- 0:01First Thessalonians chapter 2. Let us pray our Father our King
- 0:12and our Lord Adonai El Elian, the Most High God the Great.
- 0:21I am Lord Jesus Christ, high and lifted up.
- 0:29Holy Spirit, coming and dwell us, fill us.
- 0:33Holy Spirit, I pray that we will be filled overflowing.
- 0:41Lord, we pray in the mighty name of Jesus that you will help us
- 0:45to keep your name holy. Help us not to blasphemy your
- 0:49name. Help us not to take it lightly.
- 0:53God, I pray that we will have reverence for your holy name.
- 0:59It is the name that is above all names that we call upon.
- 1:04Yeshua, we thank you God for another day to come and to
- 1:10worship you in spirit and truth. We thank you, God, that you are
- 1:16here in our midst. Lord, we thank you that you are
- 1:19moving mightily. We thank you, God, for the
- 1:22prophetic timeline that is happening all around us.
- 1:26God, we fix our eyes upon your timepiece, Israel, we see you
- 1:32moving mightily in this world, in this global world.
- 1:38Father, we see that you're moving mightily, God, and we get
- 1:43out of our own understanding. We get out of our own morality,
- 1:47God. We get out of our own limited
- 1:49intellect, God, and we lay prostate God, knowing that we
- 1:54serve the God of the universe, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and
- 2:00Jacob. We pray for the peace of
- 2:02Jerusalem. God, we pray that you will be
- 2:07magnified and glorified throughout all generations.
- 2:11God, that your word will never return void, and God, you will
- 2:15not be mocked. And so, Lord God Almighty, bring
- 2:19your will and your Kingdom to this earth just as it is there
- 2:24in heaven. God, I pray for daily bread
- 2:27today. Lord, I pray in the name of
- 2:29Jesus that we can feast upon your flesh.
- 2:34God, I pray in the name of Jesus that we can drink the blood of
- 2:38your sacrifice. Lord, I pray that it'll be
- 2:42Christ's blood that covers us from the top of our heads to the
- 2:46bottom of our feet, that we can stand in your presence, God, and
- 2:51be holy because you are holy. We thank you that you have made
- 2:55us at one with you. We thank you that you have
- 2:59justified us God and that you have completely did away as far
- 3:05as the east is to the West. You have completely done away
- 3:09with every single sin that we have ever committed, are
- 3:13committing or will ever commit and God, we do not abuse grace
- 3:18today. Lord, we want to be obedient
- 3:22children. We have the faith of a little
- 3:26child. God, we believe that you are.
- 3:28We believe that the Bible is the inerrant, infallible word.
- 3:33God, the complete authority for our lives and for all people
- 3:39groups on every continent, in every nation, and every tongue.
- 3:45Friends, I pray in the name of Jesus God Almighty, that you,
- 3:50Lord, will come and get your glory.
- 3:53Father, forgive us for all the times that we made it about self
- 3:57and made it about sin and made it about pleasure and made it
- 4:01all about this world. God forgive us and help us to
- 4:06extend forgiveness out to every single person who has ever
- 4:10wronged us or will wronged us. Help us not to find our identity
- 4:15in the unforgiveness. Help us not to find our identity
- 4:20and all the wrongs that have been done to us.
- 4:22But God, let us come up to a higher spiritual plane with you.
- 4:26God, we want to see your glory, Father Shekinah, glory shining
- 4:31all around us. Father, I pray for the sea of
- 4:35glass mingled with fire, the rainbow all around you, the
- 4:39throne, and we cast our crowns, Father, for you are worthy, you
- 4:44are holy and you are lovely. You're the King of kings and the
- 4:48Lord of Lords. And we cry out.
- 4:50Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty who was and is and is
- 4:58to come. Lord, I pray that you'll keep us
- 5:04from the accuser of the brethren.
- 5:06God, keep us from the lies and the pitfalls and the snares of
- 5:12the adversary. God, I pray that we can be
- 5:17enveloped with your protection. Form a hedge of protection
- 5:21around us. God, I pray against all the
- 5:24schemes and the Wiles of the enemy.
- 5:29Lord, I pray that we can be victorious by putting on the
- 5:33full armor today. God, let us exude all the fruits
- 5:37of the Spirit, for yours is the Kingdom and the power and the
- 5:49glory forever and ever, and it's in Jesus Christ.
- 5:55Holy perfect precious name that I pray, Amen.
- 6:02Let's start in verse one for yourselves.
- 6:08Brothers, know our entrance in unto you that it was not in
- 6:14vain. So Paul saying that all of the
- 6:18things that we established there amongst you, it was not in vain.
- 6:24You have been established. You are the crown that we wear
- 6:27on our head because the Holy Spirit has come in and the Holy
- 6:32Spirit has wrecked you, and the Holy Spirit has gotten a hold of
- 6:36you. And you can see the fruits of
- 6:40Paul's work. And it was not in vain.
- 6:43And Paul is stirring their minds to the remembrance of when he
- 6:47was with them and all the things that he told them.
- 6:51And he's saying, go ahead and walk accordingly to all the
- 6:56truth that you have been given two.
- 7:01But even after that we had suffered before and were
- 7:06shamefully entreated. As you know, at Philippi we were
- 7:12bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much
- 7:19contention. So Paul here saying that even
- 7:23though they were facing all the persecution, they were being run
- 7:26out of towns, they were being whipped and beaten, it did not
- 7:31stop them from preaching the truth to this church here in
- 7:37Thessalonica. Paul had counted the cost and he
- 7:41had found Jesus Christ to be worthy.
- 7:45He had found that all of the scriptures that he had studied,
- 7:49when he was the Pharisee of the Pharisee, a Hebrew of Hebrews,
- 7:52they all pointed to Yeshua. And now he is able to stand in
- 8:00the face of all of the persecution and all of the
- 8:08brutal actions against him. And he did it willingly and he
- 8:16did it lovingly. And he wanted the church here to
- 8:20know that they were founded upon the stripes that were on his
- 8:25back, the 39 lashes 3 times that he had suffered.
- 8:30And he wanted them to know that they were able to withstand all
- 8:37the things that this wicked, perverse world would throw at
- 8:41them. Because Jesus is worthy and we
- 8:44count the cost before we ever put our hand to the plow, and we
- 8:48take up our cross daily and follow Him. 3-4 hour exhortation
- 8:57was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile.
- 9:03So Paul was saying we did not manipulate you, we did not come
- 9:08to you, and we were not trying to get something out of you.
- 9:12We came with the purity of heart.
- 9:15We came preaching to you the truth.
- 9:19We were not coming to you and we were not trying to deceive you.
- 9:23We were not coming trying to get something from you, but we were
- 9:27coming giving and giving and giving.
- 9:31And that is the true heart of a minister.
- 9:34It is not somebody who does it to get something back.
- 9:38They do it because it it is their reasonable service.
- 9:42It is what is expected of them because of all of what they have
- 9:47received. Freely you have received and
- 9:50freely you shall give. Friends.
- 9:53We don't do it to get, we do it because of the gravity and the
- 9:59magnitude of the sins that we have been forgiven of.
- 10:03And it is available to every man, woman, and child, if they
- 10:07will come to Jesus Christ honestly, if they will come to
- 10:11Him and completely spill themselves out and be filled
- 10:16with Him. 4 But as we were allowed of God to be put in
- 10:27trust with the gospel, Even so we speak not as pleasing men,
- 10:34but God, which tries our hearts. So God had deposited into Paul
- 10:43all of the truth for the church, and it was not revealed to men
- 10:49prior. And so it was only alluded to
- 10:52once whenever Jesus Christ told Peter that he would build his
- 10:58church on him. And then all of the church
- 11:02doctrines were entrusted to Paul.
- 11:05And here Paul is alluding to the good news of the Lord Jesus
- 11:11Christ for all men, and he did not care what men thought about
- 11:16him. He was only there speaking for
- 11:20God Almighty. If we will bow down to God and
- 11:24only please God, then we care not for all of the naysayers and
- 11:30all the negative and all of those in the world who tried
- 11:34desperately to cover their tracks.
- 11:38And they don't want to have conviction friends.
- 11:40And they try to explain the world as being billions of years
- 11:45old. And they're trying to explain
- 11:47how people can live apart from a theist and how we need to get
- 11:54rid of the religion because it's caused all of these wars.
- 12:00And it's all of the problems that are in the world are
- 12:03because of religion. And it is only because they want
- 12:07to escape from the conviction that they have.
- 12:10And Paul saying we care not for what man says.
- 12:14We only care about what God thinks.
- 12:17And who should we obey, man or God?
- 12:20And it is always God that we obey, and he tries our hearts.
- 12:27God does not try us to see what we will do.
- 12:31God tries us so that we will see what we will do. 5 For neither
- 12:38at any time used we flattering words, as you know, nor cloak of
- 12:44covetousness. God is witness.
- 12:47Paul is saying, God is my witness that we came with pure
- 12:52motives. We did not come trying to get
- 12:55something from you. We did not come trying to get
- 12:58money from you or trying to usurp authority over you.
- 13:02We came for the pure, unadulterated, unwatered down
- 13:09good news of our Lord Jesus Christ, and we preached it
- 13:14unashamedly. We did not try to preach a
- 13:19message that was popular among the masses.
- 13:22We only spoke what was given to us.
- 13:25And that is the admonition that we have friends, is we preach
- 13:29the entirety of God's word, nothing added and nothing
- 13:32subtracted, regardless of what kind of soil it falls on. 6 Nor
- 13:41of men sought. We glory neither of you nor yet
- 13:47of others when we might have been burdensome as the apostles
- 13:52of Christ. So what is he saying here,
- 13:55friends? Paul is saying we did not come
- 13:58and lay a heavy burden on you. We did not come demanding that
- 14:02you give us money. We did not come.
- 14:04We gave up all the rights to be supported because all we wanted
- 14:10to do was give you the free good news of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- 14:16And we were going to paint the picture of how all the Old
- 14:20Testament pointed to Jesus Christ.
- 14:23And Jesus is the culmination of all creation.
- 14:27He is the highest and the loftiest entity.
- 14:32He is God the Son. And Paul saying we did not seek
- 14:40our own glory. We did not be a We were not a
- 14:44burden to you. We were the true ambassadors and
- 14:49messengers of Jesus Christ. 7 But we were gentle among you.
- 14:55Even as a nurse cherishes her children.
- 14:59So he's saying the affection that a mother has for her
- 15:03children as she nurses them. Paul came in that way.
- 15:09He only wanted them to grow and to mature.
- 15:15Not only did He birth them, but He nursed them and He wanted
- 15:18them to mature in their faith. And He gave them all of the
- 15:23things that they needed to finish the race well.
- 15:26And we have the finished complete authority available to
- 15:31us from Genesis to Revelation, nothing added and nothing
- 15:35subtracted. And Paul is saying that we need
- 15:39to get off of the spiritual milk, and we need to get on the
- 15:42spiritual meat, and we are waiting to be taught when we
- 15:46ourselves should be teaching. A So being affectionately
- 15:53desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you not
- 15:58the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because you were
- 16:03dear unto us. Paul was saying I was willing to
- 16:06lay down my own life for you, not just for the sake of your
- 16:13eternity, but because love has no greater than for a man to lay
- 16:18down his life for his brothers. And Paul understood this and
- 16:22Paul was willing to be spilled out for them.
- 16:25He says to live is Christ and to die is gain 9 for you.
- 16:33Remember, brothers, our labor and travail for laboring night
- 16:39and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you.
- 16:44We preached unto you the gospel of God.
- 16:46He said we did it free of charge.
- 16:48We woke up before the sun came up and we gave ourselves over to
- 16:54prayer, to fasting, to teaching the Word accurately before we
- 16:59ever went to our nine to five, before we ever went to build
- 17:03tents and support ourselves in the ministry. 10 You are
- 17:10witnesses, and God also how holy and justly and unblameably we
- 17:18behaved ourselves among you that believe.
- 17:21Paul says you can lay no charge against us.
- 17:24We did not come to you trying to get money from you.
- 17:27We did not come to you, and we were not a burden to you.
- 17:31We came to you and freely we gave because freely we had
- 17:36received. God is our witness. 11 as you
- 17:44know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one
- 17:50of you as a father does his children.
- 17:53This is the discipline, friends, and we need to understand that
- 17:56God disciplines those that He loves.
- 18:00It is a sign of hatred if we do hold back the discipline that a
- 18:08child needs. If we refuse to father our
- 18:14children, it is a sign of hatred.
- 18:17It is not doing right by them. We need to be those who are
- 18:24speaking truth in love. We need to be those that are
- 18:29disciplining our bodies, disciplining our families, and
- 18:34allowing God to discipline us and putting ourselves under the
- 18:39authority of those that we can trust that are accurately
- 18:42following after Jesus Christ and have been following after Him
- 18:46longer than we have to teach us these spiritual lessons.
- 18:50Friends, how much damage we do by becoming offended and falling
- 18:57away because of the discipline that we receive. 12 that you
- 19:03would walk worthy of God, who has called you unto his Kingdom
- 19:09and glory. Think about it friends, if you
- 19:12could even grasp what we have in Christ Jesus, not only for the
- 19:19here and the now, but for what is in the next to come.
- 19:23And we're closer today than we were yesterday.
- 19:26And His mercies are new every day.
- 19:28But we need to walk worthy of our high position in Christ
- 19:34Jesus. We are Saints and we are
- 19:38ministers of reconciliation and we are greater than any of the
- 19:43ones born of woman because we have the indwelling of the Holy
- 19:47Spirit inside of us and we need to walk accordingly.
- 19:51We do not need to walk as victims.
- 19:55We do not need to walk as little children.
- 19:58We not do not need to behave like animals.
- 20:01And we do not need to become effeminate friends.
- 20:06We are men and we need to rise up.
- 20:09And it's high time to walk in the accordance with our high
- 20:14position in Christ Jesus as his ministers. 13 For this cause
- 20:23also we thank God without ceasing, because when you
- 20:29received the word of God which you heard of us, you received it
- 20:33not as the word of men, but as it is in truth the Word of God,
- 20:40which effectually works also in you that believe.
- 20:45If you will take God at His Word, if you will not call any
- 20:50of it into question, not one jot, not once, not one title.
- 20:55Friends, then God will be well pleased to pour out His Spirit
- 20:59in you, and to reveal deep things to you.
- 21:02God will be well pleased to show you His presence day in and day
- 21:07out, and you can walk in the Spirit and not satisfy the lust
- 21:10of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life
- 21:14which are not from God. Friends, we need to know that we
- 21:18we know that we know that we know that God's word is
- 21:21infallible and inerrant and it has not been written by man.
- 21:26It is God's Rhema, his spoken word.
- 21:29It is breath on pages. It is alive and active and
- 21:35sharper than any 2 edged sword. 14-4 You brothers became
- 21:44followers of the churches of God, which in Judea are in
- 21:50Christ Jesus. For you also have suffered like
- 21:55things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews.
- 22:01So here he is alluding to the persecution that the church
- 22:06there at Thessalonica had been given by even the Jews in the
- 22:12synagogue because they were preaching that this Jewish
- 22:18carpenter's son, this rogue St. preacher, was God Almighty,
- 22:24which is offensive to the Jewish religion.
- 22:30And they are still waiting on a Messiah, but they need not wait
- 22:34on another, for their Messiah has already came.
- 22:37And the seven-year tribulation will be the time when the Jewish
- 22:41nation put their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, 15 who both
- 22:49killed the Lord Jesus and their own prophets and have persecuted
- 22:55us. And they please not God and are
- 22:58contrary to all men. So he's talking about the
- 23:01Sanhedrin. He's talking about the Pharisees
- 23:04and the Sadducees. He's talking about those who
- 23:07gave Jesus over to the Roman authorities of Pontius Pilate to
- 23:13have him brutally murdered and hung on a criminal's cross.
- 23:17But three days he resurrected, and he is seated at the right
- 23:21hand of God today. And Paul is telling this church
- 23:25in Thessalonica that they do not need to be fearful of the Jews.
- 23:3416 forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be
- 23:38saved to fill up their sins all way, for the wrath has come upon
- 23:44them to the uttermost. So we know in a short time from
- 23:49this letter being written, God is going to tear down the temple
- 23:53in AD 70 a very short amount of time.
- 23:57He's going to end all the sacrifices because the all
- 24:01sufficient sacrifice was already made.
- 24:04The spotless, blameless Lamb of God had hung on the cross and
- 24:10atoned for all the sins of humanity, past, present, and
- 24:14future friends. And Paul here is alluding that
- 24:18they have heaped upon themselves judgment after judgment, and God
- 24:24can use these things without excusing these things to the
- 24:34uttermost. 17 But we brothers, being taken from you for a short
- 24:40time in presence, not in heart, endeavored the more abundantly
- 24:45to see your face with a great desire.
- 24:48Paul is saying, We are of 1 accord, 1 mind of 1 Spirit, the
- 24:52mind of Christ. Even though we are not with you
- 24:55physically, we are with you spiritually. 18 Wherefore we
- 25:03would have come unto you, even I Paul once and again, but Satan
- 25:09hindered us. What the enemy meant for evil,
- 25:12God is using for great good. When Paul was hindered in
- 25:16travelling, he sat down and penned this letter.
- 25:20And if all of the demonic haunts and the demonic host would have
- 25:25known what would come of hindering Paul, they never would
- 25:29have let it happen. As we are edified and built up
- 25:33by all these inspired, God breathed letters that Paul wrote
- 25:39to the churches and that have been preserved through the ages
- 25:43for us today. 19 For what is our hope or joy or crown of
- 25:52rejoicing? Are not even you in the presence
- 25:57of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?
- 26:01So Paul here is alluding that the churches that he established
- 26:05are the confirmation of the Holy Spirit working mightily in the
- 26:10world. We'll end on. 24 You are our
- 26:16glory and joy. Paul gives us a very deep
- 26:23theological substance here when he says that all of the converts
- 26:28that are made are the confirmation of the minister's
- 26:33anointing. What an amazing chapter we have
- 26:37here. I
- 26:49hope you've been blessed by this chapter.
- 26:52I know, I sure have. I love you, I'm praying for you.
- 27:09God bless you. Stay prayed up today.
- 27:14Put on the full armor today. Be fruitful, but you do not know
- 27:22the hour when the Son of Man will return.
- 27:29God bless you. We'll see you back here
- 27:30tomorrow.
