Transcript
- 0:03[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome to The Offices, a show covering the mighty Gulf, the NFL, pop culture, drinking culture and of course.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_02]: I show you how you're your host, Alphar Tia, in myself.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: And we're on, this is The Offices with Myself, Alphar Tiaga, and Marick Brave, how are you, Marick?
- 0:25[SPEAKER_01]: Can you guess what episode this is in the history of this show?
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: No, the episode number 50, yes, we are the 50th show.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: We've made it to 50 shows of the offseason with Merrick.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, and Alf.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_01]: You know, a lot of wrestling has happened since then.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, lots of wrestling all the time.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's three seasons, but we're going to talk a little dolphins, OTAs.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_01]: But wait, have you been watching the Stanley Cup for the you watch?
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's only been one game.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: Did you see the first game of the Stanley Cup finals, Carolina and Vegas?
- 1:07[SPEAKER_02]: I did not watch that.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_02]: I watched a little bit of spurs nicks, been watching plenty of baseball, but I did not watch the NHL finals because the Panthers aren't in it.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: Well that thing was awesome.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_01]: That thing was great.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: Like game one was awesome.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_01]: And then I thought the NBA went up them.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: Last night I thought that was a great basketball game as well.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: So both finals are
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: uh, the dolphins.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: What are you getting out of all of these halfly availability this week?
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: Because he's doing one a day.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: And we've been up and down with some of these guys, like there is no no depth chart to talk about, right?
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: But you could hear like the whispers, are you concerned with all the whispers about how Malik Willis is actually not looking all that
- 2:01[SPEAKER_02]: Not yet, you know, in a couple months when we get to August, if he's still not looking sharp, then you got to wonder what the problem is and and there's a lot that goes into a quarterback looking good at practice right you know what are they asking him to do we don't even know what
- 2:17[SPEAKER_02]: What the what the goal for the day is you know what I mean it might be hey We don't want you to check down today.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_02]: We want you to try and hit some of these guys deep or hey We want you to check down all the time today.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_02]: We need to get these running backs We need to get them catch in some short passes and see what they can do with their hands.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_02]: You know We don't know.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_02]: We're not there.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_02]: We're not we're not with the coaches as they're coming up with the plan for the day so
- 2:43[SPEAKER_02]: June 4th.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not concerned.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_02]: A couple months maybe I will be concerned.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_02]: But either way, either Malik Willis is good and hey, that's awesome.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_02]: We've skipped a couple steps of a rebuild and and we can move forward with him or Malik Willis was a waste of time.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_02]: He's no good and he leads the dolphins to
- 3:01[SPEAKER_02]: a shitty record and then they take a quarterback to replace it, you know, so I think there's a silver lining to both outcomes.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, I'd prefer the team to just be good and Malek will is to be the guy because I'm tired of this QB carousel ever since Marino retired a quarter century ago.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_02]: But on June 4th, am I concerned?
- 3:22[SPEAKER_02]: Not really.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_02]: No, how about you?
- 3:25[SPEAKER_01]: No, I just, you know, I would like to hear that he's taking control of the offense because I think what's happening here is that he probably doesn't have a full grasp of the scheme, you know, and Bobby Slugk was here last year.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_01]: So when yours should have a pretty good grasp of the scheme, but you got to read between the lines, okay, like all the reports we're getting are from media that are watching a portion of practice.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what word to use here, but he's like insinuating that there's not many team portions as in it's hard to evaluate these guys because they're really not hitting, especially offensive line, right?
- 4:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_01]: I'm putting next to no stock in this stuff until I get to see it with my own eyes.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: And if he looks terrible when I see him with my own eyes, then damn.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: I guess he's terrible, you know.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: You'll let us know.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_02]: You hear some conflicting reports as well.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_02]: You know Travis Wingfields out here.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_02]: Now he works for the team.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, but friend of the network here,
- 4:34[SPEAKER_02]: He says he looks fine.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_02]: He says Malik Willis looks all right.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_02]: He says he looks impressive even at times.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, a glass half full or glass half empty.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_02]: That's kind of where we're at here.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's, you know, the thing is that none of the, nobody's, you know, giving him glowing reviews so far.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: And you kind of want to hear some of that stuff.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: Other than him, I guess we're learning a little bit about a few players.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan Phillips seems to be a, a teacher's pet.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_01]: We learned that chop Robinson's going to play heavier.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to play at 265 pounds.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully it's functional and it doesn't mean that he just ate a few more cheeseburgers is off season.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_01]: But what do you make of that?
- 5:20[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to go under a transformation in his body.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_01]: Now, you know a little bit a little something about this because in wrestling, you could actually lose a little bit of weight and gain speed, right?
- 5:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: But you could gain weight and protect your core a bit a little bit.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know which way I'm leaning here because Chop Robinson, if you've seen Green Bay play football before, all these defensive football under Jeff Haffley, Chop Robinson fills a role that they have in their defense, rushing wide nine.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: I would say you would want that guy to be as light as possible, so you could be as fast as possible.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: But now he's a little bit heavier.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_01]: So I really don't know which way to feel in here.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how to.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: And I've always liked and and I was told that this is no longer the case.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I was always told and I was felt that the front office and the coaching staff would coordinate with players as far as any changes they were going to make with their bodies.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_01]: But in the truth of our lower experience, we learned that no such thing players actually do what they want with their bodies.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_01]: They lose weight, they gain weight, they put on muscle, they take off muscle.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_01]: So which way are you leaning on this?
- 6:39[SPEAKER_01]: Is this a good thing or not?
- 6:43[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I suppose it just depends on on what you want Chopper Robinson to be doing, right?
- 6:49[SPEAKER_02]: If he is that widenine Russia, I don't need him putting on weight to do that.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_02]: He's just going to slow him down.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_02]: But if you're trying to get him to be a stronger edge setter to defend against the run, putting on a little extra pound and being a little more stout on the edge,
- 7:04[SPEAKER_02]: that's obviously going to be beneficial for him.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_02]: So what does Jeff Hathley, what does he envision Robinson's role on this team be?
- 7:14[SPEAKER_02]: Did he see Robinson's kind of lackluster year last year and go, okay, this guy's not going to be my, my wide-nine rushery.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_02]: He's not going to be my QB hunter, you know what I mean, if we can get him
- 7:28[SPEAKER_02]: thickened up.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe he sets the edge a little bit better.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not quite sure, you know, like you said, is this a chopper Robinson decision?
- 7:36[SPEAKER_02]: Is this a team decision?
- 7:37[SPEAKER_02]: Was there some influence there?
- 7:40[SPEAKER_02]: Again, it's early.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_02]: It's June.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_02]: He has time to learn his new body and hopefully it pays dividends when the season starts.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_02]: But
- 7:50[SPEAKER_02]: it is always one of those things where you do start to wonder, especially when a player's game is predicated on speed, you do wonder, okay, why are you booking up now?
- 7:59[SPEAKER_02]: What happened now?
- 8:01[SPEAKER_02]: Why are you doing this now?
- 8:03[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he's not the only one.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_02]: HN reportedly bulked up a little bit this off season as well.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_02]: fastest guy on the team.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_02]: So maybe this is just this new leadership staff.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe this is their MO.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_02]: They say we we've kind of already heard it from Johnny or Solomon, right?
- 8:21[SPEAKER_02]: Slow gets fast, big doesn't get small.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_02]: So maybe he just wants his dudes to be big all around every position.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_01]: Now, other than that, what have we learned really this week?
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: Sawyer went down and we saw the D.T.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: Campbell snapped into action.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: That was the 200th make in the NFL draft.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_01]: So that tells you something about what they think about their draft mix that they're putting in a draft pick as the first man off the bench after your swing tackles, swing guard gets injured.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: it turns out he's going to be okay he's just out for a couple of weeks and we don't play anybody in a couple of weeks so so we should be good in that regard anything else you learn from all the availability this week because obviously we're not watching practice
- 9:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, I mean, once again, you can reiterate Jeff Haffley such a better communicator in my opinion than Mike Bigtando, right?
- 9:13[SPEAKER_02]: Jeff Haffley, he'll sprinkle in a joke here or there, right?
- 9:16[SPEAKER_02]: Like he's not, he's not just a completely monotone guy.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_02]: He's got a good sense of humor, but he doesn't make that his entire press conference, right?
- 9:23[SPEAKER_02]: He's not using it as a way to practice his stand-up routine.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_02]: He communicates well.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_02]: He communicates efficiently.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_02]: And I hope that he's doing the same with his team.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_02]: I have no doubt that he's doing the same with his team.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_02]: And he feels like a coach that these young men can respect and they can play for.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_02]: And he can light a fire under some asses.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_02]: Is it going to lead to a successful team in 2026?
- 9:51[SPEAKER_02]: Probably not, but hey, maybe they surprise some people and they get a couple extra wins that we weren't predicting before the season started and if that happens then you can feel good about where this team is headed in regards to the coach, the general manager and hopefully the quarterback as well if everything works out.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: All right, we're gonna go to break now when we come back when we talk a little a few things wrestling although both of us missed on a homework assignment That we should have been on like we should build a team some triple A wrestling, but we promise I promise you we will watch some triple A wrestling.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_01]: I will I will force married brave to watch a bit of that double or nothing Show from From a couple of weeks ago, so we could give you some honest critiques of these matches, but first let me tell you about Underdog
- 10:40[SPEAKER_01]: Underdog fantasy is back.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: There's a thief in these finals.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_01]: And it was Josh Hart yesterday, by the way.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody who's been quietly locking up all series long, you've got a hunch on who it is.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: Underdog's got $1 million for whoever calls it right.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: One million is sitting in a pot.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: All you have to do is pick the player who walks away with the most steals in the series.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_01]: Your picks don't even need to win.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_01]: Just back the right beef.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_01]: because you can make picks and win money right now.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_01]: The pot is waiting.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: Pick your player every game and include their steals that.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: Stereo series ends, steals leader crowned.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_01]: Pot gets split among everyone who called it.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_01]: Simple as that.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_01]: If you picked Josh Hart, you'd be in the lead as of right now.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_01]: The more final games, the final games that you back them, the bigger your share.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's less a prediction and more a vibe.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_01]: Just trust yours.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_01]: I think I think there is no vibe here.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I picked O.J.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_01]: O'Neobie over to start the series.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: Look, there's no Viper here.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: Just take Josh Hart in every single game and you're going to be okay.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_01]: He's probably going to leave this series in steals.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_01]: He's really, really involved defensively.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_01]: And I wouldn't put it past them to
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: be the steel leader in every single game going forward, which would of course make them the steel leader for the rest of the series.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_01]: So if you got Josh Hart just keep riding him, you're gonna be okay.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: So download the app today and use the promo code three yards to score $50 and bonus entries when you play your first $5.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_01]: That's the promo code, three yards, the number three yards.

- 12:45[SPEAKER_01]: And we're back.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_01]: I forgot I didn't have my TV on behind me, so I had to put it on there for a second.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't know who El Grande Americano OG is.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_01]: Isn't it lubricizer?
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: Is that isn't that who that is?
- 13:06[SPEAKER_02]: Well, the original Grande Americano is Chad Gable.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_02]: The new Grande Americano is Ludwig Kaiser.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so So this might just be really confusing is what you're saying.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I can't wait to watch it.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_01]: It has great reviews.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody's been talking about it.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, Chad Gable is the one who lost the match.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_01]: And he had to give up his mask.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_02]: Essentially giving up the gimmick, right?
- 13:34[SPEAKER_02]: Giving the gimmick to Ludwig Kaiser.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_02]: And he cut a promo afterwards.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_02]: I did see that where he said, you know, he may have been the original, but now it belongs to Kaiser.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_02]: And so he'll move forward with that.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_02]: I think it just goes to show that professional wrestling for a reason, right?
- 13:52[SPEAKER_02]: With story behind it, with emotions behind it, it can be great and it can be something so special and it's just better.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_02]: It's just better that way.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_02]: When you have a good storyline that the fans can get invested in, the performers can get invested in, it just makes the matches better, makes them more interesting.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_02]: And that's what you saw with this one, and even though I didn't see the match, I saw the reaction to the match.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_02]: And judging by that reaction, this was one of the best matches of the year, and you're right, if I need to go back and check this one out, because if this is a match of the year candidate, then I want to see what's up.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Chad Gable and my opinion, if he was three inches taller, 20 pounds heavier, okay?
- 14:39[SPEAKER_01]: If he was just, you know, if he was six, one, two hundred and twenty pounds.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_01]: He'd be one of the biggest stars in wrestling period.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_01]: Is it really just the bias against smaller people that kept him down in the WB?
- 14:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think so, you know, he's a little bit older.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_02]: Chad Gable's already 40 years old, so maybe past his quote unquote prime.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_02]: And when Vince McMahon was still in charge, he, you're right, lean towards the bigger guys, the giants.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_02]: He wants to, he wants bodybuilders in that professional wrestling ring.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_02]: And Chad Gable is in great shape, but he's not a large human being.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_02]: You know, amateur wrestlers, and that's what he was.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_02]: That's the world he comes from.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_02]: they're more successful when they're more compact, you know, and so Vince had had a bias against Gable and didn't give him much of a push.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_02]: And now you see him finally get to sink his teeth into a storyline and
- 15:39[SPEAKER_02]: it was a goof storyline right like it's not like it's not like this was handed to him on a silver platter and everybody looked at it and said oh it's going to make a bazillion dollars you know like this this is silly gimmick when you first see it okay we're doing the blue blazer we're doing uh you know mister mister america all of that stuff right
- 16:00[SPEAKER_02]: And heat was able to turn it into a gimmick, a character that people cared about, and then Ludwig Kaiser is able to come in and take over the gimmick and take it to new heights due to his ability to speak Spanish in Mexico and connect with the audience down there and get people emotionally invested.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_02]: And so you get these two people coming together.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_02]: They've spent a lot of time and effort on these characters and on this storyline.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_02]: and that's what you saw with this match and people were genuinely invested in the outcome and apparently these guys delivered.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't even want to chat cable debut.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_01]: He debuted first lives on NXT and then he debuted on that tag team with Jordan.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_01]: What was the name of that guy?
- 16:48[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan, he's now produced.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan, Jason Jordan, that's the name.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_02]: I think so.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_01]: And what was the name of
- 17:00[SPEAKER_01]: Was it American Alfa is the latest, the latest incarnation of that gimmick, which is a name of that team, because it was great, Google is on the old phone right here, yeah, it was it was very old school matching trunks, you know, you had the speed guy, you had the power guy, both clean cut.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that was American alpha.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_02]: It was American alpha Chad Gable Jason Jordan, American alpha.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_01]: And then Jason Jordan gets injured.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and that ruined the whole thing.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_01]: Y'all, you know, but that was when, you know, tag team wrestling and look like it was going somewhere, you know, like that, like that was a great, great team.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, Chad Gable, great, great wrestler.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_01]: And it's a shame that,
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: you know, he hasn't really stuck in WWE as a mega star, you know, and he has to go to triple a to get the rewards he deserves, although I never understood why, okay, if you're going to make the intercontinental title like a lesser title, which you actually have, you actually have done, make some of those guys that are really, really talented compete for that title and maybe
- 18:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and that's the way it used to be done.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_02]: And now it just feels like almost a consolation prize that they give it to somebody.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, quickly, do you know who the intercontinental title champion is?
- 18:32[SPEAKER_02]: I do not.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_02]: I genuinely don't.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_02]: When you were, when you were a kid, do you remember at all times who the intercontinental champion was?
- 18:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yep, every single one.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right?
- 18:43[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, that's on the WWE.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_01]: That's on Triple H and the gang.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like, come on, if people don't even know who the hell your champions are, you know, like that's an issue.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, why not do that?
- 18:56[SPEAKER_01]: Bring him back.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: Now that that can mix dead, right?
- 18:59[SPEAKER_01]: For him, at least, bring him back.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_01]: and have him, you know, you could make that the gimmick that he's going to be a tri-hard guy, you know, that he's going to be the guy he's, you know, and think about the payoff if he wins then to content it'll title in WrestleMania year from now, you know?
- 19:17[SPEAKER_02]: You don't work.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_02]: I think it'll work.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_02]: Get behind it.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_02]: Well, and you know, now's a great time to give him a push.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_02]: He's from Minnesota and summer slams in Minnesota in two months.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_02]: So you could really keep the momentum rolling and he can gather some steam before being in front of his hometown crowd.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, there's just a few guys that he won't look good in the ring against like if you put them in the ring with Roman Reigns, he's just not going to look good.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_01]: Roman Reigns is 64, 265 pounds.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_01]: At least he's built that way, but he has 64.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_01]: He's a legit 64 and at least well, I saw him doing it in every interview and he says that his gimmick weight is 265, but he wrestles at 245.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_01]: So he's gonna outweigh.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's gonna outweigh Chad Gable by 50 pounds at least.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so it's not going to end and he's gonna.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to be about at least six inches taller.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_01]: That's not going to look good.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's not going to look good in the ring.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 20:14[SPEAKER_02]: clear mismatch there in terms of size and even style, you know, like I have no doubt that Gabel could, could wrestle that more, that top level style, right, the entertainment style, less technical, Romans are great wrestler in his own right, but, but yeah, I mean,
- 20:34[SPEAKER_02]: I like the idea of getting the intercontinental title back to a work-rate title, right?
- 20:39[SPEAKER_02]: These are our best in-ring matches, and it's hard to argue against Chad Gable as being one of the best in-ring performers right now, even if he's been saddled with less than star-making gimmicks throughout the years.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_01]: The right guy can cut a promo and say, look,
- 20:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not the universal champion.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not the world wrestling entertainment heavyweight champion.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'm the best wrestler in the world.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_01]: And you know why?
- 21:09[SPEAKER_01]: Because I own the intercontinental title.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_01]: And you can make matches like, you know, you can make, you know, Finn, but can you imagine Finn Baller versus Chad Gable?
- 21:18[SPEAKER_01]: Be great.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like those guys could turn, you know, they could bring the house down anytime that they wanted to use saw, clash, and Italy.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_01]: Sure did.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_01]: You're thoughts on that event.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_01]: I hate how the main event went down, but and really the whole booking of the main event and what they've done with Jacob Fattu since, but what did you make of that whole show?
- 21:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I thought it started out really hot.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_02]: You could tell the crowd kind of died towards the middle.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_02]: Really on the back two matches.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't think they were bad matches.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_02]: I thought maybe the main event went a little long.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_02]: You know, WWE, they do a match.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_02]: There's only five matches per show now, right?
- 21:58[SPEAKER_02]: They do a match, then a long commercial break.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_02]: That's not conducive to keeping your audience into the whole thing for the duration of the whole thing.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_02]: You know, so I thought the matches were good and I thought they were entertaining.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_02]: I know there's a lot of people on the internet, right?
- 22:15[SPEAKER_02]: Now talking down on that show.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't see it the same way.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_02]: I thought it was a quality wrestling show.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_02]: Was it the best one I've ever seen?
- 22:22[SPEAKER_02]: But it was entertaining.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_02]: It was worth your time and there was some damn good wrestling on that card.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_02]: Did you like it out?
- 22:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I thought it was decent.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_01]: It was a decent show, you know.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_01]: I saw on and off, you know, and I've seen the matches like kind of
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: You know, sporadically, you know, kind of like how I saw double or nothing up by the way I did put on double or nothing the AEW show from the week prior and I tried to, you know, get the cadence of it and then I saw when I put it on my TV I saw the time counter and it said five hours and ten minutes and I said, oh, AEW still sucks huh, it's a very very long wrestling that's too much wrestling when.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, catch your whole day.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_01]: Five hours and ten minutes of wrestling.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_01]: So I do recommend watching that show, but what you got to do is just
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: Get the matches individually and just watch the matches individually and you're going to enjoy the show, you know, because I'm pretty sure that.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm pretty sure that there's there's at least 20 minutes of fluff in between the matches.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: There's probably three hours of wasted time.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_01]: You know, why you get from one match to the next.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_01]: So as I just watching it that way, but you know, this a a couple of things and we're going to get to Jacob out to in a second, but
- 23:43[SPEAKER_01]: For two weeks, everybody's just talking about how Sol Ruka is a mess, and she keeps watching moves, and she did legitimately botch a move on national television on Saturday night.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: It was a convoluted finish, but she completely screwed that up.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: And they put the title on her, like, they were water for it, I didn't get that.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_02]: I think, for me, it's less important who wins, who loses, who's champion, who's not.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_02]: It was probably just in the cards all along, right?
- 24:13[SPEAKER_02]: Like, here's the story.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_02]: This is how it's going to culminate.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_02]: Becky's going to go on to other things.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_02]: This is what we have planned for her heading into Summerslam.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_02]: And quite frankly, Becky is such a big star.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_02]: She doesn't need a title to be relevant, right?
- 24:29[SPEAKER_02]: A title is almost a prop in a way to prop up
- 24:33[SPEAKER_02]: the person holding it.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes, right?
- 24:35[SPEAKER_02]: And this is one of those instances where Soul Ruka is so green and so new that if you're introducing her to the audience and she is an impressive wrestler, right?
- 24:46[SPEAKER_02]: Very, very athletic.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_02]: That'll only carry you so long.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_02]: But if you reward the audience is interested in her by putting a title on her, then there are people that go, oh, she's an even bigger deal than I thought, right?
- 25:00[SPEAKER_02]: So not necessarily done for the quote, unquote, smartmart crowd, you know, people who kind of understand how the business works, but more so done for the casual fan and to get them more emotionally invested in Solruka, who she is and what she does.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_02]: So I get the idea behind putting a belt on her even while she still has a lot to work on.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, speaking of the women's division in double or nothing, there's a match where Christian, he goes by Christian cage and Adam Copeland, they get together to Russell FTR and the matches, the matches great.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_01]: And Beth Phoenix,
- 25:41[SPEAKER_01]: going by Beth Copeland makes an appearance.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: She could still go like if if I'm a W I'm putting the belt on her making her unbelievable you're unbeatable going forward because she absolutely looks great like she looks how old is Beth Phoenix by now.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_01]: easily mid to late 40s at this point.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_01]: She looked like a million bucks in that show.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_01]: So I highly recommend it.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_01]: That's the first match that caught my on double or nothing moving onto to a clash in Italy.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't get that that Jacob fought to
- 26:19[SPEAKER_01]: Roman Reigns match.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_01]: At the end, uh, I guess Jacob Fattu is now subservient back to the tribal chief and we're bringing back this bloodline thing and it just didn't work for me.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like I always thought that Jacob Fattu was going to be the end all in this feud, right?
- 26:40[SPEAKER_01]: that he was going to be with Solicocoa was because like Solicocoa, pretty good on the mic, he looks good in the ring.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, you want to be a Simone badass.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_01]: Solicocoa looks the part.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_01]: I don't like his wrestling style.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_01]: Just doesn't work for me, you know what I mean?
- 26:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_01]: He just doesn't look, he's not believable to me as a threat to the two guys that he was you know, feuding with, Cody Rhodes and then Roman Reigns.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_01]: It just didn't, it didn't feel good to me.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_01]: But he's just going to beat him and now he's what is he's he's he's he's Roman Reigns henchmen now he just follows them around like a like a people like his dog I hate it.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what you think about it.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's not the direction I would have gone in for Roman winning the title just a few months ago.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_02]: I would have had some other people built up to challenge him.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't have gone straight into a bloodline feud.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 27:41[SPEAKER_02]: You can save those.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_02]: Those can be bigger deals.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_02]: Just to do this right after WrestleMania for the last couple months and then have the blow off
- 27:53[SPEAKER_02]: on a clash in Italy show that's happening at 2 o'clock in the afternoon on a Sunday like it's just anti-climactic.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_02]: That's for sure.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_02]: I think Jacob Fattu is
- 28:08[SPEAKER_02]: better than a henchman, you know, you said that perfectly right now he is just one of Roman's henchman.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's better than that.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_02]: I think he has a bigger star power, more star power than that.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think on his own as a singles talent he can be
- 28:24[SPEAKER_02]: a world champion someday.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, there's still plenty of time to get around to it, but you've done some damage to his reputation as this big mean badass, this this Simone, where Wolf character, who's a little unhinged and a little crazy by having him.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_02]: It's it's not a big deal to lose to Roman Reigns, right?
- 28:44[SPEAKER_02]: But then he not only does he lose but then he acknowledges him and and now I'm I'm I'm stepping I'm voluntarily stepping back into the shadows Honestly I agree with the office not a direction I would have gone with the Jacob Fattu character because I think there's money there.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's money to be made with this guy and they're kind of telling you as an audience member.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_02]: They're telling you I doesn't matter that much
- 29:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Paul Hayman, you know, did all the work initially and then Jacob Fattu shows up and backs up that the work that Paul Hayman made on did on the mic, right?
- 29:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I never forget that.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was a great promo, you know?
- 29:22[SPEAKER_01]: If I start giggling through the promo, it means it's working, okay.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, because I'm like, okay, this, this, this, this is, this is, this is, this is like like Vincent van Woodoff said back in a day like this is really really good shit.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_01]: When he was telling Roman like, hey, yeah, you're surrounding yourself with these with these people and and Roman and I remember that the whole problem was, you know, Roman sitting there looking really regal and he looks at Paul him and he goes to family.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_01]: And Paul, him, it looks and he goes, the people are a bunch of criminals.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_01]: You understand there.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_01]: We're home and like that works.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like you're listening to it and you're like, whoa, these people are criminals and take a photo's there.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_01]: And then you see him in the ring and you're like, whoa, yeah, this guy is he's kind of unhinged.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_01]: It works and then you just like, what?
- 30:06[SPEAKER_01]: He loses one match and he's back to kissing Roman Reigns' ass like, I don't get it.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_01]: And then you do, you do the glance, right?
- 30:18[SPEAKER_01]: Look, I don't, you know how I am, all right?
- 30:20[SPEAKER_01]: I don't like things that wouldn't happen in real life in my wrestling because it kind of ruins my wrestling.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_01]: That's why do not understand that the sledgehammer is iconic.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_01]: Don't bring a sledgehammer into the ring, right?
- 30:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like, look, I was, I was gasing up that match between FTR and Christian and Edge.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_01]: But they used a couple of weapons in there that I'd be like,
- 30:43[SPEAKER_01]: Don't do those, you know, those weapons suck, you know, like as used to pair a pair of pliers, don't use a pair of pliers, you know, if you could do severe bodily damage to the point where you're going to get arrested and go to prison for assault, then don't use that weapon, you know what I mean, a chair is fine, you can use a chair, you know, don't use a bat, very simple rule, you know what, you know what's my rule, right, if you're keeping it if you heard it.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_02]: if you can if it can kill you don't use it.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yes precisely.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_01]: If it can kill you, don't use it.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_01]: But like I was saying and they did this thing after the match, which never happens in real life.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_01]: The glance over like, nobody ever walks past each other and stairs at each other and then walks away.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_01]: Now they usually say something to each other, right?
- 31:36[SPEAKER_01]: I would have preferred a Roman would have walked past Cody and Cody would have given them that look and it would have said something to each other like just say hello, maybe even shake hands and then then you could give a look if you want, but they just stare at each other and just walk away.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_01]: Then it never happens if we were life don't do that.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_01]: But I guess that's where they're going because on top of that Cody beats Gunter.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_01]: which like, if you want to throw a curve ball in all of this, like, thank God, I don't bet on wrestling.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_01]: And if I did, somebody has to tackle me, okay?
- 32:08[SPEAKER_01]: Cause that would be the lead way too much degenerate behavior.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_01]: But if you told me, you know what?
- 32:14[SPEAKER_01]: For fun, let's put a bet on this match.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_01]: I've been, yeah, okay, Gunther's winning.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_01]: All right, I'll put my 50 bucks on Gunther.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_01]: I would have lost my $50, because I had no idea it was going to go this way.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_01]: But it did.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_01]: What were your thoughts on the booking of that match?
- 32:29[SPEAKER_01]: And then I guess the nod to what we're going to see eventually.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_02]: Well, yeah, and, you know, this long form storytelling, you got six months to the end of this year, which means, you know, close to seven months till Royal Rumble, and then you had a few months, a couple months on top of that, we're nine months away from WrestleMania.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_02]: So who knows, maybe see a little something from these guys moving forward, or maybe this is just the thing, just to thread their going to carry throughout their careers until they eventually meet again.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_02]: But as far as Gunther goes, I just, I feel like you,
- 33:04[SPEAKER_02]: They pull them out when they need something, he does so fucking good, he's such a good wrestler.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_02]: They build them up like this big badass, right?
- 33:12[SPEAKER_02]: Retiring people left and right, and then they just throw them into a storyline like this and feed them to the champs.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_02]: So that can work, right?
- 33:22[SPEAKER_02]: If you're trying to build your champ up even more, but I just feel like gumptor's been put into a position where he's not a feeder guy anymore.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_02]: Like he is the guy.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_02]: And so I'm not going to use him in storylines like this.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_02]: Me personally, I'm going to save that for when it really is going to mean something.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_02]: And again, the blowoff wouldn't be at 2 p.m. on a Sunday on a clash in Italy show.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_02]: I want summer slam, WrestleMania, Royal Rumble.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_02]: Those are the times I want gumptor wrestling for the title.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_02]: I don't need it on clash in Paris or Italy or wherever the hell they are this time.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, now on the internet, the one result that got people like kind of up in arms is broad break or getting beat by Seth Rollins did when you surprised by that.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_01]: Did you like that decision?
- 34:08[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that one was on raw, right?
- 34:10[SPEAKER_02]: I was on raw the next the next night.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, or two nights after.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_02]: And that, yeah, you, well, that's the thing, right?
- 34:22[SPEAKER_02]: Like,
- 34:24[SPEAKER_02]: people on the internet are going to get mad about something, either way, right?
- 34:28[SPEAKER_02]: Those same people would have been mad if the if the direction was reversed.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_02]: It's just one of those things where like much like we talked about earlier in the show where you're we're not in the room with Jeff Hathley when he's saying this is what today's practice is.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_02]: We're not in the writers room when they're coming up with these stories.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_02]: So we could sit here and judge an individual outcome and say, is that right?
- 34:48[SPEAKER_02]: Is that wrong?
- 34:49[SPEAKER_02]: In a vacuum, maybe it's one thing, but when you look, when you take a step back and you look at the bigger picture, maybe it's another thing.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 34:57[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it leads to something that we didn't even see coming.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it leads to something even more interesting.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_02]: So that's what you're hoping there, but the internet's always going to be mad at something else.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_01]: Brombracers, aura out of this, right?
- 35:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, it's the same people that are getting mad that Oba lost to Brock, right?
- 35:20[SPEAKER_02]: We can't, you can't, you can't bury Oba.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, guys, they didn't bury Oba, Brock attacked Oba before the bell.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_02]: You know, got the jump on him, ended up giving him seven F-5s, including one through the, the announcer's table, right?
- 35:34[SPEAKER_02]: Like it took a lot to beat Oba Femi, right?
- 35:38[SPEAKER_02]: In a way, you actually made Oba look very, very strong.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_02]: even while having him lose, that it took all of that from somebody as large and as beast-like on intended as Brock Lesnar.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_02]: So, and we all know what's happening there, right?
- 35:52[SPEAKER_02]: We've washed enough wrestling and even just regular combat sports to know that, of course, Brock was going to win that one because we had to get the Obo versus Brock III.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_02]: Again,
- 36:05[SPEAKER_02]: probably at Somerslam, Minneapolis, Brock's hometown is that where he finally hangs up the boots and calls it a career.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_02]: Is that where we finally see the real retirement of Brock Lesser?
- 36:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I've kind of seen the future.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_01]: Are you aware of RAF?
- 36:25[SPEAKER_01]: Have you heard of it?
- 36:28[SPEAKER_01]: I don't, maybe.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_01]: What is it?
- 36:35[SPEAKER_01]: Nope, no idea what that is.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, real American freestyle is it's a new promotion where they're getting like world-class wrestlers to actually wrestle.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so you had Kobe COVID-19 who got cut from the UFC.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's already won a championship there and defended it, right?
- 36:58[SPEAKER_01]: The rumor is that that's where Brock Lesnar is going to go to try to win, try to win the heavyweight championship there.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's just shoot fighting, yeah, but no punching.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_01]: You can't punch.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's wrestling.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's wrestling.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_01]: Freestyle wrestling, just like in high school, just like in college.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_01]: The same thing where Brock Lesnar was an all-American in and the rumor is that they're going to offer him a pile of money to Russell and his opponent could be King Velasquez.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_02]: Watch that.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_02]: That's how you get me to watch RAF.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_01]: You know who you know what I would want to watch on RAF if he could still do it the problem as he's so injured Kurt angle we could finally get a Kurt angle versus Brock Lesnar wrestling match
- 37:42[SPEAKER_02]: that would have been fun, that would have been fun, for sure.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_02]: And what I was apparently, actually, he used to go at each other, Lesnar and Angle, he used to go at each other and shoot amateur wrestling matches prior to shows, just to pop the boys.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_01]: But nobody can, nobody actually comes clean on, and who was winning these matches?
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: Except Kurt Angle, Kurt Angle, he's saying, I was winning.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I don't want any matches.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_01]: But nobody's saying who actually won these matches,
- 38:13[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe we could have seen it, but, you know, I don't think so anymore because he's too injured.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_01]: Her name goes way too injured.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, two injured, two old, you know.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, this RAF thing is I think that's the direction they're going with.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_01]: And you would think like, you know, what is right, you know, let's just go do RAF, how much are they going to pay him?
- 38:32[SPEAKER_01]: You know, do they even have money to pay him?
- 38:34[SPEAKER_01]: Supposedly they do, because the rumors that they'll offer him a million dollars to Russell came for last kiss.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_02]: There you go.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_02]: That's a purse you got to take.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and you get to and he gets to get a little bit of payback because that's what can't But I can't punch him in the face anymore.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_01]: There he go.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so he could get him you could get him in his element.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_01]: So I think it's going to be interesting.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's going to be really interesting.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_01]: And I know Ben Ascreen is making his return.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_01]: You know who Ben Ascreen is, right?
- 39:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to go to RAF and I think he's going to wrestle the current.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_01]: Well, to wait, I believe Walter White, champion, Bilal Muhammad from the UFC.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to wrestle him in RAF.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_01]: You know, that's the thing you see is allowing like crossover with RAF because yeah, you've see athletes like they're not going to get injured, you know, they're rustling, you know, it's freestyle rest and no punching or kicking is allowed.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_01]: So your your concussions are going to be to a minimum, only two slams.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that that's what Lesner is thinking about because he came very, very close.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_01]: I believe it was five years ago.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_01]: to signing with the UFC, the UFC had money ready for him like about five years ago.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_01]: And the UFC said, you gotta pass a physical.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_01]: He passed a physical.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_01]: We'll sign into a two-fight deal and I believe that that two-fight deal was supposed to be supposed to be for like about $5 million.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_01]: And he couldn't pass a physical.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_01]: And the UFC didn't clear him.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_01]: So the UFC didn't clear him.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_01]: He couldn't compete in that.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_01]: But he could compete in RAF.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe he still has that bug and he's like, you know what?
- 40:19[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna finally scratch my competitive vision and get in this RAF thing and become the heavyweight champion.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_01]: Which is gonna be pretty cool because that would mean that Lesnar would own titles in the UFC, in RAF and the WWE.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yep, that would be cool.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_02]: I'd be down.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_02]: Keep me up first.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_01]: The first ever.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_01]: The first ever to do that.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_01]: Next week, I guess we'll talk a little bit White House card.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_01]: Next week, that's gonna be a lot of fun.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_01]: on Sunday, the 14th, and I don't know what's on tap for wrestling, but you do have your homework assignment.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_01]: Watch those matches on double or nothing and tell me what you think.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I knew I wanted to ask you something.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to let you, you don't have to go into WWE, right?
- 41:12[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe pick somebody from AWS, somebody obscure.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_01]: So you're not going
- 41:18[SPEAKER_01]: Who is, maybe you can pick a guy from all time?
- 41:21[SPEAKER_01]: Who, in your opinion, got the most pub, the biggest reputation for being great and just never was when you watched them.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_01]: Like it just wasn't your cup of speech.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_01]: Because I finally saw mine, my guy.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_02]: In truth.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_02]: Go first.
- 41:42[SPEAKER_02]: Actually, I think I have my guy and I think he's probably a good human being I've never met him before But he seems like a good guy and a lot of people like him and a lot of my students like him and they bring him up all the time And I'm just like, yeah, it wasn't wasn't my cup of tea.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't like a style not my guy Batistas that dude for me was never a Batista guy didn't like Batista
- 42:04[SPEAKER_02]: He had matches that I probably should remember.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_02]: I don't remember any of them.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_02]: I just I never cared I just never cared.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_02]: I like the more athletic style.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_01]: So now wasn't a big Batista guy His match with Undertaker in hell in the cell is of Jimmy one of the best hell in the cell matches of all time I know what it gives his shit Like nobody ever mentions it and I don't know I don't know what that is my guy I found him on that AEW show
- 42:29[SPEAKER_01]: because I finally sat down because I just saw sporadically I saw three four matches and I'm like man these matches are good I'm digging this and I saw the main event like I saw the whole main event from the vignettes to the buildup and I thought they did a fabulous job at AEW and like I said that building looks just great man.
- 42:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like have you seen any like the pictures of what that show look like that building looks awesome Like I guess at WWE already has managed to square garden.
- 42:57[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, why the hell would they want to go to Louis Armstrong Stadium To Louis Armstrong Stadium looks a lot better than Madison Square Garden.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_01]: It looks beautiful like that's a great venue.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's all built up Like the I think I told you about it, right?
- 43:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's the first like 10 rows around the ring are on the floor
- 43:16[SPEAKER_01]: And then it immediately starts moving up, you know what I mean?
- 43:20[SPEAKER_02]: Because it's a tentative setting.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so imagine you're putting a wrestling ring in the middle of a tennis court.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's the floor area.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_01]: So, and, and it's not, you know, it's not some po-dunk 2000's seat building.
- 43:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's a 3000 seat building, so you could get a lot of people in there.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_01]: I saw my match on there, okay.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_01]: They had the battle for Japan, and the way they built this up was that Ocata was the greatest Japanese wrestler of all time, and they kept saying it, and they mentioned it like a thousand times on the show.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_01]: His opponent was Takeshta, right?
- 43:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry, to case there's a better wrestler in Okada and he was in the same match and they're both Japanese, okay, I can't stand Okada like you don't want it Okada and look Jim Coronette was famous for calling him Okada, he is essentially Japanese Okada, Russell is the same style without the talent and without the charisma.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and sometimes you, you get that with Japanese wrestlers, right?
- 44:21[SPEAKER_02]: Some of them break them all to Shinsuke Nakamura and Otana Hashi, right?
- 44:23[SPEAKER_02]: They have big colorful characters, sometimes, you know, with the, the masked wrestlers in Japan, you, you, you get that.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_02]: But other times you get, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you,
- 44:37[SPEAKER_02]: You get what we call white meat wrestlers, right?
- 44:40[SPEAKER_02]: Very bland, very boring.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_02]: And you can still appreciate the style of wrestling that they're doing, but I do understand where you're coming from and there are some wrestlers out there that get a lot of
- 44:54[SPEAKER_02]: public publicity, and then you sit down to watch him and you go, I'm not feeling this one.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you're aware.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_01]: Have you watched him wrestle, right?
- 45:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Kato's entire gimmick is, I'm at least, I'm great.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's his whole gimmick is, I'm great.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I'm awesome.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_01]: He wears a suit, right?
- 45:16[SPEAKER_01]: He also looks like a million bucks when he's on the mic, but then he says nothing when he gets the mic, right?
- 45:22[SPEAKER_01]: He just says like one liners that they fed him because he doesn't speak English that well, all right?
- 45:27[SPEAKER_01]: So don't put a mic in front of it, give him a good and that's what I don't understand.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_01]: He has done calis as his manager and then done calis doesn't speak for him.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_01]: You know what's the point if you're going to have the heel manager loud mouth if he's never going to speak for him right, but when he does speak from the whole gimmick is this guy's unbeatable.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_01]: This guy's the greatest wrestler of all time.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_01]: He's the greatest Japanese wrestler of all time and that's all one promo that don't call us cut when he says that he considered it an insult.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_01]: Every time he gets referred to as the best Japanese wrestler of all time.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_01]: He's one of the best wrestlers of all time period.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like okay now even.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_01]: This is not really believable, and this is a professional wrestling.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like a well, a professional wrestling moves from, you know, maybe I can believe this to not this is bullshit.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_01]: Then I got a problem with it.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, God, I'm not a fan.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_02]: The the most average of all time in your opinion.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, the most average Japanese wrestler vault, the most forgettable Japanese wrestler of all time.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm telling you, the buildup and the intro was the greatest Japanese rest of all time.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_01]: The guy he was wrestling is better than him.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_01]: And last night checked, he was from Japan.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_01]: Because one guy is built from Tokyo and the other guy is built from Osaka.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, Japan.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_01]: Both guys are from Japan.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, what?
- 46:57[SPEAKER_01]: The other guy was better.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_02]: My opinion, Kenta Koba, she's the best Japanese wrestler of all time, followed by the great Muda.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_02]: I love the great Muda.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_02]: Great Muda is great.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_01]: That's a question.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_01]: Great Japanese wrestlers.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you know what, that's a show.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's a full segment on the next show.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_02]: We'll come back talking.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_02]: Best Japanese wrestlers of all time.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_01]: That is a great show.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_01]: All right, and we'll do that.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe we'll do that next week.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_01]: Hello, next week we have a lot to talk about.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_01]: And you have some homework to do.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_01]: Watch those matches.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_01]: Watch double or nothing.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_01]: Pretty damn good.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_01]: You also have to watch the El Grande American.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_01]: I got to watch that.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that'll be the one for you.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_02]: You can find that on YouTube right away.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it should be on YouTube and that one's getting match of the year pub so it better be good Because it's been built up a lot now in fact as soon as this shows done that's where I'm headed to I'm gonna go watch that match.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_01]: So all right, that's it for me and Marick We will talk to you again next week
