Speaker 1: Remember the outrage over the bureaucrats working from home. Government
• 0:03
Speaker 1: comes in and says, pack your lunch, go back to work.
• 0:05
Speaker 1: Problem is, it's not happening. As you'll know from listening
• 0:08
Speaker 1: to this show, ACC is already staged to back down
• 0:11
Speaker 1: on that. Now MB is doing the same, and to
• 0:14
Speaker 1: her credit Flirfitt Simon's the PSA union has lawyered up
• 0:18
Speaker 1: and successfully argued the workers collective contracts allowed them to
• 0:22
Speaker 1: work from home, so they should keep it. Now the
• 0:24
Speaker 1: policy to restrict working from home is heading for the bin.
• 0:28
Speaker 1: According to MB, some ACC staff only have to be
• 0:31
Speaker 1: in the office two days a week, the equivalent of
• 0:33
Speaker 1: a weekend at the office days off or at home
• 0:36
Speaker 1: are usually Fridays and Mondays. Quite convenient for them, isn't it.

Speaker 1: This is all in spite of the fact that management
• 0:42
Speaker 1: at ACC said staff are less productive and it's a
• 0:46
Speaker 1: culture killer. Now, I don't blame the workers here all
• 0:49
Speaker 1: the union. They're exercising their rights they won at fair
• 0:52
Speaker 1: and square. They didn't even have to get to the
• 0:54
Speaker 1: Employment Relations Authority, so good on them. But for anyone
• 0:57
Speaker 1: who runs a business in the private sector or works
• 0:59
Speaker 1: in way, this sort of stuff makes your blood boil,
• 1:02
Speaker 1: doesn't it. If it's good enough for us, why not them?
• 1:06
Speaker 1: Do they really work as much or efficiently at home?
• 1:09
Speaker 1: And why was this cause written into their collective contracts
• 1:12
Speaker 1: in the first place. Surely, once they expire, the next
• 1:16
Speaker 1: offer of work might just require workers to actually turn
• 1:21
Speaker 1: up for work. For more from Early Edition with Ryan Bridge,
