- 0:00The recorder, it's called the Hortio share.
- 0:03It means the straight way of life and the idea of the book is
- 0:07is that he basically he writes it as he says he's not worthy of
- 0:11someone to give advice, but some of the people came to him for
- 0:14advice. So he compiled his thoughts.
- 0:17Really what he did was compile different sources for the Torah
- 0:21as the ideas I'll make a person a better person.
- 0:23Different fact is that he considers valuable things of
- 0:26life. So for example, I give you a
- 0:28list of topics that he has. I don't if we go through all of
- 0:31them, but this topic he has one is how important truth is being
- 0:37keeping to admit how important it is valuable it is to be able
- 0:41to avoid neglecting to our study how important yes it is how
- 0:46important it is to judge favorably different topics of
- 0:49what makes a person a good person focusing on Hashem,
- 0:54nothing to be a word. So let's get the truth.
- 0:56The first one is many, many topics, 2830 topics in total.
- 1:00Let's get to most our truth. His first one, I'll tell you why
- 1:04I'm speaking about truth in a second.
- 1:07Here's how he opens up his book Emmett Karma if legal
- 1:11Khazalbimidata Ahmed, how much have the rabbi's valued the
- 1:16attribute of Emmett? Rabbis have made a very big deal
- 1:19in the Torah of our one point it is to speak the truth of Amru.
- 1:23They say God's seal is truth and it says Hashem created
- 1:31everything in the world is how it says it.
- 1:34This turn out to be out. Hako Baraka is better whom
- 1:39Hashem created everything hoots mimidata shekharomidata Avila.
- 1:44Aside from false, it doesn't mean God didn't create it.
- 1:47It means these are the words by Shiloh Baravelo.
- 1:51Hashem didn't create, these are the words and he didn't make
- 1:55lie. This is not that's not a
- 1:57reality. I show everything in the world I
- 1:59show him did create. He did create people to lie, but
- 2:02it means that it's part of the world that Hashem does not want
- 2:05to be here a minute is a part that God wants to be the main,
- 2:10main factor in the world, that the world should be driven by
- 2:12truth. Now I'll go further in a minute,
- 2:16but I want to bring out this point.
- 2:18Why is honesty? And honesty doesn't just mean
- 2:21avoid stealing. Honesty means speaking the
- 2:24truth. Such a big deal.
- 2:26You're telling me that it's a seal of Hashem.
- 2:28That means God's final seal, a stamp, if you want to call that
- 2:33is Ahmet Torah. Torah is true, OK?
- 2:38It's true. There's no lies.
- 2:41It's a good thing to speak the truth.
- 2:43It's a nice thing. Not it's not a good thing to
- 2:45lie. Is it that terrible that you're
- 2:48going to consider it in a certain sense the number one
- 2:51definition of Hashem and you know, in a certain sense God's
- 2:54greatest servant more should have been no more definition
- 2:56than his truth. Why is being true and being
- 2:59honest such an unbelievable big deal?
- 3:01Because. If you're not true and honest,
- 3:02then the IT would be you're not going to live by the principles
- 3:06of life that we're supposed to live by.
- 3:08OK, there. So you have someone out there
- 3:12who likes to lie. They tell you, you know, and
- 3:14trust them. Can't trust them.
- 3:16I'm just counterfeit, OK? I don't need that with a guy
- 3:20like that right now. Everybody does something wrong,
- 3:24but you admit it, you say the truth, you admire for it, you
- 3:27know, you take you take your punishment, whatever it is, you
- 3:29got something wrong, OK, You know?
- 3:31We'll see how that plays out. But the idea is like this, when
- 3:35someone gets used to lying, it's not something to all your
- 3:38points. It's not something.
- 3:40The fact that he doesn't speak the truth is that he develops a
- 3:43perspective of a created existence.
- 3:47It's not the real thing. And he starts getting this my
- 3:50own opinion. He starts getting used to the
- 3:53idea of manufacturing whatever the story is, and eventually
- 3:58manufacturing his own life and his first told others and
- 4:02eventually told himself. He starts going to create an
- 4:04existence that's not there. This would happen when you get
- 4:07used to lying. First you just start saying
- 4:10things. You know someone comes into the
- 4:11store, they want to buy something.
- 4:12You say something, it's not really true, but you say anyway.
- 4:15It's a lie, it's a white lie, whatever.
- 4:17Then you start saying other stories about yourself.
- 4:20Before you know it in your own mind, you start to believe these
- 4:23lies and you create in your own vision a manufactured existence.
- 4:27I know many people out there who think things of themselves that
- 4:32are not really real. They just, how'd they get there?
- 4:35They got there 'cause it's hard to lie to themselves.
- 4:37Start to lie to others and they'll lie to themselves and
- 4:40before they know it, they believe they have an imagination
- 4:44of who they are and what they're supposed to be based on that
- 4:47falsehood. That's how bad a lie is.
- 4:50Whereas truth, Emmett remains grounded.
- 4:54The power of Emmett, the power of remain true is that you, you
- 4:59remain the same person. You never lies of the change.
- 5:02You are who you are. You are you're you're, you're a
- 5:06result of your actions. You're a result of your life,
- 5:09right? That's who you are.
- 5:10There's no, there's no fake definition of who you are.
- 5:13And you end up keeping yourself grounded.
- 5:16It's a funny thing. You don't think that it relates.
- 5:18How does falsehood relate to becoming a different kind of
- 5:20person? It's because once you allow
- 5:22falsehood to set in, once you lie is how to say lies, you
- 5:26eventually start creating in your mind an existence that
- 5:30isn't real. And you stop, you know, bloating
- 5:33up your mind as to who you are and what are you capable of and
- 5:37what other people think of you. How'd you get there?
- 5:40Because you allow all lies and said, and if you remain true,
- 5:43you remain the same person. Let's give examples.
- 5:45Exactly. And Madame was said Atsmol Sadiq
- 5:49udaaber Ahmet. He writes if a person commits to
- 5:53being righteous and speaking the truth, Mohsin Lomala, God
- 5:58provides you an Angel. She made the hagei MO Baderakh
- 6:01Sadiqim Umudaber Ahmet. God provides him an Angel that
- 6:07guides him like you know, with the great protection that the
- 6:09said he came got fine. The Mosaid adamant that's more a
- 6:13Shah and if a person becomes evil, which means he speaks
- 6:17falsehood, God gives him the opposite type of Angel.
- 6:20Now all be a great example of this.
- 6:23Akar Vinu was defined as the one who had the most angels.
- 6:29You know he spoke to angels, he sent angels all those things.
- 6:32Maybe that's because he was a man of Torah, and Torah is
- 6:37Ahmet. Maybe that's why if you speak
- 6:39the truth, you're granted angels.
- 6:41Now it's a nice gift. Why is that a necessary factor?
- 6:45Why do I need angels if I'm a person who remains true?
- 6:49Say so it goes. When you become a person who
- 6:52creates falsehood, lies, and you manufacture life, you think that
- 6:58you're going to get ahead. When someone is a liar, what
- 7:02they are is someone who's trying to create an existence and to
- 7:06create an outcome and develop a way to get ahead, whether it be
- 7:09in their popularity, in their business, in their name.
- 7:15They try to use their own words as ways of getting ahead.
- 7:19They think that they need it. When you start saying false, it
- 7:22is our works and someone starts to lie, they get addicted to
- 7:25lying. Why?
- 7:26Because they believe that it helps them.
- 7:29It's how they got ahead in business.
- 7:31It's how they get ahead with that popularity.
- 7:33And you have, and I know this is a fact.
- 7:35There are people out there who speak and they don't really say
- 7:40the most true stories, no names at all.
- 7:43I'm not referring to anybody. You know, I know this is a fact.
- 7:47They don't really say true stories.
- 7:49And eventually and I once actually saw one of these people
- 7:53Pen, I would never quote him, but he he he actually wrote a
- 7:56reason irrational, irrationalized why he doesn't
- 8:00really give you the exact facts in his stories.
- 8:02People don't know this Prime Minister is a fact.
- 8:04Now, what happens when you get used to that?
- 8:07If you get used to speaking and making up your own stories,
- 8:10before you know it, you can't control you something because
- 8:14before you know it, you say to yourself, I can't give a
- 8:17beautiful speech without giving an amazing story.
- 8:19And I won't be able to get an amazing story without
- 8:21manufacturing. I want something to make up fake
- 8:23stories. And you get used to it.
- 8:24You get used to it before you know it, you end up just
- 8:27completely out of a hat. I'm sure in the beginning he
- 8:30probably just, you know, glory, you know, go to the story, but
- 8:33eventually just made-up a story from from scratch.
- 8:36What happens is when a person gets used to speak in full suit,
- 8:40they eventually get used to manufacturing in existence and a
- 8:44world that doesn't, that doesn't really, not really there.
- 8:47And then I was telling you, the rabbi is telling you that you
- 8:49have an Angel with you when you speak the truth doesn't mean you
- 8:53have an Angel. That means you might think that
- 8:57you're limiting yourself when you speak the truth.
- 8:59Why? Because you can't create
- 9:02outcomes. You can't get ahead in business,
- 9:05you can't tell the buyers there are things that aren't true
- 9:08which therefore puts you out, you know, limits you.
- 9:11You might think you're holding yourself back, FYI, it's true.
- 9:16You may be holding yourself back naturally, but overall God
- 9:21provides for you an Angel, and that Angel takes you out of
- 9:26life, which says that even though you don't have the
- 9:30strength of your word and your developed word helping you
- 9:34alone, don't worry, you have Hashem.
- 9:38Here's how it works. You can either manufacture your
- 9:40story and rely on yourself, or you can keep your words at Bay
- 9:45and keep them as truth and have the help of Hashem.
- 9:48Now why would Hashem send you an Angel when you speak the truth?
- 9:52You know why? Because you're being like him.
- 9:54God's existence is totally true, right?
- 9:58And the same way Hashem is totally true, His Torah is
- 10:00totally true, and He wants us, His children to be the exact
- 10:04same way. So you have two choices in life.
- 10:06He can either take a path, which is a path of falsehood, which
- 10:11really means a path, or you're depending on your own self and
- 10:16you're a man alone. Your words, your picture, your
- 10:21portrayal. Or you could choose a path which
- 10:24really feels like you're limiting yourself.
- 10:26Have to be true in every story. I have to talk to the buyers in
- 10:31a very honest way. I can never get out of a mistake
- 10:34by lying. I have to always, just always be
- 10:38honest. That means even if I feel like
- 10:40one second, I'm going to be embarrassed if I say the truth
- 10:43or even if I feel like, hey, someone's going to be maybe
- 10:46upset at me if they find out the truth of what I've done doesn't
- 10:49matter. I want to remain honest.
- 10:52You know, you have instead less of your own manufacturing
- 10:56success, more of God's help to help you develop success.
- 11:01So you have two choices. You can either choose the the
- 11:04choice of your own development or you can use the choice of
- 11:08Hashem's help. So it seems like it's a
- 11:09challenge. What he's telling you over here
- 11:11is, you know, we all love honesty.
- 11:13We all talk about Amen. I'll speak the truth.
- 11:16We all like that. What if you're in a pickle?
- 11:19What if you in a situation when someone asks you a question and
- 11:23if you speak the truth, it's a bit embarrassing, right?
- 11:26Well, then I'll give you examples.
- 11:29Someone asked you to go into Miyan that morning, right?
- 11:32Went to Miyan that morning. You didn't go to Miyan that
- 11:35morning. That happens.
- 11:36And you like to be someone who's known to go to Miyan, speak to
- 11:40Jews would be embarrassing. All right, I'll give you a clear
- 11:44example. That happened to me in this
- 11:45trip. So the whole purpose of the trip
- 11:47was two by two, really three by missus, but that was the
- 11:51purpose. And what happened to yours?
- 11:54So the first one was because my brother's on mitzvah, I
- 11:57surprised my president. That was a cool story.
- 12:00My brother have a show. So I landed on Sunday night and
- 12:04I came in Sunday night. I went and we just walked in and
- 12:11my sister was there. She knew, but my mother didn't
- 12:14know. My brother didn't know.
- 12:15It was a very cool thing. I shall speak about a certain
- 12:18point. I do it setting up to my mitzvah
- 12:20in a hall. My wife and I at the Davie, we
- 12:23just walked in, knocked on the door and said hello.
- 12:27My mother almost painted. It's a very cool thing.
- 12:30Our brother was like blown away. And yeah, I felt like $1,000,000
- 12:34here. I am.
- 12:35I'm surprised that our brother was our mitzvah actually got the
- 12:37idea of maybe. OK, all good.
- 12:41My my living quarters, as I mentioned in the speech
- 12:43yesterday, where I stayed, stayed right next to the quota
- 12:45and a Palmer X to the quota. Our brothers on mitzvah was
- 12:48going to be at the quota. So he tells me, he says, well,
- 12:53sure, it's tomorrow, Monday. This past week you were a
- 12:55million and a half promises. Can you they say they're
- 12:59reserving me a spot by the quota.
- 13:01No, maybe you'll be there early because you you're living right
- 13:03next to the quota he reserves. But I said sure, I'll plan on
- 13:06getting up at 7:00. I'll save a spot.
- 13:09OK. And I'll be honest with you.
- 13:12I that night I went to sleep, my baby was with us was up from
- 13:172:00 to 6:00 AM All right, and I was being a good nice husband on
- 13:22the trip. The part of the husband part of
- 13:24the trip was to be a good husband.
- 13:25Say here I am, I'm with the baby.
- 13:28I sat there, I learnt the baby stayed up trying to let my wife
- 13:32go to sleep. She didn't sleep either.
- 13:34Then eventually the baby stops, baby go to sleep and put my head
- 13:38down and now they're calling me off the hook.
- 13:43OK, I didn't know this. Eventually at a certain time, I
- 13:47get the 10, the whatever phone call was for my sister.
- 13:51It's ready 8:50 in the morning. OK, where are you?
- 13:56What's going on? The truth is, is I hadn't
- 13:58started praying yet because there's just chaos.
- 14:01But when I got there eventually a nine O 5, whatever is going to
- 14:04thank God my apartment is right. I said the quota could just wake
- 14:06up, jump, get dressed and run out to the quota.
- 14:10But I got there there in the middle of praying and I'm seeing
- 14:13the whole community. The whole community was there on
- 14:15that Monday morning. Literally.
- 14:17It was more than Sharat Sierra. I'm not not exaggerating.
- 14:19It felt like Sharat Sierra, OK, anyone was in the Citadel on our
- 14:23trip and it was that anyone was by the court on Monday or even
- 14:26Thursday knows that. It felt crazy.
- 14:29I've seen so many people now, a lot of people, community people.
- 14:33I'm rabbi. I can't make it look like I'm
- 14:35just trying to pray now at 9:15 and I'll make it look like I'm
- 14:40praying already. But the truth is someone came up
- 14:42with me with a question and in the middle of praying, catching
- 14:46up, it was chaos. So I'm there, I'm debating, what
- 14:49do I do? Do I like, you know, kind of
- 14:51sketch it? And what did I tell him?
- 14:52I said, I said, look, I showed him my sweetheart.
- 14:55I said, look, Hallelujah is them.
- 14:57You know, this guy is a student, a kid who probably thinks
- 15:00they're supposed to be, you know, Nets at the court.
- 15:02They'll every day. He probably thinks and here I
- 15:04have 9:15 at the court. But you got to be honest.
- 15:07And you know what, what's so bad?
- 15:09What's what's make a difference? But as an example, where you
- 15:12have a debate, should you be honest and you might say to
- 15:16yourself, you have 1000 rationales as to why you might
- 15:20sketch it, why you're a rabbi. That's I they're expecting to
- 15:25you, you know, to do a Tikku Katsura Dakota, let alone Nets
- 15:30Delphi 9915, right? Where was his spot at the end?
- 15:33And my brother got some some sketchy spot.
- 15:35Has he It was rough that Monday. Forget if you saw the chaos, but
- 15:40did you feel like your your bar mitzvah was crazy?
- 15:43Monday was nuts. Any bump?
- 15:46It's on Monday. Every Kazan was overshooting the
- 15:49other Kazan. Every person was was pretty much
- 15:51pushing for a spot. It was crazy.
- 15:54But the overall point is, is that you can line or you can say
- 15:58the truth and it feels often as a cute example.
- 16:01But technically speaking, it feels often like it may be the
- 16:04right thing to do, to say, you know, a little white line to
- 16:07sketch it a little bit. We all love to sketch, but he's
- 16:09telling you, you might want to manufacture how you look.
- 16:13Let's be very real. A lot of people try to create a
- 16:18certain persona that is above human.
- 16:22OK? Many leaders, many official
- 16:26leaders try to make themselves look like and are really human
- 16:31and there's something very special, yada yada.
- 16:34And being from the other side of the picture, I know how that
- 16:37looks. The truth is, everybody's human.
- 16:40Everybody is normal and the more you get used to creating this
- 16:43persona, the more you become addicted.
- 16:46Really dependent on that saying harder guess, harder guess.
- 16:51You have to live up their image. Every single human being on the
- 16:55planet Earth has a marriage. If they're married, has a
- 16:58marriage that they have to work on.
- 17:00Every single parent has raising children.
- 17:03That's an avodah. OK, I'll give you a classic
- 17:05example. I went to one of the biggest
- 17:08Russian Shivas in Israel today. I'm not going to say his name.
- 17:12Maybe he's not so proper to say this.
- 17:13He has one of the biggest issue. She was in Israel.
- 17:16Top three. OK, Somehow usually it's
- 17:19impossible to get into rabbis. No, it's different one, if you
- 17:23don't say the last name, he right there.
- 17:25OK, tops. He literally and I somehow just
- 17:28called up the rabbi's house and he answered the phone.
- 17:30I say, can I come? OK, so one of my questions to
- 17:34him was, you know, I said he says, what are you talking
- 17:37about? I said talking about being a
- 17:38rabbi. Different questions.
- 17:39One of my questions to him was the balance.
- 17:43So is my biggest question the balance of being a rabbi and
- 17:45raising children? It's a very hard balance.
- 17:48Any area of, of public work, it's hard.
- 17:51Any, in fact, even a very busy businessman has the same
- 17:55question. The balance of doing what you do
- 17:57and raising children. I'm talking about it.
- 18:00So he tells me, he says got money.
- 18:05Let's say he says the truth is you find you.
- 18:07You're find over time, the middle of the road is I face the
- 18:10same problem. I face the same challenge in my
- 18:13own life. Now, if you're a big deal like
- 18:16this rabbi is, this rabbi is in all the pictures of all those
- 18:21major meetings, I'm serious. He's one of the top in Israel.
- 18:27He's defined as one of the top and at least top five, maybe
- 18:30even top three. He's all those major meetings.
- 18:33His word is a very big deal, all that stuff.
- 18:36I'm assuming some people look at him like, you know, wow, has he
- 18:40Shiva over 1000 students and they're not expecting him to say
- 18:46God money. I too have the same struggle
- 18:49when it comes to raising children along with being a
- 18:51rabbi. They're not expecting that.
- 18:53That means they're expecting him to say some sort of one line
- 18:56that says, you know, you do only work and it all works itself
- 19:00out. Or look at my children.
- 19:02They're, you know, working on clouds.
- 19:03No, my children had the same problem.
- 19:05I had the same problem, right. And what that tells you is, is
- 19:09that every single great person is super duper human.
- 19:13I know this from the other side of the thing.
- 19:15Watching these people and, and dealing with these people is the
- 19:18truth. But you know, what's funny is
- 19:20that certain people, certain regular people look at certain
- 19:25leaders and they think that they're superhuman.
- 19:27And when they have a problem with them, they're super
- 19:30bothered. They're very disappointed
- 19:33because they say, I expected more.
- 19:35You do expect great people to be great people.
- 19:37That's fair. But don't expect them to be
- 19:39angels and devil. Don't expect them to have, you
- 19:42know, above human lives. They have marriages, they have
- 19:47raising children. They have struggles financially.
- 19:50They have struggles with their siblings, they have struggles in
- 19:52their home. They have all the regular
- 19:55development that every person has.
- 19:56That doesn't mean they're not great.
- 19:58It just means they're real. But the fake persona that we
- 20:01tried to create, for whatever reason, it makes us happier to
- 20:04believe that great people are angels.
- 20:06They're not. They're great people.
- 20:08They are very special, but they are what they are.
- 20:12You know, the greatest examples are our leaders.
- 20:14Why does the Tara make every one of our great leaders so human?
- 20:20When the truth of the matter is they really were way bigger than
- 20:22that. You know, if we go to Marsha
- 20:24Banu, Davida Mehler, Shulamar Mehler, right?
- 20:27Leuven, Shimon Levi, you die yourself.
- 20:33Why does the Tara make them so humor?
- 20:34They were way more special than our Tara projects them.
- 20:38They were way higher level. And then the Tara gives us all
- 20:40these stories of the human life. It's not to criticize them.
- 20:46It's not to even question them. The fact that Kemala tells us
- 20:51anyone who says any of those men sin.
- 20:52Now you look at the Reuvenge story, you think he's sin.
- 20:55You look at the Shilla Moammala story, you think he's sin.
- 20:57The Kemal says anyone who thinks these men sin and or Ella Toy,
- 21:01you're making a mistake. So why would you mislead me,
- 21:04Tuda? Why would you leave me down the
- 21:06road to believe that made mistakes when he's telling me
- 21:15they didn't make mistakes? Why would they tell us, say a
- 21:16story? It's my own opinion.
- 21:18Why would they say a story of these people that makes them
- 21:21seem so human when they're so bigger than human, so larger
- 21:25than that and so great in that? Why would you show me their in a
- 21:29certain sense of limited side? I believe the reason is, is that
- 21:32you don't believe that people are meant to be something bigger
- 21:38than life. They're meant to be a very big
- 21:40deal. And they are great people and
- 21:42they did have angels with them, but they were people.
- 21:45We tried to project a fake existence.
- 21:48What we're trying to do is live a life.
- 21:50And when you try to live a lie, you're making yourself, instead
- 21:54of making yourself happier and in a certain sense portraying
- 21:57more success and, you know, working things out there, really
- 22:01what you're doing is putting yourself in a more limited
- 22:05position. A, you become dependent on that
- 22:08lie and you become necessary to constantly feed into that light,
- 22:13and B, you lose the help of Hashem.
- 22:16Hashem likes people who are like Him and like his Torah, and
- 22:20those who speak the truth, those who admit their mistakes, those
- 22:23who don't make them look like they're perfect in every way.
- 22:26Those people, they have God's assistance.
- 22:28They're the people who have Hashem with them at all times
- 22:31because they're being like God. They are carrying the seal of
- 22:36truth. So you have two choices.
- 22:38Either you can portray a fake existence and think you're going
- 22:42to make success for yourself because you're making an image,
- 22:45or you can be honest with those around you, your family and
- 22:49people who ask you questions and things like that, and you have
- 22:52instead less of your own creative existence, more of
- 22:56Hashem's help with you. That's the idea.
- 22:59Start with this.
