- 0:00Remember Eric Trump when he came to ECAP and he was the keynote
- 0:03speaker? First thing he gets up there,
- 0:05he's like, all right, you guys probably all know me as the
- 0:07Shabbos girl. Did he say that?
- 0:09I didn't know that. Yeah, he said that Ivanka Trump,
- 0:11anytime she needs to go up an elevator on Shabbos, she has him
- 0:14push the button. You know your business or she.
- 0:22None of your business, Michael. It's the None of Your Business
- 0:25podcast hosted by Michael Anoshi.
- 0:31Welcome back everybody, to another amazing new episode of
- 0:37the None of Your Business Podcast.
- 0:38I'm your host, Michael Greenfield, joined by Oshie
- 0:40Schwartz and we are sponsored by our production team, Prime
- 0:43Source and proudly sponsored by Serenity Health Center in
- 0:47Rockland County. Today we're doing something a
- 0:49little bit unique for those of you watching.
- 0:51By the way, 20% of our viewership right now is watching
- 0:54us on video. The rest are on like Apple,
- 0:56Spotify, etcetera. So they don't see this, but we
- 0:58have new chairs, a new coffee table, the candle is back.
- 1:02I'm very excited about that. And we're joined by not so much
- 1:06a guest, sorry Scott, I love you.
- 1:08We could talk about you all day, but a Co host and the point of
- 1:12today is to really just talk about hot topics that are in
- 1:16line with our interests, your interests, Oshie of sports, for
- 1:20example, my interests, for example, of traveling and music
- 1:24and both are interests of following what's going on in
- 1:26politics, Trump related and Israel, of course, hostages.
- 1:30And thank you God for giving us this opportunity to be here.
- 1:32Thank you, Scott, for joining us.
- 1:33We're. Going to talk about any of my
- 1:34interests, either snacks or naps.
- 1:38Scott, you are the friendly Shabbos boyfriend and I've known
- 1:42you over a decade. And are you complimented when I
- 1:45call you that? Sure, I'd like to be your friend
- 1:49every day, not just one day then.
- 1:51Remember Eric Trump when he came to ECAP and he was the keynote
- 1:55speaker? First thing he gets up there,
- 1:57he's all right. You guys probably all know me as
- 1:59the Shabbos girl. Did he say that?
- 2:00I didn't know that. Yeah, he said that Ivanka Trump,
- 2:03anytime she needs to go up an elevator on Chavez, she has him
- 2:06push the button. She's like, he's like, I've
- 2:07pushed so many buttons for so many Jews.
- 2:09He's like, I'm proud of it. I'm happy to be the the Shabbos
- 2:12guy. He.
- 2:12Was that's amazing. Uh, Scott?
- 2:13I'll be your button man. You call me that and Scott.
- 2:16We'll call you a lot of things because you're actually one of
- 2:18the funniest people I know in general.
- 2:19And you've worked at Medline, which is a company that sold
- 2:23medical supplies through our company for over a decade.
- 2:25And we had a relationship with with you.
- 2:27I remember the first time I met you.
- 2:29But nobody here knows you. So let's just at least get a
- 2:3132nd overview into, you know, introduction, if you will, of
- 2:36who you are. Sure.
- 2:37And now the new company that I work for, Parachute Health, has
- 2:39a contract with Prime Source GPO.
- 2:41What we do at our new company is for, for ordering DME, we
- 2:45replace a fax machine. So I always tell people I have
- 2:47the easiest job in the world now.
- 2:49So I grew up very close to you, 2 towns over a new city, knowing
- 2:55you through working with you for many years.
- 2:57Both of you worked with us, she for many years.
- 3:00And now I'm excited to be kind of back in the fold here with
- 3:02you all. I want to do my own little intro
- 3:05for Scott if I may. You know what ushi the floor is?
- 3:09I want to do my own there, but I think it's pretty interesting
- 3:11how you and I met. So I also, like you, worked at
- 3:15Medline and then Michael, you undersold it.
- 3:17It's not just a medical supply company, It's the largest
- 3:21disposable medical supply company in the country.
- 3:24Nobody sells more diapers than Medline does.
- 3:28They're actually a global company.
- 3:29They sell all over the world. Over 40,000 employees work at
- 3:32this company. I started working for them about
- 3:3510 years ago, 11 years ago. And I remember right when I got
- 3:40the job, I was like a little nervous.
- 3:42I was a little apprehensive because it's not a Jewish
- 3:46company at all. As a matter of fact, I was the
- 3:50only Orthodox Jew that worked at Medline while I was there out of
- 3:5440,000 people. I think that's you can consider
- 3:57me a minority, you know, at that point.
- 3:58I was the only Orthodox Jew before you.
- 4:00Yeah, yeah, exactly. He was, he was, he was the the
- 4:03closest thing they had to an Orthodox Jew was Scott Leopold.
- 4:07So I remember when I, when I got to Chicago, which is where
- 4:10Medline is headquartered, you know, they bring the new reps,
- 4:13they bring them in for training. They train them in person for a
- 4:16couple of weeks. So I get there, I get to
- 4:19Chicago, I, you know, head out to the hotel and then the next
- 4:22morning, you know, I was going to be training.
- 4:23I'm nervous and I'm like, I don't know anybody.
- 4:26I just pretty much know the guy that hired me and that's it.
- 4:29So when I get to the hotel and I see someone standing by the
- 4:34front door of the hotel and I guess Scott, you were there at
- 4:37the time, not for training. You already worked at Medline,
- 4:39but you were there for something else.
- 4:41They do continued education as well.
- 4:43So you were also there. And as I'm walking by and be
- 4:46like, he stops to me. He's like, Hey, what's up?
- 4:48You know, And you know, we, we start talking, we get, we get
- 4:51introduced and he made me feel comfortable, like within
- 4:54minutes, you know, and he, he realized, you know, that was
- 4:56brand new and he gave me a little bit of comfort.
- 5:00It was a comforting moment for me and we became fast, fast
- 5:04friends. I want to say that Scott was not
- 5:06just my friend at Medline. We became personal friends
- 5:09outside the scope or just just work.
- 5:11And Scott was, you know, a big part of me in the beginning,
- 5:15integrating into, for me, what was a new culture.
- 5:18It was very difficult for me in the beginning, but Scott's one
- 5:22of those guys that he can get along with pretty much anybody.
- 5:26He has that type of personality and he's very likable and people
- 5:29love being around him. And also, I'll say this, Scott,
- 5:31and I'll end with this. Scott is someone who just sees
- 5:35things in a very positive way. It's hard to to get him down.
- 5:39And his sense of humor is appreciated by all.
- 5:41So anytime we had an event at Medline, you know, Scott would
- 5:44always keep things interesting and he would, he would be very,
- 5:47very funny. So we we appreciate it.
- 5:49I think I appreciate the friendship.
- 5:51I really do. Yeah.
- 5:51I love that. By the way, thanks for that
- 5:53background. I think it's awesome.
- 7:13Just for the record, the how there's a lot of non Jewish
- 7:16people who do business with us that are enjoying this podcast,
- 7:18for example, because they like to learn about our culture,
- 7:21right? And they're learning about it
- 7:22while they're doing business with us.
- 7:23I think it's fascinating how an Orthodox Jew went to a company
- 7:26that is founded by Jews, by the way, for predominantly not
- 7:30Jewish run. And that idea is very cool.
- 7:33Like, for example, I was just reading recently about new
- 7:35Orthodox Jewish police officers that joined the Police
- 7:38Department and it's different. You need different, right?
- 7:41Like, you know. You think they'll learn a lot of
- 7:42ways, but also very different. Yeah, like you got to get pulled
- 7:44over by someone, a police officer wearing a keeper.
- 7:47I'm not sure how it's going to go either way.
- 7:49Either it's going to go great or it's going to be terrible.
- 7:51I'm not sure. Should I pull out my badge if I
- 7:53pull out my PBA card? But that whole process is
- 7:55interesting. It's just, I wanted to point
- 7:57that out. But the other thing I was
- 7:58thinking is Speaking of Orthodox Jews.
- 8:01The Orthodox Jew Jewish community is actually the ones
- 8:03that benefit most from Medline. You know why?
- 8:06Because Medline are the manufacturers of those blankets
- 8:08that you get when you have a child.
- 8:10And they have so many children. You quote on quick over there.
- 8:14Good for you, yeah. I opened up a school bus shop in
- 8:17Muncie. I'm going to be the richest guy
- 8:19in the world. That's great.
- 8:21That's great. Yeah.
- 8:22So we have a great background of of Medline and who Scott is and
- 8:26I appreciate that. I, I want to get into
- 8:29conversations and topics that are, you know, we call them
- 8:31random, but it's really just like anything that we want to
- 8:34talk about that's happening in our world, like I said earlier.
- 8:38But first, before we do that, Michael, I was about to say, but
- 8:40first I want to ask you if there's anything you want to
- 8:41bring up. I only want to bring up
- 8:42something because it literally just happened last night.
- 8:44Go for it. It just happened last night.
- 8:45And I was actually very intrigued by it.
- 8:48And this is going on for quite a long time and you may not know
- 8:51about this and others may not know about this as well.
- 8:53But Donald Trump was president. I thought it was.
- 8:56I thought it was really, really cool and really nice and I
- 8:57appreciate it. So I want to share what I
- 9:00experienced. I went to a wedding last night
- 9:02in Lakewood, OK Lakewood is has a lot of notoriety.
- 9:05Yeah. A.
- 9:06Lot of Scott, you're familiar with Lakewood there?
- 9:08Yeah. It's part of the Bermuda
- 9:09Triangle, Yeah. Muncie, Brooklyn.
- 9:12Lakewood. Exactly.
- 9:14And Lakewood's become like the hub for, you know, healthcare
- 9:17and there's a lot of operators who have their offices over.
- 9:20There and just like Muncie grew to be Spring Valley and Ramapo,
- 9:26Lakewood's grown to be the community's grown to be outside
- 9:29of that as well, Toms River, etcetera.
- 9:30Look at this guy. He's literally up to date.
- 9:32He's up to speed. And stomach geography.
- 9:34Yeah, and you're right. They're expanding like crazy.
- 9:37Like they're just, it keeps evolving.
- 9:39And now they're expanding into Brick, NJ as well.
- 9:41Like they're really starting to go out even more.
- 9:44But great. Listen, they're growing and it's
- 9:46a beautiful thing. So there's a lot of families who
- 9:49live there. So there's got to be, I don't
- 9:51know how many weddings every night, but I'm assuming on a
- 9:55daily basis at night you probably have 30-40 weddings
- 9:59going on all at the same time. Pause.
- 10:01I'm sorry. There's a wedding hall that has
- 10:02two wedding halls built in one, the central kitchen, and you can
- 10:06go out from either door and you have one wedding hall in the
- 10:08front, one wedding hall in the back, Two parties going.
- 10:11I've been to two weddings. You know how they say you can't
- 10:13dance at 2 weddings at the same time?
- 10:15I did it in Lakewood. Continue.
- 10:16So in the same building. In the same building, how many
- 10:18people are at each of these weddings too?
- 10:20It's a considerable. Amount of close to 1000
- 10:22sometimes, yeah. Thousands.
- 10:23A lot, you know, I would say between 500.
- 10:25And OK, OK, which is a lot. That's true.
- 10:27Average. Yeah.
- 10:28How much is average in your world?
- 10:30I had 300 people at my wedding and that was considered.
- 10:32Huge. That's not bad, by the way.
- 10:34Yeah. Didn't you have a travel
- 10:35wedding? Didn't you have a destination?
- 10:36My wife's from Peru, so we got married there.
- 10:38And with that, you had 300 people.
- 10:40Yep, even though people have to travel.
- 10:41Yeah, I just wanted to know. I was so excited.
- 10:43That's especially a. Lot of a lot of people from Peru
- 10:45there as well, but a lot of people traveled.
- 10:46I was so excited to have a destiny.
- 10:48I'm sorry OSHA, we'll get right back to you.
- 10:49I'm so excited to get an invitation from Scott for his
- 10:52wedding in Peru that I put it on my fridge.
- 10:54And then I was, like, elated. And then I looked at it and I'm
- 10:57like Friday night in a church. Thanks, Scott.
- 11:00Yeah, so I couldn't go, but. But go ahead.
- 11:04So anyway, I'm at this wedding last night and it's towards the
- 11:08end of the wedding probably, you know, the tail end of it, the
- 11:10last hour when I guess all the, you know, the grooms, the the
- 11:14cousin's friends start to dance, you know, they take over the
- 11:17party. And also I see kids just filling
- 11:20into the hall, these like 1314 year old kids, teenagers, like,
- 11:24I don't know, 40 or 50 of them. And they just take over and they
- 11:28start dancing, not with the groom, but with the brother of
- 11:31the, of the bride, the bride's brothers.
- 11:35They start dancing with them. They put them into the middle as
- 11:37if, as if they're the center, you know, center of attention.
- 11:39And I, I found that to be a little bit, a little bit
- 11:42strange. I've never seen that before.
- 11:43So I started asking people around me.
- 11:44Oh yeah, that's very normal. So the way it works in Lakewood
- 11:47is if there is a wedding in the family and you have a sibling
- 11:51from 9th to 12th grade, then their whole class also attends
- 11:56the wedding towards the end. And they give like, you know,
- 11:59special attention to the sibling so they can celebrate with with
- 12:02them. And it becomes very rowdy.
- 12:04And it becomes, and sometimes he says you can have two siblings,
- 12:07one's in 9th grade, one's in 11th grade.
- 12:09So both their classes come. And if that happens, then there
- 12:11was Toshiba, who's the head of the school, he'll also attend
- 12:15and becomes a very big deal. And it was so festive.
- 12:18It was so like entertaining and and everybody was engaged and
- 12:23everybody was just, and I felt like, wow, this really just the
- 12:26energy in the room was was incredible.
- 12:29And apparently this is what they do in Lakewood.
- 12:31This is a very normal thing. And I've never seen that before.
- 12:34And I thought that was, like I said, next time I'm on the
- 12:37podcast, I want to talk about this because, you know, maybe we
- 12:39should institute this in in other world.
- 12:41Why is only Lakewood doing this? Like it's such a good idea.
- 12:45I think that we should. We should.
- 12:46Scott, what do you, what do you think?
- 12:48Well, I don't have to pay for this wedding that we're talking
- 12:50about, right? I say.
- 12:50I say invite everyone. This is great.
- 12:52Invite all the kids. Our weddings are very, very
- 12:54expensive. I mean, it's, it's you have 1000
- 12:57people there. Yeah, no.
- 12:58Imagine even 200 people a typical wedding.
- 13:00By how much is a typical wedding in your world?
- 13:03I mean, I think. You the night of the just the
- 13:05night of the wedding expenses. I would imagine 150 bucks a head
- 13:09or something to that. But that's for the food.
- 13:11I'm talking about everything. Is that everything?
- 13:12It's like I. Don't know a couple $100,000.
- 13:15Get out of here a couple 100 grand I.
- 13:16Think so? Yeah, really.
- 13:17That's what the average American spends maybe 100 grand.
- 13:20Probably that's what you spent on a wedding.
- 13:21No Destination is less I guess cuz people.
- 13:23But it's 300 people. That's crazy.
- 13:25You're not gonna talk about how much your wedding?
- 13:27I don't. Remember exactly.
- 13:28I mean, it was a long time ago, but and it was also in another
- 13:31country where things are a lot less expensive, right?
- 13:33That's. True.
- 13:33Have you been to a non Jewish wedding?
- 13:35Before I love. Non Jewish wedding.
- 13:37I've been to one. I've been to one Non Jewish
- 13:38wedding. Matt Cerullo.
- 13:39Yeah, OK, Shout out to Matt Cerullo, by the way.
- 13:42It's a friend of ours. The best, the best story we had
- 13:45that I have about being friends with Ushi was you remember the
- 13:48the BBQ we did at Matt's house? Yeah, so tell everybody this
- 13:52story. That's a great.
- 13:52This is a pretty good story. So we were having a barbecue and
- 13:55we only have one Orthodox Jewish friend being Ushi.
- 13:59And the company was having a BBQ for our team was like 2530
- 14:02people. Yeah, there's probably about 25
- 14:03people there, us and our spouses.
- 14:05And obviously we wanted to make her, she comfortable and happy
- 14:08there. So we said, oh, she what do you
- 14:10know, what do you need? What do we have to do?
- 14:11Can we just buy some kosher food and cook it up and.
- 14:14This is, mind you, in like deep Connecticut, like in Hartford,
- 14:16CT like, you know, there's not a lot of coastal options in the
- 14:20area. So as she's explaining to us
- 14:21certain things, OK, we can do that.
- 14:23We can do that. We need a separate grill.
- 14:24OK, we can do that. And then he gets there and he
- 14:27says, oh, and also the grates for the grill need to be washed
- 14:32in running water. And we're like, OK, I like the
- 14:35sink. And he got it's a purifying
- 14:37grates. No like natural running water,
- 14:39we need to find like a river or something.
- 14:41We're like what we're like. Well people are coming here
- 14:44soon. So we ended up taking the grate
- 14:46from this disposable grill that we we bought specifically for
- 14:49Ushi and going to like some running water we found behind
- 14:53the ShopRite and like a. What a real story.
- 14:56Yeah, it was a running stream over there.
- 14:59And it was like run off from like the street or something
- 15:01like that, but it was like. Yeah, but it LED into like a
- 15:04larger body of water, so it was good enough, I think.
- 15:07Yeah, there was like a shopping. Part.
- 15:08How did you guys react to that? We loved it.
- 15:10We loved it. It was like a journey.
- 15:13They watched me as I took the greats and I, you know, walked
- 15:15towards the stream and I, like, dipped it into the window.
- 15:17They're probably thinking like, this guy's wacko, like,
- 15:20whatever. They're just entertaining me.
- 15:21But yeah, this, I, I did what I had to do.
- 15:24And they were very respectful. And, you know, they really
- 15:27cooperate. By the way, there's another rule
- 15:28that's more important than this rule.
- 15:31And that rule is, is that a Jewish person has to ignite the
- 15:34fire of whatever it is that you're cooking, right?
- 15:37Yeah. I'm just a magic.
- 15:38I thought that's where you were going.
- 15:39I thought you were. Saying like we have to turn the
- 15:41fire on, you know, by the way, you know how that comes across,
- 15:43Michael, like as a non Jew, like, you know, somebody's in
- 15:46your house and they're cooking for you, then you can't turn the
- 15:49fire on. I got to do it for you.
- 15:50Like it probably makes them feel for a moment like a little bit
- 15:54like what? I'm not good enough to turn the
- 15:56fire on, you know, like how, how do you perceive?
- 15:59Talk about opening bottles of wine.
- 16:00I have an answer, but let's go back to the cooking thing where
- 16:03you were for a second at the BBQ simply because I just want to
- 16:06tell you that the ritual of water, I just want to mention
- 16:08for a second is a little bit like, wow, that's different,
- 16:11That's interesting. Lighting a fire, right?
- 16:14Like we said earlier, if you came in and lit a fire.
- 16:15But I just want to mention something, Oshi, so you know,
- 16:17for the future. I was stuck once and I bought
- 16:19dishes, and I was told that if you buy dishes that are made in
- 16:23the country of Israel, you don't have to actually dip them in
- 16:26ritual waters 'cause they're already holy.
- 16:28There's a concept like that that exists.
- 16:30Is that like an accepted concept that people practice?
- 16:33You know what? Someone can Google it.
- 16:34Will you know you're our other friend?
- 16:36Google this Michael. This is like an internal thing
- 16:38between. No, no, it's, I don't.
- 16:39Have I don't think you know Internet has data on Google.
- 16:42'S by the way Gemini through Google is up to date with
- 16:44everything, so you can not ask your local rabbi.
- 16:46But anyway, my point is I'm. Sure, the party city in West
- 16:48Hartford didn't have plates that were made in Israel.
- 16:50I'm almost. Positive, yeah, no, but it was
- 16:53it was a nice. I was just saying tip for you
- 16:55for the future, you can actually get a guy a non Jew and you can
- 16:59do an exchange, a money exchange with him.
- 17:01Yeah. And then he owns the plates and
- 17:03then you don't have to put them in the ritual anymore.
- 17:04Actually, an interesting thing about my culture that I've never
- 17:06told you is every time I do a podcast, I'm given $5000 by each
- 17:11of the codes. That's amazing.
- 17:13That's amazing. I respect your culture.
- 17:14Yeah, thank you. Do you practice everything in
- 17:16your culture? This part, I remember the first
- 17:18time we ate dinner together and I looked at everyone who was not
- 17:22Jewish and I said, OK guys, we have in our culture, we have to
- 17:24hold hands. They didn't know what to do.
- 17:26Everyone wanted to respect me, so they started holding my hand.
- 17:29I'm kidding. So that's always fun to do by
- 17:31the way. And I like where this where this
- 17:34topic is going. I'll just just finish that topic
- 17:37up. I'll just say that I always I
- 17:39never believed in much in my life, so watching people have
- 17:42strong beliefs has always been interesting to me and I respect
- 17:46having a higher calling. Scott, let's get into that.
- 17:49I'm. Putting leaving the papers away
- 17:51for a little bit. So what are some of the
- 17:52baselines though for you? Do you have any basic beliefs do
- 17:54you have? I guess my my belief is more
- 17:58I'll see when I get there. I don't.
- 17:59I don't feel that I need to have an answer.
- 18:03Interesting. And you know, you know what they
- 18:05say, they say like nobody's an atheist in a foxhole.
- 18:08Like, you know, when, when someone needs to turn to a
- 18:11higher power, like at that moment, like everybody,
- 18:13everybody. Does.
- 18:14By the way, they may say that I'm.
- 18:15Curious about the response Exactly.
- 18:16Yeah, I never have. I don't.
- 18:19I'm comfortable not knowing, you know, I don't feel that I need
- 18:22to. No, Interesting.
- 18:24I don't know. Like for me, Michael and Scott,
- 18:27I don't know what you know, I'm a religious person.
- 18:30I practice, but there's a lot of things I don't really
- 18:33understand. I don't even know.
- 18:34I'm just doing it because that's how I grew up and that's how
- 18:37I've been taught. For me, religion really comes
- 18:39down to a quality of life. Religion for me gives me a sense
- 18:43of community, which I think is very, very important.
- 18:47It puts values for me on on having a family and things like
- 18:50that. And I think I'm just happy
- 18:51you're for it in a, in a lot of ways.
- 18:54So, you know, I'm sort of like the way I look at it is I'm on
- 18:56the train and I may not have a seat in first class.
- 19:00I may not. I'm definitely not driving the
- 19:02train. I'm not the conductor of the
- 19:03train. I'm on the train.
- 19:05And this train is going through destination and hopefully I get
- 19:07to the same place everybody else is going.
- 19:09We're on the same train at the end of the day, but I'm somewhat
- 19:11in the back. I'm taking a little bit of a
- 19:13passive role, but I want to be on the train.
- 19:16You know, I don't want to miss the train.
- 19:17I want to be on it. That much I know.
- 19:19I'm on the same train. I just don't know where it's
- 19:20going. Yeah.
- 19:22I completely have a different opinion than both of you.
- 19:25I'm not just on the train. I am the conductor.
- 19:27I actually feel that each one of us is in some sort of fashion, a
- 19:31conductor. And if you're just riding the
- 19:33back of the train, you are missing out in life.
- 19:36That's my opinion. My thoughts is that I've chosen
- 19:40this religion as the right religion for me based on the
- 19:42values that I'm living. And I enjoy it and I appreciate
- 19:46it. And I'm living it up every day,
- 19:48baby. And I don't pray three times a
- 19:50day with a group of 10 people, meaning a minion.
- 19:53And I keep Shabbat and I keep kosher and I wear a keeper
- 19:56because I'm proud to be Jewish. And I love it.
- 19:59I consciously do everything I do based on my values.
- 20:02Thank you, Rabbi Speedbeck, my therapist, who've been working
- 20:05on this with me for years. But and I knew it existed
- 20:07somewhere in my DNA in my upbringing for years.
- 20:10And I had that in my and like you said, the house door next
- 20:13door to the left by me was an Indian.
- 20:15The house next door to the right was was African American.
- 20:18And we got along and I'm looking at their religion.
- 20:20But in the past decade or so, I studied it and I looked at it
- 20:24and I said, you know what? The Bible, I love the Bible.
- 20:25This is going to be my map and I'm going to be the conductor.
- 20:27And every one of us have got inside of and we're all the
- 20:30conductors. But I don't want to get too deep
- 20:32into it. But that's my philosophy.
- 20:33It's my look. So, and I'm very interested in
- 20:35religion and I studied philosophy is what I got my
- 20:37degree in and I was very interested in how, you know,
- 20:40religions came about and how they're taught and what they do
- 20:42for people. And I respect religions and
- 20:45respect people that follow. Really.
- 20:46Are you open to the idea of accepting God into your life one
- 20:49day? I'm just curious.
- 20:51If I guess I'm open to it, yeah. If something came or you know.
- 20:55Going back to what is she, is there, is there a foxhole that
- 20:57potentially you could be in that you'll say, Oh my God, maybe I
- 21:00should look at Buddhism or Judaism?
- 21:02No, but I do like Buddhism a lot.
- 21:04If I was going to choose a religion would probably be Zen
- 21:07Buddhism because it's more based on an internal feeling.
- 21:11That's really cool. I think there's a lot of aspects
- 21:13to Buddhism that I actually appreciate, and the Zen world is
- 21:17one that I also relate to a lot. The candles burning, it's proof
- 21:20of that. But I look at candles and light
- 21:22as spiritual as well. I like that we have different
- 21:24perspectives and we're all getting together here and we're
- 21:26aligned interests in our values of discussions of interesting
- 21:30topics that are in our world. I prepared something.
- 21:33Now what it is, is like a, you know, call it Russian roulette,
- 21:36if you will. You'll pick a number from 1:00
- 21:39to 12:00 and I'll talk about this topic with the three of us
- 21:42and then each one of you can go through either the papers and
- 21:44pick a topic or you could all play the one to 12 game.
- 21:48Let's do the one to 12 game these.
- 21:49Topics are topics. So I just want to mention
- 21:51though, these topics that I picked are interests that Ushi
- 21:54and I have. And for those of you listening,
- 21:56we are very, very different. Like you heard a minute ago
- 21:58about the train, the conductor. I love music, I love traveling.
- 22:02I love people, I love Expos. I love meeting new people.
- 22:04I feed off their energy. You may not like that part of
- 22:07that world, right? You love sports, you're a
- 22:09fanatic when it comes to information.
- 22:11You're a teacher. I read the room, I read people.
- 22:15I don't read books. Or she reads books, right?
- 22:18It's really a fundamental difference, I think, between the
- 22:20two of us, wouldn't you say? Yeah.
- 22:21I mean, I think each of us have a little bit of those things as
- 22:24well. Yeah.
- 22:24But I think that we're each extreme and the.
- 22:26Things great. So the 12 topics I picked is
- 22:28based on that. So who wants to go first?
- 22:32I think our guests will definitely.
- 22:33Go. You know what, Thank you.
- 22:34I appreciate. That I'm pulling one out of the
- 22:35hat. Let's go with eight.
- 22:36Wow that's so interesting. I I I'm not making this up. 8
- 22:40was my number as well like I was thinking when it.
- 22:42Comes to get out of here, I swear. 8 is my.
- 22:44Looks like I could read. People too.
- 22:45Yeah, it's pretty cool. OK, good. 8 is wow OK
- 22:50interesting cultural and entertainment highlights that's
- 22:53going on in the world and I'm gonna let's.
- 22:54Go to the next. 1 cultural and entertainment highlights.
- 22:58I'm going to give you, I'm going to give you a list here so you
- 23:00understand what I'm talking about and we could jump into
- 23:02anything I don't. Want to hear the list?
- 23:04I want to be surprised when we ask you for a number.
- 23:06No, no, this is 8, this is number 8.
- 23:08I'm telling you, the categories within #8 yeah, yeah, I'm
- 23:10expanding on, for example, Bob Marley's 80th anniversary is
- 23:14coming up. So Jamaica's going crazy soon,
- 23:16right? That's like a topic.
- 23:17I'm going to pass on. The the Jazz.
- 23:19Like that topic? OK.
- 23:21New York City is having a Jazz Festival, and I think it's
- 23:24important for everyone to know when festivals are and music
- 23:26festivals are where you can go. And I know it's not a big topic
- 23:28for you, but I love it. Right.
- 23:30So winter jazz Only one jazz club.
- 23:31Left in New York, too. No, there's more than one.
- 23:34Yeah. Yeah, there's plenty.
- 23:35Yeah. You know what?
- 23:36Go check it out. Blue Note Where else do you go?
- 23:38I I'm not a jazz fan, but my son is and I'm actually gonna go
- 23:43this weekend to the Lincoln Theater and they're, they have a
- 23:46jazz club upstairs, which is 1. Yeah, the Blue Note is great
- 23:48too. I don't know if you ever even
- 23:49know the Blue Note on Bleaker. It's fantastic.
- 23:52I love knowing that. By the way, I'm going to add
- 23:53that to my list. Purim is coming up, guys.
- 23:56That's here and I'm going to get straight into that.
- 23:58By the way, even though I have movies here and shows and
- 24:00different things that might be boring or not what's, what am I
- 24:03picking up on? I'm picking up on Purim.
- 24:05You want to know why? Because the first time this guy
- 24:07that I celebrated a Jewish event, he was a cowboy and he
- 24:12came to our party. Party.
- 24:13You know why I was a cowboy? Why?
- 24:15Because it was very, I thought you guys were lying about it
- 24:18being a a costume party. So I thought that.
- 24:21If I just wore a Plaid shirt like I wear often, and I could
- 24:24just wear a cowboy hat, and if it wasn't really a costume
- 24:27party, I could take off the cowboy hat and wearing.
- 24:30So what? Was that what I pulled up?
- 24:32So tell us what that was like. It was.
- 24:33Shocking. I mean you this was a non Jew
- 24:35that hasn't experienced perm before and what goes on?
- 24:38It's like the one day of a year that is our our we let loose
- 24:43beyond anything you imagine. And for an outsider, for someone
- 24:46not Jewish, they've never experienced it.
- 24:47It's got to be a crazy shock when you see what's unfolding in
- 24:51front of you. What was that likely?
- 24:53The first time I went there must have been around 10 years ago,
- 24:56probably 2015, somewhere in there.
- 24:58And it was, it's in February, March usually, right, right in
- 25:00that, that area. And I remember it snowed that
- 25:03day. I drove over to Neil's house.
- 25:06We were celebrating and again, I was like, God, these guys
- 25:10probably lied to me. They're probably messing around
- 25:11like the like the hand holding trick at dinner.
- 25:13Yeah, Yeah. So you're.
- 25:14Gonna sober. Everybody's gonna go Sykes.
- 25:16God, I think you're the only idiot.
- 25:18So. Luckily my costume was just a
- 25:19bandana and a cowboy hat that could be removed, but so I pull
- 25:23up and I see an entire marching band of like 10 year olds get
- 25:28out of a limo and walk into the house.
- 25:30And I was like, all right, I think they're telling the truth.
- 25:33Something's happening. I remember specifically a story
- 25:35happened though there about someone at the door that asked
- 25:38you for money. Can you tell us what do you
- 25:39remember this entrance? Speak a couple people were
- 25:42everyone was asking me for money.
- 25:44I didn't know what was going on. You have to realize there's a
- 25:47bunch of, you know, clearly stoned teenagers getting driven
- 25:51around asking for money for their school.
- 25:54And I started asking people, well, the money, we know the
- 25:56money doesn't go to their school, right?
- 25:58And they're like, yeah, yeah, we know.
- 25:59It's just part of the. Thing I remember, you may not
- 26:00remember this. I remember standing next to you
- 26:02right when you came in and it was like, you just passed the
- 26:05entrance and, you know, you bumped in through a few rabbis.
- 26:08You know, this Cowboys pushing it through a few rabbis that
- 26:11came to collect. And right when I'm standing next
- 26:14to you, a rabbi came over and said, hey, I'm collecting, can
- 26:18you give me $20? And you looked at me and he goes
- 26:20and he says I just keep the guy at the front door.
- 26:23Do you remember that? You thought it was like an
- 26:25entrance fee? And then I also tried to someone
- 26:27else was asking. Neil just kept giving money to
- 26:30everyone. And I go, Neil, I'll take care
- 26:31of this guy because I thought everyone just gets 20 bucks.
- 26:33And he goes, Scott, I'm about to write that guy a check for
- 26:36$10,000. I just put my 20 back in my
- 26:39pocket and walked away. Yeah.
- 26:41That was a great experience. But the other thing is I had, I
- 26:43had only heard about Orthodox Jewish parties before then.
- 26:47And I walked in and I only saw, saw men.
- 26:49And I just said, hey, guys, you know, I don't want to go to the
- 26:52wrong area. Like, you know, where are the
- 26:54women? I don't want to like, end up
- 26:56there by accident. And this guy looks at me and he
- 26:59goes, dude, you don't bring sand to the beach.
- 27:02I flip it up and I go, dude, you don't know what that means.
- 27:07Neil does throw a great party, by the way, with a great band
- 27:09and it was great music. And what do you think of that
- 27:12when you see teenagers getting drunk and collecting for their
- 27:15school? What goes on in your head?
- 27:16It was surprising. I would say I was, you know, I
- 27:22don't. It was surprising to see the age
- 27:26of the children that were drunk at the.
- 27:28Everybody's participating. Yeah.
- 27:29It's like, you know, age doesn't matter that day.
- 27:32We're all doing the same things. But what you don't see and what
- 27:35a lot of the people don't see, if you're not part of the
- 27:38community, if you're not infused and you know, and, and knowing
- 27:41what's going on, you know, behind closed doors, the amount
- 27:44of money that gets dispersed that day across the globe.
- 27:48I'm talking about Jews everywhere in the world are
- 27:50celebrating that day the same way.
- 27:52They're all celebrating it in the same manner.
- 27:55And anybody that is somewhat well to do, anybody that has a
- 27:59little bit more money than the average person is giving that
- 28:01day, but not just giving. I'm sorry I have to interrupt.
- 28:05Everyone is giving. I understand.
- 28:07But when I'm talking about the giving, now I'm talking about in
- 28:09big, large, yeah, but substantial.
- 28:11And he's add up. Of course, you know we're giving
- 28:13money. Everybody's giving money, but
- 28:14you know, you give $1000 for the for the day, the average person.
- 28:18No, but I'm making a. Point $1000 spirit you give
- 28:20away, but I'm talking about these people.
- 28:22And I'm gonna let you finish. I'm just saying the spirit of
- 28:24the holiday. And I don't like when people
- 28:25compare it to Halloween. I just say it's like a Halloween
- 28:28thing to non Jews who don't understand because the costumes.
- 28:31But at the end of the day, the whole idea of Purim is giving.
- 28:34Yeah, it's you actually can't go through for him without giving
- 28:37someone something to help them, which is amazing.
- 28:40Amazing. But continue.
- 28:41I'm sorry. I have a great story.
- 28:42I'll tell you in a minute. No, no, it's true.
- 28:43It's true. But the, the, the amounts of
- 28:45money that goes out that day is astronomical.
- 28:48And if you explain that to a non Jew, they'd be like, what?
- 28:52This guy gave out $1,000,000 that day.
- 28:54The next guy gave out $2,000,000 that day.
- 28:57And it's not just only one day in the year this person is
- 28:59giving, he's giving throughout the year as well.
- 29:01He's involved a lot of, you know, organizations and they're
- 29:04giving it to strangers. Well, not real strangers.
- 29:07You know, we all consider ourselves brothers, you know, if
- 29:09you're Jewish. But at the end of the day,
- 29:10somebody you don't know and you're not really vetting them,
- 29:13you're not asking questions. This is a line that's out the
- 29:15door and people have a minute, you know, 60 seconds to quickly
- 29:18share their story and and you got to check and everybody gets
- 29:21something. Somebody get a little more than
- 29:22others. But to me, that's that's always
- 29:24been astounding is that we have that type of camaraderie and we
- 29:28have that type of connection that money talks.
- 29:31All right, that's where it all you know it all ends is are you
- 29:35willing to put your money where your mouth is?
- 29:36And we are, we're putting our money where our mouth is that
- 29:39we're literally sharing our money with with everybody.
- 29:41I think that's it needs to be told.
- 29:43People need to know it. Goes back to, I think what's a
- 29:45probably what I think, what I respect most about the Jewish
- 29:49culture, which I Mike, we've talked about this before.
- 29:51My grandmother's from Brooklyn just like you are, Irish woman,
- 29:54Irish Catholic woman, and she used to say all the time by
- 29:57Jewish people, Jewish people take care of each other, really
- 30:00something that I think a lot of the world respects about.
- 30:03I appreciate you saying that. And I want to say on that note
- 30:04and taking care of each other, guys, Purim is coming up.
- 30:08Underage drinking is not only frowned upon, it's illegal and
- 30:11it should not happen. I'm not a fan of it and it's a
- 30:14challenge. And every year there's
- 30:16unfortunate incidents that happen and drunk driving, I love
- 30:21that people get limos because they recognize that they're
- 30:23going to drink anyways. So you might.
- 30:25It's OK. I'm not condoning, I'm not
- 30:26saying it, but it's a very big challenge.
- 30:29And I want you to know that I'm not a big fan of that in
- 30:31general. The drinking of underage
- 30:34children is is terrible. And it's something that Hatsala,
- 30:37which is the national organization that deals with
- 30:40emergencies for Jewish people, comes out very strong before the
- 30:43holiday of Purim, reminding everybody, do not drink.
- 30:47You know, like, don't, don't drink and drive, right?
- 30:50Don't drink. And Purim, you know what I mean?
- 30:52A. 10 year old's not going to know their limits, it's
- 30:53impossible. The issue is that part of the
- 30:56holiday spirit is to drink and the and this is my confuse the
- 31:00message that I'm about to tell you in a minute and Oshi, I'd
- 31:01love to hear your perspective on this.
- 31:03The whole idea is to give, but another very big thing that
- 31:06you're supposed to do on Purim is drink until you don't know
- 31:08the difference between a. Villain and the.
- 31:11Hero exactly. That is the whole.
- 31:13That's what you describe. So what to the point that you
- 31:15don't no longer know who's the villain, who's the Jewish people
- 31:17are telling their communities that when you're 13, you're a
- 31:21man, when you're 13, you're a bar mitzvah, and that's when you
- 31:24have to abide by all the rules of the Torah.
- 31:27And that's the map of our life, which I agree, but then we tell
- 31:30them, but I'm Purim, there's one thing you can't do and that's
- 31:33drink. So these boys that are studying
- 31:36all day, they make arguments to their rabbis and leaders and
- 31:40families that we want to drink also is part of our obligation.
- 31:43I don't have much arguments they're making, they're just
- 31:44drinking. What is the?
- 31:46Following suit, they see what's going on.
- 31:47It's so accessible, it's all around terrible everywhere.
- 31:50Everybody's drinking, so naturally they're just gonna tag
- 31:52along and they're gonna partake. That's what happens and you
- 31:55can't really avoid it much. And it's every parents job,
- 31:58Michael, to try to control it as best as they can for their own
- 32:01children. And everybody's got to do their
- 32:03own thing. I'm not here to tell the next
- 32:04kid what to do. I'm here to tell the next kid
- 32:06what to do. Don't drink and drive.
- 32:07Get a driver. And not every parent is
- 32:09responsible. Some people don't have,
- 32:11unfortunately, you know, parents that are responsible like that.
- 32:13So the kids should listen to this and should know, get a
- 32:15driver or you know, that's all. That's all I'm saying.
- 32:18I'm saying like, you know, OK, I'm not.
- 32:19Battling that. Not a perfect world that's never
- 32:20going to all right. What's the biblical back story
- 32:22for losing the distinction between the villain and the
- 32:25hero? There's no, there's no back
- 32:28story for it. I mean, they want you to be in a
- 32:30zone where, first of all, that day is supposed to be the
- 32:33opposite, right? Because we had a tremendous
- 32:35miracle. That's it.
- 32:36That's that's the. Part and therefore what was
- 32:38supposed to happen to the Jews where everybody was, you know,
- 32:40there was a, a death sentence for the Jews.
- 32:42They're all going to get killed. And not only did they not get
- 32:45killed, they actually came out on top and they became very, you
- 32:48know, a lot of good things happened to them.
- 32:50So the opposite happened. So to commemorate that, this day
- 32:53we do everything the opposite. So normally, you know, on a
- 32:56daily basis you're sober, you know, so today you got a drink.
- 33:00You got to be the opposite of that.
- 33:01That's why we dress up to be the opposite.
- 33:03Of we are differently than how we're.
- 33:04To commemorate that idea. Everything's about being the
- 33:07opposite. Right.
- 33:08But going back to giving, which we don't do the opposite.
- 33:10We exemplify the idea of giving. I do want to mention a quick
- 33:13story. We had an organization in
- 33:15Brooklyn when my mom and dad were alive that we gave food to
- 33:18people who just couldn't afford it.
- 33:20And we did it in a way of taking leftover food from weddings.
- 33:23Did I tell you the story before? I mean, I know about.
- 33:27You know about the concept. Yeah.
- 33:28So there's still a guy in Muncie, in our community.
- 33:30His name is Benny Wexler, and he has an organization.
- 33:32He's a great grandfather. And he goes to weddings every
- 33:35week, and he picks up the leftover food and he gives it
- 33:37out to the needy. So we did this in Brooklyn when
- 33:39my mom and dad were alive and my dad passed away.
- 33:42But my mom continued this process.
- 33:44And one of the things that we did is we would go on the
- 33:47streets. And if anybody would collect the
- 33:49charity, I, as a young child, would say to them, I can't give
- 33:52you really charity right now, but I can give you food.
- 33:55And I could put you on the list to give you food.
- 33:57They would say, wow, that's amazing.
- 33:58Yeah. Thank you.
- 33:58And here's my address. One day I met a guy on Avenue J
- 34:01in Brooklyn. He sat in a wheelchair, and he
- 34:03was a very big dude. It was difficult to look at him,
- 34:06you know the type. Like it was just you felt bad
- 34:08for him, You. Felt terrible.
- 34:09You felt you uncomfortable. Exactly.
- 34:11It made me uncomfortable and I said to him, give me your
- 34:13address and I'll come. And he said no problem.
- 34:15Anyways, I went to give out the food at it at the his apartment,
- 34:20which was on Avenue H and the 7th.
- 34:21For those of you that don't know, it's like an area which is
- 34:23like back then, it was just the building itself still doesn't
- 34:25have air conditioning or working elevators.
- 34:27He lived, of course, on the 7th floor and the elevator was
- 34:30broken. So the first time I went up to
- 34:31him, I went up, I delivered the food, I knocked on his door, he
- 34:34came to answer and I got a peek into the apartment and it was a
- 34:38hoarder. You know, the hoarder types,
- 34:39everything is just sitting there.
- 34:41You ever see those cars that have people that have that
- 34:43everything in the car and you can't even see the guy driving?
- 34:45Everybody knows those types of cars, right?
- 34:47That was his apartment. And it was there was rats
- 34:51running around. It was disgusting.
- 34:52I felt terrible for him, but I was like, I can't do this again.
- 34:55And my mom said, no, no, that's going to be your shift.
- 34:57You're going to have to do that shift.
- 34:59And every week on Thursday, I'd go up the seven flights and I
- 35:03would be frustrated that I had to do it, but it would feel good
- 35:05and I would do it. It was Purim and it was 4:30 PM.
- 35:09And we were about to start the family meal when we're all
- 35:12together in our house. And my mom looks at me and she
- 35:14goes, we need to go deliver food to that guy on Avenue H And I
- 35:18said, are you kidding me? I'm going to deliver food to the
- 35:20guy. Now we're about to start our
- 35:22party. I called her.
- 35:23Emma said, Emma, come on now. I'm going to do this.
- 35:26And I was a teenager. I'm like, come on.
- 35:27This is like, I don't have patience for this right now.
- 35:29And she's like, no, you have to do it.
- 35:31The spirit of Purim is giving, and the ultimate giving is to
- 35:35those who are in need. And that is actually where it
- 35:37comes from, to give two people that are in need food or
- 35:39sustenance. And I said, you know what, fine,
- 35:41I'll do it. I put on my coat.
- 35:42I didn't have a car. I walked four blocks with a box
- 35:46of food. I walked up to seven flights and
- 35:48I knocked on the door. And sure enough that for two
- 35:51minutes he opens up and I said, here you go, happy.
- 35:53Poor him. And he looked at me and he goes.
- 35:55Thank you. And he?
- 35:55Slammed the door in my face and I'm like oh OK, that was weird.
- 35:59And I walked back. I said e-mail.
- 36:00He just wasted my time. He slammed the door in my face.
- 36:02I wasn't interested. Next Thursday I come back, I
- 36:05woke up the steps. I knock on the door and his
- 36:07daughter who I never met answered the door like a 2020 is
- 36:12a type of age. She opens the door and I said
- 36:15hi, how are you doing? I'm here to deliver.
- 36:17She goes, it's the Greenfield. There's no reason for you to
- 36:20deliver food anymore. So what happened?
- 36:21She goes my father passed away. So your father passed away.
- 36:25What are you talking about? She goes, the first time he ever
- 36:28got a gift on Purim was when you came on Purim to deliver that
- 36:33food. And the next day he died of a
- 36:36heart attack. And that that was the first time
- 36:38in the left. So I I wanted to say like, what
- 36:41was in the food? I had it too.
- 36:43It must have been very surprising.
- 36:44Oh my God, it's. Exactly.
- 36:46But it made me feel so good. And from then on, I took like,
- 36:50you know, I don't know, an oath or whatever.
- 36:53I promised myself that I'm going to continue feeding people.
- 36:57Pretty cool hearing that story now, knowing you, just because
- 37:00it's so clear how that shaped you.
- 37:01You know, you're such a giving guy now and you're driven by
- 37:05helping others and it's just interesting hearing that.
- 37:07Story Here's your 20 bucks. Well, you can see how it how it.
- 37:10How it shaped him, Yeah, no, I appreciate that.
- 37:12But that's that's the story of Purim in a nutshell for me.
- 37:14And did I ever tell you the story, actually?
- 37:16I heard the story before. I didn't.
- 37:17I didn't realize this was a story when you started, but as
- 37:20you started saying it, I remembered.
- 37:21You know what? Thank you for being quiet though
- 37:23throughout the entire story. You're saying that under Michael
- 37:25delivers high fat meal to sick man?
- 37:30No, I remember the ending of the story, but I held my tongue.
- 37:32But it's a great story, Michael, and you know, you did a really
- 37:36good thing. Maybe it's it's due to my mother
- 37:38and due to the nature of our religion and what we do, which
- 37:40is we're giving religion. Yeah.
- 37:42You know, the the club that we're part of and the train that
- 37:45you're on is the most beautiful train in the world.
- 37:47And we were given this as a gift from our family.
- 37:49We were born into it and we're happy.
- 37:51And that's what I meant very early on when I told you when
- 37:53I'm on the train, you know, I have lots of questions.
- 37:56I have some days where I question things.
- 37:58I have days where I struggle, but at the end of the day, it
- 38:01provides me with an overall sense of comfort, just knowing
- 38:05that I'm a part of something greater.
- 38:07There's a lot of it that does make sense to me, and I think it
- 38:10would be much harder not to have some sort of purpose.
- 38:13Like if I find out one day that everything is all a fraud and
- 38:16it's all one big hugs. Oh my God, I feel like, So what
- 38:18am I living for? So what do I need to?
- 38:20What's tomorrow? Guys, I like where this.
- 38:22I know you well. I know you well enough that if
- 38:24you did feel that way, I know how strongly you feel about your
- 38:26children and your family. And I, I think that there is a,
- 38:30there's something, there's more to life.
- 38:31There's something there. Yeah.
- 38:33That's important to you that, you know, you probably see
- 38:36through a lens of the, of the godliness of it, all right.
- 38:39But I believe, I strongly believe that if you know, which
- 38:42I don't want you to do. But if you ever lost your faith
- 38:44in a religion, I don't think you'd lose purpose in life.
- 38:47OK, OK, I hear. I don't know if I agree with
- 38:50that. So much All that being said, A.
- 38:52Little bit, a little bit of of of purpose has got to have a,
- 38:56you know, there's got to be like some type of.
- 38:58I'm putting my paper, I'm putting my papers back down.
- 39:00Scott, what's the purpose of your life?
- 39:03Mine's my family, mine's my daughter.
- 39:05What if you didn't have a daughter?
- 39:07Then there I probably wouldn't see so much purpose in life.
- 39:10It would just be getting through without, you know, hindering too
- 39:14much, without hurting people. That's a very unique,
- 39:17interesting perspective. And it's not.
- 39:18You're not alone, obviously. Yeah, right.
- 39:20Most of the world. You know, truthfully, I didn't
- 39:22feel terrible. I didn't feel an overwhelming
- 39:26feeling of. Purpose before I had a job so
- 39:29interesting. You know I I can talk about this
- 39:30forever, but we'll leave the commentators to talk.
- 39:32This is a very heavy. It is a heavy conversation,
- 39:34which is why I'm thinking the papers out again.
- 39:36Yeah, yeah. But I I would like to bring
- 39:38something up on #8 that he chose 8 and about something cultural
- 39:41or something that's. Interesting.
- 39:43We could. Stick to 8 all day if you like,
- 39:44as long as it stays interesting. I like to talk about how your
- 39:47son got into jazz and does he play jazz or is.
- 39:49He does. He's an awesome rock star.
- 39:51He he plays guitar and jazz guitar.
- 39:53Yeah, yeah. Is amazing.
- 39:54And he made me fall in love with that style of music when it's
- 39:58infused with rock or classic type of stuff like Etta James.
- 40:01And I like those kind of things, that kind of music when it comes
- 40:05to jazzy stuff. Yeah, but he's amazing.
- 40:07Yeah. And I'll let you know how it
- 40:09goes this weekend. All right, when we go out, what
- 40:11were you gonna say? So I'm a little bit embarrassed
- 40:14about this actually, that I have to admit this publicly.
- 40:16Can we guess what it is that you're embarrassed?
- 40:18No, you're not really. There's a we play that game for
- 40:21a minute. I like that.
- 40:21I think a. List of go through a list of 50
- 40:23things that we think we should be embarrassed I.
- 40:25Don't know how you got to pinpoint this particular one,
- 40:27but there's a guilty pleasure of mine that I really really enjoy
- 40:33and my wife knows about this and she always leaves me alone when
- 40:36these things happen so I have the the time to.
- 40:39Pregnant pause, please. Right.
- 40:40Let everyone guess what this is. Continue.
- 40:42Go ahead. So leave me alone so I can, you
- 40:43know, just exercise this, this guilty pleasure and it's to
- 40:47watch. It's to watch award shows.
- 40:50OK? Yeah, I was, I was keeping you
- 40:52guys suspense. You weren't sure what I was
- 40:53gonna say watching award shows. I'm talking about watching like
- 40:57Grammys, the Oscars, the Grammys, the MTV awards,
- 41:00different award shows. By the way, I'm with you.
- 41:02And it's, by the way, it's a waning thing.
- 41:05It's, it's very, the viewership is really decreasing over the
- 41:08years, especially as Hollywood has become more and more
- 41:10political, political, exactly. More and more people, quite
- 41:12frankly, don't want to hear their celebrities talk about,
- 41:15you know, which candidate they believe in what, which party
- 41:18policies they, they stand behind.
- 41:20Because it's all, it's all fake. It's all at the end, everybody
- 41:23sees through it. But calling it a guilty pleasure
- 41:25makes it sound like you're watching it for a different
- 41:27reason that others are watching it for.
- 41:29Are you just watching it for to to see who wins the awards?
- 41:33And I call. It a guilty pleasure because I
- 41:34feel gross about myself while I'm watching it.
- 41:37As to why am I enjoying this? Why do I want to see these
- 41:40people giving each other awards? Interesting.
- 41:42Like what? I know that I should be better
- 41:44than this. I know.
- 41:45That it's like reading a. It's like reading a magazine
- 41:47called In Touch or like. What is that?
- 41:49Is that why you're enjoying it? Do you want to see who wins the
- 41:52awards? Are you more watching it for to
- 41:53see what people are wearing or what the performances are or
- 41:56something? Like, no, no, no, not what
- 41:57people are wearing. I'm watching it because I'm in
- 42:00tune with a lot of the things that are happening, like with
- 42:02the movies, the shows and the music, whatever it might be.
- 42:05And I'm curious to see, you know, I also like people that
- 42:08achieve things. I like to see accomplishments.
- 42:09At the end of the day, these people have a skill set.
- 42:12There's no question about it. And they do it at a very high
- 42:14level. So I could appreciate that.
- 42:17And therefore, I'd like to see, you know, what goes down, who
- 42:19wins that's competitive. This is the the height of
- 42:22competitiveness, you know, winning the ultimate award.
- 42:24And everybody is aiming for the same thing.
- 42:26And these people put years and years into their craft, you
- 42:29know, and it's, and there's very few people can do what what
- 42:32these people do. So there's a component to it, an
- 42:35element like a game show. It's like a sport.
- 42:37I really, really love it. But at the same time, I realized
- 42:40these people are no different than any of us.
- 42:43As a matter of fact, a lot of them are actually worse than the
- 42:46average person. I mean, you go into that room.
- 42:50I mean, if you have to combine everybody's egos, there's not
- 42:52enough space in the world that can hold that because they know
- 42:55that they're accomplishing great things they're getting paid very
- 42:58well for. So they're all very wealthy.
- 43:00They're very elite. It's like they're almost like
- 43:02they have this own little club and we're all outside observing
- 43:05what's going on. And I find this whole thing,
- 43:08there's like two sides to it. One side it's, it's, it's gross,
- 43:12it's disgusting, it's horrible. I think they're all bad people.
- 43:15I think they have, they have, you know, terrible morals.
- 43:19I guess there's only, but then again, there's a flip side to it
- 43:21where I admire, I respect, I can appreciate what they're bringing
- 43:25to the table. So we just had the what was the,
- 43:29the Golden Globes? This was like 2-3 weeks ago and
- 43:32it's like a build up to the big shows like like the Oscars which
- 43:35is coming up which I'm excited. About when's the Oscars?
- 43:37It's like, I think it's in the end of February.
- 43:39OK, cool. Really March, something like
- 43:40that, I think, I believe. And that's a really, really big
- 43:43event, you know? And I'm like, it's just weird to
- 43:46me that I battle this and a part of me really, really hates it.
- 43:49And I feel like America feels very, very similar.
- 43:52I feel like there are people who want to hate it because so many
- 43:55things you could say bad about it, but at the same time they're
- 43:58doing it's, it's very entertaining.
- 43:59So do you like when they have a comedian like Nikki Glaser who
- 44:03kind of rips them apart? Yeah, that's.
- 44:05The best part? That's the best part of the
- 44:07show, the shock value, the the comedic part of it.
- 44:10Ricky Gervais, I mean, he's been doing it for years.
- 44:12He's been doing it and they kept asking it to come back.
- 44:14It's amazing. And so when you call it a guilty
- 44:16pleasure, do you enjoy it more when the person getting, you
- 44:19know, quote UN quote picked on is like squirming in their seat,
- 44:21not enjoying it? Or do you like when they?
- 44:23Yeah, yeah, I, I enjoy that. I'm like laughing.
- 44:25Yeah, I'm rooting for, you know, for the the zingers and the one
- 44:29liners. And but it's just like, I feel
- 44:31like they're living in their own.
- 44:32Little or the smacks. Yeah, I mean that's that was.
- 44:36Crazy. I'm just saying that's what I
- 44:37watched that was crazy. I watch it for the proverbial
- 44:39snack that goes on throughout the it's entertaining.
- 44:42By the way, I have to say I'm sorry.
- 44:43This is why I watched the Super Bowl for the ads, right?
- 44:46Super Bowl is coming up. I watch it for the entertainment
- 44:48factor of the of the crowd and and I don't think I think what
- 44:51Scott's trying to say. Also it's not such a guilty.
- 44:53Pleasure. It's OK, you know, it's pretty
- 44:54guilty. I think I need to be a better
- 44:55person. I think I need to improve.
- 44:57I shouldn't be watching that like I shouldn't be enjoying it.
- 45:00Like if you think about the conceptually what it is, it's
- 45:02these people that are out of touch, out of with real day,
- 45:06everyday people. Yeah.
- 45:07And they're just like giving each other awards about, you
- 45:09know, who's but it. Sounds like what you really like
- 45:11is watching them getting taken down a.
- 45:12Pack But why? Why do I love it's not just that
- 45:14part, though. I like actually seeing, you know
- 45:16who's coming, who's winning, you know, and I'm I'm keeping up.
- 45:20Why? Why am I keeping up?
- 45:21Can I tell you why, by the way? Because you might appreciate
- 45:23art, culture. This is good things.
- 45:26This is not a guilty thing. That's my.
- 45:29Yeah, I, I, I think it's totally fine to have things that are,
- 45:32that you enjoy that aren't some, you know, for an, not a hike.
- 45:36Yeah. For an educational purpose, I
- 45:38feel better. I feel embarrassed.
- 45:40About it, no, I don't. Think for you, it's a time to
- 45:42shut your mind off a little bit and enjoy watching others.
- 45:45How do you shut your mind off Scott?
- 45:47Similarly, watching stupid TV shows.
- 45:51Anything that you're into lately that you got addicted to so.
- 45:53To speak, I've been watching. So my thing is when I'm on
- 45:56airplanes, I like to watch movies and for or, or shows.
- 45:59And I find that I was talking to this to someone about this
- 46:01yesterday. I find that when maybe you guys
- 46:03found this too, when you're watching a show or movie on an
- 46:06airplane, I get so much more locked into it and so much more
- 46:09kind of bought into it because I'm only focusing on that.
- 46:12And you want to ignore the noises from the engines.
- 46:14Yeah, yeah. You're not.
- 46:15You're. Literally shut off from the
- 46:16world. Yeah, you don't want.
- 46:17To love it. You got nothing else to do.
- 46:19Totally dialed in, Yeah. And so I've been watching Dexter
- 46:22because I wanna watch the new one that's coming out.
- 46:24So I never watched it originally.
- 46:26So I'm. Watching that was a very popular
- 46:28show for a long time, a really good show.
- 46:30I didn't know there's a new one coming out.
- 46:32I wasn't. Aware of the issue that I have
- 46:33with these things is that I literally subscribe to six
- 46:36different programs and it's not enough.
- 46:38I know like I I wanted to watch the NFL and I had to be a
- 46:40Paramount Plus subscriber. Suddenly I'm like every.
- 46:43There's something new. Comes are you?
- 46:44Kidding me? Don't worry, Michael, you're
- 46:45just going to have it for a week and then you're going to cancel
- 46:47it after. The I'm never going to cancel.
- 46:48Me neither. No, but you ever say you're
- 46:51going to cancel it? Of course I say I'm going to
- 46:52cancel. I have 32 subscriptions that I'm
- 46:55supposed to cancel. But I have to tell you
- 46:57something. I went to ChatGPT recently and I
- 46:59told it the movies that I enjoy from a comedy perspective and I
- 47:03asked it to pick 3 movies and I watched 1 and it was the
- 47:07funniest movie I've watched in a very long time by the way.
- 47:09That is interesting. Tell ChatGPT the movies, the TV
- 47:12shows that you've liked in the past and ask them to give you
- 47:15good recommendations based on on on your your theme of what you
- 47:18like. What a great idea.
- 47:19What was the movie? I'm looking it up I.
- 47:22Made a huge impression on it. What a great.
- 47:23Idea yeah, no, it's it's it's with an actor that's an Indian
- 47:26guy and he's so funny and the the premise of the movies are
- 47:30hilarious. It's not even like, you know,
- 47:33it's the reason why I really enjoyed it is because the
- 47:36comedic value to it was really every 5 minutes I was laughing
- 47:40out loud the type that I missed the joke and I had to rewind and
- 47:43you know, but I'm, I'm gonna look it up in a minute.
- 47:45Yeah, OK. Yeah.
- 47:47Got to know now. Alright, Michael, can I pick a
- 47:48number? Yeah, you can pick who picked
- 47:51the last number. That's all right, Scott.
- 47:53Ask Squishy for a number I. Think we only have time for one
- 47:55more number, Michael, each of these the statements.
- 47:57That's fine. It's it's OK, It's OK give.
- 47:59Me a number between 1:00 and 12:00, but don't pick eight.
- 48:01I'm gonna go 1111. Yeah. 11.
- 48:05My birthday. My birthday at 11.
- 48:06What do you mean, your birthday? When's your birthday?
- 48:09November. Oh, OK.
- 48:12Fun facts and stories. All right.
- 48:15We could talk about, for example, sports trivia.
- 48:18We could talk about the fact that a kosher restaurant in
- 48:22Israel just banned smartphones. What we can talk about?
- 48:28Basically, no one's ever going to that restaurant, so that's a
- 48:31great marketing strategy, how to not get customers to walk into.
- 48:34People, yeah, I mean, are they banning you, having it in your
- 48:36pocket? Are they banning you watching
- 48:38videos allowed at your table or are they banning?
- 48:41You not allowed to walk into the restaurant with a smartphone?
- 48:44Did you know the concept exists with Orthodox Jews?
- 48:46Hasidic mostly, but more no. I was saying more widely
- 48:51accepted for Hasidim, you know, in that world, but the more to
- 48:55use flip phones. Yeah, yeah.
- 48:56Did you know this concept in general?
- 48:58I've heard are there people that you can't WhatsApp?
- 49:00I've heard, I've heard from some Jewish parents that they they're
- 49:04getting their children flip phones.
- 49:06They call it kosher phones. Yeah, Yeah.
- 49:09Which by the way, makes sense, right?
- 49:11I mean, Jew or not, religious or not, the we can all agree that
- 49:15smartphones is really a entrance way to to hell.
- 49:19Let's let's call it what it is. I mean, that's pretty strong,
- 49:22but it. It is that strong.
- 49:25It is that strong and we all have and we all use it and we
- 49:27all need it for a lot of reasons and it serves us well and it
- 49:30enhances our lives. And, but at the end of the day,
- 49:32there's a very dark side to it. There's a really a dark side and
- 49:36and it destroys people's, destroys people's.
- 49:38Lives and as children are getting phones younger and
- 49:41younger they're they're they just have the ability to be
- 49:43exposed to things that. Way fast.
- 49:45How do? You mind if I ask you how?
- 49:46Old your kid is. My daughter's only 7.
- 49:48Seven, when are you gonna let her have a smartphone?
- 49:50I don't know. Have you thought about it?
- 49:51I've thought about it, but I don't, I'm not there yet.
- 49:53I mean, we're not even close to her having a smartphone.
- 49:56If you had to guess the age, I. Mean she plays games on all
- 49:58those things but. If you had to guess the age
- 50:00right now at 12, I would say at 12.
- 50:02I think so, yeah. Wow, that's actually very young.
- 50:0412 full smartphone access to everything.
- 50:07Yeah, I'm not so up. And I'm sure by that time
- 50:09they're going to have even more controls they could put on.
- 50:11But I know there's like parental controls that put on those.
- 50:13I'm not, I don't have to investigate.
- 50:15Those just yet? OK, that makes sense.
- 50:17But. But I'm guessing the store in
- 50:18Israel probably is doing this because they want to make like
- 50:20something unique about them is that, you know, the, the, the
- 50:23wives are probably going to want to say, you know, let's go to
- 50:26this place because they know that this is where we can
- 50:28connect. There's no phone, no
- 50:29distractions. So that's going to become their
- 50:31like their thing. That's become their thing,
- 50:33right? I guess that's the reason
- 50:34they're doing it, right? It's not a religious thing.
- 50:36It's not like they're saying we don't believe in smartphones.
- 50:38Well, they're saying that smartphones is not good for
- 50:41society and we don't accept it, just like there are synagogues.
- 50:43So the auction. Gives a sense.
- 50:45Yeah. That's what it's like.
- 50:46You can't go to certain synagogues and pull out a
- 50:48smartphone. There are people that will yell
- 50:49at you and throw you out. So there's restaurant things
- 50:51that they're at the same level as a synagogue.
- 50:53Or yes, they're giving it a a world where you're saying you
- 50:56can leave all that behind, come here and dine with us.
- 50:59Yeah, I think, I don't even know how that's legal.
- 51:00But there's, there's, there's something to be said for a
- 51:03smartphone is OK, but there's also the opportunity.
- 51:08We've all sat at a table with people when they're sitting on
- 51:10their phones when you're at a dinner table.
- 51:12It's ridiculous, it's rude, it's not appropriate.
- 51:16But it it's, it's OK to own a phone and use it and also have
- 51:21the, you know, wherewithal to not use it when you're in a
- 51:25conversation with people at a dinner table.
- 51:27Yeah, it's true. I mean, that makes sense.
- 51:28People take pictures of people all the time.
- 51:30Like, you know, when they're sitting together, 5 people,
- 51:31they're all on their phones, you know, like that happens and
- 51:35that's OK. But you know, we have filters in
- 51:37our in our. Are you gonna have a filter in
- 51:38your house, you think? I don't know what that is.
- 51:41Wow. What is that filter?
- 51:43That filters what comes through the Internet, Yeah.
- 51:45Like parental controls? Yeah, just parental controls
- 51:48you're saying you're gonna have on the phone.
- 51:49Like you'll allow your 12 year old to have TikTok.
- 51:53No, I think I'd be able to no. I mean I wouldn't want a 12 year
- 51:56old being on TikTok. Do you think anyone should have
- 51:59TikTok? Yeah, I mean, if an adult wants
- 52:02to look at TikTok, I don't have a problem with that.
- 52:04OK? I, I do think that a lot of
- 52:05these things are, you know, just like you're talking about
- 52:09watching the Grammys. It could be a guilty pleasure,
- 52:11but it lasts for an hour or two hours, or however long that
- 52:14shows. On and then I move on.
- 52:15People get stuck in this TikTok, in these things for hours every
- 52:19day. You know, it takes, yeah, it
- 52:20takes, yeah, takes a lot. Of time I mean we're we're
- 52:24living in a world now that TikTok is a hot topic, you know
- 52:27and is it back It's back I use temporarily I use cap cut to
- 52:32edit all my videos that I work on probably three to four hours
- 52:35a day for things that I post that and cap cuts was banned I
- 52:41have no idea why it was banned but it was banned for like 3-4
- 52:43days an app that I need to use to edit my videos was banned in
- 52:47the United. States Is it also a Chinese
- 52:49based company? I don't know.
- 52:51Anybody tell me I I. What's that?
- 52:55There you go. Why cap cut is part of TikTok?
- 52:56Why was TikTok ban though? It wasn't because.
- 52:58It's a Chinese based company, China, because this company,
- 53:01they feel therefore this company is beholden to the Chinese.
- 53:04Do you? Care that somebody's watching
- 53:06your every move through your phone.
- 53:07Does that bother you? I've gotten past it, but it it,
- 53:10there's something creepy about it, I think.
- 53:11OK, so to me, by the way, for the record, I it complements my
- 53:15life. I actually like it.
- 53:16Yeah. Yeah.
- 53:17I want you. I want you to tell me what my
- 53:19favorite movie is based on my history.
- 53:21I want you to advertise to me. Things that I enjoy, I don't
- 53:23want to be told about. Yeah, but I think there's
- 53:26there's a slippery slope fear there that OK.
- 53:28Yeah. Well now we can show you the
- 53:29movies you like, but now we can also what I don't.
- 53:34Know I don't have a fear. For it, I know, but there's
- 53:35something scary about it, isn't there?
- 53:36No, not to me. I I see the background scariness
- 53:39of it, but we're living in that world where it's helping us, so
- 53:42I'm not letting it. OK, now it's sending people in
- 53:45China your credit card number. Yeah, but you know what?
- 53:47They could send people and borrow, park my credit card
- 53:49number. I'd be more afraid to be honest.
- 53:51Doesn't matter when it becomes a security threat, Michael.
- 53:54Yeah, Especially at such a such a national level.
- 53:59Everything has to stop. I don't care.
- 54:01That's the number. One thing Sure.
- 54:02So stop using Facebook and everything else because Mark
- 54:04Zuckerberg admitted that they were listening to us, wasn't it?
- 54:06Really fine Taiwanese. Yeah, that's not the reason why
- 54:08they're banning TikTok because of it.
- 54:09It's not that they're sure we know this is going on.
- 54:12No listening to us that's. That's that's a separate
- 54:14conversation. That's the security.
- 54:16Has nothing to do with the tick. That's not the security that.
- 54:18You're talking about because it's China, Yeah.
- 54:20Yeah, it's going into the wrong. China has data for of US.
- 54:23That's potential. Threats.
- 54:24The problem, yeah, if it's So what happens is let's say it's
- 54:27owned by just a private person in in China and China comes to
- 54:32that person and says the government says we want you to
- 54:34turn over everything or even by law, legally in China, they have
- 54:38to turn it over, right? In America doesn't work that
- 54:40way. The government can't just come
- 54:41in and they they got to go Warrens.
- 54:43They got to go through the court system.
- 54:44They got to go through it's a process.
- 54:46And China, there is no process. That one person is the whole
- 54:50process. And therefore, America, we're
- 54:52worried about that. So we want to have that control
- 54:55in here. We want to store all that
- 54:55information here. Do you?
- 54:56Guys know why the day before Trump became president, TikTok
- 55:00banned it and then came like why didn't they wait?
- 55:03Like what happened? You know about this at all?
- 55:05Wait for what? Wait for the presidency to
- 55:07happen and see what transitions You don't know about that whole.
- 55:10I don't know, look a lot a lot. I don't know the, I don't know
- 55:13the why behind it. All a lot's been going on since
- 55:15Trump took office and it's one of my numbers here, but I'm just
- 55:18talking about it because on the TikTok, he was literally openly
- 55:21negotiating in front of the media about how to create ajv of
- 55:26TikTok. I felt like I was watching a
- 55:27nursing home conference like shark like, Oh my God, they're
- 55:31trying to do J VS like in front of the world.
- 55:33And but isn't that the best way to negotiate?
- 55:35It's unbelievable publicly. Yeah, that's crazy.
- 55:37You know that I I mentioned when you had that kind of leverage,
- 55:39He has all the leverage in the I met an operator once, a nursing
- 55:41home operator. It's like it was such a rude
- 55:44thing to do, but it's genius in a way, but like, I don't think I
- 55:47would ever do it. I'm curious of your opinion,
- 55:49especially both of you worked for Medline and in the nursing
- 55:52home business for so many years. He brought in two competing
- 55:55competing vendors that actually sold a supply and he asked them
- 55:59both in front of each other to to pitch and say why they're
- 56:03different. What do you think about?
- 56:04That Scott, that's interesting. It's certainly an uncomfortable
- 56:07position for the sales. You ever you ever been in that
- 56:09position? I'm trying to think I've
- 56:11definitely been, I've never been in that exact position.
- 56:13I've been, you know, back-to-back meetings with
- 56:15people, so where I see the competitor walking out or, or I.
- 56:18See, we just had that recently by the way.
- 56:19They printed a badge of someone named Joe that works in our
- 56:23office and they gave him the wrong badge of a of one of our
- 56:25competitor type of people. There's no competition to prime
- 56:28source, of course, but someone that does something a little bit
- 56:31similar. We're like you're speaking to
- 56:33the other Joe, and we found out because they gave the wrong
- 56:35badge to us by mistake. I think that's very arrogant of
- 56:38that person to do that. To bring in two vendors.
- 56:40And at the same time and then pitch against one another.
- 56:42And quite frankly, if I was one of those vendors, I would
- 56:45respectfully decline and I would walk out of the room and say,
- 56:48no, I'm not going to do that. I think it's unprofessional.
- 56:50And you're putting two people that are in similar businesses
- 56:54and they're both sort of like death fights, like you're
- 56:56putting people in a cage here for my entertainment.
- 56:59You 2GO and battle it out so. Actually, I have a guy I
- 57:01haven't. I have a nursing home owner that
- 57:03owns 35 nursing homes in Texas and in Wyoming, and we don't do
- 57:08any business with him. And he just started learning
- 57:10about the world of buying groups and saving money, and he's
- 57:13making a decision to use our company or another.
- 57:16And he wants us to sit there in front of the other guy and pitch
- 57:18it. I'd say $15 million contract and
- 57:21he's going to make a decision between the two of us.
- 57:23He guarantees to make this and he wants us to sit there with
- 57:26the competitor. You're not going.
- 57:27So if I was forewarned about this, Yeah, he's telling me.
- 57:30Yeah. Yeah, you're forewarned.
- 57:31I could now make a decision if I want to do it or not.
- 57:34Yeah, I could say, you know what?
- 57:35No, no. For the challenge, obviously I'm
- 57:36talking about the guy was forewarned he didn't.
- 57:37No, he wasn't. I remember that story.
- 57:39He had to. He was basically in in the spot.
- 57:42He put two people right there and say.
- 57:44All right, that is a different story.
- 57:45You're right. But yeah, it happened.
- 57:46That happened differently. Also that was that was really
- 57:49rude. I'm doing nobody might decline.
- 57:50I still don't give you a 60 billions because 3 million
- 57:53opportunity. The bottom line is.
- 57:54What are you gonna do? I'm curious with.
- 57:55You and my. What are you doing, girls?
- 57:57Are worth more. Than OK, So what are you doing?
- 57:58Are you deciding not to? Go.
- 57:59I don't know if I have that situation.
- 58:01Right now, let's talk about the moral.
- 58:02Issue, I mean, it's it's certainly uncomfortable, but I
- 58:05don't I don't know if it. You don't like that?
- 58:08You don't like that? If everybody gets prepared for
- 58:10it, then yes, I don't see it to be a big problem, Okay, And I
- 58:13would probably participate. Okay.
- 58:15But when the way this guy did it though, no, I think that that's
- 58:18completely sure. That's gross, I think.
- 58:20I'm agreeing with you, by the way, believe it or not.
- 58:23By the way, there's consent involved.
- 58:25Anything goes, I don't care whoever you want.
- 58:27Like that's fine. I have no problem with anything.
- 58:28If somebody asks and gives that person the choice and that
- 58:31person has the right to answer everyone, I don't care what he
- 58:33asks, I don't care what he answers.
- 58:34Does consent involve everybody? Adults.
- 58:36Do whatever you want, who cares? It's difference.
- 58:39Agreed, unless you're a therapist.
- 58:40Yeah. Now when you put in the spot in
- 58:42that instance, you don't have so much consent anymore because you
- 58:45feel pressured. You don't want to lose the deal.
- 58:46So you're thinking quickly and you're you're not acting really
- 58:49based on what you're what you would really want to do in those
- 58:52instances. I think that's that's a bad
- 58:54thing. Yeah, right.
- 58:56Yeah, I agree. I agree 100%.
- 58:59Are you so shocked that I agree? Like now what?
- 59:03Yeah, the podcast is over now. You know what I didn't get?
- 59:06I didn't get to choose a number. So let's have up with you
- 59:08choosing, OK? But yeah, so you know all the
- 59:11numbers. I honestly don't know what
- 59:12numbers are which. I know that you said so.
- 59:14Give me the papers. You have a set of.
- 59:16Papers with that 11. I know that.
- 59:18Thank you. I chose 11.
- 59:19You chose 8, Scott. All right, Michael, go ahead.
- 59:22I'm going to choose one. You obviously know what one is.
- 59:26I mean that one you remember right?
- 59:28Wow, OK, one I didn't remember this one didn't remember this.
- 59:31No one is Israel and hostage situation.
- 59:34And yeah, I just want to tell you, I'll start off with saying
- 59:37that I just went to ChatGPT and ChatGPT and I have a very, very
- 59:44contentious relationship and it it really works well for me.
- 59:46And, and, and David in our office, our COO mentioned it in
- 59:49our company wide meeting and he said, I'm giving you all a gift.
- 59:54He looked at all of us and says, I'm giving you all a gift, an
- 59:56assistant, I'm giving you a personal virtual assistant, the
- 1:00:00smartest virtual assistant in the world.
- 1:00:02And it cost me only $20.00 a month, right?
- 1:00:04And he said ChatGPT and I encourage you all to use it.
- 1:00:07And he told this to me a year ago and I started using ChatGPT.
- 1:00:10ChatGPT told me that five hostages were released and
- 1:00:14there's only 10 left. And I said, are you kidding me?
- 1:00:17Aren't you web-based and connected to the Internet?
- 1:00:19Can't you check that again? And again it said, I apologize,
- 1:00:21I'm sorry, I looked it up and and then again, I had to ask him
- 1:00:24to find So to the ChatGPT tell me that Donald Trump is still
- 1:00:29only has been the 45th president and he hasn't been elected yet.
- 1:00:33ChatGPT web-based paying $20.00 a month.
- 1:00:36And I'm like, wow, this is very scary.
- 1:00:38I can't rely on this information.
- 1:00:39I can't rely on ChatGPT right. Although AI is making strides
- 1:00:43and it's going to half a trillion dollars in methods is.
- 1:00:45Not adding up for it doesn't make sense what you're saying.
- 1:00:47You want me to show it to? You.
- 1:00:48Yeah. If I type in the ChatGPT right
- 1:00:49now, Donald J Trump, who is the When was he?
- 1:00:53President, You know what? Maybe.
- 1:00:54Maybe he's. Going to tell me he was
- 1:00:55president eight years ago or 4 four years ago.
- 1:00:59Did you do this three days before?
- 1:01:01He doesn't. Make sense?
- 1:01:01Is what you're. Saying I know, right?
- 1:01:03Absolutely. I know.
- 1:01:03I was actually with somebody when it happened to me.
- 1:01:05And it didn't happen to me a few days ago.
- 1:01:06It happened to me yesterday. And that's two days after he was
- 1:01:09made president. My favorite part is we're just
- 1:01:13calling you a liar. I know he must have typed it in
- 1:01:16a certain way that it it it gave him the answer.
- 1:01:18Yeah, Yeah. But I.
- 1:01:20Sure, sure, sure. Well, listen, we get I I've.
- 1:01:23Used too blatant, Michael. I've used tragedy would have
- 1:01:25been called out thought this publicly.
- 1:01:26It's too blatant. It's What if I prove it to you?
- 1:01:29That's very flagrant. There's no way.
- 1:01:31No way, you're saying? Wait a minute, Michael.
- 1:01:33I just did it. And I just typed in when was
- 1:01:35Trump president? And said Donald Trump served as
- 1:01:38the 45th President of the United States from January 20th, 2017
- 1:01:42to January 20th, 2021. That's the full answer.
- 1:01:47Right. Does that not scary, you say?
- 1:01:49No, I I mine was much worse. No, no, that's not that's not
- 1:01:52you asked when was he president, right.
- 1:01:54So now ask it who is the president or something like
- 1:01:57that. You know, like.
- 1:01:59Here we go. Is Donald Trump the president?
- 1:02:01Here we go. I'm sorry guys, I have it right.
- 1:02:03Here I thought, this matters because obviously everybody
- 1:02:05knows anyway. No one's living under.
- 1:02:07A. As of today, January 23rd, I
- 1:02:10just wrote in Who is the President?
- 1:02:11As of today, January 23rd, 2025, the President of the United
- 1:02:14States is Joe Biden. Oh my God.
- 1:02:16He has been in office since January 20th, 2021.
- 1:02:21Well, it doesn't make sense. I'm missing something?
- 1:02:23You're not missing. Something they're a
- 1:02:24technicality. No, there's a bias on ChatGPT.
- 1:02:26I'm swear to you guys. This is frustrating to me.
- 1:02:29It's frustrating because I'm relying on it for information
- 1:02:31and then I I have a relationship with that.
- 1:02:33I'm yelling at it. You can't rely so much on AIAI.
- 1:02:36Is that's crazy. You can't rely on a web-based
- 1:02:39ChatGPT that you pay $20.00 a month that was created by a
