- 0:50Sean McAllister: Sean McAllister and Dana Roselli here with you.
- 0:53Sean McAllister: And Dana, we're into December and we've got a priority list of uh things in Vegas that you gotta do now.
- 1:01Dayna Roselli: Right, because they're gonna go away eventually.
- 1:03Dayna Roselli: And so we're like, all right, we really need to focus on this list this week.
- 1:06Dayna Roselli: Um, but yeah, we're we're back from Thanksgiving and we've got a full list of Christmassy things you need to do, starting with Miracle on Spring Mountain.
- 1:16Dayna Roselli: Sean and I went to check this out like the second day that it opened, and we did a story for our TV show.
- 1:22Dayna Roselli: If you want to see some visuals, you can go to our YouTube page.
- 1:24Dayna Roselli: All our shows are there.
- 1:25Dayna Roselli: But what a fun place.
- 1:26Dayna Roselli: You almost forget every time you revisit year after year.
- 1:30Sean McAllister: You really do, and it's so imagine like you have a giant bag of Christmas, and you just uh take it inside and you shake the bag, and Christmas goes everywhere.
- 1:46Dayna Roselli: Right, and it's all sorts of different things, nostalgic things, new things.
- 1:50Sean McAllister: And there's a Hanukkah a Hanukkah lounge in there, too, by the way.
- 1:54Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 1:55Dayna Roselli: It's a great spot.
- 1:56Dayna Roselli: There's stuff on the ceiling, things on the wall.
- 2:00Dayna Roselli: Anyway, we showed up, and and the owner and the general manager were festive.
- 2:05Dayna Roselli: Uh one was dressed as a snowman, the other as an elf.
- 2:08Dayna Roselli: I mean, they are ready for the holiday.
- 2:11Dayna Roselli: And it's been open a little bit now, but it's staying open until December 31st.
- 2:16Dayna Roselli: And we're talking festive cocktails, decor, nightly entertainment.
- 2:20Dayna Roselli: Should we just play the story that we did with them so we can hear from the folks over there first?
- 2:25Sean McAllister: Straight from the snowman's mouth.
- 2:29Sean McAllister: So the miracle on Spring Mountain is back here at the Sandollar.
- 2:33Sean McAllister: I thought I was showing up in festive attire with my green jacket, but Nathan, you showed me up.
- 2:38Sean McAllister: It does look good though.
- 2:39Sean McAllister: You went over the top, just like you go over the top here every year.
- 2:43Sean McAllister: I mean, what goes into turning Sandollar into the miracle on Spring Mountain?
- 2:48SPEAKER_03: Well, it takes it takes a lot of hands and um a lot of good attitudes to put this up.
- 2:52SPEAKER_03: It's like all day long, we get a big crew together.
- 2:55SPEAKER_03: It's tons of fun.
- 2:56SPEAKER_03: We try to get every inch, and year over year we try to one up ourselves.
- 2:59SPEAKER_03: And what did you one up yourselves with this year?
- 3:02SPEAKER_03: Well, this costume to start.
- 3:04Sean McAllister: Um, I didn't have this last year.
- 3:07Sean McAllister: And uh, your top hat, you're not gonna knock anything down here, are you?
- 3:11SPEAKER_03: I am.
- 3:11SPEAKER_03: That's why I'm trying to stand as still as possible.
- 3:14Sean McAllister: Thanks, Sean.
- 3:15SPEAKER_03: Thanks for not running around.
- 3:21Sean McAllister: For people who've never been here during the holiday season, I mean, tell me what they're gonna expect.
- 3:28SPEAKER_03: Okay, well, great music.
- 3:30SPEAKER_03: Obviously, the holiday vibe.
- 3:31SPEAKER_03: We put together some amazing cocktails.
- 3:35SPEAKER_03: Beginning on the 1st of December outside, we put together we put up like a 50-foot Santa Igloo, and we put DJs out there and some of my fans throughout the month.
- 3:43SPEAKER_03: And uh you have chef pop-ups.
- 3:45SPEAKER_03: Chef pop-ups.
- 3:46SPEAKER_03: So every Monday and Wednesday uh in December, we're gonna be inviting in local chefs.
- 3:52SPEAKER_03: Um and and they're gonna cook specialty pizzas that are off our menu, and we're gonna don't we donate all the pizzas that are sold that they bring in and and create for us.
- 4:01SPEAKER_03: We donate them all this year.
- 4:03SPEAKER_03: We're donating to the Nevada uh Childhood Cancer Foundation.
- 4:05SPEAKER_03: So it's it's it's for good cause and it's the right season to do it.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: We just love Christmas pop-ups, so we just keep coming, and we always come back here several times a year.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: This is the candy cane lane.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: It tastes like a liquid boozy candy cane.
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: This season just goes insane.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: We have 13 cocktails, three mocktails, uh, two shots that we infused.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: The Christmopolitan and the Snowball old fashioned are always our two best sellers.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: Two of my personal favorites this year, brand new this year, and one of our main staples.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: The new one is a strawberry grapefruit syrup, uh, with whiskey, a little bit of sweet vermouth.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: It's fantastic.
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's great.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: We sell all these cocktail glass glasses, and there's people that specifically come because they'll see online that we have a new glass, and they're like, Oh, I don't have that one for my collection yet.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: There's nothing else you could ask for in this industry than to just have people coming in to enjoy a thing that you're doing, and we get that.
- 5:12SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 5:12Dayna Roselli: That's like Christmas in a cup.
- 5:16Dayna Roselli: It really did taste like Christmas in a cup.
- 5:18Dayna Roselli: I was not lying.
- 5:19Dayna Roselli: So that's how it is.
- 5:20Dayna Roselli: And then, you know, we interviewed a couple people and they were like, this is like candy cane in a cup.
- 5:24Dayna Roselli: I mean, the cocktails are great, it's a fun, fun place.
- 5:27Dayna Roselli: And as we mentioned in the intro, it runs through December 31st.
- 5:32Dayna Roselli: It's at the Sand Dollar Lounge, which is right off Spring Mountain, and P it's on the corner of Polaris and Spring Mountain.
- 5:39Sean McAllister: And it's really close to the strip.
- 5:40Sean McAllister: So if you're staying on the strip, it's a really quick uh Uber ride or whatever to uh get over to uh Miracle on Spring Mountain, get there before the end of the year.
- 5:51Dayna Roselli: That's fun.
- 5:52Sean McAllister: Otherwise, you have to wait 365 days for it to come back.
- 5:56Dayna Roselli: And we had went we went on a day that was actually rainy and it had just opened.
- 6:00Dayna Roselli: And so, you know, it wasn't like super packed yet, and it also you know just lit had just had literally opened before Thanksgiving.
- 6:07Dayna Roselli: Because we hadn't even gotten to like post Thanksgiving.
- 6:10Dayna Roselli: And there were two women there that you heard them in the story.
- 6:12Dayna Roselli: Anyway, uh one of them said, Um, I said, Boy, I said this is a good time to come because it's not that busy in here because every time I come regularly just to go, it's busy.
- 6:21Dayna Roselli: And she said, I never met an empty bar I didn't like.
- 6:25Dayna Roselli: Basically saying she's like, I'm there when it opens, so that it's me, a few people, I get my drinks, I enjoy myself, and then I move on.
- 6:33Dayna Roselli: That's so funny.
- 6:34Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and then it gets more and more crowded around you because you can get your seat.
- 6:38Sean McAllister: Right.
- 6:38Sean McAllister: And as we get closer to Christmas itself, people really start packing in there.
- 6:44Dayna Roselli: They do.
- 6:45Dayna Roselli: So yes.
- 6:46Dayna Roselli: So that's why she was kind of like she said she hits all the miracle bar pop-up bars.
- 6:50Sean McAllister: So Sandler Lounge is off the Las Vegas Strip.
- 6:53Sean McAllister: Let's go on to the Las Vegas Strip, the north end to Fountain Blue, Las Vegas, where they are turning their oasis pool into an Oasis ice skating rink.
- 7:04Dayna Roselli: It seems like it's something that they're gonna keep doing.
- 7:07Dayna Roselli: It's back this year.
- 7:08Dayna Roselli: We actually went over on opening night.
- 7:10Sean McAllister: So, what does it take to transform the Oasis pool deck into a winter wonderland?
- 7:16SPEAKER_04: It's it's quite an undertaking.
- 7:17SPEAKER_04: It's well over 250 people that work on this project.
- 7:21SPEAKER_04: Vendors from outside Vegas, we bring in people from LA.
- 7:24SPEAKER_04: Same company that does the Super Bowl like uh staging actually does the decking for underneath.
- 7:29SPEAKER_04: We have to crane in chillers, two uh 20,000 pound chillers that we put on the roof.
- 7:34SPEAKER_04: Um it's it's it's about a four-week process, uh, but it's but I mean it's worth it because in the end you got you end up with this.
- 7:40Sean McAllister: Well, and those chillers are important because this is real ice, right?
- 7:44SPEAKER_04: This is real ice, it's an interesting shape, we can flow around, and you know, we hope everyone comes out and takes advantage of it while it's here.
- 7:50Sean McAllister: So obviously there's ice skating here.
- 7:52Sean McAllister: What else are people going to experience?
- 7:55SPEAKER_04: Well, obviously ice is here, right?
- 7:58SPEAKER_04: Real ice, but when we design this, we actually design it for the people that weren't gonna skate.
- 8:03SPEAKER_04: So it's free to come and enjoy the atmosphere.
- 8:05SPEAKER_04: We've got plenty of seating for everyone.
- 8:07SPEAKER_04: There's a full food and beverage options to come and hang out.
- 8:10SPEAKER_04: So when the kids go and skate, the parents have something to do as well.
- 8:13SPEAKER_04: There's a lot of boozy holiday cocktails to enjoy.
- 8:16SPEAKER_04: We have movies you can watch, we have uh carolers that are gonna come out and sing on various nights.
- 8:21SPEAKER_04: We obviously have Santa over by Santa's workshop.
- 8:23SPEAKER_04: There's a whole bunch of things you can do.
- 8:25SPEAKER_04: You can actually enjoy this ice rink experience even if you don't skate.
- 8:28Sean McAllister: Well, you had me at Boozy Holiday Cocktails.
- 8:33Sean McAllister: It is a great setting out there.
- 8:34Sean McAllister: Fountain Blue does a great job with uh the Oasis Ice Skating Rink and all of their uh the holiday activations on property.
- 8:43Sean McAllister: And by the way, through the end of the year, uh this is your last chance to take advantage of some of the locals deals that Fountain Blue Las Vegas has going on as well.
- 8:56Sean McAllister: So keep that in mind.
- 8:57Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 8:57Dayna Roselli: Definitely keep that in mind.
- 8:58Dayna Roselli: By the way, that was a senior vice president of entertainment that we chatted with.
- 9:02Dayna Roselli: Uh so just I didn't I don't think we even mentioned that, but he's busy over there.
- 9:07Sean McAllister: And you know who else is busy, Dana?
- 9:09Dayna Roselli: Who?
- 9:09Sean McAllister: The bad elves.
- 9:11Sean McAllister: The bad elves have been let loose on the shady grove lounge over at the Silverton hotel and casino.
- 9:21Sean McAllister: This is south.
- 9:22Sean McAllister: Uh on the yeah, like Blue Diamond, the I-15.
- 9:27Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 9:27Sean McAllister: Um, you passed the Silverton right there on the on the highway, but they turned this Shady Grove Lounge into the bad elf pop-up bar, and there are elves everywhere.
- 9:40Dayna Roselli: You I actually have never been, maybe years ago, but you went recently, I think last year or the year before, and you love it.
- 9:46Sean McAllister: I've been several times.
- 9:48Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 9:48Sean McAllister: Their their cocktails are also very Christmassy.
- 9:52Dayna Roselli: It's a fun thing.
- 9:53Dayna Roselli: And they have that um, and it's back, the what do you call it?
- 9:56Dayna Roselli: The camper Winnebago.
- 9:57Dayna Roselli: What is it?
- 9:58Sean McAllister: Oh, they have they have um what do you call that?
- 10:01Sean McAllister: Yeah, it's like a a camper in the Shady Grove lounge that has bowling inside.
- 10:05Dayna Roselli: Oh, is that that's fun.
- 10:07Dayna Roselli: Yeah, they have all sorts of stuff.
- 10:08Dayna Roselli: Elves hanging from the ceiling.
- 10:10Dayna Roselli: Great place for photos.
- 10:12Sean McAllister: It is.
- 10:12Dayna Roselli: So um, it's open Thursdays through Sundays at 5 p.m.
- 10:16Dayna Roselli: And this goes through December 28th.
- 10:18Dayna Roselli: This year, Palms is doing a pop-up too.
- 10:21Dayna Roselli: Uh, let's keep it rolling here.
- 10:23Dayna Roselli: They have a Santa saloon.
- 10:25Dayna Roselli: It just opened December 3rd, and this runs through December 28th.
- 10:29Dayna Roselli: It's located right there in the casino floor near Scotch 80 Prime.
- 10:34Dayna Roselli: So think of a Western saloon, adult holiday party, and theatrical spectacle all in one.
- 10:39Dayna Roselli: You like that?
- 10:40Sean McAllister: I'm thinking of it.
- 10:42Dayna Roselli: Well, as we speak, they got that going on over there.
- 10:46Dayna Roselli: So that should be fun.
- 10:47Dayna Roselli: The palms taking part in some of that stuff.
- 10:49Sean McAllister: And over on the west side of the Las Vegas Valley, that's where you'll find Tivoli Village.
- 10:55Sean McAllister: This is on Rampart near Summerlin Parkway.
- 10:58Sean McAllister: Uh, they've got great restaurants over there, so it's a good time for a night out.
- 11:02Sean McAllister: But they're also doing uh horse-drawn carriage rides for the holiday season, which you don't see really.
- 11:11Sean McAllister: I mean, I can't off the top of my head think of anywhere else that does that.
- 11:15Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 11:16Dayna Roselli: That's what we saw, and we're like, oh, that's kind of fun.
- 11:18Dayna Roselli: So something different.
- 11:18Dayna Roselli: Tivoli Village is so pretty anyway.
- 11:20Dayna Roselli: It's just a place you want to go and kind of walk around, have a coffee, go to dinner.
- 11:24Sean McAllister: Yeah, they get the have their lights, the string lights are out there.
- 11:27Sean McAllister: It is.
- 11:27Sean McAllister: So those horse-drawn carriage rides are going now through December 20th.
- 11:33Sean McAllister: Uh, it is a first come, first serve kind of deal.
- 11:36Sean McAllister: So, and the lines can grow pretty quickly.
- 11:39Sean McAllister: So if you want to get there, uh do it.
- 11:43Dayna Roselli: Yeah, do it and arrive early, right?
- 11:45Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 11:46Dayna Roselli: And don't forget, our strip hotels have all sorts of holiday attractions, pop-ups, so much going on.
- 11:51Dayna Roselli: In fact, the Cosmopolitan Chandelier Bar has a uh 'tis the season theme this year.
- 11:56Dayna Roselli: We mentioned the Oasis Ice Rink already at the Fountain Blue, the Bellagio Conservatory.
- 12:01Dayna Roselli: It's always beautiful and decked out for the holidays, but I feel like this year it's really, really nice.
- 12:06Dayna Roselli: They they put it up early and it just kind of feels a little extra.
- 12:10Sean McAllister: Well, in Dana, we were recently over on property at Bellagio, uh, and they have a store right next to the Bellagio Conservatory that is like everything Christmas, any decoration you want.
- 12:24Sean McAllister: They have Santa driving a Mercedes convertible.
- 12:28Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 12:28Dayna Roselli: They've got I didn't look at the price tag, but I brought my friends in there when we went recently after we had gone, and somebody was looking at an ornament and they were like, um, this is$110.
- 12:38Dayna Roselli: Yeah, well, hey, you pay for, you know, luxury, right?
- 12:43Sean McAllister: If you got$110 burning a hole in your pocket and Christmas is on your mind, that's the place to go.
- 12:48Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 12:49Dayna Roselli: No, it is a great story.
- 12:50Dayna Roselli: And if you do want something special, it's a great place to go.
- 12:53Dayna Roselli: And if you got the money, splurge.
- 12:55Dayna Roselli: Hey.
- 12:55Dayna Roselli: But yeah, Santa and the convertible, I can only imagine what that one cost.
- 12:58Sean McAllister: It was a big, I mean, that was a it was probably like a remote control kind of deal.
- 13:02Sean McAllister: Probably.
- 13:02Sean McAllister: They have Santa tooling around.
- 13:04Dayna Roselli: Um, this is not uh holiday related, our next thing.
- 13:09Sean McAllister: No, this is not.
- 13:10Sean McAllister: Um, it's over at Caesars Palace, Stanton Social.
- 13:13Sean McAllister: Uh, we've talked about it before.
- 13:16Sean McAllister: It's been a little bit.
- 13:16Sean McAllister: It's a pretty restaurant.
- 13:18Sean McAllister: It really is.
- 13:18Sean McAllister: It's a great restaurant over there at Caesars Palace.
- 13:21Dayna Roselli: Right next to Omni and Nightclub, right?
- 13:24Dayna Roselli: Right next to the nightclub.
- 13:25Dayna Roselli: Good spot.
- 13:26Sean McAllister: And they're kind of changing up their menu a little bit.
- 13:29Sean McAllister: They're focusing on Italian cuisine now.
- 13:32Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 13:33Dayna Roselli: And sharing.
- 13:33Dayna Roselli: So I guess they're going back to their like what their kind of standard is, and that's communal kind of dining.
- 13:39Dayna Roselli: And so um they wanted to just let everyone know that they are making some changes.
- 13:46Dayna Roselli: I loved this um a couple of the things on the menu.
- 13:49Dayna Roselli: So they're gonna focus, uh, as Sean said, on the Italian cuisine with um the curated selection of dishes designed for sharing.
- 13:57Dayna Roselli: Now, they have an extra crispy chicken parmigiana, parmigiana with San Marzano tomato sauce and mozzarella fondue.
- 14:09Dayna Roselli: What?
- 14:09Sean McAllister: That mozzarella fondue sounds great.
- 14:13Sean McAllister: So good.
- 14:14Sean McAllister: I feel like I could just order a bowl of that.
- 14:16Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 14:16Dayna Roselli: That sounds delicious.
- 14:17Dayna Roselli: They also have like a showstopping super tomahawk.
- 14:20Dayna Roselli: There was a lot of things on the menu.
- 14:22Dayna Roselli: But anyway, just FYI.
- 14:23Dayna Roselli: If you go to Stanton Social, beautiful restaurant, Italian cuisine now, a focus on communal dining, some table side options as well.
- 14:31Dayna Roselli: And so there you have it.
- 14:32Dayna Roselli: Just want to let you know about that change.
- 14:34Dayna Roselli: People just Italian's just good.
- 14:37Dayna Roselli: You just really can't go wrong.
- 14:38Sean McAllister: No, and there's it there's a good variety.
- 14:40Dayna Roselli: Well, you can go wrong if it's horrible.
- 14:43Sean McAllister: Well you have to talk to Roselli first, and she will tell you what to steer clear from.
- 14:49Dayna Roselli: There's some b yeah.
- 14:51Dayna Roselli: Sometimes the sauce, I just can't.
- 14:55Dayna Roselli: Anyway.
- 14:56Sean McAllister: Hey, you know, we were uh recently uh at an event for New Kids on the Block.
- 15:03Sean McAllister: We talked about this.
- 15:04Sean McAllister: They did a residency extension, they married Las Vegas.
- 15:07Sean McAllister: There were a whole bunch of Las Vegas entertainers there as part of this uh renewal ceremony that new kids were doing.
- 15:16Sean McAllister: Among the entertainers there was Carrot Top.
- 15:18Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 15:18Dayna Roselli: And we said Caratop, we got a chat.
- 15:21Dayna Roselli: And he was like, Yeah, sure.
- 15:23Dayna Roselli: And I I didn't realize, I know Caratops, but I feel like I've never lived, I haven't been in Las Vegas when there hasn't been a Caratop.
- 15:29Sean McAllister: Same.
- 15:30Dayna Roselli: And we were right, that's right on the money because we've been here.
- 15:33Dayna Roselli: Well, I'm not gonna give away the years.
- 15:34Dayna Roselli: Let's roll that interview with the Carrot Top.
- 15:37SPEAKER_06: This will be my at the Luxor 20 years, 20 years at Luxor on Thanksgiving Day.
- 15:41SPEAKER_06: Isn't that crazy?
- 15:42Dayna Roselli: That's crazy.
- 15:43Dayna Roselli: I mean, how does that feel?
- 15:44Dayna Roselli: Because so many people come and go.
- 15:46SPEAKER_06: Oh no, it's unbelievable.
- 15:47SPEAKER_06: I every day we think about how the longevity has been just from we've been very lucky and blessed to kill still do.
- 15:52SPEAKER_06: In fact, the guys were just asking me, the new kids were just asking me, like, how many years?
- 15:56SPEAKER_06: I said 20, like, 20?
- 15:57SPEAKER_06: We're doing like eight shows.
- 15:58SPEAKER_06: I'm like, I know.
- 15:59SPEAKER_06: I'll be doing eight shows this week.
- 16:01SPEAKER_06: Um, so yeah, but uh no, it's it's it's amazing fun.
- 16:04SPEAKER_06: The cities have been so good to me, and uh, it was fun being part of this today, looking around at all the Vegas people here, so it's awesome.
- 16:09Dayna Roselli: Caratop has a lot of content this year.
- 16:12Dayna Roselli: I mean, first of all, every year I feel like there's content, jokes, props.
- 16:16Dayna Roselli: I mean, this year, this year's brought a lot on.
- 16:18SPEAKER_06: Yeah, you know, every year seems to do that, you know, everything, oh, you're gonna run out of jokes.
- 16:21SPEAKER_06: No, there's always something to make fun of uh fun with, and uh that's what keeps my job fun.
- 16:26SPEAKER_06: It's it's always something new in the in the news or socially or something that that's fun.
- 16:31SPEAKER_06: Uh and it's always evolving, and that's what makes it makes it fun for for me as well.
- 16:35Dayna Roselli: Do you have like one moment in the show recently over the last six months that just hits every time that people are just loving and screaming and laughing?
- 16:43Dayna Roselli: I mean, there's so many.
- 16:44Dayna Roselli: I mean, I laughed through the whole show.
- 16:45Dayna Roselli: My cheeks hurt when I leave your show.
- 16:46SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I mean, the the the the show changes so much.
- 16:49SPEAKER_06: I I have stuff that I was just doing a month ago, and I'm not doing it, I already forgot that they just pushed it out and brought in new.
- 16:54SPEAKER_06: Um, yeah, we're doing some stuff about, you know, like we're trying to stay out of politics.
- 16:58SPEAKER_06: No one wants to hear that stuff.
- 16:59SPEAKER_06: So we we talked about music, you know, we talked like the new kids are like that, you know.
- 17:02SPEAKER_06: You talk about Jimmy Buffett, you know.
- 17:04SPEAKER_06: There was a song that he sings called Finns.
- 17:07SPEAKER_06: It's called Finns to the Left, Fins to the Right, right?
- 17:09SPEAKER_06: And all the I for 47 years I just realized this two nights ago, I'm doing that song on the show, and I'm saying Dance to the Left, Dance to the Right.
- 17:18SPEAKER_06: And someone in the audience says, you know, it's not dance, it's it's Finns.
- 17:22SPEAKER_06: And I'm like, So we've been putting in the show now where I'm revealing that for 47 years I'm singing Dance to the Left, Dance to the Right, like it's Finns.
- 17:31SPEAKER_06: So that's a new bit that everybody's been singing, and they all know it, so they all sing along to it.
- 17:35SPEAKER_06: So it's a fun thing.
- 17:36Dayna Roselli: That's a good one because there's so many songs out there that you sing the wrong things.
- 17:38SPEAKER_06: Exactly.
- 17:39Dayna Roselli: Oh, I love Jimmy.
- 17:40SPEAKER_06: Yeah, no, me too.
- 17:41SPEAKER_06: What a what a what a true uh what a true uh icon.
- 17:44Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so Thanksgiving Day, 20 years for the Big Topper.
- 17:50Dayna Roselli: I love him.
- 17:51Dayna Roselli: He's great.
- 17:51Dayna Roselli: He goes back and forth.
- 17:52Dayna Roselli: He's got his relaxation time down in Florida, he's got his home here in Las Vegas.
- 17:57Dayna Roselli: He's always around town, having brunch at events, he's fun.
- 18:00Sean McAllister: Well, it was great when we uh walked up to him and said, Hey, Carrot Top, can we chat for a minute?
- 18:04Sean McAllister: He was like, Yeah, of course.
- 18:06Sean McAllister: I haven't seen you guys in a minute.
- 18:08Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 18:08Sean McAllister: It's been a little bit.
- 18:09Dayna Roselli: And there was a funny little situation that went on with Blue Man Group, but because it was more of a visual thing, we we couldn't obviously run it here because you can't hear it because the blue men don't talk.
- 18:19Dayna Roselli: But they kind of interrupted the interview, it was really funny.
- 18:22Sean McAllister: They did, yeah.
- 18:23Dayna Roselli: They were kind of peeping over his shoulder, they start touching the microphone, and he was like, You should eat it.
- 18:28Dayna Roselli: It's chocolate.
- 18:30Dayna Roselli: I love Carrot Top.
- 18:32Dayna Roselli: I laugh every single time I've been to his show, I don't even know, like eight times or something like that.
- 18:38Dayna Roselli: It's so funny every time.
- 18:39Sean McAllister: Well, there's a reason that he's been here for 20 years, and it's because he keeps bringing people in, keeps people laughing, keeps refreshing his show, like he talked about.
- 18:49Dayna Roselli: And I know we just did a lot of tips, but guess what?
- 18:51Dayna Roselli: More tips coming up now.
- 18:59Sean McAllister: Okay, so in tips this week, we have a couple food tips for you.
- 19:03Dayna Roselli: Yeah, we're very food heavy and very holiday bar pop-up heavy in this episode.
- 19:07Dayna Roselli: But that's what you guys like.
- 19:08Sean McAllister: That kind of goes with the holiday season, doesn't it?
- 19:10Dayna Roselli: Yes, it does.
- 19:11Sean McAllister: There's lots of food and drink and cheer during the holidays.
- 19:15Sean McAllister: Sometimes.
- 19:16Sean McAllister: Sometimes, yeah.
- 19:18Sean McAllister: Uh, so the first uh tip that we have for you is about a new restaurant that's opening on uh well it's open now, uh uh on the Fremont Street Experience inside Neanapolis.
- 19:31Sean McAllister: Uh there is the Hush Puppy, which is a longtime Las Vegas restaurant.
- 19:37Sean McAllister: The original is on West Charleston.
- 19:39Sean McAllister: Uh, this is their second and new location right there at Neanapolis, and they specialize in like southern cuisine.
- 19:48Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 19:49Dayna Roselli: They have a lot of things on the menu that I'm just like, I mean, sound delicious.
- 19:53Dayna Roselli: Seafood gumbo, jambalaya, fried green tomatoes.
- 19:57Dayna Roselli: They're homemade and hand-battered, world-famous Hush Puppies served with honey butter.
- 20:04Sean McAllister: They're so good.
- 20:05Dayna Roselli: Sounds great.
- 20:06Dayna Roselli: Um, okay, so Hush Puppy, yes, like you said, is a locals' favorite, but uh they have this new downtown spot, and here are a couple things that are different than the spot on Charleston that's been there a very, very long time.
- 20:18Dayna Roselli: This one is gonna serve beer, wine, and cocktails, and it's gonna be open late.
- 20:22Dayna Roselli: I think on the weekend, it's open to like 2 a.m.
- 20:25Dayna Roselli: and then the other day's 12.
- 20:26Dayna Roselli: That's perfect.
- 20:27Dayna Roselli: So that's great.
- 20:28Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 20:28Dayna Roselli: I know they do uh show your military ID Mondays, and people get uh in the military get 20% off.
- 20:34Dayna Roselli: Love that too.
- 20:35Dayna Roselli: So they've got some some things going on there that are a little bit different, and I think it's gonna do really well there.
- 20:41Dayna Roselli: I mean, listen, if you're out and about, gambling, having some drink, doing whatever, I mean, an after-hour snack is a must, and a hush puppy might be just what you need.
- 20:55Sean McAllister: Just get a little basket of hush puppies with that honey butter, maybe some seafood.
- 21:01Sean McAllister: There we go.
- 21:02Dayna Roselli: There you go.
- 21:02Dayna Roselli: Yeah, they've been working on this spot for a while, so we need to check out check it out and go see it.
- 21:07Dayna Roselli: Um, but yeah, the mayor was there for a big ribbon cutting, and the owners are longtime people in Las Vegas.
- 21:12Dayna Roselli: So congratulations.
- 21:13Sean McAllister: There was a chunk of time when I would regularly go to the original location there on Charleston.
- 21:20Sean McAllister: Yeah, because they used to do, I don't I don't know if they still do it or not, but they used to do at that original location, like uh I think it was Monday night uh like crab leg kind of deal.
- 21:31Sean McAllister: And so you go in, get it's a whole deal.
- 21:34Sean McAllister: They have the salad bar, you get your hush puppies, and it was unlimited crab legs, is what it was.
- 21:41Sean McAllister: I have a feeling that's probably like gone by the wayside these days.
- 21:45Dayna Roselli: Who knows?
- 21:46Sean McAllister: Well, this was early twenty years ago.
- 21:48Sean McAllister: Circa circa 2010.
- 21:51Sean McAllister: Yeah, all right.
- 21:51Sean McAllister: So it's been a minute.
- 21:52Dayna Roselli: They might have changed things up.
- 21:56Dayna Roselli: Well, we're a tie is a great Thai restaurant.
- 22:00Dayna Roselli: In town as well.
- 22:01Dayna Roselli: And they're celebrating uh what are they doing?
- 22:03Dayna Roselli: 15 years here in Las Vegas.
- 22:05Dayna Roselli: Um, now their original location opened back in 2010.
- 22:09Dayna Roselli: They've expanded to about five restaurants now all across the valley, but their newest one opened over the summer.
- 22:15Dayna Roselli: And we just thought we'd let you know because it's in the same plaza, a little plaza, where the famous Golden Steer restaurant is.
- 22:24Sean McAllister: So that's just off the Las Vegas Strip at Sahara.
- 22:28Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 22:29Dayna Roselli: And so this is a good spot for locals and tourists.
- 22:32Dayna Roselli: So we thought, you know, if you're visiting and you're looking for some good Thai food, I've been to two of the locations.
- 22:38Dayna Roselli: Always very, very tasty.
- 22:40Dayna Roselli: Now this one um has a little bit of a different focus.
- 22:44Dayna Roselli: It blends classic family recipes with the vibrant energy of Bangkok Street Markets.
- 22:50Dayna Roselli: So it's kind of cool.
- 22:51Dayna Roselli: This is street food by We're a Thai.
- 22:55Dayna Roselli: And um again, it's located in the same uh plaza there as the Golden Steer, the famous Golden Steer.
- 23:01Dayna Roselli: And so I welcome them to the neighborhood.
- 23:03Dayna Roselli: I live over in that area and happy to see more restaurants come in.
- 23:07Sean McAllister: And like you said, there are uh five locations around Las Vegas now from We're a Thai.
- 23:14Sean McAllister: And if you're here and you like Thai food, this is the spot to try.
- 23:20Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 23:21Dayna Roselli: There's so many restaurants, so many great holiday events going on.
- 23:24Dayna Roselli: Just, you know, just we could go on and on and on forever.
- 23:29Dayna Roselli: People always say, like, you do a weekly podcast, like, how do you have stuff to talk about?
- 23:32Sean McAllister: And we're not even scratching the listen, if you could see our our inboxes, like we're not even screening.
- 23:41Sean McAllister: And our notepads.
- 23:43Sean McAllister: Look at there's notepads, there's post-it notes, we're surrounded by it all.
- 23:47Sean McAllister: Oh, you know what I'm saying?
- 23:48Sean McAllister: We're barely scratching the surface here.
- 23:50Dayna Roselli: And I'm looking at a pad and I'm realizing um we did something on NFR, and that's this we need to do that now, don't we?
- 23:58Dayna Roselli: Because it's December 4th.
- 24:00Sean McAllister: Uh, I believe the third through the 14th.
- 24:02Dayna Roselli: Okay, so we could do next week, but NFR's in town.
- 24:05Sean McAllister: NFR is in town.
- 24:07Dayna Roselli: That's huge.
- 24:07Dayna Roselli: Ten days of National Finals Rodeo.
- 24:09Dayna Roselli: Tim McGraw's over at the Coliseum, all sorts of country artists in town.
- 24:14Dayna Roselli: At the Sphere.
- 24:15Sean McAllister: Oh, all over the city.
- 24:16Dayna Roselli: Who's at the Zach Brown?
- 24:18Sean McAllister: Uh Zach Brown.
- 24:18Dayna Roselli: Oh, so much going on.
- 24:20Sean McAllister: I know a lot of people who are coming into town for that Zack Brown show at Sphere.
- 24:24Sean McAllister: Uh just about every uh casino property is going country for NFR.
- 24:31Sean McAllister: So it's kind of like a mix of holidays and rodeo.
- 24:36Dayna Roselli: It's great.
- 24:37Dayna Roselli: The National Finals Rodeo brings in people uh in the masses.
- 24:40Dayna Roselli: We have Cowboy Christmas over at the convention center.
- 24:44Dayna Roselli: We have Concerts Galore.
- 24:45Sean McAllister: Which the Cowboy Christmas, if you haven't heard of it and haven't been before, it is like a massive uh uh cow well, like the name says, a cowboy Christmas bazaar.
- 24:59Sean McAllister: It's like anything they have uh I mean you can get saddles, cowboy hats, uh Christmas uh ornaments, but you can get like regular uh uh jewel you can get jewelry, you can get clothing, you can get food, you know.
- 25:14Dayna Roselli: It's like a big indoor market for cowboy.
- 25:17Sean McAllister: It's everything, right?
- 25:19Sean McAllister: Yes, everything.
- 25:20Dayna Roselli: And people are always leaving there because I live nearby at that at convention center, that part of the convention, the leaving there with bags of stuff.
- 25:26Sean McAllister: Oh full.
- 25:28Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 25:28Sean McAllister: Bags full.
- 25:30Dayna Roselli: Um yeah, it just makes me laugh because when I used to be on TV at Channel 8, the uh my friend Sherry Swentz does the weather over there on the morning show, and she used to always show a live shot, and she'd be like, all the cowboys are in town, and so are the Wranglers.
- 25:46Dayna Roselli: She would make her little innuendos, and it was funny.
- 25:48Dayna Roselli: And it just made me think of that.
- 25:51Dayna Roselli: There's lots of Wranglers walking up and down the strip.
- 25:55Dayna Roselli: Good people watching.
- 25:57Dayna Roselli: But anyway, you do see a lot of folks in the hats and the wranglers and the boots, and they're going to Cowboy Christmas, and they're going to the National Finals rodeo, they're going to all the bars and the shows.
- 26:07Dayna Roselli: Welcome to town, everyone that's here for NFR.
- 26:10Sean McAllister: And we're gonna have another show full of stuff for you next week.
- 26:13Dayna Roselli: We are.
- 26:14Dayna Roselli: I think that's enough for now, right?
- 26:15Sean McAllister: Yeah, my brain's a little foggy today.
- 26:17Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 26:18Dayna Roselli: Well, you know, it's that time of year.
- 26:20Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 26:20Dayna Roselli: Have a great week, everyone.
