- 0:00Happy Saturday morning, everybody.
- 0:04Man, I'll tell you what, I was tired.
- 0:08Oh, that trip coming back from Kabul is rough.
- 0:14We are unlucky. I love Saint Louis, but our
- 0:18airport is a little small, no direct flights.
- 0:22So we leave Kabul at 1:24. We get to Phoenix, 3 1/2 hour
- 0:28layover. So we got home last night
- 0:31literally at 11:59. Got got home, got to bed around
- 0:372. Woke up this morning and damn it
- 0:41was 10:00. So I'm sorry that I'm doing
- 0:47coffee with Kenny at at lunchtime.
- 0:50I never meant to make your daughter cry.
- 0:53I apologize a trillion times. Sorry, Miss Jackson, but I am
- 1:01for real. OK?
- 1:06I've had my banana this morning. I've had my killer Dade's toast
- 1:13soaked in a little bit of olive oil.
- 1:16Still drinking my coffee. Let me see.
- 1:19Let's see how much is left in there.
- 1:21Oh, yeah, we still. We're still looking good.
- 1:23So around 10:15 10/20 I started scrolling my phone.
- 1:30I'm pleasantly surprised and happy that I have some angry
- 1:35people that I can talk to today. Yay for me.
- 1:39Sometimes when you post something you're like, I don't
- 1:42know if this is going to stick or not.
- 1:45I found one that's stuck. I said I like I like stage
- 1:52racing and once again you all did not let me down.
- 1:57You lost your ever living mind. You crazy bastards.
- 2:03You guys bite every time. Now you gave me something to
- 2:06talk about. So let's talk about stage
- 2:09racing. Why do we have it?
- 2:15You know what's up? You know simply why do we have
- 2:18stage racing? As I always say, I've said it
- 2:22for years, I'm a leader. I fix, and when I fix it, I tell
- 2:28you why. I tell you what and where and
- 2:31when. Sometimes we have to understand
- 2:33history to understand why we got here.
- 2:36So what happened was there was this societal shift, meaning the
- 2:42word societal shift means that the world changed.
- 2:46The smartphone that I'm holding up right now, the smartphone
- 2:50came about Monster Jam. The trucks started doing
- 2:55backflips, snowmobile racing, they started doing backflips.
- 2:59The X Games came. All sports went wild.
- 3:05You know, the NFL, the NHL, Major League Baseball, everybody
- 3:09started changing, you know, all these new rules to to enhance
- 3:14the sport. Everything changed a little bit.
- 3:17Everything changed a little bit. New rules here and there for
- 3:22everything. All sports have changed a little
- 3:25bit. New rules.
- 3:27So NASCAR lost 70% of its fan base in 2006.
- 3:36That's when NASCAR went downhill.
- 3:37Now, we lost Dale Senior in 2000 and then Dale Junior carried
- 3:43carried the rise of NASCAR. One would have thought when Dale
- 3:47Senior died, that would have been it.
- 3:48No, it's opposite. 2006 is when the nosedive of NASCAR started.
- 3:56So NASCAR started looking around, going, man, we got to
- 3:59fix this sport. And one thing they found is that
- 4:03the new kids, not you old people, I'll tell you what, I'm
- 4:09having a good time with that one too.
- 4:13The young kids, they don't, they're hyperactive.
- 4:18They're like, they're like this. They're like me, you know,
- 4:21there, there's Monster Jam. Like I said, all that started
- 4:25getting real entertaining. So NASCAR's like, what do we got
- 4:28to do to keep people involved in the sport?
- 4:33You know, the biggest complaint was from the new crowd is, my
- 4:36God, these races are too long. All these cars do is go around
- 4:40in circles for like 4 and five hours.
- 4:44So stage racing came along because they thought OK, we'll
- 4:51stop the race for a minute. Stage racing, you go, let's say
- 4:55it's a 400 lap race just for 10 grands.
- 4:58So you, you stop at a lap 100, everybody makes a pit stop.
- 5:04The winner gets 10 points, 2nd place gets 9 points.
- 5:07You know, so the drivers drive harder.
- 5:11OK, you can get up, take a piss because you're going to take a
- 5:15piss, you know what I mean? And why you pissing and why you
- 5:19going to bathroom? They can still be racing and you
- 5:22might miss it and you're going to rewind it.
- 5:24So stage racing, help the hyperactive people with the
- 5:29sport and everybody likes it. Now there's some purist out
- 5:35there, some purist out there that they're like, I want to go
- 5:40back to the way it was. What's this about?
- 5:45Hey, Louis, what's wrong? Usually when he does this, that
- 5:51means he wants treats. Treat.
- 5:55Hold on, let me finish this. Hold on.
- 5:59I'll get you one. So the reason the reason stage
- 6:03racing came about was to make the drivers drive harder or
- 6:07longer, you know, because we're racing to that 100 lap mark,
- 6:12then we're going to go green again, then we're going to race
- 6:14to the 200 lap mark. So really it was a challenge to
- 6:17the drivers to drive harder at a longer period of time, make the
- 6:21racing more exciting. Second thing was to give you a
- 6:24chance to get up, go make something, take a piss.
- 6:29And I got to tell you, ever since stage racing came about, I
- 6:32like it. I like it because I just, I
- 6:35cannot imagine a time where we go back to the way it used to
- 6:40be. I, I just really like it.
- 6:44So once again, I'm a leader. I fix issues.
- 6:51I'm I'm a husband, I'm a dad. I got three daughters.
- 6:55I fix. That's why I'm a leader.
- 6:58And I agree with the leadership of NASCAR.
- 7:01Stage racing is here to stay. It's it's a it's an 8020 issue.
- 7:0880% of the people like stage racing and you 20 remember now
- 7:14I've given you this platform to argue.
- 7:16So come on, mother fuck me. You too.
- 7:21You too. I love stage racing and it's
- 7:26here to stay. And and I told you everything.
- 7:30I told you why it came about because all sports change and
- 7:35and NASCAR had to change to keep these hyperactive kids engaged
- 7:40in racing. It's not about you guys.
- 7:42It's not about exactly what you want.
- 7:44It's about the totality. So I understand that you want
- 7:49what you want, you know, because you're 50 to 70 years old and
- 7:52you want to go back to the old days.
- 7:54And I get it. But you're wishing in one hand,
- 7:58you're in the other. See, I deal with real time.
- 8:02You guys go. I want to go back to the old
- 8:05days. You're exhausting yourself.
- 8:09OK, Now respond right here. Mother me back and maybe
- 8:14tomorrow I'll mother you back. I truly love you guys.
- 8:20Thanks for playing along and engaging and all right, How
- 8:27shall I? Let me see what's how am I going
- 8:30to. How am I going to tag this one?
- 8:32I love stage racing. That's enough to piss you off.
