Yeah, the ball rolls fast, like a shooting star chasing dreams.

We've come so far. The world 's our state.
• 0:40
Hi and welcome to Kick Ass Daily, the show that covers
• 0:44
everything from outer space to ocean depths, sports superstars
• 0:48
to science breakthroughs, all made just for you.
• 0:51
Today, we are lacing up our cleats and shining a bright
• 0:54
spotlight on big soccer news from last week and what is
• 0:58
coming up next. We have a brand new league
• 1:01
champion in England, a huge European title in women's
• 1:05
soccer, a men's final to look forward to, and updates on how
• 1:09
the world is getting ready for the next FIFA World Cup.
• 1:13
So let's get on with today's episode.
• 1:26
It took steady teamwork and smart coaching from their
• 1:29
manager, Mikkel Arteta, to make it happen.
• 1:32
Their stars brought energy and attack, their midfielders
• 1:36
created chances with sharp passing, and their defense
• 1:39
stayed organized like a brick wall when pressure built laid in
• 1:43
matches. Last week, the plan added up to
• 1:46
the biggest prize in English league soccer.
• 1:49
Winning the Premier League is special because it rewards
• 1:52
consistency. From August to May, they earned
• 1:55
a place at the top by playing bold, fast soccer and working
• 1:59
together. Now let's shift to women's
• 2:02
soccer in Europe, where another champion was crowned last week.
• 2:06
Barcelona completely defeated Olympic Liones 4 to 0 to win the
• 2:11
Women's Champions League. This tournament brings together
• 2:14
the best women's clubs from across Europe, and the final is
• 2:18
a single match to decide the trophy.
• 2:21
Barcelona's victory is huge because Lion has a long history
• 2:25
of success in this competition. But Barcelona's players
• 2:28
controlled the ball with masterful passing.
• 2:31
Forward Ava Pyre scored two fantastic goals and Selma Para
• 2:36
Louello added two more late in the game to cement their status
• 2:40
as European royalty. This one adds another chapter to
• 2:44
Barcelona's growing list of achievements, capturing 4 total
• 2:48
trophies this season. It also shows how the women's
• 2:51
game continues to rise in skill, speed and excitement.
• 2:56
More fans are watching, stadiums are fuller and young players
• 3:00
worldwide can see role models who show what dedication looks
• 3:03
like. With two major trophies decided
• 3:06
last week, there is still one more giant match coming up soon
• 3:10
on the men's side. The UEFA Champions League final
• 3:13
is set for next weekend and it features a massive showdown
• 3:17
between Paris Saint Germain and the new English champions
• 3:20
  Arsenal. PSG is bringing ultimate
• 3:23
attacking power with fast wingers who love to drive at
• 3:27
defenders, while Arsenal is looking to complete a historic
• 3:31
double by adding the European Cup to their brand new Premier
• 3:34
League trophy. The coaching staff for both
• 3:37
sides will spend this week reviewing video, practicing
• 3:40
patterns and planning learning how to handle different match
• 3:43
situations. Since this is a single match
• 3:46
  final, every single touch matters.
• 3:49
Now let's zoom out to the global stage because the FIFA Men's
• 3:53
World Cup is getting closer and preparations are in full swing.
• 3:58
The tournament will be hosted across the United States, Canada
• 4:02
and Mexico. Stadiums are finalizing seating
• 4:05
plans, testing scoreboards and checking lights and sound
• 4:09
  systems. Groundskeepers are caring for
• 4:12
the grass, measuring field lines carefully and making sure the
• 4:16
surface drains well in case of rain.
• 4:19
National teams are finishing their preliminary rosters.
• 4:23
Coaches are watching club matches and reviewing data on
• 4:27
running distance, Sprint speed and recovery to choose balance
• 4:31
  squads. Referees and assistant referees
• 4:34
are also preparing with fitness tests, video reviews and
• 4:39
practice using goal line technology and video assistant
• 4:42
referee systems. Volunteers in host cities are
• 4:46
learning how to direct visitors from train stations and airports
• 4:49
to stadiums and fan zones so everyone stays safe and has fun.
• 4:55
In the weeks before the tournament begins, many national
• 4:58
teams will play friendly matches to practice together.
• 5:01
These games help coaches test formations and choose which
• 5:05
midfield trios work best. Teams will also hold open
• 5:09
training sessions where local fans can watch warm ups and
• 5:13
passing drills. It is a great chance for
• 5:15
families to see players up close and learn how professional
• 5:19
practice runs. If you are new to soccer and
• 5:22
want to follow along, here are a few simple tips.
• 5:25
When you hear pressing, it means a team is trying to win the ball
• 5:28
quickly right after losing it. When you hear counter tack, it
• 5:33
means moving the ball forward fast when the other team is
• 5:36
caught out of shape. A clean sheet means not allowing
• 5:39
any goals. Just like Arsenal did so many
• 5:42
times this year, a brace is two goals by the same player.
• 5:47
Understanding these terms makes matches easier to follow and
• 5:51
more fun to watch. Let's wrap up with a quick
• 5:59
recap. Last week, Arsenal won the
• 6:02
Premier League by staying strong from the first match to the
• 6:05
  last. Barcelona claimed the Women's
• 6:08
Champions League with an incredible 4 to 0 shutout
• 6:12
against the top opponent. Next weekend, PSG and Arsenal
• 6:16
meet in the UEFA Champions League final, where careful
• 6:19
defense and quick attacks will decide the ultimate prize.
• 6:23
And all around North America, the hosts of the upcoming FIFA
• 6:28
World Cup are getting stadiums, teams, referees and fans ready
• 6:33
for a massive festival of soccer.
• 6:35
That is a lot to cheer about and there is even more ahead.
