- Nathan Hawthorne: the first Monday night football season matchup. Wow. First Monday night football game of the season. The matchup just got announced. We've got the Dallas Cowboys against the New York Giants. You're going big band, big brand for big brand. I'm excited for it. We've got two teams that we're not quite sure what they're going to be this year, but we know that they're probably going to be better than last year. What say you? Jarod McInroy: I told you my thoughts on the Giants. I think they're gonna have some competitive games. Now, this is gonna be a bigger game for the Cowboys though because one, it's a division rival, right? Like when you're in the midst of a season, you can go lose a game to a division rival very easily. So you wanna come, they have all of training, they have all of ⁓ summer camp, they have everything to prepare. to go out with the game plan, scheme for it, whatever. If you're growing pains to the preseason, whatever, go get it done. Go show that this is gonna be the season that you're gonna make things happen. You're gonna win the division. You're going to handle these games in particular very well. You're gonna put up a bunch of points and you're gonna stop them from scoring a bunch of points. Because the Giants have something to prove. They're gonna go out there and they're gonna give it their all and they're gonna try and take their heads off. So. Nathan Hawthorne: Yeah. Jarod McInroy: This is a very important game to start off the season for the Cowboys. And I already, you've heard my prediction, I think they're gonna win their division this year. And this will be the start of that. Seems like you don't like it. Nathan Hawthorne: Cowboys, Cowboys, no, I love it. But just again, Cowboys, do not embarrass us. We have given you way too much credit for this off season. The team you've put together, your draft, how things are looking, you know, another year of shoddy. I'm not convinced totally on him as a coach, but again, there's enough good things happening around and enough bad things happening everywhere else. There's some confidence there. Don't embarrass us, please. Jarod McInroy: Yes, please. Nathan Hawthorne: Go out there, get the win. You're gonna be going against a second year guy, new system, John Harbaugh. Get the win, please. Please, that's all I'm asking. yeah, I'm just excited for the matchup. I think the second matchup, Sunday Night Football, first Sunday Night Football actually got announced too and it's Kansas, huh? Jarod McInroy: You have those flipped. You have those flipped. So that's the Sunday night matchup. The Monday night matchup is the Kansas city chiefs and the Denver Broncos. You have it flopped positive, but it's all right. No, I, I, I, I had to think about it for a second. I was like, I don't remember. Did he say Sunday or did he say Monday when he said it originally, but regardless, Nathan Hawthorne: Kansas City. Do I have that flopped? Are we positive? Correct me sooner, dawg. Nah, it's all right. I- Yeah. Well, I'm sitting on the couch Sunday night and Monday night. It don't matter. Okay. It doesn't matter. I'm watching the game. Jarod McInroy: Doesn't matter. I'm watching them both. And the Cowboys still have to win regardless. And you and I, just to put a bow on that before we get into the next matchup, you and I are not big Cowboys people. We're not Cowboys fans. We hardly ever go out on a limb for them. We finally are doing it. Don't mess it up. Tell me about the Kansas City Chiefs. Nathan Hawthorne: Not at all! No, I've been burned by the Cowboys too many times. This week one matchup probably means more than any week one matchup in the NFL next year. Kansas City Chiefs versus the Denver Broncos. Got the Broncos, the division winners last year. Kansas City with Patrick Mahomes coming off of injury. This matchup is going to matter a lot. You hate to have a division matchup like this, this early in the season, before you've been able to develop your team, figure out who you are, what your identity is. This is tough and honestly I'm more concerned for Kansas City than I am for Denver. Denver has a better chance I think just because of the, I guess actually both of them are coming off of injury but from the momentum that they had the previous year, right? There's no we're scared of the Chiefs anymore. In the Chiefs there's a little bit more what are we right now? Who are we? And you've got Eric Bieneme back, the offensive coordinator. Your offensive weapons are hopefully back and healthy. And then on flip side Denver Broncos, you brought in Jalen Waddle. And now Kansas City, ⁓ Kansas City, got Montserrat Delane versus Jalen Waddle. Who's winning that matchup? That's gonna be a fun matchup to watch. I just, again, it's gonna be so important. Cause you know they're gonna play again and probably late in the season when the schedule comes out. And that could ultimately end up being the game that decided the division, you know, way back in September. It's crazy. Jarod McInroy: Yeah, I have a hard time thinking they're gonna put them that far in the season though Like it would feel really weird for them. They never spaced Two of the same team in their division games like that far apart So like to be a first game and then be like a last game also doesn't seem like super likely So probably be like a week 12 week 13 where they meet again I don't like it. I don't like the early division games. I feel like early on in the season Nathan Hawthorne: Yeah. Jarod McInroy: Is when you go and take two powerhouses that aren't in the same division and make them play each other and give us exciting games to really see how things go. like, know, throwing up Kansas city against like a green Bay, like somebody where they're, kind of a, you know, a good team. There's some sort of like history there, but also at the same time, it's not a division game because those are the most important games. So I don't like the decision by the NFL, but for us. going to be great to watch. I think it would be better further in the season, like you said, when both of these teams kind of have their footing a little bit. ⁓ Yeah, some of the matchups don't look great for Kansas City, because they are much more of a question mark. feel like ⁓ the Denver Broncos really only feel like a question mark at the quarterback position, like you mentioned. ⁓ But speaking of the Mansour DeLane versus Jalen Waddle, throwing that dude up against a polished proven NFL receiver. Game one is going to be tough. We've seen, you've seen what, what even the most elite corners look like as rookies. This is a different game. This is a different speed and these are, these are different receivers than what you're going up against. ⁓ So we'll see. I personally, I think I'm picking the winner of both of those games. I'm going Cowboys win that game and I think Broncos win that game. Nathan Hawthorne: Yeah Yep. ⁓ I'm going to split that. I like where your heads at. I'm going to go Cowboys Chiefs. I think the Eric B. Enemy energy being back in that Kansas City offense, it's going to be tough against what is a great Denver defense. I think he's going to have something special cooked up for this return. And maybe it's Tyreek Hill. He still hasn't signed anywhere, has he? Jarod McInroy: Okay, no No, there's there's a lot of hey, there's a lot of time left, but There's some names out there. There's some names out there speaking of which one name in particular David and joku to the chargers. So they go and get Justin Herbert a weapon ⁓ I feel like you're not as high on David and joku as I am but ⁓ They're doing something Nathan Hawthorne: There's a lot of time. That. ⁓ Jarod McInroy: He's a big target, he's sure handed, he runs great routes, he can't block with the dam, which is crazy for a Jim Harbaugh offense to be throwing him into the mix. ⁓ If we want to talk about destinations for Tyree Kill, I don't know why they're not on the phone ready to go like immediately. Nathan Hawthorne: I wouldn't hate that. Get the cheetah with the little lightning bolt on his helmet. mean the story just writes itself. Yeah, I like the pickup. Nothing more, nothing less. I like it. He's a solid tight end. He's proven with a capable quarterback. He can be an elite receiving weapon. Jarod McInroy: No. What? Nathan Hawthorne: elite receiving weapon is actually a pretty crazy way to say it. He had like a three game stretch a couple years ago. Jarod McInroy: Okay. Nathan Hawthorne: He can be a solid receiving weapon. Cool. The other big news though, would say, Will Anderson signed to a massive extension. I think that's great, that was a no-brainer. And then Breece Hall signed to an extension. And I thought that was a little bit questionable. Now the money's not too big, but Breece Hall, high usage, coming off the Achilles injury or that second year since, you've gotten some other weapons around him. Jarod McInroy: Yeah. Nathan Hawthorne: and extending running backs is hard. Yeah, they're not paying anybody. It's like it doesn't hurt. just, thought it was interesting. And so I wanted to get into a little segment today. Extending, cause yeah, yeah, yeah. It's called lock or walk. All right, are you gonna lock this? Lock or walk? Do you wanna pay this guy to stay? Or are we parting ways? Some of these are gonna be a little bit more obvious. Jarod McInroy: They're not paying anybody. Okay, let's get into it. Ooh, I like that. Nathan Hawthorne: Some of them might take a little bit of massaging and discussion. This is going to be all offense today. Not talking about any... Yeah. Jarod McInroy: question for the listeners. Is this going to be ones that have happened and I'm saying whether it's a good idea or this these are people who are pending an extension and I say whether they should do it or not Nathan Hawthorne: pending an extension should you do it. Lock or walk currently on his fifth option. We've got Bryce Young. Are we locking him in? Are we letting him walk? Jarod McInroy: Bye soon. Lock him in I Listen, we're locking in Bryce young and let me tell you why ⁓ the quarterbacks in this league, obviously, it's the most important position so ⁓ Add a minimum Get him on the books. ⁓ maybe two three years ⁓ I i'm not sure what the market's gonna be for him. ⁓ it's probably Unfortunately gonna be in the 30 to 40 million dollar range kind of that sam darnold range Nathan Hawthorne: Lock Bryce Young in. Okay. Jarod McInroy: I mean, if you think about it, ⁓ there's not too much that Sam Darnold's doing that Bryce Young can't do. So you got to lock in the quarterback, but we've also seen teams that do this and then either find a trade partner for them if they need to, or they go and they end up drafting somebody that they like better. ⁓ And then unfortunately that contract kind of just rots, but you can't have no plan. ⁓ The Panthers have done so much work to this point. on getting their roster better, their potential division winners yet again. ⁓ I think you got to lock in Bryce Young. I've liked what he's done so far and I think he hasn't reached his ceiling yet. Nathan Hawthorne: Okay, so Jordan Love, a guy who got extended, perhaps there were some question marks around it, he got 60 plus, didn't he? So you think Bryce, so Bryce Young you think is only in that 30 some odd a year? I'm thinking if you're signing this extension, I'd like to think he's getting 50 plus a year. Just by the rate of the quarterback market. Trevor Lawrence, Justin Herbert, all these guys got massive extensions. Jarod McInroy: a year and maybe It's probably closer to 40. I hear you, but I think he fully understands that he is not in that tier yet. And I also can't think of many teams that are going to be doing that when quarterbacks are about to really be coming at a surplus in the next draft. Like there's, I think that's also going to be a part of it is the timing of this. So I see the 40 million range. ⁓ and maybe it's two years, maybe it's, it's two year 90 million and Nathan Hawthorne: Sure. Jarod McInroy: They call it a day. We don't know. I don't think it should be super long-term extension. I still think he needs another, least like sort of approve it if you will contract. regardless, you gotta get a deal done. And I would say the money is less important than the years. Nathan Hawthorne: classic Jared. You got to have somebody throw the football. You got to have somebody throw the... Okay, moving on. Lock or walk. This is a guy after year one you thought for sure we're giving this guy the super max. CJ Stroud with the Texans. Are we locking or are we walking? Jarod McInroy: You got it! Somebody's gotta be back there, man. I don't know. We're locking. That one's way easier. That's very similar to the Young debate, but you have a better quarterback, I think. ⁓ Don't, okay, hang on now. ⁓ know you're over there making little noises, getting ready to off and say, CJ's shout was only good for you that one year. ⁓ Okay, hear out. It's another guy. just, don't think he's reached the ceiling. I think he, when he is playing his best, he, he plays really good football. He's not the most conservative at times, but that's something you can coach into somebody. His, his raw talent, his raw ability. He's a guy who can win you a Superbowl with the right roster. And again, the Texans are right there. Their defense is looking awesome. ⁓ they're continuing to try and. add pieces on the offensive side of the ball to make them better as well. dude, you, you, you got it. I don't know what your next option is. Nathan Hawthorne: Okay, no rebuttal there, I was just curious. You hopped in that defensive little front there. I was just asking if you wanna lock him in. I was just asking. Jarod McInroy: Yeah, because I saw you, I saw you. I'm locking them in. I'm giving CJ Stroud a contract and that one is probably going to be one that you have to eat as the Texans. Like going to be a four or five year and you're really giving them a good chunk. Nathan Hawthorne: Okay, up next. Walk or lock? Lock or walk? Okay. This team's gone through a lot of change recently. They've been in cap hell from some bad signings and some injuries, but they've got a guy who's produced, but he hasn't always been super healthy. We are looking at Chris Olavi and the New Orleans Saints. Are you extending him? Are you paying him? Do you want him to stay? Chris Olavi. Jarod McInroy: I'm gonna say... Here's what I'll say, it's walk if you can get a good trade done before this deadline. So if you get an offer from somebody and I think there's gonna be a lot of wide receiver needy teams that go, they see him as a great option to add to their wide receiver core. ⁓ Get a couple picks for him, maybe a position of need in return. Now that you got Jordan Tyson, I think you have some more flexibility. Nathan Hawthorne: Okay. Jarod McInroy: You're going to continue to draft receiver as the years go on. I don't think you can quite afford a Lave unless he's ready to make a team friendly deal, which I don't see him doing because I feel like he's played well enough and he's kind of elevated himself at least into that tier below the elite receivers where he's like a serviceable wide receiver one. I mean, we can debate as fans, but at least in terms of like the structure of an organization, they kind of deem him as a serviceable wide receiver one. ⁓ So that would be what I would say is if you can get a, yeah, Crystal Lave, I would say walk, try and trade them before the deadline. Nathan Hawthorne: Chris Olave walked. Yeah. You were looking at probably getting a Garrett Wilson type contract form, which is probably just a little bit more than you're willing to pay for a guy who honestly could retire on yet at any moment. And I don't mean that in any slight to Chris Olave because again, when he's been healthy, he's been great and he hasn't had an amazing quarterback throwing in the football for most of his career. So for him to be still producing the way he is pretty awesome. But Chris Olave let him walk. Jarod McInroy: I think it's a win-win also because I think Nathan Hawthorne: Yeah, it's part of the turnover, right? It's time for some new stuff to come in the building. Jarod McInroy: trade him over to a team where he can be one of the best wide receiver twos in the NFL. That's best case scenario for him. Nathan Hawthorne: Watch, this would be some sick stuff. Watch Howie Roseman like dish AJ Brown and then somehow get Chris Olave. Then you have Devante, Chris Olave and Mekai Lemon. I wouldn't put it past Howie Roseman to make it happen. Do they? Do they? Jarod McInroy: you three team trade. Because there's no way AJ Brown needs to be in New Orleans. But I like that. Nathan Hawthorne: No, I'm saying they trade him to New England still and then how he just works out something else. So maybe he uses some of those picks he gets for AJ Brown. Could be interesting. KYP, heard it here first. Chris Olave is a Philadelphia Eagle. Up next, this gentleman is franchise tagged currently. He can be a little bit of a head case, but man, can this dude produce. We've got George Pickens from the Dallas Cowboys. Jarod McInroy: ⁓ yeah. Dude, I like it. Mm-hmm. This one needs time. This one needs time to marinate. Cause if he goes out and does it again, then I say you extend him. But if he's like, I'm holding out and I need a contract right now, I don't think you give him more than two years, like three, it's he's going to need at least three. Um, and he's gonna, you're going to have to overpay for him. Um, but if it's so, if it's like right now, you gotta either give me the money or I'm out of here, would say walk. But if we are allowing this some time to marinate, you know, as the season goes on, if he keeps producing, sign him up. If we're going strictly off of last year's numbers, assuming he's gonna keep doing it, then we're locking him in. ⁓ Nathan Hawthorne: 93 for 1510 tuggies, that's pretty good. Jarod McInroy: That's a, it's a great year. And we, we knew what he could do, man. Like there was no question about it. ⁓ it was just, it was the on the field stuff. And also like Pittsburgh for whatever reason brings up the worst in some people. And it's like, maybe it was just an environment thing. ⁓ it's almost exclusively wide receivers. ⁓ it also brings out the best in others. Juju, ⁓ chase Claypool out of nowhere. Like, but. Nathan Hawthorne: in their wide receivers. Yeah, for five minutes. Martavis Bryant. Okay, George Pickens. Yeah, I hear that. You want to see the production continue, but he can be a little bit hard to commit to. He doesn't want to play under this franchise tag. So maybe you're thinking you assign him long term and then you dish him. A little bit of a sign and trade kind of action. I don't know. We will see. Up next. This team is well structured, but they got to pay some guys. They've got a Jarod McInroy: Regardless. Martavius Bryant, great receiver. Nathan Hawthorne: high level of talent across the board. We're talking Drake London, we're talking Bijon Robinson. You owe Kirk Cousins a little bit of cash. Kyle Pitts, do you extend him or do you let him go? Because he's going to want wide receiver money. You let him walk. Even though he just had 88 catches and almost a thousand yards, he finally produced maybe to a level that his inside the top 10 ranking slaughtered him in for. Jarod McInroy: Walk. Yes. You let him walk and let me tell you why. The Falcons are too far. Their roster is not there yet. They have a lot of holes to fill and I think the mature move sometimes is moving on from a player that you know is a good player for you to better your future. And some team is going to win the lottery and they're going to get cow pits for whatever the price is. ⁓ And they're going to turn them into a great tight end and they're gonna give them money that the Falcons don't have. I don't think the Falcons are in a position to extend them to some crazy contract. ⁓ And if you do, you're committing to somebody and you're taking food off of somebody else's plate. So good luck. Jarod McInroy: Sometimes you need a friendly face to center you, to get you back into the game you love, to have fun, especially when it comes to a wide receiver and quarterback tandem. ⁓ If he's coming to the commander's, I say, we're going to give you two years. We're going to give you the money you deserve because you are a proven wide receiver that is going to go opposite of Terry McLaurin and you guys are going to eat together. It's going to be a great marriage. the commanders are back on top, you pay him. Any other team, you do not give him a dollar outside of whatever the minimum one year is, because what he has done, what he has done in San Francisco is egregious. I don't know what is happening in that building, and maybe I'm taking it out on him. I'm sure the 49ers are also equally responsible for this, but ⁓ my gosh, to just fully Nathan Hawthorne: He's getting 1.25 right now. Jarod McInroy: We're staying in the NFL. I don't have such a catchy name. Right now, we're gonna workshop it. Right now, I'm gonna call it fact or false. It's gonna be very simple and it's gonna be straightforward of what it is. Just like cold beer and cheeseburgers. You know what you're gonna get there. You're gonna go there and that's exactly what they're gonna have. Shout out ⁓ cold beer and cheeseburgers in ⁓ ⁓ Nathan Hawthorne: Yes, of course. Okay. Send us a T-shirt. Jarod McInroy: Fact or false? It can be because you have another answer or because you just don't think it's true. You don't necessarily need an answer. I'm just going to simply read out a sentence and you say whether it's true or false basically and you can go into as much depth as you want or not. Are you ready for number one? Nathan Hawthorne: Okay, let's hear it. Jarod McInroy: The best division in the NFL is the NFC West. Nathan Hawthorne: False. The AFC West is the best division. Jarod McInroy: and you believe that in your whole heart. Nathan Hawthorne: I believe that. I think the top of the AFC West right now is going to be the Chiefs. I think the Chargers are still going to be a great team, even after all the injuries they had last year, still winning 10 games. And then you're going to have the Broncos coming back. That's the best division in football to me right now. And NFC West is close, but you've got the Rams and the Seahawks, again, two Super Bowl contending teams. But then the bottom, think, is just a little bit worse. Jarod McInroy: Do know how many times the team that has represented the NFC in the last, what would it be, six years now has come from the NFC West? Nathan Hawthorne: No, I don't doubt it. They're not a bad ball club. Jarod McInroy: The 49ers twice, the Rams won one, and the Seahawks are the most recent champion. But I'm not here to argue with you. This is your thing. You tell me, is it a fact or false? So if you say the A F C West, all right. No need to say anything more, all right. Here's your next one. The best receivers in the NFL are in this order. Nathan Hawthorne: You know? I think it's false. I think it's false. Jarod McInroy: the best wide receivers. 1A and 1B are Jettas and Jamar. I'm not going to... that's the order. Number three is... Nathan Hawthorne: Thank you for making them 1A and 1B by the way. Thank you for doing that. Jarod McInroy: Yes, of course. That argument is too much for me. It's a pick-em. Okay. Best receivers in the NFL. 1A, 1B, Jedis, Jamar. Number three, JSN. Number four, Puka. And five, Amon, Ras, St. Brown. Nathan Hawthorne: I'm gonna say true, because I can't really argue it right now. I mean, there's other guys that you could toss in there, but then it just gets really subjective, I think. So for me, again, having your top three is great. You're Justin Jefferson, you're Jamar Chase, you're 1A, 1B, and then Jackson Smith and Jigba. And then I think that's it. Puka Nakua I haven't seen outside of an offense that also made a triple crown winner in Cooper Cup. Amon Ra St. Brown I think is... Excellent CD lamb another guy who I think is excellent like there's a lot of really good wide receivers in the league I think that those three in particular right now are just a tier up from the others I used to think AJ Brown was up there, but I just it's been hard. He's had a tough situation He's made the situation tougher over the past couple years. That's it. That's gonna be difficult You thought Marvin Harrison jr. Might get there. He didn't get there or he's not there yet. Who knows what he's gonna look like this year. But yeah, that top three I think is vicious right now. Jarod McInroy: Yeah, the the five spot is where where I really like kind of sit down and think and i'm like I really think that amanra has proven himself to earn that fifth spot because He runs chris sprouts. He catches everything thrown his direction He blocks insanely well a big piece of his game in a really run heavy offense ⁓ All right, so we're going true we got one Nathan Hawthorne: Yeah. Yeah, you could you could even think about like a healthy. ⁓ Let's see, where's my list here? You got like a healthy Nikko Collins. He could make a challenge this year for being in that top tier if you get a healthy. Let's see who else is down here. Jarod McInroy: Listen, don't need it. Nathan Hawthorne: ⁓ my gosh, Drake London. A healthy Drake London was the name I was going for. He could. A healthy Drake London, good quarterback to own on football. Maybe, but yeah, think now we're over engineering it, you had it. You had the list. Jarod McInroy: Alright, here's your next one. Here's your next one. The best offensive rookie of the year in the last four years is CJ Stroud. And let me tell you the other names just so you have them. Jaden Daniels, Tett McMillan, and Garrett Wilson. Who's the best offensive rookie of the year of those four names? Nathan Hawthorne: Mm-hmm. I think Jayden Daniels. False. It's false. Jayden Daniels was the best. He revived that Washington commander's team. They were so electric. They come from behind wins. Again, changing this stinky dynamic that had been with the Washington commander. So it's not just stats here for Jayden Daniels. It was making electric plays. People started calling him Michael Vick for a minute there. CJ Stroud was just slinging the rock pretty solid. He had a good wide receiving core, but there was nowhere near the electricity surrounding Jaden Daniels. Jarod McInroy: Okay. All right. I'm not gonna argue with you any further. I know your firm stance on CJ Stroud now though. This episode has been very telling. Nathan Hawthorne: I didn't, there was no firm stance. All I did was ask a question. You made a statement, I asked a question, you know? Those were two things that happened related to CJ Stroud. Jarod McInroy: Yeah. All right. All right. Next one up. Next one up. And this is more of a projection one. Joe Burrow will win comeback player of the year in 2026 and he will play 15 or more regular season games. Nathan Hawthorne: I want to say false just because I'm not sure he's going to play 15 games. That's the biggest thing. Comeback player of the year could be likely. I don't think that's asking a lot out of him. He's done it before because of these injuries that he's had. And again, he's one of the best quarterbacks in the league when healthy. So him winning comeback player of the year isn't going to be shocking. I think you could look at another name, like maybe like an Aiden Hutchinson coming back. ⁓ Sam Laporta, I think he missed like half the year because he had that lumbar injury. I'm trying to think of who else would be up there. Patrick Mahomes. mean, the script is writing itself for Patrick Mahomes to be comeback player of the year. there's a Bo Nicks played every game but one. You know, but yeah, comeback player of the year. If it's not Joe Burrow, it's probably going to be Patrick Mahomes. You know, they. Jarod McInroy: Nick Bosa, Bo- Bo- Nicks. Nathan Hawthorne: If they can put another award in Patrick Mahomes trophy case, the NFL is going to do it. They finally like that's an award you never want to give somebody. But now that he has the opportunity. ⁓ for sure. Forget it. Hey, everybody listen, not financial advice here. Take out all the money you have and put it on Patrick Mahomes to win comeback player of the year. I'm going to do that right after this. Jarod McInroy: Okay. Here's the final one and this one's gonna be just our closing statement of the pod in general so you make this one a good one. I need your firm stance on this. Wins are a QB stat. Nathan Hawthorne: fact, wins are indeed a QB stat. Somebody's got to throw the ball. Somebody's got to hand the ball off. Somebody has to control and dictate the offense like a great point guard. Can you control the flow of the game? Can you get your offense into a play that's going to be successful? Tom Brady talks about it. There's times the play is called does not work against the defense. Can you get yourself out of it and into a play that works? There's times where, hey, I know that we can't afford to score quickly here. Our defense is gassed. Jarod McInroy: Elaborate. Nathan Hawthorne: I could take this big ball, but I'm going to take this little six yard route. I'm going to get the first down, but I'm not trying to score quick. that's what makes wins a QB stat is your ability to lead the team and not just on the field, but off the field. Who are you at the podium? Are you lifting your guys up in the locker room? Are you lifting them up on the podium? Are you taking responsibility for things going wrong? Are you doing everything you can inside and outside the building to win? Therefore, wins are a Q. There's no teams that have the only team I can think of that had a bad team that had an amazing quarterback was the Lions. But at the same time, Matt Safford was also throwing a lot of picks at that time and there was a lot more dysfunction involved. But again, the great quarterbacks rise above. Joe Burrow took a dirt team to championship level caliber. Justin Herbert first year took the Chargers to the playoffs. You see me sneak that one in there? Jarod McInroy: Whoa. A dirt tube. Jeez, man. Nathan Hawthorne: That Chargers team he came into with Anthony Lin and Tyrod Taylor, that was a dirt team. And then he got handed, we're not gonna go into this. It's not the time for it. yeah, wins are a quarterback stat because they have the biggest ability to transform and impact a game. A wide receiver goes out, the line shifts maybe a half a point. Quarterbacks go out, you start seeing the game, yeah. Jarod McInroy: Seven point swings. Yeah. Nathan Hawthorne: touchdowns five six seven yeah it's quarterback set it is indeed a quarterback set Jarod McInroy: For what it's worth, agree with you. I think ⁓ the way in which they award the win or loss is flawed. ⁓ As we've seen in the past, whoever starts the game is kind of the guy who they hang it on. I think that's kind of weird and a crazy way of doing it. But ⁓ nonetheless, it's certainly a QB stat the same way. ⁓ We hang a win or a loss on a pitcher in the MLB and they collect wins and losses because They're the ones throwing the ball across the plate.
