The Justice Department is dropping the criminal case against David Huerta, SEIU California’s leader, after prosecutors moved to dismiss charges he was initially slapped with for protesting immigration enforcement. Once a felony obstruction charge, it’s now a misdemeanor — and with Huerta complying with pretrial terms, the case will vanish by month’s end.
