- 2:23Speaker 6: text are welcome too, but I want to get right
- 2:25Speaker 6: to this. The announcement came on Wednesday, toward the end
- 2:28Speaker 6: of talk Line that Hoppy Kerchville would be stepping down
- 2:31Speaker 6: in the new year as the host of a metro
- 2:33Speaker 6: news talk line. He's not going away forever, still going
- 2:35Speaker 6: to be a contributor to the airways and other forms
- 2:38Speaker 6: of media, but just not doing the daily talk line thing.
- 2:41Speaker 6: The dean of West Virginia Broadcasters, Hoppykachful, joins us.
- 2:44Speaker 5: Now, good morning, sir, welcome to the show.
- 2:47Speaker 7: Good morning, Thanks for having me. I appreciate it.
- 2:49Speaker 6: Now I'm going to keep it long because I know
- 2:51Speaker 6: you have. You still got your show to prepare for.
- 2:53Speaker 6: You still got a lot of work to do, and
- 2:55Speaker 6: I'm going to preview your show as I always do
- 2:56Speaker 6: every day. But you said on the show a couple
- 2:59Speaker 6: of days ago that you thought it may be the
- 3:02Speaker 6: time to make the decision.
- 3:03Speaker 5: How did you arrive at that decision, sir.
- 3:05Speaker 7: Well, that's a great question. That is the existential question, Dave,
- 3:10Speaker 7: and I've been thinking about it for a while. I'll
- 3:13Speaker 7: give you a couple of bullet points on that. Number
- 3:16Speaker 7: one is that I'm going to be seventy in February.
- 3:18Speaker 7: You know, I just checked. You know, the average lifespan
- 3:21Speaker 7: for a male in this country is seventy five.
- 3:26Speaker 5: I didn't want to know that, but thank you.
- 3:28Speaker 7: Yeah. Well, not to be morbid about it, but I
- 3:31Speaker 7: mean think about it. So there is something that Joe
- 3:33Speaker 7: Manchin calls QTL quality time left, and so I think
- 3:37Speaker 7: about that. One of my closest friends died in the
- 3:41Speaker 7: last year from cancer, and I have no current health
- 3:44Speaker 7: issues of any substans, but you do think about those things.
- 3:47Speaker 7: And I didn't want it to be where, well where's
- 3:50Speaker 7: Hoppy today? Well he got sick or something happened, and
- 3:55Speaker 7: I didn't want to I wanted to have some of
- 3:58Speaker 7: that time for myself and my family. That was the
- 4:02Speaker 7: biggest thing in this. There are a couple other reasons too,
- 4:04Speaker 7: is that it's a good time for Dave and for TJ.
- 4:07Speaker 7: Meadows to step in and take over. They are anxious
- 4:12Speaker 7: to do that. They will continue to cover closely the
- 4:16Speaker 7: issues in West Virginia like I have done, like you do,
- 4:19Speaker 7: and they're younger, they're ready to go, so it's a
- 4:22Speaker 7: good time for them, good time for the company. And
- 4:25Speaker 7: then it just kind of feels right. I don't think
- 4:28Speaker 7: it's definitive, like, oh yeah, this is absolutely the right thing,
- 4:30Speaker 7: and I'm going to count down to days. It's not
- 4:32Speaker 7: that at all. It just kind of feels right. I
- 4:35Speaker 7: know I'm going to miss it tremendously because I've really
- 4:38Speaker 7: really enjoyed it. But for those and other reasons, it
- 4:41Speaker 7: just feels like it's time Tad again with Hoppy Kerchival.
- 4:44Speaker 6: What was it that made you want to go into
- 4:47Speaker 6: this crazy business to begin with? No, not talking about
- 4:50Speaker 6: talk line, I'm talking about just radio in general. What
- 4:53Speaker 6: was it that said hey, made you say, hey, I
- 4:55Speaker 6: want to do this?
- 4:56Speaker 7: Okay, quick story and that I grew up on a
- 5:00Speaker 7: a dairy farm in Jefferson County and it was out
- 5:03Speaker 7: in the country. It was kind of lonely and at
- 5:05Speaker 7: night I had this old radio and I would listen
- 5:08Speaker 7: to the radio and listen to those old great am
- 5:11Speaker 7: radio stations around the country like Super CFL in Chicago
- 5:15Speaker 7: and WKBW, and it was an era of big time
- 5:20Speaker 7: disc jockeys, and I wanted to be a disc jockey.
- 5:22Speaker 7: I wanted to be a radio star. And I got
- 5:25Speaker 7: my first job as a disc jockey when I was
- 5:29Speaker 7: like eighteen or nineteen. And the first day I went
- 5:32Speaker 7: into work, the person I was replacing handed me a
- 5:36Speaker 7: folder and it had some phone numbers scribbled on there.
- 5:40Speaker 7: It said, of like Sheriff's department, here's the number, State Police,
- 5:43Speaker 7: here's the number, prosecuting attorney. Here's the number. So what's
- 5:46Speaker 7: this He said, Well, you're also the news director. And
- 5:49Speaker 7: I said, what do you mean, I don't care about
- 5:50Speaker 7: the news, And no, no, you call these people and
- 5:52Speaker 7: you see if anything happened. And I okay, So I
- 5:56Speaker 7: did that, and I got interested. I thought this is interesting.
- 5:59Speaker 7: You know, the songs are just the same over and obelver,
- 6:01Speaker 7: but the news changes, and it's interesting. So I got
- 6:04Speaker 7: interested in news. I went to WV went to the
- 6:07Speaker 7: journalism school, got a job at WAJR. But that's how
- 6:11Speaker 7: it all started? I wanted to I had this something
- 6:13Speaker 7: struck me about radio, and then it, by accident sort
- 6:16Speaker 7: of transitioned into news and into talk.
- 6:19Speaker 6: Give us the brief history of talk Line. How did
- 6:22Speaker 6: this show come to be? And it's gone through different
- 6:26Speaker 6: phases because I can remember putting on Talkline on the
- 6:29Speaker 6: air years and years and years ago in logan, and
- 6:34Speaker 6: the talk line we hear today is not the way
- 6:36Speaker 6: that the show started out. Give us the brief history
- 6:39Speaker 6: of that.
- 6:39Speaker 7: Yeah, that's a good point. Years ago and everybody asked
- 6:42Speaker 7: me when did it start? And I honestly don't remember
- 6:44Speaker 7: the year.
- 6:45Speaker 5: It was around eighty nine or so.
- 6:47Speaker 7: Maybe probably probably something like that. And we were in
- 6:52Speaker 7: a meeting, a company meeting, Dale Miller, who built this company,
- 6:55Speaker 7: and a couple other people were in a meeting and
- 6:58Speaker 7: somehow the discussion of doing a talk show came up.
- 7:01Speaker 7: And I was at the time the news director of
- 7:02Speaker 7: Metro News, and it came up and people were just
- 7:06Speaker 7: spitballing ideas, and somebody said we should do a talk show,
- 7:09Speaker 7: and then somebody else said, yeah, Hoppy should do it.
- 7:11Speaker 7: And I said, wait, wait, wait a minute, wait a minute.
- 7:14Speaker 7: You know this requires a little more discussion, but it
- 7:16Speaker 7: happened very quickly. And when I started, I didn't I
- 7:21Speaker 7: thought what I had to do was what everybody else did.
- 7:23Speaker 7: I thought I had to copy rush Limbaugh or copy
- 7:25Speaker 7: other people and have other people on with me. And
- 7:28Speaker 7: it really evolved, and I had a number of people
- 7:32Speaker 7: with me, and then it became me and Don marsh
- 7:34Speaker 7: the late because that editor. Then Don passed away and
- 7:37Speaker 7: then it was just me. So it took a long time,
- 7:40Speaker 7: and there was really an evolution to get to where
- 7:42Speaker 7: it is now. And maybe Dave, maybe only in the
- 7:46Speaker 7: last couple of years have I really become more comfortable
- 7:49Speaker 7: and more self assured about myself in that role.
- 7:53Speaker 6: Again, we're talking with Hoppy kurch Ball, and as I
- 7:56Speaker 6: said at top, I know you're very busy. I won't
- 7:58Speaker 6: keep you because you get to get ready for ten
- 7:59Speaker 6: oh six and we can talk again later. But Hobby,
- 8:02Speaker 6: I you know you are an institution in this state,
- 8:04Speaker 6: and I just want to say thank you for all
- 8:06Speaker 6: you've done for this industry and the state. I personally
- 8:09Speaker 6: am appreciative for the advice you've given me over the
- 8:12Speaker 6: years and just providing me someone to look up to.
- 8:14Speaker 6: I started doing talk radio a little. I've done a
- 8:17Speaker 6: little in the past, but you know, full time a
- 8:20Speaker 6: little later in my career. What most people do, I
- 8:24Speaker 6: like you. I did music. I still do music here
- 8:27Speaker 6: in Charleston. But you're the inspiration and you're the reason
- 8:32Speaker 6: that myself and TJ. Meadows and Dave Wilson, some of
- 8:34Speaker 6: these other guys and the ones that do what I
- 8:36Speaker 6: do in other airs of the state, we look to
- 8:38Speaker 6: you because that's the way it's supposed to be done.
- 8:41Speaker 6: In my humble opinion.
- 8:42Speaker 7: Well, you're very kind, and you know what I've done,
- 8:46Speaker 7: Dave is one. We work for a great company. This
- 8:50Speaker 7: is a wonderful company that still believes in the value
- 8:54Speaker 7: of spoken word format in news and talk. And number
- 8:57Speaker 7: two is just keep showing up. Just keep showing up
- 9:01Speaker 7: and making mistakes and hopefully, you know, getting better as
- 9:05Speaker 7: time goes on. And I really appreciate this company and
- 9:10Speaker 7: people such as yourself and others who remain committed to
- 9:14Speaker 7: news and talk radio. And I think it's valuable. I
- 9:16Speaker 7: just think I think what happens in the stage is important.
- 9:19Speaker 7: We're like a mid size community. I think it's important
- 9:22Speaker 7: for people to know what's going on. You deal with
- 9:25Speaker 7: those issues every day, and we're going to continue to
- 9:27Speaker 7: do that with what you do, with what Dave and
- 9:31Speaker 7: TJ are going to do. And I look forward to listening,
- 9:33Speaker 7: look forward to being a listener.
- 9:35Speaker 6: Eventually everyone in the company will be named Dave, just
- 9:38Speaker 6: so you know that that's why you're being forced out.
- 9:41Speaker 5: Hoppy.
- 9:42Speaker 6: I appreciate you. We'll probably talk to you again before
- 9:44Speaker 6: you hang it up for God. But thanks a lot, buddy,
- 9:46Speaker 6: I really appreciate everything.
- 9:48Speaker 7: Well, thank you for your kind words. I appreciate it.
- 9:49Speaker 5: You have a great show you as well.
- 9:51Speaker 6: All Right, Hoppy, Kurchable and Hoppy is coming up at
- 9:53Speaker 6: ten oh six with Metro News talk Line from the
- 9:55Speaker 6: Cove Insurance Studios and.
- 9:57Speaker 5: The Dale Miller Ability to Morgantown.
- 9:58Speaker 6: New WVU football coach Rich Rodriguez is first. This should
- 10:03Speaker 6: be an interesting interview. I will definitely be listening to that.
- 10:07Speaker 6: Might we see another government shutdown? We touched on it
- 10:12Speaker 6: yesterday based on a text to the show I got yesterday.
- 10:14Speaker 5: Hobby is going to get.
- 10:15Speaker 6: Into more of that new core in need of another
- 10:18Speaker 6: seventy five million dollars. Steven Allen Adams is on to
- 10:21Speaker 6: talk to Hobby about that. Plus the US Attorney for
- 10:23Speaker 6: the Southern District, Will Thompson, on the sentencing of the
- 10:26Speaker 6: former police chief of Galli Bridge who was convicted. This
- 10:29Speaker 6: is a bizarre story, convicted of sex trafficking of a minor.
- 10:34Speaker 6: He was the former police chief of Galli Bridge and
- 10:37Speaker 6: Will Thompson will talk about that, plus Brad's on the
- 10:39Speaker 6: show today, Jared Halper to Fox News Radio, and of
- 10:41Speaker 6: course with it being Friday, that means Steam Release programming notes.
- 10:45Speaker 6: Someone asked me yesterday if Steam Release would be continuing
- 10:48Speaker 6: after Hoppy retires and.
- 10:49Speaker 5: Dave Wilson and TJ. Meadows takeover.
- 10:51Speaker 6: As far as I know, yes, it will continue. That's
- 10:55Speaker 6: Hoppy coming up at ten and six. Now, normally I
- 10:57Speaker 6: would go right into talking to Hannah Gardner from the
- 10:59Speaker 6: Kannaal char Umane Association with this week's Adopt Me Please
- 11:02Speaker 6: Pet of the Week, But to everybody at the shelters,
- 11:03Speaker 6: a little busy this morning, so I don't have them
- 11:06Speaker 6: on with me, but I do have our Adopt Me
- 11:08Speaker 6: Please Pet of the Week, as I always do. I
- 11:10Speaker 6: urge you to head on over to my social media.
- 11:14Speaker 6: It's Dave Allen Radio on Facebook or at Dave a
- 11:16Speaker 6: seventy on X, the artist formally known as Twitter, and
- 11:19Speaker 6: take a look at Travis Junior. That is our dog today.
- 11:23Speaker 5: He is a male.
- 11:24Speaker 6: He's two years old, thirty two pounds. He's neutered, microchipped,
- 11:29Speaker 6: and vaccinated.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Now.
- 11:30Speaker 6: Hannah tells me that he came in as a stray.
- 11:33Speaker 6: He is available to be fostered. He does appear to
- 11:36Speaker 6: be dog friendly and he prefers calmer dogs. Beautiful. I
- 11:41Speaker 6: got a thing for beagles. Chris Lawrence and I were
- 11:43Speaker 6: having a debate about this. He's a retriever guy. I'm
- 11:46Speaker 6: a beagle guy. I love the beagles. But anyway, he's
- 11:48Speaker 6: a beautiful, beautiful dog. His name is Travis Junior. I
- 11:51Speaker 6: would love to talk to Hannah. We were just texting.
- 11:53Speaker 6: I'd like to talk to her to know why he's
- 11:56Speaker 6: called Travis Junior. But he's a beautiful dog, two years old,
- 11:59Speaker 6: around thirty two pounds, newtered, microchip, vaccinated, ready to go home,
- 12:03Speaker 6: and if you want to foster one, he is definitely
- 12:06Speaker 6: available to be fostered. We got a picture posted at
- 12:10Speaker 6: Dave Allen Radio and Facebook and at Dave a seventy
- 12:13Speaker 6: on X and Hannah not with us this week because
- 12:16Speaker 6: of some prior commitments. She and Angie and everybody at
- 12:18Speaker 6: the shelter. We're kind of tied up this morning, but
- 12:19Speaker 6: we will have them back on the show next week.
- 12:21Speaker 6: But Dave Allen showing five eighty Live is brought to

- 12:42Speaker 6: how about the government giving another seventy five million dollars
- 12:45Speaker 6: to New Court. Total state funding to the highly profitable

- 12:52Speaker 6: raises as another use for that money. How about electrical
- 12:55Speaker 6: upgrades to our older schools. How do we expect our
- 12:58Speaker 6: children to compete in the job mark market if they
- 13:00Speaker 6: don't have the skills necessary because the school's infrastructure is
- 13:04Speaker 6: unable to power current technology. Hoppy ask why the state
- 13:08Speaker 6: is giving more money to the highly profitable New Core.
- 13:10Speaker 6: It's because they're desperate and our children have to do
- 13:14Speaker 6: with less because of it. I'm gonna get into if
- 13:15Speaker 6: I get time a little bit later on some of
- 13:17Speaker 6: the stuff from New Core. Appreciate the texture there, Texas.
- 13:20Speaker 6: Dave was there an ask the Lawyer's show yesterday. I
- 13:22Speaker 6: don't see it on the podcast list, Yes there was.
- 13:24Speaker 5: I listened to it.
- 13:26Speaker 6: Ron Hughes was in the coups on vacation. Ron Hughes
- 13:29Speaker 6: was in on the show yesterday as the host with
- 13:31Speaker 6: Harvey Payton. Maybe we can have Ryan or Matt Murphy.
- 13:34Speaker 6: Somebody check on that. I don't know why the podcast
- 13:36Speaker 6: isn't there if it's not, but we'll check on it.
- 13:38Speaker 6: We'll try to get it up. There was a show yesterday.

- 15:42Speaker 6: got new chairs here in the building, and apparently we

- 15:47Speaker 6: reason for that because because animal is just rolling around

- 16:37Speaker 6: will go to noon. I think at Women's and children's
- 16:40Speaker 6: got some folks.
- 16:40Speaker 5: Here to talk about. I go ahead and just introduce yourselves.
- 16:43Speaker 10: My name is Corey Mohawk Hinkle. I'm the original organizer
- 16:47Speaker 10: for the event. It started because my daughter, Chloe Hinkle,
- 16:50Speaker 10: was in there eleven years ago.
- 16:52Speaker 5: Okay, And who do we have over here?
- 16:55Speaker 10: Giggle giggles?
- 16:57Speaker 5: Giggles?
- 16:58Speaker 6: Animal referred to you as giggles? Is there a reason
- 17:00Speaker 6: why why we were supposed to call you giggles.
- 17:02Speaker 11: I don't talk a lot during interviews. I just really laugh.
- 17:06Speaker 6: Okay, all right, but you know, okay, all right, all right,
- 17:09Speaker 6: So all right, so let's start that she doesn't talk
- 17:11Speaker 6: a lot.
- 17:12Speaker 5: We'll go back to you.
- 17:12Speaker 6: Okay, So tell I mean, if you don't mind, and
- 17:17Speaker 6: tell us the story. You said that your daughter who's
- 17:19Speaker 6: with us, uh was in the hospital. There is that, right, yes,
- 17:22Speaker 6: all right, tell us the story if you don't mind
- 17:23Speaker 6: telling us story.
- 17:24Speaker 10: It's fun. Eleven years ago in September there, West Virginia
- 17:30Speaker 10: got hit with the upper respiratory infection real bad, was
- 17:33Speaker 10: infecting kids and stuff like that, and the hospital was
- 17:36Speaker 10: over full. She was one of the ones that was
- 17:39Speaker 10: in there with the upper respiratory infection and she was
- 17:42Speaker 10: in there for six days and at the time, there
- 17:47Speaker 10: was a lady that was working there by the name
- 17:48Speaker 10: of Christy Bissett. And uh, there's a playroom up there
- 17:51Speaker 10: that the kids can go to and get crayons, color
- 17:54Speaker 10: and books, puzzles, DVDs. Each room up there has a
- 17:59Speaker 10: DVD player in it that if the families or the
- 18:02Speaker 10: kids want to watch a movie while they're in there,
- 18:04Speaker 10: they can. A lot of that stuff was broken, stolen.
- 18:09Speaker 10: People decided to take it upon theirselves and walk home
- 18:12Speaker 10: with it, I guess you could say. And I got
- 18:15Speaker 10: to talking with Christy Bissett at the time, and that's
- 18:19Speaker 10: where the toy ride come from. It gives the kids
- 18:23Speaker 10: something to do while they're in there. No kid wants
- 18:25Speaker 10: to be in the hospital, sure, and if you're up there,
- 18:29Speaker 10: if you have kids or anything like that and you're
- 18:31Speaker 10: up there, it just sucks for them. Most of them
- 18:36Speaker 10: don't understand what's going on. They see all these machines,
- 18:41Speaker 10: they see all these wires. They're uncomfortable, and it kind
- 18:44Speaker 10: of this gives them something to not so much look
- 18:47Speaker 10: forward to, but maybe distract them or get their spirits
- 18:50Speaker 10: up or something like that. So I got to working
- 18:54Speaker 10: with her and we end up putting together eleven years ago,
- 18:57Speaker 10: and then it's grown to what it is now. It
- 19:02Speaker 10: it's a it's a great thing.
- 19:04Speaker 6: Talk about that growth over the years of where it
- 19:06Speaker 6: where it started eleven years ago and where it is now.
- 19:09Speaker 5: Because from when I understand, this thing is huge.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Man.
- 19:14Speaker 10: The least amount of motorcycles we've had riding this is
- 19:17Speaker 10: one hundred and eighty seven. The most is three hundred
- 19:20Speaker 10: and ninety four. Three hundred and ninety four, yes, okay,
- 19:24Speaker 10: And it takes place every year the third Saturday in December.
- 19:28Speaker 10: We never change it.
- 19:31Speaker 6: So I would imagine you've you've done this thing in
- 19:33Speaker 6: all sorts of weather, right, I mean tomorrow it's going
- 19:36Speaker 6: to be cold, but it's going to be sunny at
- 19:38Speaker 6: least from what I understand. So, but you've probably done
- 19:40Speaker 6: this thing in all kinds of weather.
- 19:42Speaker 10: This event takes place regardless of the weather. The only
- 19:45Speaker 10: way that it will not take place is if we're
- 19:47Speaker 10: under state of an emergency. The coldest it's been one year,
- 19:51Speaker 10: I think it was six degrees and we had almost
- 19:54Speaker 10: three hundred motorcycles that year that rode in it.
- 19:58Speaker 6: Motorcyclist. I've said this before motorcyclists are like golfers. They
- 20:02Speaker 6: don't care what the elements are, especially and especially if
- 20:04Speaker 6: they're having fun and at the same time they're doing
- 20:08Speaker 6: something to help out a cause like this, they don't care.
- 20:12Speaker 10: You'd be surprised a lot of them more than fair
- 20:13Speaker 10: weather riders.
- 20:16Speaker 5: Trying to give you guys a benefit of the doubt.
- 20:17Speaker 10: Oh, there are some fairweather riders that above eighty five.
- 20:21Speaker 10: They ain't get on that one.
- 20:22Speaker 5: I understand that.
- 20:23Speaker 10: I understand that. But this is that one time of
- 20:25Speaker 10: the year that everybody comes together and does this one
- 20:28Speaker 10: thing for the kids. And if you've never seen it
- 20:31Speaker 10: or been a part of it, you can still drop off.
- 20:33Speaker 10: There's still fifteen or sixteen locations that we got to
- 20:36Speaker 10: pick up today.
- 20:37Speaker 6: I want to talk about that because you have been collecting,
- 20:40Speaker 6: and I got a list here of all these places
- 20:43Speaker 6: that you have been collecting, and it would be easier
- 20:45Speaker 6: in Kanaw County for me to give you a list
- 20:47Speaker 6: of places that haven't been collecting, which I think has
- 20:51Speaker 6: something to do with the spirit, and I always talk
- 20:53Speaker 6: about it on this show, the spirit we have in
- 20:56Speaker 6: this state of helping people out.
- 20:58Speaker 10: Yeah, now we have fifteen or sixteen locations, Blizzards Custom
- 21:05Speaker 10: Cycles along with back with Born Grill in Systonville.
- 21:14Speaker 6: Yeah, I think I've got a list over here. Blizzards Generations, Barbershop,
- 21:18Speaker 6: Red Lobster, Charleston. I guess these are people that have
- 21:21Speaker 6: where they can drop things off, right, I don't get
- 21:23Speaker 6: my list mixed up. Elk River Bar and Grill see
- 21:25Speaker 6: Adam Tony Tires of Hurricane, Fifth Third Bank, Inas City
- 21:28Speaker 6: Town and Country Lanes, Nitro Ta and them meets Cross Lanes,
- 21:31Speaker 6: Red's Barbershops South Charleston, Gresham Plumbing, South Charleston, Swamp Fox
- 21:35Speaker 6: Tavern Sissonville, Johnson Controls and PoCA O'reillatto Parks across Lane,
- 21:39Speaker 6: Smith's Grocery Store of Elfview. I know you had some
- 21:42Speaker 6: buy ins from some of the family dollar stores around
- 21:45Speaker 6: the area. Dunbar Across Lanes, Ganas City, Marmette, South Charleston.
- 21:48Speaker 6: Uh in Charleston. Uh so you just had a Dollar
- 21:52Speaker 6: General stores. You just had a lot of folks stepped
- 21:54Speaker 6: out here.
- 21:54Speaker 10: Yeah, a lot of them places have already been picked up.
- 21:57Speaker 10: This okay, Good Shepherd Veterinary Hospital, Canaul City, Bam Trucking, Charleston,
- 22:05Speaker 10: Dollar General in Glasgow. If there's a list on the
- 22:10Speaker 10: Facebook web page you can go to and you can
- 22:13Speaker 10: actually get the list of all ninety some locations that
- 22:17Speaker 10: we have, and there's telephone numbers for each location. If
- 22:20Speaker 10: you're wanting to donate still, you can call one of
- 22:23Speaker 10: them numbers that are on there and see if the
- 22:24Speaker 10: box has been picked up yet. If it's not, it'll
- 22:26Speaker 10: be picked up today. Or you can come to mar
- 22:30Speaker 10: between ten and twelve to Daniel Boom Park and drop
- 22:34Speaker 10: off a toy. We'll have enclosed trailers right now. The
- 22:38Speaker 10: toys will go in and they'll be taken down there.
- 22:41Speaker 10: The route every year is we leave Daniel Boom Park.
- 22:45Speaker 10: We're there at Daniel Boom Park between ten and twelve.
- 22:48Speaker 10: Right before we leave, we'll say prayer and then we'll
- 22:51Speaker 10: pull out, maybe about twelve, ten, twelve, fifteen. We come
- 22:54Speaker 10: straight down Pennsylvania or Pennsylvania No, that's the Bulevark. We'll
- 22:58Speaker 10: come straight down the boulevard you're in front of the
- 23:00Speaker 10: Capitol to Pennsylvania Avenue. That will make a right and
- 23:03Speaker 10: come to women's and children's if it's not something you've
- 23:06Speaker 10: seen before. If you got little kids and they like
- 23:10Speaker 10: motorcycles or what not. There's a lot of people that
- 23:15Speaker 10: sit on that boulevard in Pennsylvania Avenue just to watch and
- 23:18Speaker 10: just watch the bikes go by and wave at us.
- 23:22Speaker 10: It's being sick. Don't have no discrimination when them kids
- 23:27Speaker 10: are in the hospital. I mean, it sucks hearing them
- 23:29Speaker 10: kids and they're crying all the time because they don't
- 23:32Speaker 10: understand what's going on, and this is just something to
- 23:34Speaker 10: help them out.
- 23:34Speaker 6: What kind of toys are you asking for? I mean,
- 23:37Speaker 6: I know you pretty much take anything, but is there
- 23:40Speaker 6: a certain thing that you're looking for. I don't mean,
- 23:42Speaker 6: you know, just just what makes it easier for you
- 23:45Speaker 6: guys to deliver.
- 23:47Speaker 10: Anything new unwrapped. Infant to fifteen years of age. I
- 23:52Speaker 10: guess you could say women's children's I mean you can,
- 23:56Speaker 10: there's kids that come in that are seventeen eighteen years old.
- 24:00Speaker 10: But the majority of the people that will benefit from
- 24:03Speaker 10: this or on the peed's floor and stuff like that,
- 24:06Speaker 10: so infant to fifteen is what I've always said.
- 24:10Speaker 6: Okay, all right, and people can, as you said, if
- 24:12Speaker 6: they if they're not motorcycle riders but they want to,
- 24:15Speaker 6: they can. They can stop buny of those places today,
- 24:17Speaker 6: or they can just come out to the park.
- 24:18Speaker 10: To come out to the park tomorrow between ten and twelve.
- 24:22Speaker 10: I got a guy that dresses up to Santa. He's
- 24:24Speaker 10: done my Santa for eleven years, jim Bo Barr. He's
- 24:27Speaker 10: a great Santa claus Man for me. And then I
- 24:30Speaker 10: got Michael Moore, which is he goes by burnout and
- 24:35Speaker 10: he's been out all week long picking up boxes for me.
- 24:38Speaker 10: One thing is gonna work.
- 24:39Speaker 6: One thing about bikers is you won't find, in my opinion,
- 24:43Speaker 6: a group of people that have a bigger heart than
- 24:47Speaker 6: what bikers do. I mean because you folks are all
- 24:50Speaker 6: across this country are always doing things like this. And
- 24:53Speaker 6: I know Steve and I have at Steve Animal from
- 24:55Speaker 6: the Mountain Studio with me as well, and you know,
- 24:58Speaker 6: both of us are really big on veterans things. I
- 25:00Speaker 6: know Steve helps with the with the veterans, right. It's
- 25:02Speaker 6: one of the great things I love about the biker community.
- 25:05Speaker 6: You guys are always the first ones step. But if
- 25:07Speaker 6: there's a tragedy of flood, the sick kid, you know whatever,
- 25:10Speaker 6: you guys are the first ones to sign up and
- 25:13Speaker 6: say how can we help?
- 25:16Speaker 10: Even though we look like we do some of the
- 25:18Speaker 10: covered in tattoos, and well they've got radio people, people
- 25:23Speaker 10: were professional wrestlers or something all the above.
- 25:26Speaker 6: Let me ask you about it. Have a little fun
- 25:28Speaker 6: here before we go about the nickname thing. I mean,
- 25:30Speaker 6: how does one in the biker community acquire a nickname?
- 25:33Speaker 6: You can't name yourself, right, somebody's got to give you
- 25:35Speaker 6: the name, right.
- 25:36Speaker 10: Yeah, I've had a mohawk since gosh, I've had a
- 25:42Speaker 10: mohawk on and off since probably two thousand and four
- 25:44Speaker 10: because he's born with the mom Yeah, and it's just
- 25:49Speaker 10: something I've always had. So when I started writing, that
- 25:53Speaker 10: was the nickname. I have a mohawk.
- 25:55Speaker 5: All right.
- 25:56Speaker 6: So if Steve and I were to take up motorcycles,
- 25:59Speaker 6: look a look at Steve Animal, who's sitting over to
- 26:01Speaker 6: your left. What would Steve's nickname be? Well, I mean
- 26:04Speaker 6: we can call him gray Beard, gray Beard, gray Beard,
- 26:07Speaker 6: but he's already got that animal name. Yeah that's true.
- 26:10Speaker 6: Now actually animal is actually his real name. Uh so
- 26:13Speaker 6: so what so what would mine be?
- 26:15Speaker 3: Be?
- 26:16Speaker 5: Nice?
- 26:16Speaker 10: Okay? What giggles?
- 26:19Speaker 5: All right?
- 26:19Speaker 6: What do you think that way we can get her talking?
- 26:21Speaker 6: Because I've never really had a nickname.
- 26:24Speaker 5: All right, what do you like to do?
- 26:27Speaker 7: Uh?
- 26:27Speaker 5: Eat?
- 26:30Speaker 6: Eat a big sports fan. You know that's uh, that's
- 26:33Speaker 6: that kind of thing.
- 26:35Speaker 5: Snacks, snacks, snacks, all right, you got that. If you
- 26:39Speaker 5: got that. Gray Beard so so coming coming soon to
- 26:45Speaker 5: uh to.
- 26:46Speaker 6: One of these events will be appearanced by gray Beard
- 26:48Speaker 6: and Snacks, I see it. Hey, guys, before we let
- 26:52Speaker 6: you go, give us all the details again. The ride
- 26:54Speaker 6: is going to be tomorrow. You start at at ten
- 26:58Speaker 6: am a. You're collecting these toys for Women's and Children's.
- 27:01Speaker 6: Give us all the details again.
- 27:03Speaker 10: We'll be at Daniel Boom Park in the morning from
- 27:05Speaker 10: ten am to twelve am twelve pm. We'll say prayer
- 27:09Speaker 10: right before we leave, and then we'll get on the
- 27:11Speaker 10: bikes and ride down the boulevard to Pennsylvania Avenue and
- 27:14Speaker 10: the toys will be dropped off at Women's Children's through
- 27:17Speaker 10: the loop. All that is required to participate is one
- 27:21Speaker 10: unwrapped new toy per person on the bike.
- 27:24Speaker 5: So yeah, that's something we didn't bring out. If the
- 27:26Speaker 5: biker wants to do this, they have they have to.
- 27:29Speaker 5: That's their entry fee.
- 27:30Speaker 10: Entry fee is one new unwrapped toy. If you have
- 27:33Speaker 10: two people on a bike, that's two two toys. Yep.
- 27:38Speaker 10: And if if you if you want to donate today,
- 27:44Speaker 10: you can contact me at three zero four three eight
- 27:47Speaker 10: nine eight five zero nine. I can meet with you,
- 27:50Speaker 10: or I can let you know what donations or what
- 27:53Speaker 10: places have not been picked up yet. Also, I'll be
- 27:56Speaker 10: out today, me and Giggles over there. We'll be out
- 27:59Speaker 10: today to finishing picking up boxes today and go from there.
- 28:03Speaker 6: All right, sounds good, and bikers can still what's the
- 28:06Speaker 6: what's what's the process for bikers to sign if they
- 28:08Speaker 6: just show up or just show up? Okay, just show
- 28:12Speaker 6: up with a new unwrapped toy and you're in and
- 28:15Speaker 6: that's it. We'll start there between ten and twelve. Like
- 28:18Speaker 6: I said, show up if you don't want to ride
- 28:21Speaker 6: your bike, if you're from a long distance or something
- 28:23Speaker 6: like that.
- 28:23Speaker 10: Ohio, Kentucky. I've had people from Indiana come in Charleston
- 28:28Speaker 10: Moose parking lot. They've always allowed us to use their
- 28:30Speaker 10: parking lot. You can always trailer your motorcycle and park
- 28:32Speaker 10: your trailer and vehicle there, and then Daniel Boom parks
- 28:35Speaker 10: right next door. The whole ride ain't but two and
- 28:37Speaker 10: a half miles long to the hospital and two and
- 28:40Speaker 10: a half miles back. Like I said, earlier on the
- 28:43Speaker 10: show with Animal there, suck it up. I mean, it's
- 28:47Speaker 10: the one time of the year you're going to ride
- 28:49Speaker 10: in cold weather. Maybe suck it up and deal with it.
- 28:52Speaker 10: These kids are in the hospital, they have no choice
- 28:54Speaker 10: to put it be in there.
- 28:55Speaker 6: They're dealing with the things that most of them are
- 28:58Speaker 6: dealing with, things a lot more important or a lot difficult,
- 29:00Speaker 6: a lot more difficult than cold Yes, so Animal, what
- 29:03Speaker 6: do you want?
- 29:03Speaker 12: And I was gonna say, traveling last year, it's amazing
- 29:07Speaker 12: to see the kids pressed up against the window and
- 29:09Speaker 12: hundreds of motorcycles are pulling into the hospital. So it's
- 29:12Speaker 12: really something to be seen.
- 29:14Speaker 10: So that's awesome for that the kids. The kids look
- 29:17Speaker 10: forward to it. I mean, come by, as come by
- 29:22Speaker 10: and come down. It's the only thing I can tell you.
- 29:24Speaker 10: And if it's something you can't make to the hospital,
- 29:27Speaker 10: you get a lot of people that pork down there,
- 29:29Speaker 10: Shoney's on the boulevard and all up and down the
- 29:30Speaker 10: boulevard just to watch the bikes go by. It's actually
- 29:34Speaker 10: it's a real amazing thing.
- 29:35Speaker 6: All right, appreciate you being here. Giggles and Mohawk on
- 29:40Speaker 6: behalf of gray Beard and Snacks we we we appreciate,
- 29:43Speaker 6: We appreciate you being here, guys, and God bless you
- 29:46Speaker 6: for what you're doing out there.
- 29:47Speaker 5: Thanks a lot, Thanks a lot.

- 32:59Speaker 6: Presidents Trump and ma go along with Republicans suspending the
- 33:01Speaker 6: debt limit till twenty twenty seven. I guess people didn't
- 33:05Speaker 6: vote Trump for physical conservatism, also want Republicans afraid of
- 33:08Speaker 6: unelected people running the government. Isn't that what Musk is doing?
- 33:13Speaker 6: Says a Texter Texas. December fifteenth was the anniversary of
- 33:16Speaker 6: the Silver Bridge collapse. The collapse caused the creation of
- 33:19Speaker 6: the federally mandated inspection program. I would like to recognize

- 33:28Speaker 5: Texas.
- 33:29Speaker 6: Is that snacks or snacks? Your public wants to know?
- 33:33Speaker 6: They said snacks as an s in ACKs or s
- 33:36Speaker 6: in a X. And Kevin and Morgan Morrison from the
- 33:40Speaker 6: Downtown Charleston Association here, Kevin Madison and Morgan Morrison. You're
- 33:44Speaker 6: probably wondering what in the hell are they talking about,
- 33:47Speaker 6: So so let me let me set this up for you,
- 33:51Speaker 6: just so you guys will know. Our last guests in
- 33:54Speaker 6: here are doing their toy ride tomorrow for Women's and
- 33:57Speaker 6: Children's CAMC and they were explaining to me about motorcyclists
- 34:04Speaker 6: and their nicknames. I had Mohawk and Giggles on the show.
- 34:08Speaker 6: And I asked them, because animal is in here to
- 34:11Speaker 6: Steve Animal, I said, if we were to give because
- 34:14Speaker 6: you can't give yourself a nickname, because mine would be like,
- 34:17Speaker 6: you know, king or something. Apparently there's a joke here.
- 34:20Speaker 6: I don't know what that is, but but but anyway, okay,
- 34:22Speaker 6: So I asked them what our nicknames would be, and
- 34:25Speaker 6: we decided that animals would be Graybeard. Uh that's what
- 34:30Speaker 6: they named him and me. They said what do I like?
- 34:32Speaker 6: And people that know me know, first thing I said
- 34:35Speaker 6: was food.
- 34:36Speaker 5: So my name, my my motorcycle nickname is now snacks.
- 34:39Speaker 3: Okay, and that kind of has an edge to it.
- 34:42Speaker 10: I like it.
- 34:43Speaker 6: It doesn't have an edge to it. But the thing
- 34:46Speaker 6: about it is, I'm not a big snack person. I mean,
- 34:48Speaker 6: you should call me steak or call me you know,
- 34:50Speaker 6: because I'm fil a Bobby Bobby spry Is is brought
- 34:56Speaker 6: you guys in here, and Bobby and I share an office.
- 34:59Speaker 6: I do not want her, do not give her the
- 35:02Speaker 6: permission to ever ever give me a nickname. All right,
- 35:06Speaker 6: just so you know you cannot call me. Hey, guys,
- 35:08Speaker 6: how are we doing. We're all caught up.
- 35:09Speaker 12: Now, good, We're good at Morgan.
- 35:12Speaker 11: You, I know you can't see how we look here
- 35:14Speaker 11: on the radio, But Morgan, I've.
- 35:15Speaker 3: Got a fit for the radio this morning.
- 35:18Speaker 6: Let me let me before we get to while you're here,
- 35:21Speaker 6: congratulations you're doing the dancing.
- 35:22Speaker 5: With the stars.
- 35:23Speaker 3: I sure, I am.
- 35:24Speaker 6: Yeah, sure, you and Evan Osborne for Capital Market. I mean,
- 35:29Speaker 6: you guys are going. And I saw some of the
- 35:30Speaker 6: pictures posted online. Uh, you're gonna rock this.
- 35:35Speaker 3: Thing, Dave, I said, as hell, can't dance, So I
- 35:37Speaker 3: just help my personality to make people life and fundraising
- 35:40Speaker 3: skills wins this thing for us.
- 35:42Speaker 6: Well so, and I told her, because Morgan and I
- 35:44Speaker 6: are from the same hometown, I said, you know how
- 35:48Speaker 6: we handle things l A style.
- 35:49Speaker 5: If we don't win, and I'm just gonna leave it
- 35:52Speaker 5: at that. I'm gonna leave it at that. Other businesses know.
- 35:56Speaker 3: Just no, we don't compete, David.
- 35:58Speaker 7: We don't.
- 35:58Speaker 5: We don't compete.
- 35:59Speaker 10: We went in out.
- 36:00Speaker 5: That's the way we do things down there. All right.
- 36:01Speaker 6: So you guys are here to talk about the Santa
- 36:04Speaker 6: Crawl tomorrow, Kevin Morgan, get to it, well.
- 36:07Speaker 3: I mean the Santa Crawls tomorrow Saturday. We're doing the
- 36:11Speaker 3: registration at six. A lot of people don't know what
- 36:13Speaker 3: Santa Cral is. Santa Cral is actually kind of inspired
- 36:16Speaker 3: by Santakon and New York. I don't anybody. I used
- 36:19Speaker 3: to always go to New York every year in December
- 36:21Speaker 3: and always ended up there during Santakon, and you just
- 36:24Speaker 3: remember the first year being like, why are their Santa
- 36:26Speaker 3: Clauses everywhere? And seriously, I mean I'm not exaggerating. There
- 36:30Speaker 3: are Santas everywhere and it's basically one giant crawl of
- 36:35Speaker 3: Santa clauses. So you know, we're encouraging everybody to get
- 36:39Speaker 3: their best version of a Santa suit ready. Every bar, restaurant,
- 36:43Speaker 3: pretty much downtown is participating. The wrist bands are only
- 36:46Speaker 3: fifteen dollars and it gets you no cover into anywhere
- 36:50Speaker 3: and exclusive drink deals for Santas, so it's gonna be
- 36:53Speaker 3: really fun. I love it.
- 36:55Speaker 6: I love the fact we have exclusive drink deals for Santa's.
- 36:59Speaker 3: He deserves it. He deserves everybody's Santa.
- 37:01Speaker 6: During Everybody's saying there's only one Santa, but these are
- 37:03Speaker 6: all dressed to sand. We want to make sure that
- 37:05Speaker 6: people realize that. Are you sure, Yes, yes, there's only one.
- 37:09Speaker 6: There's only one, but these folks are are are carrying
- 37:12Speaker 6: on the spirit of Santa. How did this whole idea
- 37:14Speaker 6: come about? I mean, I know you said it came
- 37:15Speaker 6: from New York, but I mean it's one thing to
- 37:17Speaker 6: have it there and to try to bring it here.
- 37:18Speaker 6: Who's crazy idea was to do that here in Charleston.
- 37:21Speaker 10: I'll give you. I'll give you one guess, will you
- 37:23Speaker 10: one guess?
- 37:24Speaker 3: The only adhd squirrel in the room who just has
- 37:28Speaker 3: random ideas at three am and calls Kevin for permission
- 37:30Speaker 3: at six.
- 37:32Speaker 5: Who we call her?
- 37:33Speaker 11: Nickname is Roxy by the way, during Holly Jolly Brawley. Yeah,
- 37:36Speaker 11: and apparently I've been named Hazel.
- 37:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:40Speaker 5: I'm sure there's Christmas.
- 37:42Speaker 11: There's a story there too.
- 37:43Speaker 6: We probably don't want to know because I try to.
- 37:45Speaker 5: Keep this show. Pg. Thirteen. So how long is this?
- 37:48Speaker 5: How long have you been doing this? This is the
- 37:50Speaker 5: first year?
- 37:50Speaker 11: First year, that's the first year, you know, downtown Charleston,
- 37:54Speaker 11: is it?
- 37:54Speaker 9: Is it?
- 37:54Speaker 11: Christmas Vibe?
- 37:56Speaker 10: Right? Yeah?
- 37:57Speaker 11: And you know with the you KNOWDA being in place
- 38:01Speaker 11: here in Charleston. Uh, you know, kudos to Mayor Goodwin
- 38:05Speaker 11: and her administration staff a city council for you know,
- 38:09Speaker 11: allowing Charleston to have PODA. It's I mean it's changed
- 38:12Speaker 11: the game.
- 38:13Speaker 5: I mean, uh, you know.
- 38:14Speaker 6: We can have some of those who don't know explain
- 38:16Speaker 6: what PODA is. Owners downtowns explain what Potada.
- 38:21Speaker 11: It's basically, we call it the Capital City Sip and Stroll.
- 38:26Speaker 11: So you can purchase an alcoholic beverage at several locations
- 38:29Speaker 11: throughout downtown in the PODA footprint. And if there's a
- 38:33Speaker 11: green sticker on the door, you can bring your beverage
- 38:37Speaker 11: in and shop downtown like you know Purple Moon or.
- 38:42Speaker 10: Art and Porium.
- 38:43Speaker 11: If there's a black sticker on the door, that means
- 38:47Speaker 11: we sell you those alcoholic beverages, then you can come
- 38:50Speaker 11: in and all that stuff and buy one. There's a
- 38:53Speaker 11: couple of businesses that have a red sticker on the
- 38:55Speaker 11: doors like hey, we we would prefer that you didn't
- 38:57Speaker 11: bring that. And that's the real qu vie. And you know,
- 39:02Speaker 11: the program has been amazing. I know it's helped you know,
- 39:05Speaker 11: on I can say on Summer Street at Black Sheep
- 39:08Speaker 11: and five Street and short Story. I mean, it's definitely
- 39:12Speaker 11: you know, added to the bottom line. It's a great program.
- 39:15Speaker 11: Everyone's done a great job being really well behaved with it,
- 39:20Speaker 11: and you know, because of that, we can have these
- 39:22Speaker 11: awesome events like the Pub Crawl we had in October
- 39:25Speaker 11: and then now we're doing the Santa Crawl.
- 39:26Speaker 3: So yeah, yeah, and you know we always talk about
- 39:29Speaker 3: you know, we put all this work into Holly Jolly Brawley.
- 39:31Speaker 3: The decorations are great, Downtown has packed for the remainder
- 39:34Speaker 3: of the year, but it's like all this hype and
- 39:35Speaker 3: then we just have two days of something to celebrate
- 39:39Speaker 3: you know, actually going on. So by adding the Santa Crawl,
- 39:42Speaker 3: it's something we've kind of tossed around for the last
- 39:44Speaker 3: couple of years. The timing just didn't feel right. We
- 39:46Speaker 3: were we were two packed. So this year it really
- 39:48Speaker 3: felt like the right time to roll it out and
- 39:50Speaker 3: we hope that it's successful. We hope it's something that
- 39:52Speaker 3: can become a tradition, just like everything else we do.
- 39:55Speaker 3: We saw really good turnout for Bralloween, which we did
- 39:57Speaker 3: in October, and the you know, like Kevin said, it's
- 40:00Speaker 3: all about supporting businesses, supporting the bar, not just the bars,
- 40:03Speaker 3: but the businesses. When people come downtown at six, they're
- 40:06Speaker 3: going to eight, they're going to stop at a shop
- 40:08Speaker 3: they see, So it really just helps everyone and it
- 40:11Speaker 3: creates fun memories downtown, which is really just what we
- 40:13Speaker 3: both want. So we're excited to do this. And it's
- 40:16Speaker 3: my thirtieth birthday, oh tomorrow, A better way to celebrate.
- 40:19Speaker 5: It's all this is for you.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Yeah, pretty much.
- 40:24Speaker 5: That's exactly right, Dave.
- 40:25Speaker 11: I'm just here for support.
- 40:27Speaker 6: That's exactly right. I want to talk about though, Let's
- 40:30Speaker 6: talk about the whole holly jolly, browdy thing. I mean,
- 40:32Speaker 6: you had the you know, the big events, you know,
- 40:35Speaker 6: the Black Friday in the day after, but the trees
- 40:38Speaker 6: are still there, things are continuing.
- 40:39Speaker 5: It's just been awesome.
- 40:40Speaker 11: Yeah, it looks it looks incredible. I have to say,
- 40:44Speaker 11: I think this year has been my top favorite. It
- 40:49Speaker 11: looks amazing. Weather's been pretty good. The trees do stay up,
- 40:54Speaker 11: you know, to the first of the year. And then
- 40:56Speaker 11: those of you don't know, you know, we'd had the
- 40:58Speaker 11: voting on the twenty nine and thirtieth of November and
- 41:02Speaker 11: astorg Auto was first place.
- 41:05Speaker 3: Counseling Nook was second.
- 41:07Speaker 11: Yeah, and then the West Virginia Kids Cancer Crusaders or third.
- 41:12Speaker 5: But these people stepped up their Did.
- 41:14Speaker 3: You see Asto's tree. They had a whole Mercedes at
- 41:18Speaker 3: the base of theirs. They deserved first place. So shout
- 41:21Speaker 3: out to John Brown. He was so tore up last year.
- 41:24Speaker 3: He's like, I'm gonna come back and I'm gonna win.
- 41:26Speaker 3: I was like, you will, John, I have faith and
- 41:27Speaker 3: look at him. He did not disapoint. Honestly, none of
- 41:30Speaker 3: the trees disappointed this year because you know, yeah, we
- 41:33Speaker 3: hang lights, we do the light show, we do the
- 41:35Speaker 3: little snowflakes. But it's up to the tree sponsors to
- 41:39Speaker 3: make college jolly, probably magical because the majority of the
- 41:42Speaker 3: decorations are the trees, and these are things that people
- 41:45Speaker 3: pay out of pocket. They decorate themselves. We just give
- 41:48Speaker 3: them a tree in a stand and they do it all.
- 41:50Speaker 3: So it's really a community effort to give that magical feeling.
- 41:53Speaker 3: And they truly went above and beyond, like TC Energy's tree.
- 41:57Speaker 3: Their topper is a three D replica of the TC
- 42:00Speaker 3: Energy building as the uphouse. I mean, all these like
- 42:03Speaker 3: custom elements. It just makes it incredible. So it's really
- 42:07Speaker 3: cool to see everybody put pretty much just as much
- 42:09Speaker 3: effort as we do into it.
- 42:11Speaker 6: But a valance showing five any line presented in partner

- 42:24Speaker 6: give you, folks, both of you, of course, are owners
- 42:27Speaker 6: of businesses in charl are part of businesses in Charleston.
- 42:30Speaker 6: I want to give you an opportunity to just invite people.
- 42:34Speaker 6: I know, this is the last weekend before Christmas. You
- 42:38Speaker 6: got you know today tomorrow, Sunday, you get the event
- 42:41Speaker 6: going on tomorrow, but Monday and there'll be you know.
- 42:44Speaker 5: Some things on Tuesday.
- 42:46Speaker 6: A final thank you, a final invitation to come to
- 42:49Speaker 6: downtown Charleston, either one of you, Kevin or Morgan, either
- 42:52Speaker 6: Morgan of Rock City and Kevin and blacks Few either one.
- 42:56Speaker 5: I'll go ahead.
- 42:56Speaker 11: I mean, you know, it's this is this is the
- 42:59Speaker 11: time of the year to give back to these local businesses,
- 43:03Speaker 11: you know, and for some it's been it's you know,
- 43:05Speaker 11: it's been tough for some. For some it's not. You know,
- 43:08Speaker 11: business has been good, but yeah, I mean it's we'd
- 43:13Speaker 11: love your support this time of the year. I mean,
- 43:15Speaker 11: these are the same businesses that are supporting you know,
- 43:17Speaker 11: school events and sports teams throughout the year. And you've
- 43:22Speaker 11: got hardworking people at all of these different restaurants and
- 43:25Speaker 11: you know establishments. You know, the increased business.
- 43:29Speaker 7: You know it.
- 43:29Speaker 11: You know it pays their bills and it you know,
- 43:31Speaker 11: it helps them have a great holiday season. Retailers, I
- 43:35Speaker 11: mean everybody, it's yeah.
- 43:37Speaker 3: It's also you know, Matt Sutton made an amazing post
- 43:40Speaker 3: a few weeks ago on Facebook. I know we all
- 43:43Speaker 3: see it on Facebook talking about how them all is dead,
- 43:46Speaker 3: how Charleston just isn't what it used to be during Christmas.
- 43:49Speaker 3: And that may be the case, but you know, if
- 43:51Speaker 3: you go one block over, it can be shoulder to
- 43:54Speaker 3: shoulder some weekends, and you have an entire community banning
- 43:58Speaker 3: together to make Charleston and beautiful during Christmas. And we
- 44:02Speaker 3: have the Holly Jolly Browley trolley which takes you straight
- 44:05Speaker 3: to light the night to Capital Market. Charleston is still
- 44:08Speaker 3: amazing during Christmas. It's getting better and better every year,
- 44:11Speaker 3: and there's literally thousands of people coming down here every weekend,
- 44:16Speaker 3: and so we just really want to give the message
- 44:18Speaker 3: out to invite everyone who may not be familiar with
- 44:20Speaker 3: downtown Charleston, and you may only know the town Center,
- 44:23Speaker 3: go one two blocks over and you're gonna be amazed
- 44:27Speaker 3: at the businesses and the decorations and everything, and it's
- 44:30Speaker 3: shops local. It's different, but it's still good.
- 44:33Speaker 11: Well yeah, I mean, if they got off their chair
- 44:35Speaker 11: behind their computer, you know, and stop being an Internet
- 44:38Speaker 11: troll and making comments like that, that was a positive Christmas.
- 44:43Speaker 5: Positive but well it's easy. Look, it's easy. It's easy
- 44:46Speaker 5: to take out the bad things. But you know, I agree,
- 44:49Speaker 5: but there's way more.
- 44:51Speaker 11: Positive things happening in Charleston than there are negative things,
- 44:54Speaker 11: and I wish people would just get on that.
- 44:56Speaker 3: And there are Internet trolls, but I truly think. I mean,
- 45:00Speaker 3: I'm from Logan County, Dave. My family knows how to
- 45:02Speaker 3: get to Walmart in South rich and they know how
- 45:06Speaker 3: to get to the mall and maybe the Civic Center.
- 45:08Speaker 3: They're not familiar with downtown. They don't know that Capitol
- 45:12Speaker 3: Street exists or Summer Street. And we may not realize
- 45:14Speaker 3: it because we're so immersed in downtown. But a lot
- 45:17Speaker 3: I mean thirty minutes either direction couldn't tell you anything
- 45:20Speaker 3: about downtown. It feels like New York City to them.
- 45:22Speaker 3: So it's important for us to get the message out
- 45:25Speaker 3: to them, let them know we exist. One way is
- 45:28Speaker 3: maybe a little scary, but I promise it's not that bad,
- 45:31Speaker 3: and you're not gonna get mugged. As soon as you
- 45:33Speaker 3: get out of your car. It's safe. There's a lot
- 45:35Speaker 3: of really friendly faces and we want them to come
- 45:38Speaker 3: down here and experience that. And I can speak firsthand.
- 45:41Speaker 3: I know a lot of people from Logan County who
- 45:42Speaker 3: this was their first time downtown. During Holly Jolly Brawley
- 45:46Speaker 3: this year, they had family photos made, they ate an
- 45:48Speaker 3: Iglooz and this was like a big step for them
- 45:51Speaker 3: because this was out of their comfort zone, this was
- 45:53Speaker 3: out of their element. They all left with a really
- 45:55Speaker 3: good impression of Charleston in their head. So that is
- 45:57Speaker 3: what we want, yea. And the only way you can
- 46:00Speaker 3: drown out that negative is just by pushing more positive
- 46:03Speaker 3: people's throats. And that's what we're.
- 46:04Speaker 6: Here, pushing positive down people's trying to get it whether
- 46:07Speaker 6: you want.
- 46:08Speaker 5: I think I like that.
- 46:09Speaker 6: And Bobby is uh, you know this one of our
- 46:12Speaker 6: sales weasels who's in the studio this morning. I think
- 46:15Speaker 6: you should put that down as their marketing now for
- 46:17Speaker 6: Downtown Charleston Association, Pushing pushing positive.
- 46:20Speaker 5: Whether you want it or not. How's that? That's I guess.
- 46:23Speaker 5: Give us the details again about the Santa Crawl.
- 46:25Speaker 3: Santa Crawl registration starts at Black Sheep on the Summer
- 46:29Speaker 3: Street party side. You'll see somebody out there in Santa,
- 46:32Speaker 3: whether it's me or I make Clayton. I'm not sure
- 46:34Speaker 3: the time start registering at six o'clock, but the pub crawl,
- 46:40Speaker 3: I mean it goes on all night basically six six.
- 46:45Speaker 6: All right, Well, guys, if probably won't have you in
- 46:47Speaker 6: before Christmas. So thank you and God bless you for
- 46:49Speaker 6: what you folks and so many others do uh for
- 46:53Speaker 6: for not only because these things we talk about Downtown Charleston,
- 46:58Speaker 6: but when you couldn't do it, which is Charles. I mean,
- 47:00Speaker 6: these people that are coming to these things are coming,
- 47:03Speaker 6: as you said, from southern West Virginia. They're coming from
- 47:05Speaker 6: South Charleston, Saint Albans Day's Valley. They're coming in to
- 47:08Speaker 6: take these things in and I'm.
- 47:10Speaker 11: From Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan. I mean we you know,
- 47:13Speaker 11: in the restaurant, you see you know there's families traveling.
- 47:16Speaker 11: I mean it's incredible.
- 47:17Speaker 10: They love it.
- 47:18Speaker 5: All right.
- 47:18Speaker 6: I appreciate you both being here and have a very
- 47:21Speaker 6: very happy holiday season. By the way, on Tuesday programming note,
- 47:25Speaker 6: on Christmas eve Day, we will be doing our annual
- 47:27Speaker 6: Jewish Christmas Spectacular h with Mike Pushkin who comes in.
- 47:32Speaker 6: We don't talk politics. I tell him you need to
