- 0:02This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me, covering One Piece
- 0:11episodes four eighteen and four nineteen. The crewmates Whereabouts Weather Science and Karakuri Island
- 0:22and the crewmates Whereabouts the Island of Giant Birds and the Pink Paradise. In
- 0:31these episodes, we really it is a vast variety of wonderful and terrible going
- 0:41on in these episodes. Kids, What is what? Welcome to spoil Me.
- 1:10Welcome to the show everyone. I am Natasha. Thank you very much
- 1:14to Gabriella for commissioning this episode. What's up Gabriella? You guys, I
- 1:19just want to like remind all of you that in a few weeks, it's
- 1:23going to be in the first or second week of October. Second week of
- 1:29October, I am going to be starting the One Piece live action. So
- 1:34there's going to be a break in One Piece animated coverage during that time because
- 1:41it was a pre booking and that took up a bunch of slots, and
- 1:45there was not like I had enough already pre booked that I could not do
- 1:51another pre booking of One Piece, so I had to wait until afterward.
- 1:59And Sarahim is saying sorry, I missed the last few lives. Oda is
- 2:05flexing his character work, introducing a character by literally kicking a kitten, then
- 2:08a few episode episodes later, making you want to hug her and tell her
- 2:12it'll be okay as you learn her backstory. Yeah, it's such a weird
- 2:15thing because I'm like, look, I can, I can sympathize, but
- 2:19also that does not excuse you kicking a kick kitten, ma'am. I was
- 2:23really hoping that we weren't going to go back to that, but then she
- 2:24goes and kicks another kitten again, like very soon after. But yeah,
- 2:30this episode mostly deals with where our friends have gone, but we haven't seen
- 2:36everybody yet. The first episode is Nami and Frankie. I keep wanting to
- 2:47say, Freddy, I don't know where that's coming from. And then the
- 2:51second one is Sanji and Chopper, so we still have not seen Robin us
- 3:01up Brook or Zoro. And this is sort of interesting because, like,
- 3:13due to where Nami and Frankie end up, I was sort of feeling at
- 3:20first, like, oh, so they got sent to islands that have something
- 3:24to do with what their specialty is and what their interest is, because you
- 3:30know, Nami winds up on an island that studies the weather. It's a
- 3:34sky island, which is going to be extremely inconvenient, but you know,
- 3:38it's just something that she's actually made a weapon out of. And Frankie is
- 3:45on mechanics Island, which as a cyborg, is great for him, I
- 3:51would think. But neither of them expresses the kind of interest in what's going
- 3:59on on those islands the way that I was expecting. I thought they would
- 4:03be more like engaged and be like, oh, tell me more about what
- 4:08you do here, but they don't ask, really. And then what happens
- 4:13with Sanji and Chopper, I don't know what to think about, Like that
- 4:21doesn't feel at all related to where they would want to be, Like Sanji's
- 4:26feels like it's related to where he would ideally want to be in a sort
- 4:30of like inversion of your wish in a monkey's paw sort of sense. But
- 4:39with Chopper, I don't see the connection at all at all. So I
- 4:45guess I don't know. I guess we'll see. So let's start from the
- 4:49beginning here. Thankfully, Sanji is the last of the four, and he's
- 4:55the one I want to talk about the least so that works out pretty well
- 4:59for me. But we do check in with Lufy at the very beginning of
- 5:04both of these episodes. Excuse me, you guys, it's so weird.
- 5:10I don't feel sneeze is coming. They just sneak up on me out of
- 5:15nowhere. It's always startles me. But the whole thing, like with with
- 5:25Boa Hancock, is really funny because she is having this thing where she's imagining
- 5:32what Lufy would be like if he were more romantic. I think she's taking
- 5:41it for granted that he's interested in her, but like she thinks maybe he's
- 5:46playing hard to get or being restrained about it or something. It's unclear to
- 5:51me how much she really thinks he is interested and how much she kind of
- 5:58knows he isn't, And it is just fantasizing for her own fun. But
- 6:02it's the first of these two episodes starts with her with him waking up from
- 6:09a dream about seeing all of his friends disappear, and she says, surely
- 6:15there's something I can say to raise his spirits, and she kind of looks
- 6:19at the ground and then everything becomes a little bit like what's the word I
- 6:25want? It's all sort of like dreamy and out of focus, and she
- 6:30says something about how you have to trust that your friends can look after themselves
- 6:34and have faith in them. Don't worry so much about them. Even though
- 6:40you were separated from your crew, you have never been alone. I'm right
- 6:44here to comfort you if you need me. And it's a real like I've
- 6:50been so foolish, Hancock. All this time I was with an angel and
- 6:56had no idea. And it's really funny because, first of all, I
- 7:02don't feel like we've seen anybody crushing on Lufy before, so this is all
- 7:06real new. Secondly, the way that they're animating the moments are I had
- 7:15thought they would take the same sort of tone as when Sanji is fantasizing,
- 7:20but it seems much more serious somehow, like they're kind of doing an imitation
- 7:30of another type of anime specifically. And I also like guys, when I'm
- 7:36I'm watching Lufy sitting on the couch next to Boa Hancock, it really is
- 7:44uncomfortable. When she is imagining making advances on him, and she looks like
- 7:49she is, you know, thirty, and he looks like he's about thirteen.
- 7:56It's just like I know that he is supposed to be like, what
- 8:00seventeen or so, so we're still in a kind of like weird area.
- 8:05But I think Boa Hancock is only meant to be in her early twenties,
- 8:09so it's still sort of but the way that they are both illustrated it is
- 8:16really does not look good, That's all I'm saying. So yeah, then
- 8:24he's like, we have them in silhouette, and he's they start kissing,
- 8:28and she's like holding her face and her cheeks are turning pink, and she's
- 8:33giggling to herself and squealing, and it's really funny because Lufy has no idea
- 8:39what's going on, and he keeps calling her Hammock and I was just like,
- 8:41this is so disrespectful. Oh my god. So that's what we get
- 8:46with the two of them to start this episode off. And then we cut
- 8:48over to Nami landing, and it's like we're seeing her falling towards the earth
- 8:54at the same time as we are seeing I think the barama or drop if
- 9:00I'm understanding what that tool is, like an air pressure thing, and she
- 9:05hits the ground hard, like it's a really loud noise, and this little
- 9:11old man comes out to see her and this guy like all he needs are
- 9:16stars and moons on his robe and hat. He's got appointed like gnome like
- 9:26sort of hat. It's like a wizard cap and robes. And he brings
- 9:31her inside and when she wakes up, she is in a comfortable bed,
- 9:37and at first it's just like, oh, this is new. But when
- 9:43he pokes his head out and it's like, oh, are you finally awake?
- 9:46He startles her. Now, I would just like to register my disgust
- 9:54with Nami, and I will add a caveat to this in saying that as
- 10:01a woman winding up in the home of a strange man, in a strange
- 10:07bed where you don't know how you got there or what's going on, I
- 10:13understand reacting with trepidation. Nummy is such a total cunt here though, like
- 10:26repeatedly, I don't feel like she ever actually says thank you those words,
- 10:33like she is never actually extending any sort of appreciate you picking me up a
- 10:41total stranger that crashed to the ground, who knows who I could have been,
- 10:46and nursing me back to health two days she was unconscious, and as
- 10:50soon as she comes back to consciousness, she begins to beat the shit out
- 10:56of this guy over nothing, and she keeps telling him to back off,
- 11:01and I'm like, how about you just leave his home? Then? How
- 11:05about you just go outside and don't tell the man who owns this house,
- 11:09who has been trying to help you, to back off when he's doing nothing
- 11:13but checking if you're okay, relax. Like it was just so over the
- 11:20top. It was like. The thing about Nami that I have often liked
- 11:24is the fact that she doesn't She isn't a sweetie, you know, she
- 11:30isn't trying to be likable. She's here to get her shit done. But
- 11:35there's a difference between like not attempting to be likable and being outright aggressive and
- 11:41like rude for no reason, which is what it really feels like is going
- 11:46on here. The first time that she says anything nice to him isn't until
- 11:52almost the end of this scene with her, when he has made her something
- 11:56to eat and she's telling him like it was really good. It takes forever
- 12:01for her to say anything slightly complimentary or warm. And you are in this
- 12:07dude's territory and you don't know anybody else, you don't know where you've wound
- 12:11up it's honestly beyond just being like grateful to somebody who helped you. It's
- 12:18in your best interest to be reasonable from the get go when you are in
- 12:24a location you didn't choose, with people you don't know. It's just the
- 12:30smart thing to do, like be diplomatic, That's all I'm asking. So,
- 12:37yeah, when she wakes up and does the who the heck are you?
- 12:39Where am I? And the translation, so she says, what is
- 12:48this? He says, calm down, you're in my house. I dragged
- 12:52you in here a while. And she says, you did what to me?
- 12:56And really screams at him, and I'm like, what do you?
- 12:58What do you think? Girl? Like, come on, you're in a
- 13:03bed, fully clothed, the house is immaculate, and this this is like
- 13:09an old man who's asking, oh, you're finally awake in a concerned way,
- 13:16what do you what do you think is going on? And she tells
- 13:20him, I'm getting out of your creepy shack, uncalled for. This is
- 13:26a lovely little home. Why are you calling it a creepy shack. She
- 13:30starts to chuck stuff at him. She like throws a picture and when he
- 13:35comes at her again, she throws a bunch of other stuff and says,
- 13:37I said, back off, you freak. What in God's name? Why
- 13:45why are you like this? And she starts to sort of remember some of
- 13:52what happened and to realize, like she has no idea where she is,
- 13:58her position is not awesome right now, so she starts crying. And I
- 14:05love how he says hey, like fifteen times in a row, and finally
- 14:11when she's like, well, what do you want, he's afraid to even
- 14:15come out or say anything because he's got lumps all over his head. Again.
- 14:20She never apologizes for this, She just you know, He's like,
- 14:24are you done? Are you calmed down? And she just says yeah.
- 14:28And I was like, girl, honestly. So this is when they have
- 14:33their food, and he says, you slept for two days, so I'm
- 14:39sure anything would taste amazing right now. You must have been really put through
- 14:43an ordeal. And he shows her this weird rope that I think he calls
- 14:52a wind rope or a wind cord. Hold on, I'm looking for it.
- 14:58This may look like ordinary Europe, but these are in fact tightly wound
- 15:01wind knots. That's what it is. So if he unties one, it's
- 15:05a breeze. If he unties two, it's a strong gust, and if
- 15:09he unties three, it's a gale. And he does all of those,
- 15:15which causes the entire table to go over, and she once again screams at
- 15:20him and hits him. Girl, So yeah, he says, I just
- 15:31thought that would cheer you up, and she says, oh yeah, I'm
- 15:33real cheery. Now I'm out of here. She opens the door and when
- 15:39she goes outside there is a pretty strong storm brewing. At first, she
- 15:43thinks she's gonna be fine, the wind knocks her down. There's like a
- 15:48vase that comes flying or like some sort of planter I don't know, but
- 15:52it's heavy and it comes right toward her and she looks up and she realizes
- 15:58that there is a clone headed their way and tries to go inside and warn
- 16:03him like he doesn't know, which is funny because like this dude just shows
- 16:07you a rope that can make wind do what he wants. I really feel
- 16:14not me, like you should maybe leap to the conclusion that he knows anything
- 16:18about whether already I feel like you know oooh. Gus is saying about Boa
- 16:26and Lufy she's twenty nine and he's seventeen. It Sara fhim says. One
- 16:33thing of note is all these where are the other straw Hat stories were only
- 16:37like two or three single panel coverage cover pages in the manga. The anime
- 16:41took the basic idea and extended them so they can get a bit odder than
- 16:45normal. They are that, Gus says, yeah, each of these episodes
- 16:49were adapted from two pages with no dialogue, just a single subtitle, one
- 16:53page per person. That makes sense because all of this feels like very much
- 17:00like a what's the word I want? Tableau? You know. So she
- 17:07comes inside, she tries to warn him about the cyclone. It's very clear
- 17:11like he knows what's going on, and she is trying to get him to
- 17:15panic, and it's just she's assuming because he isn't reacting the way she wants
- 17:22him to that he just doesn't understand the importance of what she's telling him.
- 17:29So we have a kind of fun moment where she goes into the shower and
- 17:33is like, there's all of these clouds floating about, which did make me
- 17:37sort of think about a sky island, but I didn't think that was where
- 17:41she was. I just didn't think she would have been thrown that far,
- 17:45but I don't know why not. So he says to turn the wheel and
- 17:49hot water will come out, but he doesn't mention how it works exactly.
- 17:53It's like a cloud that comes out first, and then the cloud rains warm
- 18:00water, and then after that, from that same like spot, hot air
- 18:04blows out, which drives her off and drives her hair, which is genius
- 18:11actually, And I completely understand why we don't have that function because water plus
- 18:15electricity in that manner is a bad combo. But oh my god, guys,
- 18:22if I could like just from the same spot in the shower, turn
- 18:27a like warm fan on and dry myself off even part way so that I
- 18:33didn't have to deal with toweling off, that would be so nice. That's
- 18:40like one step away from in the Hunger Games, which I will be covering
- 18:44with Rashwan starting in about a month. By the way, there's a part
- 18:49where she first gets to the capitol and she takes a shower and washes her
- 18:52hair, and there's this thing that she puts both her hands on and a
- 18:56current runs through her and her hair just sort of flares behind her, completely
- 19:00dried and ever since I've read that, it's been like a fantasy for me,
- 19:06because my hair takes ages to dry, and that's part of having coarse,
- 19:11curly hair. It's not even that course, and for other people it
- 19:14takes even longer to dry. But my hair takes at least about a full
- 19:18seven to eight hours to fully dry, air dry, and the idea of
- 19:22having something that would dry it instantly, I mean truly the best. So
- 19:32anyway, he makes some tea and they're sipping it and having like a nice
- 19:36chill moment. And then when she says, why are we so calm?
- 19:40A giant storm is going to wreck this place. Unlike you, I'm too
- 19:45young to die. There's just never a civil word out of her mouth,
- 19:49and this whole little story. So the storm starts to hit. There's all
- 19:57kinds of rattling objects, like beginning to move on the shelves, and he
- 20:03tells her to stay in there and wait, and he walks outside with a
- 20:07sphere of light around him that's clearly protecting him so that he's able to walk
- 20:12with no problem. And she watches him walking away, asks herself, how
- 20:18is he so able to easily walk in this weather? And then instead of
- 20:26again accepting that maybe this man knows about the situation more than you and is
- 20:30capable of coping with it. She decides that she's going to go and take
- 20:36his wind knots and combine them with her climate tack stick and get this whole
- 20:45storm to break up. And it works. It's successful. She is clearly
- 20:52not expecting the rope to be as effective as it is, so when it
- 20:56shoots up and connects and does what she wants it to do, it sort
- 21:02of throws her down for a second. And there's a real like sense of
- 21:07that packed more of a punch than I thought it would. But I really
- 21:12was like that, you he made this really weird rope. You don't think
- 21:21he knows once again, for Christ's sake, like it's just it's the combo
- 21:32of how rude she's being, with how she's not putting any very obvious like
- 21:37one plus ones together, And he mentions finally when she goes back down there
- 21:45after the sky is once again blue, he says, this is a small
- 21:49sky island called Withtheria or Whetheria, and we conduct studies of the weather,
- 21:59and that cyclone looked like it had the possibility of being an intriguing specimen,
- 22:03but it just suddenly up and disappeared on us. Now, I wonder how
- 22:07that could have happened. And he strokes his beard when he says that,
- 22:11but I can't tell if it's because he knows that she did it. I
- 22:17think he does. And I just want to mention that this island is really
- 22:22really cool looking. It's not only a sky island, it's on a bubble,
- 22:27so I don't know if that means that it's like nearer to Sabaode than
- 22:34the other sky islands that we've seen. But there's also like a really there's
- 22:41a round what do you call it, a circular rainbow that's sort of like
- 22:45canted to a diagonal angle, like a jaunty hat draped over the whole thing.
- 22:52I don't know. I just really like this island. I think,
- 22:53out of every place that we have seen so far, the design of this
- 22:57place is the one that's the prettiest overall. So it ends with the narrators.
- 23:07So Nami found herself on a small island in the sky, will she
- 23:11ever be able to find her way back to her friends? And there is
- 23:17the one that we get because the narrator chimes in at the end of all
- 23:21of them. The jump in that we get after Frankie's is my personal favorite,
- 23:27and I almost wanted to like record it and turn it into a ring
- 23:30tone. So we go from there to Frankie's and he has landed on a
- 23:37snow island, which for any of our characters this would be a headache because
- 23:45nobody's really dressed for snow, but Frankie, I think, is the least
- 23:49dressed out of all of them. If I were going to be like pick
- 23:55somebody, I would either pick for Chopper to end up here because he's for
- 24:00or Boat, not Bones. I was gonna call him bones Brook, and
- 24:07that's just because he has no flesh to freeze, so I would assume this
- 24:10would not do anything to him. But there is a kid walking through the
- 24:15snow. His name is Kitten, and he is with a dog that's got
- 24:19like he's got sort of it's like sunglasses, but they almost look like the
- 24:30thing that the dude from Star Trek has over his eyes. I can't remember
- 24:36his name, or like the what's the Cyclops from The X Men wears?
- 24:44It's this is an animal that's got some cyborg qualities. So they see this
- 24:51figure and at first you just see a huge silhouette, and I thought,
- 24:57you guys, that this was child in his like giant form, because he
- 25:03had turned into that huge form, if I'm not mistaken right before he got
- 25:08slapped into next week. I don't know if that if it's supposed to be
- 25:14that he changed while he was like traveling, or if I'm misremembering and he
- 25:19transformed back into his little form before getting slapped. But I really really thought
- 25:25that's who this was, and I was genuinely startled when it turned out to
- 25:29be Frankie and Frankie. It's so funny because the dog who opens his mouth
- 25:37and has two little missiles in there. The dog attacks him, and Frankie
- 25:41goes down because they think that this is like some animal that they're hunting,
- 25:47and then they realize this is just a guy. And this dog fires a
- 25:52couple of missiles, like six of them. So the kid kitten comes up
- 25:56and it's just like, hey man, no hard feelings, are you okay?
- 26:03And he just sits right up and is like yeah, you know,
- 26:07no big deal. And I love this kid just being like wow, he's
- 26:11just gonna walk it off that he got hit with missiles So at this point
- 26:19we get an amazing series of moments. So Frankie is starting to complain that
- 26:27it's quite cold and begin sneezing. So I always wonder about this guy's I
- 26:33am sure that there is science behind this, but like the idea of you'll
- 26:41catch cold from the cold. I like I said, I'm sure there's like
- 26:48some truth to that, but it has always felt like it shouldn't be true
- 26:52to me. So the idea of like, oh, it's cold and so
- 26:56now I'm going to sneeze because I instantly have a cold has always been real
- 27:00weird and I love Kitten says to bandit, steal your pants, and this
- 27:04old guy offers him a fur pelt to put on. Frankie says, I'm
- 27:11trying to maintain a style here that would cramp my reputation as a freak.
- 27:18Oh, I gotta move, man like this, Wow, come on,
- 27:23follow my lead. And he begins to dance, and his dance is a
- 27:30solo performance. For a little while, he instructs them with the same sort
- 27:36of like slide to the left, slide to the right. Once lat now
- 27:41y'all like it's it's a whole thing. And eventually when the camera pulls in
- 27:45and out again. This pair of humans are dancing with him, and the
- 27:51dog is just watching, and then we like zoom in on them and back
- 27:55out again, and then the dog is also participating. And honestly, I
- 28:00would definitely be down for like a Frankie lead sort of Callissenic's program. I
- 28:08would be into it, That's all I'm saying. So yeah, he says,
- 28:15that's how it's done, all right, But then the cold begins to
- 28:22hit him again, and they tell him we're on Mechanical Island what's known as
- 28:30the birthplace of the genius. The what now the genius? And all of
- 28:38a sudden, the who the genius? And he covers with snow, and
- 28:45then when the snow is gone, he is encased in solid ice and they
- 28:52have to transport him to the nearest like hospital slash laboratory in this ice and
- 29:00is the genius the person that we know who made not made made Kuma?
- 29:08Is that the person that's responsible. I can't remember, because there was like
- 29:12a sense of him recognizing that name, but I wasn't able to totally remember
- 29:18everything. Sarah from says, I think you mean a super set of moments.
- 29:25The cold making music is mostly being very cold can impair your immune system.
- 29:30Yeah, that makes sense. So we go. We see all of
- 29:34these surgeons and they're working with like robotic arms as well that are assisting them.
- 29:40But they're talking about how weird it is that Frankie runs on cola and
- 29:45that since they don't have cola, they are going to have to find another
- 29:49fuel source. So our new friends are waiting in like the waiting room outside
- 29:57and the doors open and Frankie comes out, not looking himself at all.
- 30:08He is still paintless. I will say that at the very least that has
- 30:14remained the same. But his hair is combed very neatly and tidily to one
- 30:23side, and he is wearing a like coat that has tails like a It
- 30:32almost looks like a morning jacket, I think is what you would call this
- 30:36from a morning suit, and it is closed in the front like there it's
- 30:42still it's if you saw him from the waist up, well, I was
- 30:48gonna say it would look like he was fully dressed, but he's not wearing
- 30:51a shirt under that coat, and he just has a bowtie despite not having
- 30:56a shirt. So my headcannon now will be that that bowtie is a necklace
- 31:02that he's wearing. But yeah, he's got a British accent. And it
- 31:06turns out that this is a result of him now being fueled by tea,
- 31:15and it's such a weird thing, you guys, because like this is his
- 31:18fuel now, is the tea. But he has no hangups whatsoever about like
- 31:26taking that pot of tea out and pouring a cup for each of them so
- 31:30that they all can have some when that's your fuel, Dude, what are
- 31:40you They just did surgery on you because you ran out of fuel. What
- 31:44are you doing distributing it amongst everybody? Like it's like if I just,
- 31:48like, you know, tapped a vein and poured a cup for everybody,
- 31:52Like what? So they sit and have tea for a little while. Another
- 32:00tea moment between him and Nami. We've got some tea this episode, and
- 32:05the kid finally is just like, I don't like this. You used to
- 32:07be a lot funnier before. I liked you way better the way you were,
- 32:13And he says, what was I like before you were like this?
- 32:15And he does the super pose and I'm like, that's accurate. That is
- 32:22what he was like before. There's a log pause as Frankie SIPs his tea
- 32:29again, and it was honestly very funny. And then he says, you
- 32:32know, lad, that's just a tad embarrassing, and the kid says,
- 32:37we need to get you some cola right away, and that's the end of
- 32:43this little moment here. So once again we get the announcer, and so
- 32:50Frankie became a gentleman on Mechanical Island? Will he ever be a super freak
- 32:55again? I fell out laughing so hard, you guys, Will he ever
- 33:00be a super freak again? Presented as a real problem? That is just
- 33:07gorgeous. I love that so much, Like I really want that sound effect
- 33:16to be a bring tone. Will he ever be a super freak again?
- 33:22Oh my god? Oh I didn't even notice. Yeah, the snow uncovers
- 33:28the name Vega Punk, so that is the person who did Kuma. Okay
- 33:31cool. So this is the start of the second of these two episodes.
- 33:38Hold on, there's people in the chat. Let me go, look,
- 33:43I think some snow fell off a sign at the end. Oh oh,
- 33:45Gus is saying, yeah, I just saw that, yup, yup,
- 33:47yup. So next one we start off once again with Lufy and Boa.
- 33:55I love it. She is so angry that they are not giving her beloved
- 34:00Lufy adequate nourishment. She is like, I have already told you. I
- 34:05think. She says, like a hundred kilos of food is the minimum,
- 34:10which truly they should have an entire separate ship just for supplies, because that's
- 34:15insane. And I just love how's She tosses her head so far back.
- 34:22You guys, I really love this. I don't know what it is.
- 34:28It's just so bonkers looking and it works really well for her, you know,
- 34:37I don't know. This just really gets to me every time I see
- 34:40it. So yeah, bring her another meal to her specifications to replace this
- 34:46one. So then we have her imagining feeding Lufy open wide for me,
- 34:55okay, and of course Lufy simply delectable. And when you're the one feeding
- 35:02it to me, why it makes it all the sweeter. Oh go on,
- 35:09And then we come back to her and she says, clearly, that's
- 35:13exactly what he would say, and I'm just like, girl, you have
- 35:17got to come back to reality. She's off in the corner like giggling to
- 35:21herself, and Lufy is actually sitting there trying to talk to her, and
- 35:24she can't engage because she's so caught up in her own head. And he
- 35:30asked her to come and eat with him, and she's like, oh,
- 35:35I don't really have an appetite. And as she's off to the side,
- 35:37she hears some guys whispering to each other, and it turns out we've got
- 35:42a couple of peeping tom's who are attempting to see in. She opens the
- 35:46door and love Love beams the two of them to stone. I for one
- 35:54cannot fall her. These guys got turned into stone once and got out of
- 36:00it, and they have not learned their lesson. She is very scary and
- 36:07they should really just some men don't learn. Some men just do not learn.
- 36:15So I love When Lufy asks what's going on, she says, it
- 36:21was just two bad mannered rats and I taught them a lesson. I was
- 36:24like, that's that's not not what happened. But it makes it sound so
- 36:30casual, and I'm wondering if Lufy is ever going to start to find fault
- 36:34with her behavior or not, Like I personally, I'm fine with it with
- 36:38this and specifically, but we go we go outside, the guys are like,
- 36:45oh okay, So these two men who have been turned to stone are
- 36:49clearly a warning to not look in her fucking room. And we see Lufy
- 36:53who is contemplating the Viva card from his brother, which is continuing to smold.
- 37:00Then we cut to poor Chopper, who is stumbling around and this,
- 37:07it turns out, is a dream because at first I thought, oh okay,
- 37:15he like we are jumping from him landing in the woods too. He's
- 37:20already woken up, but he, it turns out, is dreaming. So
- 37:25he's yelling out loud about how like, guys, where is everybody? And
- 37:30then he hears a voice say hey, Chopper, and he looks up and
- 37:34there's Lufy, and all of a sudden, everything is better. Once Lufy
- 37:38appears, the whole crew is standing right there, and Chopper starts like sobbing
- 37:44with relief and is just saying, oh my god, I'm so glad everybody
- 37:49is here. And then he wakes up and it's not like Nami waking up
- 37:55in a soft bed in a house with people. It turns out he has
- 38:01landed in this weird bird's nest that has two giant birds in it, and
- 38:08these birds don't really seem to know what to make of him. He assumes
- 38:13initially that they're trying to eat him, which like, why wouldn't you,
- 38:16and they poke at him with their beaks until he wakes. But then when
- 38:22he tries to get away, I was thinking, oh, are they going
- 38:24to do, like these birds mistake him for one of their young sort of
- 38:29thing. But it doesn't seem like that, because the birds eventually begin to
- 38:32just toss him back and forth amongst the two of them, and they sort
- 38:38of treat him like he's a toy, which I think he specifically says,
- 38:44I'm a reindeer, not a toy. But yeah. He tries to run
- 38:47away at one point, and the bird is like edging him towards the edge
- 38:53of this like precipice, which it catches him before he can fall, and
- 39:00he starts yelling to let me go. But then it seems to sort of
- 39:05register and he looks down and realizes that he is hundreds of feet in the
- 39:09air. I think he's on the top of a tree, and it's like
- 39:13the tree. It's a similar thing to like Robin's Island, where there's one
- 39:19enormous tree in the center that dominates the entire island, but the tree itself
- 39:23is big enough to be like a city really on its own. I love
- 39:31the fact that the birds they don't want to eat him, but they do
- 39:35just want to fuck with him. Is somehow really funny to me, honestly,
- 39:39And he calls them really mean at one point. So eventually they just
- 39:45toss him over the side, which would surely have killed him, but he
- 39:50goes plummeting. We see him hit a bunch of branches, rocks and everything
- 39:53on the way down, and I was just like, this poor chopper is
- 39:57being put through it. The birds are up there laughing, and I was
- 40:00like, just so rude. So he's on the ground and once again it's
- 40:07like just passes out, and when he wakes up, he is actually,
- 40:17oh, I lie, he doesn't pass out here. We cut to him
- 40:22walking with like a little walking stick I forgot. Somebody knocks him on the
- 40:25back of the head is what happens, which makes some sense because he's in
- 40:32this really strange place and he's just wandering around calling out to his friends,
- 40:38which I'm not blaming him for, but if you don't know if there are
- 40:42people around, it's a really good way to make yourself into a target.
- 40:46And he starts to think about his friends and is like, even like on
- 40:52a deserted island, they would make a great party. He has come to
- 40:57the conclusion finally that he is not on the same island that they were when
- 41:02this all went down initially. But yeah, he gets knocked on the head
- 41:07and is wakes up and he is above a molten pit of magma. I
- 41:17thought that he was like going to be lowered into it, that he was
- 41:23going to be a sacrifice of some kind, but instead it seems like they're
- 41:32cooking to eat him because based on like the conversation they wind up having.
- 41:38And it's a shame because like the bank on the head comes right after him
- 41:46realizing probably his friends are going to be using their VIV cards to get back
- 41:51to Railey, that they'll never give up and that he has to, like
- 41:54you know, get his ass moving and work towards this goal as well.
- 41:58So things were looking good for him for a minute, and he tells himself
- 42:01like he needs to start eating so that he can get strong, and he's
- 42:07eating all of these like random fruits, but they taste bad. He catches
- 42:10a lizard that I guess he is planning on eating, and he's not really
- 42:14sure if he can like stomach it, but he's thinking, I don't really
- 42:17have a lot of options here, so that is what he's distracted with when
- 42:23he gets bombed, and as he is waking up and figuring out what his
- 42:30circumstances are, we have got this parade of people who are dancing around the
- 42:37fire where he is set up. And this is the sort of thing that
- 42:43it's just really painful because I Am sure they didn't mean any harm, but
- 42:50they're doing that really cringey like Native American accent sort of like, you know,
- 43:00I don't even know what to call this, because Native Americans can have
- 43:07a very specific accent, but that's not what they're doing here. They're doing
- 43:09that like Disney's Peter Pan Native American thing, where it's like a me want
- 43:16food, that kind of thing, almost you like going in the direction of
- 43:22like a caveman, but more articulate than that. And it's just it's just
- 43:29not a good look. Like the whole thing just feels really weird. And
- 43:37for some reason as well, this entire tribe of people are all really fat,
- 43:43so they all look like nearly identical. The women have almost the exact
- 43:47same body type as the men, and they're talking about how excited they are
- 43:52to eat raccoon because they it's a delicacy that they don't often find and that
- 43:59they would rather have chicken, but they can't find chicken, so they're going
- 44:02to have to do with what they've got. Considering how many of them there
- 44:07are, Chopper seems wholly inadequate as a meal. But once Chopper begins to
- 44:15yell about how he's not actually a raccoon, they're like, wait, he
- 44:22can talk, and they're sort of figuring out how to deal with him when
- 44:30a bunch of other dudes come running from the area with the nest and it
- 44:35turns out they were trying to sneak up on the birds and the birds caught
- 44:38them. I don't know if they were going to try and kill and eat
- 44:42the birds, or if they were trying to steal eggs or what, but
- 44:45the birds begin to basically like dive bomb them, and as they do,
- 44:52Chopper his like ropes break and he falls, and I think it's supposed to
- 44:59be like the impact of the birds or something like. It's just a weird
- 45:02how it breaks at this exact moment, but Chopper transforms partially into like his
- 45:10large form. As he's falling, he injures his poor little feet because he
- 45:15has to land on the edge of the pot that everything is boiling in.
- 45:19But he does get down, and he is big enough at this point that
- 45:22he could probably defend himself at least. And then we get the narrator that
- 45:30this is an island, you know, basically the birds run it. One
- 45:36legend suggests that its lands are filled with hidden treasure, but all Chopper has
- 45:42found is danger. So that's Chopper. So now I have the very unpleasant
- 45:47task of dealing with Sangi. It's just as Mike here. Oh boy.
- 46:01So this place is called Peachy Island, a dreamy, beautiful destination on the
- 46:09Grand Line, and it's very cute. I prefer the weather with Aia island.
- 46:17But this is like a bunch of heart shaped rocks with a giant heart
- 46:21shaped rainbow around it, and a fish that's got lipstick and a bow leaping
- 46:27out of the water. It's really giving Lisa frank vibes. Actually, now
- 46:30that I look at it and this fish, I swear to God it's got
- 46:37stars and hearts and its eyes and we see all of these women who are
- 46:43giggling and chasing after Sanji, and it starts off with him saying, my
- 46:51dearest Nami, my dearest Robin, it's been a while. How are you
- 46:54as for me? I'm and it's a real like you're probably wondering how I
- 47:00got here. So we cut back to him waking up on the shore of
- 47:07the island, looking up and seeing this incredible rainbow and just kind of being
- 47:14like, Jesus, what the fuck happened? Which you would ask The trees
- 47:20even have like pink leaves, I believe, or else it's supposed to be
- 47:25like flower petals. The petals or leaves are heart shaped. I think it's
- 47:32supposed to be petals. But anyway, there's a woman here asking are you
- 47:38okay? Say something anything, and he can't respond and passes out again.
- 47:46We hear him like, eventually he starts groaning and seems to open his eyes
- 47:52a little bit, and this woman is sitting on a bench wiping his face
- 47:58with a handkerchief, and his head is in her lap, and he's like,
- 48:02oh, I'm in the lap of a beautiful woman. Is it Nami?
- 48:07Is it Robin? I must be dreaming it doesn't matter. All I
- 48:12know is I want to stay here forever. And he puts his hand on
- 48:16her hand, which startles her and she runs away crying, which is a
- 48:23weird reaction. He looks down and sees the handkerchief that she had been wiping
- 48:30his face with has been left, and when he opens it, it's embroidered
- 48:35with the name Elizabeth and a heart, a very intricate, weird looking heart.
- 48:39So he determines, this is like the most romantic beautiful island I've ever
- 48:45been. And Elizabeth, who was treating my wounds, is a clearly romantic,
- 48:52beautiful woman. I am going to go and find her. I hope
- 48:58that Nami and Robin can appreciate the fact that I am being unfaithful because I
- 49:05have met my true love who is clearly an angel, because I am obviously
- 49:10in heaven. So then and I had a suspicion, You guys, I
- 49:20had my suspicions. You know. He's imagining her and him running on the
- 49:27beach, just these like romantic moments, and he pulls out Raleigh's Viver card,
- 49:31and he's thinking about how like they're waiting for him. But the least
- 49:36I can do is thank Elizabeth for her kindness. Of course, sure,
- 49:42So he finds her house and when he is standing in front of it,
- 49:45and it looks like it looks sort of like one of the towers of the
- 49:52taj Mahal, trying to think what you call this sort of architecture where the
- 49:57top looks like a raddish But he's standing there, like at the end of
- 50:01the path, and we see all of these women who are like hiding behind
- 50:07the trees around him and poking their heads out and looking at him. And
- 50:10it's really weird because like they all have really similar faces, but their eyes
- 50:16are not visible. And I was not sure what to make of this,
- 50:20And I guess what we're meant to think later is simply that their faces were
- 50:24in shadows, so you couldn't really see their features very well. I don't
- 50:30know. But he goes to the door and he tells Elizabeth, like,
- 50:36I just want to thank you and bring you your handkerchief. She very amusingly
- 50:43opens the door and just grabs the handkerchief and slams the door again. And
- 50:46I was actually sort of enjoying that. So he decides, you know what,
- 50:54I can't take offense. She doesn't know me, and I'm maybe rushing
- 51:00things a little bit. Why don't I just like approach her because she's clearly
- 51:07shy with a little bit more thoughtfulness. So he starts talking about how he
- 51:15couldn't bear to leave without thanking her. Perhaps you would allow me to apologize
- 51:20for being too forward and give me the honor of cooking for you whatever you'd
- 51:24like, I'll make it. I'm a world class chef. And she then
- 51:32says, you really like to cook, and he says, yes, I
- 51:37love cooking. Do you like clothes too? Like fashion? Yeah? Unlike
- 51:45some stupid swordsman, I know, I actually care a lot about the way
- 51:49I look. Really, you're not just saying that, Oh no, what
- 51:53about dresses? And he's like dresses and then says, oh, she's asking
- 52:00me about stuff because she wants to know what I'm into, because she's trying
- 52:05to make a love connection. And he's imagining her wearing a dress and like
- 52:12modeling it for him, asking him what he thinks of it on her,
- 52:17And I think the very last question is what about flower? Oh no,
- 52:25flower prints? What about flower? Nothing in life beats a gorgeous flower print.
- 52:30They're so adorable, And she starts laughing, and she says, all
- 52:36right then, and she opens the doors, and there's this like really achingly
- 52:44drawn out sequence of Lufy finally being able to clearly see her. And it's
- 52:52like starts off as she's walking toward him, looking like what he had been
- 53:00imagining, and as it continues, the everything like sort of transforms because he's
- 53:07getting clarity on what's in front of him. And she has come at him
- 53:14with a dress and tries to like put it on him, and he like
- 53:19gets knocked over and is thinking like she's just being a little bit over excited
- 53:24and sits up and says, my dear Elizabeth. And this is when the
- 53:29camera pulls back and we see the hairy legs, we see the five o'clock
- 53:35shadow on the face, and the really square jaw, and the face it's
- 53:42like the joke is supposed to be it's such a masculine face but with lipstick
- 53:50and mascara, and isn't that silly? But the face is truly absolutely terrifying.
- 53:58Like this is the kind of mask that somebody in the Purge would wear,
- 54:04is what I kept thinking when I was looking at this. This is
- 54:07one of the scariest faces i've ever seen. It's got a really weird structure
- 54:12too, Like it's sort of an extremely angular diamond shape in one direction,
- 54:20but then it's got a real square in another direction. It's almost reminding me
- 54:24of if you took like Rob Lowe's face and drew everything out with like a
- 54:30photoshop tool. It's so scary, and it says Elizabeth in parentheses. Man
- 54:43in parenthesis chuckles, and Sanji begins to look around and realize there are women
- 54:51behind him as well, and all of them are men in drag. I
- 54:55don't know if they're like, if it's supposed to be that they are women,
- 55:02or if it's supposed to be that it's just men who are dressing up
- 55:07like women for their own fun. It feels like they're trains because the way
- 55:13that they approach him is this is a safe place. You don't have to
- 55:19pretend to be something you're not anymore. It's a free country where you can
- 55:22be yourself. And it's such a shame, guys, because this is un
- 55:29ironically a sweet and wonderful idea and they have it as a as a fucking
- 55:36horror story, and it just it's just it's so oh god, it's really
- 55:42such a fucking bummer, and Elizabeth says, here, put on this dress
- 55:47and open the door to your heart, and Sanji says, no, I'm
- 55:52not going to open anything, and he starts to run and they all begin
- 55:57to chase him, and they all have huge heads that are completely out of
- 56:00proportion with the rest of their body. It's extremely strange, and the narrator
- 56:07is explaining on this island that no matter what forms their body takes, everybody
- 56:12on this island has girlish hearts. And we see that all of the animals
- 56:16that are like you know that had extremely feminine features earlier, they all have
- 56:22five o'clock shadow as well. Now it's hilarious, so funny, like come
- 56:34on, come on, you know, it's just such a shame. It's
- 56:38like one step away from this is the future liberals who want, you know.
- 56:45And so then we have him like being chased down the beach and he's
- 56:50yelling, leave me alone, you weirdos. I'm not into that kind of
- 56:53crap. And the whole idea that like they would be so determined to force
- 57:01him into this, it's just their faces transform into this sort of rabid,
- 57:09tongue out horror show as they chase after him. It's just really awful,
- 57:15you guys. I hated this so much. I was watching it and just
- 57:20like cringing the whole time because it could this could have been done in such
- 57:29a like acute way, and the fact that they decided to make it into
- 57:34the horror show that it is explicitly as a prank on Sanji, because like,
- 57:39you know, I get what they're trying to do, but it's just
- 57:45really really gross. So it's a shame because I really enjoyed the others the
- 57:50first two and then Choppers started out okay and we got into the whole weird
- 57:55like native thing, and then this really was like, oh boy, we're
- 58:00doing this. So I am looking forward to leaving this behind frankly. But
- 58:08yeah, So that's those two episodes. There was really not a whole lot
- 58:12of substance to them. But so I'm a little bit under time, actually,
- 58:16but I think that's fine. I don't have a lot more to say
- 58:19about these. I'm just looking forward to seeing everybody else and how they get
- 58:22back together again. So I'm going to wrap this one up. Thank you
- 58:27again, Gabby very much for commissioning this. I appreciate everybody who is listening,
- 58:31and until next time titt loom motherfuckers. That was an unspoiled network podcast.
