- 0:00Speaker 1: I'm going to pass that now. So I've been– so
- 0:01Speaker 1: this is my mindset. I feel like it's either going
- 0:04Speaker 1: to go good or it's going to go good. I
- 0:06Speaker 1: feel like we're in the go-good portion as far as
- 0:09Speaker 1: just letting it play out. Then we get to a
- 0:11Speaker 1: situation to where, hey, you're hiring a new head coach.
- 0:15Speaker 1: So I feel like we either go good and win nine,
- 0:17Speaker 1: ten games, good season, or we start losing games and
- 0:20Speaker 1: we fire Mike Novella. And that's the good part about
- 0:22Speaker 1: it as well too because we're going to– better days
- 0:24Speaker 1: will be coming pretty soon.
- 0:26Speaker 2: My only fear is– What if they luck into, like,
- 0:31Speaker 2: no good wins?
- 0:33Speaker 3: And that's the thing Harley was just talking about. We
- 0:34Speaker 3: don't want that to happen. We don't want to give
- 0:35Speaker 3: them the opportunity.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Like, that's where I'm just like, okay. So the scenario is, like,
- 0:41Speaker 2: you think about, like, okay. I don't know if you
- 0:44Speaker 2: saw that Thamel report that came out today. But that's
- 0:46Speaker 2: what got me frustrated on my postgame was if you,
- 0:51Speaker 2: say you beat B.C., We all think we could win
- 0:53Speaker 2: that game. NC State, not real great. Pittsburgh doesn't have
- 0:56Speaker 2: a quarterback. So there's three wins right there. I mean,
- 0:58Speaker 2: there's six wins. What if Clemson, like, I don't think
- 1:01Speaker 2: they're going to. So the other three games are Clemson, Florida, Miami.
- 1:04Speaker 2: I don't think we're winning any of those. But what
- 1:06Speaker 2: if you did? Like, what if you beat Clemson?
- 1:08Speaker 3: You got 75.
- 1:09Speaker 2: And they're bringing it back. Like, I mean, I just.
- 1:13Speaker 2: And that's where I think it puts Florida State fans
- 1:16Speaker 2: in a tough spot.
- 1:17Speaker 3: So to your.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Point, if I'm a decision maker, because I'm looking at
- 1:21Speaker 1: the optics, right? So I'm looking at the same shit
- 1:22Speaker 1: you just said. Yeah, we won these seven wins, but
- 1:27Speaker 1: a Stanford, I'm sorry, a Pittsburgh team down the quarterback,
- 1:31Speaker 1: a Clemson team that's clearly not Clemson, right? This isn't
- 1:34Speaker 1: the same Clemson we've been seeing. So we're looking at
- 1:38Speaker 1: a seven. Yeah, I get a seven, five, seven to five,
- 1:40Speaker 1: eight and four to the same third, but we really pulled.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Back the layers.
- 1:44Speaker 2: It's a fake seven to five, but I think for
- 1:47Speaker 2: the people that are.
- 1:48Speaker 1: But that's a good point, though, because they don't want
- 1:50Speaker 1: to pry in the first place, right?
- 1:51Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:51Speaker 2: So the people that aren't psychos like me and you,
- 1:54Speaker 2: that follow every single step of the road, I think
- 1:59Speaker 2: they're okay with it. I think they... You know, the
- 2:03Speaker 2: average fan that goes to games, like, this is their
- 2:07Speaker 2: Saturdays in the fall, and then they move on with
- 2:10Speaker 2: life at other times, where me and you don't do that. Like,
- 2:12Speaker 2: we are obsessed with every aspect of this, and that's
- 2:15Speaker 2: why it's so frustrating to us, but the average fan
- 2:19Speaker 2: that just goes to seven, eight games would look at
- 2:21Speaker 2: it and say, ah, you know, we got better. We
- 2:24Speaker 2: got a little bit better over the year. I don't know, man.
- 2:27Speaker 2: I just hope that more people are like psychos like
- 2:29Speaker 2: me and you and expect better.
- 2:31Speaker 3: And we need more voices to get more loud, right?
- 2:34Speaker 1: And I think after this week, if things go how
- 2:37Speaker 1: we think it'll go, those voices will definitely be in
- 2:40Speaker 1: play and they'll be a lot more loud. But to
- 2:42Speaker 1: your point, like the average fan, like the people, we
- 2:45Speaker 1: know it's bigger than just It's deeper than the fall, right?
- 2:49Speaker 1: Because everything that leads up to the fall is pretty
- 2:53Speaker 1: much so important as far as the foundation of the
- 2:55Speaker 1: program years after. And we know the recruiting is terrible.
- 2:59Speaker 1: If you go win six games, win seven games, it's
- 3:01Speaker 1: going to get even.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Worse, right? Because you have nothing. What are you selling?
- 3:04Speaker 3: What are you selling at that point to these recruits?
- 3:06Speaker 1: Hey, I went from two to five to six and
- 3:08Speaker 1: seven wins. You're not selling that at all. Then you
- 3:12Speaker 1: got Miami on the flip end who can sell, okay,
- 3:15Speaker 1: this is what's going on. You have Florida on the
- 3:17Speaker 1: flip end who, if they continue, I think they'll be fine.
- 3:19Speaker 1: They went eight games or so first year, which is
- 3:22Speaker 1: damn good, in my opinion, for their head coach. Hey,
- 3:26Speaker 1: this is what we're building at Florida. We have that
- 3:28Speaker 1: new energy, this new juice. We're going into, it'll be what,
- 3:31Speaker 1: year eight for Norville?
- 3:32Speaker 2: Talking about six and seven wins like that might be enough.
- 3:36Speaker 2: That's crazy, CJ.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Come on.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Listen, I don't mean to be disrespectful, but Bowden might
- 3:43Speaker 2: not have been the only thing they buried a few
- 3:45Speaker 2: years ago, bro. I think they buried the standard. I
- 3:47Speaker 2: think they buried the standard with Coach. I truly believe
- 3:52Speaker 2: they just don't care. And I'm not trying to say
- 3:55Speaker 2: nobody there cares. That's not my point. But you look
- 3:58Speaker 2: at the president. The president's not an alum. He went
- 4:03Speaker 2: to Harvard, man. He's there as a business guy to
- 4:05Speaker 2: acquire a hospital. And he's done a great job with
- 4:07Speaker 2: all that. But you've got a lot of people. Michael Alford.
- 4:10Speaker 2: He was great to us. He came on the show.
- 4:12Speaker 2: He was nice. Whatever. I ain't got nothing wrong with
- 4:14Speaker 2: him as a person. He didn't go to FSU. I
- 4:17Speaker 2: don't think he cared. It was another job. He interviewed
- 4:20Speaker 2: for other jobs. I think a lot of the people
- 4:22Speaker 2: running this thing don't really care. And it sucks because
- 4:27Speaker 2: we want them to care like we do, but they're
- 4:30Speaker 2: just not. Again, I'm not saying that everybody in that
- 4:33Speaker 2: building does not care. I know there's a lot. I
- 4:34Speaker 2: know Ernie cares. I know Fuller cares. I know there's
- 4:37Speaker 2: people there that care. But I think a large portion
- 4:40Speaker 2: of them, they don't care like we do because they
- 4:44Speaker 2: don't understand how special Tallahassee is, how special Florida State is,
- 4:47Speaker 2: what Coach Bowden built, what Jimbo carried on. And it's
- 4:51Speaker 2: just another, I mean, for a lot of these people,
- 4:53Speaker 2: it's just another job. And I don't know how that changes.
- 4:57Speaker 2: I know that college football is such a business now,
- 5:00Speaker 2: and I get that. But, man, if you get the
- 5:02Speaker 2: right people in place that actually care, like Miami's AD,
- 5:06Speaker 2: when they hired, like, Mario cares because he went there,
- 5:09Speaker 2: but Miami's AD, when they had that guy from Clemson,
- 5:12Speaker 2: he wasn't a Miami alum. Their president, they got rid
- 5:14Speaker 2: of Donna. They got alignment. They got people that cared.
- 5:18Speaker 2: They got people that were tired of getting embarrassed. And
- 5:20Speaker 2: I just wonder how many times we have to get
- 5:22Speaker 2: embarrassed before the people that actually make the decisions will say,
- 5:25Speaker 2: you know what, I care enough to stop being embarrassed.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Because it took Kirk calling them out on game day
- 5:30Speaker 2: for them to finally change things. And I'm wondering where
- 5:32Speaker 2: that line is drawn. I'm wondering if a 44-6 run
- 5:36Speaker 2: on a Friday night when the whole nation is watching
- 5:38Speaker 2: by Louisville is enough. Or if Miami needs to beat
- 5:40Speaker 2: us by 60. Is that what it takes? Or a
- 5:44Speaker 2: Clemson team that you just said that is not Clemson.
- 5:47Speaker 2: If that could be enough. Or if it's the end
- 5:49Speaker 2: of the year. I was talking about this on my show.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Florida had three wins when they played us last year.
- 5:54Speaker 2: And they beat the dog shit out of us. That
- 5:57Speaker 2: was not like. 96 Florida. That was a three-win Florida
- 6:02Speaker 2: team that just got blown out by Tennessee the week before.
- 6:04Speaker 2: So I just wonder, man, will it ever.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Get embarrassing enough? That's the thing, bro. It's crazy.
- 6:13Speaker 1: First of all, you put out the statement after Stanford
- 6:15Speaker 1: and say, as season's in, we're going to evaluate. And
- 6:18Speaker 1: then you put out the statement, we're going to stick
- 6:20Speaker 1: by Norvell before the season is actually over.
- 6:24Speaker 2: They're covering their butt. They were covering their butt, man.
- 6:26Speaker 1: And then you get boat race by Florida. But to
- 6:29Speaker 1: your point, we have business people in place, right? So
- 6:32Speaker 1: once the business started hurting, and I think if they
- 6:35Speaker 1: announce that they're going to bring Norvell back this year, oh,
- 6:37Speaker 1: my gosh. The ticket sales, booster, all of that type
- 6:41Speaker 1: of shit is going to plummet.
- 6:43Speaker 3: It's going to plummet.
- 6:44Speaker 2: I feel bad for the people that got to make
- 6:45Speaker 2: season ticket calls. Those people got the worst job in America.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Worst job in America.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Trying to sell season tickets for Florida State.
- 6:55Speaker 2: It should be the easiest job.
- 6:56Speaker 3: It should be, right?
- 6:57Speaker 2: It should be the easiest job. Like, hey, boss, I
- 6:59Speaker 2: just got another sale. Oh, I mean, you're selling tickets
- 7:01Speaker 2: to FSU. It shouldn't be that hard.
- 7:03Speaker 3: Now you're just getting cold calls again.
- 7:06Speaker 2: You know, like the telemarketers call you and you're like,
- 7:08Speaker 2: Don't ever call me again.
- 7:09Speaker 1: You can't cuss out by saying I want some season
- 7:12Speaker 1: tickets to Florida.
- 7:13Speaker 3: State, man. You want to renew. People are cussing you out.
- 7:15Speaker 1: That's why renewing. So I think it's going to get
- 7:17Speaker 1: to that point. And that's really why Willie Taggart was fired.
- 7:21Speaker 1: They saw the projections as far as what was happening
- 7:24Speaker 1: from the money standpoint and how things were going to
- 7:26Speaker 1: project from the ticket sales.
- 7:28Speaker 3: And it just, it was the losing. We were in
- 7:30Speaker 3: the red.
- 7:30Speaker 1: And I think it's going to happen with Florida State
- 7:32Speaker 1: pretty quickly with this Martin Ravell situation. That's what you
- 7:35Speaker 1: got to make a move for and just understand like, okay, Yes,
- 7:39Speaker 1: we owe him $ 40, 000, $ 45, 000, whatever the money is, but
- 7:41Speaker 1: the bite isn't that big as far as the totality
- 7:47Speaker 1: of the program, how much money you're going to be
- 7:48Speaker 1: actually losing. You bring in a new guy and say
- 7:50Speaker 1: you win. You win nine, ten games. Hell, if you
- 7:53Speaker 1: win ten games in the ACC, you got a chance
- 7:56Speaker 1: to make it to the playoffs, right? Within this new era,
- 7:58Speaker 1: if you win ten games and do it right. And
- 8:01Speaker 1: you can get your money back pretty quickly.
- 8:03Speaker 3: From just winning.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Miami made– I mean, we fought for this. I did
- 8:07Speaker 2: a whole video on this. We fought for people to
- 8:10Speaker 2: make more money if they were more valuable on the
- 8:12Speaker 2: field and on TV. Miami made $ 40 million last year
- 8:16Speaker 2: just from going to the national championship. And they have
- 8:18Speaker 2: split none of that with the ACC. Indiana made that
- 8:20Speaker 2: same $ 40 million, but had to split it 18 ways.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Miami basically made Mike's buyout in one year.
- 8:26Speaker 3: One year.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Going to the national championship. If you got a coach
- 8:28Speaker 2: that was serious, and you don't owe Mike that money
- 8:30Speaker 2: up front. You owe him it yearly as it pays
- 8:32Speaker 2: out 85% by year. If you got a coach that
- 8:34Speaker 2: was serious about football, I think Summerall is going to
- 8:36Speaker 2: be good. You know, like, I mean, you know, we'll see.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Proof will be in the pudding. But if you got
- 8:41Speaker 2: a coach that you thought was going to be good,
- 8:42Speaker 2: now you might hire another Taggart or Norvell. You never know. Like,
- 8:45Speaker 2: Florida hired four bad coaches.
- 8:46Speaker 3: In a row.
- 8:47Speaker 2: You might hire another bad one. But you got to
- 8:49Speaker 2: move on because it's not just the money you lose
- 8:51Speaker 2: from season ticket sales and donors and all that stuff.
- 8:54Speaker 2: It's the opportunity cost you're losing, too. Like I said,
- 8:56Speaker 2: Miami hired the right guy. It sucks for us. But
- 8:59Speaker 2: Mario clearly is the right guy that can bring in talent,
- 9:01Speaker 2: hire good coordinators, and win a lot of games in
- 9:04Speaker 2: this conference. If you do that, miami just made miami
- 9:08Speaker 2: just made the whole freaking buyout in one off season
- 9:11Speaker 2: bro that is and it's the most infuriating thing right.
- 9:14Speaker 1: That's what i'm saying so if you get the right
- 9:16Speaker 1: guy and don't be the right guy in it can
- 9:20Speaker 1: be a pretty damn quick turnaround especially in this conference
- 9:22Speaker 1: because you're going to be here for for the next
- 9:24Speaker 1: few years right within this conference it can be a
- 9:27Speaker 1: quick turnaround you get that money in and you like
- 9:30Speaker 1: you said you don't have to pay all this money
- 9:31Speaker 1: up front yeah in the in the beginning so You
- 9:33Speaker 1: could be on the green if you just make the
- 9:35Speaker 1: decision and if you had the right guy. Now, of course,
- 9:37Speaker 1: it's a crapshoot where he's right, got the wrong guy.
- 9:39Speaker 1: But we know clearly we have the wrong guy. So
- 9:42Speaker 1: that's already a known commodity as far as Norvell isn't
- 9:49Speaker 1: the guy.
