- Lucas: Hej again, and welcome back to Learn Danish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode twenty three — can you believe it? Lucas: I know. And we're going to do something cozy today. Furniture. Luna: Oh, furniture. Like, things you have at home? Lucas: Exactly. So picture this — you're sitting on something right now, I hope. Luna: Yeah, I'm on a chair. Lucas: Right. And in Danish, a chair is 'en stol'. Luna: En stol. Lucas: Good. En stol. Let's say it together. En stol. Luna: En stol. Lucas: Perfect. Now, what about this? In front of you, maybe a table. Luna: A table. 'Et bord'? Lucas: Yes! Et bord. Great guess. Luna: Oh, because we had 'et' with some words before. Lucas: Exactly. 'En' is for common gender nouns, 'et' for neuter. So 'en stol', 'et bord'. Luna: Okay. Et bord. Lucas: Repeat after me: Et bord. Luna: Et bord. Lucas: Lovely. Now, another piece. Where you sleep. Luna: A bed? En seng? Lucas: Yes! En seng. You're on a roll. Luna: En seng. That sounds nice. Lucas: It does. And one more — a cupboard or a wardrobe. 'Et skab'. Luna: Et skab. Like, you put clothes in it? Lucas: Exactly. So let's hear them all. En stol, et bord, en seng, et skab. Luna: En stol, et bord, en seng, et skab. Lucas: Really good. Now let's use them in a simple sentence. Say 'I have a chair.' In Danish, 'Jeg har en stol.' Luna: Jeg har en stol. Lucas: Yeah. Jeg har en stol. Try with table. Luna: Jeg har et bord. Lucas: Beautiful. And bed? Luna: Jeg har en seng. Lucas: Perfect. Now, let's imagine you're at a friend's house. They show you their new furniture. You can say 'Du har en flot stol.' — You have a nice chair. Luna: Du har en flot stol. But 'flot' means nice, right? Lucas: Yeah. But focus on the furniture. Let's practice 'Du har et bord.' Luna: Du har et bord. Lucas: And 'Du har en seng.' Luna: Du har en seng. Lucas: Great. Now, a small scene. You walk into a room and say 'Der er en stol og et bord.' — There is a chair and a table. Luna: Der er en stol og et bord. Lucas: Yes. And maybe 'Der er et skab.' Luna: Der er et skab. Lucas: Excellent. Let's do a quick review. How do you say 'a chair'? Luna: En stol. Lucas: A table? Luna: Et bord. Lucas: A bed? Luna: En seng. Lucas: A cupboard? Luna: Et skab. Lucas: And 'I have a chair'? Luna: Jeg har en stol. Lucas: Perfect. Now you can point to things around you and name them. Try it next time you see a chair. Luna: I will. Tak, Lucas. Lucas: Det var så lidt. And thank you for listening to Learn Danish with Fexingo. Practice these words, and we'll see you next time. Luna: Vi ses!
