- 0:00Speaker 1: We are now joined by Jeff Label at ESPN dot com.
- 0:03Speaker 1: My apologies, Jeff, we get too caught up in yelling
- 0:06Speaker 1: at Mosure. I'm sorry, Well, that happens.
- 0:10Speaker 2: That happens.
- 0:12Speaker 3: We're just talking.
- 0:13Speaker 1: About how Moser's got to put on this professional voice
- 0:15Speaker 1: and call this game tonight for a game that even
- 0:18Speaker 1: the Avalanche don't care about.
- 0:20Speaker 2: How does he sell that's a tall or you don't
- 0:23Speaker 2: sell it. You lean into it, That's what I was saying.
- 0:27Speaker 1: You either do that or you go so over the
- 0:29Speaker 1: top intense with the game that it becomes like a
- 0:31Speaker 1: knock on itself. Now, Jeff, do you know anything about
- 0:37Speaker 1: what a keeb to Leave is hinting at with another
- 0:40Speaker 1: move on the horizon, because the last time he did this,
- 0:42Speaker 1: the Jaylen model trade went down. Do you know anything
- 0:44Speaker 1: of what he's talking about?
- 0:46Speaker 2: Well, I mean, you know, there's all kinds of things
- 0:50Speaker 2: swirling out there among even league people, and this is
- 0:54Speaker 2: that time. So we'll see if my friend Akib has
- 1:00Speaker 2: you know, the legit sources, or if he's caught up
- 1:03Speaker 2: in the swirl, you know, or the the bus as
- 1:07Speaker 2: Sean Payton calls it, the train as he calls it.
- 1:11Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean you could. I'm not you know,
- 1:15Speaker 2: we're weak out. You could name almost anything that could happen,
- 1:21Speaker 2: and you can find one or two people that will
- 1:23Speaker 2: tell you, oh yeah, I've heard a little about that,
- 1:26Speaker 2: and it's it's just that time. So you know, I
- 1:32Speaker 2: will say, if the Broncos are going to make a
- 1:34Speaker 2: substantial move, they don't have a lot of draft capital
- 1:39Speaker 2: to do it. So you're talking about players on the roster,
- 1:44Speaker 2: all of those things. You know. The one one thing
- 1:50Speaker 2: I've confirmed that is intriguing is they had Omar Cooper
- 1:55Speaker 2: in here for a top thirty visit. He's a wide
- 1:59Speaker 2: receiver from Meiana good a wide receiver who has a
- 2:03Speaker 2: first round grade for almost every play almost every team
- 2:07Speaker 2: I've spoken to. So you don't bring a top thirty
- 2:10Speaker 2: player in, uh for just no reason. And uh he
- 2:17Speaker 2: has had a top thirty visit with the Denver Broncos.
- 2:20Speaker 2: So uh, you trade for Jalen Waddle, you would see
- 2:25Speaker 2: and you say publicly, we like our wide receiver room,
- 2:29Speaker 2: We're not gonna do anything, and then you bring Omar
- 2:33Speaker 2: Cooper in for a visit. I am intrigued by that.
- 2:36Speaker 2: That's what I have my eye on. If you're if
- 2:39Speaker 2: you're asking me about tea leaves and all of that,
- 2:41Speaker 2: But that player has a first round grade. I have
- 2:44Speaker 2: them at twenty, so that that's way ahead of sixty
- 2:48Speaker 2: two by my math. So I'm no good at math,
- 2:52Speaker 2: but I'm pretty sure twenty is way in front of
- 2:55Speaker 2: sixty two.
- 2:56Speaker 4: You'd have to give away a lot to move up there, though,
- 2:59Speaker 4: I mean, wouldn't you have that's not your year a player.
- 3:03Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying they don't have. They got no
- 3:06Speaker 2: third round pick this year, they got no first round pick,
- 3:11Speaker 2: they got no draft capital, and if you give up
- 3:14Speaker 2: twenty twenty seven picks, you're doing something almost nobody in
- 3:19Speaker 2: the league thinks is a good idea right now, because
- 3:22Speaker 2: that draft is projecting to be stacked for Day one
- 3:27Speaker 2: and Day two at minimum, so that only sort of
- 3:31Speaker 2: leaves an existing player on the roster. So you know, again,
- 3:35Speaker 2: nothing may happen because calls get made and prices are
- 3:39Speaker 2: too high and all of that, but it is intriguing
- 3:42Speaker 2: to me that's the one player they've brought in I
- 3:47Speaker 2: have confirmed roughly twenty seven. That's the only player on
- 3:52Speaker 2: the list with any sort of first round grade from anybody.
- 3:56Speaker 5: Did you just inadvertently give away spot in your rankings.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Omar I said, I said last week you guys could
- 4:05Speaker 2: get a couple. But yes, that is one I gave
- 4:09Speaker 2: you above forty or whatever. But that would that's rare.
- 4:12Speaker 2: That's a rare, rare, rare nugget.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Yeah, And I don't like how you mentioned that out loud.
- 4:17Speaker 1: I was gonna let that slide and try and get
- 4:18Speaker 1: another one at the end. I am going to get
- 4:20Speaker 1: another one.
- 4:21Speaker 3: At the end.
- 4:21Speaker 4: We have ruined Mos. We were looking for a second.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll see proprietary information. You know.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Are we going too hard to paint on Mos? Right now?
- 4:31Speaker 3: I'm sorry?
- 4:32Speaker 2: Fine, Okay, you're killing him, You're killing.
- 4:34Speaker 3: I have a hole, guy, I have a hole in
- 4:37Speaker 3: my hole.
- 4:37Speaker 5: Is gonna shut?
- 4:40Speaker 2: Wow? Just one.
- 4:46Speaker 3: Right now, right now, Jeff.
- 4:51Speaker 1: On top of that, I don't know if this has
- 4:55Speaker 1: been the case, it feels like this. Maybe I'm wrong
- 4:59Speaker 1: that in re years it feels like player acquiring trades
- 5:03Speaker 1: happened during the draft more than usual. Am I am
- 5:06Speaker 1: I wrong? Like when guys are trading picks for guys,
- 5:09Speaker 1: you know what I mean?
- 5:11Speaker 2: Well, it's you know the old saying deadline spurs action. Yeah,
- 5:15Speaker 2: and you've got it. Like free agency, you've got to
- 5:19Speaker 2: be under the cap to to do the drafts, so
- 5:22Speaker 2: that sometimes a player involved in a trade helps you
- 5:26Speaker 2: get get all of that handled in a way you like,
- 5:30Speaker 2: Like if you pick up picks that are going to
- 5:32Speaker 2: influence your draft pool against the cap, then you've got
- 5:37Speaker 2: to do some things sometimes because teams are so close
- 5:39Speaker 2: to the edge. But usually it's just the threat of
- 5:44Speaker 2: the deadline. You know, the draft is happening, people are
- 5:47Speaker 2: on the clock, and it actually forces things. You know,
- 5:52Speaker 2: for the last week or so, every team in the league,
- 5:55Speaker 2: including the Broncos, have made an array of calls to
- 5:59Speaker 2: see what might be available, who might be interested in moving.
- 6:04Speaker 2: All of those things happen and every team does it.
- 6:08Speaker 2: So when you see all those stories listening for offers, yeah,
- 6:13Speaker 2: all thirty two teams are doing that right now. You know,
- 6:16Speaker 2: It's sort of like asking a guy at the combine
- 6:18Speaker 2: if he spoke to the Broncos. They talk to everybody.
- 6:23Speaker 2: That's just how it works.
- 6:24Speaker 4: Jeffrey, I read your most recent post here in ESPN
- 6:28Speaker 4: dot com, and you're talking about linebacker for the Broncos,
- 6:31Speaker 4: Jonah ellis now making the move to that inside backer position.
- 6:35Speaker 4: Does that mean that all bets are off with them
- 6:37Speaker 4: going after a linebacker and round number two, is Jacob
- 6:41Speaker 4: Rodriguez still a candidate?
- 6:44Speaker 2: I don't. I'm not sure he'd be there vic at
- 6:46Speaker 2: sixty two. He's an awfully good player. Okay, but yeah,
- 6:52Speaker 2: I think actually, I think the board may force may
- 6:55Speaker 2: point them to a linebacker. But if they stay at
- 6:59Speaker 2: sixty two, I think I think linebacker defensive linemen will
- 7:04Speaker 2: probably be the highest value players when it comes around
- 7:08Speaker 2: to sixty two. You know, if one of those tight
- 7:11Speaker 2: ends happens to get fall into the fifties, I could
- 7:15Speaker 2: see them trying to sneak up if they liked either
- 7:19Speaker 2: one of them. You know, they had them both in
- 7:21Speaker 2: for visits Claire and Stours. They had both those guys in.
- 7:27Speaker 2: So I think if either of those guys fell into
- 7:29Speaker 2: the fifties, they'd have to take a hard look at it.
- 7:31Speaker 5: Hey, Jeff, what are we doing with the replacement referees,
- 7:36Speaker 5: replacement officials?
- 7:38Speaker 2: I got a good idea.
- 7:39Speaker 5: I don't think so either, But I guess the league
- 7:43Speaker 5: is quote onboarding. It means they're bringing them in and
- 7:46Speaker 5: they're putting them in the system and background checks and
- 7:48Speaker 5: all that kind of thing. Are we really going to
- 7:52Speaker 5: get to September and have replacement officials? Really?
- 7:56Speaker 2: Really? Yeah? Most I think it's it's all about who's
- 8:01Speaker 2: dug in with the most fervor. I mean, this is
- 8:05Speaker 2: the league basically showing the officials union, hey, we're serious
- 8:12Speaker 2: when we sit at the negotiating or when we're negotiating,
- 8:16Speaker 2: that we would do this. It's basically to be prepared
- 8:22Speaker 2: if they don't get a deal, because you can't get
- 8:25Speaker 2: all the way to September and not have a plan.
- 8:28Speaker 2: So there is an element of that being prepared. But
- 8:31Speaker 2: the other element is the league basically saying we're not
- 8:37Speaker 2: giving you everything you want in this negotiation, and you know,
- 8:44Speaker 2: you know, for the union to have its ultimate negotiating power, unfortunately,
- 8:50Speaker 2: it may take getting to games and having it not
- 8:54Speaker 2: go well. You know, until then, the possibility of replacements
- 8:59Speaker 2: are is always going to be out there. I think.
- 9:02Speaker 2: I think if the players Union gets more vocal as
- 9:06Speaker 2: the season gets closer, I think the possibility of a
- 9:10Speaker 2: deal goes up. In just my opinion, you know, I'm
- 9:13Speaker 2: no expert on labor negotiations, but I think if the
- 9:17Speaker 2: players Union made some noise the closer the season got,
- 9:23Speaker 2: the league would feel some pressure.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Jeff Lagwold with us.
- 9:27Speaker 1: All conversations with Legyar brought to you by the International
- 9:30Speaker 1: Brotherhood of Electrical Workers IBEW Local sixty eight.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Start with the job and with the career.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Seen some whispers about this, I suppose. I think the
- 9:40Speaker 1: idea of it is intriguing. But when keep to lead
- 9:44Speaker 1: through that out there, I was trying to figure out, well,
- 9:46Speaker 1: who would even be available if they were to make
- 9:49Speaker 1: another quote bigger trade? Is Kyle Pitts staying in Atlanta
- 9:53Speaker 1: this year? Or would Atlanta consider dealing him?
- 9:56Speaker 3: You think?
- 9:58Speaker 2: You know, I've got an awful lot of in him,
- 10:00Speaker 2: and they keep saying he's a big part of of
- 10:04Speaker 2: things moving ahead. But you know, we've all watched Atlanta
- 10:08Speaker 2: do business in the past. I'm not sure anything's off
- 10:11Speaker 2: the table with them. I mean they they signed a
- 10:15Speaker 2: quarterback for one hundred million dollars and then drafted a
- 10:17Speaker 2: guy in the first round. Yeah uh, in the same years.
- 10:20Speaker 2: So any team that will do that, I will say anything.
- 10:24Speaker 2: And you know, I'm not sure that's a solution player
- 10:27Speaker 2: for the Broncos long term. You know, his injury history
- 10:31Speaker 2: is spotty. The production is spotty. I mean it's it's
- 10:36Speaker 2: you know, I had him rated as highly as anybody
- 10:39Speaker 2: when he came out into the draft, and that that
- 10:42Speaker 2: has not come to fruition.
- 10:44Speaker 3: So could an Atlanta problem.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Yeh, that's what if you're the Broncos, that's what you'd
- 10:49Speaker 2: have to decide. And I'm not sure is that really
- 10:52Speaker 2: a blockbuster move. I don't. I don't put him on
- 10:55Speaker 2: that that tier of players.
- 10:57Speaker 5: But yeah, but he's only twenty five and he was
- 11:00Speaker 5: so highly regarded jef No.
- 11:02Speaker 2: I mean that's the thing, and a lot of times
- 11:04Speaker 2: when teams make trades, you're seeing what their draft grade
- 11:07Speaker 2: was three years before, four years before. They that's a
- 11:11Speaker 2: lot of the information they use when they do make deals.
- 11:15Speaker 2: So yeah, I mean that all matters. I'm just saying
- 11:19Speaker 2: in my you know, little pinhead brain, I'm not sure
- 11:23Speaker 2: that qualifies as ooh that's a blockbuster. Yeah, he would
- 11:27Speaker 2: help if healthy and everything, but I think it would
- 11:31Speaker 2: take I think the price would be pretty high. So
- 11:34Speaker 2: I'd be intrigued to see what what they for any
- 11:37Speaker 2: player of that, you know, caliber level, and be intrigued
- 11:41Speaker 2: to see what they would would kind of package they
- 11:43Speaker 2: put together because they've spent an awful lot of time
- 11:45Speaker 2: saying they like this depth chart just the way it is.
- 11:49Speaker 2: And you know, another big swing in a trade that
- 11:54Speaker 2: would include players is sort of goes counter against all that.
- 11:59Speaker 4: He wrote a wonderful piece on the passing of a
- 12:02Speaker 4: longtime NFL coach, Dave McGinnis. He was a head coach,
- 12:05Speaker 4: assistant coach. He did a little bit of everything. He
- 12:07Speaker 4: finished as a broadcaster. I got to know Dave in Arizona,
- 12:13Speaker 4: and man one of the more approachable figures I've ever
- 12:15Speaker 4: come across. What's your best Dave mcginnon story.
- 12:19Speaker 2: I'm not sure I could tell him on the radio,
- 12:21Speaker 2: but noknew. I knew mac for thirty five years, probably
- 12:28Speaker 2: just I don't know, covered a lot of ground with him,
- 12:31Speaker 2: and I tell people all the time. If if I
- 12:35Speaker 2: had to list the twenty funniest stories people have told
- 12:39Speaker 2: me in my career, he had ten of them, probably
- 12:44Speaker 2: just because absolutely one of the funniest things. But there
- 12:49Speaker 2: were several rides. He always had a car. He knew everybody.
- 12:54Speaker 2: I never I'm not sure I've known anyone who absolutely
- 12:59Speaker 2: knew as any people as Dave McGinnis did, and He
- 13:03Speaker 2: always had this truck deal. You know, I always knew
- 13:07Speaker 2: somebody that wanted to lease him a truck or something
- 13:10Speaker 2: so they could say Coach Mac official truck thing of
- 13:15Speaker 2: Coach Mack. And it was always a massive I mean,
- 13:18Speaker 2: it was just him. He didn't have kids with him
- 13:22Speaker 2: or anything. It's just this giant truck. And he would
- 13:25Speaker 2: make me drive that thing. And I don't have my glasses,
- 13:28Speaker 2: you know, and he just and and uh, you know,
- 13:33Speaker 2: it was just comical and he just he just hooted
- 13:36Speaker 2: me the whole way. But absolutely, you talk about somebody
- 13:41Speaker 2: who never had an off moment when he met people
- 13:44Speaker 2: out in public. He just treated everybody how we should
- 13:48Speaker 2: all treat everybody. And I guess that's what I'll remember
- 13:52Speaker 2: the most is when I called him the mayor of everywhere.
- 13:56Speaker 2: I used to I used to say I was gonna
- 13:57Speaker 2: make t shirts up for him. But uh, going anywhere
- 14:02Speaker 2: with him, like at the Combine would take three hours
- 14:05Speaker 2: because he absolutely knew every single person in Indianapolis, Guys
- 14:09Speaker 2: who parked cars, waiters, wow, cops on the corner. I mean,
- 14:14Speaker 2: it didn't matter it took you three hours to walk
- 14:17Speaker 2: a block with him, because he he and he remembered
- 14:20Speaker 2: every single person's name. That a skill beyond skills.
- 14:24Speaker 1: I think Jeff Lagelo ESPN dot com real quick. Last
- 14:28Speaker 1: two things?
- 14:29Speaker 3: When does the top one hundred drop Sunday Sunday?
- 14:32Speaker 2: Sunday Sunday?
- 14:34Speaker 3: All right, I'm not gonna go high on this.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Okay, I'm gonna keep it like I'm gonna call this
- 14:39Speaker 1: professionals where I'm gonna keep it. The Broncos picked number
- 14:42Speaker 1: sixty two. Let's say every team picks in the direct
- 14:45Speaker 1: order of your top one hundred.
- 14:47Speaker 3: That would leave the Broncos with.
- 14:50Speaker 2: I don't know if I'll give me sixty two. Nugget.
- 14:54Speaker 2: That's a pretty good nugget.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Well, I mean I chucked a good dart, then I
- 14:57Speaker 1: gotta be rewarded for it.
- 14:59Speaker 3: Who how about Gretzky give us?
- 15:02Speaker 2: Give us?
- 15:02Speaker 5: Gretzky give us ninety nine?
- 15:04Speaker 2: Ninety nine? All right?
- 15:05Speaker 3: I like, come on, he was about to push which
- 15:08Speaker 3: not enough. He's not gonna give you sixty two.
- 15:11Speaker 2: He's not gonna tell you what I'll give you sixty three?
- 15:14Speaker 2: How about that? Right? Five? Yeah? Derek Moore from Michigan
- 15:18Speaker 2: sixty three?
- 15:20Speaker 1: Is it?
- 15:20Speaker 5: Who?
- 15:20Speaker 2: Outside Edge Edge Rusher? Derek Moore edge rusher Michigan is
- 15:25Speaker 2: sixty three in my in my book, and sixty one
- 15:29Speaker 2: is uh gab Jackas from Illinois, also an edge rusher.
- 15:35Speaker 2: So that tells you. That tells you the strength of
- 15:37Speaker 2: the board in that area.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Hang on a second, why would you not want to
- 15:40Speaker 3: give sixty two?
- 15:42Speaker 4: Oh?
- 15:42Speaker 3: I think I know what it is.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Look, you don't have to confirm to I can I can?
- 15:45Speaker 1: I guess and you don't need to respond.
- 15:47Speaker 2: No, I'll respond if you hit it, that'd be pretty good.
- 15:51Speaker 3: Is it because it's Tye sid? Is it because it's
- 15:53Speaker 3: ty Simpson and you don't have him ranked very high?
- 15:56Speaker 4: No, it's a tight end.
- 15:57Speaker 2: I don't have him ranked very high, but not quite
- 15:59Speaker 2: that deep. I am going to take some heat for
- 16:02Speaker 2: that that I am. I am fully prepared for. Who
- 16:05Speaker 2: the hell is this guy? And uh, just another moron? Gotcha,
- 16:11Speaker 2: I'm already I remember.
- 16:12Speaker 1: This is our annual reminder to everybody when this top
- 16:15Speaker 1: one hundred drops. This is not Jeff Lagwold guessing where
- 16:18Speaker 1: these guys are getting drafted. This is how he has
- 16:21Speaker 1: them ranked as football players.
- 16:25Speaker 2: And the quarterbacks are where they belong, as.
- 16:28Speaker 1: I say, yes, oh, in less thing I know you're
- 16:31Speaker 1: a big Nuggets guy.
- 16:32Speaker 3: What do you think happens to the t Wolve series?
- 16:35Speaker 2: I think they I think they play like they have been. Uh.
- 16:39Speaker 2: The Tea Wolves seemed to bring a bring a weird
- 16:42Speaker 2: vibe out of the Nuggets sometimes. I mean VIC could
- 16:44Speaker 2: speak to that better, but they seem to bring a
- 16:46Speaker 2: weird vibe out of they They're not quite the Nuggets
- 16:51Speaker 2: when they play them. So if they if they can
- 16:54Speaker 2: sort of remain themselves, I think they they move right on.
- 16:57Speaker 4: By Jeff, if Moser is quiet, he's a little nervous,
- 17:00Speaker 4: big game at ball, he's prepping.
- 17:02Speaker 2: For big, big iuge ramifications. I personally would treat it
- 17:07Speaker 2: like Game seven of the Cup Finals and leave it
- 17:10Speaker 2: at that.
- 17:10Speaker 3: Yes, Jeff, I would.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Make I would make no apologies. I would just do
- 17:15Speaker 2: it that way, Brett.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Jeff was always never a dull moment.
- 17:21Speaker 3: It's just great, like you're the best. Thank you, buddy.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:25Speaker 2: I look forward to the drunk take on the game
- 17:27Speaker 2: call tonight.
- 17:28Speaker 3: That's right, Jeff, see it.
- 17:32Speaker 5: And they throw it to the dunk take the closure more.
- 17:38Speaker 4: You're the guy on this show about an hour and
- 17:41Speaker 4: a half ago who accused me of not being too serious.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Yeah, he's now we started to clown.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Interesting talk.
- 17:47Speaker 3: He's gonna freak the perimeter switch.
- 17:50Speaker 2: He called the.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Hang on a reminder, The final key word is library.
- 17:58Speaker 1: So take that in your first and last name with
- 17:59Speaker 1: three ozho three five four oh nine two five A
- 18:01Speaker 1: chance to get in the building.
- 18:02Speaker 3: Ballerina Game one Saturday.
- 18:05Speaker 5: Colonel Mustard in the library with a candlestick.
- 18:08Speaker 3: What about the office, the camera or the kitchen.
- 18:11Speaker 1: I'm maybe I don't know, uh, but all conversations with
- 18:16Speaker 1: Jeff Lagwald happen on the ramos Law hotline.
- 18:19Speaker 3: Car accident.
- 18:19Speaker 1: You need ramos Law medical doctor and attorney ramos law
- 18:21Speaker 1: dot com. And remember remember his top one hundred comes
- 18:24Speaker 1: out on Sunday.
- 18:25Speaker 3: It's at your calendar.
