• 1:53
Speaker 4: bit later. Remember last year Rob went on the road
• 1:56
Speaker 4: searching for the region's best burgers. Well now he's doing
• 1:59
Speaker 4: the same thing with one and that's the thing he's
• 2:02
Speaker 4: calling winging it. Rob's gonna join it to talk about that.
• 2:04
Speaker 4: Plus we're going to introduce you to a new voice.
• 2:07
Speaker 4: You're at the radio ranch. We'll be hearing him on
• 2:09
Speaker 4: WHS and the Metro News Radio network. I actually heard
• 2:11
Speaker 4: him on my drive in this morning. His name is
• 2:13
Speaker 4: Jack Carlson. He's the newest member of her team here.
• 2:15
Speaker 4: Brian Hughes doesn't get the title of the new guy anymore.
• 2:18

• 2:29
Speaker 2: want to say this. I originally, and you heard the promos,
• 2:32
Speaker 2: originally had former Delegate Rick Stayton scheduled to be on
• 2:36
Speaker 2: the show this morning and he had to postpone. He
• 2:39
Speaker 2: had a little accident. Now he's going to be fine.
• 2:41
Speaker 2: He's recovering from a fall from what I understand. So
• 2:45
Speaker 2: if you know, if you know Rick, reach out in
• 2:47
Speaker 2: wishing Well. We'll try to get him rescheduled on the
• 2:50
Speaker 2: show at some point in the future. Welcome in now
• 2:52
Speaker 2: to to the Jericha Ttruction Studios, Charleston City Council Will
• 2:55
Speaker 2: councilman from the twentieth Ward Chad Robinson, Hey doing, my friend.
• 2:58
Speaker 5: Good morning, Dave. So you always said it was going
• 3:01
Speaker 5: to be seventy five eventually, Sonny, in seventy five is
• 3:03
Speaker 5: what I said, eventually.
• 3:04
Speaker 2: And so what are where are we now? We're not
• 3:07
Speaker 2: so we're not sunny, and that's we're sixty six right now. Close.
• 3:11
Speaker 2: So we're getting close. So I let the cat out
• 3:14
Speaker 2: of the bag there that you were a last minute
• 3:15
Speaker 2: at That's okay. Well, no, there's a lot of news
• 3:18
Speaker 2: I want to get to with you. But I had
• 3:21
Speaker 2: scheduled to have Rick Staton on the show today. You
• 3:23
Speaker 2: don't know whether you know record or a longtime public servant,
• 3:26
Speaker 2: and I always like to interview these former legislators, you know,
• 3:29
Speaker 2: whether they're Republican or Democrat, just to see what they
• 3:32
Speaker 2: think about things now. So i'd reached out to Rick
• 3:33
Speaker 2: over the weekend and actually a couple of weeks ago,
• 3:36
Speaker 2: and he had a little fall at home and he's
• 3:38
Speaker 2: doing okay, but he's just resting up a little bit.
• 3:40
Speaker 2: So so here you are. There's a lot of news, though.
• 3:46
Speaker 2: What we're gonna say about Rick. I'm sorry, and.
• 3:47
Speaker 5: Rick's going long term. Majority live in the house, so
• 3:50
Speaker 5: he knows the ins and outs of the capitol.
• 3:52
Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll get him back on again real soon.
• 3:55
  Speaker 6: All right.
• 3:55
  Speaker 4: So there's a lot of a lot of news I
• 3:58
Speaker 4: think coming out of out of your district you serve
• 4:01
Speaker 4: ward to twenty. Explain what that district is.
• 4:04
Speaker 5: War twenty is from Lower Donnelly all the way to
• 4:08
Speaker 5: South Ruffner and I come across at the hospital and
• 4:12
Speaker 5: take in the hospital and towards the University of Charleston.
• 4:15
Speaker 5: I stay on mostly on the railroad side of the
• 4:18
Speaker 5: hill in Kanas City.
• 4:19
  Speaker 2: All right.
• 4:20
Speaker 4: So it's I guess one of the worst kept secrets
• 4:23
Speaker 4: out there, and it started making news. I mean, they
• 4:25
Speaker 4: would have been rumblings about it, about what's going to
• 4:28
Speaker 4: happen to the Kmart property over there.
• 4:30
  Speaker 2: That's correct.
• 4:30
Speaker 5: It's from a social media post yesterday fire took off
• 4:36
Speaker 5: and here we are, you know, we Metro News and
• 4:40
Speaker 5: other stations and but it's probably one of the worst
• 4:43
Speaker 5: kept secrets in Kanas City for businesses. What we do
• 4:48
Speaker 5: know is that Kmart we're talking about the Kmart building
• 4:51
Speaker 5: on the east end of Kanas City and that it's
• 4:55
Speaker 5: been vacant for probably ten years or more. And know
• 5:00
Speaker 5: there's a lot of rumors going back and forth for
• 5:02
Speaker 5: several years of what who bought it and when they're
• 5:05
Speaker 5: when what they're gonna put there. But just recently there
• 5:09
Speaker 5: was a online auction and the business, the company who
• 5:14
Speaker 5: owned the Kmart building sold sold the building online to
• 5:20
Speaker 5: the Gomart corporation of the Westernion based company to put
• 5:24
Speaker 5: a new travel plaza in Okay. We had been hearing
• 5:28
Speaker 5: all the rumors about rural king and everything else and
• 5:31
Speaker 5: that none of those came to fruition. We started hearing
• 5:36
Speaker 5: about the Gomart possibility, uh several months ago, and I
• 5:40
Speaker 5: think probably it's been a couple of months ago that
• 5:44
Speaker 5: that auction took place and they purchased. I do know
• 5:47
Speaker 5: there's some other local businesses that tried to purchase and
• 5:50
Speaker 5: they were outbid by Gomart Okay. So it's gonna be
• 5:53
Speaker 5: like a go Mart travel plaza.
• 5:55
  Speaker 2: That's the plan. I mean, like that's like a like
• 5:57
Speaker 2: a like like a big facility.
• 5:59
Speaker 5: Here right stand. We have not seen plans. They are
• 6:04
Speaker 5: planning to close the current location, which is outdated and
• 6:08
Speaker 5: has a lot of issues with you know with vagrance
• 6:13
Speaker 5: and people walk in the lots, so we will get one,
• 6:18
Speaker 5: get rid of one eye sore, and hopefully build a
• 6:21
Speaker 5: state of the art facility that will attract travelers coming
• 6:26
Speaker 5: off the turnpike. I've been told that the Go Mart
• 6:32
Speaker 5: is putting the same type of travel plaza at the
• 6:35
Speaker 5: other end of the turnpike. I would assume down towards
• 6:38
Speaker 5: winter Place area, so they would have two plausas at
• 6:44
Speaker 5: each end of the turnpike, But unfortunately I don't. We
• 6:48
Speaker 5: haven't seen the plan, right, yeah, or cautiously. I've said
• 6:52
Speaker 5: this all day yesterday when I started getting all the
• 6:55
Speaker 5: social media messages and cautiously optimistic of go Mart putting
• 7:01
Speaker 5: in a facility at Stay of the art, but does
• 7:03
Speaker 5: not affect the residential areas that are in that area,
• 7:07
Speaker 5: that part of Kanas City, because Kanas States is directly
• 7:12
Speaker 5: across across mccorkor Avenue from the current kmart building.
• 7:15
Speaker 4: We're talking to Chad Robinson and Charles City Council, so
• 7:18
Speaker 4: I guess it's too early to ask for a timeline
• 7:20
Speaker 4: or anything like that because we don't really know anything.
• 7:22
Speaker 5: We don't know anything, and we know the same thing
• 7:25
Speaker 5: we know today as we did last week, but because
• 7:28
Speaker 5: of a social media post, everyone's all up in arms
• 7:32
Speaker 5: about this. Now we after remind everybody this was a
• 7:35
Speaker 5: business to business purchase. I mean, the City of Charleston
• 7:39
Speaker 5: cannot do anything with that purchase unless they're going to
• 7:43
Speaker 5: sell or provide services outside the zoning ordinance, right, or
• 7:48
  Speaker 5: if they.
• 7:48
Speaker 2: Don't pay their taxes or something like that.
• 7:50
Speaker 5: I mean that may be like me coming into your
• 7:52
Speaker 5: house and saying, hey, we don't want you to do this, this,
• 7:54
Speaker 5: and this and try to regulate your private home.
• 7:57
Speaker 2: We can't do that.
• 7:58
Speaker 4: Yeah, as long as you're doing everything, you know, as
• 8:01
Speaker 4: you said, this is one of the questions that we
• 8:02
Speaker 4: get all the time about the town Center. You know,
• 8:04
Speaker 4: when I've got the mayor and others on here, people say, well,
• 8:06
Speaker 4: the cities should do that, and I know the city's
• 8:08
Speaker 4: and negotiations they have when with the whole group. But
• 8:11
Speaker 4: I mean, one of one of the biggest complaints I
• 8:14
Speaker 4: guess that I have from people was people would say, well,
• 8:17
Speaker 4: how did the city let it get Well, the city
• 8:18
Speaker 4: didn't let it get that way. It's a private business
• 8:21
Speaker 4: and as long as they are paying taxes and they're
• 8:23
Speaker 4: doing everything, But you can't tell a business what they
• 8:26
Speaker 4: can and can't do.
• 8:26
  Speaker 2: That's exactly right.
• 8:27
Speaker 5: I mean, we have to abide by the rule of
• 8:31
Speaker 5: law and allow transaction to take place unless they go
• 8:35
Speaker 5: outside the box. And this is a business to business purchase.
• 8:40
Speaker 5: I do know that they're in negotiations with certain restaurants
• 8:45
Speaker 5: to include in that plaza two or three different restaurants
• 8:50
Speaker 5: we don't have around the Kanaal Valley. Hopefully it also
• 8:54
Speaker 5: will attract travelers coming off the interstate to purchase gas,
• 9:01
Speaker 5: purchase things in the store, food and beverages. Yes, that's
• 9:07
Speaker 5: that's good thing for Charleston for beingo and visitors. But
• 9:11
Speaker 5: we do have to be you know, let's be careful
• 9:14
Speaker 5: how we put a business in a resid a somewhat
• 9:18
Speaker 5: of a residential area that has other businesses in there
• 9:21
Speaker 5: in the same vicinity.
• 9:24
Speaker 2: The Dave Island showing five D line bronch to you

• 9:40
Speaker 2: environment because what you don't know can hurts you. Well,
• 9:42
Speaker 2: let's talk about the businesses that are in Kanas City
• 9:44
Speaker 2: right now, the ones that are there and the residents.
• 9:46
Speaker 2: What's new in Kanas City.
• 9:48
Speaker 5: I'm glad you asked we You know, we we started
• 9:50
Speaker 5: the Charleston Urber Works July twenty twenty five, and you
• 9:55
Speaker 5: know now we're branding now, we're starting to talk about
• 9:58
Speaker 5: events we're starting. We've already had ribbon cuttings for three
• 10:03
Speaker 5: locations and others coming. We're getting wing stops coming. It
• 10:09
Speaker 5: should be opened soon. Chipotle building is going up and
• 10:13
Speaker 5: there's another building in between Chipotle and Appleby's going into
• 10:17
Speaker 5: So hopefully that's going to attract new people to Kanas City.
• 10:20
Speaker 5: But the new urban works that you and I have
• 10:22
Speaker 5: talked about with Rick Cavender had Rick on the show
• 10:25
Speaker 5: last Friday talking about a little bit and it's going great.
• 10:27
Speaker 5: We meet every month to how we can attract businesses,
• 10:30
Speaker 5: how we can have events in Kanas City to bring
• 10:34
Speaker 5: back those businesses, local businesses, corporate business and anything that
• 10:39
Speaker 5: we can bring back to Kano City that benefits our area.
• 10:42
Speaker 5: That's what we're trying to do, and that's what the
• 10:45
Speaker 5: mayor has allowed us to take some money and create
• 10:50
Speaker 5: a position with Charleston Nervan works to help in that endeavor.
• 10:54
Speaker 2: You know, you have been on Charleton City Council for
• 10:56
Speaker 2: how long now? Seven years?
• 10:57
Speaker 4: Okay, seven years, and you're running again for relation but
• 11:00
Speaker 4: you don't you don't have opposition.
• 11:01
  Speaker 2: That's correct.
• 11:02
Speaker 4: Doesn't mean that people have to vote for you, though,
• 11:04
Speaker 4: So I'm gonna give you a little opportunity. Think everybody
• 11:06
Speaker 4: could just stay home, you'd get one vote.
• 11:08
Speaker 2: It could be you.
• 11:08
Speaker 5: Okay, well hopefully my kids would are they are they
• 11:12
Speaker 5: old enough to vote for Yeah, they're old enough. They
• 11:14
  Speaker 5: might not.
• 11:15
Speaker 2: We'll see de bit Son. How good you are at
• 11:17
  Speaker 2: in the day.
• 11:18
Speaker 4: But talk about you know, your time on city council
• 11:21
Speaker 4: and why you continue to do this because you get
• 11:23
Speaker 4: other things going on in your life. And I know
• 11:25
Speaker 4: sometimes some cities, including Charleston, have had difficulty getting people
• 11:29
Speaker 4: to want to run for office. Why did you run
• 11:31
Speaker 4: in the first place, and what is it that keeps
• 11:33
  Speaker 4: you coming back?
• 11:34
Speaker 5: You know, I was the president of local softball and
• 11:39
Speaker 5: baseball little League for long time, for ten over ten years,
• 11:41
Speaker 5: I was Kanall City youth basketball president for a long time.
• 11:45
Speaker 5: And the kids. You know, we all of our kids
• 11:48
Speaker 5: in Kanas City, they need help. Of our kids in
• 11:51
Speaker 5: South Park, our kids on the flats. We have to
• 11:53
Speaker 5: get them in a better situation than they were before.
• 11:57
Speaker 5: And I think over the last seven years we've done
• 11:59
Speaker 5: a lot for Charles, not just Canos City, but for
• 12:02
Speaker 5: Charleston in general, to bring more businesses, to bring people
• 12:06
Speaker 5: back to purchase homes and live here. And that's what's important.
• 12:12
  Speaker 5: I don't I mean, I don't do it for the money.
• 12:15
Speaker 5: You know everyone somebody's told me on the other day
• 12:17
Speaker 5: on Facebook, you get paid to come up with ideas.
• 12:20
  Speaker 2: Well.
• 12:21
Speaker 5: Our job is to help fill potholes, pick up your trash,
• 12:25
Speaker 5: things of that sort. And that's what I like to do.
• 12:27
Speaker 5: I like to help people in Canosity.
• 12:29
Speaker 2: I've lived there for over forty years.
• 12:31
Speaker 5: And you know it's hard finding people to run and
• 12:36
Speaker 5: that want to take on this this job and get
• 12:40
Speaker 5: the text and the calls and the social media messages
• 12:44
Speaker 5: all the time. And you know, we just have to
• 12:48
Speaker 5: find good people that want to do the best for Charleston,
• 12:52
Speaker 5: not personal agendas. And we've got to do get work
• 12:55
Speaker 5: together everybody step on one foot in front of the
• 12:59
Speaker 5: other to try to make Charleston better.
• 13:02
Speaker 4: You mentioned because we had a text here it said
• 13:03
Speaker 4: Kmart was a business with a residential area across the streets.
• 13:07
Speaker 4: So nothing's changed. Glad someone's making use of that property.
• 13:10
Speaker 4: According to text, you're somebody who's been in that area
• 13:12
Speaker 4: for a long time. And actually, my wife and I
• 13:15
Speaker 4: we were watching one of the TV news channels last
• 13:17
Speaker 4: night when she saw the story come up there, she said, man,
• 13:20
Speaker 4: the amount of time that she spent at that Kmart location.
• 13:24
Speaker 4: A lot of people did a lot of memories in
• 13:25
  Speaker 4: that story.
• 13:26
Speaker 5: Yeah, growing up, we've got to Kmart all the time.
• 13:28
Speaker 5: And you know what, you have to look at the building.
• 13:33
Speaker 5: It's empty. There were individuals getting in, stealing copper, stealing equipment,
• 13:38
Speaker 5: stealing things out of it. It's an empty building for
• 13:41
Speaker 5: ten years. Do we let it sit empty and just
• 13:45
Speaker 5: let the residents and myself decide what to put there,
• 13:48
Speaker 5: or do we let a business take come in and
• 13:50
Speaker 5: put new led lighting in, putting a new facility, put
• 13:54
Speaker 5: a new parking lot, new security. Those are the things
• 13:59
Speaker 5: we have to take into account when when a business
• 14:02
  Speaker 5: purchases another business.
• 14:04
Speaker 4: I know you'll keep us updated, and we do have
• 14:07
Speaker 4: good news. As far as the traffic situation, it seems
• 14:09
Speaker 4: like the traffic project that was going on over there
• 14:11
Speaker 4: for like thirty years ever since you moved to Kanas City,
• 14:13
Speaker 4: it was going on.
• 14:14
Speaker 5: I think it started back in nineteen eighty six. Yeah,
• 14:17
Speaker 5: but it went forever. But it looks like we're we
• 14:19
Speaker 5: might be done. I think, well, hopefully.
• 14:22
  Speaker 2: It's a hope.
• 14:23
Speaker 5: It's a good situation to come to an end.
• 14:25
Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot of good stuff going on in Kanaha City.
• 14:28
  Speaker 1: Chant.
• 14:28
Speaker 2: I appreciate you being here, my friend. Thanks a lot.
• 14:30
  Speaker 2: Thank you.
• 14:31
Speaker 4: Robinson Charleston City councilor out of Ward twenty. We'll take
• 14:33
Speaker 4: a break. Coming up a little bit later on, Rob
• 14:36
Speaker 4: Reel is going to join us. You chicken wing gout ched.
• 14:38
Speaker 4: You strike me as somebody he'd be a chicken.
• 14:40
Speaker 5: We love my chicken wings. I can't wait till wings
• 14:42
Speaker 5: stuff comes to Kanas City.
• 14:43

• 16:36
Speaker 9: Dick Durbin. Now Durbin has a new scheme. He's doing
• 16:40
Speaker 9: the dirty work to benefit corporate mega stores. Durbin's bill
• 16:43
Speaker 9: could cut corners on your credit card security, putting your
• 16:46
Speaker 9: personal data at risk. Big chain retailers and warehouse stores
• 16:50
Speaker 9: want to inflate their profits, and liberal Dick Durbin would
• 16:54
Speaker 9: help them do it. Tell senators say no to the
• 16:57
Speaker 9: mega stores, and Dick Durbin paid for by the Electronic
• 17:00

Speaker 2: Cooper the boss today Texas. So basically it's going to
• 17:26
Speaker 2: be a wanna be Bucky as well. No, not necessarily,
• 17:30
Speaker 2: it's going to be a truck stop. That's the plan.
• 17:33
Speaker 2: Go and Martin's gonna take that building. They're going to
• 17:35
Speaker 2: turn into a big old truck stop. That's the plan.
• 17:38
Speaker 2: But again we still don't know when I have a timeline,
• 17:41
Speaker 2: We don't know how big it's going to be. Anything
• 17:42
  Speaker 2: like that.
• 17:43
Speaker 4: But there was a lot of buzz going on social
• 17:45
Speaker 4: media yesterday, and so that's why I reached out to
• 17:47
Speaker 4: the city councilman for that, Aery Chad Robinson, so he
• 17:49
Speaker 4: could tell us what he does know about details will
• 17:52
  Speaker 4: come out.
• 17:53
Speaker 2: Guarantee you Bank hotline three zero four three four five
• 17:55
Speaker 2: fifty eight fifty eight. Tony the Taylor Text three zero
• 17:58
Speaker 2: four nine three five five zero zero. He's a new
• 18:00
Speaker 2: voice you can be hearing a lot of on WCCHS
• 18:03
Speaker 2: Adventure News Radio Network. Wanted to get to know him
• 18:05
Speaker 2: just a little better. His name is Jack Carlson and
• 18:07
Speaker 2: he joins us now at the JERI Construction Studios. Good morning, sir,
• 18:10
Speaker 2: Welcome to the show.
• 18:11
Speaker 10: Thank you, Dave. It's a pleasure to be on with you.
• 18:13
Speaker 2: Now give us your background. Where are you from? How
• 18:16
Speaker 2: did you get here? Who are you boy?
• 18:18
Speaker 10: So I'm a longtime mountaineer. My mom's side of the
• 18:20
Speaker 10: family has always lived in West Virginia, and I went
• 18:24
Speaker 10: to school out in Iowa at a small Division III school,
• 18:27
Speaker 10: Cornell College, which is actually older than the Ivy League
• 18:30
Speaker 10: school at Cornell University that everybody knows. But couldn't take
• 18:34
Speaker 10: the Mountain State out of my blood. So I'm back
• 18:36
Speaker 10: here with you, o al and can't thank Jeff Jenkins
• 18:38
Speaker 10: and Hoppy Kerchival enough for the opportunity to join this team.
• 18:41
Speaker 2: And you're gonna be doing news sports. I mean, you're
• 18:44
Speaker 2: around here. You do a little bit of everything, you know,
• 18:46
Speaker 2: so shoveling, shoveling snow on the sidewalk, you know, grilling
• 18:49
Speaker 2: out if we eat, You're gonna be doing a little
• 18:51
  Speaker 2: bit of everything.
• 18:52
Speaker 10: Yeah, and maybe pouring some Heinz ketch up on those
• 18:54
Speaker 10: burgers or hot dogs if you et.
• 18:56
Speaker 2: You do know that around here we do a little
• 18:58
Speaker 2: bit of everything, right exactly. Well, was it about this
• 19:01
Speaker 2: business that appealed to you? Because you're a relatively young guy,
• 19:03
Speaker 2: what was it about this Unfortunately there's not a lot
• 19:05
Speaker 2: of younger people don't want to go into this business anymore,
• 19:08
Speaker 2: So what was it about this business that appealed to you?
• 19:10
Speaker 10: Well, for broadcasting and me, it's always been a love
• 19:13
Speaker 10: relationship with me. Back in the days of playing basketball
• 19:17
Speaker 10: in my backyard, I'd always be commentating the games in
• 19:19
Speaker 10: my head as I would play. And it's just like
• 19:22
Speaker 10: every kid, will you go out in the driveway and
• 19:24
Speaker 10: put up hoops and envision yourself hitting the game winning shot.
• 19:27
Speaker 10: I'd be commentating during that point. I got connected with
• 19:30
Speaker 10: Tony Curedi when I was twelve years old. Made my
• 19:32
Speaker 10: debut on the radio at that point and ill you
• 19:35
Speaker 10: made your debut twelve years old, And he actually gave
• 19:38
Speaker 10: me my nickname, Jumpin' Jack at that point and it's
• 19:41
Speaker 10: stuck ever since. So if you ever hear me refer
• 19:44
Speaker 10: to as jumpin Jack, I've helped out with three guys
• 19:46
Speaker 10: before the game that podcast that's me jumping do.
• 19:50
Speaker 2: What did him you doing at twelve?
• 19:53
  Speaker 10: I don't know. I mean while I was on there,
• 19:55
Speaker 10: he just would interview me about just I guess you
• 19:59
Speaker 10: saw something in me because at that point. So that's
• 20:02
Speaker 10: funny story as to how I got on the radio.
• 20:04
Speaker 10: I was actually interested in going to the sports broadcasting
• 20:08
Speaker 10: seminar that was down on the waterfront in Morgantown and
• 20:11
Speaker 10: they had Dave Pash there, Lenny for Terry, and Tony
• 20:14
Speaker 10: Credi as the three speakers. All turns out that event
• 20:17
Speaker 10: was for college students who were interested in sports broadcasting.
• 20:20
Speaker 10: But at that point, my mom and I had both
• 20:22
Speaker 10: identified that as something that I wanted to do, and
• 20:25
Speaker 10: so we tried to see about registering for that. Tony
• 20:28
Speaker 10: caught wind of it. Obviously I couldn't go to the
• 20:30
Speaker 10: seminar because I was twelve years old, and he said,
• 20:32
Speaker 10: why don't you come on into our studio. I was
• 20:35
Speaker 10: at the old studio in Saberton and then I just
• 20:38
Speaker 10: have stayed in contact with Tony and Brad and Hoppy
• 20:41
  Speaker 10: ever since.
• 20:41
Speaker 4: So basically, Tony put you to work violating every child
• 20:44
Speaker 4: labor law in the world, that is what you're saying.
• 20:46
  Speaker 10: I don't think so. No, I don't think we need
• 20:48
Speaker 10: to incriminate Tony on anything. But yeah, I can't thank
• 20:53
Speaker 10: Tony and Brad and Happy enough. Because I had the
• 20:55
Speaker 10: opportunity to help as a video producer at Metro News
• 20:59
Speaker 10: in Morgantown the summer of twenty twenty three. I learned
• 21:02
Speaker 10: from the best Taylor Kennedy, who is now down here
• 21:04
Speaker 10: in Charlestown, and he helped me with the production element
• 21:09
Speaker 10: of it. And then when he had this opportunity to
• 21:11
Speaker 10: come down to Charleston, I actually took over for Taylor
• 21:14
Speaker 10: for a couple of months span as the producer and
• 21:17
Speaker 10: got to work with Tony and Brad and Hoppey and
• 21:20
Speaker 10: coach Hunter. And the way those guys operate is the
• 21:23
Speaker 10: way that I want to operate too. It's nothing less
• 21:26
Speaker 10: than perfection, is that's the standard.
• 21:28
Speaker 4: So here's what I've learned about people in radio. I
• 21:32
Speaker 4: know very very few people that are in the radio
• 21:35
Speaker 4: business that just kind of fell into it. Most of us.
• 21:40
Speaker 4: My wife referred to it as the sickness, most of it.
• 21:43
Speaker 4: I have the sickness from an early early age, you know.
• 21:47
Speaker 4: And it was the same with me. Dale Cooper's produced him.
• 21:49
Speaker 4: I'm sure it was the same with Dale. I mean
• 21:51
Speaker 4: I was the same as you. I was, you know,
• 21:53
Speaker 4: broadcasting Little League games to nobody and just the voices.
• 21:56
  Speaker 2: In my end.
• 21:58
Speaker 4: And all of us wanted to do this from the
• 22:01
Speaker 4: time we were kids. And I've never had a person
• 22:05
Speaker 4: that maybe I have, like I'll give you a quick
• 22:07
Speaker 4: story now, i'll get back to you. A couple of
• 22:10
Speaker 4: years ago, I ran into my kindergarten teacher, Okay, hadn't
• 22:13
Speaker 4: seen her in forever, uh, And she knew what I
• 22:18
Speaker 4: was doing because she'd followed me on social media and
• 22:19
Speaker 4: she heard me. She actually lives in the Charleston area now,
• 22:21
Speaker 4: and she said, I always knew that you were going
• 22:25
Speaker 4: to get paid to run your mouth, and I was like, well, thanks,
• 22:29
Speaker 4: miss Heatherman, I think okay, But I mean, you know,
• 22:34
Speaker 4: all of us that do this have ninety nine point
• 22:39
Speaker 4: nine percent of the time, it's something we always wanted
• 22:40
Speaker 4: to do in some way or fashion, you know, not
• 22:44
Speaker 4: everybody on the air, some people behind the scenes, some
• 22:46
Speaker 4: people doing a little bit of both. I will give
• 22:47
Speaker 4: you some friendly advice, though. Hang out with the good
• 22:50
Speaker 4: people in this building, all right. Hang out with your
• 22:54
Speaker 4: Jeff Jenkins's and your Morgan's and your the Unless you
• 22:57
Speaker 4: hang out with people like me and Steve Animal and
• 23:00
Speaker 4: Rob Reel and Shockley. That's probably the best advice I'm
• 23:03
Speaker 4: gonna give you for an impressionable young man.
• 23:06
Speaker 10: Okay, I'll try and keep that in mind.
• 23:08
Speaker 2: Keep keep with the with the good people. Don't not
• 23:10
Speaker 2: not with people like me, but Dave Island chilling five
• 23:12
Speaker 2: any line brought to you part by your hometown baseball team,
• 23:15
Speaker 2: The Charles. The Dirty Birds.
• 23:16
Speaker 4: Single game tickets and season tickets are on sale now
• 23:18
Speaker 4: at the website and get you checkets for the May
• 23:20
Speaker 4: fifth WVU Marshall game visit Dirtybirds baseball dot com. Obviously,
• 23:24
Speaker 4: you're a big Mountaineer fan us.
• 23:26
Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, you'd live it and breathe it.
• 23:27
  Speaker 2: I guess right.
• 23:28
Speaker 10: Yeah, I've kind of had to separate myself from being
• 23:32
Speaker 10: a die hard fan because of the die hard fan.
• 23:35
Speaker 10: In twenty sixteen, when Buddy Healed hit the shot for
• 23:38
Speaker 10: Oklahoma to beat the Mountaineers men's basketball team in Kansas City,
• 23:42
Speaker 10: I was howling on the ground, couldn't believe that it
• 23:45
Speaker 10: had gone in, and of course they disallowed the shot
• 23:48
Speaker 10: a little bit later, but younger Jack was not having that.
• 23:51
Speaker 10: So it was at that point that I had to
• 23:53
Speaker 10: take a little bit of a step back. But man,
• 23:55
Speaker 10: I love my Mountaineers, and yeah, hoping for some good
• 23:59
Speaker 10: things with this baseball team. Great weekend series against Arizona
• 24:03
Speaker 10: stage they got it rolling, and yeah, hopefully they played.
• 24:06
Speaker 4: They played on national television the other night. And what's
• 24:09
Speaker 4: in the rankings. I think I just saw that passed.
• 24:11
Speaker 2: They got off to thirteen thirteen. I was gonna say
• 24:13
Speaker 2: thirteen fifteen something like that in the ranking. That's pretty good,
• 24:15
Speaker 2: because I mean, Mountaineer baseball has always has always been good.
• 24:19
Speaker 2: But you don't always I mean, I'm being honest, you don't.
• 24:22
Speaker 2: You don't always think of them every year on a
• 24:24
Speaker 2: national level being good.
• 24:26
Speaker 10: I agree because I would go to baseball games at
• 24:29
Speaker 10: WVU when I was growing up, when they first moved
• 24:31
Speaker 10: into the then Montingelia County Ballpark, and there were some
• 24:35
Speaker 10: lean years there, especially in the Holly Holly Field days,
• 24:38
Speaker 10: which Randy Mazy then moved into the Montingelia County Ballpark,
• 24:42
Speaker 10: and then once they got that regional there, when Alec
• 24:45
Speaker 10: Mino was pitching in twenty nineteen, he just got it rolling.
• 24:49
Speaker 10: And then it's Steve sabins Man. He's picked up the
• 24:52
Speaker 10: baton and taken it to heights that I don't think
• 24:54
Speaker 10: many Mountaineer fans thought were possible.
• 24:56
Speaker 2: And the Mountaineer women had a great season as.
• 24:58
Speaker 10: Well, absolutely, and just a tough way to lose to Kentucky,
• 25:02
Speaker 10: but man, they left it all out there on the floor,
• 25:04
Speaker 10: and all those seniors, Mimi Wheeler, Jordan Harris and Sydney
• 25:09
Speaker 10: Shaw their impact on the program. And Mark Kellogg is
• 25:13
Speaker 10: a special coach. So the Mountaineers are very thankful that
• 25:15
Speaker 10: they have them all right.
• 25:17
Speaker 4: And there's some good things going because I got to
• 25:18
Speaker 4: get a little plug in from my album Water Marshall,
• 25:20
Speaker 4: there's some good things going on there. The women have
• 25:22
Speaker 4: advanced to the final four.
• 25:23
Speaker 10: Of yesterday that they blanked Army in the fourth fourth quarter.
• 25:27
Speaker 2: Army didn't score will in the fourth quarter. That a
• 25:30
Speaker 2: little bit later on.
• 25:31
Speaker 10: That's what Mark Kellogg and his Mountaineers women have done
• 25:34
Speaker 10: with several teams Houston and Cincinnati.
• 25:36
Speaker 4: So Marshall was actually trailing at one point in that game,
• 25:38
Speaker 4: and they came back to blank him in the fourth quarter.
• 25:40
Speaker 2: To advance. They go, they go out to I think
• 25:42
  Speaker 2: it's Central Arkansas.
• 25:44
Speaker 10: I think Sun Belt match up.
• 25:45
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, And so they played again tomorrow night. So
• 25:49
Speaker 2: good stuff the all right.
• 25:49
Speaker 4: So something I started jack when I got When we
• 25:53
Speaker 4: get new people here, I play a little game. Okay,
• 25:55
Speaker 4: it's called ten questions, all right, Ten totally random questions
• 26:00
Speaker 4: get to know you a little bit better. Please verify
• 26:03
Speaker 4: that you have not seen the questions ahead of time.
• 26:05
Speaker 10: I have not seen the questions before this right now,
• 26:09
Speaker 10: I mean I have no idea what's coming.
• 26:10
Speaker 2: All right, and settle in. These questions were developed in
• 26:13
Speaker 2: a lab near Amandeville. And for our listeners, please do
• 26:17
Speaker 2: not try this at home. And as always, no wagery.
• 26:21

• 27:12
Speaker 2: to one musical artist who is Andy Grammer, the name
• 27:16
Speaker 2: of a childhood pet.
• 27:18
Speaker 10: I didn't have any pets growing up.
• 27:20
Speaker 2: Oh, okay, weirdo? Okay, who would win a fist fight
• 27:25
Speaker 2: between Chris Lawrence and Jeff Jenkins?
• 27:27
  Speaker 10: Jeff Jenkins?
• 27:28
Speaker 2: All right? Favorite color?
• 27:30
  Speaker 10: Gonna go yellow?
• 27:31

• 27:39
Speaker 10: was able to make you didn't have a pet growing up.
• 27:41
Speaker 10: I did not. No, okay, never really was a pet guy.
• 27:44
Speaker 10: I will say, if you're going dog versus cat, I'm
• 27:46
Speaker 10: gonna go dog all day.
• 27:48
Speaker 2: Okay, all right, Well, so you've moved into Charleston, right yep,
• 27:51
Speaker 2: so so you can. Are you allowed to have pets
• 27:54
  Speaker 2: where you live?
• 27:55
  Speaker 10: I don't think so, but I mean that's a lot
• 27:57
Speaker 10: of maintenance. My plan is to do a lot of work.
• 28:00

• 28:08
Speaker 2: to join us on. Have you met Rob yet?
• 28:10
  Speaker 10: I have done?
• 28:11
Speaker 2: We met upstairs. I may have had a hat on Okay, yeah.
• 28:14
Speaker 4: See I told him earlier Rob, I said, I gave
• 28:17
Speaker 4: him a list of people to avoid in the building,
• 28:18
Speaker 4: and I would be that would be job one. You you, animal, chocolate, me,
• 28:23
Speaker 4: probably all the fun people, all the fun Tracy.
• 28:26
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you want to avoid all. By the way,
• 28:27
Speaker 2: did you did you manage to break into his hack?
• 28:30
Speaker 2: Into his account asking your childhood pet?
• 28:32
  Speaker 3: Uh?

• 32:28
Speaker 4: Good afternoon, good morning, good Hello, how are you hello, Mary.
• 32:31
Speaker 2: Good evening, good morning, good evening, and good night. Whatever
• 32:33
Speaker 2: it is. It all began on a small, five thousand
• 32:35
Speaker 2: watt radio station, Fresno, California. Don't you think a lot
• 32:39
Speaker 2: of called to the Ted night impersonation. Yeah, yeah, don't
• 32:44
Speaker 2: I think. No, I know, I just had a caddyshack. Well,
• 32:48
Speaker 2: there we were waiting. Now there you go. I was thinking, here,
• 32:53
Speaker 2: have a fresca. Yeah, how about a fresco? Are you
• 32:56
Speaker 2: my pal Danny? I could do the Yes, you ask
• 33:02
Speaker 2: Jack what Despicable Me? How young is he? I don't.
• 33:06
Speaker 2: Bless his heart? I don't even know what that is.
• 33:08
Speaker 2: That's that's the that's the Steve Carell animated, that's the minions.
• 33:13
Speaker 2: Dominions come from. Despicable Me. Bless his heart? Well, I
• 33:16
Speaker 2: mean he's so easy young he is.
• 33:18
Speaker 4: I mean, you don't you weren't expecting him to come
• 33:21
Speaker 4: in here and you know, and say something from like
• 33:23
  Speaker 4: the nineteen six.
• 33:23
Speaker 2: No, I was not expecting Citizen Kings. But I was
• 33:26
Speaker 2: also not expecting Despicable Me. In all seriousness, it is
• 33:33
Speaker 2: it is energizing to see somebody young, fresh out of college,
• 33:37
Speaker 2: who is excited about being here doing this radio thing. Yeah,
• 33:41
Speaker 2: and he's not yet completely jaded like we are. Well
• 33:45
Speaker 2: we'll get him there. He'll work on that.
• 33:48
  Speaker 12: Ye.
• 33:49
Speaker 2: So would you agree with what I said earlier though,
• 33:51
Speaker 2: that very few of us fall into this business. I mean,
• 33:54
Speaker 2: I've I've met very few people that at thirty five said, well,
• 33:58
Speaker 2: now they may have gotten the sales aspect of it,
• 34:01
Speaker 2: or maybe even the engineering aspect of but very few
• 34:03
Speaker 2: on air people that I've met later in love said
• 34:06
Speaker 2: I didn't really want to be on the radio or television.
• 34:08
Speaker 2: It just kind of happened. I would say it's a
• 34:13
Speaker 2: mixed bag because I know a fair number of receptionists
• 34:17
Speaker 2: with personality who ended up on the radio. Long time
• 34:22
Speaker 2: ago to radio station far far away Columbia, jeff City, Missouri.
• 34:27
Speaker 2: I was working at a group of stations and we
• 34:30
Speaker 2: had a Jennifer Marlowe if you will, fellows of a
• 34:35
Speaker 2: certain age know exactly what I mean. And it turned
• 34:38
Speaker 2: out that she was a rabbid NFL fan, and that
• 34:44
Speaker 2: quickly turned into and very good at prognosticating, and so
• 34:48
Speaker 2: it soon turned into a bit of bringing her on
• 34:51
Speaker 2: the show as Asia the immaculate receptionist. And I know
• 34:57
Speaker 2: a number of women who's rear began at the front desk,
• 35:01
Speaker 2: and they, because you know, they had a sense of
• 35:05
Speaker 2: humor and quick comebacks, ended up ended up sitting where
• 35:08
  Speaker 2: we are.
• 35:08
Speaker 4: Not a lot of dudes really hadn't thought about it,
• 35:10
Speaker 4: but yeah, I'll give you an example. Somebody who kind
• 35:13
Speaker 4: of fell into it later was my guest every Monday,
• 35:15
Speaker 4: former Mayor Danny Jones Affairs. You know, Danny had done
• 35:18
Speaker 4: a variety of things from grave digger to restaurant cook, uh,
• 35:22
Speaker 4: fellow fellow marine and uh and uh, and he kind
• 35:25
Speaker 4: of just ended up in radio. And but that's I
• 35:29
Speaker 4: think most of us had this sickness.
• 35:30
Speaker 2: From from like birth. Yeah, there there's a I call
• 35:34
Speaker 2: it lambs look at me syndrome or in our case,
• 35:37
Speaker 2: listen to me syndrome. So yeah, I feel you all right?
• 35:41
Speaker 2: All right? So what uh, what do you mean by
• 35:43
Speaker 2: winging it? So last fall, truck Norris and I went
• 35:49
Speaker 2: out looking for great burgers in West Virginia. Just it was.
• 35:53
Speaker 2: It was a way to get out and see folks
• 35:55
Speaker 2: and maybe go to some new towns, certainly go to
• 35:57
Speaker 2: some new eateries and meet some new meet some new people.
• 36:01
Speaker 2: And we had so much fun. I'm like, well, okay,
• 36:03
Speaker 2: I want to do it again, but I don't want
• 36:05
Speaker 2: to do burgers again. Burgers are great, but well we'll
• 36:08
Speaker 2: come up with something. We'll just wing it. And there
• 36:10
Speaker 2: it was. It was, so we're looking for great Chicken
• 36:14
Speaker 2: Wings in West Virginia. And they're really only two rules
• 36:20
Speaker 2: when it comes to this rules, I've made this whole
• 36:22
Speaker 2: thing up myself. So rules schmools. I don't want like
• 36:27
Speaker 2: two places next to one another. So I want to
• 36:30
Speaker 2: try to spread things around geographically. And I don't want
• 36:32
Speaker 2: to go back to any of the burger places, not
• 36:35
Speaker 2: because they weren't great. Tailor made and Frostby Dairy Bar
• 36:39
Speaker 2: and Creakers and Brooksy's were all fantastic, but I want
• 36:43
Speaker 2: to get some new blood out there. Part of why
• 36:46
Speaker 2: we want to do this, I remember, remember six years
• 36:50
Speaker 2: ago when the world shut down and all of those chains,
• 36:54
Speaker 2: which they are great in their own right, they wouldn't
• 36:56
Speaker 2: be chains if they if they didn't have something going,
• 36:59
Speaker 2: but they were all in a position to absorb, to
• 37:03
Speaker 2: take the hit. Really yeah, so many mom and pops,
• 37:06
Speaker 2: so many family restaurants, so many local eateries and pubs
• 37:11
Speaker 2: died on the vine because they couldn't serve customers. And
• 37:16
Speaker 2: so ever since I have been big on what local
• 37:19
Speaker 2: places can we highlight. Let's let's let's find some local
• 37:22
Speaker 2: restaurateurs and shine the light on them, show them the
• 37:26
Speaker 2: power of radio show. Folks, the great grub that they've
• 37:30
Speaker 2: got at their place and maybe drive some more folks
• 37:33
Speaker 2: into their doors. That's the whole idea. That's the whole point.
• 37:35
Speaker 2: And to have fun, to have Shenanigans, to get out
• 37:37
Speaker 2: and get get out and cost trouble and eat some
• 37:39
Speaker 2: chicken wings. Well yeah, I mean, anybody who's seen me
• 37:42
Speaker 2: knows I like my way around food. Do you have
• 37:45
Speaker 2: a favorite variety of wing? It depends on if I'm
• 37:51
Speaker 2: in the mood for hot or not. The older I get,
• 37:54
Speaker 2: the less often I mean in the hot mood. So
• 37:58
Speaker 2: it happens to the best of it.
• 38:00
  Speaker 5: Uh.
• 38:00
Speaker 2: So, you know, I'll go lemon gar like or barbecue
• 38:04
Speaker 2: on on those days. But I don't like being hot
• 38:08
Speaker 2: for the sake of hot. Right. There's a former chain
• 38:12
Speaker 2: that used to have a sauce called three Mile Island,
• 38:15
Speaker 2: and when that wasn't hot enough for folks, they came
• 38:18
Speaker 2: up with six Mile Island. That's just that's just Carolina
• 38:21
Speaker 2: ghost pepper raw for the sake of That's not for me.
• 38:24
Speaker 2: You kind of have flavor. Yeah, if if your hot
• 38:27
Speaker 2: brings a little zip, little zing, a little flavor to it,
• 38:29
Speaker 2: then then we're down. I agree, But I went to
• 38:32
Speaker 2: I've told this story before the listeners. Rob I went
• 38:34
Speaker 2: to one of these chains one time.
• 38:38
Speaker 4: Buddies might have been to a baseball game and I
• 38:40
Speaker 4: went to a We went to a wing place afterwards,
• 38:43
Speaker 4: and my guy that was with me may have had
• 38:46
Speaker 4: a cocktail or twelve.
• 38:47
Speaker 2: Maybe he wasn't driving, by the way.
• 38:49
Speaker 4: There you go and U and he he said, I
• 38:51
Speaker 4: want the hottest wings that you have.
• 38:54
Speaker 2: And we were like, now, I don't know if you
• 38:55
Speaker 2: want to do this. He goes, no, he so I
• 38:57
Speaker 2: want the And so they brought out this con tract
• 39:00
Speaker 2: that you had to sign, and where I was the
• 39:02
Speaker 2: sober one, I had to sign as a witness. Okay,
• 39:06
Speaker 2: uh huh. Generally speaking, Robert, my rule of thumb is
• 39:11
Speaker 2: food should not involve paperwork. Correct. There should not be
• 39:14
Speaker 2: a contract here if any of my lawyer, No, I
• 39:18
Speaker 2: had to sign it as a sober witness. Uh and uh.
• 39:22
Speaker 4: And he ate the wings, and I thought he was
• 39:23
Speaker 4: gonna die, and I'm gonna have to go, you know, explain,
• 39:26
Speaker 4: you know, to his loved one. Well, we went to
• 39:28
Speaker 4: the ballgame with five guys, we only came back with four.
• 39:31
Speaker 2: Well, yeah, and that's a situation where one could suffer,
• 39:34
Speaker 2: not just once, not just twice, but perhaps thrice. The
• 39:38
Speaker 2: gift that keeps on gifting. Yeah, all right, so yeah,
• 39:40
Speaker 2: that that's not what I'm I'm after taste. I'm after atmosphere.
• 39:44
Speaker 2: Uh you know, they tried to put a wing joint
• 39:46
Speaker 2: on the Moon. Food was great, but no atmosphere. The
• 39:49
Speaker 2: uh you know, so the the ambiance, the small town,
• 39:52
Speaker 2: the folks, the food, that's what we're looking for. And
• 39:55
Speaker 2: so so you're not you don't want chains? Is that
• 39:57
Speaker 2: what you're saying? Chains are great, but that's not what
• 40:00
Speaker 2: we're looking forms. And they employ a lot of people,
• 40:03
Speaker 2: And I get and I get that. Yeah, I'm not
• 40:05
Speaker 2: knocking the b dubs of the world, right because I'll
• 40:08
Speaker 2: go there for but I'm thinking more you know, your
• 40:11
Speaker 2: mom and your pop, your your family restaurant, your local pub,
• 40:15
Speaker 2: your cafe. Kind of a place that's right, And there's
• 40:17
Speaker 2: plenty of them here in Charleston and in the surrounding.
• 40:19
Speaker 2: And how far out are you willing to go?
• 40:20
Speaker 4: Because some of those places on your burger tour weren't
• 40:23
Speaker 4: exactly like one town.
• 40:24
Speaker 2: Oh, I would say, Creekers is in Hearts. It was
• 40:26
Speaker 2: an hour to get there and worth it, by the way,
• 40:29
Speaker 2: So I'm willing to travel as long as the weather's behaving.
• 40:33
Speaker 2: So each Thursday morning is when we'll announce where we're
• 40:36
Speaker 2: headed the next Tuesday. We go on Tuesdays for lunchtime,
• 40:40
Speaker 2: and so if you know, if it's a ninety minute drive,
• 40:44
Speaker 2: I'm off the air officially at ten o'clock, hop in
• 40:46
Speaker 2: truck Norris after my meeting, off we go, and I
• 40:49
Speaker 2: can be there by noon. All right, all right? And
• 40:52
Speaker 2: how do you feel about boneless wings? Okay, I know
• 40:55
Speaker 2: people take heat on boneless wings just being oversized nuggets.
• 40:59
  Speaker 2: I guess it. But they're neater I can. I can
• 41:02
Speaker 2: eat boneless wings with a knife and fork and not
• 41:04
Speaker 2: go home a sticky mess. So I'm okay with the
• 41:08
Speaker 2: boneless wings. I'm okay with them.
• 41:10
Speaker 4: So some people wing officionados will say that they're just
• 41:12
Speaker 4: nuggets at that point, okay, yeah, but I'm with you.
• 41:17
Speaker 2: If they're good, does it matter, right, Okay, I don't
• 41:21
Speaker 2: have to go bone in Okay.
• 41:23
Speaker 4: So how do people reach out to you about this?
• 41:26
Speaker 4: Because we did this, you rely on ideas from peace.
• 41:29
Speaker 2: So so yeah, I'm looking for all the suggestions on
• 41:32
Speaker 2: where to go flying down the country Roads for wings.
• 41:34
Speaker 2: Go to the ninety six to one k WS Facebook page.
• 41:38
Speaker 2: You will see a lovely cartoon of me behind a
• 41:41
Speaker 2: giant plate of chicken wings, which is how I hope
• 41:43
Speaker 2: this thing's going to look the whole time. And just
• 41:46
Speaker 2: looking for suggestions. If you've got a favorite place, tell
• 41:49
Speaker 2: tell me all about it. Tag them if you can,
• 41:52
Speaker 2: because that makes them even easier to find. And we'll
• 41:57
Speaker 2: pick out the first one Thursday morning and head down
• 42:00
Speaker 2: there the following Tuesday, and then the Thursday after that
• 42:02
Speaker 2: in the next place, and so on and so forth.
• 42:04
Speaker 2: The entire month of April we had a couple of texts. Honestly,
• 42:07
Speaker 2: the best breaded wings are from Gino's in South Charleston.
• 42:11
Speaker 2: As for flavored, tried Little Caesar's Garlic Parmesan and dip
• 42:14
Speaker 2: your crazy bread in the saw and I have done.
• 42:17
Speaker 2: I've done both of those again, Little Caesar's, Gino's, beat Ubs,
• 42:22
Speaker 2: the chains do great stuff, very consistent, by the way.
• 42:24
Speaker 2: For you're somebody who travels as much as I do,
• 42:27
Speaker 2: having that kind of consistency is important. But I you know,
• 42:29
Speaker 2: I want to find that that joint, that hole in
• 42:33
Speaker 2: the wall. I say those terms affection sure, Yeah, you
• 42:36
Speaker 2: know the kind of place where I grew up. You know,
• 42:39
Speaker 2: I grew up in a town where it says welcome
• 42:40
Speaker 2: to here on both sides of the same sign. You know,
• 42:43
Speaker 2: a one horse town, so small. The one horse is
• 42:44
Speaker 2: a Shetland pony. But we had a really good well,
• 42:48
  Speaker 2: it was Bob's tavern when I was a kid. It's
• 42:50
Speaker 2: not that anymore. That had just extraordinary food, and you
• 42:55
Speaker 2: would it was the kind of place you wouldn't want
• 42:57
Speaker 2: the health department to come in and look too closely.
• 43:00
Speaker 2: But I think that's why the food tastes as good
• 43:02
Speaker 2: as it did. So I'm just saying Texas. Dave Creuton
• 43:07
Speaker 2: says that his hometown of Saint Albans says the best
• 43:09
Speaker 2: chicken wings get the tie chili dipped and grilled with
• 43:12
Speaker 2: ranch dressing at the cafe. You and I have had.
• 43:17
Speaker 2: I have wanged at the cafe. I don't know that
• 43:20
Speaker 2: I've tried all the flavors. I've tried a few, so.
• 43:22
Speaker 4: I think you and I destroyed just a giant plate
• 43:24
Speaker 4: of hot wings with an animal. Yes, so and Crewton,
• 43:27
Speaker 4: by the way, that's our that's my my my celebrity
• 43:30
Speaker 4: dog that I got adopted that's been turned out to
• 43:33
Speaker 4: be the best. What my Friday segment I do the
• 43:35
Speaker 4: adopt me of the week. Uh So he was over
• 43:38
Speaker 4: at the shelter during his salad days. He had the
• 43:41
Speaker 4: name Creuton and he demanded to be called that from
• 43:44
Speaker 4: what I understand, and Crewton has become a social media
• 43:47
Speaker 4: celebrity now the Chronicles of Creuton. So uh uh but yeah,
• 43:50
Speaker 4: I would agree with the cafe. Is Cruton a little crusty?
• 43:54
Speaker 2: Is that I'm ignoring everything you think? Uh?
• 43:56
Speaker 4: Because they got to wrap this segment up, I will
• 43:58
Speaker 4: say another another great price because I'm going to give
• 44:01
Speaker 4: you a couple. I agree with the person that said
• 44:03
Speaker 4: that about Geno's. I know Genoes is a chain, but
• 44:05
Speaker 4: they're a West Virginia based chain, so there's that their
• 44:08
Speaker 4: naked wings are very good and to dip them into
• 44:11
Speaker 4: a sauce, they're very good. Yes, another great place that
• 44:14
Speaker 4: don't sleep on Eleanor Barbecue in h Yeah, Hurricane, you
• 44:18
Speaker 4: and I had this there at Eleanor Barbecue.
• 44:21
Speaker 2: I think we got like the big platter and there
• 44:23
Speaker 2: were a couple of wings on there. So yeah, yeah, yeah,
• 44:27
Speaker 2: I'm I'm I'm game for all of it. All right.
• 44:29
Speaker 2: Uh Anti Pearls honeypot in South Charleston. I've not tried
• 44:33
Speaker 2: anti pearls yet. There you go, all right, there you go?
• 44:36
Speaker 4: Okay, Uh Fireside that's Tayese Valley Bone in Tropical Hobbin Niero.
• 44:41
Speaker 2: Sauce Tropical Hobbinnio. That's an interesting combination. If I correct myself.
• 44:48
Speaker 4: The Geno's in South Charleston is independent, family owned, so
• 44:51
Speaker 4: I will I'll correct myself on that. A lot of
• 44:54
Speaker 4: the Genos and Giovanni's are that way that there.
• 44:56
Speaker 2: And when I say chain, I don't necessarily mean corporate.
• 44:59
Speaker 2: Oh and o, I do mean a franchise debris.
• 45:03
Speaker 4: I gotta like you, all right, So people go to
• 45:05

Speaker 2: so the following Tuesday. All right, Coop, what's your favorite wing?
• 45:19
Speaker 2: Are you be in a position to tell us here
• 45:21
Speaker 2: before we go to break? I'm sorry I kind of
• 45:23
Speaker 2: cut him off guard that he's working in there. That's
• 45:25
Speaker 2: all right. I like I like draw wings and I
• 45:27
Speaker 2: like to put my diffitement, my own sauces.
• 45:29
Speaker 4: Okay, there you go. Okay, it's all right, Rob. We'll
• 45:33
Speaker 4: be listening up real early, yes, sir, all right.

• 48:37
Speaker 2: media going to start treating this like you all did
• 48:39
Speaker 2: in twenty twenty two. Well, appreciate the text. I don't
• 48:44
Speaker 2: know necessariy who you're referring to on conservative media, but
• 48:49
Speaker 2: I can tell you I obviously am very disappointed in
• 48:53
Speaker 2: prices because, well you know, I work for a living
• 48:56
Speaker 2: and don't like to pay too much, and we have
• 48:58
Speaker 2: a president that ran on lowering prices and it didn't happen.
• 49:03
Speaker 2: And my advice to the president would have been, it
• 49:06
Speaker 2: was a time don't run on lowering prices because you're
• 49:08
Speaker 2: the president. Don't know that you can necessarily do that.
• 49:11
Speaker 2: So I hope that answers the question. Programming note, I'll

Speaker 4: little show coming up at noon today powered by a
• 49:30
Speaker 4: Selango Law with thirteen News in tonight Live anchor Mander
• 49:32
Speaker 4: Baron and me. I've been telling you about this special
• 49:34
Speaker 4: program that's going to air tonight on Metro News Television
• 49:38
  Speaker 4: about data centers.
• 49:39
  Speaker 11: Now.
• 49:39
Speaker 4: It's on the campus of Shepherd University, presented by the
• 49:41
Speaker 4: Stubblefield Institute. And it's an interesting panel because there are
• 49:46
Speaker 4: those that are very pro data center, those that are
• 49:48
Speaker 4: very anti, and those that are just not either.
• 49:51
Speaker 2: They're just kind of in the middle talking about the
• 49:53
Speaker 2: economics of the whole thing. So it's on Metro News Television,
• 49:56
Speaker 2: so make sure you download the app. Ashley Horse from
• 49:58
Speaker 2: the Stubblefield Institute will join is to talk about it. Today,
• 50:01
Speaker 2: We're going to talk with the superintendent of schools in
• 50:03
Speaker 2: Wayne County on the show. Today. Jeff Jenkins will stop
• 50:06
Speaker 2: by with the news. Dave Weekly a great commentary this
• 50:09
Speaker 2: morning on the All West Virginia baseball team. We're talking
• 50:13
Speaker 2: about players all from West Virginia. If you were fielding
• 50:16
Speaker 2: the team, who would you choose? Heard the commentary this
• 50:19
Speaker 2: morning and it was pretty good stuff. Dave Weekly is
• 50:22
Speaker 2: going to join us to talk about that. Plus, this
• 50:25
Speaker 2: past weekend there were around two hundred and fifty teams
• 50:29
Speaker 2: at Shawnee for the President's Cup soccer event. Cannan County
• 50:33
Speaker 2: Comission President Minsolango is going to join us on the
• 50:35
Speaker 2: State Wide Show, not necessarily to talk about just that event,
• 50:38
Speaker 2: but also to talk about the business of travel sports
• 50:43
Speaker 2: around the state of West Virginia and in other places.
• 50:46
Speaker 2: Mister Meadows is here, Hey, doing my friend. Yeah, that's
• 50:49
  Speaker 2: Shawnee Development.
• 50:50
  Speaker 7: Man.
• 50:50
Speaker 4: That was a bad idea. Yes, it's horrible. That's horrible, horribly,
• 50:53
Speaker 4: two hundred and fifty teams. I figured, you know, let's
• 50:57
Speaker 4: say maybe five people. I'm just random figure. I'm sure
• 51:01
Speaker 4: Solango's got all of the actual numbers, but let's say
• 51:03
Speaker 4: five people per player when you bring in mamma and
• 51:06
Speaker 4: little baby sisters and so on and so forth. There
• 51:09
Speaker 4: was no hotel rooms anywhere in Charleston, anywhere in Huntington,
• 51:12
  Speaker 4: there was nothing.
• 51:12
Speaker 11: Somebody had a piece and it's blinking me who But
• 51:15
Speaker 11: ten and a half million, I think is what they
• 51:17
Speaker 11: projected the economic impact to be just from this the
• 51:20
Speaker 11: tournament this past weekend.
• 51:21
Speaker 2: Yeah, one weekend. Ten and a half million for the
• 51:24
Speaker 2: And that's not just for that's not the shiny sports complex.
• 51:27
Speaker 2: That's for every round benefit.
• 51:29
Speaker 4: Because if a team plays at ten o'clock on a
• 51:32
Speaker 4: Friday morning, they don't play again. Until eight o'clock the
• 51:34
Speaker 4: next morning. What are they gonna do. They're gonna go
• 51:36
Speaker 4: to restaurants. They're gonna go and I mean, yeah.
• 51:39
Speaker 2: It's good stuff all the time when I drive by it.
• 51:41
Speaker 2: All Right, what you got on the show today?
• 51:42
Speaker 11: So coming up at ten oh six, we're gonna dive
• 51:44
Speaker 11: into data centers with Jim E. Step of the High
• 51:47
Speaker 11: Tech Foundation. He has a lot of knowledge about how
• 51:52
Speaker 11: these work and how they don't work. So think of
• 51:54
Speaker 11: a MythBusters kind of thing. I wanted to get into
• 51:57
Speaker 11: the water issue. I want to get into noise pollution,
• 51:59
Speaker 11: light pollution, really trying to educate people about what is
• 52:03
Speaker 11: concrete and what is not because there is a lot
• 52:05
Speaker 11: of disinformation about data centers. Yeah, there always is, right,
• 52:09
Speaker 11: There's there's a lot of disinformation about things. And he
• 52:11
Speaker 11: does a good job of being unbiased and talking about yeah,
• 52:16
Speaker 11: maybe be concerned about this, but don't be so concerned
• 52:18
Speaker 11: about that. So we'll get into that. I'm gonna talk
• 52:20
Speaker 11: about the FBI facility in Clarksburg. People have no idea
• 52:23
Speaker 11: how huge that is and how important a role that
• 52:25
Speaker 11: plays that and much much more.
• 52:26
Speaker 4: I've actually been there, not under investigation. I mean there
• 52:30
Speaker 4: were you saying anything?
• 52:31
Speaker 2: Whatever, all right, I'll see you later today. I met
• 52:33
Speaker 2: your news mid day. Till then, have fun.
• 52:36
  Speaker 14: I love somebody.
• 52:51
Speaker 1: I mean where you HSA six point five Charleston one
