- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back into SEC Football Addiction, Cole Thompson here. This
- 0:03Speaker 1: video is brought to you by our friends over at PrizePix,

- 0:08Speaker 1: play their first $ 5 lineup using.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Promo code HMA.
- 0:12Speaker 1: And whatever money you have left in your pocket, I
- 0:14Speaker 1: highly recommend you go to your nearest book, you go
- 0:17Speaker 1: ahead and find someone and say, place all I have
- 0:20Speaker 1: on Missouri to be the surprise team of 2026. Because
- 0:24Speaker 1: ladies and gentlemen, not only have the Tigers entered the
- 0:26Speaker 1: conversation about playing a spoiler role in the SEC, Because
- 0:29Speaker 1: they have some tough matchups ahead. To where there could
- 0:32Speaker 1: be a reason why a team is not going to Atlanta.
- 0:34Speaker 1: A team misses out on the college football playoff entirely.
- 0:37Speaker 1: But after what I saw today. After what I've seen
- 0:39Speaker 1: from this defensive front. What I've seen from the rushing attack.
- 0:42Speaker 1: In a game that everybody said.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Well Texas A & M.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Well, just follow the trend that Mizzou followed last week
- 0:47Speaker 1: when they played against Florida. And Florida followed when they
- 0:49Speaker 1: played against Ole Miss. And Ole Miss followed when they
- 0:52Speaker 1: played against LSU. And LSU followed when they played against Clemson.
- 0:55Speaker 1: They shut the door on all negativity. Mizzou has entered
- 0:59Speaker 1: the college football playoff conversation, in my opinion. And that's
- 1:02Speaker 1: what happens when your defense delivers basically a shutout in
- 1:05Speaker 1: a 27-6 victory over Texas A & M at home.
- 1:08Speaker 1: The Tigers, I think, once again are starting to prove
- 1:10Speaker 1: why this year is going to be different underneath Eli Drinkwitz.
- 1:13Speaker 2: And it's not just because of who they have at quarterback.
- 1:15Speaker 1: But how did this game go? Well, let's break it
- 1:17Speaker 1: all down. Real quickly, like the video, hit the ring notification.
- 1:19Speaker 1: And of course, subscribe to the channel where we talk
- 1:21Speaker 1: college football, SEC football daily. Takeaway number one is that
- 1:25Speaker 1: Jamal Roberts is him. Now, I remember that there were
- 1:28Speaker 1: rumors that potentially he could enter the transfer portal. Eli
- 1:30Speaker 1: Drinkard wasn't going to let that happen. And I get
- 1:32Speaker 1: it from his standpoint. I'm a damn good running back.
- 1:35Speaker 1: I'm potentially the best running back that nobody is talking
- 1:38Speaker 1: about in the country.
- 1:39Speaker 2: And it's for a reason.
- 1:41Speaker 1: I have to split carries with Ahmad Hardy. And that's
- 1:43Speaker 1: not a shot at Ahmad Hardy whatsoever. When he's at
- 1:45Speaker 1: his peak, it's arguably the best running back in the
- 1:47Speaker 1: sport by far. But Jamal Roberts is a damn good
- 1:50Speaker 1: running back. And for most teams, he would be averaging
- 1:53Speaker 1: over 1,000 yards per season, 6.5 yards of play, finding
- 1:57Speaker 1: the end zone 10 to 15 times per year. And unfortunately,
- 2:00Speaker 1: out in Como, he's got to split carries. But then,
- 2:03Speaker 1: of course, the tragedy happens. We don't know when we
- 2:06Speaker 1: are seeing Ahmaud Hardy play this season. But this is
- 2:08Speaker 1: why it's a good plan when you have talented players.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Number one, utilize them.
- 2:15Speaker 1: And number two, and probably more specifically, make sure that
- 2:19Speaker 1: they are properly compensated. Because the second that he signed
- 2:21Speaker 1: on the dotted line, when you lost Ahmaud Hardy for
- 2:24Speaker 1: however long it was going to be, Azu Fancy could.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Try and exhale. And you want to know why? Because
- 2:28Speaker 2: they know what Jamal Roberts can be.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Last week we saw two big breakaway runs of over
- 2:32Speaker 1: 70 plus yards downfield. And you figured, okay, well that
- 2:35Speaker 1: certainly factored in to why his rushing total was so high.
- 2:39Speaker 2: And it did.
- 2:40Speaker 1: How about today? One run of over 50 yards downfield.
- 2:43Speaker 1: And it came in the fourth quarter after a critical
- 2:47Speaker 1: fourth down stop. But you still average 6.5 yards a play.
- 2:51Speaker 1: And for the second straight week, we are talking about
- 2:53Speaker 1: Jamal Roberts. The lead back in the SEC. The guy
- 2:57Speaker 1: who has made everyone realize, well, Ahmad Hardy is good.
- 3:01Speaker 1: I'm no second fiddle. Fishing with 200 rushing yards. Back-to-back
- 3:05Speaker 1: weeks as Mizzou is able to trust its ground game.
- 3:09Speaker 2: That's the big point.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Chip Lindsey has identified when something isn't working for one
- 3:13Speaker 1: side of the football, we are going to go complete 180.
- 3:17Speaker 1: And that's what good offensive coordinators do. Instead of trying
- 3:19Speaker 1: to go be remedial and go back to the wishing
- 3:22Speaker 1: well of saying, here, let's go make this play on
- 3:24Speaker 1: third and fourth down happen. Instead, you pivot to what
- 3:26Speaker 1: is working and you lean into it. And you lean
- 3:28Speaker 1: into it hard. You put your foot down on the
- 3:30Speaker 1: pad and you don't stop. Until you hear the whistle blow.
- 3:34Speaker 1: And that's what Chip Lindsey has done so far. The
- 3:36Speaker 1: rushing attack has been the backbone of this team. And
- 3:39Speaker 1: it's opened up the passing game. When you face off
- 3:41Speaker 1: against Florida's front seven.
- 3:42Speaker 2: And that's secondary. And when today you faced off against
- 3:45Speaker 2: Texas A & M' s front seven. And secondary.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Number two takeaway. And probably my bigger one. Can we
- 3:49Speaker 1: talk about this Mizzou defense? Like Missouri last week. Being
- 3:53Speaker 1: able to shut down Jaden Ball. Beyond impressive in my opinion.
- 3:57Speaker 1: In fact I would say that that was probably the
- 3:59Speaker 1: selling point of where.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:01Speaker 1: You no longer catch my curiosity. You have my attention.
- 4:04Speaker 1: And I believe in Corey Batum. Corey Batum is a
- 4:06Speaker 1: damn good defense coordinator, and he has been remarkable replacing
- 4:09Speaker 1: Blake Baker over the last few years.
- 4:11Speaker 2: But this is a defense that replaced 11 starters.
- 4:14Speaker 1: I mean, I understand that you can certainly have good
- 4:17Speaker 1: talent waiting in the wings, but you're losing all American-type names,
- 4:21Speaker 1: all SEC-type names. Nobody is coming on back. And yet
- 4:25Speaker 1: for a second straight week.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Once again, you say, yeah, that helped us out a lot.
- 4:30Speaker 1: That gave us every advantage that we needed for four
- 4:32Speaker 1: quarters of action to feel content and kind of run
- 4:35Speaker 1: the offense with our game plan. There were some drives
- 4:37Speaker 1: that when you look at Chip Lindsey and Eli Driggers
- 4:39Speaker 1: on the sidelines, they're trying to figure out what to do.
- 4:41Speaker 1: It really didn't matter because they knew that their defense
- 4:44Speaker 1: would bail them out of trouble if they ever caught
- 4:47Speaker 1: themselves in like a third and 19 and were forced
- 4:49Speaker 1: to punt. Because if their defense is playing lights out,
- 4:53Speaker 1: there was a point in this game where Texas A
- 4:55Speaker 1: & M had two first outs.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Going into the fourth quarter.
- 4:58Speaker 1: They had less than 120 total yards of offense, and
- 5:01Speaker 1: they couldn't do a damn thing through the air or
- 5:04Speaker 1: on the ground. Texas A & M was averaging less
- 5:07Speaker 1: than a yard a carry. Texas A & M was
- 5:10Speaker 1: horrendous on third down conversions. They had a win on
- 5:13Speaker 1: second because if they knew if it was third, out
- 5:15Speaker 1: comes the punt team and ball goes right back to
- 5:17Speaker 1: Mizzou with Austin Simmons. And that's a testament to what
- 5:21Speaker 1: you've seen from this linebacking core from this front seven.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Once again, they got after Marcel Reed. They got after
- 5:26Speaker 1: the quarterback. Three sacks in the day, four tackles for loss.
- 5:29Speaker 1: They were able to force a lot of long plays.
- 5:32Speaker 1: They took away the rushing attack. Robert Woodyard played out
- 5:35Speaker 1: of his mind. Nicholas Rodriguez, once again, is doing everything
- 5:38Speaker 1: at the second level of this defense. Santana Banner, Trajan Greco,
- 5:42Speaker 1: Sione Lalu, Jason Dowell, Elijah Dotson, and then you talk
- 5:46Speaker 1: about the secondary making some big plays. How about Chris
- 5:49Speaker 1: Graves breaking up a pass on third down to get
- 5:51Speaker 1: the drive going back in favor.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Of Mizzou's offense?
- 5:54Speaker 1: How about Dante McClellan getting a bat pat down at
- 5:56Speaker 1: the line of scrimmage? How about Bobby Washington making plays
- 5:59Speaker 1: at the line of scrimmage? Those were little things that
- 6:01Speaker 1: carried such an amount of weight to be able to
- 6:04Speaker 1: let the offense kind of figure out what was its
- 6:06Speaker 1: best for them. And when they did, it started to
- 6:09Speaker 1: click immensely. Takeaway number three for Missouri. It wasn't the
- 6:12Speaker 1: best game from Austin Simmons, but also it didn't have
- 6:14Speaker 1: to be. You can still come away pretty impressed with
- 6:16Speaker 1: several of his throws. He had two exceptional passes on
- 6:20Speaker 1: third down, one of which was to Brett Norfleet. I
- 6:22Speaker 1: think the other one was to Caden Lee. And that's
- 6:24Speaker 1: a professional throw. That's a throw to when you're looking
- 6:26Speaker 1: back and you're saying, what got us to this point
- 6:29Speaker 1: when we're sitting at 10-2 and potentially in the college
- 6:31Speaker 1: football playoff race? It's because of throws like that.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Just veteranship.
- 6:36Speaker 1: I think a lot of people didn't realize that just
- 6:37Speaker 1: because you got beat out by Trinidad Chambliss, that's not
- 6:40Speaker 1: an insult.
- 6:40Speaker 2: In fact, for my money, that may end up being.
- 6:43Speaker 1: A pretty big positive for you because to be completely frank,
- 6:47Speaker 1: you realize that you came away with a superstar in
- 6:49Speaker 1: the process. And now, he's the only guy standing in
- 6:53Speaker 1: your way. Again, you had a really bad interception on
- 6:55Speaker 1: the opening drive, batted ball, Damian Sanford gets the pick,
- 6:58Speaker 1: but good news.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Once again, talk about that defense. Kind of bails you
- 7:02Speaker 2: out of trouble.
- 7:03Speaker 1: You're in the red zone, and here comes Marcel Reed
- 7:05Speaker 1: looking to put up points. How about an interception to
- 7:08Speaker 1: go ahead and meet the deal? And by the way,
- 7:10Speaker 1: it's in the end zone, so you don't even have
- 7:11Speaker 1: to start at the one-yard line. You get to go
- 7:13Speaker 1: ahead and get the touchback and bring it all the
- 7:15Speaker 1: way back out to, what, the 25?
- 7:17Speaker 2: The 20? So, I mean, like, come on. How much
- 7:19Speaker 2: more can you want from your defense? And then, when
- 7:22Speaker 2: you need a big-time play.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Here and there, Austin Simmons delivered. No, he didn't throw
- 7:26Speaker 1: for 300 yards, and he only found the end zone
- 7:28Speaker 1: one time. But 14-28... 147 yards, finding a consistency with
- 7:33Speaker 1: Caden Lee, who finished with 94 yards, had the big
- 7:36Speaker 1: 32-yard touchdown to be able to put you on the
- 7:38Speaker 1: board and extend that 3-3 tie and make it in
- 7:41Speaker 1: favor of the Tigers to where they just kind of
- 7:43Speaker 1: went off to the races.
- 7:44Speaker 2: You'll take that.
- 7:46Speaker 1: It's a C performance today from a guy who you
- 7:48Speaker 1: believe in at quarterback, but it's a guy that you
- 7:50Speaker 1: know moving forward can be somebody who, when it's called upon,
- 7:54Speaker 1: Doesn't have to be the hero. He can at certain times,
- 7:57Speaker 1: and there were drives throughout the day where you watched
- 7:59Speaker 1: third down completions, you watched second down big time shots
- 8:01Speaker 1: down the field, where you felt confident that Austin Simmons is.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Somebody that can help you win games. But he doesn't
- 8:07Speaker 2: have to be the only guy to win games.
- 8:09Speaker 1: And largely it's because of what you've seen from a
- 8:10Speaker 1: veteran offensive line that's been playing fantastic once again, did
- 8:15Speaker 1: not give up a sack today. Austin Simmons was clean
- 8:18Speaker 1: for the entire afternoon, which may be a problem for
- 8:20Speaker 1: Texas A & M. But the bottom line is that
- 8:22Speaker 1: you still had a good identity and your quarterback was
- 8:25Speaker 1: able to make plays. And when he needed to, he
- 8:27Speaker 1: stepped on up in immense fashion.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Hey guys, I'll get right back to the video, but

- 9:07Speaker 1: Final takeaway for Texas A & M before we move
- 9:09Speaker 1: on over to, resume before we move on over to
- 9:12Speaker 1: Texas A & M.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Playoff is a reality.
- 9:15Speaker 1: For the first time, it does feel like when you're
- 9:17Speaker 1: sitting at 5-1, you kind of earned your way here.
- 9:20Speaker 1: And that was a negative for years on.
- 9:21Speaker 2: What Mizzou was.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Missouri has not been able to show in the grand scheme,
- 9:25Speaker 1: fair or unfair with their schedule, that they belong in
- 9:28Speaker 1: the college football playoff. Remember they went like 10-2? Nobody
- 9:31Speaker 1: even mentioned them as a possibility because.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Of their schedule.
- 9:35Speaker 1: What did they go 10-2 this year? Well, you have
- 9:37Speaker 1: a trip to Ole Miss next week. What's that game
- 9:39Speaker 1: going to be like? Then you have to go face
- 9:41Speaker 1: off against Texas in your backyard on the 7th. You
- 9:44Speaker 1: gotta go travel down to Sanford Stadium to take on
- 9:46Speaker 1: Georgia on the 14th. And then you close out the
- 9:48Speaker 1: year with games against Kentucky, who may or may not
- 9:50Speaker 1: still be ranked. And Oklahoma, who, bygone, however you feel,
- 9:54Speaker 1: it's a rivalry game. So there's an opportunity to where
- 9:57Speaker 1: you go 10-2 with a one loss coming to a
- 9:59Speaker 1: Georgia team. and if it's close that's a playoff team
- 10:02Speaker 1: you can't go ahead and tell me on one breath
- 10:04Speaker 1: that we will allow a Texas A & M in
- 10:05Speaker 1: last year at 11-1 potentially even 10-2 with their schedule
- 10:10Speaker 1: and then when you have a tougher schedule with games
- 10:12Speaker 1: against a top 10 Ole Miss team against a potential
- 10:16Speaker 1: Top three, Georgia team. A top two, if not the
- 10:20Speaker 1: number one team, Texas. And you pull off one of
- 10:23Speaker 1: those upsets? Very much in the kind of company. I'm
- 10:26Speaker 1: not ready to put Missouri in.
- 10:28Speaker 2: That conversation just yet. But it's a reality. It is
- 10:31Speaker 2: now something that you have to look at.
- 10:32Speaker 1: That rushing attack is not going away quietly. We have
- 10:35Speaker 1: seen the type of plays and the accurate passes from
- 10:38Speaker 1: Austin Simmons time after time after time. And we've seen
- 10:42Speaker 1: these wide receivers be able to win a lot of
- 10:43Speaker 1: one-on-one battles. That can happen in Austin. I mean, that
- 10:46Speaker 1: can happen at home against the Longhorns. That can happen
- 10:49Speaker 1: next week in Oxford. That can happen on.
- 10:51Speaker 2: The road in Athens. All those games are certainly possible.
- 10:53Speaker 2: This offense is a lot of fun.
- 10:55Speaker 1: This offense has an identity to itself, and they know
- 10:57Speaker 1: what works, and they also know how to pivot when
- 10:59Speaker 1: something is not going right, which is the ultimate sign
- 11:01Speaker 1: of a veteran team that's able to take on the mantle.
- 11:03Speaker 1: This year does feel different out in Como. I'm ready
- 11:06Speaker 1: to start believing, and you should too, that Mizzou at
- 11:08Speaker 1: least has entered the conversation of, of being a college
- 11:11Speaker 1: football playoff dark horse. You don't have to go ahead
- 11:13Speaker 1: and put them in the playoff yet, but if you
- 11:15Speaker 1: want to say that they at least, you can start
- 11:17Speaker 1: knocking on the door, you can start hearing whispers of, hey,
- 11:21Speaker 1: Mizzou playoff team.
- 11:22Speaker 2: It's actually real. It isn't that bad.
- 11:24Speaker 1: As for Texas A & M, the writing is on
- 11:27Speaker 1: the wall that this season's done. Now, I don't know
- 11:29Speaker 1: if you will be bowl eligible. I don't know if
- 11:31Speaker 1: seven and five is a possibility. I don't know if
- 11:33Speaker 1: it's going to be a six and six year, but
- 11:35Speaker 1: the reality is that your defense played a phenomenal game
- 11:37Speaker 1: for about three and a half quarters. They had six
- 11:40Speaker 1: tackles for loss on Jamal Roberts. They had some big
- 11:43Speaker 1: breakaway runs. He was able to get his hits. I'm
- 11:44Speaker 1: not going to take that away. But you were able
- 11:46Speaker 1: to force an interception inside the red zone. You were
- 11:49Speaker 1: able to have short field positions. And you finished with
- 11:52Speaker 1: two first downs all the way up until you get
- 11:55Speaker 1: into the fourth quarter. You defense can only do so
- 11:57Speaker 1: much for the damn breaks. Today's defense was actually a
- 12:00Speaker 1: promising sign, I think, in the grand scheme of what
- 12:03Speaker 1: you want to see from a Mike Elko unit. They
- 12:05Speaker 1: got pressure. They were able to get in the backfield.
- 12:06Speaker 1: They were able to force a couple of pass breakups.
- 12:08Speaker 1: They were able to play really well and consistent at the.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Line of scrimmage.
- 12:13Speaker 1: But sometimes if you don't have a counterpunch, it doesn't matter.
- 12:16Speaker 1: And today was that day where you needed a counterpunch
- 12:19Speaker 1: from your offense to do something, anything, and it wasn't working.
- 12:23Speaker 1: And it starts with the quarterback. Marcel Reed's playing scared.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Marcel Reed is at this point a liability to putting
- 12:29Speaker 1: up points for your offense.
- 12:31Speaker 2: He is.
- 12:32Speaker 1: And it could be because of bad offensive line playing.
- 12:34Speaker 1: It could be because of a lack of a run game.
- 12:36Speaker 1: It could be for a lot of different reasons out there.
- 12:38Speaker 1: But part of the problem is under center. Whether it
- 12:41Speaker 1: be the mental processing, whether it be trying to throw
- 12:43Speaker 1: in a double coverage, whether it be trying to do
- 12:45Speaker 1: too much of the line of scrimmage and being erratic
- 12:48Speaker 1: and mixing up plays here and there, it's become an issue.
- 12:52Speaker 1: When you aren't able to convert on third down, when
- 12:54Speaker 1: you only have two first downs through 40 plus minutes
- 12:57Speaker 1: of action, who else do you blame at that point? Yeah,
- 13:00Speaker 1: you can give credit where credit's due to Mizzou and
- 13:02Speaker 1: certainly you should, but But it's not as if Missouri
- 13:05Speaker 1: didn't give you opportunities. How many overthrown balls did we
- 13:08Speaker 1: see today from Marcel Reed? How many bad pass, how
- 13:12Speaker 1: many bad completions did we see from Marcel Reed today?
- 13:15Speaker 1: How many bad times did we see a clean pocket
- 13:17Speaker 1: and you just weren't able to connect at the right time?
- 13:19Speaker 1: You couldn't pull the trigger fast enough. Your mental processing
- 13:22Speaker 1: was erratic at best. And that's where we are now
- 13:25Speaker 1: when it comes to the quarterback position.
- 13:27Speaker 2: But I want to make this clear. It's not all
- 13:28Speaker 2: on Marcel Reed. You got to make that catch if
- 13:31Speaker 2: you're Aston Bethel Roman.
- 13:32Speaker 1: There's two interceptions on the day for Marcel Reed's name,
- 13:35Speaker 1: and certainly one you can absolutely.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Put on his shoulders. But another one you have to
- 13:39Speaker 2: put on Ashley Bethel-Romans. Ball hits your hands. What more
- 13:42Speaker 2: can you do? Cling pocket. You have plays. And you
- 13:46Speaker 2: can't step up there. The offensive line. You're not good.
- 13:49Speaker 2: And it's been a problem.
- 13:51Speaker 1: And a lot of people going into this year said, well,
- 13:53Speaker 1: when we add in a bunch of SEC players who
- 13:55Speaker 1: have experience playing against this competition.
- 13:57Speaker 2: It should be an easy fix.
- 13:59Speaker 1: And I was one of the very few people to say, guys,
- 14:01Speaker 1: just because they've added in a bunch of ingredients doesn't
- 14:04Speaker 1: mean I'm getting a Michelin star dinner.
- 14:06Speaker 2: And that's kind of what you have right now.
- 14:08Speaker 1: The one question I always ask people when they say,
- 14:10Speaker 1: we got an offensive lineman from an SEC school, is
- 14:13Speaker 1: not why are you excited? It's do you know why
- 14:15Speaker 1: that player is no longer with that SEC school? Because
- 14:18Speaker 1: an SEC play, your offensive and defensive lineman should be
- 14:23Speaker 1: a premium. They should be like having an A5 Wagyu steak.
- 14:27Speaker 1: It should be an elite level of eclectic taste. And
- 14:31Speaker 1: the problem is that if you're getting that on the market,
- 14:35Speaker 1: there's a reason. Because they were probably let out of
- 14:37Speaker 1: their NIL deal. You don't let the players that you
- 14:40Speaker 1: know are going to be difference makers and anchors for
- 14:42Speaker 1: your team walk to another program.
- 14:45Speaker 2: You don't let those guys leave the building.
- 14:47Speaker 1: You go to your NIL profit and say, here's how
- 14:49Speaker 1: much we have to pay them. I don't care if
- 14:51Speaker 1: I have to take a chunk out of my salary.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Make it happen.
- 14:54Speaker 1: So when you lose those guys, and you go just
- 14:56Speaker 1: back portal in a bunch of names, and the younger
- 14:58Speaker 1: guys aren't properly developed, you get the results you had today.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Marcel Reed was only sacked three times, but guys, he
- 15:04Speaker 1: was under duress countless appearances. They took away the rushing attack.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Jamarian Morrow, who I believe is a good running back,
- 15:11Speaker 1: finished with 14 yards. KJ Edwards finished with 20 yards.
- 15:16Speaker 1: They averaged, because of the sack total, less than a
- 15:19Speaker 1: yard of carry. And that's not all on Marcel Reed.
- 15:22Speaker 1: That's also in the play design of Holman Wiggins. There
- 15:24Speaker 1: also were some bad drops today. You had one play
- 15:26Speaker 1: on third down where you just couldn't get Mario Kraber
- 15:29Speaker 1: to go fast enough to make the catch. You had
- 15:31Speaker 1: one play on second down where Ashton Bethel-Roman couldn't bring
- 15:34Speaker 1: in a call and a pass. You had another play
- 15:35Speaker 1: on third down where it was clear that Armstrong couldn't
- 15:38Speaker 1: make a big-time play. And so the targets that were
- 15:40Speaker 1: there were also drops at times. And then your defense
- 15:44Speaker 1: eventually kind of caved. They gave away that big touchdown
- 15:47Speaker 1: play to Caden Lee in the first half. They gave
- 15:49Speaker 1: away that late touchdown run being exhausted to Jamal Roberts
- 15:51Speaker 1: where nobody could catch him, and it became a foot race,
- 15:53Speaker 1: and he hit 200 yards a second time. But your
- 15:56Speaker 1: defense was able to keep you in this game for
- 15:58Speaker 1: a long period, and all you needed was one or
- 16:01Speaker 1: two explosives from your offense, and it wasn't there. And
- 16:04Speaker 1: it's not going to be there the rest of the season.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Texas A & M is no longer looking at Texas
- 16:08Speaker 1: A & M 4. That joke may have sailed. You're
- 16:10Speaker 1: sitting at 1-3 in conference play with losses to Kentucky, LSU,
- 16:13Speaker 1: and Mizzou. You still got Alabama coming on up. South
- 16:16Speaker 1: Carolina has been a house of horrors for you. Oklahoma
- 16:19Speaker 1: is not an easy task with how that defense is playing.
- 16:22Speaker 1: That's automatically three more losses if you look the same pace.
- 16:26Speaker 2: And that includes games against Tennessee. That includes games against Texas.
- 16:31Speaker 2: 7-5 is a possibility. 6-6 is a reality.
- 16:35Speaker 1: 5-7, one year after making the playoff, is on the table.
- 16:38Speaker 1: And so no matter what you do this offseason, it's
- 16:39Speaker 1: abundantly clear that if you aren't turning to Brady Hart
- 16:42Speaker 1: at this point, you probably won't have a quarterback going
- 16:46Speaker 1: into 2027, which means the boosters, the fan base, you're
- 16:50Speaker 1: going to have to funnel out the sums to be
- 16:51Speaker 1: able to afford whoever is on the market to come
- 16:54Speaker 1: on into Kyle Field and take on over this offensive personnel.
- 16:57Speaker 1: And maybe Holman Wiggins will be back for another year.
- 16:59Speaker 1: I wouldn't plan on it. I think there'll be a
- 17:01Speaker 1: ton of coaching. I think there'll be a ton of
- 17:03Speaker 1: staff personnel changes this offseason. Because whatever you see right
- 17:06Speaker 1: now out in College Station that takes the field, representing
- 17:10Speaker 1: the 12th man, it ain't it. it's nowhere near what
- 17:13Speaker 1: the standard should be underneath Mike Elko. Mike Elko's defense
- 17:16Speaker 1: stepped on up in a game to where they really
- 17:18Speaker 1: need to put their foot on the gas, and unfortunately,
- 17:20Speaker 1: on the opposing side, you didn't get that from the
- 17:23Speaker 1: offensive personnel. You could have had one or two explosive plays,
- 17:26Speaker 1: and lo and behold, this game would have turned the corner.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Because you can't just blame penalties. Both teams had five penalties.
- 17:31Speaker 1: You can blame third down conversions to a certain degree,
- 17:33Speaker 1: but you only converted one fewer time than Mizzou.
- 17:36Speaker 2: I mean, let's be real. Missouri in this game finished
- 17:40Speaker 2: with a conversion rate on third down. Of 6-16. You
- 17:45Speaker 2: were 5-18. You were 1-3 on third down. You were
- 17:48Speaker 2: out gained 400-2-16.
- 17:49Speaker 1: That says everything I need to know about where this
- 17:52Speaker 1: offense is. And so now you look at where you
- 17:54Speaker 1: are as a program. And you're probably going to have
- 17:56Speaker 1: to make some changes. Mizzou had a hell of a win.
- 17:59Speaker 1: But it also was a horrible loss.
- 18:01Speaker 2: If you're Texas A & M. Because you kind of
- 18:03Speaker 2: realize at this point, this is what our offense is
- 18:04Speaker 2: going to be for the rest of the year. And
- 18:06Speaker 2: it didn't get much better.
- 18:07Speaker 1: But let me know in the comment section, what did
- 18:09Speaker 1: you make of today's game? Are you starting to buy
- 18:11Speaker 1: hope into Mizzou to potentially be a college football.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Playoff dark horse?
