Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Donad tomorrow out of Australia.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Donna, good morning, Good morning to you.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Now Albow's got a real spring in this step. Obviously
- 0:06Speaker 1: back in Canberra and had a chat with Trump. How'd
- 0:08Speaker 1: that go?
- 0:10Speaker 2: Yes, he's confirmed he had a warm and positive convers
- 0:13Speaker 2: with the US President. Now we know about the weekend's
- 0:16Speaker 2: crushing election win for labor and he's had congratulatory calls
- 0:20Speaker 2: from quite by the way, and he had this chat
- 0:26Speaker 2: with Trump and he said they talked about orcast and
- 0:29Speaker 2: they talked about tariffs, and he said, we'll continue to
- 0:32Speaker 2: engage with each other and perhaps even engage each other
- 0:36Speaker 2: with each other on a face to face basis at
- 0:38Speaker 2: some time in the future. Now we're thinking that's probably
- 0:40Speaker 2: going to be at the G seven in Canada in June.
- 0:43Speaker 2: So Albo said it was a very warm chat and
- 0:45Speaker 2: he thanked him for reaching out in such a positive way.
- 0:47Speaker 2: What we did think was very interesting was earlier Trump
- 0:51Speaker 2: had praised his relationship with Albanize. He had a chat
- 0:53Speaker 2: with the Sydney Morning Herald and he said, I don't
- 0:57Speaker 2: know anything about the election other than the man one,
- 1:00Speaker 2: and that he's very good. But he also and I quote,
- 1:04Speaker 2: I have no idea who the other person is that
- 1:07Speaker 2: ran against him everyone thought was wildly amusing, and that
- 1:12Speaker 2: is Peter Dutton, who sadly as we know, lost his
- 1:16Speaker 2: Brisbane seat of Dixon sadly for him, of course, after
- 1:19Speaker 2: that stunning election win and he was defeated by a
- 1:22Speaker 2: woman called Ali France, the first person in Australian history
- 1:25Speaker 2: to ouston opposition leader from their own seat.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Now the mushroom murder trial, everyone's watching it. Of course
- 1:31Speaker 1: we're going to hear from the strange husband and some
- 1:33Speaker 1: online friends.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Yes, so we know that Aaron Patterson is charged with
- 1:38Speaker 2: killing three people by serving them a meal containing poisonous mushroom.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Her defense lawyer says the deaths were a tragic accident,
- 1:46Speaker 2: but the ups and downs of Aaron and her estranged husband,
- 1:51Speaker 2: I should say, have come under examination in court. It's
- 1:55Speaker 2: the second week of the trial and the court has
- 1:59Speaker 2: also heard from Facebook friends, this true crime group group
- 2:03Speaker 2: that said that she seemed to really like mushrooms, her
- 2:07Speaker 2: friends have said to the court, and that she shared
- 2:09Speaker 2: pictures of a food dehydrate to this deadly lunch that
- 2:12Speaker 2: she hosted at her home way back in July twenty
- 2:16Speaker 2: twenty three. Also her that her husband was controlling, that
- 2:23Speaker 2: she was in a controlling marriage and co worsive.
- 2:26Speaker 1: That's what she confided to I wont have to leave
- 2:31Speaker 1: it there. I think the lines a bit bared. Donald tomorrow,
- 2:33Speaker 1: our Australia correspondent with us this morning. Met Trial continues
- 2:36Speaker 1: sixth day to day. For more from Early edition with
