- 0:00Speaker 1: Sorry, no skating tonight.
- 0:04Speaker 2: What to come here on Saturday night to clean the
- 0:06Speaker 2: ice losers.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Actually it's called curling. Players slid the heavy stones towards
- 0:11Speaker 3: the circle or house as teammates controlled the direction and
- 0:13Speaker 3: speed of the stone by sweeping in front of it
- 0:15Speaker 3: with a special room march.
- 0:18Speaker 4: It's perfect for both of us.
- 0:19Speaker 1: It's got balling for me and sweeping for you.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Four Finger Discounted.
- 0:40Speaker 4: Welcome to four Finger Discount, where this week we hit
- 0:42Speaker 4: the review Boy Mets Curl, which is kind of relevant
- 0:45Speaker 4: now because we just had the Winter Olympics and here
- 0:48Speaker 4: the Simpsons are on their way to Vancouver to apparently
- 0:50Speaker 4: represent Team USA in curling.
- 0:52Speaker 1: I'm Dando and I'm Guy, and I was about to
- 0:54Speaker 1: say this episode is now irrelevant because the Winter Olympics
- 0:58Speaker 1: have been over for some time.
- 0:59Speaker 4: But were they ever relevant? Shout out to all of
- 1:02Speaker 4: our Winter Olympians out there.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Australia actually did quite well. Australia above its weight in
- 1:07Speaker 1: the Winter Olympics. Given that we are not regarded as
- 1:09Speaker 1: a particularly wintery country.
- 1:11Speaker 4: We were all surprised when on the news vers they
- 1:14Speaker 4: were going we we did well.
- 1:17Speaker 1: We actually did well.
- 1:18Speaker 4: That was what we want something we did. Well, yeah,
- 1:21Speaker 4: who was the guy that won that race where everyone
- 1:24Speaker 4: else fell over? And he's Steve somewere Steve, I want to.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Say, Steve Bradbury.
- 1:27Speaker 4: That's the one. Yeah, what an absolute champion.
- 1:32Speaker 1: But it's funny watching the televised Australian coverage of the
- 1:36Speaker 1: of the Winter Olympics, it was like, and here's Steve Bradrey.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Every four years they go and visit this guy or
- 1:43Speaker 1: I think lives up northern Queensland. I think he owns
- 1:44Speaker 1: are put up in Queensland, the least wintery place in Australia,
- 1:48Speaker 1: which is the least wintery place in the world. Well
- 1:50Speaker 1: not necessarily, but you know what I mean. And yeah,
- 1:52Speaker 1: he's got himself a new head of hair and all
- 1:54Speaker 1: this kind of stuff, and he's like speaking like a
- 1:57Speaker 1: real authority. On the Winter Olympics, there was very much
- 2:00Speaker 1: a thing was like he was kind of regarded as
- 2:02Speaker 1: a lucky guy for everyone else in his race, kind
- 2:05Speaker 1: of falling over. This speed skating event, goes through and
- 2:10Speaker 1: wins a gold medals.
- 2:11Speaker 4: He's not even like he doesn't feel bad about it either,
- 2:15Speaker 4: But why should he He should not, because he is
- 2:18Speaker 4: the thing.
- 2:18Speaker 1: He's the thing that kept coming up both him and
- 2:21Speaker 1: all his other fellow athletes were saying, what you're not
- 2:26Speaker 1: seeing is the hours and hours and hours and years
- 2:29Speaker 1: and weeks and months of effort that went into his
- 2:32Speaker 1: training and his preparation and all that kind of stuff
- 2:34Speaker 1: and really just came down to, you know, a bunch
- 2:36Speaker 1: of people fall out. The other thing was, and this
- 2:38Speaker 1: really sort of weirded me out about the Winter Olympics,
- 2:41Speaker 1: but certainly when it came to speed skating and things
- 2:42Speaker 1: like that, with people falling over as well, there's a
- 2:45Speaker 1: chance that you will either nick yourself with your blades
- 2:51Speaker 1: or someone else. I mean, there was some guy who
- 2:53Speaker 1: actually really got his throat.
- 2:54Speaker 4: Cut by skate have it in hockey a guy lost
- 2:58Speaker 4: his life a couple of years ago, got slice on
- 3:00Speaker 4: the neck, I believe. Yeah, it's scary.
- 3:02Speaker 1: It looked pretty naily, yeah, I must admit. I mean
- 3:05Speaker 1: I'm not a huge Olympics guy in general, but I
- 3:08Speaker 1: kind of enjoyed watching these Winter Olympics. I mean, the
- 3:11Speaker 1: sports are really sort of entertaining and fun. I saw
- 3:13Speaker 1: none of them. Yeah, you know, doing the moguls, you
- 3:17Speaker 1: gotta do a little flip in there as well, and.
- 3:20Speaker 4: I'm with it. I always get really pumped for the
- 3:22Speaker 4: actual Olympics as well the Summer Olympics, and then they're
- 3:24Speaker 4: on and I just don't seem to watch as much
- 3:26Speaker 4: as I think I'm going to, because it's like you
- 3:29Speaker 4: watch any sport whenever you want live and I'm like, yeah,
- 3:32Speaker 4: where's the Simpsons marathon? That's what That's what the Olympics
- 3:36Speaker 4: meant for kids. I mean the Fox that were like, well,
- 3:38Speaker 4: no one's gonna be watching anything but the Olympics. Let's
- 3:40Speaker 4: just spike the Simpsons.
- 3:40Speaker 1: So this particular episode sort of was the best of
- 3:43Speaker 1: all worlds for you, and it was like, Okay, we
- 3:46Speaker 1: get that Winter Olympics feeling, but also Simpsons.
- 3:48Speaker 4: I remember. It's funny. I couldn't remember the name Steve Bradby,
- 3:51Speaker 4: but as soon as you said it, I remember. I
- 3:53Speaker 4: think it was like year eight when it happened for me.
- 3:55Speaker 4: I was in year eight. I remember we made a song,
- 3:57Speaker 4: wouldn't it be nice to be Steve watching everybody fall over?
- 4:05Speaker 1: More power to him? He's got that gold.
- 4:07Speaker 4: Yes, yes, indeed, apparently so margin Homer are good enough
- 4:11Speaker 4: to represent America in Curly in this episode. I'm watching
- 4:13Speaker 4: this going, I'm getting D two vibes My Ducks two
- 4:16Speaker 4: because I watched this recently with the kids, and I
- 4:18Speaker 4: love the My Ducks movies. No, nostalgia plays a big
- 4:20Speaker 4: role in that. But I watched his going this bunch
- 4:23Speaker 4: of riff raff representing team USA. How why they won
- 4:30Speaker 4: a district league and now they're representing the country.
- 4:32Speaker 1: What happens in D two? They've actually got sort of
- 4:34Speaker 1: bumped up a notch too.
- 4:35Speaker 4: Yeah, they've gone from District five the money Ducks. They've
- 4:37Speaker 4: got the changes off to the Ducks and like, you
- 4:40Speaker 4: guys are good, we like your story. You can represent
- 4:42Speaker 4: Team USA at the Summer Olympics whatever it is that
- 4:45Speaker 4: junior summer.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Is it revealed any stage throughout D two because I
- 4:48Speaker 1: have not watched it, Okay, you should then the death
- 4:53Speaker 1: Strewn I watched it. I go, this is absolute ludicrous.
- 4:59Speaker 1: But at any stage is there some cynical person going, hey,
- 5:03Speaker 1: you guys are really that good. But we liked your
- 5:06Speaker 1: story and we knew we could sell it. Oh and that,
- 5:08Speaker 1: but that would then give the mry Ducks the motivation.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Well we'll show them and actually did really well.
- 5:13Speaker 4: No, they just get really ahead of themselves because they
- 5:15Speaker 4: can beat all the other countries, and then they start losing.
- 5:18Speaker 4: The coach Bombay starts having a love affair with the
- 5:22Speaker 4: co coach of the Iceland team, so that in the
- 5:25Speaker 4: first one it was the Hawks, they were all black,
- 5:27Speaker 4: and then then this one it's it's the Iceland team
- 5:30Speaker 4: and it's a guy. None of them are actually from Iceland,
- 5:32Speaker 4: and they're putting on funny accents. I think, actually, I
- 5:33Speaker 4: think the female is an Icelandic actress, but everyone else
- 5:36Speaker 4: is just an American together, mate, your eyes on the prize.
- 5:41Speaker 4: He gets ahead of himself. He's like, I'm a success
- 5:44Speaker 4: financially now, and he's more interested in the perks of
- 5:46Speaker 4: being famous as opposed to coaching the team.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Oh, he lost he lost sight.
- 5:50Speaker 4: He lost sight of what's what it means to be
- 5:51Speaker 4: coach Bombay.
- 5:52Speaker 1: But I guess if he found his way back by
- 5:54Speaker 1: the end, but he does.
- 5:54Speaker 4: Indeed, Yes, it was two and that's I think. When
- 5:57Speaker 4: did the Animaheim Ducks become the Anaheim d.
- 6:01Speaker 1: You're asking because usually I was google that they because
- 6:05Speaker 1: they called Team USA in this movie.
- 6:06Speaker 4: And at the end, like, I know how we can
- 6:08Speaker 4: get back in this and they come out and they're
- 6:10Speaker 4: all wearing Ducks jerseys like it's the Ducks are back.
- 6:17Speaker 1: I'm watching who the fuck of the Ducks?
- 6:20Speaker 4: And they'reart saying we will quack you.
- 6:24Speaker 1: I'm going to take it back. I don't think I
- 6:25Speaker 1: should watch t.
- 6:27Speaker 4: Who played Keenan from Keenan and Cal Is on SNL.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Keenan he's actually, of course it is. Yeah, he plays
- 6:33Speaker 4: he plays the knuckle pot kid. It's just the little
- 6:36Speaker 4: fat kid do they find at the local basketball court
- 6:39Speaker 4: and he joins the guys done well.
- 6:41Speaker 1: He's I don't know how long he's been on SNL
- 6:44Speaker 1: all the time, like twenty something a year. Good for him?
- 6:47Speaker 1: Oh yeah, man, you find a gigstick to it. Yeah yeah,
- 6:49Speaker 1: you said that SNL UK is starting, So I.
- 6:53Speaker 4: Thought its already. Han't already? I had an episode or something.
- 6:55Speaker 1: No, no, I think it starts. If not this week,
- 6:57Speaker 1: then next week. They've imported like Tina f to be
- 7:00Speaker 1: the host for the first episode.
- 7:02Speaker 4: I saw someone like why now, why not forty five
- 7:03Speaker 4: years ago when it might have been relevant? Now speaking
- 7:08Speaker 4: of relevant, boy, Betsy, we've been recording, probably been five
- 7:14Speaker 4: minutes now recording.
- 7:15Speaker 1: That's the question. That's good becaues they recording down there?
- 7:18Speaker 1: The red light means an rage. No, the numbers are
- 7:25Speaker 1: ticking over were certainly recorded, like we went greed means girl?
- 7:31Speaker 4: Right, is it actually recording?
- 7:35Speaker 1: Okay, we're at We're at the seven minute.
- 7:39Speaker 4: Yeah, that's good, okay, seven fifteen. So I haven't really
- 7:43Speaker 4: written many detailed notes about this. When I was taking
- 7:46Speaker 4: my notes last night for it, I again, I enjoy
- 7:49Speaker 4: when Homer and marjor Good as a team together.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Right. I knew you were going to say it, right.
- 7:52Speaker 1: I was like, Dano will like this episode, or will
- 7:55Speaker 1: like the foundation of this episode.
- 7:58Speaker 4: I thought that this was going to become a Marge
- 8:02Speaker 4: ends up despising Homer, and it almost does to an extent,
- 8:04Speaker 4: but it came out of nowhere and unjustified. Yeah. She
- 8:07Speaker 4: was just like, everything I do with you, it always
- 8:10Speaker 4: ends it bad for me. And I'm like, wait, what,
- 8:12Speaker 4: Literally thirty seconds ago you were saying how his love
- 8:15Speaker 4: of your life and life's great with home, blah blah blah.
- 8:17Speaker 4: Now you're saying this because you hurt your shoulder.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Yeah. Now, admittedly, I think there's the germ of a
- 8:25Speaker 1: good idea in that, in that you know these who
- 8:28Speaker 1: have joined the curling team. One is better than the other,
- 8:32Speaker 1: one is sort of holding the other up, or one's
- 8:34Speaker 1: a bit of a bit of a passenger.
- 8:36Speaker 4: How are they representing the country? That's my throw logic
- 8:41Speaker 4: at them. Simpsons go to the Olympics, which.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Not just why a Homer and margin? Why Edna and
- 8:48Speaker 1: Seymour Edna Anes? Sorry, not ed?
- 8:51Speaker 4: And that's another problem I have with this episode. Oh yes,
- 8:54Speaker 4: just unnecessary hate towards Skinner all the time, to the
- 8:58Speaker 4: point where this isn't funny. This is just she's a
- 9:00Speaker 4: horrible person.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Forgive the adult language here, but I've written down here. Wow,
- 9:06Speaker 1: fuck Agnes, I'm sorry, she was just a terrible, terrible person.
- 9:10Speaker 1: And then later on, I'm sorry that we'll get to
- 9:13Speaker 1: it when we get to it, but unearned redemption out
- 9:17Speaker 1: of nowhere, which is something you actually could have built on.
- 9:19Speaker 4: Yeah, but it was just like I've now realized that
- 9:23Speaker 4: you know I love you? When when did you realize it?
- 9:26Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 9:26Speaker 4: You hated in like last time we spoke to me.
- 9:28Speaker 1: I'm sorry, You've got I know You've only got twenty
- 9:31Speaker 1: two minutes or however long this episode actually runs to
- 9:33Speaker 1: tell this story. I'm sure there's these moments. Yeah, you've
- 9:37Speaker 1: got to earn it. Like Tom Hanks said in Saving
- 9:39Speaker 1: Priort Ryan, You've got to earn this.
- 9:41Speaker 4: It did just feel like, you know, the Winter Olympics
- 9:43Speaker 4: are on, let's tie it in. That was the whole
- 9:45Speaker 4: point of this.
- 9:46Speaker 1: So you've got these two parallel storyline. Well actually, I
- 9:49Speaker 1: mean yeah, I guess the A plot is is Homer
- 9:53Speaker 1: and Marge at the Olympics, and the bat plot is
- 9:56Speaker 1: Lisa getting addicted to Olympic pins.
- 9:58Speaker 4: Like I said about that, I'm a better in saying
- 10:01Speaker 4: that relatable. I look at the studio, I can I
- 10:08Speaker 4: lie to just the idea of getting addicted to collecting
- 10:11Speaker 4: ship and how easy it is because you see these
- 10:13Speaker 4: things in the newspapers all the time. They go get
- 10:15Speaker 4: this this day's or this month, so this week's pin
- 10:17Speaker 4: or poster and stuff. As a kid, I was like,
- 10:19Speaker 4: I've got to collect them all.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Oh, look, you you're talking to someone who will spending
- 10:24Speaker 1: far more time on eBay than he should or yeah,
- 10:27Speaker 1: would have been buying blues yeah, blue rays. Yeah. Yeah,
- 10:31Speaker 1: because there are some that Amazon won't won't pick up, yeah,
- 10:34Speaker 1: but eBay will. Yeah.
- 10:37Speaker 4: I know eBay have done recently too. You watch something
- 10:39Speaker 4: right and it will go just so you know someone
- 10:42Speaker 4: else started watching this item. You're like, no, you know
- 10:45Speaker 4: that traveled in his mind.
- 10:48Speaker 1: The feeling you could spend you could probably exercise three
- 10:52Speaker 1: to four minutes out of the Lisa is addicted to
- 10:55Speaker 1: Olympic pins story and flesh out the relationship between see
- 11:00Speaker 1: Moore and Agnes a bit more that storyline, or a
- 11:04Speaker 1: bit more with margin Homer.
- 11:07Speaker 4: So I was reading here on the wiki page that
- 11:09Speaker 4: the original plan was for the Homer to be in
- 11:11Speaker 4: a four man Bob sled team as a I guess
- 11:13Speaker 4: a cool Runnings parody. I probably could have bought into
- 11:16Speaker 4: that more than this, and it would have been confusing
- 11:19Speaker 4: for You're doing a Winter Olympics episode the first ever
- 11:22Speaker 4: time with the Winter Olympics, there was no couples or
- 11:25Speaker 4: was no teamed curling event at the Olympics at that
- 11:31Speaker 4: point in time.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Oh okay, So they basically had to invent a sport
- 11:35Speaker 1: or a variation on.
- 11:36Speaker 4: A sport the writers artistic license because although curling is
- 11:40Speaker 4: an Olympic sport, mixed doubles, which is featured in the episode,
- 11:42Speaker 4: was not an Olympic event at the time.
- 11:44Speaker 1: This airing.
- 11:45Speaker 4: It did debut eight years later. However, in the episode,
- 11:47Speaker 4: it explained that the event is being held as a
- 11:49Speaker 4: demonstration sport. They do say that I was wondering why
- 11:51Speaker 4: it's a demonstration sport again.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Yeah, so curling is just so odd to me. I'm
- 11:56Speaker 1: trying to understand the physics of it and just sort
- 11:59Speaker 1: of can't get my head around it. It's entertaining and
- 12:02Speaker 1: it's like hell yeah, I mean, it's got a real
- 12:05Speaker 1: curiosity about what is this? What are you guys doing.
- 12:08Speaker 1: I'm sure the people who do curling take it very,
- 12:10Speaker 1: very seriously, particularly in Canada, where they love it or
- 12:13Speaker 1: I don't love it, but you know, it's certainly taken seriously.
- 12:18Speaker 1: There's a whole movie about it called Men with Brooms.
- 12:19Speaker 4: Getting visions of like kids laying it home in their
- 12:21Speaker 4: beds with posters of curlers well on the wadies box. Yeah,
- 12:30Speaker 4: shout all the curlers out there.
- 12:33Speaker 1: That I had. Props to you, guys and gals. I
- 12:37Speaker 1: don't know, you maybe need a better representation than this episode.
- 12:41Speaker 1: I don't know. I wanted to like this episode more
- 12:44Speaker 1: than I did because the things that you're bringing up
- 12:46Speaker 1: that you disliked about it. There certainly things that I
- 12:48Speaker 1: disliked about it, and particularly yeah, I think I think
- 12:50Speaker 1: the ag and stuff really just left a bad taste
- 12:52Speaker 1: in my mouth.
- 12:53Speaker 4: I think they built to the problem. The problem is
- 12:56Speaker 4: to happen in the second act, and the problem with
- 12:58Speaker 4: March hourning it happened really near the end, and when
- 13:03Speaker 4: the episode's over, you kind of go, did we even
- 13:05Speaker 4: need that injury? Because yes, she uses her other arm,
- 13:08Speaker 4: but it's it's all exactly the same.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Yeah it didn't.
- 13:11Speaker 4: It created like a moment of tension for like, it
- 13:14Speaker 4: goes for like ninety seconds, the tension, and it's just like,
- 13:16Speaker 4: you know what, I'm good with my other arm. I
- 13:18Speaker 4: can do this.
- 13:19Speaker 1: And you're like, why what I mean?
- 13:22Speaker 4: I would might even need that because when they go
- 13:24Speaker 4: we're having the forfeit ceremony and Marge goes not so fast.
- 13:28Speaker 1: It's like that was it was so blinking you miss
- 13:31Speaker 1: it very much.
- 13:32Speaker 4: So if you went to the you literally turned off
- 13:34Speaker 4: for like ninety seconds, you would forget that whole subplot
- 13:37Speaker 4: of Marge's angry at home.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Now I get the film. There's a whole bunch of
- 13:40Speaker 1: good ideas in here. I mean, I don't dislike the
- 13:44Speaker 1: notion of I mean, it's very far fetched about Agnes
- 13:48Speaker 1: being a champion pole vaulter who whose dreams of Olympic
- 13:52Speaker 1: glory were sort of quashed by Ah, yeah, I was
- 13:56Speaker 1: pregnant and Seawa decides to kick one time and it
- 13:58Speaker 1: knocks the bar of and oh I'd lose.
- 14:00Speaker 4: We're going to discuss that scene as well.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Yeah. I like the foundation, I like the the the
- 14:07Speaker 1: core of that idea. It's like, I could have been great,
- 14:09Speaker 1: but now I've got this baby, and that's that's the
- 14:11Speaker 1: origins of my disdain from my son. Yeah, yeah, which
- 14:14Speaker 1: is like a running gag. Now, admittedly, you've got to
- 14:17Speaker 1: revert to the status quo as we always talk about,
- 14:20Speaker 1: you know, it's always got to be the way that
- 14:21Speaker 1: Agne is going to be, like seem why are you suck?
- 14:24Speaker 1: It's like, okay, we've got to get back back to
- 14:26Speaker 1: that at the end.
- 14:27Speaker 4: The problem is we've seen them have redemption stories where
- 14:29Speaker 4: they've got where she's gone. I'm sorry, I know I've
- 14:32Speaker 4: been too tough on you in the past, so when
- 14:35Speaker 4: you go back to it's kind of like we've been
- 14:37Speaker 4: here before, We've done this before.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean The best example of this kind of
- 14:43Speaker 1: family dynamic, this kind of toxic family dynamic mother and
- 14:46Speaker 1: son in particular, is in thirty Rock with Jack Donahan
- 14:49Speaker 1: and Alibaman's character and his mum, who you know, she's
- 14:53Speaker 1: constantly on his constantly yeah yeah, and she's and he's
- 14:57Speaker 1: giving it back to her as well, and the moments
- 15:00Speaker 1: when they do sort of bond, it's like, oh, you
- 15:03Speaker 1: guys are similar enough. We can see that you actually
- 15:05Speaker 1: do love each other. You know, the fact that you're
- 15:07Speaker 1: so hateful makes you love each other, but occasionally you'll
- 15:09Speaker 1: direct that hate at each other. With these two, I'm
- 15:12Speaker 1: just I don't understand it, and I certainly don't understand
- 15:16Speaker 1: of this.
- 15:16Speaker 4: Episode with comedy, particularly when it comes to like, you know,
- 15:20Speaker 4: someone being mean to another, if you're feeling sympathetic towards
- 15:23Speaker 4: the other person, it's not funny anymore. No, And I
- 15:26Speaker 4: was found myself feeling sympathetic towards Skinner this entire time,
- 15:29Speaker 4: even making the jokes of you know, this unconscious reflex
- 15:32Speaker 4: reflex in the in utero that was you know, inconceivable.
- 15:35Speaker 4: It's like, no, it wasn't like it's sad that got
- 15:39Speaker 4: yourself a breakman. Yeah, and I just it wasn't even
- 15:42Speaker 4: coming across as a simp. He was just coming across
- 15:43Speaker 4: as a victim of abuse. Essentially, wasn't here much and
- 15:47Speaker 4: she had there was no justification for it, the way
- 15:49Speaker 4: she was young at him all the time, and I
- 15:50Speaker 4: was went and then at the end she just goes.
- 15:52Speaker 4: I thought, when you fucked up at the end when
- 15:54Speaker 4: the stick broke, and she's like, oh, I realized I
- 15:56Speaker 4: love you now. I thought there was gonna be some
- 15:57Speaker 4: sort of rug pull here, and now she's no, it's like, oh,
- 15:59Speaker 4: I'm gonna take it for pizza and icegain. And I
- 16:01Speaker 4: was like, when did this happen? We didn't even get
- 16:05Speaker 4: like the the tease of her potentially changing her mind,
- 16:08Speaker 4: seeing the error of her ways. It's just like on
- 16:11Speaker 4: what she likes him now?
- 16:13Speaker 1: Yeah? What So that didn't make a whole lot of sense. Yea,
- 16:16Speaker 1: So yeah, when you've got this redemption moment at the end,
- 16:19Speaker 1: so well you're not you think you're stick in the
- 16:21Speaker 1: landing here you're not. And likewise almost with Homer as well.
- 16:24Speaker 1: I mean, I would have liked the idea of these
- 16:27Speaker 1: two working together all the way through. Maybe one's better
- 16:31Speaker 1: than the other. As I pointed out earlier, you know,
- 16:32Speaker 1: Marge is the real sort of the real driver here
- 16:34Speaker 1: and Homer's doing his best, which it's probably it was
- 16:39Speaker 1: one of my favorite moments. Oh he tries his best. Well,
- 16:41Speaker 1: that's why he's never going to get any better. At
- 16:44Speaker 1: the end, Homer didn't even really have to try. He
- 16:47Speaker 1: was so good. No, I mean, it would have been
- 16:49Speaker 1: nice for him to sort of like, oh, Marge's trying
- 16:52Speaker 1: to say, I need to try more, I need to
- 16:53Speaker 1: do it, give him a little bit of a win.
- 16:56Speaker 1: I mean, I know this is mostly Marge's win, but
- 16:59Speaker 1: it felt like, yeah, we always talk about say I
- 17:02Speaker 1: think we bringd the Fraser example, it's like, stop treating
- 17:04Speaker 1: this guy like a three legged dog, giving a little
- 17:06Speaker 1: pet on the head for the for the effort or whatever.
- 17:09Speaker 1: I felt that way about Homer in this. It's like
- 17:10Speaker 1: you should be trying a bit harder. And you mentioned
- 17:13Speaker 1: that as Quoe before.
- 17:15Speaker 4: If I'm writing this episode right, and I could be wrong,
- 17:19Speaker 4: but it all take is just one line. But you
- 17:22Speaker 4: need to explain why margin Homer are retiring from the
- 17:25Speaker 4: sport now because you watch this and you go they
- 17:28Speaker 4: have just one gold at the Olympics. Why would they
- 17:30Speaker 4: not continue to Why would hon't I go back to
- 17:31Speaker 4: the power plan? Why would margin go back to being
- 17:32Speaker 4: a house Why they're not international athlete superstars?
- 17:34Speaker 1: Now that's right, Yeah, because they seem so into it.
- 17:37Speaker 4: Explain why they're not going to be doing in the
- 17:39Speaker 4: next episode. That's not just not just that they're good
- 17:42Speaker 4: at it, they're best in the world. Yeah, but they're
- 17:44Speaker 4: also yeah, really into it as well. They found something
- 17:46Speaker 4: they like.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Doing together, So why would they started doing inside jokes
- 17:50Speaker 1: about curling and everything? Yeah, makes sense.
- 17:52Speaker 4: Just just give us something. It can be illogical, but
- 17:55Speaker 4: just something to justify why they wouldn't continue doing it,
- 17:58Speaker 4: or even do one of.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Those cheap Simpsons gags kind of like, yeah, I'm thinking
- 18:01Speaker 1: of that.
- 18:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I would take anything. Yeah, yeah, I'll take a
- 18:05Speaker 4: copy out over nothing. I did like though, that they
- 18:07Speaker 4: didn't mock curly because I feel like a lot of
- 18:11Speaker 4: people see curly as sort of like a joke sport.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:13Speaker 4: I know, I did for the longest time until I've
- 18:15Speaker 4: watched it and I went, oh shit, Yeah, these guys
- 18:17Speaker 4: actually really talented, and I think the Simpsons it was
- 18:20Speaker 4: important that they didn't mock it. Yeah, because I don't
- 18:23Speaker 4: think when you're having a time with the Winter Olympics,
- 18:27Speaker 4: you don't want to be mocking the spot.
- 18:28Speaker 1: So absolutely not, because I mean, you look at other
- 18:31Speaker 1: Winter Olympic sports, it's like, holy shit, these guys are
- 18:33Speaker 1: going incredibly quickly when they're skiing, or oh my god,
- 18:36Speaker 1: you could cut your throat with those skin with those
- 18:39Speaker 1: skates when you're at speed skating, or you know, you
- 18:41Speaker 1: look at figure skating, it's like, these guys are incredible athletes.
- 18:45Speaker 1: I mean watching the figure skating during the most recent
- 18:47Speaker 1: Winter Olympics, there was some guy who I think, you know,
- 18:51Speaker 1: the judge will say, always one of the best in
- 18:53Speaker 1: the world. You know, this is fantastic. He's probably this
- 18:56Speaker 1: is his to lose or whatever. And he took a
- 18:58Speaker 1: tiny bit of a tumble. It's like, oh, that's no
- 19:00Speaker 1: good for him. Then he got it wasn't like a
- 19:03Speaker 1: career anything or even around anything, but oh, that's going
- 19:07Speaker 1: to take some points off. The guy instead just did
- 19:10Speaker 1: like an absolute flip recovered what the I mean, a
- 19:14Speaker 1: literal flip in the air.
- 19:16Speaker 4: It's like, I mean like you've recovered though, like oh yeah,
- 19:18Speaker 4: he need recovered. He was like, oh, Okay, yep, no,
- 19:21Speaker 4: give that guy the goal. Wow, the shyla buff standing of.
- 19:28Speaker 1: So yeah, but I'm I agree with you one hundred
- 19:30Speaker 1: percent about how they they treated curling with. Yeah, the
- 19:33Speaker 1: respect it deserves.
- 19:35Speaker 4: My favorite favorite memos in the episode, mister Davis didn't
- 19:38Speaker 4: have that many. I thought you would have liked the
- 19:41Speaker 4: wise guy guy from the Olympics who had what you
- 19:44Speaker 4: call the dealer. Yeah.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Yeah, well, actually here's one of my Lisa's like, oh
- 19:48Speaker 1: can I oh that pin? I really want it? Can
- 19:51Speaker 1: I have it? On account of account I wanted I
- 19:53Speaker 1: suppose to hear that one. No, I just wasn't funny
- 19:55Speaker 1: the first day. Yeah, and I'm like, oh he's a
- 19:59Speaker 1: Canadian wise that's great, So I didn't. I did enjoy
- 20:01Speaker 1: that bit.
- 20:02Speaker 4: Do you think of the little girl being a guy.
- 20:04Speaker 4: That seems like a gag that they pull what Yeah, yeah, but.
- 20:10Speaker 1: You've got a little person in the sky.
- 20:12Speaker 4: But Burns air was when they did it, because that's
- 20:14Speaker 4: he was Lisa in disguise.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Yeah. I thought it was okay, Yeah, it was liked it.
- 20:21Speaker 4: That was one of my favorites. I like that guys.
- 20:22Speaker 4: I thought he was pretty pretty funny.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Yeah, and the other thing I liked was when Skinner
- 20:25Speaker 1: rocked up on a on a Saturday or something or
- 20:27Speaker 1: did a home visit and but it's all upset. No, no,
- 20:32Speaker 1: my cargo pants, my cargo pants in the case, I'm
- 20:34Speaker 1: not here on school business. I'm here in cool business
- 20:36Speaker 1: as someone who has cargo pants. Yeah, I can dig it.
- 20:39Speaker 4: Yeah, and marched as this slid in or something that
- 20:43Speaker 4: was girling reference.
- 20:43Speaker 1: But it's like I liked.
- 20:45Speaker 4: The two letters and a two letters and a conference
- 20:50Speaker 4: before visit, but not it's the score. I also didn't
- 20:54Speaker 4: mind the Curly trials, Oh various Curlyes. And then I must.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Admit, though, I mean when when's the release date of
- 21:05Speaker 1: this episode?
- 21:05Speaker 4: This episode originally ends to Davis one fourteen Valentine's a
- 21:10Speaker 4: Day in twenty ten amongst the Winter Olympics.
- 21:13Speaker 1: I know the Three Stooges are immortal, but having said that,
- 21:16Speaker 1: I'm wondering how sort of you know.
- 21:17Speaker 4: I've never seen a single episode of the Three Stooges.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Would audiences watching The Simpsons in twenty ten be all
- 21:22Speaker 1: that familiar with Curly? Do you think and the Stooges?
- 21:28Speaker 4: Is it the classic example?
- 21:28Speaker 1: Though?
- 21:29Speaker 4: I don't think the Simpsons writers care, and they probably
- 21:31Speaker 4: should because that the Three Stooges are one of those
- 21:33Speaker 4: things where if you don't know about them, you probably should. Right,
- 21:37Speaker 4: they're iconic when it comes to pop culture. If you
- 21:40Speaker 4: don't get it as an example of a kick going,
- 21:42Speaker 4: what's that all about?
- 21:43Speaker 1: And you might do some research on it. True, Having
- 21:46Speaker 1: said that, I think they might have dragged out the
- 21:47Speaker 1: whole Curly thing. Just it's like, the kids all love
- 21:52Speaker 1: these jugs about the Three Stooges and particularly Curly.
- 21:55Speaker 4: But you could have just had Mo walk up a
- 21:57Speaker 4: lot sooner. I didn't mind that, or even.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Just have it as throw away gag, you know, just
- 22:01Speaker 1: sort of pan past Curly auditions and have someone going.
- 22:04Speaker 4: Well, I looked down for a second to write some
- 22:06Speaker 4: lets looked up and I'm like, I just saw the
- 22:08Speaker 4: Moor partner.
- 22:08Speaker 1: What the heck? What did I do this?
- 22:10Speaker 4: Going on? Next question? You there eating the baste trivia
- 22:17Speaker 4: for this episode, mister Davis, Well, I've got four questions. Four?
- 22:22Speaker 1: Shall I start?
- 22:24Speaker 4: Yes?
- 22:24Speaker 1: Okay, how did they get out for a second? Um
- 22:28Speaker 1: Birds going on a date night with Princess Wilhelmina. From
- 22:31Speaker 1: where Russia, Prussia, Prussia damn.
- 22:36Speaker 4: My first question is what did the Soldier magazine ad
- 22:39Speaker 4: say on the back?
- 22:40Speaker 1: What was it for?
- 22:41Speaker 4: What did it say?
- 22:42Speaker 1: Oh God, damn.
- 22:42Speaker 4: He's holding it up and she's.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Oh, she'll remember your smell.
- 22:47Speaker 4: VI Talents, Yeah, vitalus. She won't have you, but she
- 22:50Speaker 4: will remember your smell.
- 22:51Speaker 1: That's right. Yeah.
- 22:53Speaker 4: Actually, one of my favorite moments I didn't mind the
- 22:54Speaker 4: agnus line of our love was fifty Style three minutes
- 22:58Speaker 4: of sex and then the lifetime of regret my fifty Style.
- 23:05Speaker 1: In the twenty twenties. Yes. My next question to you
- 23:09Speaker 1: is what is on the side of the bus that
- 23:13Speaker 1: is outside the Olympic village. There's something.
- 23:15Speaker 4: There are two words written on it. I don't know
- 23:16Speaker 4: what is It says discover Vancouver, Discover Vancouver. My next
- 23:20Speaker 4: question for you is what is the name of the
- 23:24Speaker 4: skate rink?
- 23:25Speaker 1: Is it to do with cool runnings?
- 23:27Speaker 4: Skates and skates?
- 23:28Speaker 1: Oh no, no, yeah, yeah, skates and such. Yes, because Thursday
- 23:31Speaker 1: night is clockwise. Yes. My next question for you dan't
- 23:36Speaker 1: know is which Harry Potter movie are they watching at
- 23:38Speaker 1: the bar? Oh shit, I have no idea.
- 23:41Speaker 4: I thought it was a good little boat pool though
- 23:42Speaker 4: it wasn't what was.
- 23:44Speaker 1: It they still got to get four of the seven.
- 23:47Speaker 1: It's the Necklace of Amulets. Harry Potter, the Necklace of Amulets,
- 23:50Speaker 1: not a real Harry Potter.
- 23:53Speaker 4: I thought it was a real film. Okay, how do
- 23:55Speaker 4: you know it was? They say that's what they were.
- 23:57Speaker 1: They're watching it on the TVO or something or on.
- 23:59Speaker 4: The on the little Okay. And my final question for
- 24:03Speaker 4: you is what is the name of the first pin
- 24:06Speaker 4: that Lisa receives. Oh, it's from Shamoney, but I forgot
- 24:11Speaker 4: that it was one of the four Olympic mascots.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Yeah, and I've forgotten.
- 24:14Speaker 4: It's Chilbert. Chilbert. Yes, is the snowman. Is that the
- 24:18Speaker 4: one that she buys with the one she's the one
- 24:20Speaker 4: she gets given to it? Yeah, Chilbert is the Snowman.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Yes, I have that little girl to give the give
- 24:25Speaker 1: the doubles one little man. It was a little man.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Oh that's a guy, of course, Yeah we did. He
- 24:30Speaker 1: was so convincing.
- 24:30Speaker 4: Yeah he was indeed, Yes, he fooled you as well.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Right. And your final question, okay, but makes an Olympic
- 24:36Speaker 1: mascot out of Homer's driver's license? When does homers driver's
- 24:39Speaker 1: license expire. I'm going to say twenty twelve. You are correct,
- 24:47Speaker 1: but it's actually yeah, well it's because Americans do everything
- 24:52Speaker 1: ass backwards as it's on the twenty sixth of December
- 25:00Speaker 1: twenty twelve, so twelve twenty six, twenty six twelve, that's
- 25:02Speaker 1: what we would say. Yeah, that's also my body measurements.

- 26:24Speaker 4: Wear review Mister Davis of Boy Meets Curl the Original Editor,
- 26:27Speaker 4: as I said, was February fourteenth, twenty and ten. The
- 26:30Speaker 4: top three films at the US box office. The Wolfman
- 26:32Speaker 4: was number three, Percy Jackson in the Olympians, The Lighting
- 26:35Speaker 4: Thief Sorry Percy Jackson, and number one was as you
- 26:39Speaker 4: can imagine.
- 26:40Speaker 1: Valentine's Day. Oh, Valentine's Day was a hit. On Valentine.
- 26:42Speaker 4: We went through an ear, didn't we. Valentine's Day Day,
- 26:45Speaker 4: Mother's Day. Love actually kicked that trend off, didn't it.
- 26:47Speaker 1: I think so. Yeah. I think they were all directed
- 26:49Speaker 1: by the same guy, Gary Marshall, a pretty woman fame.
- 26:52Speaker 1: So it was Valentine's Day in New Year's Day? Was
- 26:53Speaker 1: there another one? There was Mother's Day?
- 26:55Speaker 4: Mother's Day as well?
- 26:55Speaker 1: Was that?
- 26:56Speaker 4: Yeah, you didn't get to a Father's Day.
- 26:58Speaker 1: I don't think so. No, no chalkboard gag, but we
- 27:02Speaker 1: did have. We did a Chitty Chitty Bang bang or
- 27:04Speaker 1: a version thereof, as they came across their coping through.
- 27:06Speaker 1: And yes, and the couch gag wasn't really a couchy
- 27:09Speaker 1: gag either. I had to do with tarot cards.
- 27:11Speaker 4: Yes, in a psychic reading that Grandpa has. After the
- 27:14Speaker 4: psychic deals to death card, which is Maggie, Grandpa pushes
- 27:17Speaker 4: it back toward her and she falls over dead.
- 27:19Speaker 1: About a tarot card reading, No, I've had one. It
- 27:23Speaker 1: proved semi sort of accurate in a lot of ways. Like,
- 27:27Speaker 1: but then you will have deep regret you're doing it
- 27:31Speaker 1: all wrong.
- 27:31Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like, oh okay, it's like you've known me
- 27:34Speaker 4: all my life. The episode was written by Rob Lezebnik
- 27:38Speaker 4: and directed by Chuck Sheets.
- 27:41Speaker 1: I find it hard to believe that Chuck Sheets is
- 27:42Speaker 1: really now.
- 27:43Speaker 4: I know you said this before. Yeah, no, I believe it.
- 27:46Speaker 4: Chuck Sheets. He didn't need a white fog Scooby Doo
- 27:48Speaker 4: and stuff, look this up? American director animated animation director
- 27:52Speaker 4: know for his work on The Simpsons. What's New Scooby Doo?
- 27:55Speaker 4: My kids love that. Do you know how the Scooby
- 27:57Speaker 4: Dooby do so?
- 27:58Speaker 1: Simple?
- 27:58Speaker 4: Plan that the band, the pop punk band whatever they are,
- 28:02Speaker 4: did this song for what's Scuby do Wow? Bangerby do?
- 28:09Speaker 4: The kids put it on? Like I want to hate this,
- 28:12Speaker 4: but I can't. It's one thing kids shows do really well,
- 28:17Speaker 4: as they hire pop punk and they fucking nail it. Yeah,
- 28:22Speaker 4: Like Patrick Stump does all the spidery stuff, and I'm like,
- 28:25Speaker 4: this is a genuine soundtrack that I would probably buy,
- 28:27Speaker 4: Like he does really good work.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Well, maybe I'll buy it for you for your best.
- 28:30Speaker 4: Yeah, maybe please do so. And Recess the cartoon that
- 28:33Speaker 4: I never really got into. I think I was just
- 28:34Speaker 4: a little bit too old for it by the time
- 28:35Speaker 4: it was released. But they're preparing the they're preparing March
- 28:39Speaker 4: the kids are for her at date night, and how
- 28:41Speaker 4: they're preparing her.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Well, Lisa is giving her a sprits of a perfume
- 28:46Speaker 1: and Art is telling her she doesn't look fat in
- 28:48Speaker 1: that dress. HM.
- 28:49Speaker 4: Correct, Indeed he does so unenthusiastically. Yeah, And Lenny and
- 28:53Speaker 4: Carl are preparing home for his date as well. And
- 28:56Speaker 4: I've just written here I like that, despite their misuse
- 28:59Speaker 4: in recent times, Lenny Carson to always have homes back always.
- 29:01Speaker 4: Therefore burns and walks in and says they can't leave
- 29:04Speaker 4: until they find the leak in the heavy water piping facility.
- 29:07Speaker 4: It seems like a real elaborate thing reason for them
- 29:09Speaker 4: to stay back, right, which you never see them actually do. No,
- 29:13Speaker 4: it's like something that seems it seems like escapades could
- 29:17Speaker 4: ensue in here. Go in there and it's like there's
- 29:20Speaker 4: water leak and there's pipes. It's dark, the lights are flickering.
- 29:23Speaker 4: We don't see any of it. It's just they going
- 29:25Speaker 4: to stay back. You could have just said you stay
- 29:26Speaker 4: back because you have to anyway, But he's.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Gone, Well, it seems like, oh, well, this is a
- 29:30Speaker 1: task it's going to take for one Therefore, Yes, date
- 29:33Speaker 1: night is ruined.
- 29:33Speaker 4: And therefore Homer says, you please date night? Can I
- 29:38Speaker 4: please not stay here? And Burn says, I know it's
- 29:40Speaker 4: date nights. I'm going on a date with Princess Wilhelmina
- 29:43Speaker 4: from Prussia on Prussia, it's not He's going to pop
- 29:45Speaker 4: the question where is the Kaiser's gold? Marge is waiting
- 29:49Speaker 4: sadly watching the Real Housewives of Cholbyville. Rosemary I believe
- 29:52Speaker 4: has had her left boob produced because her husband missed
- 29:55Speaker 4: date night. And my first note here was we're doing
- 29:58Speaker 4: another one of these storylines back to back where Homer
- 30:00Speaker 4: is late for something in ruins that night.
- 30:01Speaker 1: For March correct is and also Homer just call.
- 30:04Speaker 4: Yeah, that's twenty ten, guys. People have phones. Homann gets
- 30:08Speaker 4: home and apologizes for being so late. He says, we
- 30:10Speaker 4: can still catch a movie. It will still be romantic,
- 30:13Speaker 4: and they go and see love.
- 30:14Speaker 1: What's it called?
- 30:15Speaker 4: Oh, formulaically, that's right, yes, But unfortunately though, as what
- 30:19Speaker 4: happens when you go to a movie, it's never peaceful anymore.
- 30:22Speaker 1: Well no, no, I mean people are tending to treat
- 30:24Speaker 1: the theater like their living room. They're on their phone
- 30:28Speaker 1: speaking in they're using their outside voice inside.
- 30:32Speaker 4: Having arguments, domestics.
- 30:33Speaker 1: And the worst thing is Ben ben Affleck is in
- 30:36Speaker 1: the movie that you are choosing to watch. I didn't
- 30:38Speaker 1: mind that gag as much as we love Ben Afflecken
- 30:40Speaker 1: catching strays. Affleck I did like Marchie, I can't hear
- 30:44Speaker 1: the ad telling you want to be quiet, and then
- 30:47Speaker 1: Homer says, we're going to enjoy this movie no matter
- 30:49Speaker 1: what says starting Bet affleck that's it. We're out here.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Because in twenty ten, was was he copying straight?
- 30:54Speaker 2: No?
- 30:54Speaker 1: I think he's. I think Athlete's back. Who was Argo
- 30:57Speaker 1: twenty twelve, I think so. I think he's I think
- 30:59Speaker 1: he's made the town. By twenty ten.
- 31:02Speaker 4: Everyone remembers for that scene with the cops, he rocks
- 31:05Speaker 4: up and then look at him. Not today, it doesn't
- 31:09Speaker 4: I don't think even shakes his head. He just turns,
- 31:12Speaker 4: just drives away. But you can see athletic. He's wearing
- 31:16Speaker 4: the mask, but you can see him behind that mask
- 31:18Speaker 4: acting is dude, Come on, man, I don't want to
- 31:21Speaker 4: do this. And I wonder if that's ever happened in
- 31:25Speaker 4: reality where they've rocked up a cops scene it and
- 31:27Speaker 4: they've gone we'll give you the chance of fucking go.
- 31:30Speaker 4: Don't thing that would really happen.
- 31:33Speaker 1: You'd have to think so, right.
- 31:34Speaker 4: I don't know. I feel like, once you're in that deep,
- 31:38Speaker 4: if a CoP's there, you just got to go for it,
- 31:40Speaker 4: right and just sort of take him out. You can't
- 31:41Speaker 4: take any chances, I think so. I guess if you've
- 31:43Speaker 4: got a mask on, we.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Are talking about Boston. Yeah, that's true. The Town was
- 31:48Speaker 1: in fact released in twenty eighth. It was ten okay y,
- 31:51Speaker 1: but Little was at the point for his career. It
- 31:56Speaker 1: was the second movie he directed, so he made Gone Baby,
- 31:59Speaker 1: Gone of years earlier. I was like, Wow, this guy
- 32:01Speaker 1: can actually make movies. Yeah, we like you, Ben Affleck.
- 32:04Speaker 1: We like you.
- 32:04Speaker 4: We liked you and we didn't or we didn't like
- 32:07Speaker 4: you associated with Now we like you again, Yeah, and
- 32:10Speaker 4: then we didn't. Was that pretty much?
- 32:11Speaker 1: And then we did again something like that. Yeah, everyone
- 32:14Speaker 1: gets into the firing Light. Our boy shall May is
- 32:17Speaker 1: currently in it.
- 32:18Speaker 4: How dare you badmouth?
- 32:21Speaker 1: Which you didn't even do. That's the story for another time.
- 32:23Speaker 4: Marsha, she just wants romance and they're driving around they
- 32:26Speaker 4: find out a romance. Yeah, romance, yes, as well, and
- 32:29Speaker 4: she's she's a hotty.
- 32:30Speaker 1: She's not a dude. So this bromance has got interesting.
- 32:32Speaker 4: Yeah, then he finds they find an ice rink, skates
- 32:35Speaker 4: and such. Thursday night is clockwise night, and Homer says,
- 32:38Speaker 4: March is happy a spot that encourages handholding. So should
- 32:41Speaker 4: we go commando or wear mittens? What are you doing
- 32:44Speaker 4: mitten's or commando? I don't like wearing gloves at the
- 32:46Speaker 4: best times. I'm not a gloves guy.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Given them what we've just been saying about about ice
- 32:51Speaker 1: skates though, and how sharp they are. I mean to
- 32:53Speaker 1: get the feeling if I but all I'm clumsy, notoriously, so.
- 32:56Speaker 4: They've got to be slice proof gloves and all.
- 32:59Speaker 1: That's true. Yeah, mittens wouldn't help. I don't think I
- 33:02Speaker 1: get the really nothing when ruined date, like like me
- 33:05Speaker 1: losing a digit by falling over or me, you know,
- 33:07Speaker 1: cutting up one of the lovely Luis's fingers with my
- 33:11Speaker 1: clumbliness is what I'm saying. I don't think. I don't
- 33:15Speaker 1: think she'd go too well with that. I think it
- 33:19Speaker 1: might be the last straw off.
- 33:20Speaker 4: I realized that they realized here that unfortunately it's closed
- 33:23Speaker 4: for curling and Homer then realized that Waitnue, this is
- 33:26Speaker 4: good we both of us. Is bowling for me and
- 33:28Speaker 4: sweeping for you kind of a sexist joke, but I'm
- 33:30Speaker 4: going to go with it. Yeah, well with March as
- 33:32Speaker 4: a proud housewife. That's the thing, that's the thing, yes home,
- 33:35Speaker 4: and then goes on a really random posh tangent about.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Yeah, which I did not like. What what's the point
- 33:42Speaker 1: of this? It's got the sort of the tagline. There's like, well,
- 33:45Speaker 1: this is like when you're like when you don't drink.
- 33:46Speaker 1: It's like, no, this is not like him.
- 33:48Speaker 4: Ever, hesn't he hasn'ten drinking his whole time. He's been good,
- 33:51Speaker 4: You've loved on this date. He does this random speech
- 33:54Speaker 4: what is happening here? But then we get a montage
- 33:56Speaker 4: and then bonding over curling. They're having a great time
- 33:58Speaker 4: and they drive off from the zamb I love that name.
- 34:00Speaker 1: Zam Bonie.
- 34:01Speaker 4: What a neighbor on a xam bonie we're still still
- 34:04Speaker 4: married on the back, which I thought was nice.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Now I I like this. I like the fact that
- 34:09Speaker 1: they are sort of they found something they do together
- 34:11Speaker 1: and that they enjoy doing together. But at the same time,
- 34:15Speaker 1: This felt like the episode working overtime to say, you know,
- 34:18Speaker 1: these guys still love each other, right, It's like, you know,
- 34:20Speaker 1: a really performative couple who were putting up social media,
- 34:23Speaker 1: so about that, still together, Still go on stran It's like,
- 34:28Speaker 1: give it another year.
- 34:29Speaker 4: We Nicole and I, well more so me Nicholas starting
- 34:33Speaker 4: to join in. We mock people when they you know,
- 34:37Speaker 4: it's like the eighth anniversary, ninth anniversary, and they post
- 34:40Speaker 4: a message to the person, but post it to their
- 34:42Speaker 4: Facebook wall and it's like, happy anniversary, sweetheart. I wouldn't
- 34:46Speaker 4: know what I'd do with it. Blah blah blah. It's
- 34:47Speaker 4: like you sent that message while you're sitting next to
- 34:50Speaker 4: her on the couch. She couldn't just tell them that
- 34:52Speaker 4: you have to let the world know. Hey, guys, guess what.
- 34:54Speaker 1: I love her.
- 34:56Speaker 4: I love her. Guys, you know she's mine. I love her.
- 34:59Speaker 4: Don't don't worry.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Are still I'm as guilty of as as the next person.
- 35:02Speaker 1: But at the same time, I mean there are people
- 35:04Speaker 1: who do it far too frequently.
- 35:06Speaker 4: Because I said to Nikola this year anniversarial, I'm like,
- 35:08Speaker 4: do you want me to put one of those post
- 35:09Speaker 4: She's like She's like, there was a time when I did,
- 35:13Speaker 4: and now I don't. She's like, I just I don't
- 35:16Speaker 4: need I don't need anyone to know that. I.
- 35:20Speaker 1: I will do anniversary stuff once a year on Instagram.
- 35:23Speaker 1: That's the only time I really use Instagram. And but
- 35:26Speaker 1: there that's it. I'll do anniversary stuff once a year.
- 35:30Speaker 1: That's because it happens once a year. Wow, go, I
- 35:32Speaker 1: think it outside the bus I was leaving.
- 35:34Speaker 4: I'm like, see all the other part.
- 35:36Speaker 1: Yeah, will you you think he's going to catch that?
- 35:40Speaker 1: You see guy's brains that little it's like the bear
- 35:44Speaker 1: in the car doing this. We now return you to
- 35:49Speaker 1: boy meets Girl already in progress.
- 35:51Speaker 4: Agnes is impressed with Marger's skills. Marsha's has been training
- 35:54Speaker 4: her whole life. She once swept red wine off of
- 35:57Speaker 4: a white carpet, and they asked them both to join
- 35:59Speaker 4: their team and kick the wighams off as a result,
- 36:02Speaker 4: Coral Wiggans in their bodysuits. Yeah weeks of course, sir,
- 36:05Speaker 4: wign look to right. No bodysuits, that's your problem, my mind.
- 36:09Speaker 4: They tell the kids about how much they love curling,
- 36:12Speaker 4: and the kids kind of like most people is curling
- 36:14Speaker 4: a real thing. Are making this up? Then Skinner arrives
- 36:18Speaker 4: and as we're saying, bust, there's two letters at a
- 36:19Speaker 4: conference before you a home visit. This isn't fair, and
- 36:21Speaker 4: he says he's wearing cargo pants. They indicate that he's
- 36:23Speaker 4: on cool business, not school business. And Marge makes a
- 36:26Speaker 4: really bad reference as well, saying you slid in. The
- 36:29Speaker 4: Olympics have now announced, by the way, that the mixed
- 36:31Speaker 4: curling at the next one drill of the buses is
- 36:32Speaker 4: now a thing, and Homer and visions Santa diving into
- 36:35Speaker 4: ice cuz he doesn't what the winter of the mixings are,
- 36:37Speaker 4: so he dives into ice, gets stuck under the ice.
- 36:39Speaker 4: Penguins are the judges stupidity? We come back and then
- 36:45Speaker 4: they say they're going to the trials.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Yes, while you are off in your little reverie. See
- 36:49Speaker 1: most told.
- 36:49Speaker 4: Us this, We're going to the trials, and Homer envisions
- 36:52Speaker 4: again as they go and get a coffee. Margin asks
- 36:55Speaker 4: Agnes why she's so harsh on a Skinner, and she
- 36:58Speaker 4: says love has nothing to do with winning. She talks
- 37:00Speaker 4: about the Soldier Boy, Soldier Boy Jesus Christ had flashbacks
- 37:04Speaker 4: and Soldier Boy how he was on leave from Korea
- 37:06Speaker 4: and they had a fifty style relationship. Well he's Superman
- 37:09Speaker 4: that oh apparently, yes it did indeed. Yeah, then the
- 37:15Speaker 4: baby bump ruined her pole vaulting career. She was going
- 37:17Speaker 4: to be an athlete in pole vaulting. She was very successful,
- 37:20Speaker 4: but then he tried he kicked and caused the what
- 37:23Speaker 4: is it just the bar? Yeah, yeah, to fall off
- 37:25Speaker 4: and she didn't win. And she tells Marge not let
- 37:28Speaker 4: her feelings get in the way, and she says, well,
- 37:31Speaker 4: I think. She says, you don't get medals for being
- 37:33Speaker 4: a loving wife, and margely, well they should, Well they don't.
- 37:36Speaker 4: I'm like Marge's love for Homer. He just seems to
- 37:39Speaker 4: be ott for the sake of the story.
- 37:41Speaker 1: That's yeah, like I was saying earlier and the whole
- 37:45Speaker 1: what was he saying? Oh, he's what do you like
- 37:47Speaker 1: a minute? Always cute? Now what do you think? Something
- 37:49Speaker 1: like that?
- 37:51Speaker 4: But the National Curly Trails are happening a trial, sorry,
- 37:54Speaker 4: happening right next to the National curling Trials. We'll get
- 37:57Speaker 4: the mo appearance. Yeah, it's almost like h has a
- 38:00Speaker 4: random Moe rocking up saying something silly and walking off
- 38:03Speaker 4: again appearance. Then the we think as a girl gives
- 38:06Speaker 4: Lisa the Chilbert pin, one of four Winter Olympic mascot pins,
- 38:10Speaker 4: and she says, don't worry, she just let you know
- 38:12Speaker 4: this collecting pins can.
- 38:13Speaker 1: Be very addictive.
- 38:14Speaker 4: Then Lisa sees the store and she has the vision
- 38:17Speaker 4: of them saying by us with Marni. And turns out
- 38:19Speaker 4: the girls actually a guy from a cruise ship. Or
- 38:21Speaker 4: is this a reference to anything?
- 38:23Speaker 1: I have no idea. I don't think so. It was bizarre.
- 38:25Speaker 4: Then Homer throws too hard, but Marge thankfully has the
- 38:28Speaker 4: skills to turn the kinetic energy back into potential energy,
- 38:31Speaker 4: and they're off to Vancouver for the actual Winter Olympics.
- 38:35Speaker 4: Indeed very quick. Yeah Olympics.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Don't blink and you might miss it.
- 38:42Speaker 4: They now arrive in Vancouver where you come for the
- 38:44Speaker 4: film tax credits and stay for the marijuana. And then
- 38:48Speaker 4: here we get the reference to the Simpsons movie. Okay,
- 38:51Speaker 4: it's the crazy lady. You don't remember her, not really
- 38:54Speaker 4: in the second Well, that's the whole reason I stopped.
- 38:56Speaker 4: It's the point of Simpsons movie where I stop enjoying it.
- 38:59Speaker 4: When Homer goes and had an epiphany with because Marge
- 39:01Speaker 4: leaves him and she tapes over the wedding tape.
- 39:03Speaker 1: You know that scene?
- 39:03Speaker 4: Yes, I know that, And then he go he wanders
- 39:05Speaker 4: off into the Alaska and then he comes across this
- 39:09Speaker 4: woman who is just like in her TP or whatever,
- 39:12Speaker 4: and she gives him some special medication and he has
- 39:14Speaker 4: like an hallucination. And that's pretty much what was happening here.
- 39:17Speaker 1: I had honestly forgotten about all that.
- 39:19Speaker 4: Yeah, And the thing is, it's been three years since
- 39:23Speaker 4: the Simpsons movie. But I guess because he went to Canada,
- 39:26Speaker 4: they thought it'd be a fun tie in. I just
- 39:28Speaker 4: kind of went off forever and wasn't funny. They didn't
- 39:31Speaker 4: go anywhere.
- 39:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm surprised you didn't remember her. I remember a
- 39:35Speaker 1: fair bit about the Simpsons movie. I don't remember that bit.
- 39:37Speaker 4: There was just a whole part of the Simpsons movie
- 39:39Speaker 4: with it. It's like going oh yo and just doing
- 39:41Speaker 4: weird chants with each other, and you're like, I remember
- 39:42Speaker 4: sitting in the cinema going what are we even doing?
- 39:45Speaker 4: What is this?
- 39:46Speaker 1: What is this happen?
- 39:47Speaker 4: You would? You were going so well, Simpsons movie, what
- 39:49Speaker 4: the hell happened here?
- 39:50Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 39:51Speaker 4: Then Bob Costas is at the twenty ten Vancouver Games,
- 39:55Speaker 4: introducing everybody actually voiced Bob.
- 39:57Speaker 1: Costas veteran commentator.
- 39:58Speaker 4: Yeah, and he says, in Beijing they chose director who
- 40:02Speaker 4: Jiang Yimu, And in Canada they have chosen.
- 40:05Speaker 1: Ivan Rightman was brought to you.
- 40:07Speaker 4: Films such as Ghostbusters. Indeed, introducing all the athletes to
- 40:10Speaker 4: the Ghostbusters theme.
- 40:11Speaker 1: They are a bit rough on Ivan Rightman. They're also
- 40:13Speaker 1: Canada's most famous director, isn't that David Cronenberg? It?
- 40:16Speaker 4: Oh, I would say, so what did he?
- 40:17Speaker 1: What did he directed? Directed The Fly? Oh? What else? Scanners,
- 40:22Speaker 1: The Brood, Crash, Video Drome, Dead Ringers, History of Violence,
- 40:29Speaker 1: Eastern Promises.
- 40:30Speaker 4: I think if you went into a room and named
- 40:32Speaker 4: all those movies and then named Ghostbusters, which film?
- 40:36Speaker 1: Do you think that was just being That was just
- 40:39Speaker 1: me being a nerd?
- 40:42Speaker 4: So your favorite director? Yes, as opposed to the most
- 40:45Speaker 4: famous director. I mean Ivan Ruyman did also produce Space Jam.
- 40:48Speaker 1: Sir, correct, But there was a direct to kindergoten Cap
- 40:54Speaker 1: did he? Oh? Yeah? What else? And Twins and Junior?
- 40:58Speaker 4: Is he did all those? Yeah?
- 40:59Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you watched The Late Show, right, The Great
- 41:03Speaker 1: Australian comedy. Yeah, when they did the bit where Tony
- 41:06Speaker 1: Martin came dressed as Old Schwartz and he was like,
- 41:08Speaker 1: I made comedies with Ivan, rightman a genius.
- 41:14Speaker 4: Junior what a crazy.
- 41:15Speaker 1: Con Oh my god, was a pregnant man. I mean,
- 41:19Speaker 1: twins are hilaria?
- 41:20Speaker 4: How many times twins I've never seen Junior though, Yeah.
- 41:23Speaker 1: You can live with that, Junior. I think there's a
- 41:24Speaker 1: reason people go he made twins in kindergarten cop and
- 41:27Speaker 1: also Junior. Yeah, but you know the story about twins though, right,
- 41:32Speaker 1: is that apparently I think you've told me, Yeah, that
- 41:34Speaker 1: the pitch meeting was just Schwarzenegger the Vito twins.
- 41:40Speaker 4: Yeah, aliens Chip.
- 41:45Speaker 1: Making a dollars man.
- 41:48Speaker 4: That is amazing, that story. I'll never get tired of
- 41:50Speaker 4: hearing that one. But Bob, as I said, so, he's sorry,
- 41:54Speaker 4: I'm running interesting. All the athletes to the Ghostbusters theme,
- 41:58Speaker 4: you know, rasped me by the end, because so many countries.
- 42:01Speaker 1: Who are gonna call? Yes? Yeah.
- 42:03Speaker 4: They then released the Canadian dove, which is the beaver,
- 42:05Speaker 4: and then chew the flame pole and yeah, anyway, went
- 42:08Speaker 4: out the Olympic village. Well you like that one, and
- 42:11Speaker 4: Barta's found a new friend in Milhouse.
- 42:13Speaker 1: Hey, Lee, want to come with I'm snowboarding with my
- 42:16Speaker 1: new Canadian friend Milhos. Who Bert, your sister's hotter than
- 42:19Speaker 1: a Calgary brush fire? Mind if I ask a Rooge? Sorry,
- 42:23Speaker 1: but I was planning to stop by the Olympic Pin
- 42:25Speaker 1: Center to fill in a few small gaps in my collection,
- 42:28Speaker 1: you know, just to get me through the day. She says,
- 42:31Speaker 1: looney as a one dollar coin a hooser, what's some
- 42:35Speaker 1: Canadian club boy? I thought that was a pretty funny
- 42:41Speaker 1: joke about Canadian club but I'm sucker for a good
- 42:44Speaker 1: pun like that.
- 42:44Speaker 4: Yes, Homer is now raiding the buffet, and the skinners
- 42:48Speaker 4: are saying that he's dragging them down. They went Homer
- 42:50Speaker 4: off the team. Marshalls, well, who made you coach? The hat?
- 42:53Speaker 4: The hat makes me coach? He says, I'm the coach.
- 42:54Speaker 4: Homer then slides off because you ever, he isn't talking
- 42:57Speaker 4: about him. He's like, oh, maybe I am the problem here,
- 42:59Speaker 4: and he so now.
- 43:00Speaker 1: I like that. That's that gives you steaks, or it
- 43:04Speaker 1: gives you something to work with.
- 43:05Speaker 4: He could have quit the team because he goes, I'm
- 43:07Speaker 4: bringing you down and.
- 43:09Speaker 1: Then out of loyalty. She says, no, if you quit.
- 43:11Speaker 4: It, I need you, I quit and he goes, okay,
- 43:14Speaker 4: well he goes, and then he feels like part of
- 43:16Speaker 4: the Temples because she goes, I need you with me
- 43:17Speaker 4: homie as opposed to oh, you're shit at this and
- 43:20Speaker 4: now fucked my shoulder up. Now everything we do together ruins,
- 43:24Speaker 4: it ends up being bad for me. Meanwhile, we go
- 43:26Speaker 4: back to doing the exact same thing again.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Or he could like try too hard to improve and
- 43:31Speaker 1: she has to try even harder to sort of make
- 43:33Speaker 1: up for him trying too hard, and that's how a
- 43:36Speaker 1: shoulder gets messed up. And it's like, I don't want
- 43:38Speaker 1: to blame you, but it is kind.
- 43:39Speaker 4: Of your well, or he pretends to have an injury
- 43:41Speaker 4: so he doesn't have to do it because he's embarrassed.
- 43:43Speaker 4: You go anyway, but we get notice to the writer's room.
- 43:46Speaker 4: We had a really random bit here where he sort
- 43:48Speaker 4: of slides off into bob Sled whilst pondering about what
- 43:50Speaker 4: he can do.
- 43:51Speaker 1: Ends up left over from the original script, perhaps where
- 43:53Speaker 1: they when he.
- 43:54Speaker 4: Was inlid and Meggie's in there, and Meggie's in there
- 43:57Speaker 4: and just crawls off into the car pup by herself.
- 43:59Speaker 1: Find something to do with Maggie. If you gotta do
- 44:01Speaker 1: better than that le you've heard behind.
- 44:02Speaker 4: Paying someone or something, you know, it's not funny enough
- 44:05Speaker 4: to be that kind of gag. Lisa and finds the
- 44:08Speaker 4: pin for the mascots of the nineteen twenty four games,
- 44:10Speaker 4: and I think this is who you thought Chamona, Yeah,
- 44:14Speaker 4: Nwi and we unwi. And she says, can I have
- 44:17Speaker 4: it on account as in an account that I wanted?
- 44:20Speaker 4: And then you've had that one before?
- 44:23Speaker 1: What you say? It just wasn't funny the first day.
- 44:25Speaker 4: And then he says, I'll stop you for the pearl,
- 44:27Speaker 4: so she does, so he puts it in the box
- 44:28Speaker 4: with kids jewelry, I think birthday checks and pets and
- 44:31Speaker 4: beloved pets. We've got puppy Googoo was in their millhouses are.
- 44:35Speaker 4: But then sees Lisa busking and she's singing or she's
- 44:37Speaker 4: playing the theme. Yeah, intro theme, Yeah she does in
- 44:41Speaker 4: the intro. Then so a woman walks past, doesn't give
- 44:45Speaker 4: Lisa any money, says I saw you giving to the beach.
- 44:47Speaker 4: You've got to pay for that. Do you know we
- 44:48Speaker 4: gave a busker ten dollars the other day they.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Were that good. Well, did you actually have ten dollars
- 44:54Speaker 1: on you or did you do the whole because you
- 44:56Speaker 1: see buskers these days there, people aren't carrying around much
- 45:00Speaker 1: cash as they use. I won't do that like QR
- 45:02Speaker 1: cod for tips. Yeah, I don't know, man, that could
- 45:05Speaker 1: be malware.
- 45:05Speaker 4: Yeah, I had ten dollars in my wallet. But holy
- 45:08Speaker 4: they're playing dancing in the moonlight, but they're playing on
- 45:10Speaker 4: like a synthesizer. And the singer she was really good
- 45:13Speaker 4: to stand at the paco here at the same strand, yeah,
- 45:15Speaker 4: strand and well, I was just with Holly and Holly
- 45:18Speaker 4: says can we stop and listening? And Holly was just
- 45:19Speaker 4: like grooven and dancing to it. And I was like,
- 45:22Speaker 4: you've you've impacted my daughter here. She's really enjoyed this.
- 45:25Speaker 4: And she's like, can we give them? And I was like,
- 45:26Speaker 4: I've got ten dollar fine? And it fucking made the
- 45:29Speaker 4: musician's day.
- 45:30Speaker 1: I bet it would.
- 45:31Speaker 4: Yeah, just seeing it, like they stopped playing for a second,
- 45:33Speaker 4: I was just like, look, they gave her a high five.
- 45:35Speaker 4: They're like ten dollars.
- 45:37Speaker 1: Yeah, And I'll tell you what, that's probably going to
- 45:39Speaker 1: be a little bit of a I would wager ten
- 45:42Speaker 1: dollars there's going to be a formative memory for Holly. Yeah,
- 45:46Speaker 1: she'll remember. Oh yeah, I remember that music. Gave me
- 45:48Speaker 1: a high five.
- 45:49Speaker 4: Yeah, very cute.
- 45:50Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, I'm trying to remember the most I've ever
- 45:53Speaker 1: given a busker. I don't think I've ever given folding money.
- 45:56Speaker 1: I might have given a fiver to some kid who's
- 45:59Speaker 1: playing like a very bloozy version of the Harry Potter theme,
- 46:02Speaker 1: okay on their sacks outside the coals and Shannon Avenue.
- 46:06Speaker 1: I'm like, what you're doing? All right? Here, you go
- 46:09Speaker 1: have a fiver old dolls. Maybe I'll go to the
- 46:12Speaker 1: movies ban thatseuf funny story.
- 46:14Speaker 4: This to always be a kid outside of the Gelon
- 46:17Speaker 4: Cat's footy ground playing the club song on the trumpet
- 46:20Speaker 4: when the Cats were beIN right and last year maybe
- 46:23Speaker 4: was in the year before the Greater Western Sydney Giants
- 46:26Speaker 4: the GBS Giants beat Gelong down here and then walking
- 46:30Speaker 4: out and this kid starts going, starts playing their song,
- 46:33Speaker 4: and I'm like, read the room, buddy. Oh and I've
- 46:36Speaker 4: never seen the kids since time I saw.
- 46:40Speaker 1: Y lynched charld trumpet.
- 46:46Speaker 4: He's always playing the Geelong song. And they got beaten
- 46:48Speaker 4: by the giants. He starts playing their song mind like
- 46:50Speaker 4: it sounded good, but he was never.
- 46:52Speaker 1: To be seen again with like trumpet sized wrote chubbed it.
- 47:01Speaker 4: Right downs clacker. Oh boy, I was just thinking, mate,
- 47:07Speaker 4: this ain't it? But yes. At Lisa's busking, she's annoyed
- 47:13Speaker 4: the people aren't donating money to it because she wants
- 47:14Speaker 4: to buy more pins. She rants about somebody only giving
- 47:17Speaker 4: her a dime. She says she's fine, but she's clearly not.
- 47:19Speaker 4: And what a really awkward scene here where he says,
- 47:22Speaker 4: give me all your pins and she's She says, I'm
- 47:24Speaker 4: not wearing a dress. I'm only wearing pins. I'm like, wait,
- 47:26Speaker 4: eight year old's nude. Kind of weird.
- 47:28Speaker 1: No, but work, how are the pins being hell today?
- 47:31Speaker 4: Stuck into your flesh is bizarre? Really bizarre. Then it's
- 47:35Speaker 4: time for the curling semi finals. Marge is warming up
- 47:37Speaker 4: by sweeping the snack bar and then just hating on Homer,
- 47:40Speaker 4: and she says she'll sweep harder and harder because without Homer,
- 47:43Speaker 4: I'm a broom without a stone. I'm no use for anything.
- 47:45Speaker 4: And I was like, what the hell is going on here?
- 47:49Speaker 4: No use for anything.
- 47:50Speaker 1: Yeah, like we're we're not Torius Simps. Yeah, damn no,
- 47:55Speaker 1: but yeah, Marge's giving us a run for her money.
- 47:57Speaker 4: But then Agnes says to Skin, I'm glad you saw
- 48:01Speaker 4: love once before you died.
- 48:04Speaker 1: The hell what the fuck is going on here?
- 48:06Speaker 4: Then the Bob Costas makes a gag about Lisa's pin
- 48:09Speaker 4: courtesy of Tom Brokaw, and he says, I love to
- 48:11Speaker 4: learn about Lisa. What the hell is going on? What
- 48:14Speaker 4: the hell is going on?
- 48:15Speaker 1: How did these jokes make the final.
- 48:17Speaker 4: I don't understand what joke?
- 48:19Speaker 1: No, well, I should have done the quote Marx.
- 48:22Speaker 4: Yeah, margin does her shoulder? Does a shoulder? Is that
- 48:25Speaker 4: an Australian thing? You do? You to do something? Do
- 48:28Speaker 4: your hammy? Does her shoulder? Trying to save Homer's terrible throw.
- 48:32Speaker 1: Yeah, imagine watching like say NFL coverage in the state, like, oh.
- 48:39Speaker 4: He's done a shoulder, he's done a hammy. He's doing
- 48:41Speaker 4: a heavy that nosy thing that's gotta be that do
- 48:44Speaker 4: a hammy. But I did, Like here, they succeed, they win,
- 48:48Speaker 4: and in the crowd we have someone with Homer's face
- 48:51Speaker 4: on their stomach, and then old guy with Agnes's face
- 48:54Speaker 4: on his stomach. That was sprinkly. They're off to the
- 48:56Speaker 4: gold medal match and he says, it's sort a bit
- 48:58Speaker 4: of sweet melodrum. This sort of sweet melodrama is what
- 49:01Speaker 4: Olympic coverage feeds off of. Were vampire sucking on the
- 49:03Speaker 4: shadded dreams of others because Marge's hurt her shoulder.
- 49:06Speaker 1: Well, you could say we had that recently with the
- 49:08Speaker 1: most recent Winter Olympics, when speed skater Lindsay Vaughn returned
- 49:15Speaker 1: after she was she was formally married to Tiger Woods. Yeah,
- 49:20Speaker 1: I think she'd been injured her. I'm sure she did
- 49:24Speaker 1: it right out of it, but you know, she returned
- 49:26Speaker 1: to speed skating after a while because I think she'd
- 49:28Speaker 1: been injured, had had a knee injury. Yeah, she came
- 49:30Speaker 1: back and she was doing really well and then all
- 49:32Speaker 1: of a sudden, just crack and just messed up and
- 49:34Speaker 1: knee again. I was like, oh man, this is probably
- 49:38Speaker 1: the most we're talking about. The Winter Olympics.
- 49:40Speaker 4: We used to have a player for gelon called Daniel
- 49:42Speaker 4: Menzel who did like a cl it took like a
- 49:45Speaker 4: year off come back, first match back banking acl like
- 49:48Speaker 4: in the other knee and you're like oh no way,
- 49:51Speaker 4: you can't you seriously you come up again? Did the
- 49:52Speaker 4: a cl again? Everyone's like, maybe it's just maybe this is.
- 49:56Speaker 1: The universe telling you something. Dan, Yeah, good player.
- 49:58Speaker 4: It would have been a great player. That's it was
- 50:00Speaker 4: a real shame. Yeah. But every time as a Geelong
- 50:02Speaker 4: fan you're watching him on the field, you're like, Noah,
- 50:07Speaker 4: wrap him up in cotton wool. But if it says that.
- 50:10Speaker 1: Yeah, that's not fair, run down, you'll run.
- 50:16Speaker 4: It says that Marge will never curl again and Sweden
- 50:19Speaker 4: will now get.
- 50:20Speaker 1: Okay, so maybe that's maybe that's why she has to retire.
- 50:24Speaker 1: So I mean, even though she's good with the left arm.
- 50:27Speaker 4: But she wins God with her left arm.
- 50:29Speaker 1: She's a lefty. Yeah. And then I'm trying to throw
- 50:32Speaker 1: these guys a bone.
- 50:33Speaker 4: And Sweden, I thought Sweden was like a nice place,
- 50:35Speaker 4: but apparently they're joy is all but the shadow, the
- 50:38Speaker 4: pain casts.
- 50:38Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm Swedish happy, don't you think of the Germany?
- 50:41Speaker 4: Yeah, Marge's an annoyed while she's folding clothes with one arm,
- 50:46Speaker 4: her other arms in a sling. She doesn't want Homer's
- 50:48Speaker 4: help because everything he ends up doing together with her
- 50:51Speaker 4: and it's bad.
- 50:51Speaker 1: For her, so yeah, sorry, unearned dramatic tension there.
- 50:54Speaker 4: Then he says, you're hot when you're horny, and she's like,
- 50:57Speaker 4: I'm mad, I'm the horny. I'm maze. Oh you're you're
- 51:00Speaker 4: when you're angry.
- 51:00Speaker 1: I'm like, what what is going on?
- 51:04Speaker 4: Reveals that she and she didn't reveals I'm left handed.
- 51:06Speaker 4: I just didn't want people to think that I was weird. Wait, well,
- 51:13Speaker 4: there is a.
- 51:14Speaker 1: Long history of school children who initially would start riding
- 51:17Speaker 1: with it. This is way back there.
- 51:21Speaker 4: We're twenty one seasons deep.
- 51:22Speaker 1: I know, and we're in the twenty ten sit. Yeah,
- 51:25Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure left is not regarded as you know,
- 51:28Speaker 1: a sport of the devil.
- 51:29Speaker 4: Bart and Lisa are now walking through a want to
- 51:31Speaker 4: start the woods or something, and he says to give
- 51:34Speaker 4: her all the all of her pins, and she's also
- 51:36Speaker 4: hiding someone her hair, and then he says, now, put
- 51:38Speaker 4: your pearls back on. We're gonn get coffee and you'll
- 51:39Speaker 4: be fine, and then she explains how she no longer
- 51:42Speaker 4: has the pearls without them, she's just a big maggie.
- 51:45Speaker 4: We're now at night and Marge's cutting up so but.
- 51:48Speaker 1: I did like that, you know. She was like, is
- 51:50Speaker 1: this tough love? That's my like soft hate.
- 51:51Speaker 4: Soft hate.
- 51:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:52Speaker 4: Now at night Bart is cutting home as driver's lines
- 51:54Speaker 4: and I couldn't work out what he was doing here.
- 51:56Speaker 4: And he draws the eyes and I'm like, oh, he's
- 51:58Speaker 4: making a pin. I've seen this pin photos of this
- 52:02Speaker 4: in various things on mean groups and stuff, and I'm like,
- 52:05Speaker 4: what in the hell is this from? And there you know,
- 52:07Speaker 4: and now I know it is Fatov, the Russian the
- 52:11Speaker 4: upcoming from the twenty fourteen Fashion Winter Olympics. So he
- 52:15Speaker 4: goes to the wise guy and says, this guy represents
- 52:18Speaker 4: the Russian spirit of sloth and alcoholism that work in
- 52:20Speaker 4: dreams of dancing with Fatov and exchanges the pearls back
- 52:24Speaker 4: and that's the end of that story.
- 52:25Speaker 1: And that's the end of that story.
- 52:27Speaker 4: Yeah, he buys a little fake plastic pin. Oh you whatever.
- 52:31Speaker 4: I don't know, man. Now, guys, I hope you're enjoyed

- 53:02Speaker 1: I remember when we were in my family and I
- 53:05Speaker 1: were in Russia in nineteen seventy nine. Yeah and yeah,
- 53:08Speaker 1: this is when the Moscow Olympics were the following year,
- 53:10Speaker 1: and there was a whole lot of Olympic paraphramily around.
- 53:12Speaker 1: I don't know if we've still got it at home,
- 53:14Speaker 1: but we are. I think his name was Misha, the
- 53:16Speaker 1: bear mascot of the of the Russian Olympics, had a
- 53:18Speaker 1: little Olympic belt on. He was the cutest.
- 53:21Speaker 4: Who was ours the cooker baro of the porcupine and
- 53:23Speaker 4: on the kidnap and the.
- 53:24Speaker 1: We do we have a room? Was it kangaroo? I
- 53:27Speaker 1: don't think so.
- 53:28Speaker 4: Platypus platypus, Okay, cook barroo platypus? Was there was three?
- 53:31Speaker 1: Was it Reagan?
- 53:33Speaker 4: Yeah? No, I'm talking about the one from Yeah, what
- 53:36Speaker 4: were their names? Come on, I have vivid memories when
- 53:41Speaker 4: the two thousand Olympics were on and the flame was
- 53:45Speaker 4: the torch was running through Geelong and everyone was like
- 53:47Speaker 4: lined up on the streets watching it run past. It
- 53:49Speaker 4: was like my first sort of memory of the Olympics.
- 53:52Speaker 1: Yeah, people lighting daries offered, were they? But I wouldn't
- 53:57Speaker 1: put it past Gelong.
- 53:58Speaker 4: But now we have Bob Costas and says they're they're
- 54:00Speaker 4: going to return to the sudden death hockey game between
- 54:02Speaker 4: Russian and USA once they finished watching this forfeiture signing ceremony.
- 54:07Speaker 2: Team captain Seymour Skinner is preparing to sign. There's been
- 54:10Speaker 2: some question as to whether he'll use his middle name.
- 54:13Speaker 1: I guess we're.
- 54:13Speaker 2: About to find out. Okay, here comes the pan. The
- 54:16Speaker 2: ink appears to be blue.
- 54:18Speaker 1: No surrender, Let's skim the Olympics. A miracle, but this
- 54:23Speaker 1: time on ice, because the miracle on ice was yes,
- 54:27Speaker 1: when the American hockey team, but the Russian hockey team. Yes.
- 54:31Speaker 4: Now everyone is back home watching. You think the people
- 54:33Speaker 4: at Mos are watching, but they know they're watching Harry Potter.
- 54:35Speaker 4: They're watching the quidditch game. Then the Skinners are there
- 54:39Speaker 4: and the Simpsons they're doing that the gold medal match.
- 54:41Speaker 4: Skinners stick unfortunately breaks it is it called a stick?
- 54:43Speaker 4: We're gonna call it a stick? It breaks a broom, yes,
- 54:45Speaker 4: a broom. It breaks. And this is where Agnes says
- 54:48Speaker 4: before now, I never knew a mother cauled, love a
- 54:50Speaker 4: child wind lose. I'm taking off a pizza and ice cream.
- 54:52Speaker 4: We're gonna sit at the same table. Sure, great, okay.
- 54:56Speaker 1: So happy that mother and son, this mother and child
- 54:59Speaker 1: reunion is only a moment away.
- 55:00Speaker 4: We just know that next time, we said, and she's
- 55:02Speaker 4: going to be hating on him again? Correct, why not, Marge?
- 55:04Speaker 4: Then she does it, She succeeds, They win home accidentally
- 55:07Speaker 4: waves the Swedish flags of the USA flag and Homasa's
- 55:11Speaker 4: how's this for a date night? And then Agnes taunts
- 55:13Speaker 4: Sweden and Homer dances were fat off. And that is
- 55:16Speaker 4: the end of the episode.
- 55:17Speaker 1: That is the end of the episode.
- 55:18Speaker 4: Last it was off the rails.
- 55:21Speaker 1: Indeed, that says, how does my ice taste? Or something?
- 55:23Speaker 1: Which I don't know.
- 55:26Speaker 4: I really couldn't get.
- 55:27Speaker 1: We just don't know. We made it to the end though, folks.
- 55:29Speaker 4: Yes, it started strong, and then it just I don't know.
- 55:34Speaker 4: It's almost like they didn't know where they were going
- 55:36Speaker 4: by the end. Wrap this up, Wrap it up.
- 55:38Speaker 1: Wrap it up. Yes, it's a whole bunch of bits
- 55:40Speaker 1: and pieces that didn't quite jell together all that well.
- 55:44Speaker 4: It feels like they wrote this episode and then got
- 55:46Speaker 4: to the end and went, ah, we need to have
- 55:48Speaker 4: a resolution to the Agnes Skinner story quick. Just throw
- 55:50Speaker 4: something in there, because there was no build.
- 55:53Speaker 1: Up to it. Absolutely not. That was all hate because
- 55:55Speaker 1: you had until there was live.
- 55:57Speaker 4: You had Agnes saying all this stuff and Marge saying no, no, no,
- 55:59Speaker 4: you can love this, you can love that. But the
- 56:01Speaker 4: last thing we heard Agnes say to Skinner was I'm
- 56:04Speaker 4: glad you saw love once before you died. That's the
- 56:06Speaker 4: last thing we saw. Or say to him.
- 56:10Speaker 1: What do we learn, Bomber?
- 56:11Speaker 4: Would you learn from the episode of the Davis.
- 56:13Speaker 1: I'll tell you what I didn't learn how to curl.
- 56:16Speaker 1: I still don't get the physics of it.
- 56:18Speaker 4: I don't understand neither. So did they chip away at
- 56:20Speaker 4: the ice?
- 56:20Speaker 1: I guess they must not, too sure.
- 56:24Speaker 4: I learned that. I'm disappointed that Fatov was not the
- 56:26Speaker 4: mascot of the twenty fourteen.
- 56:28Speaker 1: He seemed like a cute little guy. Yeah yeah, good.
- 56:30Speaker 4: Dancer, rode forward, your names will be all right. It's
- 56:34Speaker 4: time for the Guy Davis New Name Championship. The current
- 56:37Speaker 4: leader board stands at this In first position we have
- 56:40Speaker 4: Philip Jay Hawkins on nineteen points, in second position Kyle
- 56:43Speaker 4: Muldoon on ten, and in third position we have Nathan
- 56:46Speaker 4: Briggs on eight points. Take it away, mister Davis.
- 56:48Speaker 1: Okay, one point goes to curl Interrupted.
- 56:52Speaker 4: That is Steve Roberts, which I believe is his first
- 56:55Speaker 4: points for the Steve for the season. But on Steve,
- 56:58Speaker 4: for Steve, I think we're going to call it the
- 56:59Speaker 4: Steve the Season, the season in.
- 57:02Speaker 1: Honor of Steve Roberts. Well down, Steve, one point to you,
- 57:04Speaker 1: and two points goes to Michael Bell, Mike curl Ian Asley. Oh,
- 57:14Speaker 1: he's never going to give it up.

- 57:18Speaker 4: as well, and actually one of them two pointers.
- 57:20Speaker 1: Well we're going to give him up. We're going to
- 57:21Speaker 1: give up two points to Ashley. But three points goes too.
- 57:25Speaker 1: Do man sing the stone.
- 57:27Speaker 4: That's a good one.
- 57:28Speaker 1: It's not bad. Who gave it to us?
- 57:30Speaker 4: It's another newbie. It's David Mott. Three newbies at the
- 57:34Speaker 4: Liddle Boy Wow. Three new wildcard entrance, one of the
- 57:37Speaker 4: Motts Spot one to the Moths Spot. Indeed, yes, Mott
- 57:39Speaker 4: Squad on mot Spot. Well you could say hot spot. Yeah,
- 57:44Speaker 4: I think of the mod Squad. You could do that too,
- 57:47Speaker 4: but that means that means Philip J. Hawkens are still
- 57:50Speaker 4: in first position on nineteen points. Second. We have Kyle
- 57:52Speaker 4: mal doing clever Kyle on ten and Nathan Briggs on eight.
- 57:55Speaker 1: A few more wild cards in there though.
- 57:57Speaker 4: We do indeed, yeah, little people at the end of
- 57:59Speaker 4: the season get their name right out if they have
- 58:01Speaker 4: the name drawn out of the of the draw for
- 58:03Speaker 4: the wild card at the end of this season. Because remember,
- 58:05Speaker 4: if you want to be part of the Guy Davis

- 58:34Speaker 4: We're gonna be reviewing Last Exit to Springfield. Yes, Mark
