Transcript
- 0:00I've got to be honest with you, I had mixed emotions about this podcast episode.
- 0:03Yeah, I mean, personally I didn't want to do it, but I felt quality.
- 0:08And you'll find out why soon.
- 0:10I'm always like, I've got a good idea, and then I realise we both have to do it, and I'm like,
- 0:15I don't like the activity.
- 0:16Hey, we're all about open, honest, vulnerable, you know,
- 0:20transparent conversations about our finances.
- 0:23Yes.
- 0:24Okay, so basically the way that this came about, so there was a woman called Linda,
- 0:28should we let's get some details up about her, because she's actually quite a fascinating
- 0:32human.
- 0:32So Linda, she lives in Dubai.
- 0:35She lives between Dubai and the States, right?
- 0:37Yes, yeah.
- 0:38And she put on TikTok how much she spends in a week, and it was...
- 0:43In a day.
- 0:44In a day, and it was insane.
- 0:46Like, I don't even think, I mean, I probably could spend that much in a day, but
- 0:49what she spent on art, yeah, was insane.
- 0:51And we were like, oh, here's a podcast idea.
- 0:53Firstly, she claims to be the, her thing is like, I'm the millionaire's wife,
- 0:57which is kind of an interesting concept in itself, so we were like, what is the deal here?
- 1:03Like, is she being serious?
- 1:04Is this real?
- 1:05So it turns out she is real, but she spends like 80 USD on a gold latte, for example.
- 1:12Yeah, and she's only 23, and it is absolutely nuts what she spends.
- 1:17So she spends 16,000 USD a day, a day, and she's 23 years old,
- 1:26and this is made up of Chanel handbags, $80 coffees, which are actually lattes,
- 1:34dripped in gold.
- 1:35She spends $400 on detox messages.
- 1:39She furs, like, honestly.
- 1:41She has a show for every day, it's insane.
- 1:44Like, but the most expensive thing there's on Chanel bags, which she despises.
- 1:47Which, in her defense, a kind of an investment as well, I agree.
- 1:50Yeah, but, yeah, it was just wild, and we thought, hey, why don't we spend a new week?
- 1:55Because it's going to be nothing here, what she does.
- 1:58So basically, what we've done here is we've swapped bank statements for the week.
- 2:03So we're looking at the stick-in to the 9th of July.
- 2:06This was a random date that was chosen by someone who books our guests on the show.
- 2:10Yes.
- 2:11So she was like, Pam is going to choose a random date for you.
- 2:13Otherwise, you're going to choose a week where you spent your money on clever things,
- 2:16and we were like, I did have a week in mind, or I was like, oh, maybe she'll pick this week,
- 2:20but it wasn't.
- 2:22Quite interesting, actually, to look at Sophie Horat's spending habits.
- 2:26Do you know, Kate, can I just quickly profess this by saying,
- 2:29I was shocked and appalled at some of your, I mean, I've got some bonds,
- 2:37typically, that's for sure, but there are some things on this that I was like, really?
- 2:42I reckon if I didn't know you and I looked at your bank statements, I'll be like,
- 2:46all she does is move and eat.
- 2:49So accurate, though.
- 2:51I would think you were an alcoholic.
- 2:54I could take care of this, well, God.
- 2:56And addicted to coffee, which is also accurate.
- 3:01I'm an alcoholic caffeine addict.
- 3:04Yeah.
- 3:04Wow.
- 3:06Yeah.
- 3:06But I'd rather move and eat.
- 3:08So I've done a bit of a breakdown on yours,
- 3:11just because I wanted to see what you'd spent in total across the week.
- 3:15And it was, oh my God, I forgot to balance those days because I was okay.
- 3:22Oh, God.
- 3:23Oh, yeah.
- 3:23All right, Victoria.
- 3:25Yes, I'm going to.
- 3:27God, I've got a wee while to listen to this episode.
- 3:29Oh, gosh.
- 3:29Okay, so the amount you spent in this week on coffee was nearly $40,000.
- 3:36That's not that bad.
- 3:38For a week, yeah.
- 3:39I see you now.
- 3:41There's actually less to be honest.
- 3:42No, I look at it.
- 3:43I'm like, that's not that bad.
- 3:44You spent $154.84 on food.
- 3:47I know, pounds.
- 3:48That's 300.
- 3:50Because you ordered, it was Deliveroo Islington.
- 3:54No, it wasn't.
- 3:55Sorry, Deliveroo London.
- 3:56You spent 42 pounds on a Sunday morning.
- 4:01That's 80 New Zealand dollars on Uber Eels.
- 4:03It wasn't just me.
- 4:04It was me and my foot moves.
- 4:07The one thing I really...
- 4:08Honestly, when I'm hungover,
- 4:10I am just like the biggest eater in a bottomless pit.
- 4:13Yeah.
- 4:14It's bad.
- 4:15You did spend...
- 4:16I feel naked.
- 4:18I feel like...
- 4:18Very vulnerable.
- 4:19It's like, yeah, but this is good.
- 4:22No, this is good.
- 4:22Okay, so you have your amics and your transfer wise.
- 4:25So you're using amics for...
- 4:27How do you use it for the big spend?
- 4:30Yes, yeah, okay.
- 4:31Like, for example, when we went to Sicily
- 4:33and I'd be like, yeah, I'll pay for this dinner
- 4:35and then everyone pay me back so you get the points.
- 4:37So...
- 4:37I just...
- 4:38I've written Deliveroo London.
- 4:40Because you did 62 pounds from a Deliveroo.
- 4:43As well, that way.
- 4:44I literally...
- 4:45Actually, it's funny after this,
- 4:46I had to delete my Deliveroo app.
- 4:48I can't delete UberEats
- 4:50because it's intertwined with Uber.
- 4:52But I had to delete Deliveroo
- 4:54because it's just the convenience.
- 4:56And then I see my statement, I'm like,
- 4:58oh, I'm like, gosh, I must stop being lazy.
- 5:01So that...
- 5:02What the hell did you see in 62, 51 on?
- 5:05Do you remember?
- 5:06That's a...
- 5:06Oh, I know.
- 5:08120 New Zealand dollars on UberEats.
- 5:10It was probably ramen, to be honest.
- 5:12Love ramen.
- 5:13Okay, so basically, I'm going to go through this.
- 5:15This is really confronting.
- 5:16Okay, so Deliveroo.
- 5:18So you spent 42 pounds and then 62 pounds.
- 5:23That's quite a lot.
- 5:24The other thing I noticed...
- 5:26Oh, gosh.
- 5:28Well, there was...
- 5:28It says, wait Rose is LinkedIn London.
- 5:31Wait Rose.
- 5:32Nice to meet you.
- 5:33328 pounds.
- 5:34It's a lot.
- 5:35Oh, yeah.
- 5:36Why?
- 5:38I get a sound like an alcoholic.
- 5:41So, there's another transaction in there
- 5:43which kind of explains this transaction.
- 5:46Okay, wait, hold on.
- 5:47Is it SP Premium to Kila New Moldin?
- 5:50Because you spent 550 pounds.
- 5:56Okay.
- 5:56Keme out.
- 5:57Because just so you know, that's a bad idea.
- 6:00Keme out.
- 6:01Okay, so this was...
- 6:02I was hoping that we wouldn't pick this week
- 6:05because then I have to explain myself.
- 6:08So we were having a party at our flat.
- 6:11And I was like, you know what?
- 6:12I want to get some to Kila.
- 6:13Some nice to Kila.
- 6:14I'm a big to Kila fan for those of you.
- 6:16You know me?
- 6:17Love my to Kila.
- 6:18Anyway, I ordered six bottles of 818 to Kila.
- 6:23Was that 550?
- 6:24Wait, wait.
- 6:25Sorry.
- 6:27And this was like a Tuesday
- 6:28and the party was on a Saturday.
- 6:29And I was like, you know what?
- 6:30Plenty of time for it to arrive.
- 6:31Perfect, perfect.
- 6:32See the kind of overnight delivery.
- 6:34It was Friday and I still couldn't arrive.
- 6:36So Vic is now panicking of what she's going to drink on Saturday night.
- 6:42So she goes to order another six bottles of to Kila.
- 6:45From the same place?
- 6:46No, different places.
- 6:47This is white rose.
- 6:48No, no, no, no, no.
- 6:52She orders another six bottles of to Kila
- 6:55with an overnight delivery
- 6:56in the hope that it's going to arrive on Saturday.
- 6:59She stays at home talking about myself and the food person.
- 7:01She stays at home all day Saturday
- 7:03to make sure this to Kila arrives.
- 7:05She gets an email saying,
- 7:07sorry, we're delivery attempted, but no one was home.
- 7:10I was fuming.
- 7:11I was like, excuse me.
- 7:12I stayed home all day
- 7:14because they dropped it to the wrong house.
- 7:15Oh, sorry.
- 7:16She'd be stoked.
- 7:17So I've got 12 bottles of to Kila in the ether.
- 7:20And a party starting in like a few hours.
- 7:23So I run down to weight shows
- 7:25and buy I think three bottles of shitty to Kila.
- 7:29Well, 328 pounds.
- 7:31Plus like snacks and stuff.
- 7:32And yeah, yeah.
- 7:33Like chips and holy shit.
- 7:37So you spent that total hold on of 879 pounds.
- 7:44So 1600 New Zealand dollars on to Kila.
- 7:47Yes.
- 7:48But my argument is I now have to Kila for the whole summer.
- 7:51I'm not going to have to buy alcohol.
- 7:52So I just forward payment.
- 7:53Oh, you didn't even return.
- 7:54No, it all arrived on Monday.
- 7:57Can we have a party?
- 7:58Well, I've slowly been drinking it.
- 8:00Yes.
- 8:0112 on Jesus.
- 8:03But if you think about it, it's forward planning.
- 8:05I'm going to drink to Kila for summer.
- 8:08So now I have bottles.
- 8:09I don't you know, like you tell yourself what you need to say.
- 8:11It's just like I pre-paid rather than
- 8:13spaced it out over the next six months.
- 8:17That's my argument.
- 8:18But anyway, your 12 bottles of to Kila arriving on Monday
- 8:20was kind of not ideal.
- 8:23But do you know what you also have spent,
- 8:25which I thought was kind of a lot?
- 8:27Okay, can we get into you?
- 8:28Yeah, this is like 333, 72 pounds.
- 8:32So $600 on transport in a week.
- 8:35No, no, no, no, that's for the month.
- 8:38By, you buy it.
- 8:39You buy it monthly.
- 8:39People don't know.
- 8:40Oh, okay, God.
- 8:41Gosh, no.
- 8:42I was like, I was like, did I?
- 8:45I was like, I've been scanned.
- 8:47What else did I pick up on?
- 8:49Why did you transfer Mr. Owen?
- 8:52That's his last name ever, not first name.
- 8:55No one's talking.
- 8:56325.
- 8:58That's him transferring me for Sicily.
- 9:00Why did you buy him Sicily?
- 9:01I just said when I put all my stuff on my amics
- 9:03and then he ran transfers me back money.
- 9:05Okay.
- 9:05Yes, so maybe there was a dodgy one.
- 9:07No, there is a lot.
- 9:09I think he was the last one to pay,
- 9:10but in the weeks before that.
- 9:11So this was split wise.
- 9:13Great app, everyone.
- 9:14Oh, it's a great app.
- 9:15So this is the run time you back.
- 9:17Which is happening again now after my Grace Holiday,
- 9:19which is great.
- 9:19Is SP Alex Eagle Studio London clothing?
- 9:24No.
- 9:24Because it's used 348 pounds.
- 9:28$500 in a week.
- 9:29I think conversions are wrong.
- 9:30Nope.
- 9:31Pounds is almost double.
- 9:32I literally spent like two hours
- 9:34going through your statements,
- 9:35talking in them in detail.
- 9:37That's what you spent in pounds.
- 9:38$348.
- 9:40So you bought my hat?
- 9:43So now it comes out.
- 9:45Okay, fine, there was a bag in the hat.
- 9:48I needed a hat.
- 9:49It's sunny.
- 9:49I'll take my face.
- 9:51And that little bucket hat,
- 9:52if God doesn't want.
- 9:53No, I forgot to bring that.
- 9:55We also, do you want to keep going?
- 9:57No, all this time.
- 9:58Do we have to see for so please?
- 10:00Uh, pampering.
- 10:01Oh, you spent $65.
- 10:05No, sorry.
- 10:06In a pound, I thought it was now.
- 10:07Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:08Yeah, it's fair because I did just
- 10:09like your baby finger and thing.
- 10:10Oh my god, no, in my grip right now.
- 10:12That's not what you do.
- 10:14I didn't know I was like,
- 10:16I know I do need to go see,
- 10:17but I don't want to because now I'm going to get rid of
- 10:19kills with my skin there.
- 10:21Look, the main takeaway here was
- 10:24definitely too much on takeaway food.
- 10:26Deliver it.
- 10:27It's got to go.
- 10:28I'm glad that you're taking one.
- 10:29I mean, it may have come back briefly last Sunday,
- 10:32but it's gone again.
- 10:33It's gone again.
- 10:36Okay, maybe you need to be back.
- 10:38You've got to be banned from delivery.
- 10:39I also love so posters of money.
- 10:41Like get out of your lazy bum and gone.
- 10:46Oh, that's so funny.
- 10:47Okay, we'll look.
- 10:48Essentially, most of your money is going on food and coffee.
- 10:51And alcohol, obviously, tequila.
- 10:53What a terrible lifestyle.
- 10:55Yeah.
- 10:56There's not like fitness.
- 10:58No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 11:01I also couldn't see anything on your transfers
- 11:03and to like, invest it or anything.
- 11:06That goes into my New Zealand.
- 11:08And then this is transferred into my spending.
- 11:10Right.
- 11:11So yes, sorry.
- 11:11My new thing.
- 11:12This is not the general year.
- 11:13Because if I transfer it into my wise
- 11:15from my kiwi bank account,
- 11:16then I just have to transfer it back into my kiwi.
- 11:18You know, so I just leave it in there and yeah.
- 11:20So there is money going to be staying definitely.
- 11:23It was funny when we did this.
- 11:24I sent my statements to Sof and she comes back
- 11:26with an email circling and it was like,
- 11:28what does it say?
- 11:30It's like, excuse me, what have you?
- 11:32It was like, it's circles.
- 11:33So she was worried.
- 11:34I was like, hey, can I pick the week?
- 11:36And she goes, no, no,
- 11:37we're going to eat someone random to pick it
- 11:38because you're going to pick a week
- 11:39that you look really good in your spending habits.
- 11:41And I was like, fair enough.
- 11:42I was like, okay, fine then.
- 11:43She can pick it.
- 11:44And then I sent my transactions to Sof
- 11:47and there's she circles and read.
- 11:48And it's like hidden transactions.
- 11:51And I was like, this is purely because
- 11:53I had to hide certain dates
- 11:54because she only picked a week.
- 11:56I'm still not so excited for the moment.
- 11:59Yeah, I'm still excited and something for me.
- 12:01I mean, I would hide the tequila.
- 12:03I would hide the deliberate.
- 12:05Sofie.
- 12:06Oh god.
- 12:07Yeah. So you like, you're liming?
- 12:09What do you mean?
- 12:10You like to lime?
- 12:12No, like the only reason lime is I'm running late.
- 12:15So you are always running late.
- 12:17No, I'm not.
- 12:18How many limes are there?
- 12:19But I love how you pay for transport
- 12:21and then you get a lime on top of that.
- 12:22What do you mean?
- 12:23Well, like you pay monthly transport.
- 12:26Or which is like 300.
- 12:27Yeah. And then you pay limes on top of this.
- 12:30But the egg is not too bad.
- 12:31How much was it total that way?
- 12:33The limes.
- 12:3425 pounds.
- 12:35Oh, it's $50.
- 12:37There's 50 bucks on transport.
- 12:39Wow.
- 12:39Yeah.
- 12:40Also, budgins?
- 12:42God, it sounds like some budgies smuggler.
- 12:44Budgins.
- 12:44Budgins.
- 12:45That sounds familiar.
- 12:47I have a feeling that it's a like convenience store.
- 12:50Budgins.
- 12:51Yeah, it's a grocery store.
- 12:52Is this your kind of emotional eating?
- 12:54Yeah, yeah.
- 12:55I do emotionally eat.
- 12:57I know on the nose, be well.
- 12:58So many of your chips.
- 12:59I'll eat an entire bag.
- 13:01It probably was actually exactly that.
- 13:03Yeah.
- 13:04Now I feel bad.
- 13:04All right.
- 13:05We've all got our emotional patterns, blowouts,
- 13:08my so many chips.
- 13:10It could be heroin.
- 13:11It could be a lot worse, you know?
- 13:12Yeah, true.
- 13:13You obviously did a bit of shopping
- 13:14when you went to Copenhagen.
- 13:16Oh, I did.
- 13:17Is this a Copenhagen weekend?
- 13:18No, this is the tax back.
- 13:20Oh, you've seen how proud of me.
- 13:23Yeah.
- 13:23We're here when you saw that I'd done that.
- 13:25Yeah.
- 13:26I only lost one receipt.
- 13:28Nice.
- 13:29So so bought a laptop when she was last in London.
- 13:32It was about $4,000 Kiwi dollars.
- 13:36And I was like, for enough.
- 13:37For enough, yeah.
- 13:38I was like, make sure when you go through
- 13:40that you get your tax back,
- 13:41because it's going to be like $400, $500.
- 13:44She's like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 13:46And then get sexual.
- 13:47I was like, oh, so did you get your tax back?
- 13:49Oh, no, no, I forgot.
- 13:50I was like, OK, I did.
- 13:51You get your tax back on 20 pounds.
- 13:56You remember on 26 pounds.
- 14:00And not $500.
- 14:01But anyway, $5,000.
- 14:02$5,000.
- 14:03She's a bad, yeah.
- 14:05Yeah, OK.
- 14:06And I just think I didn't have time
- 14:07with the airport to wait.
- 14:09It was like, you know what I mean?
- 14:10And you should start all with this tax back.
- 14:11It's always the time when you have a lot of tax to get back.
- 14:14And you're like, dammit.
- 14:15I know, yeah.
- 14:16Also, rogue from you.
- 14:18I was like, are you sure this is your statement?
- 14:20Starbucks.
- 14:23Of all people, it's like Whole Foods, Planet Organic.
- 14:26And then it's like, growing by nature.
- 14:28All these beautiful organic places.
- 14:31And then Starbucks.
- 14:33OK, so here's the thing.
- 14:34The girl that I've been living with
- 14:36loves a mucher and iced mucher from Starbucks.
- 14:39And I don't know.
- 14:40I think she bought me one thing like try it.
- 14:42It's yum.
- 14:43And it was.
- 14:44Yum.
- 14:45So good.
- 14:46Delicious.
- 14:47And it's because it's right across the road from me,
- 14:49like I can see it from my house.
- 14:51Yeah.
- 14:52Sometimes if I wake up, I thought I had an evening meeting.
- 14:54And then we have a morning meeting.
- 14:56I'm just pop over the road.
- 14:58I'm wearing a little.
- 14:59But yeah, not the cheapest or most
- 15:02planet-friendly company to be spending money at, I realize.
- 15:06And good to see you got some exercise in here.
- 15:09Oh, yes.
- 15:10Yeah.
- 15:10So you have been having Starbucks'es and...
- 15:13What did I exercise this one for?
- 15:15120 New Zealanders.
- 15:17All in class pass.
- 15:19Class pass.
- 15:20I'm not saying you do.
- 15:21I've been going to one rebel a lot.
- 15:23Nice.
- 15:23And I also like rumble the punching one.
- 15:25Yeah.
- 15:26But I found...
- 15:28Found.
- 15:28I found.
- 15:29Is that even my brother's exit coming in?
- 15:32Oh my god, Ben had been here for two months.
- 15:33Yeah.
- 15:34Found.
- 15:34It's so much more expensive here.
- 15:36Like I...
- 15:37I pretty sure that $120 would have gone on a week.
- 15:40Yeah.
- 15:40But classes are scarily expensive.
- 15:42Yes.
- 15:43Are pretty.
- 15:44How good is pretty?
- 15:45Did I say money at pretty?
- 15:46Well, it looks like your car may have declined.
- 15:48Wow.
- 15:51It's gone in and out.
- 15:53Yeah, that might have happened.
- 15:54Oh my god, is that what happens when you decline in?
- 15:56Well...
- 15:56They try and...
- 15:57Yeah, they put it back in.
- 15:59Yeah, they're like that.
- 16:00Yeah, yeah.
- 16:00It's a place to decline.
- 16:02Yeah.
- 16:02It's always slow to see.
- 16:03All price?
- 16:04$40.
- 16:06You'll probably buy me a coffee.
- 16:07I think that that was a work meeting.
- 16:09Oh yeah.
- 16:10Yeah.
- 16:10Yeah.
- 16:11Must get reimbursed for that.
- 16:12I know.
- 16:13I know.
- 16:13Because they keep doing that.
- 16:15And then I forget to get reimbursed.
- 16:17And so here, there's a little suspicious...
- 16:19Whoa!
- 16:20What?
- 16:21$220,000 at Whole Foods.
- 16:25Girl.
- 16:26Oh, that was a big shopping week for me.
- 16:28Yeah.
- 16:28It could tell.
- 16:29Yeah.
- 16:29Because that was when I thought,
- 16:31actually, if this I need to stop spending so much money out
- 16:34and actually start making food at home,
- 16:37I get so much enjoyment
- 16:39from having organic, beautiful,
- 16:42Yeah.
- 16:42Fraud juice to make yummy meals.
- 16:44Like, I don't know.
- 16:45And I think I was maybe having a bit of a skitty week.
- 16:48And I was like, oh, I need to start cooking again.
- 16:50Yeah.
- 16:51I just wanted to find my eating out.
- 16:52I just find a solid time in swimming.
- 16:54I know it is.
- 16:55But I agree.
- 16:56When you can cook your own food,
- 16:58way beautifully.
- 16:58Yeah.
- 16:59And last one here.
- 17:01$133 pounds.
- 17:03Oh, that's a lot.
- 17:04That's like 260 bucks on what?
- 17:08To a friend.
- 17:09Can I say?
- 17:10Can I say the name?
- 17:11Can I say?
- 17:12It's too obvious.
- 17:12Where?
- 17:13Oh, this is probably you paying the back for Sicily?
- 17:16Where is it?
- 17:17Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 17:18That's exactly one of those.
- 17:19So, um, you sure?
- 17:21Well, so we were in Sicily.
- 17:22We used to put wires as you were saying before.
- 17:24When you went to Grace, it's very good.
- 17:26And, um, there was,
- 17:29I thought that I'd settled down and I hadn't.
- 17:32And I think, because that was quite late, wasn't it?
- 17:34Yeah, I mean, that's six weeks later.
- 17:38She's probably like, where is my money?
- 17:40I don't even worry about it.
- 17:41Yeah.
- 17:42No, in the worst part,
- 17:43while I tried to, it was a wrong amount.
- 17:44So, she had to transfer me back.
- 17:47Oh, I'm just the most wise.
- 17:50No, it was funny that whole trip.
- 17:51It's like, everyone was talking in the messenger,
- 17:54in Facebook Messenger.
- 17:56And so, it was like, I don't have Facebook.
- 17:57So, it was not, of course,
- 17:58any of the comms, like, not paying for accommodation,
- 18:01paying for the shift, paying for what was quite funny.
- 18:03Um, but what I would say, so if it's maybe...
- 18:06Oh, it's so giving feedback.
- 18:07Yeah, yeah.
- 18:08You want my advice?
- 18:12All right, hey, what?
- 18:12I mean, the transport is a disaster.
- 18:15I shouldn't be spending money on all these things.
- 18:17It's funny though, but, like, those lines,
- 18:19like, they do add up, but, I mean, they're pretty small costs.
- 18:22Yeah.
- 18:22So, I'm getting a tick of approval for the lines.
- 18:24I mean, Marxon's means it's not that expensive.
- 18:27Are the whole foods?
- 18:28The whole foods is probably the stinger.
- 18:30Yeah.
- 18:30Maybe try and shop it, but then...
- 18:32But that's my favourite shop.
- 18:33I know, okay.
- 18:34This was probably a good conversation then around,
- 18:36what do you value spending money on?
- 18:38This is not a hell of a lot of transactions in there for a week,
- 18:41to be honest.
- 18:42I was getting cash out on the side.
- 18:44Are you serious?
- 18:45That's actually a very big compliment.
- 18:47Oh, very, very big.
- 18:49I don't know what that was.
- 18:53Well, they're waiting for, like,
- 18:54what was she doing?
- 18:56It just couldn't be...
- 18:58It could be all it was following up with, like, an explanation.
- 19:02And one thing, high five, what's more,
- 19:06that you transfer big chunks of money in at once,
- 19:10which is really, really good out.
- 19:11Your hand is weird, gross.
- 19:13I just...
- 19:14Just wipe my mouth.
- 19:17No, I've got a cold coffee in my hand.
- 19:19Oh, yeah.
- 19:19And it's leaking through into the paper cup.
- 19:24Yes, but what I was saying,
- 19:25before a high five dual wet hand, was
- 19:28that you transfer money in big chunks, which is really good,
- 19:31because that means you're paying these fees.
- 19:34You know, you're not transferring all the time.
- 19:35I thought it was just a sin to do the money anyway.
- 19:37It is, but you still get the exchange rate,
- 19:40like, cost and stuff.
- 19:40So, yeah, no, it is good.
- 19:42Do you have any other, like, high five moments for me?
- 19:45No, no, it's all, okay.
- 19:48Oh, I'll take it.
- 19:49Oh, I've got this pop-ins.
- 19:50Yeah, is this bakery purchasing them there?
- 19:52Yeah.
- 19:53What was my total?
- 19:54I'd like, not my total weekly spend was.
- 19:57I know what yours is, don't you know?
- 19:59No.
- 20:00Okay, yours was.
- 20:02Holy fuck.
- 20:04Oh, my God.
- 20:05No, this is really...
- 20:06I've got a really important terrible giant transaction.
- 20:09So, you spent $1,825 on...
- 20:14Taylor?
- 20:14No, on clothes, I think, on matches.
- 20:17Oh, yes, matches.
- 20:18I've seen it back.
- 20:19Did you buy some clothes?
- 20:21Yes.
- 20:23Yes.
- 20:23No, I was trying bikinis.
- 20:26$1,000 was not.
- 20:27And some others, like, summer stuff.
- 20:29But, I just, like,
- 20:30trying to find the comfort of my own home,
- 20:32especially bikini.
- 20:33So, you just sent it back to different sizes.
- 20:35And send it back.
- 20:36Which I know it's not good from a carbon footprint point of view.
- 20:39No, not right.
- 20:39But you didn't keep it.
- 20:40No, I definitely didn't keep it.
- 20:42I can't afford to keep that.
- 20:43Yeah, no.
- 20:43Unfortunately, I'd love to spend that much in the juice.
- 20:45Very nice.
- 20:45Yeah.
- 20:46I must say, like, appreciate the feedback.
- 20:48I actually feel quite proud of myself
- 20:50that you haven't rinsed me so badly.
- 20:51I think I rinsed you more.
- 20:53You didn't.
- 20:53You definitely did.
- 20:54I mean, it was a rinsable week.
- 20:56Yeah.
- 20:58I mean, there's a lot of, like, a non...
- 21:00A normally?
- 21:01Anomalies in there.
- 21:02Yeah.
- 21:03I do think what you want.
- 21:04Maybe I should bring some tequila in for the next episode.
- 21:07I mean, I've got enough bottles.
- 21:08Be so fun.
- 21:09Yeah.
- 21:10Let's do that.
- 21:11Yeah, fun.
- 21:12One thing you did create recently,
- 21:14which I think is actually kind of relevant to what we've just talked about,
- 21:17is the money diary that you've got together.
- 21:20Because that's basically...
- 21:22Maybe you explain what it is.
- 21:23Yeah, so the money diary, it's a really great tool.
- 21:26It's been out a while ago,
- 21:28and we've put it on socials, and I know we've said that.
- 21:29In case you missed it, it's probably worth mentioning.
- 21:31And it's really good.
- 21:32It's like a food diary, write down all your spending
- 21:35for the day, for the week, for the month,
- 21:37for as long as you can.
- 21:38The key is that you write down next to it
- 21:40how it made you feel.
- 21:41Because there's a little mode
- 21:42as you can choose from, right?
- 21:44It's a very sad nature to be whatever.
- 21:47So like next to budgets,
- 21:49you would, where you did your emotional eating.
- 21:51Oh, I just had faith.
- 21:52Yes, had faith, yeah, yeah.
- 21:53Okay, yeah.
- 21:54Yeah, didn't make me very happy.
- 21:56Yeah, next to my...
- 21:57All your spending?
- 22:00Would you do a killer?
- 22:01It would be the naughty, like, the horny and the magical.
- 22:02Yeah, the horny.
- 22:03Yeah, horny?
- 22:04No, just the horny.
- 22:05You know, like the purple horny.
- 22:06Yeah, that's what I was...
- 22:07Yeah.
- 22:08So you write down what you spent your money on,
- 22:09and then you have a little drop-down emoji too.
- 22:13It's almost like a self-reflection, almost.
- 22:16Yeah, it's like a self-reflection on how you felt.
- 22:19So I reckon the best way to do it probably
- 22:21is actually just do what we did.
- 22:22Get a whole wake of your spending.
- 22:24Sit down with the money diary.
- 22:25Yeah.
- 22:26Transfer everything across,
- 22:27and then go through and be like,
- 22:29I might be having...
- 22:30Like, Lyme.
- 22:30You've been, oh my gosh, I was stressed.
- 22:32That'll be my stress emoji.
- 22:33Yeah.
- 22:33You know, because I was trying it to a meeting.
- 22:34Yeah.
- 22:35Class class felt good
- 22:36because I was exercising
- 22:38and, you know, feeling healthy and well.
- 22:42Child bottles of killer.
- 22:43Probably a bit stressful.
- 22:44No, I mean, it depends, you know,
- 22:45probably excited one point,
- 22:46and then hung over the next.
- 22:48Delivero, not good.
- 22:49No, Delivero said.
- 22:50Definitely said.
- 22:53But we're going to look at
- 22:55and do the show now.
- 22:56It's a good podcast.
- 22:57Yeah.
- 22:57So if you haven't tried the money diary,
- 23:00give it a go.
- 23:01And actually, if you feel comfortable,
- 23:02no pressure,
- 23:04but would love to hear if you find anything
- 23:06up from doing it.
- 23:06If you're like, wow, I didn't realize I felt
- 23:09like this when I spent money on this.
- 23:11And hey, if you want to give this
- 23:12what I spent in a week
- 23:14ago with your friend of yours,
- 23:15it's quite fun.
- 23:16Yeah.
- 23:17Or a partner, maybe like a new relationship
- 23:19or something,
- 23:19be quite interesting.
- 23:20That's a quite funny.
- 23:21Yeah.
- 23:22So give it a go.
- 23:23I mean, we should be having
- 23:25these money conversations.
- 23:26We should be talking about what we're spending.
- 23:27We shouldn't be ashamed of it.
- 23:28I mean, there's some in there
- 23:29that I am ashamed of.
- 23:30But I'm like, yeah, it's part of me.
- 23:32You're also kind of like talking about things.
- 23:33I think we'll move some of the shame.
- 23:35You know, like, as soon as you're like,
- 23:36you have more child bottles of killer
- 23:38with a shocker.
- 23:39It kind of takes the power of the whole situation away.
- 23:42And I do think that's the main problem
- 23:44when it comes to talking about money
- 23:45is because we don't talk about it.
- 23:46That shame increases.
- 23:47But if you can just have like a lighthearted conversation
- 23:49about it, quite fun.
- 23:50Yeah.
- 23:50Yeah.
- 23:51But do a bit of next time.
- 23:52Yeah.
- 23:53We'll do.
- 23:54We actually should do this again
- 23:55and see if either of us improved.
- 23:57Yeah.
- 23:58And maybe if we go through them,
- 23:59I like, did that make you feel happy or sad?
- 24:01Yes.
- 24:01Did that make you happy or sad?
- 24:03Because I think that would be kind of interesting.
- 24:05Yeah.
- 24:05And I'll make sure there's no deliveries on there.
- 24:07Wow.
- 24:08They'll just be like, cash out.
- 24:10Cash out.
- 24:10Yeah.
