  Let's start with Hawthorne up against the Crows. The Hawks got a win.

  Yeah, afternoon to you, Cam. Yeah, the Hawks are good. They got away a little

  bit towards the end of the game.

  The Crows stuck with them for the best part of it and then kicked a few late
• 0:39
  to get close. But the Hawks were just a little bit too strong in the end with nine-point winners.

  And is that it? Is that a line drawn under Tasmania now for Hawthorne?

  No, they've still got, I think they play another couple there this year.

  And I believe they've got games there next year and after next year, they're out. Okay.

  And Richmond 74 defeating Essendon 56 in the Battle of Spoon Bowl.

  Yeah, Spoon Bowl. Or we probably should be calling this one Dreamtime of the GCAM.

  It's a magnificent spectacle for Doug Nichols around each year.

  And again, well done to the AFL who put on a brilliant show So unfortunately,

  the Bombers didn't come to the party.

  Once again, they were pretty ordinary. It didn't help that they had three players

  end up in hospital in the evening and three of their better players.

  But credit to Richmond, the young guns, they stood up and when it counted, they got the job done.

  And it's probably a little bit early to take it, Spoon Bowl.

  Cast your mind back to our conversation last week.

  We were talking about the Richmond injury list and that's why we thought the

  Bombers might get this one. So Richmond, they've overcome that injury less to get the points.

  Yeah, and I think there were seven pretty serious injuries that came out of

  this game. It was quite a bruising encounter.

  And I think four players ended up in hospital camp. So both teams had a crack,

  but yeah, well done to the Tigers.

  Friot, 104. St Kilda, 74. That was over in Perth, so 30 points to margin.

  And again, the Saints did well. They stuck with Friot for the best part of the game.

  And scores are relatively even, particularly early in the last quarter.

  But then Friot kicked the last five of the game to run out five goal victors.

  So the Dockers, they're marching along nicely. We'll talk about what they've

  got next up in round 12 shortly. But I think as we stand at present,

  Cam, they're equal premiership favourites with the Cats.

  Now, I don't want to buy into the post-Darwin commentary of Suns' struggle afterwards,

  but they went down by six points to the Kangaroos down in Melbourne.

  They went down by six points after leading by 43 during the second.

  And in that point in time, Cam, and we did speak about this extensively last
• 2:56
  week, about the Suns' post-Darwin experiences over the last three years where

  they've dropped three of their next four games in each of those years.

  They haven't started well this year. They had the game absolutely on toast and credit to the Kangas.

  They came out absolutely firing in the second half and the Suns looked dead

  on their feet in the last quarter and it took until after the siren for Cam

  Zerha to kick the goal and seal it for the Kangas.

  And your Cats, tell me that you tipped them, please, against the Swans.

  I did, Cam. I tipped them this week. I thought their form was too good not to

  and 27 points in the end over the Swans. I didn't attend the game.

  I watched it on TV, but the Cats did look very impressive, I must say.

  And Collingwood, 10-point winners over West Coast in Pendlebury's record-breaking 4.33.

  But the Eagles, they scared the Magpies. They certainly did.

  And unfortunately, AFL scheduled these games 15 minutes apart from each other.

  And I waited until the Cats game finished, and I saw the last 10 minutes of

  the West Coast-Collingwood game.

  West Coast got within three points with about eight minutes remaining.

  Collingwood kicked the last two goals of the game to win by 10.

  Unfortunately, with about four minutes to go, Jamie Elliott jumped for a mark,

  landed awkwardly, and Torrey's ACL, so he'll miss the rest of the season.

  The captain, Darcy Moore, once again went down with a soft tissue injury,

  and he'll miss a few more weeks.

  I think four to six, they're saying, at present, with a hamstring injury,
• 4:30
  so they can't take a trick with the injuries there, the Pies.

  Hook me through that comment that you just made. The AFL scheduling has games

  on at the exact same time.

  Yes, and they've done it, they did it on Friday night with Dreamtime at the

  G as well as Frio and St Kilda over in Perth.

  I think they started about half an hour apart, which once upon a time,

  the Friday night game was a standalone game, which anyone that's in follows
• 4:59
  the AFL would be tuned into that game.

  And then on Saturday, the Cats game started at 4.15 and Collingwood started at 4.30.

  So particularly with two massive games, well, you know, the Cats game was a
• 5:13
  huge game because we've got two of the best teams in the comp playing each other.

  And then obviously Scott Pendlebury's 433rd and record-breaking game.

  I believe Geelong contacted the AFL and requested to move the time of their
• 5:26
  game so it didn't coincide with the Collingwood game, but the AFL knocked that on the head.

  This is doing my head in. This is almost like a time machine.

  This hasn't happened in rugby league for 20 years.

  Growing up, you know, kickoff was Saturday afternoon or Sunday afternoon, 3 p.m.

  But once we got to the turn of the century, pay TV, broadcast deals,

  every game is a standalone game.

  Yes. And so that not only, well, you know, you go to the game,
• 5:57
  But for all the people around the country and around the world who are streaming

  and watching the game, you have something called Super Saturday.

  Three games back to back to back. It is no crossover.

  How is AFL not operating in this paradigm? I just do not understand it, Cam.

  I do not get it. And even it came to, you know, 7 o'clock Sunday night.

  And generally, there's a game over in Perth. Either it's the Dockers or the
• 6:26
  Eagles hosting someone over in Perth.

  And that didn't eventuate because we had two games on the Friday night up against
• 6:32
  each other and then the two games on the Saturday up against each other.

  So, yeah, I just don't get it.

  Some of the decisions the AFL are making, we spoke earlier in the year about

  opening round and now we're coming up next week, which we'll talk shortly about

  the buys are starting again.

  The scheduling and the fixturing in the AFL needs a really good look at.

  Well, they'll do me that one. Blues, 92, Port Adelaide, 58, two on the trot

  without Voss. Unbelievable.

  What we were saying last week, you know, the majority of the game is played above the shoulders.

  Cam, they're all fitters. They can possibly be, these blokes.

  And for the Carlton to come out and get back-to-back wins when they've been

  as ordinary as they have been in the first 10 rounds of the year,

  I feel for Michael Voss right now.

  Yeah, we all do. Now, take me through the third quarter of GWS. What happened?

  Unbelievable. I think the Giants led by six points at quarter time, six points at halftime.

  They came out and kicked 14 goals, two in the third quarter,

  which is the equal fourth highest quarter score in the game's history.

  And they also, with 166 points, the Giants kicked their highest score in their history.

  It was phenomenal. and particularly for that to happen in the modern game camp, 14 goals in a quarter.

  But not only was it against, sorry, I shouldn't say, it wasn't against the lowly side.

  Defending premiers. It was against the side that's won the last two flags.

  I still remember you last year absolutely rating them as your grand final smoke is the GWS.

  Are they coming good just 12 months later?

  Well, time will tell. They have been smashed by injuries, which we've mentioned

  earlier throughout the year, but they might be getting a few guys back,

  dribs and drabs as we speak, and I think their second half of the year might

  be a little bit stronger than their first.

  He's got home by three points against the Dees. Yeah, and the Ds had every chance.

  They dropped a mark late, a length of deep.

  He had his chest all over. He dropped a chest mark in the end.

  They had their chances, the Ds. Well done, the dogs are out by five goals and

  change halfway through the second quarter.

  So they thoroughly deserve the win.

  The Ds probably could have snatched in the end, but just made a few bad decisions.

  So we've got a new ladder leader in the Dockers.

  The Dockers are up the top camp, followed by the Swannies and the Cats. They're the top three.

  There's a game separating each of those three sides. Then we've got the Hawks,

  Suns, and the Demons rounding out the six.

  And Adelaide, Brisbane, Bulldogs, and Magpies, they're in the wildcard round.

  I don't like that little red inverted triangle that's sitting next to the Suns.

  I do hope we can turn that back to a regular green triangle.

  Yes, we hope they don't replicate years gone by after their Darwin games.

  I think as that later stands at the moment, Cam, if we're looking into our crystal

  ball, I can see Collingwood dropping out of that top 10.

  And I think the Giants might make their way into that. But I couldn't see too

  many other changes from the top 10 at the moment.

  Right, let's jump into round 12. It all starts Thursday night with St Kilda up against Hawthorne.

  Yeah, Saints and the Hawks, Cam, this should be a cracker.

  The Saints' form is great without setting the world on fire.

  They're competitive in games, but they just can't get over the line,

  and the Dockers is a perfect example of that last week.

  The Hawks got a much-needed windfall in their debacle the week before against

  the Dees, so they're back in the winner's circle. They're sitting fourth on the ladder for a reason.

  They're a classy side, and I think they'll be too strong at the Dome against the Saints.

  Hawks and the Blues up against York Cards. 15 versus third. Can the Blues go three on the trot?

  I couldn't imagine so, Cam. The Cats are just playing sensational footy.

  I was a bit concerned, as you will remember, a few weeks back when they went

  down to Port Adelaide over there and then they hosted North Melbourne here and

  it took them two and a half quarters to shake off the Kangas.

  But since then, they've demolished Collingwood, demolished Brisbane,
• 10:53
  and they're very, very good against the Swans on Saturday here at Kadena Park.

  So I couldn't see the Blues wearing the Cats this weekend.

  Yeah, Cats for me. Swans up against the Tigers. Swans to bounce back?

  Most definitely. They should be way too strong for the Tigers.

  Again, well done to the Tigers getting the win last week. They've been severely
• 11:14
  undermanned all year, but I can't see them coming within eight goals of the Swanies in Sydney.

  Now, I say a week's a long time in football. Is it long enough for the Lions

  to turn it around from what happened against GWS up against the Dockers?

  I'm going to have to tip them, Cam. I just cannot see the Lions falling off

  the cliff. They are too strong all over the ground. And...

  Even their midfield to have 14 goals conceded in a quarter when the likes of

  McCluggage and Ashcroft and Rainer and Lockie Neal and the likes running through

  that midfield, it's a superstar lineup.

  How that happened, I just do not understand. I don't think we'll ever see it again.

  I think they're a proud club. They've won the last two flags for a reason because they're a super side.

  And I'm going to tip them to bounce back at home against the Doggers.

  This is one of those things where they just need to somehow erase that third

  quarter from their memory.

  Because if that becomes the focus, then I think that's pretty detrimental.

  will, that could be the absolute turning point for the Giants season also.

  Yeah, Doggies were good against Melbourne yesterday or Sunday.

  The Maggies just got the job done over West Coast.

  It was a hard-fought win. West Coast were really good on Saturday against the

  Pies and almost upset the party for the Collingwood Faithful with Scotty Prenderby's 4-3-3 game.

  I think the Dogs should be too strong, particularly with Jamie Elliott going

  out, Darcy Ball, another key defender, goes down for the Pies.

  They've been hampered by injuries throughout this year, and they'll be up and

  down for the rest of the year. And as I mentioned before, Cam,

  I could see them missing out on the top 10.

  Look, I'll be tipping the dogs in this one. I thought, you know,

  and we spoke about it last week, so we don't need to rehash it.

  But the Magpies were just trying to man-manage a big win in the 4-3-3 game,

  a lot of pressure around that.

  Everyone had a gold number on their back as well, didn't they?

  They did. Yeah, like, you know, that really should have just been reserved for

  Pendlebury. I think that was so focused in on that one.

  Dees, GWS, can GWS take their third quarter form into this game? I think they can.

  Can, can, I should say. They're at TIO Traeger Park in Alice Springs, this one.

  And the Dees, they play a couple of games there each year and they know the ground well.

  They did play the Giants there last year. And I think the Giants might have even got over the line.

  But I expect the Giants to run with that.

  Form that they produced last week, and they will beat Melbourne in the red centre.

  I think just that knowledge of that ground in Alice Springs,

  They don't play too many at the G these days, and they handled the big occasion,

  And the week before, they dismantled GWS over in Perth. So I couldn't imagine

  Now, knowing that the Gold Coast usually lose after they leave Darwin,

  I'm pleased that they've got a bye because that's a chance for them to get over all of that.

  But I don't understand why there are four teams with byes in round 12 when you're

  not playing a state of origin this week like we are in rugby league. Crazy.

  Absolute crazy. And missing the boat again.

  Imagine like an AFL state of origin weekend would just be all time.

  I grew up as a kid watching the state of origin and there was nothing greater.

  It was on a Tuesday or Wednesday night. come home from

  school and all you do is get ready for the state of origin and

  unfortunately we don't have that feeling anymore there was an exhibition game

  at the start of the year and they can call it state of origin but that's at

  the start of the year it was an exhibition game it needs to be back in its raw

  spot middle of the year as the nrl do and they do it exceptionally well the boys cam.

  I don't get it. I think the buy's run over about five weeks here for the AFL,

  which is just crazy in itself.

  You know, if we need to have a buy for everyone, let's just do it over two weeks.
