- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's your person, Michelle, or whatever. Did you know
- 0:04Speaker 1: that if you don't connect your microphone to your computer,
- 0:08Speaker 1: you can't record with it? Apparently, I didn't. Luckily, I
- 0:12Speaker 1: figured it out before I got too far into this recording.
- 0:16Speaker 1: But yeah, anyway, I'm here. You're here. We're all here,
- 0:20Speaker 1: I guess. And I don't know. I'm still recording about
- 0:25Speaker 1: two weeks ahead of when I need to, which is nice,
- 0:28Speaker 1: but of course puts me a little bit behind you
- 0:30Speaker 1: as regards to what's happening in the world. But I
- 0:33Speaker 1: did want to say, hey, oh my god, yesterday I
- 0:37Speaker 1: got to watch the first episode of the new Magic
- 0:40Speaker 1: Knight Rayearth reboot. And I was very, very excited because,
- 0:44Speaker 1: you know, Magic Knight Rayearth and my childhood and stuff,
- 0:49Speaker 1: I thought it was totally serviceable. I liked hearing the
- 0:53Speaker 1: opening theme song at the very end of the episode.
- 0:55Speaker 1: That was awesome. And I was very excited because I
- 0:57Speaker 1: love that opening song. But other than that, I thought
- 1:01Speaker 1: it was like real fine. I watched the original first
- 1:04Speaker 1: episode right after and I realized that like the pacing
- 1:09Speaker 1: is totally different. Like the original first episode is like real,
- 1:12Speaker 1: real quick. Like everything's happening like rapid fire and this
- 1:16Speaker 1: slows things down a little bit. And I think that's
- 1:18Speaker 1: a good thing. But I'm wondering how that's going to work,
- 1:21Speaker 1: like how many episodes this is going to take. Of course,
- 1:24Speaker 1: if you know anything about Magic Knight Rayearth, you know
- 1:26Speaker 1: that the anime kind of went off in a direction
- 1:28Speaker 1: of its own in the second season. But in the
- 1:30Speaker 1: first season, there was like weirdness too, where there were
- 1:34Speaker 1: just things that were like changed from the manga for
- 1:37Speaker 1: whatever reason. So it'll be interesting to see if they
- 1:40Speaker 1: fix that. I assume they're going to, but yeah. It
- 1:44Speaker 1: was okay. It was really okay. It looks pretty in
- 1:47Speaker 1: the way that Clamp art looks pretty which i think
- 1:50Speaker 1: it does um i thought the animation was like fine
- 1:55Speaker 1: like i didn't see anything that was really good i
- 1:57Speaker 1: feel like i saw like at least one off model
- 2:00Speaker 1: thing with one of the girls so we'll see what
- 2:03Speaker 1: this is like going forward yeah i'm i'm i guess
- 2:07Speaker 1: cautiously optimistic as much as i can be but i
- 2:11Speaker 1: think realistically magic knight rareth is just fine out of
- 2:16Speaker 1: all of the shoujo isekai from that time period that
- 2:19Speaker 1: I watched, which is not all of them, this is
- 2:22Speaker 1: probably the least interesting, definitely least adult out of the
- 2:29Speaker 1: ones that I've watched. It feels like it's geared towards
- 2:32Speaker 1: slightly younger teens. But yeah, so we'll see if I
- 2:38Speaker 1: can really get into it or not. I'm not sure, honestly.
- 2:42Speaker 1: But That's okay. I hope that you watched it and
- 2:47Speaker 1: then you thought, wow, I love this so much. I've
- 2:49Speaker 1: never seen it before and everything's going to be good
- 2:52Speaker 1: for the rest of my life just because I watched
- 2:54Speaker 1: this one anime reboot or something. I don't know, guys.
- 2:58Speaker 1: I'm having a weird day life. I crashed my drone
- 3:02Speaker 1: again and I can't really say again, I guess, because
- 3:05Speaker 1: it's a different drone because the last time I crashed
- 3:07Speaker 1: a drone was two years ago and that's when it
- 3:10Speaker 1: flew into my hand and I bled all over the place.
- 3:13Speaker 1: And then it fell on the ground and exploded without
- 3:15Speaker 1: like fire, just boom. But this time I crashed into
- 3:19Speaker 1: a tree branch, then into a roof, then into another roof,
- 3:22Speaker 1: and then into the ground. So yeah, that sucks. Now
- 3:27Speaker 1: I don't have a drone for a couple of minutes
- 3:28Speaker 1: until I get a replacement drone. So yeah, I know
- 3:32Speaker 1: that you don't care. I'm not sure why I'm telling
- 3:34Speaker 1: you this. I should probably just talk about the thing
- 3:36Speaker 1: that we are here to talk about, but I'm kind
- 3:38Speaker 1: of dreading, because it's this episode... But yeah, we should
- 3:42Speaker 1: do it. So number six, episode four is called Good
- 3:46Speaker 1: and Evil. Um, why is it called that actually? Uh,
- 3:50Speaker 1: I'm not sure. I mean, there's bad things in this episode. Definitely.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Are there good things in this episode? No, I don't
- 3:59Speaker 1: think so. It should just probably be called like, eh,
- 4:04Speaker 1: kind of okay-ish or something and evil. But maybe I'm wrong.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Maybe you think this is a good episode title. Whatever.
- 4:10Speaker 1: We'll see. So in case you don't remember, at the
- 4:13Speaker 1: end of episode three, I believe Shion and Nezumi were
- 4:18Speaker 1: at Inukashi's hotel and Nezumi was like, hey, you're going
- 4:22Speaker 1: to be my enemy when stuff happens. What did he say?
- 4:25Speaker 1: He said, when the time comes, you too. And then
- 4:29Speaker 1: he stops walking. We'll become my enemy. And Shion gasped. Yeah. Yeah.
- 4:35Speaker 1: So we don't start there because that would be a
- 4:37Speaker 1: weird place to start. Where we do start is with
- 4:40Speaker 1: an exterior shot of Karin's bakery. We see like the
- 4:44Speaker 1: green front door and it has like a little closed
- 4:46Speaker 1: sign on it. We hear a voice say, have you
- 4:49Speaker 1: heard anything about your son's whereabouts since then? Karin and
- 4:52Speaker 1: I think Yeoman is probably how you pronounce it, are
- 4:55Speaker 1: sitting at a table inside the shop. Karin shakes her
- 4:58Speaker 1: head and Yeoman puts his hand on her shoulder and says, Karin,
- 5:04Speaker 1: I understand how you feel. How? But It's times like
- 5:09Speaker 1: these when you really have to hold it together. Fuck you,
- 5:13Speaker 1: Kanan says. Yeoman-san, I really am grateful. She rests her
- 5:18Speaker 1: forehead against her hands. But can you leave me alone
- 5:22Speaker 1: for a bit? Yeoman looks a little, um, I think annoyed?
- 5:29Speaker 1: But he stands up. We cut to Yeoman outside, closing
- 5:32Speaker 1: the door behind him. He looks down the street and
- 5:34Speaker 1: he sees like the tail end of a police car
- 5:37Speaker 1: on like the cross street at the intersection going past.
- 5:40Speaker 1: We see the cop inside the car. He's like holding
- 5:42Speaker 1: something that might be a phone. I don't know. But anyway,
- 5:45Speaker 1: Yeoman scowls and he kind of tisks and he walks
- 5:48Speaker 1: off in the other direction. Back inside the shop with Karin,
- 5:52Speaker 1: she is resting her head on her hand still and
- 5:56Speaker 1: she hears a squeak. She straightens up and looks at
- 5:58Speaker 1: the floor and we see that mouse, like the robot one,
- 6:02Speaker 1: I think, because it's got like the weird red eyes.
- 6:05Speaker 1: And it is holding a capsule in its mouth, like
- 6:07Speaker 1: a little pill capsule that's like white and red. It
- 6:12Speaker 1: puts it down on the floor, squeaks and kind of
- 6:15Speaker 1: nods because that's what mice do. They nod. Karen stares
- 6:19Speaker 1: at it. for a little while, and then it squeaks again,
- 6:22Speaker 1: and she finally lifts up the capsule, opens it to
- 6:26Speaker 1: reveal a long strip of paper. So I'm pretty sure
- 6:30Speaker 1: that's a banana fish reference, because it definitely is. Anyway,
- 6:36Speaker 1: the strip of paper has writing on it, which is
- 6:38Speaker 1: in Japanese, not in English, and it is not translated
- 6:42Speaker 1: in this version that I have, so I don't know
- 6:44Speaker 1: what it says. But then I do, because we hear
- 6:46Speaker 1: Nezumi say, Shiana say, He escaped to the west block. Nezumi.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Karon gasps and puts her hands over her mouth and
- 6:55Speaker 1: tears well up in her eyes. The mouse squeaks and
- 6:58Speaker 1: opens its mouth real wide. Karon gasps and is like,
- 7:02Speaker 1: wait right here, and just runs off. We get to
- 7:05Speaker 1: her leaning over the counter, like writing something, and then
- 7:07Speaker 1: we see her hand with like a little note in it,
- 7:11Speaker 1: you know, like on a little strip of paper. And
- 7:13Speaker 1: the translation that I have didn't make any sense, like
- 7:18Speaker 1: at all. Thanks, guys. It says, like, living kitchen around 13,000,
- 7:23Speaker 1: latch building, a thug. So no promises, Karen. So yeah,
- 7:28Speaker 1: that translation is definitely not correct, but whatever. Then we
- 7:32Speaker 1: go to the opening theme. Yay! Now we see West Block,
- 7:37Speaker 1: lots of little shacks, and people are, like, walking around
- 7:39Speaker 1: and stuff on the streets and shit. We see a person, like,
- 7:43Speaker 1: standing in, like, a butcher-type stall. Because there's like little
- 7:47Speaker 1: open air like stalls out everywhere. And they're like wearing
- 7:50Speaker 1: like a black hoodie. And we can't see their eyes
- 7:51Speaker 1: because it's over their face. And then we cut to
- 7:53Speaker 1: a person at like a fruit stand. And I wasn't
- 7:57Speaker 1: sure what all these fruits were. But I think it's papayas, grapes,
- 8:01Speaker 1: maybe apples. And I think mangoes. And that sounds good.
- 8:05Speaker 1: But there's also like just flies buzzing around everywhere. But
- 8:09Speaker 1: I don't know how you can stop that. But it
- 8:11Speaker 1: just made it feel like it was supposed to be dirty.
- 8:14Speaker 1: You know? Like this ain't a great place. Next, we
- 8:17Speaker 1: cut to a low shot of an alley with a
- 8:19Speaker 1: dog in it. We see someone run past and then
- 8:22Speaker 1: we hear someone say, thief! And a guy with like
- 8:25Speaker 1: a white apron stops like right in front of the
- 8:27Speaker 1: alley and he has a fucking rifle and he pointed
- 8:30Speaker 1: in the direction that the guy ran and he just
- 8:32Speaker 1: shoots like twice. What the fuck? The dog freaks out
- 8:36Speaker 1: because what? And he like runs off in the opposite direction.
- 8:40Speaker 1: So I think we're trying to paint the picture that
- 8:42Speaker 1: this like isn't a great place. Anyway, now we see
- 8:45Speaker 1: Nezumi walking through the crowd. It's like a pretty decent
- 8:49Speaker 1: amount of people out on the streets. And there's gunshots
- 8:52Speaker 1: in the background. I don't know if it's those gunshots
- 8:54Speaker 1: or other gunshots. I don't know if we're just murdering
- 8:57Speaker 1: lots of people now or what's going on. We hear
- 8:59Speaker 1: Shion say, Nezumi! Nezumi turns. Huh? He kind of chuckles.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Shion is like down the block a bit, running like
- 9:07Speaker 1: through the crowd to catch up with him. And he
- 9:10Speaker 1: says again, Nezumi! We hear Inukashi say, Latch building is
- 9:15Speaker 1: the name of a newspaper. We cut to her. I
- 9:18Speaker 1: managed to figure out where one of their former employees
- 9:20Speaker 1: is located. And he has quite an interesting connection to
- 9:24Speaker 1: number six. Shion is still running to catch up with
- 9:27Speaker 1: Nezumi and he's holding his mom's note in his hand
- 9:30Speaker 1: and he looks down at it. And we hear someone say, hey, boy.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Shion stops like in front of an alley and he
- 9:36Speaker 1: looks over only to be like really roughly pulled into
- 9:39Speaker 1: the alley by a woman. Shion's like, hold on, what
- 9:42Speaker 1: do you want? We can't see this woman's face or
- 9:45Speaker 1: like the front of her yet. We're just seeing like
- 9:47Speaker 1: side views and back views, which is just weird. This
- 9:50Speaker 1: whole episode has just weird cuts in it. Anyway, though,
- 9:54Speaker 1: from what we can tell, she's wearing a brown jacket,
- 9:56Speaker 1: but like not with her arms through it, just like
- 9:58Speaker 1: over her shoulders. And when we see the side of
- 10:00Speaker 1: her we can see her breasts bounce i mean she's
- 10:03Speaker 1: wearing a top but like they bounce and i was
- 10:05Speaker 1: just like okay and she's also wearing white thigh high
- 10:09Speaker 1: stockings she says you have quite a unique head of
- 10:14Speaker 1: hair don't you boy She kind of caresses his hair
- 10:17Speaker 1: and then her hand is like basically on his cheek.
- 10:21Speaker 1: She continues, hey, would you like to play with me?
- 10:26Speaker 1: Shion's like, uh, play? Yes, Shion. Like pretty sure this
- 10:32Speaker 1: is a prostitute. Before he can like gather his thoughts
- 10:36Speaker 1: or he can get an answer, she just like leans
- 10:39Speaker 1: in and just like kisses him. That's assault! And we
- 10:43Speaker 1: like don't get to see much of the kiss at
- 10:45Speaker 1: all because like her head is in the way because
- 10:47Speaker 1: we're like looking at it from behind her, I guess.
- 10:50Speaker 1: And after a second, he like gathers himself enough to
- 10:53Speaker 1: figure out what's going on and pushes her off of him.
- 10:56Speaker 1: He backs away and stumbles over a leg on the
- 11:00Speaker 1: ground and like just falls flat on his ass. He's like, huh? Oh, sorry.
- 11:05Speaker 1: But he just stops and yelps and backs away because
- 11:09Speaker 1: there's just some dead person on the ground and blood
- 11:11Speaker 1: is coming out of their mouth and their chest is
- 11:13Speaker 1: all cut up and so is their arm or whatever
- 11:15Speaker 1: the fuck. There's just a dead person on the ground
- 11:18Speaker 1: is what I'm saying. Shion gasps. Yes. And he stands
- 11:22Speaker 1: and continues to back away. He's not having a good
- 11:24Speaker 1: time at all. The woman says, why are you getting
- 11:28Speaker 1: all bent out of shape over a corpse? Sure. She
- 11:31Speaker 1: puts her arms on Shion's shoulders. I already called someone
- 11:34Speaker 1: to clean her up, so it's fine. Well, at least
- 11:38Speaker 1: she's proactive. Shion just kind of stares at her like really,
- 11:42Speaker 1: really freaked out because this is just going real strange.
- 11:46Speaker 1: And she's just kind of like hanging off him now.
- 11:49Speaker 1: And she says, now, more importantly. But before she can
- 11:52Speaker 1: finish her thoughts, we hear Nezumi say, sorry, but I'll
- 11:56Speaker 1: have to ask you to return him to me. They
- 11:58Speaker 1: turn and we see Nezumi is in the alley behind them.
- 12:03Speaker 1: He continues, he's mine. The woman's like, she pushes Shion away.
- 12:08Speaker 1: No wonder. We can finally see what she's wearing. It
- 12:11Speaker 1: like took a really long time. She just got like
- 12:13Speaker 1: a tank top on and like a really short skirt.
- 12:16Speaker 1: I mean, this is what I figured she would be wearing,
- 12:18Speaker 1: but it's like, why did it take this long? Unless
- 12:21Speaker 1: we were trying to like make it so we didn't
- 12:24Speaker 1: like know what she was doing. I don't know. Anyway,
- 12:26Speaker 1: she continues, but you're gonna have to pay for the
- 12:28Speaker 1: kissing he did. What? She walks over to Nezumi. Nezumi
- 12:34Speaker 1: grabs her by the chin and she's just like, what
- 12:36Speaker 1: the fuck's going on? And then he just kisses her. And,
- 12:40Speaker 1: you know, we actually see this one. We're just seeing
- 12:42Speaker 1: their mouths and it's like the most okay kiss ever.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Like there's no movement at all. So it's not clear
- 12:49Speaker 1: if there's tongue or like what's going on, but it's
- 12:51Speaker 1: like a little long. It's like four seconds about. It
- 12:55Speaker 1: is weird that I'm telling you that. Anyway, we pan
- 12:58Speaker 1: up to their eyes because we were just seeing their mouths. Remember?
- 13:01Speaker 1: And we see that she is blushing slightly as he
- 13:04Speaker 1: pulls away. And he says, I don't need any change. What, Nezumi?
- 13:11Speaker 1: He turns and he starts to walk away. Kind of
- 13:13Speaker 1: like spits, which made me like really pissed off. You're
- 13:16Speaker 1: the one who kissed her. Anyway, the prostitute just stands
- 13:20Speaker 1: there like she's stunned by how good that kiss was.
- 13:24Speaker 1: And she can't form words anymore. Anyway, Nezumi's like, let's go.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Shion runs to catch up with him. Okay. I just
- 13:36Speaker 1: need to stop there because, like, what the actual fuck
- 13:40Speaker 1: was that? Yeah. Out of all of the scenes in
- 13:44Speaker 1: this episode, this is definitely one of them. Like, what?
- 13:49Speaker 1: So I have so many questions about this scene. This
- 13:53Speaker 1: is different than the manga and the light novel, by
- 13:56Speaker 1: the way. I mean, there are a lot of similar elements,
- 13:58Speaker 1: like there's the prostitute and shit, but it goes a
- 14:00Speaker 1: little differently. But anyway, they start the same, sort of.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I mean, actually, this woman saved kind of Shion from
- 14:07Speaker 1: someone who was, you know, more or less chasing him
- 14:10Speaker 1: in the light novel and manga. She like pulled him
- 14:13Speaker 1: in the alley to like, you know, get him away
- 14:14Speaker 1: from them. So she's like, you owe me. So we
- 14:17Speaker 1: don't have that there because in the light novel and
- 14:19Speaker 1: the manga... A lot of shit had happened before this
- 14:22Speaker 1: in the city, you know, like Shion had seen that
- 14:27Speaker 1: dude about to shoot the person who stole, who was shoplifting.
- 14:31Speaker 1: And Shion stopped him because he was like, you can't
- 14:34Speaker 1: just fucking fire into a crowd. And it was this
- 14:36Speaker 1: whole big deal. And the guy almost killed him. So
- 14:38Speaker 1: this is after that. Anyway, so she's like hanging all
- 14:41Speaker 1: over him and stuff and then kisses him. And then,
- 14:43Speaker 1: you know, like, then she's like, you got to pay
- 14:45Speaker 1: for that kiss. It's like, this seems like a really
- 14:47Speaker 1: bad business model, first of all. Like, we don't even
- 14:50Speaker 1: know if Shion has money. So it's not a good
- 14:52Speaker 1: idea to just go giving away free services when you
- 14:55Speaker 1: don't know if the person can pay. Because, like, you know, like,
- 14:58Speaker 1: I don't just walk up to people and give them
- 15:00Speaker 1: home inspections. Like, that would be stupid. So I don't
- 15:04Speaker 1: really think this is a good business model. You really
- 15:07Speaker 1: want to be upfront about expectations before. You want to
- 15:10Speaker 1: discuss money and shit like that before you just go
- 15:13Speaker 1: around kissing people. So... I mean, I get it. It's like, well,
- 15:17Speaker 1: she's not a great person. She's trying to basically con
- 15:19Speaker 1: him into paying. I just like, I don't know, man.
- 15:21Speaker 1: I'm not saying it doesn't happen. I'm just saying, I
- 15:23Speaker 1: don't know, man. But anyway, besides that, and besides that
- 15:28Speaker 1: was not okay, you can't just kiss someone like that
- 15:31Speaker 1: in an alley and there's a dead person on the ground,
- 15:33Speaker 1: but whatever. The whole thing with Nezumi, I just like,
- 15:37Speaker 1: I mean, I just laughed through that, but like, what
- 15:39Speaker 1: the fuck? So... The thing where, like, she is just, like,
- 15:44Speaker 1: stunned by this kiss is totally anime original. In the
- 15:49Speaker 1: manga and the light novel, he does the whole, like,
- 15:52Speaker 1: do you take change or whatever line, and then kisses her,
- 15:55Speaker 1: and then she's like, yeah, that's not good enough for change.
- 15:58Speaker 1: So it was actually kind of funny. But we lose
- 16:02Speaker 1: that here, and that's sad. Instead, the director and writer
- 16:06Speaker 1: basically decided that Nezumi is just that fucking good at kissing.
- 16:11Speaker 1: And out of all the things that have happened in
- 16:14Speaker 1: this show so far, that is kind of the one that, like,
- 16:18Speaker 1: kills my suspension of disbelief. Like, because just really, what
- 16:22Speaker 1: the fuck? Like, pretty sure Nezumi's 16, right? He's just
- 16:26Speaker 1: a little kid, sort of. I mean, he's a teenager, but, like, what? What?
- 16:34Speaker 1: I mean, he seems like he lives a pretty solitary life,
- 16:36Speaker 1: so who is he kissing, first of all, that he's
- 16:38Speaker 1: that good of a kisser? I mean, maybe he just
- 16:40Speaker 1: practices a lot, but, like, This is a professional. You're
- 16:44Speaker 1: telling me that Nezumi kisses so good that a prostitute is, like,
- 16:50Speaker 1: stunned by it? Like, what the fuck is going on, guys? So,
- 16:56Speaker 1: I honestly don't know how to comprehend this scene. Like,
- 16:59Speaker 1: I really, really don't. But, goddammit, I talked about it
- 17:04Speaker 1: too long. So, let us move on. Anyway, so... They
- 17:10Speaker 1: are out of the alley now, and we see a
- 17:11Speaker 1: shot of the street. It's like an above shot, and
- 17:14Speaker 1: we see them walking down the street, and Shion says, Nezumi,
- 17:19Speaker 1: who is that lady back there? Nezumi's like, a prostitute.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Shion looks down and just says, prostitute. Do you just
- 17:30Speaker 1: not know what a prostitute is? Like, I'm so confused.
- 17:33Speaker 1: That's also anime original in the manga and light novels.
- 17:37Speaker 1: When they're leaving, the prostitute says to Shion, like something like,
- 17:41Speaker 1: be careful around that man, sweetie. And so when they're
- 17:44Speaker 1: walking away, Shion is like, I don't get it. Like,
- 17:47Speaker 1: why are you that man and I'm sweetie? So we
- 17:51Speaker 1: just kind of lost a little bit of a joke
- 17:53Speaker 1: and made Shion a little bit more naive in a
- 17:56Speaker 1: way that I don't really think we needed to. But hey, whatever. Anyway,
- 18:02Speaker 1: Shion is done contemplating prostitution. And he looks back up
- 18:06Speaker 1: and says, oh, the lady, there was an old lady
- 18:09Speaker 1: lying there dead. Nezumi's like, she said she called someone
- 18:12Speaker 1: to clean it up, didn't she? Leave alone. Shion's like,
- 18:16Speaker 1: who's going to clean it up? We see Nezumi's foot
- 18:19Speaker 1: stop like shorts and then his hand slamming Shion into
- 18:23Speaker 1: the wall. Shion winces in pain. What the fuck, Nezumi?
- 18:27Speaker 1: And Nezumi's like, you really pissed me off. Listen, I'll
- 18:30Speaker 1: tell you one thing. No one will save you here.
- 18:33Speaker 1: So stop asking questions about every damn thing and protect
- 18:35Speaker 1: yourself at the very least. Shion looks at him and
- 18:38Speaker 1: then at the grounds, like maybe that really hurt him. Hey,
- 18:41Speaker 1: he just got slammed into a wall. So yeah, I
- 18:44Speaker 1: don't know, man. Then we hear someone say, we found you.
- 18:49Speaker 1: We see a foot fall like close up into the scene.
- 18:53Speaker 1: And there are these two guys, one of them has
- 18:54Speaker 1: a beard and one of them doesn't have a beard.
- 18:56Speaker 1: And they look like they're real not friendly. The first
- 18:59Speaker 1: guy says, Did you seriously think a kiss was going
- 19:02Speaker 1: to pay off your debt to that woman? Oh, it's
- 19:05Speaker 1: her pimps. Nezumi takes his hand off of Shion, finally.
- 19:09Speaker 1: And they both look over at the guys and the
- 19:13Speaker 1: guys start to walk over. We get a wider shot
- 19:15Speaker 1: and we see there are like a lot of creepy
- 19:17Speaker 1: guys hanging around watching this. Like, wow, it's so great here, guys.
- 19:22Speaker 1: First guy says, huh, quite a fine jewel we have here.
- 19:26Speaker 1: I don't know which one you're talking about. The second
- 19:29Speaker 1: one's like, If you come play with us, we'll call
- 19:31Speaker 1: it even. The second guy reaches for, I think, Nezumi.
- 19:34Speaker 1: But again, camera angles are weird here. And Nezumi like
- 19:38Speaker 1: bats his hand away and then punches him down. Yeah, Nezumi,
- 19:41Speaker 1: I guess. Then he like kind of roundhouse kicks the
- 19:45Speaker 1: other guy onto the ground. And then he's like, run.
- 19:47Speaker 1: I think you guys got him. They run though. And
- 19:50Speaker 1: we hear the first guy say, bastards! Wait up! Sure.
- 19:54Speaker 1: I don't think that's how you stop them. Let me
- 19:56Speaker 1: pause here one second just to say that in the
- 20:01Speaker 1: other versions of this, there were no pimps. The people
- 20:04Speaker 1: who clean up the bodies are called cleaners, and I
- 20:08Speaker 1: guess you pay them, and it's kind of like Since
- 20:10Speaker 1: you got to pay them, the only people who are
- 20:12Speaker 1: calling are like shop owners and people who have dead
- 20:14Speaker 1: people out in front of their businesses, basically. So they
- 20:18Speaker 1: had found the dead woman in front of like somebody's shop.
- 20:21Speaker 1: So the person who ran the shop was like, hey,
- 20:22Speaker 1: do you know that woman, the dead one? And they're like, no.
- 20:25Speaker 1: And she's like, oh, fuck, I got to call the
- 20:27Speaker 1: cleaners or whatever. And the cleaners in that one clearly
- 20:30Speaker 1: propositioned Shion, actually, and say like, you know, come have
- 20:34Speaker 1: a drink with us. And Shion cannot get away and
- 20:36Speaker 1: ends up kicking them in the balls. Fucking cool. And
- 20:39Speaker 1: then running. Because Nezumi is not there at that time.
- 20:42Speaker 1: So basically we're missing all the cool Shion stuff and
- 20:44Speaker 1: just replacing it with Shion getting slammed into a wall
- 20:46Speaker 1: and that kind of stuff. But anyway, they have run
- 20:49Speaker 1: away and we cut to a place with much taller buildings.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Looks more like a city, like what I'm used to
- 20:56Speaker 1: a city looking like than the place we were in
- 20:59Speaker 1: before with like just like low one story kind of
- 21:02Speaker 1: like shacks. Nezumi and Shion are in an alley trying
- 21:06Speaker 1: to catch their breath. I guess they ran kind of far.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Shion is bent over her panting and he says, Nezumi,
- 21:14Speaker 1: is this what the world's really like? Nezumi chuckles. You
- 21:17Speaker 1: haven't seen the half of it. I mean, really, like
- 21:20Speaker 1: that wasn't much of anything. Shion straightens up. You went
- 21:23Speaker 1: against what you said, though. He smiles. That's the second
- 21:26Speaker 1: time you've saved me. Nezumi kind of gasps and looks
- 21:30Speaker 1: away like, oh, fuck, I didn't mean to do that.
- 21:32Speaker 1: And he goes, I was only protecting myself. By the way,
- 21:36Speaker 1: we're here. He looks up and so does Shion. We
- 21:39Speaker 1: see a close-up of a concrete building with broken windows
- 21:44Speaker 1: and shit. And then we cut to them inside walking
- 21:47Speaker 1: up the stairs and the stairwell. It's pretty sparse in there.
- 21:51Speaker 1: I mean, there's no adornments or anything. But it doesn't
- 21:55Speaker 1: look like it's in really rough shape either. It just
- 21:58Speaker 1: looks kind of like a shitty apartment building or a
- 22:00Speaker 1: shitty office building. But not like one that has been
- 22:03Speaker 1: through some sort of apocalypse. So that's nice. They stop
- 22:06Speaker 1: at a landing in front of a door. And we
- 22:10Speaker 1: hear a woman say, you useless fool. The door opens
- 22:15Speaker 1: and the woman obviously exits and says, you can forget
- 22:18Speaker 1: about getting married. I decline. We cut to Shion and
- 22:22Speaker 1: Nezumi who are just like, what the fuck? And we
- 22:25Speaker 1: hear the door slam. She like huffs and walks past
- 22:28Speaker 1: them to the stairs. Next, we cut to a guy
- 22:32Speaker 1: with a receding hairline, like laying on a couch, rubbing
- 22:35Speaker 1: his head like in pain. We hear the door open
- 22:38Speaker 1: and Nezumi say, would you be Rikiga-san? Rikiga, absolutely, sits
- 22:44Speaker 1: up and turns to see them at his door. He's
- 22:47Speaker 1: got brown hair and he's wearing a gray suit and
- 22:49Speaker 1: he has a beard and a mustache. Kind of older.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Maybe he's in his 40s or 50s or something. Nezumi continues,
- 22:56Speaker 1: formerly of the Latch Building Press. Rikiga's like, what's with
- 23:00Speaker 1: you guys? He makes like a little sound and then
- 23:03Speaker 1: looks really excited. Eve! Shion turns to Nezumi. Eve? Nezumi's like, huh,
- 23:10Speaker 1: so you know about me. Wikiga stands and is like,
- 23:13Speaker 1: what do you mean? I'm one of your fans. I
- 23:16Speaker 1: even saw you on stage recently. He starts to walk over.
- 23:19Speaker 1: It was breathtaking. But why would someone like you come here?
- 23:22Speaker 1: Shion's like, Nezumi? Is your real name Eve? Nezumi's like, yeah, right.
- 23:29Speaker 1: It's a name I use for work. What do you
- 23:31Speaker 1: do for work? Shion's eyes widen. Work? You mean you're
- 23:36Speaker 1: really a stage actor? Honestly, that's not where I would
- 23:39Speaker 1: have gone with that. Nezumi just kind of puts his
- 23:41Speaker 1: hand over Shion's face to stop him from talking and
- 23:44Speaker 1: says to Rikiga, do you know a woman by the
- 23:46Speaker 1: name of Karin? We get a better shot of where
- 23:49Speaker 1: they are. They were in an office, by the way.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Rikiga just kind of looks at him and says, you
- 23:53Speaker 1: two know Karin? Shion's like, she's my mother. Rikiga says, what?
- 23:59Speaker 1: Shion's like, I'm Shion, Karin's son. Rikiga walks over and
- 24:03Speaker 1: puts his hands on Shion's cheeks. Shion is surprised because
- 24:08Speaker 1: He's having a weird day with people touching him. Rikiga
- 24:11Speaker 1: leans in now and looks at him like real close,
- 24:15Speaker 1: like really freaking him out. Shion makes a bunch of
- 24:17Speaker 1: terrified noises. His eyes are really wide. And finally, Rikiga says,
- 24:23Speaker 1: you look just like her. Shion's like, huh? Rikiga continues.
- 24:28Speaker 1: It's true. Karin's son. Tears form in his eyes. Oh, Karin.
- 24:34Speaker 1: He puts his head down. We cut to, like, the
- 24:36Speaker 1: floor as, like, a ladder slides down onto it. And
- 24:40Speaker 1: then we see that Rikiga is holding a pole next
- 24:42Speaker 1: to an attic entrance, like, with the full downstairs, like
- 24:45Speaker 1: I have. Yay, full downstairs! And he says, it's up here,
- 24:49Speaker 1: come on. Oh, and what would you like to drink?
- 24:53Speaker 1: We now see a mug of coffee or cocoa or
- 24:57Speaker 1: something on the table. And Shion and Nezumi are sitting
- 25:01Speaker 1: on a couch across from Rikiga. in, like, a really
- 25:04Speaker 1: nice-looking room. Much nicer than the places we've seen recently. Like,
- 25:09Speaker 1: the walls have, like, wood wainscoting and floral wallpaper above it.
- 25:14Speaker 1: And there's, like, all sorts of, like, art on the wall.
- 25:17Speaker 1: There's also a coffee table in between them with a
- 25:19Speaker 1: bottle of wine on it. Shion says, Uh, how do
- 25:22Speaker 1: you know my mother? Likigot looks at her tiny letter
- 25:27Speaker 1: that is now in the palm of his hand. His
- 25:29Speaker 1: hands shake, and he says, Karin, Karin's writing. Tears are
- 25:34Speaker 1: still in his eyes. She remembered me. He holds the
- 25:38Speaker 1: tiny letter to his face, shaking like he's kind of
- 25:41Speaker 1: crying silently. And Nezumi's like, what, were you two good friends?
- 25:46Speaker 1: Mikiga kind of straightens up and says, I confessed to
- 25:49Speaker 1: her and she turned me down. Nezumi laughs. Well, of
- 25:52Speaker 1: course she did. Mikiga kind of makes like a really
- 25:56Speaker 1: sharp exhale. He's like, you've got a rude mouth, Eve.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Nezumi says, never mind that. Just answer Shion's question. Nikiga
- 26:04Speaker 1: kind of makes an annoyed noise and then he stands
- 26:06Speaker 1: up holding his wine glass and walks off screen. We
- 26:10Speaker 1: then see his hand slide a picture clearly of the
- 26:13Speaker 1: two of them, him and Karin, but younger, like across
- 26:16Speaker 1: the table to them. Nikiga has long hair in the
- 26:19Speaker 1: picture and he's blushing, standing next to Karin. And Karin
- 26:22Speaker 1: has short hair and she's smiling like a normal person.
- 26:25Speaker 1: And he says, that's Karin and me. Yeah, we know.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Nezumi and Shion bend over the table to look at
- 26:31Speaker 1: the picture. You guys could lift it up too if
- 26:33Speaker 1: you wanted. Mikiga continues. Kaden was still a student. I
- 26:38Speaker 1: was meeting with her because she took interest in the
- 26:39Speaker 1: column I was writing. It was about number six. Oh.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Nezumi and Shion simultaneously sit back up. Shion's like, About
- 26:48Speaker 1: number six? Mikiga sighs and looks away. Yeah. There was
- 26:53Speaker 1: something suspicious about number six back then. I knew that
- 26:56Speaker 1: something was up, so I was sniffing around trying to
- 26:58Speaker 1: find a lead. He sips some wine. Nezumi's like, Ah,
- 27:02Speaker 1: so you've forgotten about what you intended to do in
- 27:04Speaker 1: the first place and spiraled into ruin. Guess that means
- 27:08Speaker 1: men follow the paths of their cities. Rikiga says, Eve,
- 27:12Speaker 1: I really was one of your fans. Nezumi's like, past tense?
- 27:16Speaker 1: Rikiga continues, I resign as of now. He sits back down.
- 27:21Speaker 1: I never knew you were such an arrogant and spiteful child.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Nezumi's like, don't be so difficult, old man. You invited
- 27:28Speaker 1: us into such an elegant room. We get another look
- 27:31Speaker 1: around now. There is like a bunch of like kind
- 27:34Speaker 1: of low bookshelves with books on them. And there's also
- 27:37Speaker 1: decorative plates on top and like an entire cabinet of alcohol.
- 27:42Speaker 1: This guy is a drunk. We're not really getting the
- 27:45Speaker 1: full look at it in this one, but he's a drunk. Anyway,
- 27:48Speaker 1: Nezumi continues. I heard you've been recommending women to number
- 27:53Speaker 1: six officials. Oh, more prostitution? Shion turns to Nezumi like
- 27:58Speaker 1: he's confused. Yes, more prostitution, Shion. Rikiga looks up and says, hey, Nukashi, huh?
- 28:05Speaker 1: Nezumi continues, you've set your sights quite high. With number
- 28:09Speaker 1: six being in such a tight spot, of course you'd
- 28:12Speaker 1: want to make a little extra on the side. He's
- 28:14Speaker 1: looking around at the plates and pictures and this radio
- 28:18Speaker 1: that he's got and all the alcohol. And as a result,
- 28:21Speaker 1: you've achieved all these luxuries. Rikiga kind of like huffs
- 28:25Speaker 1: at him. But then, like, sneers or, like, makes this, like,
- 28:29Speaker 1: really nasty looking smile and says, Are you saying you
- 28:35Speaker 1: want in? What? Doesn't mean, like, half laughs. Unfortunately, I'm
- 28:40Speaker 1: not in the business of chasing down women. That's not
- 28:43Speaker 1: what he meant. Nikki gets like, Huh, that's not what
- 28:47Speaker 1: I mean. I'm saying you could make a fortune yourself.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Shion's eyes get really wide and he gasps. Nezumi smirks
- 28:55Speaker 1: like he's a little pissed off, but also this is
- 28:57Speaker 1: pretty funny. And he says, are you telling me that
- 29:01Speaker 1: I should take on customers? Nikiga's like, those bastards have
- 29:07Speaker 1: a limitless desire for goods. You'd be earning a whole
- 29:11Speaker 1: lot more than you can working in a theater. Nezumi,
- 29:14Speaker 1: very calmly, by the way, says, are you all right,
- 29:17Speaker 1: old man? His eyes narrow. Your head isn't getting too
- 29:21Speaker 1: messed up by that alcohol, is it? Rikiga laughs slightly.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Don't go acting all cool about it. Surely you must
- 29:29Speaker 1: have gotten this far in life by doing similar things.
- 29:31Speaker 1: There's no reason to start feigning innocence now. Jeez. And
- 29:36Speaker 1: then we hear just Shion cut in. Shut up! We
- 29:39Speaker 1: see- Riki got flinched as a teacup hits him right
- 29:42Speaker 1: in the face. Then Shion's foot steps on the table
- 29:46Speaker 1: and he fucking leaps onto Rikiga. Papers from the table
- 29:50Speaker 1: just flying everywhere. He grabs Rikiga by the collar and
- 29:54Speaker 1: we see Nezumi stand up in the background like, what
- 29:57Speaker 1: the fuck? Shion's eyes are just filled with rage and
- 30:00Speaker 1: he slams Rikiga down onto the couch and is just
- 30:03Speaker 1: holding him down, his hands still pressed on his collar
- 30:06Speaker 1: as Rikiga struggles. And I think that he's kind of
- 30:09Speaker 1: choking him a little bit like, Crushing his windpipe, I think.
- 30:13Speaker 1: It's hard to tell. Anyway, Shion has black bags under
- 30:16Speaker 1: his eyes now. And he's like, not okay. She's really
- 30:19Speaker 1: not okay. And the camera is shaking around like, this
- 30:22Speaker 1: is a big deal. And he says, how can you
- 30:24Speaker 1: say such cruel things with a straight face? You shameless bastard. Jeez.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Pikiga is wincing against Shion's grip. And he continues, apologize. Apologize,
- 30:35Speaker 1: damn it! Pikiga's like, sorry, I... He groans as like,
- 30:40Speaker 1: Shion is definitely like fucking up his throat. He does
- 30:43Speaker 1: not look okay. And he kind of like groans. Shion continues,
- 30:47Speaker 1: apologize to Nezumi. At this point, thank God, Nezumi grabs
- 30:52Speaker 1: him under his arms and pulls him off. He says,
- 30:56Speaker 1: let's leave it at that, Shion. Shion is not having
- 31:00Speaker 1: any of it and he's just struggling against Nezumi, ready
- 31:03Speaker 1: to fucking murder Rikiga. Nezumi continues, if you push him
- 31:08Speaker 1: any further, he'll die. Rikiga, by the way, is just
- 31:12Speaker 1: laying in a fetal position on the couch, like shaking.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Shion is not even slightly put off by this and
- 31:18Speaker 1: he's like still trying to go over there so we
- 31:20Speaker 1: can kill him. And eventually Nezumi says, Shion, hey, Shion.
- 31:26Speaker 1: Shion gasps and snaps out of it. You just have
- 31:28Speaker 1: to call his name enough times, I guess. Nezumi finally
- 31:31Speaker 1: lets go of him. What's wrong, Shion? What are you
- 31:34Speaker 1: so worked up about? Shion squeezes his eyes shut and
- 31:38Speaker 1: turns to Nezumi. You idiot! Nezumi is like, what? Shion continues.
- 31:45Speaker 1: He insulted you! He said terrible things! Why aren't you angry?
- 31:50Speaker 1: You're an idiot. Jesus, dude. His eyes are still closed
- 31:55Speaker 1: tightly and tears just stream down his face. He continues,
- 32:00Speaker 1: it frustrates me. Nezumi stares at Shion, like, concerned. Because
- 32:06Speaker 1: this is concerning. And he exhales and puts his hand
- 32:10Speaker 1: on Shion's shoulder. Shion, don't waste tears crying for other people.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Shion is kind of like shaking and he starts to
- 32:18Speaker 1: wipe his face with his hands. Poor little baby who
- 32:21Speaker 1: almost killed someone. Nezumi continues, crying, fighting. Save those both
- 32:27Speaker 1: for protecting yourself. Protect yourself by crying? Okay. Come on,
- 32:32Speaker 1: let's go home. He puts his arm around Shion and
- 32:35Speaker 1: they start to walk off. We hear Rikiga say, wait
- 32:39Speaker 1: a second. He coughs, but he starts to get up.
- 32:42Speaker 1: I was wrong. He's breathing pretty hard, by the way. Shion,
- 32:46Speaker 1: I'll look after you. I think Karen would want it
- 32:49Speaker 1: that way. I don't think if she knew what was
- 32:52Speaker 1: going on, she'd want it that way. They had stopped
- 32:55Speaker 1: walking for a second when he said this, but they
- 32:57Speaker 1: start to move again and That is until Nezumi's booth
- 33:00Speaker 1: lands in front of some papers on the floor that
- 33:03Speaker 1: look like they're probably upside down photos, but you never know.
- 33:06Speaker 1: They both look down at them. Nezumi's like, hmm? He
- 33:10Speaker 1: bends down and picks one up. Shion crouches down next
- 33:13Speaker 1: to him, and Nezumi says, this man. Shion looks at him.
- 33:17Speaker 1: We see a close-up of the picture. There's a guy
- 33:20Speaker 1: with black hair and glasses in it, and I think
- 33:23Speaker 1: he's wearing a lab coat. And then we cut back
- 33:25Speaker 1: to a full view of the picture. So there's six
- 33:29Speaker 1: people in lab coats, you know, smiling and hanging out.
- 33:31Speaker 1: And then on the side is Kadan and Nihiga, not
- 33:34Speaker 1: in lab coats because they're not scientists or doctors or
- 33:37Speaker 1: whatever these people are. Anyway, Nezumi flips it over and
- 33:41Speaker 1: it says something in Japanese that isn't translated. Go to black. Okay,
- 33:46Speaker 1: let's stop there because I need to talk about this
- 33:48Speaker 1: because this is the weirdest shit I've ever anything. Okay, so...
- 33:54Speaker 1: What was that? Can someone tell me what was that?
- 33:57Speaker 1: So I was taking notes on this yesterday. And so
- 34:00Speaker 1: I told my mom after I took the notes, I
- 34:02Speaker 1: was explaining this scene to her, you know, and the
- 34:05Speaker 1: whole thing with, you know, Shion jumping over the table
- 34:10Speaker 1: and basically strangling Regiga. And she was like, is that
- 34:15Speaker 1: an appropriate reaction? No, it's not an appropriate reaction. What
- 34:20Speaker 1: the fuck? Okay. So we learned things. but I don't
- 34:24Speaker 1: know what they were. So Rikika is not a good guy, obviously.
- 34:31Speaker 1: We missed the part where like, so I mean, what
- 34:34Speaker 1: he's doing now besides drinking is he's running like a
- 34:38Speaker 1: porn magazine. And then I guess being a pimp on
- 34:42Speaker 1: the side or something. But yeah, so we totally lost
- 34:46Speaker 1: his porno mag that was in the manga and the
- 34:49Speaker 1: light novels. And also we missed the part where they
- 34:53Speaker 1: saw it. And when Shion said, oh, wow, it's really
- 34:57Speaker 1: cool that you're like in the theater. And Nezumi is like,
- 34:59Speaker 1: it's barely any better than this thing to the porn magazine.
- 35:03Speaker 1: And I was like, oh, that's interesting. But I am
- 35:07Speaker 1: concerned about Shion in many, many ways. And I'm also
- 35:10Speaker 1: concerned about just this being written like this. So I
- 35:14Speaker 1: don't even know where to start. It's not appropriate to
- 35:16Speaker 1: attack someone for insinuating that your friend might have prostituted themselves. Like,
- 35:22Speaker 1: I don't understand what happened here. Like, this was such
- 35:26Speaker 1: a massive overreaction that I am just concerned for everyone now.
- 35:32Speaker 1: First of all, we don't know anything about Nesimi's past.
- 35:34Speaker 1: He has not told Shion anything about him. So this insinuation,
- 35:39Speaker 1: I think it's probably not true within the context of
- 35:43Speaker 1: the story, though. I mean, this was influenced by Banana Fish,
- 35:46Speaker 1: so who knows? But it could be, right? We did
- 35:50Speaker 1: just see Nezumi kiss a prostitute real fucking good. So
- 35:54Speaker 1: maybe he does have experience. But regardless, if he does
- 35:59Speaker 1: or not, what kind of reaction? What is jumping over
- 36:02Speaker 1: the table and attacking this guy? Like, what is that, Shion?
- 36:07Speaker 1: And like, what if that was Nezumi's history? Like, maybe
- 36:11Speaker 1: he's saying accurate things about him. And then like, how's
- 36:14Speaker 1: Nezumi going to feel about That it was like, wow,
- 36:16Speaker 1: that's the most horrible thing I've ever heard anyone say
- 36:18Speaker 1: about someone. So bad that I have to attack someone
- 36:20Speaker 1: for it, but maybe that is your past. Whatever. Not whatever. Like,
- 36:24Speaker 1: what the fuck, Shion? So, and I don't even know
- 36:27Speaker 1: if Shion knew what a prostitute was a couple minutes ago. So, yeah,
- 36:32Speaker 1: I don't, I thought I was going to have like
- 36:35Speaker 1: a clear idea of how to explain why this is
- 36:38Speaker 1: weird now, but I don't. It's just bad. It's, I
- 36:41Speaker 1: don't know if it's bad writing. In fact, I have
- 36:43Speaker 1: some thoughts about it that I can't share with you
- 36:45Speaker 1: until towards the end of the show. But as of
- 36:48Speaker 1: right now, it feels like just kind of like messy writing.
- 36:53Speaker 1: And if it's not, which we're just going to pretend
- 36:55Speaker 1: it's not for the sake of this. If it's not,
- 36:58Speaker 1: then Shion is like real fucked up. And we haven't
- 37:00Speaker 1: seen anything to this point to suggest that Shion has
- 37:04Speaker 1: like a significant anger problem. But he has a significant
- 37:09Speaker 1: anger problem. And I don't know if it's something that
- 37:11Speaker 1: happened because of the thing with the wasp, which I
- 37:15Speaker 1: kind of don't think it is, but it could be.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Or if it's just that we don't know him well enough.
- 37:20Speaker 1: to know that he just punches holes in the walls
- 37:22Speaker 1: all the time at home and he tortures small animals
- 37:24Speaker 1: or some shit. Like, this kid has a real massive
- 37:28Speaker 1: problem with the way that he acted and the way
- 37:31Speaker 1: that Nezumi pulled him off and he still wanted to
- 37:34Speaker 1: just fucking murder Rikiga over some dumb shit that Rikiga
- 37:38Speaker 1: said that was, as far as I can tell, not
- 37:42Speaker 1: even supposed to be a dig. Like, Rikiga, it seems like,
- 37:45Speaker 1: isn't a very moral character. So... I don't think the
- 37:49Speaker 1: things he was saying to Nezumi were to piss off Nezumi.
- 37:53Speaker 1: I really don't. So yes, massive, massive overreaction. And the
- 37:59Speaker 1: whole thing with Nezumi being like, don't cry for other
- 38:03Speaker 1: people and shit. Like, no. What Nezumi should have said
- 38:05Speaker 1: if he was like a regular person is like, what
- 38:08Speaker 1: the fuck is your problem? You do just not attack
- 38:10Speaker 1: people who are just talking to me. That's weird. Anyway.
- 38:14Speaker 1: That's what I wanted to say about this. This scene
- 38:17Speaker 1: is probably like the thing in the show that makes
- 38:19Speaker 1: me the most thoroughly worried about the writing, I think. Like,
- 38:25Speaker 1: excuse me? So, oh my God, I'm going to continue.
- 38:29Speaker 1: I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I just keep going off
- 38:32Speaker 1: just talking about this shit and you don't even care
- 38:35Speaker 1: and I don't even care. Well, obviously I care because
- 38:37Speaker 1: I'm doing it. But yeah, yeah. Anyway, they have left.
- 38:41Speaker 1: It's all over. They walked out like he had done
- 38:45Speaker 1: something really wrong when really it's Shion that had almost
- 38:48Speaker 1: killed Mikiko. But sure, everything's good now. Anyway, we fade
- 38:54Speaker 1: into an above shot of water with like some rocks
- 38:57Speaker 1: sticking out of it and it's raining and we pan
- 39:00Speaker 1: down or pan, you know, over until we see that
- 39:03Speaker 1: Nezumi is standing on a cliff by this water. He's
- 39:07Speaker 1: wearing like a black poncho or cloak or something. With
- 39:11Speaker 1: a hood up, he turns away and starts to walk
- 39:15Speaker 1: off and the camera pulls out and we see that
- 39:18Speaker 1: this water is just in like a big crater, like
- 39:21Speaker 1: a big hole in the ground. Next, we see soup,
- 39:24Speaker 1: I guess, or maybe stew being stirred in a pot.
- 39:28Speaker 1: It's like brown because the last one was white. but
- 39:30Speaker 1: it's brown and there's things in it. What the things are,
- 39:32Speaker 1: I don't know. I think there's some orange things, so
- 39:34Speaker 1: maybe carrots, but the rest of it, eh. That brown
- 39:38Speaker 1: mouse jumps onto Shion's shoulder and squeaks at him. Shion,
- 39:41Speaker 1: who is stirring the pot, by the way, on like
- 39:43Speaker 1: maybe a camp stove, but I can't really tell because
- 39:45Speaker 1: it looks like it's just a big brown pipe. pot
- 39:48Speaker 1: on it like coming out of the ground so maybe
- 39:50Speaker 1: it's a steam pipe that would be so cool if
- 39:53Speaker 1: this is a steam pipe and he's cooking with the
- 39:55Speaker 1: steam pipe i don't know if that would work anyway
- 39:58Speaker 1: he says you can't have any yet we hear the
- 40:01Speaker 1: door open shion is like oh nezumi then he looks
- 40:05Speaker 1: really shocked we see nezumi walk in he says nothing
- 40:09Speaker 1: at all and takes off the cloak or whatever his
- 40:11Speaker 1: face is just expressionless and the mouse jumps off of
- 40:14Speaker 1: shion and shion says where'd you go Nezumi takes off
- 40:18Speaker 1: his leather jacket as well. And Shion's like, did it
- 40:21Speaker 1: have something to do with the man in that picture?
- 40:24Speaker 1: Nezumi says, give it up. He walks out of frame
- 40:27Speaker 1: and we hear a squeak as he sits down on
- 40:30Speaker 1: the bed, I assume. Shion looks away and he's like,
- 40:34Speaker 1: I'm sorry. We cut to Nezumi who is now lying
- 40:36Speaker 1: on the bed facing away from Shion. Shion continues, but
- 40:39Speaker 1: I want to know. Nezumi's like, know what? We hear
- 40:44Speaker 1: Shion say, about you. Nezumi lifts his head. and looks
- 40:48Speaker 1: back at Shion. Shion continues, I want to know more
- 40:51Speaker 1: about you. Nezumi makes a face like he's disgusted and
- 40:54Speaker 1: he sits back up. Shion continues, if something's troubling you,
- 40:58Speaker 1: I want you to tell me. At this point, Nezumi
- 41:01Speaker 1: grabs Shion by the wrist and brings his hand to,
- 41:05Speaker 1: you know, Nezumi's chest and says, what do you feel?
- 41:08Speaker 1: Shion looks confused for a second. Your heart is beating.
- 41:13Speaker 1: Nezumi's like, exactly. I'm alive. I'm right here. That's enough.
- 41:17Speaker 1: And he like throws Shion's arm off of him, causing
- 41:20Speaker 1: Shion to like stumble back. Wow, they're great for each other.
- 41:24Speaker 1: Shion looks worried because... And Nezumi continues, Shion, you and
- 41:30Speaker 1: I are separate people. Don't go trying to understand people
- 41:33Speaker 1: who are separate from you. He sits back down on
- 41:35Speaker 1: the bed. Shion's like, why? Nezumi says, because once you
- 41:40Speaker 1: know about them, emotions surface. And you can no longer
- 41:43Speaker 1: be a separate person. Even you'd be troubled by that, right?
- 41:46Speaker 1: Shion's like, why would that bother me? Nezumi says, when
- 41:51Speaker 1: we become enemies, you won't be able to kill me. Fuck.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Shion gasps. Yeah. We hear Nezumi say, I told you,
- 41:59Speaker 1: didn't I? If once you find out the truth, you
- 42:02Speaker 1: still intend to protect number six. At that time, you'll
- 42:04Speaker 1: become my enemy. He smiles really cruelly at this, like
- 42:08Speaker 1: he's looking forward to it. Shion is quiet for a second. Nezumi.
- 42:13Speaker 1: At this, we hear scratching or movement or something outside
- 42:16Speaker 1: the door and Shion turns. Then we cut to the
- 42:19Speaker 1: door opening to just Nezumi's eye peeking out of it.
- 42:23Speaker 1: He looks forward and then down and gasps. There's a
- 42:27Speaker 1: brown dog there. Something in its mouth. It's like a
- 42:29Speaker 1: big brown dog. Like all the dogs that are in
- 42:32Speaker 1: the show are like, you know, medium to large dogs.
- 42:35Speaker 1: So this is a large dog. Kind of looks like
- 42:37Speaker 1: maybe it's a, like a, like a chocolate lab. That's
- 42:40Speaker 1: a thing. Yeah, maybe one of those. The dog kind
- 42:43Speaker 1: of whines and shakes its head. And we see that
- 42:45Speaker 1: Nezumi has a knife in his hand and he starts
- 42:47Speaker 1: to kind of put it down. And he's like, what
- 42:49Speaker 1: the hell? It's one of the dogs from Inukashi's place.
- 42:52Speaker 1: He kneels down to get the letter in its mouth.
- 42:54Speaker 1: And Shion walks to the door and says, did something
- 42:57Speaker 1: happen to Inukashi? Nezumi's like, Shion, it's work. Shion's like, what? Yeah.
- 43:04Speaker 1: We cut to a bright, mostly clear sky with just
- 43:07Speaker 1: a few clouds and the sun shining brightly. And we
- 43:10Speaker 1: hear Inukashi say, Hey, hurry up with that washing. We
- 43:13Speaker 1: hear a splash and drops of water kind of fly
- 43:16Speaker 1: into the sky and sparkle in the light. Shion is
- 43:19Speaker 1: sitting in like that courtyard in the hotel area with
- 43:22Speaker 1: a pan of water, like at his side, washing a dog. Hey,
- 43:26Speaker 1: dogs need to get cleaned. There are lots of other
- 43:28Speaker 1: dogs around and some of them are really dirty. Some
- 43:30Speaker 1: of them don't look as dirty. I don't know if
- 43:32Speaker 1: it's because he's cleaned them or what's going on. Inukashi
- 43:34Speaker 1: is standing like a ways back with her hands on
- 43:36Speaker 1: her hips. And she says, how fucking long did it
- 43:38Speaker 1: take for you to wash one dog? We see Shion
- 43:41Speaker 1: scrubbing the dog and he says, you rent these dogs
- 43:44Speaker 1: out as substitute blankets, right? Gotta make sure they're clean.
- 43:47Speaker 1: Inukashi says, who cares? The customers are all dirty strays themselves.
- 43:52Speaker 1: Shion turns to her and we see that that middle
- 43:55Speaker 1: fountain is like right behind him. And he says, Inukashi,
- 43:59Speaker 1: it's not good to talk about your customers that way. Yeah.
- 44:03Speaker 1: Inukashi's like, it's true though. Shion says, aren't they human
- 44:08Speaker 1: just like you? Inukashi makes a little surprise noise. Human
- 44:13Speaker 1: just like me? She chuckles and puts her hand on
- 44:16Speaker 1: her forehead. What a surprise. That's the first time I've
- 44:19Speaker 1: ever heard that. Those dirty ass customers are human like us?
- 44:23Speaker 1: Shion says, yeah. Inukashi's like, and you and I are
- 44:28Speaker 1: likewise human beings? Shion's like, yeah. Inukashi continues, and the
- 44:33Speaker 1: people living in number six and those living here are
- 44:36Speaker 1: the same human beings? Shion says, Yeah. Inukashi looks really
- 44:42Speaker 1: surprised and just kind of blinks at him for a second.
- 44:45Speaker 1: And then she finally just huffs and is like, Shion,
- 44:47Speaker 1: you're gonna die. If you really believe that childish shit,
- 44:51Speaker 1: you won't be able to survive here. What? Shion looks
- 44:54Speaker 1: away sadly. Honestly, I don't think that makes any sense.
- 44:58Speaker 1: And Shion says, Nezumi tells me that a lot. He
- 45:02Speaker 1: gasps then and stands. Inukashi, are you and Nezumi friends?
- 45:06Speaker 1: Inukashi's like, friends?! It's ridiculous to think that I'd be
- 45:10Speaker 1: friends with someone so cruel and emotionless. I only sell
- 45:15Speaker 1: him the information that these dogs collect. She's quiet for
- 45:18Speaker 1: a second. Oh, well, sometimes I have him sing for me. Oh.
- 45:24Speaker 1: Shion says, sing? We cut to a dog that's sleeping
- 45:28Speaker 1: on the ground, and we hear Inukashi say, when a
- 45:31Speaker 1: dog dies, well, when they're dying and in pain, his
- 45:34Speaker 1: singing calms them down. Eventually, they stop breathing. We see
- 45:38Speaker 1: Shion against the blue sky in the background, kind of
- 45:43Speaker 1: in shadow because of how bright it is behind him.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Inukashi continues. His singing carries their souls away in the
- 45:50Speaker 1: same way that the wind disperses flower petals. Shion's like,
- 45:54Speaker 1: the wind. Inukashi kneels down near a dog facing away
- 45:57Speaker 1: from Shion, continues. It was the same with my mother.
- 46:01Speaker 1: She starts to pet the dog. Shion's like, your mom died?
- 46:05Speaker 1: Inukashi says. She was a dog, but yeah. Shion gasps.
- 46:10Speaker 1: Inukashi continues. I was raised by dogs. I was thrown
- 46:14Speaker 1: in here when I was a baby. She smiles. Mother
- 46:17Speaker 1: kept me warm, fed me her milk. We hear Nezumi
- 46:20Speaker 1: in the distance say, she was a filthy mixed breed though,
- 46:23Speaker 1: wasn't she? Fuck, dude. Inukashi gasps and looks to the side.
- 46:28Speaker 1: Nezumi was sitting on this like giant pile of rubble
- 46:31Speaker 1: and he jumps down. Shion's like, Nezumi, Nezumi starts to
- 46:35Speaker 1: walk over, hands in the pockets of his jacket. He
- 46:38Speaker 1: looks real fucking smug, but also kind of cool, I
- 46:41Speaker 1: gotta admit. Inukashi's like, what did you just say about
- 46:45Speaker 1: my mother? She stands. Just try saying that again. Nezumi's like,
- 46:49Speaker 1: don't get mad. More importantly, what happens? Here you are,
- 46:54Speaker 1: telling your life story to an airhead. Not very like you,
- 46:58Speaker 1: is it? Inukashi says, how about you? What did you
- 47:01Speaker 1: come here for? Don't tell me you were worried about
- 47:04Speaker 1: this airheaded boy and you came to pick him up. Nezumi,
- 47:06Speaker 1: who is still walking over, by the way, says, Don't
- 47:09Speaker 1: make me laugh. I just came to see if my
- 47:11Speaker 1: man for hire was doing his job correctly. Sure, dude.
- 47:14Speaker 1: He finally makes it pretty close to them and stops walking,
- 47:17Speaker 1: and Inukashi's like, Hmm, sure you did. Nezumi just kind
- 47:21Speaker 1: of stares her down for a moment. And Inukashi finally
- 47:26Speaker 1: makes like a noise. But she also grits her teeth
- 47:29Speaker 1: and kind of starts to sweat. The dogs at this
- 47:32Speaker 1: perk up and start to growl. We hear Shion say, Hamlet,
- 47:35Speaker 1: you came too! Maybe he is an airhead. Nezumi and
- 47:39Speaker 1: Inukashi stop immediately and look over. The white mouse is
- 47:43Speaker 1: sitting in Shion's hand. And Nezumi says, Hamlet? Shion's like,
- 47:48Speaker 1: that's his name because he likes being read passages from Hamlet.
- 47:51Speaker 1: Nezumi's like, who said you could name him? Shion says,
- 47:55Speaker 1: but you won't give them names. The brown mouse jumps
- 47:59Speaker 1: onto Shion's shoulder and squeaks. And Shion says, oh, cravate.
- 48:03Speaker 1: The black mouse pops up on his other shoulder and
- 48:06Speaker 1: he's like, and moonlit night. Nezumi looks like this is
- 48:10Speaker 1: the dumbest thing he has ever witnessed in his life.
- 48:12Speaker 1: And the brown mouse squeaks. And Shion continues, cravate is
- 48:15Speaker 1: the name of a dessert. The color matches his hair perfectly.
- 48:19Speaker 1: The black mouse squeaks now too. And Shion says, and
- 48:22Speaker 1: moonlit night. You can tell just by looking at him.
- 48:24Speaker 1: He's pitch black. Nezumi puts his hand on his forehead
- 48:28Speaker 1: and says, For some reason, it makes my head hurt
- 48:31Speaker 1: just talking to you two. He starts to walk away.
- 48:34Speaker 1: Shion's like, that's because you're always so frustrated. Nezumi stops.
- 48:39Speaker 1: And who do you think it is that pisses me off?
- 48:41Speaker 1: In fact, you! He stops and gasps. Kind of looks
- 48:45Speaker 1: over at Inukashi like he forgot himself and then just
- 48:49Speaker 1: starts to walk away. Oh, Nezumi! Inukashi's eyes narrow. Shion,
- 48:55Speaker 1: are you guys always like this? Shion's like, huh? Why?
- 49:00Speaker 1: We cut to Nezumi as he walks away and we
- 49:02Speaker 1: hear Inukashi say, because this isn't like him. He's not
- 49:05Speaker 1: someone who puts his emotions up front like that. Hmm.
- 49:09Speaker 1: We cut to Inukashi's mouth as she smiles deviously. Now
- 49:13Speaker 1: we have a night wide shot of like the slums,
- 49:16Speaker 1: industrial area and wall behind it. We pan over and
- 49:19Speaker 1: see that Nezumi is sitting on a rock, I guess,
- 49:22Speaker 1: that's really high up and he's looking at the, you know, expanse.
- 49:28Speaker 1: And then we like see a better view and it
- 49:29Speaker 1: looks like it's maybe a foundation or some rubble or something,
- 49:32Speaker 1: not like a rock. He turns suddenly and is like,
- 49:35Speaker 1: who's there? We hear Inukashi chuckle. And then she emerges
- 49:39Speaker 1: from behind some rubble, wearing a cloak with a hood up.
- 49:43Speaker 1: She says, a little too slow in noticing me, weren't you?
- 49:47Speaker 1: She starts to walk up the hill towards him. It's
- 49:49Speaker 1: not like you at all. She pulls down her hood.
- 49:52Speaker 1: What were you spacing out about? Nezumi is like, what
- 49:56Speaker 1: do you want? Inukashi stops walking, still a pretty decent
- 50:00Speaker 1: distance away from him, and says, don't play dumb. You
- 50:04Speaker 1: know I won't let someone who insults my mother off
- 50:06Speaker 1: the hook so easily. Nezumi's like, you want revenge? He stands.
- 50:11Speaker 1: On me? He jumps down from the rubble and laughs slightly.
- 50:15Speaker 1: Don't make me laugh. You just did! Inukashi says, we'll
- 50:20Speaker 1: see about that, and smiles. Oh, and about Shion, he's
- 50:24Speaker 1: certainly different. How should I put it? He is a
- 50:28Speaker 1: way of derailing people. He even made me talk about
- 50:31Speaker 1: my mother, and then you tried to piss me off
- 50:33Speaker 1: by insulting her. In other words, you got jealous. Ooh!
- 50:39Speaker 1: Nezumi grits his teeth and just runs at her. Bullshit!
- 50:43Speaker 1: He tries to hit her, I think, but she really
- 50:46Speaker 1: gracefully evades and says, You lost this one, Nezumi. Our
- 50:49Speaker 1: camera kind of pulls up a little and we can
- 50:51Speaker 1: see that off, just slightly in the distance, there are
- 50:54Speaker 1: dogs growling. Nezumi gasps. Inukashi continues, You've lost your edge.
- 51:01Speaker 1: The one who acquires something to protect loses. She chuckles.
- 51:05Speaker 1: Wasn't that your style? Nezumi just stares at her. Inukashi
- 51:09Speaker 1: leans down and pets one of the dogs. These are watchdogs.
- 51:13Speaker 1: They can't be dealt with normally. Get him! That particular
- 51:17Speaker 1: dog runs off towards Nezumi, baring its teeth. It jumps
- 51:21Speaker 1: at Nezumi, but he evades and, like, kicks the dog
- 51:24Speaker 1: and it, like, whimpers. That's very sad. Then another dog
- 51:28Speaker 1: comes at him, and while the dog is running for him,
- 51:30Speaker 1: he takes off his, like, super fiber, like, cloak thing
- 51:33Speaker 1: and wraps it around his arm. The dog latches onto
- 51:35Speaker 1: that particular arm in that particular place, luckily, so it
- 51:39Speaker 1: doesn't hurt him, and he flings the dog aside, and
- 51:41Speaker 1: the dog hits the ground crying. Ugh. Nezumi, at this point,
- 51:45Speaker 1: starts to run. There's a lot of dogs and only
- 51:47Speaker 1: one Nezumi. Inukashi whistles and four dogs are like running
- 51:51Speaker 1: at him now, two from behind him and two from
- 51:53Speaker 1: in front of him. And Nezumi's like, move it. And
- 51:56Speaker 1: he throws that cloak over the two dogs in the front,
- 51:59Speaker 1: covering them completely and I guess confusing them or something.
- 52:02Speaker 1: And he like jumps over them and keeps going. So
- 52:04Speaker 1: there's just two dogs running after him now. At this point,
- 52:07Speaker 1: he lunges at Inukashi, grabs her by the collar and
- 52:10Speaker 1: pushes her to the ground. And he's on top of her.
- 52:13Speaker 1: He takes out his knife and puts it to her throat.
- 52:16Speaker 1: The dogs immediately stop and begin to growl again. Nezumi's like,
- 52:21Speaker 1: call off your dogs. He raises the knife slightly. Otherwise.
- 52:25Speaker 1: Inukashi chuckles. Otherwise? Nezumi's eyes narrow. And at that, we
- 52:31Speaker 1: hear Shion somewhere in the distance. Nezumi! Nezumi gasps. Goddammit, Shion.
- 52:39Speaker 1: Shion is off, like I said, in the distance, running
- 52:41Speaker 1: towards him, holding a lantern. And Inukashi's like, oh, it
- 52:45Speaker 1: looks like this time the airhead came to pick you up.
- 52:47Speaker 1: Nezumi is still scowling, but also his facial expression is
- 52:51Speaker 1: kind of like wavering a bit, like he doesn't really
- 52:54Speaker 1: know what he's supposed to do now. Inukashi continues, what'll
- 52:58Speaker 1: you do? Cut my throat and show him my corpse?
- 53:01Speaker 1: Nezumi looks to the side for a second. Maybe... at Shion.
- 53:05Speaker 1: I'm not really sure, but this is enough for Inukashi
- 53:08Speaker 1: to grab his wrist, you know, the one that's holding
- 53:10Speaker 1: the knife. She then pulls him off her and kicks
- 53:12Speaker 1: him away. She gets up, backs away, and whistles. The
- 53:15Speaker 1: dogs start to walk over. She says, your endgame is weak.
- 53:19Speaker 1: Nezumi is on his knees, still starting to get up,
- 53:22Speaker 1: and Inukashi continues, you're already no longer who you used
- 53:26Speaker 1: to be. We see that Shion is still running over.
- 53:30Speaker 1: Inukashi continues, you've taken on Quite the troublesome luggage, haven't you? Well,
- 53:36Speaker 1: see ya. She runs off and the dogs follow her.
- 53:39Speaker 1: Nezumi stands and watches her go for a second until
- 53:43Speaker 1: Shion finally reaches him and says, Nezumi, you were all
- 53:46Speaker 1: the way out here? Nezumi puts the knife back into
- 53:49Speaker 1: his pocket and starts to walk back. Why'd you come here?
- 53:53Speaker 1: Shion's like, what? You were late, so... He goes to
- 53:56Speaker 1: catch up with him. We fade out and then into
- 53:59Speaker 1: a shot of the ruins with a full moon over them.
- 54:03Speaker 1: And we see that they're walking back up a hill
- 54:05Speaker 1: and suddenly the moondrop cries. They stop and turn back.
- 54:09Speaker 1: The wind picks up, dirt blowing in the air. Jian says, Nezumi,
- 54:15Speaker 1: my mom's in number six. He's looking off the wall
- 54:18Speaker 1: in the distance. You can laugh at me or scold me,
- 54:21Speaker 1: but I can't forget about her. But he turns to Nezumi.
- 54:26Speaker 1: I want to make a living here. Nezumi's quiet for
- 54:30Speaker 1: a second. Your reasons? Um, you can't go anywhere else?
- 54:34Speaker 1: Shion says. I'm drawn to you. Aw, maybe? The moon
- 54:39Speaker 1: drop cries again. Nezumi turns and continues walking back. Shion.
- 54:44Speaker 1: There's something that's been bothering me for a while. Shion's like, yeah?
- 54:48Speaker 1: Nezumi smirks back at him. Your language skills are lower
- 54:51Speaker 1: than those of a chimp. Shion looks kind of confused
- 54:54Speaker 1: and then he starts to run to catch up. What
- 54:56Speaker 1: do you mean? Nezumi doesn't say anything. He just looks
- 55:00Speaker 1: over to the side. And the ending theme starts up
- 55:02Speaker 1: in the background. We fade out. Next, we see legs
- 55:07Speaker 1: and hear a door chime. And Riri runs to the legs,
- 55:11Speaker 1: holding a paper bag. You know, little kid Riri. She
- 55:15Speaker 1: turns back and is like, I'm so glad I can
- 55:17Speaker 1: eat auntie's muffins again. Cotton chuckles and kneels down to her.
- 55:22Speaker 1: They're outside the bakery and says, I'm sorry you were worried.
- 55:26Speaker 1: I'm all better now, okay? Yeoman, who was the legs, smiles.
- 55:30Speaker 1: Karin smiles back at him. We cut now to the
- 55:33Speaker 1: bakery interior and we hear the door close. Karin walks
- 55:36Speaker 1: in and hears a mouse squeak. She looks over. The
- 55:39Speaker 1: black robot mouses back on the floor with that capsule
- 55:42Speaker 1: again in his mouth. He places it on the floor
- 55:45Speaker 1: and squeaks. We cut to Karin's hands as she unrolls
- 55:48Speaker 1: the message. And we hear Shian say, Mom, I'm sorry.
- 55:52Speaker 1: I'm alive and well. Her hands start to shake and
- 55:56Speaker 1: we hear her kind of start to cry as tears
- 55:58Speaker 1: fall onto the wood floor. We cut, you know, back
- 56:01Speaker 1: to her. Tears are streaming down her cheeks. And she
- 56:04Speaker 1: closes her eyes and holds the paper to her heart,
- 56:07Speaker 1: says Shion. We transition now to a high, wide shot
- 56:11Speaker 1: of Lost Town panning up to the blue sky. And
- 56:15Speaker 1: we hear Karan say, Thank you, Nezumi-san. And fade to white.
- 56:20Speaker 1: And then we go to the ending. And that's it. Yay. Okay.
- 56:26Speaker 1: Closing thoughts. I hope that you don't hate me for
- 56:29Speaker 1: not liking all of this. So, my God, my God,
- 56:34Speaker 1: what is going on with these characters' anger issues? So,
- 56:37Speaker 1: I'm trying to think about what to say. The whole thing,
- 56:40Speaker 1: the animosity between Inukashi and Nezumi is a little strange. Like,
- 56:46Speaker 1: because Nezumi is obviously trying to piss her off, but
- 56:49Speaker 1: Inukashi really has the advantage with all these dogs and
- 56:52Speaker 1: She could easily just get Nezumi maimed. In fact, when
- 56:56Speaker 1: Nezumi got distracted and she was able to get him
- 56:59Speaker 1: off of her, she should have just had all her
- 57:01Speaker 1: dogs run at him at the same time and just
- 57:04Speaker 1: destroy him. In fact, that's what she should have done
- 57:06Speaker 1: in the first place. There's no reason that it should
- 57:08Speaker 1: have been one-on-one. There's no need for a fair fight
- 57:11Speaker 1: in this. Just have your dogs maul him. I don't
- 57:15Speaker 1: know if she wanted to kill him or just have
- 57:17Speaker 1: him mauled, but either way, she should have been able
- 57:20Speaker 1: to do it. So... Maybe she's nicer than we think
- 57:23Speaker 1: she is. Or maybe she's a coward and she doesn't really...
- 57:26Speaker 1: Maybe she just wants to put up a front so
- 57:28Speaker 1: Nezumi will stop saying mean things about her mom. But
- 57:31Speaker 1: I don't know. But Nezumi is kind of an asshole.
- 57:34Speaker 1: And I've said that in previous episodes. But, like, there
- 57:37Speaker 1: was no reason for him to insult her mom. It's
- 57:41Speaker 1: just stupid. Like, what the fuck is your deal? And
- 57:44Speaker 1: I thought it was interesting. It's like, well, his guard
- 57:46Speaker 1: is a little bit down. And he's experiencing emotions and shit. So...
- 57:50Speaker 1: Shion is doing something to him. Kind of reminds me
- 57:54Speaker 1: of Banana Fish. But so does like a lot of
- 57:57Speaker 1: this stuff in this episode. Yeah. But also like if
- 58:02Speaker 1: Inukashi is right and he's just starting to leave this
- 58:05Speaker 1: cold persona behind because of Shion and have emotions, it
- 58:10Speaker 1: kind of sucks that the only emotions we've seen him
- 58:13Speaker 1: have pretty much are like anger. Like that's pretty much it.
- 58:18Speaker 1: Like he's just constantly annoyed at Shion. And not annoyed
- 58:22Speaker 1: in a way that I think is cute or playful.
- 58:24Speaker 1: Annoyed in a way that worries me. Continuously slamming Shion
- 58:28Speaker 1: into walls and yelling at him. And like, he just
- 58:31Speaker 1: does not come off as a nice guy. Even if
- 58:33Speaker 1: he's got emotions, they seem like mean emotions. So, yeah.
- 58:41Speaker 1: Just in general, I'm a little bit concerned about them
- 58:43Speaker 1: as a couple. If that's what we're heading towards, at least.
- 58:46Speaker 1: If there's some sort of mutual attraction between them. It's
- 58:49Speaker 1: not a good idea for them to be together, I
- 58:52Speaker 1: don't think. They're both kind of emotionally volatile. And I mean,
- 58:56Speaker 1: I did not like when he called Shion an airhead.
- 58:58Speaker 1: That's really shitty. But Shion was kind of an airhead
- 59:01Speaker 1: in this episode. And between that and his just passion
- 59:05Speaker 1: for beating people up all of a sudden, maybe trying
- 59:08Speaker 1: to kill Rikiga. Yeah. Nezumi's kind of penchant for talking
- 59:13Speaker 1: down to Shion and hitting him into walls and shit, like,
- 59:16Speaker 1: this isn't good, guys. Like, you need to not be together.
- 59:20Speaker 1: I'm not even sure you guys should be with anyone
- 59:22Speaker 1: because you're kind of fucked up. Like, work on yourselves, please.
- 59:26Speaker 1: And then also, you know, Shion being like, I'm drawn
- 59:29Speaker 1: to you, which is why I'm staying. It's like, dude,
- 59:31Speaker 1: you don't have anywhere else that you can go. Like,
- 59:34Speaker 1: it sounds like, as far as we know, the world
- 59:36Speaker 1: has pretty much ended outside of these six cities, right?
- 59:40Speaker 1: And you can't go to number six because you'll be killed,
- 59:43Speaker 1: and it looks like you need, like, a passport to
- 59:45Speaker 1: go to the other cities, so you can't go there.
- 59:47Speaker 1: So where else can you go but this kind of, like,
- 59:50Speaker 1: shithole outside of number six? There's nowhere, Shion. You don't
- 59:54Speaker 1: have a choice. Either you make your life there or
- 59:56Speaker 1: you don't live. So... That was weird. But, you know,
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: he's drawn to Nezumi. Probably because Nezumi isn't like anyone
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: else he's been around before. He's dangerous and cool. But
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: not really. But he is dangerous. So maybe this is
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: exciting for Shion. In fact, it probably is. And I'm
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: not saying Nezumi is all bad. He has saved Shion
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: a couple of times. But he's definitely not good consistently. So, yeah.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: I don't know what else to tell you guys. This
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: is a mess. Oh, one other thing. I'm sorry. I
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: feel like this is going to be so long and
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: you're going to just cry because you're like, why are
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: you continuing to tell me things? You can't stop. Like
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: you could turn it off if you want. But if
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: you don't, one more thing. This whole thing about Shion
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: being too kind and shit to be in the West Block.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: It's really interesting to me because that's just, like, not
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: how shit works. So Nezumi is like, you don't want
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: to have any attachments. People will drag you down. You
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: only want to cry for yourself, which is a weird
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: thing to say. That kind of stuff. And then Inukashu
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: being like, you know, if you believe everyone's equal, you're
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: going to die and shit like that. Like, it's okay
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: to have, like, one character who's just a total loner.
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: But if the West Block really works like that, where, like,
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: everybody is totally in it for themselves, like... And that's basically...
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: What we've seen so far and what I see in
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: the manga and the light novel as well, that's like
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: not a society that works at all. Like people in
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: pretty much any type of society, in any type of
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: like class rely on other people for the most part.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: You don't get by by not forming attachments or by
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: thinking that you're better than other people or like you
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: won't survive. So if this isn't just these characters' viewpoints,
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: but actually this society, I don't even know how it's
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: existing the way that it is. Because relationships are crucial everywhere. So, yeah.
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: I think I'm going to just stop talking. I think
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: I got all of the things that I was angry
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: about in this episode out now. So I can finally,
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: after years, stop talking about it. Because literally I talk
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: about this episode every so often to someone. And it's
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: especially been bad since Banana Fish. Because I just... I
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: feel like it's like a really, really insensitive episode. So
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: maybe this has done it. Maybe I don't have to
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: talk about it ever again. Now, I'm pretty sure that's
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: not true. But thank you for listening anyway. And I'm
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: sorry that I did this to you. And I promise, maybe,
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: sort of, that this won't happen again. Maybe. I don't
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: really know. But I hope that you're at least... okay
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: with listening to me and that you don't hate this
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: show so much that you're angry at me or you
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: don't hate me so much that you're angry at this show,
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: which would be weird. But I'd understand if you are.
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: So I am going to go. Thank God, because I'm
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: so hungry. And I'm going to go eat something. And
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: I hope that you have a really good whatever. Later, weebs.
