened.
- 8:33Speaker 1: To, right And you know, it wasn't it wasn't advertised
- 8:38Speaker 1: that much, but man, it was. I really enjoyed it.
- 8:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:43Speaker 2: I did see people talk about it. People were pretty
- 8:46Speaker 2: into it.
- 8:46Speaker 4: And then I did put a thing in the Facebook
- 8:48Speaker 4: group asking people's opinions and we'll go through that and
- 8:51Speaker 4: listener feedback.
- 8:54Speaker 1: I'm also sending you a couple of random picks from
- 8:56Speaker 1: the convention.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Oh nice, nice, Yeah, yeah.
- 9:01Speaker 5: You were at a convention.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Oh yeah. If you guys didn't know, I was at
- 9:05Speaker 1: the Star Trek Trek to Chicago convention over the week.
- 9:10Speaker 5: I didn't see any activity in the Facebook.
- 9:13Speaker 1: I know I was was a little light on my
- 9:14Speaker 1: Facebook postings about that. I do apologize. Yes, So Natalie, uh,
- 9:23Speaker 1: super super nice. Yep, first name basis with her.
- 9:28Speaker 5: You will address her as admiral.
- 9:30Speaker 1: You know. It's funny. I I met William Shatner. This
- 9:38Speaker 1: is ay, Yeah, William Shatner, and I was trying to
- 9:43Speaker 1: think because his handler came out and said, Okay, don't
- 9:46Speaker 1: hug him, don't walk behind him. He's probably not going
- 9:48Speaker 1: to talk to you. He's ninety four. So he kind
- 9:50Speaker 1: of looked like, I don't want a combination if I
- 9:52Speaker 1: don't want to be here and I don't know why
- 9:54Speaker 1: I'm here, and you know, don't shake his hand, blah
- 9:57Speaker 1: blah blah blah blah. And I'm like, okay, I've heard
- 9:59Speaker 1: really things like that about William Shatner, so I'm not
- 10:02Speaker 1: gonna say anything I'm just not gonna I'm just gonna
- 10:05Speaker 1: get my picture taken and and move on. So I
- 10:08Speaker 1: stepped stood one side of him, my wife stood on
- 10:10Speaker 1: the other side of him, and as we're leaving, I
- 10:13Speaker 1: just turned around. I don't even I just blurted out,
- 10:16Speaker 1: I said love you, Bill, and he goes thanks, and
- 10:19Speaker 1: that was it. It was just such a weird but
- 10:23Speaker 1: kind of cool moment. And I wasn't you know, I'm
- 10:27Speaker 1: not a big Original series fan. I'm not a real
- 10:29Speaker 1: huge William Shatner fan. But my wife is the one
- 10:32Speaker 1: that talked me into getting the picture done because it's
- 10:36Speaker 1: you know, I am a huge Star Trek fan.
- 10:39Speaker 5: Hold on, Dan, let me see, let me see if
- 10:42Speaker 5: I know the argument. The argument was clock's ticking, dude.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Yeah, basically basically, how much.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Did it cost to get the photo?
- 10:54Speaker 5: Well, I'm gonna say, I'm gonna say.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Uh.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Oh, I'm gonna go.
- 11:05Speaker 1: I'm gonna go like, okay, so you're both within the realm.
- 11:11Speaker 1: There was a I had to buy the take. It's
- 11:13Speaker 1: what's weird the way Creation does it. They don't let
- 11:16Speaker 1: you pay when you get there. You have to pay
- 11:17Speaker 1: online first and then present an e take after taxes
- 11:21Speaker 1: and fees, it was about one hundred and eighty dollars.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Okay, okay, so Dan One.
- 11:28Speaker 1: The way they were charging for signatures and autographs and
- 11:30Speaker 1: things was weird. Like if you did if you wanted
- 11:34Speaker 1: them to sign an eight by ten, whether you bought
- 11:36Speaker 1: it from them or not, it was a set price.
- 11:38Speaker 1: But if you wanted them to sign like like an
- 11:41Speaker 1: action figure or a ship or a model, it was
- 11:44Speaker 1: like twenty bucks more.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Oh yeah, because you'll throw it up on eBay.
- 11:47Speaker 1: That's what they're is that the okay yea yeah. Well
- 11:50Speaker 1: I presented them with like had the had the shat,
- 11:54Speaker 1: got the picture with the shat. But I also gott
- 11:59Speaker 1: I probably posts us on the Facebook group, but I
- 12:02Speaker 1: met I met Tim russ oh nice and I had
- 12:07Speaker 1: him sign it because I met Garrett Wang before, so
- 12:10Speaker 1: I had him sign it. This is the photo that
- 12:12Speaker 1: we took back in two thousand and two, and you'll
- 12:15Speaker 1: notice that my wife is standing next to Captain Janeway nice.
- 12:18Speaker 1: So and got that and then I got Brent Spiner
- 12:23Speaker 1: to uh to sign that one. So and I've also
- 12:27Speaker 1: got Jonathan Fraake's and Gates Gates McFadden was there in fact,
- 12:31Speaker 1: Brent Speiner noticed that Gates McFadden had signed this and said, hey, Gates,
- 12:36Speaker 1: check this out. He had you signed this back in
- 12:39Speaker 1: a few years ago. And she's like, oh yeah, I said, yeah,
- 12:41Speaker 1: it was in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She goes, oh yeah.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Everybody was super pleasant. Brent Spiner was a delight. The
- 12:49Speaker 1: woman that plays Admiral nicheyev is exactly the opposite of
- 12:55Speaker 1: her character, super warm. He was acting super friendly. I
- 13:00Speaker 1: just walked over there. I wasn't even gonna you know,
- 13:02Speaker 1: I was tapped out financially from autographs and things. I
- 13:06Speaker 1: you know, I'm looking at her. I'm looking at her booth,
- 13:09Speaker 1: and there was nobody there at the time, and I
- 13:11Speaker 1: noticed that she had a Wounded Warrior Project donation box.
- 13:16Speaker 1: And I'm like, oh, so, I you know, I reached.
- 13:20Speaker 1: I got a few bucks left. I've reached in my wallet.
- 13:22Speaker 1: And she looks at me, and she looks at my
- 13:23Speaker 1: I got an army head on. She goes, well, thank
- 13:25Speaker 1: you for your service. Blah blahlah. I said, tell me
- 13:27Speaker 1: about the you know. She's like, I'm a big supporter
- 13:30Speaker 1: of the military and the Wounded Warrior blah blah blah,
- 13:33Speaker 1: blah blah, yeah, and I'm like this this is literally
- 13:37Speaker 1: the last, like whatever amount of dollars I have. I'm
- 13:41Speaker 1: just I'm in there and she's like, would you like
- 13:43Speaker 1: a selfie? And I'm like, I you're pright. She's like, oh,
- 13:45Speaker 1: you're a veteran, it's free for you. So I got
- 13:49Speaker 1: a self super cool. I said, you know, I'm a
- 13:53Speaker 1: co host of a Star Trek podcast called track Cast,
- 13:56Speaker 1: and she's like really. She grabs one of her cards
- 13:58Speaker 1: from her handler and writes her email address on it, yeah,
- 14:02Speaker 1: and hands it to me, says, have your producer get
- 14:05Speaker 1: a hold of me. I'll I'd love to be on
- 14:07Speaker 1: your show.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Oh that's great.
- 14:09Speaker 5: So that means you can't email her yourself. You have
- 14:11Speaker 5: to have Danie'll do it just.
- 14:13Speaker 1: To know, well, just to set things up. I mean,
- 14:16Speaker 1: you know, you're the produce, you're the producer, you know, right,
- 14:19Speaker 1: I'm you're the producer. I'm just just talent. I'm not
- 14:23Speaker 1: you know.
- 14:25Speaker 5: So, my my wife, my wife and I met her
- 14:29Speaker 5: in Las Vegas like fifteen years ago and she was
- 14:33Speaker 5: very very pleasant lady to talk to. But what's funny,
- 14:37Speaker 5: my wife has seen all of Deep Space nine, all
- 14:41Speaker 5: the voyage, you're all of enterprise, all of TNG except
- 14:45Speaker 5: the first two seasons. I didn't subject her to that.
- 14:49Speaker 5: So she knows. She knows characters, she doesn't know their names,
- 14:54Speaker 5: so she'll she'll say, oh, that's you know, that's the
- 14:57Speaker 5: person who was in that episode that well blah blah
- 15:00Speaker 5: blah blah. So my wife spotted her first.
- 15:03Speaker 2: That's the thing with the that's the guy with the thing.
- 15:04Speaker 2: I just said, that's the other guy.
- 15:05Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly. But my wife pointed her out to me
- 15:09Speaker 5: in Vegas and I'll never forget. And she goes, oh,
- 15:13Speaker 5: Admiral Bach is here. So when when we have her
- 15:23Speaker 5: on the show, I'll have to let her know what.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Her nickname is. I'm sure she'll appreciate that story, because
- 15:30Speaker 1: I even told her. I said, you know, we've talked
- 15:33Speaker 1: about her on the show before, obviously, and I said, yeah,
- 15:36Speaker 1: we we hate your character and we love you like that's. Yeah,
- 15:41Speaker 1: that's kind of what we were going for.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Yeah, it was.
- 15:47Speaker 1: It was a very exciting weekend. You know, there was
- 15:51Speaker 1: a ton of stuff I missed because I didn't understand
- 15:55Speaker 1: the I didn't understand how they had it organized till
- 15:59Speaker 1: well more than halfway through it. I'd never been to
- 16:02Speaker 1: I hadn't been to a Creation I don't know if
- 16:06Speaker 1: the one in twenty twenty two. I don't think the
- 16:08Speaker 1: one in twenty twenty two was a Creation event, but
- 16:11Speaker 1: it was. It was set up completely different now that
- 16:14Speaker 1: I know, you know the same place. Uh No, this
- 16:18Speaker 1: was at the Ohmer. It was in Rosemont. It wasn't
- 16:25Speaker 1: at the same place. It was not at the McCormick Center.
- 16:27Speaker 1: It was right at the Hyatt, one of the airport yat.
- 16:33Speaker 5: So the one we went to was when Paramount decided
- 16:38Speaker 5: to terminate, We're going to do Creation's contract and we're
- 16:40Speaker 5: going to do them ourselves. And I think that only
- 16:42Speaker 5: lasted one or two.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Yeah, because then Seattle and they never went.
- 16:48Speaker 5: Yeah, So is uh is the Creation Show the Official
- 16:52Speaker 5: Star Trek Convention again, or is it just Creation.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Arch Official Star Trek Convention. Maybe Paramount just would all
- 17:00Speaker 1: the shit that's going on with them. They just said,
- 17:02Speaker 1: you know what, I don't even want to mess with it.
- 17:05Speaker 5: I wouldn't.
- 17:05Speaker 2: I wouldn't be surprised that they do decide to do
- 17:08Speaker 2: their own cons in the future.
- 17:09Speaker 4: Just with how much it looks like Terna Amount is
- 17:12Speaker 4: trying to control everything.
- 17:14Speaker 1: So because it's working out great so far.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Well right now, it's still early days, but like a
- 17:19Speaker 2: few years from now, I can keep them putting on
- 17:22Speaker 2: their own I know.
- 17:24Speaker 1: I one funny story with Brent Spiner. I I told him,
- 17:27Speaker 1: you know, I'm a host of Star Trek podcast. And
- 17:30Speaker 1: at this point in the con I had been approached
- 17:33Speaker 1: by maybe half a dozen people. And I'm sorry if
- 17:38Speaker 1: I forgot some of your names, but I posted as
- 17:41Speaker 1: many pictures I could tag yourselves in the Facebook group
- 17:44Speaker 1: and I'd been recognized by about half a dozen people.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Oh yes, which public, which was weird, you know, hey, hey, yeah.
- 17:54Speaker 1: One person came up to me said, Jordie sent me,
- 17:56Speaker 1: which was a new joke from listening to the show,
- 17:59Speaker 1: you know, so it was weird. So I'm joking with
- 18:01Speaker 1: Brent Spiner, who's a you know, a jokester, and I said,
- 18:05Speaker 1: I'm a host to start co host to start your podcast,
- 18:08Speaker 1: and uh, somebody said, I think my wife said you've
- 18:11Speaker 1: already yeah, You've already been recognized. And I looked at
- 18:13Speaker 1: Brent and I'm like, yeah, so I pretty much feel
- 18:14Speaker 1: the way you feel like every day, you know, and
- 18:16Speaker 1: I I handed him handed with trek Cast sticker, I said,
- 18:21Speaker 1: and I had seen a couple of people hand him
- 18:22Speaker 1: a card or business card or something like that. I said,
- 18:24Speaker 1: here's something else for you to throw away. He grabs it,
- 18:26Speaker 1: he throws it behind him, turns, Rob reaches back, grabs
- 18:32Speaker 1: him a dead But yeah, everybody was was super cool,
- 18:37Speaker 1: super pleasant, a little bit of a kerfuffle when we
- 18:41Speaker 1: first got there. I went up and I said, Hi,
- 18:45Speaker 1: my name is Scott and this is my This is Desiree. Uh.
- 18:50Speaker 1: We're from truck Cast. We're on your list. And she
- 18:54Speaker 1: went down the list. What an organization you with, I said,
- 18:58Speaker 1: trek Cast. And then I brought up an email from
- 19:01Speaker 1: their main guy and I said, I've got an email. Here.
- 19:04Speaker 1: She goes forget it. Here's a couple of passes, like okay,
- 19:09Speaker 1: I'm glad that worked out.
- 19:11Speaker 2: That's that's what happened to us. CBS one really yeah,
- 19:14Speaker 2: really yeah, same thing. They didn't remember us until I
- 19:16Speaker 2: pull up the email and they're like, oh, okay, here
- 19:18Speaker 2: you go here.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Because it seems like with all these comic cons and
- 19:23Speaker 1: and like the Grand Rapids Comic Con has been great
- 19:25Speaker 1: with you know, the passes and everything, and I've tried
- 19:27Speaker 1: to do as much talking about them as I can
- 19:30Speaker 1: and promoting and everything, and and I tried to talk
- 19:32Speaker 1: about the Creation podcast as much as I can. But
- 19:34Speaker 1: it seems like every year it gets closer and closer
- 19:39Speaker 1: to the event before they send out the emails, and
- 19:41Speaker 1: then it gets closer and closer like and closer to
- 19:44Speaker 1: the event before we get or I get a confirmation.
- 19:47Speaker 1: So I've got that personality where I start wringing my
- 19:53Speaker 1: hands and overthinking it. And did they did they see
- 19:57Speaker 1: a Trek cast where they hated me? Or is it
- 20:00Speaker 1: I'm not invited anymore? No, they just just fell through
- 20:02Speaker 1: the crags.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Yeah, that's how it works.
- 20:06Speaker 1: But it was a good time. It was a good,
- 20:08Speaker 1: good good.
- 20:09Speaker 2: I'm glad you had a good time. Should we get
- 20:12Speaker 2: to the news.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Yeah, unless you guys went to a Star Trek convention
- 20:17Speaker 1: this week.
- 20:18Speaker 2: No, no, sorry, we're not special boys.
- 20:22Speaker 1: All right, Star Trek news.
- 20:26Speaker 4: All right, our first piece of Star Trek news comes
- 20:29Speaker 4: to us from Collider. Get ready, Dan, we're getting our
- 20:32Speaker 4: first look at Star Trek Academy. An actor on the show,
- 20:37Speaker 4: Rebecca Quinn, better known to the world as wdp's Becky Lynch.
- 20:43Speaker 4: She's going to be on the show. And that's our
- 20:46Speaker 4: first look at her character, sporting a bob cut, much
- 20:51Speaker 4: different than what she usually looks like in the square
- 20:54Speaker 4: circle the ring.
- 20:56Speaker 2: I'm sure Dan is familiar. It's you're with Becky Lynch
- 21:01Speaker 2: from ww no idea.
- 21:03Speaker 5: Who that is?
- 21:04Speaker 2: Ok, she's a multi time women's champion and one of
- 21:09Speaker 2: the top of the card for the women's division.
- 21:11Speaker 4: But yeah, she's really good. She's really good. God, she's
- 21:17Speaker 4: really good at fake fighting. Yes, she's very very good
- 21:20Speaker 4: at fake fighting. She's won a lot of titles for
- 21:22Speaker 4: fake fighting. And uh so now we'll see if you
- 21:25Speaker 4: can fake uh you know, be a space person.
- 21:29Speaker 5: So yeah, let's see if she can fake she can
- 21:32Speaker 5: fake Starfleet?
- 21:33Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, Okay, she fakes getting hurt all the time,
- 21:36Speaker 2: so it should be fine.
- 21:39Speaker 4: So she does say that she grew up watching Star Trek.
- 21:41Speaker 4: She's from Ireland and so she says that she watched
- 21:44Speaker 4: it in Ireland all the time.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Oh, Dan disappeared.
- 21:49Speaker 1: She's sick of this news story already.
- 21:52Speaker 2: He's like, he's like all these fakes and not gonna
- 21:55Speaker 2: be a fake Star Trek host. And you ever go,
- 21:58Speaker 2: yeah exactly with Yeah, that's her first look, people were
- 22:01Speaker 2: pretty excited about this. Uh you know, for me as
- 22:04Speaker 2: a giant wrestling fan, it's cool that that she's on there.
- 22:07Speaker 2: I haven't been this excited for a wrestler to be
- 22:09Speaker 2: on Star Trek since the Rock on Voyager, so gotta
- 22:13Speaker 2: love it. Maybe the Big Show on Enterprise, I don't know.
- 22:17Speaker 2: All right, Our next news story comes to us from
- 22:23Speaker 2: Trek court dot com. Let me pull up this article.
- 22:28Speaker 2: We were getting an update. Do you remember that Star
- 22:32Speaker 2: Trek Voyager documentary that was supposed.
- 22:35Speaker 1: To happen yes years ago, I've been yeah right now.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Yeah, there is like one point three million dollars.
- 22:45Speaker 4: They have showed a rough cut to some of their
- 22:47Speaker 4: backers already, but they do say they are still working
- 22:50Speaker 4: on it. They are still trying to get it done
- 22:53Speaker 4: and so it is still moving along, and they just
- 22:57Speaker 4: wanted people to remember, hey, we said we would do this,
- 23:00Speaker 4: and we are going to do it.
- 23:01Speaker 1: But yeah, man, well they're also warning against apparently there's
- 23:06Speaker 1: like something floating around YouTube that's just a fan made
- 23:11Speaker 1: scene cut, you know, yeah, cut scenes from from Voyager
- 23:15Speaker 1: that they're saying, this is the this is the Voyager documentary.
- 23:19Speaker 1: So yeah, it's it's not it. Yeah, this is this
- 23:22Speaker 1: is happening even a longer and more dramatic, like you know,
- 23:25Speaker 1: out of the gate than even what we left behind.
- 23:28Speaker 4: Well, and the other thing too is like the longer
- 23:30Speaker 4: this goes, the more their costs are because it's going longer. Sure,
- 23:34Speaker 4: so that's another problem. I'll probably have to look at
- 23:37Speaker 4: raising money again. So it's it's a problem the longer
- 23:42Speaker 4: this goes. So hopefully they can get it together and
- 23:45Speaker 4: get it done. But that's that's the wild thing about
- 23:48Speaker 4: these documentars. Sometimes they take a life of their own
- 23:50Speaker 4: and it's a completely different thing. So I just wanted
- 23:53Speaker 4: to share that update.
- 23:55Speaker 1: And then it's gonna be a trek Cast documentary, that's right,
- 23:58Speaker 1: That's right.
- 24:00Speaker 4: And then our last news story comes to us from
- 24:02Speaker 4: the Gaming Bible, you know, my favorite news source. And
- 24:07Speaker 4: I don't know if you know, but this Black Friday,
- 24:09Speaker 4: there was a certain enterprise for sale at Lego stores
- 24:13Speaker 4: for about four hundred dollars and it totally sold out
- 24:16Speaker 4: within minutes. Yeah, that the big Enterprise D. Everybody wanted
- 24:22Speaker 4: the D.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Every every good.
- 24:24Speaker 4: Boy and girl wanted the D for Christmas, and it
- 24:26Speaker 4: sold out quickly. That little like bonus shuttle craft that
- 24:31Speaker 4: that went out to pretty quick. So last I saw
- 24:35Speaker 4: they have restocked, so hopefully you can catch some. But
- 24:38Speaker 4: you're not going to get the shuttle craft. You just
- 24:40Speaker 4: get the D so no bonus.
- 24:43Speaker 1: All right, Well, you know we can.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Get your enterprise, get your D.
- 24:52Speaker 1: I suppose if we could, we could crowdfund it, you know,
- 24:55Speaker 1: get the record of twelve dollars to uh, you know,
- 24:58Speaker 1: pay for all three of us to get it. But
- 25:00Speaker 1: I you know, I novelty versions of other things is
- 25:04Speaker 1: not my biggest thing. You know. I wouldn't even be
- 25:07Speaker 1: hip on Plane, Star Wars Star. I mean, I would
- 25:10Speaker 1: play Star Trek Monopoly, but in the back of my
- 25:13Speaker 1: mind I would just be thinking about you know, Boardwalk
- 25:16Speaker 1: instead of you know, Star bas One whatever.
- 25:18Speaker 5: You know.
- 25:20Speaker 1: It's like Sheldon said on Big Bang Theory, I don't
- 25:22Speaker 1: like novelty versions of Monopoly. I prefer regular and Klingon.
- 25:27Speaker 1: But I love Legos. I wish I said this on
- 25:32Speaker 1: the show before. I wish I played with Legos more
- 25:35Speaker 1: as a kid and an adult than I do. I
- 25:37Speaker 1: have some Legos, but you know, they're a great toy.
- 25:41Speaker 1: They're just insanely expensive.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just not for.
- 25:45Speaker 5: Me, man, Yeah, I thought it. Yeah, I thought about it. No,
- 25:52Speaker 5: I don't like the Lego figure.
- 25:54Speaker 1: They look awful. If I were to get a four
- 25:57Speaker 1: hundred dollars version of the Enterprise D, I would want
- 26:00Speaker 1: to make it as accurate as possible, detailed as possible,
- 26:06Speaker 1: which obviously yes, right, I would like to you know,
- 26:11Speaker 1: maybe someday I'll buy a, like from eBay or something,
- 26:14Speaker 1: an Enterprise D model and put it together myself.
- 26:16Speaker 2: And well, it's gonna be a double express.
- 26:18Speaker 1: On I'm sure, I'm sure, but that's what I would
- 26:22Speaker 1: rather have than a Lego version.
- 26:23Speaker 2: I went to a toy show in early November and
- 26:27Speaker 2: they had it was the Enterprise like want to be
- 26:31Speaker 2: like pretend Legos, but from a they did like Kelvin
- 26:34Speaker 2: movie Lego sets. They were it was like another ber Yeah,
- 26:39Speaker 2: they had the Enterprise from that.
- 26:41Speaker 5: Yep, I have that.
- 26:42Speaker 4: Yeah, And it was like they were selling it in
- 26:44Speaker 4: the box still brand new, like one s And I
- 26:48Speaker 4: thought about it, but yeah, mhmm.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it's that's that's yeah, that's that's expensive.
- 26:57Speaker 2: I mean that's yeah.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Woods by the way, uh is the name of the
- 27:04Speaker 1: of the fan that Oh yeah, all of us went
- 27:08Speaker 1: to remember Runny because we all went to did Yours together.
- 27:13Speaker 1: So really nice guy, really fun to to see him again.
- 27:16Speaker 1: It was, like I said, it was just weird too. Yeah,
- 27:19Speaker 1: to meet up with you know fans.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Yeah yeah. But the thing is it sold out. But
- 27:26Speaker 2: last I read, you know, they they did restock or
- 27:29Speaker 2: or it's a back order or something like that. So
- 27:33Speaker 2: hopefully all all the good children get their ke's for
- 27:36Speaker 2: for Christmas this year.
- 27:38Speaker 1: We've got a fan from over from uh the other
- 27:41Speaker 1: side of the pond that says he is going to
- 27:42Speaker 1: get it and he's gonna give us uh, He's gonna
- 27:45Speaker 1: give us updates.
- 27:45Speaker 2: So oh nice, nice, Yeah.
- 27:49Speaker 4: I on the Instagram account, I've made friends with a
- 27:53Speaker 4: Lego influencer and she bought it and she is currently
- 27:57Speaker 4: putting it together.
- 27:58Speaker 2: She told me she will give us her or might
- 28:01Speaker 2: even be something that you can put on the show.
- 28:03Speaker 1: So okay, when we get to listen your feedback, I
- 28:07Speaker 1: got I got one from Tim and one from another fan,
- 28:10Speaker 1: so it looks like Tim has did pick it up.
- 28:14Speaker 1: So cool.
- 28:15Speaker 2: Well, then let's get to the main topic and move along. Fine,
- 28:19Speaker 2: will now comment.
- 28:25Speaker 1: What happened to fun? Will now commence? It was there
- 28:29Speaker 1: was it I didn't hear it? Yeah? Oh you know what,
- 28:32Speaker 1: there's a setting that I saw that said stereo or
- 28:38Speaker 1: no stereo.
- 28:39Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's probably what. Oh I bet that's what
- 28:41Speaker 2: it is with Dan and why he doesn't hear the audio.
- 28:43Speaker 1: I bet that's all right If I drop out, I apologize.
- 28:47Speaker 4: Okay, waiting game morning gents, Glad to catch you this morning. Yeah, yes,
- 28:51Speaker 4: good morning.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:53Speaker 4: So our main topic we were talking Star Trek Con.
- 28:57Speaker 4: It was an audio drama that was released on basically
- 29:00Speaker 4: on podcast feeds. So it started uh, let's see. It
- 29:04Speaker 4: was released September eighth, went all the way through November.
- 29:09Speaker 4: It starred a lot of big star Trek names. George
- 29:13Speaker 4: d Kay was part of it, Tim Russ was part
- 29:15Speaker 4: of it, But the big star of the show was
- 29:18Speaker 4: Naveen Andrews as Con. He is better known as what's
- 29:26Speaker 4: his name? The guy from from Lost? Right, wasn't he?
- 29:31Speaker 2: And Lost?
- 29:34Speaker 1: I yeah, I watched Lost over my wife's shoulder occasionally.
- 29:39Speaker 2: So okay, but he played Con. So he is now
- 29:43Speaker 2: our third fourth Con if you count the little kid
- 29:47Speaker 2: on Strange Worlds.
- 29:49Speaker 1: Oh yeah, okay, yeah, yeah, doctor Strange.
- 29:53Speaker 2: Yes, that's right. Uh, you know this guy did a
- 29:57Speaker 2: I think he did a great job as con.
- 30:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:01Speaker 4: The premise of this is what that that there's like
- 30:04Speaker 4: some lost tapes telling the true story of what happened
- 30:08Speaker 4: on SETI off.
- 30:09Speaker 1: Of five, right, and there's a there's a historian that
- 30:13Speaker 1: wants to wants to get a hold of these lost tapes.
- 30:17Speaker 1: And there's some people and startfully, they aren't happy about it,
- 30:19Speaker 1: especially friends with Captain Kirk, because they think that past. Yeah,
- 30:23Speaker 1: why are you digging up this past? Are you? Are
- 30:25Speaker 1: you trying to you know, say, why would you say
- 30:29Speaker 1: good things about this man that you know hurt our
- 30:31Speaker 1: friend and try to kill our friend and stuff like.
- 30:33Speaker 4: That, right yeah, yeah, yeah, And like even even Georgia
- 30:39Speaker 4: Kay is like, I don't want anything to do with
- 30:41Speaker 4: this guy.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Conn was the worst. Yeah, So it's kind of interesting.
- 30:44Speaker 1: So it takes place on the Excelsory.
- 30:48Speaker 2: You're there's no Ving Andrews. For those of you who
- 30:50Speaker 2: are wondering, that's it's that guy. So yeah, Dan, did
- 30:59Speaker 2: you get a chance to listen to this not at
- 31:01Speaker 2: all or any of them?
- 31:03Speaker 5: I didn't.
- 31:03Speaker 2: I didn't, Okay, Sorry.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Podcasts are a thing that if if your lifestyle, if
- 31:11Speaker 1: you're the way like your life happens. If you have
- 31:14Speaker 1: a tiny commute to work, and then at work you
- 31:16Speaker 1: don't have access to electronics or something like that, it's
- 31:20Speaker 1: difficult to listen to a lot of podcasts. I drive
- 31:23Speaker 1: a semi so I can listen to a lot of podcasts.
- 31:26Speaker 1: Sometimes I get so bored. I listened to this podcast.
- 31:30Speaker 1: So you know, it's.
- 31:32Speaker 5: Pretty bored because I've listened to this podcast.
- 31:37Speaker 1: Let me tell you, nobody's a bigger critique of me
- 31:41Speaker 1: than me. I I I get anyways, but uh, yeah,
- 31:48Speaker 1: I'm I'm a pretty big critic of myself. But so
- 31:52Speaker 1: I've got tons of time to listen to podcasts, and.
- 31:55Speaker 2: So I yeah listen to them too.
- 31:58Speaker 1: So I you know, you may commune to work, but
- 32:00Speaker 1: then you get to work and you work retail or
- 32:02Speaker 1: you work you know something that you can't you know,
- 32:04Speaker 1: have pop headphones in and it's difficult to listen to
- 32:08Speaker 1: two podcasts just sitting there on your couch. Yeah.
- 32:12Speaker 2: No, I listened to a lot of different podcasts, and
- 32:14Speaker 2: so I got to listen to this, and uh and.
- 32:18Speaker 4: I really enjoyed it. I think it may be up
- 32:21Speaker 4: there with like actually good News Star Trek that's fairly recent.
- 32:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it was a good story.
- 32:32Speaker 2: It's it's only like nine episodes. Each episode super longer
- 32:37Speaker 2: then maybe half an hour when you take out the commercials.
- 32:41Speaker 1: I listened to it on YouTube.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, that's another place to listen to it.
- 32:46Speaker 1: And I didn't there weren't any commercials, so right, right, yeah,
- 32:52Speaker 1: I just listened to on YouTube.
- 32:53Speaker 2: And isn't it?
- 32:57Speaker 5: Isn't it a commercial itself?
- 33:03Speaker 1: A waiting game says, is this connected at all to
- 33:05Speaker 1: the strange New War episode where Lin and Kirk Lane
- 33:08Speaker 1: leaves the freaking gun in the kid CON's room? No,
- 33:11Speaker 1: this is this is not that I saw any connection to.
- 33:14Speaker 5: Is it connected at all to Picard season two where
- 33:19Speaker 5: they teased the con project or or whatever it was?
- 33:24Speaker 1: This was. I believe this was uh completely only connected
- 33:29Speaker 1: with uh Star Trek two and and uh uh space Seed.
- 33:37Speaker 5: Okay, so they're tying up a thread that wasn't loose,
- 33:42Speaker 5: and the loose ones as is.
- 33:46Speaker 1: You know how like you you watch an you watch
- 33:49Speaker 1: an episodic version of a thing, and then you watch,
- 33:52Speaker 1: let's say Smallville, you watch an episodic version of a thing,
- 33:56Speaker 1: you know, ten seasons or something, and then you watch
- 33:59Speaker 1: a movie version of thing and it's like, holy crap.
- 34:02Speaker 1: A lot went on in these episodes, yea, and not
- 34:06Speaker 1: a lot of backstory went on in the movie. You know,
- 34:10Speaker 1: this villain lasted for seventeen years, but in the movie
- 34:13Speaker 1: he was on screen for seven minutes and it was
- 34:15Speaker 1: killed off. That's what this did for Khan. It explained
- 34:20Speaker 1: his motivations. It explained why he became such an asshole.
- 34:25Speaker 1: It explained why he was so emotional about Kirk and
- 34:30Speaker 1: about what happened. And to be honest with you, you're
- 34:35Speaker 1: not not on CON's side for a majority of this show.
- 34:43Speaker 2: And it is based on a story by nickola I.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Don't know if you sympathize with him, but you definitely
- 34:47Speaker 1: empathize with him.
- 34:48Speaker 2: Yeah, you empathize with them.
- 34:50Speaker 4: But it is based on a story by Nicholas Myers,
- 34:54Speaker 4: the writer of Wrath Khan, so that kind of helps too.
- 34:58Speaker 4: So it does duktail to that pretty well. He didn't
- 35:02Speaker 4: write all the scripts for this, but it's like, I
- 35:04Speaker 4: guess he told him a story or whatever and they
- 35:07Speaker 4: based off of that. But yeah, it's it's put on
- 35:12Speaker 4: by by a secret hideout who is the Kurtsman Company,
- 35:16Speaker 4: and surprisingly that this thing is pretty good, kind of
- 35:19Speaker 4: emotional in some parts and without having a crying characters,
- 35:23Speaker 4: which is kind of amazing. Yep, yeah, it's it's they
- 35:28Speaker 4: deal with human emotions like humans do. And uh, it's
- 35:32Speaker 4: it's really well done. I think it's no, it's no
- 35:36Speaker 4: for cards season three, but it's it's pretty high up
- 35:40Speaker 4: there though. It's pretty you know, yeah, it's among the
- 35:43Speaker 4: better stuff that we received recently.
- 35:45Speaker 1: So, so it starts out the story takes place over
- 35:50Speaker 1: many many years from the time of basically the end
- 35:54Speaker 1: of Space Seed the first season episode. We're kind of
- 35:58Speaker 1: and his crew are introduced all the way to what
- 36:04Speaker 1: is it six months after the events of Star Trek
- 36:07Speaker 1: two something along those lines. So, and it also jumps
- 36:11Speaker 1: back and forth between City Alpha five and the Excelsior,
- 36:16Speaker 1: which Captain Sulu commands, right, but we also learn and
- 36:20Speaker 1: Voyager that Tuvac was on the Excelsior, So there's interactions
- 36:25Speaker 1: between Sulu, Tuvac, and this historian trying to get and
- 36:30Speaker 1: then the.
- 36:31Speaker 2: Other thing about that is like typically when they bring
- 36:33Speaker 2: on the legacy characters like that, it takes forever until
- 36:37Speaker 2: they show up and they show up for like two
- 36:39Speaker 2: minutes and then they're out right. It's just enough to
- 36:41Speaker 2: say that they're in there. But these guys like Tim Ross,
- 36:45Speaker 2: Georgia k they're in there quite a bit. Granted it's
- 36:49Speaker 2: an audio drama, so they probably were in a studio
- 36:51Speaker 2: for an afternoon and done, but they're in there quite
- 36:55Speaker 2: a bit. So it's kind of nice. It spread them
- 36:57Speaker 2: through the entire series, so it's good to hear them
- 37:01Speaker 2: quite a bit.
- 37:02Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, So what's disappointing. What's disappointing about hearing this,
- 37:08Speaker 5: it's that, if I remember correctly, this was originally written
- 37:12Speaker 5: to be.
- 37:14Speaker 2: A mini series yes, okay, yes, and then went on.
- 37:22Speaker 5: And it sounds like probably would have been pretty good,
- 37:28Speaker 5: but instead we got section thirty one rights, which is,
- 37:34Speaker 5: as we all know, a steaming pile of trash.
- 37:39Speaker 4: So yep, I think I think I can get myself
- 37:45Speaker 4: in the head of the studio. And why it went
- 37:48Speaker 4: that route, here's my my just complete guess I did it.
- 37:53Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 37:53Speaker 4: I wasn't in the meetings, but my thought is you
- 37:56Speaker 4: had Michelle Yo, which just won the Oscar, and they said, hey,
- 38:01Speaker 4: we have a brand new Oscar winner, or we have
- 38:04Speaker 4: old actors who don't look like their characters when we
- 38:09Speaker 4: could do a mini series.
- 38:12Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm not suggesting they should have used George Takay
- 38:15Speaker 5: and Tim Ross. I think it would have been most
- 38:17Speaker 5: appropriate to recast those those roles. Yeah, yeah, I don't
- 38:26Speaker 5: know the characters. This was only you know they section
- 38:32Speaker 5: thirty one. I think we did the math and it
- 38:34Speaker 5: was a few decades after we last saw her. I
- 38:39Speaker 5: supposed to have passed, right, Yeah, okay, well it was
- 38:43Speaker 5: only another decade or so until this takes place. Right,
- 38:48Speaker 5: they could have had her in this as that character.
- 38:51Speaker 5: You can't tell me you can't come up with a
- 38:53Speaker 5: subplot involving section thirty one in this story that you
- 38:57Speaker 5: just described. These tapes that Starfleet doesn't want um out.
- 39:01Speaker 4: That's like right in their wheelhouse, hidden tapes. But yeah,
- 39:05Speaker 4: I know, yeah, the idea that.
- 39:09Speaker 5: The idea that there, it's the twenty third century and
- 39:12Speaker 5: it's tapes that crust.
- 39:17Speaker 2: Well we say tapes because of us.
- 39:19Speaker 1: But I think they say tapes in the original series.
- 39:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:24Speaker 5: Every time every time I watch a New Hope and
- 39:27Speaker 5: that guy is dressing down Vader in the conference room
- 39:31Speaker 5: and he SAIDs talking about the stolen data tapes. I'm like,
- 39:35Speaker 5: you know, I mean, you made Grito shoot first, but
- 39:39Speaker 5: you can't like dub that out making a thumb.
- 39:42Speaker 1: Drive or something data rods or data something chips or anything. Yeah. Yeah,
- 39:49Speaker 1: I like the the The voice casting was great. There
- 39:53Speaker 1: was a couple of times I thought that the main
- 39:56Speaker 1: woman who was an augment and doctor or Marlon mcgifford's
- 40:04Speaker 1: mcgivens who was the original she the trader of the
- 40:10Speaker 1: Enterprise because she went with con I thought that they
- 40:12Speaker 1: sounded an awful lot alike, so it was difficult to
- 40:16Speaker 1: talk to each other. Yea, who is who? I uh again?
- 40:22Speaker 1: And I've said this before in the show. I turned
- 40:25Speaker 1: my brain off when I listened to stuff like this.
- 40:27Speaker 1: So most surprises at the end, and I'm not gonna
- 40:31Speaker 1: give away the big surprise reveal, but there's a surprise
- 40:35Speaker 1: reveal at the end. I I caught that it does
- 40:40Speaker 1: change things a little bit. And I caught that just
- 40:43Speaker 1: before they revealed it. I'm like, oh, I bet that.
- 40:46Speaker 1: And I was right, Like every time every time I'm
- 40:49Speaker 1: right about a plot point, I'm like, yeah, I'm not
- 40:52Speaker 1: the dumbest guy in the room.
- 40:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:54Speaker 4: I had an Inklean early on, uh that that there
- 41:00Speaker 4: as a relationship, but sure as to the nature of
- 41:03Speaker 4: the relationship that I didn't get that I didn't clock until.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, okay, they could definitely continue on that, depending
- 41:13Speaker 1: on if they consider this a shackle to Cannon or
- 41:17Speaker 1: just a light bondage to Canon, you know, if they
- 41:22Speaker 1: have right right so you know, I get zip ties
- 41:29Speaker 1: maybe you know.
- 41:30Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, I can I can accept this stand
- 41:34Speaker 5: what's happening right now.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, we've talked about them not being shackled to
- 41:42Speaker 1: Cannon anymore. They've they've literally said that, and so we're like, okay, well,
- 41:46Speaker 1: how about you know, just lightly, you know, connecting yourself
- 41:50Speaker 1: to Cannon every once in a not making a section
- 41:53Speaker 1: thirty one and a Captain Garrett that makes zero sense chronologically.
- 41:57Speaker 1: Let's do that, you know, because they're writers and they
- 42:00Speaker 1: can do that. I've heard that writers are pretty good
- 42:02Speaker 1: at figuring out stories around another.
- 42:06Speaker 2: Some of them are, some are not.
- 42:09Speaker 1: You know, you know, I I I could accept this
- 42:13Speaker 1: as Cannon. Yeah, so, uh, the introduction of the other
- 42:18Speaker 1: species was interesting.
- 42:20Speaker 2: That was interesting as well.
- 42:21Speaker 1: Yep, I thought their accents was a little I wasn't
- 42:26Speaker 1: a fan of their accents because they sounded a little
- 42:29Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 42:29Speaker 2: Yeah, Jamaican was a weird choice.
- 42:31Speaker 1: It was was it it was It was an earth
- 42:35Speaker 1: accent y kind of thing, almost New Jersey or something.
- 42:39Speaker 1: It was not.
- 42:39Speaker 2: Yeah, it was different, different.
- 42:41Speaker 1: Yeah, but that was an interesting kind of a little
- 42:46Speaker 1: plot thing. I'm glad they didn't make I'm glad they
- 42:48Speaker 1: made them powerful, but not all powerful, you know.
- 42:53Speaker 4: So Con was a dick, but not really like he
- 42:56Speaker 4: had reasons and he kind of explained his logic and
- 43:00Speaker 4: it made sense.
- 43:02Speaker 1: Yeah. By the by the time, by the time Chekhov
- 43:05Speaker 1: got him in Star Trek two, he had already descended
- 43:08Speaker 1: into madness, you know, because of everything you've been through,
- 43:12Speaker 1: everything they'd lost, because he lost uh huh.
- 43:19Speaker 2: Yeah, that's kind of fun.
- 43:22Speaker 1: Yeah, he lost a lot more than he said in
- 43:24Speaker 1: Star Trek two, but he didn't have any reason to
- 43:27Speaker 1: say it to Kirk in Star Trek two. So they
- 43:30Speaker 1: I like the fact that they stuck the cannon pretty well.
- 43:34Speaker 1: And as far as I know, I don't know a
- 43:38Speaker 1: ton about space or the backstore, how many people were.
- 43:41Speaker 2: On there, but I really liked it. Dan, I would
- 43:44Speaker 2: recommend listening to it. I think you'd enjoy it.
- 43:46Speaker 5: Yeah, I might. I might give it a shot.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Yeah, And because this is basically audiobook.
- 43:52Speaker 2: It's an hour, so four and a half hours total.
- 43:57Speaker 2: But the radio plays, you know.
- 44:01Speaker 1: Well, and that's the thing I was going to talk
- 44:02Speaker 1: about talk like this, and it's when I'm listening to
- 44:09Speaker 1: things on the road.
- 44:10Speaker 2: I'm listening to on his way, we must find him
- 44:13Speaker 2: right away.
- 44:16Speaker 1: You can do, right, Yeah, you sound like you could
- 44:21Speaker 1: play like a Commissioner Gordon from the nineteen forties, well,
- 44:29Speaker 1: Batman or Superman. But you know, there's there's the audio books,
- 44:35Speaker 1: and these stories are a little bit different because it's
- 44:38Speaker 1: not one person reading the entire story. But I've been
- 44:46Speaker 1: doing some reading up on the difference between reading a
- 44:49Speaker 1: book and listening to a book, and cognitively they're about
- 44:54Speaker 1: the same. So you know, it's hard for me to
- 45:00Speaker 1: my attention span to you know, and for time reasons
- 45:03Speaker 1: to sit there and read a book, But listening to
- 45:06Speaker 1: an audiobook I can do that. And from what I've read,
- 45:09Speaker 1: that activates the same centers of your brain, educational centers
- 45:14Speaker 1: your brain that reading does.
- 45:16Speaker 2: Right, So, yeah, I really enjoyed this thing. It was
- 45:21Speaker 2: really good. So I wouldn't mind if they did this
- 45:25Speaker 2: more often with Star Trek, especially now with you know,
- 45:27Speaker 2: our legacy actors are a little bit older, so you
- 45:31Speaker 2: can get away with more stories going this route. I'm
- 45:34Speaker 2: sure it's cheaper too than.
- 45:37Speaker 1: Production costs. Can't be too much. I mean, yeah, yeah,
- 45:41Speaker 1: you know, you come in and record all your lines
- 45:43Speaker 1: all at once, and you're you're done. I mean, George
- 45:45Speaker 1: d Ka couldn't have been in that booth for more
- 45:47Speaker 1: than an hour?
- 45:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, probably not. Maybe you know, have our or
- 45:52Speaker 2: you know four our recession between everything, so whatever, but
- 45:56Speaker 2: it was well done, and I hope they do more
- 45:58Speaker 2: of these things. What would you like to see in
- 46:00Speaker 2: the future, Well, like what kind of audio dramas well?
- 46:04Speaker 1: Probably not a continuation because the story's done. You know
- 46:07Speaker 1: another Hey, let's look at this again. Let's look at
- 46:10Speaker 1: that again. There's so many strings that can be tugged
- 46:14Speaker 1: on or even you know, I know, Dan mentioned they
- 46:17Speaker 1: tugged at a string that wasn't you know, loose. Okay,
- 46:19Speaker 1: but there's it's still interesting stories out there. Iand I
- 46:24Speaker 1: can't really think of anything, but you know.
- 46:27Speaker 4: That that audio that Archer show we keep hearing about
- 46:30Speaker 4: with him being older and his kids.
- 46:32Speaker 2: He's the president. I wouldn't mind snooping along those lines.
- 46:35Speaker 2: That'd be kind of interesting.
- 46:36Speaker 1: You know.
- 46:37Speaker 4: Sure you can't get Scott Beckuler to do a show.
- 46:39Speaker 4: Maybe you do a story about that.
- 46:42Speaker 1: Yep, yeah, I'd listened to it.
- 46:47Speaker 2: Yeah, and then we do it all about.
- 46:50Speaker 1: It and we convinced Dan to listen to it too.
- 46:51Speaker 2: There you go, there you go, all right, anything can happened.
- 47:00Speaker 2: Christmas miracle, he listens. Christmas Christmas Miracle will be like
- 47:08Speaker 2: if we get through.
- 47:10Speaker 1: Academy, Hey, we could be we could be way off. Yes,
- 47:17Speaker 1: could drop and it could be like you know, strange
- 47:20Speaker 1: New World season one or Percard season three. It's like, wow,
- 47:23Speaker 1: this is like the best trek as. Yeah, yeah, maybe
- 47:27Speaker 1: maybe I.
- 47:27Speaker 5: Want to I really want to be alsop is better
- 47:31Speaker 5: than no hope at all.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Fake fake enthusiasm is better than genuine depression.
- 47:40Speaker 5: When does that start?
- 47:43Speaker 1: January?
- 47:43Speaker 5: When does that start January?
- 47:45Speaker 2: January fifteenth?
- 47:45Speaker 1: I think, okay, Yeah, Waiting Game says, what about a
- 47:50Speaker 1: story about Tom Paris after voyage you got back to Earth?
- 47:53Speaker 1: That might be cool? Yes, And I told this on
- 47:56Speaker 1: on the show before I did a chat GBT story
- 47:59Speaker 1: about the hours after, you know, not years or months,
- 48:05Speaker 1: but like the minutes and hours after voyage, it gets
- 48:07Speaker 1: back like how does that work? You know? What? What
- 48:10Speaker 1: are the what are the first questions they want to ask? What?
- 48:12Speaker 1: What is that first meeting? Like? Yeah, and Jack GBT
- 48:16Speaker 1: with with with a little bit of a guidance for me,
- 48:19Speaker 1: came up with kind of a fun little story that
- 48:21Speaker 1: I bet could be turned into a an audio thing.
- 48:26Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, well let's get back to listener feedback then,
- 48:31Speaker 2: since we're pretty much done with this.
- 48:38Speaker 5: Listener feedback.
- 48:42Speaker 1: Okay, I did hear both the music and the voice
- 48:45Speaker 1: on that one. Can you I don't know if you
- 48:49Speaker 1: have the ability? Can you play fun will now commence?
- 48:53Speaker 5: Uh?
- 48:53Speaker 1: No? Just from no? Okay the video?
- 48:57Speaker 2: You want me to play that?
- 48:59Speaker 1: Yeah? Just I know this is good pod, but I
- 49:02Speaker 1: just wanted to see if my.
- 49:03Speaker 6: Fun will now comment?
- 49:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I heard both things, all of.
- 49:11Speaker 6: Them help you feel goods?
- 49:25Speaker 2: Whatever?
- 49:27Speaker 1: Dan, did you hear fun will now commence along with
- 49:29Speaker 1: the music? Uh?
- 49:31Speaker 5: Fun will now commences at the beginning of that clip? Right? Yeah, Okay,
- 49:35Speaker 5: So I don't know how it is for you guys,
- 49:36Speaker 5: but when you play a clip like that, it automatically
- 49:39Speaker 5: mutes the audio for me, and I have to reach
- 49:43Speaker 5: out and unmute it, so I don't know if I
- 49:45Speaker 5: didn't hear it. I don't know if I didn't hear it,
- 49:47Speaker 5: or if I didn't unmute it in time.
- 49:50Speaker 1: Hmm.
- 49:52Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I got all sorts of yeah, I got all.
- 50:00Speaker 1: Welcome to Trekcasts after Dark.
- 50:02Speaker 2: That's right, that's all right, worst episode every.
- 50:06Speaker 1: So, okay, thank you guys. Listener. Do you have any emails?
- 50:13Speaker 2: I don't have emails. I do have feedback on Star
- 50:15Speaker 2: Trek con I put in the Facebook group, but hey,
- 50:19Speaker 2: if you wanted to tell us what you thought about it,
- 50:22Speaker 2: that'd be great. And so overall people really enjoyed it.
- 50:27Speaker 2: James Riley, I listened to the whole thing, so that
- 50:29Speaker 2: was released, very solid, very clear what they were doing,
- 50:32Speaker 2: and answered all the questions it raised before the end.
- 50:36Speaker 4: Nicholas loved it. Jerrell says it needs a mini series,
- 50:41Speaker 4: Jason loved it as well. Norman excellent, best Star Trek
- 50:44Speaker 4: in a while, and Matt was the only one who
- 50:46Speaker 4: said no. I don't know if that means he did
- 50:49Speaker 4: not listen to it or refuse to listen to it,
- 50:51Speaker 4: just a no.
- 50:53Speaker 1: So okay, yeah, some people aren't the podcast or into audiobooks.
- 51:02Speaker 2: Yeah, let's see what else yo.
- 51:06Speaker 4: Oh yeah, if you guys want to join us here
- 51:08Speaker 4: on the show, except in the chat, so put an
- 51:11Speaker 4: X and I.
- 51:11Speaker 2: Will send you a link to join us. But for
- 51:15Speaker 2: those of you wondering who want to participate, also on
- 51:18Speaker 2: our social media channels. We have all sorts of social
- 51:21Speaker 2: media channels to join us. Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram. We're
- 51:28Speaker 2: all over the place. We just went over eighteen thousand
- 51:32Speaker 2: followers on Instagram this week.
- 51:34Speaker 1: So nice.
- 51:35Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's moving along. We're actually live on Instagram
- 51:39Speaker 2: right now. So hello Instagram.
- 51:42Speaker 1: Before you before we're all recognized like at the store.
- 51:47Speaker 2: Oh, I don't know about that. I don't know about that.
- 51:51Speaker 4: And then you can also call us and leave us
- 51:54Speaker 4: a voicemail at five seven zero six six one zero
- 51:58Speaker 4: zero zero one. That's five steven zero six six to
- 52:02Speaker 4: one zero zero zero one. Leave us a voicemail.
- 52:06Speaker 2: We will turn you into an animated creature and it'll
- 52:09Speaker 2: be a good time. So yeah, no one's gonna answer
- 52:13Speaker 2: your phone call though.
- 52:14Speaker 1: Yeah, it's gonna go straight to voicemail. So it's not
- 52:16Speaker 1: like some one of us is gonna pick up, You're
- 52:18Speaker 1: gonna have an awkward conversation. Just you know. I talked
- 52:21Speaker 1: to a lot of guys this weekend that said they
- 52:22Speaker 1: call into the show sometimes, so you know, call in
- 52:24Speaker 1: a show to say, hey, it's it's so and so, so,
- 52:27Speaker 1: you know, and tell us about, you know, whatever the
- 52:30Speaker 1: topic's gonna be, or you can talk about whatever you want,
- 52:32Speaker 1: trek related or not trick related or whatever. I mean, Daniel,
- 52:37Speaker 1: Daniel post it, He'll play it.
- 52:40Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I got a ton of little characters that
- 52:42Speaker 2: I can turn people into. And then, you know, one
- 52:45Speaker 2: more time, I do want to bring up the toy Drive. So,
- 52:50Speaker 2: like we said, there's a.
- 52:51Speaker 4: Lot of different charities all around the world and we
- 52:53Speaker 4: want to help out the less fortunate. So if you're
- 52:56Speaker 4: going to donate some toys to you know, your local
- 52:59Speaker 4: charity for this holiday season, just take some photos of
- 53:01Speaker 4: them and use the hashtag treck Cast Toy Drive, and
- 53:06Speaker 4: that way we can spread the cheer all around this
- 53:07Speaker 4: holiday season. So it's a trick Cast Toy Drive. I
- 53:11Speaker 4: should probably get some sort of sound effect to go
- 53:12Speaker 4: with this, but.
- 53:14Speaker 1: Yeah, something jingly, yeah something.
- 53:22Speaker 2: Yeah, it doesn't look like anyone is xing up. So
- 53:26Speaker 2: that's cool. Anything else you guys.
- 53:27Speaker 1: Want to bring up? I got a couple of emails,
- 53:30Speaker 1: go for it. Yeah, did you send them to yourself?
- 53:35Speaker 1: Or no, I'm not I'm not that hard up for
- 53:41Speaker 1: all right, hard attention.
- 53:43Speaker 5: Then on the con he asked Brent Spine, Hey, Brian,
- 53:45Speaker 5: if you could send me this email right here?
- 53:48Speaker 2: That's right, that's right. The EMO is it's written in
- 53:52Speaker 2: crayon for Williams Shadow.
- 53:54Speaker 1: That's right. Uh. Well, this is this one's from Brandon.
- 54:02Speaker 1: It's a Hello strong Beard. Just checked out your Nemesis
- 54:05Speaker 1: edition of Trek Cast.
- 54:07Speaker 2: Uh.
- 54:07Speaker 1: He said he loved the mention of Jerry Goldsmith and
- 54:10Speaker 1: it being his last Trek score and close to the
- 54:12Speaker 1: end of you know, close to the end of his life.
- 54:13Speaker 4: I totally understood that he part of another podcast that's
- 54:17Speaker 4: like the anti Ussis.
- 54:24Speaker 1: Track cast Nemesis, very predictable, very predictable.
- 54:32Speaker 5: Always stick to the script.
- 54:34Speaker 2: That's always chat is.
- 54:36Speaker 1: Right, pull some deep ones now, he goes. I'm a
- 54:41Speaker 1: big Goldsmith collector and fan as am. I. He was
- 54:44Speaker 1: awesome and I continue to enjoy his music track and otherwise.
- 54:47Speaker 1: It was great to hear him brought up in the
- 54:49Speaker 1: episode you talking about me, suggested his son Joel, who
- 54:54Speaker 1: did come in to help with First Contact. Jerry had
- 54:57Speaker 1: some scheduling problems and over some over another film might
- 55:01Speaker 1: be a good idea to compose Future Trek. I said that,
- 55:04Speaker 1: I said his son Joel. Yeah, Joel passed away in
- 55:08Speaker 1: twenty twelve of cancer, so I didn't know that, So
- 55:13Speaker 1: rest in peace. Joel Goldsmith, big fan of you and
- 55:17Speaker 1: your father. So he goes out to say, therefore, I
- 55:21Speaker 1: think it's unlikely he's to compose anything trust in the future.
- 55:24Speaker 1: But he loved for the First Contact team up and
- 55:26Speaker 1: he's a fan of the podcast and we'll be listening always.
- 55:32Speaker 1: So yeah, thank you, Brandon, I appreciate that. Keeping coming in.
- 55:37Speaker 1: I got one more from from our buddy Tim lamb In.
- 55:42Speaker 1: He said, Hey guys, Tim and Australia again picked up
- 55:45Speaker 1: the new Lego Enterprise on Friday, have made it a start
- 55:48Speaker 1: on assembly, but had some minor surgery in my arm
- 55:51Speaker 1: on Thursday, so things are a little slow, which got
- 55:53Speaker 1: me thinking. Along with hoverboards and self lacing nikes, where
- 55:57Speaker 1: are the dermal regenerators at the future is not what
- 56:00Speaker 1: we were promised, As you can see even early in
- 56:03Speaker 1: the build. The shape of the Enterprise is very recognizable.
- 56:06Speaker 1: He sent on some some photos that I'll post on
- 56:08Speaker 1: the treck cast. Uh uh, he said, Also he saw
- 56:13Speaker 1: this license plate with some amuse me the license plate
- 56:16Speaker 1: it says the Big D and it's clearly a reference
- 56:21Speaker 1: to Star Trek. I hope, and he said, half fun, guys,
- 56:29Speaker 1: stay warm as winter approaches. It's not even summer and
- 56:31Speaker 1: we're forecast for one hundred and six degrees fahrenheit tomorrow.
- 56:35Speaker 1: Good lord. And yeah, he posted some pictures of some
- 56:40Speaker 1: some progress and uh, I'm not gonna post the picture
- 56:43Speaker 1: of his surgery because that looks like a nasty scar.
- 56:48Speaker 1: But uh yeah, so he's got it. He's gonna, he's gonna.
- 56:51Speaker 1: Tim's gonna keep us posted on the on the Enterprise
- 56:55Speaker 1: D build and I'm looking forward to it.
- 56:57Speaker 2: Yeah, awaiting game better? Yeah, I feel better, man, waiting
- 57:04Speaker 2: put a question in the chat. It's just me start
- 57:07Speaker 2: taking academy, look like, ask why are they making this show?
- 57:11Speaker 2: That's a great question, buddy, Yeah, that's that's a great question.
- 57:18Speaker 2: So who knows.
- 57:20Speaker 4: Why Chasmith did just put up the X So I
- 57:23Speaker 4: think he's trying to get on and join us as well.
- 57:27Speaker 4: Oh yeah, so we'll give him a minute.
- 57:30Speaker 2: Comes back, ye.
- 57:32Speaker 5: Give me a quickie.
- 57:35Speaker 2: Okay, okay.
- 57:36Speaker 1: I did give out a lot of these at the convention,
- 57:38Speaker 1: the tred cast stickers. People really liked him.
- 57:42Speaker 2: So what was your favorite thing about the convention?
- 57:49Speaker 1: You know, my my conversation, both my conversation with Admiral
- 57:54Speaker 1: Niceev and my conversation with Brent Spider was nice. It
- 57:58Speaker 1: was you know, Natalie who plays Niceev. She was just
- 58:03Speaker 1: so warm and friendly and you know, not at all
- 58:06Speaker 1: because we've all been to conventions and stuff like that
- 58:09Speaker 1: and comic cons and stuff and just not at all standoffish.
- 58:13Speaker 1: And you know, she supports the troops, which I dig
- 58:18Speaker 1: so and Brent was just just a bowl full of
- 58:22Speaker 1: laughs all the time. He's a character and so and
- 58:27Speaker 1: like I said, I missed a lot of the panels
- 58:29Speaker 1: because these photo ops and things are scheduled at certain times.
- 58:34Speaker 1: So I found myself in conflict with you know, panel
- 58:39Speaker 1: and having to get a picture with Tim Tim Rust
- 58:41Speaker 1: or you know, not being able to see the Jerry
- 58:43Speaker 1: Ryan Tim Rust panel because I've got a photo op
- 58:46Speaker 1: scheduled with Brent Spiner.
- 58:47Speaker 5: Speaking of the picture with Tim Russ. I'm just curious
- 58:50Speaker 5: how much did Tim pay for his strong Beard photo.
- 58:55Speaker 1: You know, my lawyer says, I'm not a liberty to
- 58:57Speaker 1: give up my prices right now. It as soon as
- 59:02Speaker 1: soon as I released the website, you know, all the
- 59:03Speaker 1: prices will be uh be known. It.
- 59:06Speaker 2: I was wonderings here of Chad while you were gone.
- 59:12Speaker 1: That's a good question. That's a good question.
- 59:14Speaker 2: Is it like when you go out of town, you
- 59:16Speaker 2: just like put a lot of food in the cat's bowl.
- 59:18Speaker 1: Basically, yeah, he's got a he's got a box with
- 59:22Speaker 1: sand in it.
- 59:27Speaker 5: I'm pitching, uh Picard, Beverly and Wharf in the skin
- 59:31Speaker 5: tight black outfits Chad.
- 59:37Speaker 4: Yeah, someday, someday, some day he'll break free. Uh, that's
- 59:43Speaker 4: business on the line, So let me bring him in there.
- 59:45Speaker 2: He is.
- 59:47Speaker 7: So what did you do, strong Beard? Get a kiddie
- 59:50Speaker 7: pool and just filled it with like some letter box
- 59:52Speaker 7: and then basically, yeah, it's one of the water and
- 59:57Speaker 7: cat food.
- 59:59Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like here we go everywhere. You know, I've
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: got a hoe. It's like it's like I built you know,
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: when we built the house. It's like a it's like
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: a dog washing station down in the basement. You know,
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: I go in there, hose it down, goes down, everything
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: goes down the drain, and yeah, at this point, I'll
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: be honest, he's pretty Fairal, he's pretty fair. He does
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: he's got a very well you know, he pulls it out. Yeah,
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: he rips his out. But yeah, he's looking pretty Fairal.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: He doesn't really speaking complete sentences anymore. A lot of grunts, grunts.
- 1:00:39Speaker 7: No, Yeah, so Chad is like O'Brien right now. That's
- 1:00:45Speaker 7: when O'Brien got stuck in the.
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: Reason yep, yep, yes, yeah, that's another story.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: I would like to hear the rehab of O'Brien Chad
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: more than just the episode we have or the we
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: have everybody. That's what I'd like to see.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: Yeah, Oh, Thanksgiving was great?
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: Man?
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: Did you listen to Did you have a good Thanksgiving Chests?
- 1:01:14Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: I mean I just woke up.
- 1:01:16Speaker 7: I forgot I was even on today.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: God it's Sunday, me too, prow Did you listen to Time?
- 1:01:29Speaker 7: I've been too busy this week's I miss the whole
- 1:01:33Speaker 7: last part. I'm still cansing up on Stranger Things, so.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, ye, all about Stranger Things too.
- 1:01:43Speaker 7: But yeah, this season is not as good as the
- 1:01:47Speaker 7: the last one.
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: So yeah, I don't know.
- 1:01:50Speaker 7: It's not hitting me.
- 1:01:52Speaker 5: Guys. I got I gotta run, so I'm gonna. I'm gonna.
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: It's good to see everyone, all right. Yeah, see in
- 1:02:00Speaker 5: the next episode. Thanks sounds good.
- 1:02:03Speaker 7: Sounds good, next episode, next week or two weeks.
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: That's a good question. We don't figure it out.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: We don't know.
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: We don't know, man, We just kind of wing it.
- 1:02:13Speaker 7: Yeah, well I noticed that.
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure, for sure. Yeah, we got some.
- 1:02:25Speaker 7: We we got the end of the Greek last night
- 1:02:28Speaker 7: to say if you guys had a you know, if
- 1:02:30Speaker 7: you're doing it. I saw the colin and I was like, well,
- 1:02:33Speaker 7: I guess they're not doing it, So not sleep in today.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: Yeah, no, we got to figure out the end of
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: the year.
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: So yeah, let's make.
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: The post the Facebook group and uh, you know, because
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: we need we need a word categories, so hopefully people
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: can help us put some word categories.
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: That's right, because I usually I'm the secretary for that.
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: I write down everything and then send it to you later.
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: That's right, that's what you're talking about.
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, I'll make a posting about that and then
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: that way we can at least start collecting and then, uh, Jasmine,
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: did you see your announcement about the toy drive.
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: No I didn't, Okay, so good chance to talk about it.
- 1:03:10Speaker 4: For doing a trick Cast Toy drive this year. So
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: instead of you guys sending us stuff here to you know,
- 1:03:16Speaker 4: to us and then we donate it to our local places,
- 1:03:19Speaker 4: we have so many listeners all over the place, we're
- 1:03:21Speaker 4: asking that you donate to your own local charities like
- 1:03:24Speaker 4: Toys for Tots or whatever it is you have locally
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: to your area, and then just share photos of your
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: donation using the hashtag trick Cast Toy Drive.
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: So pretty simple. So just donate and show us what
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: you donate.
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I love this generating buzz for stuff like this,
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: you know, I've been involved in things like this, Yeah,
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: through my my union and things like that like that,
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: and doing stuff like this to generate buzz always helps
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: out whatever drive you're doing, you know, yeah, coots or
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: whatever that might be where you live, you know, So
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: don't be shy about taking your pics and and posting
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: them on all of our on all of our social media,
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: you know, just to generate that buzz. That's what it's
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: all about. So great.
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: And then to do it to our own local charities,
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: you know, local to us. I think it's kind of nice.
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: So yeah, oh well both.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: It says this is the most unpredictable Star Trek podcast. Yes,
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: even we don't know what's gonna happen next.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: It's good pod. It's just good.
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: That's right. That's right.
- 1:04:30Speaker 7: So Scott, did you get to see Shatner?
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: I did. I he told the story about it. It's
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: on the Showties on the show, so don't have to
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: go back. There's a picture of me and my wife.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: We're in the Treck cat I'm we're in the treck
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: cast shirt and uh yeah, so that's pretty cool.
- 1:04:51Speaker 7: You're gonna frame that over the fireplace now.
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, I'm gonna you know, I've got it's you uncle,
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: So yeah, I've got quite the collection here.
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: It's very cool.
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: So I got my I also got my picture with
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: Brent Spiner that was.
- 1:05:14Speaker 7: Yeah, you don't look like data, you got old old.
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:05:25Speaker 4: Yeah, well, I think I think that's pretty much wrapping
- 1:05:28Speaker 4: it up like we've done quite a while.
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: So okay, yeah, I think we've covered a lot. I
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: think I'm monopolized enough of the show today so there
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: you go.
- 1:05:36Speaker 7: I tried to buy the Lego star Trek this week
- 1:05:39Speaker 7: and it was sold out.
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it sold out quick because you don't.
- 1:05:44Speaker 7: Get the shuttle Craft with it.
- 1:05:45Speaker 6: Now.
- 1:05:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm sure you can go on Evan and look
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: for it and pay like three times as much for it.
- 1:05:50Speaker 7: Yeah, pay more for the shuttle Craft than the Enterprise.
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:05:55Speaker 4: Yes, I was reading about there are people now because Lego,
- 1:05:59Speaker 4: like Lego sets are so valuable and they go up
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: so much in price, there are people who just like,
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: instead of like buying stocks or bonds, they buy Lego
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: sets and just hold on to them and then trying
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: to sell them like four or five years later and
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: get that's her investment.
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: It's crazy.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I got. I've got one more thirty second
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: story I want to tell. So I was going around
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: to all the different booths and there was a fan
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: group there. It wasn't Starfleet International something else. Guy named
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: Brad uh introduced him. He introduced me. You know, I
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: interduced myself and we got to talking and he looks
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: up at my hat and he goes, what was your MS?
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: That's military speak for military job? I said, I was
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: a truck driver. He goes, oh eighty eight, Mike, Civilians
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: don't know these terms. So I'm like, okay, what was
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: your MS? He goes, I was a medic. He said
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: when'd you serve? And I told when I served. He goes,
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: any deployments and I said, yeah, I was Iraq O
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: three four ohait oh nine. He goes, I was in
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: Iraq and oh wait oh nine. He goes, where we
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: you stationed? I said, Q West. He goes, turns out
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: this dude and I were stationed in Iraq at the
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: same base at the wow time, Like, yeah, it was
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: just absolutely nuts, super nice guy. So he said, he's gonna,
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: you know, interact with the show.
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: And do you think you may have met him? And
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: just like, you know, a quick.
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: Like thousands of people on base, but yeah, I probably
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: sat next to him in the tow hall, you know.
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: Or maybe a stalker. Now, maybe I have a stockery.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: Come on, I just gotten too my have fans phase
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: before I start getting stokers.
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: Scott, this is what happens. You keep people in the
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: base and eventually you end up in the basement of
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: somebody else.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: I thought you had to have more X appeal to
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: have stalkers. No, no, I'm safe from that right now,
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: Like guy wants to d for Christmas for sure. Yeah, well, Daniel,
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: thanks for indulging me with all my stories about the
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: cod and all that.
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, well, thanks everybody for listening. We'll catch you
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: next time.
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: Okay, thank you.
- 1:08:25Speaker 6: This is Captain Benjamin Cisco of Deep Space nine and
- 1:08:28Speaker 6: Space God to the Bajorans. I have a mission for you.
- 1:08:31Speaker 6: This falls outside of Starfleet guidelines, so I can't order you,
- 1:08:35Speaker 6: but I'm asking for volunteers. Volunteers who will subscribe to
- 1:08:38Speaker 6: the trek Cast YouTube channel, leave five star reviews on
