  Foreign
• 0:53
  the
• 0:53
  house.
• 0:54
  But
• 0:54
  I
• 0:54
  wanted
• 0:54
  to
• 0:54
  make
• 0:55
  sure
• 0:55
  that
• 0:55
  we
• 0:56
  cover
• 0:56
  this
• 0:56
  really
• 0:56
  well
• 0:57
  and
• 0:57
  you
• 0:57
  understand
• 0:57
  it.
• 0:58
  One
• 0:58
  of
• 0:58
  the
• 0:58
  biggest
• 0:59
  problems
• 1:00
  when
• 1:00
  we're
• 1:00
  talking
• 1:00
  about
• 1:01
  paying
• 1:01
  with
• 1:02
  a
• 1:02
  credit
• 1:02
  card
• 1:02
  or
• 1:03
  a
• 1:03
  debit
• 1:03
  card
• 1:03
  with
• 1:03
  a
• 1:04
  contractor
• 1:04
  is
• 1:04
  not
• 1:05
  so
• 1:05
  much
• 1:05
  you
• 1:05
  paying
• 1:06
  them
• 1:06
  and
• 1:07
  the
• 1:07
  fees
• 1:07
  associated.
• 1:08
  But
• 1:08
  I
• 1:08
  have
• 1:08
  seen
• 1:09
  contractors
• 1:10
  get
• 1:10
  burned
• 1:11
  by
• 1:11
  upset
• 1:12
  homeowners.
• 1:13
  So
• 1:13
  the
• 1:14
  one
• 1:14
  I
• 1:14
  saw
• 1:14
  was
• 1:14
  a
• 1:15
  contractor
• 1:16
  that
• 1:16
  took
• 1:16
  the
• 1:17
  down
• 1:17
  payment
• 1:17
  and
• 1:17
  the
• 1:18
  cabinet
• 1:18
  payment
• 1:18
  on
• 1:19
  Visa,
• 1:20
  MasterCard
• 1:20
  or
• 1:20
  whatever.
• 1:21
  And
• 1:21
  I
• 1:21
  think
• 1:21
  what
• 1:22
  it
• 1:22
  was
• 1:22
  is
• 1:22
  the
• 1:22
  homeowner
• 1:23
  wanted
• 1:24
  to
• 1:24
  get
• 1:24
  their
• 1:24
  miles
• 1:25
  so
• 1:25
  they
• 1:25
  could
• 1:26
  pay
• 1:26
  for
• 1:26
  a
• 1:26
  trip.
• 1:27
  So
• 1:28
  they
• 1:28
  wanted
• 1:28
  to
• 1:28
  get
• 1:29
  their
• 1:29
  airline
• 1:29
  miles.
• 1:29
  Okay,
• 1:30
  I
• 1:30
  understand
• 1:30
  that.
• 1:31
  But
• 1:32
  the
• 1:32
  problem
• 1:32
  was
• 1:32
  is
• 1:33
  the
• 1:33
  remodel
• 1:34
  went
• 1:34
  along,
• 1:34
  they
• 1:34
  paid
• 1:34
  the
• 1:34
  deposit
• 1:35
  and
• 1:35
  their
• 1:35
  cabin
• 1:35
  deposit
• 1:36
  down
• 1:36
  on
• 1:36
  that
• 1:37
  cabinet
• 1:37
  showed
• 1:37
  up
• 1:38
  and
• 1:38
  the
• 1:38
  homeowner
• 1:38
  wasn't
• 1:39
  totally
• 1:39
  happy
• 1:40
  with
• 1:40
  the
• 1:40
  finish
• 1:40
  and
• 1:41
  I
• 1:41
  think
• 1:41
  the
• 1:41
  contractor
• 1:41
  was
• 1:42
  ordering
• 1:42
  doors
• 1:42
  or
• 1:42
  something.
• 1:43
  When
• 1:43
  it
• 1:43
  comes
• 1:44
  to
• 1:44
  remodeling
• 1:44
  and
• 1:45
  renovating
• 1:45
  your
• 1:45
  home,
• 1:46
  there
• 1:46
  is
• 1:46
  a
• 1:46
  lot
• 1:47
  to
• 1:47
  know.
• 1:47
  But
• 1:48
  we've
• 1:48
  got
• 1:48
  you
• 1:49
  covered.
• 1:50
  This
• 1:50
  is
• 1:51
  a

• 1:56
  I
• 1:56
  am
• 1:57
  Eric
• 1:57
  G.
• 1:58
  Thanks
• 1:58
  for
• 1:58
  joining
• 1:59
  me
• 1:59
  today.
• 1:59
  Thanks
• 2:00
  for
• 2:00
  tuning
• 2:00
  in.
• 2:01
  Whether
• 2:01
  you're
• 2:01
  catching
• 2:01
  me
• 2:01
  on
• 2:01
  the
• 2:02
  national
• 2:02
  radio
• 2:02
  show,
• 2:02
  the
• 2:03
  podcast
• 2:03
  here
• 2:04
  or
• 2:04
  even
• 2:04
  us
• 2:04
  out
• 2:05
  streaming
• 2:05
  there,
• 2:06
  we've
• 2:06
  got
• 2:06
  something
• 2:06
  hopefully
• 2:07
  for
• 2:07
  you
• 2:08
  every
• 2:08
  single
• 2:09
  week.
• 2:09
  Today
• 2:10
  we're
• 2:10
  going
• 2:10
  to
• 2:10
  be
• 2:10
  diving
• 2:10
  into
• 2:11
  a
• 2:11
  bunch
• 2:11
  of
• 2:11
  different
• 2:11
  stuff.
• 2:12
  But
• 2:13
  first
• 2:13
  we
• 2:14
  are
• 2:14
  brought
• 2:14
  to
• 2:14
  you
• 2:14
  by
• 2:14
  our
• 2:14
  friends
• 2:15
  over

• 2:19
  for
• 2:19
  that
• 2:19
  perfect
• 2:20
  barbecue
• 2:20
  on
• 2:21
  a
• 2:21
  budget.
• 2:22
  Now
• 2:22
  I
• 2:22
  wanted
• 2:22
  to
• 2:23
  talk
• 2:23
  a
• 2:23
  little
• 2:23
  bit
• 2:24
  about
• 2:24
  here,
• 2:24
  our
• 2:25
  top
• 2:25
  10
• 2:25
  ways
• 2:26
  a
• 2:26
  bad
• 2:27
  contractor
• 2:28
  can
• 2:28
  scam
• 2:28
  you.
• 2:29
  And
• 2:29
  I
• 2:29
  tell
• 2:29
  you
• 2:30
  what,
• 2:30
  there's
• 2:30
  a
• 2:30
  ton
• 2:31
  of
• 2:31
  great
• 2:32
  contractors
• 2:32
  out
• 2:33
  there.
• 2:33
  But
• 2:34
  just
• 2:34
  like
• 2:34
  any
• 2:35
  career,
• 2:36
  any
• 2:37
  profession,
• 2:38
  there
• 2:38
  are
• 2:38
  those
• 2:39
  handfuls
• 2:39
  out
• 2:40
  there
• 2:40
  trying
• 2:40
  to
• 2:40
  take
• 2:40
  advantage
• 2:41
  of
• 2:41
  people
• 2:42
  and
• 2:42
  just
• 2:43
  absolutely
• 2:44
  doing
• 2:45
  no
• 2:45
  good.
• 2:46
  And
• 2:46
  so
• 2:46
  I'm
• 2:46
  going
• 2:46
  to
• 2:47
  really
• 2:47
  try
• 2:47
  to
• 2:47
  help
• 2:47
  you
• 2:47
  today
• 2:48
  to
• 2:48
  weed
• 2:48
  those
• 2:49
  out.
• 2:49
  So
• 2:49
  at
• 2:49
  least
• 2:50
  you
• 2:50
  are
• 2:50
  aware
• 2:51
  of
• 2:51
  these
• 2:51
  and
• 2:52
  if
• 2:52
  you've
• 2:52
  got
• 2:52
  a
• 2:52
  story,
• 2:52
  I'd
• 2:53
  love
• 2:53
  to
• 2:53
  hear
• 2:53
  it.
• 2:53
  You
• 2:53
  can
• 2:53
  contact
• 2:54
  me
• 2:54
  over
• 2:54
  to
• 2:55
  roundthehouse
• 2:55
  online.com
• 2:57
  love
• 2:57
  to
• 2:57
  hear
• 2:57
  your
• 2:57
  stories
• 2:58
  and
• 2:58
  maybe
• 2:58
  yours
• 2:59
  can
• 2:59
  end
• 2:59
  up
• 2:59
  in
• 3:00
  a
• 3:00
  future
• 3:01
  episode
• 3:01
  here.
• 3:02
  I've
• 3:03
  got
• 3:03
  10
• 3:03
  of
• 3:03
  them
• 3:03
  here
• 3:03
  that
• 3:04
  we're
• 3:04
  gonna
• 3:04
  talk
• 3:04
  about
• 3:04
  this
• 3:05
  hour
• 3:05
  and
• 3:05
  I
• 3:05
  think
• 3:05
  these
• 3:06
  can
• 3:06
  really
• 3:06
  help
• 3:06
  you.
• 3:07
  So
• 3:07
  at
• 3:07
  least
• 3:07
  you're
• 3:07
  aware
• 3:08
  so
• 3:08
  you
• 3:08
  can
• 3:08
  look
• 3:08
  for
• 3:08
  em
• 3:09
  if
• 3:09
  you're
• 3:09
  hiring
• 3:10
  a
• 3:10
  contractor
• 3:11
  out
• 3:11
  there.
• 3:12
  Now
• 3:12
  these
• 3:13
  are
• 3:13
  ones
• 3:13
  this
• 3:14
  is
• 3:14
  just
• 3:14
  not
• 3:14
  a
• 3:14
  end
• 3:15
  all
• 3:15
  be
• 3:15
  all
• 3:15
  at
• 3:15
  10.
• 3:16
  But
• 3:16
  these
• 3:16
  are
• 3:16
  the
• 3:16
  most
• 3:17
  popular
• 3:17
  ones
• 3:17
  that
• 3:18
  I
• 3:18
  have
• 3:18
  seen
• 3:19
  out
• 3:19
  There
• 3:19
  that
• 3:20
  are
• 3:20
  probably
• 3:20
  the
• 3:20
  most
• 3:21
  common.
• 3:21
  And
• 3:22
  there's
• 3:22
  some
• 3:22
  great
• 3:23
  contractors,
• 3:23
  like
• 3:23
  I
• 3:23
  said,
• 3:24
  out
• 3:24
  there,
• 3:24
  that
• 3:25
  do
• 3:25
  all
• 3:25
  this
• 3:25
  stuff.
• 3:26
  And
• 3:26
  that's
• 3:26
  really
• 3:26
  where
• 3:26
  I'm
• 3:26
  gonna
• 3:27
  try
• 3:27
  to
• 3:27
  help
• 3:27
  navigate
• 3:28
  you
• 3:28
  to
• 3:28
  do
• 3:28
  this.
• 3:29
  And
• 3:29
  the
• 3:29
  first
• 3:30
  one
• 3:30
  here
• 3:31
  is
• 3:31
  a.
• 3:32
  This
• 3:32
  was
• 3:32
  actually
• 3:33
  inspired
• 3:34
  by
• 3:34
  a
• 3:34
  contractor
• 3:35
  that
• 3:35
  I've
• 3:35
  been
• 3:35
  watching
• 3:36
  up
• 3:36
  in
• 3:37
  Washington
• 3:37
  state.
• 3:38
  And
• 3:38
  every
• 3:39
  few
• 3:39
  years
• 3:39
  they
• 3:39
  just
• 3:40
  absolutely
• 3:41
  get
• 3:41
  nailed
• 3:42
  on
• 3:42
  this
• 3:42
  and
• 3:43
  end
• 3:43
  up
• 3:43
  in
• 3:43
  a
• 3:43
  lawsuit,
• 3:44
  ends
• 3:44
  up
• 3:44
  costing
• 3:45
  a
• 3:45
  ton
• 3:45
  of
• 3:45
  money.
• 3:46
  And
• 3:46
  they
• 3:46
  wait
• 3:46
  a
• 3:46
  few
• 3:46
  years
• 3:47
  and
• 3:47
  do
• 3:47
  it
• 3:47
  again.
• 3:48
  And
• 3:48
  this
• 3:48
  is
• 3:49
  changing
• 3:49
  the
• 3:49
  budget
• 3:50
  after
• 3:51
  the
• 3:51
  contract
• 3:52
  without
• 3:53
  changes
• 3:53
  in
• 3:54
  scope
• 3:54
  and
• 3:55
  costs.
• 3:56
  So
• 3:56
  what
• 3:56
  I
• 3:57
  see
• 3:57
  is
• 3:58
  they
• 3:58
  will
• 3:58
  start
• 3:58
  a
• 3:59
  project
• 3:59
  and
• 3:59
  they
• 3:59
  will
• 4:00
  go,
• 4:00
  okay,
• 4:00
  this
• 4:00
  is,
• 4:01
  we're
• 4:01
  going
• 4:01
  to
• 4:02
  do
• 4:02
  A
• 4:02
  through
• 4:02
  F
• 4:03
  here
• 4:03
  and
• 4:03
  we're
• 4:04
  going
• 4:04
  to
• 4:04
  spell
• 4:04
  it
• 4:04
  out.
• 4:05
  And
• 4:06
  your
• 4:06
  labor
• 4:07
  cost
• 4:07
  is
• 4:07
  this
• 4:07
  and
• 4:08
  your
• 4:08
  material
• 4:08
  cost
• 4:08
  is
• 4:09
  this.
• 4:09
  They
• 4:09
  break
• 4:09
  it
• 4:09
  out.
• 4:10
  The
• 4:10
  problem
• 4:10
  is
• 4:11
  they
• 4:11
  don't
• 4:11
  do
• 4:11
  a
• 4:11
  great
• 4:12
  contract
• 4:12
  that
• 4:12
  tells
• 4:12
  you
• 4:13
  what
• 4:13
  you're
• 4:13
  getting.
• 4:14
  And
• 4:14
  then
• 4:14
  over
• 4:14
  the
• 4:15
  next
• 4:15
  year
• 4:15
  or
• 4:15
  so
• 4:16
  they
• 4:16
  hit
• 4:16
  you
• 4:16
  with
• 4:17
  new
• 4:17
  upgrades.
• 4:18
  Even
• 4:18
  though
• 4:19
  scope
• 4:19
  and
• 4:20
  cost
• 4:20
  hasn't
• 4:20
  really
• 4:21
  changed.
• 4:22
  Now
• 4:22
  the
• 4:22
  funny
• 4:22
  thing
• 4:23
  is
• 4:23
  here
• 4:24
  is
• 4:24
  that,
• 4:25
  that
• 4:25
  this
• 4:26
  is
• 4:26
  where
• 4:26
  it
• 4:26
  gets
• 4:26
  a
• 4:26
  little
• 4:27
  bit
• 4:27
  sketchy,
• 4:28
  is
• 4:28
  that
• 4:29
  they
• 4:29
  ask
• 4:29
  for
• 4:30
  huge
• 4:30
  deposits.
• 4:31
  And
• 4:31
  we'll
• 4:31
  talk
• 4:31
  about
• 4:32
  that
• 4:32
  a
• 4:32
  little
• 4:32
  bit
• 4:32
  later.
• 4:33
  But
• 4:33
  these
• 4:34
  people
• 4:34
  primarily
• 4:35
  prey
• 4:36
  on
• 4:36
  higher
• 4:37
  end
• 4:37
  clients.
• 4:38
  And
• 4:38
  they
• 4:38
  come
• 4:38
  in
• 4:39
  and
• 4:39
  they're
• 4:40
  really
• 4:40
  trying
• 4:41
  to
• 4:41
  build
• 4:41
  the
• 4:41
  trust,
• 4:42
  build
• 4:42
  the
• 4:42
  friendship.
• 4:43
  Many
• 4:44
  of
• 4:44
  these
• 4:44
  people
• 4:44
  that
• 4:44
  they
• 4:44
  knew
• 4:45
  beforehand
• 4:45
  and
• 4:46
  they
• 4:46
  are
• 4:46
  luxury
• 4:47
  clients,
• 4:48
  so
• 4:48
  they're
• 4:48
  taking
• 4:48
  on
• 4:49
  remodeling
• 4:50
  projects
• 4:50
  that
• 4:50
  are
• 4:51
  3,
• 4:51
  4,
• 4:52
  5,
• 4:53
  $600,000.
• 4:54
  And
• 4:55
  it's
• 4:55
  always
• 4:56
  fascinating
• 4:56
  to
• 4:57
  me
• 4:57
  to
• 4:57
  read
• 4:58
  the
• 4:58
  court
• 4:58
  papers
• 4:59
  because
• 4:59
  in
• 5:00
  Washington
• 5:00
  state
• 5:00
  you
• 5:00
  can
• 5:01
  do
• 5:01
  it.
• 5:01
  And
• 5:01
  I
• 5:01
  had
• 5:01
  somebody
• 5:01
  send
• 5:02
  me
• 5:02
  this,
• 5:02
  which
• 5:02
  was
• 5:02
  awesome,
• 5:03
  so
• 5:04
  I
• 5:04
  could
• 5:04
  actually
• 5:04
  read
• 5:05
  what's
• 5:05
  going
• 5:05
  on.
• 5:06
  And
• 5:06
  so
• 5:06
  that
• 5:06
  way
• 5:06
  you
• 5:07
  get
• 5:07
  at
• 5:07
  least
• 5:08
  the
• 5:08
  perspective
• 5:09
  of
• 5:09
  the
• 5:10
  plaintiff
• 5:10
  in
• 5:11
  this
• 5:11
  case
• 5:11
  and
• 5:11
  so
• 5:11
  you
• 5:12
  can
• 5:12
  see
• 5:12
  what's
• 5:12
  going
• 5:12
  on.
• 5:13
  And
• 5:13
  if
• 5:13
  you
• 5:13
  start
• 5:13
  to
• 5:14
  compare
• 5:14
  notes
• 5:14
  between
• 5:15
  different
• 5:15
  court
• 5:16
  cases,
• 5:16
  you
• 5:17
  can
• 5:17
  see
• 5:17
  the
• 5:17
  same
• 5:18
  process
• 5:18
  happens.
• 5:19
  And
• 5:20
  anytime
• 5:21
  that
• 5:21
  you're
• 5:21
  even
• 5:22
  tackling
• 5:22
  a
• 5:22
  400
• 5:23
  project,
• 5:23
  500,
• 5:24
  000
• 5:24
  project,
• 5:25
  and
• 5:25
  they're
• 5:26
  asking
• 5:26
  for
• 5:26
  at
• 5:26
  least
• 5:27
  50
• 5:27
  or
• 5:28
  60
• 5:28
  or
• 5:28
  70%
• 5:29
  down,
• 5:30
  you
• 5:30
  better
• 5:31
  have
• 5:31
  a
• 5:31
  nice,
• 5:32
  really
• 5:32
  good
• 5:33
  list
• 5:34
  of
• 5:34
  what's
• 5:35
  getting
• 5:35
  bought.
• 5:35
  And
• 5:36
  we'll
• 5:36
  talk
• 5:36
  about
• 5:36
  this
• 5:37
  later
• 5:37
  in
• 5:37
  the
• 5:37
  show.
• 5:38
  But
• 5:38
  this
• 5:38
  is
• 5:39
  one
• 5:39
  of
• 5:39
  those
• 5:39
  things
• 5:40
  that
• 5:40
  if
• 5:40
  you're
• 5:41
  in
• 5:41
  a
• 5:41
  luxury
• 5:41
  project,
• 5:43
  buyer
• 5:43
  beware,
• 5:44
  especially
• 5:45
  in
• 5:45
  the
• 5:45
  Seattle
• 5:46
  area.
• 5:46
  And
• 5:47
  what's
• 5:47
  happening
• 5:47
  here
• 5:48
  is
• 5:48
  that
• 5:48
  you're
• 5:48
  seeing
• 5:49
  people
• 5:49
  come
• 5:49
  in,
• 5:50
  they'll
• 5:50
  design
• 5:50
  it
• 5:51
  out,
• 5:51
  they'll
• 5:51
  give
• 5:51
  a
• 5:51
  budget.
• 5:52
  Now
• 5:52
  what
• 5:52
  should
• 5:53
  happen
• 5:53
  is
• 5:53
  if
• 5:54
  you
• 5:54
  have
• 5:54
  a
• 5:54
  contract
• 5:55
  and
• 5:56
  you're
• 5:56
  changing
• 5:57
  things
• 5:57
  to
• 5:57
  that
• 5:57
  contract,
• 5:58
  there
• 5:59
  needs
• 5:59
  to
• 5:59
  be
• 5:59
  a
• 5:59
  change
• 6:00
  order
• 6:01
  written.
• 6:02
  So
• 6:03
  if
• 6:03
  you've
• 6:03
  got
• 6:03
  a
• 6:03
  contract
• 6:04
  fully
• 6:04
  written
• 6:04
  out
• 6:05
  and
• 6:05
  you
• 6:05
  go,
• 6:05
  wow,
• 6:06
  okay,
• 6:06
  this
• 6:06
  is
• 6:07
  all
• 6:07
  said
• 6:07
  and
• 6:08
  done,
• 6:08
  start
• 6:09
  to
• 6:09
  finish,
• 6:09
  this
• 6:09
  is
• 6:09
  what
• 6:10
  it
• 6:10
  should
• 6:10
  be.
• 6:10
  If
• 6:10
  you're
• 6:10
  going
• 6:10
  to
• 6:10
  make
• 6:11
  changes,
• 6:11
  that
• 6:12
  needs
• 6:12
  to
• 6:12
  happen.
• 6:13
  And
• 6:14
  there
• 6:14
  are
• 6:14
  hidden
• 6:14
  things
• 6:15
  that
• 6:15
  will
• 6:15
  come
• 6:15
  up
• 6:16
  that
• 6:16
  can
• 6:16
  be
• 6:16
  big.
• 6:17
  But
• 6:17
  those
• 6:18
  hidden
• 6:18
  things
• 6:18
  should
• 6:19
  generally
• 6:19
  be
• 6:20
  addressed
• 6:21
  on
• 6:21
  the
• 6:21
  front
• 6:21
  end.
• 6:22
  If
• 6:22
  they're
• 6:22
  a
• 6:22
  good
• 6:22
  contractor,
• 6:24
  a
• 6:24
  good
• 6:24
  contractor
• 6:25
  will
• 6:25
  look
• 6:25
  at
• 6:25
  it
• 6:25
  and
• 6:25
  go,
• 6:25
  this
• 6:25
  house
• 6:26
  has
• 6:26
  been
• 6:26
  remodeled
• 6:26
  five
• 6:27
  or
• 6:27
  six
• 6:27
  times
• 6:27
  before.
• 6:28
  When
• 6:28
  we
• 6:28
  get
• 6:29
  these
• 6:29
  walls
• 6:29
  opened
• 6:30
  up,
• 6:30
  I
• 6:30
  don't
• 6:30
  know
• 6:31
  what
• 6:31
  I
• 6:31
  have
• 6:31
  to
• 6:31
  fix.
• 6:31
  That
• 6:32
  conversation
• 6:33
  should
• 6:33
  be
• 6:33
  with
• 6:33
  you,
• 6:34
  the
• 6:34
  homeowner.
• 6:35
  So
• 6:35
  these
• 6:35
  things
• 6:36
  should
• 6:36
  be
• 6:36
  addressed
• 6:37
  firsthand.
• 6:37
  And
• 6:37
  if
• 6:37
  you
• 6:37
  open
• 6:38
  the
• 6:38
  wall
• 6:38
  up
• 6:38
  and
• 6:38
  go,
• 6:38
  wow,
• 6:39
  I
• 6:39
  gotta
• 6:39
  reframe
• 6:40
  two
• 6:41
  walls,
• 6:41
  we
• 6:41
  gotta
• 6:41
  put
• 6:42
  new
• 6:42
  siding
• 6:42
  on
• 6:42
  the
• 6:42
  outside
• 6:43
  of
• 6:43
  the
• 6:43
  house,
• 6:43
  we
• 6:43
  gotta
• 6:43
  re
• 6:43
  insulate
• 6:44
  it,
• 6:44
  we
• 6:44
  gotta
• 6:44
  get
• 6:44
  this
• 6:44
  up
• 6:45
  to
• 6:45
  code.
• 6:45
  Totally
• 6:46
  get
• 6:46
  that.
• 6:47
  But
• 6:47
  when
• 6:48
  a
• 6:48
  contractor
• 6:49
  goes
• 6:50
  for
• 6:50
  the
• 6:50
  money
• 6:50
  grab
• 6:51
  just
• 6:51
  because
• 6:52
  they
• 6:52
  think
• 6:52
  they
• 6:52
  can
• 6:53
  get
• 6:53
  more
• 6:53
  money
• 6:54
  out
• 6:54
  of
• 6:54
  the
• 6:54
  client,
• 6:55
  that's
• 6:55
  where
• 6:56
  I
• 6:56
  get
• 6:56
  really
• 6:56
  upset.
• 6:57
  And
• 6:58
  I
• 6:58
  don't
• 6:58
  like
• 6:58
  seeing
• 6:58
  people
• 6:59
  take
• 6:59
  advantage
• 6:59
  of
• 6:59
  it.
• 7:00
  So
• 7:00
  buyer
• 7:01
  beware
• 7:01
  on
• 7:01
  a
• 7:02
  company
• 7:02
  in
• 7:02
  Seattle,
• 7:03
  that's
• 7:03
  something
• 7:03
  I'm
• 7:03
  not
• 7:03
  gonna
• 7:04
  name
• 7:04
  em
• 7:04
  out
• 7:04
  there,
• 7:04
  cause
• 7:04
  I'm
• 7:05
  not
• 7:05
  gonna
• 7:05
  get
• 7:05
  my
• 7:05
  name
• 7:05
  drug
• 7:06
  in
• 7:06
  the
• 7:06
  that
• 7:06
  mud
• 7:07
  up
• 7:07
  there.
• 7:07
  But
• 7:08
  just
• 7:08
  be
• 7:08
  very
• 7:09
  careful
• 7:09
  out
• 7:09
  there
• 7:09
  with
• 7:09
  high
• 7:10
  end
• 7:10
  projects
• 7:11
  of
• 7:11
  who
• 7:11
  you're
• 7:11
  talking
• 7:12
  to.
• 7:12
  And
• 7:13
  that
• 7:13
  can
• 7:13
  be
• 7:13
  a
• 7:13
  big
• 7:13
  deal.
• 7:14
  So
• 7:14
  watch
• 7:15
  out
• 7:15
  for
• 7:15
  that
• 7:15
  change
• 7:15
  in
• 7:15
  budget
• 7:16
  after
• 7:16
  the
• 7:16
  contract
• 7:17
  without
• 7:18
  changes
• 7:18
  in
• 7:18
  scope
• 7:19
  and
• 7:19
  costs.
• 7:19
  Now
• 7:20
  number
• 7:20
  two
• 7:20
  is
• 7:20
  a
• 7:20
  big
• 7:21
  one.
• 7:21
  And
• 7:21
  this
• 7:21
  is
• 7:22
  primarily
• 7:22
  where
• 7:23
  I
• 7:23
  see
• 7:23
  it
• 7:23
  is
• 7:24
  from
• 7:25
  a
• 7:25
  couple
• 7:25
  different
• 7:26
  places.
• 7:27
  Next
• 7:27
  door,
• 7:28
  that
• 7:29
  ad,
• 7:29
  that
• 7:29
  app
• 7:30
  out
• 7:30
  there,
• 7:30
  you
• 7:31
  see
• 7:31
  that
• 7:31
  next
• 7:31
  door
• 7:31
  you'll
• 7:32
  see
• 7:32
  Craigslist,
• 7:32
  you'll
• 7:33
  see
• 7:33
  Facebook,
• 7:34
  you'll
• 7:34
  see
• 7:34
  Facebook
• 7:35
  groups,
• 7:36
  that
• 7:36
  kind
• 7:36
  of
• 7:36
  thing.
• 7:37
  And
• 7:37
  these
• 7:37
  are
• 7:38
  contractors
• 7:39
  that
• 7:39
  are
• 7:39
  not
• 7:39
  being
• 7:40
  licensed,
• 7:40
  bonded
• 7:41
  and
• 7:41
  insured.
• 7:42
  Now
• 7:42
  here's
• 7:42
  the
• 7:43
  thing
• 7:43
  there.
• 7:43
  This
• 7:43
  is
• 7:44
  a
• 7:44
  very
• 7:44
  regional
• 7:45
  thing.
• 7:46
  Now
• 7:47
  in
• 7:47
  my
• 7:47
  state,
• 7:48
  in
• 7:48
  Oregon
• 7:49
  and
• 7:49
  in
• 7:49
  Washington,
• 7:50
  you
• 7:51
  are
• 7:51
  licensed
• 7:52
  through
• 7:52
  the
• 7:52
  state.
• 7:53
  But
• 7:53
  if
• 7:54
  you
• 7:54
  get
• 7:54
  up
• 7:54
  in
• 7:54
  the
• 7:54
  northeast,
• 7:55
  they
• 7:55
  could
• 7:55
  be
• 7:56
  licensed
• 7:56
  by
• 7:56
  the
• 7:57
  city,
• 7:57
  they
• 7:58
  could
• 7:58
  be
• 7:58
  licensed
• 7:59
  by
• 7:59
  the
• 7:59
  county,
• 7:59
  the
• 8:00
  township,
• 8:01
  they
• 8:01
  could
• 8:01
  be
• 8:01
  the
• 8:02
  state
• 8:02
  as
• 8:02
  well.
• 8:02
  So
• 8:03
  it's
• 8:03
  very
• 8:03
  different
• 8:04
  where
• 8:04
  you
• 8:04
  go.
• 8:04
  And
• 8:05
  there
• 8:05
  are
• 8:05
  some
• 8:05
  places
• 8:06
  that
• 8:06
  don't
• 8:06
  even
• 8:06
  really
• 8:07
  require
• 8:07
  contractor
• 8:08
  licensing.
• 8:09
  But
• 8:09
  if
• 8:09
  they're
• 8:09
  not
• 8:10
  licensed,
• 8:11
  they
• 8:11
  still
• 8:12
  should
• 8:12
  have
• 8:12
  insurance
• 8:13
  and
• 8:14
  a
• 8:14
  bond.
• 8:15
  And
• 8:15
  that's
• 8:15
  a
• 8:15
  big
• 8:16
  one.
• 8:16
  And
• 8:17
  here's
• 8:17
  why.
• 8:17
  And
• 8:17
  we've
• 8:17
  talked
• 8:18
  about
• 8:18
  this
• 8:18
  a
• 8:18
  million
• 8:18
  times
• 8:18
  in
• 8:19
  the
• 8:19
  show,
• 8:19
  but
• 8:19
  if
• 8:19
  you're
• 8:19
  just
• 8:19
  Joining
• 8:20
  us,
• 8:20
  I
• 8:20
  want
• 8:20
  to
• 8:20
  make
• 8:20
  sure
• 8:20
  to
• 8:21
  not
• 8:21
  skip
• 8:21
  over
• 8:21
  you
• 8:22
  in
• 8:22
  this.
• 8:22
  What
• 8:23
  can
• 8:23
  happen
• 8:23
  is
• 8:23
  if
• 8:23
  they're
• 8:24
  out
• 8:24
  there
• 8:24
  working
• 8:24
  and
• 8:25
  somebody
• 8:25
  gets
• 8:25
  hurt,
• 8:26
  guess
• 8:26
  what,
• 8:27
  if
• 8:28
  it's
• 8:28
  one
• 8:29
  of
• 8:29
  their
• 8:29
  employees
• 8:29
  and
• 8:30
  they're
• 8:30
  not
• 8:30
  a
• 8:30
  licensed
• 8:31
  bonded
• 8:31
  insured
• 8:32
  company,
• 8:32
  they're
• 8:33
  your
• 8:33
  employees.
• 8:33
  So
• 8:34
  you
• 8:34
  have
• 8:34
  to
• 8:34
  pay
• 8:34
  for
• 8:34
  their
• 8:35
  medical
• 8:35
  or
• 8:35
  their
• 8:36
  disability
• 8:36
  or
• 8:36
  anything
• 8:37
  else.
• 8:37
  So
• 8:38
  this
• 8:38
  is
• 8:38
  really
• 8:38
  one
• 8:38
  where
• 8:39
  you
• 8:39
  want
• 8:39
  to
• 8:39
  make
• 8:39
  sure
• 8:39
  that
• 8:39
  they're
• 8:39
  licensed,
• 8:40
  bonded
• 8:40
  insured
• 8:40
  and
• 8:41
  if
• 8:41
  they
• 8:41
  have
• 8:41
  employees
• 8:41
  that
• 8:41
  they're
• 8:42
  playing
• 8:42
  paying
• 8:43
  for
• 8:43
  the
• 8:43
  workers
• 8:43
  compensation
• 8:44
  insurance
• 8:45
  and
• 8:45
  check
• 8:45
  with
• 8:46
  your
• 8:46
  governing
• 8:47
  body
• 8:47
  for
• 8:47
  contractors
• 8:48
  to
• 8:48
  make
• 8:48
  sure
• 8:48
  that's
• 8:48
  all
• 8:49
  being
• 8:49
  done.
• 8:50
  Now
• 8:50
  the
• 8:50
  big
• 8:50
  thing
• 8:50
  with
• 8:51
  that
• 8:51
  is,
• 8:51
  is
• 8:51
  too
• 8:51
  is
• 8:52
  check
• 8:52
  when
• 8:52
  you're
• 8:53
  going
• 8:53
  through
• 8:53
  the
• 8:53
  quote
• 8:54
  process
• 8:54
  where
• 8:55
  you're
• 8:55
  weeding
• 8:55
  out
• 8:55
  the
• 8:56
  contractors
• 8:56
  you
• 8:56
  want
• 8:56
  to
• 8:57
  work
• 8:57
  with.
• 8:57
  Also
• 8:58
  the
• 8:58
  day
• 8:58
  you're
• 8:59
  signing
• 8:59
  the
• 8:59
  contract,
• 9:00
  the
• 9:00
  contractor's
• 9:01
  coming
• 9:01
  over
• 9:01
  going,
• 9:01
  hey,
• 9:01
  I'm
• 9:01
  going
• 9:01
  to
• 9:01
  meet
• 9:02
  you
• 9:02
  at
• 9:02
  your
• 9:02
  house,
• 9:02
  3:00,
• 9:03
  get
• 9:03
  your
• 9:03
  checkbook
• 9:04
  ready.
• 9:05
  We're
• 9:05
  going
• 9:05
  to
• 9:05
  sign
• 9:05
  the
• 9:06
  contract
• 9:06
  that
• 9:07
  morning,
• 9:07
  call
• 9:08
  and
• 9:08
  verify
• 9:08
  that
• 9:09
  all
• 9:09
  those
• 9:09
  things
• 9:09
  are
• 9:09
  still
• 9:10
  in
• 9:10
  place.
• 9:11
  Because
• 9:11
  if
• 9:11
  weeks
• 9:12
  later
• 9:12
  they
• 9:12
  cancel
• 9:13
  that
• 9:13
  insurance,
• 9:14
  you
• 9:15
  might
• 9:15
  still
• 9:15
  be
• 9:15
  covered
• 9:16
  through
• 9:16
  the
• 9:16
  project.
• 9:17
  So
• 9:17
  it's
• 9:17
  good
• 9:18
  to
• 9:18
  check
• 9:18
  that
• 9:18
  stuff
• 9:18
  and
• 9:19
  make
• 9:19
  sure
• 9:19
  that's
• 9:19
  going.
• 9:20
  And
• 9:20
  again,
• 9:21
  that's
• 9:21
  one
• 9:21
  of
• 9:21
  those
• 9:21
  things
• 9:22
  that
• 9:22
  some
• 9:22
  states
• 9:23
  are
• 9:23
  really
• 9:23
  good
• 9:23
  at
• 9:23
  this.
• 9:24
  If
• 9:25
  the
• 9:25
  insurance
• 9:25
  company
• 9:26
  cancels
• 9:27
  their
• 9:27
  insurance,
• 9:28
  to
• 9:28
  cancel
• 9:29
  it,
• 9:29
  the
• 9:29
  first
• 9:29
  thing
• 9:30
  legally
• 9:30
  they
• 9:30
  do
• 9:30
  in
• 9:30
  that
• 9:30
  state
• 9:31
  is
• 9:31
  have
• 9:31
  to
• 9:31
  get
• 9:31
  a
• 9:31
  hold
• 9:31
  of
• 9:32
  that
• 9:32
  contractor's
• 9:33
  licensing
• 9:34
  department
• 9:35
  and
• 9:35
  notify
• 9:36
  them
• 9:36
  of
• 9:36
  the
• 9:36
  canceled
• 9:37
  insurance.
• 9:38
  So
• 9:38
  that's
• 9:38
  a
• 9:38
  big
• 9:38
  deal.
• 9:39
  So
• 9:39
  you
• 9:39
  want
• 9:39
  to
• 9:39
  make
• 9:39
  sure
• 9:40
  that
• 9:40
  you're
• 9:40
  covered
• 9:40
  there.
• 9:41
  So
• 9:41
  make
• 9:41
  sure
• 9:41
  that
• 9:41
  they
• 9:41
  are
• 9:42
  licensed,
• 9:43
  bonded
• 9:43
  and
• 9:44
  insured.
• 9:45
  Now
• 9:45
  when
• 9:45
  we
• 9:45
  come
• 9:45
  back,
• 9:46
  we've
• 9:46
  got
• 9:47
  some
• 9:47
  big
• 9:47
  ones
• 9:47
  here
• 9:47
  that
• 9:47
  are
• 9:48
  pretty
• 9:48
  sneaky
• 9:49
  and
• 9:49
  they
• 9:49
  could
• 9:49
  really
• 9:50
  save
• 9:50
  you
• 9:50
  some
• 9:50
  money
• 9:51
  on
• 9:51
  that
• 9:51
  next
• 9:51
  project.
• 9:52
  And
• 9:53
  what's
• 9:53
  so
• 9:53
  tempting
• 9:54
  with
• 9:54
  material
• 9:55
  costs
• 9:55
  and
• 9:55
  things
• 9:55
  like
• 9:55
  that
• 9:56
  out
• 9:56
  there
• 9:56
  right
• 9:56
  now
• 9:57
  that
• 9:57
  it
• 9:57
  can
• 9:57
  be
• 9:57
  really
• 9:57
  tempting
• 9:58
  to,
• 9:58
  to
• 9:58
  hire
• 9:59
  that
• 9:59
  person
• 9:59
  that's
• 9:59
  not
• 10:00
  licensed
• 10:00
  bonded.
• 10:00
  But
• 10:00
  oh,
• 10:01
  they're
• 10:01
  good,
• 10:01
  they're
• 10:01
  a
• 10:01
  handyman.
• 10:02
  It's
• 10:02
  that
• 10:02
  kind
• 10:02
  of
• 10:02
  thing,
• 10:03
  you
• 10:03
  gotta
• 10:04
  be
• 10:04
  careful
• 10:04
  because
• 10:04
  in
• 10:05
  some
• 10:05
  areas
• 10:05
  that
• 10:05
  even
• 10:06
  a
• 10:06
  handy
• 10:06
  person
• 10:07
  has
• 10:07
  to
• 10:08
  be
• 10:08
  able
• 10:08
  to
• 10:08
  be
• 10:08
  licensed
• 10:09
  bonded,
• 10:09
  insured,
• 10:10
  but
• 10:10
  you
• 10:10
  still
• 10:11
  want
• 10:11
  them
• 10:11
  to
• 10:11
  have
• 10:11
  all
• 10:11
  those
• 10:11
  insurances
• 10:12
  whether
• 10:12
  they're
• 10:12
  handyman
• 10:13
  or
• 10:13
  not.
• 10:14
  So
• 10:14
  those
• 10:15
  are
• 10:15
  things
• 10:15
  you
• 10:15
  gotta
• 10:15
  be
• 10:15
  careful
• 10:16
  with.
• 10:16
  So
• 10:16
  we
• 10:17
  come
• 10:17
  back,
• 10:17
  I've
• 10:17
  got
• 10:18
  eight
• 10:18
  more
• 10:18
  on
• 10:18
  this
• 10:19
  list
• 10:19
  to
• 10:19
  go
• 10:19
  through
• 10:20
  that
• 10:20
  I
• 10:20
  can
• 10:20
  help
• 10:21
  save
• 10:21
  you
• 10:21
  some
• 10:21

• 10:22
  and

• 10:22

• 10:22

• 10:22

• 10:23

• 13:33
  ways
• 13:33
  a
• 13:34
  bad
• 13:34
  contractor
• 13:34
  can
• 13:35
  scam
• 13:35
  you.
• 13:36
  And
• 13:36
  I'm
• 13:36
  trying
• 13:36
  to
• 13:36
  help
• 13:37
  you
• 13:37
  find
• 13:37
  the
• 13:37
  good
• 13:37
  contractors
• 13:38
  and
• 13:38
  those
• 13:38
  ones
• 13:39
  out
• 13:39
  there
• 13:39
  that
• 13:39
  are
• 13:39
  creeping
• 13:40
  around
• 13:40
  that
• 13:40
  you
• 13:40
  don't
• 13:41
  want
• 13:41
  to
• 13:41
  have.
• 13:42
  Here's
• 13:42
  some
• 13:42
  of
• 13:42
  the
• 13:42
  tricks
• 13:43
  that
• 13:43
  they
• 13:43
  use
• 13:44
  that
• 13:45
  are
• 13:45
  probably
• 13:45
  the
• 13:45
  most
• 13:46
  common
• 13:46
  out
• 13:46
  there.
• 13:47
  Now
• 13:48
  if
• 13:48
  you're
• 13:48
  just
• 13:48
  joining
• 13:48
  us,
• 13:49
  in
• 13:49
  the
• 13:49
  last
• 13:49
  segment
• 13:49
  we
• 13:50
  talked
• 13:50
  about
• 13:50
  change,
• 13:51
  changing
• 13:52
  the
• 13:52
  budget
• 13:53
  after
• 13:54
  the
• 13:54
  contract
• 13:55
  so
• 13:55
  they
• 13:56
  start
• 13:56
  bumping
• 13:56
  up
• 13:57
  the
• 13:57
  scope
• 13:58
  and
• 13:58
  the
• 13:58
  costs.
• 13:59
  Even
• 13:59
  though
• 13:59
  you
• 13:59
  have
• 14:00
  a
• 14:00
  contract
• 14:00
  but
• 14:00
  no
• 14:00
  change
• 14:01
  orders.
• 14:01
  The
• 14:02
  next
• 14:02
  one
• 14:02
  is
• 14:02
  not
• 14:02
  being
• 14:03
  licensed
• 14:03
  bonded
• 14:03
  insured,
• 14:04
  which
• 14:04
  is
• 14:04
  pretty
• 14:04
  common
• 14:05
  out
• 14:05
  there.
• 14:06
  Now
• 14:06
  the
• 14:07
  next
• 14:07
  one
• 14:07
  here
• 14:08
  on
• 14:08
  my
• 14:08
  list
• 14:08
  of
• 14:09
  my
• 14:09
  top
• 14:09
  10
• 14:10
  is
• 14:10
  hiring
• 14:11
  non
• 14:11
  licensed
• 14:12
  subcontractors.
• 14:15
  So
• 14:15
  maybe
• 14:15
  it's
• 14:15
  a
• 14:16
  plumber,
• 14:16
  but
• 14:16
  they're
• 14:17
  not
• 14:17
  licensed.
• 14:17
  Maybe
• 14:18
  it's
• 14:18
  an
• 14:18
  electrician
• 14:19
  that
• 14:19
  they're
• 14:19
  not
• 14:19
  licensed.
• 14:20
  Maybe
• 14:20
  it's
• 14:21
  a
• 14:22
  H
• 14:22
  vac
• 14:23
  Chuck
• 14:23
  in
• 14:23
  the
• 14:23
  truck.
• 14:24
  That
• 14:25
  isn't
• 14:25
  that
• 14:26
  person
• 14:26
  as
• 14:26
  well.
• 14:27
  So
• 14:28
  these
• 14:28
  are
• 14:28
  things
• 14:28
  that
• 14:28
  you
• 14:28
  kind
• 14:28
  of
• 14:29
  have
• 14:29
  to
• 14:29
  make
• 14:29
  sure
• 14:29
  that
• 14:29
  you
• 14:30
  kind
• 14:30
  of
• 14:30
  pay
• 14:31
  attention
• 14:31
  to
• 14:32
  and
• 14:32
  ask,
• 14:33
  you
• 14:33
  know,
• 14:33
  okay,
• 14:33
  are
• 14:34
  you
• 14:34
  going
• 14:34
  to
• 14:34
  have
• 14:35
  all
• 14:35
  the
• 14:35
  people
• 14:35
  coming
• 14:35
  out
• 14:35
  here,
• 14:36
  are
• 14:36
  they
• 14:36
  going
• 14:36
  to
• 14:36
  be
• 14:36
  licensed
• 14:37
  bonded
• 14:37
  insured
• 14:37
  that
• 14:37
  are
• 14:37
  your
• 14:38
  subcontractors,
• 14:39
  you
• 14:39
  know,
• 14:39
  the
• 14:40
  drywall
• 14:40
  guys,
• 14:40
  the
• 14:41
  painters,
• 14:42
  are
• 14:42
  they
• 14:43
  all
• 14:43
  license
• 14:44
  bonded
• 14:45
  and
• 14:45
  insured?
• 14:46
  And
• 14:46
  that
• 14:47
  is
• 14:47
  stuff
• 14:47
  that
• 14:48
  you
• 14:48
  know
• 14:48
  that
• 14:48
  can
• 14:48
  actually
• 14:48
  fall
• 14:49
  back
• 14:49
  on
• 14:49
  the
• 14:49
  contractor,
• 14:50
  not
• 14:51
  you.
• 14:52
  But
• 14:52
  it's
• 14:53
  just
• 14:53
  a
• 14:53
  good
• 14:53
  practice
• 14:54
  to
• 14:54
  make
• 14:54
  sure
• 14:54
  that
• 14:54
  you're
• 14:55
  having,
• 14:55
  you're
• 14:55
  paying
• 14:56
  for
• 14:56
  professionals
• 14:57
  to
• 14:57
  be
• 14:57
  out
• 14:57
  there.
• 14:58
  And
• 14:58
  if
• 14:58
  they're
• 14:59
  not
• 14:59
  licensed
• 14:59
  bonded
• 15:00
  insured,
• 15:00
  they're
• 15:00
  not
• 15:00
  the
• 15:01
  Professionals
• 15:01
  you're
• 15:01
  paying
• 15:02
  for.
• 15:03
  So
• 15:03
  I
• 15:03
  want
• 15:03
  to
• 15:03
  make
• 15:04
  sure
• 15:04
  that
• 15:04
  you've
• 15:04
  got
• 15:04
  the
• 15:05
  right
• 15:05
  people
• 15:05
  out
• 15:06
  there.
• 15:06
  And
• 15:07
  so
• 15:07
  it's
• 15:07
  really
• 15:07
  easy
• 15:08
  to
• 15:08
  find
• 15:08
  out,
• 15:08
  okay,
• 15:08
  who
• 15:09
  are
• 15:09
  the
• 15:09
  subcontractors
• 15:10
  when
• 15:10
  you're
• 15:10
  going
• 15:10
  to
• 15:11
  contract,
• 15:11
  who
• 15:11
  are
• 15:11
  they
• 15:12
  and
• 15:12
  who's
• 15:13
  coming
• 15:13
  to
• 15:13
  do
• 15:13
  the
• 15:13
  drywall?
• 15:14
  You
• 15:14
  know,
• 15:15
  ask
• 15:15
  the
• 15:15
  contractor,
• 15:15
  when
• 15:16
  you
• 15:16
  go
• 15:16
  into
• 15:16
  the
• 15:16
  bidding
• 15:16
  process,
• 15:17
  who
• 15:17
  do
• 15:18
  you
• 15:18
  subcontract
• 15:18
  through?
• 15:19
  Now,
• 15:20
  sometimes
• 15:20
  they
• 15:20
  will
• 15:21
  use
• 15:21
  one
• 15:21
  or
• 15:21
  two
• 15:21
  different
• 15:22
  electricians,
• 15:23
  one
• 15:23
  or
• 15:23
  two
• 15:23
  plumbers.
• 15:24
  They'll
• 15:24
  have
• 15:24
  the
• 15:24
  main
• 15:24
  one,
• 15:25
  the
• 15:25
  backup,
• 15:25
  because,
• 15:25
  you
• 15:26
  know,
• 15:26
  everyone
• 15:27
  has
• 15:27
  schedules
• 15:28
  to
• 15:28
  manage.
• 15:29
  You
• 15:29
  just
• 15:29
  want
• 15:29
  to
• 15:29
  make
• 15:29
  sure
• 15:29
  that
• 15:30
  everybody's
• 15:30
  licensed,
• 15:30
  bonded
• 15:31
  and
• 15:31
  insured,
• 15:32
  especially
• 15:32
  the
• 15:32
  contractor,
• 15:33
  like
• 15:33
  we
• 15:33
  talked
• 15:33
  about
• 15:34
  earlier.
• 15:35
  Now,
• 15:36
  the
• 15:36
  next
• 15:36
  one
• 15:37
  here
• 15:37
  can
• 15:38
  be
• 15:38
  gray
• 15:38
  area
• 15:39
  a
• 15:39
  little
• 15:39
  bit,
• 15:39
  but
• 15:39
  I
• 15:40
  want
• 15:40
  to
• 15:40
  make
• 15:40
  sure
• 15:40
  that
• 15:40
  we
• 15:41
  talk
• 15:41
  about
• 15:41
  it.
• 15:42
  And
• 15:42
  this
• 15:42
  one
• 15:42
  is
• 15:42
  not
• 15:43
  pulling
• 15:43
  permits
• 15:44
  when
• 15:45
  they
• 15:45
  say
• 15:45
  they're
• 15:45
  going
• 15:46
  to.
• 15:47
  Now,
• 15:48
  in
• 15:48
  some
• 15:48
  areas,
• 15:49
  they
• 15:49
  really
• 15:50
  want
• 15:50
  the
• 15:50
  homeowner
• 15:51
  to
• 15:51
  pull
• 15:51
  the
• 15:51
  permits.
• 15:53
  In
• 15:53
  some
• 15:54
  areas,
• 15:54
  the
• 15:55
  contractor
• 15:55
  pulls
• 15:55
  the
• 15:56
  permits.
• 15:57
  But
• 15:57
  a
• 15:57
  bad
• 15:58
  contractor
• 15:59
  that
• 15:59
  should
• 15:59
  be
• 16:00
  pulling
• 16:00
  the
• 16:00
  permits
• 16:01
  will
• 16:01
  try
• 16:02
  to
• 16:02
  talk
• 16:02
  you
• 16:03
  into
• 16:03
  going
• 16:03
  down
• 16:04
  there
• 16:04
  as
• 16:04
  the
• 16:04
  homeowner
• 16:04
  to
• 16:04
  pull
• 16:05
  the
• 16:05
  permits.
• 16:06
  Many
• 16:06
  times
• 16:07
  that's
• 16:07
  because
• 16:07
  they've
• 16:07
  been
• 16:08
  booted
• 16:08
  out
• 16:08
  of
• 16:08
  the
• 16:08
  permit
• 16:08
  office
• 16:09
  before.
• 16:10
  The
• 16:10
  permit
• 16:10
  office
• 16:11
  will
• 16:11
  see
• 16:11
  if
• 16:11
  they're
• 16:11
  licensed,
• 16:12
  bonded,
• 16:12
  insured,
• 16:13
  or
• 16:13
  they've
• 16:14
  had
• 16:14
  many
• 16:14
  run
• 16:14
  ins
• 16:15
  with
• 16:15
  them
• 16:15
  and
• 16:15
  they
• 16:15
  don't
• 16:16
  want
• 16:16
  to
• 16:16
  be
• 16:16
  seen
• 16:16
  down
• 16:17
  there
• 16:17
  because
• 16:18
  it
• 16:19
  could
• 16:19
  cause
• 16:19
  headaches.
• 16:20
  So
• 16:21
  these
• 16:21
  are
• 16:21
  all
• 16:21
  things
• 16:21
  you
• 16:22
  need
• 16:22
  to
• 16:22
  be
• 16:22
  careful
• 16:22
  for.
• 16:23
  So
• 16:24
  if
• 16:24
  in
• 16:24
  your
• 16:24
  area
• 16:25
  that
• 16:25
  you,
• 16:25
  the
• 16:26
  homeowner
• 16:26
  has
• 16:26
  to
• 16:26
  pull
• 16:26
  the
• 16:26
  permits,
• 16:28
  that's
• 16:28
  kind
• 16:28
  of
• 16:28
  common,
• 16:29
  but
• 16:29
  that's
• 16:29
  something
• 16:29
  you
• 16:29
  want
• 16:29
  to
• 16:30
  talk
• 16:30
  to
• 16:30
  the
• 16:30
  permit
• 16:30
  office
• 16:31
  about
• 16:31
  when
• 16:32
  you're
• 16:32
  doing
• 16:32
  it.
• 16:33
  Now,
• 16:33
  it
• 16:34
  is
• 16:34
  the
• 16:34
  wild
• 16:34
  West.
• 16:35
  In
• 16:35
  some
• 16:35
  states,
• 16:36
  like
• 16:36
  here
• 16:37
  in
• 16:37
  my
• 16:38
  area,
• 16:38
  you
• 16:39
  need
• 16:39
  to
• 16:39
  pull
• 16:39
  permits
• 16:40
  for
• 16:40
  a
• 16:40
  lot
• 16:40
  of
• 16:40
  stuff,
• 16:41
  but
• 16:42
  not
• 16:42
  roofing.
• 16:43
  So
• 16:44
  there's
• 16:44
  a
• 16:44
  lot
• 16:44
  of
• 16:44
  things
• 16:45
  like
• 16:45
  that
• 16:46
  that
• 16:46
  you
• 16:47
  have
• 16:47
  to
• 16:47
  know
• 16:47
  your
• 16:48
  individual
• 16:49
  area
• 16:49
  and
• 16:49
  the
• 16:50
  rules.
• 16:50
  But
• 16:51
  Generally
• 16:52
  speaking,
• 16:53
  in
• 16:53
  90%
• 16:54
  of
• 16:54
  the
• 16:55
  United
• 16:55
  States,
• 16:56
  if
• 16:56
  you're
• 16:56
  doing
• 16:57
  it,
• 16:58
  if
• 16:58
  you're
• 16:58
  doing
• 16:58
  a
• 16:59
  remodel
• 17:00
  where
• 17:00
  you're
• 17:01
  moving
• 17:01
  walls
• 17:02
  or
• 17:02
  you're
• 17:02
  doing
• 17:02
  an
• 17:02
  addition
• 17:04
  or
• 17:04
  you're,
• 17:04
  you
• 17:05
  know,
• 17:05
  getting
• 17:05
  into
• 17:05
  electrical,
• 17:06
  plumbing,
• 17:07
  insulation,
• 17:08
  in
• 17:09
  most
• 17:09
  areas,
• 17:11
  and
• 17:11
  I
• 17:11
  say
• 17:11
  most,
• 17:12
  they
• 17:12
  want
• 17:12
  you
• 17:13
  to
• 17:13
  pull
• 17:13
  permits
• 17:13
  for
• 17:13
  that.
• 17:14
  So
• 17:15
  before
• 17:15
  you
• 17:15
  start
• 17:15
  the
• 17:16
  project,
• 17:16
  talk
• 17:16
  to
• 17:16
  your
• 17:17
  permit
• 17:17
  office,
• 17:17
  find
• 17:18
  out
• 17:18
  what
• 17:18
  they
• 17:18
  require.
• 17:19
  A
• 17:19
  lot
• 17:19
  of
• 17:19
  times
• 17:19
  you
• 17:20
  just
• 17:20
  go
• 17:20
  on
• 17:20
  their
• 17:20
  website
• 17:20
  it
• 17:21
  and
• 17:21
  see
• 17:21
  what
• 17:21
  they've
• 17:21
  got
• 17:22
  down
• 17:22
  there,
• 17:22
  what
• 17:22
  they
• 17:22
  require,
• 17:23
  you
• 17:24
  know,
• 17:24
  and
• 17:24
  in
• 17:24
  my
• 17:25
  area,
• 17:25
  it's
• 17:25
  pretty
• 17:25
  easy
• 17:26
  because
• 17:26
  it's,
• 17:26
  there's,
• 17:27
  you
• 17:27
  know,
• 17:27
  state
• 17:27
  laws
• 17:28
  are
• 17:28
  pretty
• 17:28
  much
• 17:29
  the
• 17:30
  building
• 17:30
  codes.
• 17:30
  And
• 17:31
  so
• 17:31
  it's
• 17:32
  pretty
• 17:32
  common
• 17:32
  across
• 17:33
  the
• 17:33
  state
• 17:34
  to
• 17:35
  you
• 17:35
  know
• 17:35
  what
• 17:35
  the
• 17:35
  rules
• 17:36
  are
• 17:36
  and
• 17:36
  what
• 17:36
  you
• 17:36
  have
• 17:36
  to
• 17:36
  do
• 17:37
  to
• 17:37
  follow
• 17:37
  those.
• 17:37
  So
• 17:37
  that's
• 17:37
  a
• 17:38
  good
• 17:38
  one
• 17:38
  right
• 17:38
  there.
• 17:39
  So
• 17:39
  just
• 17:39
  understand
• 17:40
  what
• 17:40
  your
• 17:41
  is
• 17:41
  going
• 17:41
  on
• 17:41
  in
• 17:41
  your
• 17:41
  area.
• 17:42
  And
• 17:43
  some
• 17:43
  states
• 17:43
  it's
• 17:44
  tough
• 17:44
  because
• 17:44
  you
• 17:44
  know,
• 17:44
  you've
• 17:45
  got
• 17:45
  a
• 17:45
  city
• 17:46
  or
• 17:46
  a
• 17:46
  county,
• 17:47
  township,
• 17:47
  whatever,
• 17:48
  and
• 17:48
  the
• 17:48
  rules
• 17:49
  are
• 17:49
  way
• 17:49
  different
• 17:49
  in
• 17:50
  between
• 17:50
  them.
• 17:50
  And
• 17:50
  that
• 17:50
  can
• 17:51
  be
• 17:51
  pretty
• 17:51
  troublesome
• 17:52
  for,
• 17:52
  for
• 17:53
  contractors
• 17:53
  in
• 17:54
  that
• 17:54
  area.
• 17:54
  So
• 17:54
  just
• 17:55
  understand
• 17:55
  your
• 17:55
  local
• 17:56
  stuff
• 17:56
  of
• 17:56
  what's
• 17:56
  going
• 17:57
  on.
• 17:58
  Now
• 17:58
  the
• 17:58
  other
• 17:58
  thing
• 17:59
  that's
• 17:59
  not
• 17:59
  pulling
• 18:00
  permits
• 18:01
  is
• 18:01
  not
• 18:01
  getting
• 18:02
  that
• 18:02
  final
• 18:02
  inspection.
• 18:03
  And
• 18:04
  that
• 18:04
  can
• 18:04
  really
• 18:05
  burn
• 18:05
  you
• 18:06
  in
• 18:07
  the
• 18:07
  long
• 18:07
  run
• 18:08
  when
• 18:08
  you're
• 18:08
  in
• 18:08
  these
• 18:08
  permit
• 18:09
  areas
• 18:09
  because
• 18:10
  you're
• 18:10
  paying
• 18:10
  for
• 18:10
  it
• 18:10
  to
• 18:10
  get
• 18:11
  through.
• 18:11
  And
• 18:11
  maybe,
• 18:12
  you
• 18:12
  know,
• 18:13
  so
• 18:13
  your
• 18:13
  job
• 18:13
  is
• 18:14
  before
• 18:14
  you
• 18:14
  write
• 18:14
  that
• 18:15
  last
• 18:15
  check,
• 18:16
  is
• 18:16
  to
• 18:16
  call
• 18:16
  the
• 18:17
  permit
• 18:17
  department
• 18:17
  and
• 18:18
  make
• 18:18
  sure
• 18:18
  that
• 18:18
  they
• 18:18
  have
• 18:19
  everything
• 18:19
  signed
• 18:20
  off
• 18:21
  before
• 18:21
  you
• 18:22
  close
• 18:22
  out
• 18:22
  the
• 18:23
  bill.
• 18:25
  Because
• 18:25
  I've
• 18:25
  gone
• 18:25
  out
• 18:26
  to
• 18:26
  homeowners,
• 18:26
  houses
• 18:27
  that
• 18:27
  had
• 18:27
  name
• 18:28
  brand
• 18:29
  high
• 18:29
  end
• 18:29
  contractors
• 18:30
  do
• 18:30
  the
• 18:30
  work.
• 18:31
  Did
• 18:32
  a
• 18:32
  great
• 18:32
  job,
• 18:33
  they're
• 18:33
  awesome,
• 18:34
  love
• 18:34
  it,
• 18:35
  perfect.
• 18:36
  These
• 18:36
  guys
• 18:37
  are
• 18:37
  rock
• 18:38
  stars.
• 18:38
  Except
• 18:39
  somebody
• 18:40
  missed
• 18:40
  final
• 18:41
  inspection
• 18:41
  day
• 18:42
  and
• 18:42
  didn't
• 18:42
  get
• 18:42
  it
• 18:43
  signed
• 18:43
  off.
• 18:44
  The
• 18:44
  problem
• 18:44
  is
• 18:45
  though
• 18:45
  is
• 18:46
  if
• 18:46
  you
• 18:46
  go
• 18:46
  back
• 18:46
  into
• 18:47
  this
• 18:47
  was
• 18:47
  on
• 18:47
  a
• 18:47
  kitchen
• 18:48
  edition
• 18:49
  and
• 18:49
  20
• 18:50
  years
• 18:50
  later
• 18:50
  they
• 18:50
  wanted
• 18:50
  to
• 18:50
  do
• 18:50
  a
• 18:51
  kitchen
• 18:51
  remodel.
• 18:52
  The
• 18:52
  problem
• 18:53
  is,
• 18:54
  is
• 18:54
  since
• 18:54
  that
• 18:54
  was
• 18:55
  not
• 18:55
  signed
• 18:55
  off
• 18:56
  to
• 18:57
  finish
• 18:57
  it
• 18:57
  in
• 18:57
  our
• 18:57
  area,
• 18:58
  you
• 18:59
  now
• 18:59
  had
• 18:59
  to
• 18:59
  bring
• 19:00
  that
• 19:00
  up
• 19:00
  into
• 19:01
  what
• 19:01
  was
• 19:01
  at
• 19:01
  the
• 19:02
  time
• 19:02
  2021
• 19:03
  building
• 19:03
  code
• 19:03
  maybe.
• 19:05
  So
• 19:05
  now
• 19:05
  the
• 19:05
  insulation
• 19:06
  didn't
• 19:06
  meet.
• 19:07
  There's
• 19:07
  a
• 19:07
  lot
• 19:08
  of
• 19:08
  things
• 19:08
  that
• 19:08
  had
• 19:08
  to
• 19:08
  be
• 19:08
  upgraded.
• 19:09
  And
• 19:10
  so
• 19:10
  unfortunately
• 19:11
  that
• 19:11
  whole
• 19:11
  addition
• 19:12
  had
• 19:12
  to
• 19:12
  have
• 19:13
  basically
• 19:14
  the
• 19:14
  drywall
• 19:14
  taken
• 19:15
  down.
• 19:16
  And
• 19:16
  maybe
• 19:17
  you
• 19:17
  can
• 19:17
  talk
• 19:17
  to
• 19:17
  a
• 19:17
  building
• 19:18
  inspector
• 19:18
  to
• 19:18
  see
• 19:18
  if
• 19:19
  they
• 19:19
  can,
• 19:19
  you
• 19:20
  know,
• 19:20
  sign
• 19:20
  off
• 19:20
  on
• 19:21
  the
• 19:21
  rules.
• 19:21
  But
• 19:21
  I
• 19:22
  tell
• 19:22
  you
• 19:22
  what,
• 19:22
  in
• 19:22
  many
• 19:22
  areas
• 19:23
  you're
• 19:24
  going
• 19:24
  to
• 19:24
  have
• 19:24
  to
• 19:24
  meet
• 19:24
  the
• 19:24
  2024,
• 19:25
  2025
• 19:26
  building
• 19:27
  code.
• 19:28
  So
• 19:28
  that
• 19:29
  can
• 19:29
  be
• 19:29
  a
• 19:29
  serious
• 19:30
  issue
• 19:30
  and
• 19:31
  that
• 19:31
  can
• 19:31
  add
• 19:32
  so
• 19:32
  much
• 19:33
  to
• 19:33
  the
• 19:33
  project.
• 19:35
  You
• 19:35
  know,
• 19:35
  I,
• 19:35
  I've
• 19:36
  gone
• 19:36
  out
• 19:36
  and
• 19:37
  done
• 19:37
  remodels
• 19:37
  on
• 19:38
  houses
• 19:38
  that,
• 19:39
  you
• 19:39
  know,
• 19:39
  where
• 19:40
  they
• 19:40
  converted
• 19:40
  the
• 19:40
  attic
• 19:40
  space
• 19:41
  into
• 19:41
  living
• 19:41
  space.
• 19:42
  You
• 19:42
  know,
• 19:42
  when
• 19:43
  they
• 19:43
  bought
• 19:43
  the
• 19:43
  house
• 19:43
  there
• 19:43
  was
• 19:44
  a
• 19:44
  set
• 19:44
  of
• 19:44
  plans
• 19:44
  that
• 19:44
  came
• 19:45
  with
• 19:45
  it
• 19:45
  showed
• 19:46
  stamped
• 19:46
  building
• 19:47
  permit
• 19:47
  plans
• 19:47
  for
• 19:47
  that,
• 19:48
  for
• 19:48
  that
• 19:48
  remodel
• 19:49
  that
• 19:49
  was
• 19:49
  done
• 19:49
  40
• 19:49
  years
• 19:50
  ago.
• 19:50
  Come
• 19:51
  to
• 19:51
  find
• 19:51
  out
• 19:51
  they
• 19:52
  never
• 19:52
  did
• 19:53
  that
• 19:53
  correctly.
• 19:54
  And
• 19:54
  then
• 19:54
  they
• 19:54
  had
• 19:54
  to
• 19:55
  go
• 19:55
  spend
• 19:55
  an
• 19:55
  extra
• 19:55
  hundred
• 19:56
  grand
• 19:56
  on
• 19:56
  getting
• 19:56
  that
• 19:57
  up
• 19:57
  to
• 19:57
  speed.
• 19:58
  And
• 19:58
  so
• 19:59
  be
• 19:59
  really
• 19:59
  careful
• 20:00
  to
• 20:00
  make
• 20:00
  sure
• 20:00
  that
• 20:01
  that
• 20:01
  stuff
• 20:02
  is
• 20:02
  done
• 20:02
  correctly
• 20:03
  because
• 20:03
  it
• 20:03
  can
• 20:03
  cost
• 20:03
  you
• 20:04
  so
• 20:04
  much
• 20:04
  down
• 20:04
  the
• 20:05
  road
• 20:06
  and
• 20:06
  that
• 20:06
  gets
• 20:06
  expensive.
• 20:07
  And
• 20:08
  that
• 20:08
  can
• 20:08
  be
• 20:09
  a
• 20:09
  simple
• 20:09
  mistake,
• 20:09
  not
• 20:10
  a
• 20:10
  scam.
• 20:10
  But
• 20:11
  just
• 20:11
  make
• 20:11
  sure
• 20:11
  that
• 20:11
  that
• 20:12
  stuff
• 20:12
  gets
• 20:12
  covered
• 20:13
  because
• 20:13
  that
• 20:13
  can
• 20:14
  cost
• 20:14
  you
• 20:14
  big
• 20:15
  money
• 20:16
  when
• 20:16
  you
• 20:16
  go
• 20:17
  down
• 20:17
  the
• 20:17
  road.
• 20:18
  Now,
• 20:19
  the
• 20:19
  other
• 20:19
  one
• 20:19
  here,
• 20:19
  and
• 20:20
  I'm
• 20:20
  going
• 20:20
  to
• 20:20
  talk
• 20:20
  about
• 20:20
  this
• 20:20
  before
• 20:21
  we
• 20:21
  go
• 20:21
  out
• 20:21
  to
• 20:21
  break,
• 20:22
  but
• 20:22
  it's
• 20:22
  a
• 20:22
  big
• 20:23
  one,
• 20:24
  taking
• 20:25
  too
• 20:25
  much
• 20:25
  money
• 20:26
  of
• 20:26
  a
• 20:26
  down
• 20:27
  payment.
• 20:28
  Now,
• 20:28
  down
• 20:28
  payments
• 20:29
  to
• 20:29
  me
• 20:29
  are
• 20:30
  two
• 20:30
  things.
• 20:30
  One,
• 20:30
  they
• 20:31
  lock
• 20:31
  you
• 20:31
  in
• 20:31
  to
• 20:32
  the
• 20:32
  process
• 20:33
  and
• 20:33
  two,
• 20:34
  they're
• 20:35
  paying
• 20:35
  for
• 20:36
  the
• 20:36
  materials
• 20:36
  that
• 20:36
  are
• 20:37
  custom
• 20:37
  that
• 20:37
  you
• 20:37
  have
• 20:38
  to
• 20:38
  order.
• 20:40
  And
• 20:40
  that's
• 20:41
  where
• 20:41
  we
• 20:42
  get
• 20:42
  into
• 20:42
  a
• 20:42
  rub.
• 20:43
  Some
• 20:44
  areas,
• 20:45
  the
• 20:45
  state
• 20:45
  laws
• 20:46
  only
• 20:46
  will
• 20:46
  let
• 20:46
  them
• 20:47
  do
• 20:47
  10%
• 20:48
  down
• 20:49
  as
• 20:49
  a
• 20:49
  down
• 20:49
  payment.
• 20:51
  Now,
• 20:51
  when
• 20:51
  I
• 20:51
  was
• 20:51
  a
• 20:52
  kitchen
• 20:52
  designer
• 20:52
  and
• 20:53
  I
• 20:53
  had
• 20:53
  my
• 20:53
  own
• 20:53
  business
• 20:54
  because
• 20:54
  I
• 20:55
  had
• 20:55
  to
• 20:55
  order
• 20:55
  cabinets,
• 20:56
  I
• 20:57
  needed
• 20:57
  to
• 20:57
  have
• 20:57
  that
• 20:57
  50
• 20:58
  down
• 20:59
  just
• 20:59
  to
• 20:59
  place
• 21:00
  the
• 21:00
  first
• 21:00
  part
• 21:00
  of
• 21:01
  the
• 21:01
  order
• 21:01
  because
• 21:01
  I
• 21:01
  had
• 21:01
  to
• 21:01
  have
• 21:02
  that
• 21:02
  to
• 21:02
  pay
• 21:02
  for
• 21:02
  the
• 21:03
  cabinetry.
• 21:04
  You
• 21:04
  know,
• 21:04
  I'm
• 21:04
  gonna
• 21:05
  hit
• 21:05
  the
• 21:05
  pause
• 21:05
  button
• 21:05
  on
• 21:05
  this
• 21:06
  right
• 21:06
  now
• 21:06
  because
• 21:07
  we're
• 21:07
  running
• 21:07
  out
• 21:07
  of
• 21:07
  time.
• 21:08
  We
• 21:08
  need
• 21:08
  to
• 21:08
  go
• 21:08
  to
• 21:08
  break.
• 21:08
  When
• 21:09
  we
• 21:09
  come
• 21:09
  back,
• 21:09
  we're
• 21:09
  gonna
• 21:09
  continue
• 21:10
  this
• 21:10
  conversation
• 21:11
  about
• 21:11
  this
• 21:12
  because
• 21:12
  it's
• 21:12
  an
• 21:12
  important
• 21:12
  one
• 21:13
  around
• 21:13
  the
• 21:13
  house.
• 21:13
  Be
• 21:13
  right
• 21:14
  back.
• 21:14
  Don't
• 21:14
  change
• 21:14
  that
• 21:15
  dial.
• 22:56
  Foreign
• 23:01
  hey,
• 23:01
  this
• 23:01
  is
• 23:01
  Ron
• 23:02
  Keel,
• 23:02
  the
• 23:02
  metal
• 23:03
  cowboy
• 23:03
  from
• 23:04
  Keel,
• 23:04
  the
• 23:04
  Ron
• 23:05
  Keel
• 23:05
  Band
• 23:06
  and
• 23:06
  Steeler.
• 23:07
  We
• 23:07
  are
• 23:07
  rocking
• 23:08
  around
• 23:08
  the
• 23:09
  house
• 23:09
  with
• 23:09
  Eric
• 23:10
  G.
• 23:10
  Raise
• 23:11
  your
• 23:11
  fears.
• 23:12
  Welcome
• 23:12
  back
• 23:12
  to
• 23:12
  the
• 23:12
  around
• 23:13
  the
• 23:13
  house
• 23:13
  show,
• 23:13
  the
• 23:13
  next
• 23:14
  generation
• 23:14
  of
• 23:14
  home
• 23:14
  improvement.
• 23:15
  I'm
• 23:15
  Eric
• 23:15
  G.
• 23:16
  Thanks
• 23:16
  for
• 23:16
  joining
• 23:16
  me.
• 23:17
  If
• 23:17
  you're
• 23:17
  just
• 23:17
  joining
• 23:17
  us
• 23:18
  on
• 23:18
  the
• 23:18
  radio,
• 23:19
  thanks
• 23:19
  for
• 23:19
  tuning
• 23:19
  in.
• 23:20
  This
• 23:20
  is
• 23:20
  where
• 23:20
  we
• 23:20
  talk
• 23:20
  about
• 23:21
  Home
• 23:21
  Improvement
• 23:21
  every
• 23:21
  single
• 23:22
  week
• 23:22
  for
• 23:23
  two
• 23:23
  hours
• 23:23
  on
• 23:23
  the
• 23:23
  radio.
• 23:24
  And
• 23:24
  of
• 23:24
  course,
• 23:25
  we've
• 23:25
  got
• 23:25
  a
• 23:26
  podcast
• 23:26
  that
• 23:26
  goes
• 23:26
  out
• 23:26
  in
• 23:27
  the
• 23:27
  middle
• 23:27
  of
• 23:27
  the
• 23:27
  week
• 23:27
  called
• 23:27
  our
• 23:27
  midweek
• 23:28
  update
• 23:29
  as
• 23:29
  well.
• 23:29
  Make
• 23:29
  sure
• 23:29
  you
• 23:30
  follow
• 23:30
  that.
• 23:30
  And
• 23:31
  when
• 23:31
  you're
• 23:31
  tuning
• 23:32
  in,
• 23:32
  whether
• 23:32
  you're
• 23:32
  on
• 23:33
  Spotify
• 23:33
  or
• 23:33
  Apple
• 23:33
  or
• 23:33
  whatever
• 23:34
  you're
• 23:34
  listening
• 23:34
  to,
• 23:34
  make
• 23:35
  sure
• 23:35
  that
• 23:35
  you
• 23:35
  subscribe
• 23:36
  and
• 23:36
  hit
• 23:36
  the
• 23:36
  little
• 23:37
  bell
• 23:37
  so
• 23:37
  you
• 23:37
  get
• 23:37
  notified.
• 23:38
  Sometimes
• 23:38
  I
• 23:39
  will
• 23:39
  drop
• 23:39
  in
• 23:40
  special
• 23:40
  episodes
• 23:41
  when
• 23:41
  something
• 23:41
  comes
• 23:41
  up
• 23:42
  that's
• 23:42
  big
• 23:42
  and
• 23:43
  I
• 23:43
  will
• 23:43
  put
• 23:43
  that
• 23:43
  on
• 23:44
  the
• 23:44
  podcast
• 23:44
  player.
• 23:45
  We've
• 23:45
  been
• 23:46
  talking
• 23:46
  about
• 23:46
  my
• 23:46
  top
• 23:46
  10
• 23:47
  ways
• 23:47
  a
• 23:48
  bad
• 23:48
  contractor
• 23:49
  can
• 23:49
  scam
• 23:49
  you.
• 23:49
  And
• 23:50
  I
• 23:50
  had
• 23:50
  to
• 23:51
  stop
• 23:51
  because
• 23:51
  we're
• 23:51
  going
• 23:51
  out
• 23:51
  to
• 23:52
  break
• 23:52
  here
• 23:52
  for
• 23:52
  the
• 23:52
  radio.
• 23:53
  But
• 23:53
  I
• 23:53
  wanted
• 23:53
  to
• 23:53
  make
• 23:53
  sure
• 23:54
  that
• 23:54
  we
• 23:54
  cover
• 23:55
  this
• 23:55
  really
• 23:55
  well
• 23:55
  and
• 23:56
  you
• 23:56
  understand
• 23:56
  it.
• 23:57
  One
• 23:57
  of
• 23:57
  the
• 23:57
  biggest
• 23:58
  problems
• 23:58
  when
• 23:59
  we're
• 23:59
  talking
• 23:59
  about
• 23:59
  paying
• 24:00
  with
• 24:00
  a
• 24:00
  credit
• 24:01
  card
• 24:01
  or
• 24:01
  a
• 24:01
  debit
• 24:02
  card
• 24:02
  with
• 24:02
  a
• 24:02
  contractor
• 24:03
  is
• 24:03
  not
• 24:03
  so
• 24:03
  much
• 24:04
  you
• 24:04
  paying
• 24:04
  them
• 24:05
  in
• 24:05
  the
• 24:05
  fees
• 24:06
  associated,
• 24:06
  but
• 24:06
  I
• 24:07
  have
• 24:07
  seen
• 24:08
  contractors
• 24:09
  get
• 24:09
  burned
• 24:10
  by
• 24:10
  upset
• 24:11
  Homeowners.
• 24:12
  So
• 24:12
  the
• 24:12
  one
• 24:13
  I
• 24:13
  saw
• 24:13
  was
• 24:13
  a
• 24:14
  contractor
• 24:15
  that
• 24:15
  took
• 24:15
  the
• 24:15
  down
• 24:16
  payment
• 24:16
  and
• 24:16
  the
• 24:16
  cabinet
• 24:17
  payment
• 24:17
  on
• 24:18
  Visa,
• 24:18
  MasterCard
• 24:19
  or
• 24:19
  whatever.
• 24:20
  And
• 24:20
  I
• 24:20
  think
• 24:20
  what
• 24:20
  it
• 24:20
  was
• 24:21
  is
• 24:21
  the
• 24:21
  homeowner
• 24:22
  wanted
• 24:22
  to
• 24:22
  get
• 24:23
  their
• 24:23
  miles
• 24:23
  so
• 24:24
  they
• 24:24
  could
• 24:24
  could
• 24:24
  pay
• 24:25
  for
• 24:25
  a
• 24:25
  trip,
• 24:26
  so
• 24:27
  they
• 24:27
  wanted
• 24:27
  to
• 24:27
  get
• 24:27
  their
• 24:28
  airline
• 24:28
  miles.
• 24:28
  Okay,
• 24:29
  I
• 24:29
  understand
• 24:29
  that.
• 24:30
  But
• 24:30
  the
• 24:31
  problem
• 24:31
  was
• 24:31
  is
• 24:31
  the
• 24:32
  remodel
• 24:32
  went
• 24:32
  along,
• 24:33
  they
• 24:33
  paid
• 24:33
  the
• 24:33
  deposit,
• 24:34
  and
• 24:34
  their
• 24:34
  cabin
• 24:34
  deposit
• 24:35
  down
• 24:35
  on
• 24:35
  that
• 24:35
  cabinet
• 24:36
  showed
• 24:36
  up
• 24:36
  and
• 24:36
  the
• 24:37
  homeowner
• 24:37
  wasn't
• 24:37
  totally
• 24:38
  happy
• 24:38
  with
• 24:39
  the
• 24:39
  finish.
• 24:39
  And
• 24:39
  I
• 24:39
  think
• 24:40
  the
• 24:40
  contractor
• 24:40
  was
• 24:40
  ordering
• 24:41
  doors
• 24:41
  or
• 24:41
  something
• 24:42
  like
• 24:42
  that.
• 24:42
  They
• 24:43
  disputed
• 24:43
  the
• 24:43
  charges
• 24:44
  because
• 24:44
  it
• 24:44
  was
• 24:44
  going
• 24:45
  to
• 24:45
  take
• 24:45
  a
• 24:45
  month
• 24:45
  or
• 24:46
  so,
• 24:46
  which
• 24:46
  happens
• 24:46
  with
• 24:46
  cabinetry
• 24:47
  sometimes.
• 24:48
  They
• 24:48
  got
• 24:48
  mad
• 24:49
  and
• 24:49
  pulled
• 24:50
  get
• 24:50
  20,
• 24:50
  25
• 24:51
  grand
• 24:51
  out
• 24:51
  of
• 24:51
  their
• 24:51
  account.
• 24:52
  So
• 24:52
  now
• 24:52
  that
• 24:53
  contractor
• 24:53
  who's
• 24:54
  working
• 24:54
  on
• 24:54
  other
• 24:54
  people's
• 24:55
  projects,
• 24:56
  he's
• 24:56
  already
• 24:56
  spent
• 24:57
  that
• 24:57
  money.
• 24:57
  That's
• 24:58
  gone
• 24:59
  now
• 24:59
  that
• 24:59
  comes
• 24:59
  out
• 24:59
  of
• 25:00
  somebody
• 25:00
  else's
• 25:00
  fund.
• 25:01
  So
• 25:01
  be
• 25:01
  a
• 25:02
  little
• 25:02
  careful,
• 25:03
  have
• 25:03
  some
• 25:03
  conversations.
• 25:04
  I
• 25:04
  want
• 25:04
  to
• 25:04
  make
• 25:04
  sure
• 25:04
  they're
• 25:05
  in
• 25:05
  a
• 25:05
  great
• 25:05
  financial
• 25:05
  spot,
• 25:06
  that
• 25:06
  if
• 25:06
  somebody
• 25:06
  pulls
• 25:07
  15,
• 25:08
  20
• 25:08
  grand
• 25:08
  out
• 25:08
  of
• 25:09
  their
• 25:09
  account,
• 25:09
  that
• 25:10
  your
• 25:10
  project
• 25:11
  gets
• 25:11
  done
• 25:12
  for
• 25:12
  little
• 25:12
  single
• 25:13
  chuck
• 25:13
  on
• 25:13
  a
• 25:13
  truck
• 25:13
  contractors
• 25:14
  that
• 25:14
  can
• 25:14
  be
• 25:14
  debilitating
• 25:15
  for
• 25:15
  them
• 25:16
  because
• 25:16
  they
• 25:17
  just
• 25:17
  don't
• 25:17
  have
• 25:17
  that
• 25:17
  much
• 25:18
  built
• 25:18
  up.
• 25:19
  Now
• 25:19
  if
• 25:19
  you're
• 25:19
  a
• 25:19
  big
• 25:19
  corporation,
• 25:20
  you
• 25:20
  got
• 25:21
  20
• 25:21
  crews
• 25:21
  out
• 25:21
  there
• 25:21
  working
• 25:22
  way
• 25:23
  different
• 25:23
  story,
• 25:24
  way
• 25:24
  different
• 25:24
  story.
• 25:25
  So
• 25:25
  just
• 25:25
  think
• 25:25
  about
• 25:25
  that
• 25:26
  and
• 25:26
  just
• 25:27
  make
• 25:27
  sure
• 25:27
  that
• 25:27
  you
• 25:27
  understand
• 25:28
  the
• 25:28
  size
• 25:28
  and
• 25:28
  the
• 25:29
  risk
• 25:29
  with
• 25:29
  something
• 25:29
  like
• 25:30
  that.
• 25:30
  I've
• 25:30
  seen
• 25:30
  that
• 25:30
  get
• 25:30
  burned
• 25:31
  a
• 25:31
  couple
• 25:31
  times,
• 25:32
  and
• 25:32
  it
• 25:32
  was
• 25:32
  really
• 25:32
  painful.
• 25:33
  They
• 25:33
  made
• 25:33
  it
• 25:33
  through
• 25:34
  it,
• 25:34
  but
• 25:34
  it
• 25:34
  was
• 25:34
  painful
• 25:35
  because
• 25:36
  they
• 25:36
  had
• 25:36
  to
• 25:36
  get
• 25:37
  that
• 25:37
  resolved
• 25:38
  to
• 25:38
  keep
• 25:38
  the
• 25:38
  show
• 25:39
  the
• 25:39
  project
• 25:39
  going.
• 25:40
  And
• 25:40
  that
• 25:41
  really
• 25:41
  showed
• 25:41
  the
• 25:41
  hard
• 25:42
  work
• 25:42
  of
• 25:42
  the
• 25:43
  contractor
• 25:43
  and
• 25:44
  the
• 25:44
  homeowners
• 25:45
  to
• 25:45
  get
• 25:45
  that
• 25:45
  back
• 25:45
  on
• 25:46
  track.
• 25:46
  So
• 25:47
  we
• 25:47
  were
• 25:47
  talking
• 25:48
  about
• 25:48
  just
• 25:48
  taking
• 25:48
  too
• 25:48
  much
• 25:49
  of
• 25:49
  a
• 25:49
  down
• 25:49
  payment
• 25:49
  and
• 25:49
  just
• 25:50
  be
• 25:50
  very
• 25:50
  careful.
• 25:50
  You're
• 25:51
  following
• 25:51
  your
• 25:51
  local
• 25:51
  state's
• 25:52
  rules
• 25:53
  and
• 25:53
  that
• 25:53
  you're
• 25:54
  understand
• 25:54
  what
• 25:54
  you're
• 25:54
  paying
• 25:55
  the
• 25:55
  down
• 25:55
  payment
• 25:55
  for.
• 25:55
  That
• 25:56
  really
• 25:56
  should
• 25:56
  be
• 25:56
  just
• 25:57
  locking
• 25:57
  in
• 25:57
  the
• 25:57
  contract
• 25:58
  and
• 25:58
  of
• 25:58
  course
• 25:59
  paying
• 25:59
  for
• 25:59
  any
• 25:59
  custom
• 26:00
  materials
• 26:00
  that
• 26:00
  have
• 26:00
  to
• 26:00
  be
• 26:01
  ordered
• 26:01
  to
• 26:01
  get
• 26:02
  it
• 26:02
  going.
• 26:03
  So
• 26:03
  that's
• 26:04
  where
• 26:04
  that
• 26:04
  itemized
• 26:04
  contract
• 26:05
  comes
• 26:05
  in.
• 26:06
  So
• 26:06
  the
• 26:07
  next
• 26:07
  one
• 26:07
  here
• 26:07
  is
• 26:07
  an
• 26:07
  important
• 26:08
  one.
• 26:08
  This
• 26:08
  is
• 26:09
  my
• 26:09
  number
• 26:09
  seven
• 26:09
  on
• 26:09
  this
• 26:10
  list.
• 26:10
  These
• 26:10
  are
• 26:10
  not
• 26:10
  in
• 26:10
  a
• 26:11
  particular
• 26:11
  order,
• 26:11
  but
• 26:11
  just
• 26:12
  things
• 26:13
  that.
• 26:13
  That
• 26:13
  can
• 26:13
  burn
• 26:14
  you.
• 26:14
  So
• 26:14
  I
• 26:14
  just
• 26:14
  want
• 26:15
  to
• 26:15
  make
• 26:15
  sure
• 26:15
  that
• 26:15
  you're
• 26:16
  aware
• 26:16
  of
• 26:17
  these.
• 26:17
  The
• 26:18
  next
• 26:18
  one
• 26:18
  is
• 26:18
  not
• 26:18
  following
• 26:19
  local
• 26:19
  state
• 26:20
  laws.
• 26:20
  Those
• 26:21
  local
• 26:21
  laws,
• 26:21
  state
• 26:22
  laws,
• 26:22
  whatever
• 26:22
  it
• 26:22
  is,
• 26:23
  who's
• 26:23
  running
• 26:23
  the
• 26:23
  contractor
• 26:24
  program
• 26:25
  in
• 26:25
  contract
• 26:26
  writing
• 26:27
  and
• 26:27
  not
• 26:27
  putting
• 26:27
  in
• 26:27
  the
• 26:28
  actual
• 26:28
  scope
• 26:28
  of
• 26:29
  work.
• 26:29
  I
• 26:29
  don't
• 26:30
  know
• 26:30
  how
• 26:30
  many
• 26:30
  times
• 26:31
  I
• 26:31
  have
• 26:31
  people
• 26:31
  that
• 26:31
  are
• 26:31
  having
• 26:32
  contractor
• 26:32
  problems.
• 26:33
  They
• 26:33
  have
• 26:33
  a
• 26:34
  one
• 26:34
  page
• 26:34
  thing
• 26:35
  that
• 26:35
  says
• 26:35
  bathroom
• 26:36
  remodel,
• 26:37
  new
• 26:37
  bathtub,
• 26:37
  tile,
• 26:38
  shower,
• 26:38
  blah
• 26:38
  blah
• 26:38
  blah,
• 26:39
  name
• 26:39
  out
• 26:40
  what
• 26:40
  it
• 26:40
  is,
• 26:40
  put
• 26:41
  the
• 26:41
  price
• 26:41
  down,
• 26:42
  50%
• 26:42
  deposit
• 26:43
  and
• 26:43
  it's
• 26:43
  done.
• 26:44
  And
• 26:44
  I'm
• 26:44
  like,
• 26:44
  oh
• 26:44
  no.
• 26:45
  First
• 26:46
  off,
• 26:46
  many
• 26:47
  states
• 26:48
  have
• 26:48
  their
• 26:49
  own
• 26:49
  laws
• 26:49
  for
• 26:50
  contract
• 26:50
  writing.
• 26:51
  So
• 26:51
  if
• 26:52
  it's
• 26:52
  a
• 26:52
  house
• 26:52
  built
• 26:53
  before
• 26:53
  1978,
• 26:54
  they
• 26:54
  want
• 26:55
  to
• 26:55
  have
• 26:55
  a
• 26:55
  lead
• 26:55
  paint
• 26:56
  addendum.
• 26:57
  If
• 26:57
  the
• 26:58
  house
• 26:58
  was
• 26:58
  built
• 26:59
  before
• 26:59
  4,
• 27:00
  they
• 27:01
  want
• 27:01
  to
• 27:01
  have
• 27:01
  an
• 27:01
  asbestos
• 27:02
  addendum.
• 27:03
  But
• 27:03
  you
• 27:03
  have
• 27:03
  to
• 27:03
  have
• 27:03
  all
• 27:04
  these
• 27:04
  different
• 27:04
  things
• 27:05
  depending
• 27:05
  on
• 27:05
  the
• 27:05
  state
• 27:06
  you're
• 27:06
  in.
• 27:07
  So
• 27:07
  understand
• 27:07
  what
• 27:08
  should
• 27:08
  be
• 27:08
  in
• 27:08
  that
• 27:08
  contract
• 27:09
  before
• 27:10
  you
• 27:10
  go
• 27:10
  to
• 27:10
  contract
• 27:11
  so
• 27:11
  you
• 27:11
  can
• 27:12
  be
• 27:12
  aware
• 27:12
  that
• 27:12
  if
• 27:12
  that
• 27:13
  contract
• 27:13
  is
• 27:13
  up
• 27:13
  to
• 27:14
  speed,
• 27:14
  and
• 27:15
  that's
• 27:15
  a
• 27:15
  big
• 27:15
  one
• 27:15
  right
• 27:15
  there.
• 27:16
  But
• 27:16
  I
• 27:16
  also
• 27:16
  want
• 27:16
  to
• 27:17
  see
• 27:17
  it
• 27:17
  very
• 27:17
  itemized
• 27:18
  out.
• 27:18
  And
• 27:19
  you
• 27:19
  know
• 27:19
  something,
• 27:19
  this
• 27:19
  is
• 27:20
  where
• 27:20
  I
• 27:20
  don't
• 27:20
  have
• 27:20
  a
• 27:20
  problem.
• 27:21
  Before
• 27:22
  you
• 27:22
  go
• 27:22
  to
• 27:22
  contract,
• 27:22
  if
• 27:23
  somebody
• 27:23
  says,
• 27:23
  hey,
• 27:23
  I'm
• 27:24
  going
• 27:24
  to
• 27:24
  give
• 27:24
  you
• 27:24
  an
• 27:24
  itemized
• 27:25
  invoice
• 27:26
  of
• 27:26
  what
• 27:26
  this
• 27:27
  is
• 27:27
  going
• 27:27
  to
• 27:27
  cost
• 27:28
  and
• 27:28
  if
• 27:28
  you
• 27:28
  have
• 27:29
  to
• 27:29
  pay
• 27:29
  a
• 27:29
  few
• 27:29
  hundred
• 27:29
  bucks
• 27:30
  to
• 27:30
  it
• 27:30
  that
• 27:30
  come
• 27:31
  off
• 27:31
  the
• 27:32
  project
• 27:32
  if
• 27:32
  you
• 27:32
  buy
• 27:32
  it,
• 27:33
  I'm
• 27:33
  cool
• 27:33
  with
• 27:33
  that.
• 27:34
  I
• 27:34
  am
• 27:34
  okay
• 27:35
  with
• 27:35
  homeowners
• 27:36
  paying
• 27:36
  for
• 27:36
  detailed
• 27:37
  estimates.
• 27:38
  If
• 27:38
  a
• 27:38
  contractor
• 27:39
  comes
• 27:39
  out
• 27:39
  and
• 27:39
  goes,
• 27:39
  I
• 27:40
  think
• 27:40
  this
• 27:40
  is
• 27:40
  going
• 27:40
  to
• 27:40
  be
• 27:40
  a
• 27:41
  50
• 27:41
  to
• 27:41
  $60,000
• 27:42
  project.
• 27:43
  And
• 27:43
  you
• 27:43
  go,
• 27:43
  okay,
• 27:44
  that's
• 27:44
  in
• 27:44
  my
• 27:44
  wheelhouse.
• 27:45
  I'd
• 27:46
  like
• 27:46
  to
• 27:46
  see
• 27:46
  it
• 27:46
  itemized.
• 27:47
  And
• 27:47
  the
• 27:47
  guy
• 27:47
  goes,
• 27:47
  hey.
• 27:48
  The
• 27:48
  lady
• 27:48
  goes,
• 27:49
  it's
• 27:49
  going
• 27:49
  to
• 27:49
  take
• 27:50
  me
• 27:50
  probably
• 27:50
  a
• 27:50
  full
• 27:51
  day
• 27:51
  to
• 27:51
  get
• 27:51
  that
• 27:51
  written
• 27:51
  up
• 27:51
  with
• 27:52
  all
• 27:52
  the
• 27:52
  quotes
• 27:52
  and
• 27:52
  estimates.
• 27:53
  I'm
• 27:53
  going
• 27:53
  to
• 27:54
  charge
• 27:54
  you
• 27:54
  500
• 27:54
  bucks
• 27:54
  to
• 27:55
  do
• 27:55
  that.
• 27:55
  And
• 27:56
  that
• 27:56
  500
• 27:56
  bucks
• 27:56
  comes
• 27:57
  off
• 27:58
  your
• 27:58
  deposit
• 27:59
  on
• 27:59
  the
• 27:59
  project.
• 27:59
  I'm
• 28:00
  totally
• 28:00
  cool
• 28:01
  with
• 28:02
  them
• 28:02
  charging
• 28:02
  you
• 28:02
  for
• 28:02
  whatever
• 28:03
  their
• 28:03
  time
• 28:03
  is
• 28:04
  for
• 28:04
  that
• 28:04
  as
• 28:05
  long
• 28:05
  as
• 28:05
  it
• 28:05
  comes
• 28:05
  back
• 28:06
  off.
• 28:06
  Because
• 28:06
  I
• 28:06
  hate
• 28:06
  people
• 28:07
  working
• 28:07
  for
• 28:07
  free.
• 28:08
  And
• 28:08
  that's
• 28:08
  a
• 28:09
  big
• 28:09
  problem
• 28:09
  to
• 28:09
  me.
• 28:10
  That's
• 28:10
  a
• 28:10
  big
• 28:11
  problem
• 28:11
  to
• 28:11
  me.
• 28:12
  So
• 28:12
  don't
• 28:12
  be
• 28:13
  afraid
• 28:13
  of
• 28:13
  that.
• 28:13
  That's
• 28:13
  not
• 28:13
  part
• 28:14
  of
• 28:14
  the
• 28:14
  scam.
• 28:14
  I
• 28:14
  just
• 28:14
  want
• 28:15
  to
• 28:15
  make
• 28:15
  sure
• 28:15
  that
• 28:15
  if
• 28:16
  somebody
• 28:16
  does,
• 28:17
  I'm
• 28:17
  okay
• 28:17
  with
• 28:18
  that.
• 28:18
  Because
• 28:18
  busy
• 28:19
  contractors
• 28:20
  are
• 28:20
  up
• 28:20
  late
• 28:20
  at
• 28:20
  night,
• 28:21
  mornings,
• 28:21
  afternoons.
• 28:22
  They're
• 28:23
  not
• 28:23
  working
• 28:23
  when
• 28:23
  they're
• 28:23
  doing
• 28:23
  that.
• 28:24
  So
• 28:24
  they
• 28:24
  should
• 28:24
  be,
• 28:25
  you
• 28:25
  know,
• 28:25
  otherwise
• 28:26
  your
• 28:26
  project
• 28:26
  gets
• 28:26
  marked
• 28:27
  up
• 28:27
  and
• 28:27
  it's
• 28:27
  hidden
• 28:27
  that.
• 28:28
  So
• 28:28
  I'm
• 28:28
  okay
• 28:29
  with
• 28:29
  that.
• 28:29
  I'm
• 28:30
  okay
• 28:30
  with
• 28:30
  that.
• 28:31
  So
• 28:32
  make
• 28:32
  sure
• 28:32
  that
• 28:32
  they're
• 28:32
  following
• 28:33
  those
• 28:33
  scope
• 28:33
  of
• 28:33
  works.
• 28:34
  But
• 28:34
  I
• 28:34
  want
• 28:34
  to
• 28:34
  see
• 28:34
  all
• 28:35
  the
• 28:35
  details.
• 28:36
  I
• 28:36
  want
• 28:36
  to
• 28:36
  see
• 28:37
  every
• 28:37
  little
• 28:37
  detail
• 28:38
  on
• 28:38
  that
• 28:38
  thing.
• 28:38
  I
• 28:38
  Want
• 28:38
  to
• 28:38
  see
• 28:39
  allowances,
• 28:40
  I
• 28:40
  want
• 28:40
  to
• 28:40
  see
• 28:41
  all
• 28:41
  of
• 28:41
  that
• 28:41
  stuff
• 28:42
  for
• 28:42
  the
• 28:42
  line
• 28:43
  items.
• 28:43
  For
• 28:43
  instance,
• 28:44
  if
• 28:45
  I'm
• 28:45
  looking
• 28:45
  at
• 28:45
  a
• 28:45
  kitchen
• 28:46
  remodel,
• 28:47
  I
• 28:47
  want
• 28:47
  to
• 28:47
  go
• 28:47
  through
• 28:47
  cabinets
• 28:48
  are
• 28:48
  this
• 28:48
  price,
• 28:49
  countertops
• 28:50
  are
• 28:50
  this
• 28:50
  price.
• 28:50
  Knobs,
• 28:51
  the
• 28:51
  new
• 28:52
  electrical,
• 28:52
  the
• 28:53
  new
• 28:53
  plumbing,
• 28:54
  sinks,
• 28:55
  appliances.
• 28:56
  I
• 28:56
  want
• 28:56
  to
• 28:56
  see
• 28:56
  those
• 28:56
  things
• 28:57
  as
• 28:57
  an
• 28:57
  allowance
• 28:58
  in
• 28:58
  the
• 28:58
  project,
• 28:59
  what
• 29:00
  you're
• 29:00
  getting.
• 29:00
  Because
• 29:00
  one
• 29:00
  of
• 29:00
  the
• 29:01
  biggest
• 29:01
  things
• 29:01
  are
• 29:02
  in
• 29:02
  this
• 29:03
  scope
• 29:03
  of
• 29:03
  work,
• 29:04
  people
• 29:05
  think
• 29:05
  that
• 29:05
  they're
• 29:05
  getting
• 29:06
  200,
• 29:07
  200
• 29:08
  piece
• 29:08
  knobs
• 29:09
  and
• 29:09
  the
• 29:09
  contractor
• 29:10
  priced
• 29:10
  out
• 29:10
  two
• 29:11
  dollar
• 29:11
  knobs.
• 29:11
  And
• 29:12
  that's
• 29:12
  what
• 29:12
  I
• 29:12
  worry
• 29:13
  about,
• 29:13
  making
• 29:13
  sure
• 29:13
  that
• 29:13
  you're
• 29:13
  getting
• 29:14
  the
• 29:14
  quality
• 29:14
  that
• 29:15
  you
• 29:15
  think
• 29:15
  you
• 29:16
  are.
• 29:16
  So
• 29:16
  that
• 29:17
  needs
• 29:17
  to
• 29:17
  be
• 29:17
  all
• 29:17
  part
• 29:18
  of
• 29:18
  that.
• 29:18
  So
• 29:18
  you're
• 29:19
  good
• 29:19
  to
• 29:19
  go.
• 29:20
  That
• 29:20
  should
• 29:20
  be
• 29:20
  all
• 29:21
  part
• 29:21
  of
• 29:21
  that
• 29:21
  thing
• 29:22
  to
• 29:22
  get
• 29:22
  you
• 29:22
  dialed
• 29:23
  in.
• 29:23
  So
• 29:23
  make
• 29:23
  sure
• 29:24
  you're
• 29:24
  good
• 29:24
  as
• 29:24
  gold
• 29:25
  for
• 29:25
  that.
• 29:26
  So
• 29:26
  that's
• 29:27
  a
• 29:27
  big
• 29:27
  one
• 29:27
  right
• 29:27
  there
• 29:27
  to
• 29:28
  make
• 29:28
  sure
• 29:28
  that
• 29:29
  detailed
• 29:29
  bit
• 29:30
  with
• 29:30
  the
• 29:30
  quality
• 29:31
  of
• 29:31
  the
• 29:31
  materials
• 29:32
  is
• 29:32
  in
• 29:32
  the
• 29:32
  budget.
• 29:33
  Now
• 29:33
  the
• 29:33
  next
• 29:33
  one
• 29:34
  here
• 29:34
  I
• 29:34
  want
• 29:34
  to
• 29:34
  do
• 29:34
  before
• 29:34
  we
• 29:35
  go
• 29:35
  to
• 29:35
  break.
• 29:35
  And
• 29:36
  this
• 29:36
  is
• 29:36
  a
• 29:36
  big
• 29:36
  one.
• 29:37
  Now
• 29:37
  when
• 29:38
  I
• 29:38
  see
• 29:39
  this
• 29:39
  is
• 29:39
  for
• 29:40
  kitchen
• 29:40
  and
• 29:40
  bath
• 29:40
  projects
• 29:42
  specifically,
• 29:43
  I
• 29:43
  want
• 29:44
  to
• 29:44
  see
• 29:44
  you
• 29:44
  as
• 29:44
  the
• 29:45
  homeowner
• 29:46
  on
• 29:46
  a
• 29:46
  kitchen
• 29:46
  cabinetry
• 29:47
  or
• 29:48
  a
• 29:48
  bathroom
• 29:48
  cabinetry
• 29:49
  project.
• 29:50
  I
• 29:50
  don't
• 29:50
  know
• 29:50
  if
• 29:50
  I'll
• 29:51
  even
• 29:51
  get
• 29:51
  through
• 29:51
  this
• 29:51
  before
• 29:52
  we
• 29:52
  go
• 29:52
  to
• 29:52
  break.
• 29:52
  But
• 29:52
  this
• 29:53
  is
• 29:53
  an
• 29:53
  important
• 29:53
  one.
• 29:54
  I
• 29:54
  want
• 29:54
  to
• 29:55
  see
• 29:55
  you
• 29:56
  have
• 29:57
  everything
• 29:57
  spelled
• 29:57
  out.
• 29:58
  So
• 29:58
  I
• 29:59
  want
• 29:59
  to
• 29:59
  see
• 29:59
  that
• 29:59
  design,
• 30:00
  I
• 30:01
  want
• 30:01
  to
• 30:01
  see
• 30:01
  the
• 30:01
  elevations,
• 30:03
  I
• 30:03
  want
• 30:03
  to
• 30:03
  see
• 30:03
  that
• 30:04
  it's
• 30:04
  been
• 30:04
  verified.
• 30:05
  I
• 30:05
  want
• 30:06
  to
• 30:06
  see
• 30:06
  that
• 30:07
  you've
• 30:07
  signed
• 30:08
  on
• 30:08
  the
• 30:08
  dotted
• 30:09
  line.
• 30:09
  Your
• 30:09
  initials
• 30:10
  are
• 30:10
  on
• 30:10
  every
• 30:10
  page
• 30:11
  of
• 30:11
  that.
• 30:12
  I
• 30:12
  want
• 30:12
  to
• 30:12
  see
• 30:13
  a
• 30:13
  color
• 30:13
  sample
• 30:14
  of
• 30:14
  the
• 30:14
  cabinetry,
• 30:15
  preferably
• 30:16
  a
• 30:16
  door
• 30:17
  sample
• 30:17
  in
• 30:17
  that
• 30:18
  or
• 30:18
  at
• 30:19
  least
• 30:19
  a
• 30:19
  color
• 30:19
  swatch.
• 30:20
  And
• 30:20
  that
• 30:20
  should
• 30:20
  be
• 30:21
  at
• 30:21
  least
• 30:21
  the
• 30:22
  size
• 30:22
  of
• 30:23
  a
• 30:23
  piece
• 30:23
  of
• 30:23
  paper.
• 30:24
  Eight
• 30:24
  and
• 30:24
  a
• 30:24
  half
• 30:24
  by
• 30:25
  11.
• 30:25
  I
• 30:26
  want
• 30:26
  to
• 30:26
  see
• 30:26
  what
• 30:26
  that
• 30:27
  is.
• 30:27
  I
• 30:27
  want
• 30:27
  to
• 30:28
  see
• 30:28
  a
• 30:28
  door
• 30:28
  style
• 30:29
  of
• 30:29
  that
• 30:29
  and
• 30:30
  I
• 30:30
  want
• 30:30
  to
• 30:30
  see
• 30:30
  the
• 30:30
  construction
• 30:32
  of
• 30:32
  that
• 30:33
  cabinetry
• 30:34
  laid
• 30:34
  out.
• 30:35
  Now
• 30:35
  it's
• 30:35
  a
• 30:35
  lot
• 30:36
  easier
• 30:36
  when
• 30:36
  it
• 30:36
  is
• 30:37
  a
• 30:37
  manufactured
• 30:38
  cabinetry
• 30:38
  that
• 30:39
  you
• 30:39
  know,
• 30:39
  maybe
• 30:39
  from
• 30:39
  a
• 30:39
  big
• 30:40
  box
• 30:40
  store,
• 30:40
  from
• 30:41
  a
• 30:41
  kitchen,
• 30:41
  a
• 30:41
  bachelor
• 30:41
  room,
• 30:42
  where
• 30:42
  it's
• 30:43
  something
• 30:43
  that's
• 30:43
  common,
• 30:44
  right?
• 30:44
  Craft
• 30:45
  made
• 30:45
  American
• 30:45
  Woodmark
• 30:47
  Schuler,
• 30:48
  you
• 30:48
  know,
• 30:48
  could
• 30:48
  be
• 30:49
  decor.
• 30:50
  It
• 30:50
  could
• 30:51
  name
• 30:51
  a
• 30:51
  bunch
• 30:51
  of
• 30:51
  different
• 30:52
  brands.
• 30:52
  It
• 30:53
  could
• 30:53
  be
• 30:53
  any
• 30:53
  of
• 30:53
  those
• 30:54
  because
• 30:54
  they
• 30:55
  have
• 30:55
  set
• 30:55
  standards
• 30:56
  which
• 30:56
  are
• 30:56
  their
• 30:56
  standard
• 30:57
  construction.
• 30:58
  Where
• 30:58
  it
• 30:59
  gets
• 30:59
  gray
• 31:00
  is
• 31:00
  in
• 31:00
  your
• 31:00
  custom
• 31:01
  cabinet
• 31:01
  shops
• 31:02
  because
• 31:03
  they
• 31:03
  many
• 31:03
  times
• 31:04
  don't
• 31:04
  have
• 31:05
  a
• 31:05
  standard
• 31:06
  of
• 31:06
  construction.
• 31:07
  You
• 31:07
  don't
• 31:08
  know
• 31:08
  the
• 31:08
  glide
• 31:08
  you're
• 31:08
  getting.
• 31:09
  You
• 31:09
  don't
• 31:09
  know
• 31:09
  if
• 31:09
  it's
• 31:09
  particle
• 31:10
  board,
• 31:10
  if
• 31:10
  it's
• 31:11
  plywood,
• 31:11
  if
• 31:11
  it's
• 31:12
  a,
• 31:12
  where's
• 31:13
  the
• 31:13
  plywood
• 31:13
  coming
• 31:14
  from?
• 31:14
  Is
• 31:14
  it
• 31:14
  a
• 31:14
  frameless
• 31:15
  cabinet?
• 31:15
  Is
• 31:15
  an
• 31:15
  inset
• 31:16
  cabinet?
• 31:16
  Is
• 31:16
  it
• 31:17
  a
• 31:17
  face
• 31:17
  frame
• 31:17
  style
• 31:18
  cabinet?
• 31:18
  What
• 31:19
  is
• 31:19
  it?
• 31:20
  What's
• 31:20
  the
• 31:20
  construction
• 31:21
  and
• 31:21
  all
• 31:22
  that.
• 31:22
  So
• 31:23
  that
• 31:23
  stuff
• 31:24
  needs
• 31:24
  to
• 31:24
  be
• 31:24
  spelled
• 31:25
  out
• 31:25
  in
• 31:25
  detail
• 31:25
  and
• 31:26
  that
• 31:26
  could
• 31:26
  take
• 31:26
  up
• 31:27
  eight
• 31:27
  or
• 31:27
  10
• 31:28
  pages.
• 31:28
  But
• 31:29
  that
• 31:29
  should
• 31:29
  be
• 31:29
  all
• 31:30
  detailed
• 31:30
  out
• 31:30
  as
• 31:31
  part
• 31:31
  of
• 31:31
  that
• 31:31
  purchase
• 31:32
  because
• 31:33
  not
• 31:33
  only
• 31:33
  does
• 31:33
  that
• 31:34
  protect
• 31:34
  the
• 31:34
  cabinet
• 31:35
  company,
• 31:36
  but
• 31:36
  it
• 31:36
  also
• 31:36
  shows
• 31:37
  you
• 31:37
  what
• 31:37
  to
• 31:37
  expect.
• 31:38
  And
• 31:39
  that's
• 31:39
  the
• 31:39
  problem
• 31:39
  with
• 31:39
  lighter
• 31:40
  woods.
• 31:40
  For
• 31:40
  instance,
• 31:41
  if
• 31:41
  you're
• 31:41
  looking
• 31:42
  at
• 31:42
  really
• 31:43
  light
• 31:43
  woods
• 31:44
  like
• 31:45
  white
• 31:45
  oak
• 31:45
  or
• 31:46
  maple,
• 31:46
  it's
• 31:47
  wood.
• 31:48
  If
• 31:48
  there's
• 31:48
  certain
• 31:49
  minerals
• 31:49
  in
• 31:49
  the
• 31:49
  ground
• 31:50
  where
• 31:50
  that's
• 31:50
  growing,
• 31:51
  it
• 31:51
  could
• 31:52
  be
• 31:52
  a
• 31:52
  little
• 31:52
  more
• 31:52
  pink,
• 31:53
  it
• 31:53
  could
• 31:53
  be
• 31:54
  a
• 31:54
  little
• 31:54
  orange,
• 31:55
  and
• 31:55
  then
• 31:55
  those
• 31:55
  woods
• 31:56
  will
• 31:56
  change
• 31:56
  after
• 31:56
  time.
• 31:57
  So
• 31:57
  if
• 31:57
  we
• 31:57
  get
• 31:58
  exposed
• 31:58
  to
• 31:58
  UV
• 31:59
  light
• 31:59
  through
• 32:00
  a
• 32:00
  reflection
• 32:00
  off
• 32:00
  the
• 32:01
  lake,
• 32:01
  that
• 32:02
  walnut
• 32:02
  will
• 32:02
  lighten,
• 32:03
  the
• 32:03
  cherry
• 32:03
  will
• 32:03
  darken
• 32:04
  to
• 32:04
  a
• 32:04
  point,
• 32:04
  the
• 32:05
  maple
• 32:05
  will
• 32:05
  yellow.
• 32:06
  So
• 32:06
  you
• 32:07
  understand,
• 32:07
  hey,
• 32:07
  that's
• 32:08
  what's
• 32:08
  going
• 32:08
  on
• 32:08
  here
• 32:09
  because
• 32:09
  I
• 32:09
  want
• 32:09
  to
• 32:09
  make
• 32:09
  sure
• 32:10
  that
• 32:10
  you
• 32:10
  understand
• 32:10
  what's
• 32:11
  going
• 32:11
  on
• 32:11
  at
• 32:11
  that.
• 32:11
  And
• 32:12
  you
• 32:12
  can
• 32:12
  see
• 32:13
  what
• 32:13
  is
• 32:14
  in
• 32:14
  that
• 32:14
  because
• 32:15
  that's
• 32:15
  where
• 32:15
  the
• 32:15
  things
• 32:16
  come
• 32:16
  off
• 32:16
  the
• 32:16
  rails,
• 32:17
  even
• 32:17
  on
• 32:17
  a
• 32:17
  successful
• 32:18
  project
• 32:19
  is
• 32:19
  lack
• 32:20
  of
• 32:20
  communication,
• 32:20
  lack
• 32:21
  of
• 32:21
  understanding.
• 32:22
  What's
• 32:22
  going
• 32:22
  on
• 32:22
  is
• 32:23
  that
• 32:23
  fixed
• 32:23
  shelves,
• 32:23
  is
• 32:24
  half
• 32:24
  def
• 32:24

• 32:25
  Is
• 32:25
  it
• 32:25
  full
• 32:25
  depth
• 32:26
  shelves?
• 32:26
  Are
• 32:26
  they
• 32:26
  adjustable?
• 32:27
  All
• 32:27
  those
• 32:27
  things
• 32:28
  that
• 32:28
  should
• 32:28
  be
• 32:28
  all
• 32:29
  spelled
• 32:29
  out
• 32:30
  so
• 32:30
  you
• 32:30
  understand
• 32:31
  it.
• 32:31
  Now
• 32:31
  when
• 32:32
  we
• 32:32
  come
• 32:32
  back,
• 32:33
  I've
• 32:33
  got
• 32:34
  two
• 32:34
  big
• 32:34
  ones
• 32:34
  we're
• 32:35
  going
• 32:35
  to
• 32:35
  talk
• 32:35
  about
• 32:36
  and
• 32:36
  a
• 32:36
  few
• 32:36
  other
• 32:37
  little
• 32:37
  tips
• 32:37
  as
• 32:37
  well.
• 32:38
  And
• 32:38
  we'll
• 32:39
  do
• 32:39
  that
• 32:39
  just
• 32:39
  as
• 32:39
  soon

  as

  releases.
• 36:59
  So
• 36:59
  here's
• 37:00
  what
• 37:00
  happens
• 37:01
  if
• 37:02
  contractor
• 37:02
  goes
• 37:03
  down,
• 37:03
  buys
• 37:04
  on
• 37:04
  their
• 37:04
  line
• 37:04
  of
• 37:05
  credit
• 37:05
  materials
• 37:06
  for
• 37:06
  your
• 37:06
  job,
• 37:07
  skips
• 37:07
  out
• 37:07
  on
• 37:08
  the
• 37:08
  bill.
• 37:08
  In
• 37:09
  many
• 37:09
  cases
• 37:10
  that
• 37:10
  lumber
• 37:11
  yard
• 37:11
  can
• 37:11
  turn
• 37:11
  around
• 37:12
  and
• 37:12
  put
• 37:12
  a
• 37:12
  lien
• 37:13
  on
• 37:13
  your
• 37:13
  house
• 37:14
  to
• 37:15
  get
• 37:15
  paid,
• 37:16
  which
• 37:16
  means
• 37:17
  you've
• 37:17
  already
• 37:17
  paid
• 37:17
  the
• 37:18
  contractor.
• 37:19
  So
• 37:19
  you
• 37:19
  want
• 37:19
  to
• 37:19
  make
• 37:20
  sure
• 37:20
  that
• 37:20
  you
• 37:20
  are
• 37:20
  paying
• 37:21
  that
• 37:22
  contractor
• 37:23
  in
• 37:23
  a
• 37:23
  way
• 37:23
  that
• 37:23
  can
• 37:24
  be
• 37:24
  tracked.
• 37:25
  Because
• 37:25
  if
• 37:25
  you've
• 37:25
  already
• 37:26
  paid,
• 37:27
  when
• 37:27
  that
• 37:27
  goes
• 37:27
  in
• 37:27
  front
• 37:27
  of
• 37:28
  a
• 37:28
  judge,
• 37:28
  you
• 37:29
  want
• 37:29
  to
• 37:29
  make
• 37:29
  sure
• 37:29
  your
• 37:29
  butt
• 37:30
  is
• 37:30
  covered.
• 37:30
  If
• 37:30
  they're
• 37:31
  doing
• 37:31
  a
• 37:31
  cash
• 37:31
  deal,
• 37:32
  that
• 37:32
  can
• 37:32
  get
• 37:33
  to
• 37:33
  be
• 37:33
  a
• 37:33
  problem
• 37:34
  because
• 37:34
  you
• 37:35
  can't
• 37:35
  prove
• 37:35
  that
• 37:36
  you
• 37:36
  paid
• 37:36
  your
• 37:36
  contractor,
• 37:37
  which
• 37:37
  means
• 37:38
  you
• 37:38
  might
• 37:38
  be
• 37:38
  on
• 37:38
  the
• 37:38
  hook
• 37:39
  for
• 37:39
  the
• 37:39
  materials
• 37:39
  twice.
• 37:40
  Now
• 37:41
  here's
• 37:41
  what
• 37:41
  happens
• 37:42
  and
• 37:42
  this
• 37:42
  is
• 37:42
  where
• 37:42
  homeowners
• 37:43
  get
• 37:43
  freaked
• 37:43
  out
• 37:44
  when
• 37:44
  this
• 37:44
  happens.
• 37:44
  In
• 37:45
  states
• 37:45
  there
• 37:46
  is
• 37:46
  a
• 37:46
  lien
• 37:46
  release,
• 37:48
  so
• 37:48
  you
• 37:48
  might
• 37:49
  be
• 37:49
  working
• 37:49
  on
• 37:49
  a
• 37:49
  big
• 37:50
  project
• 37:50
  and
• 37:50
  all
• 37:51
  of
• 37:51
  A
• 37:51
  sudden
• 37:51
  in
• 37:51
  the
• 37:51
  mail
• 37:51
  one
• 37:52
  day,
• 37:52
  you
• 37:52
  have
• 37:52
  three
• 37:52
  or
• 37:53
  four
• 37:53
  lien
• 37:54
  notices
• 37:55
  that,
• 37:55
  hey,
• 37:56
  I
• 37:56
  am
• 37:57
  the
• 37:57
  lumber
• 37:57
  company
• 37:58
  and
• 37:59
  this
• 37:59
  contractor
• 38:00
  is
• 38:00
  buying
• 38:00
  stuff
• 38:01
  with
• 38:01
  your
• 38:01
  address.
• 38:02
  And
• 38:03
  if
• 38:04
  they
• 38:04
  don't
• 38:04
  pay
• 38:04
  the
• 38:04
  bill,
• 38:05
  we
• 38:05
  have
• 38:05
  the
• 38:05
  ability
• 38:06
  to
• 38:06
  lean
• 38:06
  your
• 38:07
  project.
• 38:08
  Many
• 38:08
  times
• 38:08
  homeowners
• 38:09
  see
• 38:09
  that
• 38:10
  from
• 38:10
  their
• 38:10
  contractor
• 38:11
  and
• 38:11
  they
• 38:12
  freak
• 38:12
  out.
• 38:13
  Don't
• 38:13
  freak
• 38:13
  out.
• 38:13
  As
• 38:14
  long
• 38:14
  as
• 38:14
  that's
• 38:14
  your
• 38:14
  person
• 38:15
  they're
• 38:15
  doing
• 38:15
  it.
• 38:16
  That's
• 38:16
  a
• 38:16
  big
• 38:16
  one.
• 38:17
  So
• 38:17
  when
• 38:18
  you
• 38:18
  see
• 38:18
  that
• 38:18
  that's
• 38:19
  the
• 38:19
  notice,
• 38:19
  that's
• 38:19
  the
• 38:20
  lien
• 38:20
  notice.
• 38:20
  Then
• 38:20
  there's
• 38:20
  a
• 38:21
  lien
• 38:21
  release.
• 38:22
  When
• 38:22
  they
• 38:23
  get
• 38:23
  paid,
• 38:23
  they
• 38:24
  notify
• 38:24
  you
• 38:25
  that,
• 38:25
  hey,
• 38:26
  I
• 38:26
  don't
• 38:26
  have
• 38:26
  a
• 38:27
  right
• 38:27
  to
• 38:27
  lien
• 38:27
  you
• 38:28
  because
• 38:28
  I
• 38:28
  have
• 38:28
  been
• 38:28
  paid
• 38:29
  in
• 38:29
  full.
• 38:29
  Here's
• 38:30
  the
• 38:30
  details.
• 38:31
  And
• 38:31
  they
• 38:31
  will
• 38:32
  send
• 38:32
  you
• 38:32
  that
• 38:32
  lien
• 38:32
  release.
• 38:34
  So
• 38:34
  you
• 38:34
  want
• 38:34
  to
• 38:34
  make
• 38:35
  sure
• 38:35
  in
• 38:35
  states
• 38:35
  that
• 38:36
  do
• 38:36
  this,
• 38:36
  that
• 38:36
  if
• 38:37
  you
• 38:37
  got
• 38:37
  those
• 38:37
  lien
• 38:37
  notices,
• 38:38
  those
• 38:39
  are
• 38:39
  dialed
• 38:39
  up
• 38:40
  and
• 38:40
  taken
• 38:41
  care
• 38:41
  of
• 38:42
  before
• 38:43
  that
• 38:43
  project
• 38:44
  is
• 38:44
  closed
• 38:44
  out
• 38:44
  and
• 38:45
  you've
• 38:45
  written
• 38:45
  the
• 38:45
  final
• 38:45
  check,
• 38:46
  make
• 38:46
  sure
• 38:46
  that
• 38:46
  those
• 38:47
  are
• 38:47
  all
• 38:47
  taken
• 38:47
  care
• 38:48
  of.
• 38:48
  And
• 38:48
  you
• 38:48
  can
• 38:48
  get
• 38:48
  a
• 38:49
  hold
• 38:49
  of
• 38:49
  a
• 38:49
  title
• 38:49
  company
• 38:49
  or
• 38:50
  anything
• 38:50
  else
• 38:50
  to
• 38:50
  see
• 38:50
  if
• 38:50
  there's
• 38:51
  any
• 38:51
  liens
• 38:51
  or
• 38:51
  things
• 38:51
  like
• 38:52
  that
• 38:52
  out
• 38:52
  there.
• 38:53
  But
• 38:53
  that's
• 38:53
  something
• 38:54
  you
• 38:54
  want
• 38:54
  to
• 38:54
  make
• 38:54
  sure
• 38:55
  to
• 38:55
  get
• 38:55
  that
• 38:55
  dialed
• 38:56
  in.
• 38:56
  And
• 38:56
  that
• 38:57
  way
• 38:57
  you
• 38:57
  don't
• 38:57
  have
• 38:58
  any
• 38:58
  surprises
• 38:59
  when
• 39:00
  it
• 39:00
  comes
• 39:00
  to
• 39:01
  dealing
• 39:01
  with
• 39:01
  this,
• 39:02
  because
• 39:02
  that
• 39:02
  can
• 39:02
  get
• 39:02
  super
• 39:03
  expensive
• 39:03
  when
• 39:04
  you
• 39:04
  have
• 39:04
  to
• 39:04
  chase
• 39:04
  that
• 39:05
  down.
• 39:05
  So
• 39:06
  those
• 39:06
  liens,
• 39:07
  I
• 39:07
  get
• 39:07
  it.
• 39:08
  That
• 39:08
  is
• 39:08
  how
• 39:08
  the
• 39:09
  manufacturers
• 39:10
  or
• 39:10
  suppliers
• 39:11
  can,
• 39:12
  when
• 39:12
  they're
• 39:12
  doing
• 39:12
  this
• 39:13
  on
• 39:13
  credit,
• 39:13
  that
• 39:13
  is
• 39:14
  their
• 39:14
  protection.
• 39:15
  I
• 39:15
  just
• 39:15
  want
• 39:15
  to
• 39:16
  make
• 39:16
  sure
• 39:16
  you
• 39:16
  understand
• 39:17
  that
• 39:18
  to
• 39:18
  make
• 39:18
  sure
• 39:18
  it's
• 39:18
  taken
• 39:19
  care
• 39:19
  of.
• 39:19
  Now,
• 39:20
  the
• 39:20
  next
• 39:20
  one
• 39:21
  here,
• 39:21
  number
• 39:22
  10
• 39:22
  on
• 39:22
  the
• 39:22
  list,
• 39:23
  got
• 39:23
  a
• 39:23
  couple
• 39:24
  honorable
• 39:24
  mentions
• 39:25
  here
• 39:25
  too.
• 39:25
  But
• 39:26
  number
• 39:26
  10
• 39:26
  on
• 39:26
  the
• 39:27
  list
• 39:27
  is
• 39:27
  a
• 39:27
  big
• 39:27
  one.
• 39:27
  And
• 39:28
  this
• 39:28
  is
• 39:28
  something
• 39:28
  that
• 39:29
  takes
• 39:29
  a
• 39:29
  little
• 39:29
  bit
• 39:30
  of
• 39:30
  detectiveness
• 39:31
  to
• 39:31
  make
• 39:32
  sure.
• 39:32
  And
• 39:32
  this
• 39:33
  is
• 39:33
  why
• 39:33
  I
• 39:33
  really
• 39:33
  like
• 39:34
  it
• 39:34
  when
• 39:34
  you
• 39:34
  are
• 39:35
  working
• 39:35
  with
• 39:35
  people
• 39:35
  that
• 39:36
  you
• 39:36
  have
• 39:36
  been
• 39:36
  referred.
• 39:37
  Oh,
• 39:38
  yeah,
• 39:38
  my
• 39:38
  neighbor
• 39:39
  next
• 39:39
  door,
• 39:39
  they
• 39:40
  did
• 39:40
  the
• 39:40
  roof
• 39:40
  there
• 39:40
  and
• 39:40
  they
• 39:41
  did
• 39:41
  four
• 39:41
  other
• 39:41
  friends
• 39:42
  roofs.
• 39:42
  This
• 39:43
  contractor's
• 39:43
  been
• 39:43
  working
• 39:44
  with
• 39:44
  me
• 39:44
  for
• 39:45
  20
• 39:45
  years.
• 39:45
  Use
• 39:46
  them.
• 39:46
  I
• 39:46
  totally
• 39:47
  get
• 39:47
  it.
• 39:47
  The
• 39:48
  biggest
• 39:48
  problem
• 39:48
  that
• 39:49
  I
• 39:49
  see
• 39:49
  out
• 39:50
  there
• 39:50
  when
• 39:51
  it
• 39:51
  comes
• 39:51
  to
• 39:51
  licensed
• 39:52
  bonded
• 39:52
  insured
• 39:53
  contractors
• 39:54
  are
• 39:54
  the
• 39:54
  people
• 39:54
  that
• 39:55
  are
• 39:55
  pretending
• 39:55
  to
• 39:55
  be
• 39:56
  them.
• 39:56
  Here's
• 39:57
  what
• 39:57
  happens.
• 39:58
  A
• 39:58
  lot
• 39:58
  of
• 39:58
  times
• 39:58
  it's
• 39:59
  a
• 39:59
  former
• 40:00
  employee,
• 40:01
  but
• 40:01
  it
• 40:01
  can
• 40:02
  be
• 40:02
  somebody
• 40:02
  just
• 40:02
  out
• 40:03
  on
• 40:03
  the
• 40:03
  blue
• 40:03
  and
• 40:04
  they
• 40:04
  are
• 40:04
  rolling
• 40:05
  around
• 40:05
  with
• 40:05
  business
• 40:05
  cards
• 40:06
  that
• 40:06
  have
• 40:06
  the
• 40:06
  company
• 40:06
  name,
• 40:07
  the
• 40:07
  company
• 40:07
  license.
• 40:08
  You
• 40:08
  jump
• 40:08
  on
• 40:08
  the
• 40:09
  website,
• 40:09
  you
• 40:10
  go
• 40:10
  on
• 40:10
  there
• 40:10
  and
• 40:11
  go,
• 40:11
  wow,
• 40:11
  Yep,
• 40:12
  that's
• 40:12
  them.
• 40:12
  That's
• 40:12
  their
• 40:13
  license
• 40:14
  number.
• 40:14
  That's
• 40:14
  Their
• 40:14
  address,
• 40:15
  they
• 40:15
  look
• 40:16
  legit.
• 40:17
  But
• 40:17
  if
• 40:17
  you
• 40:17
  don't
• 40:17
  have
• 40:18
  the
• 40:18
  business
• 40:18
  owner
• 40:19
  out
• 40:19
  there,
• 40:20
  that
• 40:20
  can
• 40:20
  be
• 40:20
  a
• 40:21
  problem.
• 40:21
  What
• 40:22
  are
• 40:22
  the
• 40:22
  warning
• 40:22
  signs
• 40:23
  of
• 40:23
  this?
• 40:23
  When
• 40:24
  they
• 40:24
  show
• 40:24
  up
• 40:24
  in
• 40:24
  the
• 40:24
  company
• 40:25
  truck
• 40:25
  and
• 40:25
  it
• 40:25
  looks
• 40:25
  like
• 40:26
  a
• 40:26
  company
• 40:26
  truck
• 40:26
  and
• 40:26
  it's
• 40:27
  got
• 40:27
  the
• 40:27
  wrap
• 40:27
  on
• 40:27
  it
• 40:27
  and
• 40:28
  much
• 40:28
  less
• 40:28
  of
• 40:28
  a.
• 40:28
  That's
• 40:29
  a
• 40:29
  bigger
• 40:29
  scam
• 40:29
  to
• 40:30
  pull
• 40:30
  off.
• 40:30
  But
• 40:31
  what
• 40:31
  I
• 40:31
  see,
• 40:32
  though
• 40:32
  is
• 40:33
  that
• 40:33
  people
• 40:33
  will
• 40:33
  do
• 40:33
  that,
• 40:34
  make
• 40:34
  their
• 40:34
  business
• 40:34
  cards.
• 40:35
  And
• 40:35
  the
• 40:35
  scams
• 40:36
  that
• 40:36
  you
• 40:36
  start
• 40:36
  to
• 40:36
  see
• 40:36
  is
• 40:37
  they
• 40:37
  try
• 40:37
  to
• 40:37
  get
• 40:37
  a
• 40:37
  deposit
• 40:38
  out
• 40:38
  of
• 40:38
  you
• 40:39
  or
• 40:39
  something
• 40:40
  and
• 40:40
  you
• 40:41
  write
• 40:41
  a
• 40:41
  check
• 40:41
  to
• 40:41
  a
• 40:42
  different
• 40:42
  company
• 40:43
  or
• 40:44
  even
• 40:45
  worse,
• 40:45
  it's
• 40:46
  a
• 40:46
  company
• 40:46
  name
• 40:47
  that's
• 40:47
  similar.
• 40:48
  So
• 40:49
  great
• 40:50
  example,
• 40:51
  the
• 40:51
  business
• 40:51
  card.
• 40:52
  I'm
• 40:52
  going
• 40:52
  to
• 40:52
  make
• 40:52
  a
• 40:52
  name
• 40:52
  up
• 40:53
  here.
• 40:53
  So
• 40:53
  this
• 40:53
  is
• 40:53
  going
• 40:53
  to
• 40:53
  be
• 40:54
  super
• 40:54
  simple.
• 40:54
  If
• 40:54
  you
• 40:54
  have
• 40:54
  this
• 40:55
  name
• 40:55
  as
• 40:55
  your
• 40:55
  company,
• 40:55
  I'm
• 40:56
  not
• 40:56
  talking
• 40:56
  about
• 40:56
  you,
• 40:57
  I'm
• 40:57
  just
• 40:57
  talking
• 40:57
  about
• 40:58
  this.
• 40:58
  ABC
• 40:58
  Construction
• 40:59
  on
• 40:59
  the
• 40:59
  card,
• 41:00
  on
• 41:00
  the
• 41:00
  little
• 41:00
  magnet
• 41:01
  on
• 41:01
  the
• 41:01
  side
• 41:01
  of
• 41:01
  the
• 41:01
  truck
• 41:02
  shows
• 41:02
  up.
• 41:02
  Maybe
• 41:03
  not
• 41:03
  the
• 41:03
  cleanest
• 41:03
  truck,
• 41:03
  but
• 41:04
  it's
• 41:04
  what
• 41:04
  it
• 41:04
  is.
• 41:05
  And
• 41:05
  you
• 41:05
  go
• 41:05
  to,
• 41:05
  you
• 41:05
  have
• 41:06
  a
• 41:06
  contract.
• 41:06
  This
• 41:06
  is
• 41:06
  ABC
• 41:07
  Construction
• 41:07
  on
• 41:08
  it.
• 41:08
  They
• 41:08
  want
• 41:08
  you
• 41:08
  to
• 41:09
  write
• 41:09
  a
• 41:09
  check
• 41:09
  to
• 41:09
  ABC
• 41:10
  Contracting
• 41:11
  Solutions.
• 41:12
  Problem
• 41:12
  is,
• 41:13
  many
• 41:13
  times
• 41:13
  somebody
• 41:13
  can
• 41:14
  run
• 41:14
  down
• 41:14
  to
• 41:14
  that
• 41:14
  bank
• 41:15
  if
• 41:15
  they
• 41:15
  filled
• 41:16
  out
• 41:16
  some
• 41:16
  basic
• 41:16
  paperwork,
• 41:17
  open
• 41:17
  up
• 41:18
  a
• 41:18
  bank
• 41:18
  account
• 41:19
  with
• 41:19
  a
• 41:19
  similar
• 41:20
  name
• 41:20
  and
• 41:21
  you're
• 41:21
  in
• 41:21
  trouble
• 41:22
  because
• 41:22
  they're
• 41:22
  not
• 41:22
  licensed,
• 41:23
  bond
• 41:23
  and
• 41:23
  insured.
• 41:24
  The
• 41:24
  name
• 41:24
  that
• 41:25
  you're
• 41:25
  writing
• 41:25
  that
• 41:26
  check
• 41:26
  to
• 41:27
  needs
• 41:27
  to
• 41:27
  be
• 41:28
  the
• 41:28
  same
• 41:28
  company
• 41:28
  that's
• 41:29
  on
• 41:29
  the
• 41:29
  license,
• 41:30
  bond
• 41:31
  and
• 41:31
  insurance.
• 41:32
  And
• 41:32
  I
• 41:33
  have
• 41:33
  seen
• 41:33
  this
• 41:34
  so
• 41:35
  many
• 41:35
  times.
• 41:36
  I've
• 41:36
  seen
• 41:37
  contractors
• 41:37
  that
• 41:38
  are
• 41:38
  totally
• 41:38
  getting
• 41:38
  scammed
• 41:39
  and
• 41:39
  they
• 41:39
  have
• 41:39
  no
• 41:40
  idea.
• 41:41
  So
• 41:41
  if
• 41:41
  you've
• 41:41
  got
• 41:41
  somebody
• 41:42
  out
• 41:42
  there
• 41:42
  that's
• 41:42
  not
• 41:43
  the
• 41:43
  owner,
• 41:43
  that
• 41:44
  is
• 41:44
  a,
• 41:44
  quote,
• 41:45
  employee.
• 41:46
  Before
• 41:46
  you
• 41:46
  spend
• 41:47
  money,
• 41:48
  before
• 41:48
  you
• 41:48
  spend
• 41:48
  a
• 41:49
  ton
• 41:49
  of
• 41:49
  time,
• 41:49
  give
• 41:50
  them
• 41:50
  a
• 41:50
  call.
• 41:51
  Don't
• 41:51
  cough
• 41:51
  the
• 41:52
  business
• 41:52
  card.
• 41:52
  Jump
• 41:53
  online,
• 41:53
  take
• 41:54
  a
• 41:54
  look
• 41:54
  and
• 41:55
  do
• 41:55
  that.
• 41:55
  And
• 41:56
  then
• 41:56
  you're
• 41:56
  going
• 41:56
  to
• 41:56
  be
• 41:56
  good
• 41:57
  to
• 41:57
  go
• 41:57
  talk
• 41:58
  to
• 41:58
  the
• 41:58
  original
• 41:58
  business
• 41:59
  owner.
• 41:59
  Hey,
• 41:59
  is
• 42:00
  Mike
• 42:00
  Smith
• 42:01
  your
• 42:01
  employee?
• 42:02
  Yeah,
• 42:03
  he's
• 42:03
  our
• 42:03
  sales
• 42:03
  guy.
• 42:03
  Oh,
• 42:04
  perfect.
• 42:05
  So
• 42:05
  do
• 42:05
  you
• 42:05
  have
• 42:05
  my
• 42:05
  file
• 42:06
  there?
• 42:06
  Yeah.
• 42:06
  Oh,
• 42:07
  yeah,
• 42:07
  here
• 42:07
  it
• 42:07
  is
• 42:07
  right
• 42:08
  here.
• 42:08
  Okay.
• 42:08
  Now
• 42:09
  you're
• 42:09
  good
• 42:09
  as
• 42:09
  gold.
• 42:10
  But
• 42:10
  when
• 42:10
  in
• 42:10
  doubt,
• 42:11
  if
• 42:11
  you're
• 42:11
  doing
• 42:11
  an
• 42:12
  employee,
• 42:12
  feel
• 42:12
  free
• 42:13
  to
• 42:13
  call
• 42:13
  that
• 42:13
  business
• 42:13
  owner
• 42:14
  up.
• 42:14
  You
• 42:15
  can
• 42:15
  find
• 42:15
  it.
• 42:15
  It's
• 42:16
  always
• 42:16
  out
• 42:16
  there.
• 42:17
  People
• 42:17
  are
• 42:17
  marketing.
• 42:18
  It's
• 42:18
  what
• 42:18
  they're
• 42:18
  supposed
• 42:19
  to
• 42:19
  be
• 42:19
  doing.
• 42:19
  So
• 42:20
  that's
• 42:20
  the
• 42:20
  best
• 42:21
  way
• 42:21
  to
• 42:22
  track
• 42:22
  that
• 42:22
  down.
• 42:22
  Just
• 42:23
  close
• 42:24
  the
• 42:24
  loop
• 42:24
  to
• 42:24
  make
• 42:24
  sure
• 42:24
  that
• 42:25
  you're
• 42:25
  going
• 42:25
  to
• 42:25
  be
• 42:25
  good.
• 42:26
  That
• 42:26
  is
• 42:26
  key
• 42:26
  right
• 42:27
  there.
• 42:27
  Get
• 42:27
  you
• 42:28
  dialed
• 42:28
  in.
• 42:28
  You're
• 42:29
  not
• 42:29
  getting
• 42:29
  taken
• 42:29
  that
• 42:30
  way,
• 42:30
  because
• 42:30
  there's
• 42:30
  plenty
• 42:30
  of
• 42:31
  people
• 42:31
  out
• 42:31
  there
• 42:32
  that,
• 42:32
  that,
• 42:32
  that
• 42:33
  have
• 42:33
  that
• 42:33
  issue,
• 42:34
  and
• 42:34
  I
• 42:34
  want
• 42:34
  to
• 42:34
  make
• 42:34
  sure
• 42:34
  you're
• 42:35
  not
• 42:35
  one
• 42:35
  of
• 42:35
  them.
• 42:36
  You've
• 42:36
  got
• 42:36
  the
• 42:36
  right
• 42:37
  people
• 42:37
  coming
• 42:38
  out
• 42:38
  there.
• 42:39
  Now,
• 42:39
  I
• 42:39
  got
• 42:39
  a
• 42:39
  couple
• 42:40
  things
• 42:40
  out
• 42:40
  there
• 42:40
  here
• 42:40
  in
• 42:41
  my
• 42:41
  honorable
• 42:41
  mentions
• 42:42
  to
• 42:42
  be
• 42:42
  careful
• 42:42
  with.
• 42:43
  And
• 42:44
  these
• 42:44
  are
• 42:44
  the
• 42:45
  contractor
• 42:46
  lead
• 42:46
  services.
• 42:47
  What
• 42:47
  I
• 42:48
  mean
• 42:48
  by
• 42:48
  that
• 42:48
  is
• 42:48
  companies
• 42:49
  like
• 42:49
  Angie's
• 42:50
  List,
• 42:50
  some
• 42:51
  of
• 42:51
  those
• 42:51
  companies
• 42:51
  like
• 42:51
  that,
• 42:52
  lots
• 42:53
  of
• 42:53
  different
• 42:53
  lead
• 42:53
  service
• 42:54
  companies
• 42:54
  out
• 42:54
  there,
• 42:55
  hey,
• 42:55
  we'll
• 42:55
  get
• 42:55
  you
• 42:56
  five
• 42:56
  quotes
• 42:56
  or
• 42:56
  whatever
• 42:57
  else.
• 42:57
  Most
• 42:58
  of
• 42:58
  the
• 42:58
  time,
• 42:58
  these
• 42:59
  companies
• 43:00
  sell
• 43:00
  your
• 43:01
  information
• 43:02
  to
• 43:02
  contractors
• 43:03
  that
• 43:03
  are
• 43:03
  contracted
• 43:04
  through
• 43:04
  them.
• 43:05
  And
• 43:05
  now
• 43:05
  you
• 43:06
  get
• 43:06
  these
• 43:06
  people
• 43:07
  calling
• 43:07
  you.
• 43:08
  Now
• 43:09
  the
• 43:09
  problem
• 43:09
  is
• 43:10
  a
• 43:10
  lot
• 43:10
  of
• 43:10
  times
• 43:11
  some
• 43:11
  of
• 43:11
  these
• 43:11
  companies,
• 43:12
  and
• 43:12
  maybe
• 43:12
  not
• 43:12
  Angie's
• 43:13
  List,
• 43:13
  but
• 43:13
  some
• 43:13
  of
• 43:13
  these
• 43:13
  companies
• 43:14
  will
• 43:14
  sit
• 43:15
  there
• 43:15
  and
• 43:15
  say,
• 43:16
  okay,
• 43:16
  we'll
• 43:17
  have
• 43:17
  three
• 43:17
  people
• 43:17
  call
• 43:17
  you
• 43:18
  and
• 43:18
  you
• 43:18
  have
• 43:18
  10.
• 43:18
  Guess
• 43:19
  what?
• 43:19
  You
• 43:19
  had
• 43:19
  10
• 43:19
  because
• 43:20
  they
• 43:20
  sold
• 43:20
  it
• 43:20
  to
• 43:20
  10
• 43:21
  people.
• 43:21
  Now
• 43:22
  each
• 43:22
  one
• 43:22
  of
• 43:22
  those
• 43:22
  contractors
• 43:23
  thought
• 43:23
  there's
• 43:23
  only
• 43:23
  two
• 43:23
  people
• 43:24
  looking
• 43:24
  at
• 43:24
  it,
• 43:24
  but
• 43:25
  now
• 43:25
  there's
• 43:25
  10.
• 43:26
  And
• 43:27
  many
• 43:27
  times.
• 43:28
  And
• 43:29
  there
• 43:29
  are
• 43:29
  companies
• 43:30
  out
• 43:30
  there
• 43:30
  that
• 43:30
  are
• 43:30
  very
• 43:31
  good
• 43:31
  and
• 43:31
  very
• 43:32
  successful.
• 43:33
  But
• 43:33
  just
• 43:33
  like
• 43:33
  some
• 43:34
  of
• 43:34
  the
• 43:34
  companies
• 43:34
  that
• 43:34
  are
• 43:35
  working
• 43:35
  through
• 43:35
  the
• 43:35
  big
• 43:35
  box
• 43:36
  home
• 43:36
  centers,
• 43:37
  a
• 43:37
  lot
• 43:37
  of
• 43:37
  times
• 43:37
  they're
• 43:37
  the
• 43:38
  newer
• 43:38
  companies
• 43:39
  that
• 43:39
  are
• 43:40
  a
• 43:40
  little
• 43:40
  more
• 43:40
  risky
• 43:41
  for
• 43:41
  you.
• 43:41
  So
• 43:42
  the
• 43:42
  best
• 43:42
  thing
• 43:42
  you
• 43:42
  can
• 43:42
  do
• 43:43
  is
• 43:43
  to
• 43:43
  hire
• 43:43
  people
• 43:44
  that
• 43:44
  are
• 43:45
  referrals,
• 43:46
  friends,
• 43:46
  families.
• 43:47
  Head
• 43:48
  over
• 43:48
  to
• 43:48
  a
• 43:48
  buddy's
• 43:48
  house
• 43:49
  who
• 43:49
  did
• 43:49
  your
• 43:49
  bathroom
• 43:50
  model.
• 43:50
  That
• 43:50
  is
• 43:50
  gorgeous.
• 43:51
  Those
• 43:52
  are
• 43:52
  the
• 43:52
  kind
• 43:52
  of
• 43:52
  things
• 43:52
  that
• 43:53
  you
• 43:53
  want
• 43:53
  to
• 43:53
  work
• 43:53
  with.
• 43:54
  That's
• 43:54
  the
• 43:54
  stuff
• 43:55
  you
• 43:55
  want
• 43:55
  to
• 43:55
  pay
• 43:55
  attention
• 43:56
  to.
• 43:56
  That's
• 43:56
  the
• 43:57
  stuff
• 43:57
  that's
• 43:57
  going
• 43:57
  to
• 43:57
  look
• 43:57
  like
• 43:58
  money
• 43:58
  and
• 43:58
  you're
• 43:59
  going
• 43:59
  to
• 43:59
  be
• 43:59
  better
• 43:59
  protected
• 44:00
  because
• 44:00
  you've
• 44:00
  seen
• 44:00
  their
• 44:01
  work.
• 44:02
  Now
• 44:02
  when
• 44:02
  they
• 44:03
  get
• 44:03
  you
• 44:03
  on
• 44:03
  the
• 44:03
  referral
• 44:04
  side,
• 44:04
  referrals
• 44:05
  can
• 44:05
  be
• 44:05
  sketchy.
• 44:06
  Sometimes
• 44:06
  it's
• 44:06
  all
• 44:06
  their
• 44:07
  friends
• 44:07
  and
• 44:07
  neighbors,
• 44:08
  buddies,
• 44:09
  cousins.
• 44:10
  But
• 44:10
  if
• 44:10
  you're
• 44:10
  going
• 44:10
  to
• 44:10
  go
• 44:11
  down
• 44:11
  that
• 44:11
  list
• 44:11
  of
• 44:11
  calling
• 44:12
  all
• 44:12
  the
• 44:12
  referrals
• 44:12
  and
• 44:12
  doing
• 44:12
  it,
• 44:13
  which
• 44:13
  is
• 44:13
  pretty
• 44:14
  smart,
• 44:14
  the
• 44:15
  issue
• 44:15
  that
• 44:15
  I
• 44:15
  have
• 44:15
  is
• 44:15
  you
• 44:16
  need
• 44:16
  to
• 44:16
  make
• 44:16
  sure
• 44:16
  that
• 44:17
  when
• 44:17
  your
• 44:17
  project's
• 44:18
  done
• 44:18
  that
• 44:19
  you
• 44:19
  take
• 44:19
  a
• 44:19
  handful
• 44:19
  of
• 44:20
  phone
• 44:20
  calls
• 44:20
  and
• 44:20
  do
• 44:20
  your
• 44:21
  part
• 44:21
  in
• 44:21
  supporting
• 44:22
  that
• 44:22
  contractor
• 44:23
  to
• 44:23
  make
• 44:23
  sure
• 44:24
  you're
• 44:24
  their
• 44:24
  next
• 44:25
  referral
• 44:25
  and
• 44:25
  you're
• 44:26
  going
• 44:26
  to
• 44:26
  be
• 44:26
  good
• 44:26
  as
• 44:26
  gold.
• 44:27
  So
• 44:27
  that's
• 44:28
  some
• 44:28
  of
• 44:28
  the
• 44:28
  stuff
• 44:28
  that
• 44:28
  I
• 44:28
  want
• 44:29
  to
• 44:29
  make
• 44:29
  sure
• 44:29
  that
• 44:29
  you're
• 44:29
  doing.
• 44:30
  You're
• 44:30
  dialing
• 44:31
  in
• 44:32
  and
• 44:32
  you're
• 44:32
  protecting
• 44:33
  yourself
• 44:34
  on
• 44:34
  the
• 44:34
  next
• 44:34
  project.
• 44:35
  So
• 44:35
  this
• 44:35
  thing
• 44:36
  goes
• 44:36
  a
• 44:36
  lot
• 44:37
  more
• 44:37
  flawlessly
• 44:38
  and
• 44:38
  you're
• 44:39
  reducing
• 44:39
  your
• 44:39
  liability
• 44:40
  to
• 44:40
  people
• 44:40
  taking
• 44:41
  advantage.
• 44:42
  If
• 44:42
  you
• 44:42
  want
• 44:42
  to
• 44:42
  find
• 44:42
  out
• 44:43
  if
• 44:43
  you've
• 44:43
  got
• 44:43
  questions
• 44:44
  for
• 44:44
  me.
• 44:44
  Hit
• 44:45
  me
• 44:45
  up

  you
• 44:49

  This
• 45:00
  is

  not

• 45:00
  best
• 45:01
  of
• 45:01
  show
• 45:01
  today
• 45:01
  because
• 45:01
  I
• 45:02
  wanted
• 45:02
  to
• 45:02
  make
• 45:02
  sure
• 45:02
  we

  good
• 45:03
  information
• 45:03
  over
• 45:03
  the
• 45:03
  holidays
• 45:04
  when
• 45:04
  you're
• 45:05
  hanging
• 45:05
  out
• 45:05
  and
• 45:05
  enjoying

  yourself.
