Transcript
- 0:00Welcome back to Future Forward. Today we're looking
- 0:03at some really significant developments from
- 0:06the World Government Summit 2026. The Dubai Electricity
- 0:10and Water Authority has been laying the groundwork
- 0:13for, well, for the city's future. That's right.
- 0:16His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al -Tayr, the MD
- 0:20and CEO of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority,
- 0:23held a series of high -stakes meetings with global
- 0:26leaders like Mostar, Schneider Electric, and
- 0:29ServiceNow. This is all part of a grand strategy.
- 0:33Right. To solidify Dubai's status as a leading,
- 0:36smart, and sustainable hub. So let's break this
- 0:39down. First, the meeting with Mohamed Jamil al
- 0:43-Ramahi, the CEO of Mostar. What was the core
- 0:46of that discussion? It focused on supercharging
- 0:49their partnership in clean energy. Okay. Directly
- 0:53supporting the UAE's net zero 2050 goals. And
- 0:57the centerpiece of this is the Mohamed bin Rashid
- 1:00al -Maktoum solar park. It's already producing
- 1:033 ,860 megawatts. Wow. And there's a clear roadmap
- 1:08to exceed 8 ,000 megawatts by 2030. That is an
- 1:12immense amount of clean power. And this green
- 1:15vision, it extends beyond just power plants,
- 1:18doesn't it? It does. They also highlighted the
- 1:21growth of the EV green charger network. Yeah.
- 1:24Which now has over 1 ,860 stations. But, you
- 1:29know, beyond the new projects. Right. Their current
- 1:32operational excellence is what's truly remarkable.
- 1:35I mean, the efficiency numbers are just world
- 1:38class. You're talking about the network losses.
- 1:41I read their electricity transmission losses
- 1:43are only 2 .0%. Yeah. Where Europe and the U
- 1:47.S. are at, what, 6 or 7 %? Exactly. And for
- 1:52water, it's 4 .5 % loss. Hmm. Then compared to
- 1:56about 15 % in North America. Then there's the
- 2:00reliability. They achieved a new world record
- 2:03for customer minutes lost. Oh, really? Emphatically,
- 2:06with Dubai averaging just 0 .94 minutes per customer
- 2:11annually. That's less than 60 seconds of outage
- 2:15time per year. That level of service is incredible.
- 2:19So how did the technology partners fit into all
- 2:22this? What about the meeting with Schneider Electric?
- 2:24With Waleed Shetta and Amel Chodley from Schneider
- 2:27Electric, the focus was energy resilience, grid
- 2:31modernization, and green data centers. Okay.
- 2:34And they specifically discussed the one run by
- 2:36Moro Hub, which holds a Guinness World Record
- 2:40for being the largest solar -powered data center.
- 2:43That's a critical piece of the sustainable digital
- 2:46infrastructure. And that infrastructure is getting
- 2:48a massive upgrade, right? I saw a figure for
- 2:52their smart grid investment. A huge one. The
- 2:55Dubai Electricity and Water Authority is investing
- 2:58a total of $7 billion AED in its smart grid up
- 3:02to 2035. Wow. That is the backbone for making
- 3:06Dubai the smartest city in the world. Which leads
- 3:10us perfectly to that final meeting with Cathy
- 3:13Malzais from ServiceNow. This is where the AI
- 3:16strategy comes into play, isn't it? Yes, this
- 3:19is the brain of the operation. The goal is to
- 3:22use advanced AI, analytics, and automated workflows
- 3:25to boost efficiency and enhance the customer
- 3:28experience. Right. His Excellency Saeed Al -Tayr
- 3:31laid out this just a groundbreaking vision for
- 3:35the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority to
- 3:38become the world's very first AI -native utility.
- 3:42An AI -native utility. That's a powerful concept.
- 3:45It's not just about adding AI tools. No. It's
- 3:49about rebuilding the organization's entire strategy
- 3:52and culture around artificial intelligence from
- 3:55the ground up. It's a complete paradigm shift.
- 3:58So these meetings were about creating this powerful
- 4:00synergy. Hmm. Mostar for clean energy, Schneider
- 4:04Electric for resilient infrastructure, and ServiceNow
- 4:07for the intelligence to run it all. It's a blueprint
- 4:10for a truly future -ready city. A comprehensive
- 4:14and inspiring vision for a sustainable future.
- 4:17It will be absolutely fascinating to watch it
- 4:20unfold. Indeed. And now, here's a question we'd
- 4:24like you to think about. As our city's core utilities
- 4:27become AI -native and deeply intelligent, what
- 4:30is one unexpected change you predict for our
- 4:33daily lives?
