- 0:07Good morning and welcome back into another edition of the Just
- 0:10in Time podcast. You are Just in.
- 0:13Time for just in time, Yeah. All right, will so opus what we
- 0:18know. One thing about you brother,
- 0:20like you always have the great nickname.
- 0:22You are consistent with the whole piss Arkansas, but we're
- 0:25going to get to Arkansas after. A while.
- 0:27The thing done that like you, you knock them dead all the
- 0:31time, you know, yeah. So like obviously you know, it's
- 0:35yeah, obviously it's very throwback rivalry.
- 0:37You know, one thing about you know, LSU a lot when a lot of
- 0:40fans of other programs ask who's LS US biggest rivalry, we have a
- 0:45unique answer because it's all depends on the generation of
- 0:48fan. So like, so it's like we don't
- 0:51have like that ironclad, you know, Iron Bowl rivalry.
- 0:54We don't have the Ohio State Michigan robbery.
- 0:56We don't necessarily UNC Notre Dame.
- 0:58We don't necessarily have those things, Georgia Tech, Georgia,
- 1:02but just it just depends on the generation of fan.
- 1:05And like just so because back in the day, and I bring it up
- 1:08because you know, back in in the day out of Greyhawk, like a lot
- 1:12of the older LSU fans would pick Ole Miss as their better rival.
- 1:16I don't necessarily I view them as a rival for sure, but like I
- 1:19don't feel that's like the biggest rubber we have in our
- 1:22lifetime. But you know, it's just.
- 1:24But that's a fascinating. Thing to me, to me, it's all
- 1:27comes down to like, I feel like Alabama is our rival.
- 1:33We're not as it's not as big of a rivalry as it should be based
- 1:38on some of our coaching in the past, because since 2011 we've
- 1:46only beaten up. Twice.
- 1:48Twice. You know, it's kind of hard.
- 1:52It's the same thing with me with the Ole Miss.
- 1:54Ole Miss definitely views us as more of a rival than they'll
- 1:58ever be to us at this point in the game because it's not that
- 2:03constant back and forth. We win more than we lose to
- 2:06them. Right.
- 2:08Yeah. And just like it's like same
- 2:09thing with Bamba. Like what makes the Bama thing
- 2:12so unique is just the coaching history.
- 2:15And it's like outside of that, just like they have a
- 2:17significant edge over us. So I understand like it's it's
- 2:20it would never be Auburn, It'd never be Tennessee for Alabama.
- 2:24And just so like we're just not on the same store tear because
- 2:27they've been playing for they have so much deep interest
- 2:30history in those matchups. But like the the code, the Nick
- 2:33Saban element makes it fascinating.
- 2:36And then like as we were growing up, that's why even that's what
- 2:39like a lot of the more epic games even in the losses were
- 2:42really like just really tight, tight battled but.
- 2:47Like I remember our freshman year at LSU for Alabama, we had
- 2:51them on the ropes. And Speaking of old piss, we had
- 2:57just beaten Little Brother in Storm the field a couple of
- 3:01weeks before that, you know, and we were beating Alabama in the
- 3:06fourth quarter before some stuff happened and they put on a
- 3:11thing. Do not storm the field and in
- 3:13Genesis and Alabama came back mainly because we didn't have a
- 3:16coach with a brain in between his ears.
- 3:19But you know, it is what it is. But you know, Speaking of Ole
- 3:24Miss and that Nick save in history, they feel that our
- 3:28coach cheated them and left and now they're stuck.
- 3:31You know, if they had really had a good coach that they were
- 3:34feeling really good about, they wouldn't be complaining as much
- 3:38as they are. I'm not saying Pete Golden's a
- 3:40good, I mean a bad coach. Not saying he's a good coach
- 3:44there's not a big enough sample size for.
- 3:46That's that's what I come down to.
- 3:49You know, but if you had that guy, you wouldn't be complaining
- 3:53right now as much as you are. Yeah, I think it just comes down
- 3:58to the fact that like I said, I'm glad you brought up Pete
- 4:01Golden because it just comes down to we haven't seen enough
- 4:05like because I remember like when the when the transaction
- 4:07first happened at least seen they were bought all in and it
- 4:10was still fresh. But like, you know, just like to
- 4:13your point, I mean, even you can be confident or not confident.
- 4:18I just haven't seen the sample size.
- 4:20So I'm just glad that he has this opportunity to prove
- 4:23himself. You know, it's a tremendous
- 4:25challenge coming after like, like the most successful coach
- 4:29since the 50s. So it's and I.
- 4:31Think that what they're starting to realize over there is sure he
- 4:35had a successful run in a three or four-game sample size that
- 4:39they had of him. Yeah, in the playoffs.
- 4:42But that wasn't his staff. That was Wayne Kipton's staff.
- 4:47That was by Wayne. The late legendary coach will
- 4:49miss. I'll bring it up.
- 4:50And yeah, that's the one to bring his name up.
- 4:52Yeah. Yeah, we had you had Lane
- 4:55Kipton's whole coaching staff, his whole offensive staff, which
- 4:5890% of them are in Baton Rouge this year.
- 5:01Yep. You had this whole defensive
- 5:05staff, which I'll give him, OK, I'll give him this.
- 5:08He was the defensive coordinator before he was named head coach.
- 5:11So the defense was his. But the whole offensive scheme,
- 5:15the identity of that team had Lane Kiffin written all over it.
- 5:20And if they would have won the national championship, the
- 5:22credit in the history books would have gone to Lane Kiffin,
- 5:25not Pete Golden. You know, But I like here on it
- 5:29says we got notes. I got my notes from Google.
- 5:32Gemini says coaching staff changes and it lists Pete
- 5:36Golding takes over the Lane Kiffin factor is the very next
- 5:41one. You know, and I will say this,
- 5:43OK, you look forward to the LSU game and Ole Miss is going to
- 5:46think Ole Miss is putting away much too much more drama on it
- 5:50than it needs to be with the head coach who can't handle the
- 5:54drama of having tampering Elegate allegations on him.
- 5:59He's a rat. He wants to, as soon as they
- 6:01pull him up and he gets in trouble for doing the thing and
- 6:04they caught him red handed with evidence and everything, he
- 6:08wants to rat out everybody else, you know?
- 6:10Yeah, I will say this, He's lucky he didn't grow up in that
- 6:14early 1900s phase when they were with the mafia running around
- 6:18and he could be out there ratting on people.
- 6:21It reminds me of like Chicago PDI love Chicago PD like they
- 6:25had like one of the like the higher ups that won the the
- 6:29games. Like he had.
- 6:31He has set up to where like one of the CIS of like the the main
- 6:35cast was killed like a young teenage boy got set up there for
- 6:38him to be killed. And like like the the cop, one
- 6:41of the detectives to start detecting the show.
- 6:43She got her revenge on them. And like he had like she had put
- 6:46out some information and like he had got him there.
- 6:49He had basically had got him killed because like whenever
- 6:53they found out about it, like a guy who was taped up, but he had
- 6:57like a a rat in his mouth, like tied up.
- 7:00That's a good disgrace. Look, chances are you're going
- 7:06to be looking for another job at some point in your Ole Miss
- 7:08career because they're going to be judging you off your
- 7:10predecessor. You can't be ratting on every
- 7:12college football program in the country and expect to have a
- 7:16college football job or even an NFL job at that point after you
- 7:20rat on everybody. That's the thing like just and
- 7:24and my thing is like the the the thing about him, just for his
- 7:28sake, I hope he wins for his sake.
- 7:30I'm just not, not for not at L CS expense, to be clear, but for
- 7:35his sake, because that could mask all that.
- 7:37That's your only option. So you don't you backing
- 7:41yourself into a corner with the new job.
- 7:44You run in your mouth constantly and you know you do something
- 7:49wrong instead of saying instead of denying it like a normal
- 7:54person does in that situation, you are sitting there.
- 8:00If they take us down, I'm ratting on like 15 other
- 8:03colleges but. My thing is this, but like, you
- 8:07shouldn't have to be all the hush.
- 8:08It's a business. I mean, you don't have to be
- 8:10hush. I'll just be in the open anyway.
- 8:12I don't have like you shouldn't. It's a business.
- 8:14It's always been a business. People don't want to acknowledge
- 8:16college sports. It's all about the patterns.
- 8:18It's a business first. I'm not saying Patrick don't
- 8:21have value, but it's a business period.
- 8:24Yeah, but you know, going to his coordinators, OK.
- 8:27Yeah, let's do. It we have Charlie Weiser Junior
- 8:30in Baton Rouge, Yeah. That's true.
- 8:33Google Gemini says key coordinators John David Baker
- 8:38returns with his third season as the offensive coordinator
- 8:41alongside Co offensive coordinator Cody Woodall.
- 8:45I don't know Ole Miss football because they've always been
- 8:47irrelevant to me other than the week we play him.
- 8:50Was he the Co offensive coordinator with Charlie Weis
- 8:55Junior? That's that's why I'm assuming.
- 8:59That's why I'm assuming. Let's see.
- 9:03I don't want that 2020. No, he hasn't.
- 9:06He's not returning. He's from East Carolina.
- 9:11And then you have the senior associate head coach and running
- 9:14backs Frank Wilson. Yeah, that's right.
- 9:17You know, from Alice. Another element to the, to the,
- 9:20to the storyline for sure. And look, I'm not.
- 9:24I love Frank Wilson, what he did on the recruiting side the ball.
- 9:27And I don't know if this was just Brian Kelly or if it was
- 9:32just Joe Sloan. I don't think he did a good that
- 9:35good of a job as a run game running backs coach at LSU.
- 9:40Hell of a recruiter. But our run game was weak and at
- 9:44some point, even when we had that stacked off into the line,
- 9:47we were only averaging 3 or 4 yards rushing attempt.
- 9:52We, we've said you and I have talked about this several times
- 9:55before. They just, we did.
- 9:58They just haven't been the same on the ground for several years.
- 10:02Like not back in the last not I know, like Les Miles like
- 10:06predicated his offense around off the the old line and the run
- 10:09game. But and we would have our
- 10:11frustration with that many times, but they at least were
- 10:14steady on the ground. It's like even like I'm a
- 10:17passing guy, but just like you got to have some type of bow,
- 10:20some type of threat in the ground.
- 10:22That's like. One set up to pass.
- 10:24That's it. That's traditionally how the
- 10:26sport works. And when you have Jaden Daniels,
- 10:29he's going to mask even during that great season.
- 10:31I'm like, you're going to lose a lot.
- 10:33I mean, the running game was a struggle when he was there, so
- 10:36it's like you're going to lose a whole lot, so.
- 10:39So I mean not not throwing any shade on.
- 10:43No, of course not. Yeah, because he was a.
- 10:44Great recruiter and he did an unbelievable job at LSU, but I
- 10:48don't think we were strong in the run game against him, so I
- 10:51don't know how big of a loss that is for us.
- 10:53Yeah, just like the recruiter has to be made-up somewhere.
- 10:56But like just you need somebody just to really get back to not
- 11:02like in not to like the less miles level necessarily, but
- 11:05just you got to at least be a threat.
- 11:08You got to at least be a respectable.
- 11:10It has the Renegade has to at least be a respectable
- 11:12component. That's what it comes down to.
- 11:15Like, OK, yeah, I pulled up their coaching staff from last
- 11:18year. I don't know why it says he's
- 11:22returning for his third year. Both of those guys were
- 11:26returning for their third year in the notes because neither one
- 11:32of them were there last year. John David Baker was at East
- 11:36Carolina, and I don't know where Cody's from, you know, and
- 11:40another thing that's going to take presidents, which nobody
- 11:43here cares. We're happy to see him go.
- 11:45But if I'm not mistaken, Brian Kelly's son is on the Ole Miss
- 11:50coaching staff now, and I think it's the one that nobody knew he
- 11:57was on the team except for until we got the senior day and he was
- 12:01that idiot with the white T-shirt free MO boy BK.
- 12:06He said yes, I'm looking at, say, Following BK's departure
- 12:09from LSU, Patrick was hired by Ole Miss as their assistant
- 12:12director of football support. Yeah.
- 12:14He should and hopefully he does better than his daddy because
- 12:20Brian Kelly was a bomb. I think we all thought he was
- 12:23this great coach and I think when he actually went to a
- 12:27school where he could compete for a national championship with
- 12:31all the recruiting talent in the world, I mean, you can stand on
- 12:34his balcony of that office and throw a rock and hit.
- 12:37A fire store? That's a famous line.
- 12:39Yep, that's. Right.
- 12:40And he consistently missed. I'm pretty sure he fell off the
- 12:44balcony trying to do that one time, I mean.
- 12:48Clip that. Clip that.
- 12:51He just couldn't get it done. I think he got exposed and I
- 12:54think that's why you've seen him struggle so much to find a job
- 12:58in football again. You know, that's why he had to
- 13:01take Acbs analyst job. Which Speaking of that, I've
- 13:06never been more thankful that the SEC tend to deal with ABC
- 13:14then I am now because with Brian Kelly as a analyst for them, we
- 13:19don't have to see him ever again because we will never play.
- 13:22On CBS and get angled that's a great game now about but you
- 13:26know it's funny because like I'm not I'm not overly crazy about
- 13:30us having straight SEC game on ESPN because it's like the world
- 13:33wide leader of sports traditionally you should be able
- 13:36to in theory you should be able to play any conference on there.
- 13:40We we grew up on SEC and CBS. Vern Lundquist, Gary Danielson,
- 13:44Tracy Wilson, you know Tim Brando in the studio.
- 13:46It was such a great thing, but just.
- 13:48I understand where we come from. I have to say, though, I do miss
- 13:52those CBSSEC championship games with those two trying their very
- 13:59best not to show that Alabama and Nick Saban biased and
- 14:02failing so hard every game, every time.
- 14:06It didn't matter if Alabama wasn't in the championship game.
- 14:11They would be like, well, Alabama this, Alabama that.
- 14:13Yeah, But, you know, moving on and talking about the things,
- 14:21you know, key returners, which honestly, if you look at this
- 14:26list is such a terrible precedence for college football
- 14:29because you have Trinidad Chambles coming back who was
- 14:32denied eligibility by the NC double, you know?
- 14:37But a state judge in Mississippi said, oh, you play for Ole Miss,
- 14:43We'll grant you eligibility, you know?
- 14:47Shows you how much force range for supreme yeah, it's like it's
- 14:50not like the best like I said it's not the best message.
- 14:54But like I said, NCI always would go back to NCAA just like
- 14:57just so always relate to the party, never no fervency about
- 15:03like enforcing consistency about anything that they do.
- 15:06Yeah, so. I believe I had this
- 15:09conversation with my dad week about a week ago.
- 15:13The way I see it, what needs to happen is the NCAA needs to have
- 15:19its own court system. Yeah, that, that is good.
- 15:24Instead of having it be, you know, you get a few lawyers that
- 15:31have nothing to do and no knowledge of college athletics,
- 15:33which is kind of hard, But I mean, as far as teams go, you
- 15:38know what I mean? And you put them on a panel and
- 15:43you put some other people on the panel.
- 15:45And when we have these kind of disputes like Trinidad had where
- 15:50they deny him eligibility instead of going to the state
- 15:53courts, that will 100% always back that player in that state.
- 15:59Yeah, unless it's. Like unless it's like Alabama
- 16:02and you go the state of Alabama, who has Auburn and Alabama at
- 16:05that? You might get a federal judge
- 16:07from that's an Auburn grad and the kid from Alabama is trying
- 16:13to argue for eligibility and that judge just said no, you're
- 16:15ineligible or the vice versa. But.
- 16:19Still no, that's true. My point being like, you can the
- 16:23NCAA could do a lot of this And I saw online somebody said, you
- 16:28know, those in like, would you use Trinidad's case as a
- 16:33example? What the the NCAA denies you
- 16:36your appeal, you denies your eligibility and you appeal it
- 16:39and they still deny it. You should move on to the draft.
- 16:42But if you do and you get a judge in this case, like, oh, a
- 16:45Mississippi judge says he's eligible every game he plays in.
- 16:49If the NCAA says you're not eligible, every game he plays in
- 16:52is forfeit. I mean, at some point the NCAA
- 16:58needs to put their big boy pants on and just.
- 17:00But that, but that's, that's the part like we, I always go back
- 17:03to the same like we the the, the athletes are so villainized in
- 17:08these things. But just like, but it's the
- 17:10grown-ups that are supposed to step up and make these changes.
- 17:14They're so step up and put these regulations like stop
- 17:16villainizing the kids. I'm not saying like they're,
- 17:19they're, they're like they're perfect.
- 17:21I'm just, but but think about it like just even with like the the
- 17:24recruiting stuff and with like the portal stuff.
- 17:26When you look at the fact that when they leave about go to
- 17:30these different areas, who's to say the parents and who's to say
- 17:32like the like their advisors are not pulling the streams?
- 17:36Yeah. And look, so I'm not saying
- 17:38anything about Trinidad. Yeah, that's not.
- 17:41What I'm doing here? Yeah, absolutely.
- 17:44Yeah. Because he's not the one who
- 17:46started this terrible presidents is being set with this.
- 17:50Yeah, Diego Pavia did. Because he's just doing the same
- 17:54thing that Diego Pavia did where he went to JUCO first and now
- 18:01he's trying to get those years back.
- 18:04That's all he's trying to do here.
- 18:06I'm just saying instead of having the courts come in, the
- 18:11NCAA should set up a court in and of itself, a panel with a
- 18:16judge. And when you have these kind of
- 18:19disputes, instead of having the NCAA try to make a decision, you
- 18:25know, they take it to that court system.
- 18:27That way the US government is not involved in anything, you
- 18:32know? I'm with that totally percent.
- 18:34Because I think that's where we that just set up a president's
- 18:38like if technically if we wanted to, we could go get any LSU
- 18:43player that went in the draft that has technical eligibility
- 18:47left and get a Louisiana judge to sign.
- 18:51He's eligible. Yeah.
- 18:54You know. Yeah, and think with that just I
- 18:56do like respect like with league rules and stuff like that.
- 18:59Once you, you know, hire it or like just a sport like when once
- 19:03you hire an agent, you you're just like you've already
- 19:07transitioned to the pro level. That's how it.
- 19:09Used to be, but now they all have.
- 19:11Just like that's the thing. And I just feel like, but again,
- 19:15it goes back to like say it's a lot of the frustration has come
- 19:20back. You just have no and reliance.
- 19:22You have no consistency in what you do.
- 19:25What I think needs to happen is we need to start a new career
- 19:32field, a new office at all of these schools, on all of these
- 19:35campuses for these student athletes to where the school
- 19:39provides them a manager or an agent.
- 19:42They don't get to choose what agent they have.
- 19:46The school is for you. School provides you an agent and
- 19:50that's how they do this in IL so we can get back to the once you
- 19:54sign an age with an agency, you forgo your eligibility.
- 19:59Yeah, that's right. You know, this needs to be
- 20:02something on the school level. The school offers you so much
- 20:06more. We need to put these are college
- 20:09athletes and student athletes. We need to put the student part
- 20:12back into it. I'm fine with them getting paid.
- 20:15Yeah. And everything because I fit, a
- 20:20part of me feels like they should.
- 20:22Well, I mean, and, and you, you have the right feeling on that
- 20:25because it's yeah. But you, you, you do you make so
- 20:28much money off these these children.
- 20:30So it's it's like, and coaches, there's a lot of coaches that
- 20:33complaint like we had talked about Dabo last.
- 20:35I'm like, brother, like you making a what, how much money
- 20:38you've made during your time at Clemson and the kids can't get
- 20:41their share like. Speaking of him, he, I think I
- 20:46read this right and I think it's not from one of those AI ones.
- 20:49I think it's from actual him because I think it was ESPN said
- 20:54he's putting them on, making them sign a contract.
- 20:58If he's going to pay a kid $1,000,000 for the school when
- 21:01denial, I'm on him. He's not, but he's making them
- 21:05either sign the contract and if they transfer, they lose that
- 21:09money, whatever money was on, you know, kind of like a free
- 21:13agency deal. You know, he wants them to sign
- 21:16a contract with the school. You know which I mean, look, I'm
- 21:19fine with all these players getting paid, mainly because if
- 21:23you look at it, you know, there are some guys that some
- 21:27athletes, guys or girls in these, I don't want to say
- 21:31lesser sports, but these lesser known sports.
- 21:34Like they don't get less profitable sports.
- 21:37Yeah, like, they don't get a lot of traction in the media.
- 21:41You know who are there, But their scholarship doesn't pay
- 21:46for everything and they might need to work, you know?
- 21:52Yeah, that's right. Or like their sport.
- 21:55Their sport doesn't have a professional thing after, you
- 22:00know now. Like you have a, an Olympic
- 22:03sports, I mean, because like, but you got to start typically
- 22:05like when swimming and Jeanette like they start early.
- 22:08So it's like before they wanted in high school.
- 22:12So, I mean, and a lot of them are not even in high school.
- 22:17They homeschooled the whole time and just training the whole
- 22:20time. But you know, we lost the we
- 22:23kind of lost the plot. We're on Ole Miss and we talked
- 22:25about NIL. But what you were going to say,
- 22:27well. No, I was going to say real
- 22:29quick, just like just to piggyback off your point about
- 22:32just them getting dollars, like I said, just I do want like
- 22:37these young, these young adults, these young athletes to get some
- 22:41type of return on their investment because it's a
- 22:43tremendous sacrifice. Because like people, I, I feel
- 22:47like people have just an idea that people believe that the pro
- 22:50ranks are just guaranteed to them.
- 22:52What? What if there's nothing about
- 22:54that as guaranteed to do? You've got to be the best of the
- 22:57best, and I think a lot of people, especially in the SEC
- 23:03when it comes to pros are, you know, Oh well, they're going to
- 23:06go in the pros and make their money because we're used to.
- 23:11We're used to 13 to 20 guys off of a roster getting drafted in
- 23:16the NFL. Yeah, you know, but.
- 23:19And like, and it's not to say like they they supposed to have
- 23:21like, you know, they're going to have these great career.
- 23:23I'm like they may make it to the league just because you played
- 23:26at big school. You may not even make it to the
- 23:27league. I think you have a better shot.
- 23:29But just like, but I just feel like these you should have with
- 23:33all the sacrifices that knowledge that the that the
- 23:36individual made, but the families have made and the
- 23:38people connected to them have made.
- 23:40I just they should deserve they they deserve like a some type of
- 23:42return on their investment. That's what I'm saying so.
- 23:47You know, since we downed this, what I really think is, you
- 23:50know, these kids at these 1817181920 year olds are making
- 23:55millions. I think they need to be put it
- 23:57in a trust. You know, they get a little bit
- 24:04of it. Yeah, still.
- 24:07But like I mean I can think of just 18 year old me if I would
- 24:10signed a contract, got $1,000,000, I would blow that
- 24:13$1,000,000 so fast. Yeah, I mean just like I would
- 24:16be test. You know you can't expect a 18
- 24:20to 20 year old to be to be financially responsible.
- 24:24Because a lot because a lot of older people not responsible
- 24:27financially so. I'm not financially responsible
- 24:31as I should be. Yeah, I mean, look, man.
- 24:34I mean I. Feel like I've made strong but
- 24:36there's a lot of work to be done.
- 24:38I don't even have a house yet. But I mean, you know, my point
- 24:42is you look at all of these athletes that make all these
- 24:46money, all this money, and when they get the money and they
- 24:50haven't had the money, they go and blow it all.
- 24:57You know, which, that's fine, that's your money, that's what
- 25:00you do. But, you know, but let's look
- 25:03out for these kids a little bit. You can give them the millions
- 25:06of dollars, but don't give it to them all at once.
- 25:09Put some up, give them a certain percentage, and then put the
- 25:11rest of it in a trust that they can't, you know?
- 25:14Yeah. Make them take a financial
- 25:16literacy course and everything. You should.
- 25:21If you go get $1,000,000 just in a lump sum, you should be able
- 25:24to write a check. That should be the bare minimum.
- 25:28Not just swipe the car. Swipe the car, you should be
- 25:31able to write a check. If you can cash the check, you
- 25:36should be able to write the check.
- 25:38Like just make sure you draw the line space you don't fill up.
- 25:42Man, you know what else? Just because I'm a T-shirt and
- 25:45this is one of those things if you look have that much of A
- 25:48check, big of a check, you should be able to sign your name
- 25:51in cursive. Write your signature.
- 25:54Yes, indeed, that's better. But so key returners for Ole
- 25:59Miss, we have Trinidad Kiwan, Lacey Perkins and Echoes.
- 26:07Is that how you say that I? Feel like William echoes, I must
- 26:10say. Echoes something like that
- 26:13running quarterback, running back in deep linebacker in ADT,
- 26:17You know, yeah, they're early. LSU is their earliest kind of to
- 26:23me though, I think that Louisville game, I think they're
- 26:26looking forward 3 weeks. Yeah, I'm looking at like I
- 26:30pulled up something from SB Nation, you know, 6 old missed
- 26:33players named to Phil Stills, All American team.
- 26:37And like, you know, just like, like you say, K1 Lacy, first
- 26:41team, Lucas Carnerio. And we apologize for butchering
- 26:46butchering these names, ladies and gentlemen, FYI.
- 26:48First team LSU players names. Yeah.
- 26:51So like we, we. Like Patrick?
- 26:53Kutas third team offensive lineman will echo.
- 26:56We just talked about 13D lineman you got perks or train Perkins
- 27:0213 linebacker, Keaton Thomas 14 linebacker.
- 27:06Now, what's crazy is that Trinidad is not on his list, but
- 27:10I guess like they assume probably because of the
- 27:12eligibility stuff, you know, with the public, but just but I
- 27:15mean, but nonetheless, I think you you see what Lane has really
- 27:19built and re established there. I kind of saw it back then with
- 27:23Hugh Freeze for like that two year run when he beat Bama
- 27:26back-to-back year. You saw them coming up, but it
- 27:29wasn't as steady as Lane has made it.
- 27:32So I think it's just yeah, that's you know, my dad told me
- 27:35this lesson years ago because I you know, when I talked about
- 27:39Les Miles people, I was like, Oh, we just what would Nick
- 27:41chamber play? I said, and like he told me like
- 27:44because I had, I was frustrated with that because, I mean, you
- 27:47still got to a lot of those guys who when he won the championship
- 27:50with like being developed under him, you know, they weren't
- 27:52recruited by him, they were developed by him.
- 27:54So I was telling asthma desk like why?
- 27:56How can you shed that, that criticism?
- 27:58How he said do it again. Yeah, not to his credit.
- 28:02He though he didn't win. He did go to the championship
- 28:05game and I'll bring that. Up and I think look.
- 28:07Yeah, go ahead, go ahead, go ahead.
- 28:08Just. For your point, yeah, about Les
- 28:11Miles, yeah, he did do it again. But then he ran into that buzz,
- 28:15thought it was Nick Saban. Oh yeah, for sure, no doubt, no
- 28:18doubt it just like, I mean because he he had to go, so I
- 28:21mean no doubt about that, but just like, and I bring that up
- 28:24because I'll be curious to see, you know, how old Miss Operation
- 28:29would fall. So, you know, going back, just
- 28:32going back-to-back, then I think that game would have been so
- 28:36much different, the national championship game if he wouldn't
- 28:42have ran with the Jordan Jefferson of it all solely.
- 28:47I think if he did the, I think the reason we won that first
- 28:50game and Bama when we played them is because we had to do a
- 28:55quarterback system with neither quarterback as good as they
- 28:59thought they were. You know, the fan base was
- 29:01divided. Half thought Jordan Jefferson
- 29:03was the way to go. The other half thought Jared Lee
- 29:05was the way to go. You know, even though we were
- 29:09the fan base was divided, a lot of the games that we won those
- 29:14close games that year was because of two things.
- 29:17It was the defense and it was 2 very different styles of offense
- 29:22with the two quarterbacks in, you know, and I think if you, if
- 29:27Les Miles wouldn't have been as stubborn as he was and ran with
- 29:32the two quarterback system all the way through, it wouldn't,
- 29:34I'm not saying we'd have won that game because Nick Saban,
- 29:38you know, is Nick Saban, but they do quarterback system.
- 29:44You've got to prepare for two different offenses and that's a
- 29:47lot, you know. But going back to Ole Miss, you
- 29:53know we have, they go on September 6th, they play in
- 29:57Nashville to Louisville and really they shouldn't struggle
- 30:01with Louisville. Music City kick off.
- 30:04You know when you're looking forward 3 weeks in, not looking
- 30:10for and not focusing on the game, the task at hand, you have
- 30:14a lot of room for trip UPS. Yeah, and that's trap game.
- 30:19Trap game city. That's the one that really
- 30:21boiled down to. Then they go they we played them
- 30:24on September 19th and they always every time they can.
- 30:30They always denote in this AI thing because Ole Miss fans do
- 30:34it have versus LSU Magnolia both slash Kippen's return.
- 30:42You know, and look, I'm not trying to give any hints to any
- 30:45of LSU's opponents, but Lane Kiffen is to get a scholarship
- 30:50patrol. He lives he lives rent free in
- 30:54y'all head every interview I've heard so far.
- 30:57And Lane Kiffen knew exactly what he's doing in that
- 31:00interview that he did with Vogue.
- 31:02He could have chose any story that he wanted to or anything,
- 31:07but he went with that. And they talk about, they asked
- 31:11Trinidad stuff and Trinidad brings that up.
- 31:14You mean he's living rent free. And you know, and I think that's
- 31:18what's going to it the whole season to them is whether or not
- 31:23they get AW on September 19th. You know.
- 31:27I don't think the rest of the season.
- 31:29They're worried about the rest of the season, as long as they
- 31:32get that win on September 19th. I think they think they won a
- 31:35national championship, but I think it'll be a pretty good
- 31:37game, you know? Yeah, it's it's one of those
- 31:42pesky, pesky annual opponents we have like, yeah, Arkansas is one
- 31:47of those pesky opponents that we normally have.
- 31:50Yeah, it's going to be, no, I like, I know we're talking
- 31:53about, you know, college Game Day is going to be at Clemson.
- 31:55I know a lot of people are seeing it.
- 31:57This is going to be at the College Game day atmosphere as
- 32:01well. I mean, because I didn't want to
- 32:03give LG 2 or so early. I mean, regard regardless of the
- 32:07the the atmosphere, yeah, it's going to be spectacular.
- 32:11The FCC is playing into this too, because when they announced
- 32:14the schedule, they announced it after Kiffin took the job and
- 32:19when they announced the schedule and then the whole middle way
- 32:21for each team. Technically, we should be going
- 32:25to Texas A&M this year because they came to us last year.
- 32:28Yeah. And we went to Ole Miss last
- 32:31year. We should go to Ole Miss.
- 32:33I mean, that Ole Miss should come to us this year.
- 32:36But they saw the Lane Kiffin of it all, the profitability of it
- 32:39in Oxford and said we're going to sit, we're going to swap
- 32:42those two and we're going to send A&M back to Death Valley.
- 32:47If face the real tigers, those tigers they faced last year at
- 32:50Death Valley wasn't was a joke. They going to face the real
- 32:54Tigers this year, you know, But so much like we were talking
- 32:58about last night, so much of LSU schedule lines up exactly the
- 33:03way it did last year with Tech being the second home game of
- 33:08the year after Clemson. You know.
- 33:11Yeah, but you have any closing thoughts?
- 33:15You know, just like like you had brought up just already circling
- 33:18the national calendar come to bought him away stadium, you
- 33:22know, like I said, you know, just it's but this has been a a
- 33:25very interesting summer offseason for like LSU sports
- 33:29with just like the villain, the villain arc and stuff like this.
- 33:32A lot of people are not quite fond of our beloved alma mater.
- 33:37But I mean, it's come with the territory of sports.
- 33:39You're going to be viewed as high sometimes be viewed as low
- 33:42as just the ebbs and. Flows.
- 33:43So I'm just, I don't put too much into because like at the
- 33:46end of the day, I just want us to be successful.
- 33:50I don't care. Like I don't like, I don't get
- 33:51too caught up into like LSU is favored by 20 points to get out.
- 33:55I don't know about that. The only time I would get into
- 33:58that is I'm going to get into it later on today.
- 34:02It's like when we play teams like Louisiana Tech and McNeese
- 34:06State, you know, teams that shouldn't give us an issue.
- 34:10That's when I get into, you know, that's when I look at the
- 34:13point spread and say OK, you should beat this team by that
- 34:16when it's conference teams or other Power Four teams.
- 34:18That I care nothing about that. Compete.
- 34:21You might as well not even put that on the thing because you
- 34:24know, you LSU, you're an SEC team.
- 34:26Other SEC teams are going to have your number.
- 34:30You know, it's a fist fight all the way through.
- 34:32Yeah, that's it. Unless unless you're like his so
- 34:35historically, like if you just like significantly outmatched
- 34:40out overpowered on the team or you just on such a historic
- 34:43tear. I mean, other than that, I don't
- 34:45really, I don't even with that, I don't really care.
- 34:48I mean, because you just got to do it at the end of the day, you
- 34:50got to go out and play the game. Exactly.
- 34:53But that'll do it from us. You have a great day, a great
- 34:56night. Whatever you have, just make it
- 34:57a great one. We'll see you all next.
- 34:59Week. Peace.
- 35:01Peace.
