- 0:00Speaker 1: Confidence is something that I work on every single day.
- 0:02Speaker 1: My Self talk is something I work on every single
- 0:04Speaker 1: day because I want to be unconditional in myself, you know,
- 0:07Speaker 1: always within, not coming from without.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Hey Hurdler's Emily Abadi here bringing you Episode one hundred
- 0:26Speaker 2: and seventeen of Hurdle, a wellness focused podcast where I
- 0:29Speaker 2: sit down with inspiring individuals to talk about everything from
- 0:33Speaker 2: their big ones to how they've gotten through some of
- 0:35Speaker 2: life's toughest moments. On the show, you can expect a vulnerability, motivation,
- 0:40Speaker 2: and candid discussions with everyone from top athletes to aspiring
- 0:45Speaker 2: entrepreneurs on what it really takes to follow your passions.
- 0:48Speaker 3: My mission is simple to.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Inspire you to be your best self, move with intention,
- 0:55Speaker 2: and have some fun along the way. Today I am
- 0:59Speaker 2: bringing you my conversation with Carrie A.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Walsh Jennings.
- 1:04Speaker 2: She is an American professional beach volleyball player, three time
- 1:07Speaker 2: Olympic gold medalist and one time Olympic bronze medalist, And honestly,
- 1:13Speaker 2: I grew up following Carrie and it was like she
- 1:16Speaker 2: was the example of female strength and athleticism and just
- 1:22Speaker 2: an all around boss, a household name in sports. So
- 1:28Speaker 2: I say this to her when we start chatting today.
- 1:30Speaker 2: She has been someone I've wanted to chat with for
- 1:32Speaker 2: quite some time now, and the opportunity came my way
- 1:36Speaker 2: thanks to one of her sponsors, the California Almond Board. Now,
- 1:40Speaker 2: on that note, I do want to take a second
- 1:41Speaker 2: just to talk about the sponsorship side of things, so
- 1:44Speaker 2: to speak. I know sometimes it can feel a little
- 1:46Speaker 2: bit wonky when you hear buzzwords or messaging, but these
- 1:50Speaker 2: sponsors and power people like Carrie like me to do
- 1:55Speaker 2: what we want to do. And I can speak from
- 1:58Speaker 2: my side of things with companies like the ones that
- 2:00Speaker 2: you'll hear from today Athletic Greens and Beam. These are
- 2:03Speaker 2: companies that I use their products on the regular. I
- 2:07Speaker 2: truly believe in what they have to offer, and it's
- 2:11Speaker 2: kind of a symbiotic relationship and that they also believe
- 2:15Speaker 2: in what I'm putting into the world. They believe in
- 2:17Speaker 2: who I am as an individual, and together we can
- 2:20Speaker 2: do some really great stuff. So, of course, when the
- 2:23Speaker 2: Almond Board approached me about the opportunity to chat with
- 2:27Speaker 2: Carrie for Hurdle, it was an absolute no brainer for me,
- 2:31Speaker 2: and it's clear to me from our conversation that she
- 2:33Speaker 2: appreciates them just as much as they appreciate her. A
- 2:37Speaker 2: little insight as to what Carrie and I talk about today.
- 2:40Speaker 2: We talk about her growing up in Santa Clara. She
- 2:43Speaker 2: talks to me about her journey through the sport, playing
- 2:46Speaker 2: in college, going pro, and we cover not just the
- 2:49Speaker 2: highlights of her career like those gold medals, but also
- 2:53Speaker 2: the hard times.
- 2:54Speaker 3: We also reference quite a bit Michael Gervai.
- 2:57Speaker 2: He is a performance psychologist, someone that works with some
- 3:00Speaker 2: of the best of the best, not just athletes, but
- 3:02Speaker 2: top CEOs, etc. And God are the takeaways and the
- 3:07Speaker 2: nuggets and the pull quotes from Carrie about doing the
- 3:11Speaker 2: work in your strength, self confidence, coming back from failure.
- 3:14Speaker 3: They're all in there, and they're all the kind of.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Stuff that's really going to motivate you while you're listening
- 3:19Speaker 2: to be your best self and walk away from this
- 3:22Speaker 2: episode with a ton of inspiration. Before we get into
- 3:24Speaker 2: the swing of things today, I do want to take
- 3:27Speaker 2: the time to shout out my sponsors. First up, Athletic Greens.
- 3:31Speaker 2: A lot of you have been tagging me in your
- 3:33Speaker 2: Athletic Greens packages and shake your bottles lately, and I
- 3:36Speaker 2: am all about it. The Greens powder has the anti
- 3:39Speaker 2: accident equivalent to twelve servings of fruits and vegetables. It's
- 3:42Speaker 2: also got prebiotics, probiotics, adaptagens, and superfoods. One of the
- 3:47Speaker 2: questions I get often is when do you consume your age?
- 3:50Speaker 2: A lot of people I know, they do it literally
- 3:52Speaker 2: first thing in the morning. You roll out of bed,
- 3:55Speaker 2: use the bathroom, you walk into the kitchen, you shake
- 3:58Speaker 2: up your athletic greens.
- 3:59Speaker 3: For me, I'm a get up workout.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Then have my athletic greens sort of gal this way,
- 4:05Speaker 2: it's not switching around in my stomach, and it's kind
- 4:07Speaker 2: of like my reward for myself, like job well done.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Now it's really time to start the day. And let's
- 4:14Speaker 2: be real, Not every single day is the picture perfect
- 4:17Speaker 2: example of healthy eating and habits. But for me with
- 4:22Speaker 2: that morning movement, with my morning shiker bottle of athletic Greens,
- 4:25Speaker 2: I know that I'm doing something could for my body

- 5:12Speaker 2: I mix it with almond milk and it tastes like
- 5:14Speaker 2: a sweet, hot chocolate.
- 5:16Speaker 3: But it's even better because I know that it's gonna
- 5:18Speaker 3: help me sleep through the night.

- 6:25Speaker 2: what's going on in our country more than ever, to
- 6:27Speaker 2: support one another, to show up for one another, and
- 6:29Speaker 2: that has always been my goal here with the hurdle community,
- 6:33Speaker 2: at Emily Abodi and at Hurdle podcast on social and
- 6:37Speaker 2: if you have a hurdle moment of your own to
- 6:39Speaker 2: share where you just want to say hi, I'm always
- 6:41Speaker 2: an email away, It's Emily at hurdle dot us.
- 6:44Speaker 3: With that, let's get to hurdling today.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I am sitting down with Carrie Wall Jennings. She needs
- 7:01Speaker 2: no introduction if you ask me, but obviously an American
- 7:05Speaker 2: professional beach volleyball player, a multi time Olympic gold medalist
- 7:10Speaker 2: and Olympic bronze medalist. I mean, the accolades are endless,
- 7:16Speaker 2: of course. Well, fun fact, Carrie, you were on my
- 7:20Speaker 2: original what I refer to as my dream guest list,
- 7:26Speaker 2: and so I'm am to be talking with you today
- 7:28Speaker 2: and I'm going to start us off with a fun question.
- 7:32Speaker 2: I once heard you say that you practice and prepare
- 7:36Speaker 2: for every single situation so that when you get on
- 7:38Speaker 2: the court, you're ready. And I bring that up now
- 7:41Speaker 2: because obviously with a pandemic, there's been a lot of
- 7:45Speaker 2: things that we have not been able to prepare for
- 7:48Speaker 2: as a nation. So what have you been doing to
- 7:51Speaker 2: kind of show up and handle these unforeseen times?
- 7:56Speaker 3: Emily?
- 7:56Speaker 1: Such a good question, And yeah, it's just a gnarly
- 7:59Speaker 1: rollercoaster of a time, so emotional, so so exciting. You know.
- 8:03Speaker 1: I think through chaos, ideally better structures and change, positive
- 8:07Speaker 1: change comes, and with a pandemic it's just sad. Yet
- 8:11Speaker 1: there's a lot of healing going on as well. And
- 8:13Speaker 1: you know, the really wonderful realization for me is that
- 8:17Speaker 1: the way I've trained myself as an athlete and the
- 8:20Speaker 1: way I was raised as a human and by nature
- 8:22Speaker 1: as well, Like faith is very prominent in my life.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Personal accountability and responsibility is very very present in my
- 8:29Speaker 1: life every single day on and off the court. And
- 8:33Speaker 1: I am looking at this challenging time as a way
- 8:36Speaker 1: for me to show up and to set the tone
- 8:39Speaker 1: for how I show up in really challenging hard times.
- 8:42Speaker 1: You know, I'm a mother now, I have three kids eleven, ten,
- 8:45Speaker 1: and seven, and I cannot, you know, be crazy every
- 8:49Speaker 1: day and be an emotional rollercoaster. And so what I'm
- 8:52Speaker 1: doing is I'm acting as if I chose this. And
- 8:55Speaker 1: I really appreciate that line of thinking, because if you
- 8:57Speaker 1: act like you chose it, you take responsibility for how
- 8:59Speaker 1: you show up and situation good or bad, and then
- 9:02Speaker 1: you have the power to control it, you know, to
- 9:05Speaker 1: show up in the way you want. Whereas I think
- 9:07Speaker 1: a lot of people, and I'm seeing this with my family,
- 9:10Speaker 1: with my friends, a lot of people are feeling victimized
- 9:12Speaker 1: by this, totally understandably. You know, it showed up out
- 9:15Speaker 1: of nowhere, and it took away our Olympics, It took
- 9:18Speaker 1: away our school or prom or weddings like so many
- 9:20Speaker 1: amazing things, and their heartbroken by it, and they're kind
- 9:25Speaker 1: of on the defense. And so what I like to
- 9:26Speaker 1: do is to be on the offense, to be really proactive,
- 9:29Speaker 1: and to choose how I'm going to show up in
- 9:31Speaker 1: my days. And I really appreciate my upbringing and my
- 9:35Speaker 1: life as an athlete because it's trained me to deal
- 9:37Speaker 1: with uncomfortable situations and it's trained me to focus on
- 9:40Speaker 1: what I can control.
- 9:41Speaker 2: This truly sounds like spoken from an athlete who has
- 9:46Speaker 2: taken some time to think about the mental side of things.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Are you still working with Michael Jervais.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I love him. That man is a world changer
- 9:55Speaker 1: one by you know, well, now he's scaling because he's able,
- 9:57Speaker 1: you know, thank goodness for all this technology. But he's
- 10:00Speaker 1: changed my life, my marriage, myself, my soul.
- 10:03Speaker 3: He's incredible.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Reflecting on your time working with Michael Gervais, would you
- 10:09Speaker 2: say that there's been any like absolutely breakthrough moment that
- 10:13Speaker 2: literally changed everything for you?
- 10:15Speaker 1: Gosh, Emily, I mean, there's just so there's so much
- 10:19Speaker 1: with him, and like with all good teachers and guides,
- 10:22Speaker 1: he just keeps guiding me deeper and deeper into myself,
- 10:25Speaker 1: you know, like, I feel very deeply, I think very deeply.
- 10:30Speaker 1: But he makes me articulate very deeply. And when you
- 10:33Speaker 1: when you talk about hard conversations, you know, usually we
- 10:36Speaker 1: have kind of our patent answers, and then he'll go
- 10:38Speaker 1: one under that and then one under that. I'm like,
- 10:40Speaker 1: oh my hell, I don't even have words for these
- 10:42Speaker 1: things I'm feeling. But he kind of sits with you
- 10:44Speaker 1: in silence, without judgment, and he does that, so he's
- 10:47Speaker 1: he's really shown me the power of listening because he
- 10:50Speaker 1: is an amazing listener, the power of self awareness because
- 10:55Speaker 1: he like, you know, you show up and you're like
- 10:58Speaker 1: ready to get deep, right, and you're talking about things
- 11:01Speaker 1: that either you have resentment about or fear about or doubt,
- 11:04Speaker 1: and he talks to you about it in such a
- 11:06Speaker 1: gentle way. But then he's like he checks in with
- 11:09Speaker 1: my body, like where do you feel that emotion? And
- 11:11Speaker 1: label that emotion? You know, and self awareness, Emily is
- 11:14Speaker 1: a superpower. Like if you can train yourself to be
- 11:17Speaker 1: self aware, like gosh, my mind is racing right now.
- 11:24Speaker 1: You know, I'm going to take a deep breath or
- 11:26Speaker 1: you know, I'm sweating right now, Like what's behind this?
- 11:30Speaker 1: Like the ability to stop and like take kind of
- 11:33Speaker 1: stock of how you feel. It just allows you to
- 11:36Speaker 1: reset and move forward powerfully. And Gervais has given me
- 11:38Speaker 1: that in Leaps and Bounds, and he's also taught me
- 11:41Speaker 1: that confidence comes from one place and one place only,
- 11:44Speaker 1: and it's literally the way I speak to myself. My
- 11:46Speaker 1: self talk dictates the way I show up in the world,
- 11:49Speaker 1: because Emily doesn't matter if you think I'm rad, It
- 11:51Speaker 1: doesn't matter if my family thinks I'm amazing and smart
- 11:53Speaker 1: and beautiful, or my husband or the fans, like, all
- 11:56Speaker 1: of that stuff is outside of me. And if it's
- 11:58Speaker 1: outside of me, that means the sense stable because those people,
- 12:01Speaker 1: those things, those situations have to be perfect and there
- 12:03Speaker 1: every time for me to like get the benefits of
- 12:06Speaker 1: them loving me and supporting me. But when they're not there,
- 12:09Speaker 1: if I'm relying on that, it's just I'm in shambles.
- 12:12Speaker 1: And so self confidence is something that I work on
- 12:14Speaker 1: every single day. My Self talk is something I work
- 12:16Speaker 1: on every single day because I want to be unconditional
- 12:19Speaker 1: in myself, you know, always within, not coming from without.
- 12:22Speaker 2: For those of you who might not know Michael Gervais,
- 12:25Speaker 2: he's a high performance psychologist. He works with a ton
- 12:28Speaker 2: of athletes, fortune one hundred CEOs, the whole gamut. Such
- 12:32Speaker 2: an interesting and brilliant guy. What I'd love to dive
- 12:35Speaker 2: into a little bit now, of course, is, as you mentioned,
- 12:38Speaker 2: the Olympics have been pushed back, So I'd love to
- 12:42Speaker 2: hear about what your routine looks like now with this shift.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Yeah. Well again, thank goodness, I've been trained to be
- 12:50Speaker 1: nimble and adaptive and you know, have a healthy lifestyle.
- 12:54Speaker 1: I mean, like so many my world, my schedule just
- 12:58Speaker 1: shut down, you know, and I'm a very scheduled person,
- 13:01Speaker 1: and so it was just so gnarly to have, you know,
- 13:04Speaker 1: to go from training, you know, three trainings a day,
- 13:07Speaker 1: six hours a day to nothing for a while, and
- 13:09Speaker 1: to have all my tournaments counseled, all these things. So
- 13:12Speaker 1: it took me a while to figure out my schedule
- 13:14Speaker 1: and to figure out that I needed a schedule. And now,
- 13:17Speaker 1: you know, Emily, I'm just I'm doing the same things.
- 13:20Speaker 1: It's just a little with a little bit different intent.
- 13:22Speaker 1: So movement is hugely important, and every single day meditation
- 13:25Speaker 1: is huguely important, and every single day my health and
- 13:29Speaker 1: nutrition habits are just off the charts because with this pandemic,
- 13:33Speaker 1: with this virus, Like, I don't want to wait for
- 13:36Speaker 1: a vaccine, you know, I don't. I don't want to
- 13:38Speaker 1: wait for an authority to say, okay, now you're safe again.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Like I believe it's my job to support my immune system,
- 13:43Speaker 1: you know, so I can fend off these things. So
- 13:45Speaker 1: there's a huge focus on great nutrition. And that's why
- 13:48Speaker 1: I'm really proud to be talking to you today. Almond
- 13:50Speaker 1: Board my partner with California Almonds. They set this up,
- 13:53Speaker 1: and you know, it's just so important to fuel yourself
- 13:56Speaker 1: with beautiful, real food. And my partnership with California Almonds
- 14:01Speaker 1: allows me to like get on my platform and be
- 14:04Speaker 1: like you guys, we can live healthy lives. We can
- 14:06Speaker 1: we can feel good in our bodies. We can literally
- 14:09Speaker 1: ward off disease and virus if we choose the right foods.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Foods are medicine, and so my snacking and my you know,
- 14:17Speaker 1: my eating in general. I really had to figure out
- 14:20Speaker 1: the right balance between. I had to I had to
- 14:23Speaker 1: get more disciplined. I was snacking constantly the first two weeks,
- 14:26Speaker 1: and it was so frustrating. The goodness I reached for
- 14:28Speaker 1: healthy things like almonds, you know. So it just reminded
- 14:32Speaker 1: me that I am what I'm surrounded by. I need
- 14:34Speaker 1: to be really mindful when to go to the grocery
- 14:35Speaker 1: shore when I stop, because I don't want to have
- 14:37Speaker 1: the crap around because I'm going to reach for it,
- 14:39Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, So mindfulness is huge, nutrition is huge,
- 14:44Speaker 1: Sleeping is huge. Connecting with my people, you know, I
- 14:47Speaker 1: think a lot of people are feeling really lonely and
- 14:49Speaker 1: they miss their people. Like Thank goodness, I have a
- 14:51Speaker 1: family of five, and we all really sincerely like each other.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Otherwise this would be really, really hard. So I'm just
- 14:58Speaker 1: really again focusing on what I can control, and I
- 15:02Speaker 1: live myself truly. You know. My life is a lifestyle.
- 15:06Speaker 1: My habits are ingrained in me, and so I think
- 15:10Speaker 1: that's how I'm surviving this pandemic. And my head sound straight,
- 15:13Speaker 1: even though I am emotional and I'm kind of all
- 15:15Speaker 1: over the place. My head sound straight, my feet on
- 15:17Speaker 1: on the ground, and I'm just eager to make the
- 15:19Speaker 1: best of it.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Making the best of it is really just about as
- 15:23Speaker 2: best as we can do. I love what you said
- 15:25Speaker 2: about reaching for obviously the almonds and keeping other healthy
- 15:30Speaker 2: snacks around I remember when I listened to you on
- 15:33Speaker 2: a rich role you mentioned that you were drinking the
- 15:36Speaker 2: four sigmatic chaga mushroom hot cocoa.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Maybe, well, I drink every four sigmatic product all the time.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Aside from I mean that stuff and the almonds, what
- 15:47Speaker 2: would you say, are other smart things that you integrate
- 15:50Speaker 2: often into your diet and regular routine.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Yeah, well, you know what this is. I mean, this
- 15:56Speaker 1: is something my trainer told me, said out loud a
- 15:58Speaker 1: month ago to somebody else. He's like, you know, when
- 16:00Speaker 1: you're when you're constructing your meal, whether it's a snack
- 16:03Speaker 1: or a full on meal, the first thing you need
- 16:05Speaker 1: to think about is your protein. And that to me
- 16:08Speaker 1: because sometimes I'm just confused, you know, and I don't
- 16:10Speaker 1: know what to structure my meal around. But as an athlete,
- 16:12Speaker 1: as a high performing human, as someone who wants to
- 16:15Speaker 1: keep building muscle and supporting my entire system, protein is
- 16:17Speaker 1: obviously huge. And when he said that, Emily, I was like, duh,
- 16:21Speaker 1: Like everything I need. I need protein to every meal,
- 16:25Speaker 1: you know. And so when he said build your meals
- 16:27Speaker 1: and your snacks around protein, it was like a light
- 16:29Speaker 1: one off, and now like I just made my kids breakfast,
- 16:32Speaker 1: and they all wanted apples, and so I put I
- 16:34Speaker 1: was like, awesome, great, great fiber, great, you know, vitamins.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Let me put some natural almond butter so you can
- 16:40Speaker 1: have the protein, you know, to offset that blood sugar spike.
- 16:44Speaker 1: And so just things like that are really really helpful
- 16:46Speaker 1: to me. You know, when I go shopping, I literally
- 16:49Speaker 1: I work as hard as I can to avoid the
- 16:51Speaker 1: inside aisles, you know, I shop on the perimeters, which
- 16:54Speaker 1: again it's just real food. I want to ingest and
- 16:57Speaker 1: digest real food because that's where the nutrients are. You know,
- 17:00Speaker 1: it's processed when it's in a package, so yummy, so amazing.
- 17:03Speaker 1: They just have to put other things in their preservatives
- 17:05Speaker 1: to keep them that way. And I don't need that
- 17:07Speaker 1: in my body. Yeah, so I just I choose healthy basically,
- 17:10Speaker 1: you know, and I look at it as I want
- 17:13Speaker 1: to feel good and it's an exciting thing and I'm
- 17:15Speaker 1: learning the healthy swaps that I can do in my life,
- 17:18Speaker 1: you know. But nutrition is hugely, hugely important. My snacking
- 17:23Speaker 1: is really important. I didn't realize I was a grazer,
- 17:26Speaker 1: you know, And so every week, you know, when I
- 17:28Speaker 1: do have time to meal prep, I do make really
- 17:30Speaker 1: healthy snacks. We have our almond balls that we make
- 17:33Speaker 1: that are energy bites, you know, with the protein and
- 17:35Speaker 1: which things that are going to like prepare me to
- 17:37Speaker 1: go and have a great workout, or go and help
- 17:39Speaker 1: my kids and their zoom calls. For school, I mean,
- 17:41Speaker 1: let's not talk about homeschooling. I will lose my mind.
- 17:44Speaker 1: I'm such a bad teacher. And then entrees. You know,
- 17:46Speaker 1: I just I eat my protein, I eat my greens,
- 17:48Speaker 1: and everything is for performance and everything is for feeling good.
- 17:52Speaker 1: And I want my kids to live that way. So
- 17:54Speaker 1: I need to be a good role model.
- 17:55Speaker 2: You know, nutrition is such an important part of your
- 17:58Speaker 2: life these days, as well as you know, being a
- 18:01Speaker 2: stellar athlete and training. When you were growing up, I
- 18:04Speaker 2: know you were born in Santa Clara. Was athleticism a
- 18:07Speaker 2: really important thing? Were you an active kid?
- 18:10Speaker 3: Oh?
- 18:10Speaker 1: My goodness, gracious, yes, Well my parents are both athletes.
- 18:14Speaker 1: My mom played three sports at Santa Clara University. My dad,
- 18:17Speaker 1: you know, played basketball and some for basketball and baseball.
- 18:21Speaker 3: He's a stud.
- 18:21Speaker 1: The group their parents were studs, So I just it
- 18:24Speaker 1: was unavoidable, you know, I think in my DNA, I'm
- 18:27Speaker 1: part I'm just like part of it, part of the
- 18:30Speaker 1: data is you're a competitor.
- 18:32Speaker 3: You have no choice.
- 18:34Speaker 1: I was raised, it was just we were just constantly playing.
- 18:37Speaker 1: You know, I have a billion cousins. We all grew
- 18:39Speaker 1: up around each other.
- 18:39Speaker 3: I have.
- 18:40Speaker 1: You know, I'm one of five kids, and that was
- 18:42Speaker 1: our life. Our life was faith, family in sports. And
- 18:45Speaker 1: fast forward now I'm forty one, I have kids on
- 18:47Speaker 1: my own, and my life is faith, family in sports,
- 18:50Speaker 1: and it's rat So when did you first get into volleyball? Then?
- 18:54Speaker 1: You know, I played everything growing up. When I found volleyball,
- 18:58Speaker 1: I was just head over heels in love and I
- 19:00Speaker 1: was ten in the fifth grade. And I continue to
- 19:03Speaker 1: play every single sport. When I got to high school,
- 19:05Speaker 1: I played basketball and volleyball. And I'm a really big
- 19:07Speaker 1: advocate for multi sport athletes. You know, I'm sure you're
- 19:10Speaker 1: well aware of it, but there's so many young kids
- 19:13Speaker 1: who are starting to work for a college scholarship when
- 19:15Speaker 1: they're ten years old, and therefore they're specializing and only
- 19:19Speaker 1: doing one sport three sixty five, twenty four seven, And
- 19:22Speaker 1: that's just it makes me sad. I fully understand, and
- 19:25Speaker 1: I understand the rationale. To me, it's just flawed, you know,
- 19:29Speaker 1: and to me, the best of the best in any realm,
- 19:32Speaker 1: but certainly in sports are the athletes who are utility players,
- 19:35Speaker 1: you know, who have a very well rounded knowing and
- 19:39Speaker 1: mastery of the game, not just one little dimension. And
- 19:42Speaker 1: so I really appreciate that I played a lot of
- 19:43Speaker 1: sports growing up, but volleyball, Emily, like, prior to volleyball,
- 19:46Speaker 1: I thought I was going to be the first girl
- 19:48Speaker 1: in the NBA. I thought I was going to be
- 19:49Speaker 1: the first major league pitcher, and then I found volleyball,
- 19:52Speaker 1: and I was just like, no, this is what I
- 19:54Speaker 1: want to do.
- 19:55Speaker 2: You went to Stanford on a volleyball scholarship. When you
- 19:59Speaker 2: were there, do you think I'm definitely going to take
- 20:02Speaker 2: this pro or did you think this is something I'm
- 20:04Speaker 2: going to do in college?
- 20:06Speaker 1: Well, you know, I just I didn't think about it.
- 20:08Speaker 1: I just my life has been so awesome and just
- 20:11Speaker 1: that it keeps unfolding as it should. You know, there's
- 20:14Speaker 1: not a lot of premeditation of about what's next. And
- 20:17Speaker 1: I feel like I live my life so honestly and
- 20:21Speaker 1: like I can't do anything fake, Emily, Like I can't
- 20:25Speaker 1: force something, I can't do something today that I hope
- 20:28Speaker 1: turns into something down the road. You know, I just
- 20:31Speaker 1: I need to do things authentically, and so I think
- 20:33Speaker 1: the fact that I live my days so truly, it
- 20:35Speaker 1: just keeps leading me to like my heart's desire and
- 20:38Speaker 1: to what's next. In high school, you know, I love volleyball,
- 20:41Speaker 1: and my parents would take me to Stanford games and
- 20:44Speaker 1: I'd go watch and I walk the campus and that
- 20:46Speaker 1: planted that seed and then I, you know, I worked hard.
- 20:49Speaker 1: I got that scholarship, and you know, something else came
- 20:52Speaker 1: knocking at the door, just because I think I was
- 20:54Speaker 1: living so honestly and I was living out my heart,
- 20:58Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And so now with volleyball,
- 21:01Speaker 1: just every time, I just keep leveling up, and there's
- 21:03Speaker 1: no more levels to go in my competitive career and
- 21:06Speaker 1: I've been doing it for twenty years. So I'll segue
- 21:08Speaker 1: to something else, you know, which I have a company
- 21:11Speaker 1: called P fourteen forty, which I will be in the
- 21:13Speaker 1: natural segue. But I'm not even thinking about that, you know,
- 21:16Speaker 1: I'm just living my life.
- 21:17Speaker 2: After you started playing in college, was there a specific
- 21:21Speaker 2: moment or in an event that made you decide like,
- 21:25Speaker 2: I've got to keep running with.
- 21:26Speaker 1: This well, I think just my true love for it.
- 21:29Speaker 1: You know, people can talk to me, they're like, Carrie,
- 21:31Speaker 1: why are you still going?
- 21:32Speaker 3: My goodness?
- 21:33Speaker 1: Like it's almost greedy at this point, you know, And
- 21:34Speaker 1: I'm just like, well, what do you want me to
- 21:36Speaker 1: cut off this love affair that I is still going strong? Like,
- 21:39Speaker 1: that's not fair. I would feel just so sad if
- 21:43Speaker 1: I gave up something prematurely, because on paper, it's been
- 21:46Speaker 1: twenty years, you know. And so I'm just keep following
- 21:49Speaker 1: my heart and I just have I still have big
- 21:52Speaker 1: goals and dreams with what I'm doing. And I've said
- 21:54Speaker 1: this in so many interviews and it's so my truth.
- 21:57Speaker 1: It's like, two things keep me well, Three things keep
- 21:59Speaker 1: you me going in the game. My love for the game,
- 22:02Speaker 1: my sincere love for the people I've been surrounded by,
- 22:05Speaker 1: the relationships that I fostered has been incredible. The best
- 22:09Speaker 1: part of this time civilion, and then the personal growth
- 22:12Speaker 1: that I get, you know, because every goal that I'm
- 22:16Speaker 1: trying to strive, I have to become the person capable
- 22:18Speaker 1: of attaining that goal, and whether I fall short or not,
- 22:22Speaker 1: it almost doesn't even matter because I'm becoming something more
- 22:25Speaker 1: and better and that's the gift of all these things.
- 22:27Speaker 1: That's why it's so important to have something to aim for.
- 22:30Speaker 1: You know, if you don't have anything to aim for,
- 22:32Speaker 1: we're kind of like, Okay, I'll do this and this
- 22:33Speaker 1: and this. But if you know what you're going for,
- 22:35Speaker 1: it's your system, your mind, your spirit like organizes itself
- 22:39Speaker 1: and organizes the life outside of ourself to help you
- 22:42Speaker 1: do that. And it's so cool.
- 22:43Speaker 3: You mentioned personal growth, you mentioned falling short.
- 22:46Speaker 2: I think a lot of people when they chat with you,
- 22:49Speaker 2: they probably immediately go to that bronze medal. But my
- 22:52Speaker 2: question for you really is, if you think about your
- 22:56Speaker 2: career thus far, and you mentioned twenty plus years, here
- 22:59Speaker 2: is a specific instance that was quote unquote a failure
- 23:04Speaker 2: that really just launched you into a better understanding of
- 23:08Speaker 2: who you are and what your strengths might be.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Oh well, what a good question. You know that bronze medal.
- 23:12Speaker 1: People actually don't want to talk about it because I
- 23:14Speaker 1: think they don't want to hurt my feelings.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Really, I would think that that like when people talk
- 23:19Speaker 2: about winning and losing, so to.
- 23:21Speaker 3: Speak, they're like, well, there was that one bronze medal.
- 23:24Speaker 1: I know, but it's like the secret in the closet,
- 23:26Speaker 1: which is crazy.
- 23:26Speaker 3: I might be projecting on them.
- 23:28Speaker 1: That could totally be my issue because it was for
- 23:30Speaker 1: a while, for a while, you know, when we won it,
- 23:33Speaker 1: I was so happy. I was so proud because, honestly,
- 23:36Speaker 1: and I'm at that point again, I was It was
- 23:39Speaker 1: the hardest thing I've ever done as an athlete, to
- 23:41Speaker 1: literally get your heart ripped out of your chest, to
- 23:43Speaker 1: fail on the world's biggest stage. The way I framed
- 23:46Speaker 1: it was that it was my fault that I, you know,
- 23:49Speaker 1: had the worst game and I took our team out
- 23:51Speaker 1: of it. And the way you frame challenges and failures
- 23:54Speaker 1: like oh my gosh, it sucks up, it sets up
- 23:56Speaker 1: your road to healing from that failure in learning. And
- 23:58Speaker 1: so I really put myself in a hole there but
- 24:00Speaker 1: to win and to like have to be everything that
- 24:04Speaker 1: I try to teach my kids to be, you know,
- 24:06Speaker 1: have high character. If you get knocked down, believe in yourself,
- 24:09Speaker 1: get back up. It's not always going to be easy.
- 24:11Speaker 1: You always just fight and fight and fight, and that's
- 24:13Speaker 1: the gift of sports. And so April and I did
- 24:16Speaker 1: that and we triumphed, and it was gnarly and it
- 24:18Speaker 1: was so beautiful. For two years after that, Emily, I
- 24:21Speaker 1: was in a tailspin, like every time, oh my gosh,
- 24:24Speaker 1: every time I played, I stepped in the court, I
- 24:26Speaker 1: played in fear. Every time I step in the court.
- 24:28Speaker 1: You know. I used to look at the athletes being like, okay,
- 24:31Speaker 1: I know your weakness. Here here, here, I can you know,
- 24:33Speaker 1: I see you, I respect you, but I'm going to
- 24:35Speaker 1: go after you. But the way I framed it after
- 24:38Speaker 1: that is like, oh my gosh, I've been so exposed.
- 24:40Speaker 1: I'm so weak, like they all know. And it was
- 24:43Speaker 1: just so not me and it was so confusing. And
- 24:45Speaker 1: what I came down to is that I just didn't
- 24:47Speaker 1: realize that I had wrapped my entire identity on winning.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Not that I wont everything before, but in the world's
- 24:54Speaker 1: biggest stages, like when it was like crunch time, I
- 24:57Speaker 1: won and we won, and every every team win, you know,
- 25:02Speaker 1: I stepped up and I did my job, And this
- 25:04Speaker 1: was one situation where I didn't, and I felt like
- 25:06Speaker 1: it was all my fault. And so I really had
- 25:08Speaker 1: to come to grips with like it shook me down
- 25:10Speaker 1: to my foundation, and I did a lot of work
- 25:12Speaker 1: with Gervebe. I had to forgive myself. I had to
- 25:15Speaker 1: talk about the shame that I felt. And this is
- 25:18Speaker 1: all for sports, you know, like imagine like and which
- 25:21Speaker 1: is my life. Like I'm not trying to demean sports
- 25:23Speaker 1: because this is everything to me, but imagine you know,
- 25:27Speaker 1: screw ups in life, like we are so mean to ourselves.
- 25:31Speaker 1: And so the self love part of everything, you know,
- 25:33Speaker 1: I talk about mindfulness and self love and sitting in
- 25:36Speaker 1: stillness and a lot of people think it's woo and flufy,
- 25:39Speaker 1: and I'm like you, guys, you don't understand, Like, if
- 25:41Speaker 1: you help self love, you can handle you can handle anything,
- 25:45Speaker 1: any failure because you know you can learn and grow
- 25:47Speaker 1: through it. If you sit in stillness, you can always
- 25:50Speaker 1: return to the moment, which is your point of power.
- 25:52Speaker 3: You know.
- 25:53Speaker 1: These things that seem so flufy are like leading edge
- 25:56Speaker 1: laser sharp weapons that I can use. And so I've
- 25:59Speaker 1: needed a lot since Rio, and I think the gift
- 26:02Speaker 1: of Rio is that it did. It humbled me and
- 26:04Speaker 1: I had to go deeper into myself. And at this
- 26:07Speaker 1: point now, even on top of everything with the pandemic,
- 26:10Speaker 1: it's like, I want to go out there and just compete.
- 26:14Speaker 1: You know, I know what I want. I want to dominate.
- 26:16Speaker 1: I want to win that gold medal, but that even
- 26:18Speaker 1: causes stress and pressure, right, And Gervais he taught me
- 26:21Speaker 1: he's like Carrie, instead of talking about a big moment,
- 26:23Speaker 1: instead of talking about the pressure that you feel, you know,
- 26:26Speaker 1: when it's thirteen all in game three, He's like, just
- 26:28Speaker 1: look at it as this is a competitive moment. And Emily,
- 26:31Speaker 1: when he said that, I was like, that is so genius,
- 26:34Speaker 1: because I know, if I know anything in life, I
- 26:37Speaker 1: know I'm a competitor and I'm born to compete. And
- 26:39Speaker 1: competing is just all about giving your best to what's
- 26:42Speaker 1: in front of you. And I can do that with
- 26:45Speaker 1: the best in the world in any sport, male, female,
- 26:47Speaker 1: whatever you got, And so that's what I'm really I've
- 26:50Speaker 1: learned that since Rio and with this pandemic. You know,
- 26:54Speaker 1: we were so ready for Tokyo, but we were kind
- 26:56Speaker 1: of pissed off and like almost wanting to be done,
- 26:59Speaker 1: but so excited the journey. But you know, when you
- 27:00Speaker 1: want something too bad, you can suffocate it. And now
- 27:03Speaker 1: I think the gift of this pandemic is that we're
- 27:05Speaker 1: just gonna be grateful and we're gonna go out there
- 27:07Speaker 1: and press play and be playful. I want to be
- 27:10Speaker 1: playfully joyfully dominant. That's like my goal. I want that combination,
- 27:15Speaker 1: and now I think I think that's possible as we
- 27:17Speaker 1: go into Tokyo.
- 27:19Speaker 3: What aside from volleyball right now excites you, I.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Mean, growing up, you know. I just I'm really getting connected,
- 27:30Speaker 1: Like I live in my spirituality every single day, and
- 27:33Speaker 1: I'm just understanding myself more and feeling closer to my creator,
- 27:37Speaker 1: my children and seeing their you know, souls thrive and
- 27:41Speaker 1: their minds grow and their curiosities lead them into themselves.
- 27:44Speaker 1: That's really beautiful. You know. I'm really excited for our
- 27:47Speaker 1: world right now, even though I know it's so gnarly
- 27:50Speaker 1: and there's so much going on. I just I really
- 27:53Speaker 1: I've lived it. I've lived rock bottom lifting me up,
- 27:57Speaker 1: you know, and I have burnt my house down and
- 28:00Speaker 1: rebuilt it better. And so I think that's where our
- 28:02Speaker 1: world is. That certainly here in America, I believe that's
- 28:04Speaker 1: where we're at. And I know there's so much, you know,
- 28:07Speaker 1: the toxicity and the negativity is so loud, but I
- 28:10Speaker 1: look around and I see so much good and so
- 28:13Speaker 1: much unity, and that's what's going to lead us forward. Powerfully,
- 28:16Speaker 1: and I want to be part of that light movement.
- 28:18Speaker 1: You know. Gosh, it's like one person who has a
- 28:20Speaker 1: positive message is like a million times stronger than one
- 28:24Speaker 1: hundred people with a negative message, you know. And I
- 28:27Speaker 1: see so many kind of light workers and healers and
- 28:29Speaker 1: leaders in the world, and I'm so excited.
- 28:32Speaker 3: On the day to day front right now.
- 28:35Speaker 2: I mean you had mentioned I think three different practices
- 28:38Speaker 2: or something earlier in our conversation, So what does it
- 28:41Speaker 2: look like for you now?
- 28:44Speaker 1: You know, it's just there's always so much opportunity. Like
- 28:47Speaker 1: I've had so many injuries in my life, and my
- 28:49Speaker 1: mum always just saidkay, there's opportunity here. There's opportunities Dad,
- 28:53Speaker 1: tools to your toolkits. So we take it one day
- 28:56Speaker 1: at a time. We have like things planned like three
- 29:00Speaker 1: weeks out where our kids could get excited about, and
- 29:03Speaker 1: that kind of takes the pressure off of the pressure
- 29:04Speaker 1: of the moment. You know, there's always something to look
- 29:06Speaker 1: forward to. But the day to day is it's really basic.
- 29:10Speaker 1: You know. For me personally, I start every day with mindfulness.
- 29:13Speaker 1: I sit in meditation for fifteen minutes, I do my
- 29:16Speaker 1: gratitude journal, and I write my thoughts. You know, writing
- 29:19Speaker 1: makes me smarter and it holds me accountable and I
- 29:22Speaker 1: can kind of flush out my thoughts and where I'm at.
- 29:25Speaker 1: You know. The family wakes up around six thirty and
- 29:28Speaker 1: we have a rad breakfast together. You know, it's really fun.
- 29:32Speaker 1: The kids are always so alive and awake and happy
- 29:34Speaker 1: in the mornings. And then usually between nine and three,
- 29:37Speaker 1: like my husband and I, Casey and I are doing
- 29:40Speaker 1: the business. You know that we ran that we run
- 29:42Speaker 1: P fourteen forty. We're training, we're training with our kids.
- 29:46Speaker 1: We're playing one on one in the backyard. But we're
- 29:48Speaker 1: doing mostly you know, business stuff between those times and
- 29:51Speaker 1: after that, it's just a free for all with our family.
- 29:55Speaker 1: This is such a great time because it's like we're
- 29:57Speaker 1: in a fish bowl with our family and our kids
- 30:00Speaker 1: and their little mirrors like I when I'm messing up
- 30:02Speaker 1: or when I'm being too casual with my you know,
- 30:04Speaker 1: my snacks that I reach for if I'm eting too
- 30:06Speaker 1: much junk, or if I'm on my phone too much,
- 30:08Speaker 1: or if I'm grumpy, like I get immediate feedback on
- 30:11Speaker 1: their little faces and it makes me better, you know.
- 30:14Speaker 1: And this is such a time where our kids are
- 30:16Speaker 1: looking to us for leadership and guidance, and that's really
- 30:19Speaker 1: inspiring to me. You know, it makes me better, It
- 30:21Speaker 1: makes me more thoughtful because the best leaders in my
- 30:24Speaker 1: life it's like Mike Truvak. He doesn't tell me how
- 30:26Speaker 1: to do it. He guides me as I figure out
- 30:29Speaker 1: my way, you know, and he leads by example. And
- 30:32Speaker 1: I want to be that way for my children, with
- 30:34Speaker 1: my husband, and certainly for the world.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Definitely. And I'm totally with you on the writing things
- 30:40Speaker 2: down note. It's like a cornerstone for me of my
- 30:43Speaker 2: morning routine. When you think about some of the best
- 30:46Speaker 2: advice that you have been offered in your career, what
- 30:50Speaker 2: do you think about?
- 30:53Speaker 1: You know, I just keep coming back to personal accountability.
- 30:58Speaker 1: To me, personal accountability is the antidote, antidote to chaos,
- 31:02Speaker 1: you know. And I feel like there's the tendency is
- 31:05Speaker 1: just we you know, we're all we're all victimized by
- 31:09Speaker 1: life in life to different varying degrees, and you know,
- 31:11Speaker 1: and there's so many blessings even when we're in those
- 31:14Speaker 1: challenging places. But I just I I keep coming back
- 31:18Speaker 1: to the fact that if I can show up in
- 31:21Speaker 1: my days, show up in every situation and act like
- 31:24Speaker 1: I chose it. I can therefore master the situation and
- 31:28Speaker 1: master the moment. And again, I don't want. I don't
- 31:31Speaker 1: want anything outside of me to determine my fate or
- 31:34Speaker 1: determine to determine my happiness or the way I show up.
- 31:37Speaker 1: And so for me, I'm really working on that, like
- 31:41Speaker 1: just to just to focus on what I can control,
- 31:44Speaker 1: you know, and to be the change I believe is
- 31:47Speaker 1: necessary and to be to set the tone I think
- 31:50Speaker 1: will help the situation. Like Mike GERVEI, at the end
- 31:53Speaker 1: of every podcast, he's like, finished this sentence. It all
- 31:55Speaker 1: comes down to blank and for so long, and I
- 32:00Speaker 1: still believe this. I would say love, right, Love is
- 32:02Speaker 1: behind everything in my life, even the fear and the doubt.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Love is the bottom line. But to me, I think
- 32:08Speaker 1: a more powerful thing to do, to say, at least
- 32:11Speaker 1: right now for me, is that it all comes down
- 32:13Speaker 1: to me. You know, it comes down to me. Like
- 32:18Speaker 1: I am the leader of my own life. I create
- 32:19Speaker 1: my own life, and I really want to encourage people
- 32:22Speaker 1: and empower people to look at life that way because
- 32:24Speaker 1: then literally, man, you are the captain of your own ship.
- 32:27Speaker 1: It's beautiful.
- 32:28Speaker 3: I love that well right now?
- 32:31Speaker 2: You know, if I scroll over to your Instagram, I
- 32:33Speaker 2: see a woman that is a volleyball player, a mother.
- 32:36Speaker 2: She's got two hundred and thirty seven thousand followers and change.
- 32:40Speaker 2: When you look in the mirror, what is it that
- 32:42Speaker 2: you see looking back at you?
- 32:45Speaker 1: Oh? Man, well, I'm tempted to not be nice to
- 32:47Speaker 1: myself right now?
- 32:50Speaker 3: Good is that the first person to say that I know?
- 32:53Speaker 1: Well, I got I bet everyone says that, you know,
- 32:56Speaker 1: And that's why it's probably a good exercise. There's a
- 32:58Speaker 1: meditation you do where you literally close your eyes and
- 33:00Speaker 1: you talk yourself in the mirror, and it's really hard
- 33:03Speaker 1: for me. So thank you for reminding me that that's
- 33:05Speaker 1: some work I have to do.
- 33:06Speaker 3: You know, I'm caring.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Oh, thank you. When I look in the mirror, Emily,
- 33:09Speaker 1: I I really see a sincere human that is very
- 33:15Speaker 1: much a work in progress. And both sides of that
- 33:18Speaker 1: sentence are equally important, because I really want to be
- 33:23Speaker 1: grateful and happy and accepting of where I'm at and
- 33:26Speaker 1: yet always working toward better and happily. So not because
- 33:30Speaker 1: I feel shame or you know, I'm you know, I
- 33:33Speaker 1: just because there's always more to be and to do.
- 33:36Speaker 1: And so that's kind of where I'm at in life
- 33:38Speaker 1: right now. I really don't look in the mirrors too
- 33:40Speaker 1: much anymore, but you know, but I really like the symbol,
- 33:45Speaker 1: symbol symbolization of a mirror, symbolism. And you know, there's
- 33:49Speaker 1: a jeweler I love Me and Roe. They have this
- 33:52Speaker 1: beautiful gold disc and it's called the Tibetan Mirror, and
- 33:55Speaker 1: so there's just four dots that kind of go on
- 33:58Speaker 1: a diamond shape and they say, like, when you go
- 34:01Speaker 1: to heaven, a mirror is going to be placed in
- 34:04Speaker 1: front of you, and you're going to have your life
- 34:05Speaker 1: played out in front of you. And so we should
- 34:07Speaker 1: live our lives in a way that when we do
- 34:09Speaker 1: get there, we'd be proud, and you know, and so
- 34:13Speaker 1: I really appreciate that symbolism. And yeah, when I look
- 34:16Speaker 1: at a mirror, I'm grateful and I want to be better.
- 34:18Speaker 3: I love it.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Well, I'll close this out here with the question that
- 34:21Speaker 2: I finish off every episode. Right now, you have an
- 34:24Speaker 2: opportunity to give yourself one piece of advice. I'd say
- 34:27Speaker 2: during that hurdle moment after the bronze, when you came
- 34:30Speaker 2: back and you were just kind of second guessing yourself
- 34:33Speaker 2: a lot. You have an opportunity to offer yourself one
- 34:36Speaker 2: piece of advice during that difficult time.
- 34:39Speaker 3: What do you tell yourself?
- 34:43Speaker 1: Man? What a great question. I guess there's two sides
- 34:49Speaker 1: of it. It's like, one is that failure is part
- 34:53Speaker 1: of it, it's supposed to be hard. And the other
- 35:00Speaker 1: side of it is you can do hard things and
- 35:02Speaker 1: you'll grow from this. I think that those kind of
- 35:07Speaker 1: couple phrases would round out how I wish I would
- 35:11Speaker 1: have framed it. It took me two years to get there.
- 35:15Speaker 3: And you know what, you're still showing up and doing
- 35:17Speaker 3: hard things.
- 35:19Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, it's awesome, man, it's really cool. I'm like
- 35:22Speaker 1: I've done I've talked over five thousand kids and coaches
- 35:25Speaker 1: and parents in the past two months two and a
- 35:27Speaker 1: half months since all this happened, and like I just
- 35:31Speaker 1: I always get to the point in the conversation where
- 35:33Speaker 1: I'm like, you, guys, you can do hard things, Like
- 35:37Speaker 1: you know that about yourself and know that it's like
- 35:39Speaker 1: it's your spirit that dictates that, and that's that's your essence.
- 35:43Speaker 1: And so every time I talk to someone like I'm
- 35:45Speaker 1: talking to you, Emily, I'm talking to myself. You know, yeah,
- 35:48Speaker 1: and these things are simple, but it doesn't mean they're easy.
- 35:51Speaker 1: And like it's like living a healthy lifestyle. It's simple,
- 35:53Speaker 1: but it does not make it easy. And that's why
- 35:55Speaker 1: it's so important to create great habits, you know, with
- 35:58Speaker 1: your sleep routine, with your nutrition routine, with your recovery
- 36:01Speaker 1: and you're you know, moving every day in your gratitude journal,
- 36:04Speaker 1: whatever it is. We are our habits and so we
- 36:06Speaker 1: might as well what we might as well make those awesome.
- 36:10Speaker 3: Thank you so much for your time today, Carrie.
- 36:12Speaker 1: Oh, you're welcome. Emily, You're rad I really really appreciate it,
- 36:15Speaker 1: and I want to I just want to say thank
- 36:16Speaker 1: you one more time to my partners at the California.
- 36:19Speaker 1: I'm on board. They are an authentic partner of mine
- 36:21Speaker 1: and they really fuel my days and they help fuel
- 36:23Speaker 1: this dream. I want that fourth gold medal Emily in Tokyo,
- 36:27Speaker 1: and my partners are a huge part of it. And
- 36:29Speaker 1: it's going to be a rad why ride. I can't
- 36:31Speaker 1: wait to see the person I come, you know, I
- 36:33Speaker 1: evolve into to make this dreamer reality.
- 36:36Speaker 3: Well, thank you so much.
