- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville, Jack Wars fans.
- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome in to DoveWalt Daily, presented by jing Jack.com.
- 0:03[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jordan Lugo.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks so much for being here Tuesday.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: February 24th, one day closer to free agency.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: March 9th is when that really gets kicked off with the legal tampering period.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: One day closer to on-field workouts for the NFL combine.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: One day closer to the draft.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_00]: We're getting their folks.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, March 9th, not too far away.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to be there very
- 0:27[SPEAKER_00]: and we'll be able to start figuring out exactly what the Jaguars have going on.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, you might see some cuts before then, you might see different things happening, but right now we're going to talk about the big free agents for the Jaguars heading in to this 2026 free agency cycle.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: What I think is going to happen with each of these guys.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: That's where we're going right now with these big names and so I'm excited to get into it.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: You can also check out gymjag.com, pick up some new dooval gear like that.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: I am wearing right now.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: Can also hit that hype button, helps out a ton.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: So, Devon Lloyd is set to be the biggest money free agent for the Jag wars.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: The 27 year old off-ball linebacker coming off a second team all-pro season.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: Really could have been first team without question with the level of performance he put on the field last year with the Jacksonville Jag wars.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: To set the table here, I think the Jack Wars really as a regime, as an organization, we don't know what they will do because we just haven't seen them have a full off season yet.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: This is their first full off season together.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: But based on where James Gladstone comes from, Liam Cohen comes from, you know, heavy influences from the Los Angeles Rams.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: A level of confidence internally in that building, and their ability to not only coach, but to find talent, both on the cheaper parts of frequency and in the draft.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: I believe the Jack Wars will play the compensatory pick formula game, this offseason.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: What does that mean?
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think that will let Devon Lloyd walk and hopes of earning a third round compensatory pick for Devon Lloyd.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: You need to be in the top 5% of your position,
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: contract wise for the team that you left as an unrestricted free agent, which is what Devin Lloyd is going to be unless the Jaguar is resigning him.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: For that team to earn a third round compensatory pick, if Devin Lloyd gets $20 million, he's going to be right up there.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: So I think at worst you're probably looking at a fourth round compensatory pick, add best you're looking at a third round compensatory pick.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguars are going to let that happen.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think the rest of it is not as cut and dry.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: If Travis ETN is going to earn a contract, that would put him in the top 35% at the running back position contract wise, value wise, that would earn the Jaguars A.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: Seventh round, compensatory pick.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: And these are picks for 2027, just in case you didn't know that.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: These are picks for 2027.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think if ETN can earn them a compensatory pick, even in the seventh round, I think they'll probably let him walk.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: That's not guaranteed.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of different opinions and differing opinions on like what ETN's contract would look like.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: I believe he will be in the top 35% of running back contract.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's going to get 12 probably, at least 12.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: He's just so dynamic, explosive, reliable.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: like great runner, explosive runner, really good receiver, good in past pro, has not fumbled the ball much at all the last three years.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I think
- 4:13[SPEAKER_00]: If E.T.N, if they can get a comp pick for E.T.N, I think he walks to, I think the same thing about Buster Brown, I feel less confident that his contract would earn the Jack Wars a compensatory pick, which makes me feel more confident that they might get a deal done with them.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: They could, again, they have, they're over the cap right now.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: That needs to be said, they're about 10 million over the cap, 10 to 12 million over the cap.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: If they want to just get into a healthier cap situation, they can just do basic restructures that players don't even have to agree to, to execute and get well in the range of having enough salary cap to be able to operate in free agency, not signing any big names and free agency necessarily, but
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: but getting into a place where they can sign players that they wanna retain or that they wanna bring in that are outside of the compensatory pick range, which again is outside of the top 35% of your position.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: Buster Brown, again, I don't think he'll be a top 35% corner contract, but even if he's not, he might be a little bit more than the Jaguars would wanna spend.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: I know they love Buster Brown.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a huge fan of his game in this system.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: but if they do let us to round walk, which I guess I'm predicting that he'll be back.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: That's my prediction with Buster Brown.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think ETN and Lloyd Argonne, I think Buster Brown is back.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: We haven't mentioned Greg Newsom.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_00]: He's also another starting corner back set to be an understricted free agent.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't see him as a fit with the Jaguars.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: When he got here, there was optimism, there was excitement, but overall, it just didn't seem like he was a fit.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: There was too many games in which he was the weakest link.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: amongst their cover players, amongst their corners.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: So, I think that they let him walk, again, I don't think he's a player that will earn a contract that will factor into the compensatory pick formula.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think Buster Brown will earn that type of contract either.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: So, I think they retain Buster Brown, but if they don't, I definitely think you're looking at players like Resoul Douglas, Eric Stokes potentially,
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: And in that scenario where they don't retain Buster Brown, you're probably talking about a draft pick at some point that's gonna come in and compete as well.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: You have Travis Hunter, you have Jarian Jones who can play outside, you have Jordan Lewis who's coming off the injury, you have Christian Braswell, you have Keith Taylor, but I still think if they downgrade from Buster Brown, I think you're definitely talking about a corner coming in to compete.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: Even if they keep us to a brown, they might bring in a corner to compete.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: So that's kind of where I'm at at the corner back position.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think plus to a brown stays, I think Greg News some walks, think Devon Lloyd walks.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: I think Travis C.T.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: and walks for the Jack Wars.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: That's that's my thoughts on the big names right now.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: You also have other players like Doe Wingard, Tim Patrick, Austin Johnson, Dennis Gardeck.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_00]: I believe Gardeck will be back
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: Diami Brown.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think it's gonna be back quitting Morris.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: I think we'll be back smooth.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: I could see going either way, but I would predict him to be back Do we?
- 7:41[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know that they're gonna retain do we wingered Good special teams player, but you're talking about Eric Murray at safety Antonio Johnson Caleb Ransal Rayon Lane
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to sign Andrew Winger to add to that group.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe you do.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'm predicting he's gone though.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: Unfortunately.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: I think some team is going to value you him more than the Jaguars.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: But out of the kind of lesser names, I think Dennis Gardeck will be back.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: I think Quentin Morris will be back.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: I think Dawn's smooth will be back.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: Tim Patrick is up in the air.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think they definitely like what he can do as a fourth, fifth receiver.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: I would probably predict him to be back, honestly.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: I think that they like what he can give them.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: Even if he's like, your last receiver.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, Austin Johnson, I can see them bringing him back to.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, those are the big names for free agency.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: And now that's not the end of what I've got to share here.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: I also think that even though we just talked about losing big names, keeping smaller names, I think that the Jaguars will make a big move.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: Perhaps a trade?
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: perhaps the signing of a player who has been released, neither of those moves, would impact the compensatory pick formula.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: If you trade for a big player, that's not going to impact the convict formula.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: If you sign a player who has been released, not going to impact the compensatory pick formula.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: So we've talked about trades where a defense of Lyman, there's a number of,
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: interior defensive linemen we've brought up uh... dexter lords which would be like unbelievable swing but there's some other guys as well they're on pain the jackwares were in on trading for quinnan Williams
- 10:01[SPEAKER_00]: Before the trade deadline, so I definitely think that they could be aggressive in that regard, and that's Part of why the compensatory pick formula is so important.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: If you're trading away draft capital for a star player You want to have plenty of draft capital to move forward with following the 2026 draft Everybody talks about Max Crosby, right?
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: that would be unbelievable if the Jaguars were able to land a max crossby, but you know, Bradley Chubbe is out there after being released.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: There's definitely some guys that have worked with, worked with the Jaguars current defensive coaching staff that could be potentially have made available after release or via trade.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: You think about some guys like Zach Seeler from the Dolphins.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: Not coming off the biggest year, getting up there in age, but I still think would be a big upgrade for the Jaguars.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: You think about, I mean, Kaleis Campbell, somebody you can sign, and he's not going to impact the historic pick formula at all.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: This probably would eliminate a signing of like John Franklin Myers if the Jaguars are playing this game, which I think that they will.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: I think he'll just be too expensive in terms of factoring into the compensatory pick formula, and then potentially canceling out what you got.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think they're gonna make a big move.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think that James Gladstone knows he needs to have another impact player on the interior, the defensive line or on the defensive line in general.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: And that's where you're gonna see a big move come.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: It is on the defensive line.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_00]: Let me know what y'all think in the comment section below.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: I know everybody's talking about trading Brian Thomas Jr.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think it's gonna happen.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that is one of the hottest topics though.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: But that's kind of my outline for what I expect to happen over the next few weeks.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_00]: I expect the Jaguars to come up with something big, but I also expect them to lose Devon Lloyd, Travis C. T. N. Greg Newsom, some of their other free agents.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_00]: Buster Brown and predicting will be back.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: Along with smooth, Morris, Gardec, Johnson and Patrick.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_00]: all on very, very like minimum type deals, right?
- 12:23[SPEAKER_00]: Close to the league minimum.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: But that'll do it here.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all have a good one.
