- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's Mark Simone. Welcome to the bonus segment just
- 0:03Speaker 1: for you podcast listeners. It's going to be a rough
- 0:06Speaker 1: weekend in some place. It's a state of emergency. Florida, Georgia, Alabama.
- 0:11Speaker 1: They came up with this hurricane name. Nobody knows what
- 0:16Speaker 1: the hell this hurricane's name is. It looks like Isaiah
- 0:20Speaker 1: when you first, but it's not really what it is.
- 0:23Speaker 1: It's something. I don't know. Even the governor of Florida, DeSantis,
- 0:28Speaker 1: saying he has no idea what the hell the name is.
- 0:30Speaker 1: He said he's going to call it Isaiah, even though
- 0:32Speaker 1: he knows that's not really the name. Hey, there's a
- 0:36Speaker 1: grand jury that's now investigating Cassidy Hutchinson. You remember January 6th,
- 0:44Speaker 1: there was a January 6th committee and they were trying
- 0:47Speaker 1: to destroy Trump and they were trying to make it
- 0:49Speaker 1: look like it was an insurrection. There was no insurrection.
- 0:53Speaker 1: They've arrested, in that January 6th stuff, 1,200 people. Nobody
- 0:58Speaker 1: was charged with insurrection. They filed. You remember with each person,
- 1:01Speaker 1: they hit them with every charge they could hit them with, trespassing,
- 1:04Speaker 1: disorderly conduct, disrupting a government meeting. They hit them with
- 1:10Speaker 1: everything they could hit them with. Nobody there was charged
- 1:13Speaker 1: with insurrection. And then they came up with all these myths,
- 1:17Speaker 1: these fake stories. You remember there was one about Trump
- 1:21Speaker 1: in the presidential limousine. He jumped into the front seat.
- 1:24Speaker 1: He tried to take the steering wheel. He tried to
- 1:27Speaker 1: take control. But none of this was true. So the
- 1:30Speaker 1: star witness in all that was Cassidy Hutchinson. And all
- 1:35Speaker 1: these stories turned out to be false. You know, when
- 1:38Speaker 1: you're the president, you're in the presidential limousine. There's two,
- 1:41Speaker 1: three Secret Service guys in the car. There's 12 Secret
- 1:44Speaker 1: Service guys looking in the window. There's a lot of witnesses.
- 1:46Speaker 1: And they all testified. This never happened, this crazy story
- 1:50Speaker 1: she's telling. So the Department of Justice is now running
- 1:54Speaker 1: an investigation into her. They just launched it. They formed
- 1:57Speaker 1: a grand jury. They could get her on all kinds
- 2:00Speaker 1: of stuff here, perjury. But she had this crazy story that,
- 2:05Speaker 1: and she testified in a, you know, remember they did
- 2:07Speaker 1: these TV hearings trying to screw up Trump. It was
- 2:10Speaker 1: in summer of 2022 that he jumped into the front seat.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Take me to the Capitol now. He lunged at the
- 2:18Speaker 1: wheel of what's known as the beast. Besides all the
- 2:24Speaker 1: witnesses saying this never happened, they also pointed out you
- 2:26Speaker 1: can't lunge into the front seat. There's a partition. There's glass.
- 2:31Speaker 1: It's bulletproof. Nobody can get to the front seat. You
- 2:33Speaker 1: can't even open the driver's door and take it. It
- 2:36Speaker 1: doesn't open from the outside. The driver himself in an
- 2:41Speaker 1: interview with the committee said, said this never happened. There
- 2:44Speaker 1: was nothing like this. He said it's not even possible
- 2:46Speaker 1: to get into the front seat of the beast. You know,
- 2:50Speaker 1: she also testified in the same hearing. There was another
- 2:52Speaker 1: story about he was so furious that Bill Barr wasn't
- 2:57Speaker 1: going to do what he wanted. He threw a ketchup
- 2:59Speaker 1: bottle at the wall and it smashed and ketchup was
- 3:02Speaker 1: everywhere and that she had to clean it up. Well,
- 3:05Speaker 1: everybody in the room said this never happened. Trump even said,
- 3:10Speaker 1: I don't even barely know this woman. Even if it happened,
- 3:13Speaker 1: why would I, why would she be cleaning up the catch?
- 3:17Speaker 1: So look for her to get indicted pretty soon. Hey,
- 3:23Speaker 1: all these big AI geniuses, all these tech CEOs, they're
- 3:27Speaker 1: all telling you that AI is going to kill you,
- 3:29Speaker 1: wipe you out. That'll be the end of civilization. Well, okay.
- 3:32Speaker 1: But before that, before it kills us all, apparently it's
- 3:37Speaker 1: going to be pretty good. Jeff Bezos said, says that
- 3:41Speaker 1: AI will transform your work week. AI is going to
- 3:45Speaker 1: create such amazing productivity that you'll be maybe working four
- 3:52Speaker 1: days a week, and for families, you'll only need one income.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Things are going to become much, much, much more efficient.
- 4:00Speaker 1: He says it'll create double-digit productivity gains around the economy. And, oh,
- 4:06Speaker 1: it's going to take everybody's job? No, not really. He
- 4:09Speaker 1: said it's actually going to be tough to hire people
- 4:12Speaker 1: Because the productivity in the economy is going to make
- 4:14Speaker 1: it so that people don't even have to work two
- 4:16Speaker 1: jobs anymore. Listen, he's a pretty smart guy. You know,
- 4:20Speaker 1: they've been talking about that for a while, the four-day
- 4:22Speaker 1: work week. You know, it used to be a six-day
- 4:25Speaker 1: work week. Sunday was the day you rested. You go
- 4:29Speaker 1: back 150 years, everybody works six days a week. They
- 4:32Speaker 1: cut it down to five. A lot of people think
- 4:35Speaker 1: that'll happen. They've experimented it within some countries, four days
- 4:38Speaker 1: a week. So you'd work Monday through Thursday. It's a
- 4:42Speaker 1: pretty good idea. I'm actually all for that. Hey, the
- 4:47Speaker 1: Chrysler Building, it's going to get restored, modernized. The Chrysler Building,
- 4:52Speaker 1: of course, a great landmark of New York. When you
- 4:55Speaker 1: think of the skyscrapers, it was always the Empire State
- 4:57Speaker 1: Building and the Chrysler Building. Well, now if you go
- 5:01Speaker 1: to a billionaire's row, you got these apartment buildings that
- 5:04Speaker 1: are much taller, but it's still a landmark. It's so
- 5:07Speaker 1: Art Deco. But you know, the Chrysler Building is in
- 5:09Speaker 1: Bad shape, really bad shape. It's really crumbling, run down.
- 5:14Speaker 1: It hasn't been taken care of properly. Well, the guys
- 5:17Speaker 1: that own Rockefeller Center, Tishman Spire, in a stunning deal,
- 5:22Speaker 1: they bought the Chrysler buildings, ground lease. They're going to
- 5:25Speaker 1: fix it up. They're going to invest $ 235 million. They're
- 5:29Speaker 1: going to restore it. They're going to modernize it. They're
- 5:32Speaker 1: going to rescue the building from all this neglect. It'll
- 5:35Speaker 1: look great. Hey, you know, in Florida, they got this
- 5:37Speaker 1: supermarket chain. They're not in New York. It's just Florida
- 5:40Speaker 1: called Publix. And Publix is one of the best supermarket
- 5:45Speaker 1: chains in America. They're all over Florida. It's also like
- 5:48Speaker 1: the biggest pharmacy chain. Publix, everybody goes there in Florida.
- 5:53Speaker 1: They're actually shutting down some key stores. Yeah, they're closing locations.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Now they do very well. There's nothing wrong with the business.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Very well-run business. So why do they have to close
- 6:04Speaker 1: some stores? They're saying it's Ozempic. You know, we've been
- 6:09Speaker 1: talking about Ozempic. People are eating a lot less and
- 6:12Speaker 1: that's affected restaurants because when you're on Ozempic, you could
- 6:16Speaker 1: eat whatever you want, but you can't eat a full portion.
- 6:19Speaker 1: You eat just a few bites. So restaurants are starting
- 6:21Speaker 1: to serve Ozempic portions, smaller portions. They even have Ozempic
- 6:26Speaker 1: drinks where there's smaller drinks because you can't even drink
- 6:29Speaker 1: as much on Ozempic. But it's hitting the supermarkets hard
- 6:33Speaker 1: because People can't eat as much. So whatever they buy
- 6:36Speaker 1: in the supermarket, if it used to last three days,
- 6:39Speaker 1: now it's lasting six, seven days. So they're not making
- 6:43Speaker 1: as many trips to the supermarket and they're buying less.
- 6:46Speaker 1: And even Publix, there's no better grocery chain well run.
- 6:49Speaker 1: It's affecting them. So they're closing down some stores. You'll
- 6:53Speaker 1: see that happen in New York too. Same thing. Hey,
- 6:57Speaker 1: there's this clothing designer, women's fashion, Francis Valentine. They got
- 7:02Speaker 1: some really nice stores. uh, they're announcing a new collaboration.
- 7:08Speaker 1: It's going to be a whole new fashion line for women.
- 7:10Speaker 1: It's going to be the Mary Tyler Moore line. It's
- 7:13Speaker 1: based on the characters in the Mary Tyler Moore show.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Now I walked by one of their Francis Valentine stores.
- 7:20Speaker 1: It was Madison Avenue somewhere up around, uh, I think
- 7:24Speaker 1: it was in the sixties or seventies, but I'm walking
- 7:27Speaker 1: by the store. They got the Mary Tyler Moore show
- 7:29Speaker 1: logo in the window. And, uh, people behind this, they said, uh,
- 7:35Speaker 1: She said, when I was young, I wanted to be Mary.
- 7:38Speaker 1: So they contacted Mary Tyler Moore. Mary Tyler Moore is
- 7:40Speaker 1: no longer with us, but the husband, Dr. Robert Levine, is.
- 7:43Speaker 1: So they worked with him. He's involved in this. They
- 7:47Speaker 1: got 14 ready-to-wear styles based on Mary Tyler Moore's clothes
- 7:52Speaker 1: on the show. Turtlenecks, jumpers, peacoats. I think there's some
- 7:56Speaker 1: Rota clothes, too. Hey, they're even going to have those
- 7:59Speaker 1: famous pants Mary Tyler Moore wore wore on the Dick
- 8:03Speaker 1: Van Dyke show. You remember those, what do they call them?
- 8:04Speaker 1: Capri pants, those cigarette pants. So this is a fascinating
- 8:09Speaker 1: thing if this catches on. If this really works, you'll
- 8:13Speaker 1: see them. Other fashion companies will go back and do
- 8:17Speaker 1: the old TV show characters. They'll do their clothes. Yeah,
- 8:21Speaker 1: so there'll be, you know, Dynasty clothes. There'll be Dallas clothes.
- 8:25Speaker 1: There'll be Cheers clothes. You can dress like Norm. There'll
- 8:30Speaker 1: be I Love Lucy clothes. If you're a guy, you
- 8:32Speaker 1: can get those Fred Mertz pants where the belt comes
- 8:35Speaker 1: all the way up to your chest. You remember those
- 8:37Speaker 1: Fred Mertz pants? You're going to see more of this
- 8:39Speaker 1: if it works, if it catches on. If Trump loses
- 8:44Speaker 1: the midterms, everybody keeps saying Democrats will impeach him every week.
- 8:48Speaker 1: There'll be nonstop impeachment hearings. James Carville warning Democrats, don't
- 8:54Speaker 1: start doing that. Carville says it's not that Trump doesn't
- 8:58Speaker 1: deserve it. But it's going to be a distraction. You're
- 9:02Speaker 1: going to be a distraction from getting anything done. Well, Carville,
- 9:07Speaker 1: common sense, old-fashioned Democrat, but he's a guy from the past.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Jaguar now coming out with an electric vehicle. You know,
- 9:17Speaker 1: it's one thing for a Tesla electric vehicle, but the
- 9:20Speaker 1: great racing cars, sports cars, the idea of a Jaguar
- 9:25Speaker 1: was that roar of the engine. Same thing with BMW,
- 9:29Speaker 1: although they probably make some of the best electric cars.
- 9:31Speaker 1: But a BMW M5, that sound. When an electric car,
- 9:37Speaker 1: all you hear is, that's it. That's the sound they make.
- 9:41Speaker 1: No sound at all. And Jaguar should be careful. Remember
- 9:44Speaker 1: they did that woke rebrand and it almost destroyed the company?
- 9:48Speaker 1: They're still recovering from that. I don't know. I'd stay
- 9:52Speaker 1: away from this electric vehicle for a while. Hey, best
- 9:54Speaker 1: story of the week, NFL suspensions. Yeah, they suspended some people, NFL.
- 9:59Speaker 1: The reason it's the best story of the week. It
- 10:01Speaker 1: was two referees. It wasn't players. This is great to
- 10:05Speaker 1: see for once. Two refs got suspended for unprofessional conduct.
- 10:11Speaker 1: I don't know. One of them just lost his cool.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Started cursing at the player. The F word over and over.
- 10:17Speaker 1: You can see the video. He's yelling the F word in.
- 10:20Speaker 1: He got suspended for unprofessional conduct. Now, one of these
- 10:24Speaker 1: guys was accidentally knocked down in a collision. You know,
- 10:26Speaker 1: sometimes they're in the wrong place and the play is
- 10:28Speaker 1: coming right at him. Players hit him, knock him down. Well,
- 10:31Speaker 1: the player tried to help him up. He would have
- 10:33Speaker 1: no part of it. Anyway, two refs suspended for unprofessional conduct.
- 10:40Speaker 1: We like to see umpires, refs getting suspended. That's great. Hey,
- 10:43Speaker 1: speaking of AI, you know, a lot of people used
- 10:47Speaker 1: to have to call a travel agent or something if
- 10:48Speaker 1: you needed help. A lot of people are using AI
- 10:51Speaker 1: to plan their vacation, to be their travel agent. Now,
- 10:55Speaker 1: the only problem is you got to remember anything AI
- 10:57Speaker 1: is going to be wrong 35% of the time. AI
- 11:01Speaker 1: gets a lot of stuff wrong. A lot of, you know,
- 11:05Speaker 1: sometimes I AI my name and it starts telling all
- 11:08Speaker 1: sorts of stuff about me. Half of it is absolutely
- 11:10Speaker 1: not true. Totally, totally inaccurate. But people using AI to
- 11:15Speaker 1: plan their vacations are getting all kinds of problems because
- 11:19Speaker 1: One of them was going on a trip. He used AI,
- 11:25Speaker 1: and it said you don't need a visa for this country.
- 11:27Speaker 1: And we got there. It turned out it was totally wrong.
- 11:30Speaker 1: One of them told him, this guy's Russian. He said,
- 11:34Speaker 1: if you have a Russian passport, you don't need a
- 11:36Speaker 1: visa here. It was totally wrong. Turned up at the
- 11:39Speaker 1: airport and had to turn around. He couldn't travel. 43%. 43%.
- 11:48Speaker 1: of AI generated in itineraries had mistakes in them. Some
- 11:53Speaker 1: even booked hotels that didn't exist anymore that had been closed.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Some took the people to train stations that didn't exist.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Let me give you that number again. 43% of AI
- 12:05Speaker 1: travel itineraries had big mistakes in them. So it's great
- 12:09Speaker 1: for travel agents. It's helping their business. It's getting people
- 12:12Speaker 1: back to using the travel agents. Michael Douglas says, Well,
- 12:18Speaker 1: he's really pushing that book like crazy, this Michael Douglas book.
- 12:21Speaker 1: He admits to all kinds of things. With the movie
- 12:25Speaker 1: Basic Instinct, everybody thought he was having an affair with
- 12:28Speaker 1: Sharon Stone. Well, who wouldn't? But he said, no, no, nothing.
- 12:34Speaker 1: It was Jean Triplehorn he was madly in love with.
- 12:37Speaker 1: He fell so madly in love with her, they started
- 12:39Speaker 1: having an affair. He said he fell so hard for her.
- 12:43Speaker 1: The 20-year age difference, he said, I was ready to
- 12:46Speaker 1: leave my wife for Jean I was so crazy about her.
- 12:49Speaker 1: He went on to say his relationship with Jean lasted
- 12:53Speaker 1: through the production. Then we went our separate ways. He
- 12:56Speaker 1: was so in love he was going to leave his wife.
- 12:58Speaker 1: That's the way it is. By the way, every movie set,
- 13:01Speaker 1: the leading man is always sleeping with the leading woman. 98%
- 13:05Speaker 1: of the movies. And they're madly in love. But then
- 13:09Speaker 1: the movie's over and they're done with each other. A
- 13:13Speaker 1: lot of times they're on location somewhere. Or even if
- 13:15Speaker 1: it's just the movie studio, every day. You know, when
- 13:17Speaker 1: you're a movie star, you do your scene, then you
- 13:20Speaker 1: got to go wait in the trailer for three hours,
- 13:22Speaker 1: a couple of times a day. So that's where these
- 13:25Speaker 1: affairs happen, but it's quite a book. Anyway, we're out
- 13:29Speaker 1: of time. This has been the bonus segment of the podcast.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Thanks for listening. Don't forget I'm on now three hours,
- 13:35Speaker 1: nine to noon every day. And we really thank you
- 13:38Speaker 1: for being a loyal podcast listener. Really appreciate it. Thanks
- 13:42Speaker 1: for listening. Take care. See you Monday.
