- 0:02Speaker 2: Seattle.
- 0:02Speaker 3: Welcome to Seattle crackin Hockey on the Global Credit Union
- 0:06Speaker 3: Kraken Audio Network, brought to you by Coor's Life Your
- 0:10Speaker 3: Western Washington, Toyota, de Lyris Beacon Plumbing, Heating and Mechanical,
- 0:15Speaker 3: Virginia Mason, Franciscan Hill, Muckleshoot Casino Resort, and by Luna
- 0:20Speaker 3: and sivtra.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Seattle's parenton Roads.
- 0:24Speaker 4: Tritt pulled into Ottawa on Thursday, and for the second
- 0:27Speaker 4: game in a row, the Kraken were in the driver's
- 0:29Speaker 4: seat for the majority of the contest, Sketting out to
- 0:32Speaker 4: a three to two lead back by a pair of
- 0:34Speaker 4: Chandler Stevenson goals, the Senators found the tying marker.
- 0:37Speaker 2: With under two minutes left to force overtime.
- 0:40Speaker 4: The Sens survived a Crack in overtime push, however, and
- 0:44Speaker 4: took the extra point in the shootout by a four
- 0:47Speaker 4: to three score.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Seattle, though in.
- 0:49Speaker 4: The process, remaining undefeated through regulation in their first four games. Tonight,
- 0:54Speaker 4: the Kraken head to the center of the hockey universe, Toronto,
- 0:57Speaker 4: Ontario to take on the Maple Leafs, looking to keep
- 1:00Speaker 4: their point streak alive and pick up their second ever
- 1:03Speaker 4: win in this building in the return of Lane Lambert
- 1:06Speaker 4: to Scotia Bank Arena. Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, Welcome
- 1:10Speaker 4: inside of Scotia Bank Arena here in downtown Toronto, Ontario
- 1:14Speaker 4: alongside Al Koniski.
- 1:16Speaker 2: I am everet fits you.
- 1:17Speaker 4: This is Seattle Kraging Hockey on the Global Credit Union
- 1:20Speaker 4: crack Adonio network. You are listening to the pregame show
- 1:23Speaker 4: served up by Frost Brew, cors Light, Choose Chill Al.
- 1:26Speaker 2: It was a four to three.
- 1:27Speaker 4: Shootout loss in Ottawa a couple of nights ago, Shane
- 1:31Speaker 4: Right his first of the season, two goals for Chandler
- 1:34Speaker 4: Stevenson as well, but for the second game in a
- 1:37Speaker 4: row for the krack In some mistakes along the way.
- 1:40Speaker 4: Ultimately it led to that game time goal, Seattle out
- 1:44Speaker 4: shooting Ottawa six to one in overtime. Couple of posts,
- 1:48Speaker 4: couple of close calls, and they ultimately fell by a
- 1:50Speaker 4: four to three count.
- 1:51Speaker 5: Yeah, another gritty, closely contested game. Twenty seven hits on
- 1:55Speaker 5: the game by the Cracking twenty bus shot blocks looking
- 1:58Speaker 5: for that fifty combination number. They were really closed on it.
- 2:00Speaker 5: As you said, Shane Reikin in his first this season,
- 2:03Speaker 5: almost had a second, and Channler Stephen with a couple
- 2:06Speaker 5: as well. The Krackens were in the game, they had
- 2:08Speaker 5: chances to win it, but they stated it. They went
- 2:12Speaker 5: up in the end, got it tied and just couldn't
- 2:14Speaker 5: get it done over over overtime, and you.
- 2:15Speaker 4: Mentioned the chances Shane Wright could have had his second
- 2:18Speaker 4: of the nights. Jared McCann i had a couple of
- 2:21Speaker 4: close opportunities went off the post as well. Settle has
- 2:23Speaker 4: spent ninety three percent of their time this season within
- 2:27Speaker 4: one goal. They are one of four teams this season
- 2:30Speaker 4: that is not trailed by more than a goal. It's
- 2:33Speaker 4: either been a one goal deficit. They've either been tied
- 2:36Speaker 4: or they've had the lead. It's times like that where
- 2:38Speaker 4: you would love to see the Kraken bury those opportunities.
- 2:41Speaker 4: And we heard Ley Lambert talk about that this morning,
- 2:44Speaker 4: the mindset of finishing and capitalizing and burying teams when
- 2:48Speaker 4: you had that opportunity.
- 2:49Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 2:49Speaker 5: Well, I'm the glass half full kind of guy. And
- 2:51Speaker 5: the way I look at the last game is the
- 2:54Speaker 5: Kraken had the opportunities to win the game, and yes,
- 2:56Speaker 5: it would have been nice to be able to pull
- 2:59Speaker 5: it out, but they had those opportunities. If you're getting
- 3:01Speaker 5: those opportunities every game, eventually that Shane Wright gole goes in,
- 3:05Speaker 5: Eventually that Jared McCann goal goes in, and you start
- 3:08Speaker 5: winning in regulation.
- 3:09Speaker 4: A couple of injury notes and absences today for Seattle,
- 3:12Speaker 4: we found out that Freddie Gadreau with the rupper body,
- 3:15Speaker 4: is going to be out for four to six weeks,
- 3:17Speaker 4: so the Kraken have called up John Haynen. He will
- 3:19Speaker 4: take his spot in the middle of that fourth line. Also,
- 3:22Speaker 4: Brandon Montour taking a temporary leave of absence to go
- 3:25Speaker 4: be with his family dealing with the family matter. So
- 3:27Speaker 4: of course we hope all the best for him, and
- 3:30Speaker 4: we don't have any further update at this time, but
- 3:32Speaker 4: when he's ready to come back, we are going to
- 3:34Speaker 4: welcome him back and the Kraken will as well. On
- 3:37Speaker 4: the other side of the red line, this is a
- 3:38Speaker 4: Maple Leafs team coming off a two to one overtime
- 3:41Speaker 4: win Thursday against the Rangers. They've scored the first goal
- 3:45Speaker 4: in three of their four games at home this season,
- 3:47Speaker 4: but it's been the power play that has been of note,
- 3:50Speaker 4: and not in a good way. Just ten percent one
- 3:53Speaker 4: for ten this year. Are the Leafs on the power play?
- 3:56Speaker 5: Yeah, they've taken a big drop on their power play
- 3:58Speaker 5: this season, as you said, down at ten percent right now.
- 4:00Speaker 5: It's been as high as as in the twenties last season,
- 4:03Speaker 5: so that's different. Definitely an area they're working on. I
- 4:06Speaker 5: gotta believe that if the Crack can give them opportunities tonight,
- 4:09Speaker 5: and I don't believe they'll try to do that, that
- 4:11Speaker 5: could bounce back. So that'll be definitely a key.
- 4:13Speaker 4: The finale of the easttern Canada swing of this marathon
- 4:18Speaker 4: six game road trip will wrap up here tonight Crack
- 4:21Speaker 4: and still have three more on the road Monday, Tuesday,
- 4:24Speaker 4: Philly and Washington before wins Thursday in Winnipeg.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Finally back home Krack and looking to keep.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Their unbeaten in regulation streak alive and maybe just maybe
- 4:35Speaker 4: take the full two points here tonight in Toronto. Back
- 4:38Speaker 4: to Seattle, Lego Mike Benton standing by with more of
- 4:41Speaker 4: your pregame show served up by Frost Brew, Corpse Light,

- 7:28Speaker 3: Arena in Toronto. The Seattle Crack can take on the
- 7:31Speaker 3: Toronto Maple Leafs. And we are thirty seven minutes away
- 7:35Speaker 3: from puck drop against the Leafs. And you know what
- 7:37Speaker 3: is also thirty minutes away here from us, Well, that
- 7:40Speaker 3: would be snow Qualme Casino and Hotel. Visit Seattle's closest

- 7:51Speaker 3: mobile lapp. Glad you're with us, Mike betting again with
- 7:54Speaker 3: you back at Network Central is a Kraken coming in
- 7:56Speaker 3: Still I'm beaten in regulation too Oho and to their
- 7:59Speaker 3: mark add six points and this is game three of
- 8:02Speaker 3: six on the trip Toronto, coming in three and two,
- 8:06Speaker 3: also with six points. They are in game four of
- 8:09Speaker 3: five on their current homestand the Krack and having to
- 8:12Speaker 3: make adjustments here for this one tonight, trying to stay
- 8:15Speaker 3: unbeaten in regulation. No Freddie Gudreau, no Brandon Montur, significant
- 8:20Speaker 3: losses up front and on the back end. Gadreau will
- 8:23Speaker 3: be out four to six weeks as.
- 8:24Speaker 11: Ever written now said upper body injury and now joining
- 8:28Speaker 11: Riker Evans and Coppococo on ir Montor is a different
- 8:31Speaker 11: scenario as documented earlier, the team announcing temporary leaf for
- 8:35Speaker 11: him due to a family matter. No further details on that,
- 8:38Speaker 11: but our best wish is here to Brandon Montour and
- 8:41Speaker 11: family and hoping that he is back at the right time.
- 8:45Speaker 11: But nonetheless the crack and is still moving on with
- 8:47Speaker 11: four key figures out of their lineup here for this evening.
- 8:51Speaker 11: All in that they're trying to push forward and stay
- 8:53Speaker 11: unbeaten in regulation, where they are one of four remaining
- 8:57Speaker 11: teams still in the NHL yet to lose a game regulation.
- 9:01Speaker 11: The others Colorado, Carolina and Vegas. And Carolina, by the way,
- 9:05Speaker 11: right now the last team with a one thousand points
- 9:08Speaker 11: percentage entering today. But on top of that, it's a
- 9:12Speaker 11: pretty big home coming here for several Kraken. Additionally, Lane Lambert,
- 9:15Speaker 11: coaching last year in Toronto as associate coach, he is
- 9:19Speaker 11: back in the building where he once called home, behind
- 9:21Speaker 11: their bench from this last season. The Kraken trying to
- 9:25Speaker 11: move on from a four to three shootout loss at
- 9:27Speaker 11: Ottawa two nights ago, Shane Wright scored his first goal
- 9:30Speaker 11: of the season, two goals on the board also for
- 9:32Speaker 11: Chandler Stevenson, with the Kraken again, just like in Montreal,
- 9:36Speaker 11: led by one late in the third, but unfortunately it
- 9:40Speaker 11: was not enough, Dylan Cousins beating Philip Grubauer of course,
- 9:43Speaker 11: to tie the game with one forty six to go,
- 9:45Speaker 11: and eventually Ottawa got the shootout winner courtesy's Shane Pinto,
- 9:49Speaker 11: as they scored onto of their three chances. Nonetheless, here
- 9:54Speaker 11: it lines up a daunting six game trip where the
- 9:57Speaker 11: Kraken have yet to lose in regulation, as we said,
- 9:59Speaker 11: and never made competitive ot loss at Montreal, shootout loss
- 10:03Speaker 11: against Ottawa. Toronto is ahead here for tonight and remaining
- 10:07Speaker 11: here Philadelphia, Washington and Winnipeg against the leaves. It can
- 10:12Speaker 11: be an uphill battle in this series. Toronto has won
- 10:15Speaker 11: three of four meetings at Scotia Bank Arena all time,
- 10:17Speaker 11: and seven of eight as well in the series. Last
- 10:21Speaker 11: time the Kraken were there, they lost four to one
- 10:23Speaker 11: last season on a Halloway with William Nilanders scoring twice.
- 10:27Speaker 11: The last Crack and win there was back in twenty
- 10:29Speaker 11: twenty two to twenty three. They're looking for their first
- 10:31Speaker 11: win a course since then, where they won five to
- 10:33Speaker 11: one back in the fifth of Jane Ray, which also
- 10:36Speaker 11: springboarded their run of the postseason when they won eight
- 10:39Speaker 11: in a row and had a seven game road trip
- 10:43Speaker 11: and a hill in baseball, crossover connections also layahead here
- 10:47Speaker 11: in Toronto, of course, the Crack can play and the
- 10:49Speaker 11: Maple Leaf tonight the Seattle Mariners also in town just
- 10:52Speaker 11: with them. They have a rider to get ready here
- 10:54Speaker 11: for Game six of the ALCF tomorrow, and coming off
- 10:58Speaker 11: of one of the biggest wins in franchise history last
- 11:01Speaker 11: night in Seattle, going up three games to two on
- 11:04Speaker 11: the Blue Jays and now one went away from going
- 11:07Speaker 11: onto the World Series. That got the Kraken fired up.
- 11:10Speaker 11: Matty Banier said he watched the game with the MS
- 11:12Speaker 11: also of course browing mustaches here for postseason play. Vaneers
- 11:16Speaker 11: did so as well too with his cracking teammates, and
- 11:18Speaker 11: he said the Kraken doing this had of solidarity.
- 11:22Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, I think that's kind of what it's
- 11:24Speaker 6: turning into a little bit is a bunch of people
- 11:27Speaker 6: asking when I first shaved it is that for the Mariners,
- 11:29Speaker 6: I was like, I was kind of just messing around.
- 11:31Speaker 6: They keep winning, so I just keep keeping it.
- 11:34Speaker 11: The krack and also arriving off the bus here for
- 11:37Speaker 11: today's game wearing Mariners jerseys. So the crossovers, the synergy,
- 11:41Speaker 11: it is certainly strong, and the crack and trying to
- 11:43Speaker 11: capitalize out that energy for this game tonight. Your cracking
- 11:46Speaker 11: story lines, first off, begin with the next man up
- 11:49Speaker 11: mentality Montor Out, which means Cale Flurry is in. He'll
- 11:53Speaker 11: make a season debut and play on the Ryan Lindrin pairing.
- 11:56Speaker 11: Potentially could there be more time on ice here for
- 11:59Speaker 11: Vince Dunn and Adam Larson. We'll keep an eye on that,
- 12:01Speaker 11: but also with Freddie Gudreaux Adam means John Hayden recall
- 12:04Speaker 11: from ahl Coachello Valley. He'll make a season debut playing
- 12:08Speaker 11: with Ty Cartier and Yonnie Newman. Secondly Mattie Baniers and
- 12:11Speaker 11: his impact. He's got three points first four games, also
- 12:16Speaker 11: locking up a ton of ice time in the Ottawa
- 12:18Speaker 11: game two nights ago, twenty two fifty two of time
- 12:21Speaker 11: on ice, to be specific, only one guy had more
- 12:25Speaker 11: than him and that was Brandon Montour twenty three thirty four,
- 12:28Speaker 11: So lightly a big assignment for him coming and helping
- 12:31Speaker 11: to handle Toronto's top six while helping produce offensively. And
- 12:35Speaker 11: our third story line Shane Wright. This being game one
- 12:38Speaker 11: hundred of his NHL career, He's had points in two
- 12:40Speaker 11: straight games and looking for his first point against the Leafs.
- 12:44Speaker 11: Can he capitalize on an emotional game. Let's hear more
- 12:47Speaker 11: from the crack and right here, and Vanier said, it's
- 12:49Speaker 11: a good start here to this season. And it comes
- 12:51Speaker 11: from a word and a keyword intensity.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:54Speaker 6: We just executing on plays. I think executing on plays,
- 12:58Speaker 6: shooting more pokxing, getting puns back. That's really you know,
- 13:02Speaker 6: it's pretty simple when it comes down to it. You know,
- 13:05Speaker 6: you win puck battles, you have more zone possession time,
- 13:09Speaker 6: they get more tired, you get more shots on net
- 13:11Speaker 6: you retrieve those like and I think both both units
- 13:14Speaker 6: are doing a great job of that.
- 13:15Speaker 11: Banier said. When it comes to handling, the mate believes
- 13:18Speaker 11: it's all about getting ready to battle at the front
- 13:21Speaker 11: of the net.
- 13:21Speaker 6: Super skilled and they got a you know, pretty solid
- 13:25Speaker 6: dcor back there they got. You know, they've picked up
- 13:27Speaker 6: a lot of big, heavy, strong d that are are
- 13:31Speaker 6: good players, really good players. So you know, I think
- 13:34Speaker 6: I think it's just getting to the net, getting shots
- 13:36Speaker 6: in shutting down their offense and you know, kind of
- 13:39Speaker 6: what we did the last two games, you know, defensive,
- 13:41Speaker 6: being good defensively and turning their their offense into our offense.
- 13:47Speaker 6: I think that that's how we'll catch them tonight.
- 13:49Speaker 11: The cracking getting ready to go forward with Joey to
- 13:51Speaker 11: cord in that Matt Murray backs them up here for
- 13:54Speaker 11: this evening. We'll come back in a bit and take
- 13:55Speaker 11: a look at the leaves next. You're listening to the
- 13:57Speaker 11: Global Credit Union Cracking audio network around here.

- 16:45Speaker 11: ceiling in the most recent years. They're focus now shifting
- 16:48Speaker 11: on the remaining top six, which is still a loaded Corps.
- 16:51Speaker 11: Austin Matthews thirty three goals in a down year, hit
- 16:55Speaker 11: seventy almost seventy of course two years ago. William Nilander
- 16:59Speaker 11: coming off a career high four forty five goal run,
- 17:01Speaker 11: Matthew nine's big contract extension for him twenty nine goals
- 17:04Speaker 11: this last season, John Tavares as well thirty eight goals,
- 17:07Speaker 11: and also Morgan Riley controlling matters in the back end.
- 17:11Speaker 11: They still are very much a dominant force here that
- 17:14Speaker 11: can be a challenge any kind of night. This is
- 17:17Speaker 11: Game four of five on their homestand and right now
- 17:19Speaker 11: getting a strong taste of home cooking at home for
- 17:22Speaker 11: eight of the first ten games. They come off a
- 17:24Speaker 11: two to one winning overtime over the Rangers on Thursday,
- 17:28Speaker 11: Aushton Matthews game winning goal that was a difference fifty
- 17:30Speaker 11: eight seconds into overtime. They will shuffle their lineup as well,
- 17:35Speaker 11: slightly nol Kelly yarnkrok old friend here for the Krake
- 17:38Speaker 11: in healthy scratch. Stephen Lorent Lawrence back in he is
- 17:42Speaker 11: back from an upper body injury. Your leaf story lines.
- 17:45Speaker 11: First up again with handling William Nilander. He leads a
- 17:48Speaker 11: leave so far in a pretty hot start out of
- 17:50Speaker 11: the gate, nine points first five games and against the
- 17:53Speaker 11: Kraken he can be a tough player to handle. Nine
- 17:56Speaker 11: points in eight livetime matchups, and he'll be on a
- 17:58Speaker 11: line with Mattias Machelli and John Tavares and secondly Matthew
- 18:02Speaker 11: and I is also on a heater can the crack
- 18:04Speaker 11: and handle that big burley six foot three, two hundred
- 18:07Speaker 11: and thirty pound frame. He's got points in three straight games,
- 18:11Speaker 11: six points in that span, and they'll skate this evening
- 18:14Speaker 11: with Ashton Matthews and Easton Cowen, let's hear more from Toronto,
- 18:18Speaker 11: And here's William Nilander on Matthew Nys's net front presence
- 18:21Speaker 11: and now that can be a tough matter.
- 18:23Speaker 15: I mean he's been that kind of player Sin Siegat
- 18:26Speaker 15: here and I mean like he is in front of
- 18:29Speaker 15: a learn that in front of ours. He's a big
- 18:31Speaker 15: boy and go hard to move and strong and can
- 18:34Speaker 15: look at the other way.
- 18:35Speaker 8: And you know, in front of us.

- 20:53Speaker 4: Back inside of Scotiabank Arena here at Toronto, Ontario.

- 20:58Speaker 4: This is your PREGAMEESO served up by Frostbrew Course Light Al.
- 21:02Speaker 4: The Kraken off to their best start in franchise history.
- 21:05Speaker 4: Points in four consecutive games to start the year. Two
- 21:09Speaker 4: ozho and two are Seattle. A couple of heartbreaking overtime
- 21:13Speaker 4: slash shootout losses in a row. They've seen some leads
- 21:17Speaker 4: fall by the wayside late in games. Cannot afford to
- 21:20Speaker 4: have that happen here tonight. How can they go about
- 21:23Speaker 4: getting that done well? First of all, I think they
- 21:25Speaker 4: have to win the neutral zone battles. Toronto loves to
- 21:27Speaker 4: attack with speed through the middle. If the kracking can
- 21:30Speaker 4: clog lanes, forced dumpins and make the Leafs work for
- 21:33Speaker 4: every zone entry, they'll disrupt Toronto's rhythm and keep the
- 21:36Speaker 4: game on their terms. Secondly, stay disciplined, limit those power plays.
- 21:41Speaker 4: The Leaf's top unit is lethal.
- 21:43Speaker 5: Matthew Nice Kneelander take your pick, stay out of the boxes,
- 21:47Speaker 5: non negotiable, make Toronto beat you five on five where
- 21:50Speaker 5: Seattle's structure and depth shine. And then third, get bodies
- 21:54Speaker 5: to the net. Toronto's golten has been shaky under pressure.
- 21:58Speaker 5: The Kraken need traffic and greasy rebounds. Not pretty goals,
- 22:03Speaker 5: just hard working ones. NetFront presence has to be a priority.
- 22:07Speaker 5: If the cracking can shut down their speed, stay out
- 22:10Speaker 5: of the box, and make life miserable in front of
- 22:13Speaker 5: their net. That's the recipe for cracking Chaos and the
- 22:16Speaker 5: six and the path to another cracking dub.
- 22:18Speaker 4: Cracking is gonna be shorthanded here tonight. Freddy Gadreau injured
- 22:22Speaker 4: in that game against Ottawa. He's out four to six
- 22:24Speaker 4: weeks with an upper body injury. Brandon Montour has left
- 22:28Speaker 4: the team temporarily to take care.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Of a family matter.
- 22:31Speaker 4: So of course we wish him all the best and
- 22:34Speaker 4: that he comes back when he is ready, But that
- 22:36Speaker 4: does open up some holes offensively and defensively for Seattle.
- 22:42Speaker 4: Right now, the Crack can have thirty five percent of
- 22:44Speaker 4: their points coming from the blue line to assist last
- 22:47Speaker 4: night for Montour, kill Fleury is gonna come into his spot.
- 22:49Speaker 4: It's gonna be a lot more responsibility around the team
- 22:54Speaker 4: to step it up in their absence.
- 22:55Speaker 5: Well, cal Fleury, you know, he's got his own style
- 22:57Speaker 5: of game, but make no mistake, it's very different than Brandons.
- 23:00Speaker 5: And you know, I think over the first four games
- 23:02Speaker 5: this season, Brendan Montur has stepped up his physical game. Now,
- 23:06Speaker 5: maybe that's because he didn't play preseason and he's just
- 23:08Speaker 5: been running on adrenaline adrenaline for four games, but I
- 23:11Speaker 5: think he's played a very physical first four games of
- 23:13Speaker 5: this season. Cale Foroury can certainly pick up some of that,
- 23:16Speaker 5: but he's probably not going to be end to end
- 23:18Speaker 5: two hundred feet like Brandon Montour can be. So see,
- 23:21Speaker 5: I was gonna have to find a way to generate
- 23:23Speaker 5: some offense that they lose by having sixty two out
- 23:25Speaker 5: of the lineup.
- 23:25Speaker 4: And it's been And speaking of generating offense, Jamil Stevenson
- 23:28Speaker 4: got going last game two goals, And you and I
- 23:31Speaker 4: have been talking off air, along with J C.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Brown on the TV side as well.
- 23:34Speaker 4: A handful of players, maybe three names you're looking to
- 23:37Speaker 4: see get going offensively, Mason Marks, Ellie Tolvenan and Yannie Newman. Now,
- 23:41Speaker 4: obviously Yanni Newman is still young. He's got a goal
- 23:44Speaker 4: here this season already, but you'd love to see him,
- 23:47Speaker 4: you know, take that next step this year.
- 23:48Speaker 2: But I think this is a.
- 23:49Speaker 4: Perfect game for those three, in particular Tolvenh, Newman and
- 23:53Speaker 4: Marchman to really make a statement in this game five
- 23:57Speaker 4: of the year.
- 23:57Speaker 5: Well, you know what all three of those guys have
- 23:59Speaker 5: in common, Mark, tolvid and Newman net front press.
- 24:03Speaker 2: They're all big bodies.
- 24:04Speaker 5: They can all play physical the corners and the front
- 24:07Speaker 5: of the net, but the front of the net specifically,
- 24:09Speaker 5: and let's be honest, that's where those greasy goals come.
- 24:11Speaker 5: That's where Newman got his last goal was off his
- 24:14Speaker 5: footing in because he went to the front of the net.
- 24:16Speaker 5: Mason markfan goes to the front of that You got
- 24:18Speaker 5: a tip in earlier in this season, told it's got
- 24:20Speaker 5: that big shot. Get into that house area, either with
- 24:22Speaker 5: the puck or without it. Without it and you'll find goals.
- 24:25Speaker 2: You know.
- 24:25Speaker 4: Al Going back to Wednesday, this potentially could be the
- 24:30Speaker 4: fourth of six days or five days in a row
- 24:35Speaker 4: of Seattle versus Toronto. Yes, right, you had the Mariners
- 24:40Speaker 4: in Jay's Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, you got the Kraken and Leafs.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Tonight there's four.
- 24:46Speaker 4: Yeah, you got Jay's Mariners tomorrow potentially game seven on Monday.
- 24:51Speaker 4: So yeah, seven days in a row potentially of Seattle
- 24:55Speaker 4: the Toronto. What about those Mariners and now the Kraken.
- 24:59Speaker 4: Here in Ronald, the center of the hockey universe. On
- 25:02Speaker 4: Hockey Night in Canada, the story rights itself. Seattle dolled
- 25:06Speaker 4: out a big dose of pain last night in the
- 25:09Speaker 4: baseball Diamond, trying to do the same yere tonight on
- 25:12Speaker 4: the Hockey Round.
- 25:12Speaker 5: You and I had the pleasure of joining the fans
- 25:15Speaker 5: over at the loose Moose actually did last night, and
- 25:18Speaker 5: we were very respectful, of course, until things started to
- 25:21Speaker 5: turn our way, and then we were belligerent. I mean
- 25:25Speaker 5: we cheered. Every time we cheered on the Grand Slam,
- 25:29Speaker 5: people did not like us.
- 25:30Speaker 2: I I I fooled a couple of Jays fans.
- 25:33Speaker 4: Alejandro kurtk was running around the basis, and if you
- 25:36Speaker 4: watch baseball, you know he's a big boy. He's a
- 25:38Speaker 4: thick boy, not unlike myself, and I love it when
- 25:41Speaker 4: the big men get on their horse and he's trudging
- 25:44Speaker 4: it around. And I was actively cheering for the big man.
- 25:48Speaker 4: And then when the Maritors hit their home runs, I
- 25:50Speaker 4: got up. I cheered the table behind me.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Wait a minute, I thought you were a Jays fan.
- 25:56Speaker 4: And then, not unlike Superman, I unbuttoned my shirt, revealed
- 25:59Speaker 4: my nice Teal Mariner's shirt underneath it, and they were like,
- 26:03Speaker 4: oh yeah.
- 26:04Speaker 5: The fans were very respectful to us, and we appreciated
- 26:06Speaker 5: them allowing us into their building to watch some baseball
- 26:10Speaker 5: last night. But yes, we were cheering hard for the Mariners.
- 26:12Speaker 5: You know who we appreciate, Oh, absolutely, Mike bet Mike Benton,
- 26:16Speaker 5: Mike Benton, we appreciate the heck out of some Mike Benton.

- 29:00Speaker 11: standing by right here. What ever fits you.
- 29:02Speaker 4: We're back with Cracking head coach Lane Lambert.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Lane.
- 29:05Speaker 4: You get a point in Ottawa a couple of nights ago.
- 29:08Speaker 4: Two points on this road trip. Two pretty good efforts
- 29:10Speaker 4: as well so far. Take us through that game against
- 29:13Speaker 4: the Otawa Seditors.
- 29:14Speaker 22: I thought probably that was our best game of the season.
- 29:18Speaker 22: You know, we thought we controlled the play a lot.
- 29:22Speaker 22: I thought we had, you know, many scoring chances. Their
- 29:27Speaker 22: goaltender played well, you know, and we talk about closing
- 29:33Speaker 22: out games, and you know, that's two in a row
- 29:37Speaker 22: that we haven't.
- 29:37Speaker 8: Been able to close out.
- 29:38Speaker 22: It's a killer instinct type of situation that we have
- 29:42Speaker 22: to establish understand.
- 29:45Speaker 8: It's a good lesson for us.
- 29:46Speaker 22: And killer instinct isn't always or closing out games isn't
- 29:50Speaker 22: always defending.
- 29:52Speaker 8: I thought we had.
- 29:54Speaker 22: Multiple opportunities to extend our lead and failed to do so.
- 29:58Speaker 22: And at the end of the day, you know, it's
- 30:01Speaker 22: one shot in the back of your net and now
- 30:03Speaker 22: the game's going into overtime and then into a shootout.
- 30:05Speaker 22: So there's different ways to have killer instinct, and one
- 30:09Speaker 22: of them was to bury that team the other night,
- 30:11Speaker 22: and you know, we just have to we just have
- 30:13Speaker 22: to start to learn to understand there's different ways to
- 30:16Speaker 22: do that.
- 30:17Speaker 4: On that same vein, when you see the likes of
- 30:19Speaker 4: you know, Shane Wright, Jared mccannon coming so close, getting
- 30:22Speaker 4: the opportunities but not being able to finish, is that
- 30:25Speaker 4: at least some type of positive for you, knowing that
- 30:28Speaker 4: you can put yourselves in that position and then kind
- 30:31Speaker 4: of going along with that as well. That mindset, is
- 30:34Speaker 4: it something you can work on? Is it a mindset?
- 30:36Speaker 4: How do you work on closing out games, burying those
- 30:40Speaker 4: chances in those moments?
- 30:41Speaker 8: Well, it is. It is a mindset.
- 30:43Speaker 22: There's different ways, like I said, for example, Montreal, it
- 30:46Speaker 22: wasn't like we were getting a ton of chances.
- 30:48Speaker 8: In Montreal.
- 30:48Speaker 22: We came back clutter our way back. That was going
- 30:51Speaker 22: to be a game that we were going to have
- 30:53Speaker 22: to keep the puck out of our net in order
- 30:56Speaker 22: to close that game out. And in those situations there's
- 31:00Speaker 22: you know, getting pucks deep, not turning pucks over, which
- 31:05Speaker 22: you know we did and it ended up coming back
- 31:07Speaker 22: we take a penalty, and so there's just various ways
- 31:10Speaker 22: of you know, closing out the games. To see those
- 31:14Speaker 22: guys get those chances, that's great. It's not like they're
- 31:18Speaker 22: not trying to score, you know. But at the same time,
- 31:22Speaker 22: you know, these are situations. Johanny Neeman has a breakaway
- 31:25Speaker 22: kind of thing, So these are situations where guys, you know,
- 31:28Speaker 22: that's that's part of finishing a team off.
- 31:31Speaker 4: Looking at Toronto here tonight, a couple of players out
- 31:34Speaker 4: of the lineup. Freddie Gudroau as out for four to
- 31:37Speaker 4: six weeks with the upper body. We found out today
- 31:39Speaker 4: Brandon Montour not with the team temporarily because of a
- 31:42Speaker 4: family issue that he's dealing with. It has to be
- 31:45Speaker 4: that next man up mentality. But when you look at
- 31:47Speaker 4: your lineup sheet and you're looking at your matchups. What
- 31:50Speaker 4: goes into replacing, plugging and playing guys that have to
- 31:54Speaker 4: take over for big pieces out of your lineup.
- 31:56Speaker 22: Well, you know, I mean at the end of the day,
- 31:59Speaker 22: those players that you plug in, they have to step up.
- 32:03Speaker 8: You know, it's an opportunity for them. They have to
- 32:05Speaker 8: step up and do the job.
- 32:07Speaker 22: And you know, our team as a whole has to
- 32:11Speaker 22: understand where we're at and we have to you know,
- 32:15Speaker 22: maintain our structure and our discipline and continue to you know,
- 32:19Speaker 22: play the game the right way like we have been doing,
- 32:22Speaker 22: and that gives us an opportunity, you know, usually an
- 32:25Speaker 22: opportunity to win, regardless of you know, who's in, who's out,
- 32:29Speaker 22: whatever it might be. You know, two players that are
- 32:33Speaker 22: important players for us, and you know we've.
- 32:36Speaker 8: Made adjustments and brought people in and filled those roles.
- 32:40Speaker 4: Even though your time here in Toronto was short as
- 32:42Speaker 4: an assistant coach, does it still bring back some good memory,
- 32:46Speaker 4: some fondness? What do you what do you remember about
- 32:48Speaker 4: this place and how does it feel coming back for
- 32:50Speaker 4: the first time as a head coach and you.
- 32:52Speaker 22: Left, Well, yeah, no, it's it doesn't feel too, too
- 32:55Speaker 22: weird because I wasn't here that long, just here for
- 32:58Speaker 22: a year, but certainly was a great experience. The city
- 33:02Speaker 22: of Toronto was a great city to be in. Lived
- 33:05Speaker 22: downtown about ten minute walk from the rank here, you know,
- 33:09Speaker 22: so you know, you see some of the places that
- 33:11Speaker 22: you had maybe gone to or whatever, and you know,
- 33:14Speaker 22: you bring up memories that way.
- 33:17Speaker 8: You know. The organization itself was first class from top
- 33:20Speaker 8: to bottom. Absolutely terrific organization.
- 33:25Speaker 22: You know, the players competed and you know, we ended
- 33:28Speaker 22: unfortunately on it, but it was sour and ope, but
- 33:30Speaker 22: we were very close to having a good chance to
- 33:33Speaker 22: win the Stanley cupyout.
- 33:34Speaker 8: Of last year. So I really cherish and relish.
- 33:37Speaker 22: The time I spent here, you know, and and it
- 33:41Speaker 22: was great. But I'm not here anymore, and we have
- 33:44Speaker 22: to win a hockey game for may.
- 33:45Speaker 4: We know the big hitters, the Matthews, the Kneelanders on
- 33:49Speaker 4: this team, it's almost impossible to stop them. You can
- 33:52Speaker 4: only try to hope to slow them down. You know
- 33:54Speaker 4: them very well as well. What's the game plan tonight
- 33:57Speaker 4: for Seattle? Going up against a team that's got a
- 34:00Speaker 4: couple of good guys who have gotten off some good
- 34:02Speaker 4: offensive starts.
- 34:03Speaker 22: Well, you're right, you know, they're just they're terrific hockey
- 34:06Speaker 22: players and that's that's why they are where they are
- 34:08Speaker 22: who they are, you know, getting paid the way they
- 34:10Speaker 22: get paid. Then you're right, you know you can, you
- 34:15Speaker 22: can do your best to stop them. They're always going
- 34:19Speaker 22: to get opportunities. I say, you know you can. You
- 34:22Speaker 22: can work to contain them, contain their opportunities, and you
- 34:26Speaker 22: know we'll we'll just have to be a solid from
- 34:29Speaker 22: that standpoint as a team and as a group. It's
- 34:31Speaker 22: five men mentality and that's you know, that's how we
- 34:35Speaker 22: are anyways. So this isn't anything new to us.
