- 0:00Happy, Happy Tuesday, As they say.
- 0:08In Wisconsin, it's Tuesday. Tuesday.
- 0:13Yeah, Don't you know? Yeah.
- 0:15All right, everybody. Today's subject matter is how do
- 0:27you take winning and losing? The Indiana Hoosiers, they won
- 0:35their very first ever national championship.
- 0:41The college football team, they won 16 games and they lost zero.
- 0:47They won every game and the top that the coach is only in his
- 0:54second year. So he he set a new track record.
- 1:00He joined the team as the head coach and in his second year, he
- 1:05turned A-Team around that has never won the national
- 1:11championship and and they they won.
- 1:14So there's a lot of stories here.
- 1:17Brand new coach comes in turns the complete program around the
- 1:25the quarterback immediately we'll go to the NFL.
- 1:29They say, you know, college football is so much different
- 1:37than the NFL. It's sometimes the quarterback
- 1:45for the colleges cannot make it in the NFL.
- 1:50Kind of reminds me of NASCAR. You know, the the NASCAR
- 1:59O'Reilly Auto parts cars. They're you know, they're a lot
- 2:04different. And sometimes a driver going
- 2:08from the O'Reilly Auto parts series to the Cup Series, you
- 2:12know, it's just, it's just a tall mountain.
- 2:15Sometimes takes a little bit. I've seen them in the NFL.
- 2:20I've seen them, you know, acquire a great quarterback from
- 2:27college, start him in the first one or two games and then bench
- 2:31him right away. Bench a winning quarterback.
- 2:37Did did you know that they, they benched John Elway.
- 2:41John Elway, the two time Super Bowl champion with the with
- 2:47Denver, he made it, he made it to the NFL and then they they
- 2:52benched him like after one or three games, he struggled
- 2:57mightily, but then he made it at the very end of his career and
- 3:02he won it all. People win differently and
- 3:07people take winning differently. That's my subject matter of
- 3:10today. Now I'm at the age now where
- 3:14I've seen a lot and I'd like to comment on this, rightfully so.
- 3:21Everybody from Indiana, they're out of breath, they're jacked up
- 3:25on sun Drop and they're you know who else is it came from
- 3:32Indiana? Steve Kinser, Bloomington's
- 3:34doing it tonight. Transfer portal.
- 3:39All these, all these words are coming up now.
- 3:41Everybody's trying to justify, tell you why they won.
- 3:48See, when you win and you're not the chosen 1, then they tell you
- 3:54why you won, and then they kind of try to tell you why you
- 3:58shouldn't have won. Well, the reason they won, you
- 4:01know, or the reason they lost. See what I'm saying?
- 4:09It's kind of the art of winning and losing.
- 4:11And if you win or you lose, they make a big old show about it.
- 4:15Here's why they won. You know why the mom didn't get,
- 4:18didn't get up and cheer? Because she can't.
- 4:21That's why the dad sat down next to her.
- 4:26All these stories come out. You know, the quarterback his
- 4:29mom can't stand. So the dad sits with her
- 4:32wonderful story, all these little, you know, sage steel.
- 4:39She likes Indiana, so she's wearing her Indiana stuff on TV
- 4:44today. I want to talk about how people
- 4:52take winning. So Indiana's just going along in
- 4:57their life, You know, they're just going along.
- 4:59Yeah. We're just a normal little
- 5:01little college here. And then all of a sudden they
- 5:02tweak a rule and all of a sudden they're 16 other national
- 5:05champions. It's wonderful.
- 5:11Every little victory I have, I celebrate.
- 5:15I I win a little, they call it a little.
- 5:18Of course, I've heard some of the greats go.
- 5:20There are no little wins. We try to downplay.
- 5:25Sorry, sorry, I cussed. You'll notice how people try to
- 5:32justify the great Dick Trickle would say to me, my boy, it's
- 5:37all and how you justify it. So now, now all day today, maybe
- 5:43all day tomorrow, everybody will tell you, like I said, they'll
- 5:47tell you what they think and they want to get it out.
- 5:49This is why. This is what But one thing I've
- 5:52learned about winning and I and I told, and you've heard this
- 5:55before, maybe five years ago, whenever I started doing coffee
- 6:00with Kenny. I have some friends from Chicago
- 6:04and you know, the Chicago Cubs, the baseball team, they had not
- 6:09won a World Series in like 102 years, 102 years.
- 6:15The Cubs have never won a World Series.
- 6:19And I've got lots of friends in Chicago.
- 6:21And I said to them respectfully, I said be careful.
- 6:26I said, don't get so jacked up on sun drop.
- 6:30I said when you win the World Series, like a day later that
- 6:36it's just over. Sure enough, that friend said to
- 6:40me, man, you're right. We won the World Series and like
- 6:45two days later, everybody's back at work.
- 6:47You know, Monday or whatever day it was, it might have taken off,
- 6:50but then then you just go back to normal life.
- 6:54Nobody solved World Peace. It's fun, it's a game, but you
- 7:02see all the, you see all the, the mind games that competition
- 7:08plays with you. Here's why you won.
- 7:10Here's why you didn't win. Yeah.
- 7:13And it's over. Did you know Aaron Rodgers?
- 7:18That's what happened to him. I said this about two months
- 7:21ago. They, you know, basically they
- 7:25had a Netflix special. And it's kind of like Aaron
- 7:27Rodgers, why are you? Why are you different?
- 7:29What's wrong with you? He goes.
- 7:31What happened was I thought that when I win the Super Bowl that
- 7:36I, you know, I could solve all world's problems.
- 7:39I'd be the greatest of all time. And after you win it all, you
- 7:44realize, oh, that's it. There's no bells or whistles.
- 7:53There are for a little bit. You know, they go to Disney
- 7:56World. But eventually, so many days,
- 7:59you know, respond right here. How?
- 8:01How many days later? Besides your whole life?
- 8:04I get it. I've been waiting for my team to
- 8:07win their whole life. I've been pretty lucky here in
- 8:12Saint Louis. We, we, we're not a good city.
- 8:16We're, we love our city, but we're not great.
- 8:19But we were lucky to see the LA Rams win the Super Bowl here.
- 8:24They won the Super Bowl, but then we wanted to win another
- 8:27Super Bowl. And we were equally devastated
- 8:33that we lost to the New England Patriots.
- 8:36But my Saint Louis Rams one against the Tennessee Titans.
- 8:42But when we won against the Tennessee Titans and we were the
- 8:44greatest of all time, You see this happen with Larry
- 8:47McReynolds and his Roll Tide. I'm Alabama.
- 8:50We're the greatest football team.
- 8:52We should win all the games and it just never ends.
- 8:58My baseball Cardinals are 11 time world champion Saint Louis
- 9:02Cardinals. So when we lose here, it's like,
- 9:04oh, I got very lucky with the Saint Louis Blues.
- 9:09Would we win the 2019 seventeen? We were the Stanley Cup
- 9:14champions. And then you just realize just
- 9:18just Mosey on. I'll leave you with this.
- 9:23I learned something and I always thought it, but I heard somebody
- 9:27say it. They said the thrill of going on
- 9:29vacation is getting ready for the vacation.
- 9:34Actually, not when you're on it. You know, get your new tennis
- 9:37shoes, get your passport ready, getting everything ready.
- 9:44That's really the thrill of going on vacation.
- 9:46We win. Oh, don't act like you're a
- 9:48winner. Act like you've been here
- 9:49before. Downplay the win.
- 9:52You hear it all, don't you? Have a great Tuesday, everybody.
