  Speaker 6: I I've been in the toy business for a long time.

  Speaker 6: I actually the first action figure I got I got

  Speaker 6: involved with was Evil Knievel back in the late seven

  Speaker 6: Oh wow cool yeah, yeah, And from there I spent
• 2:53
  Speaker 6: twenty years at at Remco and did a ton of
• 2:56
  Speaker 6: action figures. Uh you know, I mean, I you know,
• 3:00
  Speaker 6: from superheroes to everything in the you know, pretty much
• 3:04
  Speaker 6: in a Marble vault, the DC vault. But it was
• 3:07
  Speaker 6: in nineteen eighty three. I believe that I was sitting
• 3:11
  Speaker 6: on my couch with my kids watching watching wrestling. It
• 3:15
  Speaker 6: was like that was kind of our family time. And
• 3:18
  Speaker 6: I looked at the you know, a week after week,
• 3:20
  Speaker 6: I'm looking at these guys. I'm getting into it. I'm
• 3:21
  Speaker 6: getting into the names, I'm getting into the persona. I'm
• 3:24
  Speaker 6: getting into what's happening on the screen. And I said
• 3:28
  Speaker 6: to my boys, I said, you know something, these are
• 3:30
  Speaker 6: real life superheroes. And the next morning I woke over
• 3:34
  Speaker 6: to the whole thing. The next morning I was on
• 3:36
  Speaker 6: the phone with Vince McMahon. The following day, I drove
• 3:40
  Speaker 6: up to Stanford, Connecticut. They were in a very very
• 3:43
  Speaker 6: tiny office, not what you see now when you drive
• 3:45
  Speaker 6: up ninety five. I met with I met with Vince
• 3:48
  Speaker 6: and his wife. There was no receptionist, and I walked
• 3:51
  Speaker 6: out of there with a deal. And yes I did
• 3:54
  Speaker 6: pay up front money, okay, and basically Vince and I
• 3:59
  Speaker 6: had a handshake. Won't go any further than that. We
• 4:02
  Speaker 6: had a handshake. We started, we started negotiating the contracts
• 4:06
  Speaker 6: from the standpoint of legal lease. I started or we
• 4:10
  Speaker 6: started investing money into building our first figure, which of
• 4:14
  Speaker 6: course was Hulk. And about three or four weeks, maybe
• 4:18
  Speaker 6: even five weeks, I went up there for a meeting
• 4:21
  Speaker 6: and I walked into Vince's again, it was just Vince
• 4:24
  Speaker 6: and I. There was nobody else. The kids, of course,
• 4:26
  Speaker 6: were kids were babies. So I walk in and Vince
• 4:29
  Speaker 6: throws a Glub catalog, you know, right on the right
• 4:34
  Speaker 6: on the table as I walk in, and he says,
• 4:36
  Speaker 6: do you know these guys? And I said, sure, I said,
• 4:38
  Speaker 6: David Galoube's a good friend of mine. Have known him
• 4:40
  Speaker 6: forever since I've been in the toy business. When I
• 4:42
  Speaker 6: walked out of there, I knew something was up. So
• 4:45
  Speaker 6: sure enough, about a week week and a half later,
• 4:48
  Speaker 6: he pulls the contract from us. Glub jumps in. You know,
• 4:53
  Speaker 6: I'm going to fast forward. Then he pulls the contract
• 4:56
  Speaker 6: from Glub. Yeah, and LJ and I know Jackie Freeman,
• 5:01
  Speaker 6: he should rescue Peace. I know Jackie really really well,
• 5:04
  Speaker 6: and uh, you know, so But what I did was
• 5:07
  Speaker 6: because it's just my style type of guy that I am.

  Speaker 6: I said, there was no way that forget the money
• 5:12
  Speaker 6: we spent on the sample for for Hull. And it was,
• 5:15
  Speaker 6: by the way, if we could find that sample today,
• 5:19
  Speaker 6: is there even a photo of it? There might be.

  Speaker 6: You know, I got photos of a lot, you know,
• 5:25
  Speaker 6: almost everything I've done. But if we could find that,

  Speaker 6: that's like the holy grail, because.

  Speaker 5: That was the first photo, would be a big deal.

  Speaker 6: That was the first ever anything, you know, in wrestling
• 5:36
  Speaker 6: and uh and it was done in clay, you know,
• 5:38
  Speaker 6: you know, none of you know, none of this three
• 5:40
  Speaker 6: D stuff, none of the digital sculpting and stuff like that.

  Speaker 6: So anyway, so when I got back, when I got
• 5:45
  Speaker 6: back to my office, I pulled my team together and
• 5:47
  Speaker 6: I said, look, l j N's got the WWE, but
• 5:52
  Speaker 6: we know there's plenty more things going on out there.

  Speaker 6: So I did my due diligence. I had my team
• 5:57
  Speaker 6: do my due diligence, and found out that there was
• 6:01
  Speaker 6: a gentleman who truly was a gentleman. He should also
• 6:04
  Speaker 6: rest in peace out in out in Minneapolis, and he
• 6:10
  Speaker 6: named verne Ganye and I flew right out there. I
• 6:14
  Speaker 6: was out there within twenty four hours and Vernon I
• 6:16
  Speaker 6: sat down, we hashed out a deal and we from there.
• 6:21
  Speaker 6: Of course, Greg at that time was you know, he
• 6:24
  Speaker 6: was he was a wrestler, you know, and but vern
• 6:27
  Speaker 6: was let me tell you something. They threw away the
• 6:30
  Speaker 6: mold on this guy. Now, you guys know wrestling better
• 6:32
  Speaker 6: than I do, and you know what the promoters were like.
• 6:35
  Speaker 6: But this guy was just you know, I want to
• 6:37
  Speaker 6: say he was one of the most honest guys I've
• 6:39
  Speaker 6: ever met. He treated me like a true gentleman. Anything
• 6:42
  Speaker 6: he told me was straight. And we put together a good,
• 6:47
  Speaker 6: you know, a good two three four year run. We
• 6:50
  Speaker 6: know all the problems about the AWA. We know all
• 6:52
  Speaker 6: the talent that came through the AWA, I mean, and
• 6:56
  Speaker 6: the list goes on and on. And I met most
• 6:58
  Speaker 6: of them. I mean I I you know, I met
• 7:00
  Speaker 6: I mean, you know, Terry Bolt Belia, he used to
• 7:03
  Speaker 6: come in because he was a friend. He was a
• 7:05
  Speaker 6: friend of Vern's for sure. And all of these guys,
• 7:08
  Speaker 6: you know, and you know what Vince did. You know,
• 7:10
  Speaker 6: Vern basically trained them created their persona, including me and Jene.
• 7:15
  Speaker 6: You know, you know there you go right there and
• 7:17
  Speaker 6: all these guys just flowed right through the to the WWE.

  Speaker 6: WWF have vern been able to hold on to these guys,
• 7:24
  Speaker 6: you know, the history of wrestling would have been a
• 7:25
  Speaker 6: lot different. But uh, you know, so we were the
• 7:28
  Speaker 6: first guy. We were the first fully articulated action figure
• 7:32
  Speaker 6: in the marketplace. You know, you.

  Speaker 7: Think those Vince deals fell apart just for dollars and
• 7:37
  Speaker 7: centsus He's just looking for the best deal.

  Speaker 5: Or it had something to do with you.

  Speaker 6: Yeah, no, it was dollars and cents. Okay, yeah, yeah,
• 7:46
  Speaker 6: I mean, and I'll tell you we offered him. I
• 7:48
  Speaker 6: went in there, would have checked the twenty five thousand, okay. Uh,

  Speaker 6: he took the check, he cashed the check. Of course,
• 7:53
  Speaker 6: he got the money back. But then then Glubinan offered
• 7:57
  Speaker 6: him fifty. He took that. Then Jackie went in or
• 8:00
  Speaker 6: for them one hundred. After Jackie, there was nobody else.

  Speaker 6: I mean, it was but you know, it got to
• 8:05
  Speaker 6: it just got to be ridiculous after that. But when

  Speaker 6: I look back at what we created, you know, I

  Speaker 6: never really realized, you know, I you know, because I've

  Speaker 6: done a lot of stuff. I mean, right after that,

  Speaker 6: I did Karate Kid, you know, and a lot of

  Speaker 6: other action figures, and uh, but what we've created in
• 8:23
  Speaker 6: the last forty years and to think that this is
• 8:26
  Speaker 6: now a multi you know that there's been billions of
• 8:29
  Speaker 6: dollars that have gone through the consumer's hands from the
• 8:32
  Speaker 6: standpoint of you know, wrestling figures, and it's still going
• 8:35
  Speaker 6: on to today. It's it's unbelievable, it really is.

  Speaker 5: You know. For us, we were born in eighty five,
• 8:40
  Speaker 5: so we missed that era. Of course, we were able
• 8:42
  Speaker 5: to go back and watch it, whether it was DVDs
• 8:45
  Speaker 5: or the WWE network. But those figures, they're iconic. They're
• 8:49
  Speaker 5: they're iconic figures. I have gotten back. I've gone back
• 8:52
  Speaker 5: and I've gotten them all. I have every single one.

  Speaker 5: That's how iconic they are.

  Speaker 6: And you thought about the Remco figures them, Yeah, yeah,

  Speaker 6: I mean, I mean there's a couple, there's a by

  Speaker 6: the way, this guy up here, you know, you know

  Speaker 6: And the only figure that I have that, uh, I

  Speaker 6: have a Rick Mortel figure autograph, you know, and yeah

  Speaker 6: it's sitting right, it's sitting right back here. And uh,

  Speaker 6: I just didn't think of it. You know, we did,

  Speaker 6: we did we. I even did some w w E
• 9:52
  Speaker 6: stuff later on, I did rod Hockey. I don't know

  Speaker 6: if you guys remember that. I took all the figures,

  Speaker 6: you know, the you know, the the heels and the

  Speaker 6: faces and you know the baby faces, and you know,

  Speaker 6: put them all into rod hockey and you know, I

  Speaker 6: hoke on one side and.

  Speaker 5: The other I had. I remember that from my childhood. Yeah.

  Speaker 5: Everyone that's still stealed in the box. It's very very

  Speaker 5: hard to come by now.

  Speaker 6: Yeah, I know, don't tell me.

  Speaker 5: Just the character like pieces sell for decent money.

  Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean I made uh it when I first

  Speaker 6: came out with the wrestlers, I did you know in

  Speaker 6: some of the boxes, as I you know, as I

  Speaker 6: changed the iterations around and you know, put different accessories.

  Speaker 6: I mean I did little you know, the little tiny belts. Now,

  Speaker 6: these belts were not embellish, it was plastic. It was

  Speaker 6: you know, Tampa printed. Uh you know, I think I

  Speaker 6: made them for three or four cents of fifty bucks.

  Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I mean accessories. Some of the accessories of

  Speaker 5: the later figures sell for hundreds of dollars, like like
• 10:47
  Speaker 5: the chic accessories or nor the Barbarian or the Russian.

  Speaker 5: Their accessories are I don't even have them because now
• 10:54
  Speaker 5: people they're making like replica, they've been bootlegged.

  Speaker 6: They're so after yeah, without going into everything, you will

  Speaker 6: shortly have them.

  Speaker 5: We have them, are all oh wow, yeah, but okay.

  Speaker 5: So so you get out of the business and then

  Speaker 5: when does it all this time passages like holy shit,

  Speaker 5: like these figures are beloved, Like what happens when what

  Speaker 5: was Oh my god, people still collect these AWA figures.

  Speaker 6: What happened was, you know, I was you know, I

  Speaker 6: didn't get out of the business till twenty eighteen when
• 11:23
  Speaker 6: I retired. I had my own company, you know, I
• 11:25
  Speaker 6: sold the company, got out of the business and uh,
• 11:29
  Speaker 6: you know, and I really was focusing on golf. I mean,
• 11:31
  Speaker 6: I was just enjoying myself. I lived down, I lived
• 11:33
  Speaker 6: out in Florida, and so what happened was right around
• 11:39
  Speaker 6: when to COVID hit twenty. Yeah, yeah, there you go.
• 11:44
  Speaker 6: And my son, Scott, who's on the box, he discovered this,
• 11:51
  Speaker 6: you know, this Facebook page aw a remco Oh yeah okay,
• 11:56
  Speaker 6: and he he said, you know, he said, Dad, you
• 11:58
  Speaker 6: gotta get you got it. You got to check this out.

  Speaker 6: So I checked it out. Somehow they found out who
• 12:04
  Speaker 6: Scott was, and Scott said, well, you guys should really
• 12:08
  Speaker 6: be talking to my dad. And I didn't realize I
• 12:10
  Speaker 6: kind of had this semi celebrity status. But let me
• 12:16
  Speaker 6: put it to this way. When I saw what my
• 12:19
  Speaker 6: four ninety nine figures were getting, you know, two grandeh,
• 12:24
  Speaker 6: I immediately picked up the phone. I called Greg and
• 12:29
  Speaker 6: I said, Greg, we got to get back into business.

  Speaker 6: And you know, when I told Rage the story, it
• 12:35
  Speaker 6: took him about maybe forty five seconds to give me
• 12:39
  Speaker 6: a yes. And that's that's that's how it started. And
• 12:42
  Speaker 6: we've been you know, plugging along hair for the last
• 12:45
  Speaker 6: eight or nine months, and things are really starting to happen,
• 12:48
  Speaker 6: So that kind of that's a quick overview.

  Speaker 5: Because that style of figures, like you said, the first
• 12:54
  Speaker 5: articulated wrestling figures, it's so you know, it's so old,
• 12:58
  Speaker 5: but it's new. It's you know, a company, even w

  Speaker 5: W they have a line right now called Superstar, essentially
• 13:04
  Speaker 5: essentially a w A style figures. Even us, we have
• 13:07
  Speaker 5: our own figures off, you know, because the man, you know.
• 13:15
  Speaker 6: I'll tell you that's I'll tell you that story too.

  Speaker 6: I mean, you know, the only way I could get
• 13:19
  Speaker 6: the only way that I could get into the marketplace
• 13:21
  Speaker 6: before anybody else was I had to have the tooling

  Speaker 6: available stuff. Huh yeah, Well I did the Warlords, Okay,
• 13:30
  Speaker 6: and I did. I did the Warlords, and we also
• 13:33
  Speaker 6: we got sued. We got sued by Mattel. I mean
• 13:36
  Speaker 6: this is an I can tell you stories. I can remember.
• 13:38
  Speaker 6: We got sued by Mattel because they thought we knocked
• 13:41
  Speaker 6: off he man and masters in the universe. So I
• 13:44
  Speaker 6: go down with with my attorney, this guy Jesse Rodstein,
• 13:47
  Speaker 6: who nobody better when it came to trademarks and copyrights
• 13:50
  Speaker 6: and infringements. So we go down and where there's just
• 13:53
  Speaker 6: as Sergeant Shriver, one of the Kennedys, was downtown and
• 13:57
  Speaker 6: we walk in, myself and Jesse. There's twelve. He's sitting
• 14:00
  Speaker 6: around a table and he and I walk in. We
• 14:04
  Speaker 6: make our point, and these guys telling us what it's
• 14:07
  Speaker 6: going to cost. And so Jesse said, sue us, and
• 14:11
  Speaker 6: they actually wanted. Their position was that they owned that
• 14:16
  Speaker 6: physique of he they and the judge ruled, make a
• 14:20
  Speaker 6: long story short, that you can't copyright the human body.

  Speaker 6: There are certain designs, there are certain patents and things
• 14:27
  Speaker 6: like that. But anyway, so now I've got now I've
• 14:29
  Speaker 6: got the wrestlers, and I wanted to get into it quickly.

  Speaker 6: And all I did at that point just to get
• 14:36
  Speaker 6: in was I took my warlords. Remember they had cuffs
• 14:40
  Speaker 6: on their wrists and stuff like that. They had like
• 14:43
  Speaker 6: they had boots on. They came out of uh, I
• 14:45
  Speaker 6: don't know, out of the fifteen hundreds. But you know,
• 14:48
  Speaker 6: we sculpted heads. You know, we really did it right
• 14:51
  Speaker 6: when we hit it with the you know, with the
• 14:53
  Speaker 6: ring wear and stuff, because nothing was molded. Everything was clothing,
• 14:56
  Speaker 6: and we were we were literally in the market. This
• 14:59
  Speaker 6: that might sound quick, we were in a market. We
• 15:00
  Speaker 6: did six months. You know, I think we were. I
• 15:03
  Speaker 6: think we started like maybe in March and we were,
• 15:06
  Speaker 6: we were on the shelves and maybe September on.

  Speaker 5: It was quick eighty five, that was Yeah, it.

  Speaker 6: Was eighty eighty four, eighty five, eighty six somewhere in
• 15:17
  Speaker 6: that area there. But we got in it quickly, you know,
• 15:20
  Speaker 6: I mean, times have changed. You can't do that anymore.

  Speaker 6: Yeah, I know, I know, you know, and we you know,

  Speaker 6: we will. I mean, the Remco figures are very special

  Speaker 6: to me, so I know I'm going but you know

  Speaker 6: you'll be You'll be seeing those figures from us, you know,

  Speaker 7: So I guess when we yeah, when we first saw

  Speaker 7: the power Town images, we kind of thought they were

  Speaker 7: like a hybrid of like a modern day elite and

  Speaker 7: a Remco. We've since seen other ones that it seems like,
• 15:49
  Speaker 7: you know, evolution of man.

  Speaker 5: They've kind of said it.

  Speaker 6: When you first saw it, you said it a little
• 15:54
  Speaker 6: bit differently. I think it was a it was either
• 15:57
  Speaker 6: a marriage between a Remco figure and a and an
• 15:59
  Speaker 6: all to what happened was our intent was really to

  Speaker 6: make like a like a retro plus kind of thing,
• 16:09
  Speaker 6: and we really tried to see if we get hit
• 16:11
  Speaker 6: something in between, and when we when we did our
• 16:15
  Speaker 6: first media release, you know, you gotta listen to the consumer,
• 16:20
  Speaker 6: no matter what it costs you, because it's gonna cost
• 16:23
  Speaker 6: you more money if you put it out there, especially
• 16:26
  Speaker 6: if you're in retail. You know, you go brick and mortar.
• 16:28
  Speaker 6: That stuff doesn't sell, because everything now is doesn't sell.

  Speaker 6: You know, you send it back. So we listened, We
• 16:35
  Speaker 6: took everything in, We took a deep breath. We sat
• 16:38
  Speaker 6: down with our creative director Andy Frank, who by the way,
• 16:42
  Speaker 6: is still with us. There was some kind of rumor
• 16:45
  Speaker 6: that he had left. He's a he's an equity partner
• 16:47
  Speaker 6: and he comes out he comes out at McFarlane. So
• 16:50
  Speaker 6: this guy's unbelievable. So you know, we said, okay, look,
• 16:55
  Speaker 6: let's start from the beginning. You know, we know we're
• 16:58
  Speaker 6: going seven in scale. Know, I want all the heights
• 17:02
  Speaker 6: to be authentic. I don't want any of the heights
• 17:05
  Speaker 6: to be the same size.
